● 3 magicians/occultists sure make for a hell of an interesting relationship

● traveling around the world keeping the paranormal and supernatural at bay

● and always enjoying a good drink at the end of the day

● or before noon if it's just that kind of day

● which it often is because exorcisms can take a lot out of you

● going to Zatanna's magic shows and proudly cheering her on from the front row

● and always volunteering yourselves when she asks for audience participation

● John still gets a kick whenever she cuts him half

● when you or John annoy Zatanna she just casually drops a spell to turn you guys into rabbits

● "what did we do this time??"

● "you guys ate my leftovers again that I clearly labeled were mine!"

● Zatanna also has to stop you and John from doing stupid shit like when you drunkenly dare each other to try on doctor fates helmet

Hellooo! This is a twilight fanfic, I really like vampires in all their forms so I’ll probably have a lot of those written on here. :))) but yeah, enjoy the hopefully ongoing story of Aro from twilight x reader!

Chapter One: Ruthless

"Help me please—“ Pleaded an old woman, bloody fists clinging to your cream colored satin vest.

“Abbi pietà di Dio!” She continues her pleas to you, staring into your {e/c} eyes with her puffy onyx colored eyes.

“Ma'am please be rational.” Felix sighed, pulling her bloodied hands off your now dirty vest.

“Would you be so kind as to not touch the staff? Come back to the tour group with me.” He spoke in a flat, annoyed tone.

“No! Stai lontano, demone!" she screamed at Felix who only rolled his eyes and stood off to the side.

"Please! Young man… help me!" the old woman looked at you pleadingly.

“Madam, with all due respect, I don't really care much for the meaningless begging.” You muttered, glaring at your ruined shirt.

“Per favore... per favore abbiate compassione.” She begged again.

“Compassion? Tch… you’ve ruined a good shirt and you want compassion?” You hummed wickedly, turning your back to her.

You caught Felix with a pleased smirk before taking the woman back to the Volturi and their coven.

“Well she wasn’t very pleasant.” You muttered to the desk woman, Gianna, who, though she’d seen much in her time here, still seemed disheartened at the sight.

You didn’t stop for conversation going to your quarters and finding a new vest and shirt to wear, choosing a warm brown vest and cream button, up. You took the tainted clothes and brought them to the fireplace within the lounge and tossed them into the blaze. “I liked that set.” You commented on the loss of clothes aloud, mostly to yourself but Gianna let out a sympathetic laugh.

“It’s alright y/n you look dashing in the suit you're in now.” She commented softly.

You huffed softly and sat down on the sofa, picking up the book you were so rudely drawn from and found your page, starting it over much to your annoyance. You heard the faint screams of terror, and carnivorous growls of the coven but ignored it, with much ease, but you still heard Gianna gasp occasionally at the sounds.

“There there Gianna.” You comforted halfheartedly “it’ll be over soon and you can get back to sitting relaxed, and pretty.” You added blankly.

She let out an offended huff before digging a magazine out from her desk and reading it, trying to clone your stoic demeanor.

You smirked at her lame attempt, she wouldn’t last here long, most humans never did, you however, were probably the longest surviving human here, going on nine years this Tuesday. You contained your surprise at their willingness to keep you around, like the liability you’ve been told you are.

You’d grown a kin to the vampire coven though, Jane, and her twin Alec had become chatty .

They’d been so kind as to give you a place to stay for all the years, with promises of your comfort, safety, and immortality.

After what seemed like a short time Felix had returned and sprang over the couch gracefully, sitting beside you, cloak smelling of copper and filth, you paid no mind to it aside from his bloody cloak touching you.

“Really Felix, do be careful, I've just changed.” You warned and flipped your page, you felt his ruby eyes boring into the side of your head “go and change.” You added rather firmly.

“Yeah yeah, In a moment, what have you got there? Frankenstein? That’s a bit spooky for a human like yourself isn’t it?” He teased you with a koi smirk.

“I don’t think so at all. It’s a beautiful piece of work really.” You hummed “hard to enjoy with screaming old women though.” You joked, earning you a hearty laugh from Felix.

“Yeah, sorry about that, usually they don’t slip past me.” He hummed snarkily before getting up and going to change.

“Ah, Ciao amico mio mortale!” Aro greeted you softly, graciously taking Felix’s space beside you.

Now your attention is on him, putting the book down and welcoming his presence with a smile of delight, “ciao Aro.” You greeted him gently.

“I was told your favorite vest was ruined by one of our guests, I’m terribly sorry I’ll have you a new one tailored.” He said, disdain for the loss clear in his tone.

“Oh don’t worry about it sir,” You said modestly “I’ll buy myself a new one.” You added, you didn’t like receiving gifts from the vampire, Aro having done more than you could ever expect from something of his nature.

“I insist. After all it was ruined from a mess you hadn’t created.” He spoke vaguely, but the annoyance in his tone was clear.

“Accidents happen, I’m not worried about it I assure you.” You said softly, you admired his cloudy red eyes, he was crisp and clean as always, the only sign of his eating was the brighter hue in his clouded eyes.

“Nonsense.” Aro said, his tone firm “I'll have a new one tailored for you.” He repeated again and gently grabbed the book that you’d set down “ah Frankenstein? A good piece of literature I take?” Aro hummed, he’d taken upon himself to listen to you and Felix’s conversation, so that he could bring up anything that might’ve intrigued a longer conversation.

“Yeah, it’s really good. The monster's creator is a crazy grave robber.” You hummed, dropping the subject of the vest, you knew your battles, swaying his choices wasn’t one of them. You gently took the book from the vampire's hands “I could loan it to you sometime? It’s good to read books for entertainment sometimes.” You chuckled softly, teasing the old vampire.

“Well, after all my years of living entertaining novels and fiction have slipped my mind.” He said simply, stating the fact in agreement, Aro never fancied reading such mundane things, but your interest in them made him want to partake in it.

“I’m only teasing vecchio amico.” You commented, opening up to the page you were on one again.

“Perhaps, sometime this evening you could do me the honor of reading it to me?” He asked you slowly, as if the question would stump you.

It did. You swallowed the small lump forming in your throat and felt your pulse speed, just a bit. “Me read to you sir?” You confirmed, matching his slow pace, though yours was simply out of surprise.

“Yes,” he hummed gently, swinging his cape off his shoulders “like a… bedtime story, almost.” He added with amusement.

You gave out a gentle laugh at his last statement “if you’d like me to read to you I’d be glad too…” you agreed gladly and crossed your legs loosely.

“Good, shall I meet you in your home later this evening?” he asked you.

“Yeah sure that’s fine.” You agreed, giving a small smile before looking away from the vampire.

He wanted your attention, he needed your eyes on him, the way they lit up as he spoke amused him, and how you hung onto his sentences, like he was a god, you as a human fascinated him. His fascination wasn’t meant to last this long, but here he stood, intrigued by you, dare he think that he too hung on your words? Did his soulless eyes flash when you spoke, did he sound excited when you’d agreed to humor him by reading to him? He wondered if you knew your blood wasn’t the only thing he was hungry for.

“Sir?… sir?” You asked the old vampire, who’s mind seemed to be elsewhere, you wished you could hear his thoughts, the brain of a vampire of his status had to be a fascinating one.

“Hm?… sorry, cara mia, our conversation left me at the moment, what were you saying?” He asked softly, giving you a slight smile.

“I was just saying if you wanted I could read something more indulgent? I know these sorts of books aren’t really your cup of tea…” you hummed, your book closed in your lap, your mesmerizing eyes now locked onto his dull ruby ones.

“Nonsense. I wish to learn more about you…r human interests.” He said slowly, correcting himself, hoping you’d think of it as a slip of his mind.

You smiled softly “really? That’s very new of you sir, I didn’t take you for the type to venture past old scripture and poetry,” you hummed “no offense.” You added smoothly.

“None taken, you're right, I don’t seem the… type.” He agreed, mirroring your more modern construction of words.

You smiled warmly and leaned into the couch and closed your eyes, the sound of your own breathing filled your ears. You had gotten so used to only hearing your own breathing that it startled you when Gianna or the other human you worked with approached you, once again Gianna had startled you with her presence and you opened one eye, not interested in what she wanted to say.

“Uhm… Y-y/n I need your help cleaning up… Toby is sick.” She mumbled, knowing you just changed, that and her being this close to Aro made her nervous.

You sighed and rolled your eyes “he's still sick at the sight of death?” You muttered before standing up and gently resting your book on the lounging table in front of you and the old vampire.

“He’s only been here a month.”

“And? How’s he expecting the gift of immortality if he can’t stand the sight of the very thing that will keep him alive someday?” You asked rhetorically, you weren’t kind to him or Gianna, their presence annoyed you, and their whiny demeanors made your blood boil.

“I-I don’t know Y/n…” she mumbled softly and looked down.

“Yeah well, sit this one out princess. Toby’s pulling his weight around here whether he can stomach it or not.” You mumbled and stretched yourself out.

Gianna seemed to relax a little, glad she didn’t need to clean it but upset that Toby paid the price. You walked past her “I’ll see you later this evening Aro.” You called to him affectionately, as you walked down the corridor you saw Toby exit out of the bathroom.

He saw you and his face went red in embarrassment “I-I’m sorry Y/n I’ll get used to it I promise.” He mumbled softly and started back to his quarters.

“You're right and you’ll do it today.” You hummed and grabbed his wrist.

“Y/n….” He looked up in your eyes and went silent.

“You know what my mentor did the first time I threw up at the sight of carnage?” You asked softly and put an arm around his shoulders almost affectionately.

“What did they do?…” he asked.

“She made me clean it up by myself.” You hummed and pushed him into the room that reeked of death.

“Y/n please I don’t wanna clean alone.” Toby started to beg.

You rolled your eyes and sat down on a nearby bench “relax, I’m just gonna make sure you don’t throw up on things.” You hummed shortly and crossed your legs “I won’t leave you alone.” You rolled your eyes.

Toby glared at you “you know they're just gonna kill you when they're bored of you…” he hissed and walked up to you “especially with your attitude problem.”

Your eyes flashed with rage and you stood up, now you weren’t very tall in fact you were barely five three, but as you stood the taller man shrank under your gaze “you think so huh?” You chuckled “well, then. Clean up this damn mess, or you’ll be part of it.” You hissed and shoved him, he went fumbling backwards and tripped over a limp arm.

You turned on your heel and made a quick line for the door.

“Where are you going? You said you wouldn’t leave.”

“You know… my mentor told me that too… she also lied.” You chuckled cruelly before grabbing the doors and looking him in the eyes “Gianna will let you out within the hour, this room better be spotless.” You hummed before slamming the doors shut.

anyone else get through 2020 by getting into long past cancelled or completed tv shows? coping with showing up to the party years late by doing some holiday ficlet prompts...starting with my newest obsession:

↳ swamp thing + mistletoe

“Alec…”

“Hmm?”

The biologist in question didn’t look up from his microscope. It was nearly midnight in the lab and although the space heaters had mostly succeeded in disarming the bite of the December night air, the swamp’s humidity made it impossible to entirely shake off the chill.

Maybe that’s why Abby shivered a little as she watched him, eyes sweeping over his rumpled hair and furrowed brow. Their new research findings had them equal parts exhilarated and exhausted yet she relished the rare opportunity to look upon his face—to be able to read his emotions on human features, muted as they were by his fatigue.

They never knew how long these...hallucinations or whatever they were would last or even if they’d continue happening. And though she had grown used to, even fond of, his new form, there was something about coming face to face with someone you never thought you’d see again that had her openly staring longer than she’d allow herself with anyone else.

But then, Alec wasn’t like anyone else.

Case in point: the leafy branches newly thrust through the ceiling tile directly above their heads.

“Are you...um, did you mean to summon that?”

By the way he looked up in surprise, she guessed not. His dark eyes swept the lab before coming to rest on her questioningly.

She pointed up. The plant was fuller now, bright green oblong leaves sprouting on thin branches, accompanied by a white berry or two.

“Is that…” she began but the sight of Alec bashfully rubbing a hand across the back of his neck and was that—yes, blushing, confirmed her suspicions. The realization landed with an unexpected burst of delight. The feeling was so rare that she couldn’t help but wish to extend the moment. To excavate the source of her joy within him too.

For among other things, the green had given Alec the ability to call plants to him, producing them seemingly out of thin air. He had done it before, first to feed her, then to heal her—how had he described it? He had needed something, longed for it and through the green it had appeared.

She leaned back against the table and crossed her arms over her chest, trying not to smile as she squinted up at the ceiling. “Huh. What kind of plant is that? I thought holly only had red berries...”

He sent her a baleful look, but a smile was waiting underneath the surface. It bloomed as she bit her lip and let her gaze linger on his mouth.

Abby had been longing for something too.

He hesitated only a beat, then swiveled his stool in her direction, eyes bright with anticipation. “Careful, Abby. They’re going to kick you out of the Columbo fan club with rusty detective skills like that.”

She grinned and stepped closer, pleased when his arms unfurled to welcome her into his space. “A gift from the green?”

Alec frowned as he considered. “A parasitic plant with toxic berries? I don’t know if that’s—”

Abby laughed as she leaned down, interrupting him with a kiss. “Romantic?” she suggested framing his face with her hands.

Alec smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her down onto his lap. The soft look in his eyes made her heart twist in such a way she feared something between them had become permanently entwined.

“I’ve always thought so,” he murmured in agreement, before leaning in to kiss her once again.

If the winter night air didn’t seem quite so cold anymore, it was a good long while before either one of them noticed.
