HAPPY NEW YEAR ANON 🫶🫶🫶 I hope you are well, and I hope you are experiencing a lot of (safe!) merriment with yourself and your loved ones.

2023 has been an interesting year that I'm more than glad to leave behind. I came into 2023 unsure of myself and who I wanted to be as a college student, person, and writer. I thought I wanted to give up writing, but I realized that I adored writing and heavily disliked a heavy editing and release schedule 🥲 I switched majors and then started to feel happy in my college studies during 2023, which was a plus. I rediscovered myself through my romantic preferences and interests, and it reflects heavily in my writing (which I am so, so proud of).

But the one thing I'm grateful for, above all, in 2023 was the amazing support I received from all of my friends and followers (my pearls 🫶) on this blog. In no specific order:

@neon-city-dreams for being supportive of me and always being an ear to talk to whenever times get rough and I need someone to rant to

@kingmaker-a for being a great person to talk to about writing and life in general (the coolest boomer btw 😎)

How I feel about this character : I LOVE HIM

HE IS MY BABY

And to be more articulate, I just love his character, and even tho I am the one who created drama for his backstory, Bela's acting is just perfect to make me go apeshit XD I just love him, ya know. His chara-design is really simple, but so effective ! I just love him. You already knew. BUT I'M STILL SAYING IT

All the people I ship romantically with this character : None.

He doesn't strike me as a person who would get involved romantically XD He is too obsessed with his puzzle to be interested in this kind of human interaction.

My non-romantic OTP for this character : Tscherne

That's just because I have plans for a cross-over One-Shot with both Puzzle Punk and Tscherne... So yeah. Non-romantic? Definitively these two XD

My unpopular opinion about this character : I don't think I have one?

Like he is not a character who is triggering lots of debates in the fandom, so I don't think my opinions on him would be unpopular... I can't think of an opinion that might be unpopular? Outside of me unironically loving him 😂😂😂😂 Oh, maybe that I can see Puzzle Punk being an alternative version of Tscherne if he didn't strive to survive and spiraled in his mental struggles. Oh, maybe that I headcanon Puzzle Punk as psychotic? That can be an unpopular opinion 🤔🤔🤔🤔

One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon : See more of his childhood

And how he BECAME this serial killer we all know. I wanna know how he became Puzzle Punk, how a perfectly harmless hobby came to be so ravenous that he ended seeing other human beings being pieces of an abstract and intricate puzzle. I think that the short movie can be a metaphor of his relationship with mankind, that every interaction is the piece of a complex puzzle and that he can't see any interact outside of this point of view, outside of this whole "I need to move the pieces so they can fit with this person" whenever he talks to them.

Also, I don't know what kind nor how, but drama. I love drama so much, I wanna see him involved in drama, but I don't know how XD

My OTP : Again, no one.

My cross-over ship : it's not really a ship, BUT

As I said in some of our previous conversations, I tend to see Puzzle Punk and Tscherne as cinematic parallels, Puzzle Punk being what could have happened to Tscherne, so I tend to connect these two together even tho they have NOTHING in common XD

A headcanon fact : I'll try giving one that I didn't already discuss with you XD

I know I already discussed the fact that I think Puzzle Punk is smaller than Bela, I headcanon him as being one of the smallest Bela characters, and I think it is a feature that he doesn't like. As I said, he doesn't proceed interactions with other humans normally, so I don't think he is bitter about it or make it a big deal, but it would feel like being a runt, the smallest child of the family (had he had one). Thematically, I associate Puzzle Punk with birds, and little sparrows, and I nickname him the broken sparrow, so I headcanon him having a broken appreciation of his body. Yeah, that's more like it. He doesn't feel bitter or rejected or anything, he just has a broken appreciation of his body.

Hello! How are you all? I am rather new to the fandom. I have recently watched all the films and grown inlove with the story and the characters! I was a bit behind on the hype, obviously! However, I thought I'd shoot my shot and see if maybe this fandom isn't completely dead! I am currently Hunting for a Mister Captian Jack Sparrow to pair against my OC! I am also totally Okay with OCxOC pairings, I am just picky as I have been role playing for about 7 years and been writing the novel for my OC who I plan to use for about 3 years. (A lot of reststying unfortunately, never happy with it lol!) I've noticed most CC role players do a great job at capturing the character hense my preference! But if you can provide me a good OC I'd be more than happy to role play! (I swear that sounded mean...)

Since I am new I am yet to write up my OC's wiki along with my rules. I do, of course have details and such I am happy to discuss!!! Plot wise I am rather rung dry, so I'm open to any ideas! I tend to love building plot together, ones that focus on both characters and not just one.

2. Did you reread anything? What? — Oh absolutely, I’m a chronic rereader! Among other things, I reread all of Ursula K. LeGuin’s Hainish novels and stories (thank u public library for having the library of congress collections) in two weeks while I was subbing middle school full time, which definitely got me through some looong days. I love moving through those collections chronologically and seeing LeGuin’s development as a writer. Also definitely reread a bunch of K. J. Charles this year, like every year.

3. What were your top five books of the year? — Damn, hard question. I think Shane McCrae’s collections The Gilded Auction Block and Cain Named the Animal both get to be here for sure, I’ve been obsessed with them since I read them. Nona the Ninth somehow managed to live up to the hype, a remarkable feat considering its predecessors. The Sparrow was harrowing but very beautiful, great use of sci-fi tools for a character drama. Aaaand Kevin Young’s Jelly Roll is just a crazy good collection of love poems.

6. Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to? — I started my masters this fall so I am beset on all sides with good recommendations that I never got around to reading lol. My big ones that I want to get to in the new year are Obits by Victoria Chang, The Book of Hours by Kevin Young, and The Family is a House by Dustin Pearson.

Writing and Reading Update

Good afternoon, it’s hot and gross and the AQI is disgusting. It smells like smoke outside and even with my air purifier going, I have to stop and catch my breath doing...pretty much anything. I tidied up some and was gasping for breath and sweating, and I hate this so, so much.

(I got a slow cooker/air fryer and I’m pretty much willing autumn into existence by doing a slow cooked soup today. Also I air-fried some turnips last night and HOLY SHIT I GET THE HYPE. Air fryers are amazing!!)

Anyway, we’re finally due rain on Friday, and I really, really hope we get it, I hate smoke season.

Writing

Casts and Cuddles: Whumptober 2022 : still flowing along! I think I’ll have a few missed days at the end of the month just because I’m tired, and my brain isn’t work bc smoke, but I also have...a lot of stories I want to continue. Like, you have not even seen all of them yet. (I am v excited for a winter full of writing.)

Reading

I finished Nettle & Bone, which is a perfectly good horror/adventure story, and now all I want is 150k *minimum* friends-to-lovers story about Agnes and Lady Fox. Marra is...fine. I think I might be too old to identify with her. However, I would die for Agnes and her chickens.

I’m DNF for Silhouette of a Sparrow which I wanted to like, but was way too didactic. It’s possible to write YA without explaining every single thing about an historical setting, or dumbing it down :/

there is so much cool media that my peers now consider cool i was into when I was 13 and everyone thought I was an oddball for and it's not even something intense or niche it's very basic and mainstream but the context is I was in india so basically I discovered these channels like comedy central and hbo on indian television and people didn't used to watch them but I randomly started watching them and cause my mom was working in the american embassy she kinda encouraged me watching english shows so apparently I watched friends and superstore and brooklyn 99 and movies like the black swan the perks of being a wallflower jump street transformers etc etc when no one knew about it and started listening to melanie martinez and halsey and reading harry potter and mortal instruments then after 2 years cool kids are suddenly super into english shit and am like over all this also it's so funny I always tell everyone that when I moved here at 15 it was bad cause like while people my age back in india all listened to one direction and taylor swift and watched all these english movies I listened to hindi songs and wasnt into foreign culture and while everyone was excited to see west I was like not too interested cause that is what everyone said happened but actually I remembered like just 4 5 days ago that that's not true when I moved i was full into YA novels i remembered I had this funny relationship with this semi popular girl where we bonded over being crazy over some white guys she really loved the one direction guys and I was in love with johnny depp at the time but while almost everyone know about the band no one fucking knew johnny depp by name a lot of the time they would know who I was talking about when I said jack sparrow but for a long time a lot of people didn't and no one was interested in tim burton movies with me but the thing is after I left school and was home 6 months I was very depressed and kinda stopped being too much into the stuff i used to be into and kinda forgot about it all? my memory is so fucking shit I like forgot that I had watched superstore and friends and all these shows like 4 5 times over and over I just forgot lol came here and was like naw I never watched Brooklyn 99 haha what is that and then when my friends sat me down for it I was like waaaaait I have watched this i can tell u what happens minute by minute lol but I was really into all this white shit I just was never at the time it was hyped and that always made me an additional oddball over being a nerd n tomboy

Whatever form it might takes, I hope we can sorta see him in some different settings/dynamics. Like maybe an arc that deals more with his emotions/trauma or even just getting to see him do something fun that isn’t life or death. He hasn’t really been able to do those things so I hope we see something like that this season 🤞

I really want to see Ben’s room

I know that seems like kind of an odd hope but we’ve never seen his room and I wanna see how he has it decorated and then go over it with a fine-tooth comb and make headcanons about his interests 🤣

I hope we see everyone continue to develop their powers.

I feel like there’s definitely still room to develop them! Like obviously Klaus still has abilities to unlock, which I really wanna see, but I think the others have room for development and exploration. Like Allison, I would love to see her sorta get to a point where she’s at peace with her rumors and possibly even explore the reality-altering aspects of them. And Diego, just how powerful is his projectile manipulation and can he actually breathe underwater?? Then there’s Luther, I mean his powers have had almost no exploration. He’s strong and he’s durable but is there anything else to it than that? Just how fast is his metabolism? What was his physiology like before the accident? Luther definitely deserves some development lol. And then there’s Lila, I feel like there’s still more to learn about her powers and some stuff that could be clarified, so I hope we see some of that.

As for my fears, honestly they mostly have to do with the Sparrows and how the show will handle them. I think my biggest one is—

Sparrow Ben

I’m so excited to have a living Ben but I’m also so scared. We really got very very little development for our Ben over the past two seasons and almost all the development he got was tied in with Klaus somehow because that was his tether. I really want to see more of his character and his powers but...this is sparrow Ben. I guess I just really hope they don’t mess up his character. It’s always sort of been a pet peeve of mine when they do this sort of thing with a character. Plus...like...I personally don’t really wanna see Ben have a new family?? I just want him to be with the umbrellas. But, that being said I am still hopeful that this whole thing is for his overall development and that they’ll do right by him.

The Sparrows

Honestly I’m just really nervous about the sparrows. I’m feeling the sparrow panic lol. Ultimately I guess I just hope they don’t try to do too much with them and it ends up overcrowding the season and impacting the main characters’ development. The sparrows are an interesting concept but I’m personally here for the umbrellas so I hope the show doesn’t lean too heavily into the ‘new team/family’ idea.

also, the mugen train arc was also turned into episodes. essentially s2 was split into 2 parts. part 1 is the mugen train movie recap, part 2 is the actual new season.

they put the movie into episode format because not everyone could see the movie, but its the same stuff. except the first episode is bonus a bonus episode that isnt in the movie with rengoku to get to know his character.

so essentially, s2: 1. s2 mugen train, episode 1 2. mugen train in movie or episode format (i recommend movie format) 3. actual next arc s2 entertainment district

ALSO. there after credits scenes in the episodes, some of them are just silly goofs while others are actually. well, impactful to the characters id say and lets us understand them more. so i defo recommend those.

AND IVE HEARD SO MANY GOOD THINGS ABT S2 AND THE TRAIN ARC !!!!! i saw charlie moistcritical rate s2 95% on the moist meter like thats insanely good. im so fawking excited to understand the hype AHHHHHHH !!! AND OMG YEAH the art style and animation in s1 is so so cool i esp love the style of the thick/emphasized outlines AND THE FIGHT SCENESSSSS OMGGGGG i usually dont care for fight scenes but the ones in demon slayer are GAURGEOUS and when (SPOILER WARNING FOR ANYONE READING) he attempts to slide rui’s head off and theres all that orange fire, nezukos pinkish explosions and just all that COLOUR ….. i was seriously in awe it was incredible i cant believe it gets even BETTER ….. so exciting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK SO MY FAVS SO FAR: at the top of the list (unsurprisingly) ITS TANJIRO MY SWEET BOY AND SHINING STAR 😭🌟 im sorry i just have so much love in my heart for kindhearted, genuine characters and thats the core of who he is and he makes my heart so warm and soppy and the world both deserves him but also doesnt and hes just so oo o oo o ….. My tanjirogie 😞💚 ANOTHER FAV OF MINE IS ZENITSU! i love his crybabyisms and think hes such a nice mix of sweet and annoying and i always look forward to him being on screen :))) and hes definitely the character im most excited to see the progress of 100%. i also love his lil sparrow such a tiny lil guy eueueueu 😞🤍 also this isnt a specific character but i loved so many of the demons tanjiro faces and fights and i cried so so much watching s1 bc of their deaths. even ones i thought wouldnt get to me bc of their cruelties did and i just ended up sobbing hearing their stories bc its like tanjiro said, theyre such sad and hopeless beings and so often just victims to either circumstance or life as a whole and its just. god. theyre just so heartbreaking and getting to hear their backstories/getting glimpses of them at the end of every fight where they lost and were dying was one of if not my favourite part of the show. anyways because i am hateful here are some characters i hate (not bc theyre poorly written i just am bitter) FIRSTLY: the hashira can go fuck themselves 😒🖕 (shinobu and giyu are excluded from this my scrumblies) i hate their pretentiousness, i hate how they hurt nezuko and i hate how they are all major dicks despite their entire thing being to help people. SECONDLY: fuck muzan! i actually love his character and hes such an amazing villain but i burn with so much hatred towards him it isnt even funny i seriously want his head on a fawking sick 𝖍𝖊 𝖓𝖊𝖊𝖉𝖘 𝖙𝖔 𝖐𝖎𝖑𝖑 𝖍𝖎𝖒𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖋 𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝕹𝕰𝕺𝖂 . but he also kind of slays and every time hes on screen my eyes are glued hes suchhhh a good villain from the untouchability to the sometimes soft, often violent carefully crafted manipulation Hes Perfect. like i hate him but hes also amazing and one of the big reasons i love the story so much. speaking of the story, I LOVE IT SM! i havent spoken much about it yet but nezuko and tanjiro’s relationship means so much to me and i love getting to see them grow and having to relearn how to get to normal but also how nothing between them has changed at all, and how they love each other the exact same amount and way from then and how theyd always do anything to protect one another. its so so sweet to watch and an incredible motivation for the plot bc i am rooting for them so much too as the viewer not only because the characters themselves are so incredibly loveable and kind (bc they are) but also because its so Believable considering the world they live in and the character building of those two. tanjiro cares about her so much, lost everyone he loved to the guy who also turned his sister this way, and is so genuinely warmhearted like it just makes so much sense why he does all of this and i never blamed him for a moment why he pursues such a daunting goal. because it always, ALWAYS seems worth it. it always does. and making it so ur viewer understands the point and motivations of the mc and plot, now thats good storytelling! When they say it only takes one time they mean that. In no way shape or form were you a heavy drinker or drug user. But it was your birthday, and your friends wanted to take you out on a fun night. Of course they couldn’t pick a regular little bar, they decided on some crazy rave spot that was technically illegal. 

“Come on it’ll be a great time, you’ve barely even been to a bar. This is gonna be a once in a lifetime experience.” Y/F/N1 chased you around your little apartment as you refused to get ready. 

“Oh it’ll be once in a lifetime alright, she will never go back.” Y/F/N2 commented as she walked into the room putting bracelets up her arm.

“Yknow we are trying to convince her to go, not convince her to never hang out with us again.” Y/F/N1 smacked Y/F/N2 on the arm lightly. 

“Wait, I like her point. Lets make a deal. If I go tonight promise me I will never have to any crazy shit ever again.” You turned to face them both with a light smile and one eyebrow slightly raised. 

They turned to look at each other and then back at you. Clearly they would do anything to get you out of the house and out to their little rave because they both agreed to the deal. Not really knowing how to get ready the girls dragged you into your bedroom. The two of them dug through all your drawers that were full of random clothes that were not fit for the occasion. 

“You are not giving us much to work with.” Y/F/N1 stated as she began going through the closet. 

“Wait I’ve found something we can use.” She took a small black sparkly bra out of your underwear drawer. 

“Excuse me but that is not clothes that is a bra. I cannot just go outside with a bra on.” You told Y/F/N1 as she held it up to your chest. She was laughing at you for what you had said. 

“We can stop by my place and a mesh top to put over it.” Y/F/N2 spoke up as she held some little black shorts in her hand. 

Before you could ever protest what was going on you were being dragged out the door. You stumbled around quickly, neither girl was allowing you to slow down or think. They knew that you’d change your mind or simply get out of going. You got in the passenger side of the car and buckled your seatbelt. You could barely shut the door and get it together before Y/F/N2 hit the gas. You were driving so fast with a lead foot that you were almost positive the car was going to get pulled over. You wished it would’ve because the closer you got to having to wear a bra and shorts in crowded public the place the more anxiety bubbled in your stomach. The car parked in a made up parking place considering how outside the lines it was. 

“I’ll be right back.” Y/F/N2 ran out and locked the car. She was quickly in and out. When she stepped back in the car from getting the mesh top she threw it at you. 

“NO. No wat am I wearing this.” You looked at the mesh shirt, it wasn’t even really mesh. It was just see-through, you could clearly see the fact that your bra was going to be seen vibrantly. 

“Oh cmon, one night and never again. We have a deal.” Y/F/N1 patted you on the shoulder from the back seat of the car. She was topless and changing in the car. 

You took in a deep breath realizing that your options to change were in a dirty restroom or the front of a moving vehicle. So, you changed into the incredibly revealing outfit and your friends began to hype you up. When you pulled up to wherever this odd location was and saw some of the most creative looking people. Y/F/N2 changed outside the car without a care in the world. You knew your friends were wild but this wild. No way. Y/F/N1 grabbed your hand noticing the deer in the headlights look you had plastered on your face. She and Y/F/N2 led you to the door and you walked down the dirty stairs with walls covered in graffiti. 

“Here we are.” Y/F/N2 screamed as she opened the door. The music that blasted through the room was incredibly loud. Smoke, blinding lights, and more loud noises completely filled the room. You realized that you could barely even see anyone, so no one would notice you or what you were wearing. Your nerves let go a bit, but still not much. Your friends got drinks and brought them over, the three of you were drinking a lot. You did it for nerves, they did it for fun. Eventually all three of you were drunk, separated and drunk. You of course were stumbling around, not as used to being drunk as the other two girls. And you tripped around and fell into a complete stranger. A beautiful stranger that you would not remember, and you spent the remainder of the time with him until your friends were ready to go. You remember having lovely conversations and dancing together a bit. You also remember the way he was and how wild yet caring he was.  Anything other than that was a complete mystery...

“So you really think we did it this time?” Luther spoke up holding a box full of books in his hands. They were from his fathers office that he, Diego, and Klaus were searching through while the others ran around making sure everywhere else was normal.

“So far everything seems normal, but we haven’t seen enough or done much else. Then again we’re the morons apparently so we wouldn’t know even if we did look.” Diego threw an empty bag across the room, moving around some of the belongings that were from his fathers childhood.

“Oh dear old dad is still just as boring dead as he was alive.” Klaus sat with his legs and feet propped up on the desk as he looked through a box of fly papers that took him forever to get the small lock off of. 

“You can say that again.” Diego agreed with his brother as he too continued to go through small chests and boxes that had been left around the room.

The three boys continued to through papers, files, boxes, bags, and other weird little contraptions. All boring, mostly of friends he had, deals he had made, knick-knacks from being alive so long, projects he never got to finish, diaries of so many different genres, and receipts for literally everything. That was until Klaus came across a file with his name printed on it in bold. 

“Hey look dad was keeping tabs on you.” Luther stood behind him and read the date on the file, seeing it wasn’t from his childhood and was from his adulthood. 

“Probably just some rehab file he kept to hate me and call me a disappointment for.” Klaus opened it and saw his picture, it was a stapled multi piece of information. The longer he read on the more he noticed it had nothing to do with drugs. It was simply just his DNA and medical things along those lines. Then he turned the page, and his eyes popped out of his head. He read the word “Monroe” and right next to it were multiple pictures of a little girl. Not a very old one at that, all of these were baby pictures. Nervously he read on more and more, he flipped back and forth between the two pages seeing that their were multiple, hell more than multiple similarities. It took a few more minutes but he finally realized that was his kid...
