i feel like there's a lot of lines in spoken words that absolutely slap way harder than they have any right to for a fic i wrote in less than six hours. but i especially love this one, because i said "ouch" OUT LOUD while writing it, dfjkghfk

this was SO HARD could do just a top five lines ever just out of this fic alone i am so proud of it. i picked this one though for two reasons: the first, because i spent a long time thinking while writing the passage this is in thinking about what it feels like to fall in love for the first time, and i tried to channel all the emotions i remember: that blinding, heart-racing adrenaline spike of exhilaration mixed with vulnerability and fear of the unknown and the inexplicable feeling of safety and comfort that being with your loved one brings. and im just REALLY happy with how it came out. second, because this reads so melodically in my head and i just love how it sounds both in my head and read aloud. catch me podficcing my own fic lmaoo

Temari is more strict and more Asian tiger mom vibes HAHAH

Gaara is strict but definitely is more likely to gently reprimand when it comes to it, but if his disappointment shows through it DEFINITELY shows

Shikadai gets into more trouble especially when Boruto is involved lmao so Temari is more likely to yell haha

Shinki is a pretty well-behaved and obedient child so there isn’t really MUCH opportunity for Gaara to be upset with him but he does sometime lack tact when it comes his blunt nature and that can get him a Look (TM) from his father

Gaara x Fem!Reader - Redheaded Plushtoy

You had been feeling like shit ever since you had officially been deemed unable to work or go out on any missions after a rather taxing battle with another village's damned rogue ninja.

You lay in your bed like god-damned mummy, covered in bandages despite your victory in the battle. It honestly looks worse than it is, the stab wounds weren't even that deep!

The room is silent as you sulk in bed, staring at the wall with a face like thunder because you can't get back to sleep.

"AAH! This is bullshit!"

The bed creaks as you get up to dress yourself, thinking that by the time you get to Gaara at the Kazekage Tower, he'll be wide awake to dote on you and keep you occupied. If you weren't so miserable and pouty right now, you'd find it funny that your relationship has come to a place where you can and will come to his very important glorified house, at his very important job, with his very important colleagues, just to annoy him.

The second your foot is through the main door in front of his desk he sighs tiredly, giving you a stern look and his voice gives you chills as you limp closer, a cheeky grin plastered on your face.

"What are you doing here? Did you walk? You know you're supposed to be in recovery... Right?"

He's not surprised when you completely ignore his worried but somehow still deadpan expression, not answering any of his questions and planting yourself in his lap, all too pleased with yourself for making it here in one piece.

"See? I didn't fall apart on the way here. I'm fine!"

You're met with a rather blunt reply and you mentally curse Naruto for teaching your sweet Gaara sarcasm. Back in Konoha, Naruto falls out of his bed and wacks his head on his nightstand, wondering what the hell just happened.

"You are falling apart, the bandages are just holding you together while you continue to destroy your body."

With that you let out a defeated sigh and your loving boyfriend wraps his arms around your waist to manouvre you, picking you up bridal style and carrying you to the bedroom, the floor above the office. He's ahead of work a little, so he can afford to take the day off to make sure you recover.

"Why must you continuously push yourself like this? You will pay the price sooner or later. I'd rather not have you taken from me because you're impatient and impulsive, honey."

An irk mark appears at your forehead as you listen to him call you, his girlfriend, impatient and impulsive, the casual way he said it striking a real nerve in you and making you prepare a lecture for him so he never calls you that again. You quickly rethink your decision when he speaks again.

"I just don't want to lose you. I've lost so much already, I won't lose you as well..."

What a sweetheart. He's just an absolute sweetheart. You can't even stop yourself from giving him those puppy eyes of yours as you wrap your arms around his neck and cuddle him like he's some kind of plush toy. He's so strong and well built that he makes such a good partner for cuddling.

So when he lays you in his bed you pull him down with you, eliciting a soft smile from the redhead as you stroke the kanji on his forehead and tell him you love him, listening and hugging him harder as he settles into the bed and repeats your words to you in response.

Oh jeez, this is hard. Picking just five? Yikes. I love all my fic or I wouldn't write them, lol.

But alas, t.e has spoken.

Okay, Tsundoku, of course, because it's my baby. All associated fic probably count just as that anyway lol. My longest running series - and longest word count, even discounting the rewrite - that showcases my evolution as a writer as well as my growth.

bitter, blunt, biting because it was just, super fun to write and it got away from me? Bouncing ideas off of @laternenfisch and the art she made was honestly a fantastic process. It was an exchange fic - and yeah, I never heard from my giftee which ouch but still - and it was just... enjoyable to make. It's super hard for me to finish things because they never feel polished enough, but I actually am pleased with the ending of that one.

Probably Ubuntu after that. I've always really enjoyed Gin and there is a deficit of good fic with him as a main character. GinSan was one of my first ships as a kid - never really got into ZoSan - and just fleshing out that tragedy and angst is honestly fantastically fun. He's practically a blank slate of a character to play with, and I do enjoy building them up lol.

denizens of the sands of time is literally a sandbox of fun and playing around. It's like a zen garden, but in fic form. I do not take this fic seriously at all because why would I? Gaara is basically retired and on vacation, and when I feel like writing it that's the vibe I get.

And finally... probably Icarus. Watch me burn, oh, my icarus started out as something fun for my discord server and then exploded. I wanted DabiZawa content, and I'm a sucker for a good Time Travel fic so that was the obvious choice. Then, I felt bad for Hawks because I do love DabiHawks so like. DabiHawkZawa was born and I have no regrets, and also no idea what I'm doing.

I never understood why many people claim that Sasuke hated Sakura during part 1. That‘s complete nonsense.

Sasuke was blunt, honest and very direct with his words towards her, but he never HATED Sakura. He always wanted her to work on her ninja skills and focus less towards him.

Sasuke said, that Sakura along with Naruto was one of his precious comerades during the Gaara attack. He was willing to die so that Naruto and Sakura could flee and be safe.

So how anyone can say, that Sasuke hated Sakura is beyond me.

Gonna preface this by saying I’m not autistic so if I’m wrong please feel free to correct me. With that said

I think there’s some legitimacy in the idea that Sai is possibly on the autism spectrum. He tends to take things very literally. Has trouble with interpreting human emotions to a point where he needs to actually study it. He also finds it difficult to emote himself. He can be very blunt with his words and comments and doesn’t seem to realize when he’s hurt other peoples feelings unless he’d done it with the aim to do so. But even then he consistently sticks to the same insults and teasings over and over (eg: him making fun of Naruto’s dick)

His jutsu style is very unique to his own compared to other Shinobis except for the ones born with a specific kekkei genkai. It could be interpreted as a fixation or special interest of his hence why he can implement it as part of his jutsu style so well

Of course you can say this was all caused by his time with root but compare him to someone like Yamato, who’d also been in root for far longer than sai, but doesn’t have issues with reading social cues or communicating himself the way Sai does.

I also like the idea because it adds some layers and complexities to his character. Especially since none of these things stop him from improving as a person and learning new things. Being who he is isn’t a detriment. It’s just a part of who he is. It doesn’t stop him from learning to become a good friend. To move away from the brainwashing he’d been subjected to under Danzo so he could develop his own identity and beliefs.

What I like about his friendship with Naruto is that Naruto never avoids him (except for their initial meeting which is fair since he saw Sai as trying to take Sasuke’s place). Naruto doesn’t shy away from him. When Sai admits to not understanding Narutos goals, he doesn’t brush the guy off. He takes time to explain. Like always, he allows himself to be vulnerable in a way Sai was taught not to be. In later chapters he’s also shown to trust Sai completely and is able to communicate with him in a fight without words (eg: in their fight against Karui and Omo). Naruto (similar to how he makes friends in general) does not shut Sai out and that’s significant. There’s a reason why Sai is protective and devoted to Naruto’s ideals the same way Gaara or Shikamaru is.

Which is why I hate it when I read fics where he’s depicted as just an apathetic, creep. Sai deserves so much better.

Oh my god I was hoping to answer this one!!

the character everyone gets wrong

None other than my boye Kanks!!! I see him so often portrayed as a complete fool, and yeah, he's goofy sometimes (as well as Temari, in the last few episodes of shippuden, which to me means everything that they feel so comfortable acting out with Gaara), but he's not an idiot. He's canonically a very dangerous and cunning guy, and the only reason we may not see that as much anymore is because he's one of the good guys now.

Temari - solely because I feel like people get too easily lost in the bossgirl direction and resent when she acts feminine or nurturing. Temari is unbelievable strict and has high standards, and yes she won't pretend to be nice to people she doesn't respect especially when she's a kid, but she's anti-war, she cares about her family (first her siblings, then her husband and child) more than anything, loyal, blunt and straightforward, but unfamiliar with love, and to me all of that is her charm.

So I hate it when people are mad when she shows softer sides of herself.. guys, it's a good thing she can do that now!

I reread Gaara Hidan: A Sandstorm Mirage, and I can't forget the scene where Gaara admits to having read makeout paradise to better understand romance so I wrote this.

"Seriously?!" Kankuro looked at his younger brother in surprise.

"Sorry but, how did you not realize Shikamaru and Temari were a thing?" Gaara tilted his head in confusion at Kankuros' question.

"Was it obvious?"

"Painfully obvious."

That had been two days ago. Since then, in an effort to learn what he had obviously failed to see, procured copies of all the MakeOut Paradise books that had been written by Narutos' late master. Gaara was under the impression that reading them would help him to better understand romance. While he was in the middle of reading the first one, his friend and anbu commander, Hasu Tsukichou, walked into his office, and upon seeing what was in his hand, his face flushed.

"My lord, what's that you're reading?" Hasu stepped closer to the desk for a better look in hopes he was wrong.

"Makeout Paradise." Gaara simply, and bluntly said.

"Gaara, " Started Hasu, not bothering to use formalities. "It's porn."

"And I'm a 20-year-old young man who's painfully ignorant about the world of sex and romance." Once again, blunt. Hasu was silent, his mouth repeatedly opening and closing as if struggling for words.

"Ok, I can't argue with that. Just be careful about reading it, won't be good if the elders or other shinobi find out you're reading porn on your breaks. Any questions about anything just ask me." Hasu put a small stack of papers on his desk before walking out muttering under his breath and shaking his head. Hasu heard a small "Noted." from Gaara before closing the door.

My OC: Aki Kamiya

I got inspired by @justmyownreality​ and decided it was time to introduce the world to my main OC, Aki Kamiya, from A Crystal in the Sand.

~Background~

Aki Kamiya was born in Konoha, but was always raised to go to Suna. A possessor of the Crystal Release kekkei genkai, she had the ability to seal tailed beasts, so she was chosen to be Gaara and Shukaku’s sealer. When she was six, she was sent to Suna for a month to see if she and Gaara were compatible. They very much were - the two were the best of friends from the very start.

Unfortunately, due to interference from Rasa’s desire to turn Gaara into a weapon, their friendship was severed for many years. Gaara believed Aki hated him and wanted to kill him, resulting in him attempting to kill her and giving her the scar on her shoulder.

Aki would eventually leave Konoha behind for reasons and destinations unknown. Many years later, she would turn up in Suna again. This time, it was to stay - she joined their ranks, officially became Gaara’s sealer, and rekindled the friendship they’d once so cherished.

~Powers~

As mentioned before, she has the Crystal Release kekkei genkai. This is what she defaults to in battle and what she uses to craft her weapons such as her kunai.

She is also a very strong sensory type. When she uses her sensory skills, she can easily pick out any target that’s nearby no matter how they try to conceal themselves.

Her chakra affinity is Earth, and is well versed in using Earth Release. She can also use Fire Release, though it is quite weak.

She has an animal summon, centipedes. They were also her main teachers after she left Konoha, and they trained her in many things including her sensory skills, speed, taijutsu, and poison resistance.

~Interesting Things~

She’s very tall. At the current moment in A Crystal in the Sand (age 14), she’s 5′9″/175 cm.

She has a sister, Yoshiko, who’s six years younger than she is.

Aki’s favorite food is steamed pork buns, while her least favorite is strawberries (she’s allergic).

She’s very good at sewing and jewelry making.

She loves to pamper herself and make herself feel pretty. She loves shopping for clothes and trying out new beauty treatments.

She cannot cook at all. She burns water.

Her biggest weaknesses are her temper and her blunt tongue. If you piss her off, you’ll know it immediately.

~Shipping~

I’m sure this is a shock to everyone, but I ship Aki with Gaara, and the two WILL have a healthy relationship and a happy ending (or else).

Completely depends on who the person is. She trusts the judgment of those who have proven themselves trustworthy, but her default is to not trust their judgment initially. She does NOT trust the judgment of the twins, Deidara, Pain, Orochimaru, or most of the Konoha 12 (since she doesn’t know them well.) She’s hesitant to trust Kankurō’s but only because she knows his judgment is often times rooted in his emotions and feelings (towards his siblings, her daughter, and herself.)

She absolutely trusts the judgment of Itachi, Konan, Kisame, Shikamaru, Gaara, Temari, Kakashi, Shino, and Baki.

Lust 3: Would you say your oc is bashful about intimate conversations, or are they the blunt one that makes everyone else uncomfortable?

Haha no. She actually finds a bit of joy in making others uncomfortable with the inappropriate things she says. Unless, of course, she has feelings for that person but doesn’t know how the other person feels yet. She was very hesitant in making comments in front of Itachi or having actual conversations about intimacy, until she felt secure in their relationship. She was fine with flirting with Kankurō and having conversations with him with intimate topics, all until she had her moment of realizing she was actually in love with him, and then she became much less blunt about it.

Gluttony 4: Do they eat healthy, or tend to eat a lot of junk food?

She grew up an orphan during war time in Amegakure, so there wasn’t much care of what type of food she was eating. Food is food. Now that she’s older and her little family isn’t scrounging for sustenance, she tends to indulge herself whenever she can.

Envy 6: Does your oc want to be envied? Why or why not?

Not necessarily. She has a mindset of “you wish you were as good as me” when she’s a teenager, but that mostly comes from a standpoint of knowing that she’s a bit overpowered, especially compared to the other genin. Once she’s older, and most of the people she cares about dies (the Akatsuki, the twins, Itachi), she literally cannot think of why anyone would envy her.

But then when she’s with Kankuro, she would not be upset if she found out that people were jealous of their relationship. She knows her man is hot, and she always feels very conflicted on whether or not she wants other to know that as well. On one hand she wants everyone to acknowledge it because people should appreciate him in the way she does, but she also doesn’t want anyone getting any ideas about him.

Wrath 3: Is your oc easy to disappoint? How so?

Mostly, she is easily disappointed in herself. She grew up hearing how terrible the world is and how no one knows the pain that her family has gone through, so she tends to expect the worst out of people. She’s done some pretty terrible things herself, so she just expects others to be just as cruel/violent. It’s very surprising to her when she meets someone who doesn’t think the same way, and she finds herself extremely confused/drawn to these people. Even when she’s at the chunin exams and her target is Naruto, she keeps thinking to herself that she hates that he has to die for the cause.

Sloth 5: How does your oc help calm others down? Are they good at it?

When she’s younger, she tends to be an instigator. If it’s someone she cares about, she’ll ask who hurt them and immediately try to go fight them. If it’s an enemy/someone she doesn’t like (looking at you, Hidan) she doesn’t even try to neutralize the problem, she just jumps in to fight. But if it’s her closest friends and it isn’t because of someone else that they’re upset/mad, she’ll try to diffuse the tension by making jokes. When she’s older and has kids, she tends to make food for whoever is upset, but also will tell jokes while cooking.

Greed 2: Do they have a prized possession? What is it?

She actually has two. One is a picture of her, Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato that was taken on her fourth birthday, which happened to also be the day before Yahiko died and Nagato was paralyzed. The other one is a bouquet of paper roses. The roses are made up of the first roses that Konan helped her make and the first rose she ever made on her own.

Do you think that shinki and shikadai get into a lot of trouble when they're together? How would the parents deal with that

They both care a whole lot about their families and their family reputation and put a lot of effort into meeting those expectations so I doubt they will deliberately get into trouble but I can see Shikadai getting a little nosy sometimes and will try to snoop out what the drama is lmao. I think it’s less troublemaking and more talking back against council members that causes conflicts.

Shikadai knows the council are not too keen on Shikamaru and he absolutely will not stand his father being bad mouthed. Shikamaru isn’t one to be bothered and Temari will seethe but feels she can’t risk Gaara’s standing by talking back, but Shikadai? Oh boy, he is invincible and will easily pull out both his father’s wit and his mother’s sharp tongue to put people in their places.

Shinki has historically been blunt with his responses, he’s learned to tailor his words a little more as he got older but he’s still not great at hiding his disdain and irritation with people, ESPECIALLY if they look down on him. Gaara reassures him enough that he doesn’t feel so much insecurity about his place in the family as he used, but there are those who still don’t fully accept him and his temper has gotten the best of him
