zuko and aang theory??

i've always had the thought that there was a deeper reason zuko so desperately needed to find the avatar. we all know zuko has a deeper connection to aang than was led on. his great grandfather sozin being the reason for the 100 year war/air nomad genocide, and his great grandfather on his moms side being avatar roku. of course he needed to find the avatar to restore his honor but what if there was a subconscious NEED to find him, subconsciously knowing he has a connection to the avatars soul. knowing he is a descendant of that soul. zuko's "daddy issues" caused him to search high and low for a paternal figure. he did find that in iroh, but searching for aang gave him a purpose - something to focus on while in the midst of his trauma. when they eventually became friends, aang ended up being like a brother to him. they were so close and he trusted aang more than anyone in the gaang. i think aang reminds zuko of the good he has in him, the good that he gets from his mom's side ;(

it would make sense that he'd feel compelled to look for his great grandfather's forever earthbound soul until he finds it. i just love their friendship :')

so I see people talk occasionally about how the tristamp team took that one panel of trimax Knives playing piano in his gimp suit and ran with it, and while yes they absolutely expanded on it Knives playing music for tristamp, you gotta remember Knives being a music lover was also present in other parts trimax! Like he got genuinely impressed when he finds a group of people who can fucking. murder with music (Midvalley the Hornfreak). and lets not forget he literally named Legato after the music notation of the same name, and it's likely the 'blue' in Bluesummers is a reference to blues music anyways tldr; knives has always been a band kid! :)

is this a hot take? the ATLA fandom hyper focuses on zuko and his potential love interests so much that it discredits his character development, his journey of realizing his destiny, his struggles with his mental health and his struggles with non romantic relationships.

i understand he's a fan favorite, and as someone who was a little kid when the show came out i had such a crush on him. i love zuko as much as the next gal but i don't see him for this edgy emo boy with pretty hair and a sick scar appeal. he's an extremely traumatized and mentally unwell child. he's a physically and emotionally wounded person who's made a lot of mistakes while trying to do the right thing, and unlearning everything he's ever known so he can change.

resorting zuko to just being this heartthrob is really dehumanizing. the relationships that are so much more important than any ship are his relationships with his family, his relationship with aang and his relationship with himself. he is farrr too romanticized and glorified by the fandom. the favoritism towards him actually tarnishes all of his progress rather than highlighting it.

once again murph proves that he deserves all of the awards for encounter design. not only having combat in both the helm and the material plane, but having their enemies switch between those planes as well? constantly shook up the landscape and forced the PCs to reevaluate strategy while also giving everyone a crack at ultrus. truly genius dynamic encounter design
