Royalty send their kids to Aflea under the assumption that they will get good magic education while also teaching their kids how to be future rulers, completely unaware that all the staff are fucking cartoon characters who choose chaos every time.

btw young royals' central thesis for wille is still "the problem isn't that he likes a boy, the problem is that he's a prince" and people need to remember that
also I was going to put the rest in the tags but yknow what
yes I KNOW he can't realistically abdicate YET, but I'm saying it's the best resolution for him and not just because it would give him and simon an easier time!! if the fandom weren't so caught up in yelling about how the only happy or good ending is wilmon endgame (seperate rant that I texted avie yesterday but not the point of this post) maybe we could have a discussion about wille abdicating would be more for himself than any relationship he may or may not be in.
even if he and simon broke up the source of his problems would still lie PRIMARILY with the monarchy, and removing himself from that would be the first step to HIM recovering and healing and growing, not his relationship w simon. that's a seperate matter and seperate problem that can only be properly addressed after abdication because while he is a prince and part of a corrupted and vicious system, he cannot be a good person to himself, simon, or any of his friends and family.

I love reading your kagehina posts!! Sometimes I see stuff like they aren't even friends 😭 and probably drifted apart and partner in sports is different from actual friendship lmao
Thank you!
dfghhjkl yeah i've seen those claims and I firmly believe that anyone who's saying any of that needs to take reading comprehension 101. I've talked about this claim a little bit here but to reiterate, kageyama and hinata's bond- their unique connection, the meaningfulness of it, the way that they support and teach and learn from each other- is one of the core aspects of the series. Like, there were so many instances of people commenting about how special their relationship was that I made a list. This post here I think are also relevant to addressing this. (if you couldn't tell, i talk about this a lot lol. But I don't mind talking about it some more)
Point is, they mean a lot to each other. And yes, haikyuu does make a point of showing how volleyball isn't always a 1 v 1 comparison to irl and how volleyball doesn't have to mean everything to be meaningful but at the same time, that's inapplicable to hinata and kageyama because the other side of that coin is that sometimes, volleyball is everything. It could not possibly be more in your face that Kageyama and Hinata formed an instantaneous connection and became a duo to be feared like overnight because they recognized that the other person is exactly like them- someone who will give everything for volleyball, who will never give up, a person who complements them. and understands them. Kageyama's little backstory moment that changed everything (and fucked me up permanently) is that he's been waiting for (someone like) Hinata his entire life. So what if they're not be hanging out 24/7 outside of volleyball? (which they do hang out outside of matches btw later on in life, kageyama asked hinata to play beach vb with kunimi and kindaichi) They already have a mutual understanding about the importance of volleyball in their lives. Also like, even in the last chapter/panel of haikyuu literally just reiterates that for the two of them, volleyball and each other and intrinsically intertwined elements and that they intend on revolving around each other as partner/rivals for the rest of their lives.
If we're looking only at the anime, that list i linked above is entirely taken from season. Like, the the sheer weight of kageyama "i can spike, toss, etc by myself" tobio saying the words "as long as you're with me, you're invincible" like 1-2 episodes later?? This bullshit where kageyama extracts a promise from hinata to follow him to the top of the world still happens in the anime too. That bit in the first Seijoh match where Kageyama says that Oikawa's going to set to Iwaizumi, not because it's the most logical move but because he trusts him so innately that it's the most natural move to make and then going on to make the exact same set to Hinata in the same match?? The extra animated linger on Kageyama and Hinata's fingers touching as they stop the Miya's quick? Oikawa and Atsumu both saying that Kageyama's "wrapped around Hinata's finger"?
Like come on now, does this look like two people who are going to drift apart? Be for real. They're too obsessed with each other to do that.

Hello! I saw your thing about diegetic vs non-diegetic BDSM, during which you mentioned Bonding. Assuming you meant the Netflix show of two seasons, may I ask what your issues with it were? I'm relatively new to the world of kink and Bonding felt like a fun show to me, but I'm always happy to be educated in what is good representation in media!
so I want to start by saying that my opinion on the show is not some kind of objective moral stance or particularly coherent, I just didn't like it and it rubbed me the wrong way. and there were some fun moments but for me it wasn't worth wading through all the unfun stuff to get to them.
the first thing that made me very "eeehhhh" about it was that it came off from the start as poorly researched, and written primarily by people who aren't involved in the community at all. both because of the absolutely baffling aesthetic choices (why. why is there a white shag carpet in a dungeon. why is there any carpet in a dungeon but especially why is there a wall to wall white shag carpet. who's cleaning that every day) and because of the general framing/tone. the show seems to be saying that it's trying to humanize kink and give a realistic/positive portrayal of the community, but it portrays all the pro domme main character's clients as weird/pathetic/awkward for their preferences and the audience is pretty clearly meant to laugh at them. even going into the second season, when they were trying to backpedal after the backlash they got from the first one, they have this tendency to fall back on this othering look-at-these-freaks subtext even while the text is trying to say the opposite. and everyone is so intensely catty and judgemental toward each other and while of course you can find people/social groups like that, it's very much the opposite of what I've personally experienced overall. most of the people I know will absolutely fall over themselves to help and give advice to newcomers and make them feel welcome.
and you absolutely could make a comedy/drama centered around kink without resorting to treating it like a freak show. funny shit happens all the time and this is an objectively ridiculous hobby. it's just that the way they approached it in Bonding always felt vaguely disingenuous and mean-spirited to me.
part of it is definitely also that I just don't like shows where all the characters are just kind of dicks. and most of the conflicts could be avoided if literally anyone would stop choosing to be a dick for no good reason and communicate. that's a big pet peeve for me with any show.

vent ig. but it’s a pain realizing over and over that hardly anyone prominently in my life is really gonna take me as serious as i take everyone else serious. people will shit themselves over adults let alone older teens enjoy something childish in a childish way despite being obsessed with nostalgia and shit like that. it fucking pisses me off. i don’t mind growing up but I get so sad realizing that my irl friends and family will never take me serious or accept that I wanna be weird and childish even as an adult now. like. it’s so fucking heartbreaking. why is the world like this. I fear I might be the biggest over thinker but it’s still true enough that it bothers me this much (however I trust online pals. you guys get it)

maybe my toxic workplace trait is that I'm a snob about tea, but one day my director poured some tapwater in a carton gobelet over a lipton teabag and microwaved it for one minute before handing it to me so actually I'm the traumatized one here and they should give me a kettle with a thermometer and a triple 3-5-8 minutes hourglass as legal compensation

much as I enjoy talking about, say, the reasons I think that Lucille seeming attracted to Edith was intentional, I sort of feel bad for for people who feel the need to defend their shipping choices with essays pointing out every single canon detail that could conceivably be interpreted as support
if someone demands that you justify a ship you like, “what are you, a cop?” is a perfectly appropriate response

anyways if going “i think i’m annoying. i should simply stop thinking i’m annoying” isn’t working out for you, consider going “i think i’m annoying. i can use this for comedy”. if mentally removing the properties from yourself isn’t something you’re capable of, shifting your perception of the properties can be helpful. maybe it’s funny to be a little annoying. people love when cats are a little annoying. everyone who’s ever had a sibling knows that being a bit of a dick can be extremely funny. and beyond that, surrounding yourself with people tolerant of flaws as small as “occasionally acts in a way that i personally find superficially unpleasant”, who will instead celebrate those aspects of you, will be helpful in the long run for your mental health. what’s really so bad about being a little annoying? it means you willing to put yourself out there and have people around you who, more often than not, enjoy you being at 200%. something something “strengths and weaknesses are just based on perception”. are you annoying, or are you earnest? are you rude, or are you direct? are you strong-willed and independent, or are you incapable of asking for help and self-destructive? are you sweet and friendly, or are you conflict-avoidant? the truth is, you’re always both, depending completely on the situation. so be a littleb bit annoying. it’ll be fun.

But it's interesting - why did we make those cuts?
Well, we might say that we made them out of respect for our reader. By asking that series of questions ("Why is it meaningful for Jane to sit on a couch?" and so on), we were serving as a sort of advance man for a reader we are assuming to be a smart person, of good taste, a person we wouldn't want to bore.
Consider this passage:
Entering the restaurant, Jim saw his ex-wife, Sara, sitting closely beside a man who looked to be at least 20 years younger than her. Jim couldn't believe it. It was shocking to see Sara with someone so much younger than her, younger than Jim too, since he and Sara were the same age, so shocking that Jim dropped his car keys.
"Sir," the waiter said, "you dropped these," and handed Jim his car keys.
You may have noted your needle dipping into the N zone in there somewhere, maybe a couple times (a dip and then a subdip?).
Now consider this edited version:
Entering the restaurant, Jim saw his ex-wife, Sara, sitting beside a man who looked to be at least 20 years younger than her.
"Sir," the waiter said, "you dropped these," and handed Jim his car keys.
So, what just happened? Well, I cut "Jim couldn't believe it. It was shocking to see Sara with someone so much younger than her, younger than Jim too, since he and Sara were the same age, so shocking that Jim dropped his car keys."
The difference in the two versions is that the latter version has more respect for you, the reader, built into it. The ideas "Jim couldn't believe it" and "It was shocking" are contained in the action of Jim dropping his keys. I made the leap of faith that you'd assume Jim and Sara to be about the same aid. And process, I've saved myself and you thirty-seven words - about half the total length of the original bit...
A story is a frank, intimate conversation between equals. We keep reading because we continue to feel respected by the writer.

Doodles of my Dreamtale AU (first mentioned here but I have lots more updated art posted) because it has a hold on me again and I just scrapped practically the entire story lol.
Tumblr media
Also here's a possible adult Papyrus design. If Sans gets extra appendages and a fucked up eye, so does Papyrus. I don't make the rules lmao.
This au's story got so big and so messy and I really haven't been able to find a way to put it all together in a way I'm satisfied with, so the story is going to be much closer to the og undertale story with a lot of stuff reworked in the setting and with certain characters' stories and whatnot.
