I was going to stop posting my own stuff for a while but I was quite pleased with how this turned out last night. I'm channelling a mid 20th century illustrator called Charles Keeping with a bit of Louis Wain thrown in. Not quite finished as it's a frame for a graphic novel I'm toying with and so I've left space for speech bubbles.

So I haven't spoken about this before but there's this absolutely amazing quest I've been following closely.

The basic premise is that we play as an alien civilisation in the cruel and unforgiving galaxy of WH40K and try to do our best to fucking survive and stuff.

During CharGen there was a bunch of stuff we could pick: how our species looked/acted, how our government was structured, what general aesthetic our technology followed, what civilisation-wrecking catastrophe defined our rise to the stars...

So we ended up being technophiliac Star Trek ferrets who were saved from the Imperium of Man by weird eldritch robots and use Lego-based technology.

It only got crazier from there.

I often had asthma attacks and would stay up late coughing away into the night and we would explore galaxies together.He'd patiently provide answers and give opinions on equality, parenthood, love, honour, courage, hardships, imagination,individuality, freedom, society and space that strangely coincided with those expressed by the characters. 35 years later Star Trek: Picard got me thinking about transcience, the loss of my father, Yugoslavia and the world we once knew. imagine amanda watching how mothers on vulcan share a telepathic bond with their children and not being able to do this for spock

imagine how it would break her heart, how she might worry they'll never connect when she sees a mother touching her daughter's face or holding her son's hand with purpose, without words

imagine spock melding with her as soon as he's able, showing her he loves her because he can't say it, he'll never be able to say it

imagine her being so proud of her little boy for researching and teaching himself to meld with a non-telepath just for her, all for her
