Having thoughts of The Party being touchy as all fuck after everything.
Like you cannot enter nor leave any kind of hang out without a hug, high-five, pat, or anything from everyone you were hanging out with.
And then, suddenly, you aren’t able to leave without a kiss or hug of some kind from Steve.
It started after the bullshit that was the Starcourt Mall. The kids were leaving Steve’s house from a DnD session maybe 2 months before the Byers left for Cali.
Dustin was taking forever to pull his shoes on and get out the house to his moms car and everyone was complaining. It was one of those rare times where Steve wasn’t the one carting them all around— they all had their own rides.
Dustin got his shoes on and Steve handed him his bag and— without thinking— pressed a kiss to the top of his hat before waving him out the door.
The rest of the kids are silent until Mike speaks up bitchily “what about us, asshole?”
Steve has no idea what they mean until El points to her head with a grin. Steve deals out head and forehead kisses for everyone and waves them off to their respective rides.
And then it just— sticks. At first it’s with just the kids whenever he sees them. He’ll usually greet them with a hug or an exasperated sigh and then say goodbye with a kiss to their foreheads.
Not even Mike complains. This is the kind of shit he never got while growing up— might as well make the best of it.
And then it migrates to Robin as well, and the Nancy is joining in on the hugs (they’re still too awkward for the kisses but the hugs are enough for now).
And Steve never holds back, not even in public. Again, no one complains.
And that’s how Hellfire finds out about the kissing arrangement (that might be the title of this if I make it an actual fic). They watch as Steve presses a forehead kiss to Mike, Lucas, and Dustin before waving them off and then presses a kiss to Max’s head and giving her a tight hug.
The guys try to make fun of the kids for it but none of them are embarrassed.
“It’s Steve, dude. He’s like a mom.”
“The kisses are actually really comforting.”
“It’s a Party thing.”
And then the fuckery of 1986 and Vecna happens and suddenly Eddie’s in on the hugs and pats and high-fives.
And then.
And then.
He’s in on the kisses.
Steve doles out the kisses like usual one night after Hellfire and gives one to everyone— including Eddie.
And Eddie panics and gives Steve one right back.
And then the kids are going feral about wanting to give Steve a kiss too.
And Eddie leaves during the chaos.
And then they don’t talk about it.
Until Steve and Eddie do it again.
And the kids accept is as the new normal; you have to give Steve a kiss back.
And then Steve and Eddie have an excuse to kiss each other on the foreheads and cheeks and noses.
One night they’re hanging out, just the two of them at the trailer after Wayne left for work.
Steve had greeted Eddie with a tight hug the moment he’d gotten in the trailer. Eddie had squeezed back just as tight if not tighter.
Steve was getting ready to leave, and on instinct leant in to kiss Eddie, but Eddie was also leaning in to kiss Steve. So they meet in the middle and accidentally kiss on the lips.
And then the new normal for Steve and Eddie is kissing on the lips goodbye.
Idk, just Steve being a very touchy feely person makes me so happy

If there was one thing in this world that Eddie was good at, it was complaining about anything and everything. All of this huffing and puffing from him just because you were going on a date? You don’t know what the big deal was, but you had also tuned him out a long time ago.
You looked at him through the mirror and just rolled your eyes. “Eddie, it’s just a date.”
Your statement caused Eddie to pause his pacing, making eye contact with you. “Just a date? We all know that Danny is known for fucking girls!” If Eddie kept going how he was going, you were sure that his head might explode.
Sure, you and Eddie were fuck buddies, but it was never anything more than that. Why was he suddenly freaking out? Was Eddie jealous that you were going out with another metalhead that wasn’t him? That had to be the problem. As much as you wanted to be more with him, you knew that it was bound to never happen (or was it?)
You pushed the thought far from your mind and finished with your makeup. You were not about to let this small hiccup get in the way of the fun night that Danny said he had planned. It was your first date in years and you were determined to have some sort of fun - no matter what that entailed.
“Eddie, chill out, it’s fine.” You spun around in your chair and faced him. “If he wants to fuck me, then so be it. I’m sure you fuck other girls that aren’t me.”
What you didn’t know was that statement was completely false. Eddie had only been fucking you for the last year. He had no urge to seek out anyone else with a wet hole to sink his cock into. Why would he do that when he had you? He tried to hide his jealousy, but on the inside, he was fuming. Eddie bit his tongue and tried his best to change the subject, even though you remained suspicious of him.
“I guess I just want you to be careful is all.” Eddie sat on your bed as you finished getting ready and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes.
“Aren’t I always careful?” Eddie laughed at you and shook his head, he knew better than that. You were never careful and the thought of you going out with someone else made him internally gag.
Eddie was pulled from his thoughts when he heard a car honking just outside his house. Danny couldn’t even come to the damn door? Any other person that you could have gone out with wouldn’t have made Eddie this mad, but Danny? You were never going to be able to live this one down.
You were downstairs in no time, saying your goodbyes to Eddie and running outside to jump into Danny’s car. Eddie watched as you leaned over and placed a kiss on Danny’s cheek and that’s when Eddie decided that he was going to wait up for you, show you who you really belonged to once you got home. He was going to prove that no one could make you feel as good as he makes you feel.
You were in for a long fucking night, you just didn’t know it yet.
Tumblr media
By the time you got back home, it was nearing three in the morning. The date was fun and you forgot about the time long ago, not worrying when you would actually make it back to your place. You tried to be quiet, even though you lived alone, and made a beeline for your bedroom. The living room light turned on and you were stopped dead in your tracks, your fight or flight response going into full effect.
You went to turn around to see if it was an intruder, but your eyes nearly rolled out of your head once you saw that it was just Eddie. “Jesus H. Christ, what are you still doing here?”
Eddie got off the couch and slowly made his way over to you, his eyes scanning over your body. “Eddie, you didn’t answer-“
“Is that a hickey?”
Shit. Why did you suddenly feel bad for having a hickey or for having gone out on a date? You placed your hand on your neck and tried your best to fake laugh, not wanting to draw more attention to it. “I-I don’t know what on earth you are talking about?” Playing the dumb card wasn’t going to get you far, but it would get you far enough.
With Eddie’s eyes boring into yours, you felt small. He always had this effect on you. Whether it was sexual or not.
“Don’t play dumb,” Eddie gently grabbed your wrist and moved your hand away from the hickey. His jaw clenched once he got a better look at it and you could practically feel the anger emitting from him. “So this is what you do? Let a guy give you a hickey after the first date?”
You pulled your body away from his and started to slowly make your way towards the stairs. “Did you really stay here the whole time I was gone just to see if I came home fucked out or something?” You laughed at him. “Are you that jealous of him? Jealous that he got to fuck my pussy tonight and you didn’t?
Now, that wasn’t true by a long shot. You and Danny made out and he gave you the tiniest hickey, it was nothing more than that. You only said what you said to get a rise out of Eddie, it was your mission to always make him mad.
If you thought Eddie was mad before, you were wrong. He was only getting more pissed the more you talked. You could tell by the way he was just glaring at you and his chest was heaving. How mad could he actually get?
“And he was so much better than-“ Eddie caught you off again, grabbing you by the arm and all but yanking you towards your room. Maybe you had pushed him too far this time and there was definitely no going back.
Eddie pushes you against your bed, your back hitting the mattress. “You think this is funny, don’t you?” Your eyes go wide as you hear the familiar sound of his belt buckle being undone. When you sit up from your lying position, you're met with his precum leaking cock. He had been hard ever since you left earlier, only thinking of what he would do to you once you got back. “I’ll show you what’s so fucking funny.” You didn’t have much time to react because Eddie’s rough hands were in your hair, pulling your head back as he tapped the red and spongy head of his cock to your mouth.
You watched as Eddie huffed at your unopened mouth. He wasn’t going to get it this easy, was he? His thumb ran across your plump bottom lip before prying your mouth open. “You’re going to take everything I give you without complaining. Whores don’t get to complain.”
Without any real protest, his cock slid right into your spit-covered mouth. Eddie groaned at the warm feeling over his cock. You gagged when his cock hit the back of your throat, you were never used to his size. Spit spilled out the corners of your mouth and down your chin. Tears pricked at your eyes before they slowly fell down your face, making your makeup run. God, you’ve never looked better to him. “Aw, is my whore crying?” Eddie brought his hand up and slapped at your face, enough to make you jolt. “You know crying only makes me want to fuck your face more.”
The fact that wetness was pooling in your panties at the moment was a bit concerning. You’ve never been sexual with Eddie when he was this angry and you were so beyond turned on.
“Bet you like it, huh?” His throbbing cock kept hitting the back of your throat, drool now dripping down your chin and the trimmed pubes at the base of his cock tickling your nose. “Just loved to be used like a fucking fleshlight.” Both of his hands came up to grip the sides of your head. His hips began snapping, causing his heavy and cum filled balls to slap against your chin. Eddie was groaning above you, his eyes glued to your spit-covered face. He never thought you would look so good with tears falling from your eyes and your jaw slack from his cock pounding into your throat.
Eddie’s hands left your head, running down your chest and stopping at the top of your shirt to easily rip it open. Buttons went flying, but your mind could focus on that when Eddie’s cold hands found your boobs. His thumbs rubbed over your hardened nipples and you moaned around him, earning a groan from Eddie himself. “Do you like being used like this?” He pulled his cock out long enough for you to answer him, the head of it still resting at your lips.
You took deep breaths before looking up at him and nodding. “Only if it’s you using me.”
His cock slid back into your mouth and he scoffed. “Oh, you trying to kiss ass now?” Eddie held his cock at the back of your throat, watching as you gagged around it. “I don’t think that’s going to help you.”
“Think you need to give my balls some attention, sweetheart.” Your heart almost skipped a beat. Eddie knew how much you loved his balls, he was giving you a treat even though this was all part of his punishment.
Slowly, Eddie pulled his cock out of your mouth before bringing your head closer to him and watching as you rolled your tongue around both of his heavy and cum filled balls. “F-fuck, that’s it, keep licking them.” Eddie held a hand out to the back of your head, keeping you in place. “Such a slut for my balls, aren’t you? Always wanted to be greedy and suck on them even though I’ve already given you my cock.”
You sucked one of his balls into your mouth and when Eddie looked down at you, he almost came all over your face. His still throbbing cock was laying against your head, his ball tucked into your mouth, and your eyes looking right up at him. Your makeup was already running and he fought the urge to mess it up even more. Eddie couldn’t cum yet though. He needed to cum down your throat, make you swallow every last drop of his cum.
“Think that’s enough of that,” Eddie pulled your head back from his balls and you whined at the feeling of them not in your mouth anymore. You didn’t have much time to complain as his cock was quickly back in your mouth again. He held your head tightly as he thrust back and forth, his cock sliding just a bit deeper than it did before.
His hands left your head, sliding back down to your nipples, and chuckled above you at the way your eyes lit up. “Love these tits,” he slapped one before slapping the other, “love to see them bounce.”
Once he was satisfied with how the skin of your boobs had become red and raised from his slaps, he stopped, going for your nipples next.
One pinch of your sensitive nipples had you yelping around his cock. The vibrations sent shocks through Eddie’s body and in a split second he was coming down your throat, the salty taste taking over your tastebuds. “Shit, swallow every last drop. Milk my cock with your fucking mouth.”
Eddie pulled out his softening cock from your mouth and you hummed at the taste of him, wanting to taste more of him.
He stripped himself of his jeans and boxers, leaving him in just his shirt.
It wasn’t until he took a small step back to admire his work that he saw it. He had been so blind with need to lay his claim on the mouth that Danny had kissed earlier, he hadn’t even noticed your thighs clenching. You were in desperate need of some friction, a release and you would get it any way you can. He tutted at you, pushing your back against the bed again before tugging your jeans down and tossing them off to the side.
“What do we have here?” His thumb rubbed over the soaked spot that had formed in your panties and you gasped at the small amount of contact he gave you. “Are you that needy or is this just Danny’s cum leaking out of your pussy?”
You shook your head, spreading your thighs wider so he could slot himself right between them. “Needy, needy for you, Eddie.” You hissed as he bit down on one of your thighs, making sure that he would leave a mark.
“I don’t know,” he licked over the bite mark, soothing the sting. “Do you deserve it? After everything you said?” Eddie was teasing you and you didn’t know how much more you could take. You were so turned on, your whole body was vibrating with need.
Pulling your panties to the side, you showed just how needy you were for him. A string of your wetness connected to your panties and Eddie groaned at the sight before him. “See? Touch me, do anything you want to me. Just want you to make me feel good.” You were begging but if you didn’t get some more of him soon, you might explode.
Eddie’s rough hands squeezed at your fleshy thighs before going to the hem of your panties. His metal rings left goosebumps in their wake, but you weren’t complaining one bit. He slowly pulled them down your legs, his mouth watering at the full view of your soaked and pretty pussy. There was no doubt in his mind that he was about to eat it like it was his last meal on death row.
A high-pitched whine left you as Eddie’s tongue slowly licked up your wet slit. His hands spread your thighs wide before his thumbs came and spread your lips apart, giving him access to as much as possible. “Oh, look at how pretty she is,” he blew cold air against your swollen clit and your eyes rolled in the back of your head. Eddie had barely done a thing to you and you were already putty in his hands.
Your clit was throbbing and Eddie was enjoying the whimpers coming from you as he kept teasing. He was licking everywhere but where you needed him the most. This was on the tip of your punishment.
After minutes of what felt like agony, his tongue finally swirled around your clit and you moaned his name quietly. This is what you wanted-no, this is what you needed. Your hands found his hair and tugged him as close as you possibly could. Your hips bucked against his face, his tongue now flattening against you. “Trying to take what you want from me?” Eddie’s hands splayed across your hips, holding you down. “You take what I give you, remember?”
You nodded your head and bit at your bottom lip to stifle a moan when he wrapped his lips around your clit. He sucked it in his mouth and swirled his tongue around it at the same time, making you see stars. “Oh god, t-that feels so good.”
Eddie hummed against you. You tasted like honey and it flooded his mouth. “Always such a sweet pussy.” He took a finger and ran it over your slit, applying pressure right on your clit. Your body shook with pleasure. A glob of spit fell from Eddie’s lips and ran down your clit, all the way to your puckered asshole. His thumb rubbed the spit in, you mewled at the contact. “Did Danny know how much you love to be fucked in your tight asshole?” His tongue swiped down at licked over your tight hole and you swear you could’ve cum right then and there. You felt it slip inside you just a bit swirling around before he pulled away and replaced it with his thumb. The tip of his thumb slid right in and god, did it feel so fucking good.
“E-Eddie..” you couldn’t even finish your sentence. His thumb slid in more and was now pumping in and out of the right muscle while his tongue and lips abused your clit. The noises coming from him (and you) were so lewd. Wet squelching sounds of Eddie’s spit and your wetness mixed with your moans, filling the room up the noises.
He pulled away, your slick covering his chin and lips. “Gotta stretch it open so I can get my cock in there, baby.” Your legs shook and he knew you were close to cumming, but he stopped everything before you could.
With heavy breaths, you sat up and glared at him. “What the fuck?” You were so desperate for an orgasm.
Eddie pulled his hands away from you and held them up, “Whores don’t get to cum until I tell them to.” He flipped you over and pushed your face into the pillows, his hands coming down to rest over your hips. “Think you need more punishment, make you think about what you did.. what you said.”
You felt his rough hands rub over your ass cheeks and you knew what was next. Spank! “Need to mark you up and show you that you’re all mine. Spank! Eddie’s rings were already leaving welts behind and the sting was almost too much. You couldn’t help but moan a little with each spank. “You look so pretty like this. So pretty when your ass is nice and red.” He gently soothed over the red markings before reeling both hands back and spanking both of your cheeks at the same time. Tears slid down your cheek and you tried your best to cover them up.
“Aw baby,” Eddie leaned down right next to your face and licked up one of your tears. “You’re even prettier when you cry.”
“J-just please, fuck me.” You pushed your ass over his cock, feeling that he was already hard again. A moan escaped you with the head of it brushed right against your clit. “Need to feel you deep inside me.” You kept grinding against him, earning a low groan from behind you.
Eddie grabbed your hips roughly, stopping your movements. He sighed dramatically when his hands found your wrists and pulled. “How am I supposed to deny you my cock when you’re so desperate for it.” He quickly sat you up long enough to rid you of your shirt and bra before pushing you back onto the bed. His shirt followed yours, making a pile somewhere in the room. You heard him spit into his hand, you turned your head back to see him stroking his cock. “M’gonna make you feel so fucking good.”
You gasped when you felt the head of his cock poke at your puckered hole. When he slowly pushed in, your eyes rolled right into the back of your head and you gripped the sheets below you. No matter how many times Eddie has fucked you in the ass, you will never get over the stretch. Eddie slowly slid in until he was bottomed out, his balls tapping at your clit.
“Fuck, look at that baby.” He spread your ass cheeks, giving him a full view of your ass swallowing his cock whole. A string of spit fell from his mouth, running down your hole and his cock. “So stretched opened for my cock. Feels so tight.” Eddie could feel you clenching around him and groaned, throwing his head back in pleasure.
You bucked back against Eddie, meeting his thrusts halfway. The two of you moaned in unison, nothing could compare to this pleasure. Eddie’s hands found your hair and pulled at it, making you arch your back into your chest. This new position makes you somehow feel more of him.
“Your cock is s-so deep.” Your head hangs low, the pleasure building in your stomach almost too much. Eddie’s hand wrapped around the front of your body before his skilled fingers began to rub at your swollen clit, “f-fuck, please! Please don’t stop.”
Eddie’s hips were rocking into you, his cock thrusting in and out of your now gaped hole. “Should I cum in your ass or should I breed this little pussy, really make you all mine?” Smack! His hand harshly came down across your clit and you fell forward yelping. Eddie gave you once more harsh thrust before pulling out and watching your hole gape. It was like you always needed something to be in it.
The need to cum was taking over your body. You’re not sure how much longer you could last, you needed him and you needed to cum.
Seeming to sense just how desperate you were, Eddie flipped you over to your back. He trailed kisses up your body, stopping at your mouth to lick over your lips. “Think you’ve endured enough punishment.” His lips found yours in a heating kiss, the two of your tongues rolling against each other. When he pulled away, a string of saliva connected you two and he used it to stroke over his cock again.
Your legs spread at the sight, your fingers rubbing at your clit. “I need you so bad,” Eddie’s eyes didn’t leave your fingers, watching as you slid two inside your soaked hole before pulling them out to lick them. “Eddie, please.”
A whimper left you when you felt the heavy head of Eddie’s cock tap at your clit. He pulled you closer to him by your hips before slowly sliding into your pussy, letting you feel every bit of his cock. Every ridge, every vain, he felt so good.
“Love the way you soak my cock.” Eddie leaned over you to place kisses all along your chest while his hips rocked into yours. Each rock of his hips makes his cock hit that sweet spot inside you causing the breath to leave your lungs. “Gonna have you take every bit of my fucking cum.” His hand found your neck and squeezed, relishing in the way that he could feel your heartbeat in your neck, under his hand.
The tight coil was on the verge of being undone. You could feel your toes curling and your legs shaking around Eddie’s body. Each thrust brings you closer and closer. Eddie hit that sweet spot inside you one more time and it all came flooding out. You could barely hear anything of your pornographic screams and the wet gushing sound coming from you. It was all so much that you saw white.
“That’s it, cum all over my fucking cock. Make it drip with your cum.” Eddie didn’t stop thrusting into you, even after you came. He was still chasing his high, even if that meant making you cum for a second time.
After your first orgasm, you became over-sensitive. Every thrust and touch of Eddie sends shockwaves through your body. “E-Eddie, I can’t.” He just laughed and slapped at your cheek, his rings stinging a bit.
“Oh, you can and you, fuck, you will.” You were sure his hips were leaving bruises against your own with how hard he was fucking into you. The whole bed was shaking under you, so hard that it was hitting against the wall.
You could tell he was close. Could tell by the way his eyes screwed shut and his chest was red from how hard he was breathing. You clenched around him already so close to your second orgasm and that’s all it took for his hips to stutter and his cum to spill inside you.
“Shit, t-that’s it, take it fucking all.” His voice was hoarse, but that didn’t stop him from talking. “Gonna get you so pregnant, that way you’re stuck with me.”
From the feeling of him cumming in you to the talks of him breeding you, you were already cumming again. “Eddie, oh my god.” Your body spasmed under him and your legs cling to his hips, holding him inside you so that he could feel just how much you were cumming for him. “I-I..” every thought had left your mind at that moment, you were just focusing on the pleasure.
After what felt like minutes, Eddie slowly pulled out of you and he couldn’t help but groan as some of his cum spilled out of you and under the bed. You hissed at the sudden feeling of emptiness. He plopped down on the bed next to you, pulling your body against his and rubbing a soothing hand down your arm. “I didn’t go too hard, did I?”
You laughed and shook your head. “You know I didn’t sleep with him, right?” You turned to your side, wincing a bit at the soreness that you began to feel between your legs. “I only said that to get you riled up.”
Eddie scoffed and rolled his eyes before placing a surprisingly kind kiss against your forehead. “You think I didn’t know that?” His hands gently caressed your sore boobs as he positioned you to lay even closer to him.
After a while, the two of you drifted off into silence. So much so that Eddie thought you were fast asleep. He took that as an opportunity to come close enough to whisper in your ear. “Hope you know who you really belong to now,” his hand rubbing at your lower stomach, “I’m not going anywhere.” You smiled to yourself, knowing that you were always his in the first place.

Tumblr media
The box had been sitting on his shelf for months now, taunting him, a constant reminder that you were gone, and were never coming back. He couldn’t lie, he had tried to get rid of the box several times, just throw it in the dumpster, and forget everything, even forget you, but he couldn’t. You would never forgive him for it, and he knew that, but that's not why he kept it, no he kept it because it was the last parts of you that he had. The last thing you gave him, and no matter how much it hurt him to gaze at the box every waking moment, he couldn’t bring himself to get rid of it.
He couldn’t stop beating himself up for all of it, your death, the fight. You had died before they had figured out a way to save you, to keep you out of Vecna’s grasp, and it killed him. Killed him to know that he had the ability to do it, he just didn’t know it soon enough, and worst of all he hadn’t forgiven himself for it, for not trying harder to save you. And he wondered if he ever would.
You had left the box lying on his bed, the day you died, no note, no warning, just the box. He refused to open it, fear of what was inside, consuming his very being. A part of him thought that if he did, that If he opened it, he would finally be admitting to himself that you had died and that he would never see you again, and he couldn’t accept that. So he did what he did best, shelved it, and pretended like it didn't haunt him. Walking past it every day, ignoring the sizable amount of guilt that filled him as he did.
Today he couldn’t, not anymore. Eddie walked over to his bookcase, gently pulling the old Vans shoebox off the shelf, as he made his way to the living room. He set it down in the center of the coffee table and stared at it. Wondering if by some chance it would explode and claim him, bringing him to you once again. He closed his eyes, stopping the tears before they had even begun. It was time. Taking a deep breath he pushes back the top, revealing the contents inside.
It wasn’t what he expected, cassette tapes, and on top, your very own walkman. He recognized it immediately, It had always been glued to your hip every waking moment. He couldn’t remember a time when you didn’t have it on, the headphones framing your perfect face. A folded piece of paper sat underneath the walkman that had his name written perfectly on it.
He closes the box, running his hands over his face and through his hair, ignoring the nagging feeling in the pit of his stomach. Getting up and walking to the fridge, grabbing out the first beer he finds, he cracks it open, glaring at the box from the comfort of the kitchen, anxiously tapping his ring against the glass bottle.
Despite thinking that he had the strength, the will to do it, it started to dawn on him that maybe he didn’t. He still wasn’t ready to say goodbye.
After a few hours of pacing, trying to do anything but think of you, he decides to give it another go, making his way back to the cursed spot on the couch, and opening the box once more.
Grabbing the piece of paper with shaky hands, he takes a deep breath, unfolding it to see your neat handwriting. With another deep breath, he begins to read,
Hey Cutie,
I give it about four months before you open this box, maybe even more until you read this letter. So, listen, In this box, there are a few tapes, each one labeled with a date, and I know you’re at least smart enough to put them in order before giving them a listen, however, I have already cued up the first one for you, so you’re welcome. I’m not going to tell you what's on them, that's for you to figure out, but I hope that you do. Anyway, tiger, I’ll let you get to it.
He’s not sure how long he's been staring at the note, memorizing the way your curl your ‘y’ in every sentence, or the way each ‘i’ has a heart over it instead of a dot, but it’s long enough for his legs to get sore, and his eyes to burn. He sets the note down, picking up your walkman and running his fingers over all the stickers, tracing the buttons with his thumb. With another deep breath, he placed the headphones over his ears and pressed play. Closing his eyes and resting his head against the back of the couch. At first, nothing, and then it plays, Everybody Wants to Rule The World. His pulse quickens and he feels like he’s sinking into the couch when he hears your melodic voice over the music.
“Everybody Wants to Rule The Word….didn’t we Eddie? Hey handsome, do you remember this song, I guess I mean more importantly do you remember what the song signifies?” You chuckle, and his heart wrenches at the sound. “September 16th, 1985, the day I met you,” Eddie fights the urge to pull the headphones off and chuck them across the room. “Do you remember that? That day?” Of course, he remembered, how could he not. It was the day he met you, the love of his life. Sitting in a booth at Andy’s Frozen Custard, all alone.
“Andy’s, booth four, 1:35 pm. I had been stood up by Colin Jacobson and was fighting back the urge to cry. I had forgotten my walkman, my only saving grace, and was contemplating on what I did wrong..”
“Nothing, you did nothing wrong,” Eddie mumbles out loud as if you could somehow hear him, and perhaps you could.
“I often thought it was a miracle that I was so desperately waiting for Colin to show because when that bell above the door went off, I probably wouldn’t have looked up, and then who knows if you would have even noticed me.” he scoffs, knowing damn well that he would have seen you, how could he not have, you were the prettiest girl, sitting all alone in a booth, you were an attention grabber. “It’s still crazy to me that you did what you did..” you trail off, humming along to the beat.
Eddie had spotted you, tracing the checkered pattern of the table with your finger. No ice cream in hand, nothing but a sullen look on your face, and he wondered to himself how on earth someone so beautiful could be so sad. When you looked up at him, he could swear his heart skipped several beats, your eyes meeting his and the corners of your lips turning up in a smile before your cheeks turned rosy and you looked away. It would have been a lie to say that he hadn’t tried to get your attention again, doing whatever he could think of to grab your attention just once more. It wasn’t until he nearly tripped over a child running by that he caught your gaze again, and by that time his surprise had been ruined.
“You just slid into my booth, with a strawberry milkshake and two straws, bold of you. You didn’t even have to say anything…God my heart melted. You just handed me the straw and winked.” Eddie can't help but smile, feeling the tears slowly trickling down his cheeks. “Somehow you always knew how to make things better, how to make me feel better…god I wish-” You stop mid-sentence, sniffling trying your best to hide the pain you were in, and yet Eddie knew what you were going to say. You were going to tell him that you wished that he was there with you, by your side as you made these tapes. Holding you close telling you that everything was going to be okay, that you didn’t need to make these at all, because you wouldn’t have a reason to, or at least that's what he hoped you would have said.
Eddie handed you the straw, followed by a wink that sent butterflies erupting throughout you. “Sorry I’m late sweetheart,” he smiled. He doesn’t know what compelled him to say it, but seeing you, sitting here, he felt like he had been saying it to you his whole life. You fight to suppress the smile that inevitably took over your lips.
“It’s okay, handsome. You had never been so bold, but much like him, it felt right..comfortable. You plucked the straw from his hand, and plopped it straight into the shake, taking a long sip before he could do anything. As if on cue the music changed, and ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’ started playing.
“Oh I love this song,” you exclaimed as you being to hum along to it, blissfully unaware of just how hard he was falling for you in that moment. He just sat back, watching the way you found a way to dance in that small booth, with a smile on his face. He never asked you why you were alone, looking so down, and that was perhaps because it changed as soon as he sat down, but to him, all that mattered was that he was able to make you smile. Once you noticed the way he was looking at you, your cheeks flushed, and you hid your face behind a napkin.
“Wow, even hiding behind a napkin, you are still the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen.” he chuckles, sliding the milkshake over to his side of the table. Taking a long-drawn-out sip as he waited for you to show your face again, and once you did, he couldn't help the smile.
“I will never understand why you sat down with me, smiling as you’d known me, but I’m glad you did because that was all it took Eddie, your cute smile, the strange way that you knew just what to say, the strawberry shake… just you. You had me immediately, there was no way I could fight it, I was yours...and you didn’t even have to ask.”
The song ends and the tape clicks off. Eddie’s eyes shoot open, overwhelmed, numb, and yet desperate for more. He leans forward, searching through the box, and grabbing out the next tape:
Tumblr media
He puts it in the walkman and presses play instantly, waiting to hear your voice once more. Leaning back again, letting his eyes fall closed.
“I see you’ve made it to the next tape, I’m proud of you.” Only You starts to play, and it takes him slightly by surprise, he wasn’t entirely sure what this song correlated to. “I know you are probably wondering what the hell this song has to do with anything, and truth be told I don’t imagine that you would know, considering I only ever listened to it by myself.” you take a deep breath, “September 24th, 1985, a few days after our first encounter. The date better sound familiar to you now, because if it doesn't, we have some problems, Eddie.” You chuckle softly, and it breaks his heart, hearing you imply that if he had forgotten the date, things would end badly for him. Lucky him he remembered it, fondly. “Our first date, which also just so happens to be the first time we kissed too. God, I swear if you forgot…” Your tone held a sense of warning, but he could hear the way you were breaking.
“We’re not supposed to be here Eddie, this is private property!” you teased him as you climbed over the gate, he wasn’t sure at first if you were being serious but seeing you making it to the other side of the fence, smile growing on your lips, he had a growing suspicion that you were just fucking with him. Rolling his eyes, he climbs over the gate after you, nearly losing his footing as he lands. You would have sworn he did it on purpose, just so he could stumble into you and have you catch him. If it was the case, you didn’t mind it, in fact, a part of you preferred that story. Eddie on the other hand was just clumsy. Eddie grabbed your hand, pulling you along with him as you made your way past the security station, climbing over the turnstiles. “Should I be concerned that you are a natural at this?” he asks, gesturing around you. You had never done something like this, at least not on a larger scale. Breaking and entering wasn’t a frequent recurrence of yours. Silently, you just shrug, your brows shooting up and a cheeky grin forming on your lips, the very lips that he hadn’t been able to stop staring at. “I think if anyone should be concerned it's me, this was your idea, and for a first date nonetheless.” You chuckle. “Yeah well I had to go big or go home,” he smiles wildly.
“You probably didn’t know this but that was the first date I had gone on in a while, I mean unless you count the one where I got stood up. Anyway, I  was so unbelievably nervous, in fact, my palms were so sweaty I was mortified,”
Eddie smiles, wondering if you knew how nervous he had been because he imagined it was nothing compared to what he was feeling that day. Having to constantly fight the urge to kiss you every time you looked at him, or every time you laughed, or to be honest, after every time you did anything.
Eddie pulled you into full view of the baseball stadium in all its glory, standing at the very back looking down at the desolate field, the whole thing just for you. Heat crept to your cheeks, and your lips did their best to hide the smile. Eyes wide, mesmerized by it all. It wasn’t the fact that it was done up in any way, but more the fact that he had brought you somewhere that you two could claim as your spot, somewhere no one would think to look for you, a perfect spot for you and him. Little did you know it would become just that, your spot. Too entranced by it all to notice that Eddie wasn’t taking in the same view as you, but rather admiring you, your smile, the way your hair frames your face, the way your mouth hung open just slightly drawing attention to your perfect lips. He was gawking at you.
“It's beautiful..” you murmured, “Indeed.” You pull your gaze away to look at him, who instantly pretended, poorly might you add, that he hadn’t been staring at you the entire time.
“The entire night was just..” you pause, “magical.” you sigh.
“No, that's the big dipper,” you argue. Eddie shakes his head dramatically, “Absolutely not, I have never  seen someone be so confident in such a wrong answer.” You prop yourself up on your elbow, staring down at him, wondering if somehow you were in fact wrong and had just made a fool out of yourself, only to see that his eyes were closed. “You’re not even looking!” you giggle, playfully slap his chest, leaving your hand to linger there. Eddie, being the eccentric person that he is, grunts, tongue resting out the side of his mouth as if you had just killed him, and you can’t help but laugh. He opens his eyes at hearing the sweet sound of your laughter. His tongue runs across his bottom lip as he grins at you.
“Gahhh, you had me thinking I was dumb,” you remark, eyes narrowing on him. “Oh well we can’t have that I’m afraid, it simply will not do, madam.”
His hand slowly comes to meet yours, resting on his chest. He wraps his hand around your, his thumb grazing the top of it gently. It was taking every fiber in his being not to grab you and kiss you. Perhaps that's what you wanted, but his head was spinning, he couldn’t think straight, and there was no way for him to know for sure. Luckily, you knew exactly what you wanted, him. Without hesitation you lower your face down to him, your lips grazing his, as your eyes fall closed. “Aren’t you going to kiss me?” you ask, your soft lips pressing to the corner of his mouth. His hand comes up and cradles the back of your neck, pulling you down as his lips lock with yours. Gentle, slow, and perfect. There was no denying the butterflies that erupted in your stomach, as his tongue skimmed your bottom lip, begging for entrance, that you would undoubtedly give. Tongues swirling around each other, head spinning, faces flushed, you were in heaven. Eddie pulls away from you, resting his forehead against yours, both of you smiling against each other's lips. Perfect and yet not enough. Eddie draws you back in, his lips catching yours once more but this time with more hunger, more passion. Tilting his head, he adds more pressure, deepening the kiss. As his arm wraps around you, flipping you onto your back, a moan leaves you. Eddie can’t help but smile into the kiss. His hand grips tightly to your hip, and your legs intertwine as he cages you. His tongue meets yours once more, dancing with your own. Needy hands start to roam your body, dipping under the thin fabric of your shirt, hungrily moving up your sides. The rings adorning his fingers, cold against your heated skin as they move further up your body. Your hands come up to tangle in his hair, urging him to continue with it all. You feel his hand hesitate just under your breast, and you encourage him by a tug of his hair, and a nip at his bottom lip.
His hand cups your breast, thumb running over your hardened nipple. Your body shutters at the touch, shivers jutting up your spine. You had never felt so desperate, so needy for someone, but for Eddie, you were both.
“I still can’t believe that I panicked and pushed you off! God, I wanted to go further that night, I know I never told you that, but it’s the truth…I’m sorry..”
Eddie chuckles to himself. To this day he had wondered if he had made the wrong move, touched you too quickly, or grabbed you in the wrong place. He never minded it though, he enjoyed every moment of that night and wouldn’t have changed any of it.
“Anyway, this song was what I played for months after that night.. constantly repeating: Only you and you alone can thrill me like you do, and fill my heart with love for only you:” you sing the lyrics. “Baby, it's you, and it will always be you.”
The tape clicks off and Eddie doesn’t move. He sits in silence too afraid to play the next one. He hates that it's come to this, having to hear your voice in such a way instead of hearing it in person. Hates that he can’t hold you in his arms and just talk, just feel you close to him. The numbness starts to set in as he starts to picture you there with him. Cuddled up against him on the couch, your hand on his chest, like you, always used to do. God, he missed you. Missed every little thing about you.
After a few moments, he moves on to the next tape, pulling it out of the box and putting it in, pressing play instantly.
Tumblr media
As soon as the music starts he knows. Groaning at the song that he often claimed he hated, only to tease you, but truth be told he loved it.
“I can't fight this feeling any longer….And yet I'm still afraid to let it flow…What started out as friendship has grown stronger. You can claim all you want Eddie, that you hate this song but I know the truth! This will forever be your favorite song all thanks to me!”
“Never!” he calls out into the empty trailer. No matter what you said, he would never willingly admit the love he had for this song.
“I mean why shouldn’t it be, I only listened to it all the fucking time…I have to admit that I kinda did it to annoy the shit out of you, but I could tell it was getting to you..” you pause, clearly reminiscing about it. “Do you remember that time…” you tone holding a sense of suggestion to it, one that Eddie picked up on immediately.
There was no forgetting it, not when you played the damn song the whole entire day. It would forever be ingrained in his very being.
You had been walking around Eddie’s trailer, your trustee walkman glued to your hip, music far too loud to hear anything other than the same song on repeat. Each lyric fell from your lips as you danced around in his room. Eddie had been on the couch, studying for a test in Miss. O’Donnell’s. He had already shut you out for the hour, dead set on acing the test, well more like barely passing. He insisted you not bug him any further. He wouldn’t admit it, but you knew that the constant repetition of that song had him in a sore mood, so you had decided to give him a little bit of space, but not for long. Noticing Eddie’s hellfire club shirt resting on his dresser, you grab it, replacing your own clothes with the shirt. It rested nicely against your bare thighs, a sentiment you wondered if he’d enjoy.
Wandering out of his room, you spot him, hard at work. Your lips press into a thin line as you suppress your grin, an idea forming, one sure to rile him up. You start your song over, blasting it at full volume, as you begin to sing the lyrics. You watch his eyes fall closed, heaving a heavy sigh, as he looks up at you. The look of annoyance quickly fades to be one of surprise, and intrigue, one that he tries to hide. Except there was no way to hide the growing evidence in the confines of his jeans, luckily you couldn’t see it.
“I can't fight this feeling any longer….And yet I'm still afraid to let it flow…What started out as friendship has grown stronger….” You begin to sing, very pitchy and very off-key. It was enough to drive Eddie insane. He fights the urge to pay you any attention, as he turns back to his textbook. You laugh to yourself at the sight of his eyes wide, and his lips in a downturn. As you get closer to him, you begin to dance along to the music, swaying your hips along to the beat.
“Sweetheart, I swear to god…”  he warns, but you can’t hear him, too intent on annoying the hell out of him.
“You know that my favorite thing to do to you is to annoy every fiber in your body, It’s honestly an obsession of mine.” you chuckle. Eddie sighs, a soft smile forming on his lips as he recollects all the times that you did just that, there were far too many to count.
As you continue your dance, you notice him, stealing glances at you, his eyes drinking in every curve of your body, admiring the way his shirt fit you, the way it sat on your bare thighs, riding up with every step you took. You grab the bottom of the shirt, drawing it up your body and revealing your panties, watching the way he shamelessly licks his lips. He knew there was no way he was going to be able to finish studying, not when you were tempting him so, especially not if you kept singing that dumb song. Eddie throws his textbook aside, and leans back, this time giving you his full attention. “And if I have to crawl upon the floor, come crashing through your door...Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore!” you sing. He doesn’t know how you do it, manage to annoy him so, and yet at the same time make him fall for you even harder. Reaching out, Eddie grabs your arm, pulling you down onto his lap, taking your headphones off, and setting them on the coffee table. You can’t help the fit of laughter that hits you as you look into his dark brown eyes.
“You are driving me crazy,” he chuckles. You open your mouth to offer a rebuttal but you’re met with lips and tongue, silencing you immediately.
You don’t recollect moaning his name until your back meets the couch, Eddie on top of you, and your clothes gone. Your hands tangled in his hair as he worships every inch of you with his mouth. Claiming you in the ways that only he can. His fingers cling to the soft skin of your hips, holding you in place as he makes his descent down your body, his lips and uneven breath fanning across your burning skin sending shivers up your spine.
Your back bows at the feeling of his mouth, whimpers as his tongue glides along you, and sweet shocks of pleasure course through your veins. As you focused on the lapping of his tongue, the movements of his fingers, he was focused on the rise and fall of your chest, the breathy moans leaving your lips, the sudden jolts of your body. Nothing was as beautiful as you were at that moment. No amount of art or even music could bring him as much joy as you could.
“I should have done it more. If I would have known that's how you would react…god I would have done it all the damn time. I mean for crying out loud, that tongue of yours is truly magic.”
Truth be told, Eddie wished you had, wished that you still would. He would give anything for it now. To see you prance around in his clothes, completely engulfed in your own little world and blissfully unaware of everything around you. Even to hear you sing this song terribly, just to get at him. You were his breath of fresh air, and he needed you desperately, just like he did then.
Indescribable, the way he felt having you wrapped so tightly around him, your fingers gripping to him as if in a moment he would slip through them. Your head foggy as you move together in sync, sharing labored breaths as your lips graze each others. The coarseness; of his voice like music to your ears as he whispers words of encouragement, everything that you need to hear as he coaxes sinful sounds from you. His hand finds yours in the chaos, fingers intertwining with yours as he holds your hand above your head.
Crying out as the ache inside of you subsides and your release hits you, only to be swallowed by his lips, as he pushes you through it. Nothing but pure bliss as you feel him follow after you, filling you completely. He collapses on top of you, only to rest his head against yours, and pull you into an innocent kiss.
“I will say this, Eddie…I do believe this song is magic...I really do. I swear anytime I listen to it I'm instantly taken back to that exact moment; one I will never forget.”
The song fizzles out to a stop and Eddie’s eyes open. As he leans forward he notices one more tape and his heart wrenches. He’s not sure if he has the strength to listen to the last one, knowing that once he does, it’s done, you’re gone. He knows he can’t wait forever, not when he needs to hear your voice again. With a shaky breath, and trembling hands he puts in the last tape. Finger hovering over the play button.
“Come on Eddie,” he mutters. He runs his hand over his face, wishing that somehow it would wipe away every semblance of pain and dread from him. Finding the courage once more, he presses play and closes his eyes.

“March tenth, 1986, I got my acceptance letter to Columbia and told no one, I wasn’t going to tell anyone but you found out, ” you struggle, your voice soft and melancholy. Despite wanting to sound happy, alive, and well, you knew that it was just wishful thinking. “My father had no right to tell you, to make you feel like it was your fault because it wasn’t”
Eddie’s jaw tenses at the mention of your father. He had never liked Eddie, and he understood why, it was for this very reason, Eddie stood in the way of your dreams. He didn’t know it, not until your father told him, however.
Eddie stood in the doorframe of your parent's home, anxiously waiting for you to save him from the silence that your parents were giving him. They had never liked Eddie, and for what reason, he had no idea. He had never done anything to give them a reason to dislike him so, and yet they had found one of their own.
“Have you congratulated y/n yet?” your father asks, his eyes boring straight through Eddie. With a nervous chuckle and a faulty smile, Eddie’s left to ask what he means.
“Columbia, she got her acceptance letter…Did she not tell you?”
He could feel the color draining from his face at the words. He’d had no idea that you had even applied anywhere other than the University of Indiana.
“She told us she wasn’t going to accept,” your mother chimes in.
Eddie had a strong feeling that they were implying that it was his fault, that because of him you weren’t going to go to Columbia. At one point Eddie might have fought them on it, told them that it was your choice and that he had no weight in the matter, but something told him that was wrong. Something told him he was the exact reason you weren’t going. His jaw tenses, as he stares at the staircase, waiting for you to come down, and if on cue, you do. Rushing down with a smile on your face.
“Hey, babe!” you say, rushing over to kiss his cheek. He doesn’t know why but he can't seem to find the words to say anything to you, but you were far too happy to notice. You say your goodbyes, kissing your father's cheek and blowing a kiss to your mother before you drag Eddie out of the house.
“It has been haunting me, the fact that we haven’t talked about it…not sure that we will ever get the chance, but..” You mumble the last bit and it's like daggers in his heart. It had been one of the very reasons he had been beating himself up since you died. You had never fought, never disagreed on anything meaningfully. It killed him knowing that he had been so cold to you, angry that you could keep something from him. What hurt more was that he never wanted to talk about it, you both just let it hang in the air acting as though it wasn’t there, as it silently tore you both apart.
“I guess now is my chance..”
“Columbia! When were you going to tell me? Or better yet, were you even going to tell me?” Eddie asks, his tone harsh as he paces back and forth in the trailer.
“No, I wasn’t going to tell you, because it doesn’t matter, Eddie! I’m not going..” you shout at him. You were fuming, you had wondered why the entire drive he had been so quiet, so distant. And now you knew. “You know what, Eddie, I really don’t see the problem here?”
He stops in his tracks, turning to look at you, eyes narrowed and cold, something you had never seen from him before. “The problem is you are throwing away everything you have worked for, every dream that you’ve had to stay here in this shithole with me! If you fucking think that I would ever let that happen, you’re delusional. I could never live with myself knowing that the only reason you’d stay is because of me. I’m not worth all of that.”
You stand up, tears burning in your eyes as you approach him. “You don’t get to say that. I’m not just staying for you, I’m staying for me,” you argue. Eddie takes a deep breath, suddenly unable to meet your eyes.
“No you’re not, because if you were you would never have had applied, nor would you be keeping it from me! Did you think that I want this for you, want you to be stuck in a town with no opportunities, a town that's cursed and sick? Do you really think that I would ever allow that?” He retorts.
You scoff, taking a step back, “Allow!? Eddie, you don’t control me, I make my own choices same as you, It is my choice on whether or not I stay. You don’t get to take that away from me, you don’t get to push me away.”
You sniffle, crossing your arms over your chest as a sense of security. You’d be lying to say that anxiety wasn’t building inside you, worrying about where this conversation would inevitably end.
“Sweetheart, I can’t let you throw away everything you’ve ever cared about for me, not when there is so much more out there for you. You have to go, you have to go and live your life without me,” he says sternly.
The tears break free from your eyes as you ball up your fist and hit it against his chest. “Don’t say that! You’re the one making me give up the only thing I care about. You.”
He doesn’t say anything, doesn't look at you, because somewhere in his mind he knew it was the truth. You would never achieve anything in this dumpy old town, and especially not with him. He also knew that if he looked at you, crying into his chest, desperately clinging to him for comfort, he would give in, and he couldn’t.
“You have to.” was all he said.
That had been the only discussion that you’d had about it. Leaving you both broken and unsure of the future. You had told him that you would go, both of you knowing it wasn’t the truth. It had come to the point where you both danced around the whole thing in general, neither one of you bringing it up again. It pushed you apart, leaving a void in both of you.
“The truth is Eddie, nothing you were ever going to say was going to make me change my mind. I had it made up from the very beginning. I only applied to please my parents, and sure a part of me wondered if I would get in, but in the end, it didn’t matter. I wasn’t going to leave you. You are my future,” you choke. He could hear the way you were trying to silence the sobs that were leaving you. The way your voice quivered as you said future. Tears stream down his cheeks at the thought. To him, you had always been his future, his everything. He wanted to build a life with you, a family, an adventure just for the two of you. He wanted to spend his days making you happy. It had always been the plan, and in his own twisted way, pushing you away was his way of doing that. He thought that if it was meant to be, you would always come back to him, but in your mind, you would never leave him, because it was meant to be.
“You are my everything, Eddie. I hate that we fought, we never did until then and it killed me. It killed me to know that you thought that I could just leave you, I would never leave you by choice, never…”
You take a deep breath, doing your best to collect yourself. “I hate that I never got the chance to say it, but I love you, Eddie Munson. I don’t know why it took me so damn long to say it, especially not since I knew it from the moment you slid into my booth, but I am saying it now. I love you, and I will always love you. No matter what you do, or how hard you try to push me away, Always.”
Eddie didn’t think his heart could break anymore until he heard you say it. It had always been an unspoken thing between the two of you, you knew he loved you and he knew you loved him, but hearing you say it meant so much more. He gasps, releasing the breath that he didn’t know he had been holding, his heart racing and his head reeling as he tries to calm himself. His hand clutched his chest, desperately trying to cease the pain he was feeling.
“I’m sorry I never told you about Columbia. I never thought that I’d have to, as selfish as that sounds.  Also, I’m sorry if these tapes are causing you pain, I didn’t want that, but I didn’t know if I would ever get the chance to tell you this in person. I don’t blame you for anything, and I don’t want you to blame yourself for anything either, I know you will and I need you to promise me that you won’t. “Promise me, Eddie…say it..”
“I promise sweetheart.” he breaths, wiping the tears away with his hand.
“Eddie, baby, I need you to do something for me, and I know you are going to object, but I need you too,” you pause, letting out a small chuckle. “I need you to live your life, don’t throw it away. I need you to graduate and continue to make music and do whatever else it is that your heart desires. I need you to open yourself up to someone else, to fall in love, and to let someone fall in love with you the way I did. I can’t have you missing me always and missing out on all the great opportunities that I know are going to come your way. “So here it is, I chose these songs because they’re my favorites. They remind me of you, of all the moments we shared, all the laughs, kisses, tears…To me, they are the perfect narrative of our story.. I chose them because no matter where you are, I will always have them, and therefore I will always have a part of you. ”You stole my heart from day one, with your bold comments and eccentric attitude, your inability to ever stop talking about the things you love, or in general. You made my life so much better than what it would have been if you had never walked through Andy’s door, and for that, I have to say thank you. Promise me you won’t miss me too much, just be happy, god, please just be happy.”
There’s a long pause and Eddie wonders if it's the end of the tape if those were your last words until he hears it once more. That damn song falling from your lips once again, but this time it’s not pitchy, it's not annoying, it’s bittersweet.
“My life has been such a whirlwind since I saw you…I've been running round in circles in my mind...And it always seems that I'm following you, girl…'Cause you take me to the places that, alone, I'd never find..And even as I wander, I'm keeping you in sight…You're a candle in the window on a cold, dark winter's night...And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might..And I can't fight this feeling anymore…”
The tape stops, and a tear falls down his cheek as he stares at the box before him. There was never a doubt in his mind that you were the one for him, his soulmate, and even though you were gone, he’d always have a part of you left. He pulls off the headset, places it gently in the box once more, and closes the lid. Even though it still hurt to say goodbye to you, he felt he would be okay, knowing he still had you by his side, always.

A/N: This is based on two real experiences I had when I was younger. It's incredibly self-indulgent, but has also been wonderful for my healing process. I hope it can help someone else, too. (Also, sorry if it's rambly; it was cathartic but also emotionally difficult to write).

As the last swimmer exits through the iron gates, you breathe a sigh of relief at the end of another shift. Lifeguarding at Hawkins Community Pool wasn’t necessarily a difficult job, but it sure was tedious. Your flip-flops thwap against the pavement as you pad into the locker room to get dressed, skin sticky from sunscreen and that infamous mid-July humidity.
“So,” Heather says, twisting her blonde hair into a ponytail as she changes from her swimsuit into shorts and a t-shirt, “you ready to hear that secret?”
You nod enthusiastically. It’s all you’d been thinking about since you’d climbed down the lifeguard tower when her watch duty began, and she’d whispered that she had something to say to you privately.
Heather’s eyes gleam as she announces, “Billy told me he thinks you’re hot!” She claps her hands together excitedly. “Not that he needed to; anyone can watch him check you out all day long,” she adds with a smirk.
“Me?” you ask incredulously, unable to muffle your surprise. On instinct, you wrap your arms around your waist protectively. Heather might be comfortable changing in public, but your own body insecurities made it torturous for you to even be naked privately.
“Yes, you!” your co-worker giggles. “You should talk to him.”
You’re still mulling over the prospect of Billy Hargrove being into you when your ride pulls up to the pool gates. Waving goodbye to Heather, you hop in the passenger seat of Eddie’s van. He picks you up every night you work, and the two of you always split a joint in your backyard before he heads back to the trailer park. It makes your crappy summer job all worth it; God knows the pay isn’t even going to cover your textbooks when you go back to college in August.
“Save any little gremlins today?” he jokes, turning down his music so he can hear your answer.
You shake your head and laugh. “Nah, just yelled, ‘no running!’ about 84 times.” Leaning back in the seat and stretching your legs, you glance over at him. “But Heather told me something interesting.” Eddie cocks his eyebrow, and you take that as a sign to continue. “Apparently, Billy Hargrove thinks I’m hot.” You can’t help the smile that spreads across your face. Sure, he’s not exactly your knight in shining armor, but he’s an attractive guy who has a thing for you.
“Oh, ew.” Eddie wrinkles his nose. “Please describe the look on that douche canoe’s face when you turn him down.”
“Who says I’m turning him down?” you quip, crossing your arms over your chest.
Your best friend sighs. “Well, you should,” he says pointedly, never one to mince words. “Guys like Hargrove only want to get in a girl’s pants and then find a new victim.”
“Why are you being such a bummer?” you snap. Eddie just keeps his eyes on the road, oblivious to your glare. “If Jeff was about to get laid, you’d be throwing him a goddamn parade!”
He chuckles tersely. “That’s because Jeff getting laid would be a fuckin’ miracle.”
You look around, exaggerating your movements for emphasis. “Well, asshole, I don’t exactly see a line of people forming to sleep with me, either.” With that, you pull your knees to your chest and turn your body so that your back is to him.
The car is silent, save for the sounds of Metallica’s Ride the Lightning album crackling through the speakers. After what seems like an eternity, Eddie pulls into your driveway and throws the van in park.
“Did…did you still wanna smoke?” he asks quietly, twiddling with a loose thread on the ripped knee of his jeans.
“Nope.” You jump out of the van, slamming the door shut behind you. “And you don’t have to drive me home tomorrow. I bet Billy will do it.”
You hear him calling your name as you stalk into your house. Honestly, you could really use some weed right now, but you’re too infuriated at him to push it all aside for a quick smoke session.
The next day, you make a point to sit next to Billy when you take your break. He’s smoking a cigarette, occasionally flicking ash into a chipped tray on the table.
“Can I bum one?” you ask, pointing to the rolled tobacco between his plush lips.
Billy smirks, reaching for the pack of Marlboros and holding it out to you. “Didn’t peg you for a smoker, sugar.” He passes you his lighter, and you spark up and inhale deeply.
“I usually prefer something greener, but this’ll do.” You take another drag, trying to work up the nerve to say what’s on your mind. As the smoke curls around your mouth, you notice Billy’s eyes trail down the curves of your body, as though he’s trying to drink you in. “Something I can help you with, Hargrove?” you tease, impressed with the way you easily flirt with him. It’s so unlike you, but it feels good.
“Yeah,” he says, chuckling softly. “You can hang with me tonight. Got the place to myself, so, y’know…” He trails off and raises his eyebrows, looking at you expectantly.
Your stomach flip-flops despite yourself. This is what you want, right? No more waiting around for Prince Charming to sweep you off your feet. It’s not going to happen, never going to happen, not when you look the way you do. And if a gorgeous man like Billy Hargrove is actually willing to have sex with you, you’re in no position to turn him down. “O-Okay,” you stammer, hoping he doesn’t sense your nervousness. “I’m working till nine tonight; is that–”
“Perfect,” he interrupts, flashing you a megawatt smile. “I finish at six, but I’ll stick around just for you, pretty thing.”
Pretty. He called you pretty, and he wants you. Wants you enough to hang out at work for an extra three hours just to be with you.
The rest of your shift drags by; all you can think about is Billy. The way he feels, the way he tastes, what he looks like underneath those swim trunks.
The only problem is that he’ll also want to see you naked. The thought sours your mood. You try not to catch glimpses of yourself in the bathroom mirror after you get out of the shower, and now you’re about to let him see you, completely vulnerable.
Stop being such a baby, you scold yourself. Beggars can’t be choosers.
Billy’s waiting outside the locker room once your shift ends. He takes your hand in his larger, stronger one, and leads you to his car.
“Seems kinda silly, getting changed out of that cute little swimsuit,” he whispers in your ear, sending shivers down your spine, “when you’re gonna get undressed again so soon.” He leans you up against the passenger door, pinning your hips back and kissing you hungrily. One hand roams under your t-shirt to the swell of your breasts, breaking away when he feels the fabric of your bra. “You tryin’ to hide these from me, sugar?” He starts to reach for the clasp, but you stand up a bit straighter.
“Did you wanna, like, grab something to eat?” you ask shyly. “We can stop by Benny’s on the way to yours if…if you like burgers?” You cringe as the words leave your lips. Could you sound any more pathetic?
Billy just chuckles patronizingly. “That sounds like a date, and, uh, I don’t do dates.” He leans in, taking your earlobe between his teeth. “But I do other stuff real well.”
Something isn’t right. This isn’t what you want, but you should want it, and so you push down the apprehension and try to focus on the man in front of you. “That’s fine,” you murmur, even though it isn’t. People have casual sex all the time. It doesn’t mean he’s any less attracted to you. Like he said, he’s not the dating type, so why cause problems where none exist?
“I don’t know if I can wait until we get to mine,” he growls, and you can practically taste the spearmint gum that he was chewing earlier. “Might just have to do you in the backseat, hm?”
You nod as he opens the door for you, pretending for a millisecond to be a gentleman. He clambors in behind you and slams it shut, pulling you onto his lap so you’re straddling his waist. You can feel his erection pressed against your clothed sex, and you allow yourself to smile. You did this to him. You got him hard. Not Chrissy Cunningham, or Heather, or Bo Derek. You.
He starts to take off your shirt, but you push his hands away. “Something wrong?” he asks, giving an exasperated sigh. Did you already fuck this up?
“N-No, it’s just…” you avert your gaze, too embarrassed to make eye contact. “Could I keep my shirt on? I don’t really like my body, and I’d just feel better if I didn’t, um, take it off.” Heat blazes behind your cheeks, and you will yourself not to cry.
“For fuck’s sake,” Billy grumbles under his breath, flexing his biceps as he stretches. He lets his hands fall to your ass with a soft smack. “You got me all worked up, and now you’re not even gonna let me see your tits?”
You duck your head in shame. “I’m kinda insecure about the way I look,” you admit, hoping it will soften his heart. Though kinda is an understatement.
He rolls his eyes, running his tongue over his teeth impatiently. “Y’know,” he finally says, squeezing the plush of your ass, “you might feel better about yourself if you got naked for me.”
You inhale sharply; that’s not at all what you expected him to say. Maybe something reassuring; something about how much he liked the way you look. Instead, he’s clearly irritated with your hesitation.
“M-Maybe.” It’s worth a shot, and you slowly peel off your top and unhook your bra, letting it fall to the floor of the car. You watch anxiously as his eyes flit across your bare chest, waiting for his reaction. An indication that he just has to have you and only you.
Instead, he clicks his tongue and simply says, “not bad.” He fumbles with your shorts button before unfastening his own. He strokes his cock lazily, staring at you. “Touch yourself, sugar. Get yourself ready f’me.”
There’s something screaming at you that this isn’t right; he should at least attempt to get you off instead of asking you to do the work for him. But you do as you’re told, not wanting to humiliate yourself further.
You shimmy out of your shorts, pushing your panties aside and rubbing slow, timid circles around your clit. You’ve done this plenty of times to know what feels good, yet you can’t seem to get it right when it counts. Billy doesn’t notice—or care—that the moans floating past your lips are fake, and he lines himself up with your entrance.
“Condom?” you remind him, and he rolls his eyes again.
“Doesn’t feel as good,” he grumbles, but he reaches into his wallet and pulls out the square piece of foil and tears it open, sliding the rubber over his thick cock. He pushes into you, not bothering to take his time as he ruts up. “Move your hips for me,” he tells you. “Bounce up and down; damn, do I gotta walk you through everything?”
Tears prickle at your eyes, and you manage to blink them away before he can see. Maybe this’ll get easier with time, you think. Maybe I’m just too nervous. You will yourself to relax, holding onto his broad shoulders as you lean down to kiss him.
“Feels good, yeah?” Billy grunts, and you nod as you zone out. You throw out a few more half-hearted whines as his hips stutter against your pelvis and he spills into the condom. “Fuck, there ya go, take it,” he croons, sweat trickling down his forehead. As soon as he rides out his orgasm, he’s hoisting you off of him so he can clean himself up. “Same time tomorrow?”
“Yeah, sure.” You try to sound enthusiastic. “Could you, um, drive me home?”
“Whatever,” he shrugs, but waits for you to put your clothes back on and climb into the passenger seat.
He wants to do this again tomorrow, meaning he wasn’t completely repulsed by your body. So everything should be good, right?
The next week and a half is filled with lust-fueled backseat romps, usually ending with Billy coming and you…well, returning home to use your trusty vibrator. You’re starting to feel a bit more comfortable, but not in your own skin. It’s more that there’s a certain power behind Billy choosing you when he could be with literally anyone else. You hold your head a little higher, walk a little taller. Even your parents notice on your weekend trip to visit your grandparents in Indianapolis, though you didn’t clue them in on the source of your newfound confidence.
When you get back to the pool that Monday, you’re about to whisper in Billy’s ear to ask if he has a second to “check out a situation in the locker room” with you. What you find stops you dead in your tracks.
His arm is wrapped around Heather. They’re laughing together and she presses her lips to his cheek; he tilts her chin so he can kiss her passionately. It’s more tender, more loving than the way he kisses you.
The ground starts to spin, and you grab onto a plastic chair to steady yourself. As soon as Heather walks away, you march over to Billy.
“What the fuck?” you hiss, trying to keep your volume down. You wince as your voice cracks, giving away the sadness tucked inside your frustration. “Are you with Heather now? Like, with her?”
“Uh, guess so,” Billy replies snidely, twirling a toothpick between his teeth.
You bite your lower lip, willing yourself not to cry. “I thought you said you weren’t the dating type?”
He shrugs. “Just kinda happened,” he says nonchalantly, as if he didn’t just destroy your world. “You were away, she asked me to go to Scoops and grab some ice cream; one thing led to another, and…” he trails off. “Not like you and I were exclusive or some shit.”
“Because you didn’t wanna be!”
“And why do you think that is, huh?” Billy shoots back. “Why do you think I’d rather be with Heather than with you?” He scoffs, leaning back in his chair slightly. “You’re so goddamn uptight, y’know? Always worrying about the way you look, about people seeing us in the car. Heather just…goes with the flow. I can’t deal with someone so high-maintenance. Actually, most guys can’t.” With that, he storms out of the break room, leaving you trembling.
A wave of nausea washes over you as you slump down in a seat. All you wanted was to be wanted, and you blew it. Billy’s right; your insecurities keep you unloveable.
You try to take deep breaths, letting the tears slip down your cheeks. Your shift doesn’t start for another ten minutes, so you pray that you’re able to collect yourself before you’re due to start your watch. You’re sobbing too hard to notice the two boys peering into the lounge, watching you with growing concern before dashing to the nearest payphone.
You slide on your sunglasses to hide your red, puffy eyes. The last thing you need is people asking you what’s wrong. Just as you’re about to walk over to the lifeguard stand–to switch with Billy, of all people–you feel a tap on your shoulder.
Eddie.
“Um, hey,” he mumbles, scratching the back of his head nervously. “Will and Dustin called; said they saw Hargrove yelling at you, and you crying. Told me to ‘get my scrawny ass here, stat.’” He gives a terse chuckle. “Exact quote, by the way.”
You want to wrap your arms around him and never let go, but you remember what he said to you. Worse, that he was right. “‘M fine,” you lie, and Eddie sees right through it.
He gingerly takes off your sunglasses, heart breaking as he gets a glimpse of your tearful expression. “C’mere,” he says, pulling you in for a tight hug and pressing a soft kiss to the top of your head. It’s so tender, sweet, and selfless. It’s Eddie.
“Go tell your boss that you’re not feeling well, yeah?” he says finally, still not letting you go. “We can go grab something to eat, and you can tell me everything.”
“‘M not hungry,” you shake your head, “and I just wanna go home.” Your voice is whiny, but you’re too sad to care.
“Okay, well, you’re still leaving,” Eddie insists, and you don’t have the energy to argue. “The sheep,” he gestures to where Dustin and Will are standing, and they wave as though they’ve been caught, “will tell your boss that you’re sick. Lady problems or whatever.” You feel his fingers intertwine with yours as he leads you to his van. “And you can tell me as much as you want, ‘kay?”
You nod wordlessly as Eddie gives the younger kids a thumbs-up. He normally chooses the music, whether he’s the driver or the passenger, but this time, he tilts his chin towards the radio and says, “all yours.”
You turn the dial until you hear a Fleetwood Mac song, expecting Eddie to crack a joke or complain about your selection, but he just taps the steering wheel to the beat. When he drives to a gas station to fill up his tank, you don’t think anything of it until he comes back out with a bag full of Haagen-Daaz.
“Got all your favorite flavors,” he announces, plopping back into the driver’s seat. “I know you said you’re not hungry, but you will be at some point. So…sustenance.”
A smile tugs at your lips, and you manage a small “thanks,” as he drives you back to your place. When he pulls into the driveway, he waits awkwardly for you to say anything else.
Finally, he breaks the silence by handing you the bag from the Shell station. “Don’t want this to melt,” he offers lamely, frowning when you burst into a fresh round of tears. You hear him mutter, “that’s it,” and he kills the engine, jumping out of the van to run to your side. “Up and at ‘em.” He pulls you out of your seat, scooping you up and flinging you over his shoulder with ease. He kicks the van door closed, walking to your front door before setting you down.
“That’s my favorite method of transportation,” you giggle softly, and he breathes a sigh of relief as your humor peeks through.
“Save a horse, ride a Munson, right?” he jokes back, blushing when he realizes the double entendre he just made. “Uh, anyway, I can leave if you want…” He stuffs his hands into his back pockets nervously.
“You can come in,” you say, unlocking the door. He follows you, heading straight for the kitchen and grabbing two spoons from the drawer.
“Figured we could start with cookie dough,” he says, holding out the pint. “Ladies first.”
The two of you sit on the couch in comfortable silence as you dig into dessert. Halfway through, you look up at him through misty eyes. “I’m waiting for the ‘I told you so,’” you say softly.
“Huh?”
You tell Eddie everything: Billy’s claim that he wanted something casual, his reaction to you asking to keep your shirt on, the venom he spewed earlier today. “I never should’ve trusted him.”
But Eddie’s seeing red, fists clenched and jaw squared in pure rage. “The fuck did he say?” He stands up so quickly that he nearly knocks over the pint of ice cream.
“Where are you going?”
“To kick his sorry ass!” Eddie exclaims, grabbing his keys from the table where he tossed them.
“He’s not worth it,” you tell him. “Just…can you stay here and eat ice cream with me? Please?”
“Fine,” Eddie grumbles, plopping back down next to you. “But I still wanna punch him in the face.”
“You and me both,” you agree, taking another spoonful before posing the question you’ve been too afraid to ask. “Do you think I’m a slut?”
Eddie nearly chokes on his bite of cookie dough. “A slut? Because you slept with some douchebag?”
“No,” you say quietly, “for having sex with someone because I wanted to feel beautiful.”
His whole body deflates. “That’s why you…why wouldn’t you think you’re beautiful?”
You bark out a tense laugh. “Where to start? Um, my face, my hair, my body…oh, and apparently, now I’m too insecure and uptight to love, so…”
Eddie cradles your face between his strong, calloused hands. “Listen to me,” he says. “You are the most goddamn beautiful person on this Earth. Your eyes…I could stare into them all day. You have the cutest nose I’ve ever seen. Your smile makes me smile. And your hair…no matter how you wear it, you always look good. Sometimes you say things like, ‘ugh, my hair’s a mess today,’ and I’m just flabbergasted.”
“Flabbergasted?” you interject, amused by his word choice.
“Flabbergasted,” Eddie affirms. “And your body is…I’m gonna sound like such a creep here, so forgive me, but your body is so fucking hot. Like the night we had that argument, you said something about no one else wanting to sleep with you. But I know for a fact that that’s not true.”
“It’s not? Who wants to sleep with me?”
Eddie laughs nervously as he slowly raises his hand. “Um, me? But not, like, in a smash-and-dash way. Like in a take you on dates, hold your hand, be your boyfriend kinda way? Oh my God, just tell me to shut up. Please.”
“You’re just saying that to cheer me up,” you mutter.
“Nope. It’s the truth. Cross my heart.” He makes the slashes across his chest with his fingers. “Wait…the thought of us together cheers you up?”
You nod shyly. “Just never thought you’d be into me like that.”
“Well, I am. I so fuckin’ am, holy shit.” Eddie looks like he wants to kiss you, but he’s holding back. “Can I take you on a date? Maybe tomorrow?”
“I’d love a date with you, Eddie Munson.” You watch as a grin spreads across his face, and you rest your head on his shoulder. He lays his arm along the back of the couch, not quite sure whether to put it around you. That’s how the two of you fall asleep as the remaining ice cream melts in its container.
Seeing Billy at work the next day still stings a bit, but it’s easier than it was. You know he’s an idiot, a player, a manipulative piece of shit. And you have a date with Eddie, who is the kindest, gentlest soul you’ve ever met. And you deserve that kindness.
Eddie picks you up from work as usual, but instead of his typical ripped jeans and a concert tee, he’s wearing…well, un-ripped jeans and a concert tee. But he smells like a new cologne as he kisses your cheek, blushing as he pulls away.
“You look absolutely incredible,” he muses, reaching over to hold your hand. “Seriously, I’m so lucky you agreed to go out with me, shit.” He smiles at you, shaking his head.
“What?”
“Nothin’, I just…” He can’t seem to shed his dopey, lovesick grin. “Told myself I wasn’t gonna kiss you; like, kiss you kiss you, until the end of the date. But you just look so goddamn gorgeous.”
“Shut up,” you duck your head, trying to hide from him. “I’m the lucky one. My date is hot and has a kickass personality to match.”
“Guess we both got lucky tonight.” Eddie bites his lower lip when he realizes what he’s just implied. “I mean–”
You squeeze his hand, effectively silencing his racing thoughts. “Where are you taking me?” you ask, trying to change the subject. It’s not that you were embarrassed by his Freudian slip, but after what happened with Billy, you weren’t looking to rush into sex.
“You’ll see,” Eddie says, excitement building in his voice. A few moments later, you’re walking into the Coffee and Contemplation Café, with Eddie holding the door open for you. Your sundress swishes along your thighs as you take a seat across from Eddie. He immediately takes your hands in his, caressing them with his thumbs.
“Eds?”
“Mm?”
“I need to look at the menu.”
“Oh.” He lets go of your hands, looking a bit sad as he does. “Sorry, baby. Shit–can I call you that?”
“Yeah,” you say. “I really like that, actually.” Baby. You’re Eddie’s “Baby.”
When the waitress comes around, you order a vanilla latte, and Eddie orders coffee with cream and two sugars. “That’s what Wayne always orders when we go to the diner,” he explains. The two of you decide to split a piece of crumb cake–one slice, two forks.
“This is a really nice date, Eds.” You wrinkle your nose. “Hmm. I need a cute nickname for you now, huh?”
Eddie taps his chin as though he’s deep in thought. “How about…stud muffin?” He feigns offense when you giggle. “What? Am I not studly?”
“Oh, the studliest,” you reassure him, still laughing. “I like ‘babe,’ though. Because you are a babe.”
“I dunno…kinda like stud muffin better,” Eddie teases, taking a sip of his coffee. “Now, tell me all about your day.”
And so you fill him in on every detail, from the kid who peed in the pool to the mother who berated the lifeguards for “allowing” it to happen. “Like we can control their bladders or something,” you add with an eye roll, and Eddie cackles. A strand of hair falls in his face, and you tuck it behind his ear.
“Thanks, baby,” he murmurs, peering at you from under impossibly long lashes. That’s when you lean in and kiss him, soft and slow and sweet. He’s not expecting it; probably thinking he was going to initiate when he dropped you back off at home. His lips remain frozen for a second until his brain registers what’s happening. Then he’s kissing you back, palm on your cheek.
“Was that okay?” you ask finally. Eddie’s response is to slam a $10 bill on the table and grab your hand, leading you back to his van. He kisses you again against the side door; it reminds you of how Billy kissed you that night that you…
Eddie notices that you’ve stopped kissing him back, and he pulls away. “Baby? You good?”
“Y-Yeah,” you stammer. He’s not Billy. Not even close. Not even a little bit. You take a deep breath. “Just nervous, c-cause the last time I did this, it, uh, didn’t end well for me.”
Eddie wraps his arms around your waist, gently pulling you towards him. “Hey, hey,” he coos. “There’s no rush, yeah? And I’d never–never make you do anything you’re not ready for.”
“I know.” And you do. So for now, you just rest your head against his chest, listening to the beautiful sound of his heartbeat.
The next month before you leave for school is filled with dates, each better than the last. Eddie takes you to the carnival, the drive-in movie theater, picnics at Lover’s Lake…anywhere he can. The kissing gets more fun; you’re able to focus on Eddie–your Eddie–and not on your past experiences.
The night before you’re set to go back to college, you’re ready to take that next step with him. The two of you are sitting on his bed and listening to music; your plans for an outdoor music festival having been squandered by the pouring rain. You move closer to him, straddling his waist as you press your lips to his neck.
“‘M gonna miss you s’much,” you pout, moving your mouth to his. “Want you, babe. All of you.”
Eddie gives a terse chuckle. “I want you too; so fuckin’ bad. But we don’t have to do this just because you’re leaving. I’m not gonna break up with you. In fact, I…” he swallows thickly before continuing, “I think I love you, baby. Shit, no; I know I love you.”
“I know I love you, too,” you smile, kissing him again. “And I want to have sex with you because I love you, and I want to show you.” You dig your fingers into Eddie’s hair, nuzzling your noses together. “Is that okay?”
“More than okay,” he breathes, hands settling on your hips. “You’ll let me know if you wanna stop, right? Just tell me, and we can go back to cuddling. Promise me.”
“I promise,” you say, and it’s the truth.
Eddie nods. “Okay. On your back, baby. Let me take care of you.”
You do as he asks, and you feel his lips trail down your torso, stopping just before he reaches the throbbing ache between your legs. “Yes?” he looks up at you patiently.
“Yes.” With that, he unbuttons your shorts and tugs them down your legs, running his middle finger along your lace panties. He shivers as he feels how wet you are, all for him, and he nearly tears the underwear in half trying to yank it off of you.
“Wanna taste you,” Eddie mutters.
“Y-You can taste me.” You whimper, and Eddie wastes no time licking a soft stripe along your folds, easily finding your clit. “Right there.” His lips wrap around your sensitive bud, flicking his tongue over it. “Holy shit, yes, right fucking there.”
Eddie detaches from your sex for a second, chin already shiny with your slick. “Keep makin’ those pretty noises f’me, please.” He sounds just as desperate as you do as he plunges back between your legs, this time slipping a finger inside you as he licks. You’re moaning, and there’s no faking it this time. Eddie’s touch has you floating, You can vaguely sense him rutting up against the mattress, so turned on just by eating you out. He’s holding onto your hips, eyes never leaving your body.
“Gonna come, feels s’good,” you whine, never wanting this feeling to end. You grind up into his face as you ride out your orgasm, gripping the sheets and screaming his name. “Eddie, Eddie, I’m coming, holy fuck!” After he brings you back down from the high, you push yourself up onto your knees.
“Where ya goin’?” he asks. “Was that too much?”
“Just wanna return the favor.” You lean over to rub him through his tented jeans, but he shakes his head.
“Not tonight,” he mutters, “I’m too pent up. I’ll never last in that perfect little mouth of yours.” He kisses you deeply, and you can taste yourself on his lips. “Can I be inside you?”
“Yes, babe. Please.” You look down, realizing that your shirt is still on. You want to show him all of you, let him touch every last inch of your body, but you hesitate to take it off.
Eddie must be able to read your mind, because he tilts your chin in his direction. “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wanna see you naked,” he admits, “but only if you’re ready. You can keep it on if you’re more comfortable.”
You inhale in for three and exhale for three before you respond. “I’m ready. I’m comfortable.” You lift the shirt above your head, revealing your bare breasts. The incredulous stare on your boyfriend’s face is almost comical. “Are you okay?” you giggle.
“No, I think I died and went to Heaven,” he says, letting his thumbs graze over your hardened nipples. He undresses himself in record time, revealing his long, thick cock. Pre-cum drips from the tip. “Baby, I wanna spend all night touching you, but I’m gonna bust if–”
“It’s okay,” you interrupt, looping your arms around his neck and kissing him.
He reaches into his dresser drawer, pulling out a condom and removing it from its wrapper. “Can you put it on me?” he whispers, and you oblige, rolling it down his length. He hisses at your touch, too sensitive to ask you to linger there. He sets you back on the pillows, slowly pushing into you a little at a time until he’s fully inside. “Good, baby?”
“Mhm,” you mewl. “S’good. You can–you can go faster, whenever you want.”
Eddie threads his fingers with yours, putting your hands up next to your head as he rocks into you. “God, you’re so beautiful,” he groans. “The most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. I love you, I love you, fuck, I love you.” He punctuates each I love you with a kiss to your lips.
“I love you, Eddie. ‘M all yours.”
“All mine,” he echoes, “my baby’s all mine. And I’m hers. Her pussy belongs to me and–shit–my cock belongs to her.” He squeezes your hand, not possessively, but as a reminder that it’s him. It’s him, it’s you, it’s the two of you together. His eyes never leave yours, and he suddenly smiles. “You make me so damn happy.”
“This has been the best summer of my life,” you agree, “and it’s all because I have you, babe.”
His chest rubs against yours ever-so-slightly, and the sensation of your breasts has him weak. “I’m gonna come.” His expression is apologetic. “Shit, I didn’t wanna–”
“Let go for me,” you assure him, feeling yourself come undone as you speak. “We c-can come together.” Your second orgasm of the evening happens on his cock as he spills into the condom with a wanton moan. He’s still for a minute, catching his breath before removing himself from your warmth.
“I love you,” he says as he kisses you, sliding off the barrier and tying it. “Let me toss this, and then can we cuddle? I kinda just wanna hold you.”
“I’m down to cuddle before round two,” you say, laughing at his dumbfounded expression. “Don’t worry; I’ll give you a few minutes to reload.”
“I’m not worried about that,” he says, climbing back into bed and sighing happily as you snuggle into his chest. “We’ve got all the time in the world.”
“Forever?”
“Forever.”

so let the words slip out of your mouth
buck & eddie || rated: g || wc: 1.7k || read on ao3
Buck wasn’t trying to hide from Eddie. Really, he wasn’t. It’s just….every time Buck tried to get the words out he clammed up. He was pretty sure that Eddie thought there was something wrong with him, he’d been giving Buck increasingly worried looks over the last couple weeks.
Eddie had overheard Hen telling him that she would add him to the queer LAFD group chat— not she had said what the group chat was for at the time— and he’d given Buck a weird look, as he knew how much Buck hated group chats. Buck was also sure that Eddie had noticed the look on Bobby’s face when he looked at Buck sometimes, like he was proud of him, happy for him. It never failed to warm Buck from head to toe but he knew it made Eddie curious. The worst was probably Chimney, who, after a few too many weird goodbyes, had stopped saying bye altogether and had taken to saying adios.
So Eddie definitely knew something was up with Buck, but Buck was pretty sure he didn’t know what.
Buck was sitting at his table, staring into space as he contemplated how to tell Eddie. Tommy had just left— they’d had a nice romantic date before Tommy had to leave due to an early shift the next morning and Buck was still giddy over their date. Things were good between him and Tommy. Solid. They’d only been dating for a few weeks but Buck was over the moon and he was really excited to see where things were going to go between them.
A soft knock sounded at his door, breaking him out of his thoughts.
Buck went to answer it, figuring it was Tommy. “You forget something?” He asked as he opened the door.
Only it wasn’t Tommy, it was Eddie. “Hey, Buck. Can we talk?”
“Y-yeah, of course,” Buck stumbled over his words, moving to the side so Eddie could come in. Buck swallowed roughly as he shut the door behind him. Looks like they’d be having this conversation whether he was ready or not. “What do you want to talk about?”
Eddie just gave him a look. “You know what.”
Buck sighed. “I wasn’t trying to hide it from you, Eds. I just didn’t know how to tell you.”
“Tell me what?” Eddie pressed, shoving his hands in his pockets. “If I’m being honest, Buck, I don’t really know what’s going on. I just know that everyone at work is acting weird, like they’re in on this secret and I’m not, and I’ve tried to figure it out, trust me. But I can’t. What could be so bad that you can’t tell me?”
“It’s not bad, I promise,” Buck said earnestly. “There’s nothing wrong, I’ve just…figured some things out.”
“Okay…” Eddie trailed off, looking at Buck when he didn’t elaborate. “What things?”
“It’s that— I’m—” Buck tried, swallowing against the lump in his throat. His heart was beating so fast, just like it had the first time he came out. You’d think all the practice he’d had would have made it easier but something about coming out to Eddie made everything feel so much more.
“Is it that you’re hanging out with Tommy? I saw him leave. You guys don’t have to hide it,” Eddie said, his brow furrowed. “It’s not like I’d be upset. A little bummed that I’m not invited but not upset,” Eddie chuckled, although his laughter trailed off when Buck just stood there.
“Tommy and I…” Buck started, clearing his throat. “We are hanging out but we’re not friends.”
“How does that work?” Eddie looked adorably confused.
“Eds, we’re dating.”
“Oh,” Eddie said, his eyebrows raising in surprise. “Oh.”
“Yeah,” Buck said, rubbing the back of his neck in a nervous gesture. “So I’m…the news is that I’m bisexual. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you.”
Eddie was quiet for a moment, digesting the new information while Buck fidgeted in front of him. “So…when we ran into you at the pizza place…you guys were on a date, weren’t you?”
“Yeah, it was our first,” Buck mumbled, unable to keep a small smile from gracing his lips. The date had been a little tense and a whole lot awkward when Eddie and Marisol interrupted but then Tommy had walked him back to his door and kissed him and Buck had melted, throwing himself into the kiss. They’d found their footing and it hadn’t been awkward since.
“Shit, Buck, I’m so sorry, we totally interrupted,” Eddie looked dismayed.
“It’s okay, you didn’t know,” Buck reassured.
“I’m still sorry,” Eddie said quietly. “And I’m sorry for storming over here and basically forcing you to tell me. You clearly didn’t want to and I made you and I’m just, I’m sorry.”
“Hey, hey, no,” Buck said, his brow furrowing as he took a step closer to Eddie. “You didn’t make me do anything, I was always going to tell you, I was just having a hard time finding the words.”
Eddie let out a sigh of relief and closed the distance between them, pulling Buck into a bear hug. Buck hugged back just as tightly, letting out a shuddering breath when Eddie whispered, “I’m proud of you, Buck. Thanks for telling me.”
“You’re welcome,” Buck mumbled back. A quick fleeting thought dashed across his mind that Eddie’s arms felt so good around him, something he’d always known but now it was at the forefront of his mind. It felt different now and Buck felt a tendril of confusion. Why did hugging his best friend feel different now? Why did it feel better? Like something was slotting together? Buck shook his head as he pulled away from the hug, trying to physically shake away the thoughts. He wasn’t ready to think about that. “I’m surprised you’re here so late, where’s Chris?”
“Ah,” Eddie looked sheepish. “We had a bit of a fight and he wanted space so Tia Pepa said she’d take him for the night.”
“Oh? About what?” Buck was confused, the amount of times Eddie and Christopher had fought was a very small number.
Eddie sighed. “It’s dumb, you probably don’t want to hear it,” He tried to brush it off. “Let’s talk about more important things: so, you and Tommy?”
Buck ducked his head, blushing. “Yeah, me and Tommy.”
“That’s great, Buck, I’m really happy for you,” Eddie said. A quick expression flitted across his face, too quick for Buck to decipher it, before Eddie gave him a genuine smile.
“Thanks, Eds,” Buck murmured, a pleased glow lighting up his face. “I’ll tell you anything you want to know but first, talk to me about Chris. What did you fight about, is he okay?” Buck was concerned for his favourite Diaz.
“He’s not Marisol’s biggest fan,” Eddie sighed, scrubbing his jaw. “He doesn’t like that she’s been babysitting him so much— which is on me, I’ve been going out a lot with Tommy, especially that first couple of weeks and now, I just— I guess I have to figure that out.”
“Shit, Eddie, I’m sorry,” Buck said, his voice soft with sympathy. “You want a beer?”
“God, yes please,” Eddie blew out a breath, coming to sit down at the island in Buck’s kitchen. Buck placed an opened beer in front of him and then opened one for himself. “Thanks, Buck.” Eddie said gratefully, taking a hearty sip.
“So, what are you going to do?”
“I don’t even know,” Eddie said, picking at the beer bottle label. “If I’m being honest, I’m not…really feeling it? Like, it was exciting at first and she’s nice but that’s…that’s it. I don’t feel a spark with her, y’know? I don’t really feel anything for her. I guess that’s why I kind of blew up at Chris, because I felt guilty that I wasn’t actually upset that he didn’t like her.”
“If you want me to talk to him, just let me know,” Buck offered.
“That would be great, I’d really appreciate that.”
“No problem,” Buck smiled before he took a deep breath, steeling himself for his next question. “Speaking of Christopher, Eddie can I….can I tell him? About me?”
Eddie looked at him in surprise. “Buck, of course. You don’t even have to ask. Besides, he’s…” Eddie trailed off, looking at Buck with soft eyes. “He’s your kid too.”
Buck swallowed against the sudden lump in his throat, feeling tears sting his eyes. “Y-yeah?”
“Yeah, Buck,” Eddie grinned.
“You’ve never said that before,” Buck said shyly.
“To be honest I thought you knew,” Eddie’s voice was gentle. “You’re his guardian if anything happens to me.”
“Yeah, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s mine,” Buck countered, looking down at his hands.
“It does to me,” Eddie replied firmly, so there was so ifs, ands, or buts. “He’s ours.”
“Ours,” Buck tested the word out, liking the way it sounded. “Okay. Ours.”
Eddie’s smile could outshine the sun and Buck felt his heart skip a beat, just like it always did when Eddie smiled at him.
The two of them were quiet for a minute, basking in the comfortable silence while they sipped their beer, before Buck eventually spoke up. “How do you think I should tell him?”
“That youre bi?” Eddie asked and Buck nodded. “I’d just say it straight.”
Buck laughed. “Well, I don’t know if I can say it straight.”
Eddie chuckled. “You’re going to be making all the puns now, aren’t you?” His voice was unbearably fond and Buck wanted to wrap himself around the glow it lit inside him. “You know what I meant. Just say it outright, you know he’ll support you. You may have to explain what bisexual means but honestly I think he’s going to be very casual about it. Plus, he likes Tommy so you know he’s going to be excited that you’re dating.”
“Okay, great,” Buck’s shoulders relaxed and he let out a huge sigh of relief. “Thank you, Eddie.”
“You don’t have to thank me, Buck,” Eddie said. “Now come on, let’s finish these while we watch a shitty movie.”
“Sounds good,” Buck said warmly, following Eddie to the couch. And it did— sound good. He felt better than he had in weeks now that Eddie knew and was okay with it— just like Buck had always known he would be, but that small part of him that worried was loud. As Buck leaned back against the couch while they flicked through the movie options, he felt complete. And very, very free.

-LATE NOVEMBER ‘22-
Luke let out a soft grunt as his body hit his mattress, his energy drained from their two games on Friday and Saturday night, which they had both won. So, the seniors had decided a party was to take place on Sunday, from sun up to sun down, something the Hughes boys hated.
He wasn’t a big partyer, sure he liked going out every once in a while, drink a little here and there, but big scene with a bunch of strangers, drunk strangers wasn’t somethign he enjoyed. He tried to find some positive to the day he just had, but he couldn’t find any. He hadn’t even drank half a beer, having to make sure his friends didn’t do anything that would get them in trouble.
He was more than ready to call it a day and end to bed, he had successfully put all of his roommates to sleep, meaning there was nothing stopping him from falling asleep. He quickly changed into something more comfortable before hiding under his blanket, checking his phone one last time. Just as he was about to put his phone down, a notification came in.
He groaned a bit before checking it, hoping it wasn’t one of the freshman asking him to come help them back to their dorms, or anything important really. Instead, he was meet with a text from you, a short and simple one.
y/n/n
hey lulu, you seemed a bit stressed tonight and i didn’t want to bother you, hope duker wasn’t too much of a hassle to put to bed. just wanted to say you played amazing this weekend :)
sleep well, you deserve it <3
The youngest Hughes couldn’t help the smile that formed on his face as his fingers moved across his phone screen, his index hovering over the send button, wondering if this was a good idea or not.
lulu
hi y/n/n, surprisingly duker was the easiest to put to bed, can’t say the same for eddy though… thank you, and i will especially after today. i know you have an early class tomorrow, but maybe we could get lunch after? on me
The boy didn’t understand why he felt nervous when he sent the text, the two of you get lunch together pretty much every single week, this wouldn’t be any different. So why was he feeling the way he was?
y/n/n
i’d love to! only if i get to pick the place though
lulu
when have i not let you pick the place?
y/n/n
never because you’re a smart man :D
lulu
exactly, night y/n/n
y/n/n
night lulu, see you tomorrow xx
And there it was again, that weird little feeling in the pit of his stomach, one he had been feeling way too many times in past week whenever he’d talk to you. Luke truly didn’t understand what that feeling was, or why it appeared every time you were around or when you would text or call him, but he loved it. He was addicted to it.
The same feeling came back the next morning as he saw you walking towards his car, talking with one of your friends that was in your class. A smile creeped it’s way onto his face as you bid your goodbyes to your friend before joining Luke in his car, sending him a wide smile.
“Hey, Lu.” You said as you buckled up, the boy’s eyes never leaving your figure until your eyes met his.
“Hi.” He whispered with a smile before snapping back to his normal self, turning the car on and driving off towards your favourite place to eat lunch in the area. It was a small little cafe, one you wouldn’t even know existed if it wasn’t for one of your friends working there. Said friend had brought back a leftover chicken wrap she had as dinner one night, and you grew obsessed with them.
“You know me so well, Hughes.” You mumbled with a wide grin as he pulled into a parking spot, chuckling a bit at your expression.
“It’s not like you pretty much force me to eat here every week.” The boy answered, his tone light and teasing making you roll your eyes with a smile.
“Shut up.” You told him before getting out of the car and making your way into the place, Luke following closely behind you.
A couple of minutes later, your food arrived, it wasn’t noon yet, meaning there was barely anyone inside, something you loved because it meant your food would arrive quicker. You then started telling Luke about what had happened in your life during the weekend, barely ever letting the boy speak, but he didn’t mind. The sound of your voice was something he loved, the way you would invest into your storytelling leaving him in awn.
Once again, that feeling in the pit of his stomach came back as your laugh echoed in his ears, your beautiful smile staring at him as all your attention was focused on him, and him only. You were quite the talkative person, always finding a group of people at a party to talk the night away, much like your older brother, and Luke was total opposite, choosing to stay with his teammates at every party. So, whenever your full attention was on him, it made him feel so special.
He was the only that mattered to you in this moment, your whole mind and spirit were only thinking about him. Just like you had his whole attention, you always did. Whenever the two of you were in the same room, you were all Luke could think about, always letting his eyes drift towards you, finding you easily even in a crowded room.
“Luke? Luke, are you listening?” He heard your voice ask making him blink a couple of times. Your eyes were looking into his with such worry, he loved it.
“Yeah, yeah, ‘m listening.” He answered, his voice low as he scratched the back of his neck, clearing his throat slightly. Thankfully, you didn’t ask anymore questions, instead continuing your story, Luke letting out a quick sigh when you did. He relaxed in his seat, paying full attention to what you were saying, realization settling into him.
He was in deep shit.
~
“What’s up with you?” Ethan asked later that night as all the sophomores were sitting in the couches in their living room, Luke quiet than he usually was. The question made the other three boys look over at the youngest one in the room, a slight red colour appearing on Luke’s cheeks.
“Nothing.” He answered, trying his best to ignore the looks his best friends were giving him.
“Bullshit.” Dylan called out, pausing the hockey game that was currently playing on their TV, none of them paying attention to it anymore. Luke bit his lips for a moment, debating wether he should tell them about his new found feelings for you, or stay quiet. Knowing his best friends, especially Duker, Trevor would find out in probably less than a week, so option two it was.
“I don’t wanna talk ‘bout it.” He mumbled, Mackie rolling his eyes at his answer.
“Boo hoo, whore. Tell us.” The boy said, making the other three chuckle slightly, but nodding their heads at the same time.
“If I tell you, you can’t tell anyone.” Luke started, his friends laughing between them, only making the youngest one angry. “I am serious! You can’t tell another soul about this, or I will murder all of you.”
“We won’t, chill.” Mark said, the others nodding along with him. Luke took a large sip of his beer, his roommates all watching him until he spoke again.
“I think I am in love with Y/N/N.” The boy admitted out loud for the first time, and gosh did it feel weird. He was in love with his brother’s best friend’s little sister. He knew Jack probably wouldn’t have a problem with them dating, but Trevor, yeah that would be another story.
“You just realized?” The other New Jersey pick laughed, the others boys doing the same. A tint of red grew on Luke’s cheeks again, this one darker and more noticeable than before.
“I think you’re the last one to realize that, buddy.”
“You just realized?”
“It’s like the more obvious thing, Hughesy.” They all teased, not making the boy in question feel any better than he already did. He just put himself in the worst position possible, the memory of Trevor introducing you to him, clearly stating that you were off limits to the boy and to never get any ideas. Of course back then, Luke just shrugged it off, after all he was fourteen, the last thing he was thinking about was a relationship, but now, now it was totally different.
He wanted you, needed you, to be his. He’d do anything for you, if it meant you could be his forever, something he had never felt before. He’s had a couple of girlfriends and flings in the past, but this was a new feeling, stronger than he’s ever felt before. But he could never tell you about this, never, it would ruin your friendship, Trevor would hate him, then Jack and Trevor’s friendship would be all messed up because of it, and it’d all be because of his. He couldn’t.
“So, when are you gonna tell her?” Dylan asked from besides him, bring the boy out of his thought. Luke furred his brow slightly before answering the Duke boy.
“Never. It’d ruin everything.” He explained, scoffs being heard in the living room.
“Trust me, Lukey, if you were to call her right now and ask her on a date, she’d say yes. The girl’s like head over heels for you, it’s so obvious it hurts.” Mackie said, everyone else agreeing with him.
“Z would kill me, than Jack’s gonna get pissed at me, too risky.”
“God, you’re the biggest idiot out there.” Dylan mumbled before pressing play on the remote, the sound of the commentators being the only noise in the room.
Luke didn’t pay attention to the rest of the game, his whole mind being focused on you. What were you doing at this moment? Were you thinking about him like he was thinking about you? Would you go on a date with him? Did you love him the same way he loved you? Or were you in the arms of another boy? Having a girls night with your friends, him being the last thing on his mind? He needed to know.
The Hughes boy left the living right before the third period started, his finger hovering over your contact. He shouldn’t. But he did it anyways, the sound of the phone ringing soon echoing in his ear as he bit his nails nervously. Only for him to be met with the sound of your voicemail, crushing his spirit a little. He tried his best not to let it bother him, instead deciding to watch a show, when he received a text only a minute later.
y/n/n
hi lulu, it’s sibling night, i’ll call you when we’re done facetiming :))
A sigh of relief left his mouth, monday nights were always siblings night, how he could he forget that. They started back when Trevor left for the NTDP, at first it would be you, Griffin and Ava all together, and then eventually you were all in different places over the country. You had made it very clear to Luke that no plans could ever be made on Monday nights because of it.
The boy felt a lot more at ease now, relaxing in his bed as his show played. And the moment he heard his ringtone and your contact popping up on his phone, a wide smile grew on his face. He sat up in his bed, clearing his throat slightly before answering the call.
“Hey.”
“Hi, you. What’s up?” You asked, the sound of your voice only making the boy smile even more.
“I just, uh… Do you wanna go on a date with me?” He asked starighforeward, bitting his lips after, scared of your answer. You stayed quiet for a while, making the boy even more nervous than he already was.
“I’d love to, Lu.”

more of your family here.

Summary: . . . You and Eddie tell your toddler she's going to be a big sister.
warnings: penny being penny, it's fluff.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t ideal. Not necessarily something you were vehemently against, since you were obviously going through with it, but not worth sobbing over.
Eddie had knocked you up. Again.
Penny wasn’t even three years old yet, and you’d ended up with yet another bun in the oven—as you’d discovered two weeks ago.
Luckily, you weren’t as far along as you had been when you found out you were pregnant with Penny, so you’d have more time to plan and come to terms with it. And your hormones weren’t out of whack yet.
Last week had technically been the end of your first trimester, so you were pretty much in the clear to start telling people—though most of your friend group already knew because despite feeling a little overwhelmed, Eddie took great pride in his ability to strike twice.
You were sure he had some sort of breeding kink, and it definitely didn’t help that you let him raw dog you every single time. As soon as you popped this one out, that would be coming to an end. Until then, he was keen on having his fill—or rather keen on filling you.
The only person in your life who didn’t know you were expecting was your toddler. If the conversation didn’t involve a word she wasn’t supposed to say, Penny wasn’t paying attention.
You and Eddie had tried to come up with ways to tell her, but you’d both been fumbling with ideas. Mostly because you had no idea how she’d react.
Penny only interacted with a few kids her age at the park, mostly older children and sometimes she’d see a baby, point at it and say ‘baby’, but that was about it. She’d do the same when she saw the gerber baby commercials and she thought the babies on her cartoons were cute, but that was the most she’d interacted with one.
Penny was also aware of the existence of siblings, saw them depicted in her cartoons but never approached you and Eddie in regards to why she didn’t have one or wanting one (which you had been grateful about). But she was only two. Which meant she probably didn’t care.
Or that she didn’t want one.
That’s what you and Eddie were afraid of.
You’d been thinking about her lack of interactions with babies all day at work when the idea struck you.
It was such an obvious one, too, you knew Eddie would be annoyed that he didn’t think of it sooner.
After work, you swung by the store, secured the bag (and a gift bag) and dipped.
Once you were parked in front of the trailer, you shoved the darling little thing into the gift bag and found yourself surprisingly giddy about the entire idea. You had a really good feeling about this.
Eddie had already picked Penny up from Maude and Wayne, and you found him lifting her up and rocketing her around the room, making swoosh sound effects while she laughed her cute little diaper-covered butt off.
It was music to your ears.
“Look! Mommy’s home!” Eddie lowered her, turning her so she was facing your direction.
Her big brown eyes lit up, smile widening as she reached for you.
  “Mama!”
“Hi, baby!” You greeted her as Eddie repositioned her over his hip. She leaned forward, lips comically pursed and ready for a kiss. Penny saw you and Eddie kiss each other goodbye and witnessed your welcome kisses, so she also demanded kisses, which you were happy to give her. At one point, she didn’t want you giving Eddie any kisses because she thought they were all hers so you were happy she was willing to share.
You gave her an innocent little smooch, and pressed big smacking ones to both her cheeks.
“And hello to you, too.” You reached a hand up to hook on the back of Eddie’s neck as you leaned up and he leaned down, lips meeting in a kiss you knew he wanted to deepen—and would have, had it not been for the toddler in his arms.
“Hi, honey.” He gave you a goofy grin, before jutting his chin down towards the shiny pink bag in your hand, “What’cha got there?”
“Put her on the couch, I’ll show you.”
“Is it for me or is it for her?” Eddie tapped at his chest before gently pinching and wiggling Penny’s nose as you both moved over to the couch. “‘Cause, I’m hoping it’s for me. No offense, kid.”
Her pudgy little hands flew up to swipe at her dad’s before he set her down on the cushions. Penny was still all smiles, but since Eddie had brought the gift to her attention, she couldn’t focus on anything else, stare honed in on the pink bag.
You squatted to be eye level with her and reached your hand out to tickle Penny’s tummy. She giggled, tongue between her teeth as she moved her hands to try to shield her tummy from you.
“I’ve brought you a gift.” You held the bag up by the strings, the bottom of it supported by your other palm.
  “Wazzit?”
“It’s a crystal, nothing more—I’m kidding. Open it, baby.”
You placed it in her grabby hands, the bag was half her size so she had to dump it on its side and practically climb inside to pull out the clear, plastic box. Her little gasp was a dramatic one.
“‘S uh baby, mommy! Uh baby!”
Penny marveled at the baby doll in her hands, mouth and eyes wide open.
  “Show daddy!”
Penny turned the clear box around—dropping it in her lap once—to showcase the plastic baby inside.
Eddie’s gasp was purposely more dramatic than Penny’s had been, “Is that a baby?!”
  “Yah!”
Eddie chuckled, holding a hand out, “You want me to open it for you?”
  “Yes.”
Eddie struggled with the packaging for a good five minutes, muttering unintelligible words under his breath before he finally got the doll out and released it from its bindings.
Penny clutched it to her chest in a deathly tight hug and your heart warmed to see her so happy. Penny had yet to be introduced to dolls, all she ever played with was blocks and stuffed animals—you and Eddie avoided taking her to the toy aisle, you because you were afraid she’d want something she was too small for and Eddie because he feared she’d want something with too many choking hazard pieces.
“I haz uh baby!” She proclaimed, eyes squeezing shut with the force of her smile.
“You know, Penny…I have a baby, too.” You confessed, reaching a hand out to stroke over her curls.
  “I yuh baby!” She giggled
You and Eddie both chuckled, and he squatted down to join you. He’d finally caught on to what you were up to, and you were right, he was a little miffed he hadn’t thought of this earlier, considering Penny often had him feed her stuffed animals a bottle.
“You are our baby,” Eddie agreed, “but mama has another baby.”
“Daddy, Penny yuh baby! Penny mommy’s baby.” She tried again, probably wondering why her mommy and daddy didn’t understand that she was the baby.
“Penny is—you are a baby,” you always had to catch yourself. Penny had a habit of usually referring to herself in third person because she heard you and Eddie talk about her and thought she had to refer to herself in the same way, “I’m just gonna have another baby and you.”
Penny’s grip on the baby doll loosened, head tilting with confusion written all over her cute little face. “Huh?”
“You remember the babies in the strollers at the park?” You asked, palm scooping up one of her little hands. She curled it around your thumb.
  “Yes.”
“Mommy and daddy are having one of those.” Eddie finished for you, flashing you a smile with eyes that glittered and oozed his happiness. There was something magical about Eddie. He had the power to make any weariness, any of your lingering nerves just disappear. Melt away. Just with a look.
“You’re gonna be a big sister,” You added, returning your focus to your little girl.
Penny’s gaze darted to the side and you and Eddie held your breath.
Her gaze darted to the other side as she continued to think and Eddie reached for your hand, squeezing. His palm was sweaty.
  Finally, she spoke.
“Uhhhhhhhh, wike pieble?” Her head cocked to the side again, unwinding one arm from around her baby doll to scratch at her head and muss up her curls.
She meant Fievel. A little mouse from one of her favorite movies.
“Well, he was the little brother, so you’re more like—what’s her name?”
You turned your head to ask Eddie who readily supplied you with the answer since it was the tape that constantly occupied the VCR. He could quote that movie by now.
  “Tanya.”
  “Tanya. You’re like Tanya.”
“Aww!!!” Penny went bashful, shoulders lifting up nearly to her ears. “Okie dokie!”
You sighed in relief but Eddie was still practically frozen.
  “…That’s it?”
  “Huh?”
“You’re just—you’re okay with it? Just like that? No screaming, no crying, no throwing your toys at daddy? You’re just—you’re okay?”
  “Yes.”
Eddie blinked, lips pursed before he shrugged and stood up and you rose with him. “Well, okay then! We’re having another baby.”
Penny squealed, shoving her baby doll aside—oh, how fleeting was her favor—to clap her hands, practically bouncing on the cushion.
  “Weh my baby?”
“Right there.” Eddie pointed at the baby doll before he pulled you into his arms, feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. You were having his baby, again, and his baby girl was fine with it. He’d been expecting one of her tantrums that ended with her spread out on the floor, bashing her fists and kicking her feet against it while she screamed till she was blue in the face but the reality was so much better.
“No, daddy. Not dat.” And to emphasize she wasn’t talking about the doll, Penny lifted her leg, making sure the baby doll was under her foot before she kicked it off the couch. “I wan’ my baby.”
“Jesus, Penny. What have I said about throwing your toys?” He frowned, chin resting on the top of your head while you stayed quiet and nestled against his chest. You weren’t docile or anything, you just wanted him to be the bad guy this time.
Penny ignored him, once more voicing her question with a great amount of exasperation and her hands flailing, “Weh my baby!?”
“Still in my tummy, Penny.” You informed her, hand moving to rest over your lower abdomen. There still wasn’t much change there, but you knew life was growing just beneath your palm.
Eddie wished so damn badly that he had the camera to capture the look on Penny’s face at your statement, her mouth dropped open, eyes wider than he’d ever seen them with a mixture of outrage, horror and disbelief.
  “YOU ATED UH BABY?!”

you're sick
| sypnosis: eddie has non-stop bullied you since your freshman year and it certainly won't stop as you approach into your senior year.
| who doesn't love a little evil?
| bully!eddie x y/n
| warning: contains NONCON, pure smut, violence, etc..
before you read, this does feature NONCON/RAPE, i am not responsible for what you read further on !
you walked through the hallway, your green skirt with striped white lines at the bottom, flowing side to side and your green vest shown, clearly identifying you as a cheerleader.
from far away, you looked as if you were simply fine and perfect in your natural light but if anyone looked very deep, they would clearly realize something was wrong.
and the something that was wrong?
eddie munson.
he had been terrorizing you since your freshman year and never failed to make you feel worse about yourself.
he would push you, trip you, make you cry if it meant that you would get upset.
you had tried everything to get him to leave you alone but he never seems to quit, you disliked him in every way.
you didn't find a single thing to like about him.
but back to reality,
"y/n!" your friend, chrissy cunningham, coming over to you with a smile.
"chrissy!" you smiled at her as chrissy walked along side of you.
"okay so here me out, i got jason's friend who's name is jack who would love to go on a date with you." she squeaked.
you sighed, "chrissy, i do not need that at the moment."
she frowned, "it's our final year and you still refuse to go on a date with any of the guys."
you rolled your eyes, "they are all tools that don't deserve all this." you did a little turn, showing off your figure, bumping into someone.
"oh im so-" you looked up to see the man you hated the most but also feared, "i'm really sorry eddie." you apologized, not wanting any punishment.
he smirked, passing by you without saying anything, "what was that?" chrissy asked, smiling.
"nothing, just an accident." you gave an innocent smile but little did chrissy know, it goes farther than that.
the bell rang as you went to sit down in front of eddie as you always did.
"hi slut." eddie whispered in your ear, causing shivers down your back as you ignored him, "don't ignore me, you will only make it worse on yourself."
"what do you want eddie?" you sighed, still facing forward.
"what's with the attitude, you act as if i can't say hi these days, i'm quite hurt y/n." he fake frowned.
you grew visibly annoyed, "i don't wanna play your games eddie."
he smirked, "whatever princess wants."
you looked confused as to why eddie is leaving you alone but you consider it luck today.
the teacher called you up to write an equation which you do with ease. as you headed back to your seat, eddie had a huge smile on his face, it was dark. you knew he was up to something but you couldn't place your finger on it.
the bell rang as you packed up your textbooks and stood, going as you tripped over eddie's leg which was purposely put out.
you didn't even wanna entertain him so you continued exiting the classroom.
you heard him chasing after you, "y/n!"
you quickly exited the classroom, ready to go to lunch as he gripped your hand painfully, "let go of me." you looked at him angrily.
"have you forgotten who the fuck you are talking to?" he whispered in your ear angrily.
you scoffed at his cockiness, "i don't talk to man-children who play a child's game." you took back your hand, "but maybe i'll talk to you with respect when you stop hanging out with freshman, you fucking freak." you spat at him, "i would also recommend getting out of highschool before you get over the legal drinking age, asshole."
you had never seen him so angry but you were sick of the abuse, you exited the classroom to walk with your cheer friends.
you were glad that it was a friday so you would be prepared for the repercussions of your actions.
after you walked with your cheer friends, you waved goodbye, heading home.
thankfully the walk was only five minutes and took you no time. you were glad to head home because you kept feeling anxious going home as if someone was following you.
nobody was home due to your parents being on an anniversary trip that they would be back from tomorrow but you just wanted to go straight to sleep anyways.
after eating leftovers, you dressed into pajama shorts and a tanktop, going to sleep.
you were suddenly awoken to your bottoms being pulled off aggressively as you gasped to see eddie, "what the fuck are you doing! get out!" you kicked him but he only restrained you further.
this is when you started to cry, "get off of me!" you tried using your nails to scratch him.
that's when he slapped you, "don't fucking move." he aggressively said, pulling out a knife.
tears were streaming down your face as you stopped moving, scared to death.
he started rubbing your exposed clit, "you fucking insult me and think you are gonna get away with that shit, you stupid fucking bitch." he spat.
he completely ripped of your bottoms now causing you to cry harder, "i'm sorry!" you pleaded with him but you knew he wouldn't listen.
he started unbuckling his belt as you tried crawling across the bed to go but he grabbed onto your legs, "you really are fucking stubborn."
he turned you over so that your legs were spread as he went in between you and positioned himself in the middle of you, choking you.
"i should've killed you for what you said today but i should fuck the disrespect out of you instead." he whispered, letting go of you as you gasped for air as he cut your tanktop, revealing your breasts.
he stroked himself lightly, lining up with your entrance before pushing himself inside.
you gasped at the pressure, he was stretching you out completely. he started sucking on your nipples as the pleasure hit you harder than ever.
"perfect fucking tits." he bit on your nipple a little bit, making you moan.
he squeezed onto your tit as he sucked on other one, rocking into you.
he pounded into you harder, using his thumb to circle your clit, "so fucking wet and you try to act as if you don't like it." he groaned into your ear as you moaned.
"eddie please, gentle." you begged as the sounds to skin slapping against eachother and moans filled your ears.
"your cunt was made for me, holy shit." he fucked you harder.
at this point, tears were rapidly streaming down your cheeks by the pleasure, "i'm coming." you moaned.
"then do it, you dirty slut." his voice making you come harder.
"fuck." eddie moaned, pulling out of you and coming onto your sheets as your eyes closed.
he couldn't wait to punish you again.

Very late fuck it Friday where it’s barely even Friday for me here.
Little update in case anyone ( @sibylsleaves 😘) is interested. This thing, which henceforth shall be known as, If I Should Fall, is now over 14K and is likely to be posted sometime this weekend. I’m just editing it now.
Here’s another snippet just for funs 💕
@hippolotamus @eddiebabygirldiaz @shortsighted-owl @daffi-990 @fleurdebeton @chaosandwolves @exhuastedpigeon @hoodie-buck @wh0re-behavi0r @ronordmann @watchyourbuck @thekristen999 @bekkachaos @theotherbuckley @spotsandsocks @suavecitodiaz @tizniz @wikiangela @diazsdimples @shyaudacity
When it’s too quiet and too cold from the hospital air conditioning and the fact that Buck’s been sitting here for hours, he holds Eddie’s hand and rests his head on the bed beside him. It’s not close enough. Eddie’s here but he’s not really here and Buck can only feel absence. Maybe Eddie’s lost somewhere and trying to find his way back. Maybe he’s in his own weird coma world where he’s arguing with himself and nothing makes sense.
No matter what is going on or where he is, Buck wants to be here. Holding on. He can be the anchor, the tether, the one who grounds the other. They’re partners. That’s what they do for each other.
Sometimes, Buck manages to sleep. Like he could only sleep if he’s listening to Eddie breathing. Even if it’s fake, manufactured breathing. It’s still air in his lungs and oxygen through his blood and life in his body. It’s there even if it’s faint. So, Buck rests some. A couple hours here and there.
He’s resting like this one day, his head beside Eddie’s shoulder and his hand wrapped tightly around the hand that doesn’t move or hold his in return, when someone touches his back. At first he pictures Death itself appearing behind him to finally claim Eddie, and Buck rushes to his feet, ready to fight. He would fight Death and all of Hell if he had to.
But the person, the people who are standing in front of him are far more of a surprise than even a personification of mortality.
Eddie’s parents. They’re here. He knows Bobby called them and Buck also talked to them a little. As much as he sort of could after it happened. They talked with Chris. And of course they’d want to be here for the same reason anyone might want to be here.
Because Eddie is dying.
He’s dying and he’ll probably never wake up to even say goodbye. But for now he’s holding on. They all are. So. They’re here.

You have dreaded this day ever since the article was released.
Going back on tour should fill you with joy and excitement but instead it fills you with dread and anxiety. Now that the truth about your dad is out, you can already imagine how awful the following weeks or even months will be. The paparazzis and journalists will be all over the place, throwing awful words and questions at you that you know will upset you even further. You are not ready for that, you don’t think that you will ever be.
You always did everything to keep the truth a secret but now it’s all out in the open.
You don’t even care about the things that they have said about you. They upset you, sure but you can ignore it and move on from that, you don’t let it get to you. Having made up stories about you comes with being in the music industry, especially since you’re the only woman in the band. Lies and rumors will always be created.
After three days of being stuck in Eddie’s trailer, you were now able to go back on the road, since the storm had passed. You loved those three days, you got along so well with Wayne, the man has earned a place in your heart. And Eddie, it was so nice to be around him like that, to fall asleep next to him only to wake up in his arms again.
“It’s gonna be okay, sweetheart.” He whispered to you this morning when you voiced your concern about the tour. “You have me, I won’t leave your side. We’ll get through this together, okay?”
Now you’re here, standing by the tour bus, saying goodbye to Wayne. He wraps his arms around you, pulling you into a warm hug.
“Look after yourself, alright kiddo?”
You chuckle, nodding at his words, “I will.”
“Don’t worry Wayne, she’s in good hands,” Eddie says from behind you.
Wayne squeezes your arms before you pull away, you see the stern look in his eyes as he stares at him, “she better be, Eds.”
On Christmas day, Wayne had confronted you about your relationship with his nephew while Eddie had gone to take a shower.
“What’s going on with you and my boy?” Wayne asked while you were sitting on the couch with drinks in your hands.
“What do you mean?” You asked nervously.
He only chuckled, eyes flickering with amusement, “I may be old but I’m not blind, kid,” he said, “I see the way you look at each other, there’s clearly something. But there’s also pain in your eyes,” he mumbled, pausing to take a deep breath, “he hurt you didn’t he?”
You looked down as your eyes flickered with sadness. You didn’t want to talk badly about Eddie or your relationship to someone that means everything to him.
“It’s alright, you can talk to me, if you want.”
You hesitated for a moment.
“I just– I really love him.”
His eyes softened at your admission, a small smile appearing on his face.
“But he never told me about Chrissy.”
He raised his eyebrows, eyes flickering with shock, he brought his hand up to his face, cupping his cheek as he stared at you, “oh boy..”
“We weren’t together or anything but we were with each other all the time, he told me about you and Steve and his other friends, he told me everything, he just never mentioned her,” you explained, “b-but it’s okay, we talked about it, he opened up to me about their relationship, I guess I understand why he never told me about her..”
Wayne sighed, sympathy crossed his face. With just a single glance at you, he saw the look in your eyes when you looked at Eddie, you are in love with him. He could only imagine how hurt and heartbroken you were.
But he can also see the way Eddie looks at you, he is in love with you.
“I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay,” you smiled, “we’re okay now.”
Wayne was quiet for a moment, he stared at you deep in thought and then a smile tugged at his lips.
“I hope you know that he cares about you, a lot. I think yesterday proved it, when he stormed in like a mad man, that boy was ready to go through the storm to find you,” he paused, “you make him happy, you know? You always did. He called me a lot and all he ever talked about was you. I hope you can give him a second chance ‘cause if there’s someone who deserves it, it’s him.”
“She will always be,” Eddie smiles as he walks towards his uncle to hug him as well, “I’m gonna miss you so much, old man.”
Wayne chuckles, “you’ll see me on Saturday again.”
Eddie’s eyes light up at his words, “right, you got the VIP tickets and everything,” he chuckles, winking at you, “you can bring a date.”
Wayne scoffs, “stop that.”
You both laugh at him and his eye roll.
“I gotta go or I’ll be late for the interview,” Wayne says as he looks at his watch.
“Oh,” you say excitedly, “good luck! I just know they’re gonna hire you.”
Wayne gives you a smile and Eddie chuckles, “of course they will, I put in a good word for you. The night shifts are soon to be over.”
“Hopefully, I got my fingers crossed.”
After one more hug and one last goodbye, Wayne leaves just as Johnny, Gareth and Jeff arrive.
While the other two still look tired, Gareth is already sporting a big smile and a happy look on his face.
“Alright ladies, are we ready to rock ‘n roll again, or what?” Gareth exclaims excitedly as he walks towards the tour bus with a bag in his hand.
Jeff rolls his eyes, “how many coffees did you have this morning?”
“Just three.”
“It’s 10 am!”
“Exactly.”
You missed their banter and you missed them.
The cold morning air is crisp, much more snow is covering the ground, now it truly looks like a winter wonderland.
You put your hands in your warm pockets, looking around the empty street of Hawkins one last time, hoping to come back. The town has grown on you, something about it made you feel at home. Maybe it was just Eddie and Wayne, your new friends and the safe feeling you got from this place or maybe you just always craved a part of this, peace, safety and a family.
Eddie is watching you with a smile on his face, he knows what you are thinking. He is thinking about it too.
He never really liked this town, well, maybe it was only the people that he didn’t like but you made it more bearable, even when you only spent a few moments together in the whole week you were here. Still, the moments that you did spend together, made him happier.
Maybe one day, he can come back here with you, to stay here.
“You’re not leaving without saying goodbye, are you?”
Both you and Eddie turn around with smiles on your faces. You’ve said goodbye to everyone last night, yet most of Eddie’s and your friends are here now.
Robin is the first to approach you and wrap her arms around you.
“I’m gonna miss you so much, rockstar,” she says as she squeezes you tightly.
You smile as you hug her back, meeting Steve’s eyes, your smile widens when he waves at you.
“I’m gonna miss you too, Robin. You should come to Chicago on Saturday, Steve’s coming too.”
“Oh trust me, I’m gonna be there,” she says, grinning at you as she pulls away, “I can’t wait to see you on the big stage.”
“And what about me? Are you excited to see me?” Eddie asks her as he ruffles Dustin’s hair who slaps his hand away in annoyance.
She scrunches her face up, shrugging, “eh, not really,” she teases.
He squints his eyes at her, “you love me, Robin,” he grins.
“No, I really don’t.”
Shaking your head at them, you walk towards Steve.
“Hi,” you whisper.
“Hi,” he smiles, “you ready to go back on tour?”
You shake your head, “not really but it’s gonna be fine,” you shrug.
He nods, looking over your shoulder and at his friends, he reaches for your hand and pulls you away, leading you behind the tour bus.
He blushes as he runs his fingers through his hair, letting go of your hand, he reaches into the pocket of his coat, “I uh– I got you something.”
You raise your eyebrows, eyes flashing with curiosity.
“I got it a few days ago, before the whole thing at the trailer,” he says quietly, “I know we already exchanged presents and all but I wanted to wait with this.”
“Why?”
He shrugs as he scratches the back of his neck.
Your eyes soften as he hands you the little box, you glance into his eyes before you look down at the present, you open it to find a pretty necklace, a pendant with a bird on it, it’s wings are open. It’s beautiful. You touch it with your fingertips, a soft smile appearing on your face.
“Birds stand for freedom, you know?”
You pick the necklace out of the box and look up at him, smiling, “yeah?”
He nods. “You’re free too, just remember that you can do anything you want, you can always dream bigger, you can go wherever you want, it’s your life, you get to choose what will happen.”
Your chest warms at his words.
“You’re cute, you know that right?” You chuckle.
He shrugs, jutting his lip out as he smirks, “yeah, yeah. I know.”
You can see the blush on his cheeks, the nervous look in his eyes.
“I love it, Steve.”
“You do?” He asks as his eyes lighten up.
You nod, “it’s beautiful, thank you!”
“You’re welcome,” he smiles.
“Help me put it on?” You ask as you hold the necklace out to him. He whispers a small ‘of course’ as he takes it from your hand. You turn around, standing with your back towards him. You move your hair to the side as he moves his arms around you, placing the silver necklace around your neck.
“That better be my lucky charm now,” you joke as you look down at the necklace with a smile on your face. You turn around to face him again.
“It will be,” he winks.
“I’m gonna miss you, Steve.”
His gaze softens at your words.
“I’m gonna miss you too,” he whispers as he opens his arms for you. You step towards him, falling into his embrace, you lay your head on his chest and wrap your arms around him. He holds you tightly and closes his eyes.
He finds himself wishing that he didn’t have to say goodbye. You have grown so much on him, you became a part of his life.
“Maybe I should put you in my suitcase and take you with me,” you joke as you pull away from him.
“I don’t think I’ll fit in there, honey,” he laughs, eyes twinkling as they lock with yours, “you can still hire me as your stylist,” he jokes as he puts his hand on your back, leading you back to the others.
“Yeah, maybe I should,” you chuckle.
“You better come back to Hawkins again, y/n,” Dustin says as he walks towards you with a grin on his face, “we didn’t even get to go to the arcade together!” He frowns.
“Next time, alright?” You smile as you pull the younger boy into a hug, “I’m gonna come visit after the tour and we can go to the arcade together.”
“We better!”
You hug Lucas and Max next, squeezing both of them tightly before you press a kiss to their cheeks, almost bursting into laughter when they turn towards each other with wide eyes and excited looks on their faces. They squeal when you turn away from them, missing the amused look on Robin’s face as she stares at them.
Eddie pulls away from Steve’s hug, saying something to him that you can’t make out. His brown eyes meet yours and he smiles, “ready?”
You nod.
Eddie waits for you to get on the tour bus first but you turn towards Steve one more time. He raises his brows, a smile tugging at his lips as you approach him one more time. Reaching your hands out, you cup his cheeks and stand on your tippy toes, pulling him towards you, you kiss his cheek, leaving a lipstick mark on his skin.
Robin and Dustin chuckle in the back, their laughter only getting louder when they see Eddie’s eye roll.
Steve chuckles as well, blushing at your sweet action.
He cups your cheeks now, giving you a big kiss on the cheek too, just barely missing your lips.
“Alright,” Eddie rolls his eyes, shaking his head, “let’s go, sweetheart.”
You and Steve giggle at each other, he ruffles your hair, “take care of yourself, yeah?”
“I will.”
“I’m always one phone call away,” he whispers.
“I know,” you smile as you squeeze his hand before you step away.
“Goodbye Stevie.”
His eyes flash with bittersweet sadness, though he will see you in a week again, he knows things will be different. This is a different goodbye.
You pick out the necklace from beneath your shirt, reaching for the pendant, you give it a kiss.
“Goodbye Stevie.”
He smiles at your action, eyes following you as you step on the tour bus, his smile falls a little.
“Goodbye honey,” he whispers.
Eddie watches him closely, their conversation is still deep on his mind.
Both men look at each other, a mutual understanding flashing in their eyes.
“Take care of her.”
Eddie nods, “of course.”
-
“You know, I missed this.”
“Hotel rooms?”
Eddie chuckles, stealing a fry off your plate, he dips it in ketchup before eating it, “hotel rooms with you.”
You smile, watching as he licks his lips, missing the ketchup on the corner of his mouth. You reach your hand out towards his face, wiping the condiment off, you look into each other’s eyes as you bring your thumb back to your lips, licking it clean.
A blush takes over his face and he looks down with a smile on his face.
“I missed it too.”
“Yeah? You did?”
You nod, humming at his question.
Neither of you want to think of the few lonely nights you spent without each other after the night in Cincinnati. It feels wrong to even think of the moments you weren’t with each other.
Eddie can look at you with the same happiness in his eyes as before everything. You are here with him, wearing his shirt again. Your hair is still wet from the shower you took earlier, the necklace that Steve got you, hanging around your neck.
The first day back on tour was mostly spent on the tour bus and the hotel. Rob, your tour manager won’t be here until tomorrow morning.
The following days you will be busy with interviews and photoshoots before the concert on Saturday. Eddie isn’t sure if you are ready for it but he will be by your side, every step of the way.
“What’re you thinking about?” You ask as you push your half eaten plate of food away from you, reaching for your coke, you take a sip before placing it back on the tray.
“How do you know I’m thinking about something?” He asks as he eats the rest of his burger.
“You always have that look in your eyes,” you explain, eyes flashing with amusement, “and you’re a nervous eater, you always scarf down the food when you’re deep in thought, which you just did,” you chuckle.
He furrows his brows, chewing his food slowly, he tilts his head.
He steals your coke, drinking half of it which you don’t even seem to mind. You’ll share everything with him.
“Really?”
“Yeah,” you breathe.
“Huh, I never realized,” he chuckles, scratching the back of his neck, “I guess you’re right. I’m always reaching for snacks when I feel stressed but then again, I always think about food.”
“A real taurus,” you chuckle.
He laughs but nods in agreement.
“So… what were you thinking about?” You ask again.
He chews on his bottom lip for a moment, “I don’t wanna ruin the mood right now.”
Eying the concern on his face and the uncertainty in his eyes, you already know what this is about.
“It’s about the article isn’t it?” You ask.
He sighs, nodding.
“What about it?”
“I-I just, I’m worried about you,” he says as he scoots closer to you, reaching his hand out, he grabs it and places it in his, “the journalists, the press… the fucking paparazzis will be everywhere, it’s gonna be brutal, sweetheart.”
Yes, they will be but you will be fine, you have to be.
“It’s okay, Eddie,” you whisper, “I’m not gonna cry, break down or get angry at them, I won’t give them that satisfaction. They asked about my dad before, remember?”
He nods. He remembers that interview, the way you tensed up and looked like you were actually on the verge of a breakdown.
“It was just a rumor, back then no one even knew anything about it,” you shrug, “this can be treated like a rumor as well, some asshole ‘made’ that shit up about my dad. Once they see that it has no effect on me, they’ll leave me alone. There’s no proof, no one was there that night, no one except for me.”
His eyes flash with sadness at the mention of that night. You opened up more about that night, telling him about what you came home to.
“They talked shit about me before, remember that one article they wrote about me?”
He nods, rolling his eyes in anger.
He was so focused on you, he didn’t think about how it would affect him. His first priority is you. He wants to protect you, be there for you and take care of you. But he also knows that the following weeks or even months will be a challenge for him as well, he will deal with anger, too much of it. Anger for all the people that try to harm you in any way.
“Then it’s nothing new,” you shrug, trying to play it cool, “sure, it’ll be a lot and I can already hear the disrespectful questions from all those asshole journalists and paparazzis but fuck it, you either ignore them or you… take it easy.”
“Take it easy?” He scoffs, “how am I supposed to take it easy when they’ll attack you?”
“Eddie, they won’t attack me,” you sigh.
Your gaze softens, your heart flutters in his chest as you look into his eyes. He cares so much about you, it’s something you never realized before Christmas.
“Something that I learned is, you gotta act like you don’t give a fuck about anything, you gotta shrug things off, play it cool, throw sarcastic comments at them, maybe mean ones too, anything to make them leave you alone. My dad taught me that, it always worked out for him. Once they realize that they can’t use a single fucking thing against you, they will get bored.”
Eddie blinks as he stares at you.
“That’s what I’m gonna do and it’s what I want you to do. It’s about taking care of yourself, protecting yourself, Eddie.”
You are strong, so much stronger than him. You allowed yourself to grieve, you allowed yourself to break down and cry and for a moment you were broken, maybe you still are but you got up again.
“Don’t let them see how broken you are, it’s what they want. You put on a mask in front of these fuckers and you only take it off in front of people who truly care about you. You can cry and be angry but not in front of people who wanna see that.”
Eddie remembers the way you put that mask on, after you had just found out about Chrissy, your heart broke, you were angry and sad and yet you managed to hide those feelings in front of strangers. No matter how hurt you were, you were always able to hide it.
“And honestly? I’m more concerned about who spilled.”
“Who knew about your dad?” Eddie asks, furrowing his brows.
You look down, staring at his hand, you play with the new rings on his fingers, the ones that you got for him.
“Sam, Rob and my mom. That’s all, I didn’t even tell my friends,” you mumble, “it obviously wasn’t Sam or Rob, so I guess that just leaves my mom.”
There is something you are not telling him, he can see it on your face and he can hear it in your voice. The room falls silent, the candle light flickers. Eddie rubs circles into your skin, staring at you with curiosity in his eyes.
“Who else knew?”
You hesitate. Your eyes meet his again.
“Sweetheart–”
“Chrissy and Jason knew.”
He draws back a little as his eyes widen, his lips parting in shock.
“W-What?”
You take a deep breath.
“Yeah uh– that night at the hideout, Chrissy followed me out to talk, then Steve and Jason followed us out as well. She just dropped that on me, in front of Steve too, I didn’t want anyone to know, Eddie. At first, I didn’t know how they found out but I kinda figured that my mom told them.”
“What the fuck,” Eddie mumbles as his eyes flash with anger.
“She is the only one who could’ve told them,” you frown, “I called her, she was weird, weirder than usual so… and I honestly don’t think that it was Chrissy, if anything it was her sleazeball boyfriend and her bitchy mom.”
“You don’t think it was Chrissy?” Eddie asks with a confused look on his face, “she had it out for you.”
You sigh, shaking your head, “I talked to her the night before Christmas Eve, I was at the diner and she was there too..”
“Jesus,” he sighs, running his fingers through his hair, he clenches his jaw, eying you in concern. He can already imagine what kind of things she has said to you, “did she–”
“She was.. nice,” you mumble, “we talked normally. I don’t think it was her, I have a feeling that it wasn’t.”
Eddie is still suspicious but he doesn’t say anything.
“Her mom is religious, right?”
Eddie nods, “yeah, Jason too,” he rolls his eyes.
You chuckle, shaking your head, “trust me, it was them. I don’t know why they would care and I have no fucking clue how they found my mom but they must have given her a lot of money.”
“Wait what?”
“Oh, all she cares about is money, Eddie. You pay her a good amount and she’ll tell you anything you wanna know.”
Eddie raises his brows, a sigh leaving his lips as he shakes his head. He squeezes your hand, “I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay, I-I just wanna move on from this, you know?”
He nods.
“Okay,” he whispers, “but why didn’t you tell me about Jason and Chrissy’s mom?”
“I didn’t want you to get into a fight with that asshole, it’s whatever. In the end it doesn’t even matter who sold that fucking story, it won’t be the first scandalous article, there will be many more.”
He would have definitely gotten into a fight with Jason and cuss the old Cunningham witch out, god knows how many times he had done it before when she would comment on Chrissy’s weight, not only was she horrible to her own daughter, now she also managed to find a way to hurt you, you who had absolutely nothing to do with her.
“I wanna beat his face in and put nair in her shampoo,” he grumbles as his eyes darken.
Eddie was always protective of the people he loves, of his friends and family but he had never felt this kind of protective before.
You snort at his words.
“I’m serious!”
“Okay,” you giggle, “that witch is gonna lose her hair at some point, karma will get her. Same with Jason, he’ll get what he deserves.”
“But still, I wanna hurt him.”
“You already did.”
“That punch wasn’t enough.”
“I’m sure an asshole like him will get many more punches in his lifetime.”
“He better.”
Sighing, you let go of his hand, taking the food tray, you place it on the ground before you lay down, placing your feet on the soft cushions and your hand on your stomach.
Eddie looks at you, smile tugging at his lips.
You reach for the necklace beneath your shirt and curiosity sparks inside of him.
He lays down next to you, placing his elbow on the soft pillow, he cups his cheek as he stares down at you.
“Can I ask you something?”
You turn to look at him, rolling over on your side so you can face him.
“How do you really feel about Steve?” He asks, “I-I’m not angry or jealous, just curious. I can tell that he means something to you,” he says, reaching for the necklace he got you.
You hold your finger to your lips as you think about his questions.
Eddie waits patiently.
“Why are you asking me this?”
“I just, I see the way you’re around him,” he explains, “you’re comfortable with him, it’s different than with others, even your friends.”
“I just really like him. He is kind of amazing.”
“Kind of?” He smiles.
“Very amazing,” you chuckle, rolling your eyes, “you’re still my favorite.”
His smile widens, heart skipping a beat. You put your hand on his arm, squeezing it.
“But how do you feel about him, Eddie?”
He draws his brows together as he gives you a questioning look. It makes you giggle. You were surprised about the kiss they had shared that one night, it didn’t exactly seem like it was their first kiss.
“How many times have you kissed him before?”
“Oh,” Eddie breathes, chuckling. His cheeks grow red.
“Or did you do…. more?”
He shakes his head, “no, sweetheart. It was just a few kisses.”
“A few kisses?” You chuckle.
He nods as his eyes fall on the necklace that he is still holding between his fingers, he scoots closer to you.
“Yeah, a few drunken kisses,” he snorts.
“That’s all?”
“That’s all.”
“You never wanted to go further than that?”
“I mean, back then I did,” he admits shyly.
“Oh my god,” you exclaim, your eyes flash with excitement at this new revelation, you push him back and place your hands on his chest, “tell me everything.”
He laughs at your curiosity, not wasting a moment to put his hands on your back.
“I was kinda into him but wasn’t sure if he’d be open for more than just a few kisses, you know?”
You nod.
“So I never tried,” he shrugs, “and then Chrissy asked me out so I never really thought about it again.”
“Oh,” you pout.
He chuckles, placing his hand under your chin, “what’s that pout for, sweetheart?”
“I think you and Steve would’ve been cute together,” you say, giggling.
“Shut up,” he laughs, rolling his eyes at you.
“You know who would be cute together?”
You shake your head, placing your chin on his chest, you brush your fingers through his curls, making him smile.
“You and I, we’d be cute together,” he smiles. His eyes are soft, filled with nothing but adoration and love.
Warmth rushes through your chest a smile tugs at your lips but you pretend to be skeptical, “hmm… you really think so?”
He playfully glares at you, “of course!”
“But I wouldn’t stand a chance if you were dating Steve,” you say, pretending to be jealous.
He almost laughs, shaking his head at you.
“Baby, we’re both obsessed with you,” he chuckles as he digs his fingers into your sides, tickling you.
“Eddie!” You laugh, pushing his hands away.
“If I was dating Steve and you came along, we’d both fall for you and just date you both.”
Your lips part in surprise, your eyes widen, “oh?”
He chuckles at the expression on your face.
“And what if I didn’t want to have two boyfriends?”
“But we’d treat you like a queen. You’d be the happiest girl in the world.”
You chuckle, blushing at his words.
“Hmm, maybe two boyfriends aren’t too bad,” you whisper, “should we call Steve?”
“No!”
You giggle when he wraps his arms around you and flips you over.
“No? I thought I could have two boyfriends.”
“I never said that,” he points out, giving you a stern look, “that would’ve happened if I dated Steve in the past. You are the only one that I need and I’m the only one that you need.”
Your heart flutters and so does his when you cup his cheek.
“You do have a soft spot for Steve though,” you whisper.
It’s the truth. Out of all his friends, Steve was always his closest one, even though there’s people in his life that he had known much longer. Steve was different, you found a place in his heart. Eddie hated to admit it but he did.
He was sick with jealousy when you had been with him but he always felt relieved that it wasn’t another man. It was just Steve. He always trusted him and he knew that you were safe with him.
“As do you.”
Yes.
Maybe the both of you have a bit of a soft spot for the handsome dork, he grew on you and a part of you hated the thought of him being all alone again. A part of you feels guilty, you gave him something, only to take it away again.
“I feel like an asshole.”
“What?”
His eyes are filled with guilt as he looks up at the ceiling.
“The night at the trailer, Steve and I got into a fight… kinda.”
“What? Why?”
“He admitted that he likes you. I asked him if he loves you but he didn’t say anything. He looked pretty upset about the fact that you like.. me.”
You talked about this with Steve. He told you that he has no feelings for you, that it was nothing but an attachment he had formed.
“I got angry and we started saying stuff to each other, then it all led to that moment.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah,” he sighs, “I feel bad, I-I didn’t want to accept that he may have feelings for you, I was scared that I would lose you because of it but when he gave you that necklace, I felt bad for him.”
Your eyes soften and you frown at his words, “w-why?”
“Because he didn’t want to let you go and yeah, maybe it’s just a friend not wanting to let go of someone that means the world to them and I know what it’s like to watch you leave, I know what he feels like. Losing you is the most painful thing, sweetheart.”
“I don’t ever wanna lose you,” he whispers as he presses a gentle kiss to your knuckles, “even if you decide to leave me in the end, I will never leave you, no matter what.”
Tears well up in your eyes.
Eddie doesn’t understand what weight his words hold. He doesn’t know that this small moment, these simple words might have saved you.
You know that he will stand by your side.
And as long as you have him, you know that you will be alright.
-
Cruel words and weird stares were expected when you left the hotel the next day, you successfully managed to ignore them though. You don’t let these things get to you. You’ve become an expert at building walls up around you, ones that no one can tear down, least of all strangers who have no relations to you.
You make it through the interview, you manage to get through the photoshooting and even the talk show that the band has been invited to.
The journalists weren’t the nicest people to deal with, they of course used the article as an excuse to ask you questions that you have felt uncomfortable to answer but as you have told Eddie, you put on a fake smile and acted as though it had absolutely no effect on you.
You noticed the concerned glances of your friends, Jeff asked you how you were doing multiple times, Gareth tried to lighten your mood while Rob and Johnny tried to distract you by talking about the upcoming concert.
Eddie held your hand through it all, comforting you with his touches and encouraging smiles.
You appreciate them but most of all him.
You tried to think of anything but the mess that you had gotten in, which was quite the challenge considering that people brought it up, constantly.
Friday rolled around and you were happy to be back on stage for rehearsals. You haven’t sung since the night at the hideout and you missed it.
You and Eddie tried to keep your touches to a minimum but it was difficult to do so, you just couldn’t stay away from him and neither could he. It was nice to hold his hand again and sing with him.
You have gotten to the venue in the morning, a few hours have passed since then and you have decided to take a break.
With a cup of coffee in your hand, you sit down on the ground and flip through the pages in your notebook.
The guys went out to eat, you didn’t feel like leaving the venue, not when you know that there’s a bunch of people waiting out there for you. Eddie had wanted to stay back but you know that he hasn’t eaten anything since last night so you had to convince him to get food with the others.
He only begrudgingly agreed, not wanting to leave you alone but eventually he caved, especially when his stomach grumbled. He promised to get you something as well before he left.
You hear heavy footsteps and a loud sigh, you don’t have to look behind you to see who it is.
“What’re you doing, kid?” Rob asks as he sits down across from you, a cup of coffee in one hand and a cigarette in his other.
“Just going through a new song text that I wrote.”
“Oh, you wrote a new one?” He asks with a smile on his face.
“Yes, started working on it a while back, do you wanna read it?”
“Sure.”
You turn your notebook around and slide it towards him. “I thought that this could be on the next album.”
He raises his brow and smiles, “next album, huh?”
You nod, “yeah, I mean I hope we can make one.”
“With the way things are going, I can’t see why not,” he shrugs before he breaks eye contact, placing his mug on the floor, he reaches for the notebook. Placing his cigarette between his lips, he squints his eyes as he starts to read.
You shake your head at the expression on his face, that man refuses to get himself some reading glasses.
You take a sip of your warm coffee and look around the empty room, the one that will be filled with thousands of people tomorrow night.
“Sounds angry,” he chuckles, “and very emotional.”
“I was very angry and emotional,” you nod, laughing.
“I can tell.”
“Whenever I’m angry or sad, I get inspired…. Is that weird?”
He smiles as he shakes his head slowly, “no, kid. It’s not weird, it’s your way of dealing with it. Which is good because at least there’s a great outcome from it. Other’s turn to other things when they are in pain.”
You swallow, nodding at his words.
“Yeah, drugs, alcohol and sex.”
His eyes widen as he nods in agreement, “that’s right. I’ve been there myself, it’s not good. It feels good in the moment but you always come back from it, you sober up and when you do, you feel like absolute shit so you drown yourself in it again and again. You don’t want to but you do, despite knowing how fucking awful it is. You want to stop but the moment you’re in it, it just seems impossible and the longer you do it, you get more and more lost.”
“Yeah,” you breathe, nodding, “you lose your way out.”
“You really do. That’s why you should never even start with it because the moment you do, all those fuckers out there,” he says, pointing into a random direction, his cigarette still between his fingers, “the ones who are waiting for your downfall, they all fucking win. Everything they said about you, becomes true and you don’t want that. You gotta do what’s best for you, you gotta be better and stronger than them.”
“But what if you realize that you are not strong?”
“Then you gotta find that strength, you look for the light and hold on to that. Don’t succumb to darkness.”
Rob’s words echo in your mind for the rest of the day, playing on repeat.
You found your light and you will hold onto that, no matter what.
-
“Are you ready?” Gareth grins at you, wiggling his brows.
“Yeah, I’m ready,” you chuckle, giving him a confused look, “why are you acting so suspicious?”
“Me, suspicious?” He gasps, shaking his head, “why would I act suspicious?”
“I don’t know, you tell me.”
You look behind his shoulder, smiling at Steve who looks away from Eddie, his eyes lock with yours and he smiles.
Robin is watching the opening act with a look of awe in her eyes, Wayne next to her.
The backstage crew is rushing around, preparing for your concert.
“Can you believe that all these people came here for you?”
You furrow your brows, laughing, “they came for us,” you mumble.
“No, they came for you.”
He looks behind you with a smirk on his face. You’re just about to turn around to see what he is looking at when a pair of hands cover your eyes.
“Guess who.”
You gasp at the sound of her voice, almost squealing in excitement, you grab her hands and turn around.
“Jamie?” You exclaim as you meet the eyes of your best friend.
She grins at you, happiness flashing in her eyes, she pulls you into a tight hug.
“I missed you so much.”
You close your eyes, blinking away the happy tears, you squeeze her tightly.
“I missed you too, Jaims.”
“Alright, move over, Jamie. It’s my time.”
Your eyes snap open and you just now notice the other two girls. Frankie and Wren rush towards you with excited squeals. They both wrap their arms around you, pulling you into a group hug.
You giggle as Frankie presses her lips to your cheek, “I missed you so much, babe!”
“How?” You ask as you look at your friends in surprise.
Jeff comes up behind Wren, pulling your friend into his arms, “we thought you could use some time with your friends,” he grins at you.
“Wait,” you look at him with a smile on your face before you turn to Gareth, “you guys planned this?”
“It was Eddie’s idea,” he shrugs, “I almost blurted it out the other day though.”
Your gaze softens, heart warming. You turn around, looking at Eddie who is already staring at you with a smile on his face.
‘Thank you,’ you mouth to him.
“Of course, you can never keep your mouth shut,” Jamie snorts at him.
“Hey! I did keep my mouth shut!”
You shake your head, turning back to your friends, you stare at them for a moment. It’s been months since you had last seen them. Wren’s hair is longer than it was before, a happy smile is lingering on her face as she hugs Jeff.
“How are you guys?”
“Oh, Wren and I are fine,” Jamie says to you before she looks at Frankie who has that flicker in her eyes, “this one though, crazy in love.”
Your eyes widen, you look her up and down, not only is she blushing like crazy, there’s also something on her hand that you haven’t seen before.
“I-Is that an engagement ring?” You gape at her, reaching for her hand to stare at it.
“Yes,” she squeals.
“Wow, I– where’s this coming from?” You laugh, eying the beautiful ring, “who’s that lucky guy?”
She opens her mouth to speak but is quickly cut off by Wren, “before she rambles your ear off, his name is Thomas, he is rich and crazy obsessed with her.”
“And he has a yacht!” Frankie exclaims with a happy smile on her face.
You pull her into another hug, “congrats, you always wanted a yacht,” you giggle.
“Hi guys.”
For a moment, your friends all fall silent at the sound of Eddie’s voice, it almost makes you nervous that they know about what happened. You didn’t tell them, you didn’t want to, especially not over the phone.
Eddie places his hand on your back, waving at them awkwardly.
They all greet him after a moment, giving him small smiles. It makes you relax a little but then they lay their eyes on Steve, who stands on the other side of you.
You introduce them to him, your friends eye him in curiosity, you can already hear the questions coming the moment they get you alone again.
They share teasing grins when they notice how both men look at you. Their grins only get bigger when you call Steve ‘Stevie’.
Jeff excuses himself, pulling Wren along with him. You smirk to yourself when you see them walking into one of the backstage rooms.
Gareth walks off as well as he mumbles something under his breath, leaving you standing here with two men on both your sides and your very curious best friends.
Jamie falls into a conversation with Eddie and Steve but quickly finds something more entertaining behind you, you follow her gaze. Robin.
She is staring at Robin.
A mischievous smile appears on your face, the blush on her face deepens when Robin turns around, meeting your friend’s eyes. Jamie was the one who teased you the most when she found out about your feelings for Eddie, you will enjoy this.
“So which one of them are you dating right now?” Frankie whispers into your ear after pulling you away from the group.
“W-What?” You chuckle.
She grins, playing with her red hair as she leans closer to you, “are you dating both?” She asks, “I know you always loved those love triangle books.”
“Oh my god,” you groan.
She turns to look at them, catching the look on Steve’s face as he stares at Eddie.
“Oh uh, babes, I think he has a crush on your man.”
You follow her gaze to see Steve nodding along to Eddie’s words, smiling at him.
You almost burst into laughter.
“Wait no–” she cuts herself off, Steve looks at you for a brief moment, “wait…”
“What?” You chuckle.
Her eyes are squinted, she looks at them and then at you, eyes moving back and forth, “did you…” Her eyes widen and she gasps before she even finishes her questions, before you even say anything, “you did, didn’t you!”
“Did what?” You laugh, acting clueless but the flustered look on your face and the nervous smile gives it away.
“You know what,” she wiggles her brows.
“No…” You say in a hushed whisper, hoping that no one can hear you or see the look on your face, “we didn’t–”
“Yes you did, you naughty girl,” she smirks.
“I-It wasn’t, we didn’t.. not actually,” you stutter, rolling your eyes as you cross your arms over your chest.
“Not actually?” She asks with wide eyes, “but you did something.”
“It was just… a little something.” Not an actual threesome, you think to yourself.
“A little something, huh?” She grins.
Shaking your head, you roll your eyes playfully.
“Nothing too crazy.”
“How did that even happen?” She gasps, giggling like a schoolgirl, “I thought you and Eddie were dating all this time.”
“We weren’t– aren’t dating.”
She draws back, scrunching her face up, “you’re kidding right?”
You shake your head, “nope.”
“I’m not buying that, that man,” she points to Eddie who turns to look at you with a smile on his face, “he is head over heels for you.” And then her eyes fall on Steve, “and that one too…. maybe, I’m not sure yet.”
You shake your head, sighing.
“Who’s head over heels for who?” Wren whispers in your ear as she sneaks up behind you.
“Eddie and his boyfriend.”
Wren giggles and you roll your eyes with a smile on your face.
“Oh my god,” Wren laughs, “look at you, you became a rockstar and got yourself two boyfriends, have you adopted any kids yet?” She jokes.
You chuckle, “should I?”
“Yeah, you should make them both daddies.”
“Jesus Christ…” you groan.
“Who’s gonna be your new year’s kiss tonight? Which one is getting the first smooch?”
They both giggle at the flustered expression on your face, teasing you with their eyes when both men walk up to you again, standing on both sides of you like before.
“You ready to go on stage, sweetheart?” Eddie smiles excitedly as he reaches for your hand.
You nod, ignoring the giggles of your friends.
“Good luck, honey.”
They whisper behind your back, mimicking their pet names for you before they giggle again.
You already know, their teasing will be never ending and this night will be a long one.

The Hoodie Mistake
Look, I haven’t touched my wips in weeks. My motivation for those just isn’t here and I don’t want to rush them and hate the outcome. So, for now I’m just gonna write stuff I actually find motivation for! Annnnd since @i-less-than-three-you AND @strangersteddierthings made me sad with their angst pieces, I needed fluff and some fun, sooo here we go!
Tumblr media
Blurry eyed and running late, he doesn’t even double check the hoodie he grabs. All he does is pull it on, throws on some jeans and shoes before heading out.
Minding his own business, unlike everyone else in town, he doesn’t notice the stares at first. Or at all, actually. He’s too focused on to Gareth’s place, doesn’t want the guys to complain again.
“Ah-Ha! Look who’s finally decided to join us!”
He rolls his eyes, flipping Gareth off and walking further inside, “Yeah yeah”
Gareth crackles, bring his own middle finger up before closing the door. The rest of the guys are in the kitchen, half a pizza sitting on the table. “The majesty has entered, my friends.”
Both Jeff and Frankie look at him before laughing more, Gareth joining them as Eddie grumbles and picking up a slice. “Yeah yeah, laugh it up.”
It’s only once the laughter dies down and his friends stare at him with confusion and a lot of amusement. “What, do I have something on my face?”
They shake their heads, ignore his question and move into the garage.
“GUYS! HELLO!” He hops up to follow them when the mirror catches his attention. Freezing, he turns fully to really look at himself.
In bold letters across his chest is ‘HAWKINS HIGH SWIMMING’ and he knows without a doubt what it says on his back, in matching bold letters ‘HARRINGTON’ sitting pretty.
In his blind grab, he grabbed Steve’s hoodie instead of his own.
How is it he managed to make it all the way here without someone telling him? At least half the people he went by hate him.
He also makes sure there isn’t any stains on it, even turning around and straining his neck to see. Which thankfully there’s none. Sighing, he shoves his hands in the pocket and decides to head into the questions he knows the guys will ask.
“So, Harrington, ready for practice?”
Groaning, he throws his hands out of the pockets. The guys crackle as he grumbles over to Gareth’s guitar, “I don’t know, are you assholes going to laugh the whole time orrrr?”
Jeff quiets down, pulling his own guitar over him and pointing over, “Where’s the sweetheart?”
“Was the hoodie not enough information?” He’s being petty, he knows. The guys all look at each other before giving him a pointed look, “Fine, look, I slept over at Steve’s place. Sweetheart is at the trailer still, didn’t bother going home. Came straight here”
It’s silent as the information processes in their heads. He messes with the toning of the guitar while it does, also to get his mind and heart to stop racing.
It’s sort of the first time admitting it out loud to his friends.
“You slept over at Harrington’s?” Frankie says slowly and his eyes bounce back to the hoodie, “and now you’re wearing his hoodie?”
Eddie winces just a bit, the tone isn’t harsh. They don’t hate Steve but they definitely still have some dislike him. Or at least doesn’t know the Steve that he knows.
“Yeah and I didn’t mean to wear this hoodie, I overslept and Steve sleeps like the dead.”
It’s almost comical how they all just blink at him.
“You, just left? No like goodbye?”
That makes him blink and he groans before rushing back inside the house to grab the phone and dialing a number he’s memorized like his own.
“Hello?”
“Hey Honey pie”
Steve laughs, “Hey Sugar pie, you left in a hurry”
“Yeah, sorry about that. That practice I told you about” he rubs the back his neck, looking around and seeing that the guys didn’t follow him, “really, baby, I didn’t mean to do that”
“Bambi, it’s okay, really. I have to work in like two hours, it’s not like we could’ve done anything anyway”
He smirks, even though Steve can’t see it. “Oh, we could’ve done so much in that little time”
Steve’s laugh is loud and obnoxious, it’s Eddie’s favorite. He smiles and glances at the clock, “You out late today? We could do something tonight”
“Seven tonight but Robin wants to do a movie night, soulmate overrules the boyfriend. Her words, not mine”
He snorts and shakes his head, “can the boyfriend crash the movie night?”
“That’s up to Birdie, you know how she can be. If not tonight, we can do something tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow works too”
He doesn’t have to know that Steve’s grinning, he can see it already. His sunshine is contagious even over the phone.
“I’ll see you tomorrow then, sweet boy”
“Tomorrow, lover boy”
They hang up and practice is smooth and fun. It’s a chaotic mess too, but that’s normal for them. After it they decide to catch a movie together and some food, it’s a good day even with that mild panic for a bit.
(Robin doesn’t allow him to crash movie night. Stating that it was only a Soulmate Movie Night. Eddie does end up climbing into Steve’s bed after midnight though.)
~
It’s a little silly thing.
Background information that’s not needed but I’ll tell you anyway: Steve and Eddie have been in a relationship for a few weeks, just a little over two months. The CC guys end up falling a little in love with Steve after he bakes them brownies. Robin was originally the only one to know about Steddie. After this incident, Eddie refuses to give up the hoodie.
Hope you enjoy this!! If you see any mistakes let me know and if you have any kind of prompts, send them my way 🥰
ALSO! Beware, I’m also going to work on some angst pieces specifically for Katy & Jess 😘

Pairing: Eddie Munson x F!Reader
Prompt: “I think I love you, you idiot.”
Warning: language, very very very light hurt/comfort but mostly fluff, friends to lovers(really lovers to official lovers), pet names
A/N: a bit longer then I normally write for these, but I got a little carried away haha. Hope you enjoy! Was this based on something I said in my D&D game on Friday? Yes. I was very proud of it.
Tumblr media
“Lady Y/N,” Eddie looks at you, his eyebrow was quirked up as he sent you a cocky smile, “it’s your turn.” He says, gesturing at the game map on the table in front of him as he sat in his throne.
It was Friday night. Hellfire night. The best night of the week. The night where you got to play pretend with your favorite people. Your favorite of them all being Eddie Munson.
You looked him up and down, a small confident smile rested on your face, “How many hit points does this guy have?”
“Let’s just say he looks pretty fucked up.” Eddie chuckled as he leaned back in the chair, his arms rested on the armrests as he laced his fingers in front of him. He locked eyes with you, his large, owlish, ones sparkled in amusement.
“I’m going to walk up to him. I place my hand on his shoulder as I just ever so lightly graze the tip of my sword along his cheek and I say, ‘Now do you want to feel the sting of my blade? Or would you like to actually walk out of here alive?’” The group around you made various “oooohs!”, but your eyes were locked with Eddie’s. He stared you down, face unchanging as he sized you up.
“Roll an intimidation check.” He said simply.
You rolled your D20 and watched it bounce along the game map, “15 plus 9, 24!” You shouted.
Eddie’s face broke out in a large smile and he clapped his hands together loudly as he laughed. “He flees! As he should, I wouldn’t want to cross Lady Y/N, right boys?” He asked the room as the rest of the party shouted their excitement at the victory. “That’s it for tonight kids, see you next time.” This was met by a few groans, but eventually the room dissolved into loud chatter as everyone got ready to go.
“Hey, could you stay after?” Eddie asked once you finished packing up. You felt your heart hammer in your chest as you nodded your head.
You and Eddie had an interesting relationship you could say. Not quite together, but definitely not just friends. You’d hang out together, seemingly as friends, and end up making out on his couch or in the back of his van.
You wanted more, so much more with him. But you didn’t want to lose what you had now by asking for a commitment. Eddie was sweet, more than he let on to anyone but you, so you knew he would at least let you down nicely. But you weren’t sure if you could face him after the rejection.
Your relationship was very physical when you were alone, but it was also incredibly emotional at times. With the two of you running to each other in your hardest of times. Eddie told you things he had never told anyone, and let himself be more vulnerable with you than he had been with another person ever. What you had was special, and you didn’t want it to end. You just didn’t want to hide it anymore.
The room cleared out and as you said your last goodbye, you looked around and found yourself alone with Eddie. The room felt charged, with what you weren’t sure, but there was something new and intense sparkling behind the look the metalhead sent you. He didn’t break eye contact as he sauntered over to where you were standing at the other end of the table.
Eddie wasn’t great with personal space, he usually managed to get into peoples bubbles somehow. But when you were alone, it’s like personal space didn’t even exist. His hands were always on you, as if they were magnetized to your skin. There was always practically no space between you two, as he always kept you flush with him. And if he had his way, his mouth would be kissing any part of you he could reach at all times. It’s like he was obsessed and couldn’t get enough of you, but only in private.
His hands found their way around your waist as he pressed you up against the table. He gave you a heated look before his lips came crashing on yours. You felt him smirk against you as you let out an involuntary moan into the kiss. Proud to be the cause of such a response from you.
“Christ sweetheart, that last line you said. It was so hot.” He said in between hurried, feverish kisses. “My girl, such a badass.”
“My girl”
Not a new phrase, but one you couldn’t stop thinking about once you heard it. Why would he call you that just to keep you hidden?
“Eddie.” You gasped out once he started kissing along your jaw. He let out an appreciative hum against your skin as you said his name. “Eddie, wait.” You managed, pulling yourself from his affectionate assault. He pulled back, lips kiss swollen and pink, eyes half lidded.
“What is it, pretty girl?” He cooed, a fond look on his face.
“What is this Eddie?” You blurted out, the metalhead cocked his head to the side in confusion. “What is this? What are we? We do this every couple days, but only in secret. You call me your girl, but only alone.” You stammered out quickly, watching Eddie closely as you did. “Are-are you ashamed of me?” You asked finally, you couldn’t keep the hurt and insecurity out of your voice.
Eddie looked surprised for a moment but quickly shook his head once he heard how upset you sounded, “Sweetheart, I’m not ashamed of you at all, or what we have.” He started.
“Then why aren’t we public? Why am I hidden away?” You interrupted.
Eddie sighed and brought his forehead to rest against your own, he looked at you through his lashes, “Cause I didn’t want to make your life harder here. You already have a hard enough time being the freak of Hawkin High's friend, imagine how much worse it’d be for you as my girlfriend.” He briefly closed his eyes and took a deep breath as if he was working up to something, “I was finally gonna ask you to be mine at graduation, then we wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore. I’m crazy about you Y/N, you have to know that.”
It was your turn to look surprised but you recovered quickly at the uncertain look on his face, “I don’t give a shit about what these assholes say Eddie. I’m fucking crazy about you too, and I don’t want to wait.” You said firmly, a confident smile pulling at your lips. “I think I love you, you idiot.”
Eddie looked utterly shell shocked. You love him? He hadn’t heard someone say that to him in years, only his mom and Wayne had ever said it. The last time he heard it from his mom was just before she died, and Wayne at her funeral. He had no idea how much he had missed hearing it, how much he needed it. And now, the person he knew he loved was here saying it to him. He wanted to cry, but wouldn’t, not now. Not when he could be kissing you instead.
“I love you. So much.” He whispered seriously. He pressed his lips to yours again, not hungry and feverish like before, this was slow and careful, like you could break under him. He wanted you to feel that he meant every word.
You melted into each other, fully drowning in the possibilities of this new relationship that neither of you were aware of the sounds of running footsteps coming up the quiet hallway outside. “Hey, have you seen my binder I think I-” Dustin's voice rang out as the door slammed open.
You pulled away from Eddie with a little squeak of surprise and found the 3 freshman boys standing in the doorway. You and Eddie stared at the boys, who in turn stared back at the two of you, arms still wrapped around each other.
“Oh my fucking god! You have to be shitting me, I knew it! Mike, you owe me 10 bucks!” Dustin yelled, pointing at the two of you with a huge smile on his face.
“I guess there’s no keeping this a secret now even if we wanted, huh sweetheart?” Eddie whispered with a chuckle as he pulled you from the table, holding your hand firmly as he grabbed both of your stuff.
“Oh not a chance.” You laughed, following him as the younger boys bombarded you with questions.

The first time Chris asks to see Buck, Eddie doesn't hesitate before saying no. The second, third, fourth, fifth times follow immediately after, Christopher's fury growing with each denial. But Eddie doesn't budge. He'll accept the abuses hurled at him, accept the weak punches Chris throws at his chest, accept the I HATE YOU! and slammed bedroom door.
Its nothing he doesn't deserve.
The sixth time Christopher asks, teary-eyed and pleading, Eddie wavers and says not yet. Chris huffs, but he grabs onto that little bit of hope like a lifeline. Eddie doesn't have the heart to tell him that hope is useless.
See, thing is, he knows Christopher is growing up. He knows his son is old enough to handle seeing Buck in a hospital bed - or, well, maybe not handle it, but he knows he's old enough to decide when he's ready to see Buck himself. But Eddie isn't ready.
Eddie wasn't ready when he tried to haul Buck back up onto the ladder, Eddie wasn't ready when he had to relinquish Buck's life to the others with no idea what was happening, Eddie wasn't ready to see Chimney straddling Buck's torso and begging Buck to wake up, Eddie wasn't ready to watch the doctors roll a still unresponsive Buck through the glass doors, Eddie wasn't ready to see Buck cold and still with a tube down his throat.
Christopher's always been braver than him.
But, selfishly, Eddie doesn't think he could handle seeing Chris beg Buck to wake up or say-
No. Eddie knows he couldn't handle it.
And, fuck, maybe its the wrong choice to keep Chris from getting to say goodbye to another parent. Its probably, definitely the wrong choice. But Eddie can't- He just can't.
He can't do this. He can't say goodbye.
Not to Buck.
Its when an Uber pulls up to the house and he catches Christopher trying to sneak out the front door that he realises he couldn't keep them apart anymore than he could have stopped that lightning from hitting Buck.
(You could have stopped it. You could have gone up in his place. You could have been faster. You could have been the one doing CPR. You could have-)
Eddie just grabs his keys and ushers Chris towards the Jeep - a fucking jeep, really? what is it? spit on Eddie day? - waiting for them outside.
He doesn't expect Chris to celebrate, but he also doesn't expect the stony silence that suffocates them in the back of the car. When Chris sniffles, Eddie grabs his hand and lets his own tears roll down his cheeks.
He should say something, but there aren't any words for this. This much he knows.
There weren't any last time either.
Eddie doesn't really register the journey from the parking lot up to Buck's room in the ICU. Not until Christopher suddenly goes very, very still and grabs his hand.
There's not a single part of Eddie that hasn't been shattered since he pushed himself up onto shaky arms and saw Buck hanging from the ladder, still, too still, but right now its the first time he really feels like he's going to fall apart.
"He's in there?" Chris asks, voice tiny and small and so, so scared.
"Yeah, buddy," Eddie croaks, "he's in there. But you don't have to go -"
"Yes. I do." Christopher takes a deep breath and marches towards the door like he's about to walk onto a stage.
Eddie follows. After a moment.
Chris has always been braver than him.
(He hasn't been in Buck's room once. Had only looked at him from beyond the window to his room for a few moments before using Christopher as an excuse to flee. Because he's a coward.)
Eddie doesn't know why he expects Buck's room to be empty. His family is at its biggest right now, even if Eddie remains quietly suspicious of Margaret and Phillip's sudden redemption. And he knows no one would ever let him be alone for more than a bathroom break or a coffee run.
Eddie doesn't know why he's so surprised to see Hen offering Chris her chair by Buck's bedside. She's known Buck the longest - along with Bobby and Chim of course, but between Bobby's superiority and Chimney's rebar, they'd gotten closest the fastest. He doesn't know why he expected Hen to still be at home with her wife and kid.
(Maybe because he'd been desperately jealous that she had someone to shoulder the weight with her.)
The grief-stricken, knowing look Hen shoots him is enough to have his chest tightening up worse than the suit shop.
And then, Christopher reaches for Buck's hand, looking so goddamn young but so fucking determined, and Eddie thinks it'd be fucking typical of him to have a heart attack three days after Buck's heart stops.
"I-I'm sorry, I c-can't." He glances at Hen in what he hopes she understands is a plea to look out for Christopher before fleeing from the room.
His legs don't take him far. His legs were made to get him up that fucking ladder to Buck. His legs weren't made to take him away from him. So, he collapses back against the wall under the window and sinks to the floor just as the first sob racks his body.
Its a painful thing. Like its torn from the very depths of him. Like someone has used the Jaws to pry his chest open and is ripping chunks of his organs out of him.
Its a desperate thing. A prayer and a plea to a universe he doesn't believe in.
Its a quiet thing, however. Because Eddie mastered that art so well that it is deeply ingrained in him.
Its a quiet thing which is why he can still hear Christopher's voice through the thin hospital walls.
"Buck, you promised me-" Christopher's words break, and Eddie breaks with them, pressing his fists into his eyes as hard as he can. "You promised you weren't going anywhere, and you never break your promises."
Eddie doesn't remember this promise. He remembers a hundred pinkie promises between his son and his- His Buck. But he doesn't remember this one. He wonders if it was before or after the-
It was before. Eddie knows Buck well enough to know it was before.
"Wake up, Buck. Please, I-"
Eddie's a coward. He's a coward, that's why he can't get up from the floor. He's a goddamn fucking coward.
"I want my dad," Chris wails, and Eddie doesn't know how he manages it - thinks briefly of stories about mothers lifting cars off their babies - but the next thing he knows he's watching Christopher bury his face in Buck's shoulder.
The left one, not the one with the Lichtenburg figures, the one near his heart.
Eddie doesn't need to look at Hen's tear-streaked face to know that Christopher wasn't asking for him.

Seven(ish) Sentence Sunday ✍️
Tagged by @missmagooglie
I’ve been tippy tap typing away at various different scenes for Chapter 9 of Rival Firefighters 🚒. A few sentences here, a couple of hundred words there … trying to just go with the flow and let the words happen.
Todays snippet is a direct continuation on from this one. (Also I changed it from two days after the tsunami to one. So not the very next day, but the one after that. So Buck’s only had around 24 hrs to spiral instead of 48 … which is probably a good thing 😅)
Eddie had messaged him yesterday, updating him on Chris’s well-being and the results of his doctor & therapist appointments, and while Buck appreciates that Eddie did that (Buck hadn’t been able to feel a single drop of ease until Eddie’s first message that Chris’s doctor gave him the all clear), he doesn’t understand why.
Why was Eddie keeping him informed about Chris? Shouldn’t he be deleting Buck’s number and telling him that Buck is never to see Chris again? That their friendship is done and the only relationship they’ll have is at work? Until even that falls apart, Buck’s mere presence becoming too much for Eddie - a constant reminder that he almost lost Chris. That Buck put Chris in danger and almost got him killed.
Eddie had tried to call him last night, but Buck had ignored each attempt, unable to bring himself to answer and hear Eddie say everything he’s already said to himself for the past 24 hours. He knows he’s only delaying the inevitable, but he just can’t do it. Answering the phone mean’s saying goodbye and Buck never wants to say goodbye to Eddie. To Chris. They’re his family and he doesn’t want to lose them, even though he knows he already has.
Buck drops his head into his hands, ready to give in to the sea of despair and loss that beckons him to dive into its depth and drown, when there’s a knock at the door. With a weary sigh he gets to his feet, goes to the door and opens it. The sight of Eddie and Christopher standing on the other side is not one he was expecting to see today, or ever again.
Christopher smiles at him as he moves forward, leaning into Buck for a hug. “Hey, Buck.”
It’s a bit awkward, mainly because Buck’s brain is still trying to process the fact that they’re here and so he just kind of stands there, one hand still on the door and the other hanging by his side.
“Good morning, Buck.” Eddie says as he moves past them into the apartment.
Buck’s brain finally comes back online enough for him to wrap his arm around Chris loosely in a small return hug, afraid to hold on too tightly. Chris may not have sustained a lot of injuries in the tsunami, but Buck doesn’t want to accidentally hurt him. He’s done enough damage already.

Eddie Munson never thought he could have a friend like you.
Never in his wildest dreams would he have imagined being best friends with the prettiest girl in school, let alone someone who also happens to be a cheerleader and crowned princess of Hawkins.
But there he was, on a random Tuesday evening, sitting on his bed with a joint dancing back and forth between his fingers and your own, babbling about your favorite lord of the Rings characters.
"What do you mean Legolas is an asshole?" You chuckled as you took a new puff, Eddie watching as your cheeks hallowed and half of your exhale passed through your nose before the rest of the smoke came out of your mouth. You stole a new drag before handing it to Eddie.
"You don't remember that moment in the two towers where he let Aragorn bend down to listen to the earth and struggle and shit and waited for him to come to the conclusion that indeed a whole ass army was headed towards them, and Legolas was just 'oh yeah I spotted them like an hour ago."
"Oh yeah, I remember," you giggled, "but he's not an asshole for this. Legolas is one of my favorite characters," you frowned, turning your head to face Eddie.
You smiled, finding his big brown eyes already staring at you. He smiled back, blowing smoke in your face to make you laugh--and it worked, because you swatted the smoke with a giggle, playfully slapping his chest before leaning on his shoulder.
Eddie wrapped his arm around you, letting you melt at his side.
You hummed in comfort, feeling safe in the warmth of Eddie's arms. Your eyes closing by themselves as you felt your high seep through you.
Eddie broke the silence, cheek leaning against the crown of your head, "he's a good character, but elves can be assholes in general in lord of the Rings."
"Don't shit on the elves, Munson," you hit his chest with the back of your hand, leaning away from his shoulder to meet his eyes again.
A new fit of laughter escaped you both the second your eyes met.
At this moment Eddie couldn't help but stare at you. You had this giddy high smile on your lips and shiny eyes. Hair poking all over the place, your cheer uniform wrinkled from laying down, sleeve falling off one shoulder. You made eye contact again and Eddie thought he was going to pass out.
His heart leaped in his chest and somehow he knew, he knew that he couldn't keep his feelings to himself for much longer.
He had already been head over heels for you since the first time he saw you in that high school cafeteria, and he knew he was ready to lay his life for you the second you exchanged words for the first time.
He had struggled to let the words 'thanks' and 'bye' in the same sentence, causing him to mumble something in between, you had given him the sweetest smile in return and waved your perfectly manicured hand goodbye.
He had to pinch himself every day since the moment Mrs. Smith had paired the two of you for a school project and you had, since then, somehow decided Eddie was a worthy friend: because you stuck around ever since.
He didn't even know how in the world you had anything in common in the first place.
But from the first time you had worked together outside of school, you took him by surprise.
He didn't even think it was possible for someone like you to feel so comfortable in his room, but he thought his eyes were going to pop out of his skill as he watched you graze your fingers excitedly over his Metallica poster, commenting about how much you loved them.
Eddie thought he was going to die right there.
But then, he ascended to heaven when you excitedly pointed to his music tapes your voice feeling like an angel's as you asked him the most obvious question: 'oh my god you listen to that too?'. He blinked, the question taking him by surprise. Wasn't it obvious? With the way he dressed and his reputation.
He barely nodded, too dumbfounded to form a proper sentence.
His eyes scanned you as you wrapped your fingers around another tape you hadn't noticed before, cheering as you showed it to Eddie. 'Oh my god, this is one of my favorites!' his breath caught in his throat as you asked permission to put said tape in his player. You turned up the volume and Eddie knew he was a goner when you started singing over Ozzy Osbourn's voice.
Needless to say, Eddie knew you had been a gift sent from heaven right this moment.
Or maybe you were sent from hell, destined to torment him. For him to fall helplessly in love with you just to never get a chance.
But you liked him back, right?
right.
"God, I wish I could join hellfire." You blinked and turned to him. "I wish I could play an elf too. I have so many ideas for my character..."
"I wish you could too, princess."
And that marked the end of a perfect evening with you.
You would go back to your house, take a shower and wash your uniform in a poor attempt to hide that you had been smoking. You would make yourself something to eat and finish up your homework, reminiscing about how off being in the cheer squad started to feel.
Your friends felt faker and faker by the second, and dancing in a green skirt accompanied with fluffy pom poms didn't feel right anymore, it didn't feel like you.
~
That morning, Eddie came to school with his intention set. A poorly written speech of what he wanted to tell you crumpled in the pocket of his leather jacket, keywords written in blue on his wrist, but the ink was already smudged by second period.
He felt nervous and jittery since he opened his eyes this morning, sunlight creeping in his poorly closed curtains. The light filtered in and lit up the space where he stuck all his best polaroid photos on his wall.
His eye caught his favorite one, and then it was all a reminder of what he promised himself today was going to be.
This was it.
He was going to muster all the courage he could and ask you ask on a date, jump into the potential abyss of ruining your picture-perfect friendship, with the potential of being able to call you his by the end of the day.
It took him some serious pep talk in the mirror and maybe even half of an old joint he found, hidden in the corner of his room by his guitar.
He was determined to meet with you in the woods, at your usual meeting spot. To sit at the mossy table, share a blunt and a pack of cookies as you gossiped on the latest Hawkins High news. He'd offer if you wanted to share his pack Twix bar, 'how romantic' he thought, and maybe once a comfortable silence had fallen, he would slide in the idea.
If his mouth would let him let the words out.
He knew it wasn't perfect, he knew it was far from the grand romantic gestures you deserved--but it was the best he could offer you in these conditions.
Knowing the fact that your time together always ran short, that you had to hide in between the trees or the comfort of your own homes to just be together--romantic of platonic.
And also knowing that if he didn't let his heart out today, he would probably burst into flames.
So he let out a deep breath, rearranging his bangs in the rearview mirror, fixing his jacket one last time, and making sure there wasn't anything stuck in between his teeth.
He looked around, spying on the crowd through the safe haven of his windshield. He spotted your car, but you were nowhere near it. You were probably already inside, fishing books from your locker or chatting with which ever of your cheerleader bimbo ‘friends’ had caught your attention.
He focused on not making his hand shake as he opened the door of his van, hands immediately finding shelter in his pockets as he made his way inside the school building.
It felt like everyone was staring at him as he made his way through the crowded hallway to reach his own locker. The random eyes that he would normally pay no attention too seemed to be staring right into his soul, judging him and telling him ‘you don’t stand a chance’
But he knew that was far from the truth. No one was reading into his mind, and no one had a laser vision that could see through leather and into his pocket, where they’re be able to read the rehearsed words Eddie had thrown together as if he was writing a new song for his band.
He felt like he was going crazy. Every little noise, every squeaking of a shoe, every locker closing: he could hear. A hyper awareness that made the hair of his arms spike despite his fight to keep himself calm and collected.
He reached his own locker. Easily doing the combination before opening it.
Crumpled papers over crumpled papers. Two stray markers and one ball pen sat in the middle of it all. A stash of weed hidden beneath the pile of scribbled pages, and a stray D and D dice, to which Eddie didn’t even know which set it belonged to. He thinks maybe it use to be Jeff’s old set, he vaguely remembered him using brownish dice for a while.
But he didn’t bother much longer with the question, because it had been weeks since it found itself on the bottom of Eddie’s locker and it would probably stay there until he graduated.
Out of the pile he picked out a virgin page, ripping it in half. He grabbed the first marker that his hands fell upon. An orange color with a thick tip to write, making his letters big and bulky as he scribbled
'meet me in the woods at lunch -E’
He folded the paper as neatly as he could, stuffing it in the back pocket of his jeans.
He waited until the hallway of your locker was a minimal emptied out, students filtering out and heading to their classrooms. He fumbled with his favorite ring, eyes scanning for any potential sneaky glances,
Your locker was almost there, he was halfway to victory, hand already reaching for his back pocket.
But then he saw you.
His face fell.
Your hair was tied up with its usual green ribbon, a bright smile plastered on your face as you spoke with one of the popular jocks; Chad.
He closed his eyes and breathed out through his nose, realization hitting him. He felt the floor crumble under him, ready for the world to swallow him whole.
Chad was the real-life version of a Ken doll. Perfect, shiny blonde hair that would make Steve jealous if he was still in school, a pearly white grin that made Eddie's stomach twist, and crystal blue eyes accompanied with the most charming aura.
He was a jock, with perfect grades, a fuck load of money, and everything else Eddie lacked. Popularity dripped from him. Everything Chad possessed that Eddie missed. You deserved someone who could grant you the moon if you wished--and Eddie could barely afford a diner date.
He watched as you slightly leaned against him: Chad flashing you his best smile as he spoke. He ran his hand through his perfect short curls, watching as they bounced back perfectly on his forehead.
He was bluntly flirting with you and Eddie saw his hopes fly out the window quicker than he found the courage to gather them.
The way you smiled as your conversation went on was enough for him to back away. Fist closing upon itself. He grabbed the piece of paper in his pocket, his 'poorly' written speech, and dumped it in the first trash that caught his eye.
He blinked, head falling down as he tried to burn the image of you with another guy out of his mind. He walked in the opposite direction, the realization that he didn't deserve you burning down his throat.
You were far too high in the Hawkins High food chain to even consider dating a guy like him. How could he have been so stupid?
You made him high on love. High on the hope that you could be an item. The way you were so comfortable around him, and how you made his head spin by doing the simplest of action.
But deep down he always knew this was a dream that he was going to have to snap out of. You needed someone like Chad. Someone with a good reputation and who doesn't take rides in the back of the sheriff's cars on a regular basis.
You might have similar tastes in music and common interests, but that was about it. Your social circles weren't compatible and he felt like a fool to even think he could have a chance.
~
He felt enough like a fool after that morning, he didn't need the pain in his heart to become worse by having you around.
Three weeks into his poor cover-ups and attempts to push you away, he only felt himself sink deep into his misery. No amount of Ozzy or Dio was enough to help him crawl out of this pit of pain he out himself into.
And as if things couldn't get worse, the pained look on your face every time you tried to comfort Eddie and he'd lay out yet again a poor excuse for his distance was now engraved in his mind--a reminder that not only was he destroying himself but he was bringing you down with him in the process.
But you'd heal, and faster than he ever could.
He knew you would.
He watched from the far end of the hellfire table, head hung in mystery as he looked down at the pretzels he didn't have an appetite for.
Gareth and Jeff were sharing a look, wondering if they should just go into a conversation of their own and pretend like Eddie wasn't moping right in front of their eyes. Lately, ignoring him seemed to be the only way to keep the party safe from his mood.
Eddie looked up once he had enough of staring at the dry food on his plate. He scanned the cafeteria and it didn't take him long to find you--looking perfect as always.
But in his staring, he was oblivious to the way your eyes didn't hold the same brightness as they usually did, and that the excited tone when you spoke to your friends was gone--blown with the harsh storm that had been Eddie's ignorance.
Of course, Eddie couldn't see the sleepless nights and the way your diner plates had remained full for the past few days. He couldn't truly see the inner turmoil that was rumbling inside your bones and keeping you from sanity.
But how could he? It was all hidden behind your perfect practiced cheerleader smile.
And when Eddie spotted that perfect smile from a distance, he didn't think twice before jumping to conclusions: you had finally moved on.
As Eddie looked back down to his poor lunch, he knew one thing to be clear: he was simply a useless passing villager in your game of life. He thought of himself to be like one of those useless NPCs he invented for his campaigns.
Boy if only he knew how wrong he was.
~
On the second day of the third week, you had enough.
If Eddie was going to ignore you, you at least needed a reason, something to justify the pang in your heart each time your eyes landed on him from a distance.
So you held your books a little tighter in your hand, your pink nails gripping your sticker-filled yellow spiral notebook tighter as you made your way out of the cafeteria. You watched like a hawk, keeping a certain distance so as to not raise suspicion. Eddie was speaking with one of his fellow Hellfire members; Jeff. The boy was nodding at whatever his dungeon master was telling him, and Eddie was fiddling with his rings: something you knew he did when he was nervous.
What did he have to be nervous about?
Eddie was soaked to the bone with confidence, that was the whole armor he wore so your so-called friends wouldn't eat him alive.
Did this have something to do with you?--There was no way of knowing, but you were growing suspicious of Eddie's change of behavior; towards both yourself and his faltering confidence.
The bell rang and as per usual, Eddie didn't budge from his spot. His friend had already scurried off to class but despite the rush happening around him, he took his time, stuffing his drug-filled lunch box into his locker and attempting to sort out the mess of misused books and stray notes he might need for the afternoon.
You closed your own locker, mumbling something to your friend, shooting her a smile as she left you alone.
The corridor fell empty, apart from you and Eddie; but didn't have seem to notice your presence, or at least if he did he did not make a move to talk to you or run away like he had usually done these past few weeks.
If he hadn't been ignoring you, maybe you would have smiled at the way he was figuring out what his own handwriting meant. Smiled at the way he was placing the paper in every angle possible to try and decipher if this was a useful piece of information for the hours to come. But when he finally cracked it, like an ancient code meant to keep safe the best of treasures, he mumbled something you didn't catch from the distance and stuffed it back in between the unorganized line of notebooks.
This wasn't the paper he was searching for.
"You need help finding something?" Your voice made him jump, making you crack a smile at the startled look on his face.
"Jesus, don't scare me like that," he mumbled before fishing for a bright blue notebook. He opened it to make sure it was the right one, and when he read Math, sloppily written in big letters across the front page, he tucked the book under his arm. He didn't share another word with you, probably waiting for you to make your purpose by his side known.
He tucked a 4 colored pen behind his ear and closed his locker, not bothering to close the lock.
"Can we talk?"
"Not, now I have to get to class, and so do you," he pointed to the clock behind you and you crossed your arms.
But your stance didn't seem to bother him much, because he turned on his heel and started walking away.
It took you a second to remember why you were here, you had enough of whatever was going on with him--and you wouldn't let him run away on you again.
So you caught up with him and stood your grown in front of him, trying to take as much space as possible--but probably failing to look an ounce more intimidating than nature allowed you to be.
But nonetheless, you still spoke, words slashing the air; "You're ignoring me." It was a statement--a firm one that almost made him flinch.
You saw his expression falter from shock to something else. A color you didn't recognize in Eddie, maybe pain, hurt? Your heart sunk down to your feet as réalisation hit you.
Did you really do something that bad?
He was staring right at you, big brown eyes intently staring your face, maybe trying to decipher your emotions, trying to read your mind so he could make a decision on his next move.
"No I haven't," but instead of doing anything remotely productive to help the conversation like you’d hope; he lied.
"Yes, you have," he watched as your face fell, more pieces of his heart shattering in the process. "Have I done something wrong?" The way you frowned was overwhelming. "I promise I didn't mean to, Eddie we can talk this out."
Eddie felt like he was about to burst, all of the predicaments he tried to convince himself were true falling to the ground and breaking with the last of his heart.
He had to close his eyes to stop himself from wanting to rip his hair out or cry.
You were blaming yourself, for something that was all him.
His fears came true, he had dragged you down into misery with him.
"Y/n, of course not-" you watched him stumble with his words.
"Then why are you ignoring me," Your tone might have seemed firm but he could tell the way your voice wavered.
You were hurt.
And it was all his fault.
He sighed, barely managing to meet your eyes again.
"Because I'm not good enough for you."
You blinked, trying to make sense of his words.
"What?"
"I'm not good enough for you!" He lifted his voice a bit, but not enough to make you flinch. "You're- you're perfect. It's as if god had taken everything that's perfect and made you—and then there's me, who is everything but perfect. A freak who was apparently meant to fall for someone he cannot have," he went on, too busy going on a rampage to notice the way your breath caught in your throat.
"Because," he looked into your eyes, a look so intense it almost gave you chills. "You're a queen, and I’m just your joker. And The Joker cannot fall in love with the queen of Gotham, she deserves Batman, the handsome Bruce Wayne. Not the madman."
You swallowed as you realized this was a love confession. Eddie’s eyes were wide, almost hectic, and the more you stared at him the more you realised this was him rambling on about how, he reciprocated your feelings but thought you could never.
Your ached when you registered the way he had just talked about himself, but quickly it was replaced by anger bubbling in the pit of your stomach for anyone in this damn town that made him feel this way.
Because your Eddie deserved the world, and he most definitely deserved someone like you. He even deserved the entire of Gotham to be at his feet.
You took a step closer, mustering bits of courage you still held, "Harley Quinn and the Joker made a pretty good pair the last time I checked."
Eddie felt the air pull out of his lungs as you spoke, his brain working overtime as it attempted to comprehend the coded message.
"What do you mean?" He breathed out, watching you get even closer to him.
"Let me be your Harley," you brushed his hand, making goosebumps travel up his arm. His fingers slowly interlacing with yours, eyes getting glossy. "I might be the Queen of Gotham, but I'm far from wanting Batman," you giggled, continuing to close the distance between you.
Before he could blink again, you were already on your tip toes leaning in for a kiss. You were already lowering yourself back to your normal height before Eddie registered what happened.
But when he did, his lips were on yours again—chasing for the feeling he had dreamed about for months now.
Eddie thought his brain was going to overheat.
Not even ten minutes ago, he thought every chance he had with you had been long gone, sunk deep into lovers lake with the other broken romances and unrequited loves.
But there he was, kissing the girl of his dreams in the middle of a school hallway.
And it was everything he had ever dreamt it would be.
"So, I'm really perfect?" You smirked as you pulled away from the kiss just for Eddie to chase your lips again, muttering 'Yes' in between kisses.
Eddie finally pulled away when the information had fully registered.
"How in the world do you like me back?" He blinked in disbelief.
"Because you're perfect?" He shook his head no, but you persisted, "you’re perfect for me, Eddie."
