“There’s no way you got cars for all of us.” George and everyone else really couldn’t believe that the lengths you went through to make this trip as perfect as you could. “Not to mention booking out the Four Seasons!” Carmen interjected, walking next to her boyfriend.

You watched as everyone filed into the Mercedes vans waiting for them on the airport runway where the large jet had landed. You couldn’t believe you got everyone to come to South Africa in the first place but guilt tripping them had worked a charm, complaining that you don’t have a home race and that your mom would be pissed.

Very easy to fool these guys.

The skies of Johannesburg weren’t all too clear but you could tell that it was summer. Deciding to rather catch up with everyone at the hotel a bit later, you used a private exit to the airport so that you could visit your mom and sister before anything else. Plus you knew a big deal would’ve been made if you had announced that you were coming home so posting will do for now.

“Bathong, where are your friends? I thought you’d all come here.” Your mother said whilst setting up the extremely long table in her backyard so you were sat on a pool chair just watching her.

“It was going to look suspicious if i came here with all these people with the same vans following each other.” You replied. “I booked the Four Seasons, it should be big enough for all of us.”

“Oh okay, that’s fancy. So where’s your boyfriend?” Your mom asked with a grin on her face that earned a head shake from you.

“Ukuphi uLerai?” Where’s Lerai? (younger sister)

“Usaseskholeni. Unfuna ukuyomlanda?” Your mom replied. She’s still at school. Do you want to go fetch her?

“Yeah, i want to surprise her. So let me go and I’ll see you later when I drop her off.” You stood up, saying goodbyes to her as your mom went about what she doing.

Hopping in one of your various cars that you kept in your mother’s garages, you quickly texted your boyfriend when an idea popped in your head.

To say you caused a bit of chaos would be an understatement. You hadn’t realised that your sister’s school was huge and this whole time, you forgot what you and your boyfriend did for a living. Picture this: a Lamborghini Urus parked outside where many high school kids are obsessed with it, you and Lewis stepping out to call your little sister, kids recognise you two, you apologise to your sister with ice cream.

You end the day off with lounging in the room with your boyfriend, laughing at the reactions of your fans to the news of you being in the country. You had planned this whole visit out, wanting everyone to get their rentals tomorrow morning then taking them everywhere.

Not wanting to waste any time, Y/n scooped up her friends to visit her hometown, where she grew up and dreamed of this very moment.

The convoy of extremely expensive cars that sped through the route to Soweto had caught the attention of many people, including the news that announced your arrival.

Briefing the boys (and the girls) on their menu choices of your favourite foods, they all equally decided that they’ll start training when they get back home. With the food place being right across a park with a large parking lot, it was convenient for you.

Being the host for this whole trip, you went ahead and ordered for everyone, speaking through the hole in the wall to specify orders and paying a hefty price including drinks. You watched as all your friends climbed out of their respective cars, leaning and sitting on the hoods of the cars as they all bonded. The vibrant atmosphere of your home country made everything feel like summertime.

Getting help carrying all that food to the group, everyone took their orders and observed them. “So, amagwinya are fat cakes, they’re very filling. A Kota is a uncut loaf of bread with stuff inside like hot chips, sausages and other things that you can specify for your Kota.” You explained, everyone immediately digging in and their faces said it all.

“And for you, Lew, you can have the fat cakes and the hot chips. I have to say, you’ll be full for the entire day.” You turned to your boyfriend who gave you a kiss before trying the food.

Later that day, dinner at your mother’s was a success, everyone finishing their plates and sharing different stories under the Johannesburg stars.

The next day was filled with fun activities, hitting up the amusement park Gold Reef City then late night karting, the friendship between everyone was growing as smiles never left their faces.

May 12th 563 The community of Iona was founded by Colum Cille (St Columba) from Ireland.

Columba is undoubtedly the most important saint associated with Celtic churches.

Legends about him grew over the centuries, and many of the stories must be treated with caution. One of the more famous paints him as a sort of Christian sorcerer's apprentice, naughtily copying his master's precious psalter by the light of his own hand, and thereby sparking a major battle!

Iona's fame began in 563 AD when Columba, with thirteen followers,although some say 12, landed at the south end of the island, at St Columba's Bay, to establish a monastery.

So too, hundreds of poems, some quite romantic in their descriptions of nature, others simple devotional verses, were attributed to the saint long after his death. Nevertheless, through the obscuring mists of his legends have endured and many make the pilgrimage every year to visit Iona. His feast day is on June 9th.

I remember a friend saying that these dates for birth, deaths and the one like today and be so certain, well they can't be 100% certain, the changing of the calendar muddies the waters a wee bit along the way, but the main source of dates is through the old christian calendar and more precisely the feast days. Now I'm not sure of he actual nearest date to May 12th, but the main one must have been easter, so the founding of the Abbey at Iona may have been x amount of days after this feast day.

The first abbey on Iona was made from wood and clay, providing a house for Columba and his twelve disciples to practise their monastic faith.

For the surrounding Gaels, Columba’s monastery was a welcome asset, providing education and learning for their men. Columba died in 597AD but his abbey continued to thrive and its Columban monks continued to found monasteries as far as Northumbria, spreading the word of their God.

Just as stories of Iona’s great founder were beginning to fade into history, the ninth abbot of Columba’s monastery, Adomnán, wrote a hagiography called Vita Colum Cille (Life of Columba).

Vita recounts stories of Columba performing miracles, such as turning water into wine and reviving young men from the dead with his prayers. ‘He merited frequently to enjoy the delightful, most sweet, and luminous visit of holy angels,’ and on another occasion ‘by Christ’s help, he restrained the furious rage of beasts by striking them dead.’

Born 30 years after Columba’s death, Adomnán clearly held Columba in saintly esteem.

The first pic shows a drawing of the ruined abbey church in 1761, the second and third as the restored abbey looks today after George Fielden MacLeod, Baron MacLeod of Fuinary, led a group which rebuilt the abbey, and founded the community on Iona we know nowadays.

In 2000 the Iona Cathedral Trust handed over the care of the Abbey, Nunnery, and associated sites to Historic Scotland

BTW, no, I did NOT use an AI to write this. No chance. I'll prove 987alkhjflkajfq. I just wrote that with my face. Would an AI do that? Nope, cos AI's don't have faces, also they're very boring and predictable. Apart from Cyborg Noodle who's dangerously unhinged due to that hole in her noggin, but other bots - very beige. No, this really is me, writing by candlelight, robed in a billowy dressing gown, festive cheer all about me; turkey on fire, tree riddled with vermin (Russ found it in a graveyard), chestnuts roasting in the George Foreman.

Right then, without further ado, 2023, let's have a look at ya

Twas a year of the Tormenta (that's 'storm' in Spanish, also track 8 on my latest smash). Every kind of storm imaginable, inc loads of actual storms. A year when the Doomsday Clock moved to 90 seconds from midnight - a smidge ominous, but it's not midnight yet! So there's still hope. Not for our xmas turkey, alas, which Noodle has just put out with a fire extinguisher. But let's focus on the positives - like my incredibly successful album Cracker Island. Wow. Really suffered for that one, you know. Mostly Stuart's fault for dragging us into a cult-war, but TBF it did set up a terrific boss-battle finale for the Silent Running vid. And then Coachella! Ahh, the Gorillaz BFF's all together on one stage! (Plus one numpty who arrived late after falling asleep on the ferris wheel.)

Most important thing at the end of any year, ask yourself - what did you learn? I learned nothing. But what did YOU learn? Maybe that there's no utopia. Maybe this world is all we've got, so we'll just have to make do and polish the turd. Oo that reminds me, I need to wrap 2D's present.

Hello Anon thank you for the ask. I know that Jensen's been awful quiet about the stuff he's said to be working on with the "if things go as planned, it's gonna be a busy year" comments he's made in recent months. I know I speculated on another post when someone here on Tumblr posted about a photo where Jensen was spotted with Justin Hartley, his wife Sofia and a man named Jason Checcini that he may be on his way to go film The Boys, which reportedly started filming April 8 according to this site (although we all know that filming dates can be pushed back). This post was made April 7, 2024.

However, after seeing another post that posted today April 18, 2024, I do believe that he may not only possibly be filming The Boys season 5 but he may have also landed a role on Justin Hartley's show Tracker. Tracker reportedly films some in the Vancouver area, according to IMBD.

As you can see, the Vancouver concert took place on Tuesday March 26, 2024. The photo post with Justin Hartley, his wife and Jason was posted on Sunday April 7, 2024. Remember, this is just me speculating at this point along with everyone else but I do think it's possible Jensen has gotten a couple roles or is at the very least spending some time in Canada "networking".
