As somebody who shaves in an “old-fashioned” way that’s come to be coded as “masculine” in recent decades, it’s got me thinking about about how Ganon was portrayed in TotK and how Nintendo could’ve used that to characterize him more coherently.

A lot of people tend to draw Ganondorf with body hair because bearishness is kind of the “in” thing for more masculine and solidly built characters. However, in his actual key art in TotK along with his ingame model, not only are his hair and beard meticulously trimmed and styled, but he also has absolutely no body hair anywhere else on his body, which means his grooming routine likely involves some pretty intensive shaving/waxing.

Like, shaving is EXTREMELY time-consuming. Shaving the old-school, “masculine” way with a safety razor or an outright barbershop razor blade is even more time-consuming. You have to wash the area clean first. You have to mix and keep mixing the lather to keep applying it to prevent the razor from getting caught on your skin and making microabrasions. You have to use the safety razor very slowly and carefully to make sure you don’t nick yourself, then seal any nicks that do happen immediately with a styptic pen. After you’re done, you still have to do extra steps to make sure your skin doesn’t get those red rashy bumps from microabrasions or trapped ingrown hairs that can get infected, such as putting on aloe gel, rubbing your skin with a wet alum block and rinsing it off after a few minutes so it doesn’t leave chalky residue behind, then applying moisturizer and waiting for it to absorb.

It points to Ganon having an extremely meticulous, regimented, and time-consuming grooming routine, having to give himself a full shave on his arms, legs, and chest every few days or so on top of daily maintenance of his facial hair. It makes sense to me, given that the Extremely Cleanshaven look to be covered up with cooling head coverings, wigs and false beards was something of a beauty standard among upper class men and their attendants in Ancient Egypt. Ganondorf’s desire to project a composed, “kingly” aura would of course extend to meeting certain standards regarding his own appearance. Being so “put together” is also a big blinking social signal that he’s A Man Of Status, as he’d actually have the time/money and resources/assistance to regularly perform such strict personal grooming rituals.

But it also makes me wonder how he’d regard men who were less meticulous about grooming and hair care. Would he find hairiness a sign of slovenliness or poor upbringing? Would he be kinda grossed out the first time he went to Hyrule and saw a hairy leg or back hair on an older man? Would he get snooty about the more lax standards of grooming for men in postindustrial Western patriarchal societies in amusing/less amusing and more classist ways?

It also makes his throwing away his sense of self at the end of TotK even sadder. Like, when a character who was formerly so concerned with appearing well-groomed and put together suddenly stops their routine and goes to seed, you know something’s gone horribly wrong. The poor guy’s stuck with an eternal neckbeard and messy, molting feathers, and that would’ve driven him nuts if he still had his brain! Who’s going to brush his hair and bathe him? Who’s going to trim his horns and keep his scales moisturized and polished so he doesn’t get all flaky and itchy? Who’s going to treat and cover up all those unsightly, sensitive looking blemishes? The poor thing! 😭

But, also, it makes certain details about his beast form more interesting in retrospect—how he puts more care into his appearance the more connected to his humanity he is. His at least wearing a cape and a suit of armor along with some accessories in ALttP, only to lose his clothing as he lost touch with himself. His resurrection in Oracles being his mother dressing him up in an outfit he would’ve worn if his soul and mind were intact by his mothers as a dying act of love. His wearing a similar outfit when Yuga resurrected him, only for that to feel like Yuga halfheartedly dressing him up like a doll as a matter of precedent/personal aesthetic, which Ganon has no way to appreciate or consent to.

His blobby, amorphous appearance in BotW, which he tried to move away from by attempting to restore his human form and reconstruct impressions of his old signature jewelry with so much time and effort, only for the result to come out shoddy and incomplete due to Zelda and Link’s interference, and then his abandoning it entirely to become a naked beast at the very end when he was backed into a corner. And then, in TotK, his preoccupation with “looking the part” of king of the world who got to defeat his destined opponent even though he could’ve just slaughtered Link right there when they first met.

Just…you could do something with that. There’s so much you could do with that, both to reinvent the man for the soft reboot and recontextualize his prior appearances with a new personal detail that can act as a barometer for his overall mental health as he changes, rearranges, dies and resurrects! But then they just…didn’t? They just said a line in an interview and didn’t even put it in the game? 🤦

POTO LONDON 16/03/2024 CHUMISA’S 3RD SHOW!! - REVIEW

I had booked this trip before Chumisa was announced to be taking over as alternate the day before so I was kicking myself I just missed her first show, I had heard clips of her online and she sounded incredible and lots of people were raving about her.

I went to the show expecting Eve or Colleen to be on as Lily had been off the Thursday and I didn’t think Chumisa would have done 2 shows directly after her debut BUT low and behold her name was on the castboard however I was a little skeptical as there has been a few times where it’s been incorrect.

During the Hannibal ballet Chumisa came out and I was so excited!! She looked gorgeous in the costume and wig! I also got the pleasure of seeing Lily as Carlotta again who was also brilliant, during Carlotta’s think of me Chumisa was in awe of her and just as the cloth was about to drop you could sense that she had sensed the presence of the phantom.

She began think of me and had a lovely vibrato to start off and then she delivered an unbelievable rendition of the song! So elegant in the way she moved in the Elissa skirt and so smiley like her Christine couldn’t believe her luck! Her cadenza was angelic to say the least so floaty and the high note so strong!

Her chemistry with Joe in the dressing room was so so good she played Christine like a total giddy teenager which really worked!

Her title song was lovely she has a great lower register for the beginning and then her cadenza was BEAUTIFUL and really powerful!

Perfect acting in music of the night played Christine with so much curiosity she was just fascinated by the phantom, her facial expressions and again so elegant in the way she moved!

The unmasking again just great acting and she held the note when singing “who’s is that face in the shadows…who’s is that face in the maaaaask” tiny detail that I LOVED

In the rooftop she was not having any of Raoul’s BS she completely stood on her own and almost seemed to be like well if you don’t believe me see ya later!

All I ask of you was brilliant! Again their chemistry was so palpable one of my fave performances I’ve seen of that song!

Masquerade again her little acting choices were so solid it was as if she was searching for the phantom in the crowd! Notes/managers 2 she stood up to Carlotta really strongly and when she got to Twisted every way you could see her Christine totally break down like she had nothing left to give, truly wonderful poignant acting choices!

Her wishing was SOOOO GOOD she relied a little more on her belt which I imagine she’ll get more into the soprano side further into her run but for her 3rd ever show an absolute acting masterclass!

In PONR she was stunning! When she knew it was the phantom it was almost rage coming out in her singing like she was so over his nonsense lol

NOW…..the final lair…..WOW

She was inCREDible!!! Again a lot of belt but it worked so so well for her portrayal of Christine she really held her own here I was blown away! I got that Chumisa rn is more of a Raoul Christine as opposed to Lily who’s the polar opposite so a really lovely change!

Overall for her 3rd show as Christine I see Chumisa being a fan favourite, so much charisma and charm in her Christine and vocally was beautiful and will only get better! All 4 London Christine’s are top of their game we’re truly spoiled!

Costume notes:

- Her wig texture and style was stunning I just wish they’d add a bit more hair to make it a bit fluffier.

- Her Elissa Skirt is like Anouk’s one so no big bow in the back and gold appliqué round the fake bodice.

- Lovely mint bow in her hair for Il muto and I’m not a massive costume buff however her rooftop dress looked different and I can’t pinpoint why?

- Her masquerade dress was slightly better than Lily’s the bodice was perfectly fit and adequately beaded and the skirt had a lovely shape! West end star princess’ are just not my fave tbh!

- Her wishing dress was like the original production ones with the waterfall drape which was interesting I wonder if that will change

Looking at your past art has me really loving your drag king Natsumi, do you have any more thoughts on them? I'd love to hear them. Also just your genderbend ideas in general. They are very interesting!

for future reference, here is where i drew some drag king natsumi + sapphic ottosuba :) i definitely plan on making more genderbend au content in the future thats for sure! :o i have another older art post on this here also (i am. too lazy to find it rn but its there somewhere!!) but i have some in depth thoughts about fembaru for sure yes :3 ty for finding my genderbend ideas interesting!! :D !! id be happy to talk about them more :o

im gonna start with outward design stuff / gender presentation first!! :D bc in my head, afab subaru probably looks almost exactly the same. in general, canon subaru’s most likely at least a little androgynous (and i think he probably is judging off of how much he passes as the opposite sex!!), and we know hes got his dad’s spiky black hair and his mom’s mean eyes and general facial shape, has a long torso, that sort of thing, so i think afab subaru would look similar :o

plus i like to treat fembaru as basically just the mirror/foil/inverse of canon amab subaru anyway, so yep natsumi schwartz is gonna be her male persona!! canon amab subaru was mistaken as a girl when he was a child, and he also went to high school (iirc it was high school but at the very least he was about the same age he is during arc 1) for three days as natsumi yes and passed for three days. iirc he would put on the girl’s uniform and wig and stuff on the way to school and out of his parents’ view and then put on the male uniform and take off the wig before he got home!! plus you know he’d generally practice makeup most likely and wig styling and all sorts of things in private.

so definitely afab subaru is doing similar stuff but in the opposite direction now—looking more masc and presenting as a boy. while amab subaru can put on and take off a wig, in my head, afab subaru would probably have to have shorter hair. so one day she just got a haircut thats short enough to where she could style it masculinely but longer enough to where it could still be kinda considered feminine enough!!

im not 100% sure how to draw her hair yet but in my earlier post and a few of my sketches it kinda looks like either a long mullet/wolfcut or a messy bob :3 i think you could probably say that her hair looks more like a wacky bob when shes more feminine and a wolfcut when shes styling it more masculinely?

i also base my fembaru design off of canon natsumi!! with the side bang (though i sometimes draw it on the wrong side akdnd)!! meanwhile fembaru’s male natsumi would have canon amab subaru’s hair :) (which you can see in my earlier post as well!!)

i also like to hc that on top of subaru wanting to look and act more like his dad in canon, he did also kinda want to resemble his mom when hes presenting more femininely :o also for genderbend aus it depends on whether you ONLY want to genderbend subaru or if you wanna genderbend everyone along with subaru too, that sort of thing. i like to play with both possibilities :o

but in general, i like the idea of subaru either way trying to honor both her mom and dad. maybe to subaru her mom is what an ideal woman should be perhaps, and her dad is the ideal man, bc subarus parents are her biggest role models, so she tries to emulate both at different points in her life. she tries to be the perfect soft sweet girl like her mom and it doesnt work. she leans into being a bit of a delinquent and it doesnt work. then she cuts her hair and learns to present more masculinely and tries to copy her dad only to fail again. :((( then she gets isekaied……

i feel like afab subaru might get a bit more shit for getting into trouble too :(( or for being too loud. shes not very traditionally ladylike, i think!! boys will be boys and of course your daughter takes after you, kenichi, but dont you think shes a little too rough around the edges now?

anyway otherwise in general, i also like the idea that over the course of each arc in the fantasy world, subaru grows her hair out!! and once its long enough she can put it into a ponytail like her mom again :,)))

also i like to give fembaru the maid dress instead of the butler outfit!!! probably not with the garter and stuff but 😭😭 its a pretty dress and fembaru should get to express herself both masculinely and femininely :3 in my head, i think subaru would be shy bc AGHH THIS DRESS IS SO REVEALING THERES NO WAY ID LOOK GOOD IN THIS IM NOT PRETTY AT ALL and rem and ram (genderbent or not) are probably like nonsense just try the dress. its your uniform to work here. and subaru does and huhhhh. maybe i dont look half bad ? :,) (bc of course subaru’s insecurities either present themselves the same or slightly different when genderbended). and of course when rem and ram warm up to subaru eventually ram can be like “you dont look as bad as i thought youd look” or something and rem can be like “subaru-kun youre very beautiful anyways!!!! <3”

and also i do think subaru would cut her hair a bit again or style it different for natsumi adventures later in arc 7 <3 just to have that symmetry again. the situation probably might go a little different but yep this is how id handle it 👍

and of course you can give subaru the canon natsumi hair bow sometimes when shes feeling fancy :3

OKAY and now im gonna talk about more character stuff!! lets talk about subarus whole thing with isekai and genre savviness and all that.

one of canon subaru’s many many Many parts making him up as a character and making up his story in general is a deconstruction of the isekai genre!! power fantasy and characters being cardboard cutouts for the male mc to triumph without a struggle—that sort of thing. but afab subaru is a female lead now, and female isekai is different.

id have to do way more research into this and watch more female isekai and shoujo and stuff (ive been Really wanting to watch im in love with the villainess…… someday i will…..). buuut from what ive noticed so far it seems like for male lead isekai the fantasy here is the Power and Prestige, but female lead isekai’s fantasy seems to be the Romance!! not that you cant have OP abilities in female lead isekais and not that every isekai is 100% the same of course. but that seems to be the common tropes from what ive seen so far? male isekai protags have girls throwing themselves at him as trophies, female lead isekais have their male romantic interests and the evil evil villainesses are defeated somehow and perfectly out of the way <3 the fantasy is that youll be loved by The One—the perfect boy(s) <3

and i think amab subaru is less likely to check out much female lead isekai but i think itd be fun if afab subaru would probably focus on female lead isekai but also a bit on male lead isekai as well!! she wants that absolute path to glory AND love. (and ahahhahahaha please ignore the gazillion ikemen anime figurines in her room hahahahahhahhahahahah AND DEFINITELY IGNORE THE SILVER HAIRED ONES. ESPECIALLY THE ONLY GIRL FIGURINE SHE HAS THATS BEEN GATHERING DUST UNDER HER BED—)

but also bc i think amab subarus more likely to go nah i wont look at girly media while maybe afab subarus like godddddddd i want instant OP abilitiessssssssssss and godddddddd i want hot girls around m—WHAT. WHAT. WHO SAID THAT WHO SAID THAT—

anyway so subaru gets isekaied and shes like SWEEETTT A NEW BEGINNING AWAY FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO MEET EXPECTATIONS HAHAHAHAHA IM THE ISEKAI PROTAG!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!! (is about to get her shit rocked). and shes like ooooh do i have any abilities (nope) and oooohhhhhh shit do i have a villainess. AM I THE VILLAINESS???? no way right. anyway lol wheres the ikemen who’ll ill marry one day. the ikemen that falls in love….. with a commoner……… like myself teehee… and they get married…… and the villainess is CONQUERED….

anyway so what im saying is. ………….fembaru is a femcel. AND a pick me. AND a disaster bisexual. you could practically imagine a vine boom after each of those.

i think the biggest most important to me with genderbend aus is keeping the humanity of the characters the same the best i can!! and fembaru is STILL subaru, of course shes fucking cringe!! of course shes got a heart of gold but its under layers of cringe!!! of course shes a nerd who doesnt have any friends at first and trips and stumbles through all the shit being thrown her way!!

also if male subaru is bi then so is fem subaru okay. we’re equal opportunity here. and also amab subaru has issues with his masculinity and uhhhh slight things with women (see: his boob comments in season 1…….. subaru i love you but cmon man). so. afab subaru i think has got a terrible case of internalized misogyny / homophobia / PROBABLY SOME COMPHET TOO LMFAO 😭😭

SO YEAH THEN SUBARU RBDS :,,)))) so like. do you get what im saying. emisuba and remsuba and satella are subaru’s first sapphic heartbreaks and heartaches. muahahaha!!!! insert more evil laughter here!!!! bc since subarus a girl her relationships with emisuba and remsuba are definitely gonna be perceived (both by other people and rem emilia subaru) more so as friendships first and foremost.

so….. subarus getting the codependent homoerotic teenage friendship bright and early HAH. but i cannot blame her!! i too would go insane if i was put in a new unfamiliar world and i met this cute girl i was both jealous of and a little into and then we both died and the last thing i felt was searing pain and her soft fingertips!!! i too would go insane if i thought this maid was my friend but then she tortured me and—and—

but yeah you know how amab subaru has his whole weird complex bromances with reinhard and julius and otto?? now itll be like that but with emilia (the julius and reinhard…) and rem (the otto….). emilias the girl subaru’s having “do i wanna be her or be with her” weird rivalry shit with (subaru’s internalized misogyny probably also adding to this bc Obviously theyre rivals) and rem’s the girl who brutally betrays subaru personally (worlds worst homoerotic teenage friendship breakup of all time 😭😭) but then she later becomes subaru’s loyal best friend???? crazy shit.

and like emilia and rem are totaaally villainesses in subaru’s way (except emilias sweet af and misjudged by the entire world and subaru doesnt have the heart to fight rem and also shes chugging copium and trying not to think about failed loops. or about her gay feelings). toxic yuri is toxic yuri-ing. subaru doesnt wanna be explicit about it….. emilia isnt sure of her feelings other than stuff like caring a lot abt subaru… and rem is. Rem. so theyre all in gay situationship limbo HAH.

also as an afab person too rip subaru for also having periods while the whole world is ending on repeat 😭😭 LMFAOO. im sure theres medieval fantasy remedies though (and rem is 1000% spoiling subaru on her period)

also no one can tell me that echidna and rem WOULDNT still be into subaru as much as they are in canon. subaru regardless of gender fascinates echidna and her greed. subaru regardless of gender is someone rem will grow very very attached to. and if anything, rem would get way more bold with afab subaru.

bc the thing with female relationships is that i feel like theres a higher level of intimacy that you gotta go to for it to be considered more romantic or homoerotic. with guys it could be like holding hands and other people might be like WOAH THATS GAY, but if girls do the same thing its like aww youre such good friends. i think rem would take advantage of her and subaru being the same sex and she’d probably keep trying like “hey um um wanna cuddle together?? in the same bed?? and bathe together teehee?? i can help do your hair and dress you up? and make lots of cute dresses for you ? :) <3 🥰 and i can even massage your bo—I MEAN YOUR BACK. YOUR BACK!!” or it’ll be like. rem gets a little too happy that her and subaru’s periods get synced up or something 😭😭 shes Not Normal (and unfortunately subarus probably a little too into that)

also unfortunately the other time a girl touched subaru intimately was satella squeezing her heart :(((( and hahahah between that and rem and emilia and later echidna…. ohhhh poor subaru and her terrible toxic yuri 😭😭 her sapphic experiences and experiences with women have not been 1000% great.

but also of course subaru is so very not normal. you have the canon typical “lol every memory is a good one <3 even rem torturing me teehee <33” and also i just think itd be funny if you as an audience is lead to believe subarus jealous of emilia and rem’s boob sizes and no. no shes just gay. shes GAY.

and stuff like everything going on with julius and otto gets recharacterized too. bc subarus a girl and the guys are guys its probably gonna get perceived more both in and out of universe in a more. Quite Literally Straightforward light. esp bc subaru’s still gonna be into reinhard and julius lbr HAH.

i want arc 3 to still be an absolute fucking disaster with fembaru. let fembaru be flawed and ugly!!!! so in my au thoughts here itd be like. subaru feels jealous and threatened by lots of people. emilia, though its subsided a bit after becoming friends and after learning a bit more abt emilia as a person. but also i think subaru could feel so so jealous of the royal candidates!! esp crusch priscilla anastasia even though subaru will 1000% think theyre bitches at first during arc 3. bc theyre such strong determined women who seem way more confident than subaru herself is…. and also im sure there’ll be complex thoughts from her on felix too bc crossdressing… gender presentation… is a complex thing for subaru.

and subaru with julius is like. “get away from emilia!!!! shes mine!!! shes MY best friend that im homoerotically codependent on and obsessive of!!!! and also youre just trying to steal reinhard’s ikemen male lead spot huh!!!!! bastard!!!! (i hate that youre so pretty too)” and everything of course blows up in subaru’s face. im sure at some point in the story subaru might get slutshamed for having all these connections to people and romantic threads (especially since shes afab) but also its like. wow shes such a stupid girl lol causing a racket.

and uh being a man beating up a girl looks a little worse due to gender roles and stuff but lot of the knights are still gonna want to go after subaru and julius is still gonna want to save subaru. :,,)))) arc 3 emisuba breakup….. worlds worst sapphic breakup of all time…. and later rem will be the one that got away also :(((((

but yeah i think in general this subaru’s connections would be a little more. subtexty with the girls bc she’d be more hesitant to be explicit. but a bit more explicit with the guys bc itll be easily perceived as romantic in and out of universe. and of course subaru i think will be flustered in different ways between the girls vs guys—with the girls its OHH GOD I CANT BE GAY I CANT BE GAY NOOOOO I HAVE A RIVALRY!!! IM SO JEALOUS OF THEM!! BUT. BUT I LIKE THEM!! OHH GOD. with the guys its OH NO. GOOD LOOKING GUYS???? FML. FML!!!!! WHERES MY MAIN CHARACTER CHARM??? HOW DO I TALK TO GUYS???? JULIUS STOP MAKING FUNNOF ME!!! >:(((

also brief note on otto bc things are probably gonna go different here qkdnd. like i definitely am of course of the opinion that otto fell in love with subaru. in every damn arc in every damn main route otto side content hes getting unhinged over subaru in a way that i think makes a little less sense if you dont view it as otto just Not Being Normal About Subaru in a perhaps vaguely homoerotic way.

but subarus afab now!! and ottos still a guy!!! and reinhard and julius are friendly with subaru right, but at around arc 4 things they dont show explicit romantic interest. (i think arc 5-6+ julisuba and juliemisuba would be 👀👀👀 though.) but otto?? in a universe where subaru is a girl??? well now its more acceptable for him to be grow openly head over heels for subaru. but also its probably also more pathetic bc now its probably gonna be more obviously taken as otto having a crush on subaru.

and subarus had her arc 3 development right. but here its like. you wanted a male character who’d fall in love with you and be loyal to you and do Anything for you???? here you go!!! but also given otto is Like That and gets worse by arc 7-8 i think hes gonna seem a bit more sinister. not that canon otto with canon subaru isnt sinister but theres different connotations to male otto paired with female subaru. bc it sort of follows straight dark romance rules, right, with the cunning possessive male love interest and the female protagonist…

i doubt anything explicit would go on between otto and subaru in an au like this bc 1. otto and his avoidant attachment LMFAO and 2. subaru and her issues also and 3. subaru in main route is Not as into otto to the same extent or degree otto is HAH.

and fembarus probably like. i think itd be funny if she was a little disappointed otto wasnt a girl 😭😭😭 but then later hes weird about crossdressing and shes like why dont you wanna do it huh 👁👁👁👁 why are you weird about it 👁👁👁👁 im staring at your glass closet right now—

and also its like. “WHY ARE YOU THE FIRST BOY TO ACTUALLY BE IN LOVE WITH ME WHAT???” which i think is hilarious but i also think it could be fascinating in terms of playing with gender!! bc otto may want to be in control of things, but hes also so subservient to subaru anyway. otto and subaru are both androgynous; otto can pass as a girl and subaru can pass as a boy. if you wanna simplify things further you could also explain this as—otto is a man who looks like a woman who’s pledged his servitude to a woman who looks like a man. very intriguing imo!!

but of course ottosuba power dynamics are Always shifting over and over like a game of tug of war, but the most common thing is that otto will bow his head to subaru but under the surface ottos trying to be in charge. that sort of thing!! and the idea of male otto servicing female subaru is an idea rezero ao3 seems to like also but :,) lets just say its not fully to my taste haha :,,))

and otto is definitely not gonna beat up subaru’s ass so easily this time around bc itd look so bad and he’d know that lmfao 😭😭

but i think theres a lot of potential to play around with gender roles and such with all of these dynamics!! im very passionate about making my genderbend au ideas as wild and layered as possible :o !!

Please tell me if you're seeing this, too. Today I found out that the Archives of Ontario digitised more of the pictorial material in their Simcoe family fonds collection, and among tons of sketches and watercolours by the lifelong prolific Elizabeth and some that weren't in her style, but may have been works by friends or her children, there are these three silhouettes:

To state the obvious, the sitters seem to have been portrayed by the same artist, and were a group of two women and a gentleman.

The two women, wearing a simlar bun-like hairstyle, also share similar facial features; both have the same chin and nose. Only the volume of the hair, the softer line between chin and neck in the first woman and the suggestion of a sheer shawl imply that she may be older than the second lady.

The gentleman is rather portly with more than a hint of a double chin and wears a queued wig.

Now, I was curious as to who these people could be, and...

Could they be Samuel Graves, Margaret Graves and Elizabeth Simcoe?

The hairline of the wig rising from the forehead at an almost right angle and chin seem very similar. I'm not quite sure about the nose, but that might have to do with the shadows in the portrait.

Same pointy chin, same rather remarkable nose.

Sadly I have, save for an almost cartoonishly exaggerated doodle of her as an old woman, never seen another portrait of any sort of Margaret Graves.

However, assuming that I could be correct and these are Samuel and his adoptive niece, then it would only make sense for the second woman to be Margaret. Besides, Elisabeth had, save for two paternal aunts, no female relatives of whom you'd expect any sort of facial resemblance. Why would any of the two paternal aunts be depicted with Elizabeth's maternal aunt's husband?

If I'm correct here, and the three are The Three, then these silhouettes were probably made by Mary Anne Burges during one of her extended stays with the Graves' whenever she needed to escape her somewhat troublesome home life. If Mary Anne is the artist, these would have had to have been made prior to 30 December 1782, when Elizabeth (then still Gwillim) married her uncle's godson, a certain John Graves Simcoe. In that case, the Archives of Ontario would be wrong by a full decade, having dated the silhouettes to the 1790s.

Now, I could be wrong of course, because naturally I want my theory to be true, but if I were correct, that would be quite exciting.

Documenting Fox Spirit Matchmaker fan nonsense Part 1/x

White-haired Cheng Yi is back so I went to Twitter and Weibo to see the chaos and was not disappointed. Since I am at the mercy of Google translate when trawling through Weibo it makes the experience extra trippy. Fans are going feral over this look in the most entertaining way. Deserved tbh.

The visuals of this drama look like they will truly be S+ tier.

There's very intricate detailing in the dragon hair accessory, leather armor, textures of the fabric and belt decor. A lot of it looks done by hand. The dragon is so well made it looks like it could unwrap itself from his hair and fly away.

Next, the hair. A cosplayer and professional costume designer 真的菜菜 commented on the difficulties of white hair in costume dramas here. First, the wig has to be made from real hair to look and move naturally. Then it has to be bleached so only very good quality hair can be used and it is very expensive. More so if the wig is long. Finally, this hair color is "unforgiving" to skin tone and facial features. Not everyone looks good. But Cheng Yi pulls it off very well. She also said Ying Yuan’s white hair is really the most beautiful white hair style she has seen.

Lastly, the fit and look of the overall costume. The hair, black/gold combination and the cut of the outfit are very, very flattering. Cheng Yi is pretty much a walking clothes hanger (lean build, fairly tall, long neck, long limbs, small waist) but somehow this costume makes his neck and legs look longer and emphasizes his waist. In the first picture, he's just tilting his head back so the stylist can fix his hair...why does he look so good?

Why did Roxanne, Erin and Kelsey all switch from the side pony tail to the braid and back pony tail? Roxanne's old Parr wig was one of the best of any production, and to switch out both Erin and Kelsey's wigs when they're different from what Gabriella wore or what they used to wear just feels bizarre

Wig design is basically about trying to take the typical standardized styles and translate them to the individual actors’ faces, hair/skin tones, and textures. (Here’s a great in-depth post Sofia did that goes into more detail about this and talks about Roxanne Couch’s change too). In this case, the mid-ponytails are more flattering on them than the side.

Some styles just work better than others for different facial shapes - some people look better with a high up do, with a low, half pulled back, all down, bangs, whatever. In Roxanne’s case, the side ponytail was a little too harsh; the new wig softens and flatters her face more subtly. Similar reason for Erin Ramirez/Marilyn Caserta/Kelsee Kimmel as well. The old styles weren’t bad on them, and it was nice on Roxanne particularly! But the new styling is a better fit for all of them.

It’s also pretty heavily based on hair texture. The initial side Parr styling was based on a style sometimes worn by Alicia Keys, and the hairstyle is primarily worn by Black women. As such it's based on a range of hair types and textures that we mostly see in (some) Black women: defined, soft, loose curls with a lot of volume. If you're familiar with hair typing, it's going to work best with hair in the type 3 categories (here's a good introductory article with examples). It's a gorgeous style that can look lovely! It was very flattering on Maiya Quansah-Breed and has continued to work well for queens with similar hair styles. But Six has struggled from the start with adapting it to other hair types and textures. Most of the other Six hairstyles are generic enough that they can be adapted to different textures with minimal change to the overall aesthetic. The original Parr not so much, because it really needs that specific combo of qualities for the hairstyle to work. If you have the looseness but don't have the right curl or the volume it looks too flat and asymmetrical, which we saw with Gabriela Carrillo's initial hairstyle; if you go for the curl but go too short or structured it's just not going to flatter as many of the actors and you've lost that really lovely softness, which we've seen with quite a few of the non-Black actors' styles. Many of the Black actors naturally have the hair texture(s) and type(s) that lend itself well to the hairstyle, so they've generally had a lot of success with those. For the Black actors that don't, they've generally A. adapted the hairstyle to work with their natural hair (usually for queens with enough volume that it still translates well, like Viquichele Cross or Danielle Steers), OR B. given them a wig that may not quite match their natural hair texture, but still looks natural and allows for the right texture/structure. (Generally queens in both camps have a type 4 hair texture and which they go for has depended on budget and hair care for the individual actor.) But for the non-Black actors, that's much more difficult. Very few non-Black actors have hair that's even remotely the right texture for this hairstyle: actors like Gabriela Carrillo and Roxanne Couch have some texture but not enough of the curl and volume needed, while actors like Erin Ramirez and Kelsee Kimmel have natural hair textures that are much closer to working but still don't quite work. They could give these actors a wig with a texture different than their own that would be more conducive to the style, but while doing so generally reads as natural on the Black queens, doing so for non-Black queens would often make the wig read as unnatural or even outright inappropriate. The UK has historically gotten around all that by doing the curly side ponytail. It does work fairly well, but it's still not flattering on everyone and the style they go for is visibly unnaturally curled, which isn't inherently bad but doesn't work as well for Parr as it does for some of the other queens (her whole vibe is very low fuss, or as low as it can be given the spectacle that is Six costumes). It's not a bad choice, and like you said Roxanne's was one of the best! But it's not going to work well for everyone, and for Roxanne specifically the switch to a back ponytail is a slightly better fit, and of course they've continued that trend since.

In the US (and NCL) there's been a whole lot of experimentation. The Aragon Tour alone has gone through multiple different hairstyles. Think Gabriela Carrillo's original Aragon Tour side-swept to her loose low side ponytail, compared to Kelsee Kimmel and Erin Ramirez's loose curly updos piled more directly on top of their heads. Over on the Boleyn Tour we've seen Tay Pearlstein with a smaller and more structured side updo, and then Sydney Parra with a looser and relatively longer side ponytail (which is one of my personal favorites, actually!). For Gabi and Sydney they experimented until they got to styles they ultimately were happy with, and now they're standardized to the current back ponytail iteration, but Erin/Kelsee/Tay never quite had that. TL;DR: Back ponytail is both more flattering on most of them + an easier style adaptation for some of the queens whose hair doesn't lend itself as well to the side ponytails.

Also quick note that there’s also nothing saying the alternates’ hairstyles have to be remotely identical to the principals! Six has never really gone for that anyway, beyond the usual standardization. Like I said, they experimented with Gabi's wig (over a longgg period of time) until they got to something they were happy with, but it seems like they just never got to that point with Erin/Kelsee/Tay/etc!

I posted a lot of my serennedy headcanons here a while ago, but for you I'll add that I think when Tangled comes out in 2010 Luis is obsessed with it and he insists that he is Flynn/Eugene and so he forces Leon to dress as Rapunzel that Halloween so he can be Flynn and it's just Leon in a two-sizes-too-small Rapunzel dress, he's wearing jeans underneath, and a shitty target wig with a plastic flower in the hair (yes this is a real thing I got it when I was 10.) And then Luis's costume looks super realistic and he even styles his facial hair the same way meanwhile Leon looks like he just escaped a bunch of 10 year olds giving him a terrible make over

I also think Luis used to love bugs as a kid but then when the novistadors are created he hates bugs because of them :'(

The Ainley!master's hair tier list.

Now I said I'd write an essay (which this could end up as to be honest) on the Masters hair in 'The kings demons', but that's not happening (unless I have a silly moment) but a tier list is happening.

I need people to know that I did hair, makeup and SFX at uni so I do not actually shut up about any of this. Also included are Tremas and some of the Masters disguises. This probably isn't all his appearances but it's all the ones I've seen so let's go ✌️

Tah dahh! So pretty. Now let's get chatting, starting at the bottom:

D TIER:

The ultimate foe, part of trials of a timelord. It's flat, his hair is always slicked back yes but, something about it in this, it's not insanely bad but it's not that good either.

Kings demons: Sir Gilles Estram (?) the wig itself isn't bad but sommat about the eyebrows and beard make me nauseous, maybe it's just the character itself I don't know.

Castrovalva: See 'The ultimate foe'.

C TIER

Keeper of Traken/Mark of the rani: again, nothing too exciting, just more loose than the D tier ones,, not bad.

B TIER

Portreeve- the wig is giving, they have to stop giving Ainley these (presumably) lace front wigs, like hello?? It looks so well made and I would love to make a beard like that (I'm not brave enough to hand make beards (yet). The style of the wig as well, the curls at the bottom?? The hair line?? Perfection! Also I know it's not hair but the facial SFX??? Hello??? I assume latex aging (if so Ainley is a brave soul, that shit hurts to peel off esp a full face). I say so many positive things but don't have it in S tier. Probably cause it's not my fave visually.

Survival- Now I know this is very much like those lower tier styles,,, I was going to say grey bits in his hair but I fear I'm seeing things so I'm going to speak about the beard and say that's why it's up there. It's wider and works very well for this, it goes out a bit wider and is also a bit lighter suggesting maybe the start of grey hair coming in,, girls getting older. Maybe this look is boring and basic but the episode survival just pushes it up. And the teeth??? I love when shows have good SFX teeth. I should really research how they did SFX teeth back then,,, it's probably the same as now really,, who knows.

What I'm going to assume is logopolis (I'm probably wrong) and city of fire, same as basic hair just has a better volume,,, who knew such small changes could make such a difference. I feel people don't notice these things but I do spend 90% of my time when watching TV shows looking at the hair.

A TIER

The five doctors/time flight- same shape but has more fluffier bits, feels more real or something I don't know, it just looks nicer! Could be on top but isn't the best show of this fluffy hair vibes. Also I don't know if it's a random shadow or sommat but I think I can see the master's beard lace line in the five doctors,,, but that's probably just me looking too hard.

S TIER

Destiny of the doctors- now I mentioned the greys earlier but this is what I'm TALKING ABOUT, wowie ! Idk if his hair is a wig or not,, but either way by god ! I'm so glad they didn't give him dark hair, he looks so good in this whole thing!!! AHHH!! Peak hair fr, AND !! It's slightly fluffy, not that stupid flat hair,,, perfect combo !

Keeper of traken/Tremas- megaslay with this whole look, I'm planning on hand making this wig/beard combo at some point that's how much I love it. The wig is just stunning, so sleek and nice and I originally didn't think the beard worked but it works, the hair frames the beard as well which is neato. The traken hairstyles actually mean so much to me oml. How the men's hair seems to be a sleek shoulder length cut and the women all have curls (at least the main cast idk about the background cast). I love when a planet has a set style 😝.

The kings demons: when I said the right about of fluffiness I mean this, the waves the looseness of the hair AHHHHHHHH! Love that, I eat it up. Idk why but it brings a sense of youthfulness to him. I get y'all r analysing the 5/Ainley stuff in that chameleon scene in the kings demons but all I'm doing is looking at the masters hair ! His hair isn't even like pulled straight back it goes to the side a bit, ugh it's perfect.

TLDR: Warsaw Cori and Tanto's design got changed big way halfway through stage rehershals and here's how i figured it out

I am seething

We were potentially robbed of the Queen of the Night inspired Warsaw Cori and Tanto

The widow's peak, the ears doing the buns, the long blue hair giving the veil vibe, the very pale and plain but eye-heavy make up

Coincidence? I think not

Cori seems be be pretty much the same but with bit less of a hair-veil and potentially some facial hair

And that's it, those 3 photos from Dec 13, 2003 rehershal are all i have of them like that, the next time they appear in rehershal photos in costume is on Dec 22 where they look like this:

And then finally like this around/at the premiere:

I have no idea if that early look was actually Queen of the Night inspired, although it is very possible given that it is confirmed that at least one Warsaw costume is movie inspired, and that recording of "The Magic Flute" came out in 2003 so right as they were working on Warsaw, plus like it very much looks like it

I think either it's a very heavy case of "just trust the process" with the wigs and makeup just being halfway done on the 13th and then mostly finished within the next week (which makes sense given it was just a few weeks before the premiere)

Or Queen of the Night/smth of the sort was their initial concept but they changed it around that time, had it done by the next week and those wigs were just a placeholder or a leftover from the initial design

Which could be the case as in those 2 group photos there's also a completly wigless Skimble (cut out when I zoomed in on the twins), and I have undated wigmaker's shop photos where they are working on Skimble wigs and what very much could be psychic twins wigs given the use of the blue fur (as opposed to the blue hair in both those Queen-esque and other characters' wigs)

So yeah, I have no idea what actually happend here

My only theory, if it was in fact a change, is that either London said "change it", or that someone realized it would make them look just like the rest of the cast aka "normal". And in their final design their thing is that they look way more cat than everyone else and it heavily differents them from the rest, at least visually, so maybe there's smth to this

Now i wish there was a version of Warsaw where that Queen of the Night vibe prevailed, or at least just a few more photos from those early stage rehersals

UPDATE a day later

I just realized it must have been a change of concept or smth because of how the costume cration process went. It was clothes - wigs - makeup, and it's confirmed in the Warsaw book by the makeup designer. This photo very much proves it

The characters whose make up is fully done, like Victoria, Fraszka, Turbo Ptyś and Munk (Vic and Fraszka even got their falsies on) have their wigs also fully done (although Munk's isn't fully styled)

Those whose wigs are about halfway done like Jelly, Bomba and Etcetera, have their makeup either halfway done or barely started

And Cori and Tanto very clearly got their make up fully ready, it's as crisp as any of the others' who have their's fully done and I am pretty sure Tanto got false eyelashes on. Which tells me that their wigs in this photo are either fully done or generally done but not fully styled

And coming back to the wigless Skimble (on the very right of this ^ photo) and the wigmaker's shop photos, it tells me they were probably taken around the same time. And judging by this photo, his wigs are about halfway done (they're mostly missing the long strands on the sides)

But the blue, definetly most likely psychic twins wigs, look to be started just now, when they very much should already be (mostly) finished. And sure, there were few character's (most notably pink Jenny) who's makeup was fully done when their wigs were still worked on, but it was "oh they're missing a few pieces in the back", not "their wig looks like a completly different one"

Which tells me that most likely something happened during those early to mid Dec rehershals, someone changed their mind or smth and they decided to fully rework the psychic twins' wigs and make up. Idk maybe the director liked the concept on paper and actors but not on stage, maybe London was asked to confim the finished design and they were like "nope, change it". Who knows, not me

All in all, i am ever so slightly salty about this change cuz it was a pretty cool design, but i do love a lot the one they ended up with and i think it works well on stage so no hard feelings there

Maybe if i'm lucky i'll stumble upon some more photos from that Queen-esque look time cuz yeah, it's really cool and i wish i had more of it

For the prompt “love the hair” for @deanobingo, I will be running a poll tournament to crown the winner of “Deano character with the best hair”. Some looks are shared between characters and then I just decided to go with the character I associate the look most with. But please keep in mind that it is the hair styles (including facial hair) that are competing – not the characters.

My list of reasons to love Eddie Munson

"Why do you like him?" is the most asked question related to my brainrot since may 27 of 2022. And now i'm here to answer that question, and maybe bring you into our fandom too.

1 - his unconventional beauty

Some people I know were confused as to why I love him, they asked why I feel attracted to him because he was "an ugly man", which I completely disagree with.

He has features that are attractive but are not part of society's beauty standards. Some of them would be his facial marks, his eyebags, messy hair, crooked teeth (yes! you may have never noticed, but he does have crooked teeth, look in that bts picture of him smiling before having his wig fully done), in some moments a double chin, a bigger belly. But it turned out that they look absolutely beautiful on him, and he teached me how to love them just by looking and admiring his features. People say "eww he's ugly", but these features are so cute and even attractive when you look closely, I started loving and admiring each one of them. It turned out that I fell for his personality now I love him completely. These demisexuals nowadays.

2 - his confidence

He doesn't care about what people think of him. I know that in some scenes he's very tough and hard to deal with, that's one of his almost-flaws (he's only like this to people who treat him or his friends badly), but overall he has a confidence to envy. I believe, personally, that he only acts like this because he's scared of showing that he's insecure inside, because of all the bullying he had to deal with. You can see the sad tone in his voice when he says "hunt the freak, right?". But he's not ashamed of himself, he likes to do whatever he wants and to be the way he is, talk about the things he likes, act in his own way. He's very original, and I kinda like that on him. Doesn't care about other people's opinions (but they get to him sometimes, which is kinda sad. That's also another reason of why I love him, I wanna take care of this boy. His kind heart deserves to be loved).

3 - his kind heart

He is so gentle and kind to people he knows that are not bad. Usually he is afraid of getting close to someone, cause everybody judges and hates him, and that's why he has a tough shell, but if you treat him like a normal person he will absolutely consider you as a friend. He may think twice at first, but once you show him your real kind nature, he becomes the guy he really is. He cares so much about making people happy when they're sad, he cares about making outcast people less lonely, he cares about your safety and if you're comfortable with the situation. You can see it in the "Chrissy in the woods" scene.

4 - his funny dork behavior

He is unpredictable. When you least expect he's throwing himself of his chair. All he wanna do is make people laugh, especially when they are having a bad day. He's naturally funny, he makes faces, funny comments, and knows exacly what to do to make a person's day a little better, or to deal with someone who's mocking at him or one of his friends (He actually doesn't. He doesn't know what he's doing, he's very confused actually).

5 - his respect for woman

6 - his badass clothing and style (he's so cool omg)

He knows about the difference between him and a girl, the physical difference, the (unfortunate) social difference. Even maybe not knowing a lot about womanhood in general, he knows that they should be treated with respect, mostly because people forgot about that and probably because his uncle teached him to do it since he was a little kid. He helps them climb difficult places, open doors for them, even hold them during an earthquake so that they won't get hurt, makes sure that they are comfortable and avoid touching their bodies without permission. In that earthquake scene with Robin he hold her so that she wouldn't get hurt, but his hand that was almost touching her chest backed off purposely, closing his fist so that his palm wouldn't accidentaly touch her without permission, and that's such a small detail. And in that scene with Chrissy, when she was being attacked by Vecna, Eddie was afraid of shaking her or hurting her while needing to use a little bit more strenght to wake her up. Unfortunately you know how it ended, but his behavior with her being obviously a female and smaller than him was such a cute action. So admirable.

That hair. That mf fluffy long beaufiful curly hair. I wanna run my fingers through it. I wanna kiss it, wash it, brush it, and make it looks the way it usually does again, but with perfume. I wanna kiss his whole face. That's it that's the post thank you so much for reading

His ringsssss oml his rings. The vest. His tatoos. The guitar pick necklace ⁉️‼️⁉️⁉️ that fckin guitar ‼️‼️⁉️‼️⁉️ he is so cool holy shit this guy played the solo of master of puppets in front of like 300 monster bats in the upside down. His bratty attitude. He has this mean behavior of John Bender but the kind heart of Patrick Verona. He's the combination of these two man. That's why I love him so much.

7 - he needs love

He's a badass dungeon master, and knows when to be tough and hard to deal with, but also knows when to be receptive and kind to people. And the best part is that he would love someone for what they are, for being a truly kind-hearted and non-judgemental person, his demands would be only these.

He deserves to be loved. Not a lot of people like him, even less love him. He needs a girlfriend to kiss him everyday and hug him until he sleeps and tell how much she loves him and admire his hobbies and be at his side everyday and bring so much love into his life

i can do that. yes eddie i would love to be your girlfriend. If you need someone please call me, would make you so happy that you would die out of happiness

DISTRACTION TIME! Been thinking a lot about Rhaenys’ hair recently (as one does), and would love any of your thoughts/feelings on the subject. Also, just how similar do you think it will be kept next season?

I think her hair is incredibly important to her character. Not just the style and shape of it, but the colour, the length, the aesthetic of it all and how it is used in a scene and what messages it sends us. And I really like the messaging, even if there are obviously some hairstyles I like more than others.

I think Rhaenys, as a character, and this is perhaps something that I get from Eve's talking about it, is that she's a woman of two worlds. She's incredibly feminine and delights in being feminine but she is also very strong, formidable and a dragon.

That's not to say that these two aspects are necessarily in conflict and don't complement one another or that by being strong she is somehow masculine, but more that it's two aspects that are predominant in her personality that are shown simultaneously through her clothing and her hair.

And also she uses it. This is a woman who cares about her appearance. And that extends as much to clothes and hair as it does to poise and facial expressions and mannerisms. Rhaenys barely wears the same hairstyle twice. She wears variations of the same style, but it changes from episode to episode, scene to scene. She's in four scenes of Episode 01. Guess how many hairstyles she has? Four. But there are things that are kept as a rule, bar a few exceptions, and those exceptions are either practical or to specifically tell us, the audience, that she is feeling out of sorts.

So there are "dragon wings", as I term them. These are the two pieces on either side of her head that are pinned up to the side and help create a silhouette. It's a lot harsher than the BTS hairstyle we have that we never see in an episode. I love it. I think it's a really clever and strong and memorable part of her hair. I think you're going to feel formal and poised and literally restrained with that happening in your hair, which makes sense. But as I say, they also remind me of wings so we're keeping the Targ' of it all.

Then we've got braids. These usually come with little accessories. The braids are symbolic of both her houses. Targaryens wear braids in their hair, but Velaryons also have locs. Some of her braids look Targ, and some look like she's specifically mimicking a Velaryon aesthetic and style.

And then just the whole idea that her hair is usually half up and half down. Other than when it's fully up (at the wake) or in a ponytail (Episode 10). It's both very girly and very strong. It's GREAT for dragon-riding because it is kept out of the face but free to the wind. So it fits in with her personality and preferences.

Then there's the whole trajectory and meaning behind when she has it the highest of the high for court events, against having it flat and undone, when she's off-guard or softer aka without her normal defences.

Hair is very important. Plus, they called her wig "Xena, Warrior Princess". Which makes me laugh.

Brain rotting about another thing, like, regarding my previous post.

I'm gonna go ahead and make it an x reader thing. Like, what if, the reader met buggy earlier. She is an orphan, she meets Buggy, they click, she see's Buggy as an Uncle and he see's Y/n as his niece.

Y/n actually has convinced him to be more of a good pirate, on the original town that Buggy was supposed to destroy in the anime, Y/n convinces Buggy not to do that and just rule over the island.

Buggy says it's not flashy enough until Y/n says that if he rules over the island and govern it properly, she'll dress up similarly to him and perform in his circus shows. And it is something Buggy wants so bad. So he does, and Y/n dresses up in a bodysuit clown outfit, it was colored like Buggy's, blue and white with hints of yellow and red. Y/n wore a corset, the bodysuit's color being blue. The corset being red with one side having white stars and the other white stripes. Having a white frilled turtleneck collar, the the edge that laid on her chest shaped like a semicircle coming up to her shoulders, small pompoms attached to her frilled collar as a replacement for buttons, colors switching between red and yellow. Bishop sleeves having white frills at the ends. Her legs being covered by white lace tights, her foot wear being heeled ankle boots, the colors on her left foot being being red with yellow stars, the right foot being colored blue with white polkadots while her hands were covered by white gloves.

Make up being done by Buggy himself, it was like Buggy's make up. Y/n wore a clown nose, being hit on the head by Buggy for the little stunt yet at the same time being praised for looking like "the flashiest man to ever be flashy". Y/n wore a blue wig, Buggy tying it into the same pigtail hairstyle he has, soon after helping Y/n put in yellow eye contacts.

When Y/n performed, the crowd went wild with every trick their whole circus performed. The final act being Y/n doing acrobatics and pulling stunts on the audience. The island was actually being taken good care of by Buggy and his crew, with Y/n helping once in a while with work.

Now, Buggy will still have yanderes on his a$$(Crocodile, Shanks and Mihawk) but does Y/n have them? Yes, she in fact does. Her yandere's being the rest of the anime cast. Yeah I know this is sort of boring, but the thing is, Buggy and Y/n doesn't really take it all that seriously. They're clowns okay??

But how would Buggy meet his yandere's and how does Y/n meet hers? Well, three years before Luffy set sail and he met Buggy, the clown duo would sometimes take off on the sea with some of their crew, the two clowns have visited Alabasta, adventuring in Alubarna and into the warlords famous casino. Y/n had coaxed Buggy to changing into normal clothes as to not gather too much attention, Buggy giving in when Y/n promised to perform in the next circus event on their little island.

Scenario:

Buggy sat on one of the stools, leaning on the counter of the bar. A rather relaxed expression painting over his facial features as he waited for his favorite and only niece, brows arched as he waited rather impatiently until a certain blue-wig wearing teen came hopping to him, wearing a white blouse with a pastel green strap square top dress, the skirt having a white checkered design. The girl's wig styled into low pigtails with her yellow contacts still in her eyes. Bouncing up on the stool next to Buggy with a smile as someone followed behind her, a chaperone that volunteered to look after Y/n, coming from the island they governed. Y/n stared at Buggy's outfit, proud of her work. The man wore a similar white blouse with a Navy blue vest over it, silver floral patterns intricately weaved onto it. The top paired with black pants, Buggy's hair was tied up into a ponytail, done by Y/n. The man wore a replica of Y/n's necklace.

Buggy scolded Y/n slightly for being slow, turning to her chaperone with a displeased frown, said chaperone averted his eyes while sweat-dropping, feeling a little down at their current rulers disappointment. Y/n quickly stood up from her seat, taking her Uncle's hand before dragging him somewhere around the casino. Her chaperone hastily trying to catch up with the duo.

The three were making a little noise, not enough to get the attention of the entire place, but enough to catch the attention of anyone within a ten feet distance. Y/n laughed as she continued dragging Buggy, the man grumbling but not fighting back while his niece's chaperone slightly yelled at them to slow down.

Y/n ran past a towering man and a tall woman, hand in hand with her uncle as she squealed when she tripped, bringing the big nosed man down with her. Buggy instantly shouting at his niece the moment they sat up, Y/n's chaperone helping them stand up and awkwardly standing beside Buggy with his hands tucked behind his back.

The trio was not ticked or bothered by the stares they gained, Milo, Y/n's chaperone was used to it. A certain warlord planted his eyes on the scene, eyes stilling on the vest wearing man with blue locks. The woman beside him was focused on the teen who only giggled at Buggy's scolding.

(Let's pretend that this is before Buggy earned his debt with Crocodile)

Okay so that's out of the way, how would Buggy meet Mihawk?? Well that's easy.

Another scenario:

It was rare but he did it, Mihawk had left the grand line, choosing to wander around East Blue. He had stopped on an Island, eyes roaming around as he noticed posters were stuck on the walls of a few buildings. Featuring the words "Circus Day!". The ever stoic man listened closely to the conversation of a group near him, taking note that they talked about a "King" and if the "princess" would perform today.

Curiosity piqued and feeling bored, the man decided to pay a visit(very unlikely, I know). Finding himself staring at the blue haired man that announced the start of the event, judging the outfit of the guy and the way he looked like a clown, unconsciously running his eyes all over the clowns facial features, devouring anything his outfit revealed to the world like a starved man. Catching himself humming shortly at the sound of Buggy's voice. He found the performance boring but nonetheless stayed, hoping that the clown from earlier would show up again, only to be disappointed when he didn't.

He was pleasantly surprised when at the final performance of the night, the man he was patiently waiting for came back out, yelling out that the final thing would be done by his one and only niece. Mihawk frowned when Buggy went out of his sight, his hands twitching as he held back the urge to stand up and follow the man. His eyes soon landing an a woman with the same blue hair that Buggy had.

Mihawk went back to the grand line with a newfound memory, the first and most valuable to him being the blue haired clown that announced the event and the second being said clowns niece who looked like the man he wanted to see the most in that event. Mihawk made a mental note to go back on the island after awhile. Now having a yearning to see the silly and unreasonable clown that caught his attention and planted an unidentified feeling in him.

Okay so that's that, and do I even have to explain how Buggy met Shanks??? But like, imagine that in the future, when Buggy and Y/n are getting chased by their perspective Yandere's, they stay on this island. At this time, Y/n had eaten a devil fruit, the DF being called the Fake Fake fruit where Y/n can make illusions that will feel real and actually is real until Y/n reverses or undo's her trick.

So while they're getting chased, Y/n Yandere's doesn't actually know that Y/n is Buggy's niece or that her blue "hair" and yellow "eyes" were real. It had been about a month after they narrowly escaped Buggy's captors. With the help of Y/n ofcourse, so on the island they stayed on, they made a plan.

Y/n never wore her beloved wig while they were loose and still running from their captors. She was a natural actor and played as a patient and quiet woman that couldn't lie. The complete opposite of how the real Y/n was, and being the icon that he was, Buggy was also an expert at acting. Y/n used her devil fruit to change her Uncle's appearance.

Changing his long, beautiful blue locks into short and clean dark brown hair. Changing his eye color to black and changing his nose to a regular one, no matter how weird it felt. Buggy acted like a complete gentleman on their stay on the island they had stopped on, keeping calm and composed whenever trouble brewed. Again, a complete opposite to how really is.

Let's hope that when a certain yonko and two former shichibukai visit, they're cover doesn't get blown up.

Hey! Since it seems like goth women's fashion is a lot easier to find examples of and information about, I've decided to create a short visual guide to a good, basic look you can do as a male or masc goth! Note that this is intended as a guide for more casual, everyday wear; for a fancier goth style, like a vampire or Victorian goth look, this might not be the right guide.

For a good, basic, every day casual goth look, here's what I like to do.

Let's start with shoes. I typically wear black Dr. Martens with platforms. They can be bought new or used, and I recommend real leather, as it's much longer lasting and more environmentally friendly. But Docs are expensive. If they're not in your budget, any similar black boot will do. You can also get creative and do a different kind of black boot, or, if you manage to get your hands on some, a pair of winklepickers (also known as goth pikes) are a classic look!

The next thing to look at is pants. You'll probably want a nice, simple pair of black jeans. I would recommend skinny jeans, but if they're not comfortable or you don't like the look, a pair of straight or athletic jeans, or anything else should work! That being said, I'd stick to black (or something else that you feel looks gothy). Normal or ripped are both great!

After that, a completely optional step is a belt or several layered belts (black if possible). Not everyone wears them, but one or more edgy belts are another classic look with a deathrocker vibe. Some fun options are belts with chains and O rings, studs, or bullets. A wallet chain is also an option.

Over that, a classic staple in any goth wardrobe is a black goth band shirt. This is a way to show you know the music, look cool, and support bands you love - many bands make the majority of their profits as musicians from merch!

One thing you can do, especially for a more tradgoth or deathrocker look, is to add either fishets or a layer or two of ripped tights as sleeves under the t-shirt. Not everyone does this, but it's a fun element for extra flair. If you go with fishnets, I recommend getting tights and simply ripping or cutting a hole in the crotch rather than buying a shirt, because it's much cheaper, and because the ripped look is cool.

On top of that, you'll probably want a jacket. Some people wear trench coats. Some people wear a black denim vest or jacket with patches, studs, or spikes (again, this is more common among deathrockers). Some wear a black leather jacket; it could be new or vintage, real or pleather, and plain or covered in painted band logos/patches/spikes. Some even wear distressed sweaters. Most goths prefer black, regardless of what you go for, and if it's got spikes or patches, most goths DIY them rather than buying them like that. Patches are another way to show off your love and support for bands.

You may also want to add jewelry. Some goths wear a lot of creepy rings. Many wear chokers or necklaces, and often layer them; some classic ones are rosaries, ankhs, and bats. Many goths of all genders and sexualities also wear black nail polish. If you choose to wear facial piercings, avoid tribal ones. They're culturally appropriative and will alienate marginalized people and lead to people getting upset with you.

If you have hair, you have several options for styling it. Most goths choose to dye their hair black, but some may bleach it, keep it natural, or color it. Some may even choose to wear different wigs for different occasions. How you style it is up to you, but many choose to style it by backcombing/teasing it, applying a strong hairspray (got2be Glued is typically the most recommended), and using a hair dryer to make it stay in place (there are several tutorials for this on YouTube). Alternatively, you can simply leave it long (this is a less classic look, but many goths do it). Many, especially deathrockers like to style their hair in a deathhawk, which is a mohawk or crest hairstyle with backcombed hair. (There is some debate about whether this is culturally appropriative or not. I've met someone online who claimed to be from the Kanien'kehá:ka Tribe (the indigenous name for the tribe) who told me they don't consider it appropriative because the original hairstyle involves plucking, not shaving the hair, and involves a certain amount of ritual and spiritual significance; this person also said they don't think it should be called a Mohawk because it's not the same hairstyle as the one associated with the tribe. That being said, I'd never met them before and don't know if they were being honest with me. I've also met a white person who sent me an article by another white person who claimed to have asked members of the same tribe, who said they do consider it appropriative. If someone who is actually from the Kanien'kehá:ka culture would like to tell me what the consensus is, or if there even is one within the culture, I would appreciate it.). I've also see goths with any number of styles that involved shaving various parts of their heads, so you can also just go wild with the clippers and see what happens. A tower (a style in which the sides and back are shaved and the top is styled to stick up) is also an option. Just be aware that something that involves backcombing and hairspray is a lot of work to be doing on a daily basis and can damage your hair; using extensions instead may help protect it. If you have textured hair, many Black goths tease or comb it into various styles. The important thing with many looks is that it has body and sticks up, that it has shaved parts, that it's generally edgy, or some combination of those traits at play. When in doubt, look to goth icons like Robert Smith and Dave Vanian for inspiration, or simply try to look as much like a vampire as you can. Or, you can look at modern goth artists, like Twin Tribes, Male Tears, and She Past Away!

Most goths (even cis, straight men) wear some amount of makeup, although it's not necessary if you don't want to. A basic beginner look may just be black eyeliner and/or eyeshadow smudged around the eyes. If you'd like the get creative with it, some contouring, black or red lipstick, or more elaborate eye makeup may be in order. You can imitate women's looks or do something more elaborate; I'll make a separate post for that. Goth makeup often focuses on looking gaunt and pale, but this is not because goth has always been for skinny, white people (it's never been just for them); it's more that the goal when goth makeup became a thing was to look like a corpse. Being pale and being skinny are not requirements. Looking dark and edgy is the goal, not looking conventionally attractive.

Doing all or most of these things will give you a good, basic goth look, and with just a few band shirts, you'll have a solid wardrobe to work with that doesn't have to be expensive. Remember, goth fashion has always been pretty androgynous, so don't be afraid to borrow ideas from goth women as well! If you're able to spend time around other goths or follow them on social media (Goth Dad is an influencer who has his own goth male fashion tutorials that are worth looking at, and others like Sweeney DeVille and James from the band Male Tears have good tutorials for things like hair and makeup), you'll pick up on more ideas, and can even get creative on your own!
