IT WAS SO INCREDIBLY TIRING.

Another bleak day without you or that damned sorcerer and Lucifer could feel himself nearing closer to the edge with each passing hour, waiting for the tomorrow you’d show back up with a smile.

Everyone was worried about your sudden disappearances without any trace, but life had to go on whether they liked it or not

Lucifer rested his head on his fist as he took notes of the repetitive student council meetings that Diavolo had requested, trying to avoid the sight of your empty seat.

The prince was aware that no one felt like doing it (hell he could barely fake a smile himself) but you being missing didn’t make it okay to neglect the Devildom or RAD, which everybody clearly agreed with in their begrudging attendance.

Suddenly a gust of wind made everyone look up in confusion, covering their eyes, when a bright flash of white light and the sound of a portal being opened surprised them.

There Solomon was, he looked like a mess clutching your body in bridal style as he stepped out of the portal, head hanging low.

Before anyone could say anything, he shocked them again

As soon as he was on solid ground he dropped to his knees, making sure to put your body down gently and cradled your hand to his lips with his own shaking ones. Tears streamed down his cheeks, a sight that was less than rare for the immortal sorcerer that always sported a smile.

Mammon was the first to speak up, standing up from his chair so quickly he pushed it over, he quickly rushed to the humans' side as he looked at Solomon. “What’s this? Where the hell have ya been? What’s wrong with Mc?” He urged Solomon with panic evident in his voice.

His words caused a chain reaction from all the brothers and Luke, talking over each other and surrounding the two as the sorcerer tried to cease the quiet sobs escaping out of his mouth.

“Silence!” Lucifer finally spoke up and made his way to the scene. At his words the six demons and the angel stopped talking, looking at their older brother expectantly.

“Solomon, what happened?” He asked in a uncharacteristically soft tone.

Solomon's head shot up, his whole demeanor changing drastically as he met Lucifer’s ruby eyes. The whole room noticed the ice in his glare. The still seated beings quickly got up, feeling a storm brewing.

Solomon softly let go of your hand and stood up, not breaking eye contact for even a second as he headed straight to the after of pride. “You…”

Suddenly, his hands clutched Lucifer’s collar in a burst of rage. “You did this to Mc! This is all your fault!” He screamed at Lucifer, shaking the demon violently.

Simeon and Barbatos quickly dragged the struggling sorcerer away from him before he could cause any real harm while the others watched in terror. They’d never seen Solomon like this before and it scared them.

To everyone’s surprise Lucifer did not retaliate. In fact he did not do anything but stand and stare at Solomon as he yelled the most crude things they’d ever heard at him.

Solomon finally stopped trying to get to Lucifer, wiping his eyes as he turned to him one last time with a disgusted look on his usually-smiling features.

“You killed Mc, Lucifer.”

A KNOCK ON THE DOOR of his bedroom shook Lucifer out of the deep depths of his own mind as he sat at his desk with a half empty glass of expensive aged demonus.

His first brother poked his head trough the bedroom door, unintentionally giving Lucifer a pity filled look.

“Can I come in?”

The question was unusual for Mammon, as he often opted to just burst in whether he had permission or not.

Lucifer nodded, and he walked in, tear stains on his face. He softly closed the door and took a seat on the empty chair in front of his older brother.

Mammon bit the inside of his cheek, deep in thought for a while. He looked down at his hands, playing with a loose thread on his jeans. “So I talked with Simeon who talked with, erm, Solomon.” The younger started but stopped to check his reaction.

He downed the last of the demonus as if to prepare himself for whatever was coming. (Which judging for Mammons demeanor couldn’t be good.)

“So? What did he say?”

“He uhm- No matter what, it’s not yer fault, Lucifer, you didn’t- I mean, it wasn’t you, at least not really-!” Mammon’s words did not comfort Lucifer in the slightest, especially when he kept cutting himself off. “You have to know that, you have promise not to blame yourself, okay!?”

He sighed at the ranting and the stalling, he couldn’t stand to wait any longer. “Just tell me, Mammon!”

The other demon looked at him with big eyes but slowly nodded.

“When Mc disappeared, they ended up in the past, our past to be exact. When we first came to the Devildom. Solomon followed them to help but the only way they could come back was if they reformed all the pacts they made with us seven. To make things easier Solomon told them to lie about being a demon. But the bond with us was so strong that they could still use the pact to command us. Which, they did and everyone found out the truth.”

He swallowed as tears started to well up in his blue eyes.

“That version of you was betrayed and angry. That Lucifer didn’t trust Mc after they lied, he felt threatened and in an attempt to protected us you…”

“I killed them.”

Mammon stood up, slamming his hands harshly on the wooden desk. “No, you didn’t! That was not you!”

“I killed them.” Lucifer stared blankly ahead, his face void of any sort of emotion, oddly calm in a way that worried the avatar of greed greatly.

Now Mammon started to full on cry, panicking at the sight and unable to do anything, his heart hurting for the demon. “Lucifer, please…”

Lucifer’s heart also hurt, he knew couldn’t promise Mammon anything.

This feeling, it didn’t even feel like a heartbreak, it felt like his whole body was pulled apart from limb to limb and thorn into little minuscule pieces. His head was spinning due to a horrible headache that he hadn’t felt before. His heart started speeding up rapidly as the gravity of the situation started to settle in.

There would be no days to look forward to with you in his arms anymore and there would be no more tomorrows with you.

“I killed Mc.”

OBEY ME NIGHTBRINGER ANALYSIS (because ooooh boy do I have thoughts on it)

QUICK DISCLAIMERS:

1 - To everyone that's upset for spending money and time on the og Obey Me only for it to be abandoned, you're 100% valid and on the right to complain, and I totally support y'all that have decided to not play the game anymore because of it. While I do have some problems with how the fandom dealt with this whole ordeal, I have absolutely no complaints about anyone who's sad over that.

2 - Yes, Nightbringer's marketing was confusing at best and intentionally misleading at worst. This analysis and my overall opinion on the game are not meant to overlook Solmare's terrible decisions on this part. And, just like the case above, y'all who are upset about that are completely in the right.

3 - Since I'm analyzing the game itself, I'll not be talking any further about either of the topics mentioned above.

4 - Lastly, this is all MY OPINION. I'm not stating that anything I'm saying is a fact. I'm saying things as I see them, and you're totally free to disagree. And it's kind of sad that I have to state this, but oh well, this is the internet

With that being said, let's get on it, shall we?

1 - Dance Battles VS Ruri Tunes

Listen. I feel everyone who's struggling with Ruri Tunes. I'm also kind of shit at rhythm games. It's hard to adapt to, and it's just too much to deal with. Sometimes it's sensory overload incarnate.

BUT OH MY GOD, OBEY ME IS SO MUCH MORE PLAYABLE WITHOUT THOSE BORING ASS DANCE BATTLES! (to me)

I've just said this in a post I just made, but to quote myself: When I fail at a Ruri Tunes level, I feel like trying again and get a better result. When I failed at a Dance Battle level, I wanted to close the game and give up.

Ruri Tunes is hard at times, yes. But it challenges you at some level (without being absolutely impossible). It isn't just a matter of cards, it also requires some level of skill. It's an actual mini game. It's something. Dance Battles are nothing. You basically watch the characters move on the screen most of the time. Collecting hearts and touching on the characters on the right time isn't fun in the slightest. There's no challenge, no skill required and no satisfaction in finishing a level. It just feels dull and lifeless to me.

Like I said above, Ruri Tunes feels like an actual mini game. It feels like an extra way to have fun within the game instead of something that had no thought put on it and it's just there to justify the game having gacha.

To quote myself again, I hate the Dance Battles to a degree that Nightbringer NOT having them automatically makes it a better game than its predecessor in my eyes. Ruri Tunes is a game changer to me, and it motives me to play Obey Me SO MUCH MORE. So that's a positive point to the bringer of the night.

(This is a good time as any to remind you that this is just my opinion, don't hate on me for that pls)

(Also, in case you don't know that already, you can dim the levels' background in the game's options so it's less overwhelming)

2 - The Lore (this obviously has spoilers)

Nightbringer has more lore and character depth in 10 lessons than the og Obey Me had in 80 lessons. There, I said it.

Just to list a few:

- Mammon having serious moments and advancing the plot without being the butt of every joke.

- Asmo having actual feelings about what's going on instead of being a narcissist and nothing else.

- Satan feeling out of place among his brothers, being confused about the circumstances of his birth and developing his own personhood (his scenes with the cat in Lesson 10 actually made me tear up).

- Lucifer wondering if rebelling against their Father was the right choice and feeling guilty about his brothers following him (even though they did it because they love him).

- Lucifer PRAISING HIS BROTHERS and APOLOGIZING TO THEM. BRUH.

- Beel's uncontrollable hunger actually being taken seriously.

- Cerberus and Henry 1.0 origin stories.

- Diavolo finally making a responsible choice as the future king of Devildom (I was NOT expecting him to ask MC to leave once he found out they are a human), and the weight that lays on his shoulders is properly told and explained.

- Simeon having regrets about not being able to properly talk to Lucifer right before the Celestial War happened.

- ANGEL RACISM. It's such an obvious plot point, but I wasn't expecting them to talk about it at all. But they did.

- FREAKING ADAM. THAT'S ALREADY A SHOCK AS IT IS.

- MC. Just MC in general.

- The brothers' awakening their demonic powers.

And there's more than that, and all of it happened in the very first 10 lessons. There's less filler and pointless scenes clogging up the story, and they've focused in many different characters instead of a select few. Sure, there are still many lessons and events ahead of us, but in my opinion, the story is off to a great start. It's better than I expected, in all honesty.

3 - 3D Characters (And The Features That Involve Them)

There's no denying it, the 3D models look like ABSOLUTE TRASH. I've seen MMD models looking less crusty than that, for fuck's sake. Not to mention that they're not made for weaker phones for sure.

Ok, they're fugly. But are they put to good use, at least?

... No, not really. 💀

I have pretty much the same opinion about Fab Snap and WW: They're cute and laggy, but they feel very pointless and, in my opinion, it was a waste of time and resources on Solmare's part. WW was good idea on paper, but all the interactions with the characters there are mundane and/or random, and Fab Snap is just shallow fanservice. If I wanted either/both of those things, I would just watch the anime. At least it's better executed.

The only feature featuring (lol) the 3D models that I actually enjoyed are the video calls, but as of now, I've just seen the introductory one and none else. So I don't have much to say about these.

So, yeah, if you want some character tidbits and cute interactions with the characters, just go to Devilgram. It's a better use of your time.

4 - The Layout & The Songs

Ok, so, about the game's layout, I'm conflicted.

On one hand, it looks cleaner, feels more optimized and it's very stylish.

On the other hand, conceptually, the futuristic vibes doesn't make any sense in the slightest (WHY IS NIGHTMARE'S OUIJA BOARD DIGITAL? IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE) . It's a bit generic and less charming than the original layout. Also, I don't really like the title screen. It feels... Tight? Idk how to describe it.

I guess I would say I have no strong feelings in one way or another about it. It's fine.

About the background music: While I don't dislike the new ones, they do feel way more generic and bland. Think about og Obey Me's background music. Nightmare's theme, the winning theme's, the lessons' theme... They all have that demonic charm we know and love, and I really miss that vibe. Except for the opening screen theme, I won't miss that one blaring in my ears.

But let's talk about what's important: THE SONGS' REMIXES! I'll make a quick rundown of them just for the lols:

- Arcadia, Are You Ready and No. 1 FREAKING SLAP! The remixes these catchy songs sound even catchier. Dare I say, No. 1 actually sounds better in the remix, and the original version is already excellent!

- I don't like what they did to My Chance, Passion and Choose Me, sorry. They're all meh to me.

- Read My Heart and Crazy About You sound pretty different from their original versions, but still manage to sound good!

- Meanwhile, Our Destiny sounds pretty different from its original version, but I don't like the way they changed it.

- Pomade, Question Love, Telepathy and Dreamscape are all very solid! I like them.

- I don't like My Wish and Hungry Six Pack in their original versions, and the remixes didn't do any big favors. The latter sounds slightly better than the original, but that doesn't mean much.

- I love Sinful Indulgence like any sensible human being, BUT WHERE IS IT'S MY PARTY? WHERE IS CELESTIAL RAY? WHERE IS DEMON'S WAY? I NEED THEM, SOLMARE!

5 - Akuzon

This is my last point in the analysis, so I'll just make a list like in the lore category:

- I hate that you can't buy Vouchers with Demon Points anymore so, so much.

- I like that Demon Points are easier to get. Only because YOU CAN'T BUY DAMN VOUCHERS WITH DPs ANYMORE, but oh well.

- I actually like the Joker cards. They're a cool idea.

- The "more item drops" and "more grimm gained" items are a GOD SEND and I'll be forever grateful to whoever created that.

- This is a bit off-topic, but why would I want to buy the brothers' regular clothes if they are in their much cooler demon forms all the time?

- I hated Raven in the og OM. I still hate Raven in Nightbringer. This hasn't changed at all.

- Karma is an useless addition to an useless feature. Pretty fitting.

- I'm still not buying Surprise Guest items because the intimacy meter is still a bit pointless, it seems.

6 - TL;DR

Nightbringer has its ups and downs, but, in my opinion, in the big scheme of things, it's a better game than its predecessor. Not by a landslide, but it's an improvement. If it justifies its existence being separated from the og Obey Me, it's in the eye of the beholder.

But in the end, it's just a game, and what matters the most is that if you're having fun with it or not. And I know I am!

I'm gonna close this review here bc it's 2AM and I'm getting sleepy and thus losing the ability of forming coherent thoughts. If there's anyone reading it this far, thank you for reading my late night rambles I guess lol

Obey Me! and Angelology and Demonology

alternatively titled Lets Get Into Lucifer

This is yet another long, long post about the lore of Obey Me! from the perspective of historical and theological angelology, and demonology or the study of angels and demons respectively, because I think it’s neat. I also talk way too much. I’m scared to check the word count on this.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert on anything, and certainly not on religion. I just like comparative theology. Also, spoilers for lesson 43/44.

What is an angel? And what, in turn, is a demon? It depends on who you ask. All religions that have angels have a general consensus that they are spiritual beings, intermediaries of some kind of higher power. Demons, on the other hand, are much more vague beyond general malevolence toward humanity. Any connection between the two is entirely dependent on the culture and religion in question. Some have angels but not demons, and many have vice versa.

There’s generally four kinds of spirits that are considered demons:

Dead people with extremely bad vibes (think mogwai, yuurei, and other revenants)

Neutral-to-malevolent energy, physical form optional (think djinni or yokai)

Cult subjects (including foreign gods and ancestor worship)

Corrupted angels (either fallen or Nephilim)

The word demon comes from the Greek δαίμων, or daimon, but the concept of a demon is much older than the Greeks. The original daimon had none of the malevolent, evil associations that we now think of. Instead, daimon just described a kind of powerful spiritual entity (for example, δαίμων is the term Euripides uses for the new god Dionysus in The Bacchae). What we think of as demons now didn’t exist in Greek culture, and the negative associations came when the Tanakh was translated from Hebrew to Greek, but even then shedim aren’t identical to the contemporary depiction of demons that we see in Obey Me!, which, like everything else in Western society, came about through the domination of Christianity.

Shedim, the precursor to the Christian demon, was more or less a term for false gods, a title for the various Levantine pagan gods (see: origin of Beelzebub, Belphegor, and pretty much every demon that starts with Bel- or Bal-).

Obey Me! pretty much canonizes Type 2 and Type 4 demons, with characters like Diavolo, Barbatos, and Satan as Type 2 and the other brothers as Type 4. Historically, Beelzebub and Belphegor are Type 3 (Beelzebub and Belphegor being Levantine gods), Mammon being Type 2 (a general personification of Wealth, although Milton did write him as a Type 4 in Paradise Lost) and Asmodeus being somewhere in between Type 2 and 3 (being heavily derived from a Zoroastrian daeva of wrath). Lucifer is, historically, the only consistently Type 4 demon.

I don’t think I have to explain what a fallen angel is to any OM! fan. But I will.

Let’s talk about these guys. We’re all familiar with Satan’s weird complex about Lucifer, and I’m sure we’re all equally familiar with how Satan and Lucifer are terms used interchangeably for whatever being is The Big Bad of Hell. However, they’re not synonymous.

Satan derives from the same Proto-Semitic root as shayatan, which... should be pretty obvious, but nonetheless has a pretty analogous role as a tempter of men in the Abrahamic religions. Beyond that “tempter of men” title, though, the actual details of what Satan is is incredibly varied, including whether or not “Satan” is a name or a title. In Christianity, the view of Satan as an extremely powerful and evil corrupter of man, wholly opposed to God, came around the Middle Ages, when witchcraft hysteria spread.

Lucifer, on the other hand, is simultaneously a figure originating in Christianity and much, much older than it. The term of course means “light-bringer”, and is heavily associated with the morning star, aka the planet Venus. To make a very long story short, many Mesopotamian, Levantine, and Mediterranean cultures saw the lowering of Venus toward the horizon at night and thought, “hey, thats a pretty neat image!” and created stories about heavenly beings falling toward the earth. Of course, they didn’t use the ‘term’ Lucifer, that’s Latin, and came from the Vulgate Bible.

The term Lucifer does not exclusively refer to The Evil Fallen Angel™ in Christian texts (some very sacred things like the Exsultet explicitly refer to Jesus as Lucifer), but it sure is the most popular interpretation. In works like Paradise Lost or the Divine Comedy, the general idea is that the angel Lucifer rebelled against God in some way and was cast out of Heaven, then becoming Satan, and thus the two are one and the same.

(inb4 some Quora-type chews me out for accuracy’s sake, the “lucifer” mentioned in Isaiah 14:12 refers not to any angel, but to a Babylonian king. The whole fallen angel thing, much like the beatitudes or Bethlehem or Christmas, is a fusion of pagan influences.)

In other words, Lucifer is always and has always been a fallen angel. Satan, on the other hand, doesn’t have those connections to angelhood, and the two figures have an undeniable connection despite their clear individual differences. Sound familiar?

The next question is then what kind of angel is Lucifer anyway? to which you might be thinking, wait, there are different kinds? Yes, holy shit, there are so many kinds of angels and very little consensus on what they are. In terms of Christian angelology (because again, Lucifer is a uniquely Christian/derivative Christian figure unless you exclude Leland’s Aradia which I don’t because lbr they were Italian anyways), most hierarchies are based on the work of this guy:

This man has the incredibly succinct name of Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite, and sometime in the 5th century he wrote a book called De Coelesti Hierarchia. It orders the *WTNV voice* hierarchy of angels into three levels called spheres, and each sphere has three sub-levels called choirs. Many, but not all, of the choirs are adopted from various Jewish angelic hierarchies. If you thought that it was just angels and then archangels were, like, the middle management version of angels then you are very wrong. I’m sorry that television lied.

You know who also lied? Tumblr dot com and any post that implies that the true form of angels is a big wheel with a bunch of eyes. That is, in fact, a descriptor for only one kind of angel: ophanim, or thrones. The depiction of angels runs the gamut from winged humanoids to multi-winged humanoids with multiple animal heads to burning snakes to vague heavenly mist.

Archangels and angels are the eighth and ninth lowest choirs of angels, respectively. Angels, or malakhim, are the default messengers of God and the choir from which guardian angels come from. Generally, if someone claims to have a message from God delivered to them, it will be an angel doing it. If it’s really important, it’ll be an archangel. Everyone else literally has more important things to do. No one’s getting visions from dominions.

Lucifer’s (the theological one) actual designation is kind of a mystery. Depending on the text, Lucifer has been described as a seraph (the highest), a cherub (the second highest), or an archangel (the eighth). According to Thomas Aquinas:

Lucifer, chief of the sinning angels, was probably the highest of all the angels. But there are some who think that Lucifer was highest only among the rebel angels.

Not very helpful, but hey. The question remains: what kind of angel is Lucifer, and this time I mean our Lucifer.

We know that Michael, just like his namesake, is an archangel. We also know that (SPOILERS) Simeon, unlike his namesake, is an archangel as well (Simeon is a saint, not an angel.) Lucifer likely was at their level, if not higher.

However, Lucifer was also a six-winged angel, a depiction generally reserved for seraphim (and cherubim, but far less frequently).

Moreover, in terms of role, an angellic Lucifer fits well with that of the powers, the sixth choir. Powers are in charge of moving the heavenly bodies, and are depicted as powerful warriors dressed in beautiful armor. It's fitting for a being so closely tied to the morning star to be a power, after all.

So, with all that considered, what is Lucifer?

Well, he’s a seraph (or saraph, technically). Why? Because Simeon is somehow a seraph and an archangel (I have already written too much to unpack that bullshit), and Mammon was a throne (remember those wheels with eyes?) and Beel was a cherub and therefore Lucifer had to be higher than both of them (interestingly big brother Mammon is in a lower choir than little brother Beel). This makes Michael kind of, well... weird, given the archangels’ low rank.

Some like to differentiate between archangel the eighth choir and Archangel, with a capital A, as a term for any high-ranking angel. While this is likely what Solmare is doing, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that this has zero basis in any religious text whatsoever and is solely done for the convenience of not remembering anything besides angel and archangel. Which is like, fine, but I’m a pedantic jerk who I found claims to the contrary while researching and I felt the need to correct that.

This follows 5.3 lore. So if you are not caught up in it, avoid this story please.

Spoilers.

Aymeric x Kiya.

Characters - Kivera, Aymeric, Kiya, Mentions of the polyship with Shuri. @maiden-born-in-snow

Kiya had to have answers, about what her life was. When she explained what she had learned to Aymeric, he only embraced her. His feelings did not change at all, learning her life before.

The question was, what was her life before she was brought to The Source. She had approached Divinity, with questions the Libra spirit could not answer.

“I’m sorry, those are questions for Kivera. I can’t talk about them, without her around, or in general because it might break taboo.” Divinity answered enough to explain. Kiya had more questions, but the Libra spirit smiles.

“She’ll be glad to answer you though. I think you earned to know.” Divinity then goes into the house she shares with the rest. To talk to the reaper. She was found cocooned in her wings. Divinity pets her black wing then right to have her rouse up.

“Hm?”

“Kiya, wants to know. Ever since she has learned where she came from. She feels lost.” Kivera sits up at this and knew eventually she would have to explain and maybe give her a glimpse of her former life. Kivera dresses in a flash of her magic and wanders out to greet the miqo. Kivera softens her eyes seeing her.

“I’ll answer everything tonight. I do have a requirement though, to pray to your deity at both statues. I’ll meet you at Thal’s around midnight.” Kivera had to give a condition, before she opened up doors.

Kiya nods and sets about the trip for the spots in Thanalan. Kivera watches her teleport, and folds her arms under her chest while Divinity hugs her from behind.

“You’re getting better at not denying others.” Kivera shrugs Divinity off only to be snared by her and lifted up to be carried at her waist with a few flails from her.

“I swear you chose that form so you can do this!”

“Maybe, I also like how some outfits look. But lifting you and Shuri has become a favorite. I see why Ardbert, and Estinien enjoy it the same. How do you think she’ll take the information?” Divinity sits with Kivera starting to pet her head, fingers weaving into dark hair.

“She’ll take it like anyone who has had their memories taken. She’ll be confused. However, it benefitted this realm greatly. Having memories of your life before can end up causing conflict. What if she had remembered what her calling was. Even with her defecting their cause. It only took a stray thought and this world would have died.” Divinity nods her head as she listens. They’ve witnessed realms that died, together. Worlds, and dimensions. Kivera being their reaper, she’s seen the grief on her face when faced with dying worlds.

“You did a good thing.” Divinity sits with her overlooking The Mist’s shores.

“You think so?”

“Your bits of interferences have helped. I know you guided her hand against that necromancer. I’ve seen you angry before, but to channel that through her? Preventing liches and catastrophes from them. I know you do good. Even if the world scorns you for what you do.” Kivera thinks Divinity’s words over, and sees a glimpse of the woman who she sat with on the burning pyre return her gentleness. The first and only time they had touched in the physical realm was Divinity’s own death.

“I think someone who takes away someone’s suffering as they burned to death isn’t someone to be hated.” Divinity adds on. Kivera shifts her form a bit to the one she keeps hidden under the disguises.

“You do have a way with words, you’ve been hanging around Ardbert a little much.” Kivera comments, and is met with another smile.

“He’s full of insights. Still doesn’t know in depth of what we are and what we do. We’ve let him glimpse our pasts, but not our reasons.” Divinity hears Kivera sigh and feels her nod against her shoulder.

“Eventually. For now, I need to right one who doesn’t know herself.” Kivera disentangles herself from Divinity and goes about to prepare her end of giving some memories back.

“Do you want me to come with you?” Divinity offers.

“Nah, This is best done by myself. Keep Shuri comfortable.” Kivera goes back into the house to gather things she needs.

Kiya had returned to Ishgard to tell Aymeric she will be home late. She is met with a soft smile and him wishing her to stay safe. Kiya got lost in his eyes when he coaxed her to join him for a little enjoyment in his office.

When she returned to her home, she found a box left on the bed from Kivera.

“Wear this at the statue of Thal, I’ll know when you have completed the prayers.” Kiya sets off and goes to Nald’s Respite statue first. She kneels before the statue in prayer and respect.

One of the few things she and Aymeric don’t cross is their beliefs. He remains devoted to Halone, while she is faithful to hers in Nald’Thal. She had long since remained faithful to him before she met Aymeric. Such being the way Black Mage are. Instilled from Thaumaturges guild’s teaching.

Kiya stops before she approaches the final statue, and dons the unique attire. She looks herself over in the reflection of water. Her hair worn down in the way Kivera instructed her to wear it. Kivera nods once she sees her exactly how she wants the mage to look.

“Good, now the memories. I apologize for taking those. They were payment for revival. There is a unique balance to keep in the underworld. While you can be spared from a fate, something does need to be taken to cushion it. It’s a bit complicated.” Kivera begins with telling her about the exchange.

“I’ve come to terms with that part.. it’s trying to remember a part of you..” Kiya begins and Kivera nods.

“I understand that. I’ll give you the chance to see and know that former self. I do however want to pose a question. Aren’t you happy with the way things are now?” Kivera asks, and sees Kiya’s eyes light up.

“I am happy with how things are, yet I want to know.” Kivera smiles and steps back to give her, at least her name. Her voice coming out as a double echo.

“Solaris. Ricorda.” It is a simple phrase, and one that has her remembering. Everything up to the fall of the star of the 14th. How she chose to leave, how she witnessed the last days, she had fallen the creature Therion. From there plucked from the aether by Hydaelyn and given a new life. Her form itself she couldn’t recall except like every other Amourtine. She notices her own appearance resembles the reaper before her, slightly altered. Then every memory from there on was what she knew.

“My form, that was your doing?” Kivera nods.

“Just a smidge of my likeness. But everything else is all your own. Memories, friends, loved ones, children, those you’ve protected, those you’ve lost. The memories you have now, those you fought for. If you had remembered that former life, would you have followed the same path as now?” Kivera questions, and moves to press her forehead to Kiya’s. A simple gesture.

“We’ll never know that answer, for it didn’t happen.” Kiya smiles though in her answer. She knows. Kivera knows. They can’t rewind the time. Not with what they’ve done already.

“Do you have any regrets?” Kivera asks.

“No, none. Just glad to know my name. Solaris. If I have any more children, it might fit for a son maybe.” Kivera places a finger over her own lips as hers are sealed.

“I can’t tell you anything more. You should get back to your husband now.” Kiya eyes her wearily, then shakes her head. Kivera takes her home, and Kiya takes the offered hand.

“Is it true you have such a dislike for people that raise the dead?” Kiya asks, and Kivera glances to her.

“You felt my rage right? At that necromancer? That is your answer. There is no good from people who raise the dead for their own means. They start innocent, but quickly lose themselves to madness. Like your friend Edda, whose scythe you wear so proudly on your back. Or those that have stained Tam-tara deep with their ill magic. You’ve seen their madness. What it does. Such in Dusk Vigil with the frozen in time soldiers who were kept alive through ill magic too.” Kiya nods.

“Underworld beings, such as myself are death bringers. We obey that. Anything that abhors that nature shouldn’t be celebrated. The acolytes, the white mages, those that have the blessing to revive someone who freshly fell before the soul leaves. They’re different, but even they can’t revive what is truly lost to the aether. I’m sure if you take the white robes you would understand more in depth to that difference. But those who use bodies are defilers and need to be ended.” Kiya nods at the end of her words. Kivera stays with Kiya till she is on the steps to her home with Aymeric.

Aymeric stands in the doorway, he waited for his love to be returned to him. He regards the ethereal being with a look of reverence. Kivera flits out like smoke as if she was never there. Kiya turns to Aymeric and is guided under his arm inside, to get much rest and spend the night better with him. It has been a few months after Alyse came into the world, and Edmont took their daughter to give the two a night to themselves.

So Kiya could get answers about herself.

Kivera returns to her lovers. She makes a face to herself as the spots next to Divinity and Shuri was taken up by Ardbert. Leaving the space between Shuri and Estinien open. She opts for that spot, not without first planting ice cold hands on Estinien’s back. The dragoon jolts from the cold, but only eyes Kivera and pulls her between him and Shuri. Letting her wrap her arms around her and pulling her closer.

“ Non desidero mai prendere nessuna delle vostre anime.” She murmurs a protection spell.

Endless Stars in the Lungs of the Trees: Excerpt from Chapter One of Vol. II

Spoilers alert if you’re still on book one!!

“Anything,” he said with a crooked smile. “Demand the world, and I will lay it at your feet.”

“I don’t want the world,” I said, continuing to walk towards him.

“Hmm… then demand the stars, night-bringer, and I will bring them to the ground.”

“I don’t want the stars,” I said, as he backed up further. He hit the trunk of a tree and I stepped up to him.

“Then demand the moons, the planets, the skies above. I will go to war with them all for you.” his voice was light but I knew it was as deadly serious as a vow.

“I don’t want the moons, the planets, the skies… and I don’t want war,” I said, ending with my voice going softer. He looked down at me, bowing his head.

“Anything you want, night-bringer,” he said quietly. “What do you want from me?”

“Kiss me,” I breathed, and he obeyed. Our lips collided, and in a moment I could barely breathe. He reached to the back of my neck and cradled my head, deepening the kiss. Without warning, he spun me around and pressed me into the trunk of the tree, trapping me. I thought for sure this would be a lesson in always being prepared, but he surprised me by kissing my neck. Shivers bloomed in my spine and shot out through my fingertips. Sparks appeared like a halo around his head as he pulled away and laced our fingers together.

“Anything you want,” he repeated, his voice husky. And now that I trusted him, I knew it to be true. He would kill for me. He would die for me.

It was my job to make sure it never came to that.

I guess next week we will know what the hell Solomon did to piss off barbs

But I kinda enjoyed what they did with asmo? I do wish they explored more on how the brothers indulge in their sins and them basking in it being self destructive/destructive but I understand they can’t really shove the 7 of them doing that into all of it plus MC making pacts/other shit.

I wanna talk about this lesson, first off...

SHIT WORKED ON LUCIFER...TWICE

I like how hes not "as strong" as he is in og as curses and his brothers powers don't really work on him but quickly gains immunity if it does only for it not not work again if it's stronger

Bro also turned everyone into a frog then cockblocked them from getting a kiss from MC after setting it up

And...

Mean Asmo yesssss (pretty tame but a wins a win)

I also love how asmo did a complete 180 after he saw that MC was getting more attention than him that was great

Also Solomon defending MC and taking it more seriously after he called MC a nuisance was funny

AND QUEEN ASMO SUPREMACY FUCK YEAH (honestly the highlight of the lesson)

And some funny things,

Sol really wants Lucifer to find a way to kill him I swear

And I just wanted add this screen shot cuz...👀 👀

I really hope next lesson will be good because I want to see solomon and barbatos interact and asmos trauma shit. I enjoy all the characters and asmo has been getting the short end of the stick lately so I hope they continue to do him justice because this was more they did with him than they since og season 1 and I think season 2? (I can't really remember) I just want them to be more than I love "X" thing over and over
