Unmasking the Lure of Perfection
Society's Seductive Trap
In our world today, there's a relentless pursuit of perfection, heavily influenced by society's rigid standards. It's a world where women often resort to plastic surgery and makeup, not merely as expressions of personal style, but as a way to conform to societal expectations of beauty. They are driven by a deep-seated belief that these enhancements will make them more appealing, or perhaps correct perceived inadequacies instilled by societal norms.
Men are not immune to this phenomenon. The pursuit of wealth and material possessions often stems from the same root - a desire to be more appealing, to fit into a societal hierarchy that equates success with monetary wealth and luxurious belongings. This pursuit is not just about personal satisfaction but about gaining access to circles and opportunities otherwise out of reach.
But let's pause and ponder - who sets these standards? Why do these hierarchical systems exist at all? It's a clever strategy, really. When society convinces individuals that they need certain things to be accepted or successful, it becomes all too easy to manipulate their desires and actions. This pursuit of societal approval has turned into a lucrative commodity for those in control, and they spare no effort in maintaining this seductive, almost hypnotic hold over people.
We're living in a world ensnared by these illusions of perfection, trapped in a cycle that benefits a select few while the rest strive to fit into a mold that might not even align with their true selves. It's high time we question these norms and break free from this seductive trap. Let's redefine beauty and success on our own terms. After all, true freedom lies in living authentically, not in chasing shadows of societal approval.

flawed goals.
maybe there are no human //flaws//. maybe those are just human //realities// in which society randomly chose to label as imperfect.
maybe the goals we are striving for are the most flawed of all.
would we still have insecurities if beauty standards did not exist? what would we choose to look like? dress like? act like? ... if society never wrote us the rules for being “good” “enough” “a-list”.
after all this time, I’ve really lost sight of me. is all this what I really want? or is this what I’ve just been told to be.

Our Failed Escape from Societal Standards
Our Failed Escape from Societal Standards
An everyday routine that leaves little room to interpret the life we are living is probably the most dangerous way to keep ourselves occupied. The mindless task of similar events day in and day out can stifle all creativity we all strive for. But do we really want to let go of the comfortable reassurance that routine can give us? Isn’t routine calming and simple in its complex importance? Even…

I can not recall in verbatim how John MaClean described beauty. However, the jist of it was this...beauty is not defined by the standards society pressures onto you. It is not defined by someones appearance nor their accomplishments in this world. Beauty is defined by the refinement of oneself. Taking what you have and working with it, polishing it, to be the best you. Not by societies standards but by who you are. For example, MaClean's analogy... diamonds are not polished and beautiful when they are first mined. They are covered in dirt and other types of rocks, stones, etc. However, when they are refined...cut, polished, smoothed. They are beautiful. Once all the unnecessary dirt and rock was let go it made it possible for the diamond to sparkle. Just how oneself can become the best them by letting go the parts of them that are holding themself back; the baggage, the drama and gossip, fake friends, the list goes on. Pushing past their lack of motivation, their procrastination, their fears, and finally leading themself to the person they truly can be. The best them possible. That's when real beauty begins to shine. It has to start from within; the mind, heart, and soul. | Thanks to those who actually read all this 😂 I know it was very long. | #makeup #selfie #JohnMaClean #self-esteem #encouragement #beauty #diamond #refinement #societalstandards https://www.instagram.com/p/BqlpcvyHpvu/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=z66kwkrcbtz1

. Someday you're going to be old Your skin will get wrinkly Your metabolism will slow down And your body won't be what it used to . You'll have to let go of all the physical characteristics that you've so strongly identified with And then what? . Who will you be then? . Are you going to be 85 & encouraging your grandkids to count macros? . Or tell them stories about the width of the thigh gap you had at 24? . Or are you going to teach them how to love themselves regardless of what they see in the mirror? . Regardless of the constant messages from society telling them that they aren't enough? . I think we both know the answer to that one . You see I'm asking you to think about this because it's up to us Its up to you To me And to everyone alive today To make a change in the way we treat ourselves And to redefine what is considered to be beautiful & important in this life Because society's standards won't change until OUR standards change WE ARE SOCIETY . So let's start right now Tag a friend in a comment below 👇 And tell them one reason why you think they're beautiful just as they are Ready....Set....Go! . . . . . #wcw #anorexianervosarecovery #recoverywarrior #beauthentic #bodyimagerecovery #changetheworld #edfam #ednosrecovery #bulimiarecovery #edfighter #bodydysmorphicdisorder #holisticwellness #holisticrecovery #makeadifference #bingeeatingdisorderrecovery #nomoreana #tagafriend #thesoulfillmentapproach #recoveryispossible #lovebeingyou #wellnesswednesday #societalstandards (at Portland, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsa__tDgx_L/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=6dxikn8fhxnm

learn to unlearn.
I find the people most different from myself so interesting. it’s crazycoolwow to think about how all these lives, so different, are simultaneously playing out, same time same earth. so different but same creator, same worthiness&enoughness in each one.  which gets me thinking, why do I think there is only one “right” way for me to live // accomplished every damn day, “good”, thin, put together, always smiling// ? why do I think there is only one “right” way to live when billions of different, yet equally valued lives, are happening right now?
the “right” way to live is all learned. //social media, movies, parents, teachers, books...//. we are not allowed to opt out of this life course, cause reality life is not fair&kind. so instead as grown humans, after having this revelation, must painfully learn to unlearn.

When your parents think you’re laughing at a sex scene and call you immature but you’re really laughing at the terrible gender roll expectation of this generation
