He teenager with a heart of gold, yet his journey through life has been marked by shadows of loneliness and uncertainty. Despite his innate kindness and compassion, Joshua often finds himself navigating the world with a sense of hesitancy and clumsiness.
He tends to be shy in unfamiliar situations, his steps cautious and his words often tinged with a hint of passive-aggressiveness as a shield against his own insecurities. Joshua's tendency to act before he thinks often leads to moments of forgetfulness and clumsiness, with questions arising either too late or too early in conversations.
Despite these challenges, Joshua possesses an unwavering determination to put his best foot forward, even if it means following someone else's lead. However, this inclination to defer to others sometimes lands him in trouble, as he struggles to assert himself in moments of uncertainty. Nevertheless, Joshua perseveres, his resolve unshaken as he strives to overcome obstacles and find his place in a world that often feels overwhelming and unfamiliar.
In addition, he is an invitation of light with a mere sense of darkness within due to be alone for so long and fear of being shut down for being an orphan. But he has an ability you can say, he can see people’s heart sometime’s before their action.

—Background 🎞️
Tumblr media
Growing up in the real world, he just a newborn when he came. The only thing he has of his bio parents are a blanket with his name 'Joshua C.' that had a tiny little monkey imprinted next to his name. He kept it over the years and never let it go hoping to find his parents one day and understand what happened. Growing up, he was put in the system being raised by families here and there, he found people who cared for him and others who didn't.
He was close to be adopted once by it didn't go how he might've wanted due to a few legal mix-ups that happened. He was fine with it. He stayed with a couple of good friends who's parents were more than happy to have him live with them.
There he would read comic books like marvel & dc, watch a a lot of movies like Peter Pan, Tangled, Real Steel, The Dark Knight, Avengers, Star Wars. He would grow up mixing himself with ways to escape reality by watching shows, hanging out with friends and always trying to be a good person by the end of the day. Despite it being hard, he sometimes stole from stores to survive which caused him to be treated badly for his crimes.
He wasn't the best at Math or Science to a certain extent, but he was rather good with English and History for some reason. He did trouble reading for a while, a teacher told him it’s problem with ADHD that he would have to work on later in life.
He liked art too, always doodling in his notebook. Over the years he did trying searching for his parents and wondered about his name but never got a clear answer. His last name was given by the first ever family that took him called 'Nolan' and it kinda stick with him. He liked it but he always went with the flow of it all, feeling a little numb by the world around him watching everyone pass by as he stayed in the same spot wondering what’s wrong with him.
Did he screw up somehow?
—Despite the goodness he has gotten, being lucky with things. He did have his harsh moments like shaped him into keeping a guard up every once in a while. Poor kid has had his ass handed to him more than once.
Some families that took him one just wanted the money, he tend to get bullied at school for not knowing he was, he was shy so he didn't always stick up for himself so he ended up a little bruised growing up, but he had a mouth on him for sure. He was a kid, so he may act like a baby when he's hurt or something.
Joshua may be shy, kind, a little bitter like a lemon and like to maintain a positive outlook on life but he is strong willing, doesn't like to listen at times and destroy orders if allowed to survive, he will talk back in his own way and have his mind tinkering with other ideas. He has a small drive within him to go with the flow but keep his head up and make sure to things turn out alright.
He was a trooper!

Tumblr media
In the enchanted forest, when the land found out about Amelia’s pregnancy, people were overjoyed and curious. Gifts were brought by friends, polls were made on names, some of their friends went overboard with designs on the nursery and so much more.
The parents were most excited of all. With the plenty of things that happened in their world, they thought children were out of the question but fate stepped in to say otherwise. Plenty of names were made in the polls, adding middle names for good measure.
When it came to gifts, a certain women in purple couldn’t help the urge but to go shopping in the very markets for stuffed animals and clothes of all kind.
Prince Nikolai Charming walks into the nursery one afternoon as his jaw dropped finding stuffed animals of different kinds all wrapped with a bow. A bear, a tiger, a small pig, a rabbit, and plenty of others. For a moment he thought his wife went overboard when a sweet cloud of purple smoke came popping in beside him as the women inside it grinned.
“You love it?” She said picking up one of the stuffed creatures playing with it’s jaw and said, “This one is Eeyore! Isn’t he cute?”
“You spoiling my child, they haven’t even arrived yet.” He replied with a chuckle reaching for a silly ol’ yellow bear, “Aww.”
“But aren’t they darling?”
“They are. Very are more than welcome to stay in this castle.”
“Wonderful! I also have a stuffed owl being brought up soon.”
The lady of the home walked in to see her husband and friend playing with the toys as if they are were children. She smiled asking, “Did you buy the whole market?”
“Hey! When you marry a prince, you understand the life of shopping for glory items.” Said Mal with a grin, “You love it?”
“I do. Cole will have a say about this, thinking you’re doing this to have your name on the poll.”
“Oh please, we would never..I like Liana as a name.”
“I knew it.” Responded her husband with a cheeky grin, looking over at the blanket laying over the crib the the stuffed bear in hand having an idea for later. He smirked to himself.
Charming moved behind his wife, using the paws of the bear to play the drums softly of her belly hoping it would get a kick out of their son or daughter. And to their surprise, a small kick came in return that startled his wife but got a laugh out of him. Liane laughed too.
Charming laughed, “Our kid seems to like the bear. Hmm, how about Winnie..?”
“..Pooh bear..” She added running her fingers across the stuff toy.
That same night as the two parents were crawling into bed, Charming hasn’t let go of that bear since, using it to tap over his wife’s belly as she laughed telling him to stop.
But he didn’t listen as he said, “Shh we are having father and baby playtime.”
“You’re a menace to society.” She repiled in between giggles.
“I know. I was thinking, for names..Joshua?”
“Joshua? I like it—no, I love it. Our little Josh and for a girl..Nadia?”
“Oooh Nadia..how about Robin? Nadia Robin”
“Pretty works for both!”
The two of them thought name list for a moment as their child kicked their mother again. Charming laugh finding it silly how his baby thinks it funny to frighten their mother as she glared at him not finding it so funny.
She spoke up this time holding up the list as she said, “Joshua..Christopher or Colton, as a middle name?”
He thought about it and snort pretending for a moment a scenario, “Joshua Christopher go to your room, young man..yeah I like it.”
“And Colton?”
“Hmm..Colton Robin, come downstairs for dinner we’re serving chicken!”
“Oooh Robin this time?”
As the parents talked issuing out names and combinations, their son or daughter kicked every once in a while. He was like their little monkey inside their mother’s belly.
~~~~
It was a late night, Amara Snow sat in the rocking chair of the nursery sewing together fabric to craft the blanket for their newly announced son.
She hummed a little tune instead of sleeping being careful with the needle saying, “You are gonna love it out here, bubba. You can jump around, learn how to read and write, have picnics outside theses walls, go to balls where you can dance past your bedtime..oh and you can hear your father sing.”
As if on cue, the man of the house walked in carrying designs he had for the blanket hearing the last part of her words.
He joked, “I don’t sing, my son.”
“Yes you do.” She replied noticing the papers in his hand, “What’s that?”
“Drawings I made for the blanket to put right next to his name.”
“Oh let me see.”
He reaches down to sit beside her, holding out the drawings to be made into patches for the blanket. One of a monkey, the other of a bear, a bird, a leaf, a crescent moon and a lovely sun.
The two of them choose the monkey to fit their little man best, deciding to place the right next to Joshua’s name in a sweet stylish handwriting. Cole wanted a settle for a stylish font for the name which was a darling choice.
“Our little monkey.” Nikolai joked resting a hand on her belly as a little punch was given in return causing him to gasp, “I thought you were asleep. Go to sleep!”
It was as if their son refuse to listen and kicked his father’s hand again. It was Snow’s turn to laugh at his reaction hearing that their son would be ground til he’s 2, if he doesn’t go to sleep. Her husband sent her a playful glare asking if she found it funny as she nodded.
“Then again, we aren’t much sleepers either hon.” Amelia added mid laugh.
“Not helping.” He respond trying to hide his smirk but failed.
~~~~
They had their good times and they’re bad with little Joshua despite not being born yet. Times Amelia would feel tired, other moments across during her pregnancy having gotten into some delicate cravings and or not fitting into her old dresses.
It kinda actually kinda cute sometimes, with their friends laughing. Cole would walk into her craving salted caramel cookies in the kitchen stealing one out of her hand taking a large bite as she pouts and glares at him. Charming would admit his one of his favorite moments were the fact that she had theses cravings, which meant he can buy as many treats as he liked. She would sometimes find his stuffing his face with leftovers in the middle of the night instead of resting and he would just give her a witty comeback in return.
Rochelle sometimes find her trying to sew a dress that would actually fit as she giggled wondering, if she’s alright and needed any help as the brunette would only nod.
“Your son is killing me.”
“Don’t talk about my child that way.”
“Joshua is trying to use my body as a punching bag resulting in my sore back and the other times, I’m carving something like pie or pasta.”
“Atta’ boy, he’s going to grow up and have an amazing taste in food like his father.”
Nik would hold back a laugh at his wife’s glare knowing she means well, just tired. Other days she was rather relaxed and chilling like nothing happened, enjoying her time. Other time he would get a glare from her that was rather hilarious to him.
“Are you serious?” She added with a half smile.
He cup her face and smile, “I’m kidding, love. I know you tired but think of this as his way of entertaining you while I’m gone.”
“You’re right, I’m sorry..I’m being a whiny wife to you.”
“It’s not your fault, love. You have every right to be this way.”
“But, I sound like a little bitch..I love our son, I’m just tired..”
“It’s okay. You need to rest.”
“So do you! You have been riding your horse, watching over our friends and practicing you’re fighting with Marlene for weeks now.”
“I’m fine.”
“Nicholas. You need to sleep, I’m worried about you.”
He smiled at how his wife was able to create life and worry about him all the same time despite her tiredness amazed him sometimes. He pressed a kiss to her forehead and then one to her belly promising to draw himself a bath then get some rest later that night after dinner.
~~~~~
The day Joshua was born was an unexpected one. Within their friend group—found family—nothing is ever normal. Despite the circumstances of his birth and having only a few mere moments with him, a promise stayed true. Their son is a trooper no matter what and even if he felt alone in life, he never was due to his parents being there in spirt even if he didn’t know it.
Heck his dad was fighting knights with him in the hallways, holding a sword in one hand and his son perfectly safe in the other. He wiggled a bit didn’t cry, only whimpered softly at the sudden movements. Nik grinned to himself as his gaze fell to his boy.
It also helped that before closing the door to protect their son from danger, Nik reaches for his stuffed bear gently placing it right next to him, as he kissed his forehead. He smiled softly at his son sweet little face, remembering the framed photos of himself as a child at his old home when he just born.
His beautiful boy.
The years when Joshua grew into his teenage-hood, he became more angsty and spiteful than ever before. Yes he was kind, humble enough and honest to everyone he spoke to. But he never felt truly valued or part of his pack. Despite being told time and time again by his father and mother, he was loved. He couldn’t fully comprehend the fact that he was meant to be home, safe and secure with them.
Especially with having an uncle so villainous as Alexander, and his adventures to different parts of the universe.
He decided to have faith in the possibility that he would get there someday and become worthy of the title, a part of the family. Because behind the awkward charm, clumsy tendencies, witty humor and gentle sarcasm held a lost boy from Neverland who was searching for comfort. And he found that comfort in old stuffed bear, Winnie The Pooh, who was there with him since day one of coming into this world as he never let go of him. He will forever be grateful for his father, Nikolai, for placing Pooh in the wardrobe that day, as that bear stayed with since birth.
-> He named Pooh bear, Winnie The Pooh, after the first kind person who treated him fair when he was only five. His kindergarten teacher Winnifred Robinson, as she was known to be a sweetheart towards him and his small set of classmates.
She could see a lot in someone by just the slightest hint of affection in her eyes. It instantly made Joshua smile and want to see the world instead of staying silent, allowing himself to explore creative ideas such as drawing and writing.
Due to spending so much time in her classroom, he would ask him about her thoughts on life and she would respond by saying whatever was on her mind in the most profound positive voice. Her voice was like honey.
Pooh brought support, reassurance and encouragement for him. Sometimes he would cuddle up with Pooh, looking up at the ceiling and just staring down at his chocolate brown buttons as the bear listened to him. It was like Pooh understood him in more ways than one.
Growing up, Pooh became his friend, as the two were going everywhere together. Hell, Joshua would eat his honey salted caramel cookies and play pretend that Pooh’s favorite treat was honey. When he was younger, he lost his silly old bear a couple of time in foster homes, as kids would throw the bear around and try to keep him away in the backyard to be dug up later. Which resulted in him having to wash the stuffed bear later on carefully and then put him on his bed for safety reasons.
-> When he was 14, Pooh ended up with a small cut on his chest and despite all of Joshua’s efforts, his sewing skills weren’t the best. He knew Pooh deserved a chance to look good and dapper in the eyes of his peers. So he found some cherry red fabric from the store across the street and kindly asked a friend, his caregiver at the time, to help him sew a shirt for the stuffed animals.
A few days later, Pooh was given a gift for his efforts, being a little cherry red shirt that covered his chest but left his belly open in the cutest way possible.
Joshua would muttered with a smile, “..silly old bear.”
Tumblr media
As Joshua grew older, he became a bit colder than he expected to be but underneath that toughness, he was just as kind and loving as he used to be.
It just takes time for someone to see it, to listen and appreciate him for who he is. However to make sure he didn’t have his feelings hurt, he kept his guard up and watch his surroundings as much as possible. Which resulted in creating personas and short term alias with people he came across.
Some of alias came and went, but others stayed.
It’s how he met his first crush, Ginny Sullivan and her friends. Joshua was unsure of the girl and her two friends, so he decided to make himself an uneasy target and lie about himself.
He remembered he was rushing out of a store after stealing a small toy train, when he bumped into Ginny as she asked, “Woah, watch where you’re going, dummy.”
“So-sorry.” He said picking up his phone that fell on the ground.
“It’s cool. You’re in a rush?”
“More or less..”
“Where you headed?”
“Home.”
He left her on the streets alone until she crossed paths with the blonde girl again at the same spot. The second time, she stopped him, wanting to invite him out for a quick slice of pizza. He was 14 years old, he has nowhere else to be, no harm done right?
Wrong.
After that afternoon with Ginny, he grew to have a small crush on her. He never admitted it because he wasn’t interested in any relationship or anything, but he did regardless. She realized mid conversation she never asked him about his name, as Joshua blinked and said his name was Tim Robins.
And she surprisingly brought it.
Little did he know, Ginny was just using him to get something from the store across the street from the pizzeria. She wanted a pretty little bracelet from the back of the store. Because two weeks later of seeing each other, after a small date at McDonald’s, Ginny wanted to go to the store to buy some extra lipstick and Joshua shrugged deciding it would be a quick trip. He knew he wanted to sneak into that park on the other side of town later on, and she agreed to his request. Ginny grabbed her lipstick, an extra pair of sunglasses, a keychain and that cute little bracelet.
They were out of the store within a few minutes flat, sometime later the two of them were sitting lazily on the swings at the park, chatting and laughing. The two shared a small connection, with his parents always being busy and not having time for them (again, another lie on Joshua’s part), how they wished they could stop time and get a moment to breathe. Ginny smiled holding up the bracelet with a small chain of a flower on it, talking about how everyone is a flower and they just needed time to bloom.
Joshua felt that piece to his core and leaned in to kiss her cheek, taking Ginny by surprise as she pressed a small kiss to his cheek back.
However the moment was cut short, as two police officers found them, taking both teens to jail to be held overnight. Ginny lied saying it wasn’t her fault, that her “boyfriend wanted to treat her nice” as Joshua scoffed telling the officer the truth about what happened. That he had no idea that she stole the bracelet…
Let’s just say the next morning, Ginny didn’t talk to Joshua again and left the guy alone to take the blame. Once he got back to his foster parents, Joshua got a stern talking to and slapped for his actions, grounding him for a long period of time. Thankfully they didn’t press charges on the boy per say.
He climbed into his bed that day, laying down holding up Pooh and said, “Winnie, never fall for some dumb girl..she will just play you.”
He sighed to himself muttered, “..what am I doing? I barely go to school, don’t even bother to have friends..hell, I talk to my old stuff bear, no offense intended Pooh, I’m pathetic..”
“What does pathetic mean?” Said a tiny voice, who open the door to his bedroom with mousy brown hair, green eyes and wearing a blue dress.
His foster sister Darby, only 7 years old, who entered the room, allowing herself to sit on the bed without his permission to do so. Joshua just sighed and rolled his eyes at her explaining what the word meant as she nodded. She asked if he was in trouble and he just nodded.
“How long?” She asked pushing her bangs out of her face.
“No idea..” He answered with a sigh.
“..wh-so what are you gonna do now?”
“I don’t know. I’m screwed here..and I lied a lot about who I am..”
“Maybe you can find someone to tell you who you are?”
He scoffed, “Yeah right. The papers aren’t easy to find, Darb, I tried.”
“Well um…how about you make up a story?” She asked again digging her fingers into Pooh’s belly, “..like the drawings..”
“Like my drawings? Darb, I can’t just do that.”
“Yes you can! Like when you created those characters in your story like..um..Piglet, Tigger..and-and..”
“And Roo? The ones with Pooh I tell you about?”
She beamed and nodded, “Yes! Yes! Like the one where Pooh has a tea party with his friends and you invite me!”
He chuckled at that remebering that story, “I remember that. Pooh got his head stuck in a hole and his friends had to pull him out afterwards.”
“Yeah! You can do that!”
“..okay. Okay, I’ll bite, what would my name be?”
“I don’t know..”
Eventually he did figure it out. It took him a while, especially after his time with Darby’s parents were up, but he did. Joshua would spend time with his friends and the foster care workers, crafting little details of stories to tell one day in his book. He would sent the little drawings to the girl as she would write back in letter in appreciation for his stories.
He even wrote himself into the story as Carter Robins.
Of course, over the years after turning 15 and meeting his family, being his parents, aunts and uncles. Essentially spending some time Belladonna, finding his faith in people and understanding the truth to his history, he grew into changing the name.
He learned small details about his past experiences and hidden memories he had no idea about. Such as his full name, his skill set, his role in the world as peacekeeper among his friends and challenging his own thoughts on who he was meant to be.
It was nice yet difficult as his thoughts, opinions and feelings ate him away in confusion. He was always comparing himself to everyone else and wondered if he did belong there.
And he did. Because like anytime in Joshua’s life, it took time and patience to get to that point of acceptance in order to appreciate that account in his existence. As during an accidental encounter with Belladonna’s discoveries, two of them were sent back in time to the Enchanted Forest, before they were ever even considered ideas in their parent’s minds.
In order to get back and restore the small damage they done, the pair of friends had to go undercover as royals themselves. Thanks to Cole! Bella was not up for the challenge of disguising herself in some snarky little outfit in the beginning but as time passed she began to accept the plan.
Joshua took the lead during beginning of their trip, entering a Royal Ball (Princess Michelle’s party to where she would meet Rochelle for the first time) with Belladonna using fake names.
He announced them as Princess Leia Swan and used his middle name to refer to himself as Prince Christoper Robin.
— The Eye Are Windows To The Soul 💫
Tumblr media
Joshua's ability to perceive discern the intentions of others through his eyes is indeed a remarkable skill, one that sets him apart and adds depth to his character. His eyes serve as a mirror to the souls of those around him, reflecting their true nature and motivations with uncanny accuracy. Despite this extraordinary ability, Joshua remains humble and compassionate, using his gift for the greater good rather than personal gain.
His keen insight into human nature allows him to navigate complex social dynamics with ease, as he can see beyond surface appearances to uncover the underlying truths. Whether it's detecting deception or sensing genuine sincerity, Joshua's eyes serve as a guide in his interactions with others, offering him a unique perspective on the world.
One look into his eyes and you might as well served yourself a chance at being his friend or foe. It’s a pool of curiosity his eyes carry, that might even make the other wish they looked the opposite direction.
This skill not only enhances Joshua's ability to connect with people on a deeper level but also underscores his innate sense of empathy and understanding. By recognizing the complexities of human behavior, he is able to offer genuine compassion and support to those in need, making him a trusted confidant and ally to many.
In a world where words can often be misleading, Joshua's eyes stand as a beacon of honesty and authenticity, shining light on the darkness and illuminating the path towards truth and understanding.
— Overall Tale 📖
Tumblr media
Joshua never thought himself as wanted, valued or respected enough to be cared for. As his journey from childhood to adolescence is marked by a profound sense of longing and displacement, coupled with moments of resilience and self-discovery.
Despite growing up in various foster homes and experiencing the transient nature of relationships, he finds solace in the companionship of his cherished stuffed bear, Winnie the Pooh. Pooh becomes more than just a toy; he is a constant source of comfort and a silent confidant in Joshua's tumultuous world.
Throughout his teenage years, Joshua grapples with a sense of identity and belonging, often feeling like an outsider looking in. He struggles to reconcile his desire for connection with his fear of rejection, leading him to adopt personas and aliases as a form of self-preservation. Despite his attempts to shield himself from hurt, he remains inherently kind-hearted and compassionate, traits that define his character amidst the chaos of adolescence.
Joshua's journey is also marked by pivotal encounters and moments of self-reflection. His brief but meaningful connection with Ginny Sullivan offers a glimpse of vulnerability and yearning beneath his guarded exterior. However, it also serves as a reminder of the complexities of human relationships and the importance of trust and authenticity.
As he navigates the challenges of adolescence, Joshua discovers the power of storytelling and creativity as a means of self-expression and healing. His alter ego, Christopher Robin, becomes a conduit for his imagination and a way to explore his own identity in a safe and nurturing environment.
Yes it will take time, however he is willing to take a step forward and make himself known to the people around him that he’s here to stay.
Multicultural Children's Book Day Part 2
This year, I was also gifted The Jake Show by Joshua Levy! The book was published by Katherine Tegen Books, an imprint of Harper Collins Publishing (harpercollins.com). Joshua is Jewish Florida native who has written several middle grade books. Jake is a TV-loving kid who is being pulled between two different worlds: The devout "yiddishkeit" of living with his mother and the secular, STEM encouraging of living with his father. Shuffled from school to school and between these two worlds, Jake has mastered the art of masking, but with the guidance of some excellent friends (and a few close-calls along the way), learns that he can't be both the person his mom wants him to be and the person his dad wants him to be at the same time (let alone himself). I really connected with Jake and the need to perform differently for different groups of people. I also remembered the feeling of starting in a new school and feeling like it would only be temporary. While adjusting to the Jewish vocabulary in the beginning was a little difficult for me (Jake did a great job at providing subtitles for things a few chapters in), this book was a great read! Jake's story will resonate with readers trying to parse out who they are/who they want to be. I'm so excited to add this book to the shelves in my library! Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2024 (1/25/24) is in its 11th year! Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen founded this non-profit children’s literacy initiative; they are two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural diverse books and authors on the market while also working to get those books into the hands of young readers and educators.
“The Ladies Waldegrave” by Joshua Reynolds, 1780 (NGS NG2171)
I’ve complained before about two very big pet peeves of mine - corset stuff and Regency women being dressed in 1770s-1780s clothes - but one that may dwarf them because of how frequently it comes up in historical and fantasy fiction is the oppression of embroidery.
That’s probably putting it a bit too strongly. It’s more like ... the annoyance of embroidery. Every character worth reading about knows instinctively that sewing is a) boring, b) difficult, c) mindless, and d) pointless. The author doesn’t have to say anything more than “Belinda threw down her needlework and looked out the window, sighing,” to signal that this is an independent woman whose values align with the modern reader, who’s probably not really understood by her mother or mother figure, and who probably will find an extraordinary man to “match” her rather than settling for someone ordinary. To look at an example from fantasy, GRRM uses embroidery in the very beginning of A Game of Thrones to show that the Stark sister who dislikes it is sympathetic and interesting, while the Stark sister who is competent at it is boring and conventional and obviously not deserving of a PoV (until later books, when her attention gets turned to higher matters); further into the book, of course, the pro-needlework sister proves to be weak-willed and naïve.
Rozsika Parker, in the groundbreaking 1996 work The Subversive Stitch, noted that “embroidery has become indelibly associated with stereotypes of femininity,” which is the core of the issue. "Instead embroidery and a stereotype of femininity have become collapsed into one another, characterised as mindless, decorative and delicate; like the icing on the cake, good to look at, adding taste and status, but devoid of significant content.”
Parker also points out that the stereotype isn’t just one that was invented in the present day by feminists who hated the idea of being forced to do a certain craft. “The association between women and embroidery, craft and femininity, has meant that writers concerned with the status of women have often turned their attention towards this tangled, puzzling relationship. Feminists who have scorned embroidery tend to blame it for whatever constraint on women's lives they are committed to combat. Thus, for example, eighteenth-century critical commentators held embroidery responsible for the ill health which was claimed as evidence of women's natural weakness and inferiority.”
There are two basic problems I have with the trope, beyond the issue of it being incredibly cliché:
First: needlework was not just busywork
A big part of what drives the stereotype is the impression that what women were embroidering was either a sampler:
Tumblr media
sampler embroidered by Jane Wilson, 14, in 1791 (MMA 2010.47)
or a picture:
Tumblr media
unfinished embroidery of David and Abigail, British, 1640s-50s (MMA 64.101.1325)
That is, something meant to hang on the wall for no real purpose.
These are forms of schoolwork, basically. Samplers were made by young girls up to their early teens, and needlework pictures were usually something done while at school or under a governess as a showpiece of what was being learned - not just the stitching itself, but also often watercolors (which could be worked into the design), artistic sensibility, and the literature, history, or art that might be alluded to. And many needlework pictures made in schools were also done as mourning pieces, sometimes blank, for future use, and sometimes to commemorate a recent death in the family. A lot of them are awkward, clearly just done to pass the class, but others are really artwork.
Many schools for middle- and upper-class girls taught the making of these objects (and other “ornamental” subjects) alongside a more rigorous curriculum - geography, Latin, chemistry, etc. At some, sewing was also always accompanied by serious reading and discussion. (And it would often be done while someone read aloud or made conversation later in life, too.)
Once done with their education, women generally didn’t bother with purely decorative work. Some things that fabric could be embroidered for included:
Jackets
Bed coverings and bedcurtains
Collars and undersleeves
Pelerines
Neck handkerchiefs and sleeve ruffles
Screens
Upholstery
Handkerchiefs
Purses, wallets, and reticules
Boxes
Book covers
Plus other articles of clothing like waistcoats, caps, slippers, gown hems, chemises, etc. Women’s magazines of the nineteenth century often gave patterns and alphabets for personal use.
(Not to mention late nineteenth century female artists who worked in embroidery, but that’s something else.)
You could purchase all of these pre-embroidered, but many, many women chose to do it themselves. There are a number of reasons why: maybe they wanted something to do, maybe they felt like they should be doing needlework for moral/gender reasons, maybe they couldn’t afford to buy anything - and maybe they enjoyed it or wanted to give something they made to a person they loved. That firescreen above was embroidered by Marie Antoinette, someone who had any number of other activities to choose from. It’s no different than people today who like to knit their own hats and gloves or bake their own bread, except that it was way more mainstream.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
embroidery patterns from Ackermann’s Repository in 1827 - they could be used on dresses, collars, handkerchiefs, etc.
Second: needlework wasn’t the only “useless” thing women were expected to do
Ignoring the bulk of point one for now and the value of embroidery - I mentioned “ornamental subjects” above. As many people know, young women of the upper and middle classes were expected to be “accomplished” in order to be seen as marriageable. This could include skills like embroidery, drawing, painting, singing, playing the piano (as well as other instruments, like the harp or the mandolin), speaking French (if not also Italian and/or German), as well as broader knowledge and abilities like being well-versed in music, literature, and poetry, dancing and walking gracefully, writing good letters in an elegant hand, and being able to read out loud expressively and smoothly.
This wasn’t a checklist. As the famous discussion in Pride and Prejudice shows, individuals could have different views on what actually made a woman accomplished:
“How I long to see her again! I never met with anybody who delighted me so much. Such a countenance, such manners! And so extremely accomplished for her age! Her performance on the pianoforte is exquisite.”
“It is amazing to me,” said Bingley, “how young ladies can have patience to be so very accomplished as they all are.”
“All young ladies accomplished! My dear Charles, what do you mean?”
“Yes, all of them, I think. They all paint tables, cover screens, and net purses. I scarcely know anyone who cannot do all this, and I am sure I never heard a young lady spoken of for the first time, without being informed that she was very accomplished.”
“Your list of the common extent of accomplishments,” said Darcy, “has too much truth. The word is applied to many a woman who deserves it no otherwise than by netting a purse or covering a screen. But I am very far from agreeing with you in your estimation of ladies in general. I cannot boast of knowing more than half-a-dozen, in the whole range of my acquaintance, that are really accomplished.”
“Nor I, I am sure,” said Miss Bingley.
“Then,” observed Elizabeth, “you must comprehend a great deal in your idea of an accomplished woman.”
“Yes, I do comprehend a great deal in it.”
“Oh! certainly,” cried his faithful assistant, “no one can be really esteemed accomplished who does not greatly surpass what is usually met with. A woman must have a thorough knowledge of music, singing, drawing, dancing, and the modern languages, to deserve the word; and besides all this, she must possess a certain something in her air and manner of walking, the tone of her voice, her address and expressions, or the word will be but half-deserved.”
“All this she must possess,” added Darcy, “and to all this she must yet add something more substantial, in the improvement of her mind by extensive reading.”
Mr. Bingley feels that a woman is accomplished if she has the ability to do a number of different arts and crafts. Miss Bingley feels (or says she feels) that it goes beyond specific skills and into branches of artistic attainment, plus broader personal qualities that could be imparted by well-bred governesses or mothers. And Mr. Darcy, of course, agrees with that but adds an academic angle as well.
But what ties all of these accomplishments together is their lack of value on the labor market. A woman could earn a living with any one accomplishment, if she worked hard enough at it to become a professional, but young ladies weren’t supposed to be professional-level good because they by definition weren’t going to earn a living. All together, they trained a woman for the social and domestic role of a married woman of the upper middle or upper class, or, if she couldn’t get married, a governess or teacher who would share her accomplishments with the next generation.
(To be fair, almost none of the trappings of an upper-middle/upper class male education had anything to do with the kind of career training that college frequently is today, either. Men were educated to know the cultural touchpoints of their class and fit in with their peers.)
There are reasons that an individual person/character might specifically object to embroidery, but it was far from the only “useless” thing that an unconventional heroine would be required to do against her inclination by her conventional mother/grandmother/aunt/chaperone. Embroidery stands out to modern audiences because most of the other accomplishments are now valued as gender-neutral arts and skills.
“The Embroidery Frame”, by Mathilde Weil, ca. 1900 (LOC 98501309)
So, some thoughts for writers of historical fiction (or fantasy that’s supposed to be just like the 19th/18th/17th/etc century):
- If your heroine doesn’t like embroidery, she probably doesn’t like a number of other things she’s expected to do. Don’t pull out embroidery as either more expected or more onerous than them. Does she hate to sit still? I’d imagine she also dislikes drawing and practicing the piano. Would she prefer to do academic subjects? She probably also resents learning French instead of Latin, and music and dancing. Does she hate enforced femininity? Then she’d most likely have a problem with all of the accomplishments.
- If your heroine just and specifically doesn’t like embroidery, try to show in the narrative that that’s not because it’s objectively bad, and only able to be liked by the boring. Have another sympathetic character do it while talking to the heroine. Note that the hero carries a flame-stitched wallet that’s his sister’s work. Emphasize the heroine’s emotional connection to her deceased or absent mother through her affection for clothing or upholstery that her mother embroidered - or through a mourning picture commemorating her. There are all kinds of things you can do to show that it’s a personal preference rather than a stupid craft that doesn’t take talent and skill!
Happy Wife, Happy Life - Harrison Osterfield
Pairing: Harrison Osterfield x Reader
Warnings: fluff, mentions of sex and pregnancy
Word count: 1.4k
A/n: Requested by @just-a-littlebit-of-everything: “A request if thats cool 😁 casual relationship fluff with Harrison. Maybe just domestic bliss at home together? Idk thats vague but let your ideas sore!” I changed it up, but I hope I did your request justice :)
~~~
Harrison enjoyed being an actor. It was a dream of his ever since he was young. It took him a while to branch off and take on different roles, but eventually his career took off, leaving him with plenty of new opportunities. More importantly, he met you. You were a school teacher and Harrison had no idea how he had the pleasure of meeting you, but he did. From the moment Harrison first laid eyes on you he was captivated by your remarkable presence. You had a good heart and you were giving. You eventually gave your heart to Harrison. Then, you got married.
Being married to an actor had its ups and downs. You loved Harrison with every fiber of your being, but it was hard letting him go for a new role. You treasured the moments you spent together, because he usually had to leave soon after.
Harrison had been home for about a month now, and you were ecstatic. He wanted to make time for you and he wanted to spend time with his beautiful wife. And that’s where you are now. You were sound asleep holding onto Harrison. It never mattered where the both of you were, being in each other’s arms felt like your safe place.
It was Sunday and Harrison woke up first due to the sun shining directly into his eyes. He then realized that he had left the blinds open from the day before. Harrison turned his gaze towards the digital clock by your bedside table and it read 7:58 AM. He shuffled around a bit trying to fall asleep. He wasn’t able to leave the bed due to your tight grasp around his middle. His shuffling eventually woke you up. You stirred around and began rubbing your eyes.
“I’m sorry. Did I wake you darling?” Harrison asked as you removed your arms from around him and laid down on your back.
“If it wasn’t you it was probably the sun. It’s so bright,” you said quietly, voice coated with tiredness.
“It was definitely the suns fault.” Harrison chuckled.
“Sure thing, husband.” You giggle. You yawned as you turned back to face him, looking into his crystal blue eyes. Harrison’s eyes always shined bright, especially when the sun was out.
“Your yawn is adorable, wife,” he said as he moved some stray hairs away from your face. “I can’t believe we actually got married.” He still couldn’t believe that you agreed to marry him a little over a year ago.
“Yeah, you’re annoying and you wake me up too early on my day off,” you teased.
Harrison looked back at the clock and said, “Y/n, it’s 8:00 in morning.“
“Too early,” you mumbled. One of the things you disliked about your job was waking up early to make it to the school building on time. Saturdays were when you worked on your lesson plans, so Sundays were your time to relax.
“Wanna go back to sleep, angel?” Harrison asked gently, stroking your hair while you moved closer to his chest. The loud yawn that came from your mouth answered his question, so he pulled you closer and you both drifted off back into slumber.
You both slept for another two hours in each other’s arms. You woke up to the sound of one of your phones ringing. You were first awake and realized it was your phone. You saw that your sister was calling and you picked it up, Harrison now awake.
“Hello?” You answered groggily. You looked over your shoulder to see the time. 10:04 AM.
“Hey Y/n. Do you and Harrison want to come for lunch at around 12:30?” Your sister, Arabella asked. Arabella was your older sister and she was married with two gorgeous daughters. You looked towards your husband and he mouthed a ‘yes’, already hearing the conversation. Harrison loved Arabella’s husband, Joshua and they got along really well.
“We would love too. What should we bring?” You asked.
“I was thinking some of your chocolate chip cookies that the girls love. Do you mind?”
“Not at all. We will see you soon,” you said and your sister said her goodbyes and hung up.
“Let’s get the day started, yeah?” Harrison said as he made his way out of bed, reaching for your hand to pull you up.
You both went to the bathroom to do your business and then proceeded to brush your teeth together, just like you did every morning since Harrison has been home. After that, you washed your face and made your way to your closet to pick out your outfits for the day.
“Can we match?” Harrison asked half-jokingly, half not.
“Absolutely not,” you said as you picked up your favorite dress from the hanger. Harrison picked out shorts and a polo and you both got dressed.
“Let’s go bake some cookies!” Harrison exclaimed after his clothes and shoes were on. He was such a little kid at heart, but you adored him. Harrison picked you up and ran with you to the kitchen. He placed you down and you immediately got to work.
“You need any help?” Harrison offered.
“I don’t want you burning our house down, my darling husband,” you said as you rummaged through the cabinets to get out all of the ingredients you needed.
“Alright, angel,” Harrison said as he went to sit at one of the barstools by the counter so he could look at you while you baked. You prepared the cookie dough fairly quickly and were able to get the cookies in the oven at a good time that you wouldn’t be in a rush. Once you put the tray in the oven, Harrison hopped off of the bar stool and came towards you to give you a hug.
“You’re the best wife I could ever ask for,” Harrison said in appreciation, while holding you close.
“And you’re the best husband,” you replied. Harrison grabbed his phone from his pocket and began to play some music. The two of you swayed around the kitchen together, enjoying each other’s company. A few minutes pass and your oven timer went off, letting you know that the cookies are finished. You let go of Harrison to get the cookies but Harrison steps in front of you, getting them out of the oven for you. He turned off the oven and got the cookies out and even placed them on the cooling rack.
“Thanks, hubby,” you said.
“Anything for my angel,” Harrison said as he leaned in to kiss you. It was short but sweet.
“While the cookies cool, I’m going to put on some makeup. Do you mind putting them in a container when they’re cooled?” You asked Harrison as you made your way out of the kitchen to the hallway.
“Of course, wifey.”
You went to your bathroom to put on some light makeup and did your hair. You then made your back into the kitchen seeing your husband smiling all goofy.
“What are you smiling at?”
“My wife is just so beautiful,” he said as he made his way towards you, and then kissed the top of your head.
“Thank you, H. Are you ready to head out?” You asked as you took a look at the clock.
“Yeah. I’m driving?” He asked as he picked up the container of chocolate chip cookies and handed them to you.
“Sure,” you said with a smile and you were on your way.
The drive to your sister’s house was around 20 minutes. Harrison and you jammed to music and enjoyed the ride together. When you got to your sister’s house, you were engulfed in hugs from your nieces, Anna and Jade.
“Hazzy!” Anna shouted, hugging Harrison’s leg. Harrison picked the 2-year-old up and smothered her with kisses.
Lunch went well. You chatted with your sister about your nieces while Harrison and Joshua talked about sports. The girls really enjoyed your cookies, chocolate all over their faces.
“Jade, you got something on your face, darling,” Harrison said and wiped the chocolate off of the 5-year-old’s face. Jade smiled in appreciation and gave her uncle a big hug.
“When are you and auntie Y/n going to have a baby?” Jade asked and you giggled at the question.
“Hopefully very soon, Jade,” he said. Harrison had been talking about having children for a while, you just didn’t seem ready, but after today you know you are ready.
After lunch, you and Harrison played with your nieces for about an hour and then you decided to go back home.
Once you were home, Harrison decided to ask you the question of the day.
“When are we going to have a baby?” He asked, holding you close.
“Wanna start now?” You asked suggestively.
“Hell yeah!” Harrison exclaimed as he carried you off to the bedroom. Baby Osterfield would definitely be coming soon.

DOMINANT KAI
Pairing | Kai Parker x reader
Warnings | SMUT!!, rough sex, dominant male, oral (female and male reviving), fingering, over-stimulation, multiple orgasms (both)
Word count | 2902
Summary | you’re living with the Parkers because your parents died but we're good friends of Joshua. While you're there you become really close with Josette and you and Kai have lots of sexual tension. (You're 18 and Kai is 19 in this).
A/n | I kind of got carried away... (also character is on the pill so it’s not unprotected sex)
Tumblr media
3 months. I'd been living with the Parkers for 3 months now. I rolled out of bed and wandered downstairs, grabbing a hoodie from the chair in the corner of my room on my way out. As I walked into the kitchen the scent of bacon filled my senses. I always loved Saturday mornings in the Parker house - it was family breakfast day. Pancakes, bacon, fresh juice, coffee. I walked in, greeted by Jo straight away. "Morning, y/n." I smiled back, "Good morning, Jo." I pulled my hoodie over my head and walked over to the stove, grabbing the spatula from her. "I got this, you did it last week. Go enjoy the freedom." I joked. Jo smiled and thanked me, before disappearing upstairs. I flipped the pancakes and clicked on the CD player, putting in a random CD from the cupboard. I danced around a little bit while pouring more batter into the pan before turning my attention to the bacon, flipping it over and rejoicing in the sizzling sound.
I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist, a hot breath on my ear. "Your ass looks so sexy in those little shorts." Kai whispered, but before I got the chance to turn around he'd backed away, heading over to the draw and grabbing some knives and forks. He walked over to the table and laid out the utensils neatly by the plates I had already gotten out. "No good morning? No 'how did you sleep'?" Kai said sarcastically. I was just staring at him. Over the past week he had started doing stuff like that more and more, whispering dirty things in my ear, "accidentally" walking in on my showering, touching my ass when no one was looking. "Bacon's burning." He said, pointing at the pan behind me. I snapped out of my trance and turned around, instantly turning off the heat and putting the bacon onto a plate. I finished off the pancakes and brought the two plates over to the table and set them down in the middle. "Where's Jo?" Kai asked, knowing she was usually the one to be cooking. I grabbed the juice out the fridge and set it on the table with some cups too. "I think she went to shower. I told her I'd cook this week."
Kai reaches forward and grabbed a pancake, drizzling it with syrup. He cut a piece off and popped it in his mouth, practically moaning as he chewed. "I wish you'd cook more often. You're amazing at it." He said, mouth full of his next bite and he hungrily ate the food. I smiled and walked over to sit in my usual set next to him as everyone filled into the kitchen and sat at the table. "Food looks wonderful, y/n. Thank you." Joshua said - with a slight bitter undertone. He didn't like me because Kai liked me. It was odd - how Kai was treated so differently. Me and kai got on well because I was the only one who understood him. I saw what his dad did to him and it broke my heart because Kai was such a sweet guy, really.
Everyone dug in and after a few minutes I felt Kai's hand trail up my thigh, going agonising slow. "So, Josette, how's Sam?" Joshua asked. Sam was Jo's boyfriend and he got on really well with Joshua but not so much with me and Kai. I saw Kai's expression turn sour for a moment at the mention of Sam's name before returning to normal. His hand got higher and higher before brushing against my clothes core. I look at him but his gaze was fixed on his food. I stifled a whimper as he pressed a little harder - focusing on my breakfast. "Oh he's doing great, dad. He's just got a scholarship for some sorts collage nearby." Jo said excitedly. Kai suddenly got up, taking his plate and leaving it in the sink. "Where do you think you're going, Young man?" Joshua said sternly. "My room. I have work to do. I'd hate to bother you guys with the full details of my life." Kai said bitterly, brushing by me as he left. "Meet me in my room when your done." He whispered in my ear. I gulped and kept eating, the table falling under as awkward silence.
I finished my food and cleared the table, heading upstairs. I new everyone was going out but both me and Kai didn't want to so we had opted out earlier in the week. I heard the front door close and walked down the hall to Kai's room and hesitantly knocked on the door. The door opened and Kai stood there with a smile. "Hi." He said happily. I smiled and said hi back quietly. "Come in." He said, stepping out the way and closing the door behind me as I stepped in. I stood in the middle of his room, suddenly aware that I was in tiny pyjama shorts and a tank top. I felt his arms snake around my waist from behind me. He pressed a gentle kiss to my neck before whispering, "I can't stop thinking about you." He kissed my neck again, trailing up and down to my collar bone. "Ever since I heard your pretty little moans the other week-" I gulped, "y-you heard that?" He chuckled lightly. "Of course I did sweetheart. I'm always home. And from the sounds of it you thought you were alone with your boy toy." I sighed as he found my sweet spot, which he began nipping and sucking at until there was a bruise. "It was meaningless. A one night stand. I haven't even spoken to him since." I breathed. Kai smirked against my skin. "You're not a virgin then. Good, otherwise I think I might break you." I gulped at his words, a tingly feeling shooting straight through me. I was excited at the thought.
His hands started to explore as I melted into him. He grabbed my boob in one hand while trailing the other down the my heat, slipping it under the waist band of my shorts. "No panties. Naughty girl." He cooed in my ear. "I can't wait to have you moaning and thrashing beneath me." He breathed in my ear. I shivered, the words going straight to my core. He pressed his hard on into my ass, beginning to rub circles on my clit. I moaned quietly. He slipped his fingers lower, teasing my entrance. "So wet and I've barely touched you, sweetheart." Kai whispered. I moaned out loudly as he pushed two fingers into me, curling them around and pulling them out to the tips slowly - making me feel every inch - before pushing them back in again. His thumb continued to draw circles on my clit, driving me insane and making me a moaning, whimpering mess. "Fuck." I moaned as his pace spread up again. "Kai I'm c-close." He dipped his head down and started kissing my neck again, getting rough with his fingers - trying to push me over the edge. "I know sweetheart." I screamed out as I came, shaking and falling into his arms more. If it weren't for Kai holding me into him, I'd probably be on the floor.
He spun me around and his lips were on mine, his tongue sliding into my mouth and dominating the kiss. His hands gripped my waist while mine were tangled in his hair, trying to pull him as close as possible. “Knees, now.” Kai demanded as we pulled away for air. I sank down to my knees before him, eye-level with his bulge. I looked up at him and he nodded, a sign to continue and take his trousers off. I pulled them down his legs, his boxers following. His length sprang up and hit his stomach and I bit my lip thinking about it inside of me. I wrapped my small hand around it and pumped him a few times before kitten-licking the tip. He groaned and wrapped his fingers in my hair - pulling it into a make-shift ponytail. I took his length into my mouth and began bobbing my head back and forth, keeping eye-contact with Kai the whole time. I took him all the way, hollowing my cheeks and gagging as he hit the back of my throat. He moaned and I placed my hands on his thighs for support. He tugged my head back and held me so I was looking at him. “I think you need that pretty mouth of your fucked. Don’t you, y/n?” I swallowed and nodded, his dick back in my mouth. He held my head still and began thrusting his hips forward, so his cock hit the back of my throat every time. Tears streamed down my face from my gag reflex and Kai held me down on his length so my nose brushed his stomach. He pulled me back so I could breathe and repeated the action a few more times before going back to just fucking my mouth. “Fuck, you look so innocent looking up at me - even with my cock in your mouth.” Kai groaned. He let out a string of curse words as he came, coating my tongue with his seed. I pulled back when he was done, a string of salvia connecting his tip and my lips. It broke when he reached down and grabbed my chin, tilting my head upwards and pushing his thumb into my mouth. He pried my mouth open and smirked. “Good girl, you swallowed it all.” He praised, pushing his index and fore fingers into my mouth, letting my swirl my tongue around them before pulling them out and yanking my to my feet again. “Tired yet?” He asked and I nodded slightly.
"I'm only just warming up." Kai smirked at me. He scooped me up bridal-style and dropped me on his bed, crawling over me and placing a lustful kiss on my lip. He straddled me, his hands sliding over my hips and under my top - pulling it up with them. I sat up slightly so he could pull it over my head before chucking it on the floor. Kai stared at my chest hungrily, whispering, "beautiful." Before delving in and swirling his tongue around my nipple, rolling the other between his thumb and forefinger. I moaned and he smirked against my skin, his hand trailing to my shorts again. He hitched his fingers in the waistband and pulled them down my legs, letting me kick them off and onto the floor. He looked up and made eye contact with me while he kissed down my body to my core. He licked a bold strip through the middle making me moan out before kitten-licking my clit. I brought a hand down to his hair, tugging at his brown locks. He teased me entrance with his fingers again, dipping them in and out, hitting my spot repeatedly. I let out a small scream as he enveloped my clit in his mouth, sucking and nipping it like crazy - tugging it out with his teeth. He used his free arm to pin my stomach to the bed, stopping my back from arching any more. "Fuck, Kai." I was moaning like crazy, screaming his name over and over. "I love it when you scream my name." Kai said against my clit, sending vibrations straight to my core. He pushed in another finger, which meant there were now three pumping in and out of my mercilessly. "Come for me, sweetheart." Kai cooed, the vibrations pushing me over the edge.
He climbed over me again, but not before pulling t-shirt over his head and tossing it somewhere in the room. He pushing his fingers in my mouth for me to clean and moaned as I swirled my tongue around them. He groaned and pumped his length - which was already hard again - a few times before teasing my entrance with it, rubbing it over my clit and down to my slit - pushing in just the tip before pulling out and doing it all over again. My control was shot and I clenched around his tip knowing he’d be sensitive. He gave me one hard thrust and I screamed in pleasure. “Fuck.” He groaned quietly as he picked up a bruising pace, knocking the air out my lungs. He collected my wrists in one hand and held them above my head, musing his other hand to keep himself propped-up above me. I began to struggle against his hand, wanting to tangle my fingers in his hair, rake my nails down his back and biceps. “Keep up the struggle. It’s a real turn on.” Kai smirked down at me, thrusting even faster if that was possible. I was moaning uncontrollably, my face contouring with pleasure. My eyes rolled into the back of my head before I felt Kai grab my chin with his free hand. “Uh, uh princess. Keep those eyes on me.” He all but whispered, his voice dripping with seduction. My moans turned into small screams as he started rubbing my abused nub harshly, keeping in time with his harsh thrust. “Fuck, shit Kai.” I screamed, making him smirk as I screamed his name. “I love it when you scream my name.” Kai moaned, his pace quickening again. He pulled my left nipple into his mouth, swirling his tongue around it and nipping it lightly with his teeth, only adding to the immense pleasure. “Come on gorgeous, come for me.” He said, rubbing my clit faster and pushing me over the edge. I screamed his name as I came, shaking like crazy and my eyes rolled back into my head. “Fuck you’re so hot when you come undone under me.” Kai moaned.
He pulled out after I rode out my high, flipping me over and propping my ass in the air, pushing my cheek into the mattress by wrapping his hand around my throat from behind. He gave me a harsh smack on my ass before pushing in again and picking up to his previous, punishing pace. “Fuck y/n, so wet you’re dripping down your thighs.” Kai moaned. I was moaning and shaking from my previous orgasm, struggling to stay up-right. Kai’s hand rubbed over the expanse of my ass before he slapped it again, keeping doing that every time I thought he’d stopped. “My handprint looks so good on your big ass.” He groaned, his hand reaching back round to my clit again. He drew rough figure of eights on it while I fished the sheets, pleasure overwhelming my body. Kai wrapped his hand around some of my hair, releasing my throat and pulling me up so my back was against his chest. “You like me being rough? Pulling your hair and spanking you? Hm?” He whispered in my ear. I screamed in response, the all-to familiar knot forming in my stomach. “Fuck Kai, I’m g-gonna c-cum.” I moaned out as he started sucking on my neck, nibbling a spit at the base. “Mmmmm, you’re so tight around me sweetheart.” He breathed in my ear, rubbing my clit faster to get me to my climax. “KAI.” I screamed as I came, clenching my walls around him and reaching back and grabbing his thigh for support. “Fuck.” He moaned in my ear as my orgasm triggered his, his cum spilling in me in hot bursts. He pulled out and I collapsed forward, my ass still in the air. I could feel his cum and my juices dripping down the insides of my thighs before Kai scooped it back up and pushed it back into me, starting to thrust his fingers again. “Fuck, Kai.” I moaned as he picked up the pace, adding another finger so there were now three mercilessly pumping his cum back into me. “K-kai, I c-can’t take any-anymore.” He kept going, smacking me ass again. “Yes, you can. Do it for me, gorgeous.” My eyes rolled into the back of my head and I dusted the sheets again, tearing them slightly as my fifth orgasm washed through me and I collapsed onto the bed.
Kai flopped down next to me, licking his fingers off and sighing, satisfied. “We should do that again sometime.” Kai said, winking at me. “Definitely.” I panted, still out of breath. Kai smirked and pulled me into his chest, wrapping an arm around my waist. “I think I broke you after all.” He whispered in my ear. I smiled lazily, “Not quite.” Kai sat up suddenly, walking towards my side of the bed, “Then we need round two in the shower, you coming?” He said, offering me his hand. I looked at it hesitantly, before grabbing it and being pulled to my shaking feet.

City Lights Booksellers’ Pride 2020 Reading List
Tumblr media
This June (and always), we look to our queer elders who came before us. Without them and their courage to riot and demand equality, we wouldn't have the Pride we know today. We especially want to name our Black trans siblings, who to this day face disproportionate discrimination and violence in this system.  To honor our own San Francisco history / herstory / theirstory, here are 54 titles to commemorate the 54 years since the Compton Cafeteria Riots in the Tenderloin. Legacies Opinions 2x13: Forget Me Not...
WARNING: This post may contain spoilers for Legacies 2x13!
Hello, my lovely readers. It’s opinion time!
Does anyone else feel like one thousand things happened in last night’s epi and it might take twenty pages to deal with all of it but I’m going to try to do it in less than five. So, here we go!
Shipp-y time first:
Handon:  This epi. might shock some of us because Hope does the unthinkable. She chooses to save other people; instead of running off to rescue her boyfriend. However, this also means that Landon is finally placed in a situation in which his powers finally activate! Yay! We finally get to see his full-fiery-phoenix-y-self in action. And no can be prouder than Hope. How? Oh, how did we get to this point? Well, it’s a matter of trust. Landon and Hope come to an agreement earlier in the day that neither of them will take risks without the other taking risks, too. And poor Dorian is caught in the middle, being used as an instrument of both Kai’s and The Necromancer’s machinations put an arrow in this bird-boy. It would also help to prevent Hope from being there to coax Alyssa from killing the Saltzmans.
Only problem for the Handon shippers now is the question: Did Hope finally decide to allow Landon to take the training wheels off and become the hero we knew he could be, or did she literally leave him to die because she’s going to move onto a new love interest? Just putting that out there. I hope that’s not what’s happening. But Landon and Handon are too happy. As those of us who watched TVD and TO know from being burned so many times; our happy couples rarely last. It just doesn’t drive the drama-meter. So, hold on, because conflict is coming up.
Sizzie: The second biggest ship of Legacies had a shocking resolution (for now) in last night’s epi. Again, in the world that craves drama we we were given a boulder size portion in last night’s epi. although Sizzie only got a couple minutes of the epi. to be together. In a not-so-shocking twist, Liz feared that Seb might be angry with Ric and come after him for driving a wedge between the lovers. However, it is Seb to the rescue who prevents Ric from being wolf-chow and Seb who becomes the person to anchor the PW, instead of Ric. Liz shows up at the end of the epi, begging Seb to go to the Mali Pit and to try to find his way back to her. If you did not find yourself moved my Thomas Doherty’s performance last night; I believe you need to go to a doctor and have them check for a heart.
Do I think we’ve seen the last of Sebastian? No! if that was it... Blah! Blah on all your houses, Legacies Team! The only people I want back just as bad are Penelope Park, Caroline Forbes (and Klaus Mikaelson... The Necromancer could bring him back... Just saying... )
New ships: Triangle between Kaleb/Aylssa/Jed. And Josie and Jade.
Kaleb/Alyssa/Jed: One of the funniest parts of the last epi. was watching Jed, Kaleb and MG trying to find The Golden Arrow and failing because two of the three males can’t stop over the school’s current “evil temptress.” Even MG’s getting a chuckle given Alyssa’s crush on him. How this triangle will play out, who knows? But it looks like Alyssa has a decision to make when she isn’t too busy causing chaos for the school (specifically #Team Saltzman).
Jasie: Sorry, folks. I’m not jumping on this ship yet. I still want Penelope to storm in the door and to help Jo deal with this heap of evil she’s thrown into herself. but it looks like the writers have some other ideas. And who knows what will come of it given Jo’s trying to pretend she’s okay and is in fact still harboring a heap of Willow Rosenburg-esque evil.
Other than ships, we had Kai masquerading as his father, the last Joshua Parker which led to him having a minor fight scene with Hope and I don’t know if anyone’s going to ship Hope and Kai, but there’s going to be someone out there. For me, seeing Hope and Kai face-off just made me miss Bonnie and Kai facing off and wishing we could coax Kat Graham back with cookies or happy fan-ish-ness. Alas, I believe that ship has sailed...
The Necromancer’s plans are still being slowly unveiled and Rafael finally returned. Possibly as part of The Necro’s plans because Raf was wolf-napped by one of The Necro’s Red Hooded goons. Does this mean that Raf is going to be a sleep solider in The Necro’s army? is Raf dead and come back like Cassie and we won’t find out ‘till later in the season? What the hell is happening here!
Oh, and Darth Jo is part of the The Necro’s plans, too! Oh, no! that it feels like the pot’s going to boil over soon.
On the bright side, we can look forward to all-out-crazy-out-away-and-away-from-our-usual-time-sequence for ep 14. A month from now! A month! Say it isn’t so...
Until mid-March, I bid you all ado!  😊

Pristine, effervescence, ethereal!
pristine: what’s your coffee order?
i very rarely drink anything caffeinated other than tea bc it makes my anxiety really bad so i’m usually more of a chai latte person but i do occasionally indulge in a decaf caramel frappuccino!
effervescence: do you have a favourite poem / poet?
oh god so many... i’ll go with bible study by tony hoagland (link) because it’s one of those pieces where i first read it exactly when i needed it. i also love basically anything by joshua jennifer espinoza, c t salazar, emily dickinson, pat parker, & cheryl marie wade
ethereal: favorite tv show?
this won’t surprise you at all lol but The Get Down, by far. i’ve been getting back into Still Star-Crossed lately and i love that one too

                                       “媽咪, 我哋要去哪裡?”                                   mama, where are we going?
a - “i’m american, actually.”
it’s quite often that people mistake joshua for being foreign by good ol’ fashion assumptions of race. while he was originally born in hong kong, joshua was adopted by an american family when he was four years old.
b - brave
while he would never consider himself to be as such, joshua is the first person to jump in defense of those he cares for. and on top of that, he goes into haunted buildings for a hobby/living so he isn’t exactly easy to spook.
c - “our last name is clark.”
he was adopted at four years old, raised within a large family of other adopted siblings. it was strange, having to learn a new language and take on a whole new life. and that new life began with a new name. huang li jie became joshua clark.
d - dishi
dishi, a beloved stuffed rabbit he brought to boston with him after the adoption was finalized. it is the only keepsake he possesses that was given to him by this birth mother. it has been repaired so often, joshua has lost count how many times his mom stitched him back together. now that he’s on his own, the young man has taken up the repairs on his own. he plans to die with that rabbit by his side.
e - eight
it was around eight years old that the nightmares finally started to fade, a relief to his family as it had been difficult to endear. years of this tiny soul crawling into beds that he could find, seeking comfort from whomever would give it to him. perhaps not every night, but consistent. the wet streets disappeared, the incoherent rabble of cantonese shouting ebbed away. and the tears evaporated upon a face he had begun to forget.
f - “you are my best friend.”
he had always felt on the outs growing up, always being the weird kid that talked too much and made people question if he was normal or not. it took him ages, but in school he found someone to trust, someone who didn’t treat him like a freak. elliot kelly was there for him through his awkward stages up through his present as he embarks on adulthood with a college degree under his belt and a dream of youtube stardom. if there is one person on earth that he would call his most trusted and best friend, it’s him.
g. “ghosts, man! ghosts!”
it had started as a joke, a passing conversation of what it would be like to have it. and then it became a reality when joshua came home one day with a new expensive camera and a passion to take a chance. who cares if it didn’t pan out, it would be fun just to mess around with the idea and maybe have a good time doing it. besides i mean, ghosts, man! ghosts!
h - “hauntings aren’t always about apparitions and cold spots. sometimes it’s just a feeling.”
during his internship at a tech company, the channel began to pick up traction and with the addition of their mutual friend, percy, they had a full-fledge channel. subscribers were pouring in and suddenly they were making money off of their channel and not just messing around with a camera. soon, people were inviting them to their alleged haunted buildings, and suddenly it wasn’t a hobby anymore. he abandoned his internship to put his focus purely in the channel. and they’ve recently hit their first million subscribers.
i - “i love you.”
romance was fleeting, something that joshua had never put too much effort into. especially considering he never thought he was particularly interesting. attractive, sure, but that was only skin deep. martha parker was the first girl that joshua ever said i love you to. and while it may not have lasted, it never faded but simply evolved into an unbreakable bond. sometimes your first love is meant for more than just a memory.
j - “i actually like jogging.”
by the time high schoo hit, joshua had grown into himself somewhat and the overwhelming awkwardness gave way to a more charming awkward. however, instead of throwing himself into multiple relationships in his teenage years, he spent most of it in the gym with his peers working out. he enjoys fitness and is more often in motion than not. he is the type to suggest going on a hike before going to the movies.
k - kin
family? friends? his entire family is based on you make your family; it isn’t always blood. and it’s with this example that joshua has lived his entire life as making his own family. his friendships are an extension of that body, of that ever evolving nervous system. it is why he only keeps positive influences in his life.
l - last minute snack run
there is no shortage of junk in the kelly/clark household. so much so in fact that he will drop everything if he has a craving something unhealthy for him. he may be a fitness nerd, but you better believe he needs his cheetos or else there will be hell to pay.
m - maya
a twitch goddess, a crush, a friendship. this girl is someone that joshua would likely drop everything for if she ever asked it of him. he may not know it yet but she has ‘love of my life’ radiating off her in waves, in the way she smiles and the way she moves. he may be a fool, but he is determined to not screw it up. maya is a once in a lifetime type of person. even an idiot can see that.
n - “you’re damn right i’m into that nerd shit!”
growing up joshua often struggled to bond with his peers as he tended to not enjoy the same things as the other kids his age. up until middle school, joshua tended to avoid sports (until he realized he was good at them), and often preferred the company of books and film. that extended to comic books as well, and sometimes got mocked for it while growing up. and even now, as he would consider himself confident in who he is, he will be the first to defend this so called ‘nerd shit’.
o - “ooooooooooh!”
it’s not to say that he’s an idiot, but he can sometimes come off like one because he struggles to pay attention to things. especially on the first time around. often, you might have to repeat yourself before he truly comprehends what you said. he’ll get there, give him a minute.
p - “which parents do you want me to talk about cuz--it’s not that easy.”
joshua is adopted, a member of the extensive clark clan. while he appreciates his family more than he can say; he had a very stable childhood. however, his biological family is something that has been a bit of a mystery for him. his memories are hazy if not filled with faceless people speaking in unintelligible mumbles. he was too young to remember. but joshua is tenacious, and he isn’t willing to let it fade with time.
q - “oh do you remember this quote from--”
this kid is constantly quoting things from books, tv shows, and movies. in fact, it could be argued that the majority of his personality was formed from the media. odds are, he is the one in the group who is snapping his fingers and flailing quite ostentatiously trying to remember the quote from something he watched the other day that is relevant to the conversation. or so he thinks.
r - reason to smile
his happy place is the editing room, listening to music while they attempt to get the best content out of their footage as possible. this is usually all three of them collaborating together so everyone has equal say in what they put out there for everyone to watch. they are a team, and it’s one of the best things in the world for joshua to be a part of it. it’s his favorite thing in the entire world.
s - shelter
never one to waste free time, with what little he has joshua gives it to the local no-kill animal shelter where he spents a few hours a week taking care of the animals and helping them get adopted to good homes. he often begs his roommate if he can bring animals home often met with a negative response. even so, he is the one who is out in the yard playing with the dogs to make sure they get socialized.
t - trust
he may come off fun-loving and without a care in the world, but trust is something that isn’t easily won with him considering his circumstances. if you cross him or someone who he cares for deeply, it is likely you will never possess his earnest trust. it’s just the luck of the draw.
u - "what are you doing with my underwear?”
please, if you think this kid is basic, you haven’t been paying attention to him at all. he may have basics in his drawers, but this kid is the type to go into a store and see spongebob boxer briefs and immediately buy them because its god damn spongebob, guys! he is whimsical with his clothes most of the time, so his underwear can’t be boring either.
v - “we’re on vacay!”
joshua is planning a trip to hong kong to take over the holidays as he continues on his journey to find his birth mother. he’s unaware of the journey is going to take him right to his backyard, but for the time being, he is enjoying the planning portion of the trip. after all, he is learning about where he came from and also going away on location. what could go wrong...
w - “you are the fuckin’ worst!”
he is no saint, and he has his fair share of bad habits. like leaving his dirty clothes all over the place, leaving wet towels on the bathroom floor, and leaving empty energy drink cans all over the place. he is a god damn mess and i feel terrible for people who have to live with him. sorry, elliot.
x - “i still think xena is hot!”
strong women are kind of a thing for joshua, as he has a tendency to crave structure, a thing he has been severely lacking since moving out on his own. women who know what they want and aren’t afraid to admit it are his kink. if you boss him around he will listen like the dutiful young man he is.
y - “youtube is paying us, bro!”
it seems new subscribers come in waves as each day passes and because of this, joshua is spending a lot of his time collaborating with other content providers, local historians, and anyone who will listen to him ramble in order to provide the best content to their audience. he is hardworking to the end, especially considering they are making that youtube cash!
z - “zombies terrify the shit out of me, please don’t--”
that’s it. zombies freak him out. please don’t dress up as one and spook him, he will literally squeal like a girl and throw something at your face. proceed with caution.
! - “oh shit!”
nothing elaborate to put here, the boy just has a terrible mouth and tends to curse more often than not. someone get soap for this child’s mouth, it’s dirty.
, - “listen,”
he often has to explain how much of a trash can he is. trust me, he is well aware of his own shortcomings.
? - “huh?”
sorry, you are going to have to repeat yourself a lot, but that’s okay, because you never know if he’s playing a prank on you or if he genuinely wasn’t paying attention. can he be trusted? that’s a fair question.
: - “you ARE the father 2: electric boogaloo”
joshua will be meeting his birth father, a rather cataclysmic ending to his birth mother journey that will require a lot of explanations, shouting matches, and trying to come to terms with the fact that sometimes, young people just make mistakes and there is no real rhyme or reason as to why anything happens. parents are people too, kids. don’t forget that.

Remi Aboderin: Anthony Joshua not Nigeria’s best
New Post has been published on https://vip.anthonyjoshua.club/remi-aboderin-anthony-joshua-not-nigerias-best/
Remi Aboderin: Anthony Joshua not Nigeria’s best
Tumblr media
Boxing promoter turned administrator Remi Aboderin sat down with TAIWO ALIMI and ADEYINKA AKINTUNDE to talk about how his background stimulated his passion for fisticuffs, Anthony Joshua, present and future of Nigerian boxing.
His passion for boxing was fuelled by his father from childhood. He would sit at his feet while watching Muhammad Ali and other legends in the 70s. Watching and studying, he developed an undying love for the sweet science kindled by Ali vs Foreman 1974 Rumble in the Jungle, and Thrilla in Manila Ali vs Joe Frazier (1975) and many others that drew the world’s attention to make boxing the most watched sports in that era.
Oluwaremilekun Aboderin better known as Remi Aboderin a.k.a ‘Don King of Nigeria’ got hooked and even in adulthood could not wriggle out of it. He returned soon after he had graduated and worked briefly as a journalisat to promoting boxers and boxing shows. He would not let go even when boxing took a plunge no thanks to the all-embracing attention given football by those in sport authority. He kept on digging and today, Aboderin, sits atop the administrative office of Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) as the general secretary and the West African Boxing Union, (WABU) as president.
“My love for boxing started from childhood. Then, boxing was the number sport in the world. Your parent must not find you playing football, but when you come home crying beaten by your age-mate from outside, your parents would ask you to go back. They want you to be tough.
“We had NTA Sports then on Saturdays, and what they showed most was boxing. My father was a lover of boxing and he always invited me to watch with him. I was also opportune to watch the “Rumble in the Jungle” between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. That was where the love began.”
In Nigeria, he was also drawn to boxing through the exploit of Hogan Kid Bassey, Obisia Nwankpa, Dele Jonathan, Joe ‘Atomic Bomb’ Lasisi that made the sport glorious in the 70s and 80s.
“Though, there was Emmanuel Okala and many great footballers then, boxing no doubt, was the king of sports.
“Boxing was the sport our former President, Nnamdi Azikiwe was involved in. It is a show of your manliness that got the ladies flocking around you.”
Though, he did not get to wear gloves, he built up a deportment and carriage akin to a boxer. “My friends know I don’t talk much, but if it is fight, let us fight. I don’t look for trouble, but when trouble breaks out, I stay with it.

“I grew up in tough environments; Ajegunle and Agege and so boxing was the in-thing for us.”
At a point, he drifted away from boxing, but the bond between them proved too strong.
“Whatever God has destined for you, you would fulfil it. I was trained as a journalist and I worked in newspaper houses. In 1999 I saw a boxing show on TV. It was shabbily arranged, and I thought I could do better that that. I thought I could go into boxing promotion. I asked around, and I was told that there was the NBB of C, in charge of boxing. I was taken to late Sir Walter Batowei, a journalist with FRCN and general secretary of NBB of C. He later became vice president under the presidency of Chief Godwin Kanu.  I got registered in 1999, and my first pro motion was in 2000.”
Like a true fighter, Aboderin did not let the knockdown occasioned by lull in boxing dampen his courage.  “If you are into something, you will keep forging ahead whether good or bad. I will not say I was encouraged or discouraged, I just forge ahead. A boxer will always tell you that he will defeat somebody, even if he is not sure of victory. It is in the blood.
“Boxing is in so many facets. It is about a promoter having one or two boxers that are good and you want to promote them. If you have a show and your boxer is good and he wins, even if you do not get money there, your boxer can be invited from outside the country to box. You just have to keep promoting your boxers. A promoter must have boxers on his bill. The most important thing is putting your boxer in the forefront and that is what I did. I just keep pushing.”
An incurable optimist- the promoter turned administrator- is certain Nigeria is blessed with natural and good boxers. He boldly expressed that good days are back for Nigerian boxing.  “Right now, GOtv is doing wonderful things for boxing in Nigeria.”
Aboderin revealed that GOtv has been able to expose and change the lives of established and many up and coming boxers. “Aside from recognized boxers, GOtv has done about five GOtv boxing series every year. About 80 boxers have been discovered, and 25 potential champions picked.

“Most of the boxers making waves are GOtv products. It has helped to discover them but they also need regular bouts and endorsements to feed their families.
“I can say aloud that boxing is back, thanks to GOtv and Flykite. If not for COVID-19, we would have had four boxing shows between April and July. If in a year, we can have about four to five shows staged by other promoters to add to GOtv’s five in a year that would be enough. For your information, two international fights organized by GOtv would have happened but COVID-19 pandemic disrupting it.”
He said the cable network provider has also lifted the social and economic status of boxers.
“Taiwo ‘Esepo’ Agbaje recently talked about how he bought some okadas (commercial motorcycles) and tricycles (keke) after winning N1million to N2million at ‘GOtv Boxing Night. Someone that could hardly feed himself now has a business bringing steady income to help himself and his family. This is due to the intervention of GOtv.
“If the tempo had continued, he would have had some fights, maybe commonwealth title, and make good money for himself. His coaches and manager would make someth8ing too.”
Aboderin, who is also big on entertainment, said all hands must be on deck to create more good boxers while hinting that boxing is capable of taking crime out of the youths and creating more jobs.
“Beyond money, the right policy must be put in place. This is what will drive sponsorship and money. What do I mean by enabling environment? Nigeria government need to make policy statement that will make corporate bodies know that they should invest in Nigerian sports.”
“It is an error to say that the best of our boxers are abroad, they are here in Nigeria and if they get conducive environment they can be greater.”

He was bold to add that Nigeria has better heavyweight boxers than world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (AJ).
“We see a lot of Nigerian boxers doing well abroad. The name on everybody’s lips today is Anthony Joshua. What happens to our boxers here? Is it that they cannot make it unless they go out?
“It is unfortunate that we keep talking about AJ. We have better boxers right here in Nigeria. We have a boxer that was actually taken out after the Olympics; Efe Ajagba. He is one of the best heavyweight fighters in the industry now and he was trained here. He has done 13 professional fights so far and has won nine by TKO.
“Tyson Fury, AJ’s next opponent is already talking about Ajagba. We have the materials, what we do not have is the enabling environment. For Fury to call Ajagba out means that he is good.
“How do we get endorsements when companies are not endorsing regular fights? A company in Nigeria went to London to endorse AJ, who never for once said he wants to represent Nigeria. There is the claim that he came to Nigeria and he was driven back, that never happened. He is a British-born Nigerian boxer.”
He also frowned at the number of boxing sanctioning bodies explaining  that they retard progress. “Why boxing also left the number one sports position in the world, is because of the too many sanctioning bodies. In football, we have FIFA alone coming with the sledge hammer, but in boxing, we have the WBC, WBF, WBA, WBO, IBF and others.
“But thank God for what is happening now because boxing is the second most loved sport in the world. Four major bodies have been picked now to sanction boxing. That is WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO. If this has been done years back, boxing would have been at par with football.”
Aboderin comes from one of the largest families in Ibadan, and late Chief Olu Aboderin, owner of Punch Newspapers is uncle to his father. He is a Chelsea fan and enjoys watching football too.

ON ANTHONY JOSHUA
AJ is not a Nigerian boxer. It is unfortunate that our leaders go after finished product, and neglect raw material. The westerners see the raw talent and they come here to pick them. Samuel Peters was in Nigeria he went to the Olympics and he was discovered and picked, he went to America and became a world beater.
IF NOT BOXING ADMINISTRATOR…
I would have been a journalist or maybe a policeman. I have read a lot of crime books and wanted to be a crime buster. Most of my guys in the Police force now are in top positions; maybe I would have become a Police Commissioner by now.
ALI OR TYSON
I would have said Tyson because he comes with all the power of George Foreman, but Ali will any day go the distance as much as 15 rounds with Tyson. I love Tyson, but Ali was the greatest. I go for Ali
JOSHUA VS FURY VS WILDER
Boxing these days is more of entertainment. It is not as brutal as it used to be. I don’t see AJ not advancing well. Anytime from now, I see him fighting Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder. I prefer he fights Wilder, who has not fought man big names. AJ has fought Joseph Parker, Wladimir Klitschko, and other big names. If AJ meets Deontey, I believe that he will win.
ON NBB OF C
If there is a rift between the promoter and boxer, they come to us. We look at the contract signed by a boxer and if the boxer tries to play a fast one on the promoter by going to another person that can pay more, we ask him to honour the signed contract, and if he refuses, he can be sanctioned. That is the role we play. We safeguard the promoters’ money for the boxer.
BOXING & JOB CREATION
Boxing can create jobs for over four million people in Nigeria. In Lagos alone, on my list I have about 200 boxers, and no matter how bad, 40 will be good boxers. In Ibadan, they will be up to 200. A boxer needs at least four people for a bout; coaches, physician and manager.
TO BE A GOOD BOXER
It’s easy to be a boxer, and in actual fact anybody can be a boxer all you need is the interest, and as long as you are medically fit you will come with your coach to us (NBB of C). You will be issued a license you will then put on gloves get into the ring and either gets beaten or you beat your opponent, either win or lose you will be referred to as a “Champ” all boxers are champs.
But to be a good amateur boxer you must train hard and win most of your fights and thus get an opportunity to represent the country at international meets then you are referred to as a good amateur boxer. But to be a good pro boxer you must train very hard, keep your body in tremendous physical condition, spend majority of your youths life in the boxing gym by cutting out unnecessary excesses, as explained by Muhammad Ali, the actual boxing is done in the gym (training), what people pay to come and watch on bouts days is the entertainment aspect of the game.
HOBBIES & PHILOSOPHY
I just finished reading Segun Adeniyi’s book on late Nigeria president, Umaru Yar’Adua. When I was younger I used to finish a book in one and a half days. I read all the Hardly Chase, Nick Carter and Harold Robbins series. I believe that everything in life has been ordained by God. I believe so much in God. God is in charge of every one’s life.
FASHION & STYLE
I love to dress simply. When I am travelling, I wear knickers, polo shirt and slippers, due to the stress of checking in. However on big occasions such as boxing convention abroad I will wear my agbada (Yoruba flowing robe), and the westerners usually notice me and scramble to take pictures with me. Aside from that, I go with whatever is trending.
