The Fall as an Act of Mercy

When we first hear about what happened in the Great Celestial War, why the brothers fell, it's easy to go, "WTF". It's easy to blood-boilingly angry over the brothers' fate, how much they didn't deserve what they got. It's easy to consider their damnation a heartless, cruel decision, a punishment they never deserved.

But looking at it closer, it gets a lot more complicated. I don't think it was ever about what they "deserved" at all.

I want you to ask yourself. If Father was willing to punish Lilith as harshly as he wanted to just for falling in love with/saving a human, what do you think his punishment for a full-on, violent rebellion would have been?

It's always felt strange to me, that Lilith's punishment was so much harsher than her brothers'. Even if falling in love with a human and altering their lifespan was a grievous enough sin to warrant death or endless darkness, was what the brothers did any less? Compared to Lilith's projected punishment, both in the OG and in Nightbringer, the brothers' fate was significantly softer. Yes, it was harsh, and yes it was beyond traumatizing. But they at least had a chance. They had the room to adapt, and grow, and heal, and overcome. And to a degree, they already have. All things considered, it was a pretty tame punishment compared to what Father was fully ready to dish out on their sister.

...which is why I think Father had nothing to do with it at all.

In Season 3, Luke specifically implies that it was Michael who cast the brothers down.

This could have been ignorance on Luke's part- he wasn't alive back then so he could be misconstruing details from what he's heard- but I don't think so. Not only do more traditional biblical media often portray Michael as the one to cast Lucifer down as well, but even in Obey Me itself, the idea of Father being responsible for it (either doing it himself or ordering Michael to) just doesn't add up.

It's not just that the punishment seems unlike him. That's a large part of it, but there's also another hint from Nightbringer that feels like a dead giveaway.

...I'm sorry, but that just makes absolutely no sense. Even by the Celestial Realm's clearly wacked-out mindset, it makes no sense. Why would the Celestial Realm be angry at the Devildom for taking in the people they themselves sent there?

...unless it wasn't the Celestial Realm's decision at all.

Michael wasn't supposed to do what he did.

So why did he do it?

Remember what I said earlier, about how it seemed out-of-character for Father to give the brothers such a weak punishment. I think it's far more likely that Father wanted them either dead or sentenced to the same fate as Lilith.

And I think Michael couldn't do it.

Imagine you're Michael in this situation. You're fighting this war, against your own brother, who you love deeply. In the heat of the moment, you're about to finally stab him and... then you realize.

Why are you doing this?

You can't do it. You can't kill him.

But you can't just back away. Lucifer is already consumed by the heat of the moment; if you let your guard down for even a second, he's not going to realize you're no longer fighting, he's just going to see a chance to go in for the kill. And even if he doesn't, even if he miraculously calms down in the face of everything, what fate awaits him? If you don't do this, what will Father do to him? It won't be a quick and easy death; that's for sure.

You look around. The other six are also fighting against other angels. You see your other brothers and sisters tearing each other apart, just as you and Lucifer were. You realize you can't bear to kill your own brother, and you can't bear to let anyone else die either.

You need to stop it somehow. And there's only one way to make that happen.

You have to get the seven of them as far away from the Celestial Realm as possible.

It's the only way. That's the only way to end the bloodshed. That's the only way to end the war without execution.

Where do you send them?

The one place they have a friend, of course.

You knew about Lucifer and that demon prince. You knew. You know your brother; he isn't as slick as he thinks he is. You weren’t an idiot; you knew there was no way Father was sending Lucifer down for “diplomatic meetings” that often. You played dumb, you turned the other cheek, but you always knew. And now, you just had to hope that whatever unholy bond they had ran deep enough for Lord Diavolo to help him in the wake of what you were about to do next.

You back away, and you cast your magic. You watch them plummet, eyes glazed with shock and emptiness. Raphael stares at you in disbelief.

"Michael, what did you do?!"

"I don't know."

And that is that.

In short, I don't think the brothers' damnation was a punishment. I believe it was the desperate act of someone who didn't want anyone to die. I believe it was the lesser of many evils, in a situation where there was no right answer. I believe it was an act of mercy.

Unravelling Solomon

(many spoilers for chap 11)

Some personal theories and trying to look at the story from Solomon's lens.

Let's state some canon things we have noticed in the story of both Obey me and Nightbringer.

MC is Solomon's one true soulmate/twin flame

Solomon took an instant liking to MC in the very beginning, calling it mere curiousity.

- I think he sensed a Kindred soul. Just like Thirteen says we both seem like 'cheerful idiots' at the very first glance. Wouldn't Solomon would be even quicker to detect a soul similar to his own?

Thirteen claims our soul sparkles the same way Solomon's used to, it still does the same but just a little different.

- Solomon has gone through some unspeakable trauma damaging his soul to that level. And he's hyper protective that MC doesn't go through the same.

Solomon's card: Threads of Fate. MC's first red string was connected to Solomon.

- Okay, this might be a big stretch but hear me out. We all know Solomon's magic is strong and mostly accurate even in its most experimental stage.

So when his powder of revealing soulmates ended up showing all of MC's bonds - it inadvertently showed the strongest first. The strongest bond between two most similar souls.

Solomon's Obsession with Lucifer's Pact

Do you know who has consistently been a direct threat of MC's survival?

From the first dance, as he threatened MC while almost snapping their wrist in half to his most recent attempt on MC's life in the past - it has been Lucifer.

The Lucifer who would rather use his powers and hurt his own brother and an innocent angel just to exact his justice on a meddlesome human (cue the scene where MC protects Beel and Luke).

The Lucifer who doesn't hesitate to lose his head and attempt to destroy MC even though he noted how MC has been slowly and surely healing his brothers.

The same Lucifer who even now, tries to eliminate you as a threat even as his own brothers vouch for your integrity and you try to prove your good intentions.

Solomon watches helplessly as you constantly throw yourself at the mercy of this fallen angel.

In season 2, Solomon legit states that he would have stabbed Lucifer to save the three realms himself if it didn't upset you. Imagine how he must feel knowing you almost killed yourself to save this very demon - only to be hurt by this demon again.

Wherever Lucifer goes, his brothers tend to follow. He's the pillar holding the brothers together. Solomon knows the only way to keep Lucifer and some of his equally volatile brothers , he simply needs a pact with him.

What better way to ensure Humanity's safety, especially your safety, than to control the most probable cause of chaos?

But because he couldn't do that, so instead he started MC to be stronger in Magic, fortifying the defense on MC. Making sure MC can make the pacts to protect themself and humanity along with Solomon.

But still he knows, you're too kind for your own good and you don't have a heart cruel enough to give up on the demon brothers no matter what they do to you, so he still hopes to make the pacts himself so he can do what's necessary when things get worse.

Solomon's Wrath and Request

Can you imagine how Solomon might have felt in the timeline where his MC was killed? The growing rage and guilt that it all happened so far away where he couldn't be there to save you? Barbatos had to merge the timelines for a reason.

Now imagine him seeing it all happen again, the fear in your eyes, your body frozen never even attempting to save yourself because you don't want to hurt the demons. But this time he's here - and he won't let it happen.

Do you know how much rage must bubble under his skin to reach up to this throat and peek through his never faltering smile?

The reason he begs and pleads you to choose humanity over the demons, it's only to make sure you're not caught in the wrong side of the war.

Of course he manipulates demons into pacts and acts shady around them, because look what happened to MC when all they did was be righteous, helping the brothers them the right way.

Okay so I briefly mentioned having a theory about this to @pandapantslovesyou in the notes on one of my posts and then completely forgot about it ✌️

The Witch Theory 🧙

Okay so from Obey Me! we know:

• Witches are somehow different from sorcerers.

• Sorcerers are registered at the Sorcerer's Society and need a licence to practice magic in The Human World

• There's always a distinction made when they (specially Mammon) talks about witches vs MC & Solomon (who are sorcerers)

• It's not a gender thing because MC (they/them pronouns in the game - undetermined gender depending on the players) is a sorcerer

• Sorcerers and Witches can both potentially make pacts with demons

• The demons and angels were at war for a long time. This affected their relationship with The Human World as well. By the end of the war the three worlds were at peace but (for the most part) kept closed off from each other:

a.) Despite The Celestial Realm, The Human World & The Devildom being the three big worlds and so Angels, Humans and Demons being the three main species, we've seen there are other species, capable of higher cognition, that have a smaller presence and so weren't as directly inlvolved in the war & have more freedom moving between the realms. Eg: Reapers who have contacts with humans & demons (& presumably angels as well), ghosts who live and work freely in the Devildom, fairies who lived in both the human world and Devildom but later moved out of the human world, banshees, centaurs, dragons, yetis/the snowmen

• Demons can further be broken down into sub-species (or if you want to be technical/biological about it; Angels, Humans Great Apes, Demons are different biological families. Demons can be broken down into different genera so the "lesser demons" mentioned in-game would be one genus. These can further be broken down into different specific species;) Such as the Sins, Incubi, Succubi, the little Ds and those little ant sized demons (these can't only be considered as different races/ethnicities the way humans have because there are very significant biological changes between them <ant-sized vs Sins> rather than being differentiated due to culture, environment/location & small changes in appearance, though it's quite possible the Devildom has different races/ethnicities as well <The Night Lantern People>. Most possibly the different species of the people of the Devildom acts as another factor in defining their different cultures and so defining their ethnicities)

b.) Until Diavolo's exchange program, which opened those boundaries back up. S1's exchange program can be considered something of a pilot study and, as with Simeon & Luke being the first angels in the Devildom, Solomon & MC are the first humans.

• Though the general citizens become more accepting of the presence of humans (and angels) in the Devildom, as the game & events progress, the exchange program is never expanded at a larger scale (with only two new students - neither a human). And even in S4 there are still those that are against the whole exchange program and everything it stands for.

• HOWEVER, witches are present in The Devildom. They're just casually there, despite originally being from The Human World, supposedly being human and humans outside of Solomon & MC not being allowed in The Devildom. Despite the brothers actually questioning how human Solomon can be considered given how old he is and MC displaying many non-human characteristics starting from S1 itself, neither are allowed to stay long term in the Devildom without supervision/without an affiliation to Diavolo/RAD because at the end of the day they're still more human than anything else. Witches however are just living in the Devildom with no seeming connection to RAD or the exchange program.

• Furthermore; Maddi arrives in The Devildom from The Human World. Given who she is (one of the oldest and most powerful witches) she should be considered one of the leading figures of the magic users in The Human World. Aka one of the most important figures, in this context, from one of the Big Three Worlds that have been maintaining a tenuous peace for thousands of years. Though The Human World isn't one of the main warring factions this should still be given at least a somewhat similar significance to Michael visiting The Devildom. At the very least Diavolo should be there to greet her given how peace & balance is his goal and rightfully she should be a main part of achieving that. BUT, though they treat her with respect and go out of their way to meet her wishes it's not given this significance. Diavolo deliberately doesn't come out to meet her and has apparently already met her during previous visits.

And those are all the canon facts.

The main theory then?

Witches aren't humans.

Or rather they're a subspecies of humans (or maybe more accurately they're, like humans, a species originating from the genus homo that never went extinct like the neanderthals & rest).

Appearance-wise they're more or less physically indistinguishable from humans. The main thing that seperates them is their magic.

They're much lesser in number than humans but unlike humans, where only a select few have magic, all witches have magic.

Their magic could be more natural? Whenever I think of witches I think of little cabins in the woods and large cauldrons and that always makes me think of nature. But more seriously, the sorcerers have their Society and need a licence to practice magic - this gives the impression of strict rules and a very rigid system. The game never makes a connection between the Sorcerer's Society and how witches practice magic. So what if this is because their magic is more natural and doesn't fit into the rigidity of the Sorcerer's Society.

They're different enough a species than humans (& much lesser in number) that they fall into that small group of species that weren't as affected by the post-war regulations. Meaning like the fairies they were able to travel easily to The Devildom despite living in The Human World

Anyway that's my theory 😮‍💨

have you guys ever thought about how satan's personality is actually the combo of his 6 other brothers and somehow he's still unique in his own way and that somehow creates his charisma. just as i start making satan's moodboard and i start to realize man i love him so much it's hard to breathe.

i mean, he's like the most hard-working demon in the family, lucifer works because he has his responsibility and because he forces himself the perfect figure for the whole devildom and also because of diavolo the moment he realize no one watching him he immediately drop the whole responsible act; but satan works and studies and reads just because he loves doing things and learning. he never wastes a single opportunity to learn new thing. he loves art and beautiful things, just like asmo but at the same time, he doesn't care about his look, just like beel, and they both make asmo so mad because they seems like they can't realize how attractive they are. he loves to play pranks on lucifer with belphie but somehow he is also willing to take care for his brothers when they're wasted and constantly checked on lucifer when he lost his memory. he loves cooking for his family and even when his brothers make riddiculous request he still tries to satisfy them. he's maybe the most boring guy you've ever met, he's a nerd, he starts to talk like levi when he visits destinations from his favourite shows, he looks serious in his stundent id, and he's so intellectual and normal and you may or may not have already seen someone like him in your life. he's so normal, he has nothing stand out but his love for cat. his laptop is covered in cat stickers and he has a cat wallpaper on his devices. he's so normal. he acts normal unless when he's angry. he's decent. he's also popular. but at the same time, don't you guys find him adventurous? he loves trying new things, he meets people here and there and makes friend here and there. you will see him at some super fancy restaurant and you also see him on the bleachers of some sports game. he even manages to take his whole family to a film festival because of his connections. he learns new things everyday and he tries to experience as much as he can. he loves nature, he loves camping, he loves animal to the point he flooded the whole house with cats. he knows all the things about human world and stuffs but he's not allow to go there. i mean, satan character is just the combination of many factors and he's so normal but so adventurous and caring and i can picture him having a super peacful life until you figure out he used to go to war and maybe fighted with the dragons and owns a rich comany stuff like that.

he's just doing whatever he likes without caring about people's opinion and make him...like gosh...i love him i love him i love him i love him i love him.

p.s: one of my theory is that satan wasn't born from wrath (yes i know the devs confirmed that but wasn't lucifer so angry to the point he started a war and stripped out his wings because he loves his brothers and sisters so much he didn't want to see them hurt?) but actually he was born from the love lucifer has for his family so that's why you can see satan shares similarities with all of his brothers.

🧐 What Sins Will The New Side Characters Fall Under? 🧐

So I’ve had these theories floating around in my head for a while and I figure I’ll put it out there before they all become dateable. Here are my thoughts on what primary sin each new character falls under.

Thirteen: I think she will fall under Gluttony. takes MC to the cafe a lot, she mentions she likes being alone on her birthday to have an entire cake to herself, and was delighted when Barbatos made two cakes for her instead of one on a visit to the castle.

Mephistopheles: I want to say Pride because of his affiliation with Diavolo and being a braggy brag about being a noble HOWEVER he is also a strong contender for Envy. He’s clearly jealous of Lucifer’s closeness to Diavolo and also feels threatened by MC’s relationship with him.

Raphael: I was leaning towards Wrath for him, considering he is quick to unleash his spears at those that anger him but we already have an angel associated with Wrath so he may end up being something else. I could see Raphael being associated with Pride only for the fact that it seems he is very responsible and takes pride in his role in the Celestial Realm and being an angel.

Michael: Michael is without a doubt Sloth. He nods off during poetry readings, is known to leave Raphael with his own duties, shares interests with Belphegor, and Raphael has hinted at his laziness. Also, he doesn’t seem to follow through with threats.

Secrets of Devildom: Envy Demons (Part 1)

Those who have read the theory of the 7 Og and the cycle of life (thank you @sparkbeast20 for the cooperation) know that there are many gaps in the annon, and many of the events that occurred in the annon are not explained, and/or left implicit without any context.

For those following these moments of theory, you may notice that I have been talking a lot about the demonic classes, their "history," and culture before, during, and after the fall of the brothers, focusing most of these moments on philosophical/mythological debates, pointing out plot points that few would see and understand.

Well, we have already talked about 5 of the seven sin classes, namely Greed, Lust, Sloth, Gluttony, and Wrath.

Today we will talk about the most common emotion, Common in all human relationships present at all times even if we do not realize its existence......

….(insert supernatural intro)…

...We will talk about Envy.

But before starting this theory moment, I ask you, dear reader, to keep an open mind for this moment, and if you want to point out any flaws, or if I am forgetting something, remember that this is just a theoretical post. I won't be upset if you want to add something to this conversation, I just ask that you reblog and tag me so that we can exchange theories on the subject.

Like all theories about demonic classes, I will begin with the famous question: what do we know about envy?

For Aristotle, envy is like a wound that arises when we see another person's good fortune, a feeling stimulated by "those who have what we desire." The English philosopher Bertrand Russell described it as a powerful cause of unhappiness, indicating that the unhappy person is not only affected by envy but also bothers or at least desires the life of others. Russell, however, saw envy as a driving force behind economies, as well as an element that helps maintain democracy.

In Psychology, envy is defined as a displacement of energy, where the individual's focus shifts to the satisfaction and pleasure of others, to the detriment of their potential. It is a psychological pain that arises when we compare ourselves to others and feel that our values, self-esteem, and respect are diminished. Envy is the painful perception of what we lack, aroused when someone possesses characteristics superior to ours.

Sigmund Freud, the renowned Austrian psychoanalyst, saw envy as a result of unconscious hatred, rooted in childhood and intimately linked to anger and depression.

In the spiritual context, envy is related to the emptiness of the soul, indicating a serious problem in how the individual deals with the world. It is a sign of an inability to grow, resulting in a desire to hold others back. Envy originates in covetousness and, when uncontrolled, can lead to destructive attitudes, such as attacking others' achievements instead of seeking one's development.

With that in mind, we can conclude that Leviathan, once a celestial general, saw his life turned upside down after experiencing incredibly traumatic events: war, revolt, loss of his sister, the fall followed by the event of Species Change, and exile from the place he considered his home. 

[A/n: Man, doesn't that open another can of worms? Just thinking about it makes you understand how screwed the brothers are.]

We can then analyze that these events triggered an identity crisis, leaving Leviathan feeling lost and purposeless. He saw himself as a useless opportunist in a world where he no longer had a defined role. His proximity to Lucifer and Lilith during the Great Celestial War reflects his loyalty and sense of justice and his family. However, upon becoming a demon, Leviathan found himself trapped in a cycle of jealousy and self-pity. Feeling inferior and unjustly treated, he withdrew from the outside world, opting for a life of seclusion and escapism through his passions: anime, manga, and video games.

Leviathan's behavior is a manifestation of the trauma he carries with him. His jealousy and self-deprecation are symptoms of his internal struggle to find his place in the world. He often lashes out in anger when he feels threatened or unjustly treated, and his ability to summon Lotan reflects his need to protect himself from his fears and insecurities.

However, it is in his interactions with other characters that we see a nuance in his personality. His relationship with MC is a turning point in his journey, as he finds in MC a true friend and confidant. Through MC, Leviathan learns to face his fears and accept himself, regardless of his flaws and imperfections.

His relationship with Lucifer, Mammon, and other demon brothers is marked by conflicts and rivalries, reflecting his internal struggle to find his place in the hierarchy of Devildom. However, it is in moments of vulnerability that we see a more human facet of Leviathan, where he seeks connection and acceptance.

Considering these aspects, when we compare the characteristics of Leviathan and his relationship with the other avatars, we can assume that the Third Circle of Hell, the Circle of Envy, is a competitive environment, full of envious people who constantly seek high status and boast about their superiority.

In this competitive environment, there is immense development in various sectors, with a strong focus on technology and entertainment.

We can infer that, compared to other circles of hell, the Third Circle is more dependent on the others, mainly on the First (Circle of Pride) and the Second (Circle of Greed), which significantly support it.

Based on that card with a futuristic background, we can imagine the Third Circle would be a mix of the equivalent of Japan, Tokyo, and Atlantis in the human world. I believe it's more like a blend of the Tron universe and Naboo from Star Wars, or even Kamino, with a futuristic and technological setting, perhaps even located at the bottom of the ocean.

Thus, considering that in the Circle of Wrath, the inhabitants are scholars with explosive temperaments, we can conjecture that the inhabitants of Leviathan's Circle would be nerds, geeks, and otakus with inferiority complexes and tendencies to let their imagination run wild, unchecked.

We can also think that, due to its dependence on neighboring Circles, many of the technologies and developments of the Third Circle are controlled or contained to prevent them from falling into the hands of the chaotic public of the other realms. I'm sure more than half of the paperwork Luci does is aimed at containing and controlling the technological flow developed in the Third Circle.

MC's soul is like Solomon's soul when he was younger

13 and Sol met each other when they were young! 💕💕

But more important, Solomon's soul is rare. As rare and beautiful (even after being tarnished or cut a piece but the deal he made with Barbatos) that 13 still want it and have patience for collecting it.

She made a comparison between Sol and MC's souls... MC had been already subject multiple times of comments about their brilliant soul, as powerful that is easy to confound them as demons. MC who is descendant of an angel. MC who is probably a nephilim.

If MC's soul can be explained by their ancestors, what can explain Solomon's? Is he also a Nephilim? Is that why the Celestial Realm did negotiations with him? This clearly explains why Solomon (and MC) are the 2 most powerful sorcerers in all the worlds.

Oh hey, it's CC, your local fluffy fanfic writer who seems to think they can write theory posts. I really should just stick to what I'm good at, but here we are.

I'm back on my Solomon and Barbatos theories, brought to you by the insanity that was hard Lesson 20. I'm also just thinking a lot about that whole situation, so.

Here is my first post about hard Lesson 20.

I went back and read the lessons with Raphael in them because now that I know it's actually Michael pretending to be Raphael, it changed the meaning of everything Raphael was originally saying.

Now obviously Michael is still pretending to be Raphael at this point, so it's hard to say how much of it is Michael saying what he thinks Raphael would say and how much of it is Michael just saying what he wants to say.

There were a few general things I wanted to talk about, specifically that I think Michael is a coward. When he was in the Devildom as Raphael, he kept saying stuff like "Michael wants to send you this message" and "I know about this from Michael" like why didn't he just come on down as himself and own it?

Raphael actually calls him out on this.

I'm seriously starting to love Raphael. He's just like, you're an idiot and I don't have time for your nonsense lol.

But anyway, there were a few things that Michael said as Raphael that I found interesting. Most of the stuff he said to the brothers was very official stuff like "The Celestial Realm has pardoned you" and "do you doubt our Father?"

But when he talks to Simeon and Luke, he's completely different. He showers them in gifts (which is especially funny because he's still pretending to be Raphael, so it's like here is Michael acting like he's Raphael giving gifts to Simeon and Luke that he says are from Michael...) and he tells Luke he might consider being a principality and watching over humans.

Though when Simeon questions whether or not this what He really wants (assuming we're talking about Father/God here), "Raphael" is like are you doubting?? It's like he cares about all these people, but the second they do something he doesn't like, he gets weird about it. He can't just be like okay, I see that you needed to make this decision for yourself and I'm happy for you. No, he's like you are wrong and I'm going to try to convince you of that. So I'm going to do some crazy stuff and stress everybody out.

All of this is to say that I'm not sure how I feel about Michael, but so far I'm not impressed.

OKAY but now on to my Solomon and Barbatos stuff.

Basically, I was speculating that we're dealing with two different Solomons, one of which is the past version and one of which is the future version that came back to help us.

However, I'm not sure that's exactly what's going on.

You can read this post about Lesson 17 for a little context on this, but I also talk about Solomon switching outfits a lot. Because he does and he seems to be the only one who does.

So now, I thought this particular exchange was interesting:

Okay, we all remember this line from Diavolo, but I'm interested in Barbatos's "..." that comes after. Why would they include that? And right after Diavolo calls Raphael "Seraph Raphael?"

I think it's because Barbatos knows this isn't really Raphael. Why would they put that in there at all if it didn't have some significance? And I can't imagine what else it could mean, now that we know that wasn't Raphael at all. Does Barbatos know that it's Michael? I'm not sure. Maybe. But it could be that he just knows it ISN'T Raphael.

I also noticed that any time Raphael and Solomon are in the same place, Solomon is wearing his casual sorcerer outfit, the one I think belongs to our original present timeline Solomon.

But after Raphael leaves the first time, Solomon and Barbatos have tea at the Demon Lord's Castle and he's wearing the trench coat.

It's a fascinating conversation. Because if Barbatos can tell when someone is not who they seem, and this Solomon is not our Solomon, then Barbatos is fully aware that this is not Solomon.

However, they keep up the pretense that this is the same Solomon. They even talk about his hangover and stuff.

BUT.

Then they talk about why Barbatos is angry at Solomon and Solomon is very much just like ??? about it.

SO here are my theories.

I think we are dealing with two Solomons, one who wears the casual sorcerer outfit and one who wears the human world trench coat outfit.

The trench coat one is not our original Solomon. He might be a version of Solomon - such as past!Solomon - but now I also think he might be a completely different character disguised as Solomon.

Barbatos knows that MC is from the future, I think. I can't imagine why he wouldn't know. I think he also knows trench coat wearing Solomon is not the original.

And I kinda think it might actually be Michael who's pretending to be Solomon?? But as I mentioned in my original hard Lesson 20 post, that would also mean he made a pact with Asmo and that part doesn't make sense.

But the conversation Barbatos has with Solomon after Raphael makes his ultimatum really makes me feel like they are talking about something else. Without getting into ridiculous amounts of detail, it just sounds like Barbatos is saying I'm mad at you, but he's not saying it to Solomon, he's saying it to whoever is disguised as Solomon. He calls him an imbecile multiple times. And yet, Barbatos always used to say how smart Solomon was, so it just doesn't add up. I can't imagine anything that Solomon himself could have actually done to make Barbatos so angry with him. It makes more sense to me for it to be someone else entirely.

I also think that whoever is disguised as Solomon doesn't know that Barbatos knows that it isn't actually Solomon. Like okay, let's just say it's Michael to make it easy. If it's Michael that Barbatos is really mad at, but Michael doesn't know that Barbatos knows that he's Michael, then Michael would continue to respond to Barbatos as though he was Solomon. So if Barbatos is like I'm mad you (meaning Michael) and Michael is thinking okay what did Solomon do but he just has no idea, it makes sense that he would just have to default to saying I don't know why you're mad.

That's a bit of a convoluted mess, though. So I think it's probably unlikely?

Because I will say that I am really reading into things, though. And with this game, it's hard to say what any of what is said actually means. I just thought of the past/present Solomon theory and now I'm always looking for additional proof of it lol.

In the end, I'm still pretty upset with the way Michael decided to just show up and traumatize our poor boys further by granting them a pardon and telling them they can come back, but with all those strings attached. I don't know if this happened because he's just out of touch with everything and didn't realize how stressful that would be for them or if he's really just selfish. He just wants them back and he has the power to do it, maybe? I don't know, but man just leave them alone already would ya!

As for Solomon, I love him no matter what, so I hope that if my theory is correct, it gets resolved in a normal, non-heartbreaking way, thanks. Honestly, I'd rather be wrong about everything if it means sparing us from painful times with Solomon. He's been through enough, too.

Just saw the stuff about night bringer but my mind actually went in another direction when it came to the attic. From what I remember, I haven’t played in a hot minute, there was always something kinda weird about the attic in season 1. Instead could it possibly what happened to the first timeline, after the MC died because that would obviously start issues and Solomon would be trying to figure out what happened in the attic as conflict starts to rage. Or it could also explore the nature of the attic, people have theorized endlessly about Solomon and Lilith, but could there be some odd magic at play in the attic. I don’t think the MC suddenly loading the ability to see the attic door was addressed but it felt wrong when I first read it. Sorry, at this point my mind is just racing with story possibilities.

It is exciting to come up with so many theories but I have an answer to a few of those :)

1. The original timeline no longer exists. It fused with the current one thanks to Barbatos’s powers to choose a sole existing reality

2. The door to the attic was meant so that no demon, Angel, or human could see it. MC is angel/human not specifically one or the other so the spell Lucifer cast didn’t work on them. This could also be Lilith’s interference as she’s shown being able to slightly interact with the physical world

I’m not sure I’ve heard anything about Lilith and Solomon but I do know in his animated UR+ he’s briefly seen crying at an unknown grave

Thoughts on Nightbringer?

God, I feel so out of the loop... I've only seen snippets and rumors of this thing and now I'm very, very curious about what's happening.

OM Nightbringer is like a pre-quel right? Before MC? That makes it sound a lot less cuddly (which I don't mind, personally) and like good potential for fleshing out demon world lore... I do like the idea of getting more concrete ideas of how OM demons live and operate without human/angel interference.

I'm probably going to play it while still doing OM Classic. My game broke a while back so I tried to stop playing but it only lasted a couple months before the boys were LITERALLY haunting my dreams. I guess I'm stuck playing forever now. Eh, I could be under worse curses. 🤷🏾‍♀️ At least this one comes with wish fulfillment.

Nightbringer

Okay, emerging briefly from my hibernation to offer my thoughts on the livestream bombshell that dropped yesterday.

It looks like we’re getting a whole new game with the same characters and the same setting. I’m not sure what this means for the original game. Are they separating the fluff and the actual story now? The trailer is notably grittier and darker than anything we’ve seen yet, befitting the “Nightbringer” moniker.

Here’s a few notable things in the trailer which may or may not be getting attention. I don’t know: I hardly pay attention to most of the fandom.

Time travel shenanigans again

If you weren’t fond of how they handled the time travel in S1, well, you’re probably not going to like this.

In the beginning of the trailer, and at the very end, we get a shot of a bunch of spiraling doors and Barbatos hushing us. Soooo... we’re probably the same MC and we’re deliberately being flung back in time to fix the future, or something along those lines. I would not pin hope on a brand new MC or one of the brothers being a PoV character.

How do the doors relate to Barbatos? Well besides his room featuring them, the devs were so keen on the concept of a room full of thousands of doors that they modeled Barbatos after this concept. They’re finally using it!

The livestream suggested that the story will occur shortly after the Great Celestial War, and there’s several shots in the trailer that support this.

Namely, Satan’s.

We’re finally getting that Satan lore (probably)

One of the first scenes in the trailer is a before and after shot.

We can tell it’s a before-after shot because of the setting (first is the Celestial Realm -- there’s no sun in the Devildom -- and, well, they’re clearly angels) and the fact that Satan isn’t in the first shot.

Additionally, the character reel...

The parallels can’t be any more on the nose, really. Lucifer is in obvious pain and clutching his head, and Satan mirrors him and looks like he wants to gouge out Lucifer’s eyes. Everyone else is just looking cool.

Soon after, we get this scene.

The brothers are filed behind Lucifer/Diavolo in order... except for Satan, who is the closest behind Lucifer. I’m guessing Lucifer just found out he’s a father. Congratulations!

There’s too much here for it not to be a relevant plot point.

Weird Ass (Evil?) Goo

I think one of the game’s weak points is the story doesn’t have any serious threats or big bads, and they don’t have the complex interpersonal relationships to fill in that gap and still make a compelling story -- or, rather, they’re now afraid of portraying our husbandos in unflattering lights for any prolonged period of time now that they’re hopelessly in love with us.

I think they might be changing that with Nightbringer.

Beyond the fact that we’ll need to go back in time for some reason, there’s this weird goop thing in the trailer.

It starts with the moon turning red.

Not a big deal. It looks cool and I’d normally dismiss it as just artistic flair, but this shot follows it right after. It’s some strange liquid swirling around an orb of light (presumably the ‘moon’?)

Weird. Not only that, but...

They zoom in on it and the “moon” inside of it begins to disintegrate. It’s also featured in the background in of each character shot.

I wonder if there’s going to be some evil symbiote messing things up and we’re being sent back in time to destroy it before it gets out of hand lol

Maybe it’s the Nightbringer or something

In conclusion...

I’m cautiously optimistic about this new game but slightly concerned about the old game. This might have been the alternative to writing season 5, but if it gives me the lore and conflict the story so desperately needs, then I’m happy; I’ve stopped logging in for a reason.

I’d like there to be no gacha elements in Nightbringer but hahahahaha that’s not gonna happen

Regarding to Lilith’s lover (Obey Me):

Alright so you know by now there have been theories about Nightbringer and most think we will most likely see her lover. Many speculated her lover is Solomon, but I actually disagree with this:

1. Solomon has mentioned in one of the cards that he never had a lover; HOWEVER, this can be the actual truth or he lied as in the Bible the king Solomon had 300 wives and 400 concubines

2. It would make sense if Lilith's lover is Adam. As in some sources it is stated that Lilith was Adam's mistress or first lover before Eve came around.

3. IF Solomon was actually Lilith’s lover, not only this is just straight up weird that he is one of MC's love interests but he also literally their/our ancestor....

4. I am pretty sure the demon brothers would immediately kill Solomon when they see him. "But what if they forgot about him?" Lucifer stated in one of the chapters that he had seen her lover which means he still remembers how the lover looks like. Plus I'm sure Diavolo would not let Solomon be part of the exchange program in the first place as he is aware of the rough past of the brothers. And to add more on top I'm sure Asmodeus wouldn't even make a pact with him in the first place or even be friends with him.

5. "But there was a gif of Solomon placing a flower on a grave" yes but that grave could literally be anyone as Solomon is immortal and his friends and others are dead. Maybe the grave is his mentor's. Maybe the grave is one of his 700 lovers. We don't know. But we do know Lilith’s body was with Lucifer and Diavolo and Diavolo turned her body into human to be reincarnated so her body is just g o n e.

Lilith and the "devildom air" theory and why Luke and Simeon are not harmed as angels

She was already fatally and critically wounded in the war making her vulnerable to the "devildom air" coming to contact with her open wounds. When Simeon and Luke arrived in the devildom, they were physically well. The celestial war was over. If Luke trips while running and scrapes his knee, the devildom air might make him sick for a couple days. Someone protect the baby!

What if Barbatos is actually the Little D to Nightbringer?

Okay, I know it sounds weird but hear me out. Maybe not all fairy counterparts are Little D’s.

1. Barbatos seems to understand Little D’s better than anyone + they listen to him and seem to look up to him.

2. That mysterious call in WW where Barb isn’t confirming or denying he has a Little D to amuse Diavolo but also to dodge the subject.

3. He states he was never a kid - little D’s spring up just like in one form - no child form.

4. Barbatos states that Little D can be a bit ambiguous about their race and can be considered fairies or demons. They like to be considered demons.

5. Nowhere does it explicitly state that Little D’s are the only type of counterpart, just that they are a counterpart to demons so there could be other types of counterpart fairies.

6. Barb and NB are both very old and deal with time travel and dimensional powers.

7. At this point it is clear that NB and Barb are related somehow but it still doesn’t make sense for Barb to be NB as far as motive and plot go.

What if Barbatos was brought into existence when NB was OR when NB created the Fountain of Knowledge?

It would explain why he brings Solomon there to recover because it has importance to his existence. He would know exactly how to use the fountain to help Solomon become “Solomon the Wise”.
