I recently got my hands on a grocery store variegated mini jade/elephant bush (portulacaria afra) plant for around $5 (US dollars). The entire seedling pot was actually made of three individual plants, so I split up the pot, adding two of the plants to a larger outdoor box arrangement and planting the third into a small 2" pot for eventual bonsai purposes.
Out of curiosity, I decided to see if I could encourage a couple of tiny trimmings into putting out roots through water propogation. So I put these tiny trimmings into a small vial of water.
We'll see what happens.

there was an elephant bush with pretty blooms at the (chain retailer) plant store that was too big for us to buy. so we snagged a couple of straggling branches from one pot.
I don’t condone stealing but propagation is just too easy to buy a giant plant I don’t have space for (we bought like 6 other plants anyway).

I recently illustrated a memo game "Endangered Animal Babies" for Treecer. This memo game contains 72 unique illustrations and 36 endangered animal species. Each pair consists of the parent and the baby animal and all the illustrations were done in watercolor.
I'm really grateful for this opportunity and very happy with the outcome of the game! The game is sold by WWF Finland and Treecer at the moment.

Although they were surrounded by green shrubs and trees, the smaller of these two elephants was bound and determined to eat a tiny little shrub that was no more than two feet tall.
Tumblr media
The shrub was small but tough, and it took her several minutes to pry it loose.

...but it seemed to be delicious.

Her friend wanted a taste but was too slow.

African bush elephants in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Henning Borgersen

Also known as the African savanna elephant, is one of two extant African elephant species and one of three extant elephant species. It is the largest living terrestrial animal.
As herbivores, they spend much of their days foraging and eating grass, leaves, bark, fruit, and a variety of foliage. They need to eat about 350 pounds of vegetation every day.
Their range spans a variety of habitats, from the open savanna to the desert, and can be found in most African countries.

African Bush Elephant Loxodonta africana Family: Equidae Genus: Equus Subspecies: 00
Feed: Herbivorous Habitat: Subtropical Dry Forest Status and Conservation: Endangered The largest elephant species, it stands as the tallest terrestrial animal on Earth, reaching heights of up to 3.96 meters. Highly social and exceptionally intelligent, elephants exhibit remarkable traits.
Given their impressive size and strong social bonds, elephants are effectively free from predators. Although young elephants may occasionally fall prey to lions or hyenas, their overall vulnerability is minimal.
Regrettably, the sole threat to their existence is us, humans. Throughout history, we have hunted elephants for sustenance and weaponry. In modern times, however, our pursuit of these magnificent creatures is driven primarily by a desire for ornamental purposes. _________________________________________ Thank you, guys, for being here.
