Oliver Raschka The Odyssey of Youth
The captivating photographs of Oliver Raschka document the life of his two sons as they grow from infancy to teenage. His images of boyhood and early adolescence are deeply resonant yet tantalisingly uncertain. It is as if we recognise the scenes we see – the energy, the interaction, the quicksilver of emotion – and yet can only imagine how it might feel once more to be a child or begin the journey into adolescence. And it is this that gives these images their emotional pull. They ask us to enter the dance of memory and childhood once more; to feel the rhythm of the past even as the steps that might lead us back elude us. For Oliver Raschka does not frame the images according to an adult memory of childhood, but simply observes and records what comes to pass. And, in that transparency of intent, catches in the moment a glinting flash of that distant place of childhood from whence the odyssey of adolescence begins.
Oliver Raschka discusses the importance of unobtrusive observation at Talking Pictures.

Imma get my thoughts down real quick, might vent a little bit idk. You’re allowed to disagree, just be civil about it.
This is a YouTube comment I saw and honestly:
This is why I DON’T want adults to be casted as teenagers
Literally most teenagers are trying to hold onto whatever’s left of their childhood and want to have a bit of fun before they become adults. Because, as we’re told, being an adult is no fun. You have way more demanding responsibilities ( getting a job that pays well enough for food and rent, moving out on your own, expectations to be in a relationship and get engaged so you’re not single and a virgin by the time you’re 30, still trying to maintain friendships even though you’re flooded with work, etc. ) and are expected to do it all on your own and have your entire life planned out before you’re like 20, because if you don’t, people are like, “What the hell have you been doing? Being a kid? That’s so immature.”
And yeah, I get it. Teenagers are having sex and doing drugs/smoking, but it’s so over-exaggerated to the point where it’s almost inaccurate. Not to mention, it’s really a kinda small minority of youth who actually does this ( at least to me, I’ve hardly been around people my age who do this ). Just because it happens, that doesn’t mean that it’s okay.
I don’t care that it’s an adult actor/actress that got casted for the role, the problem is that they’re meant to PORTRAY TEENAGERS doing hard drugs, having wild and rough sex, and beating the shit out of each other because the plot of the show demands it.
And why are we trying to normalize teenagers doing explicit and harmful activities? Why are we showing that engaging in dangerous activities is completely okay and that there’s no consequences for your actions?
Idk, maybe we shouldn’t keep pushing this notion of promoting a culture of violence and sex appeal to influential adolescents
Maybe we should let kids be kids, and let them enjoy it

why do people who transitioned as full-on adults continue to speak on what they believe the laws should be regarding child/adolescent medical transition? like how fucking dense do you have to be to think it’s the same situation? if you didn’t MEDICALLY transition in that specific age range, when your mind is more amenable to any number of ideas about identity or personal philosophy (as you are still a child figuring yourself out) then you do not know what it’s like to have doctors more or less gaslighting you into pseudoscientific concepts that adults can understand more like metaphors…
this is the same way religion harms vulnerable young people when their brain’s capacity for weighing what is and is not realistic is just not developed and the real life experience has not yet been gained… you don’t understand metaphors and gender roles and playing pretend and facades yet… it’s all REAL to you at that age… i was told i had a MALE SOUL… trapped inside my inferior female body which needed to be FIXED in some way.
the older i get the more i realize that what a lot of adult transitioners are describing amounts more to deliberate aesthetic changes, which do create a higher level of comfort in the body and self-expression, this is why there seems to be a lower rate of regret for these types… versus gnc children who have not yet gotten past the age stage of cross-sex identification (which seems to be a common experience during the development of sexual identity for a pretty sizable cohort of the current generation of homosexuals who transition)… i think adult transitioners without childhood dysphoria have a better big-picture view of the changes they’re seeking, and it’s extremely unfair for them to pretend that youth who are attempting to convert themselves from gay boys to straight women or from butch lesbians to straight men are in the same mindset. i know i was not. it was religious for me. it was totally all-consuming.

okay but for real. yuri on ice was a huge deal for me, as i know it was for many others; one of the first queer love stories i'd ever seen in mainstream media as a baby gay, etc etc etc. and despite being heartbroken (tho not surprised) at the cancellation news for ice adolescence, that doesn't take away any of the good that the show brought to any of our lives, so try and remember that. see you next level <3

Adolescence of Utena makes the most sense to me as a sequel character development-wise. Like Ohtori is already this bizarro fairytale logic hell dimension and the duels are a repeating cycle, so I imagine that this time around we actually get to see Anthy have a lot more agency in being gay and doing crimes because she's already gone through all that character development.
Touga's movie backstory contextualizes why he's Like That
The car scene is completely necessary in that it offers a rebuttal to Akio's red car (this is probably also why he "loses his keys," he no longer has control of the narrative because his victims have taken it for themselves) and anyone who thinks it's "too out there" probably 1. Has not seen the rest of the fucking show and 2. Probably is That Kind Of JoJo Fan.
Shiori got More Homophobic
IDK what to make of the cow scene but I'm just going to choose to believe it symbolizes that Nanami got fed up with this bullshit and went to go get therapy at the end of the show and that's why she's not there. Good for her

Hi Alana! I saw you say abt going to uni in the uk but being Canadian or smth, are you in second year or third year of uni? I’m on my second gap year now (I’m indecisive and ended up picking the same thing I did two years ago) and applying for next sept for someplace in England or Dublin. Idk just curious but I get if you don’t wanna disclose anything and stuff so 🏃🏻‍♀️ period x
when i go back i'll be in my third year!! i've been planning what i wanted to do for school since i was 16 and i was gonna do three straight years of uni, graduate and then with the money i've saved go back to america and settle down there. i might have to stay in the uk a bit longer though because i've been set back financially 😭

// I'm doing some lore clean up with Avian since she's been going through a slurry of changes that is overlapping her old interpretation to new one now, so here's some fun facts abt her:
Avian has been privately homeschooled up to the age of 12-13; James hired a private tutor named Jonah to teach Avian everything and anything she was curious to know. James did this purposefully to help Avian better understand her autism, how she reacts to certain stimuli, and how she can cope with herself depending on the surroundings. Jonah being college educated in Psychology and being autistic himself assisted in her growing into herself a lot.
... Only for that to be regressed once she entered Middle School. Avian got into the private school system afterwards, due to Jonah following his dreams to be an educator in upper education. And because James couldn't trust others to give Avian the education she required, he ultimately had to send her to a private boarding school out of town. One he felt the education was up to par to where Avian deserves to be, and will set her up for success towards college.
This was a violent thrust into a new world/society that ultimately did not treat Avian well. She was an easy target for the kids who were going to this boarding school for years at this point, and she didn't fair well to the harassment all while she was trying to make friends.
Summer became her favorite season because of the connection of going back to her hometown and being with her father.
Her friend, Almyra, was the only one she knew at this school. And because of this, their bond grew closer as they were roommates and Almyra was the only one aware of Avian's neurodivergence. The two girls were a power duo throughout their adolescence & teen years.
Their friendship, albeit built slowly and steadily, ultimately blows up their Senior year when rumors about the two "Lesbians" started to float around their conservative boarding school. While Avian was coming to terms that she was in love with Almyra, Almyra ultimately self-destructs their friendship and ostracized her friend at the end.
Because of this devastating death of her one, true friendship, Avian's college years blurred by her, essentially having her work on autopilot only to make it through per her father's request. After her father's mysterious passing, however, is when Avian seems to snap out of the haze of trauma that followed her. Now, she's force to cope with the aftermath alone.

Currently watching Ai Long Nhai and something about Chen Nhai being an absolute airhead is keeping me glued to the series even with its horrible subs.
I am loving this trend of dumb himbo main characters that needs to be pampered at all times.
Yes, im talking about Rain from LITA too
