Hi there! I’m curious to know have there been a lot of celebrity sightings at the Merrily shows? Thank you for all you do with this wonderful account.

There have been a lot of celebrity sightings at the show, and also off-Broadway, but only a few photos of celebrities have been posted on the official Merrily social media accounts (Lin-Manuel Miranda, Sutton Foster). Unlike other productions, Merrily continues to sell out every show, meaning that they don’t need constant PR so they rarely promote who is at the show.

Recent guests have included Melissa McCarthy (who went backstage and met the cast), Al Yankovic, Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessie Ware, Jon Bass, Lucy Hale, and many Broadway actors and friends. During the Buzzfeed puppies interview, Jonathan mentioned that Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters, amongst others, saw the show off-Broadway.

Zachary Quinto was at the opening and came back a few weeks later with Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange. Others at the opening included Anna Wintour, Cynthia Erivo, Lena Waithe, Raul Castillo (with Alexis Forte) and Gideon Glick.

Toby Onwumere saw the show with some friends, including Jonathan’s former partner, Tima Botwin.

There was a weekly summary posted on this account of celebrities seen at the show during the off-Broadway run.

Update: Whoopi Goldberg was at the show on 29 November and took photos with the cast. Rachel McAdams was also at the same matinee. Alan Menken and Hillary Clinton were at the 30 November show. Marvel Studios Reveals Phase 5 and Beyond - The Multiverse Saga

Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige took to San Diego Comic-Con to reveal Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - The Multiverse Saga. We also get a peek as the beginning of Phase 6.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premiers on Disney+ on August 17, 2022. The series stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk, an attorney who specializes in superhuman-oriented cases.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases to theaters on November 11, 2022. The remaining royalty, warriors, and residents of Wakanda will have to fight to protect their nation from intervening powers after the death of King T’Challa. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler. The film stars Angela Bassett (Queen Ramonda), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Lupida Nyong’o (War Dog Nakia), Martin Freeman (Everett Ross), Tenoch Huerta (Namor), Florence Kasumba, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli. The film marks the end of Phase 4.

Castro v. CA

Petitioners Juan Castro and Feliciana Castro are the brother and sister of the late Eustaquio Castro while respondent Benita Castro Naval is the only child of Eustaquio. Respondent Cipriano Naval is the husband of Benita Castro.

The plaintiffs in Civil Case no.3762 filed an action for partition of properties against the defendant alleging, among other things, that they are the forced heirs of Pedro Castro who died in Mayantoc, Tarlac on May 27, 1923.

In Civil Case No. 3763 plaintiff Marcelina Bautista also filed an action for partition of properties against defendant Benita Castro Naval alleging, among other things, that they are also compulsory heirs of Eustaquio Castro who died in Mayantoc, Tarlac on August 24, 1961 and that they are entitled to the partition of the properties of said deceased.

The defendants in their amended answer in both cases allege that Benita Castro Naval is the only child of the deceased Eustaquio and that said Eustaquio Castro is the son of Pedro Castro, therefore, the complaint for partition has no cause of action.

Issue:

Whether or not defendant Benita Castro Naval is the acknowledged natural child of Eustaquio Castro

Ruling:

RESPONDENT IS NATURAL CHILD OF WIDOWER AND A SPURIOUS CHILD OF MOTHER WHO HAD A SUBSIDING MARRIAGE. — Since Eustaquio Castro was a widower when Benita was conceived, Benita is his natural child. However, from the viewpoint of the mother who had a subsisting marriage to Felix de Maya, Benita was her spurious child.

PERSONS AND FAMILY RELATIONS; PATERNITY AND FILIATION; UNDER THE NEW AND OLD CIVIL CODE, ILLEGITIMATE CHILDREN ARE EITHER NATURAL OR SPURIOUS. — Under the Civil Code, whether "new" or "old", illegitimate children or those who are conceived and born out of wedlock were generally classified into two groups: (1) Natural, whether actual or by fiction, were those born outside of lawful wedlock of parents who, at the time of conception of the child, were not disqualified by any impediment to marry each other. (Article 119, old Civil Code; Article 269, new Civil Code) and (2) Spurious, whether incestuous, adulterous or illicit, were those born of parents who, at the time of conception, were disqualified to marry each other on account of certain legal impediments.

Peuples tzotzils - San Juan Chamula

Repus, on se dirige maintenant en direction de San Juan Chamula. Comme on l'a déjà lu plusieurs fois, et le guide est formel : on ne prend pas de photos. Les gens ici associent le fait de prendre une photo d'eux à leur voler leur âme (apparemment, s'ils s'en aperçoivent, ils récupèrent leur âme pour 500 pesos / 25 euros).

L'image est incroyable ; en fond une église abandonnée suite à un incendie et au premier plan un cimetière avec des milliers de croix de couleurs différentes, sans pierre tombale (juste la terre).

Les représentations des saints de l'église brûlée ont été récupérés puis déposes dans l'église San Juan Bautista (que l'on visitera plus tard) et punis car ils ont échoué dans leur mission de protéger l'église des flammes.

Le cimetière est plein de fleurs orange, la terre est couverte d'aiguilles de pin (sacré pour les mayas) et les croix colorées suivent un code précis :

- noir pour les + de 60 ans

- blanc pour les enfants

- bleu pour les femmes de - de 60 ans

- vert pour les gens importants (mayordomos par exemple).

Avant le Dia de los Muertos, les familles viennent nettoyer les tombes, préparer pour le 1er novembre (généralement un pique nique sur la tombe du défunt).

Notre prochaine étape nous amène dans le marché du pueblo. Ça grouille de partout, et ça ne parle plus le castillan, mais le dialecte tzotzil.

Au bout de l'allée la fameuse église qui enferme tous les rites mystiques qui nous ont captivés au moment de la préparation de notre itinéraire.

On entre, on sent le pin brûlé : le sol est couvert d'aiguilles. Il n'y a pas de banc, tout a été retiré pour laisser l'allée centrale libre. Les saints ont ete retirés des murs et sont mis sur les deux côtés de l'allée. On voit les saints punis de l'église brûlée ; ils n'ont ni fleur ni cierge. Les autres ont des bouquets énormes, ou des cierges colorés.

On avance et au centre, des familles se réunissent assis à même le sol en créant un petit autel du saint auquels ils demandent une faveur. Un cierge doré ou blanc pour une demande matérielle (de l'argent par exemple), et la taille compte aussi (une petite demande = une petite bougie).

Ils sont environ 5 ou 6 et allument une rangée de petite bougies et d'autres plus grande. L'un parle et appelle chaque saint pour chaque demande dans le dialecte (seulement un peu parler, le plus ancien). Ils font des dons : tequila, coca cola (c'est d'ailleurs étonnant de voir la place sacrée qu'à le Coca Cola, qui ressemble à une boisson ancestrale mais plus rapide à obtenir. C'est aussi l'objet de dot d'un mari à la famille de sa future femme). Ils ont aussi 2 poules, qu'ils s'apprêtent à sacrifier (mais on ne le verra pas).

On sort de l'église qui nous a interpellé et retour à San Cristobal de las Casas.
