They are driven by a deep-seated belief that these enhancements will make them more appealing, or perhaps correct perceived inadequacies instilled by societal norms.

Men are not immune to this phenomenon. The pursuit of wealth and material possessions often stems from the same root - a desire to be more appealing, to fit into a societal hierarchy that equates success with monetary wealth and luxurious belongings. This pursuit is not just about personal satisfaction but about gaining access to circles and opportunities otherwise out of reach.

But let's pause and ponder - who sets these standards? Why do these hierarchical systems exist at all? It's a clever strategy, really. When society convinces individuals that they need certain things to be accepted or successful, it becomes all too easy to manipulate their desires and actions. This pursuit of societal approval has turned into a lucrative commodity for those in control, and they spare no effort in maintaining this seductive, almost hypnotic hold over people.

Roots of Perception: Reflections on Michael Craig-Martin's 'An Oak Tree'

In the early 1970s Michael Craig-Martin created his famous sculpture An Oak Tree 1973. The work consists of a glass of water standing on a shelf. On the wall next to it a text by the artist argues that, despite what your eyes tell you, the glass of water is in fact an oak tree. In 2024 Charles Pigott acknowledged the Oak Tree and presented its roots. The work consist of giving space to the reflection of The Oak, by imagining the image of the glass of water to be seen standing under the shelf. Reflections deny the rules of gravity and that is true of our roots in humanity, even if we are oaks.

I've been giving a lot of thought to whether to remove photobombing satellites from night images. This feels like an attachment to the natural world of Ansel Adams rather than the actual world of Robert Adams. For me, I don't find satellites and airplanes as a distraction. They are a layer on the human story. If I were able to shoot in a dark sky location, I would process my images differently, but being 70 miles outside Boston with the #builtenvironment right in my photo, it is flawed to remove one unnatural element while displaying another. This meme was LITERALLY my life story! The plan was to finish college (at Clark Atlanta) at 22, where I was magna cum laude, made tons of friends, lost lots of weight, made honor roll, pledged delta sigma theta. I was gonna find my soulmate and be engaged by gradation. At 23 I was supposed to have a full time job, be in grad school, married and at least preparing to buy a house. At 25 I was supposed to have my master's degree, own a house and have my first kid By the time I turned 30, I was supposed to have had all of my kids (I wanted 3-4), in my own house, married, have a full time job, and completely done with my graduate school (bachelor's master's, PhD) My ultimate goal was to be retired or preparing to retire at like 50 and have like $50k in the bank I'm 26 and all I've accomplished is getting my bachelor's degree, applying for post graduation jobs, and grad school...oh, and I've gained like 50-60lbs 😂😂😩😩😭😭 #Perceptionvsreality #Gladmylifedidntgoasplanned
