I know were all on an Adam kick rn but I wanted to get your take on what Alastor would be like with a fem partner?? Maybe someone thats a bit more innocent than him and doesnt ENJOY partaking in murder or cannibalism like he does
Unsure if this was a fic request or for me to answer in general! So if you want a fic just lmk!
But I think Alastor is really tricky because I love him but I don’t think he has a bone in his body that isn’t manipulative at least not one we have seen. So I think at first it’s a very (not toxic necessarily but still manipulative) but a much more guiding, nurturing role type relationship. Similar to Charlie and him AT FIRST cause I get that you would have the same vibes as Charlie with your hope, optimism and innocent. Cause I imagine innocent you falling down to hell being terrified and Alastor taking her under his wing. At first it’s just to get another deal or another soul but then he realizes like.
Oh. Oh I don’t think you’re supposed to be here at all. There’s absolutely been some sort of mixup because this girl is incapable of hurting anybody.
From then on I think he’d be more of a silent protector role. He’d know and respect your unease at his cannibalistic and violent lifestyle so he’d do his best to keep her out of it. No interacting with Vox, no other overlords other than Rosie, any freak outs/power trips he has he would always make sure you’re away from the danger and the sight. He doesn’t like you seeing him like that for some reason. (Rosie would have to explain to him that he might be in love or whatever that means to him)
I also think No one would know they’re together romantically until one day Angel makes an offhand comment to reader and as follows:
Angel: I just don’t understand toots, you’ve been in hell for ‘dis long and there hasn’t been a single dame or lad that’s tried to woo ya? It’s a crime! I mean look at ya!
You: *very flustered* oh thanks Angie. That’s not entirely true though Al and I have been together for…oh goes going over seven years at this point.
To which you slap a hand over your mouth because you and Alastor are very private and you just did the one thing he told you not to do. Al just slowly turns to look at you eye twitching.
Reactions as follows:
Angel: flabbergasted. Jaw has dropped. Eyes BULGING. Asking a million questions about your sex life.
Husk: chokes on his drink while promptly also dropping the bottle and shattering it on the floor
Niffty: she def already knew.
Charlie: LOUD SQUEALING, HUGS, A MILLION QUESTIONS
Vaggie: shock, horror, curiosity…but mostly the first too.
Both you and Alastor would get very overwhelmed and he’d teleport you both away, with a promise of answering questions later but him and his dear heart must be off on important business.
Anyway yah hope that’s what you’re looking for! That’s my take! And if you guys want little blurbs like this lmk I can probably crank these out much easier.

Mediation...?
This one I came up with as I walked to work, and so we will all explore it. It is a Post Empire AU. I know, I do not usually go for post-empire, but the horror and humor of this idea spoke to me.
Let’s take a look, yeah?
The AU part is that both Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker survived through the end of the Empire. So we don’t have to deal with too many changes too early, Obi Wan was severely injured and in Bacta for the entire time of the OT (or he got injured again just before the events of each movie, whichever works better).
After Vader comes back to the light, he is fitted with prosthetics that actually fit (including being the correct height). He is still required to wear a mask ,but it is more like Plo Koons than Vader (covering his mouth and nose but not his entire face). The burns he got from Mufastar meant that he had no hair, and the suit he wore for those years meant that he was unnaturally pale. As a consequence he no longer looks like Vader (not just because he lost 5 inches in height with the correct legs).
Most of the galaxy does not know that Vader and Anakin Skywalker are the same person. Anakin was also largely forgotten, and the few who did remember him (without knowing the Vader connection) would quietly muse about how much Vader seemed to hate Anakin Skywalker, the Hero without Fear (there is no doubt in my head that the person Vader hated the most was Anakin).
The Rebels do know that Anakin and Vader are the same person. Even as they are working to build the New Republic, no one is quite sure what, if anything, Anakin Skywalker should be charged with (War crimes. So many war crimes, they would need to invent new war crimes specifically for Vader-Though to be fair he is not the only living member of the Empire’s ruling body for this to be true). If he does need to be charged, and they could figure out what with, does his fall to the dark side constitute a mitigating factor (some kind of diminished capacity) or an enhancement (like a hate crime)? Where does killing the Emperor fit into any sentence he would have to serve? Is there even a way to enforce any sentence that a court could impose?
All of these questions and more would have to be answered before any trials could commence (including: how far does “following orders” mitigate actions, and how far up the chain of command can that excuse be used?). In the meanwhile Anakin hangs awkwardly around with his son when he is able.
Luke wants, deeply, to help his father become comfortable around people again. He also does not quite…understand is probably the best term…understand the depth of the horrors that Vader/Anakin created in his 20 years in the suit.  In his mind he knows, and has been told, most of what Vader has done, but to a certain extent he separated Anakin and Vader in his mind so there is a bit of disconnect (Some understandable cognitive dissonance).
He is at least aware enough that he is not looking to find Anakin friends among the rebels, who would naturally think of Vader first (and thus it would be uncomfortable for all involved). He understands that asking someone like Leia to try and befriend the being that tortured her then blew up her planet is not a good idea.
But there is one person he knows thinks of Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader as two different people. Obi Wan Kenobi.  Who is decidedly avoiding Anakin (in this Anakin can not blame him, the return to the light means that he does actually need to face everything he has done), but is also low key avoiding most people. Mostly Obi Wan is staying around the clones that still live (both to help those clones with their own guilt over their actions while chipped, the fact that their aging has finally been brought to human normal,  and frankly because he likes them more than most people these days-I imagine at least Cody-CodyWan for the win-, Rex, Gregor, Appo, and Wolffe but there are a good crowd), and the few Force users that survived the Purge. Also spending time with Leia.
Now a few things need to be made abundantly clear at this point. Luke does not know of the horrors Anakin perpetrated, as opposed to Vader (For all that Palpatine labeled him Vader before the march on the temple, I always headcanon that his last act as purely Anakin was the slaughter of the children in the council chamber but even then he did not truly become Vader until after he finds out that Padme died), not really. Few enough who live remember the march on the temple, what it meant that the temple (the home of the Jedi) was pillaged and burned. Fewer still ever knew that it was Anakin that led the march and slaughtered the children.
Oddly enough, Anakin Skywalker is the only person in the galaxy who knows the true horrific extent of his own crimes.
So Luke, with all the best of intentions, notices that Obi Wan is avoiding Anakin, and decides he will help his father and his teacher/mentor/uncle/that weird dude that lived in the desert makeup. Luke is attributing the awkwardness to Anakin’s 20 years as Vader (which, if we are being completely honest, is the least of the issues between Anakin and Obi Wan).
Luke decides he is going to hold something like a mediation to bridge those 20 years. Anakin is, at this point, incapable of denying Luke anything and agrees (in spite of the fact that even he can tell this will go poorly). Obi Wan does not actually agree as Luke does not tell him what they are meeting for, but once he arrives is semi blackmailed by Luke (leveraging the whole ‘you told me my father was dead thing/you lied to me my whole life’) which really only works because Obi Wan is also fairly vulnerable to young Skywalker children who remind him of the people who Obi Wan has lost (Satine would have done something similar, Obi Wan think nostalgically). Thinking that an audience would help create a more neutral location, Luke makes sure that Obi Wan is accompanied by a few of the clones (Appo in particular), and that Leia, Han, and Mon Mothma (as one of the few people who remember Padme and Anakin) are in the room. There are others.
Now Luke has all the best intentions with this, but he is, at best, missing some very critical information. At worst he is taking after one of his father’s worst traits (so sure he can fix a relationship that is not his, and is probably better left broken).
Both Anakin and Obi Wan silently agree to humor the sunshine boy.  At first they try to keep it to lighter disagreements and misunderstandings  (who saved who and who made the situation worse kind of thing). Anakin brings up at one point being unhappy that Obi Wan hid his children from him for almost 20 years, Obi Wan corrects that he hid them for almost 10 years from Vader, since he believed Anakin actually dead for the first 10, during which Vader maintained that Anakin was dead. Anakin withdraws his objection.
Then Anakin brings up the limb removal on Mustafar (which causes most of the room to go still, no one but the clones-whom Obi Wan had told- knew about the Mustafar fight). Obi Wan shoots back with an slightly irate rejoinder that it was a really measured response considering that Anakin had just: led a group of brainwashed soldiers into their home and slaughtered as many men, women, and children that he could; choked his very pregnant wife; ignored repeated attempts Obi Wan made to end the fight without further violence.
It was at this point that Appo started to have a panic attack (being one of the few surviving Clones who was actually there in the temple).  Obi Wan looked over at Luke, apologized and said this was not a good idea.  Then left with the clones, all trying to calm Appo back down.
The entire room is just…dead silence. Like Luke everyone, barring Anakin who did know this was going to go so badly, had sort of forgotten that Obi Wan was more than the weird desert guy who hung around with the clones, and sometimes Leia.  Luke is sitting there, really pale (He did have good intentions).
Like the people who realized the Jedi suffered a genocide when the Empire came into power had mostly died, the few that had survived all these years had buried that knowledge under the subsequent horrors of the Empire (They also largely forgot, or didn’t understand the horror of the chips both in the context of Order 66 and following orders in the Empire). It was not done out of maliciousness, or even ignorance, because the Jedi and the Clones (in that they lost everything of themselves and their culture in a moment) may have been the first genocide of the Empire but it was not the last.
I’m not sure where it would go from there, other than Anakin is charged with so many war crimes and accepts whatever punishment is determined.

For the birthday prompts (take it anywhere you like):
Dreamling - "Show me? Please?"
(and Happy Birthday fellow Capricorn!)
Prompt four for our day! We got the hints of Monsterfucker!Hob here with this one, so be warned if that's not your jam. Nothing crazy. Just Hob admiring Dream's nightmare form.
I have fifteen million ideas for this (a good half of them angsty) but decided on this, so hope you enjoy!
And thank you, fellow Capricorn, for the prompt! <3
Relationship: Hob/Dream Words: 1405 Warnings: Monsterfucker!Hob Ao3 Link
“Show me?” Hob asks, a hand on Dream’s chest. “Please?”
He does not know what he asks for. He is immortal, yes, but still human. And with it, a human mind and human limitations, even here in the Dreaming. It is impossible for Hob to know, to see, all that Dream is, even if he wished. Hob has done well so far comprehending exactly what Dream is and has even done well with taking the ever-changing nature of the Dreaming in stride. But this? What Hob Gadling asks for is well within comprehension for a human. That does not mean Dream wishes for him to know it, though.
They have been lovers now for well over three years. It is longer than Dream had expected and while Hob has done well to ease the fear Dream has that the end is just on the horizon, this ask could well destroy them.
“I promise I’ll let you know if it’s too much, yeah?” Hob adds, looking up into Dream’s night sky eyes with that same love and warmth he has always looked upon him with. Even after learning the power Dream wields, the otherworldliness of him, Hob has never looked at him with fear, only awe. Dream fears this would change it.
“This is not something you need see, Hob. I would not subject you to it needlessly.” Dream protests. He cups his own hand around Hob’s pressing his warm palm harder against his chest.
“It’s still you, though, isn’t it? It’s the form you take when dealing with Nightmares. It’s a whole half of you. You’ve seen all of me you can possibly see and you’ve still stuck around. Will you not give me the chance to do the same for you?” And in there lies the problem. For all the crimes and fears Hob claims, the darker parts of his nature, the violence that still lingers in his heart and bones, he is still human. There is nothing he could do that would be beyond Dream’s imagination. There is nothing he could do that Dream would not still love him for. The same is not true of Dream.
There is much Dream could do that would drive him away. There is much that Dream could do that is so far beyond human imagination that it is impossible for there not to be apart of him that Hob would shun. And the form he requests to see, the Nightmare of Dream, it is but the surface.
“Trust me?” Hob asks, his voice soft. And how could Dream deny him when he asks? There is very little he would not do for Hob Gadling. And even if he knows this could easily end their relationship and turn Hob’s love for him into fear, he will still do it. Because Hob asked.
“Very well,” Dream says, studying Hob’s features. He commits the scrunch of his nose, the pull of his lips, and the shine in his eyes to memory. Just in case. He steps back, letting his and Hob’s hand fall from his chest as he takes a deliberate breath in.
His form shifts. It is instantaneous. The normal human like form he wears as Dream of the Endless is replaced by the shape of the King of Nightmares. His limbs are long, stretched, and thin. The skin that clings to him is paler with sickly purple and blue hues. His back is hunched, spines protruding from each vertebrae. Claws replace his nails and large but thin fangs replace his teeth. His eyes are dark and large. Too large. Unsettlingly large. This form is unnatural. It is disturbing and is the creation of the fears and nightmares of the collective unconscious. It is everything it should be. And in this moment, it is also Dream’s fear.
Hob stares at him, mouth agape. Dream awaits the scream that will rip from his throat. He awaits the panic, the fear, that will settle into his bones. The pleas to change back, the cries that Hob was wrong, that this was a mistake. That Dream is a mistake. Dream does not wish to see it. He closes his eyes.
It is silent when a hand is placed upon his elongated snout-like face. Dream’s eyes open to see Hob standing directly in front of him with that same awe in his eyes he had just moments ago. His eyes dart across his form, taking him in. And then the man smiles.
“Brilliant,” he whispers as his gaze returns to Dream’s. His hand trails up along the bridge of his nose, following the path up to the top of Dream’s head. “You really are a marvel, aren’t you, darling?”
Dream does not understand.
“You…” his voice is rough, crackly, inhuman and wrong. Yet Hob does not flinch nor move away. If anything, his eyes light up at the sound. Perhaps Dream has broken him already. No mortal should react like this. “You are not afraid?”
“Afraid?” Hob asks, incredulously. “Why would I be afraid? You’re still you, right? What’s there to be afraid of?”
That… Dream does not know what he expected, but it wasn’t that. He blinks, the squelching of the slick black sludge-like substance that slowly drips from the cavities where his eyes sit is loud in the silence that follows. Hob continues his exploration of Dream’s form. His hands wander across the rough, bruised looking skin. Dream shivers under his touch which causes Hob to spin his head around, concerned etched into his features.
“Is… is this okay? Should have asked before…” He trails off, lifting his hands from Dream’s form.
“It is fine,” he croaks, shifting his body lower so Hob may reach more of him. His lover smiles brightly as he turns back. Dream closes his eyes, focusing on the feather-light touch of warm, calloused fingers running along the side of his spine. Hob’s other hand strokes the spikes that run along his back. Dream can’t help but smirk as he hears Hob mutter the words “amazing” and “wonderful” as he explores.
It almost coaxes Dream into a trance, the gentle touches and soft words. Then Hob presses a kiss to his side and Dream shutters. No one has touched him like this, in this form. Such a form, the guise of the King of Nightmares was meant for battles and fear, for screams and cries. Not tenderness and love. Dream does not know how to feel about it.
“Can I ask a potentially stupid question?” Hob asks, his lips still against Dream’s skin.
“I would have you speak freely, lover.”
Hob chuckles, the warm puffs of air send chills up his spine. He is not used to suppressing such reactions in this body. He has such mastery over his usual form, but here, as the embodiment of Nightmares, such control in manner like this is foreign. And judging by the smirk on Hob’s lips he can feel against his skin, Hob enjoys it.
“Does… can this form enjoy carnal pleasures, as you’ve put it, as well?” Dream can’t help but laugh. The noise is closer to a screech, like a fury in the night, or tire squealing on the road, than a laugh, but as he turns to face Hob, his love looking at him with that cheeky expression all the same.
“It can... if you would like it to.” Dream says, his voice turning into a growl at the end.
“And if I would like it to?” Hob replies, his hand tracing down the side of his ribs, curving under his hunched over stomach and further still. This form does not currently have any genitalia configured to it, though he suspects Hob would be more than willing to give him some ideas.
Dream reaches over, curling a large, clawed hand around Hob’s waist. He pulls him close, his lover’s face pressed against the bony snout and grins. Rows of sharp, pointy teeth reflect in Hob’s wide eyes. “Then prepare yourself, lover. I believe I would like to feast upon your body this night.”
Hob’s whine sends shivers down his spine. Hob’s mind may not be sane, but as lust fills his eyes and flashes of daydreams graze over Dream, he would not want his human any other way.

May I get the dissertation on Beverly Hills Cop. Please.
andrew just turned on our bluray so i dug through my inbox to see if this ask was still here. however i'm not gonna do anything fancy, just liveblog obnoxiously.
ultimately it's an 80s cop movie so don't expect it to age well and not be that. it's still aged better than eddie murphy's delirious but that's not saying much (do not try to watch eddie murphy's early standup in 2023).
anyway first of all the theme song fucking rules, i'll never forgive crazy frog for what they did to this song (and also the many other crimes of that vile amphibian)
youtube
eddie murphy really carries this fucking movie. can you believe they wanted to give this to stallone??? fucking imagine. he wanted to be a cool guy named snake who drove cool cars. we can't be in the worst of all possible universes because that didn't happen and he stuck all his bad ideas in cobra (1986). allegedly he quit over a disagreement about orange juice, which is probably not true but is very funny to imagine. every anecdote you've ever heard about a funny scene being improvised actually came from this movie, i think. this might be the only movie where that's true. the original script is, according to Everyone, fucking dire. it was actually twelve scripts clumsily pasted together. they had no choice but to let a bunch of feral comedians run wild and waste miles of film because they kept making each other laugh. it was the only way to salvage anything out of that script.
i know what i just said about the script but the beginning of the movie is a fucking masterclass in efficient storytelling. every beat conveys multiple important points of information. you meet axel doing an illegal deal and. okay the part where a cop car slowly comes up behind them in the alley while they're arguing about money is extremely funny. there's a whole fucking chase scene before they reveal that axel was a cop the whole time which really sets the tone. this man is a con artist. he's doing his own thing. everyone's sick of his shit. he'd be extremely good at his job if his job was being a wacky vigilante and not a fucking cop.
they introduce A Mysterious Figure From His Past whose whole deal establishes that axel actually was a criminal, and he's got criminal friends, and those friends were so good they took the fall for his ass. they love him! he loves them!! he owes his whole scummy life to this guy!!! it makes it good and devastating when he fucking dies, and yeah, sure, of course axel is going to travel to beverly hills to avenge his dead friend. the scene is set, it took very little time, it told you very little directly. all things i enjoy.
from here on out a major source of tension is the fundamental difference in policing between a poor black city and a rich white city. they deliberately designed the beverly hills police department set to look like a private security firm for rich people. they had to invent the concept of gps, which did not exist, for these bougie cops. axel expects to be able to get away with a lot more than he does. he expects the cops to put up with a lot less than they do. the scene where bogomil makes taggart apologize to axel and asks if axel wants to press charges is cringe as fuck for how it makes this look ridiculous and not fully fucking reasonable to expect a cop not to punch a guy, even if he's being annoying on purpose. but it's important to establish the level of culture shock this is for axel, who has never in his life seen a white officer experience a consequence (he personally experiences many consequences).
if axel foley were played by a white man there is a 100% chance there would have been a romantic subplot with his lady friend who worked for the same rich asshole as their murdered friend. we're all clear on that, right? like. i enjoy the lack of a romantic subplot, but we all know why that's missing, right? they did not leave jenny single for girl power reasons.
allegedly bronson pinchot didn't tell anyone he was going to do that fucking accent in the art gallery scene until they were already filming. i feel like that scene is just two men trying to get each other to break on camera. anyway pinchot got a gig on perfect strangers because of it so good call buddy.
fucking. taggart and rosewood. john ashton and judge reinhold. fucking perfect. they were teamed up in the audition and instead of acting like cops they acted like an old married couple and the genius doing casting was like "yes perfect" and they got the job and also stuck the audition scene in the movie. the part where rosewood talks about all the red meat in your bowels. excellent. i love them. rosewood being the by-the-book cop because he's a rookie while taggart is rougher around the edges is so good. rosewood actually having a blast and really wanting to tell the fun story of how axel distracted them with food delivery and stuck bananas in their tailpipe is so good. damon wayans is credited as "banana man". there are no small roles in this life.
and the movie does my favorite thing, which is establish that taggart and rosewood and even bogomil actually are competent. they don't seem like it because axel is there literally sticking bananas in tailpipes, but they ARE good at their jobs. the strip club scene? they could have made it another "axel foley is the coolest cop" scene where he brings that guy down. but instead the other cops see that he's onto something and follow his lead.
the "supercops" scene is great because ashton fucking breaks. you can see him break. he is trying so hard not to break but it's too fucking funny.
there are multiple scenes where axel fucks up and it's always because he's actually very emotional and upset about his fucking friend getting murdered by a rich guy who expects no consequences. all of his major fuckups are because he really cannot stand that guy being a smug asshole about it. the scene at the country club is the one i could most stand to cut, but it's important for establishing axel's rage and also hubris. he is angry and he is impatient and he KNOWS this motherfucker is up to something. he wants to ruin this man's life. he wants to humiliate him. he doesn't care if it's legal. however you couldn't lose this scene without also losing "this all happened the last time i parked here" so it has to stay. also the part where axel pretends to be gay and implies he gave another man herpes as a con hasn't aged well. i still laughed, but, you know. i recognize it for what it is.
there's such a good scene with bogomil. where he's like. axel. for the love of god. give me something. you are clearly an intelligent man and you clearly think you are onto something. we are on the same side here. what the fuck is going on. and axel lays it all out and bogomil is like "that all sounds very plausible but you have jack shit for evidence, we are going to try to find evidence so we can do something about this LEGALLY" and then it's made clear that he is also beholden to authorities, specifically an appointed official who is very much on the side of wealthy shitheads. "i wanna be a good cop but politicians won't let me" is horseshit but as a narrative device it's a good one. definitely preferable to that bbc sherlock "i am a genius, let's establish this by surrounding me with bumbling morons" approach. i mean it's true that cops are all bumbling morons but it's bad storytelling if your main character is also, literally or figuratively, a fucking cop.
rosewood being talked into helping because he's young and really wants to do good is also good. is there axel foley/billy rosewood fanfic? there must be. rosewood is smitten with axel. you can see it. axel tells rosewood to think of him whenever he gets out of the shower. the signs are all there. where was i. jenny's insistence on participating (because she ALSO wants to avenge her dead friend) creates an unfortunate damsel situation, but that works out because the instant a white lady is in danger that creates all the incentive the plot needs for the cops to be useful. did you know she was an amateur bodybuilder? they should have let her kick ass.
then at the end when bogomil is like. hello boss. i have an explanation for everything that you cannot disprove. which is bad! they killed a man and are falsifying a police report. but also it's an axel move and that makes it okay because it's movies. axel convincing bogomil to talk to his boss by threatening to stay in beverly hills is a quality gag.
there's an alternate universe where the character does that and becomes a private eye and we get a procedural tv show out of it. apparently that almost happened. instead we got beverly hills cops two and three, which aren't as good, because they were actual movies with real scripts and not just bizarre fever dreams assembled from scraps of action movies that no one wanted to make glued together by comedians wasting film with some of the best one-liners you've ever heard.

Wyll ravengard is a very funny character because he literally just. Has no idea the terrible things wrong with baldurs gate
Hes like BALDURS GATE IS A JEWEL. It WOULD HAVE WELCOMED REFUGEES 10 YEARS AGO!
Maybe thats true. Ten years ago. I doubt it. But maybe. TEN YEARS AGO. (Tbh I hope it isn't bc that means ulder made the city actively worse LOL)
But descent to avernus is a canon and it takes place the same year as bg3
There were HUNDREDS of refugees from elturel. Even more than are outside the gate now from the absolute
And they ALSO were not allowed in. In fact, some of them are beaten in the streets by the very flaming fist that wyll's dad is in charge of. For the crime of being refugees, I guess.
If u read the 5e stuff about baldurs gate its clear that baldurs gate is a truly terrible and unsafe place to live if ur poor. Even if ur rich its unsafe, but then at least u can stay in the upper city and gamble all day long away from The Poors.
Its a place defined by inequality and crime but also culture and magic and pride
Wyll sees the best in it, he sees the pride and the people and the magic. He was privileged enough to see only the best in it
As much as I love the idea of wyll as a fairy tale prince returning home and everyone loves him---ulder being from the lower city and going versus the nobles is HARD and he has had to fight to keep his power and fight to keep the lower city safe from the guild and make bad deals and lbr to work with the flaming fist, to work with the evil ass patriars, he had to let some things slide
Wyll has his work cut out for him! Just as his father did!
And I think being grand Duke would present an interesting challenge for him as a character, in that he would not be able to solve problems by fighting monsters or killing devils. He has to deal with evils of injustice, even within the people who work for him who protect him and who he may have at one point looked up to
And that's extremely difficult
There is political intrigue and frustrations and tragedy to be had
Wyll genuinely has the compassion and empathy and charm to help baldurs gate.
BUT.
The point of wylls narrative and the stuff with balduran and ansur is very much a wake up call that the fairy tale of his fathers hero balduran is built on lies and there is no one great man that can save baldurs gate. Just like there wasn't one great man that built it
Gortash himself is like, a foil to this because he believes he's the one great man who can fix every problem with literal mind control
It is MUCH easier for wyll to just step away from baldurs gate after all this. And if u let HIM choose, that's what he does
If he becomes grand Duke and his fathers heart of the gate, he becomes responsible and beholden to things we can't imagine
And tbh? Wyll doesn't have that many of his own allies like his Father had. He has to rely on people like florrick, people like the flaming fist. People who respected his father, people who will talk over and take advantage of the 26 year old who stopped his education at 17
His story doesn't really end here, u know? It's really just beginning
In fact with an evil arch Duke everyone genuinely seemed to believe in dead, so many patriars dead, Duke Stephane dead, who knows what happened to vanthampur, the flaming fist had sided with gortash, who knows what happened to the actual upper city watch.
Literally and truly. The story of the absolute, and BALDURAN is finally over. But the story of baldurs gate? Baby thats just beginning

Theory on Fyodor's ability: Crime and Punishment
With the latest chapter, I can sort of imagine like 30 theories about what Fyodor's deal could be. Honestly, there are so many hints scattered way back from Untold Origins until now about the large-scale world-building of Bungou Stray dogs that we can imagine all sorts of possibilities for a person like Fyodor. I'll attempt to entertain one of them (this is not my only theory). In my opinion, it is clear he has a power that allows him to "endure" for long periods in one shape or another. That could be resurrection, reincarnation, regeneration, life force related power..- I guess the easiest way to describe it is an ability that helps him stick around. Right now Fyodor appears immortal, but I want to theorize on different aspects of what we know about him. These are key elements I want to focus on for my theory - they helped me narrow down certain options. I feel like the solution to the puzzle is figuring out how one ability can allow him to kill people and remain alive for long periods of time. 1. Fyodor's health, lifespan, and care for personal security: From what we've been able to gather, it seems Fyodor was alive in the 15th century, based on certain references from the latest chapter. However, there is an interesting aspect to his character: He cares very little for his physical safety - he gets intentionally captured all the time. We know this to be true from the time he got caught by PM, and there are theories he also ended up in Mersault partially because he wanted to be there. Within the latest chapter, he appears to have been captured by Bram's people on purpose once more. Furthermore, he tells Ace that he is prepared and "trained" to endure starvation.
Tumblr media
This isn't the only time he gets in harm's way - arguably the entirety of Dead Apple was him putting himself at risk. Even so, while he MAY be immortal, and he puts himself in danger of losing his life, he is very sensitive about his health. In one databook, he mentions that his number 1 weakness is specifically his weak, sickly constitution. It seems getting ill is so upsetting to him that even if he survives a difficult endeavor like getting drowned, it's something he "isn't able to afford". Fyodor mentions this when he tries to drown Sigma and Dazai. He is anemic and hates getting sick/needs to be very careful about his health, every cover is drawn to show his dark circles and pale skin, Fyodor even admires good complexions on other people because his isn't that great according to databooks. This is a huge part of his character, and whenever we see additional material about Fyodor, there is 50% chance it's about his health issues (even for DA side material, the joke was he can't do much on weekends because his doctor told him to be careful about his blood pressure, according to one bit). What could this tell us about him? Fyodor constantly complains about getting ill: if he can regenerate ultra fast, this typically wouldn't be a problem. He says getting sick would be "intolerable for him". Ultimately, in a logical setting, an immune system largely allows a person to "regenerate" and many sickly people have a reduced capacity of doing this. Fyodor being able to regenerate super fast doesn't make a ton of sense. It is perhaps possible that Fyodor can regenerate large chunks of damage, but then his body enters a state of "suspension" which is why he's sickly - however, this doesn't fully track with the rest of what his abilities can do. I believe the biggest issue with Crime and Punishment is figuring out how the same ability that can kill others also allows him to live a long life (assuming this is all one ability). To continue examining this aspect of Fyodor, the wounds on his hand from his tick of finger biting don't seem to regenerate any faster than regular?
Tumblr media
Harukawa is not overly consistent with any of this, just like most mangaka, and we don't see Fyodor biting his hands much later down the line, but there are a couple of times when it seems she's drawing him with wounds and scars on his arm.
Tumblr media
I can remember like 2-3 other panels that show a lot of mini-scars, but manga artists tend to not be consistent with this level of detail. Hands are hard to draw af.
2. Bleeding I am pretty sure Fyodor's ability has to do with blood. I always theorized that he murders people by sacrificing some of his own blood, leading him to be anemic - there is very specific bleeding imagery whenever he kills people, and they usually die from bleeding out. I thought that was his "punishment" for committing a crime.
Tumblr media
How would this work into immortality? In Christianity, life is heavily related to blood. You'll hear phrases like "Blood of the covenant", "blood of a lamb", and "sacrificial blood". Every person he kills "bleeds" out, yet he is anemic? Seems too random for it to be unrelated. So, what do we know? 1) He was alive in one way or shape in the 15th century, those are his memories, implying he, as a soul, has existed for over 600 years. He is long-lived. 2) Fyodor appears to be relatively unconcerned with dying, but appears to be worried about getting sick? 3) Fyodor himself says that being ill is his biggest weakness. It's canon he is anemic, and his health never gets better. 4) His scar from getting slashed by Bram healed since then, since there is no scar right now.
Tumblr media
5) The wounds on his fingers don't heal super fast, meaning he likely doesn't have hyper regeneration. Being so sickly implies he doesn't have pure regeneration as well (from a logical point of view, but I suppose in a fictional setting it could make sense depending on how sensitive Asagiri is to detail). If he had regeneration, even to a baseline of his regular sickly self, he wouldn't say getting sick was "intolerable" for him, in my opinion. Fyodor isn't dramatic to complain about shit that doesn't get to him - he's alright with starvation and getting beaten. This sounds like he's afraid of more permanent damage (as an immune-compromised person, I can relate) If he got much sicker, he'd return to his old self eventually if he could regenerate, and he wouldn't have to worry that much. It is more likely he has something like complete resurrection from a state of being dead, rather than being able to regenerate over time. That follows what we already know. 6) His ability is connected to blood - making others bleed, and he himself being anemic. Blood in Christianity is associated with life. Does he have some form of life force manipulation? How does all of this come together? He is old af - meaning there is something up there. How could the above connect with immortality? A super sickly immortal? Why is he so sickly if he could regenerate? How would the same power that helps him live long also help him kill people?
I think it's possible that whatever he does with his abilities wears him out, and he has to change to another body eventually. Possibilities: 1) Killing people makes him sacrifice blood, so he gets sicker, until he dies. 2) Whenever he dies, it takes him a while to come back, so he can't afford to get sick and miss out on plans. However, if he has to die, it's still not a big deal if the reward is worth it, especially since he can come back, and others cannot. 3) Purely dying and reviving is easier than just switching to another body from sickly decay. The guy seems to panic more about getting sick than getting killed. Meaning he possibly has "periods" between resurrection/reincarnation/reviving. Perhaps he needs to die to revive into full health.
I guess it's possible that Fyodor's ability is related to life force itself? But how does that relate to the Crime and Punishment aspect?
Right now, I'd like to theorize that Fyodor's ability is essentially to "possess" people like a demon. Stay with me here. I'll try to explain what I mean by this: Fyodor can "possess" bodies. If he possesses them the right way, he takes over them and "rewrites them" to become him, including the physical appearance, which is why he looks the same throughout centuries. If he possesses them "wrongly", they die. The "crime/sin" is taking the body of another person - this is a profound violation in many religious teachings. "Possession" is a sin. Being able to possess bodies is one of the main trademarks of a Demon, which is how Fyodor is always nicknamed. Before he dies, he can change bodies.
I guess the easiest theory for me to imagine is that Fyodor is just a consciousness at this point, and he needs to "possess" bodies to keep living. Every single body he possesses occasionally wears down (this is the "punishment" part of his power), and he needs to keep finding new ones to keep living. Killing people wears down his current body even faster. Every time Fyodor "possesses" a new person he completely returns to his "baseline" form, and that is why he has no "old" scars from the 15th century. I assume finding a good body to possess may be more difficult, so that is why he avoids wearing down the current body with his power. Perhaps he starts killing his current host to possess another? And that is why he starts losing blood, making him anemic. The trick is that he doesn't finish the process. The reason Sigma was "brought into the world" was for Fyodor to have another "clean" body to possess. Asagiri even mentioned that Sigma was created in relation to specifically Fyodor's color pattern. Additionally, Asagiri told us to pay attention to "Chekhov's gun" cliffhangers, and this is one of the elements of the story we never got a resolution for - why was Sigma brought into this world, and why was he specifically made in relation to Fyodor's character? Having a body created by the Book, as a clean slate, may be perfect for Fyodor. Perhaps he cannot fully recover anymore from his broken health, even when he "reforms" after possessing someone, and that is why getting sick is worse for him than death - every time he "possesses someone" and takes their body, his body recovers less and less. Now, I want to elaborate on this. Why did Crime and Punishment not attack Fyodor in the mist? I guess one possibility is that Fyodor is a sentient ability. An ability that keeps possessing people.
Tumblr media
Fyodor's ability won't attack him, because it is the consciousness controlling the body. "Crime and Punishment are close acquaintances, the borders between us vanish"
Tumblr media
His fake speech to Sigma might be based on "half-truths" I have a theory that Fyodor's power ultimately synthesized with his real personality and became one indistinguishable whole. "The borders between us vanish" could possibly be a reference of the border between him and his power disappearing and leaving him corrupted. In my opinion, this would also explain why Fyodor wants to get rid of abilities - he wants to remove this curse from himself. While the ability may have conjoined with the real Fyodor, it still may be lost in how to act, and the real him continues being the root of all his desires. Dostoevsky's character was based on a chapter from Brother Karamazov where Vanya talks with the Devil - I feel like this is a huge hint to his character and the possible "possessive" part of his ability. Did human Fyodor summon a devil and had it become his power? Are abilities demons? Honestly, there are so many ways to interpret what we're seeing in BSD at the moment. I find it interesting that Fyodor wanted to see Bram and his "evil"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I think Fyodor may be fascinated with the existence of "good" and "evil" as equals - and is possibly fascinated by why "someone like him" exists. Why would God create an ultimately "evil" ability? And what about others who were born with evil powers such as Bram? They are just like Fyodor, which is why he relates to him. I feel like there is a lot of discussion to be had about the possible origins of abilities - the religious imagery, decay of angel themes, Nephilim theories, but I will leave this for another post. Also, I could write pages about Fyodor's ability, backstory and how it may be influencing his world view. I sort of have two theories in my head: Fyodor is a demon, or Fyodor is a human who was influenced by his "demonic" ability. I wrote this in a rush, so it's not well thought out at all, just a bunch of rambling, so thanks for reading again <333

Based of OG Ace Attorney cover, here's Leorio Paradinight crossover!
It was part of the HxH Game crossover event I 've decided to take part in.
If you want to learn more about this au, please click read more
About this au, some things are changed some stayed the same but just so you know, characters are kind of based on:
^Phoenix Wright - Leorio, aspiring defense lawyer, he wants to protect those whom people are averting their eyes from. He more or less willingly gets mentored by the stupidly smart brat Killlua who seems to know any law term and norm. They banter a lot but actually become decent friends.
^Maya Fey - Gon, a spiritualist of a world-renowed family Freecss with traditions. The rumors say they can contact the true spirit and connect with the netherworld. Has been saved by Leorio and Killua both, joins hands with them afterwards
^Edgewotrth - Kurapika, got mentored by the Zoldycks on how to become top prosecutor. He's utmost driven to not let any true criminal go unpunished. Gathers renown until the day he'll be able to catch Phantom Troupe and bring justice to the fallen, has a companionship with Killua bordering on sibiling bond
^Mia Fey and Franziska mix up - Killua, he has a pivotal role in leading Leorio's carier and actually becomes his mentor after triyng to cut off his ties to his inheritance as the Zoldyck heir, a true tycoon of the prosecution world. During trials if he decides to participate he takes on a role of a consultant.
As you can see, though Leorio is the titular attorney, Killua is the glue connecting everyone in here. But that just leaves all the more unresolved conflict because he hides the truth of his heritage. He found Leorio by chance and he got impressed by him after a second third take with the attitude he has, how it's not about money but bringing the truth to the table, pretty much opposite of the Zoldycks. I'm not good at writing but I'll try to say few things about their cases? It's more or less basing of "The Trilogy"but with the spin of HxH characters being themselves, it sure would reflect in the plot,
-A case about mysterious animal being spotted, the legendary Chimera Ant! Gon is a huge deal on this case because his spiritualist power call back to the wilderness and all the instinct one gets from it.A lot of logic/belief topic going on here and killugon spotlight
-A case of murder on the "Hunter X" movie plan, it's related to Gon because he was there to meet the main hero, Kite, his godfather. He gets roped into the investigation and is considered suspect for some time before
-Another case in which Gon is the main suspect. Since he's from family of spiritualists, vibing with the nature and otherworld. So when there's a case against him Killua is determined to find his innocence. Even if it means going against Kurapika. That's also the case that showcased Leorio and Kurapika's banter and whatnot so major old marriage leopika vibe
-There's a huge final case in which member of the PT's is murdered and who would have guessed, Kurapika is found bloodied on the crime scene. This is a very turnaround case because the one responsible for prosecuting it, is no one else but Killua after he disappeared (made a tactical retreat) from Leorio's side. Perhaps family pressure? Illumi blackmailing him? Being ashamed of 'tricking' Gon and Leorio and leaving Kurapika to deal with everything alone? All of the above, because now he stands against everyone he grew to be fond of. Eventually, the true killer gets found giving a chance to mend strained bonds, by joining hands in catching the real culprit all along that was hiding among the witnesses. The fake group member [wink] -Ps, Netero's just playing along for the trial's sake even if he's got the truth like way earlier, he's not naive, but likes seeing 'entertaining trial' as long as it's goes the right way eventually
-Leopika & killugon featured, all aged up, imagine lots and lots of banter and sexual tension in the court
That's it, thank you for reading my thoughts <3

I always thought that Goldheart was going to use Miss Heed's imprisonment to kick her out but looking as PEACE is covering up her actions further he so can't do that and has to keep her in Golden Rule.
I thought so too, but now I think it makes sense as P.E.A.C.E. needed to keep a neutral stance so that they still look like the hero in the situation:
Tumblr media
The people who were mind controlled by her want to see her behind bars, so they arrested her to make them look like the hero.
However, P.E.A.C.E. still needed to cover up a scandle that an acclamied heroine was mind controlling people for her own selfish reasons and P.E.A.C.E's involvement against it. So they just said she was locked up for kissing a villain in order to manipulate public opinion, such as those not involved in the mind control and rely on the news to get their "credible" source of information so they still look like the hero
So GoldHeart can't kick her out for a small reason as kissing a villain. As people won't believe she would be kicked out, which is a serious punishment, for that small reason like that, hence making them them suspect that she did something so horrible that she deserved the of kicked out and confirm people's suspicion that the rumour that she was mind controlling people for her own selfish reasons and P.E.A.C.E's involvement was true.
However I believe that GoldHeart had no intention of clearing her name and was fine with leaving her in the facility because she had no villains under her control which prevented them from doing crime, she was making no progress with the formula, was involved in a scandal that took months for him and P.E.A.C.E. to fix, much to his frustration, (I kinda imagine GoldHeart is frustrated here not only because Flug put a wrench in his plan, but he is also thinking about how much work he has to do clean up this scandal 😂)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And after the scandal, working with her would be considered a brand risk that would furthur damage The Golden Rule and more importantly his reputation.
Evidence to support this was when "Miss Heed is confident that GoldHeart will come after Flug, and seemed deluded when she hoped that GoldHeart will come from her"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having the same deluded reaction that GoldHeart will love her if she becomes the most beloved heroine after Flug perfects her perfume.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I believe that GoldHeart probably made it abundantly clear that he is not interested in her and she is only in his team out of necessity to make the perfect formula for his plan to end Villainy.
Also, to save their reputations he and the other Golden Rule Members probably just posted an insincere post on their social media account "wishing her a speedy recovery in rehab" and say the same thing when people asked them what they think about her during an interview after the scandal in Cosmopolis. Acting similar to when a news reporter asked GoldHeart about SunBlast.
Tumblr media
However I believe that GoldHeart would go with the flow of the situation.
Porccini mentioned in Chapter 12 of The Risky Heist that "heroism can be bought" and that's what Miss Heed's father did by making a deal with P.E.A.C.E. and using his villan connections in order to clear his daughter's name and restore her position as hero.
After Miss Heed's reputation was cleared after giving "evidence" that she was wrongly "imprisoned", GoldHeart and The Golden Rule would have no choice but to work with her again and side with her story, because of the deal with P.E.A.C.E and also because it would not make sense if he doesn't.
Afterwards she will probably be reinstated as a heroine and get her city back from the "Justice Guardian Friends" who was sent by P.E.A.C.E. to look over Cosmopolis while she was locked up.

rambling about the rick-unity-wong talk bc i'm upset about it
r: look, it's clear you weren't lying when you said you could've taken over earth because your finger just took over america. i need you to help me fix that.
u: oh, it took that to make you believe me?
r: why should i believe you? you show up unannounced and hijack a state.
u: i called you! multiple times! you ghosted me.
so there are two ways i think you can read rick not believing unity. one is that he believed it was trying anything to stay in proximity to rick even though he was asserting boundaries, or two, he did actually believe it but wanted to deal with the situation on his own or just wanted it gone. either way, he didn't want to be around it.
then there's the part about rick ghosting it. like okay yes. unity tried giving rick a heads up but the fact is that it knew rick wasn't answering its calls. it Knew rick wouldn't know it was there unless it made a big deal about it being there and that's what it did. it literally showed up without permission and assimilated a whole state on rick's home planet, in rick's country. just to get his attention.
w: rick, is that true?
r: she dumped me. why would i answer her calls?
and now we get a blatant explanation for why rick was ignoring unity. i imagine it would've been clear enough anyway without this explanation but rick is still upset from being broken up with. so he decided to ghost it with no explanation, cutting it off entirely.
w: alright, i'm going to commit a cardinal sin in couples therapy here, but rick, i think you're wrong. [..] you had an outer-space lady who was worried for your life and your response was hostile enough to cause a huge problem.
u: thank you.
w: now you're asking her to both forgive you and solve it?
now, the mistake wong makes here is assuming she knows the full story. obviously she's smart and i think she gave her best analysis based on what she knows of the situation, but in her ignorance she fails to listen to rick, her patient.
the whole theme of this episode is rick asserting his boundaries. he doesn't want to see unity because last time he did it ended catastrophically for him. he's not ignoring it out of pettiness but as a defence mechanism. a coping strategy. and when it decided to follow through with its plan of coming to america anyway, destroying the boundaries rick had in place, it made him lash out.
rick also has a tendency to self sabotage when things are going well for him, whether he realises it or not. he abuses morty when they get too close. he made unity party with him instead of doing its duties. his actions push people away, keeping them at arms length.
i believe his boundaries are in place to prevent these episodes of self sabotage. so when they get ignored and discarded, he goes back into that mindset.
and wong, who would be aware of this at least vaguely, blames unity's actions on rick ignoring it which is not fair in the slightest imo.
w: unity, i think the reason rick brought me here is that he doesn't know how to indicate to you he's changed. because he's changing very slowly. but he is.
now this is something i had trouble understanding bc i am a shameful rick apologist at the best of times and couldn't remember what he actually did wrong. his crime in this instance was when he was distracting unity from its work, influencing it to drink and party all the time and avoid its responsibilities. this became too much for it, especially when it saw how rick used the same methods to detach himself from his family.
so it broke up with him, leaving him to spiral into the worst mental state we as the audience have personally seen him in in present day - his suicide attempt. unity doesn't know about that, and i'm guessing wong doesn't either, because all rick needed to say to wong was that their breakup ended horribly for him so being around it is difficult for him and maybe she would've understood more. but no that's too much vulnerability for old man sanchez.
rick has changed since then. i imagine he better understands why unity left him. i also think he knows that it wants the best for him but struggles with accepting that. that's what led to this mess of a situation.
he feels hurt from being abandoned. it feels hurt that rick couldn't understand why it left. and all of this culminated in a messy situation where unity acted drastically to get rick's attention, and rick in his stubbornness and pain refused to accept it.
and so. i think wong spoke too quickly. i think she definitely knows rick's patterns and is right to call him out but made an unfair judgement on only him because even she expects the worst from him. he is changing, but she is encouraging unity not to give him a second chance because he's not there yet. when really that decision should be up to unity.
even though it does take agency at the end. after unity releases america from its hold, we get this absolutely heartbreaking scene between it and rick.
r: i trust you now.
u: that's nice. but i don't trust you.
unity turns rick's lack of trust in it back at him, and it's telling the truth. it feels betrayed by rick's actions in this episode because it only wanted to make sure rick was alright. to it, rick seems to be punishing unity for caring about him.
anyway in conclusion. rick is mentally ill, wong was a little too harsh on him in this episode bc it's a complex situation, and unity will act drastically if it can't get rick's attention. it's unfair to blame it all on rick in this case (even though things are normally his fault) bc while he did act immaturely in response, he wasn't the only one that escalated the conflict so drastically.
this is not a refined analysis. i might fix it later but no promises.

Sand and his generosity.
Sand is a great character and I find it interesting that even though he did a crime, is actively doing another crime the majority of the fandom is behind him being such a good guy, and he is. But it got me thinking. Why is he so generous towards ray?
Now 14 yr old me would have instantly said true love but now I know a lot more. Something about his care for ray feel so familiar. Like he knows exactly what to do with someone like ray, on the verge of an alcoholic spiral 24/7.
The first few episodes we see them connecting but even if they did connect more then the other couples, there was something huge missing. Sand didn't know the extend of rays addiction. And then we see sand processing it and then top comes barging in and derails him and the entire trainwreck that resulted and sand had understood just how gone ray is. That boy needs rehab asap.
But sand goes after him, he saves him, he takes care of him, he bends to his every whim and is happy to do so, only to be tossed aside. And it's in the way he takes care of him. He knows how to take care of a drunk person , he knows how to be gentle with them , he knows how to scold them without coming across as demeaning or prejudice. He has the patience of someone who's already dealt with circumstances like these. Of taking care of a loved one who is an addict.
You can see it in the way he doesn't bring up the outburst. He bought up the drunk driving because it has the potential to cause lasting harm. But an outburst in a bar will be just that an outburst. Sand doesn't know that ray had told mew about topton, but he doesn't give the outburst much thought when ray had attacked him directly. And that's where I think he knows what to except from an outburst from an addict and is choosing to not take it personally. And that level of insight is not typical in a 20 something college kid , even if the college kid works in a bar , because ray targeted him specially. Nobody would have blamed him if he didn't go, heck rays friends who he have known for years didn't go but sand a recent acquaintance went.
Now it can be said that sand has seen the good side of ray, and he has. When it comes with dealing with addicts most people focus on changing the bad side and forget about the good side. But sand didn't , he saw the good side, liked it and is trying to get that back. That smile in the bathtub, he thought he was getting it back. But then he saw raymew dancing and that look is so interesting. Because there's no anger, there's sadness, and heartbreak and disappointed. And there's resignation. He predicted it would happen and it did.
He wasn't disappointed with ray, he was disappointed in himself. He was dealing with an addict, trying to save him when the person doesn't want to be saved. Something he has done before. Something he so familiar with he was anticipating the heartbreak when he and ray had hooked up. It's exactly like playing with fire.
So why did he jump right in when he knows the pain, because it's familiar to him.
So who's this person who has given sand the experience with working with addicts . Either his mom who's the closest person we have seen to him or his ex.
Imagine if it was his ex , someone he loved , cared for and has helped with a recovery process but then top comes and takes him away. By using drugs.
Which would explain why sand is so mad at him , why he insisted that top stole him.
Sand saw the good side with his ex , helped him get back and all that was tossed away for the next fix that top had with him. And he fought tooth and nails for him , but the ex chose his next fix and not him.
Then his eyes fell on a boy similar to his ex , who's also going through addiction and sand wants to help him since it's so familiar. And he knows it's a bad idea and he is watching the exact same thing happen away and this time he's so resigned and too tired too fight.
His generosity is not just because he's a good person , it's because he's used to it, it's because it's familiar to him.

I've got some new Nancy Drew predictions for the remaining episodes...
They're probably wrong. But its more fun to concoct wild theories than do actual work.
4x09:  They kill the sin eater, in the process -Tristan is accidentally shot with an arrow - by Nancy. He's transported to a hospital alive, but critical and his life hangs in the balance.
4x10: The death of the sin eater kicks off some high-stakes drama with the wealthy elite of HSB. Meanwhile, Ace gets enchanted by a siren and his life is on the line. The only thing to break a siren's enchantment ends up being a kiss by the enchanted person's true love. Nancy is forced to trigger the curse in order to save Ace from the death-by-siren, but now Temperance's curse is activated. Just as you think "well...silver lining...at least Nancy and Ace don't have to fight their feelings anymore" - they get the news that Tristan has died.
4x11: Nancy is devastated. We saw how devastated she was in the hallucination when she killed Temperance - who was straight up evil and ready to destroy everyone in HSB. Imagine how she'd feel being "responsible" for the death of a friend? And, unless they find a way to stop Temperance's curse from killing Ace, he will be the next death on her conscience. As they try (and continue to fail) to find any way to prevent Ace's death, Ace's "concerning" conversation with Bess hints around wanting to create a new sin eater. If he has to die, at least don't let it be in vain. He'd be the human sacrifice because his death is likely anyway. And then Nancy could forget all about Tristan and Ace and her perceived "fault" for their deaths. And before you say "but these are tragic accidents, not sins/crimes" - I believe this is a grey area. Particularly if Nancy views what she did to Tristan as akin to involuntary manslaughter (the crime of accidentally killing another person due to some kind of negligent or reckless act). Like it's not intentional, but she views it as her "fault" because perhaps she was careless/reckless.
4x12: The Heartbreak of Truth - I keep thinking about this title and how it relates to the plot. Like, the HSB elite have been using the sin eater to refuse to deal with things that injured their psyche or emotional state. So in the end, Nancy can't do the same or she is no better. She has to learn how to deal with the "heartbreak of truth" instead of the "safety/comfort of lies"....It's learning how to deal with the pain you've created and experienced. I can't fathom what might happen with Ace here, but I still very much believe he may die (temporarily) and his Hardy name reveal will be on his headstone.
4x13: They resurrect Ace in the first 5 minutes and then Nace spends the rest of the episode in various states of undress. Or, I HAVE NO IDEA....but *manifesting*
(And I know Kennedy said we wouldn't know Tristan's whole deal until the finale - but I don't think he has to be alive for that either. We can still learn things about him even if he is dead.)

Thoughts on Endeavor?
i think he's a horrible guy but a great character. he reminds me a lot of my own dad (minus all of the. erm. unforgivable abuse and all. it's mostly vibes and motivations in my dad's case, none of the actual heinous shit) so it's hard for me to genuinely like endeavor, but at the same time i'm drawn to how his character develops. he's like a little case study for me. a little lab rat in the lab of my mind, if you will
pairing bakugou up with endeavor in terms of similar arcs was both a blessing and a curse imo. they both deal with atonement and not necessarily requiring any forgiveness from whom they hurt, and i think the emphasis on such an arc really benefits both characters. they're both introduced as unlikable individuals who have hurt others for seemingly no reason, but we learn through time their reasons for their actions. so that's why it's a blessing — really cool character writing that also aligns with the series' themes of always wanting to get better and to be a proper hero without the arbitrary status that comes with it. both are given ample time to change their worldviews and their interactions with others too
but it's also a curse because though bakugou and endeavor have similar arcs, they are so WILDLY different in scale. i wince every time i see someone compare bakugou's middle school bullying era with endeavor's LITERAL REPEATED AND INCREASINGLY WORSE ABUSE, and even worse, when they use that as justification as to why bakugou can never become a better person. as if bakugou at his silly ages of 5-14 could EVER do something as horrible as endeavor abusing his entire family and emotionally scarring all of them, which includes his eldest son straight up turning to villainy, his only daughter growing up too fast by trying to keep her broken family alive because there isn't a mother in the house anymore, his middle son straight up hating him and his youngest son refusing to use his fire side in order to get back at him. his wife grew increasingly less emotionally stable and burnt her youngest son due to the pain endeavor was causing her, and had to get sent to a mental institute in order to recover. all bakugou did was bully a little too many times for comfort, which is unfortunately rather common for kids and young teens. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.
the thing is, i genuinely think endeavor is an interesting character and i want to see where horikoshi is going with him. it's obvious that his entire family does not forgive him yet, and they may never will, due to the withstood damage he's done. he may work towards atonement but may never be redeemed and might even face his crimes in the court of law (which i think would be funny over everything. imagine endeavor in a courtroom.)
but i do think a lot of people very easily disregard his characterization and development because of his sincerely awful first impression. it's hard to empathize with an abusive father who has repeatedly hurt not only one family member, but all five of them. and it's pretty common knowledge that we shouldn't give abusers the time of day, because they'll take it and run
which is absolutely true in the real world, but turns murky when you apply it to endeavor who is clearly trying to better himself. and we know that because there's this fun thing called "looking at a character's POV as an omnipotent reader instead of as another character". we aren't rei, shouto, or anyone else who had the misfortune of being endeavor's family. we're able to see his growth completely detached from his self, so the whole "abusers can never become better, they will just keep abusing" argument works far less for us. we can apply it to real abusers, because we're not in their heads. but we are in endeavor's head sometimes. and it makes his interactions with his family, who clearly don't trust him yet, all the more interesting. like this is one of my favorite pages in the manga for a reason
Tumblr media
IT'S SO AWKWARD it's so funny there's so much unaddressed family issues that all stem from endeavor being a piece of shit. like the fact that bkdk are there and have no idea what the fuck to even say, because they're outsiders in this family drama. it's a no-brainer that endeavor was a terrible father and all but it still leads to scenes like these, where the reader can indulge in just how uncomfortable he makes his family. it's so silly
i guess what i'm trying to say is that i think endeavor is a character worth existing and analyzing, especially because of his purpose in the narrative and its themes. he sucks, yeah, and i will probably never grow to actually like him as an individual. he will never scrape the top 10s or even 20s or even 30s in my favorite character lists. but i think reducing his character to just "shitty abusive father who everyone should hate by default because he's a shitty abusive father" detracts from the overall worth he provides. you can hate him, but you can also, regardless, enjoy what he brings to the table. at least that's how it's like for me
it does, however, annoy me when some endeavor apologists just. don't recognize that he abused anyone at all. like bruh are you for real. what do you think his arc is even about

Hello! May I request a Riddler x GN Reader where they're both in Arkham and Reader's cell in front of his? Like- them chatting and him developing a crush
-🐰
A/N: You absolutely can 😁 idk why but Eddie with a partner in crime s/o like this is one of my favourite scenarios 👏🏼 it also reminds me of my first ever Riddler imagine that's got over 1K likes?!? I'm working on the next To My Hope chapter and some more matchups for you all too for soon 😍
Pairing: Dano!Riddler x reader (The Batman 2022)
Warnings: The reader's kinda crazy, fluff and stuff 💚
Tumblr media
•♡ Apart from the one ‘friend’ in Arkham near your cell, you kind of do your own thing and have fun creeping out guards and taking not of weak areas to help you and the friend to get out
•♡ Then comes The Riddler and the man with soft brown hair and clear-frame glasses who cries on his first night and rambles about nothing… right opposite your cell
•♡ You’re interested and kind of find it cute, so when you make the first move by introducing yourself you just watch as Edward jumps in shock and his green eyes go wide because he realises you’re talking to him in a sane kind of way??
•♡ And you’re pretty?!?!!! 😍
•♡ Expect a complete questioning from this man, he’s so curious about who you are and what you’ve done and everything about you - meanwhile, he doesn’t really find anything to brag about himself but is very proud of his riddling chaos
•♡ Of course, you’ve seen it all on the news from the guards’ office and he blushes really hard at your praise… until the Joker crashes the moment with a stupidly timed joke 🙃
•♡ If you’re an outright loud crazy person, Eddie admires and finds it funny and hot when you play up with the guards and try to manipulate them, flirting and stuff to get your way, but then finds himself jealous that they’re getting more attention than he could be lol
•♡ If you’re subtly crazy and are the type of person to give people long, wide-eyed stares and too-large smiles, he probably copies you and only really talks to you in Arkham- well, you and J
•♡ The three of you seem to be the only ones with a true ‘purpose’ in the nuthouse and Edward will hint at you being his future partner in crime because you’re smart and amazing and he can’t stop thinking about you even though it’s literally been two days
•♡ When he tells you stuff about the orphanage he can get really raw with his emotions, so you’ve learnt to do a thing where you press your hands against the glass as if you’re actually touching, and it comforts Ed and makes him focus on you again 🥰
•♡ You’re the only one he really confides in about future plans and likes hearing your voice and stuff like that; a lot of his visions have you with him in the same home and described as pretty close… which always makes him go red and avoid eye contact when you ask about it in amusement
•♡ Sometimes you’ll just catch him staring at you as he thinks about you crushing the corrupt together and being a double threat power couple for The Batman to deal with as payback for his cruel rejection, which gets Edward overexcited 😅
•♡ He gives you a lot of random compliments and love struck, longing gazes from across the hall, like “You’re really beautiful… like an angel… with the perfect edge to do what has to be done.”
•♡ Eddie’s saying it half to himself and half to you, so when you raise a brow and smile at him like “Um, thanks, Eddie,” he blushes and smiles and looks down, “Y-you’re welcome…”
•♡ At the end of the first week of knowing each other he wants you two to be a couple already and much closer than you’re restricted to be, and J’s getting the escape plans all timed out - and will end up being some weird version of a matchmaker 😏

I know he's a minor character that doesn't really matter but... poor Timothee 🥺 How come Astarion didn't kill him?
Also what did he do to get sentenced to the gallows?
So much like Raphael, I'm going to leave it up to people's imaginations.
What I will say is that no one deserves to be tortured to death by a devil even if they did something awful.
And that Raphael would have likely said whatever made Astarion the most upset or the most likely to do what he wanted. He was prepared to tell Astarion that he was completely innocent, or that he'd like killed children, based off Astarion's responses. He was playing a game.
Timothee didn't deserve the death he got, even if he did do terrible crimes as a human. That's kind of the ultimate point, really, no one deserves that.
Astarion didn't kill him because it's not in the contract that he has to, and he was asserting power in his own right to still make his own decisions. I think as well, he was sticking by his own inner compass, that has prevented him from killing people in the past solely for feeding. He's gone out of his way to avoid that for a year even though he doesn't have to, and he realised he still wants to avoid it.
I definitely think he saw through Raphael's game and kind of had serious disdain for it, like, I think a part of him was like 'do you really think I care what this man has done? I'll feed on him regardless, darling. And you can deal with the disposal like you intended to all along.' He was kind of demonstrating that he wasn't particularly bothered by torture (i.e. Raphael torturing him to death) - which is true, Astarion finds that kind thing of fun and interesting to think about. And he was demonstrating that he also doesn't see the point in giving a human a 'merciful death' while being manipulated at the same time.
I do think one of the reasons Raphael turns on him that same night only a short time later is not just that Raphael's turned on and has just tortured someone to death and Astarion goads him, but also that Astarion shows the most power he's shown at any point during this whole story, and walks away from Raphael in the process, which is the first time we've ever seen him do that.
Astarion made a few points in that chapter with his actions. In both...not genuinely caring to find out what Timothee had done before feeding from him, so not playing into Raphael's game where Raphael was trying to make him feel guilty or vengeful. And also in handing Timothee over to prove he didn't care about Raphael disposing of him with torture and that he wasn't going to kill a human even if that might threaten his future blood supply, or if it might provide a quicker, merciful death than what Raphael would.

Shawn could be considered the “loose-y goose” of the household. It did not matter what time of day it was, he never said no to a good time. Whether that be visiting a local beach on tour or entering a club not even an hour after finishing off a concert, it was unlikely for whoever invited him to be turned down.
In comparison, you were the most square. Shawn and Niall would try disagreeing with this statement in a heartbeat but you knew it to be true. You wore underwear underneath every dress, never stayed up past one in the morning and took your coffee the same way every morning. There was nothing impulsive about any decision made by you. With all of these facts taken to accountability, it is no wonder Shawn’s hand was latching onto yours like a vice in an endeavor to wrench your body from beneath your comforter.
“Y/N, come on! You’ve been holed up in here for weeks entertaining yourself with…The Notebook?” Shawn glances up from the novel’s jacket and into your eyes, narrowing them into an incredulous look.
“What? It’s a crime for reading?”
“It is if the story is one you’ve read a million times.” He argues. “What’s the point of reading it if you already know what happens?”
“That’s the fun of it! No surprises, I know exactly what to expect.” You snuggle back down into your covers, satisfied.
“No, fun is about surprises and never knowing what to expect! Which is exactly why we’re going out, come on.” Shawn attempts to wrangle your body up once again. And once again, he is left unsuccessful.
“No, there is nothing you can say that will convince me to leave the comfort of my—“
“I’ll pay.” The sound of your book thumping closed resounds throughout your bedroom, before your body is shuffling out from beneath the covers of the bed.
“You’ve got yourself a deal.” You proclaim, prior to reaching to your closet to pull a last-minute outfit together.
☆★☆★☆★☆
“See, isn’t this nice?!”  Shawn exclaims from behind you, taking both of your shoulders in your hands and jostling your body to and fro. You could hardly hear him over the thumping bass that makes your knees quake all the way to an empty barstool.
“It’s a little loud!” You reply, cueing Shawn’s eyes to droop. “But nothing I can’t handle.” You add quickly after. The bartender sweeps by to collect yours and Shawn’s orders.
“Just a water for me, thanks.”
“No no no, what she means is two vodka shots.” Shawn corrects, throwing up a piece sign with his fingers in case the bartender didn’t catch the number.
“Shawn,” you grumble whilst crossing your arms.
“Y/N…”
“I said I’d join you for drinks. Water is a drink.”
“So is vodka. Plus, it’s more fun than water. And fun is all about—“
“Surprises.” You finish through clenched teeth. “I recall…” You glance around the club, and can’t help but to notice a pattern of couples scattered throughout the joint. Grinding, kissing, chatting. When you turn your focus back to Shawn, your body stiffens without you meaning to.
“You okay?” Shawn questions. “Because if you’re not feeling well, we can go.” He offers and tosses a thumb over his shoulder.
“No, I’m fine. I just realized Niall isn’t here…feels kinda weird being just the two of us.” You note amidst bringing a hand to rub at the back of your neck.
“Oh, yeah…” he chuckles, now too feeling a sudden jolt of nerves run through him.
“You didn’t…this isn’t…” part of you did not want to speak the thought into existence. But it wouldn’t be totally fat out there for Shawn to bring you here with intentions other than platonic, would it?
“Oh, no! Well, I mean…now that you mention it I wouldn't mind if this were…” he also finds trouble with his words. “But it's not.”
“Its not.” you shake your head in confirmation.
“Great. Glad we’re on the same page.” he clears his throat, before turning this eyes over to the vodka shots being placed on the countertop. He holds one out to you, eyebrows raised as an invitation. When you hesitantly accept, the grin he is harboring stretches wider.
“To having fun!” Shawn’s shot glass clinks against yours, before the two of you are downing the liquid fire.
☆★☆★☆★☆
That’s all you can remember from last night’s events. Maybe you pullled him out to the floor for a dance or two, and one of you suggested ordering another round of drinks. And another. And another. Whoever’s idea it was for the two of you to shag in your bed, though, is unbeknownst to you.
Your body was cold being cloaked in only bedsheets and a distinguishable stench of sex. Shawn laid beside you, bare as you were with an arm behind his head and a satisfied quirk of his lips. One would question if he was even asleep had his eyelids not been shut and the soft breaths leaving him not been heard.
“Oh, what have I done? My best friend. My roommate. That’s what I’ve done.” You whisper to yourself, trying to drown out the vicious drilling of your skull. It seems your whispers were not quiet enough to keep Shawn in his slumber. Seconds later he was stirring and letting out pained noises of his own. His eyes peel open and squint at the daylight flooding into the bedroom and highlighting your skin.
“Y/N, what’re you doing in my room?” He inquires in a raspy voice. A dry chuckle leaves you.
“More like what’re you doing in mine.” His eyes open wider this time once he recognizes the paint on the walls, the overflowing bookshelf and lack of instruments to be attributed to you.
“Holy shit.” He mutters, sitting up and urging the bedsheets to slide down his naked body. “Holy shit!” It comes out in a squeal this time as he clutches the sheets and pulls them tight against his bare torso.
“Indeed. I think we had too much fun last night.” You breathe out.
“So we…you and I had…” Shawn points a finger between the two of you and earns a shrug in return.
“Can you think of any other reason we’re naked and in my bed right now?” You hiss. “Wait, did we use protection?” Your eyes were bugging out of your head with Shawn’s expression mirroring yours. Carefully, you slid out of bed to find his button-up shirt from last night lying rumpled on the floor. Without a second thought, you threw it on you to have some modesty. After all, who knows how much of your naked body Shawn recalls now that he is sober.
After dressing himself in his boxers, he too scours your room for any sign of contraception.
“I found it,” you call victoriously from the joined bathroom and come into Shawn’s viewpoint. You wave the condom wrapper like a flag before scurrying back beneath your bedsheets in a sigh of relief.
“Thank god,” Shawn mutters and takes a seat beside you.
The two of you lay in moments of silence that pass by like hours, Neither of you know what to say. Until finally, Shawn pipes up, “man, your bed really is comfy.”
“Thanks.”
