I think this has been in a good number of fanworks already so I'm not exactly covering new ground here, but the idea of Lucifer helping Alastor with his angelic wound on behalf of Charlie never gets old to me.

Alastor continues to pretend that nothing is wrong until he just can't pretend anymore - is it exhaustion? Is it the fact that his injury is so obvious to literally everyone else that it'd be pointless to keep it up? You decide, but either way, he's forced into an intervention.

And then when Lucifer offers healing — because we can't have you dying on us, you idiot, he says, or really anything of the sort — Alastor refuses.

No! Certainly not. No, thank you.

What do you mean? You don't want healing? Do you want to die again? Because you're going to.

Don't mock me. Why are you here? What do you want from me?

Then Lucifer has to convince Alastor that there is, in fact, no catch. It's not a concession Lucifer seeks to hold over Alastor's head forever (not that Luci isn't free to do a bit of gloating); not a way for Lucifer to harm him under the guise of aid; not a favour for a blank cheque to be cashed in at a later date.

Finally, with no small amount of frustration or needling or "will you please just let me do this holy hell this is taking forever" on Lucifer's part, Alastor agrees.

And maybe when it's over, maybe he hates Lucifer just a little bit less than he did. Maybe Alastor trusts just a tiny bit more.

Seriously, you could write this a hundred times and I would probably read all of that. I'm a sucker for the setup, what can I say?

Keys and Cats

Oh boi! Been doing a little more digital art (seriously, it's addicting). Been learning a lot. Linework is still atrocious but at least I can mask it with shitty backgrounds now! 😂

This is going to be a wombo combo of art and headcannon. So here goes:

I got inspired by this little story here https://archiveofourown.org/works/54281104 by @soot-and-salt

My inspiration led me to think about how that could be a concept to be expanded upon.

So we all know Keekee is sort-of the spirit of the Hazbin Hotel. She is at the same time master key, house pet and she can go(or fly) where she wants and open any door.

Now, I think it would probably be a good idea for normal hotel operations for the hotel manager and the facility manager to also have their own keys. We see throughout the show that Vaggie has to constantly borrow Keekee to do her job. Not very efficient.

That's where other keys and the Cursed Cat Alastor character come in

Personal headcannon ties into how Cursed Cat Alastor could possibly make an appearance in the show and this is how:

-Magical Master Key blanks are generic and literally blank until given to a person by Lucifer

-The keys get infused by the souls of their owners to make them sentient. So the creatures that spring from this are somewhat a reflection of their owners. Not perfectly, of course and the owners don't pour their soul into the object. These keys are NOT horcruxes. It's more a guideline/baseline of what type of creature springs into being.

-The cats that turn into keys and can open every door have their own personalities and are only somewhat aligned to the person that lend their soul to its creation. So basically like Keekee only with a way more nerdy explanation. It just kinda made sense to me that way because of what we see from Charlie and Keekee during the show. I might be too over enthusiastic about this, though! 😂

Enter:

Loom and Ariel.

Since we can't keep calling the character Cursed Cat Alastor, I figured I give him a proper name in my headcannon. So he is called Loom. Like a looming shadow. He has the ability to shadow teleport, similar to Alastor only for Loom the teleport is instantaneous inside the Hotel. Unlike the two girls, he can't fly but he can make himself loooong like a fluffy cat snake (after all, you get longer bellyrubs if your belly is longer! It makes perfect sense! LOL).

He likes bellyrubs and wheedling treats ouf of Lucifer. Because Lucifer has a weakspot for small fluffy animals he always caves. Loom is a chubby round loaf cat with stubby legs. So basically the inverse of Alastor. Which is hilarious. Alastor himself loves his cat because it's just as much an agent of chaos as himself. Loom makes Theremin noises in addition to purring. So when Loom purrs Alastor can add his own background noise /white/grey into the mix to make an entire room sleepy and relaxed.

Ariel was a fun name to pick out because it means 'Lion of God' and that was oddly funny and fitting for a literal winged angel cat.

She is a tall elegant cat with a big fluffy tail. I based her loosely around Duchess from Aristocats. Her highlights and colorpallette are based on Vaggie, of course. I did change the wing color to those of Adams wings because it looked better in contrast to keeping the Vaggie/Exorcist pallette for the wings.

I have a weakspot for kittehs like that. Elegant and cute go very well together. And long fluffy tail is always nice! Like the other two cats Ariel can teleport inside the Hotel and she can fly in general like Keekee, though she has to use her wings to do it. So she doesn't exactly 'float' like we see Keekee do in the show. Ariel has an interesting attachment to Husk. She likes to perch somewhere in the proximity of the bartop (although not directly on it) and watch him work. Although Husk is not a catperson he did come to value her presence over time and sometimes goes over to pet her when nobody is looking.

She likes her ears scratched (especially the folded ear) and Husk is more than happy to oblige. Vaggie is of course overjoyed with her cat. Ariel is best friends with Keekee but the two girls accept Loom in their circle. When they get annoyed by his antics, they just fly out of reach.

Ok this turned out way longer and way weirder than I though. LOL

hannibal’s name has hebrew/greek origins, meaning ‘Baal-hanan’ or ‘God is gracious’, and tho he can be gracious in some regards, most see his character as lucifer. incl. mads himself:

in this scene, hannibal tells jack to “take control” as he did w/will, miriam, abigail, red dragon, etc. it is a genuine act of friendship from him. hannibal is a ‘virgil’ of sorts, or perhaps moreso a ‘beatrice’, (who originally initiated dante’s journey in “the divine comedy” + guided him through ‘purgatorio’ & ‘paradiso’).

he lures those who dare to seek, and in turn for accepting their darkness; gracious liberation. and while jack certainly has the capacity for darkness (& has shown it on occasion), he doesn’t wish to embrace it like will, thus ending jack/hannibal/will’s friendship. by the end of s2, will has fully incorporated his darkness/hannibal into his psyche and welcomes it.

Headcanon dump - Wings addition !

Undercut for slight gore and body harm and nsfw !

— Lucifer’s wings weren’t always red and white , they turned red after the fall and they grew back infected, which is why his feathers are red and scraggly .

— it’s another sign of him being influenced by hell .

— if overstimulated enough once he cums they will all snap out .

— feathers feathers everywhere .. especially if he’s molting just sheds them like crazy .

— they are fairly easily to maintain since they aren’t so full like they used to be, he will still preen from time to time .

— they are indeed very sensitive especially near the base where his old scars are.

— eventually the infection will spread and his wings will turn completely red .. marking him as the demon he is once that happens the feathers will fall out and be replaced by dragon like wings .

— he is worried every molt they won’t grow back , and the red will spread .

—however is also very prideful of his wings and their color trying to make the best of it.

— his original wings were cut off one by one in heaven as a punishment before the fall . ( it’s why all his wings are different sizes . )

— he keeps his wings in a separate plane to help with the infection and keep them safe .

— when in a bad cycle of depression he will claw at them and pull out his own feathers .

- likes to hold people he trusts with his wings .

— the nubs are still sore sometimes and he will get phantom pains of his original set being cut off .

Thinking about Michael's Lance, the one that kills the bad ones fast and the good ones slowly... The one that Michael created himself to use against Lucifer for their final battle (even if it was somehow stolen from him before that). The one that is adorned with special runes that can be destroyed to reverse the effects of the Lance on an angel who is mortally wounded.

I don't care much about late seasons angel lore (contradictory retcons, bad writing, etc.) but the implications of him making such a weapon are interesting.

Possible in-universe interpretations:

1) [Michael wanted revenge] the distinction between "good beings" and "evil beings" is purely based on their nature (celestial vs demonic), so Lucifer, fallen or not, counts as a "good being" by default and would have died slowly if mortally wounded by the Lance, which was what Michael intended as a way to make him suffer a slow, agonizing death (which is Ramiel's interpretation & probably what the writers wanted us to think as well "There’s only one angel Michael wanted to kill, and he wanted that son of a bitch to suffer." Not very consistent with Michael's S5 characterization, but that's late seasons SPN for you)

2) [Michael wanted to give Lucifer a chance] the distinction between "good beings" and "evil beings" is purely based on their nature (celestial vs demonic), so Lucifer counts as a "good being" and would have died slowly if mortally wounded by the Lance, which was what Michael intended not because it would make him suffer more but because a slow death would have given him a chance to repent and ask God for forgiveness in his last moments (more consistent with the Swan Song script that describes Michael dreaming of them reconciling). He would have then been able to use the runes on the Lance to reverse its effects and heal the wound

3) compatible with 2 [Michael wanted to give Lucifer a quick and merciful death] no matter how the Lance makes the distinction between "good beings" and "evil beings" (species or other criteria), Michael put Lucifer into the "evil" category by default, and Lucifer would have died a quick death if wounded by the Lance no matter what, which is what Michael intended because he did not want to make to make him suffer more than necessary.

4) [Michael wanted to give Lucifer a chance v2] the distinction between "good beings" and "evil beings" is based on something more complex than the species of the person at the other end of the Lance (the person's intentions, that are assigned "good" or "bad" based on Michael's own questionable moral standards?); Lucifer is part of the "evil" category by default, allowing Michael to give him a quick and merciful death, or a slow death that would give Michael the time to revert the effects of the runes if Lucifer showed true repentance and became part of the "good being" category by the Lance's standards (not likely to happen at all but the fact that Michael added that failsafe is interesting*) (*metatextually that failsafe is only there to allow the characters to save Cas but that's not a valid in-universe excuse)

The Fall was, in a word, excruciating. Lucifer had been one of the favoured sons, divine, beautiful, bathed in the presence of his Father, of the Creator. His moniker, after all, was "Morningstar," and he helped to create the stars, to create the cosmos. He helped bring light itself into the universe, which was no small task.

But he didn't want to stop there; he had dreams about all sorts of different things they could create. He wanted to make fantastical creatures, wonderous plants; his ideas were endless! The world was just beginning, and he wanted to take that world and make wonders.

The other angels deemed his ideas to be too fantastical, and when he started to ask questions, to try to understand why they had decided the world around them needed to be as it was, they started to distance themselves from him. But it didn't matter, because he still felt that connection, that love, the holiness that stretched between his father and himself, and he knew that he was loved, that he was valued.

His questions had him labeled as a troublemaker, as dangerous, for who would dare to question the word of the Most Holy? Lucifer just wanted to understand, to know why they created if not for the simple joy of it. Shouldn't they be able to explore what they created, to spread their wings beyond simply following instructions sent down from above?

The other angels continued in their own work, creating the world and the first humans, and Lucifer watched as Adam and Lilith had their first argument.

He was so moved by Lilith's spirit, by the way that she questioned what was 'supposed' to be, the way she stood up for herself, despite having only been created, that he sought her out, desperate to talk to her, to meet someone who thought like he did.

And it didn't take long for the two of them to find out that they did indeed have quite a bit in common; they were both dreamers, both deemed rebellious, and it was not long before they fell in love.

It was then that Lucifer finally had the words to put to what he was feeling, why he'd felt it necessary to ask questions: it was free will. It had been gifted to the angels as well as to humanity, and he had been the first to use it.

Lucifer wanted to share this gift with others, to make sure that they knew about it, as well. He and Lilith offered the fruit of knowledge to Eve, who had been created for Adam after Lilith had chosen her own path, to show her that she could live life as she chose, not the path that had been set before her, that she was expected to follow.

And it was this act, this gift, that turned the rest of the angels against Lucifer. He had finally gone too far, finally questioned, rebelled enough. Because now that humanity knew that they could question the Most Holy, evil found its way into the world, the way it had always been trying to do.

Heaven's order was shattered, the balance thrown off, and Lilith and Lucifer were cast down into the pit of Hell.

It was in this fall that Lucifer felt the separation from everything he had ever known. The light, the holiness, the connection, the love was ripped away from him as surely place in the heavens, his place as one beloved of his father. Heaven and all those in it had turned their backs on him, and he was only able, only allowed to see the darkness and strife in the world, not the good that his decision had wrought.

He had been so focused, so fixed on trying to do good, to improve the lives of humanity that he hadn't been able to the bigger picture, the way angels were supposed to, and he was punished for that oversight.

There's part of him that still reaches out for the connection with his heavenly family, even though he knows it will never be there again, that it was well and truly severed. He's a fallen angel, a demon, embodying his own sin of Pride…., and it took him a long time to crawl out of the emotional crater his fall dropped him into.

Not that I think astrology is an accurate personality test (and especially not sun sign only astrology), but I do think it's hilarious that Rory Morningstar is canonically an Aries. Given her conception date (late July), she would've been due in April.

Now of course, she could've been born late and been whatever comes after Aries (Taurus maybe?), but if she missed her due date in any direction, my money is on early. While Lucifer avoided public appearances, you KNOW he didn't actually leave Chloe's side until Rory was born and you KNOW that little brat (affectionate) would come early just to give Lucifer and Chloe less time together. Tell me that's not what happened! You can't. :P

And therefore that would make Rory a March Aries which by stereotypes makes perfect sense.

Alright everyone, buckle up and sit down. I was talking with @nerdasaurus1200 on another post and came to the conclusion that I need to write Sera meta so let's freaking GO

I'm mostly gonna be talking about Sera, what we know about her so far, and what makes her tick (aka her fears) and why she's not a bitch/asshole the way apparently so many people like to portray her? (I've mostly just been hanging out with fan art and headcanons specifically about Lucifer in the fandom so I haven't seen these specifically, but someone approached me about how they liked m portrayal of Sera in my fic which was NOT that of an asshole and apparently multiple people are portraying her that way? Idk I haven't seen any but uh yeah let's talk SERA)

Characters are always the most important part of a story, and even if they're not a main character and/or the audience nor the writer know what they want/need, the writer at the very least needs to know How and Why a character makes decisions, instead of just "oh they're an asshole" So let's do that for Sera. Why is she making the decisions she's making? LETS GO

Let's start off by talking about what we know about Sera

She's at least as old as Lucifer, she was there for the creation of earth given the appearance of her silhouette in Charlie's exposition

We know that the exterminations might have been Adam's idea, but it was HER decision to approve them

We know that she's FOR SURE older than Emily

and the other thing we know for sure about her is that she is the High Seraphim (we don't know WHAT that means exactly but clearly it is a position of authority and rule)

So those are the things we know for sure:

She's about as old as Lucifer

She approved the exterminations

She's older than Emily

and she's the high Seraphim

Now I'm going to circle back to all of these points but I want to start off with her relationship with Lucifer

Unfortunately for all of us, the only thing we can say about their relationship with 100% certainty is that they for SURE know each other, either because they were essentially "coworkers" in the past, or because they're both the respective rulers of their realms (even if Sera has some people above her) and they're implied to interact with each other

(at the very least you cannot convince me otherwise that they don't interact. Someone had to have talked to Lucifer about the exterminations for him to have had "approved it" and we know it wasn't Adam because Lucifer hadn't seen Adam since he fell to hell until the finale, and we know that Sera was not only the one to approve said exterminations but also decreed that no one else in heaven know about them. She clearly must have spoken to Lucifer about it because there's nobody else left who had the authority to do that AND knew about them)

So at the very least in present day Sera and Lucifer have some sort of professional relationship as leaders. And I'll come back to this because it's implied that this relationship isn't a very good one, but first let's talk about the past

full stop, we have NO IDEA what sort of relationship Sera and Lucifer might have had when he was still in heaven. But here's the thing, even if their relation was strictly "yeah I know them cuz I work with them, but that's as far as it goes" Lucifer's fall STILL would have been horrifying for Sera to witness. He was the same rank as her, probably no other angel except the elders likely ranked higher, and they still banished him. Charlie's storybook leaves it at that, but Lucifer implies it was violent in his debut episode.

trauma is a funny thing when you think about it, you're just as likely to develop trauma by watching someone else be assaulted as you are for you to have been assaulted. And Sera was there, she likely saw the whole thing happen. So not only did Sera watch how brutal the elders could be to someone who questioned and disobeyed the order, but the fact that it was done to LUCIFER someone of equal rank and authority as her means that absolutely NOBODY is safe from the elders

and this is without taking into account that on some level, she and Lucifer had to have been close. There are no other seraphim in heaven besides her, the elders (who appear to be rather hands off and uninvolved) and Emily. Emily was likely created as a replacement for Lucifer, so at the time, it was basically just her and Lucifer as the only seraphim up there. They not only worked closely together, they likely had a close bond as well. Now I have my own head canon preferences as to what kind of bond, BUT let's ignore that and look at 3 options (although there are likely more, but huuu this post is gonna be long already so let's not push it yeah? )

option 1: equal peers. You are Sera and you've known Lucifer all your life. You two have "grown up" together, learned about the world and your powers together. You're comrades in arms! You know all of each other's secrets! You lean on each other for support as you lead heaven together. You work together all the time. Sure, he can be a little excitable at times but it's so much FUN right? This guy could be your bestie/brother. And you sit back and watch as the only ones with more authority than you, skewer him and banish him to hell for having questioned the order and now there's a metaphorical spear against your back at all times because you know it could have been you instead, and it could still be you if you don't behave

Option 2: Lucifer is your mentor. He's taught you everything you know. The ropes, your powers, the world. He's fantastic! You admire him greatly. He has such energy you could never hope to match. You put him on a pedestal, and in one fell swoop the only people he answers to destroy your mentor in front of you. You are now alone, without any more advice or guidance other than a warning to not step out of line as your mentor once did

Option 3: Lucifer is your apprentice. He's adorable! A little over enthusiastic but who doesn't love someone who's passionate about the things they like? He brings a wonderful energy and vibe, and... he's your responsibility. You try to reign in his wild energy only for the elders to step in and banish him because you failed him and now you know that the elders could do that to you too

So, I'll be honest, option 3 is NOT the one I'm biased towards, but if it ends up being that one, it would make Sera's behavior towards Emily extra heartbreaking. She already failed one apprentice, she will not fail another one, right?

Either way, Sera is terrified of going against the elders because of what they did to Lucifer in spite of his rank. She knows first hand how harsh they can be and because of that, she will do everything in her power to make sure nobody around her falls into the same fate. No one will ever question the elders again, and she will lie and withhold information to make sure that happens

And we're just talking about the INITIAL banishment.

Now why would Sera bring this up, unless what she was most afraid of wasn't even the initial banishment, but of the suffering she clearly knows comes afterwards? And why would she care or even know about the suffering? Well, if it's true that she and Lucifer were close, then regardless if she was spying on him or not the way we know heaven can do, she still watched a cute enthusiastic little angel go from this:

all because because he suffered.

She watched him question, get banished, suffer, and change into someone she didn't recognize, in real time. And the worst part is, she's not only scared of what happened TO him, she's personally scared OF him and what he's become. He might be fallen, but he's still a powerful angel

And this segways into another bullet: she approved the exterminations, but WHY

Charlie's intro implies it was as some sort of punishment towards Lilith who was rallying the demons and they felt threatened

But clearly there's more to this

So first thing I'd like to point out, Sera doesn't look happy about this decision. She mentions as much in the song "You didn't Know" when she outright tells Emily "It was such a hard decision" and earlier in the same episode she outright tells Adam she wouldn't have approved of this if she had known it'd make things "worse"

But this is incomplete. Something doesn't make sense. Sera clearly meets with Lucifer for certain matters as previously established, and Lucifer, in spite of his initial trauma "NO CHARLIE DO NOT TALK TO HEAVEN" knee jerk reaction, never doubted that he COULD in fact get her a meeting with heaven. He outright tells her at the end of episode 5

He never says, "I'll try to get the meeting". He says straight up, I can do this. There isn't a doubt in his mind that he can get this meeting. He knows Sera will meet with him/take his call (idk how he contacts heaven) and will agree to the meeting. We don't really know WHY Sera agreed to this if she thought it was a bad idea and never really intended to entertain the idea to begin with, going as far as to tell Adam to rig the results and calling Charlie misguided. So what's up? Why on earth would she agree to it? Well...?

Sera is scared of the demons of hell, hence why she approved the exterminations, but she's even MORE scared of Lucifer and folded to his request. (or idk maybe there's more going on here and she feels guilt about what happened to him so she folds to him sometimes idk, but for the sake of this meta, SHE'S SCARED OF HIM)

but here's what's kinda weird. Charlie's storybook only mentions LILITH'S involvement with the demons rising in power, not Lucifer. Sera later claims that they were uprising to Emily as the reason she's scared of them and that it's her job to keep everyone safe.

Clearly SOMETHING happened between the creation of Hell and the exterminations being approved that involved BOTH the sinners AND Lucifer that made Sera scared of both. Sera doesn't seem the type to fear without reason. She fears questioning the order because that incurs the elders' wrath. She fears the elders because of what they did to Lucifer. She fears angels falling because she saw how much it hurt Lucifer. Sera is not the type to fear randomly. Clearly there is some sort of thing that happened that made it clear to Sera that Lucifer is to be feared enough to fold to his requests and that the sinners are dangerous enough that it justifies genocide.

And now to bring back the whole Sera is older than Emily. Emily didn't know this otherwise Sera wouldn't have needed to tell her. AKA Emily wasn't even around when said conflict happened. Sera not only had to go through something that clearly traumatized her to the point where she agreed that genocide was a reasonable response, but she had to go through that ALONE. Trauma is hard enough to deal with, but to have to navigate it alone really gives it some steroids it has no business in having

This genuinely makes me wonder how long the exterminations have to have been taking place. It probably took a WHILE for hell to gather up enough numbers that they started making buildings by the look of Charlie's storybook, AND THEN did something against heaven, so this was not happening from day one of hell, far from it. And this also makes me wonder how old exactly is Emily? She strikes me as extremely young

season 2 come out please, I'm working from CRUMBS here, there is so much we don't know

But yeah, all of this to say, Sera isn't just some alpha bitch who's prejudiced against demons (not to say there isn't bias there, there ABSOLUTELY is, ugh) but at her core, she's a leader who underwent a lot of trauma and she's full of fear and she makes decisions, rational, moral or not, based off of that fear. And yeah unfortunately, fear, especially trauma based fear, messes with us in ways we never would expect

a kind man may suddenly resort to violence. The confident argumentative person, may instead end up frozen. Someone who thought they valued their family all their life instead runs away. We may regret what we do in moments in fear, we might even logically know that we're making bad decisions, or decisions that go against our morals. Sera CLEARLY hates that she made the decision to approve extermination, but she holds onto it steadfast because it alleviates the fear

Funnily enough, I don't particularly LIKE Sera. I dislike her microaggressions towards Charlie and her attempts to sabotage her efforts at the meeting by calling upon Adam. But as a writer, looking at the clues I got to say she's a very interesting character to me. She seems like a reasonable authority figure, but she's so full of trauma that she's letting her fear make all of her decisions for her

Zekhan

Because of his feelings towards angels and the Celestial Realm in general, relationships with (current/non-fallen) angels aren't very likely outside of some weird solo one-night-stand encounter. He's reluctant to share MC so getting him to share them with anyone let alone an angel is a hard sell.

If Azra and MC are established, Zee could be a special guest for their activities including those with other demons/humans present.

***Note: Metatron is a possible exception due to his history and connection to Azra.

Tenebris

He's more likely to be interested in other demons or humans instead angels. Metatron is his most likely angel match-up in a relationship/polyship because of their shared interests. It's possible that Metatron's established connection to Solomon may be a problem...or it may lead to a jealousy-fueled encounter, who knows.

One of the anons here actually helped me realise something. Initially lucifer didn't like alastor because

He is a sinner and sinners are all violent creatures hellbent on causing as much chaos and destruction as they can

He was trying to steal charlie from him

But at the end of episode 8, both of these are no longer an issue for lucifer. He saw how a sinner could change and doesn't think that all sinners are bad for being sinners, and since he was able to repair his relationship with Charlie (which might not have happened if not for alastor by the way, because it was alastors actions that had charlie calling him out on not believing in her), alastor is no longer someone he should see as a threat. Sure, alastor is annoying, but he can get past that.

On top of that, Lucifer is a former angel with good in his heart above all else and it wouldn't be like him to just hate someone just because. Sure, he's definitely annoyed by his presence, but the vibe has changed. Before, alastor was everything Lucifer hated and now he's just a slight annoyance. Even the line "oh this guy" at the end of episode 8 didn't feel like a "i fucking hate you and your guts" like before, it felt like "oh yeah, i have to tolerate your annoying ass".

I think it's because of this little thing that i can see them getting along (with a shit ton of sass). Lucifer would definitely ask the man who's been there since day one, who's been faithful as a nun what charlie has been up to, and alastor would answer purely to flex his parenting skills on the devil himself

I haven't thought about how Alastor might value hard work from his one bit in Dad Beat Dad (wonder if this is something he values in friends *early era Vox ?cough*) But! I am intrigued! Do you have any headcanons/ideas for the scenario where Al can only derive nutrition via cannibalism?

Aw, thank you! I felt a little bad that I took it in a tonally totally different direction from what you intended, haha, so I'm glad you enjoyed nonetheless!

I totally think that this is one of those things that fits in with Alastor's general vibe of prioritizing traditional values - which I mean not in the religious sense but in the "hard work and good manners" sense. I think a lot of his dislike of Lucifer stems from the fact that not only is Lucifer swanning in to threaten Alastor's position as hotelier....he's doing it by snapping his fingers and using his powers as royalty to offer to bougie the place up just like that while being super judgmental of the things that they've put together. Alastor also snaps his fingers and summons shadows to do construction work, but Alastor is occasionally a fucking hypocrite. Also his shadows don't provide champagne and caviar while implying people are 'the help.'

And I totally think that this is something he valued in Vox before Vox went off the deep end of perpetual self-improvement in a way that threw the baby out with the bathwater. I feel like Alastor is one of those people who thinks you should warm leftovers up using the stove or oven instead of the microwave, and meanwhile Vox is out here inventing Voylent Blue because eating normal food takes too long or something.

As for the cannibalism thing: I don't know if this is meta canon or word of god or just popular fanon, but I've seen the idea floating around that all sinners come to hell with a curse designed to punish them. I really enjoy the idea that Alastor's is that he is an obligate cannibal. I am in general perpetually fascinated with various forms of disordered eating in fiction, and I like to write Alastor as too skinny under all his layers, perpetually hungry, and really only able to eat people. He gives me the vibes of a rangy, starving predator hidden underneath all of his pizzazz.

I'm genuinely curious why a Lucifer!Crowley fan theory drove you up the wall? I mostly want him to be a nobody just bc I'm tired of "oOoOh the nobody is actually Somebody!!" twists, but I saw a meta yesterday that had me at least considering Crowley might be Lucifer 🤔😆

That particular theory drove me up the wall because it proliferated despite both Word of God evidence AND in-story evidence that was flat out against it. I’m all for fun headcanons but I’m just enough of a pedant that it sets my teeth on edge when a headcanon is contradicted by both the text AND the author.

- Neil flat out said that Lucifer and Satan are not separate people in the Good Omens universe. So the theory was already dead before he killed it again with this new ask.

- Crowley refers to Lucifer as a separate person. He’s not referring to himself or as being one of the “guys”, in context he’s clearly talking about a separate group and it’s needless conspiracy mongering to try to twist those words. The context was incredibly clear and it required willful blindness or perhaps unfamiliarity with English as a native language and its accompany tone to think Crowley was including himself in the group or referring to another person calling HIM Lucifer. He was clearly saying Lucifer is over THERE with the guys and I’m walking by them and then joining their table because I’m bored. Ergo he’s not Lucifer.

- Satan is a character in Good Omens! He was Adam’s father! He appeared on screen! He was voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch! I’d understand the theory if we never saw Satan or Satan’s identity and whereabouts were a mystery but they’re NOT. Crowley is not Satan! We’d know if he was Satan! We saw Satan! It was a whole big thing, the climax of Season 1! I get it if most GO fans care more about Crowley than Adam but it definitely happened in the text and on screen!

- And since Satan and Lucifer are THE SAME PERSON as is the case in the MOST popular perceptions of Satan and Lucifer if you don’t delve into truly obscure angelic and religious apocrypha, that means he’s a separate character from Crowley!

Like I get it, it’s a fun theory and a great premise for a fanfic that’s focused on Crowley but my god, this theory COULD NOT be more contradicted in the text in every which way. The conspiracy mongering to make it work is truly mind boggling. I promise you in no religious comedy intended for a broad audience is ANY author going to make Lucifer and Satan separate characters in a story based on Christian mythology with an assumption that readers will expect it. That is something you clearly lay out in the story if it’s true and people should be theory mongering around it, the fact that Pratchett and Gaiman didn’t is because it’s not true and because 99% of laymen ie, their audience, thinks of Satan and Lucifer as the same entity. It would be BAFFLING for most audiences not steeped in obscure Christian religious apocrypha to make them separate and if you did it would be clearly stated at SOME POINT, ANY POINT, IN THE TEXT.

For fuck’s sake, Crowley isn’t Lucifer! And I’m glad Neil murdered this theory dead!
