in persona 5 royal, 2/2 is the final day that akechi and ren are together in maruki's dream world. the confrontation akechi has with ren in leblanc is one of the most angst-laden romantic discussions they have in the game, wherein you can choose to side with akechi (and fight maruki, and thus choose an unknown fate for akechi) or betray akechi (and choose maruki's dream world and the certainty of keeping akechi around).

basically you're given the choice to destroy an illusion world (and risk akechi's life in the bargain of pursuing the truth), or betray him and choose the illusion because you can't bear to endure the uncertainty of what reality has in store for him.

personally this is why i think akechi is not only clearly alive, but was obviously there at the train station in the final cinematic on p5r. the whole point of fighting maruki was that you didn't know what would happen to akechi when you got back to the real world. the game repeatedly stresses this, so imo it is a logical conclusion for the narrative to return these feelings of fear and doubt with a bittersweet yet comforting, albeit subtle, resolution. it's the only narrative payoff that makes sense, though i will concede that its subtlety does allow for people to interpret it how they want to. as someone who studied western and japanese literature in college, writes their own fiction, and continues to study and analyze fiction as a hobby, i personally believe that the only narratively satisfying conclusion is that akechi is alive.

i also especially like the idea that he's alive, and he and ren are free to meet again should their lives allow for it. they entered each other's lives because a god was pulling the strings, and then a man who would be god continued to do the same, and now that both are defeated, both boys are free. their lives are free, their fates are their own, and the possibility of them meeting is not only there, it's also just so... significant, i guess? it's a 'we met once before, so it stands to reason we can meet again' kind of poignant longing.

so basically, 2/2 is the climax (narratively speaking, though there is a lot of great angsty romantic fics for them on this day lol) of p5r. it hinges entirely on ren and akechi's relationship and how you want to honor it, and akeshuake fans celebrate it accordingly.

Im gonna try to be kinda impartial qnd jus. Explain it all as is but first i gotta say who says this shit lmao. So quackity announces his new project and is very passionate about it, he tweets more on his alt(?) About how much it means to him to bring his two languages spanish and english together. And dream on private is like 'wow cool! Guys dont get mad at me when i announce the same thing later tho haha' its just so weird.

But anyways. The usmp wasnt even A Thing. Only written instance of dream makin a multilingual server was in a tweet defending himself from copying quackity. (Altho he allegedly mentions in streams or whatever wanting yo do things w other ppl from other languages? But that shit dont count n im not diggin audio n videos out fuck that).

The actual, official announcement of dream makin a usmp was april 2nd (idk why this says the 3rd but whatever) wherein he announces the 'first multilingual smp' with a list of languages that will be on it such as portugese, spanish, english, russian, etc. And that it has live translation.

The same day, quackity releases a tweet labelling the qsmp as the 'first multilingual smp' and that he is introducing a live translation system to it. Mr beast connects that the usmp and qsmp are similar to which dream responds. Quackity doesnt respond, nor does he acknowledge the usmp at all.

Dream's response is essentially theyre different in that qsmp is spanish and english, he announced his live translator first, they had 'similar good ideas'.

So. This sparked a lot of drama and discussion. Because of the 'first multilingual' bit in that people began discrediting qsmp as it was 'only' english and spanish, and therefore was bilingual and not multilingual. Altho others countered thid by saying quackity himself called it a multilingual server in his streams. Not to mention the idea that the translator was copied but regardless both those things are kinda stupid arguments and just drama inspired by the comparisons.

More notably is that dream team were making fun of the 'first multilingual server' bit after this. Dream was liking some jokes at it as well

Dream also liked some. Vaguely sexual/romantic 'they should just kiss already' art of him and quackity?

Also after this dream started somewhat addressing/replying to quackity more. Quackity didnt respond to any of it.

Most narrowed in on the 'this wouldnt have happened without quackity' and was often interpretted as dream saying quackity HELPED him w it in some way or that there was more collab behind the scenes but we will find that to be false. Because. On april 27th. Dream dropped his magnum opus. Which i will include in one screenshot.

Anyways i seriously encourage reading the full thing here because its. Something. Theres so much. It is literally 1.7k words. A lot of it is repetitive but i will. Try. To summarize it.

Essentially dream is writing that he has been trying to contact quackity for some time now with no response. He has been messaging him about how theyve ended up with similar servers (therefore noting that neither one know of the other). This gets nothing. Dream tries contacting quackity more publically with jokes. Nothing. He starts going through secondary sources by talkin to ppl to message quackity for him (i think some people who dream knows that are on the qsmp. Unsure who) but quackity doesnt say shit. Dream is being absolutely ghosted.

Im also noting this last paragraph in his first tweet where he describes being 'taken back' when quackity announces the qsmp live translator after his usmp announcement, because he 'knew it would cause more drama'.

He says he messages quackity so they can plan how to deal with the 'vitriol' between the teo 'communities' and that the drama can be solved with 'communication'. He is ghosted. He also mentions that he puts the usmp 'on hold' in the 2nd tweet so it all can be dealt with and he can 'extend love and support to quackity'. Most notably he says that its alluded that quackity wouldnt let ppl who were on the usmp couldnt be on the qsmp which dream tries to say makes sense for quackity to do.

Theres apparently a fucking image limit on the tumblr app which ive hit so i am now not using images and speedrunning this shit. But im quoting this one thing exactly as its most important:

Ive seen many people on quackity's 'side' saying that the usmp doesnt even exist yet, dream is the one causing drama, etc. And people on dream's 'side' saying quackity is being horrible and needs address this because its caused dream to be in danger. Most importantly. Quackity didnt address it at all.

But then quackity announced he was going live in an hour. And a lot assumed hed say something. But he didnt. His stream was roughly 15 minutes long and it was entirely quackity announcing that he was introducing brazilian/portugese speaking streamers onto the qsmp.

Anyways. Theres a lot of details but my hand hurts now. A big thing is whether qsmp or usmp was 'first'. Imo theres a lot more pointing towards quackity having had this is store for a longass time, as he had been hinting and a project of his for months and more notably the qsmp is so organized and put together i doubt he couldve had it finished up 'after' dream as dream's nonexistent server was an idea he got after that squidcraft thing in early March i think?

More recently (i think today) i saw that quackity apparently took two emojis off his twitch that were dream roblox characters and i saw people freaking out in r/dwt2 about how quackity could be so petty? But ya. My condolences if youve read all this.

Awase - i like to think he has a strong older sibling or somthn that inspired him to be a hero. His older sibling probably isnt a pro but he wants to make them proud.

Sen - probably something basic like he looked up to pros or he wanted to save people lol

Kamakiri - people with mutation quirks are often seen as scary or villainous and his personality doesn't really help his case but he wants to prove the people that think like that wrong

Kuroiro - he wanted to be cool. His entire personality is just him being a big dork that tries a little too hard to be edgy and cool. So I wouldent put it past him to become a hero on the prospect of wanting to be cool.

Kendo - shes always been the older sister/ protector type of person to everyone she met so becoming a hero simply matched her personality well.

Kodai - she just felt like being a hero would be something she would be good at. Yea she wants to save people and shes looked up to heros before but i dont think she would be trying as hard as she is if she didnt think she would make it far.

Komori - she wanted to be a hero for two reasons. 1. To make money because those cute dresses she buys are hella expensive. 2. To show off, not in like a mean or snarky way but she genuinely thinks her quirk is cool and wants other people to think its cool too <3

Shiozaki - she wants to save people. The world is full of all sorts of evil and she wants to bring peace of mind to the innocent. Its mostly because of her ideals.

Shishida - he gives me pristine rich boy vibes. He was probably told by his father or someone to either be a buisnessman or a pro hero and Shishida picked what he was more interested in lmao

Shoda - he wanted to be helpful. Hes to shy to be in the spotlight all that often but at the same time he wants to save a bunch of people. Thats why his quirk is perfect for him. It lets him help big time pros while staying in his introvert corner

Pony - because it looked fun. Thats it. She thought running around and fighting villains and saving people would be hella fun (and shes been having the time of her life so far at ua)

Tsubaraba - it probably started off as him becoming a pro to meet cute girls or smthn but he ends up actually having fun using his quirk and getting stronger.

Tetsutetsu - either he wants to be a hero because he essentially has the same backstory as kiri (becoming a hero wise i mean) or because a little kid (or elderly) he helped out once said hed be a great hero.

Tokage - she wants people to be happy. She believes in a life full of happiness is the true way people should live and its kinda hard to be happy when you arnt safe ya know.

Manga - its cannon that he became a pro because he loves kids and wants to make all the kids in the world smile. (I think thats also why his hero costume has so may colors)

Honenuki - he wants to travel the world. He became a hero for the funds and because pros already get to go to some other countries for missions. Seeing the world is a dream of his i think

Bondo - for reasoning similar to Kamakiri probably. He knows the world is full of an unfair bias against people with mutation quirks so he wants to bring a good light to people with those types of quirks <3

Monoma - he was bullied a lot as a kid because of his quirk and how it worked so he probably wants to be a hero to prove the people that bullied him wrong.

Reiko - she honestly thinks her quirk is cool and wants to see all the different ways it can be used. And most people cant do that unless they become a hero. But now she slowly wants to see just how strong she is.

5 times dick and zatana fooled around on dick's birthday and 1 time they didn't. What it says. I consider it part of the same continuity as my longer Young Justice WIP.

aditf: jason survives. I came up with this one before the fauximile, and it doesn't follow that. It'll focus on Jason's recovery and asks questions about what his survival would have changed in Batman comics as a whole, going forward.

amnesiac!jason. Circa new-earth, before Damian entered the picture. Jason faced something that broke his psyche and, while it was getting fixed, Bruce took creative licenses. Now Jason lives a "normal" life, starting college, working... but something is clearly WRONG. I swear I came up with this story before Gotham War xD, but there were some eerie parallels that jumpted at me as I read lol.

batwoman / robin: 2.0. AU of Batwoman's third season. Upon the realisation that a lot of what instantly appealed to me about batwoman!Ryan is similar to what appeals to me about robin!Jason, I decided to sit down and write about it. And I took advantage of it to tackle some changes I really didn't like in s3.

caretaker red hood (prev. bloodsharing wip). I read that at least in some comics it's been said that Jason (and Bruce, but that's less relevant) is 0-. I engineered a situation where the (still masked) Red Hood had to give a blood transfusion on the field to Bruce, and to take care of his injuries.

cass & jason: street kids. Cass makes it to Gotham a bit earlier, wandering the city, homeless. Just around the time a catatonic Jason is around, sharing his food with other homeless people. And just in time for her to intervene when people try to take Jason away.

convergence + incorporated: hold my beer (brand new!). Takes the end of the new earth timeline and puts Jason & Bruce on a difference direction, taking inspiration from Convergence: Batman and Robin, the basic premise of Batman Incorporated, and explores how Bruce killing Darkseid could've affected things.

damon and elena: marriage of doom. the quieter horror that I think Elena and Damon's marriage would inevitably be (especially in an universe where Damon put his money where his mouth was re: alienating others, and he killed Jeremy instead of Tyler).

dc vs. vampires, re-imagined. I read the first volume of that story and I was... disappointed. I decided to do my own spin on it: more character focused, less about the JL/saving the world~~ shenanigans. And obviously, Jason lives xD (well. Technically).

desperate housewives/spn crossover. all based on a dream I had where Tom Scavo was brutally killed by some monster and the late-seasons spn team came to infiltrate the suburbs and investigate LOL.

gotham: bruce plots a murder. Future fic set on the Fox show, about how that Bruce might react to Valeska killing Jason. The title sounds tongue-in-cheek but this is very angsty I swear.

gotham war: everything gets worse. Exactly that xD. I took what happened to Jason in GW seriously and poured more angst over it. What if he got hurt in some incurable way that meant he'd need to change his life going forward? What if he couldn't bring himself to save the child in Catwoman #57? What if the Joker did something much worse to "cure" him? And so on and so forth.

rogue green lantern!Jason. Someone on reddit joked about how, if Jason "overcame great fear" during Gotham War, he could get a ring. I don't think he'd join the Corps, but he would also not renounce to such power coming at a time of such vulnerability either.

immortal!Jason. It's basically canon that new earth!Jason came back from things that should have killed him with no explanation. So what if he can resurrect, over and over? This is about each of the Bats finding out about it.

orpheus!jayeddie. Jason finds out that Kid/Red Devil, his only peer from back in the day, got his soul sent to Hell.

jason + joker’s last laugh. Jason finds out about what happened in that arc (Dick beating the Joker to death, Bruce resucitating him). It only makes things worse.

jason’s journals. AU of War Games. Steph survives and is recovering in the Manor. There, she finds some old journals, written by the mysterious second Robin... and she, Tim, and Cass start to unravel the stories they'd been told about Jason vs. what he wrote himself. Just in time for the Red Hood to come into town.

jason’s new rules. Jason takes a victim's death really hard and reevaluates. Set on some amalgam of the main continuity, post-Alfred's death.

journalist!dick. Prompted by a tumblr post discusing how he could've gotten inspired to be an investigative journalist (thanks to Clark & Lois!). It takes things from Nightwing & Batman comics, and from the UTRH animated film, twisting some things around (for example, in this world Batman never took another sidekick after Jason's death, so Cass, Steph, and Tim's stories go differently).

kidnapping wip. Also inspired by a weird dream. Bruce manages to snatch Jason at the end of UTRH, takes him to the Manor to heal, and decides to try a little Stockholm syndrome. I also came up with this one before Gotham War xD

outlaws vs. justice league: simulation. If you haven't read the "Red Hood: Outlaws" webtoon, the premise is that Jason, Artemis, and Bizarro are made the new JL for a provation period... and then it's revealed they'd been put in a simulation without their consent (a simulation where they showed more compassion to some of the "criminals" they meant to hunt than the JL did). Then the webtoon did nothing with that, which really disappointed me. So I ran with it instead.

prison break: robins. Jason is facing the death penalty (for something he 100% did, lbr). Dick can't take it and puts himself in the same prison.

time travel: robin jason. You know all those AUs where robin!Jason suddenly appears on the present, and everyone has to deal with all the angst that brings? I want to do my own take on that. Lots of Jason & Jason bonding.

young justice: FÉNIX. In which I do what I've wanted to for years and write THEE yj!Jason-centric fic that's been so clear in my head. Featuring a lot of Jason & Damian, Jason & Bats reuniting, and tons of secret identity shenanigans.

hi! what do you make of ai art? im conflicted cause i see how its great for disabled people in many ways, but then i look back at the work people put into becoming artists and mastering the craft and feel many things lol i wish i could look at it similarly like i look at producers for example, where you have a vision and tools and you know how to use it well so you dont need the musical training background to be creative, but i cant help but feel like its more complicated with visual art? that theres a whole other side besides having a vision and good understanding of a shortcut tool. im very very torn and also sorry for all that on your succession blog but knowing youre a fantastic artist whos recently been dealing with this sort of impossibility to make art i wonder if you have some insight in this area.

i appreciate u wanting to know my opinion on a Hot Topic such as this! i dunno man i have an aversion to any definition of art of any kind that requires effort or skill as essential features that make the art “real”. i think a lot of what is happening with AI discourse is that people are appropriately appalled by the way capitalism mangles creative output and even what kind of relationships artists can have with their work and with the rest of the world. i do not have a problem with a machine that digests and reconfigures information — a machine is just a machine. if one copied the way i make texture with colored pencil and produced an approximation of a new original work by me, i would be fascinated by what reactions i might have to it. would i feel threatened by it? would i be flattered? what might it open up for me, to see my work broken into a particular machine’s data? this is just a dream, though. i see many artists understandably frightened by what the exploiter class may choose to do with their new toys (and what they are already doing to us with them). it just sucks to see that very plain class antagonism passed over with arguments about the “purity” of human-made art, how it is somehow apparent to any observer when a work is truly endowed with a “soul” (if these arguments sound eerily like fascist aesthetic principles, it’s because they are fascistic).

and then to see people cheering for their own doom with this thing of mr. game of thrones & co suing chatGPT, complete with condescending explanations of how it’s not going to hurt fanfic writers because the problem these multimillionaires have is actually with people monetizing their work, and the true humble Fan would ne’er ask a but penny. do people really not see how this is making the divide between the “artist” and the “common person” greater? it is so goddamn expensive to survive right now, and the wealthy are using fear of technology as a tool to prevent you from making money, and yes, making art at all. only those with enough capital to protect their intellectual property with the force of the law are allowed to express themselves through art. yes, i think it should be well within your rights to bind and sell (for money, yes, money) your game of thrones fanfiction. so many of us are living in poverty right now, bombarded by entertainment but prevented from ever chewing it up or spitting it out. ed roth’s rat fink character had it right. fuck mickey mouse. like, we’re actually back to saying “fuck mickey mouse” being really cool. put him in a blender full of data, have it put him into a beach scene with BBW anime versions of lara croft and princess peach. intellectual property is a historically recent phenomenon. it is a tool to make the rich richer and get you well and squarely fucked. theoretically, yeah, it sounds good to have your work and livelihood honored and protected, but just like they’re trying to replace artists and actors and writers with AI, every single tool becomes a weapon in the hands of the rich. the hell people are worried they need more punishing copyright law to fix is already here. the woman who designed care bears & strawberry shortcake never saw a penny from it. AI art is only a threat in the hands of the corporations that happily do these things in the first place.

anyways. lol. i’m not very technologically minded in my own art practice — i’m not naturally drawn to new technology as a part of my work, and find many of the results i’ve seen from current AI art tech to be kind of aesthetically unpleasant. artwork contains unpleasantness, though. i’m not really interested in arguments over what artwork “should” contain, only what it does. i think the best AI art i’ve seen (ie: the stuff i’ve enjoyed the most) has been from alan resnick:

it is so terrifically disquieting. it leans into what makes AI-generated BBW lara croft kind of difficult to actually jack off to. the overlapping lines of bodies, the nonsense text. but then, if this work has merit, is that because alan resnick is uniquely special, thus proving the point that the technology is only valid in the hands of a “real artist”? can mr. resnick be said to be the “artist” of these images at all, because he trained a program to his own style and input interesting ides? does he deserve lots of money for his work creating iconic adult swim shorts like this house has people in it? well sure

or would this art only have value if somebody put a tremendous amount of labor into it? you know. my mother used to tell me, “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work”. she said she should nail the phrase to my forehead, like martin luther at the church doors. having very recently become disabled & chronically ill, i don’t believe it anymore. i believe we should be able to use technology to make ourselves more free. we should not be so financially insecure that we are threatened by anyone expressing themselves with something we made. the ultra-wealthy are threatened by infringement because they need everybody else to stay poor, and the poor are threatened because they do not want to be poor any longer. it’s got nothing to do with strange scrambled pictures. if i could take pictures of every work of art i’ve ever loved and put it into a machine that mixes it up and turns it into a monster, i would do it just for a bittersweet laugh at it.

Hello, I just wanted to write that I re-read the last chapter again (I can’t stop) Your fanfic is what kept my mental health going (it was a really hard year) over the past year and I’m grateful for that 🥰But I was so immersed in this story, on  at the moment this is the only ff that I read on this fandom, and it should already be so (for more than a year now, it’s incredible)😊I like that the characters are so alive, the feelings are so vivid, and they are so intertwined with depth and important themes and also  with sex (Vegas's pov still haunts me, I'm really looking forward to reading some kind of sexual experience from his point of view, because he's just so bad for it, AND VERY HOT), but we know that he hides his  real emotions 👀I’m looking forward to how events will develop further, you are so talented 💘It’s so incredible that you can write such a beautiful, emotional story for FREE that will find such a response in many, I’ve been here for a year now and I’ll wait as long as you want to  enjoy this work and read how these two live their happy twisted life (and this is just my wish...in my head it’s a canon that they killed Korn, ehhh dreams)😈At the end I want to wish you health and send hugs 🫂 And if possible,  can I have a little spoiler about “Vegas will do something stupid, and Pete will do something even worse” I’m so interested 😭😭😭 But if not, then I’m okay with it and ready to wait further 💜 P.S. oh sure!! well basically its going to revolve around pete finally deciding that he wants to bottom but when he tries to bring that up in his usual halting, beating around the bush kind of way vegas just ends up putting his mouth in it. but like in the most extreme, worst way possible. badly enough that pete makes his own petty, spiteful plan instead and decides to go elsewhere, knowing that it will set vegas off in the worst way but hes angry enough to try and rub that in vegas' face.

except- well it backfires and then the both of them are really into it and they both end up getting exactly what they wanted in the end anyway.

My dad (who's drunk at the moment) sat me and my younger brother for a 45-minute lecture about entering a relationship and stuff. (Is he tryna beat Lucifer to see who can lecture people longer?!?! 😭)

I was cringing the whole time, my face muscles are a bit sore. Especially when he got into the early pregnancy part of the lecture. Like eurgh!! I don't plan on having a baby inside me now or ever!!!

My parents also teased me after I told them about yesterday's events. They said they're happy someone likes me (I was offended by the way they worded it T—T)

They will not let me live this down HELP. But they also reminded me that I should focus on my life goals first before entering into a relationship.

Anyways, I finished Chapter 5 of Mozart's route and passed the Avatar Challenge. I got the premium story (I don't like the skirt that can be purchased with gold so I reluctantly used the 300 diamonds they gave for free)

It was wonderful!! I kept punching my pillow out of pure giddiness.

i’m having a really bad day emotionally. idk if it’s my period hormones or bpd but i’m just in a really sucky mood today. yesterday i recovered from one illness that i had since late jan. i’ve been desperately waiting to feel better and this morning i woke up with another kind of illness. and i’m doing my best to recover from this as well. and something triggered my abandonment response and im just having a really really hard time right now. and i can’t even freely talk about it to anyone or even write about it in my journal. i’m just. so sad right now. i’m not abandoned but i feel that way. i have been feeling abandoned for a while now and a small thing that happened last night really amped it up. then this morning i woke up with a crazy amount of physical pain and fever from said illness and im also severely dehydrated because i have been too upset to drink water so i’ve been forcing myself to drink lots of water all day. and had to take painkillers and sleep the fever off. all by myself. i hate being by myself. but it was worse when i was living with family back in bangladesh. somehow i felt even lonelier and more horrible there. lately i’ve had very little hope about myself and my future. i’m just going through a rough time mentally. so are my loved ones. i’m sobbing as i’m writing about this. this isn’t even bad. like it’s just my mental illness over reacting and my hormones possibly amplifying the negative emotions. but nothing terrible has actually happened it’s just that i wanted something and i can’t have it and even in my dreams, my desires plague me. it all sounds vague but that’s on purpose because i can’t openly talk about it. even when faced with much greater difficulty, i have handled things better but right now even though it’s not actually that bad, i feel exceptionally sad. i did my groceries. made the right decisions. i literally did my very fucking best today. and yet i feel nothing but awful awful awful. even some self hatred and self pity. i’m having a hard time trying to logic myself out of this one. maybe it just needs some time. the problem is that i don’t have all that much time to give. i have a class early tomorrow and it’s one of those classes that i really have to participate in and even though i normally look forward to this class, im dreading it right now. i dont have the energy to learn a whole bunch of things right now. and my friends invited me for drinks after classes, which is great but sucks because i literally have 5$ in my bank account to last me the whole week, and today was just monday. idk how this happened. actually i know exactly how this happened, i paid of my medical bills when i got paid this weekend. that’s why i have nothing left. but it’s a big relief. that i have paid off all my hospital debt. it’s a huge deal. and it’s done. now temporarily i’ll struggle a little but it’ll be okay soon. also it was just 11:11pm and i made a good wish. i’m going to try my best to bring it to fruition. rn im still a bit sick, and im not gonna beat myself up for having a bad couple of days. i know im doing my best. my best is not as good as other people’s but it’s mine. and i am choosing to go easy on myself. i’m feeling a fever coming back. the plan for the rest of the night is to maybe rest till my fever goes away. then watch the movies i downloaded w the library wifi, because guess what, i didn’t have money to get wifi this month. so i barely use my data and i try to download as much as i can at uni and at the library. it has been kind of good for me. to be off the internet mostly. this reminds me i should deactivate my instagram soon. idc if i loose my work flow. or maybe try to find balance between life offline and online. after i’m done resting and my fever subsides, ill boil some eggs and what not. i deserve to eat well. nvm im back to crying in my fetal position. oh god i feel so bad. i feel so bad right now. i can’t do anything about this. and the things that i can fix, i don’t. this is literally my life. crying about things i can’t control and ignoring the things i can control

this is the worst i have felt in 2024 so far. i’m so sad that it’s giving me a headache. i’m so disoriented and confused and tired and sad i don’t wanna do anything. i’m depressed as fuck. why does this happen to me. oh god i let a couple of hours pass, and i’m doing a little bit better. this is so stupid.

Right, Aquarius people are well known for going off the path, lets say, they prefer to make their own rules in life. I think most have serious ego issues because they think they are smarter than anyone else, but that's another topic for another day. I think, from the bottom of my heart, that Getou is the exact opposite definition of the word clever. He, not only demonstrated a lack of self awareness, but a really concerning lack of intelect because what the fuck was his plan? To kill all non sorcerers in this whole world? There is no universe where that would solve any problem ever. First of all, it would be impossible to kill all non sorcerers in a matter of seconds. Which means he would need enough time and resources to do so. Time will generate cursed energy created from the negative feelings the still living non sorcerers feel after finding out their friends, families etc were basically wiped out. Naturally genocide will generate immense cursed energy and that means curses powerful enough to wipe out groups of sorcerers. A natural disaster if you want to call it like this. a lot of things!!! this got very long, LOL.

dan and serena's whole getting to know each other and getting together is very circumstantial. he's been harbouring this crush on her forever, she's his dream girl, but it's simply a thing of him being in the right place at the right time and her giving him a chance that gets them together. the ultimate meet cute!

& like... he's in love with this idea of her and she wants to escape from her world and the expectations that come with being a part of the UES and running into dan's arms makes a lot of sense, when her relationships with both blair and nate, post returning from boarding school, are tenuous. dan and serena are both initially looking for something that the other fulfils, and then they get to know each other better, and only when they let themselves actually get to know each other beyond their ideas of the other (dan realising the date serena wants isn't the one he thinks she wants in 1x05, serena realising the expensive gifts she's giving dan in 1x11 i think? are making him uncomfortable and choosing to get vanessa's help in giving him a cute aesthetic christmas instead...)

so yeah, it's very meeting of two worlds. dan and serena get each other because they're both compassionate people, and they're both lonely, due to their circumstances at the point during which they meet. they're also both elder siblings, which they bond over in 1x05 (and something i wish we'd seen more of them connecting over, because they both cared so much about their younger sibling!)

which is not to say d/n aren't lonely & compassionate. i mean, they ARE, and that'd be a great connection point for them in s4, but. hm. im getting ahead of myself.

dan & nate.... hm. their connection isn't like that. dan is "serena's boyfriend" to nate and nate is "the guy serena slept with" to dan. they don't have any kind of pining before knowing each other, or running to each other because it's easy. the way they fall into each other's lives, in 2x06, is an evolution of actively disliking each other, and then admitting that they don't actually know each other well enough to dislike each other and giving each other a second chance. that's a completely different genre of meet cute than "let's fake date because i don't want to attend blair's party okay you're kind of cute for real."

dan and nate kind of like. become friends first, and as we see in 2x07, dan's never actually had a friend like nate. and nate as well, though we don't see anyone talking about this - nate's friend group seems very linked to his ues social circle and so on, i doubt anyone has chosen to be his friend just because they liked hanging out with him - all his friends are friends with him because he's ~nate archibald. like yeah sure vanessa liked hanging out with him but an ex girlfriend, especially given the bullshit nature of the natessa breakups, is a different ballgame from a friend, sometimes. can come with its own baggage or whatever.

so yeah, dan and nate are.... they're never actually actively looking for romance in each other, and i think they should, because what they both want in a relationship is something they'd so intuitively give each other, and their entire friendship has sexual/romantic undertones already, anyway. (they watch porn together canonically in what, 3x11? 3x09? 3x0something. and nate is watching dan, not watching the porn. wow.)

so in a lot of ways the appeal of the dynamic is very very different. derena is the thing where you're pining for something and you can't believe it actually happened to you, whereas date is more the what you're looking for has been here this whole time kind of thing.

aemond expecting reader, the victim of the situation to spare alys' feelings because her conscience cannot stand being reminded of the fact that she took part in ruining a family???? i know infatuation and love can blind your senses but damn, that is just EVIL. what's next, him agreeing to alys not wanting to be around daella because she would rather prefer to live with him in a bubble of ignorance where the circumstances of them getting together were normal? (though i guess that would work in reader's favor and there's probably no way alys would ever broach the subject with aemond knowing how much it would hurt him). now im even more pissed for reader's sake, she should do a lot more, FUCK being civil 😭 do you maybe have more thoughts on reader's magazine cover shoot of her in the ruined wedding dress? i desperately need her to have at least one instance where in the moment she doesn't think about consequences, one that cannot be explained by it just being a part of her work or anything else but being unmistakably petty (with her maybe looking back at it years later like 'yeah probably shouldn't have done but deep down im glad i did'), i would even be satisfied with a realistic occuring dream of hers or aemond's where she takes her revenge LOL

I like think reader knows how the play the game. She was the lamb to be slaughtered first, now it’s alys turn (rightfully or wrongly). Much her civility, is yeah thats just her personality and how her parents raised her to be. But she also knows when to strike, especially now that the public is actually on her side for the first time since she’s been in Aemond’s orbit.

So let’s say the band does a rolling stone cover/interview. Maybe the journalist is a reader stan LMAO and they comes in swinging. Asks Aemond and alys about the timeline of their relationship and how it seems… suspicious *insert Dwayne the rock Johnson eyebrow raise meme* Alys and Aemond try their best to answer politely (Aemond goes on about how reader is such a great mother… true but a deflection). but yeah it’s not looking good for them 😭. It’s only compounded by the other members making slightly antagonistic comments. Helaena says something about sometimes being in a band, in a family, means dealing with decisions and people you don’t like 👀

Anyway of course this blows up bc they’re a big band and people love drama. Now reader is trying to keep her head down, get her bag. She’s on a shoot for a magazine, maybe a cool one like interview. And a creative director comes up to her and asks if she’d be interested in doing a spread. She declines at first bc she knows they will ask about Aemond and alys. It takes some convincing from tyland and some of her other girlfriends to do it.

The whole shoot is basically about rebirth.. a metamorphosis if you will. And the cover? Her in wedding dress covered in blood. Symbolizing of her essentially killing her old self but also idk if y’all knew this but blood on a wedding dress is considered a bad omen. Basically means regret in the end. The whole spread is about her finding independence away from the group. There’s no explicit “yeah he cheated”. But from the answers she gives, it’s clear something isn’t clean in the buttermilk. The implication is enough plus she gets seen as the victim. Win win. In the end, it’s iconic and she looks great. A lot people applaud her for not completely dragging alys and Aemond when she could. Surprisingly, Aemond has few qualms about the cover but partly bc he knows reader couldve gotten very nasty and hasn’t.
