HOW did you read the Bartimaeus books at 14 though I'm a full adult and I. They're making me insane. Every five minutes I need to do the Book Pace. They're so good. I think I'm dying. I will never recover from this.

I just pictured some post-apple Snow White meets Sleeping Beauty type of aesthetic. But instead of a glass casket it would be an entire glass house in the middle of the royal garden, decorated to the finest and with her favorite things. And her body would be posed in a bed or sofa there, as naturally and beautiful looking as possible, while Beomgyu makes his new life mission to find the best physicians (which is not much more than a fancy butcher by today standards lol) and pioneering cientists and necromancers and miracle makers in the world to try to bring her back to life. The prince from Cinderella scavenged the entire kingdom for the right girl that fit the right shoe, Beomgyu will scavenge half the world to find the right death whisperer to awaken the right corpse babe.

And every night he would go there and read her favorite fairytale to her, finishing with an 'I love you' and a 'goodnight', in a "at least when i'm asleep we are together and equal. Even though my heart is as dead as can be ever since the day you left me for the second time, I still have hopes you will come back once more. I will be here for you, no matter for how long, 'cause I am eternally yours" type of way.

He never gave up. He never left her side. He never even considered finding love elsewhere. And then one day he dies, sitting by her side with the same old fairytale book in hands, from literal lovesickness.

You probably meant this type of ending to be on the creepier side - like those documentaries on the most notoriously insane criminals in history. And I somehow made it into some classic Disney ordeal. No matter how fucked up the core idea is, when you insert beomgyu into the mix, my mind will inevitably insert some pretty twist.

So I was inspired by those real life criminals, particularly the man who stole a young woman's dead body because he was in love with her and slept by her side for years, but for yamqn I was actually imagine something hauntingly beautiful like you describe because I too am so tender for Beomgyu. I just love the glass garden aesthetic you painted and surrounding her by her favorite things and reading her her favorite fairytale book and wishing his own fairytale could come to life... 😭

But now that you mention a creepy rendition I am reminded of Ligeia by edgar allan poe and I just imagine that he succeeds in contacting a legit necromancer who gives him a potion to slip his wife so she'd fall ill and a spell on cast on her dying body to allow the soul of oc to slip into her weakened body. And he just lays by the side of ryujin's body as it slowly transforms into oc (along with all the horror of the original poe story) until they're finally reunited 😭

I'm getting so sick of major female characters in historical media being incredibly feisty, outspoken and public defenders of women's rights with little to no realistic repercussions. Yes it feels like pandering, yes it's unrealistic and takes me out of the story, yes the dialogue almost always rings false - but beyond all that I think it does such a disservice to the women who lived during those periods. I'm not embarrassed of the women in history who didn't use every chance they had to Stick It To The Man. I'm not ashamed of women who were resigned to or enjoyed their lot in life. They weren't letting the side down by not having and representing modern gender ideals. It says a lot about how you view average ordinary women if the idea of one of your main characters behaving like one makes them seem lame and uninteresting to you.
