continuation of my I am the ghost king I speak for the crows Danny au or whatever as I try to finish this b4 I have to pay attention in class but danny!! teaches the crows n if this is a dp x dc au sorta thing and he goes to school there maybe he is just that one weird kid that gets up at bumfuck in the morning to feed and talk to the crows.

and if bruce adopts Danny and maybe Danny figures out and just doesn't say anything for shits n giggles and when he ominously says he knows and they ask how he figured out he can just say like "the crows told me" or something and they notice "hey now that you mention it there ARE a lot of crows around the manor lately..." and they wrongfully assume that Danny is a meta that can talk to crows because us I eyes glow green around them(cause there are some weird meta powers out there there is no way there isnt) and because they figured out Danny is the reason for the increase in crows, he earns extra brother points with Damian :) ill expand on this more if I think of anything and tell me if YOU have any ideas for this au, id love to hear :))

To see and not understand

ectoberhaunt 2023 day 3- white crow TW- Danny dies but we all know that summary- Danny has always been able to see them. He's just never known what they meant.

Danny had always been able to see them. They fluttered at the corners of his vision, disappearing if he tried to look at them. 

He hadn’t known what they were at first. When he was younger he was always whipping around to try and catch a glimpse of them. People thought he was very distracted as a child. It had taken a few years for him to realize they were some kind of white bird, and a few more years to realize they were crows.

He had tried to tell people at first, but when a child says they see white birds at the corners of their vision adults tend to think the child is ‘just seeing things’ or ‘has an active imagination.’ And other kids say that they’re crazy or silly.

He learned to keep it to himself pretty early on.

He didn’t always see them and there they’d show up in different quantities. Sometimes he wondered if that meant anything.

Most of the time he tried to ignore them.

They'd perch on telephone wires, on cars, along bookshelves and his classmate’s desks. They’d sit on his nightstand or on his neighbors’ windowsills.

Maybe if he’d been smarter he would have begun to see the pattern. Maybe if he didn’t already suffer from being the son of the town kooks he would have looked into it more instead of pretending everything was normal. 

He was already the son of crazy ghost hunters, living in the shadow of his big sister’s smarts, and all the teachers had made clear that she was obviously the smarter of the too. So why make himself out to be even more different?

He had Sam and Tucker. And, sure, they were a bit weird too. But with Danny’s luck this would be what pushed them away. What made them decide that he was too strange, too crazy, too different.

And he didn’t want to be alone.

So he went to school, avoided his parents, hung out with his friends, and dreamed of space, and he ignored the birds.

Today was like any other. After saying goodbye to Sam and Tuck, he headed home.

He wasn’t really paying attention but then he looked up from where he had been staring at the ground as he walked and he saw the birds. Not hidden away.

Not at the corners of his vision.

But all lined up.

Thirteen white crows perched on his house.

He froze.

The birds didn’t move.

Then with a cry they all took off and disappeared over the neighbor’s house.

It took Danny a moment to unfreeze, but when he did he ran inside. Panting, he slammed the door shut behind him.

That had been too strange. And maybe, he should say something about it? 

No.

At least not about having always seen the birds. But maybe he could just tell his parents about seeing the birds on the house. They’d laugh it off and tell him it was strange and nothing to worry about.

Yes, he could do that. It would help ease the worry.

He headed towards the lab. That’s where they’d been all week working on what they called the ‘Ghost Portal.’

He went down the stairs but the lab was empty.

He was about to head back upstairs when his eyes strayed back to the portal. It was massive, taking up nearly all of one wall with wires and tubes leading into it.

He stepped toward it.

His parents said it would lead to the Ghost Zone, which was obviously not real. Ghosts weren’t real. 

But wouldn’t it be cool if it was?

A whole other dimension to explore. It would be like space only instead of endless stars it’d be the unknown of the afterlife.

He walked towards it. He didn’t think his parents were home, if they were they’d be here.

He glanced around before grinning and going to pull on his hazmat suit. With the hood on he felt like an astronaut getting ready for launch.

He stepped towards the portal again.

“And here we have famed space explorer Danny Fenton getting ready to explore yet another unknown world.” Danny muttered under his breath, grinning. He stepped into the portal, looking around. 

He crept further back towards the end of the hole.

He should probably leave and get back to his room before anyone else got home. It’d be super embarrassing to be caught with his suit on down here and Jazz would probably lecture him about being around unsafe lab equipment.

He turned around and took a step back toward the entrance when he tripped.

He caught himself against the wall and felt something shift below his hand. 

He looked up.

Thirteen white crows stared at him from the lab.

Then every nerve was on fire and he screamed.

One for sorrow Two for mirth Three for a wish  Four for a birth Five for a kiss Six for wedding Seven for a secret never to be told Eight for health Nine for gold Ten for wealth Eleven for heaven Twelve for Hell Thirteen for funeral bells

So, you wanna know about Flying Over the Pit of Death, aka Magpie AU

Hi, it's me, Plasma, also known as fuckinart & daddyplasmius, here to introduce a little project I've been working on since 2020 (but the AU of which has been haunting me since 2016) called Flying Over the Pit of Death, or as I call it, FOtPoD, the Magpie AU.

On top of the panic, the anxiety, the disbelief, Danny thinks idly to himself that he has always wanted to fly. After an accident with his parents’ Portal, Danny Fenton finds himself no longer human in more ways than one.

I would like to say first that Magpie AU is 100% a crack AU that I accidentally started taking way too seriously, because I find identity shenanigans & losing your sense of self & humanity to be the perfect recipe for angst. The original idea that inspired Magpie AU was something called Bird AU by @rest-in-peachs & you can find the original Bird AU post here, though I used almost nothing from the original & added a whole lot more, hence the renaming to Magpie AU.

The fic itself is called Flying Over the Pit of Death, which is based on the quote, "We go down into the pit of death and feel the waters of annihilation close above our heads and wake thinking to find ourself in the presence of angels." by Virginia Woolf (which I now see is the incomplete version)

So, what actually is FOtPoD? Well, there's 3 main things you need to know about Magpie AU first:

Danny goes through the Portal Accident aloneーSam & Tuck aren't there. This is a No One Knows AU.

Danny's arm & leg are damaged from the Accident & he is held back by this in human form. He has chronic pain & limited mobility. And,

The whole reason for, well, everything, Danny's ghost form is a (ghostly) magpie. He can't shapeshift any more than he can in canon, he's just a magpie when he goes ghost now. There is no real reason for this.

So, again, what is FOtPoD? I explained the AU, but this doesn't really say anything about the fic itself, & the description is pretty vague.

To put it simply, FOtPoD is a pseudo-rewrite, with each part based on actual canon episodes. It focuses a lot on Danny's struggles with how humanーor inhumanーhe is post Accident, his degrading mental health, & his straining relationship with his friends & family while attempting to keep his hoard of secrets from them. Also, because I can't make Danny entirely alone here, he gets some crow friends, hence the art of him surrounded by crows.

If you haven't caught on already, this is heavily inspired by Animorphs since that's what I was reading when I gave in & began writing FOtPoD, as well as the Alex Rider book series which inspired the more current version & really helped me figure out how to write that particular mental health downward spiral.

So, what's to be expected? I've already planned & mapped out 12 parts, 60 chapters in whole, as well as a mini comic thing based on one of the later chapters which was actually one of the first chapters I'd planned & wrote.

Currently, I'm deep into editing & rewriting FOtPoD to better fit my plans & the themes for the third time, so posting it is looking a lot like

in the meantime, I'm going over my older fic, Phantom, for reasons, which be will updated regularly for the next 10-ish weeks on Wednesdays/Thursdays, & uh, expect more FOtPoD (& generally DP) art I guess xD

Wrote a whole Danny being the speaker of crows thing or whatever but accidentally deleted it I’m so sad rn but the basic lay down of it was he like yk the whole Danny being a schrodinger's boy maybe attracted them to him (or maybe ghost king au) and him just teaching the crows things because they’re really intelligent and how cool would that be?? Gotta finish later but I’ll link the new post on this when I do it :))

Ectober: White Crow

A part of the Paulina Phantom AU.

Paulina wakes up to the ruffling of feathers and a loud, imperious squawk. For a moment, she thinks that she must have fallen asleep outside at the end of her patrol--up on the roof, or perhaps in the park. But when she cracks her eyes open, she finds herself nestled in her own bed. The source of the ruckus sits above her, hopping impatiently on the headboard. 

It’s a crow. A pale-white crow with glowing green eyes that glitter with intelligence. Paulina sits up, about to reprimand the ghost for the rude awakening, before spotting the time on her bedside clock. It’s well past the time for her get up; had she slept in any longer, she might have been late to school. How embarrassing. 

“Lucky you were here, I guess,” she says to the ghost crow, tentatively patting its head. The crow preens under her attention.

FF P is cryptic. I can only imagine what it stands for

Oh I realized my WIPs are so badly named that I mistook that file for a completely different one LOL (FF P is actually a completed fic, it stands for "Fanfic Pride" and is my fic where Danny goes to a pride festival as Phantom)

I THOUGHT it stood for "Fanfic Phantom", but turns out the WIP I had in mind is just titled "Fic Ideas"

This is getting confusing but just know I'm learning I need to rename these things lol (basically just replace FF P with Fic Ideas on that list)

ANYWAY

Fic Ideas is a WIP where the Fentons are relatively new in Amity, having moved there a few months ago. The portal accident happens at the tail end of summer and Danny is not yet friends with Tucker or Sam. Jazz doesn't witness the accident, but she's there for the fallout and is the only one in the know. (Jazz is Danny's best-- and sort of only-- friend and he's been very close to her since coming out as trans.)

The WIP is just a detailed outline atm but it centers around Danny starting out high school right after the accident, with really no friends and just a very worried Jazz as his only support system. He becomes friends with Sam and Tucker but it's sort of a Mess juggling things

An outline snippet:

"-As it starts to get dark, Sam and Tucker become restless. Without warning, the pair of them ask Danny if he has seen any ghosts, recounting their adventures in the park when he shakes his head. They ask him a bit about his parents' work, and Danny has the impression that they've been itching to broach the subject since school let out. It makes him uncomfortable talking about it– especially having to pretend that he is surprised and intrigued by what they saw in the park.

-Danny somehow finds himself walking with Sam and Tucker to the park that evening. He tried to decline the invitation, but ultimately kept his mouth shut and went along with it. The pair excitedly tell him about the ghost boy, wondering if they will see him again tonight. Danny cringes thinking about it, knowing that they will be disappointed."

I shouldn't have been born into this world....I shouldn't exist...I completely fail at being the hero of justice...How will I ever face Enkidu when I become like this?

*Sonic walk and hugs Danny softly*

Danny: I will lose my heart again if I continue this.....but there's nothing I can do because I'm already a psychopathic ghost, a zombie...!! I can't ask my human half to stay together or even start life over. I can't tell Sam to hold me when I am like this!

*Danny again rushes forward, this time cutting past the vines, and reaches the Witch. He slashes at the Witch repeatedly and begins to laugh insanely while blood splatters on his face until he finishes off the witch.*

Danny: Ha....ha....heh heh heh.....It's easy once you know how to do it...I'm sure I'll never lose this ever again....

Gilgamesh: The labyrinth is gone....but....

Amity: Danny.....

Danny: We're finished. That's what you're after, aren't you?

Héctor: Hey...Danny....you don't have to....

Danny: I don't want to be in your debt, Sonic. Now we're even, got it? Come on, let's go.

Punch: Whoa! Danny!

Danny: Ah....sorry...I'm just....a little tired....

Sonic: Daniel....we need to talk....

Homura: That witch....it was the same as the witch that Sayaka Miki once fought, Elsa Maria. I never thought that it came back to the circle. Punch. Why don't you be the one to talk to Danny?

Punch: You too Homura. Why don't you go interfere with them?

Homura: I need to be careful around Bête Noire. I can't let her kidnap Danny ever again. It's my fault that Danny becomes lost his balance of himself.

Punch: And you want me to stop Danny before he will go berserk.

Homura: Because you are the one Danny cares about the most.

Punch: Not only me......

Sonic: Daniel....You say it doesn't hurt but you're lying. I can tell just by looking at you. Just because you don't feel it, it doesn't mean it's okay to get hurt.

Danny: If I don't fight like that, I can't win. And I will lose my friends if I don't do something.

Sonic: Even if you win, it doesn't mean it's good for you. That situation let Punch and me handle this next time.

Danny: Are you trying to take other people's faults on your own again? What are you know anything about me? You don't even try to understand me at all! What are you doing here now because I look like someone else?!

*Flashback*

?????: “You just assumed I’d go along with you, no matter what! Did you ever consider what I wanted!?”

?????: "That's exactly your problem! You just jump into a situation with no idea about the outcome!"

*End of Flashback*

Sonic: I just want to redo the mistake in the past that's all and I don't want you to end up like someone I knew in the past.

Danny: Redo? I'm just a walking, talking corpse, pretending it's still alive. What kind of "good" could anyone possibly do for me now? It's stupid to even think about it. If you really want to do something for me, you should experience what I've experienced first!

Sonic: I did and I'm not lying.

Danny: Even give up being human?!

Sonic: Yes. I did give up on someone I know and said goodbye to him without regret. I am non-human, to begin with. I gave my human vessel to save Tails' girlfriend to live in this world to the fullest.

Sonic: After I saw in both Syaoran and Sakura's memories....I know I had to save Cosmo and say goodbye to a friend of mine.

Danny: I'm sorry for causing you trouble. I know how much you have been through Sonic. I just can't see you responsible and hurt yourself. I understand how much you three hurt...even Enkidu...

Sonic: You mean King Gilgamesh?

Danny: He never looked at me or pities me but I know he was worried about me......heh...I am not myself at all...you three were amazing that still keep smiling and happy like that...maybe it's because I can't care about anything anymore. I can't even remember what I thought so important, so worth protecting.

Sonic: Daniel....! Your eyes and your pact....!

Danny: The balance of hope and despair in the world cancels out to zero. Now I finally understand what that meant. Sure, I managed to save a few people, but in exchange, hatred and jealousy filled my heart. I even hurt my best partner...Whenever we pray for someone's happiness, someone else must be cursed in exchange... Turns out that's how this world works and also the hero of justice...I...really am...

*Sonic rushed to hug Danny.*

Sonic: You're not stupid! You're not a failure! I know what you're feeling now "Danny"! I felt the same way. I was once like you! You wanted to kill me right? I understand! I also once tried to kill Punch and Peter with my own power! That time I couldn't control myself my curse was far too strong! I felt like I was torn apart and don't want to live anymore! You have value! Value no one else has! I declare it here and now. In the world, I have two partners right here and now! So that value will never change, for all eternity!

Danny: Sonic...you.....

Sonic: I had enough of this.....I won't give up anymore even if you change...I will save you....even "Punch"...no...I will save King Gilgamesh....no matter how arrogant he is.

Danny: ............*Sob*...............*Sob*

"I was a weapon. As a weapon, I would be changed depending on the weapons of the next era. I am nothing more than a treasure that people will use. I'm nothing more than one of your countless treasures. In the future, you will encounter treasures more valuable than me"

Gilgamesh: ...............................It came back to full circle. So you finished with Homura then.

Punch: Amity came by and take Homura's group somewhere else, waiting for Danny to finish.

Gilgamesh: ..............I always thought I will never see the painful past again. But.....I can't avoid it, can't it...

Punch: I am included amongst those mongrels?

Gilgamesh: Heh. What do you think then?

Punch: Heh. We're waiting for Sonic to finish. We can't afford to disappear after we're interrupted like this.

Gilgamesh: .....................

Punch: Remember what I said to you?

"Mr Gilgamesh, you're strong and dependable, so you might be okay. But I'm not okay. Because I care about you. It worries me when a person I care about gets injured and faces hardships."

Punch: Sonic now felt hurt not because of Danny but because of you Mr Gilgamesh. The painful past you thought that made him say those words to Danny, he can sense how we are right now.

Gilgamesh: And I'm sure I would hurt here. Because I care about him. Like he cares about us.

Sonic: Then will you talk to me?

Punch: Fast as always. I see an eye drop too.

Gilgamesh: ...................Okay.

Punch: Out loud! Or lone your treasures?

Gilgamesh: Punch....!

Sonic: *Chuckle and Smile*

*Flashback*

Punch: Can I call you Mr Gilgamesh?

Gilgamesh: Mr?

Punch: Call "King" It's too weird and this is our first greeting meeting too so....

Gilgamesh: No, it's okay. It's been a while since anyone's address me like that. No...It's been a while since anyone called me "Mr".

Punch: Peter, what are you normally called by those close to you?

Peter: Sometimes Peter or Link. Those Kokiri named me "Link" for easy to call me "Peter".

Punch: People around me call me "Punch" but Mr Gilgamesh said that it had been a while since anyone called him.

Peter: Well.....he is a king so everyone around him needs to be formal and frightened.

Punch: He was just like me when I was little everyone around was scared of me because I'm too much clever.

Peter: I understand Punch. Let's help him then. Help him to not get lonely.

Punch: Yeah.

*End of Flashback*

Punch: Sonic.

Sonic: Huh?

Punch: Thank you for coming along with me.

Sonic: I should be the one who thanks you for taking care of me.

Gilgamesh: What are you guys doing?! I'm leaving you behind!

Sonic & Punch: We're coming!

Demon AU lore!

Walker is a Demon hunter, specializing in beasts. He wrote everything he knows in his Beasticon, and treats it like Law. He uses his crow to help him hunt, and his weapon of choice are silver tipped arrows.

One day he came to Amity in the hunt of a werewolf. He asked the Fentons for some assistance, but they were too busy solving their Demon problem to help. Danny heard Walker describe the dangerous beast and decided to look for it.

Wulf is a werewolf. He has been one for long enough that he can stay in his wolf form indefinetly, and he has compleatly cast aside his humanity for this freedom.

When Danny finds Wulf, the latter is agitated and attacks. Danny is still unused to his powers, so he is easily defeated. He decides that they need an expert for this. The next day in human form he asks Walker to let them assist in his hunt.

Armed with silver tipped arrows, they look for the werewolf. Sam is reading through Walkers Beasticon, but gets the feeling he isn't trustworthy. After a while Walker thinks he hears the beast and takes off into the woods. When the group tries to follow they get split up.

Suddenly, while he is alone Tucker is attacked by the beast! It snarls and bites his arm, but to Tucker's confussion the werewolf let's go almost immediatly and flees. When he finds the group again Tucker hides his injury from Walker. Sam insists the 3 head to her cabin so she can treat Tuckers arm with a healing balm.

When she enters she is shocked to find the werewolf! Danny tries to defend his friends, but Sam stops him. The wolf seems afraid and in pain. Getting closer they discover he has a silver collar that is causing him pain.

Stealing the key from Walker they free Wulf from the collar. While Sam treats both Tuckers arm and Wulfs silver burn, the group discovers Tucker can understand Wulfs speech. He bit Tucker because he thought it was Walker, and apologizes. He just wants to be free, but Walker wants to cage him. The group agrees to help Wulf escape from Walker who has been hunting him for years and tortured him with the collar for months.

Wulf escapes to the forests. While Walker tries to follow, Danny intervenes. Furious that this demon had made him lose track of Wulf, Walker swears revenge on the Phantom and the werewolf.
