💬 What book(s) would you like to see turned into a movie? 🎬🍿 There are soooo many that I’d love to see on the big screen. The first one that comes to mind (because I’m currently completely obsessed with it) is You & I, Rewritten by @booksovrbros! 🤎 Have you watched #thesummeriturnedpretty on Amazon @primevideo yet? I plan to watch it this weekend and I can’t wait! I’ve been hearing such great things about it! I am 50% into my first read of Disappearing Acts by Terry McMillan and immediately from the first page I had to annotate. So far, this book has me talking back more than I usually do in response and reactions to the characters. As individuals they are complex and together they are even more complicated. Further into my reading, my mind continues to wonder in frustration. - Why are they still dealing with each other? - How does someone work through their emotions in relation to their partners decisions and behavior when those actions consistently impact them both negatively? - After more valleys than peaks, and so many red flags, when does someone finally say they must put themselves first and remove themselves from a relationship? These characters continuously say they love each other and although there are actions to back it up, their inner thoughts expose that it’s more performative than them trying to actually make those actions of ‘love’ a habit. I say all that to say, this weekend read is putting me through it (lol). Frankie and Zora. Father God, Jesus of Nazareth, help them Lord, because this ain’t it #IYKYK My question to you all is, would you give someone a chance to enter your life solely based on the principle of the potential of what the person can be? I’m aware that most of us do end up in relationships (romantic and platonic) and we more often than not start with seeing the potential in someone adding to our lives. When does potential in relationships turn into a liability for you? My Review
What a way to wrap up a series! I've fallen in love with several Melanie Moreland couples, and while I still love them all dearly, Nicholas and Mila have a special place in my heart. Not only is their story the final for the Vested Interest: ABC Corp, which makes it bittersweet, but this couple brings all the feels - and they do it without the big 3rd act breakup. They still have their share of things to work through and overcome, and I love how well Melanie Moreland handled the mental health stuff. I say stuff because I don't want to spoil the story, but the seriousness of the topic is handled with complete respect, as well as accuracy.
I love how totally sweet this couple is, and they have such good chemistry right from the start. Plus, this is a next-generation series, so we get some catch-up time with several past favorites. The story does have its share of seriousness, but true to Melanie Moreland form, we also get some wonderfully well-timed wit and humor, which is always welcome as far as I'm concerned. The whole thing is well-written, and this is a couple I won't soon forget.
This is part of a series, but it can be read as a standalone. Fair warning though,: once you've met these characters, including the secondary ones, you'll be hooked. Found family is one of my favorite tropes, and the BAM world is one big found family.
Reading Nicholas and Mila's journey was all kinds of emotional, and to be honest, I wasn't sure the audio would have the same impact - I love Maxine Mitchell and John Lane, and they are both terrific narrators. That said, I had the voices of these characters in my head, as well as the tone and even the feeling behind the words, and I just wasn't sure it would all come through in the audio. There are a serious amount of feels in this one. I should have known better than to doubt these narrators because they pulled out all the stops. Every bit of emotion, good and bad, comes through loud and clear. Lane and Mitchell took these characters and became them, and I was just as immersed in the audiobook as I was when I read it. So, yes, Nicholas and Mila still hold a special place in my heart, and I'll be revisiting both editions of their story.

We brought Alex to the movies today to see @badguysmovie . It was his first true #booktomovie experience and it was awesome. There was no “which was better?” debate because it was just too much fun to see the characters and stories come to life (I remember the feeling so well when Mouse and the Motorcycle was on my TV!). It was hilarious sitting next to him when he would lean over and shout, “I think that’s Agent Fox!” Or “That guy is Dr. Marmalade!” He danced to the songs (even though we weren’t supposed to notice him doing so) and smiled through so much of the movie, it was awesome. For my part, so happy we saw this one on the big screen. The animation was really pretty and the action played so well on the big screen. A bunch of genuine laughs from me and @mr_rob_r , but who knows if that’s because the whole family’s been invested in this books series for a couple of months now. Mr. Shark’s disguises didn’t disappoint and Tarantula’s computer skills were as fantastic as we’d all hoped. #movietime #momlife #familytime #thebadguys #goodtimes https://www.instagram.com/p/CeMgaN8u9ZL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

🌺 "Although the threads of my life have often seemed knotted, I know, by faith, that on the other side of the embroidery… There is a Crown." —Corrie ten Boom
Note: Corrie ten Boom often preached a sermon on God's faithfulness. ➡ We cannot see what He sees. He is always working for our good and His glory. We must resolve to trust God's perspective. She used this cloth illustration while she gave the sermon; turning it to the clear side at the sermon's conclusion. This embroidered clothe is displayed at the Corrie ten Boom Museum in Haarlem, Holland.
