More "Brink state" concept art, + "On the Brink"!
I wanted to create a form change that, combined with Vee's usual appearance, would be a high contrast, eye-catching, and give a feeling of this mortal becoming 'ethereal, not himself.' As though he's possessed by something outside of himself. Gold was chosen for his eyes to complement and contrast sharply against his usual pink eyes.
I played around with the black sclera for a bit, but for now I've settled on the fully golden ones. [Though the black sclera MAY still make an appearance in Find Your Wings ;>]

Mwy o eirfa pêl droed: More football vocabulary, in light of the World Cup qualifiers involving Wales (part 1)
troed (pl: traed) -> foot/feet
ei droed de. His right foot
dechnegol -> technically
(Yn) Amlwg -> clear, obvious (adv)
Mae'n amlwg. It is clear.
Profiadol -> experienced (adj)
profiad -> experience (noun)
Chwaraewyr ifanc heb lawer o brofiad. Young players without much experience.
Cyflym/yn gyflym -> fast, quickly
Mor gyflym, Brennan Johnson. So quick, Brennan Johnson.
yn agos -> close (adv/adj?)
Mae e'n dod yn agos, ond methu sgorio. He comes close, but cannot score.
trydydd -> third
Ei drydydd cap dros Gymru. His third cap for Wales.
tro -> turn
yn enwedig -> especially
Ei gôl ryngwladol gyntaf. His first international goal
Croeso nôl i Radio Cymru, yn fyw o stadiwm Dinas y Caerdydd Welcome back to Radio Cymru, live from the Cardiff City stadium.
bob tro -> every time
yn erbyn Abertawe. against Swansea (y clwb! Does dim neb yn casáu'r dinas Abertawe, dwi'n gobeithio)

(spoiler: wnaethon ni ei weld e)
All e sgôrio arall? Can he score another?
Awstria -> Austria
Y Weriniaeth Siec -> The Czech Republic
(this was on the Radio Cymru site, I'm realising y or yr is kind of up in the air regarding "w". Some regard it as a vowel sound to always tack 'r' before, some are cool with "y w...")
Rygbi Unedig -> Rugby United
Pencampwriaeth -> championship
Chris Gunter o Gasnewydd... Chris Gunter from Newport...
Sylwebaeth -> Commentary (yn Gymraeg, sy'n dwi wedi bod gwrando arno*, weithiau)
(*something about sentences in Welsh not being allowed to end with a 'hanging' preposition so 'ar' wouldn't work... will look it up again later)
Cynghrair Y Cenhedloedd -> Nations League
Campwaith -> A work of art, a masterpiece
Na fydd llais 'da fi ar ôl y gêm! Mae'n rhy gyffrous! I won't have a voice left after the game. It's too exciting!
Gêm gyfartal (pl: gemau cyfartal) -> drawn games (fel heddi)
disclaimer: everything was hastily scribbled *during* the game, there are probably typos

Winter Wonderland Ball 2017
Tumblr media
Hello Darcyland! We’re very excited to announce our upcoming Wintershock event for December. It’s not a challenge, a contest, or a swap. Nay, it’s a BALL.
Yes, we’re having a party, and it’s running all month.
How do you take part? By posting whatever you want with the hashtag #fyws winter. We want your stories, your art, your graphics, your headcanons, whatever you want to post.
There’s one simple theme:
Winter Weather.
Give us snuggling for warmth. Give us snowed in at a remote cabin. Give us hot chocolate and ice skating and snowball fights.
Any and all winter holidays are welcome!  Or no holidays at all! We also recognise that some of you are in the Southern hemisphere and December is the height of summer for you so if you want to write about opening presents on a beach, fair does.
There are no limits, no judging, just fun. Post whenever you like between December 1st and 31st with the tag, share what you love, and bring the glitter!

Innerview: Nathan Reusch / The Record Machine
October 2008
Art: DJG Design
Note: Interview for a series called "Where Are They Now?"
Over the years we have gotten to work with really great creative people. After doing this for five years we want to give you guys some more insight on who has helped be a part of this label and make it what it is today. First off we have an interview with Danny Gibson of DJG Design. Danny has always been behind the scenes at TRM. He has helped create almost all of our logos and helped us with a lot of art direction and design since the begining. He also designed our very first release for Jame Dean Trio. 01) Introduction I was at the historic first official meeting of The Record Machine held at McCoy’s in West Port of Kansas City, MO over half a decade ago. My say didn’t amount to much. I think my mouth was full as I was mostly positioned to eat free cheeseburgers. 02) How have you been spending your days? My days are spent. Creeping on the Crow’s Feet I find that time is more easily measured in flap jack format than ever before. Something big has always been beaming and beating and I find myself blind peeping to see how far back the dogs with prickly sticks in their mouths yip, kick and nip for my heels. I do beat the crickets up at 5 am Monday thru Saturday in order to pinch a bit back. Evenings and weekends find me down slide sliver squeezes as well. I engage in making things and find some peace through all the pieces with my maker in the act of doing so. The handful of women I share space with enlightenment my walk as well…kitties and wife. Walks are good too and Fall time is the best for comfortable living in Kansas City. 03) Where have you been spending your days or evenings? A bounty of selections from my basement is always on the menu. I’m easily entertained hunched over at my good ol’ door desk. In the mean time I appreciate the company of my wife, kitty hair on my clothes, celebrating all movies, well-tailored music that sometimes requires a third ear and high rise stacks of books and comics. For nourishment I scrape every pan and pot my wife cooks in. And I am the dishwasher. In the twilight occasion, a one scoop waffle cone of peanut butter ice cream at Miami Ice just down the street does me correctly. If I’m in need to see the stars or get away, the family farm isn’t too far off. 04) What has been in your ears? I love big chunks of ear wax. While rockin’ to the thunder that Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band brought at Sprint Center here in KC, I had a big chunk of ear gunk fall out and it was heavenly. I’m really tickled by the musical foundations a fellow basement dweller named Micah Buzan of Blue Springs, MO is cranking out. He is only 18 and one to watch. Other Kansas City area highlights include The Tambourine Club and The ACBs, who both not only crank out some great and fresh music, but are genuinely lovely lads and don’t boast at the art of playing “rock star”. Far out of this area…I’m excited to hear more from Empire of the Sun as the single “Walking on a Dream” is some of the best dance pop I’ve heard since Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album. Which, I’ve been rattling the rafters with that ’80s gold as well whenever I tire of the Samey So-So’s of most things current. Though, there are a few great new ones and “Evil Urges” by My Morning Jackets is my favorite album so far in 2008. And I can never get enough Bruce Springsteen in my diet. Every day and sometimes every minute of the day calls for a different selection from The Boss’s healthy catalogue. I’m also into the music of Suicide lately. Oh, and I’m quite convinced that Harry Nilsson is one of our finest song craftsmen as a handful of his albums have really been making sense to me and his range is all over the map. 05) What has been inspiring or refreshing to you lately? The work ethic, ideas, passion and output of singer-songwriters Harry Nilsson and Bruce Springsteen gets me going. I finished reading Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road” for the second and one half times and it is gold. I like Michael Chabon’s writing and work ethic a lot too and am spending my second Fall in his books…the same with Flannery O’Connor. In terms of arts and crafts, Saul Steinberg, Henryk Tomaszewski, Eric Carle and Bill Traylor continue to get me to smiling. Oh, and I must hand out an exclamation to fellow maker Ben Chlapek of Neversleeping.com as he is involved with a lot of lovely creations. 06) Earliest Influences that you can think of? Farm Life / Giant Watermelon Patches / Giant Pumpkins / Grandaddy Long Legs / Dead Animals Under Bed / Homemade Stuffed Animals / Taxidermy / Seed Corn Packaging and Farm Implement Logos / Small Town Gas Stations / Uncle Ed’s Horse Drawing Skills / The Seasons / Fireworks / Animals Big and Little / Hunting / Dead Animal Backpack / Grandma Gibson’s Handmade Aesthetics, Checker skills, Sugar Cookies and Salmon Patties / Grandpa Gibson’s Burnt Pancakes and Old Western-Love Story Reading / The Sand Box / Tree Houses and Forts / Popping Asphalt Bubbles in Summertime / Snow Days / Hard Rains / Holidays / Fishing / Camping / Guns and War / Drawing WWII Battles with Dad / Raccoon Wall Paper / Puppets / Anything Jim Henson / Mad Magazine / Mad Balls / Garbage Pail Kids / Dr. Demento / Taping Music Off the Radio / “Live & Let Die” by Paul McCartney & Wings / Mom’s Record Pile / The Beatles / Oldies Music / ‘70s T.V. Theme Tunes / ‘80s Pop Music (Michael Jackson for sure) / Weird Al Yankovic / Ren & Stimpy / Pee-Wee’s Playhouse / Saturday Morning Cartoons / “Gummi Bears” / Comic Books / Tractor Pulls / Big Foot (Creature and Monster Truck) / “Star Wars” / “The Swiss Family Robinson” / “James Bond” / “Indiana Jones” / “Rambo” / “Commando” / “Batman” (Tim Burton) / Going to the Movies / Pizza and Tacos / Soda Pop / Flavored Frozen Pops / Kick Ball / Grandma Dayton’s Spaghetti / Racking Leaves and Riding to the Dump with Grandpa Dayton / Sports (Michael Jordan for sure) / Sports Team Mascots / Sports Stadiums / Collecting Sports Trading Cards / Skyscrapers / Cake and Ice Cream / Late Nights at Best Friend Ean’s Funeral Home House / “…red and yellow, black and white they are precious in his sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world.” / Being Alone / Cutting and Pasting / Falling Off a Slide, Hitting My Head and Blacking Out in Kindergarten 07) Best thing you have seen on a little or big screen in a while? P.T. Anderson’s “Punch-Drunk Love” is my favorite movie and I just took my 8th dip with it. My favorite 2008 movie and the best rockumentary ever so far is “Young @ Heart” and close behind for top of this year is “Be Kind Rewind” and “Son of Rambow”. This Fall and Winter look to boast one of the finest crops of films…I’m highly anticipating “The Road”, “The Wrestler”, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, “Synecdoche, NY”, “The Changeling” and many others. Other great watches of late (old and new) include “The Tin Drum”, “Hoop Dreams”, “It’s A Wonderful Life”, “The Wicker Man” (1973), “Sorry, Haters”, “The Seven Year Itch”, “The Cars That Ate Paris”, “Don’t Look Now”, “Dark Days”, “Rat Catcher”, “The King of Kong”, “Alice”, “Dear Wendy” and “The Band’s Visit”. On the small screen, “Planet Earth” is mind-blowing worship that demands for me to invest in a projector for the future. In T.V. Land this summer I discovered and fell in love with “Beauty & The Geek”. I’m excited for the cool new sci-fi show with cool typography called “Fringe” and another season with the excellent “How I Met Your Mother”. Currently I’m backtracking through the entire series of “Sex & The City” and am absolutely loving it and can’t wait to get the movie! Oh, and the live Broadway production of “The Drowsy Chaperone” is gold genius and made me cry. 08) Last best show you have been to? Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band in Kansas City on August 24, 2008. It is the best show I’ve ever seen, even better than two previous Boss concerts. Sprint Center is now officially called Spring Center. I can’t wait for the Super Bowl half-time… 09) Any links to things you want to pass along? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYwhvD2-fYw 10) The Final Word? (one word only please) GRILLEDCHEESETOMATOSOUP -djg

Brenda Chamberlain
Tumblr media
Llenor, bardd, ac arlunydd oedd Brenda Chamberlain a aned ar 17 Mawrth 1912 ym Mangor. Ers pan oedd yn blentyn, gwyddai mai bod yn artist oedd ei bwriad ym mywyd, ac aeth i astudio celf yn y Royal Academy of Arts yn Llundain. Dychwelodd wedyn i fyw yn Llanllechid, gan sefydlu gwasg fechan, Caseg Press, gyda’i gŵr, John Petts, lle’r oeddent yn argraffu cyfresi o gerddi darluniedig mewn cydweithrediad â’r bardd Alun Lewis, ymysg darnau bychain eraill. Ysgarodd y ddau yn 1943. Enillodd hi’r Fedal Aur am Gelfyddyd Gain ddwywaith yn Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru yn 1951 ac 1953. Bu hi’n byw bywyd tawel o’r neilltu ar y cyfan, a bu’n byw am gyfnod ar Ynys Enlli am bymtheg blynedd, ac yna yn 1962, bu’n byw ar ynys Hydra yng Ngwlad Groeg, cyn dychwelyd eto i Gymru yn 1969. Bu farw yn 1971. Dangoswyd ei gwaith yn aml yn ystod ei bywyd, a chyhoeddodd nifer o lyfrau o gerddi a rhyddiaith fel ei gilydd.
Fel un a fu fyw ar ynysoedd ac a hudwyd gan y môr, treiddiodd yr arfordir i’w gwaith hi. Ceir ganddi bwyslais morol yn aml, a bron na ellir canfod rhythm a grym y llanw yn ei darluniau ac yn ei geiriau. Mae yn sicr ansawdd dyfrol i’w gwaith hi, hyd yn oed pan fydd yn trafod y mewndiroedd, ac yn hyn o beth, mae hyd heddiw ryw newydd-deb ynglŷn ag e. Bydd y dyfroedd yn ymglymu â rhyw ymdeimlad o bellter a cholled yn ei chelf, a dichon fod y rhain yn deillio o’r rhwygiadau yn ei bywyd a’r unigedd a brofodd o bryd i’w gilydd. Gwelir hyn gliriaf efallai yn ei llyfr A Rope of Vines a ail-gyhoeddwyd yn weddol ddiweddar yn y gyfres Library of Wales, gan wasg Parthian. Cyfunir ei rhyddiaith ysgafn ond trawiadol â darluniau inc ganddi, ac mae eu moelni ymddangosiadol yn wrthbwynt diddorol i huodledd synhwyrol y geiriau.
Mae hi’n nodedig am ei benywaidd-dra gweithredol ac eofn nad yw’n ufuddhau i ddisgwyliadau diflas ynghylch rôl y fenyw, wrth iddi deithio’n eiddgar ac encilio yn aml rhag y byd. Mynnodd ei llwybr ei hun, er y gallai hynny fod yn anodd, ac er ei diwedd trist, a hithau yn y pen draw yn cyflawni hunan-laddiad, mae hi’n gadael gwaith hynod fywiog sy’n dysteb i’w hysbryd mentrus hi. Gwrthododd ferfeiddio; gwrthododd ildio i hunanfodlonrwydd a diflastod. Creodd gelf o fyd cyfnewidiol y llanw a’r trai a welai o’i hynysoedd, ac mae Cymru’n gyfoethocach o’i herwydd.

Newyddion/News: Sengl Newydd Breichiau Hir - ‘Preseb o Ias’
Bydd 'Preseb o Ias', y sengl newydd gan Breichiau Hir allan Gorffennaf 24 ar Libertino.
Dyma Steff Dafydd, prif leisydd y band, yn egluro ychydig am y trac:"Ers diwedd 2019, ni wedi bod yn brysur uffernol yn 'sgwennu a recordio ein album cyntaf. Fe orffennom ni’r broses rhyw noswaith yng nghanol yr wythnos gyntaf o Fawrth, just cyn i’r byd gloi eu drysau. Y cynllun oedd i rhyddhau llond llaw o senglau cyn rhyddhau’r Album cyfan yn yr haf.Ar ôl trafod popeth, ni wedi penderfynnu gohurio rhyddhau’r album. Ni’n gutted, ond roedd y syniad o rhyddhau’r album heb allu chwarae’r caneuon yn fyw, i rhoi bywyd i nhw ddim yn apelio. Am nawr, ni wedi dadorchuddio cân natho ni recordio nol yn 2018 o’r enw Preseb o Ias. Gafodd y gân ddim y cyfle i gael ei rhyddhau fel sengl, ond ni’n proud iawn ohono fe a ni’n falch bod e’n gweld golau dydd. Mae'r gân am wasgu'r bywyd a chariad allan o bopeth tan iddo gael ei ddifetha a'r unig beth sydd ar ôl yw cragen. Y thema mwya hyfryd ni erioed 'di dewis, dwi'n siŵr.
Mae'r gân yn rhoi darlun o rhywun yn mynd trwy bywyd mewn turmoil, yn achosi anhrefn a choas llwyr. Teimlodd y gân yn gryf, yn manic ac ysgytwol o'r eiliad dechreuon ni weithio arno - felly dyma o le daeth y themâu. Ry'n ni'n dwlu ar deimlad trydanol y gân a'i angerdd a'i chynddaredd erchyll.Mae'n dechrau gyda outburst o gitars creulon a threisgar a chanu-gweiddi a rhywle yn y canol, mae'n cymryd gafael ac yn tynnu dy anadl cyn iddo adeiladu'r egni crac nôl fyny tuag at y diwedd. Mae'r gwaith celf wedi cael ei wneud gan yr artist o Gaerdydd, John Rowley. Mae John yn postio portreadau o'i hun yn gwisgio masgs amrywiol ar ei gyfrif instagram. (@john.rowley.17). Mae'n creu masg yn ddyddiol o'r pethau mae'n ffeindio o gwmpas y lle yn ei dŷ neu yn ei ardd, yna'n cymryd hunlun bron bob dydd yn union yr un lle bob tro. Mae e ar hyn o bryd ar masg rhif 322. Ry'n ni'n caru'r prosiect a pan welon ni'r hoelion wedi'u tapio i'w wyneb roedd rhaid i ni ddenfyddio'r llun fel gwaith celf y sengl. Mae e mor disturbing a dwi'n meddwl bod e'n gweddu themâu'r gân i'r dim. Ry'n ni'n argymell yn gryf bo chi'n cymryd golwg ar y cyfrif yma."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 'Preseb o Ias', the new single by Breichiau Hir is out July 24th on Libertino Records.
Here's Steff Dafydd, the band's lead vocalist, to explain more about the track:"Since the end of 2019, we’ve been incredibly busy writing and recording our debut album. We finished the process on the first week of March, just before the world went into lockdown. We planned to release a few singles from April until the album’s release in the summer. After a few lengthy discussions, we’ve decided to postpone releasing the album. We’re gutted, but we didn’t want to release it without being able to play it live. For now, we’ve dug up an unreleased song we recorded in 2018 called Preseb O Ias. This song was written and recorded quite some time before we started work on the album and it never got the opportunity to be released as a single, but we’re very proud of it and glad that it’s seeing the light of day.
Preseb o Ias kind of translates to A Crib Of Shivers. The song is about squeezing everything out of love and life with such force that it destroys it and you end up with a hollow shell. One of our most uplifting themes to date, I’m sure.The song projects imagery of someone scrambling through life in turmoil, causing distraught and terror, chaos rushing through every aspect of their life.The song felt fierce, manic and immediate from the moment we started working on it - this informed the themes of the song. We love the electricity of the song and the horrible rage It begins with a brutal outburst, violent guitars and demonic shout-singing and somewhere in the middle, it grips control and takes a breath, before building up this fiery rage back up and ending with frantic energy again. The cover art is a photo from Cardiff-based artist John Rowley. He posts masked self-portraits regularly on his instagram account (@john.rowley.17 / https://www.instagram.com/john.rowley.17/). He makes a mask from things he finds around the place and takes a selfie in the same exact spot everytime. He’s currently on mask 322. We love the project and when we saw the one with big nails taped to his face, we had to use it. It’s so disturbing and I think it fits the sound and themes of the song perfectly. We highly recommend checking out the account for his other masks."
