How is there a reality show where Alan Cumming is basically a campy, eccentric, absurdly well dressed, murderous laird of a Scottish castle who gets to torment reality TV stars, and no one told me about it before? What are we even here for, Tumblr, if not to share information like this?

I don't care about reality television much but I've been watching this show called The Traitors where a bunch of people live in a Scottish castle and try to figure out who among them are traitors that are murdering the others and like it's honestly mid at best (neat concept, uneven execution) but one part that is absolutely 10/10 no notes is that it's being hosted by Alan Cumming at his absolute campiest it's incredible.

He had an interview on Late Night where he talked about how shooting it was his favourite part of 2022 b/c he just got to be campy and start drama, and at first he was skeptical about playing himself, but then realized he was actually playing a character b/c he keeps referring to the castle as "my castle", which it obviously isn't actually (but should be) and just had fun with it.

He's just devouring the scenery every second he's on camera it's spectacular and absolutely wasted by just being the wrap arounds on a reality show.

Also b/c it's Alan Cumming, his wardrobe is absolutely bonkers (and apparently was mostly made up of his own clothing):

(NYT even wrote an article just about how great his wardrobe on the show is).

Another big waste is the Addams Family-esque set design around the castle, b/c they went hard. There's this one bit in particular where they have a run down old timey fun fair that's just like, so delightfully creepy. I can't find any pictures but I'm sure they're out there.

Basically, what I'm trying to get at here is that I just want a show about this camp Cryptkeeper trying to run his little haunted Scottish castle.

Maybe it's an Addams Family/WTNV type deal where people are freaked out by him/the castle but he has no idea b/c this is all normal to him. Maybe it's a bed and breakfast (dead and breakfast?) where there's new guests every week along with a new adventure/problem to solve/whatever.

I just think the incredible concept of "Alan Cumming is gay in his little creepy castle" is being wasted here, and we need to refocus on what's important!
