===
CG: OH HEY. FUCK YOU.
CG: I'M JUST ACCOUNTING FOR THE LITERAL FUCKING INEVITABILITY THAT WHEN I TAKE THIS PHOTO, SOME INSIDIOUS LITTLE KARMA GNOME WILL FROLIC ONTO THE SCENE IN AN UNBELIEVABLE STROKE OF LOATHSOME SERENDIPITY TO BURY ME IN 12 CUBIC METERS OF FOOL-GRADE FUCKING IDIOT POWDER.
CG: AT WHICH POINT ANOTHER HEFTY BOULDER WILL BE ADDED TO THE BULGING MACRO-BINDLE OF SHAME YOU PEOPLE HAVE FORCED ME INTO CARRYING MY WHOLE LIFE.

CG: OK, FINE. BUT I AM HOLDING YOU TO THA --
===
CG: HA HA EGBERT. VERY FUCKING FUNNY.
CG: FOR YOUR SAKE I SERIOUSLY HOPE THIS IS JUST AN EMBARRASSING NOSTALGIA-DRIVEN LAPSE IN HUMOR AND NOT A GENUINE ATTEMPT TO "PRANK" ME. I REALLY DO!
EB: huh? who is this "egbert" you speak of? i have never heard of such a character.
CG: OH, JUST THIS BULGECRUD-HUFFING IMBECILE THAT FALLS BACK ON SHITTY PRACTICAL JOKES SO PLAYED-OUT THAT THEY PHYSICALLY HURT TO BEAR WITNESS TO.
CG: MY LOWER JAW IS THREATENING TO REVERSE-DROP WITH ENOUGH VELOCITY TO BURROW DIRECTLY INTO MY THOUGHT SPONGE, KILLING ME INSTANTLY.
CG: SO EITHER GET SOME NEW MATERIAL OR GET ME TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM, YOUR PICK.
EB: damn, ok. that does sound like some pretty serious bullshit, but…
===
EB: whoever that weirdo next to you is kind of seems like he needs medical resistance more than you do!

Paywall alert so I pasted the article below...
It happens to be international Stereoscopy Day on the day that I interview Brian May. The rock star marks it by wearing a T-shirt from which a portrait of a Victorian scientist, Charles Wheatstone, looks out. Not that I would recognise him. This musical instrument-maker turned scientist is hardly a household name — unless of course you are a follower of the astrophysicist turned lead guitarist of Queen. Then you may well have stumbled across him because May is quite possibly Wheatstone’s biggest fan.
His passion dates back to his childhood days in suburban Feltham, he explains. May turns 76 next month, “But I still remember the moment as clearly as if was yesterday,” he says. “I opened a Weetabix packet at breakfast and found a little card inside, only a few inches across. It had two coloured pictures on it, of hippos. They looked the same and I wondered why they were giving me two. ‘For glorious full-colour realism send off now for your 3D viewer,’ the instructions said. [He still has them.] So I sent off one-and-sixpence — I earned pocket money for doing chores like mowing the grass — and a packet top and a little viewer arrived in the post.
Tumblr media
A James Elliott stereoscope, Ophelia
“I put the card in the viewer. It was like looking through a window. I felt as if I could touch those hippos. I could almost smell their breath. I could almost have fallen into their mouths. And I thought if this is what photography can do, why is anybody bothering with flat pictures? Why isn’t this stereoscopy everywhere?”
Stereoscopy — creating a three-dimensional illusion from flat images using small changes in angle — preceded the invention of photography, May explains, and Wheatstone was quick off the mark in spotting its potential. Producing the first working model, he coined the term “stereoscope” at a Royal Society unveiling in 1838. “The Victorians were completely knocked out. It became an enormous craze. Before, people had only seen drawings of the pyramids or tea planting in China. Suddenly they could look into this little dark box and feel as if they were there. And it was utterly astonishing to them.”
May too was entranced by this new kind of magic. “I was hooked. I quickly figured out how it was done and took pictures of Mum and Dad in the garden. And I was a stereoscopist from then on. I even invented my own imaginary company called See Through Ltd. And years and years later with the help of friends we founded, or rather re-founded, the London Stereoscopic Company, which had been such a major force in Victorian times.”
This month the Watts Gallery in Compton, Surrey, will be hosting a stereoscopic celebration in the form of an exhibition, Victorian Virtual Reality. It will present more than 150 images from May’s now massive archive built up over the course of 50 years — at first little by little when he was a student, but subsequently amassed at a voracious rate by a rock star who, according to recent estimates, is worth about £167 million.
Among the images on show will be one of the youthful May taken when his trademark bushy hair — now completely grey — was still black. Visitors will be invited to look at pictures that range from Egyptian pyramids to a portrait of Charles Dickens or rural scenes by May’s “ultimate hero”, the photographer TR Williams, to a Waterloo veteran with three-cornered hat and wooden legs.
It’s easy to understand how thrilling they must once have been. But May, who studied astrophysics at Imperial College London, is interested also in stereoscopy’s futuristic relevance.
Tumblr media
Freddie Mercury and May at Live Aid, 1985
As a teenager he built his iconic Red Special guitar and, later, quit a PhD in astrophysics (A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud) to follow his rock dreams. He eventually completed his doctorate, almost 40 years later, and now spends a lot of time working with Nasa. As a self-confessed “stereoscopic evangelist” he loves bringing this Victorian technology to play in present-day situations.
About seven years ago, he explains, Nasa launched a mission, Osiris Rex, which involved sending a spacecraft to an asteroid about half a kilometre in diameter. “The whole point of the project,” he says, “was to bring a sample back, which meant that they had to land the craft momentarily upon the surface. But this object is not solid; it’s a rubble pile — an aggregation of rocks and pebbles and dust. It’s very uneven and so hard to find a spot where you can land safely. If the spacecraft fell over, the whole mission would fail.”
What stereoscopy was able to do, May explains proudly, was put together 3D images of the terrain and so find a safe site. “They landed the craft, sucked up the stones and rubble that they wanted, and now it’s on its way back to Earth,” says May, who plans shortly to publish a book, Bennu 3-D: the first atlas of an asteroid, with the added dimension of 3D.
And how does stereoscopy come to bear upon his own future? He describes virtual reality as “the grandchild of the stereoscope”. So will Queen go virtual? Will they create their own version of the hugely successful Abba Voyage show? Will a hologram bring Freddie Mercury back to the limelight?
“Not while we are alive,” May says. “We have toyed with these things. We actually use some images of Freddie in our show. But we prefer to keep it more real. The whole thing about Queen is that we never play to clicks. We don’t have backing tracks; we just play live and dangerous. And if there was too much jiggery-pokery going on with regards to Freddie, I think we would lose that.
“I was told in school that I couldn’t be an artist and a scientist, that I had to choose,” May continues. “I resented that and I think I’ve spent the rest of my life trying to prove people wrong. I believe that to be a complete person you should have all these facets. The truly creative minds understand both. Isaac Newton was a musician as well as a scientist. And a lot of scientific discoveries and concepts are fuelled by an artistic appreciation of nature. Think of Watson and Crick who discovered the double helix: they didn’t discover it through electron microscopy. It was intuition. They woke up and thought, ‘Oh, I wonder if it was a spiral and things were connected across the middle?’ They were being like artists and scientists at the same time.
“I spend a lot of my time still with astrophysicists. I spend a lot also making music. But I also spend a lot of my time trying to rescue wildlife and to change the laws that should be protecting it. To me it’s all part of the same thing — part of being a complete three-dimensional human being.”
At his Save Me Trust — a campaigning wildlife institution founded by May, who is vice-president of the RSPCA — a couple of hundred hedgehogs overwintered last year. There are also rescued deer, foxes, mice and bats. But badgers appear to be his presiding obsession. “One of the great tragedies of our lifetime, and I think the greatest crime against wildlife in our generation, is the culling of badgers,” he says. “Culling them is a tragic mistake. It hasn’t achieved anything. It hasn’t saved a single cow’s life; it hasn’t made a single farmer’s life better.”
May acknowledges that managing the environment is very complex. Soil microbes, veganism and food miles all crop up in the course of his impassioned conversation. If he had to recommend one action that we could all take tomorrow, it would be to get rid of all our pesticides. “Go into your garden shed and get rid of anything that’s poisonous for the sake of your wildlife, for the sake of your children and for the sake of the birds who eat the snails and slugs. Don’t ever use a slug killer again.
“And don’t eat meat,” he adds — he is a vegetarian verging upon vegan, but still partial to the occasional bit of fish — “because meat is one of the biggest polluters of the planet and it’s one of the biggest contributors to global warming. Every responsible prime minister should be telling us not to eat meat.”
May nearly died during lockdown. He suffered a heart attack followed by stomach problems that led to him coming “close to dying”. But he is back on top. At the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee he followed his extraordinary Golden Jubilee performance on the roof of Buckingham Palace with an equally iconic appearance and even persuaded the Queen to tap along. He’s always ready to innovate and adapt. Knighted this year, he confesses that he wrestled for a while with whether he would like to be known as “Sir” or “Dr”. “I worked really hard for my doctorate and I didn’t like giving it up. But the easiest thing is to move on, so I went with the new appellation. Sir Bry is fine. I don’t mind what people call me really. As long as they don’t call me late for dinner,” he adds, quoting Groucho Marx.
Rock bands and badgers, Nasa and the RSPCA all come together in this family man (he is married to the actress Anita Dobson and has three children with his first wife, the model Chrissie Mullen) and musical icon, calmly spoken interviewee and political ranter (look at his online blog, Brian’s Soapbox). Little wonder that May is so entranced by stereoscopy. You need that sort of vision to pull all his many facets into one whole.
Victorian Virtual Reality is at the Watts Gallery (wattsgallery.org.uk) in Compton, near Guildford in Surrey, July 4 to February 25

*Bams the door down*
Hello!
Tell me about your ocs please! All the random facts! Well not technically all, just some of them, you get what I mean. XD
I Want To Know More!
And also how's you been? And what do you think about everything that exists? =>
Random facts time!!!
Ill try to list them in order of like, my first OC to my most recent OC's
Jinx first!!!
Jinx was once turned into a cat by the villains, and Jinx was pretty chill about it really, they loved knocking stuff over at the villain base, and since the villains thought they was just turned into a cat, no JInx inside, they just assumed it was normal cat behavior
Jinx is a magpie, like they LOVE shiny stuff, like, once, the heroes and villains were fighting over an ancient artifact, who gets it, the heroes want it so that they know the villains cant abuse it, and the villains want it for power, and then Jinx just ups and steals it just cause its shiny
Jinx has a twin brother Aegis, hes the opposite of Jinx, a hero, no-nonsense, his powers is to create shields, i made him after i made Jinx, but using the base i made for Jinx
Tumblr media
Aegis is Bisexual and up for poly btw (i even thought about making him date the leader of the heroes and the leader of the villains just for the shits and giggles,)
Jinx lives with their brother (Aegis is older by 2 minutes ["best 2 minutes of my life" lol], cause their parents kicked Jinx out at 18, and Aegis was disgusted by that, so he lived with Jinx
Jinx didnt get much attention as a child, so that's why they're what they're like today, he has flair, a loud voice, just so that they get attention,
also, Jinx had to mostly fend for themself as a child, and they were given almost no supervision, since their parents gave Aegis more attention and training, believing that AEgis was more fit to be a superhero, so Jinx could do whatever, really, so they ate a lot of candy, thus giving themselves a sweet tooth. This is also why Jinx is childish, they wasn't allowed to be a child back then so their allowing themselves to be a child
Also, im starting to wonder if Jinx does have a label on what side they're on, like, anti-heroes, to my research, do bad things for good. Anti-villains do good things for bad stuff, so I don't know if Jinx does have a side, cause they just do their own thing, sometimes joining the villains, sometimes joining the heroes, sometimes being an annoyance to both, so like, they're undecided i guess?? (Kinda like they're gender, it switches lol) Lemme look something up real quick...i guess JInx is like a rogue?
Also, Jinx, having no side, maybe has a lair of their own, a small one though, I've been thinking maybe a candy shop? Like, there's a basement of operations down there, and there's a candy shop up top?
Also, Jinx is Chaotic Lawful (or lawful chaotic), where they have a moral code, no one knows what it is though, but thank goodness its there
At first, i wanted to make Jinx have a double life as Casey, but then the more i thought about casey and their stories, it kinda spiraled into casey becoming their own character,
Now, onto Casey!!! Doing this cause he inspired a TON of characters
Caseys a trans man (aka ftm,), and has transitioned now.
He's a tired photographer and journalist (online), goes to college, engineering, he lives with his brother, Ryan Thompson (or Velocity as his hero name), also lives with his brother
Casey is Ryans adopted little brother, Caseys parents are Lady Luck and Mr. Misfortune (idk if i should give him siblings he was separated from)
So pretty much Casey has terrible and Amazing luck, they don't cancel each other out
This is pretty much where chaos happens around casey, but casey somehow gets out unharmed, which is great for his Photography and Journalism blog cause he usually stumbles into super fights!
Also, Caseys like, the go-to kidnapping victim for the villains, where they kidnap him a lot (they don't hurt him, cause i think I'm leaning more into comedy in my world ), and the heroes save him a lot, this led to him knowing a lot about both sides, also, once, Casey got out of his binds when the villains kidnapped him and left him, and instead of escaping, he takes pictures of the lair first, and gets out, and then proceeded to post the pictures and compliment the villain's style.
Also, Casey usually doesnt talk, mostly to people he doesn't know that much, if he's with Ryan or anyone he's really comfortable with, he will not shut up, showing them pictures, stuff he made using engineering, etc.
Also, every character inspired by Casey (like, they first started out as, haha, what if Casey was ___) has a white streak on their hair, so if you see an OC of mine with a white streak, you know what that means!
Now, Dr. Wilde!!
As you know, Dr. Wilde is a crazy scientist!
Dr. Wilde allows Lumi to call him Ezra (at first Lumi called him Dr. Ezra, but as they got more close Lumi started to call him Ezra, like a friend)
Casey has interviewed Dr. Wilde at some point, and even took pictures of his lab, and Casey has taken care of Tar once (picturing Tar and uploading to the internet how weird the rat is, and that once, the rat got in the oven while Casey was baking and it somehow survived)
Dr. Wilde has dyed Tar's fur a bit (haven't decided what color yet), just so that he can differentiate between the lab rats and Tar
Dr. Wilde's lab is right next to his room (which is like a house, having a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, etc.),
Dr. Wilde rarely leaves his lab / room, as he isn't really interested in the outside world, and when he does leave, he brings Tar with him, and Tar is just perched over Dr. Wilde's shoulder
Dr. Wilde is pretty short, compared to other villains (i should make a height chart actually), where the villains tower over him
Dr. Wilde has green eyes, also, if you look at him, he WILL stare into your soul, no one has ever seen him blink,
Now, Onto Darian Knight / Eclipse!!
As you can see, Darian is inspired by casey,
Darian, at first, joined the heroes to spite his dad, who was a villain back then, but after a while, he did come to like being a hero
Darian joined when he was 18, and he's surprised people still think he's a villain
Solar Flare and Casey are the few people who believe he's a genuine hero, Solar Flare cause he's worked with Darian long enough to know he's being genuine, and Casey cause he interviewed anough people to know whats a lie and whats not, Lumi also knows Casey isn't a villain
Sunny Knight / Lumi!!
He joined the villains at 19, about the same time as Darian,
At home with their parents, Sunny and Darian are more civil, more sibling-like,
In the battlefield, Sunny and Darian try to incapacitate each other than hurt, since, yknow, they're siblings. But they don't fight in the battlefield much, since sometimes Sunny and Darian converse, and the hereos and villains think that Sunny and Darian are teaming up and switching sides (Darian to villains and Sunny to heroes),
Also, Lumi joined the villains just because he could, and it looked fun
i dont have much on newer OC's lol, since i havent fleshed them out much lol
I also have a few more OC's i haven't talked about / fleshed out that much, like they're just an idea, but not a person yet.
Like uhh
Viz:
Theyre a hero with high anxiety, but despite having anxiety, and knowing he would get attention, interviews, etc. He still decides to be a hero, since to him, its the right thing to do. I still haven't showed them yet cause 1. i haven't drawn them yet, 2. with anxiety like them, i want to make sure i represent them well and make them realistic and that i don't make them like a stereotype
Starlight / Adrian Celeste:
Hes a self absorbed egocentric hero, and he's vain, he's kinda a joke hero i thought about, where like, he's self absorbed to the point its funny, hes still nice though, he doesn't show it much though, since he doesn't want to seem vulnerable and stuff. a simple backstory I thought about is that he was put down back then when he was young, so to make himself more confident, he started to compliment himself, and other stuff, but then it quickly spiraled put of control, and now hes like this. He also carries a mirror with himself at all times, just to admire himself, and his mirror in his room has sticky note surrounding where his face would be, and it says "perfect" "amazing" etc. also, he can glow, heal, teleport, and kinda has the ability to see the future (in like a vague way, like, he sees the stars and can sense something in the future, but its just really vague)
Jester / R.J. Santos: (Civilian name im not sure on yet)
Theyre a villain, a non serious villain, think like a cartoon villain, a goofy villain, they dont do any harm, just there to have fun. they also wanted to name themselves Jester Jinx, but since Jinx already had the name, they were okay with going with just Jester. Also, he's filipino. Also, he cares for young heroes (being an impromptu dad himself [long story where a kid of a hero wanted to be a villain, but the parent wanted them to be a hero, so the kid ran away, and got to casey, and casey took care of them and helped them be a villain {the kids, actually a teen, like 16, the teen is names Shadowstrike and their civilian name is Micheal, they hate the name by the way},]), and once, casey saw that the heroes were sending young heroes to his base to defeat him, and R.J. doesn't spot a singular a singular adult there, so he makes the young heroes (teens and even kids) sit down and stuff, and then he calls the heroes (he has their number cause they're usually on good terms), and yells at them over the phone for sending kids to a villain, and that they could've gotten hurt, and he gets so angry he starts shouting in filipino. Also! R.J. has a big family (based off my family), where his great grandma had 12 kids, and those kids (his grandparents and grand aunties and uncles) had kids (about 3 each), his aunties and uncles, and they have kids as well (about 3-5), his cousins and such, and his cousins had children as well, R.J. tries to remember them all by name, but its pretty hard, cause like, he has about
...
three- three thousand, three thousand family members?! Uhm, hold on i gotta ask my mom something about my family, or my dad since that family is on his side
Oh thank god, i only have 106 family members,
uh, so like, new and revised family tree!
my famly is gonna be R.j's family (cause holy fuck no way am i writing 3 thousand family members , J.C.) that's whats R.J's family is gonna be, 106 family members,
Anyways, ive been doing okay-ish! Could be better, but could be worse XP (lets just say the AO3 author curse is real). And i think of things that exist are poggers.

Black Mesas and Sand Dunes in Mauritania
As the International Space Station orbited over the Sahara Desert in the late-afternoon of May 3, 2023, an astronaut took this photograph of hills and sand dunes in southern Mauritania. A line of dark, flat-topped hills known as mesas dominate the view. The small town of Guérou is a faint gray patch on the banks of a small stream. The faint line of a road can be seen cutting through the landscape and connecting with Guérou.
The mesas are remnants of a large Paleozoic Era sandstone formation. They rise steeply 300 to 400 meters (1,000 to 1,300 feet) above the surrounding plain. Rocky surfaces in deserts often appear dark-toned as a result of a thin layer of black rock varnish that develops on rock surfaces enriched in manganese.
Sand grains carried by the dominant winds—coming from the northeast or the right side of this image—are dropped where upwind slopes of the mesas slow wind velocity. Here the grains form yellow-to-tan-toned patches known as climbing dunes. Smaller dunes form farther away from the mesas and take on the curved shape typical of barchan dunes. Mesas influence local surface winds and sand transport, leading to barchan dune formation up to 15 kilometers (9 miles) away in the upwind direction.
Dune sand does not accumulate on the downwind side of the mesas because of a phenomenon known as wind scour. The mesas cause swirls in the wind (vortices) to form immediately downwind. Vortex winds are faster than the easterly winds and transport sand grains away from each mesa.
Another astronaut image, taken in 2014, shows a wider view of this photogenic part of the Sahara Desert.
Astronaut photograph ISS069-E-9197 was acquired on May 3, 2023, with a Nikon D5 digital camera using a focal length of 400 millimeters. It was provided by the ISS Crew Earth Observations Facility and the Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit, Johnson Space Center. The image was taken by a member of the Expedition 69 crew. The image has been cropped and enhanced to improve contrast, and lens artifacts have been removed. The International Space Station Program supports the laboratory as part of the ISS National Lab to help astronauts take pictures of Earth that will be of the greatest value to scientists and the public, and to make those images freely available on the Internet. Additional images taken by astronauts and cosmonauts can be viewed at the NASA/JSC Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth. Caption by Justin Wilkinson, Texas State University, JETS Contract at NASA-JSC, and Susan Runco (NASA retired).

wild going back to tng s1 when they fully believed that a commbadge could contain an always-on instantaneous automatic long range communications node, but not like, a camera
digital cameras weren't even a dream yet, that's how stuck in the 1980s tng was at first, they had portable devices that could scan for lifeforms and do metallurgical analysis on the fly and they could teleport from place to place and had cars that could achieve orbital velocity and travel at warp speed, but picard could only communicate with riker down on the planet via RADIO
bc the whole premise of live feed video conferencing required dedicated hardware with either a landline hard wired data connection, or a starship with a warp core powering the antennae
they didnt have satellite photography either, nobody on the enterprise could even point a camera down at the planet and see what was happening from above, which is even wilder bc we put space probes in orbit of the outer planets in the 70s! but still, nah, the enterprise can't even do grainy black and white imagery like v'ger
but then jump ahead a couple seasons and everyone has kindles and ipads bc tng INVENTED THEM

#giudittapills #malaysia #malesia #instagood #photooftheday #travelphotography #travel #photography (presso Penang) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cmt7B-cvK4w/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

"Transience" titola Mateusz Kuca.
"The beauty of impermanence" chiosa Gee Hurkmans.
Transience, impermanence.
Significano la stessa cosa.
Provvisorietà, transitorietà.
Ecco, transitorietà.
Dal latino "transire".
L'etimologia ci dice:
trans + ire = andare oltre.
Ecco, oltre.
Sapete, le lunghe esposizioni possono neutralizzare per evidenziare.
Succede presso i torrenti.
Cose attorno accadono.
S'erge scultorealmente ed imperituramente maestosa, lei.
