About 100 employees were laid off in total (8%) and one of the main reasons listed is "underperformance," "sharp drop in popularity" and "poor reception of Lightfall."

So you know when for the last year and a half content creators have been shitting and pissing on the game as a full-time job and the amount of negativity and ragebait content became the only thing to make content about for them? Well they certainly won't take the blame, but I will let it be known. These people either don't understand the influence they have or they do and they're doing it on purpose, and I don't know which of these two options is worse, but I am 100% confident that their campaign of rage and hate contributed to this.

You don't base your entire community around constantly hating everything about the only game you play (despite clearly not enjoying it anymore) and somehow avoid galvanising thousands and thousands of people into perceiving the game negatively. Imagine being employees who have barely worked there for 2 years and the only community reception they've seen is 24/7 hate train for their work and then they get fired because of "poor reception" and "drop in popularity." How can they not take that personally? I am absolutely devastated for these people who delievered a banger product and who were met with an unrelenting barrage of toxic gamer children which ended up having more sway over their boss than them.

Which brings me to the next bit and that's FUCK THE CEO. He is now my mortal enemy #1. I am projecting psychic blasts directly into his brain. What an absolute spineless coward who is more willing to bow down to fucking gamers than to protect his own employees. This is absolutely rage inducing because this has happened before. From the article from 2021 about the toxic culture at Bungie:

I watched Shubble's vod talking about abuse a few days ago and she said something that stuck with me. She told a story where her abuser bit her really hard in front of their friends. She yelped in pain and they laughed.

Men, when we see our friends make jokes about hurting women, don't laugh. Make it uncomfortable. It's not funny. This isn't a joke. You may not think your brothers and friends are abusers, but it doesn't mean that any of this is funny.

I'm certain their friends didn't think there was anything going on behind the scenes, but they should have. I could never even imagine joking about bringing harm to my partner. I'm sure most of them couldn't either. We need to stay vigilant and critical of the ways we carry ourselves around others. What does our laughter signal to the women around us?

I didn't really realize or care at the time I started this tournament, but the way you're actually supposed to seed a bracket is put your heaviest hitters up against the ones you least expect to win so that the big guys all end up getting decently far into the match

for the villagers I wouldn't have done that anyway because there are too many and alphabetical just makes it easy to keep track. special NPCs I probably should've done that, but I still think celeste and zipper would've been our two winners no matter what. plus I think pitting similar characters together was more interesting anyway because you get to see who people like the most of characters that kind of go together

but I mostly bring this up because for future tournaments I genuinely have no idea who the heavy hitters will be.

I know bubblegum K.K. was like the Marshal of K.K. songs in NL, but idk what people think of the other songs.

froggy chair will be popular in the furniture brackets but aside from that all the submissions feel like they're on equal footing.

genuinely have no idea whatsoever what hourly tunes people like most.

putting the lost villagers in alphabetical order already spreads out the ones that seem most popular and the rest are hard to guess how they'll do, especially since most of them went on to the least popular bracket in the main tournament

so yeah idk I was just thinking about that after the special NPC tournament ended

So i had a dream last night which wasn't a nightmare and i even remember most of it! which is super exciting. I barely ever remember dreams that are just simply that so this is a fairly rare occasion for me.

It was weird tho

But it was.. i don't even know what it was so let me ramble about it in the tags a bit

#there was this bioluminescent and also biotoxic creature in a city at night #it was bipedal sort of humanoid shaped but with definitive deep sea features #it had that transparent skin and flesh and body with bioluminescing highlights #which i have no idea how it worked because the entire dream took place in a city enviroment on very much dry land but it's a dream innit #the face was definitely not human more a jumble of fishy features #it was gorgeous btw in a humanoid monster sort of fascinating way #it had this weird feel to it that it's something very old that should not be here now.. some sort of reminiscence of a bygone era #i might try to draw it but i don't know how successful i'd be to be honest #anyway so i was part of a group (don't know what kind exactly) and i never seen any of them i just knew they existed #and there was this innate knowledge that the creature was kind of hunting or more like luring us but we also were hunting it #i don't know if it did something to us before or we just had this unexplainable pull towards it but we definitely were fixated on it #and it was supposed to be a big threat even just by existing and walking around but also would have been bad if it was dead #but i don't know why was it so bad because the “toxicity” of the creature wasn't lethal it just made you stuck in a blissful delirious stat #just by being too close to it and which in most cases would fade when it moved away so the other alternative felt way worse #cuz if it would die something else would have gotten loose which would have been worse than the delirium #it was some sort of unstoppable deadly madness i think.. at least that was what i felt the dream eluded to #and i think we wanted to neutralize it somehow but we had no idea how to avoid disaster that surely would come if it dies #but it would have also revitalize nature on a basically divine scale by giving it's body back to it so there was this dilemma the whole tim #but none of us would have any answers so we just followed this inner draw regardless of the uncertainty #and the entire dream was basically us lureing the creature somewhere but simultaniously it was somehow luring us in as wel #to the same spot #it was a vast moonlit fieald outside of city bounds surrounded with tall dark trees and the sky was littered with stars #and a sharp cliff to one side #so we arrived there and we were standing on opposite sides and look towards each other #but looking into the creatures eyes literally woke me up #there was a noise it made and i know i understood it as words inside the dream but i can't remember what it was after waking just the noise #and that was it #it wasn't long i think tho it felt that way
