You heard someone calling your name over and over, a familiar voice - a voice you had fallen very much in love with.

“Wait for me!” He shouted, and you could hear the rumble of his feet as he had gotten closer. Rock Lee was definitely someone you never thought you’d ever meet in person. You had seen Gai around, often running around with his students in tow and Lee always catching your eye. When he had run into you (quite literally) one day, you couldn’t stop yourself from sputtering around him like an idiot, but he just found it endearing, finding you absolutely adorable.

Gai encouraged him to spend time with you when he wasn’t training, especially since the announcement of another Great War.

“y/n!” He had finally caught up to you, that beautiful smile on his face. You’d never get over the fact that you, a mere civilian of the Konoha, managed to garner this man’s attention. “Are you heading to the market?”

“I am.” You gripped the bag in your hands, looking up at the taller male in front of you.

“May I accompany you?”

“Only if you tell me about your day on the way.” Lee’s smile was your favorite smile. It’s always made you feel fuzzy inside you. He offered you his elbow to loop your arm inside, and he must have been used to the stares he got frequently because everyone’s eyes were on you and he just continued telling about the recent mission he’d been on and his time before Gai left with Naruto on the ship. He didn’t stop talking until you both were standing in front of your doorstep.

It wasn’t like Lee to stay quiet, twiddling his thumbs as you pushed your door open and your head tilted to the side as you looked him over curiously.

“Aren’t you coming inside?” When he finally looked up from the floor, Lee’s eyes were… sad. It was something you weren’t used to.

“y/n.” his words were quiet, uncharacteristic. “I’m leaving soon… a few days…”

“Wha- already?”

“Can we meet tonight?”

You nodded before you could even think twice about it; the smile on Lee’s when you said yes was more than enough reassurance that you made the right choice.

You weren’t sure why you were so nervous to spend time with Lee. Maybe it was because you could almost feel your excitement seeping out of your bones. Was this a date? You’d probably consider it a date with the way his eyes shone when you said yes to him, and with the way he’s looking at you now. And especially considering he didn’t wear that green jumpsuit to dinner. He had finished his entire meal pretty quickly after you had started, a rush in his movements like you’d never seen before.

“De-dessert?” Your cheeks burned as you stood up, clearing the plates and drinks from the table and carrying them to the sink. You were just starting to do the dishes when you heard Lee whisper your name once more and as you tilted your head, you were surprised by the look in his eyes. When did he get so close?

You weren’t sure when you nodded or when his face had dipped down, but now your lips were molding together slowly while a subconscious sigh left your lips at the press of his.
