The vigorous deciduous climber Parthenocissus quinquefolia (Virginia creeper, American ivy, American woodbine, false grape, five-leaved ivy, wild wood vine) provides vivid autumn colour. Here the stems look great tumbling from this tree in a garden setting but care has to be taken as this is classified in the U.K. as an invasive non-native plants.

And I’ve been thinking about Parthenocissus quinquefolia (Virginia Creeper) so I was like… yes. Finally. It’s such a good vine! The pink things are adhesive pads on roots designed for climbing, and I also felt bad bc I always thought it was invasive but it’s actually native to a good chunk of North America. I owe it some love.
And, I am shooting for that travel grant/botany conference in a month and will probably draw “but if they were an actual botanist” sort of things and take requests of text posts for a kofi donation ($2).
