In the MLP ‘n Friends episode “Tambelon”, its established that Grogar’s dark city of Tambelon exists in a different dimension;  every 500 years it phases into the ponies’ dimension. Unicorns can get stuck in Tambelon before it even appears, as their winking (aka teleporting) briefly takes them through other planes. 

When Tambelon physically materialized into Ponyland, Grogar captured every pony, plus magic users like the Moochick.  But Megan and the ponies defeated Grogar, sending him and Tambelon back to their original dimension.

Then there’s the other G1 series, MLP Tales, which is a mundane world. The ponies drive cars and attend school, they’re all Earth ponies, and there’s no magic . . . or IS there?  

MLP Tales has two mystical occurrences: the ghost of Squire appears and the magical Glow ‘n Show ponies (three pegasi and one alicorn) rescue Patch.

So what if Grogar came back 500 years after Megan & friends defeated him?  And what if the new generation of ponies once again defeated him--but THIS time most ponies were unable to escape the city before it dematerialized.  Perhaps only a few Earth ponies remained in Ponyland, gradually repopulating it.  And as the years went by, unicorns, pegasi, flutter ponies, etc, became little more than myths.

So my theory is that another 500 years have passed and Bright Glow and her Glow ‘n Show friends have managed to escape from Tambelon before it fully materializes and are now scouting, looking for information and allies to free their trapped friends and defeat Grogar once and for all.

Empress Luna (Lunar Solstice): Divine Alicorn, Age 22

Empress of Cimmeria, Goddess of the Stars. Luna was devastated when she discovered the destiny she spent her life preparing for was meant for someone else entirely. One night, Luna decided to try and raise the Moon herself to spite Sombra. But to her surprise, bright lights began to move across the sky. Luna dubbed these lights stars, ascending as their Goddess shortly after. Luna was born a Nightmare Pegasus.

Nightmare Star (Celestial Equinox): Alicorn, Age 23

Former Queen of Canterlot, former goddess of the Sun. Once known as Celestial Equinox, Nightmare Star is a corrupted shell of her former self. While she was happy to see her partners and sister ascend, Celestia was disappointed upon realizing her ascension was not unique. The ponies of Canterlot also preferred the other rulers over her: Luna was gentle, Hope was caring, and Sombra protected them from harm. Celestia was seen as a spoiled brat who didn’t know the first thing about leadership. The final straw was when she saw Radiant Hope raise the Sun, the only thing ponies respected about her. On that day Celestia decided if her ponies didn’t love her, they would learn to fear her instead. Celestia was born a Kirin.

Empress Rabia: Divine Umbrum, Age 3,800*

Empress of Tambelon, Goddess of Darkness. Rabia is a noble, just ruler trying to bring happiness and peace to her people. She would have never expected one of her subjects to raise the Moon, but she adjusted quickly. Rabia is technically the Goddess of Darkness, but she doesn’t care much about her divinity. Secretly wants to retire and settle down somewhere with Luna.

*Rabia’s age is an estimation. Due to the time differences between Domina and Tambelon, the exact age of an Umbrum is nearly impossible to find.

people mostly complained because return to oz was “too scary” but for small me, fascinated by fantasy perils like the most dramatic my little pony episodes (tambelon forever) AND having read the books so the weirdest bits were all vaguely familiar anyway, it was the RIGHT level of scary.

Thoughts on MLP Make Your Mark Chapter 4, Episode 1: Bridlewoodstock

(with spoilers)

So this special really reminded me of the G3 specials, which generally low-stakes (except A Very Minty Christmas when Minty almost fell to her death out of a hot air balloon). Like if you think about it, life would go on if Kimono wasn't surprised on her birthday or if there weren't any rainbows for one year. The mix-up with the three musical acts thinking they would be the headliner, and then an ADDITIONAL mixup where none of them wanted to be the headliner, was especially G3-ish. Mostly this special was about a pleasant vibe and fun songs and ponies dancing around.

However there was some conflict, in the form of Pipp ignoring Izzy's (and the other unicorns') warning about the Troggles.

The Troggles were originally from the G1 episode "The Return of Tambelon". They were the enslaved minions of Grogar until they rebelled against him and befriended the ponies.

In this special they are more like forest spirits, and are only a danger during the nights of the Lumi-Bloom. The unicorns have a poem about them: "Eyes of the monster, form of the pig! Sing, laugh, or yell, set hoof on a twig! Troggles appear, steal what's to be, no cure to be found past the red ruby!" The Troggles steal ponies' voices, but will give them back (and disappear) if presented with a ruby. Which is exactly what happens, and then the ponies go back to their concert and dance party.

Random thoughts and observations:

Izzy says the Lumi-Bloom occurs "every moon season". Also, Minty says the Dreamlands broke up "moons and moons ago." Both of which make me believe that in this world "a moon" is a year, not a month.

We also see several shots of the full moon. Which I think is interesting because they have to add depth (craters) to make it look like a moon, but can't use the same pattern of craters as Earths' moon has.

When Pipp initially sings in the forest these little blueberry guys fly around here--maybe Parasprites or their descendants?

The Lumi-Bloom glow is a natural phenomenon, not magic. (Or at least not pony-magic.)

When Zipp goes to recruit the band Elecric Blue, we see Shutter Snap (who had a toy in the Amazon exclusive pegasus set) as part of the paparrazzi.

The Electric Blue ponies are very Aesthetic; their names are Arpeggio, Fretlock, and Jam Donut.

TFor the last two weeks, we were on a break from our main campaign since we finished a big arc and we had two one-shots. One was DM'd by @askscribbly while the other was led by my boyfriend!

Meet Tinker, the kobold artificer! He's a little alchemist with a lotta heart and was born in the desert among a kobold colony. Unfortunately, he was too smart for them and they kicked him out because he kept making them look really bad.

Tinker's an alchemist with a knack of potion making and overall inventions. He's great with spur of the moment ideas and gets excited about it. He, among two other characters, met up in a forest after they saved him from a pack of stray dogs. He makes too much noise rofl.

Anyways, they all went to the Dreaming Valley for a new start. Hero's Haven is a place help started by our main campaign characters and overall a place for humanoids to live in harmony. There's gnolls, giants, lots of other kobolds and even lycanthropes! This made Tinker's companions, a cursed wereboar and a moontouched wereboar, extremely happy.

Tinker is literally my baby and I love him ;_; he goes by he/they mainly but can use she (he forgets sometimes what he is) and his little homunuculus friend is a five-headed garter snake hydra <3 Both Tinker and Noodles were designed by @shadowhanded, I just changed Tinker's design slightly (I wanted ears heehee).

Species: Divine Nightmare Alicorn (currently), Nightmare Pegasus (formerly)

Luna was devastated when she discovered the destiny she spent her life preparing for was meant for someone else entirely. One night, Luna decided to try and raise the Moon herself to spite Sombra. But to her surprise, bright lights began to move across the sky. Luna dubbed these lights stars, ascending as their Goddess shortly after. She also served as the unofficial goddess of dreams while in Canterlot, protecting ponies from nightmares while they slept.

—A prophecy foretold a being of darkness would one day lift the moon. As a Nightmare Pegasus from a noble family, Lunar Solstice was seen as the obvious choice.

—Due to her dream walking abilities, Luna had a personal connection with the Canterlot citizens none of the other royals understand. Even in Tambelon Luna has no problem protecting ponies from nightmares.

—Luna now lives in Tambelon with her wife Rabia. She still visits briefly to move the stars, and to catch up with the Canterlot rulers over tea.

—Long ago, a Kirin traveled to the land of nightmares in search of a Pegasus who could walk through dreams.
