you have unlocked a specific brand of nerd in me by posting about avatar and stranger things, and a couple weeks ago i went on a trip with my best friend and we discussed this in depth so. now i'm here to word vomit my headcanons into your asks bestie. buckle up.

el: avatar, with her native element being water. i just feel like el is a very adaptable person (for the fact that she has been forced to be that way), but also very rooted in her love for her friends and her community (which is so water tribe ok)

will (and jonathan): air simply because will gives me SUCH aang vibes but also for reasons i will discuss further down

mike (and nancy): fire. no explanation needed.

max: earth (or fire bc tbh i can see both), but i was thinking about uncle iroh's quote about the earth kingdom/earthbenders and how he describes them as "diverse and strong" and also "persistent and enduring" and idk that gives me max vibes. also okay imagine a stranger things/avatar redux where max does lose her sight BUT THEN SHE LITERALLY CAN BE LIKE TOPH DUDE.

lucas (and erica): okay truthfully, i can put lucas into a A LOT of these (literally all of them but air lol), but when i was thinking about it, i ultimately went with water, in part because no one else in the party was water. but also, again iroh's quote about the water tribes "They have a sense of community and love that holds them together through anything" is giving me lucas vibes (particularly s4 lucas)

dustin: alright, don't hate me for this one, but i think dustin is a nonbender. dustin is INCREDIBLY sokka coded, and imagining some kind of ST/avatar world? steve is also a nonbender, and these two bond over it. steve helps dustin to find his value outside of the fact that he doesn't have bending, and it really helps dustin grow his confidence. (also something something something if eddie still dies in some kind of a world, imagine how crushed dustin would be realizing if he had bending maybe he could've saved eddie. shut up andi get out of here)

robin: AIRBENDING SHE IS SO AIRBENDER CODED NIC!!!!

joyce/hopper: both nonbenders who somehow got stuck surrounded by all these chaotic benders

brenner: waterbending. okay. so so so here are my more unhinged worldbuilding thoughts about this. i think it would be so Mean and so Neat for brenner to be the same native element as el, especially if it's the element where you can literally take away someone's control of themselves through bloodbending. there are so many horrors there, and i feel like brenner represents the darker, colder, and more calculating side of waterbending (if el and lucas and even erica represents the part that is love and community). also like. imagine el hating waterbending because of how she was forced to train with brenner? but then learning to heal from her trauma through her friendships later with lucas and the others? yeah ok.

vecna/henry: SIMILAR TO THE BRENNER/EL PARALLEL. i think it'd be so fun to have henry be an airbender (to have will/henry parallels), but also henry strikes me as a very zaheer coded character (idk if you've watched legend of korra, but the idea of chaos being the world's natural state and seeking freedom through chaos and disorder reminds me a lot of henry's monologue in S4E7). also like. the mindflayer particle manipulation could so very easily be like? an airbending trait? will, an airbender, gets hurt through some advanced form of airbending as a child and it traumatizes the hell out of him? but then he's able to reclaim his bending and use it to help defeat henry in the end? yeah yeah yeah do you see the vision?

lonnie is an airbender, and he's a shitty human being who is awful to jonathan (and will but less so since jonathan protects him) when teaching him how to bend. jonathan, because of this, hates bending and prefers to fight with other weapons when he has to, but robin and jonathan become friends eventually, and she helps him to reclaim this part of who he is. (please imagine robin, jonathan, will, and el all airgliding. thank you and goodnight.)

nancy is absolutely a prodigy when it comes to firebending, but mike is just kinda mediocre, which then feeds into his insecurities about literally dating the avatar and also being the party leader, because why should he get to lead if he's not even that good at bending? very azula/zuko coded wheeler relationship there except nancy doesn't wanna. ya know. kill mike and stuff.

okay yes YES! avatar el with her original bending being water makes so much sense based on her personality like you said and the great parallel between waterbending and how canon el uses baths to connect with the void and amplify her powers, so water is already greatly tied to her at least symbolically as her tool but ALSO as method used to torture her (i mean all the times she was put into sensory deprivation against her will), which ALSO TIES SO NICELY TO YOUR TAKE ON BRENNER ALSO BEING A WATERBENDER BC HE USES WATER TO CONTROL EL AND HE WOULD TOTALLY BE THE CORRUPTED KIND THAT USES BLOODBENDING ANDI YOUR BRAIN IS SO HUGE!! and el learning to find peace with her bending through her friendship with lucas is just so :((( also picture lucas teaching something brenner never taught el, how to user her bending to heal others and like that she learns that waterbending by itself isn't bad or good, it's how you yield your power that turns you bad or good same as how it happens with her powers in canon where they don't make her a monster just because she has them, it's how she uses that will define that and el has never been a monster, that is brenner. i am a buffoon, putting my buffoon hat on right now. that being said, lucas being what keeps the party together through his sense of community aligns so well with lucas. thinking about lucas always owning up to his mistakes, how he apologized to el in season one and said he had judged her wrong, how in season two he gave max a safe space to open up and when she needed reassurance he was right there to offer it, how in season three even when will says it doesn't matter anymore he still admits he was wrong and apologizes and how he is a supportive best friend to mike and his shenanigans, and in season four how lucas literally tricks the basketball team and runs back to the party to be with them and slowly becomes the anchor max needed so badly and I'LL CRY LUCAS I ADORE YOU SO MUCH HELP-

okay okay dustin for me could be an airbender because of his free spirit and how easily he adapts to new situations and new people like in s2 and then s3. but also him being a not bender makes so much sense? thinking how canon dustin is basically a mastermind and a crafter that can put together a long range radio while being on summer camp. so imagine that, yes, dustin isn't a bender and in a world of benders that's kinda a big deal and he could be self conscious about it but what if makes up for it with his trinkets and projects? he is no airbender but he crafted a set of wings with a string system that can be adjusted to the winds and keep him in the air just fine. he's no firebender, but he designed a flamethrower just fine. dustin being the crafter of the party makes my heart go woosh woosh because it's SO HIM (also dipping my feet into a different fandom/au but thinking how dustin and leo valdez are so similar in that sense and how dustin would totally be hephaestus' son OK GOING BACK TO OUR AVATAR PROGRAMMING!) AND YES steve also being a nonbender who is still so self confidence and he teaches dustin to be confident in his skills bc even when dustin is an amazing inventor he still feels like his lack of bending is still something he needs to fix so his inventions are to cover that insecurity but steve is like "no, dude! you are literally a tiny inventor, that's so cool? fuck bending, that's a gift some get and some who don't. but this? *holding up one of dustin's inventions* this was all you! no gift, just you and your mind. how is that not awesome?" and them bonding because it's a parallel of steve helping dustin be more confident in canon and i will cry no andi nooooo-

BUT through a quick google search i can say that YES TF? that zaheer dude alings with henry's ideology *shudders* I SEE THE VISION SO WELL! henry using a forbidden technique of airbending to hurt will and corrupt his bending and will learning how to bend again over the years, also just like brenner and el, henry representing the dark side of airbending and will the good side that goes back to the old airbenders and their ways to connect with their bending AND IT ALSO ADDS TO THE WHOLE bending isn't evil or good, it's just power that you decide how to use and yield AAAHH I LOVE THE VISION I LOVE YOUR BRAIN KUDOS KUDOS KUDOS!!!

AND OH GOD THIS IS SO LONG ALREADY IM SORRY BUT TO TACKLE THAT LAST PART YES!!! nancy being a natural, powerful and a prodigy. something something this reflects how in canon nancy played the part of the perfect child lifting karen and ted's expectations on mike who then never met them because he is not nancy so by season two mike is punished for not dealing with his trauma the same way nancy has (or pretends she has to keep up this perfect child image to her parents), meaning quietly unlike mike who instead acts out and does things that clearly are a cry for help that karen and ted never attend to OK SORRY HAD TO SNEAK IN A BIT OF MY MIKE WHEELER ANALYSIS IN THERE BC ITS MY NATURE GOING BACK TO WHAT I WAS SAYING- nancy is a prodigy, mike isn't, he is mediocre at best, he has a hard time controlling his bending and being as powerful as nancy even though he is expected to and this transpires into his deeply rooted insecurity that then intensifies when he starts dating the avatar that was missing from the face of the earth and that mike one day stumbled upon because of dumb luck only, and also how he is the leader of the party but why? he isn't as powerful as the rest, he isn't the avatar or at the avatar's level, he is just mike and in good mike fashion he can't see his worth, so then will comes and lets mike know that yes, he is just mike and just mike is what keeps the party together, his leadership and heart because mike doesn't need to be anything besides just mike, because that's enough. Okay now I wanna know about Amon/Di, Hya/Toph, Amon/Toph, and Hya/Di, like who works the best and who's a disaster?

OHHHHH INTRIGUING. the funny thing about the four of them is they’re all kind of?? similar in some ways to each other. but different at the same time lol. i like to refer to toph & di as the og amon & hya bc i made them first HOWEVER there’s key differences between all of them in the morality and vibe department but anyway enough prelim ramble

AMON & DI: like tbh they’d be really chill with each other but the chemistry would just not fucking spark unless they were fighting and bc they’re both just a twinge too logical to fight for no reason it’s like hmm. you’re cool, ig? they’d get a lot of shit done and a lot of heads would be knocked but they’re bros lmao. HOWEVER, if i were to pair amon with the SUPER OG version of di where he could talk to animals and was kind of part wolf (long story) amon would be fucked he’s his type lmao. og di is rugged, an asshole and would absolutely beat you up for no reason and amon likes that. however di being into him is questionable bc di is such a pretty boy fucker LMAO. they struggle bc they have the same type and it’s not each other 💀 but they’d get along :)

HYA & TOPH: god they would get on each others NERVESSSSS SO MUCHHHHHH. and not in a way that they’re endeared to like how they are with their boys no; they’re too alike but too different at the same time lmao. they both bitch and cuss like sailors, don’t take shit from anyone, and Know that they’re right. but toph is a metal head and a demon and is absolutely all about the grunge so hya would piss him off for being too “prissy”. not only that but hya’s tolerance and morals are like Way Lower than toph’s and toph’s like ok i’ve been through shit but you’re an ass. and hya’s like i don’t really know where you get off thinking that just because you care about other people means you’re better. so like similar personalities but the morals clash and they’d just be bitching at each other non stop or it’s silent treatment no way in between.

AMON & TOPH: they’d work a little too well 💀 toph would actually get down and dirty and fight amon and while verbal fights do get him going, physical fights get him zero to 100 really fast. both of them have no qualms about fucking whenever and however so it’d just be all the time lmao. ntm they’re both pretty laid back—they don’t let things bother them unless they need to and when they’re bothered it’s all hands on deck to get this ASS WHOPPIN— they also have similar crass senses of humor and the banter is definitely tHere lol.

HYA & DI: a bit rough ngl. hya is a very hard person to get along with if you aren’t ready for him and while di would definitely be magnetized to hya from afar i think he’d think he was too intimidating to really approach. even if he were, the likelihood that hya would give him anything to work with is null and void. see, the thing about di is he’s actually pretty easy to read if you look enough, and with hya that’s kind of bad because if he can read you he can learn ways to avoid opening up to you. he can’t read amon well bc amon doesn’t make sense to him and lets a lot of hya’s bullshit roll off his shoulders so it inevitably ends with hya floundering for ways to push him away that he just can’t fucking find. but di? angel, he’s easy. he’s got a tell where he rubs his nose when he lies, he looks down and to the right when he’s uncomfortable, he gnaws his lips when he feels some type of way. hya would avoid opening up. and while di enjoys an intimidating partner (toph cough), he’s still a goody two shoes trying to learn to spread his wings. he needs someone more willing to approach him and meet him on his level which hya absolutely would not do lol. i doubt they’d even talk they have very little to go off of 💀

okay so. imma preface this by saying that i, personally, Really Dislike (hate) the httyd movies due to the fact that the book series was my childhood and how inaccurate the movies are, so i am So down for this au, except... imma make it the Books...

and everyone is super cautious of aang (including sokka, sometimes. sometimes sokka is just like "why do i hang out with you you're going to get us killed?" and aang just shrugs and is like "idk cause you love me") because he's a bit of an odd outsider and vikings are territorial and he learned how to speak to dragons which literally no one else can do and he also tries to idk be friends with dragons and stuff because he finds them interesting (and bonus points if sokka Also finds them interesting but is too scared of the negative reaction the tribe would have if he indulged in learning about dragons like aang) and aang teaches katara dragon stuff (and eventually sokka... he teaches them how to speak dragonese...) aND FRICK I LOVE THIS

My name is Lee, and I would like a matchup for ATLA

I am androgynous, and have both masculine and feminine energy, as I identify as being gnc. I can't exactly explain what gender i am, as i dunno what label I'm most comfortable with. I use it/its pronouns though, and I'm bisexual! I am an infp type t, with a pisces sun, (though technically i am on the pisces-aries cusp due to being born on march 20th) aries moon, and Cancer rising. My favorite color is yellow (though it doesn't really relate to my overall vibe tbh) and my least favorite color is pink. When it comes to what i wear, I'm partial to neutral tones and masculine clothing unless I'm feeling specifically feminine. I have dark brown hair with bangs that usually cover my left eye. My eyes are hazel, and typically appear brown or dark green. I'm 5'2, and am somewhat chubby. I have a very round face, and my cheeks are very defined when my face isn't relaxed. My teeth are pretty sharp, to the point where I'd consider my canines and anything behind my canines fangs.

My hobbies consist of drawing, roleplaying, listening to music, sleeping, and watching old kid's movies. I know that's not many hobbies, but I don't get up to much.

I'm a cat person, with a preference for warm colors excluding neutrals. My favorite holiday is Halloween, and my favorite season is winter until it actually gets unbearably cold. I'm a night person and ambivert, and i consider myself to be pretty adaptable and friendly. I manage to be pretty intimidating in real life, for some reason. People like to make rumors about how I can be aggressive or violent, but I've barely ever physically fought with anybody outside of family.

I have ADHD, BPD, PTSD, and SAD, along with GAD and social anxiety. These can get in the way of a lot of my relationships and i do need lots of reassurance that people aren't mad at me or aren't thinking badly of me. I tend to withdraw if I'm upset, and need to process things. I don't typically leave the house unless it's a requirement, and i like chewing gum and bouncing my leg as my coping mechanisms. I'm pretty stubborn and have a short fuse, but if i really like someone it's hard to let go of them. I tend to fall in love with my friends on accident.

My most ideal traits in a partner:

Maybe someone who. Acts tough but is really just a big softie on the inside? Or maybe someone who is clingy but not aggressively or in the way a child would be, in the sense of the excessiveness. I need to be able to take care of someone, or I'll feel like a burden, but i also need them to listen to me ramble, and help me decide what I'm feeling. My thoughts are often jumbled, and i feel really intelligent until i speak to people. Definitely looking for a lot of cuddles and cute conversations. And definitely some adventures.

My most toxic traits happen to be my excessive stubbornness, sarcasm, and tendency for emotional extremes. I also have big issues with being direct about my boundaries and moods. I ignore red flags often, and i nag a lot. I try to be really adaptable while also being independent amd sometimes it just doesn't work out.

You have both masculine and feminine energy (although I wouldn’t say Toph is androgynous), you both can be very stubborn and sarcastic and you both find it very difficult to ask for help.

Toph is the definition of someone who acts tough but is really a big softie on the inside. But finding something to help her with will likely be difficult, since she hates asking people for help. She wants to be independent and can end up feeling rather insulted when someone tries to help her, even when she knows she needs help.

I think Toph also suffers from ADHD, a least in a small way. So she would completely understand you there and would definitely try to help in anyway she can. Toph may struggle slightly in the beginning to understand your other disorders, but she would catch on pretty quickly and be great partner to rely on.

Toph is great at spotting red flags in people, remember she can feel when people are lying through her feet. So she’d definitely be able to help you with spotting red flags.

Toph wouldn’t be so into cuddles and affection, but would slowly but surely start to crave it from you.

I think the only flaw in your relationship is that Toph would hate to have to constantly remind you that she loves you. It can be exhausting and makes it so glaringly obviously that you’re incredibly insecure. She might give you small “I love you”s in private every once in a while, but if you need to hear it more than that, there might be a problem.

fun lil headcanons for toph because why tf not:

in canon headcanons:

-competes in earth rumble every single year until she dies. she will leave her little swap for one day a hear and its to fuck shit up at earth rumble. never loses.

-her field trip with zuko was her forcing him to take her to find sokka’s space sword and boomerang because she felt guilty that he lost those items to save her life (she got over her guilt and it turned into a thank you/birthday present for him. he cried). Zuko didn’t know why he was the one chosen to go and not suki or aang considering they were there during the fight and her only explanation is “you owe me a better fieldtrip than last time sparky” and hes too scared to tell her no

-i firmly believe that she invents the atla equivalent of earthbender soccer/football. just a bunch of earthbenders kicking a rock around. right up her ally tbh

-she visits the badgermoles who taught her how to bend whenever she can. (she cuddles with them too sometimes but she will deny it if asked)

-this one isnt rlly a headcanon because its like seen all the time in the show but i just rlly love it so im adding it because its one of my favorite details in yhe show: she loves holding onto one of her friends whenever she can’t sense her surroundings through her bending (like when shes holding sokkas arm on appa ygs know what im talking ab). no one ever says a word to her about it tho because sokka made a joke about her being a secret cuddle monster and she punched him so hard that it definitely wasnt her way of showing affection...

-she absolutely hates king bumi because he refuses to tell her how he became king when the earth kingdom already has a king. she just wants to know and he wont tell her and its frustrating.

modern au headcannons:

-absolute obsession with unsolved murder podcasts. buzzfeed unsolved is also one of her favorite youtube series

-i think toph would be terrified of small dogs. big dogs are fine but she swears that all small dogs are demons (and not the fun kind) keep chihuahuas in little purses away from toph

-in my modern aus i always imagine them as nonbending aus so she would have a cane or a service dog. if she uses a cane she asks her friends to decorate it with stickers and markers so it fits her vibe (when asked what she thinks her vibe is all she said was “dirt and victory”) and if she has a dog the dogs name is dog because she thinks its hilarious to call her dog “dog”

-she is a sucker for anything mint chocolate chip flavored

headcanons that go for both:

-she has learned how to do some tricks to make it look like she can see (like shes learned how to accidentally bump a water bottle off a table and time it out perfectly so when she puts her had out she catches it) and for months she only did them when sokka was around and convinced him that she could see as a prank and he totally fell for it

-despite her sarcastic and brash attitude, her friends all think of her as someone who is really wise and they all think she gives really good advice (even if it does come across a little too brutally honest. they appreciate it though)

-she always wished she wasnt an only child because she got lonely as a kid, but after meeting her friends she stopped wishing for a sibling

-she absolutely hates thunderstorms

-this ones kinda sad but i think she lives longer than anyone else in the gaang and it makes her sad sometimes because they used to consider her the baby of the group :,(

i’ve gone over some of these points before, so some of y’all may recognize the continuity of the atlahsaucu (atla highschool au cinematic universe). this is a long one, and it’s *gasps* chronological… 

they first meet in junior year art class. sokka resents how well zuko can draw and paint seemingly without any effort whatsoever, meanwhile sokka tries really hard and all his art comes out like disgusting little blobs on the canvas. zuko resents sokka for being cool and hot. how dare he. 

one day, they get a bit carried away, and sokka and suki start making out in the middle of the hallway. zuko, whose locker they are directly on top of and who has class at this very moment, is not amused, and he, politely as he can, coughs and request that they move out of the way. sokka merely holds up a finger as to say “one moment please” which enrages zuko (justly, tbh) and he yells, “what the fuck?!” 

sokka’s like “man what’s your fucking problem why are you such an asshole and so good at art” and zuko’s just like “????” and “what in gods name are you talking about????” and the yelling causes a scene which lands them in detention. sokka has never gotten detention before (though he has gotten several warnings in the past, but it’s kinda hard to be mad at the guy whose girlfriend just died for being distracted in class) and he’s freaking out that this is gonna go on his record and he’ll never get into stanford or mit or princeton or– meanwhile zuko is just asleep at his desk. 

once zuko wakes up, sokka, bored out of his mind, jokingly proposes that they sneak out through the vents and make a break for it, but zuko, either not understanding that sokka is joking or not caring that sokka is joking (it’s unclear which) is like “yeah we’d just have to be quiet.” sokka, who has now decided that zuko is batshit crazy, but has also decided that he is living on the wild side, a real bad boy rebel who’ll never make ivy league because he got detention that one time, is like “yeah okay” just because he spent a lot of time entertaining this hypothetical and now he’s deathly curious to see if it’ll work. 

amazingly enough, it does. adrenaline carries them outside the building and into freedom as they run as far as their legs will carry them until sokka stops to panic that he is now a certified delinquent, and delinquents don’t get scholarships, and if he doesn’t go to a good school then he’ll never get a good job, and if he doesn’t get a good job then how is he gonna support gran gran?????? and zuko’s just like “wait, hold up.”

zuko admits that he fully thought sokka was some type of meathead jock who makes out with his girlfriend in the hallways and thinks he’s too cool for school and sokka’s like “she’s not my girlfriend and also what.” zuko is confused as to why he would make out with someone in the hallway if she wasn’t even his girlfriend. he also realizes that he doesn’t actually know his name. so sokka explains that yeah they’re in love and spend every waking moment together but no she’s not his girlfriend; he doesn’t do relationships and neither does she. and also he introduces himself. 

and it takes zuko a moment because he’s really bad with names and faces and putting faces to names and, people, in general, but then he’s like “oh my god you’re that sokka.” and sokka’s just like “yeah i’m pretty sure my name’s not that common???” but zuko is just like “i think my sister is planning to murder you someday.” and sokka just slaps his forehead. of course art class asshole is related to debate class asshole. 

only zuko’s not really an asshole he’s kinda just a weirdo. a quiet little freak who paints good. sokka can vibe with that. especially after zuko assures him that none of this will go on any sort of record whatsoever because bumi is old, and batshit, and senile, and clearly doesn’t give a fuck. sokka laughs, and this leads into them talking shit about everyone they both hate, which they realize are all the same people, somehow. seeing their own petty bitterness mirrored back at them, they realize that they’re kind of both snobs, but in a fun way. 

they walk through town until it gets dark out, and then they go their separate ways. but next monday they sit together in art class, and their teacher yells at them to stop whispering. sokka is just drawing little triangles across the page because he’s just come from trig and he’s very sleepy and doesn’t really feel like feeling inadequate right now. but zuko’s like, “what are you drawing?” and sokka looks at the page of triangles he was unconsciously doodling and scoffs and says in an affect, “can’t you tell? it’s a cubist take on degas.” and this is the funniest shit to zuko. but of course he then gets yelled at for laughing. 

they’re friends after that; they just are. sokka invites zuko to lunch with his friends, at which point zuko meets toph and suki, who are, of course, the fucking coolest. 

azula sees zuko talk to sokka or suki occasionally in the halls and demands to know what it is they’re talking about. zuko’s like “i dont….. remember?” but azula is certain that they are only friends with him as a means of getting to her, because they desire to crush her. zuko’s like “i don’t even think they know your name.” indeed, they do not. but sokka does stop calling her “debate asshole” in favor of “zuko’s sister,” so that’s something. 

the first time zuko goes to sokka’s house, it is because sokka insists on showing him both back to the future movies. (there is no third one it does not exist.) for reasons unknown to him, zuko is terrified. he wears his favorite sweater that day. it is near-identical to all his other sweaters. he doesn’t understand the first one at all. the second one he remarks “oh that was kind of like hamlet.” that makes sokka really happy. at some point zuko goes to get a glass of water and sokka yells from the couch to bring him back a popsicle from the freezer while he’s at it. zuko complies, but he takes it just before katara goes to get one. he nonchalantly tells her that it was the last one, and she makes a very big show of throwing the box out. she fumes all night that sokka let that rude little bitch into her house. sokka pays her no mind. 

mai and zuko are still together at this point, and because mai is dropping hints big enough to pierce through even zuko’s thick skull that she’s feeling left behind in favor of zuko’s new friends, he asks them if it’s cool that she join them for stuff. they’re all like “yeah of course” and mai pretends not to care. they all like mai, especially toph, but all agree that her relationship with zuko is super weird. toph and mai become super tight, and it’s clear as day to toph that mai is in love with ty lee, even if mai is not fully aware of this fact herself. suki, who has been secretly hooking up with ty lee this whole time (don’t worry, sokka knows, and he high-fives her whenever she brags about it), is just like “oh noooooo……” toph insists to mai that she dump zuko, and without mentioning ty lee once, is able to convince her of it just by reminding her that zuko is a super inattentive boyfriend and she deserves better. she does. zuko feels sort of…relieved? he doesn’t know why. he loves mai. he really does. but it’s also like a weight has been taken off his shoulders.

zuko doesn’t really know what to do about the fact that his sister is serial-killer level obsessed with sokka, other than try to ignore it. azula is always attempting to pry information out of him because they seem to be, at the very least, casual acquaintances so he must have some leverage by now, right??? she is never allowed to know that he knows where sokka lives, because he is afraid that one night sokka will simply find her hiding in the bushes with binoculars searching for any sign of academic struggle. sokka is blissfully unaware to most of these shenanigans. to him, she is like a buzzing fly occasionally hovering around his face. 

that summer, they divide their time between working on college applications and going to the park together to just sit and read. it’s literally the most fun zuko can ever remember having. 

english was always sokka’s worst subject because he is terrible at organizing his thoughts coherently and always ends up going on little tangents about the origins of butter churning or digital watches in a paper that was supposed to be about sense & sensibility, but his teachers are usually charmed enough by him that they see his essays as a fun challenge instead of a giant red X. but pakku loathes sokka. and he loathes his sister, whom he had taught the previous year. sokka complains to katara about it, and she just goes on a rant about how horrible and boring and bitter and raggedy he is. but sokka, who, unlike katara, desperately wants to be liked by everyone, feels the need to prove himself.

he goes to the best english student he knows. “hey, you’re really good at english, right?” he asks zuko, to which zuko responds, “i should hope so. it is my first language.” it is unclear whether or not zuko is being facetious or just very perplexed, but sokka laughs anyway. he pleads for zuko to “tutor him” and zuko’s like “but you have all A’s?” he agrees anyway, of course. zuko spends a lot of time on jstor, so he know how to write good. he helps sokka outline his essays in a way that works for him, but mostly it’s just an excuse for them to hang out and eat snacks. at this point, katara likes him and does not mind the fact that he is in her house, eating her food. she walks past the kitchen to be like “what u guys up to? oh, nerd shit?” 

sokka and mai accept to the same college, and zuko isn’t sure why he feels so weird about that. they’re gonna be in completely parts of the country, only sokka and mai will see each other all the time, especially because they’re bound to be in some of the same classes together, knowing them, and that’s just weird. like, yeah, they’re friends, and yes, he might be semi-aware of the fact that they hang out without him, like, all the time, but this is different. this is weird. zuko asks mai if she thinks it’s weird and she just raises one eyebrow and goes, “no???” and zuko’s like “oh..okay..”

they don’t see each other all that much in those four years, but they’re always taking pictures of ridiculous passages from the books they’re currently reading and sending them to each other, because they just can’t kick the habit. they both learn a lot in college. sokka takes as many classes as humanly possible. zuko changes his major a lot. toph doesn’t go to school there, but she moves in with sokka once she graduates. zuko learns a lot about himself. 

once sokka graduates, he and toph decide to get an apartment in a different city. sokka asks zuko what his plans are once he graduates and zuko’s like “bruh, like i’ve ever planned for anything in my life” so when sokka’s like “wanna be our third roommate” it’s a no-brainer. 

sokka picks zuko up from the train station, and zuko is just so overwhelmed by the casual thoughtfulness of the gesture that he instinctively just kisses him, in the middle of the station. zuko is mortified for a brief moment but then sokka is just like “cool.” (sokka later inwardly laments saying “cool.” who says that?? what, is he abed from community???) 

sokka tells zuko “just fyi, i don’t do relationships” and zuko is like “yeah, i know, you say that literally every day” but then toph slaps him (”sorryyyyy that was an accident” “no it wasn’t!”) and tells him to get his shit together. so sokka goes to zuko and says, “this may sound insane, but i think i’m afraid that if i love someone, they’ll die” and zuko’s like “oh. i’m afraid of that too.” and that makes it somewhat easier. 

ever since mai made them watch over the garden wall, they’ve really wanted frogs so that they could name them after the discarded jason funderburker names. they get their frog terrarium and it’s glorious. 

zuko has always wanted a cat, but he knows how sokka feels about cats so he does not bring it up. but one day, as he’s walking down the street, he stumbles across a little black kitten in the cold, shivering, limping, and missing one ear. he drops whatever it is he’s doing at the moment to bundle it up in his scarf and take it to the nearest vet clinic. the kitten is so indebted to him that he physically does not have the willpower to let it go anywhere else but home with him. 

it really doesn’t take much convincing at all for sokka to agree to keep jiji (yes, zuko is just incapable of not naming his pets after fictional characters) especially because toph threatens to kill herself if he doesn’t. sokka is just like “woah there calm down you guys. we can keep the cat.” and theyre like “yay sokka youre the best!!!” and he’s just like “oh my god did you think i was gonna make you get rid of this tiny kitten with only one ear.” 

zuko has a face for telemarketing. he also does some freelance writing. toph gives sokka very sound legal advice in regards to how to patent all the weird yet supremely useful inventions he keeps stumbling onto. after all, after tim cook offered him $$$ in exchange for that microchip he designed, he sort of doesn’t need a steady job. toph is really good at bullshitting rich people so she makes way more money than she should with those creepy statues of hers. they recognize how unstable their sources of income are, but sokka is really good with finances, so it works out somehow. when katara comes to visit them she complains that sokka has joined the 1% and is hoarding his wealth like the capitalist swine he is. sokka’s just like “katara did you only come visit me because you need money?” and katara’s like “well i won’t lie, so – yes.” 

sokka eventually convinces zuko to go to grad school. naturally, zuko thrives there. sometimes zuko will wake up at 3 am and sokka will very intently find him writing the word “nihil” in a notebook and sokka’s like “what’s up” and zuko’s like “NOTHING.” and then proceeds to be like “don’t you see??? there’s no declension!!! everything makes sense now!!!!!!!!!” and rambles on and on incoherently. sokka’s like “oh god i just realized this is how i sound to everyone all the time.” 

sokka takes zuko to the worst plays he can find, and then they sit in a 24 hour diner while zuko rants about everything wrong with said play. sometimes he even takes notes. this becomes a weekly tradition. 

zuko reads sokka’s shelved manuscript on the history of cartography and helps him whittle it down to only 400 pages. he’s not a very harsh editor, but he did cut the thing by 150%, so that’s a start. 

zuko teaches sokka how to paint.

Where you post: I have an AO3 (lavi0123)! I used to have an FFN and a Wattpad, but I don’t use either of those anymore :/ tbh, I’m embarrassed of anything I still have up there 😂

Most popular one-shot: Most definitely we’ll give the world to you (and you’ll blow us all away), one of my contributions to Maiko Week! I’m not surprised it’s an ATLA fic, but I find it interesting that a fic with Izumi in it blew up so quickly. But hey, if y’all want more Izumi content, you won’t be disappointed 😉

Most popular multi-chapter fic: ...I’m really embarrassed to say because I don’t think I’ll ever finish it...but En Hamilton Heights is the only multichap fic I’ve published so it’s gotta be that one 😂 hopefully soon I’ll have another fic to add to that, since I’m working on one (sorry EHH fans but it’s been too long and tbh I don’t remember where I was going with it :/ I’m thinking I might orphan it)

Favorite story you’ve written so far: you think this world is a dream come true (but you’re wrong) for sure! It’s super niche but it’s something I wrote out of love for a movie I discovered this Halloween and absolutely love. Though all you’ve got to do is want something (and then let yourself have it) is a close second. Basically, anything I write that sounds absolutely bonkers as a concept is one that I love 😂 (and it’s no coincidence that both fics are Mai-centric! I love all my Mai-centric fics nearly equally)

Fic you were nervous to post: Is there an “all of the above” option? 😂 I’m always nervous to post. But in particular, I was nervous for if you ran away (come back home), because it was Mai-centric and longer than any one-shot I’d written thus far, and also you think this world is a dream come true (but you’re wrong), because it’s Mai-centric and a Coraline AU, which makes it BONKERS as an idea

Why was I nervous to post Mai-centric fics, you ask? Two reasons: 1) Mai is very different from who I am as a person (I vibe a lot more with Aang and Ty Lee, sometimes Katara and Sokka), so I didn’t want to upset the Mai stans by writing her incorrectly. 2) Mai is generally not well-liked in the fandom at large, so I especially didn’t want to attract antis who would accuse me of writing Mai as too emotional and loving (which is why I tried to justify that in my tags). Luckily, my comments have all been lovely, and I’m far less afraid to post fics about her now that I’ve written three fics with her as the focus! And the shoutout from @nonbinary-crafter-aang praising my portrayal of her?? I was touched 🥺 still am

How you choose your titles: Song lyrics or movie/book lines that speak to me, occasionally a pun. Remember that post I rb’d about how authors title their works? My tags pretty much say it all 😂

Do you outline: Ehh...define outlining 😂 for my one-shots, nope. But for my upcoming multichap works (see below) and Nanowrimo work (original fiction, so I won’t talk about it on here, but send an ask if you’re curious), YES ABSOLUTELY!

For my Nanowrimo work and one of my upcoming AUs (a Soulmate AU), the worldbuilding is so complex that it’s an absolute necessity. For the other upcoming AU (a time travel AU), there are just too many things that need to happen at certain times so as not to interfere with canon events, and things I want to change from canon and things I want to keep...I think you get the idea 😂

Complete: Basically my entire maiko halloweek series! Check it out if you want some fics about the most underrated canon ATLA couple :)

In-progress: ...En Hamilton Heights again...but not for long, sadly. Still trying to decide between a quick conclusion and just flat-out orphaning it. Still haven’t made up my mind, but either way, it won’t be what I originally planned, unfortunately.

I’m also counting my ATLA Soulmate AU on the basis of forever in my mind (only you), which has the worldbuilding and fits into the AU without much problem (the AU is going to be a series of one-shots, not a multichap fic, because there won’t be enough deviations from canon imo to justify multiple chapters. And one-shots are just less pressure for me 😂)

[EDIT 12/12/2020: added another fic because I’m an idiot and forgot about this too 🤦‍♀️😂 it’s a year-old idea that I started writing but I’m picking it back up thanks to the Heist banter in MatPat’s St Jude stream!]

-A fic series combining Escape the Night and Who Killed Markiplier (Heist and Date are part of it too, but only tangentially at the moment. Depends on how involved I want DA Y/N to be). Tentatively titled A Heavy Cost, and definitely won’t happen in any of Mark’s projects, but in a way that’s actually for the best 😂 the canonicity for me stops at ETN S3 (with some S4), then it’s canon divergence

Coming soon/not yet started: OOOH YESSS HERE WE GO

Okay okay sooo we’ve got two main things:

–An ATLA Soulmate AU, featuring platonic and romantic soulmates! I know I called it in-progress, and I stand by that even though I haven’t actually set up the series on AO3 yet, but this AU is about to be SO MUCH MORE than just a few Maiko moments. Because...drum roll...it’s gonna be entirely Aang-centric (with maybe one or two exceptions)! Like Mai, Aang is a character that doesn’t get as many -centric fics as he should (and being an Aang stan also isn’t unanimous for some reason??), so I’m gonna fix that. Plus I want to dive further into his mind, and I think I’m more equipped to do that than I was with Mai, since Aang and I are very similar in attitude.

–Bumizumi time travel AU, which can be read as platonic until the last couple chapters (it’ll be multichap) but definitely has a romantic agenda throughout. So just. Be warned if you don’t ship them. It’s gonna be chock full of comedy and antics! Also A LOT of platonic affection between Izumi and teen Zuko (and just between Izumi, Bumi, and the Gaang in general), because platonic affection is underrated and also I can :D I’m also probably gonna make fun of how some elements of affection have become solely romantic territory, because...um, no, hugging and holding hands and cuddling can be done between friends, thanks! (Maybe it’s the ace in me talking. But regardless)

There are also vague concepts I’m spitballing, like:

-Zukaang telepathy AU (Platonic Zukaang, the only romance I’ll ever write in ATLA is for the canon ships, prompted by a dream because apparently ATLA lives in my head rent-free forever now 😂)

-Evil Zuko AU (Azula doesn’t exist, mostly prompted after watching Aang make fun of Zhao and realizing that if Zuko had been in any position of power during the War...the Gaang would have stood no chance at all)

-Bumizumi Arranged Marriage AU (Bumi and Izumi both think the other is hotheaded/reckless (Izumi @ Bumi) or uptight (Bumi @ Izumi). So Kataang and Maiko (along with Sukka, Ty Lee, and Toph because...duh) set them up in an arranged marriage, with the presented reasoning being that they already know each other’s families, it’ll be a great symbol of unity, and this way Izumi doesn’t have to worry about suitors. They both agree to it (it’s arranged, not forced), and over time, they warm up to each other...and maybe even...fall in love?? Prompted because we need more arranged marriage fics! On that note, I’m gonna plug shadows and steel by @dearestpartnerofgreatness because arranged marriage needs more rep and this fic does it and with Maiko to boot!)

-Zukaang as Brothers AU (I saw a fic about this, but it wasn’t complete. If it’s not done by the time I get to this concept, I’m gonna write it, because just...imagine the possibilities! Zuko and Aang are already basically brothers in canon anyway, this is just making them brothers in blood as well as in their hearts. This is especially vague because I have no concept of how this is gonna work 🤷‍♀️ I’ll get to it eventually)

[EDIT 11/25/2020: I’m adding two more because I forgot these have been swirling around in my head too 😂]

-A fix-it fic based on May You Always Be Satisfied, a backstory fic for Who Killed Markiplier by @blackaquokat! I recently reread it and remembered that I was gonna write a fix-it for that fic. Not because the fic sucks, it’s actually amazing! I’m just a sucker for the main (requited unrequited) pairing, and there’s at least five ways to make that pairing canon and avoid the mess of Who Killed Markiplier. And THEY ALL DESERVE TO BE HAPPY OKAY

-A Finnrey fix-it for the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy (this one is especially vague, and I probably won’t write it since a bunch of these already exist, but it’s fun to think about. Maybe if I ever run out of WIPs 🤷‍♀️)

Upcoming story that you’re most excited to write: I’m equally excited for the Soulmate AU and the Bumizumi Time Travel AU! I’m also excited for my Nanowrimo work to be finished, but that’s more so in-progress than upcoming

the master plotting post is below the cut. it’s kinda long so good luck fam. it’s really more about where my character are and how they’re doing but i am hoping that will help us both brainstorm some ideas together. i have put trigger warnings next to each individual blurb so that way if you’re worried about anything you can read the rest while skipping any that are potentially triggering. this is just where characters are starting a few of them i may still update, especially for characters who fears i haven’t completely worked out. toss this a like if you’d be interested in plotting and i will come to you! i will get another call out specifically for starters closer to the event

level 1: windstorm

asami sato / the legend of korra / unaware

girl is not really phased by the windstorm and will be pushing through and probably wind up leveling up. she’ll also be offering to help where she can so like if any characters need help to level up or just get by she will be around we can def do something. she’ll probably be getting pieces of her memories back in the storm but nothing concrete. probably one of my characters who realistically has a chance of making it to the safe zone. definitely open to teaming up

plots: anyone else trying to level up she can work with, someone to help out

blue sargent / the raven cycle / aware

not entirely sure what my plan for her is tbh. she’s seen like all the wild shit washington has thrown and honestly might try to find somewhere to bunker down and wait it out or maybe level up but either way she’ll be a fun mixed of chill yet pissed while on this level. not freaking out but annoyed after all of the things that happened her. a potential reluctant teammate

my one character? who is terrified for storms? caught in the windstorm? asdlfkjad incredible. anyway max is going to be freaking out and almost definitely stuck here the whole time she is terrified of storms and will be hoping to find a nice corner to crawl in and stay in with her hands over her ears

she will absolutely be leveling up. river is a high energy adventurer who is so shit at sitting still there’s no way she’s not moving up. honestly will be pretty unbothered in this level at least. i may give her some flashes of her parents from the windstorm to kind of set her on edge. down to team up though she’s always out for herself first and will ditch partners as needed

plots: let her be a chaotic teammate for someone, an injury she reluctantly treats as she tries to get out of there

pansy parkinson / harry potter / aware

honestly she’s mostly just tired and pissed. pansy, though obnoxious, is logical and focused on her own survival first. she’ll probably wind up finding a save space to be and see this thing out. if anyone needs some slightly less chaotic plots she’s probably someone good to hit up. she could be open to being the obnoxious teammate someone has ever had.

his nightmares are p limited ngl since being dead kind of takes away a lot of fears. i mean his main one was passing on and he did that last season so, i guess it’ll kinda be his powers. of course he’s mostly afraid of losing control and hurting people, but he’ll probably just be seeing/dealing with vague eldritch creatures. could maybe deal with his fear long enough but that’s really the only way he’s potentially leveling up. potentially open to teaming up

plots: some people he helps, teammates, maybe someone he accidentally hurts cause he does have powers and he may lash out when spooked so could cause an inury,

her fears are complicated. like ? she mostly fears and hates herself lmao. i suppose she has some fear of the gods in her world but they aren’t really violent and can only hurt her if she hurts a human so she might be seeing them and getting freaked out and jumpy and convinced she’s gonna do something that ultimately gets her destroyed. honestly though, she’s at the second most stable she’s been in a while (a step down since chan sung’s memory loss) so she will be making her way to level 3 at some point.

plots: uh, maybe someone she almost lashes out and hurts but manages to last minute hold back, someone she helps/protects to avoid her own problems, though she wouldn’t be nice about it rip

this is my emotional support idiot he doesn’t really have any tangible fears not because he’s strong he’s just dumb, will be running straight into things trying to help people out. i would say he should get hurt but this man has survivridiculouslysly well on luck and charisma so far and i don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon. if i think of a fear for him i will update this. will probably find someone who looks strong to leech off of and feel safer around. you just know this idiot is writing a song about the whole experience as it occurs.

aaah um i’m not entirely decided on what her fear is yet at the moment but she’ll be doing her best to deal with it. honestly i don’t think she’ll be leveling up karolina is strong but struggling without her memories in terms of fighting. i might have her see her dad a bit even though she won’t recognize him she’ll feel the fear

plots: any sort of teammates cause she works well in groups, maybe someone who sees her attempting to use her powers to fight things off

so kyoshi is not afraid of much. she’s a seven foot tall beast of a woman/nerd so of course she isn’t, but, i’m saying she’s afraid of clowns, because kyoshi is gonna panic and wind up bending in defense. of course she has no memories so she’s gonna spend the rest of the event like ‘hey what the fuck was that????’ honestly she may be able to level up but she’ll probably be focusing on helping people in level 2 as best she can

so toph’s fears will probably include not having any earth around or below her. honestly this fear is less about her seismic sense and not being able to tell where things are around her. her other senses are still good even if it’s really not ideal and that will be partially upsetting, it’s more about feeling like she lost her earthbending. she’s also terrified of heights after dangling off of the warship in the finale so i might do something with that. i doubt she’s leveling up. down to reluctantly team up.

leveling up: no

plots: would be willing to team up but she’s feeling a little useless and stressed so how great she’d be as a partner would be mixed, she could cause an injury if anyone wants since she can’t sense any earth but i’m assuming there’s still going to be things she can bend around, so maybe some sort of an accident with that, honestly let her make a friend she’s not against help from friends will hold onto their arm most of the time

level 3: poisoned supernaturals

ciel phantomhive / black butler / aware 

gun tw: this boy has already had bad experiences with supernaturals so he’s not in a good mood about any of this. he’s got a gun and his concerns are himself and lizzie and that is about it. he knows physical strength is not his strong suit and has no intention of trying to fight his way out. may try and play the small defenseless boy card if he needs to in order to get some help and protection from actual nice humans on the level. not available to team up. available to trip another character while they’re both fleeing from the same thing.

leveling up: no

plots: someone who he injures, someone who injures him, a human he partners up with and could betray cause he’s a selfish little shit if that’s something someone’s interested in, or some human who’s physically strong who he pays to be around him as some sort of safety

dominique weasley / harry potter / aware

not a huge chance she’s doing anything but staying here and going ape shit. does not really have the willpower to manage to fight off the poison. is solidly in the middle between barely dangerous to destructive beast.

plots: a feral crew, someone she hurts, someone who tries to snap her out of it, anything

elsa of arendelle / frozen / aware 

ice queen time babey! will be pretty destructive and very dangerous. open to her killing someone’s character if anyone wants since i’d love her to be upset about that after the fact. she already thinks she’s a danger let’s prove it!! she might wind up fighting off the poison but idk it would take a hot minute since she’s had a lot of stress and frustration lately and it’ll be coming out!! she’s ready to do some damage

plots: someone she hurts and can feel real guilty about, someone who tries to snap her out of it

entrapta / she-ra / unaware

not nearly as concerned about danger as she should be. probably out here purposely trying to approach supernaturals to get a blood sample i hate her. not looking for her to die but could be open to a semi-serious injury. might level up ngl if she finds decent tech she will be able to defend herself. open to team ups but she’s not a great team partner

leveling up: maybe

plots: teammates. maybe someone who teams up with her to use her more than anything since she can build attack bots with really any scraps she can find so she’s good for people looking for defense and will not be able to tell she’s being used

glinda upland / wicked / aware

me realizing just this second glinda probably counts as a supernatural cause she’s got magic:  👁👄👁 so yeah uh this one is difficult i think she’ll be working to fight it off. even with poison she would not be good at being violent fam.

plots: uuuh poisoned people trying to push her to the dark side, someone trying to help her fight it off, maybe a human she fights but doesn’t hurt, or if so it’s something minor, anything

haruhi fujioka / ouran high school host club / aware 

does not know what’s going on and isn’t sure they want to. tbh slightly similar to entrapta in the sense that they can manage self defense alright. they’re going to pepper spray a supernatural so fucking hard i swear to god. they aren’t like a super amazing fighter and sometimes they’re too reckless and stubborn for their own good, but haruhi is smart, and will probably mostly be hiding. they could be available for trying to help out other humans on the level

leveling up: maybe 

plots: single teammate or group of humans getting by, a not too strong supernatural for her to fight cause i don’t want her getting too hurt, but could be up for a small injury, anyone she helps

ji eun tak / goblin / aware 

lmao so technically eun tak has powers but they aren’t fighting powers she can just see ghosts but technically this still counts as powers so she’s affected. this doesn’t make her any stronger though she’s just angry but like not a threat. here is a picture of eun tak as provided by kasey (x). like the worst shes gonna manage is to mug someone and honestly, that is probably her goal. my girl has lived her whole life poor and she’s ready to make some bank

most popular multichapter fic: sdkjflakjlkj it’s two crowned kings; and one that stood alone, which is a w359 fic i wrote back in late 2017. it’s literally the last fic i haven’t orphaned from when i actually wrote podcast fic (i have 4 other podcast fics but they were all borne out of nostalgia and written after i stopped participating in the fandom). i rewrote all but the last chapter? the last two? about a year ago and i fucked up halfway through so like chapter 6 and 7 are repeated and there’s something missing but i’m too lazy to fix it. no one’s going to read it now anyway :) it WAS the top minlace fic for a little while tho which i take great pride in.

favorite story you’ve written so far: oh that’s a hard question akfsldkfj i honestly like most of them!! and i write a LOT so there’s a lot to choose from. tonight, we are young is def one of my favorites- it was fun to write and i got to explore the ways zuko and yue r similar, which i LOVE to do outside of a zukka/yukka view. you can lean on my arm as you break my heart  is one that i’m really proud of? the whole “cooking as an expression of bato’s love” is definitely some of my favorites. a lot of my ace attorney fics would be categoried as my favorites if i hadn’t improved, too, if that makes sense. like they’re no long my favorites because i can see where my writing is shitty and it bothers me, but if i had written them a month ago they’d be my favorite.

fic you were nervous to post: figures 1-5: killing gods def!! it’s a lot more purple-prose-y than most of my fics and it was also written before i’d kinda like emersed myself in the atla fandom so i didn’t have as good a grasp on the general understanding of zuko’s character as i do now. tbh it’s one i’m rly happy w tho!! i have a few people leave really nice comments on it and rereading them makes me really happy. also it was the start of me hating the position of fire lord and being at least passively anti-it in my fics.

how you choose your titles: they’re almost all song lyrics!! only 14 of my 50 words AREN’T song lyrics and about half of those are from before i started writing ace attorney fic lol. sometimes i go into a fic with a song in mind for the vibes and then i usually go with lyrics from that (like in ‘cuz we’re the greatest /they’ll hang us in the louvre), but otherwise i usually pick an artist i’ve been listening to and go through their songs until i find a lyric that fits. sometimes the lyric doesn’t even really fit the fic and i just chose it at random or because i searching up the word “fly” in my spotify library or whatever. honestly i like coming up with titles? i know a lot of fic writers hate it but being able to just use song lyrics is v soothing for me and while i know that most people won’t search out a song just bc it’s a fic title like.. seeing that the title of a fic is a hozier lyric does affect how i read it and i kinda like that.

do you outline? i outline my long form/multichaptered fics with varying strictness. usually anything over ~8k will have some kind of outline. sometimes i go into it with every single scene planned out, sometimes it’s just notes on the side of the google doc that say “it's about MORE family. about how it's not betraying your existing family to find more” and “scenes i want to include: [...]” and “vampires... ngl kinda hot.” i’m trying to outline super strictly less bc i’ve found it’s less fun? but i do try to keep a plot arc in mind. since most of my fics are more character-driven than plot-driven, that usually just means keeping track of what character development i want to happen or what is motiviating the characters. 

complete: um everything posted on ao3 i guess. also the MULTITUDE of orphaned fics out there asksfjldkj i always click ‘leave my pseud on’ so if u look up my username you see all of my fics and then a. lot of other ones.

in progress: - a fic titled ‘dad phoenix’ that is actually just a no DL-6 au with defense attorney miles edgeworth and single dad bartender phoenix where neither of them want to date for A While but phoenix gets wrapped up in one of miles’s cases. it’s about family. it’s about writing teenagers. it’s about the background franmaya which is ALWAYS what i’m here for in wrightworth fics - a franmaya werewolf/vampire au because i’m ~gay~ and love rivals to lovers and also franziska and maya both being angry their older brothers r dating each other. - my secret santa fic!! which i can’t talk about much but it does feature toph and zuko and also piandao and jeong jeong???? idk where they came from but they are Part Of The Fic Now also i forgot iroh existed for half the fic and wrote piandao as zuko’s father figure and now i’m in too deep. - a 5+1 bakoda fic (maybe a bato/hakoda/kay fic??? i need to decide. that’s part of why this fic is still incomplete bc i can’t decide which relationship dynamic i prefer) that’s 5 times bato said he loves hakoda and one time hakoda said it back. possibly i have already written him saying i love u back and i need to change the title a little. - retail au klapollo where klavier works at an overpriced boutique and apollo comes in to buy earrings for nahyuta’s birthday. klavier gives him a punch card (one that the store doesn’t actually offer anymore as a bid to get apollo to come back) and all of apollo’s family come in to use the punch card and also give klavier variations on the shovel talk/find out if he’s actually into apollo. - a LOT of atla fics that i don’t think i’ll ever finish :(

coming soon/not yet started:  - i want to write some blackmadhi bc they’re.. cute..... and it’s a good excuse to also write athena and i love her - my stuff for yueki week!!! i have NOT prepped enough but hopefully i’ll remember in time! i wrote the prompts in a way that kinda set up stuff i’ve already wanted to write (don’t look at me lol) so hopefully i’ll get at least two or three fics finished in time. - i want to rewrite the wrightworth fic i have about them not getting married bc it was interesting and i like what i wrote about but i think i could have written it better and made it more interesting. rewriting fics is hard tho bc i’m never sure if it makes sense to just edit in the new work or to repost it? and then if u repost it do u delete the old one? conflicting so i might just not

Hello and welcome to another Dirty Kuvira Apologist(TM) direct! Forgive me for being me, I'm just updating in a (hopefully) brief way, sharing where I'm at with my fandom stuff to anyone who's interested. I've been more inconsistent than I'd like to be, not that I desire to be inconsistent. Where to start!

1. ROTE's ending fucking sucks.

This is probably known but I need to admit it for my mental health. My optimism has only hurt me when it comes to trying to rationalize Ruins' ending, because there is no rationalizing that which wasn't rationalized in the first place, rationally. I can and will rant about this topic when I have the internet to do so with, but I attested all throughout Ruins' publication that it was doing just fine as a Kuvira comeback story, and heck I still do! ...Except for the ending. That terrible horrible embarrassing confusing mess of an ending. It's so hard to explain, gosh it's such a damn mess. Basically, Kuvira got a happy ending but it's hard to be happy about it when you realize how it gets there. Whether you look at is as abuse or incompetency (the latter can lead to the former tbh), Ruins' ending tries to make Kuvira's defiance out to be a flaw, eeeeven though it's the only reason that Team Avatar is saved and Guan is defeated. For her to be forced to say she is 100% guilty on all fronts of her life is proven by Ruins itself to be utterly, painfully falsified. Ruins' ending belongs to a different fucking book, and even then I don't think it should've gotten past the beta-reader stage. Kuvira (after forfeiting the Empire) is doing good and is nowhere near as dangerous as ROTE suddenly decided she was. Also: does Bryke is toxic assholes? Who can say. At this rate it certainly won't be them. No I'm not salty I'm more accurately sour and bitter as all Hell. But!! Here's what's sweet...!!

2. Life From The Ashes.

Like I said in one of my recentish posts...Fanon vs. Canon. Fiction is formless and sometimes even the original author doesn't know what exactly they were doing. If you don't like a certain detail in a story, you just follow Joker's random but applicable advice from Batman: Arkham City: "You can ignore it. Just, delete it!"

This is all a very roundabout way of saying I'm writing a fucking alternate ending for Ruins of the Empire ya'll. And considering my first actual fanfic was a 120,000 word fifth season for LOK, this should be as easy as taking candy from a prepubescent child. (In fact, rewriting Ruins would be a perfect segway into rewriting that first fanfic, so I'm kinda glad about that.) Cuz here's the thing! Ruins' ending didn't just corrupt Kuvira's closure, but it also made the new govenor plot peeter out in a very unsatisfying way! Just "yeah do whatever you want guys, work it out I guess." Like wtf? If Kuvira's ending had been clean, I would've been able to overlook the main plot getting essentially dropped, but no, both were smothered. So, in the spirit of restoration, why not combine them?

I know, I know, it's a bit of a longshot, and I already said this once in a theory/prediction a few months ago, but Toph DID already register a spot for a Miss Beifong to become governor, so why let that go to waste? ;) That'll be the candy-stealing part to figure out. Not to mention why the FRICK would you include Korra and Kuvira back-to-back on the cover when that never actually happened in Part 3??? Not even metaphorically!! I'll have to recitify that aspect as well. If you've seen uh ANY of my posts here, you should be painfully aware that I am outrageously fond of the idea of "the K girls" becoming friends. I'll be reserved about it I promise! This ending will be a beginning is all! If you catch my (platonic) drift. I aim to make everything overall not only more human and understanding for Kuvira, but a realistic 50/50 "one step at a time" vibe in general as well.

Soooo yeah. I got plans, ya'll. Take heart. Bryke may have given Kuvira life but they don't have the authority in how she gets to live it. The fans do. It may not happen for a little while yet, but I will most certainly brief those interested in my ideas for my alternate ending in the meantime. And if you want spoilers for my original ending extended thoughts just imagine me with a headache cussing out Bryke lol.

In other news, been playing Yoshi's Island lately. Adorable ass game it is.

Favorite character: Sokka probably has an edge, although Azula and Toph come very close.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): I was mostly about Sokka ships, tbh (Sokka/Zuko, Azula/Sokka, Sokka/Yue, Sokka/Suki). I loved the Dangerous Ladies.

Character I find most attractive: 10-12yo me had Thoughts on Azula lmfao.

An unpopular opinion: not only did I not give a single fuck in the Aang/Katara vs. Katara/Zuko shipwars... I shipped Katara with Jet :P

Pairing I am not a fan of: I don’t have notps per se, but fandom has made me rme at a few ships.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): the Dangerous Ladies. I wanted more of them in the second half of s3 (Mai and Ty Lee were MIA), and I was let down by all three of their endings (Mai’s maybe wasn’t bad, but I was underwhelmed; Ty Lee’s felt like a betrayal to her character; and Azula’s makes me bitter to this day. And now, I don’t fucking care about whether the comics did or didn’t do anything to fix it).

Favourite Friendship: Sokka & Zuko, Sokka & Katara, Dangerous Ladies.

Character I most identify with: both Mai and Ty Lee xD

Character I wish I could be: Toph. I would love to be more like Toph LOL. Or Aang.

Legend of Korra

Favorite character: Korra. No contestants.

Least Favorite character: though a few of them annoyed me way back when, I don’t harbour strong feelings against them now either.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Korra/Kuvira and... that’s it. There were some canon ships or combos I found vaguely amusing, or cute, or interesting from a meta POV, but only Kurvira has ~withstood the test of time~~ lmao. Like I’ve often said, ask me about a popular femslash ship and I’ll tell you the antagonistic ship I’d pick over it any day.

Character I find most attractive: either Korra (especially with short hair) or Kuvira. I’m... very into both their vibes lol. Lin was hot too.

Character I would marry: Asami, see above reasoning xD

Character I would be best friends with: mm. Korra, maybe.

a random thought: I prefer LOK’s last season over ATLA’s because it didn’t disappoint me LOL (and actually, I quite liked it. I care about Korra’s arc and little more in this show, and I was more than satisfied in that regard).

An unpopular opinion: I have no preferences whatsoever in the Asami/Korra/Mako triangle, beyond being glad about a f/f relationship in a kid’s show (though I don't think it's as undeniably canon as others seem to tbh).
