Rhys Darby returns to New Zealand for two huge milestones - Spy

Rhys Darby is back in New Zealand.

Why is Kiwi comedy star Rhys Darby back in New Zealand?

Rhys Darby is returning from his base in Los Angeles for a double celebration over the next few weeks - his 50th birthday and a special event to mark his 25 years working as a stand-up comic.

“I’m home for my 50th birthday celebrations,” he reveals to Spy.

Darby hits the big milestone on March 21 and says he, his wife and manager Rosie are planning on a shared party with their family and friends.

A week later, Darby will be in proud parent mode as his eldest son Finn’s band, Great Big Cow, will be performing at The Whammy Bar on Karangahape Rd on March 27.

“So, as a cool dad, I’ll be there of course, with my band manager suit on,” he says.

There will be fun and laughter to have on Waiheke Island the following week too. Popular island spot Wild Estate Vineyard in Onetangi has secured Darby for an exclusive one-off New Zealand show with an intimate audience of only 200 tickets.

Punters can be sure Darby’s will be giving the native birds on the island a squawk for their money with his famous bird calls from his 2021 TV stand-up show Mystic Time Bird.

“The show is called ‘25 Years’ - it is a celebration of my stand-up career,” say Darby.

“I’ve hand-picked the best material from my five comedy specials, and I’ve also added some new stuff,” he divulges. “It’s all killer, so the audience can expect me having a blast, and so I’m sure they will too.”

Wild Estate has become the go-to live venue on Waiheke for comedy and live gigs; last month, the Jordan Luck Band rocked the vineyard, and comedians Nick Rado, Tony Lyall, Paul Douglas and Ruby Esther have all had successful stand-up nights there too.

Darby has been home several times over the last few years, whether to film with his mate Taika Waititi in West Auckland for the second season of their hit HBO Max show Our Flag Means Death in late 2022, or his Kiwi road trip with David Hasselhoff called Hoff the Beaten Track last spring.

Darby finished the year with aplomb, hosting the 51st International Emmy Awards in New York in November.

The production company for his road trip show, Stripe Studios, made headlines last month with the New Zealand Herald’s Media Insider column, penned by Shayne Currie, reporting Stripe for unpaid bills. The production company also filmed a travel-style show with US comedian Iliza Shlesinger. Currie reported the Netflix comedy star is applying to have Stripe Studios (Comedy) Ltd liquidated. Stuff followed up this story, reporting Hasselhoff was also owed money from the production company.

Darby politely had no comment on the state of his and The Hoff’s road trip show, but sources say Darby played a big part in getting as many of its Kiwi crew as he could paid by Stripe.

However, Darby did share that Hollywood has been rather wet and dull so far this year. “I have a few top-secret TV and film projects in development, which I am really looking forward to.”

“What I can reveal is: I’ve been involved in Mukpuddy’s awesome adaptation of Badjelly the Witch,” he says.

“I think it’s going to be so so good!”

Hooded Statues - Marunweem Ruins

Let me take you back to the begining, back to the discovery that inspired me to become a Magiarcheologist. This, in particular, inspired my passion for old ruins lying in the scottish highlands and my obsession for uncovering all of their secrets.

I already did one post about mysterious statues of Hooded Women placed in front of Isidora Morganach's house in Felcroft. But this was actually not the first time I encountered these types of Hooded Statues, strategically placed along a path to lead a passing traveler somewhere.

To the west of the dready hamlet of Marunweem, across the water, there is a small island, framed by two bridges.

Right as you come out of the floo flame, this is the view that you are greeted with:

That's right! several statues of women wearing a hood and holding a rose in their left hand and a wand in their right hand. And, like in the courtyard in front of Isidora Morchanach's house, these statues seem to be placed very intentionally, inviting you to go up to the castle ruins at the top.

If you follow the path, you come to the entrance of an underground tunnel, which leads you to stairs taking you directly inside the ruins. And on the ceiling directly above the stairs there are drawings of magical creatures.

Within the ruins you can usually find sheep or cows grazing and there is also a Merlin trial placed there (which actually begs the question: was this castle already a ruin when Merlin was alive?? Because otherwise, why would he have placed one of his trials in the middle of someone's home!? Or was the casle built on top of an existing Merlin trial? They thought those vine covered pillars and the swirl on the ground looked nice and incorporated them in the architecture?? Food for thought... 😂)

If you wander deeper inside the ruins, you will find a wall with another drawing of a magical creature, placed just above another set of stairs going down.

The stairs lead you to one of the many treasure caves found in the game. But among the many design for these sort of caves, this one leads you to a statue of a woman wearing a hood, this one has her face completely obscured and is holding a staff (more similar to the types of statues found in front of Isidora's house).

This is not the only treasure cave containing a Hooded Woman statue. There are several of those all over the map. But I still though it interesting that this particular cave was within these ruins marked by other Hooded Women statues and that the entrance of this cave was specifically marked by a drawing of a magical creature. I noticed that drawings of magical creatures are used in other places to mark the entrances of dungeons containing Hooded Women. For instance, there is a drawing of a magical creature on the wall just in front of the entrance to the dungeon in Korrow Ruins.

A last feature of this castle ruins is that, on the outer walls, there are several white markings.

(@superconductivebean don't know if you found those, since you were trying to map the location of all these marks in the game!)

These sort of white markings come in several shapes but this particular shape here seems to be the alchemical symbol for soapstone... (make of that what you will!)

And once you want to go out of the castle ruins, there is another statue, placed at the left of the stairs when you first enter the ruins, guiding you to the path on the other side of the island.

If you walk towards that statue, another statue appears, right in front of it, this time a statue of a wizard pointing a wand right at the statue of the Hooded Woman.

This statue of a wizard looks much more ancient that the statue of the Hooded Woman. It has celtic markings on it. A lot of spirals and some markings on the outside of his sleeve that look like suns? I'm not sure. I'm really puzzled by the presence of this statue here. It was probably already on this island before the castle was built and before the Hooded Statues of women were erected. Is this statue the reason this castle was built on this island specifically? You can actually find the same statue of the wizard pointing with his wand in other cairns dungeons in the game, so who is this wizard? Merlin himself? Someone else? Very puzzling...

Anyway, I leave you with a last view of Marunweem ruins, from the other side of the island compared to the floo flame where we came in:

It was really the discovery of this ruin and the statues surrounding it that convinced me that a lot of the world created in this game, even outside of Hogwarts, is intentional and hand-crafted. Each detail that you find, almost, tells it's own story. And this is also the discovery that convinced me that the statues of Hooded Women are not placed randomly, but are used very intentionally to guide the traveler to some points of interest!

After falling in love with Marunweem Ruins, I moved on to other mysteries. But Marunweem Ruins were not done with me and still had another secret to give!!

Recently, while researching something else entirely (trying to pinpoint the location of some ruins related to the mysterious Forgotten Witch), in the game files, I stumbled upon a Floo Flame location bearing the name of "Old Isidora Castle"

Of course I had to find out where this specific Floo Flame was! And lo and behold, the coordinates lead me straight to my beloved Marunweem Ruins and the Floo Flame located on the island!

That's yet another piece of evidence that Isidora (and not any of the other Keepers) is connected to these statues of Hooded Women.

Did Isidora build this castle? Did she live there at some point in her life? If so, why did she not hide a part of her triptych here? Why did she have two other secret hideouts (the Overlook Mine and the Mountain Cavern) where she worked? Plenty of mysteries left to uncover!

Finally able to get everyone else out of the house for a couple of hours leaving her around with her precious Ruby. Kali dressed up in her sexiest outfit and waited to surprise her

The plump team leader had been a bit bummed that she hadn't gotten any alone time with her secret lover. But she had fun walking around the island, so many people were nice. Although many seemed to think she was some kind of cow or pig faunus. Maybe it was just in her head, but she walked back to the mansion, to go get her scroll in her bedroom. Wanting to take some pictures for Dad and uncle Qrow.

Brad Wayne, but instead of finding out the other Wayne’s are the Bats, he just finds out random secrets that stem from them being Bats. Bruce spent a few months in a Himalayan monetary, Dick almost married Starfire, Barbara owns a whole clocktower, Jason designed super bullets, et cetra.

Ohhhh yes. Brad may be stupid but he’s not an idiot, he knows when something’s strange and he’s got a good enough memory to write down the stuff he hears. He really just thinks they’re strange and traumatized, however. When the family finally thinks he’s not going to connect the dots and decide to mess with him, they don’t realize he’d remember all of it and write it down to try and tell his guys about them what. Looking back at the list doesn’t make him confident that they’ll believe him, though.

- Bruce was penpals/chess buddies with the penguin

- Bruce isn’t actually an alcoholic he just wants an excuse to get away from conversation

- Dick owns a circus and was a cop. And a museum curator. And a male model (note to self just check his IMDB) probably indecision from his parents not being around?

- Dick grew up with an elephant and still visits it sometimes, so sad

- They all speak at least 5 languages (proof: Bruce and totally-not-Jason-Todd argued about ice cream in like Ukrainian or something and then switched to some kind of Asian language)

- Jason is also legally dead so maybe he’s a ghost or something but that doesn’t explain how he attends Shakespeare book club with Alfred. Maybe Alfred can see ghosts? PTSD?

- Tim is like 17 and runs some of the company but didn’t even really graduate school ??

- Damian has a pet cow and also grew up on a remote island

- Dick was engaged to Starfire TWICE

- Stephanie’s dad was Cluemaster (really bad spin-off of the riddler) which explains why she’s good at wordle

- Alfred has so many guns but Bruce doesn’t really do anything about it, something about Alfred having been a spy in the past? Dude can do makeup like no one’s business tho

- Damian has even more family on his mom’s side but won’t talk about them other than the fact that his brother’s name is Respawn, what kinda name is that ?

Miracubots AU: Bits and Pieces

Thought about doing a vague timeline for the AU, but this one was niggling at me more.

So I've detailed about the main Rescuebots, but what about the others and the Autobots? Mostly the main Rescuebots want them to STAY. OFF. GRIFFIN. ROCK. They are having a rough enough time with just the four of them, they don't need to be worrying about other Cybertronians getting Akumatized. Hightide is mostly the one taking care of that. The moment he get's told about Swallowtail he pretty much goes 'Welp, I'm staying out to sea because I'd be a weekly Akuma' And agrees to help wrangle the other Bots and especally Optimus to keep them off the island, and offers his ship for the others to come to, to let off steam without worrying about Akumas. We've actually joked that he pulls a Swerve and just opens a fucking bar XD

I vaguely made mention of my OC Dusk who's this universe's Evilistrator and becomes Graham's boyfriend, he also has a little sister Claire who's the OC of my friend @beesquared whom I made this AU with. We go back and forth on it quite a bit because we play about with different versions of this AU but we typically agree. Dusk ends up with the Rooster Miraculous becoming Asmodeus and Claire the mouse becoming Pinkie.

Taking some Inspiration from Lady Luck, the Miraculous if you hold them for long enough have a physical and minor psychological effect on the holders. Not much but enough that if you know what's happening it's pretty obvious. The physical is pretty much just that no matter what the animal related to your miraculous is, you end up growing fangs. Even the Kwami don't know why and are confused when this ends up being true for the bots as well.

Food cravings relating to your Miraculous also start to happen. Cody develops one hell of a sweet tooth thanks to Tikki, and discovers he's gotten a taste for rarer meat as Ladybugs are voracious predators. Frankie and Plagg bonding over using science to make more camenbert and her also developing a hunger for meet, Doc Greene (Who despite not getting a Miraculous is let in on the secret) has to stop keeping mice in the lab for experaments because it is a constant test of Frankie's will power. Chase's to.

Chief, Kade and Graham end up developing a slight aversion to meat. Not too much in Chief and Graham's case as horse and goat meat are hard to get, though Graham can't stomach goat milk, and find themselves drawn more to vegetarian options. Poor Kade though starts getting nauseous at just the smell of beef cooking and the family agrees to stop stocking cow milk completely. Dani is just laughing at them slavoring anything she can get away with in honey

The bots *also* develop cravings, mostly for meat as most of them are carnivores, though Boulder when he's using his holoform is usually happily noshing on mushrooms and the vegetarian options the family starts having.

Other ways the Miraculous effects them, Cody and Dani end up accidentally making a flower garden together, they both enjoy unwinding by taking care of it, though Cody trys to make sure he never does it on an empty stomach as the aphids on the flowers look....*way* too tempting when he's hungry.

Graham starts chewing on anything and everything, especally when thinking, to the point where exasperated with him destorying some of his paint brushes Dusk as a joke gets him some baby's teething toys...Only to notice it's actually helping Graham and more seriously getting him chewlery he can wear all the time.

Other effects are a bit more subtle, Kade snorting like a bull when angry, Dani having the urge to move constantly when she's trying to explain or give someone directions.

And others are the bots literally starting to purr (Heatwave) Yipp (Blades) or snort (Boulder) when happy and hiss (Chase) when upset/stressed. Chase get's whammyed by Sass's miraculous quite a lot, if the familys ever on the beach and not on a rescue, Chase will just flop on the sand and bask for a while. And when he starts getting grumpy in winter the other bots set up sun lamps for him.

The snake miraculous literally gave the guy seasonal affective disorder.

Other Sky Island Settlements Besides Skyloft Headcanon

In Skyward Sword, Skyloft is the only major settlement we see throughout the whole game. I do not believe it is the only settlement that exists. I think there are more islands that the game did not show probably for story sake (and maybe because of the limitations that the Wii had at the time). So here's a headcanon list I have of the other Sky Island Settlements and their roles.

Sidenote: if you had read 'An Impulse Decision' some of these may sound familiar to you so yeah.

First lets start with the big one.

Skyloft- The biggest of the islands. If all of the islands were part of one country, it'll be the capital. Basically the Sky Era's Castle Town. Houses the Knight Academy where the people of Skyloft attend to learn how to be a knight, if not then a basic education. Students from the other island settlements are also welcomed to join. Once they have achieve knighthood, the non-native Skyloft knights can remain on Skyloft or go back to their home islands to be knights there.

Now for my headcanon islands

Windloft- Similar to Skyloft but on much smaller scale. Often nicknamed 'Mini-Skyloft', much to the annoyance of the Windloft citizens. Is know for many markets all of kinds. The homes here are build as normal wood and/or stone homes, unlike Skyloft who most of the houses are seem to be built underground and I think with concrete (correct me if I'm wrong please). The Icon of Windloft is a giant windmill (basically picture Windfall Island from Wind Waker).

And if you have read my fic, Karane is also originally from Windloft.

Location: North of Skyloft

Cloudloft- Another quiet settlement. Provides the material needed for the Skyloft Knight Academy to make the uniforms. It is the only island with the kind of cotton needed to make the special fabric for the knights. Another cool thing about this cotton is that it changes color every year, hence why all the knight uniforms are different colors every Wing Ceremony.

Location: East of Skyloft

Rainloft: An island solely dedicated to agriculture. It's placement has the perfect balance of rain & sun, making it the ideal place to grow crops of food. It also has several animals such as cows & goats which provide milk. They also have sheep whose wool help make clothing. They also specialized in gathering unfertilized eggs from their brooding Loftwings. Rainloft provides most of the food, and other materials throughout the other island settlements.

Location: South of Skyloft

Thunderloft: A settlement that is a far cry from the simpler, quieter lifestyles of the other islands. This island is famous, or infamous depending on who you ask, for extreme Loftwing racing. Many would fly all the way to this island to watch these races, and the other sports presented. The natives of Thunderloft are a proud people and are happy to provide such entertainment for its citizens and visitors. Thunderloft is also where the most non-Skyloftian knights students often hail from.

Location: Northwest of Skyloft (beyond the Thunderhead)

Bonus:

Outer Isles- A serious of smaller islands that are not affiliated with any of the major settlements. Most would move here to live out more solitary lifestyles. However, they also serve as places for criminals who have been banished from their Island Settlement to live out their days in exile.

Location: Far West of Skyloft.

Sheikah Village- A secret city on The Surface. They're descendants of the Sheikah that served under Hylia. For the centuries the humans lived in the safety of the skies, the Sheikah people mastered surviving the unpredictable wilderness of The Surface. When the Cloud Barrier was gone and the humans started moving back on The Surface, the Sheikah came out of hiding and help the humans settled down. Providing them the tools they need to survive. It is thanks to the Sheikah's assistance that the human settlement grew and eventually became the kingdom we all know as Hyrule.

Location: The Surface.

The Kinslayer Couple

Summary: The ground falls out from beneath Valaena Velaryon’s feet within the span of a week. The week begins with the death of her grandsire, making her mother queen and her Princess of Dragonstone. It ends with the death of her brother Lucerys at the hands of her husband, Aemond Targaryen. From there, Valaena embarks on a perilous journey to win a war against her own kin, forced to discern who are friends and who are foes on both sides of the conflict.

Chapter Twenty-Four: Odyssey

First Prev

135 A.C.

The ship lurches, and Aemond tumbles from his hammock. Falling onto the uneven, wooden floor, he rolls uncontrollably to the port side of the ship and stops by smacking into the wall. Groaning, he struggles to sit upright and regain his bearings.

Deftly, the member of the crew nearest to him swings his legs from his own hammock and stands. Grinning down at Aemond, the man taunts, “Up on your feet, greenie.”

Groaning again, Aemond uses the wall as leverage and shoves himself up from the floor. Following the rest of the men, he stumbles as he makes his way to the ladder leading up to the deck. He is the last to emerge into the waterlogged, night air. Crewman run off in every direction, taking up a dozen tasks to keep the vessel upright amid the storm into which they had wandered while they slept. Disinclined to drown himself, he gets to work, too, helping to pull all of the sandbags hanging from the ship onto the deck. As the ship lurches again, he catches sight of the moon, white and waxing and gibbous between the clouds.

Two moons past, he had escaped from Daemon’s clutches with the unwitting aid of his wife. Years earlier, Valaena had shown him the secret passageways carved into Dragonstone, and so he had hidden within them for a week, stealing food from the kitchens and waiting for Daemon to lose his scent. For five days, his uncle and the little girl he brought with him had burned every ship that sailed from Dragonstone’s shore. On the sixth day, for whatever reason, they had stopped, and so Aemond had contrived a plan to stow away on the next ship with sails wide enough to leave the bay. In his time on Dragonstone, before Valaena had overthrown him, she had told him of how she smuggled her way onto a ship to Duskendale at the start of the war. He had thus embarked on a similar strategy, disguising himself by using her dagger to shear his hair as close to his scalp as he could get it and covering what was left with mud. He boarded a Westerosi merchant cog called Woods Witch with a gray flag for its destination. Gray, he had foolishly hoped, for Oldtown.

Gray for Asshai, he had later learned.

Now, he toils like a peasant, and for what, he often wonders. He meant to return to the mainland so he could recoup his losses, mayhaps find his brother, come back to Dragonstone with more men, and reclaim his dragon and his wife and his son. Rather, he is bound for the farthest part of Essos on a vessel set to make its return home after another three moons.

Pulling the last of the sandbags onto the ship, he takes a break to breathe. Leaning on the rail, he squints at the turbulent sky through the rain. A cord of lightning sparks in the distance, and he is reminded of a breath of fire amid the clouds in another storm a year past.

“Luke,” someone calls, the shout nearly lost in the roaring wind. Still, Aemond hears it and turns toward the sound. The first mate, Devan, waves to him, silently begging assistance with the aft sail. Rushing over, Aemond helps him set it to right.

Aemond had lasted a half-day on Woods Witch before being discovered. When one of the crew had rooted him out, he had been brought before the captain, Tom, who had asked his reason for stowing away on his ship. Naturally, he had bent the truth in his answer. Whilst he had maintained that he was fleeing Daemon, he claimed that it was because he feared the old prince would burn the whole island, not just him. The captain had accepted this tale of cowardice and asked his name.

He had offered the very first name which came to his mind, even as shame crawled up his throat alongside his voice. “Luke.”

At this, Tom had smiled. “My son is named Luke also, after the queen’s late son.” He had thus permitted Aemond to remain so long as he carried on like a member of the crew.

The ship lurches again, and Aemond struggles to maintain his hold on the halyard. A tall wave makes its way over the starboard side, soaking him and Devan. His grip on the rope slips, and he staggers back into Devan, who shoves at him. Aggrieved, he turns to confront him, but this loss of focus turns out to be a grievous mistake. Yet again, the boat lurches, and he tumbles toward the port side afresh.

As his head bangs against the wooden railing, his visions swims. He clutches at his head, his fingers digging through the short, wet strands there, and another blinding pain strikes him, though not from any sort of blow. It feels rather like a cord snapping, tearing him away from all he knows.

He picks MC first.

Alfie confesses to hooking up with Kat, and in the moment said he only had eyes for her. He said it just kinda came out and he regretted it immediately. Kat backs him up after saying he's genuinely into MC and tells you not to pie him off.

Chat with Suresh and he confesses more about the waitress, tells you Dana’s been flirting with him.

Chat with Finn where you get to call him out for kissing you (if you kissed)

Dana asks if its ok if she gets to know Suresh

You're asleep on the daybeds and Alfie and Finn are talking. Kat wakes you up so you can eavesdrop with her. Alfie’s telling Finn he likes you a lot, and they concoct operation MC to get Suresh distracted so Alfie can crack on with you.

[Tula the Cow] a librarian who travels around the world sometimes and learning about the secrets of Sonic's world not just learning about Sonic's world she also loves clipping books to Archive back at her Library she's also a teacher as well educating the children she lives a free Carefree life and when helping out anyone need nothing in return or never revealing her name just continues wandering off when she's done traveling she finally goes back to her hometown when she's done traveling she goes back to her job as a teacher educating children telling them the stories on what she's found and what she saw some of the people in her hometown and the children don't believe some of her stories some call her Tula liar the places she's been and wrote down in her notes and journal.

When she's not traveling or not working at the library, teaching sometimes just wants alone time we'll just read a book, laying back or play the ukulele.

Tula a very kind lady and wise and act like a mother figure around some people and when someone messes up she tells him it's okay one time when one of her students got a bad grade tell him it's okay to do better next time

She also strong knowing martial arts only Lauren martial arts to self-defense when traveling around the world she prefers avoiding conflict but has a bit of a shipper inside her she loved hearing the stories mysterious Wanderers who fight to protect people and never want anything in return never reveal their names she does when she's helping people.

Tula became a scholar from her family who used to explore and archive knowledge out there in the world and from a good friend Violet the butterfly telling her how her family was incredible over the years some becoming Scholars teachers or archaeologists after hearing the stories she like the idea of traveling and it seemed pretty simple as for becoming a teacher she actually loves children really good with kids and once they educate them having many choices in life not just one.

my hopes for the hollow woods update

first and foremost BIRDIE MUST SURVIVE!! i am a proud member of birdie nation and i hope they are still in hollow woods. if they have a new look or not i dont mind im comforted by birdies present and birdie deserves to be here

the cows look more naturally placed and less constipated. idk if its just me but the cows look so.. forcefully placed?? maybe its just me im not sure

WILDLIFE EVERYWHEREEE i know this has been shown in the teasers but id like hollow woods (and jorvik in general) to have some more wildlife as honestly it seems a bit dead. i live five minutes away from woods and its teeming with life so i hope hollow woods mirrors this.

building off my previous point id like it not to have such a grey tinge. ive seen some other ppl comment on this but from what ive seen the updated woods look super green. like brocoli.

idk if it has a specific name but id like the little building on the river with the watermill to still be there, its so cute.

keep the flowers please. the current ones are quite garish in colour but theyre still quite pretty, a new colour would suit them. i think the island needs more flowers in general

Why Fist Thingy is (or is in cahoots with) Walkie Talkie theory (and also my Actual Thoughts about Walkie Talkie)

here to tell you guys mytheory on why FIST THINGY IS THE SECRET INANIMATE INSANITY INVITATIONAL VILLAIN!!!!!! read it. (contains spoilers for iii17!!!)

(just wanna preface this with the fact this is mostly a joke!!! i thought of this while rewatching the whole show back in october and decided the new episode would be a time to post about it. did it for the funnies and the slightest chance there may be some merit to it)

Ok first item on the agenda this is gonna get wild so strap in tight or else it may blow your seatbelts off: iii has introduced the concept of fist thingy being sentient, doing things a non-sentient object would not do

this is something that the show has NEVER hinted at before, making it seem almost as if they’ve added this in specifically for a reason..an EVIL reason?!?! suspicious!!!

second! we have fist thingy Sending Contestants To Indefinite Island. we know it has to be intentional on fist thingy’s part, since it’s done consistently, HOWEVER. it is completely without mephone’s knowledge—until iii10, he had no idea about indefinite island at all and he did not give fist thingy the direction to send eliminated contestant characters there. which means that someone ELSE has to have done it—whoever is behind walkie talkie .. or fist thingy itself, perhaps ?! mysterious!!!

next up here at spot number three we have the springy connection. now that it has been confirmed that springy and walkie talkie Are Indeed working together, there is something Verrrrrry interesting i was thinking…what sort of object is fist thingy? a boxing glove. now, what do springy’s mitten-covered hands look like when curled into a fist (!!!), and particularly in this image at the end of the ep? THAT’S RIGHT, BOXING GLOVES!!! curious!!!

but ashy! i hear you cry out. this is all so farfetched! what reason would fist thingy have to be walkie talkie in the first place? well imagine this little ones. fist thingy is just like mephone. overly attached to the show. been here since the early days and wants it to go on forever. however it was mostly left behind in s2, save for a few scarce appearances—so it’s desperate for any chances to stay in use in s3 it finally finds a voice through the use of a walkie talkie (don’t. Don’t question how.) and tries to keep it going as much as it can because once it’s over—what use is it going to be anymore? also hey if you wanna add in the “something bad happens to every cohost” thing then fist thingy has a reason to hate the floor specifically—it’s shown frustration over not being able to send him away

or, Alternatively, it’s the other way around. what i mean is fist thingy still isn’t sentient but was hijacked and is being controlled by walkie talkie—still is walkie talkie, but not technically actually walkie talkie or just in cahoots with walkie talkie! either way it has to be one of them, because fist thingy wouldn’t just be sending contestants to indefinite island for no reason BUT YEAH!!! end of my awesome theory unless i remember some other point hope you enjoyed …

if you want my Actual Thoughts behind walkie talkie. who it is, i don’t know exactly. but she’s definitely a kinda metaphor or stand-in for like, The Corporation, the way capitalism affects art, you know—the whole ai art metaphor as well as the whole deal with springy

she’s someone who wants to Profit from the show, i think. which is why she’s so desperate to keep it going like mephone is—not that she holds any sentimental value towards it, but because it’s popular, she wants to make it her cash cow and milk it dry and mephone is a person who would let it happen

she Could be from meeple, i suppose, but i don’t really think so? we’ll see. although she doesn’t appear to have any relations with it cobs Did enjoy profiting off of the show without mephone’s knowledge, aside from that though there doesn’t appear to be much reason to see them as the same this is just a Different corporation. a different capitalism, i guess! while cobs would orchestrate fights and such to make the show more exciting and adam begged for bow to stay because viewers liked her, walkie talkie doesn’t seem to really care about entertainment value. she doesn’t care about the art. she prefers quantity over quality and to get that quantity, to get The Money, she has to keep the show running for as long as she can, way past what’s natural. 2 different kinds of corporate meddling

the show has sponsorships. MAYBE THE LIFERING SPONSORS MEANT SOMETHING AFTER ALL!!! springy wants to sell a contestant as a mascot to endlessly profit off of them

etc etc this has gotten very long …im excited to see the finale!!! what is walkie talkie’s DEAL!!
