Sundae
(A Sun Dog Story)
Part 1: 1 Scoop Strawberry
It was dark. He was alone. He had been crawling for the past 2 days, and he had found yet another resting spot. Under a tree by a hill, no signs of the little ones. He had to be alone, no matter how dangerous it was in those woods. It was better that way. At least, that's what he believed.
"Come on, guys! Are you wanting to go camping or not?"
He could never get that voice out of his head. The voice of who he was supposedly meant to be. It always spoke of going on adventures or playing. How it was so great to have friends. That voice couldn't fathom what the reality really was. That he had friends, friends who were torn apart limb from limb. Friends who were proclaimed as heretics. He wish he could tell that voice, so that it may finally shut up. Another day, perhaps.
He relaxed, making a fire from a few twigs he found, the little ones hated fire. As he laid there, he began to hear something else, a whimper. He grabbed his wooden dagger, prepared for whatever it was that was making that sound. He couldn't risk having them eat him alive. It was then that he felt something rub against his side. It was a tiny kit, fur a deep red.
"Hey, critter crew! I think we found a new friend!"
No. No, it wasn't a friend, it was an animal. Albeit one that was alone, and very clearly distressed. He slowly reached out for the poor thing, and it didn't hesitate. It must've thought he was another one of its kind. The thing was shaking like it was deathly cold. He knew what to do, he knew it should still work. He brought the pup close to him, and soon, the strong, comforting scent of vanilla filled the air. The pup wasn't shaking anymore, in fact, it was as alive as it could be!
If his face wasn't already stuck in a grin, he'd have been smiling. He set the pup back down beside him, petting it as it curled up next to him. The sandman gifted them with a comfortable night.
As day broke, he realized the kit hadn't left his side. He could only assume the worst. He couldn't leave it there alone. It isn't what they would have wanted. He rested it upon his shoulder, and he set off once again into the vast forest. Maybe he didn't have to go solo. Maybe he could have at least one friend by his side.
"Come on, new friend! We'd just love for you to have some fun with us!"

I know fanfic is widely accepted these days and most creators aren't going to sue you for writing it, but I am begging people to remember that by sharing your fic and OCs unsolicited with creators, you're putting them in a really uncomfortable position. For one thing, they have their own ideas for their story and it can be really awkward to respond to fans trying to insert their ideas into it. You're trapping them into interacting with your fanwork in a way that can be hard to disengage from, especially without hurting feelings. And it can also lead to trouble regarding intellectual property and plagiarism.
Say you're an author and a fan sends you a fic, which you read, and find that it's predicted some key elements to the next book of the series. Now that fan has proof that they sent you these ideas before the book came out, and when you publish your new book, they notice how similar it is to their fic. They might try taking legal action against you or they might just brag online that your idea was so great that they took it, or inversely call you a thief and an asshole for stealing their ideas. So maybe instead of even risking it, you're now trying to redo that next novel away from those elements. Are these scenarios likely to happen? No, probably not. But a lot of authors are advised by their teams to avoid fanworks for this reason anyway.
Interacting with the creators of the canon you love is awesome! But please remember they aren't fellow fans and you need to interact with them appropriately for everyone's sake

i'm such a bad southeast asian when it comes to desserts i don't have the palette for most of it, like i hate red bean, matcha, taro, durian, black sesame, etc. i love pandan and mango as well as more punjabi and persian/west asian flavours like cardamom, rose, pistachio, walnut, date, fig, etc but when it comes to more east&southeast asian desserts my options are soooo limited. nailed to the cross about it

I hate when you want a story to do one thing, but it clearly has other ideas, and as an author you know you’ve gotta let it lead cus else that’s how you get harry potter kind of endings.

Tampa Gold - Ch.13 - Rescue
“Our love is like a ship on the ocean. We’ve been sailing with a cargo full of love and devotion.”
Rock Steady Crew
Indian Ocean – 26 August 2001
When I think back to everything that happened in the years between Alisons-pun intended-I would summarise it best in one word; “chance”. Each time some dramatic, life-changing event occurred, I had usually just arrived on the scene or had planned to…
