Salmon Chirashi (Japanese "Scattered Sushi")
The Brave Blossoms gave it their all and kept the game against Argentina close in last Sunday's game' first half; but eventually, Los Pumas roared and the Japanese couldn't repeat the historic feat of their home tournament four years ago, and did not qualify for the quarter-finals. They showed great skills, and great class and thanked their fans, bowing to the supporters after the match. This Salmon Chirashi, which take little time and few ingredients to prepare, and yet makes a delicious meal pays homage to this vailliant team's strength and humility! Happy Thursday!
Ingredients (serves 2):
2 cups leftover cooked fluffy white rice
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1/2 cup frozen broad beans (or edamame if you can find it easily!)
1 small, ripe avocado
1/2 lime
a fillet fresh salmon
sushi ginger, to serve
In a medium bowl, combine rice and rice vinegar, stirring well to combine. Spoon vinegar rice in a steaming basket, and fit it over a pot of boiling water. Cover with the lid, and warm, about 10 minutes.
In a small saucepan of salted boiling water, add frozen broad beans.
Peel, pit and dice avocado. Squeeze lime juice generously over the avocado.
Using a sharp knife, cut salmon fillet into slices just a bit thicker than sashimi.
Spoon warm vinegar rice into two serving bowls.
Arrange salmon slices, avocado dices, broad beans (or edamame) on top. Garnish with sushi ginger.
Serve Salmon Chirashi immediately, with soy sauce, a chilled Japanese beer or Matcha Honey Soda!

When it comes to condiments fewer are more expensive than Japan’s kurozu vinegar. Using an ancient process that takes up to five years, kurozu is a vinegar like no other.

drop your lotus root and pork rib soup recipe? 👀
HEYO so i use this one but super emphasis on the soaking/blanching step cos thatll make your soup a hundred times better, i dont use goji berries or scallions (dont like goji berries, im allergic to alliums) but i do sometimes add additional stuff to the soup base depending on what i have and am in the mood for lol their suggestion to serve with light soy sauce is inspired

You can dilute it with water to help with that
That’s what I do if I drink it more often
But usually I just do a shot of it as a treat once every three months

friends. romans. not romans. whoever u r. listen. listen 2 me and this life hack.
buy capers (if u like the taste. if not then rip and sorry. i like them very much.)
trader joes has a p big jar of 'em for like, $3. they are delicious and will last forever also will make you feel like u r fancy and eating a proper meal somehow.
fifth night of buttered noodles bcos u have nothing else? toss a few capers on there.
putting fake bacon bits on toast bcos it's basically like a breakfast? capers. (also toss all that under the broiler for a hot second. careful not to burn.)
eating scraps of cheese in the middle of the night bcos u hyperfocused on a project and no longer have frozen burritos for emergencies? add capers. now practically charcuterie.
got those frozen burritos again? capers on 'em. for funsies. inauthentic but fancy as fuck.
(while ur at it, get one of those squeezy bottles of lemon juice. yes i know it's not as good as fresh lemons. but sometimes you will forget about your lemons and they will go bad right when u remembered them for a dish ur halfway through cooking, and then where will u be? squeezy lemon juice. plus it's fun to add to things and feel fancy. 'really brightens up the whole thing' you can say about your cheese scraps with lemon juice.)
