Brass sounds gold , as the goods which are sins.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Oh, Henriette was not lucky at all, as you can judge. " – Dio looked around and saw a young woman in a vermillion velvet suit. Her face was oddly pale and chiselled, the unnaturally bright yellow eyes were drilling him with an intense She was too audacious for a young woman. Just for a woman.
Dio's already been drunk, although he had only two glasses of some heady drink.
The tone in which she was speaking, her straight sombre gaze slowly cooled down everything in the room, she was too loud for his mind, even though she said only a sentence.
"Get out, foolish woman..." – groaned Dio, putting his drink on the table furiously and clumsily, as the drunk would do.
The woman, who started talking about some Henriette, stepped back in the most laid-back manner, laughing wildly, as if she was a goat.
" Shut up.! You'll be thrown away from here, if you continue suffocating me with your ridiculous existence!" – he was about to punch the woman, but some other people from tavern stopped Dio's fast fist.
"No needs to make a fuss, sir! " – she only turned her head towards the crowd – "I see, young master Dio has no interest in listening to me. Well, as he wishes... But he should know, as long as he's alive, I am on his side. "
"Waht kind of insane abomination is she?.. Vulgar slut, talking her nonsense to me, Dio!.. " – Dio has already regretted he wanted to fight the stranger woman: people who were holding him, also squeezed his arms and chest tightly, just like steel rings pushing his ridges from l around.
"Now you listen me, Dio Brando. Adjure you."
Her voice wasn't female at that minute. It was longing as the oscillating low vibration, Dio felt he was able to hear only this noise, the tinnitus in his head. Those sounds were like low-tembered brass instruments or an old organ. Goddely, majestic, so spiritual — at the same time wild, throat-howling and sinister.
Dio looked around: people, who holded him a second ago were already standing as a lifeless statues. They're eyes were lacking of any aim. Brando looked at the stranger. She smirked eerily. Dio was struck by subliming sounds of brass from nowhere, also the stranger's gaze into nothing, through Dio, as if young Brando was transferred to that human looking creature.
"Listen to me, my child. Your luck you've met me – Paimon, the Great King of Hell. I'm greatful to the human woman Henriette P., who let me borrow her body. You, Dio, was choosen as her inherent. Isn't this news honorific for your small miserable Name?
Now You obey me, the one pf nine Kinga of Hell. I'll do everything you want from me, if you swear that I take your soul one day, no matter what happens to you.
And that day, when your time comes, your Body and her Head will gift me the incarnation."
She or He, Them or Paimon itself grabbed his wet with tears face and the atrocious brass became blessing gold.

| Sol Nath | Bhaal’s Spawn | Assassin/Poisoner | Pre-Tadpole
A couple of cult leaders enjoying the beauty of each others gazes, nothing to see here….
I like to hc that the Bhaal chain he wears (as well as the charm she has on her hood) is full of each other’s blood. At this time, they rarely saw each other and both wanted something to keep close. The two had other intimate items they held close, but Sol desperately wanted something that could be worn. Being out on the field was enjoyable for her—

Colin Stetson — Hereditary (Milan Records)
Tumblr media
youtube
It’s all there; the booming and heavily effected drums, crushingly high volume via repeated brass fanfares and a huge soundstage. In other words, everything you’d expect in the score to this kind of horror film is present, and that’s what you hear in the trailers, but, thankfully, just as the film delves beyond the superficialities of nightmarishly scary film tropes, those stereotypical sounds don’t tell the whole story.
If bombast and high drama is the order of the day, look no further than “Chasing Peter.”  The brief vignette has all the slam, scamper and high tension desired for those in search of catharsis. However, much of what makes Colin Stetson’s music work so beautifully is his approach to motivic and sonic unity. There are the obvious connections, the rolling Chopin-esque clarinet arpeggios unsettled by deftly placed dissonances as heard in “Mothers and Daughters” and “Reborn” and the rapid low-register sweeps beginning “Brother Sister” that return to infiltrate “Party Crash.”  These afford unity to the listening experience even without the film, and they pervade the score, forming webs of association. This facet alone is nowhere near unique. It is a limited but poignantly employed sonic pallet that makes the score a harrowing, suspenseful and often beautiful experience.
Because he’s a saxophone player immersed in many kinds of new music, Stetson was a superb choice to score the film. Though is primary instrument is certainly made paramount, he directs his focus from a specific family of instruments toward a study of breath sounds in a huge series of contexts. He brings knowledge of the studio to instruments whose sounds become less and less recognizable. Saxophones and clarinets are never quite what they seem. Sustains often hang over vast and reverberant vistas, honed to razor-sharp edges by distortion or whose attack is skewed beyond breaking point. As the plot brings a supposedly ordinary family into a drama of archetypal import, Stetson channels familiar sound beyond itself. The inverted attacks of “Charlie” connote something akin to uneasy respiration, while the distorted drones of “Get Out” move proceedings into the psycho-dramatic world of ritual. Even a purportedly single-pitch drone, like the one opening “Classroom,” blossoms into an oozing nightmare torrent of breathily knife-edged crescendo before snapping suddenly out of focus.
Bernard Hermann’s Hitchcock scores and John Coltrane’s Meditations are certainly precursors, opening doors to the harmonically complex but stunningly visceral sound worlds Stetson explores so completely.
The soundtrack is a continual blurring of boundaries. It is semi-static throughout, like much of Faure’s Requiem, severely troubled even beneath seemingly placid surfaces. This renders those points of eruption and cataclysm exponentially more powerful. Winds, voices and electronic blur similarly, creating a timbral unity at odds with the music’s often episodic nature. While soundtracks often exhibit a degree of incoherence, this one uses disconnection to its advantage, culminating in the magnificent “Hail, Paemon!”, for which the drone descriptor would be a disservice of understatement. Listening to these brief but connected miniatures provides a narrative compelling on its own terms, rendering it an exhilarating and confrontational experience.
