I found it extremely satisfying and also healing to watch Drew disarm a large number of commonplace anti-trans talking points pushed evangelicals. I mean it's specifically a response to Frank Turek but he's not the only one saying these things, in part because people watch him and choose to repeat. Drew is extremely methodical in his approach and does a great job of explaining how the research does not support the claims Turek is making. He really makes it clear that the rhetoric they're pushing does cause harm and needs to be stopped.

Every Once In A While I Go Outside
Surprisingly, it's true! I even took this picture! When going outside! With other people!
Got around to using more dithering as a primary effect, rather than trying to make my CRT-like screen effects more believable. I like this font too, I'm pretty sure it's what Genetically Modified Skeptic used on his merch, which was cool to spot in his most recent vid!

Advice on deconverting:
The anger is REAL. If you aren't pissed off already, then you'll probably be eventually with the shit they taught you/what happened to you. And you're ALLOWED to feel that way, but PLEASE PRIORITIZE YOUR SAFETY. Try not to get into arguments. The anger will dimish with time, especially if you focus on good, healing things. Don't downplay or run away from your anger, but shift your focus from bad people to yourself and your allies.
THE FEAR IS ALSO REAL. It's a normal reaction to show up during confrontations and sermons, so notice it but don't let it control your decisions. Especially when you go through a difficult situation... going back to god may be tempting, but eventually you'll never even remember him during hard times lol
BUILD A SAFETY NET!!! Irl friends, online spaces, everything you can find to help you!!!
You'll have to learn to leave so many things and people behind. It hurts, but I promise it'll get better beyond the wall. And refrain from "saving" others: they'll never deconvert against their will.
Even if you still believe in the supernatural, give it a break and learn to accept a non-magical reality. I'm not saying you should be an atheist but it's so important to be at peace with the idea of permanent death, human-made morality, an indifferent universe and such. These ideas were extremely liberating for me, but I know they're worrisome for some. You gotta build your new worldview based on objectivity first
So, it's so important not to overwhelm yourself. Your journey is like a tower, built one brick at a time.
Knowledge is your friend, and especially the same type you may have avoided before. I'm talking of evolution, debunking theist arguments, the history of christianity, other religions, demonology, etc. I like the YT channels of Genetically Modified Skeptic, Forrest Valkai, Professor Dave Explains, Religion for Breakfast, Esoterica, and Aron Ra's series on Noah's Ark. Aaand you'll find more good ones along the way!
Healing from religious trauma is like any other kind of trauma: lots of ups and downs, you may relapse, have breakdowns, and you're bound to make mistakes too. In my case, I was already pretty far in my recovery from mental illnesses before deconverting, and so I employed tactics like the safety net in this situation and although I made mistakes too, I mostly felt at ease. I also recognized and dealt with religious trauma still inside the religion, but I only notice now that I could only FULLY heal from its effects outside the church.
Wish you the best

Tech, Wrecker, poncho?
A Good Poncho
(Thanks for the prompts!)
"Got you something," Wrecker said, tossing a pile of cloth into Tech's lap. Tech blinked up at him, perplexed, and held out the cloth for inspection.
It was sturdy, dense material, yet finely woven in such a way that Tech suspected it would repel the elements handily. It was also woven in some of the most garish colors he had ever seen -- a nearly fluorescent yellow, running stripes of orange and red, and edging in a ferocious green.
"What is it, and why?" Tech asked skeptically.
"Souvenir poncho," said Wrecker, grinning. "Hey, if Hunter and I had to try to blend in, figured we'd get you something too just in case. You never know when you might need a good poncho!"
"I cannot fathom ever needing this item, Wrecker, but the thought is appreciated."
-
Tech groaned, coming to on his back. From the steady mechanical hum in his ears and the familiar sensation of the bunk below him, he knew he was back on the Marauder. His left leg throbbed, but the pain was noticeably less severe; that combined with his muzzy awareness of the situation suggested that his leg had been set and braced with the aid of some powerful pain medication.
"You're awake," Wrecker said from somewhere nearby. "Good to see it. Can't believe you were up and fighting on a broken leg!" His voice was warm with unmistakable pride.
Tech rolled to his side, squinting at where his brother sat nearby. His goggles were missing, likely removed by one of his brothers once it was apparent he had lost consciousness. "We have been genetically modified for increased pain tolerance and healing capability. It is not so surprising."
"I'm trying to give you a compliment." He chuckled. "Need your goggles? Here, I got 'em."
Wrecker handed them over, and Tech affixed them back over his eyes, the world shifting into clearer focus once again. He still felt peculiar from the effects of the pain medication, but knew that it would pass in time. "Thank you."
"Need anything else?"
Tech considered, running through the sensations in his body. "I am cold."
"Got it." Wrecker said, getting up and rummaging for something. He returned with a vast fabric square in yellow, orange, red and green, rolling it out over Tech and tucking it in around him. "Ha! Looks great on you."
Tech sighed. "I suppose you were right."
"About what?"
"'You never know when you might need a good poncho.' Thank you, Wrecker." He gave Wrecker a small smile, and was gratified when it was returned with one of Wrecker's ear to ear grins. Tech settled back against the bunk, warm and secure with the sounds of the Marauder around him, and fell back into a restful sleep.

SpaceTime -- A brief history
SpaceTime is Australia’s most popular and respected astronomy and space science news program – averaging over two million downloads every year. We’re also number five in the United States.  The show reports on the latest stories and discoveries making news in astronomy, space flight, and science.  SpaceTime features weekly interviews with leading Australian scientists about their research.  The show began life in 1995 as ‘StarStuff’ on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) NewsRadio network.  Award winning investigative reporter Stuart Gary created the program during more than fifteen years as NewsRadio’s evening anchor and Science Editor.  Gary’s always loved science. He studied astronomy at university and was invited to undertake a PHD in astrophysics, but instead focused on his career in journalism and radio broadcasting. He worked as an announcer and music DJ in commercial radio, before becoming a journalist and eventually joining ABC News and Current Affairs. Later, Gary became part of the team that set up ABC NewsRadio and was one of its first presenters. When asked to put his science background to use, Gary developed StarStuff which he wrote, produced and hosted, consistently achieving 9 per cent of the national Australian radio audience based on the ABC’s Nielsen ratings survey figures for the five major Australian metro markets: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.  The StarStuff podcast was published on line by ABC Science -- achieving over 1.3 million downloads annually.  However, after some 20 years, the show finally wrapped up in December 2015 following ABC funding cuts, and a redirection of available finances to increase sports and horse racing coverage.  Rather than continue with the ABC, Gary resigned so that he could keep the show going independently.  StarStuff was rebranded as “SpaceTime”, with the first episode being broadcast in February 2016.  Over the years, SpaceTime has grown, more than doubling its former ABC audience numbers and expanding to include new segments such as the Science Report -- which provides a wrap of general science news, weekly skeptical science features, special reports looking at the latest computer and technology news, and Skywatch – which provides a monthly guide to the night skies. The show is published three times weekly (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and available from the United States National Science Foundation on Science Zone Radio, and through both i-heart Radio and Tune-In Radio.

Quick note: If you’re angelkin, please, for the love of everything holy, do NOT go into Doreen Virtue and Diana Cooper’s works. Please. If you’re trying to find information on angels, I suggest you go to more credible resources, and books about “angel magic” freely accessible to the public in Z Library, as well as ones on Enochian. You should also read about the other books that didn’t get into the bible, like the Book of Enoch, The Gospel of Mary, and The Acts of Paul and Thecla. I would also recommend you read about Dr. John Dee and the works revolving around him and his life, though most prominently, about his works and dealings surrounding the angels. Then, there’s Ronna Vezane, who speaks as Archangel Micheal has been “channeled” through her. Her works that revolve around the ‘teaching of Archangel Micheal’ are actually pretty good, though I don’t recommend buying the books about it, as the audiobook is free on Giving Voice to the Wisdom of Ages, which is a YouTube channel.
And if you want cool art, check out the Angelarium by Peter Mohrbacher. Very eldritch and lovecraftian-esque horror with a lot of spicy angels.
ESOTERICA and Giving Light to the Wisdom of the Ages are good YouTube channels to watch, if you’re interested about the workings of religion and mythology. If you’d like to see people break down Christianity to it’s core fundamentals and Christian beliefs, I suggest searching up “Genetically Modified Skeptic” for the odd shenanigans and a dive into the other side of the religious spectrum. There’s also Chabad.org who you can always trust with a few articles about angels and the Jewish belief about angels.
Hochelga on YouTube is also a great resource!
Putting my other two cents here is that while I am not Jewish, the teachings about angels in Jewish belief are absolutely wonderful, and there are a bunch of videos online that cover them. I listen to them more intently than the..er..Christians and the Catholics who’s main goal is for conversion.
Why not Doreen Virtue? Well, after making a fortune off angel oracle cards and tarot cards and books about angels, she stepped back, claimed they were all “demonic” and that the “angels” that showed up were demons in disguise, and is still actively profiting from the people who buy her old work. (Don’t.)
If you want angel tarot or oracle cards, I suggest these options:
The Angel Tarot by Travis McHenry, The Wild Unknown by Kim Krans, Ethereal Visions by Matt Hughes, Orien's Animal Tarot by Ambi Sun, Occult Tarot by Travis McHenry, Goetia-Tarot in Darkness by Fabio Listrani, Oracle of the Roses by Cheralyn Darcey, The Star Tarot (2nd Edition) by McClelland, Heaven and Earth Tarot Deck by Jack Sephiroth, Oracle of the Angels by Mario Duguay, Botanical Inspirations by Lynn Araujo, Cirque du Tarot by leeza Robertson and Micheal Joshua Tufts
Others: Angel Meditation Cards by Sonia Cafe
Why not Diana Cooper? Well..her thoughts about angels and all that aren’t all that bad (compared to Doreen, anyways.) but there is a tinge of ableism in her works, of autistic children being people who reincarnated with “heavy karma” and are supposedly paying the price for the past sins they’ve committed. While I can, to a reasonable extent, understand why she may think as such, but at the same time, that kind of thinking is very harmful, especially if you were to tell that to a child that their condition is a punishment from a higher being.

Abstract Members of the public can disagree with scientists in at least two ways: people can reject well-established scientific theories and they can believe fabricated, deceptive claims about science to be true. Scholars examining the reasons for these disagreements find that some individuals are more likely than others to diverge from scientists because of individual factors such as their science literacy, political ideology, and religiosity. This study builds on this literature by examining the role of conspiracy mentality in these two phenomena. Participants were recruited from a national online panel (N = 513) and in person from the first annual Flat Earth International Conference (N = 21). We found that conspiracy mentality and science literacy both play important roles in believing viral and deceptive claims about science, but evidence for the importance of conspiracy mentality in the rejection of science is much more mixed.
Science denialism permeates society. Though adamant anti-vaxxers and resolute flat Earthers may be small in numbers, many more people in the United States deny climate change and/or evolution (at least 50% and 33%, respectively). And while scientists face public denial of well-supported theories, popular culture celebrates pseudoscience: Olympic athletes engage in cupping, “gluten-free” is trending (even among those without disorders like celiac disease), and unsubstantiated alternative medicine methods flourish with support from cultural icons like Oprah. Governments face furious opposition to fluoridated water (when it was added to prevent tooth decay5), and popular restaurant chains, like Chipotle, proudly tout their opposition to genetically modified organisms (GMOs) (see https://www.chipotle.com/gmo; scientists stress that the focus should be on the risks and benefits of each specific product and not globally accepted or rejected based on the processes used to make them).
Moreover, the emergence of social media has provided a broad forum for the famous, not famous, and infamous alike to share and crowdsource opinions and even target misinformation to those who are most vulnerable. This allows so-called fake news to go viral. Yet who is most susceptible to denying science and/or believing misinformation? In the current study, we consider the extent to which conspiracy mentality leads people to (a) reject well-supported scientific theories and (b) accept viral and deceptive claims (commonly referred to as fake news) about science, two ways in which publics disagree with scientists.
[...]
Conclusion The proliferation of deceptive claims on social media has done a lot to normalize conspiracy, and to some extent conspiratorial worldviews. We can try to dismiss conspiracy theorizing as something undertaken only by a foil-hat-wearing fringe, however when our friends and neighbors (and sometimes ourselves) begin to believe and share conspiracies on social media, we must acknowledge that conspiracy theorizing is much more widespread. And when it becomes commonplace to project conspiratorial motives onto scientific institutions (and not just corporate or governmental ones) merely because information disagrees with our worldviews, we are in danger of entering into a space where knowledge becomes almost completely relative, we cannot engage in rational discussion with those with whom we disagree, and we completely break down the division of cognitive labor on which our society relies. Although we should not be gullible—after all, there are real conspiracies—we must learn how to balance skepticism with trust.

Anyways, pinkie swear this is the last Christian related thing I’ll post for awhile (unless that anon swings back) but if you guys are interested, here are some YouTubers I really like
TREY the explainer is either an academic biblical scholar or studied the history of the Bible or is just a historian who runs in biblical scholar circles (yeah idk). He has multiple videos debunking either things that have happens in the Bible, and explains the editing down in the Bible for a thousand years.
Miniminuteman is a freshly graduated archeologist who makes videos debunking stuff like young earth creationism, funky fossils, and those really weird conspiracy theories about how advanced ancient civilizations were. He also has a “lost lineage” series about our evolutionary ancestors!
Genetically Modified Skeptic is an ex-evangelical Christian who makes videos about stuff like his deconversion, debunking the opinions of awful Christians, and even delving into the history of the Bible itself. He has a video on the lost female apostle who was literally written out of the Bible during the Byzantine era, and then one about how the concept of hell didn’t exist until much later in the biblical construction process.
Anyways sorry sorry sorry I’ll stop and go back to the usual fuckery
