I love earth 65 so much, all of the character designs slap! Like we've all seen Gwen but here are a few others that I think are awesome.
Gonna start with gwenom
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
This legit might be one of the best if not the best symbiote spider design, the tongue working as sort of a fifth limb, depending on the artist the hood changes from a white outline to venoms teeth. She has claws that put Miguels to shame, she also permanently has the claws out, which the normal symbiote spider man suit does not which is cool. I love how it looks like she has a biker jacket on, she's also very spikey which is fun.
Next is green goblin
Tumblr media
I honestly love this green goblin look, even if he doesn't appear for long in the comic. With Harry having shield training it makes sense for the goblin suit to act as armor instead of a costume. Also his little goblin robots are fun. The goblin feels quite serious in earth 65 which makes sense because his one goal was to kill spider woman.
Up next we have dazzler
Tumblr media
I don't know much about dazzler, but I'm very much enjoying her in the new comic. I think her look is quite similar to how she looks in other worlds I'm just including it because she looks nice in the art style.
Then we have mj carnage
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love mj carnage shes so fun, I definitely prefer how she's drawn in the new comics then to how she was in Gwenom vs carnage. The jaws a bit off putting but it is carnage so I can look past it, the hair looks great and the additional blue and yellow stripes are cool I want to see more of her.
And the newest addition to the earth 65 roster is Orlando octavius aka doc ock
Tumblr media
I mean the coat slays, I like how the collar frills up. The yellow on the coat is really pretty. And I love the take on his mechanical arms, he's absolutely serving right now.

Ohh I see! I’ve just read the Athena one and it’s awesome! Uhmmm could u do the ephestus one next? Is he a main one? Idk tbh. Cause i don’t wanna like request Eros who’s minor cause yk ur order and sum but ephestus would be fun! (Sorry if the name’s wrong… I ain’t English native an dim not sure about the spelling, sorry). Have a lovely day and again: love the Athena cabin!❤️‍🔥
⇢ ˗ˏˋ hephaestus cabin headcanons ࿐ྂ
hi!! i think you meant hephaestus, and of course i can do that! if you want to request eros or any other minor god, go for it! and thank you so much for the love on the athena cabin hcs, they were so much fun! have a great day, and thank you for the request love! <333
so hephaestus kids are cool but kinda chaotic
their minds run a mile a minute
they always have new ideas for things to make on their mind, and things to invent
they just always have a lot of ideas
hephaestus kids do very good in prank wars, because they're very good at rigging up things like buckets of water falling on you when you open a door
another one of their favorite pranks is putting a mento in the cap of a coke and then attaching a string, so that when you open it, the mento falls into the coke and does the foamy thing
so moral of the story, if you can, avoid getting into a prank war with a hephaestus kid
hephaestus kids also come up with the best nicknames for people
a hephaestus kid will spend some time with you, gauge your personality and the things you do, and then they give you a nickname
it's rarely ever a malicious one (or you're a mean person, then you get a bad nickname), it's usually one that fits you that you actually really like
so in my athena cabin hcs i said that they expanded the arts and crafts area, and yes, athena kids are the ones who frequent this area the most, but you'd better believe hephaestus kids are hanging around there as well
they love making things with their hands, and even though they specialize when it comes to mechanical things and working with metal, every one in a while they want to make a pipe cleaner butterfly
beckendorf was really good at origami butterflies
so after they died, everyone made an origami butterfly, and they put a framed picture of him up on the wall, and then surrounded it with origami butterflies (rip)
anyways, moving on
the hephaestus cabin is always just about a bajillion degrees
IT IS ALWAYS SO HOT IN THERE
and even though not all hephaestus kids have the fire power that leo does, they are all less susceptible to heat
i mean, they have to be around heat a lot when they're forging weapons, so naturally, it doesn't affect them as much as it affects others
literally, if you have a friend and the two of you want to hangout, you will literally never be hanging out in the hephaestus cabin, because you will literally melt
(not literally, but you'll just be sweating like a pig the whole time)
hephaestus kids also always make the best marshmallows at the campfire
i mean, come on
they forge amazing weapons, and work with fire on practically a daily basis, of course they roast the perfect marshmallow
if you have a very specific amount of roasted-ness in mind, just tell a hephaestus kid, and there you go, your perfect mallow
the hephaestus cabin also has quite a few retro items, such as cd players and record players
but they're not... exactly like they should be
hephaestus kids like to take these older items and make them more usable and modern
so there are some funky looking record players in the hephaestus cabin
they just like experimenting on things like that
the hephaestus kids also set up a sort of PA system for the camp
this was sanctioned by chiron, but they don't really listen to what he says about it
they play a lot of music, and yes, they do announce things, but there's often some comedy thrown in there
hephaestus kids are actually really funny
like they could honestly be full on comedians
they just have a sort of dry sense of humor, and really good timing, which is like half of being funny
hephaestus kids are also all really close
like when you're a hephaestus kid, your best friends are your siblings that you live with in your cabin
there are always a few typical older siblings that are the oldest in the cabin, usually the head camper of that cabin and a few others that you always know you can go to when you need it
hephaestus kids are also have the least drama
i mean, camp half-blood is filled with teenagers going through puberty, having first crushes and first relationships, that kinda stuff
of course there's gonna be drama
the hephaestus kids just somehow have less
this is partially because they always find themselves focused on things other than who kissed who and who cheated on who and why they did what
they have armor and weapons to make, dude, they can't be focused on that
that's not to say that there isn't drama with hephaestus kids, it's just a lot less common
and whenever you hear something regarding a hephaestus kid in drama, you kinda are taken aback and are like... wait what?
most hephaestus kids' love language is gift giving, and that mostly consists of things made by said hephaestus kid
like, oh you mentioned you wanted to start wearing rings more?
for your birthday, you find a package of like fifty, all different and interesting and unique, with perfect craftsmanship with the name of a hephaestus kid on it
sometimes they collaborate with the hecate kids to put crystals in the jewelry they make (because of course they make jewelry
hephaestus kids are almost never seen not wearing at least one piece of jewelry, made by themselves or their siblings
one head camper of hephaestus cabin like a decade ago taught themselves how to give piercings, and now every head hephaestus camper knows how to give piercings
obviously no hephaestus kid is forced to get a piercing, but most of them are
most of them have their ears pierced at the very least, but it's not uncommon to see a few people with snake bites floating around
chiron, the most innocent ever, has no idea where people are getting pierced, and has asked around, but nobody wants to rat out hephaestus cabin, because it's really convenient
idk i kinda imagine hephaestus kids as a little bit alt
that's all i have for hephaestus cabin headcanons! this was honestly a little bit difficult for me, and honestly i cannot tell you why. i do think these are all pretty good headcanons though, and just because it was kinda hard doesn't mean i didn't love it! (that's what she said) these were really fun, and i can't wait to get to work on the other cabin hcs i have sitting in my requests! thanks so much for reading, i love you all!! <3333

hot take: the bosses in super paper mario permanently damaged any chance of the game ever getting rpg mechanics, it would make the rpg mechanics feel cheap and the bosses feel boring, especially super dimentio
abandoning the flippage and making the game be fully 3d like sm64 would be a good move though
Super Paper Mario stands out in the Paper Mario games especially because of the fact that the bosses aren't turn based. The fact that they mixed RPG and platformer elements was interesting, in the end some of them hit while some miss.
The bossess definitely have quite a lot of charm from being in full motion and not locked to turns, you get to see personality through movement like O'Chunks being a little slow to react, Dimentio and Mr.L being hard to catch and Bleck taking advantage of the background. A few that especially benefit are: Fracktails entire battle, Mimi climbing the ceiling midfight (and also her and Dimentio being able to flip after you), Brobot L-type or even Super Dimentio like you mentioned.
Despite this I have to admit that some fights might feel underwhelming gameplay wise. Getting personality is awesome but if it's at the expense of difficulty or unfun mechanics then it might be better to not push it. Especially with the problem of BIG open spaces. Chapter 4-4 boss room is super open and super empty which feels a little anticlimactic while Mimis boss room is super small and has little wiggle room. Mimi was in fact harder than Mr.L just because of the fact i couldn't jump or evade her as easily.
This doesn't mean that everything should be crammed into a small area but it is a little cheesy seeing the AI struggle to attack you in the few ways it can. (again with Mr.L, he makes mighty leaps in this large room and with how slow he descends and predictable the landing spot is you can just. walk under.)
When it comes to making it 3D sm64 style it would be conceptually interesting but personally? I think it should remain paper style. A story like this would be difficult and very time consuming to execute in the mainline 3D Super Mario style, especially considering the time it released in. The main focus here was clearly the lore and dialogue which a lot of people agree is the best thing about it. It's cut like a story book, which ties with being Paper Mario, and the idea that these characters are already doomed by the narrative.
But that's an entirely different discussion so I won't delve deeper or else we'll be here much longer.
If I could personally offer any changes to SPM it would be:
The timer on the FLIP ability sucks, either extend or remove completely. I want to see all these beautiful assets and bosses in 3D which are already fully programed but the timer is actively discouraging me from doing so because of the damage penalty. "Mario is getting nauseous that's why he can't stay there long" is a cool in-universe explanation but it's not fun gameplay wise.
Personal design nitpick but some areas could use some retouches. What do you mean you associated the colour of the Pure Heart to the worlds palette only in 4 Chapters? What about the rest? Please keep going!!
Increase the difficulty a little (aka make the AI somewhat smarter). Personality and struggle is what makes a character memorable in games. (really big detour but for example take Malenia from Elden Ring, she has lore that is optional to learn and yet theres a big chance you'll remember her anyway because she's a super hard boss)
This ones more of a 'what if' but I've been trying to imagine for a while the possibility of: normally everything is 3D/with depth like the other Paper Mario games and when you FLIP it becomes 2D (basically reversing the effect). I know this ruins Fracktail and would require more work with sculpting the environments but I like the thought of the hub being 3D. If not that at least add more assets to the environment when you flip. A lot of the time every tree and rock is in 2D while 3D is just so empty. Also consider just for a moment how little people FLIP during bosses and areas, probably forgetting they even can, and missing out on these cool models. Either that or they're aware that when they do FLIP they won't see anything because the cameras obscured by a wall (looking at you chapter 4).
In conclusion I think this take has stable ground and in the end I agree to an extent! There are some rather specific cases that I feel would work better in a turn based system but overall a lot of them are good as they are!
Making the game like sm64 sounds fun but could be difficult to execute without loosing any of the beautiful charm the Paper Mario format/style provides to it's stories.

31DOD Day 6
The only way to go here is escrima sticks! Specifically, the way Dick Grayson throws them around. Nothing is cooler than making a bad ass bank shot and then breaking someone's jaw.
Let's look at some escrima sticks greatest hits:
Batman (2016) #54
Tumblr media
My man has arms strong enough to make this thing bounce this many times and the applied geometry skills to make a bank shot like this possible.
2. Nightwing (2016) #48
Tumblr media
Another awesome thing about the escrima sticks is that they make for some pretty cool page layouts. It's always fun when the when objects move between panels.
3. Nightwing (1996) #103
Tumblr media
There has also been a number of instances of him using them to fend off animals as large as this dude! I love Dick Grayson working with large animals. One thing I would love to see is some equestrian gymnastics (but that may be because I had a weird phase where I was researching that).
4. Eskrima/Kali from the Human Weapons Docuseries
youtube
The whole episode used to be on youtube and I watched it many many years ago. Learning about the basic mechanics and culture was interesting! Not a perfect episode, but a good introduction. There are some longer movies out there as well that delve more into the history which is also very cool.
Any other cool bank shots I'm missing? There was definitely some I couldn't track down during Dick's emo phase where he ran off to the circus between being robin and nightwing. I think it was in the one of the ntt issues?
Tumblr media
Nightwing (2016) #78
Gotta say, I don't love the jump line coming out of the stick. I don't see having that rope between the fingers being comfortable or safe or easy to balance. It wouldn't be so bad if the wasn't so many gadgets packed into the sticks. They do everything! and im not really here for it. They should be deadly bludgeoning weapons and all that fine machinery on the insides should not be used for bludgeoning. I miss the gauntlet secret pockets.

Asking ab storyshift here, I think it’s such a cool idea and you seem to have visualized the settings very well!!! Do you have any specific ideas for the designs of the characters, or even just things that you would/wouldn’t keep from their original designs?
Thanks for the ask! I do indeed have character visual changes in mind! (Also, don't wanna be that guy, but the AU is called SequenceShift).
Ceroba
When it comes to the Empress herself, she wears a black mourning Kimono, which she's had on since Kanako's passing. She did wear a lot more colorful outfits before that, however, and she did wear her signature red and white yukata in more casual settings.
Tumblr media
During her boss fight (she's fought on all three routes), she trades it out for a set of Samurai-style armor (Undyne and the rest of the Honor Guard wear similar outfits, albeit not as fancy as the Empress's)
Tumblr media
Along with that, she weilds a naginata, which I thought would be a good balance between her canonical staff and Asgore's trident.
Tumblr media
Chujin
Chujin is roughly the same when out in the Remnants, wearing his trademark green kimono. At home, he's got the whole divorce fit. Bathrobe, PJ pants, slippers, ect. He's taking care of himself, of course, he's just not super active these days. During his fight, he wears a gauntlet-based device (yes, based off of the Ben 10 Omnitrix) that amplifies his lightning attacks.
Starlo (and the Feisty Five in general)
When it comes to the Royal Rangers, I was thinking of having them wear something along the lines of the NCR Veteran Ranger armor from New Vegas, the coat over armor kinda thing.
Tumblr media
While they are a bit more uniform in Sequence Shift, they all wear custom elements with their armor sets. For example, Starlo still wears his poncho, Ed ripped off the sleeves of his outfit, Ace and Mooch still have their scarves, all of 'em keep their canon hats, ect.
They also all have different outfits which they wear off-duty (and during their reunion), but we only got Moray so far: they wear a zipperless hoodie (with the hood up) and jeans. My BF really wanted to see Moray in a hoodie so there, hehe. Also, Mooch dual wields a dagger and sawed-off shotgun in this AU (you'll only see the later on a Vengeance run tho).
Martlet
I don't have any photos of it, but since Martlet's more of a hand-on engineering scientist, she wears more of a mechanic outfit than. Something sturdy and protect, since we all know this girl failure is very much prone to hurting herself and that isn't any different in SS. And goggles, those are important, too. Also, since I am very much a fan of the amputee Martlet headcanon, she's one here, too. She's got a set of fancy metal prosthetic legs that she built with the help of Chujin.
Axis
Axis's base form is pretty identical to how he is in canon. His EX form is where it gets a bit different. My boyfriend being the robot nerd he is, took a bit of Gundam inspiration, as well as somewhat basing it off of Mic Sounders from “king of the braves gao gai gar” (transforming from a cutesy robot into a more proper humanoid robot).
Tumblr media
His NEO form (which may or may not be a proper boss fight) is gonna be based off a high-end Gundam or Armored Core, but we don't have any specific inspiration just yet.
Kanako
Kanako doesn't have any changes at first. While she does have some major differences as Iris (her Flowey Form) we're still working on that. However, we do have ideas for her Pacifist route encounter, where she emerges as the Liberator of Monsterkind (her version of Asriel's God of Hyperdeath). She pulls up in a Tokusatsu-style superhero form, with a purposefully overdesigned and cluttered look that only a child absolutely would think is awesome.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that's it for the main cast. I don't think Clover needs an outfit change, but I might add a few knick-knacks and accessories that they pick up along their journey. I don't think Dalv needs any major changes either. If there's any other characters you wanna know about, do lemme know! Also, I'm not an artist, but if anyone wants to take a crack at some SS designs, feel free to hit me up!

so as someone who is only on chapter one of omori and is obsessed with it here are my thoughts as a new member of the fandom
bear in mind that i haven’t finished the game. i only just got to that one creepy forest place? like the one after the spiders? please don’t spoil!!
but spoilers for everything before that below
1) I HATE BASIL. he’s such a stupid little punk. “uwu im so smol and helpless and i always get bullied and i’m so sweet and innocent” I JUST KNOW THAT FUCKER IS HIDING SOMETHING. everytime i end back in that stupid white room it’s because HES DOING SOME SUSSY SHIT. i also just hate him and everything about him and i know for a damn fact that he’s hiding something horrible behind that sweet little smile and he thinks he’s tricking me but he’s NOT I KNOW HIS GAME.
anyway.
2) i literally cannot decide on a favorite character. i have a least favorite, that’s pretty obvious, but when it comes to a favorite im torn. i LOVE omori, aubrey, kel, and hero all the same! i love mari too but i’m a little salty against her because all her hints for the quests are severely unhelpful 😭 but i still love her tho. i just love the main four so so much and i physically cant choose who i like better. poor little aubrey seems so scared and alone when she has the pink hair and she’s so kind in the little space world thing. hero is a sweetheart and i can’t wait to meet him in the colorful world where i’m moving or whatever. and kel is literally so me 😂 it’s not even funny he just does whatever the fuck he wants and that deserves some respect on his name. and omori is a kickass main character who has a cool thing going for him. but these four characters are sooo well crafted and i love how they work together! it’s a great dynamic balance!
3) i’m either a really bad gamer or the game is super long. i finished the prologue in like seven hours. it took SO LONG. i’m not used to indie games taking that long to play considering that i got through all of undertale in like 10-12 hours my first time. it’s awesome! i love finding all the secrets and talking to all the npcs but DAMNNN.
4) this game has so. much. detail. it’s insane. like the sheer amount of mini games and tiny pockets of lore. it’s like higher than undertale level and i don’t mean to keep going back to undertale but i see a lot of similarities in the game style. i also totally got sucked into playing like 30 rounds of blackjack on omoris computer. it was cool af.
5) the fighting mechanics are super hard. maybe i just suck at strategy but i am so bad at the fights that i just run away whenever i have the opportunity 😭 it’s a problem. i also have no clue how the happy sad angry shit works, i just make omori sad so stab has an attack boost and make aubrey angry so headbutt has an attack boost but other than that i don’t really use it at all and i don’t understand it. maybe that’s why it took me literally 10 tries to get past space ex boyfriend? it’s really fun i just think it’s supposed to be easier than it is and i just missed a memo on strategy.
6) i really love the message so far. the way that mental health is portrayed as something that’s a never ending journey. omori doesn’t just breathe and then everything’s okay, the game highlights realistic coping strategies and makes things like depression, anxiety, and phobias to understandable for any audience through a very creative medium: an indie video game. it’s genius. and i just love how it’s been approached so far, it’s very inspiring!
7) i’m terrified that this fandom is gonna make me mad, i swear to god if i just walk in and see a bunch of basil stan’s i’m turning and walking back out 💀 i mean okay maybe i’ll like basil better later but chances for that seem very low right now. my sister told me that apparently he went through some trauma thing? womp womp don’t care he’s an annoying mf who keeps taking me back to that boring white room where i stab myself, he’s a party pooper and i want a tornado to blow his dumb little flower house down.

MIANITE AND LIFE SERIES? oh please,,, please tell me holy shit im VERY normal abt that idea (im lying)
YESSSSSS I AM SO. I AM SO NORMAL (biggest liar)
I'm still sorta workin on the story plot wise but basically I imagine it as like the lifers are brought into like a semi-reset realm of Mianite under the guise that it's supposed to be like a regular life series (but its not 👀!) Ianite's back to being imprisoned and maybe there's also some other underlying happenings Watcher related or not idk haha
(the god followings i mention later on were based off @ranababamboo , they made some awesome art for this crossover u should totes go check out :D)
I think it'd be funny if theyre still greeted by a version of Dec (or maybe Pix or Iskall would make a funky cool prist :Oc) and are introduced to the mechanic of the game- It works similar to Secret Life where they're all given a set of tasks; One from Mia, Dia and Ianite, and based on how they go about the tasks each session, it leads into them forming factions (aka the god teams) with Lizzie starting off with Mianite and later finding evidence of a Marthanite and BigB doin his funky backrooms things (he's set to follow the World Historian how he gets there I'm not sure but if anyone wants to add on feel free! /nf)
Tiem Reester isn't present but I think it'd be interesting if there's like traces of them (implying this takes place post-s2 but funky multiverse relative universe things hehe) I have plans for Jordan and Tom specifically in linking this to their hardcore series from last year I affectionately named Linked Life bc of the whole "if we all die the server resets" but ye. ye ;]c
I imagine tons of shenanigans ensue ofc from both just them all bein the silly goofys they are, and then as they start to form their factions (maybe both by god followings but also if the factions are mix of the different gods too would be interesting to see... Like Mounders with two dianitees (pearl n joel) a mianitee (bdubs) and an ianitee (mumbo) for example👀 As the sessions go on the tasks become more interesting/offputting or odd that are maybe more lore related, like one big one I keep coming back to is Ianite sending Mumbo to the S1 skycage via a book only given to him with a chest of redstone supplies to make a flying machine
How much the gods appear kinda varies, I've already half written this bit that Scott, Tango and Mumbo are the first to see a physical form of Ianite after a redstone-filled night of building and Pearl becoming Dianite's champion so yeyeyeeyeyeeee!!! :D

Lyoko Warriors Run A D&D Game
I wrote something about this for Code: July and said I'd expand on it later And Then I Didn't so
Aelita: After much deliberation, was chosen to be the DM given her skillset making her good at handling both mechanics and storytelling (though the others occasionally try their hands in one-shots). Was incredibly nervous at first, but naturally settled into the role and thrives in it. Makes a lot of homebrew and gets crazy into setting development. Is very careful about the players' mental states and tries not to mirror any actual event they've been through too closely in her stories, though she can't help projecting a little bit (Mister Puck shows up as an NPC wherever she can fit him, she focuses a lot of plots around family crises and the importance of bonds between people, always puts emphasis on hope and happy endings, even if they're difficult to reach). Can be absolutely cruel in regard to making enemy encounters strategically difficult, but only because she knows the others will somehow make it through. Has a DMPC elf druid who acts as a healer (and shamelessly flirts with Jeremie's character)
Jeremie: Was also considered for the DM role, but declined--he admitted that while he'd read the rulebook before and would do great with mechanics, he'd make a poor storyteller. It's also kind of cathartic for him to be with the party of fantasy action heroes for once. He made a human wizard initially as a poorly-hidden, powered-up self-insert, focusing on spells that would mechanically and strategically benefit the party, but as he gets into the story the character comes into its own and he branches out with spells he just thinks are cool. The designated Only One Who Remembers What Happened Last Session, and usually the first to see through Aelita's battle gimmicks, though whether or not he tells the others about them immediately is a toss-up.
Odd: Made a nonbinary dwarf bard before most of the group knew what nonbinary was (mid-2000s, not a well known thing despite two of them being trans). Takes up the healer role when Aelita can't juggle her PC. Often has to be gently nudged out of the spotlight and reminded he isn't playing the only main character, but Aelita can always rely on him to take her hooks and drag the others along with him, or force the rest of the party to actually talk to each other. Basically that one really talkative, enthusiastic player in the group who always fills any awkward silences.
Ulrich: Initially wasn't too interested in this whole thing and was just joining to hang out with his friends. Has a dragonborn fighter who eventually multiclasses into monk. Also started off as very much a self-insert character, and Ulrich is occasionally a bit of a difficult player because he has trouble with his character being wrong and screwing things up. Eventually, though, he starts to loosen up, sometimes rivaling Odd as the spotlight-stealer because of his character's dedication to their team and "awesome dragon powers"
Yumi: Originally tried to make a healer until Aelita sussed out she didn't actually want to play support and was only doing it because she thought she had to; after some nudging, she made a human rogue assassin instead. She still winds up being the party's dedicated problem-solver and only sane man, the one who'll actually try the doorknob to see if it's locked before Jeremie's character makes a dangerous attempt to teleport past it or Ulrich's character tries to kick it in. The most quiet person at the table, but when she does speak up, it's clear she's put a lot of thought into her character's backstory, how she behaves, and her relationships and opinions on others. Always describes her attacks in battle, and encourages Ulrich into eventually doing the same.
William: Was invited by Aelita to mend his relationships with the rest of the group, and is the silently-acknowledged exception to the "don't play anything too close to Lyoko" rule since he's still working through some crap and this is the only way he'll actually open up to the others. As such, has a tiefling warlock afraid of his own powers and patron that's difficult to integrate into the group at first because of William's own reluctance and being one of those infamous brooding edgy loner characters. Eventually, William shows the character has a very notable soft side and gets him in somewhat good graces with the others. Is incredibly dramatic and clearly using this as an acting outlet, but is also very good at said acting and tends to get the rest of the group swept up in his energy.

Moon Knight City of the Dead Issue 1… why…?
So. New MK side run has begun, the hyped up full on debut of Layla/new Scarlet Scarab in the comics, with a premise that most writers would twist into an epic and breathtaking journey.
We don’t get that here.
And I have a lot of thoughts on why and how I feel so frustrated with what we got. There’s pieces of something awesome, potential to go to some really fascinating places, and yet it is held back in almost every aspect, creating something messy and clunky that makes me mad to read.
(This is long btw)
First off though, some things I did enjoy!
I really love the art and coloring of this issue. The anatomy and movement and shadows, the stylization of character’s faces and costumes, the sprawling city with its deep reds and blues that feel saturated and weighty. It’s great. Besides a few moments that it comes out of left field with some bad stuff (Layla’s whole face at the end or the MK mask w teeth during the memory slideshow like whaTtt is that), it’s super solid and made for a very enjoyable looking comic.
It was also really fun to see Badr for a little. I think it would’ve been cool to get more, and the pacing of things as I’ll get to later sapped his importance in the story for me some, making him feel more like a prop or a plot device to get it going, but overall it was lovely to see him again. And it was cool to see him being a doctor as well, as we haven’t seen that as recently in MacKay! Always a joy my dear sir please come back soon.
The story in concept. Going to the underworld, detaching a headmate supernaturally to journey to a different plane of reality to save one life, and meeting a dead ally along the way is fascinating stuff, an idea that inspires me to want to explore it myself.
Because (and now it’s time to get into the stuff I didn’t like) the writing doesn’t do this idea justice at all.
This is not the worst MK comic ever rn, not their worst writing. It’s not as violently ableist or antisemitic as things like Bemis or making a joke out of MK like some others, but it’s just stupid, and what it glosses over or gets wrong is weird and uncomfortable and harmful in its own right.
To start this isn’t my Marc. His guilt is not one of punishment for penance, of believing he’s sinned and needs to be washed clean by pain. He is a man stuck in bad coping mechanisms and trying to pretend he’s not. He’s a man who hates himself and uses violence as what I would describe as a form of self harm. But it is not with the goal of erasing his past.
Yes, he runs from the person of Marc Spector, he runs from the idea and the responsibility, but Marc doesn’t try to forget. He holds onto things with a vice grip and never lets himself drop it. He believes in his own mythos and is grappling with his complicated and traumatized history to remember he can love and care and trust people again, that the work of making his life better is not solely on his shoulders. That’s what MacKay’s been dealing with.
MacKay Marc is guilty and self flagellating but in a way he tries not to think about, that he brushes over. He puts on an air of confident collectedness and has more hate for Marc as a concept then specifically his actions, and he’s still able to move forward and find a type of momentum and bravado in the MK suit.
Or in simpler terms: yes Marc has guilt. He does not have this kind of guilt.
The first few pages read so strangely, just this over dramatic spiel that feels more like daredevil than moon knight, like a rehashed dramatic intro to a moody sad 90s comic. And not in a good way. It’s not deep it’s just annoying and tedious and the prose is clunky and again, extremely off in its vibes and message. I think it could’ve been alright, if some of the talk of his guilt had been shifted and the narration hadn’t continued constantly throughout the rest of the issue (which I’ll get to later), but as is in its full context it’s just… weird.
In addition to the weird guilt vibes, there’s further issues with the Khonshu religiosity in this.
Khonshu isn’t something Marc worships, he’s something he uses for his own means. He’ll call on him or talk about being the priest of the mission, but that’s because Khonshu doesn’t have oversight, he’s a tool and form of direction and theming, and at the story’s core Marc is the priest for his mission, not this god’s.
At points in this issue he genuinely sounds dedicated though, and it shifts the flavor of earlier pieces more in line with his usual monologuing to seeming more like strange spiritual devotion. Especially calling Khonshu the greatest of great gods, or saying that him being in the underworld is Khonshu’s mission. It changes his actions from that of Marc to that of a real Khonshu follower and its…. Just weird. It’s all just weird and very ooc.
On top of that, there’s no mention or interrogation or even presence of discussing Judaism alongside all of this. I’m not Jewish myself but have had multiple convos around the topic w those who are n who have made their own posts discussing it and can add on more nuance n info to this should they like (bc more thoughts for discussion are always awesome), but just on a surface level it’s strange. It’s strange to have a plot revolving around going to another belief system’s afterlife and not at all bringing up how it clashes or relates to Jewish beliefs. Yes Marc isn’t really actively practicing anymore but I’d hazard Jake probably is, and Marc has still talked about his connection to his faith and how it’s impacted his time as moon knight and serving Khonshu.
The text treats the Egyptian pantheon belief system as the True and Accepted default here, with Marc not even discussing anything about going to an afterlife he doesn’t belong in (and shouldn’t even have) as a Jewish man, or even thinking about how Badr discussing Ka conflicts with Jewish beliefs on the soul and how Neshamah differ.
And yes, Marc works regularly with the very real Egyptian pantheon and mystical systems but it’s in a different way, and under a different context and understanding by readers of his acceptance of it.
A whole other layer of depth, conflict, and exploration could’ve been added by really digging into the theological implications of this plot, of a Jewish soul in the Egyptian afterlife, and yet it’s not brought up at all, not referenced or mentioned and it makes it all feel weirdly out of place, or like stuff is being glossed over.
That, on top of Jake and Steven (not to mention the entire rest of the main mission cast) being completely absent in mention, consultation, presence, or anything just feeds into this strange sense of Pepose wanting Marc to be the idea he has of him in his head, this guilty, sad, and violent merc serving a moon god with not a ton else. And yes again those are all aspects of Marc, but there is nuance to each of those aspects and treating him as a singlet with no thoughts on the conflicts in faith of his present is… just weird.
I don’t know if he’ll be treated as a singlet the whole run, but the fact that the body’s soul being sent into the afterlife has not already brought in any system conflict at all is an issue. Is it their collective soul? Is it just Marc’s? How does this comic understand alter soul distinction? Has it thought about it at all? I mean the answer is no but the thing is it should’ve.
That’s where so many of my issues with this come from though: choices just being… not good. Not thought out or in line with the characters and world. The writing is off and out of place and gOD THE CONSTANT NARRATION IS GRATING!!
I don’t know why it was chosen for Marc to novel write his thoughts and observations the whole issue but it’s bad. It goes past introducing plots or observations that can’t be shown in text to either:
1. Filling space that doesn’t need to be filled
2. Restating what has just been said or shown in a panel (“we have the power of the four horsemen” “wow they just got the power of the four horsemen”)
3. At worst, telling us stuff that was not indicated at all by anything else (“oh I know something is wrong here even though I have not been given enough reason to pique that suspicion” “oh I reunite with Layla and hold her and take her in but haha you don’t see that ig”)
It’s annoying and makes reading things difficult because he’s blabbering on the whole time in places he DOESNT NEED TO!! And it makes the action and emotional movement feel awkward and forced. I don’t need to know every second of Marc’s thoughts Pepose I can parse out things with my eyes I promise you that. Also can he stop talking about penance for TWO SECONDS!!!
The worst part is narration works when done well! When it highlights things that can’t be shown in art or gives some bits of exploration into feelings or exposition, but we don’t need it in every panel. It actually confused some parts of where to look for me by telling me what was about to happen before it did. Stop being like “I thought it was over but—“ JUST LET US SEE ITS NOT OVER!!
Another moment (similar ish to the start) where the narration would’ve worked for me (if it was not surrounded by just more constant narrating monologue) is when Marc first arrives in the Duat. The prose is pretty, it’s vibrant, it describes things the audience wouldn’t be able to pick up from static pictures and helps to set the scene. The only issue is that it doesn’t stand on its own, it’s not an interjection of observations and thoughts, it’s another entry in the never ending cycle of Marc just talking. And it loses some of its luster because of that.
There’s also just a handful of pieces of either dialogue or thoughts that (in the context of Steven and Jake being absent at the moment despite not being absent at the point in time this should be taking place) make me feel very uncomfortable with Pepose’s vibes on their mental health. Some lines that rubbed me the wrong way in context include “The rage fills within me—and suddenly I have a plan. That said, it would help if my plan wasn’t dangerously insane.” “You know me Badr, mental discipline is my middle name.” And a few similar ones I don’t want to reread again for.
They’re just unnecessary man. We don’t need vaguely or directly ableist vibes in words with MK anymore. It works if it feels like it’s coming from Marc’s internalized ableism IE when he was talking about being called crazy during the discussion with Steven and Jake and Jake called him out for it, but when it’s obvious it’s just how the author sees things it sucks!
Stop using insane, stop using crazy, stop being like “oh I’m so good at keeping myself in check,” WE DONT NEED IT!! ALSO THEY R AT A GENERAL POINT OF SYSTEM COMMUNICATION N HARMONY RN!!
Which also just… man this feels like it’s trying to introduce MK instead of continuing an already established and well under way arc. Yea, this isn’t MacKay writing it, but it’s still in the continuity and set up for his run and like… sorry not sorry but I think you should take that context into account if you’re going to be working within it???
Instead the story props itself up by trying to introduce everything at once and Marc feels like he’s starting from the bottom of development.
And speaking of introducing everything at once! Oh boy the pacing!
No one besides Badr is consulted before Marc goes into the Duat, Badr just. Sends him there. There’s no real build up for why there’s a need go that far, for what the threat is or why Marc would go to these lengths so suddenly. Like yeah I know he wants to save a kid who’s a traveler of the night, but like… Others have died or almost died on his watch and he’s never gone to this point before, even though it seems like it’s always something they’ve had as an option. Like… ok ig if Soldier hadn’t been vamped he would just be dead lmao (though also hey! Why and how do souls end up in this afterlife? Do they have to believe in the gods? Do they have to be in some way tied to the pantheon? Is it just where souls go if they’re near moon knight lmaO? If you want to have your afterlife plot you have to do the worldbuilding for it)
And while yes, a lot of this is because This Plot Wasnt Thought Up During Earlier Parts Of Mackay, it also isn’t introduced in a way that feels natural or makes sense.
Events just Happen. Mysteries or drives are just Said without a good basis for why they’re there. Again, this cult was talked about as just kinda a sadistic gang but then they’re a big deal? And oh the kid is dying and oh he’s worth going to the afterlife for and OH WERE JUST HERE NOW and “oh there’s a conspiracy I’ve decided with no real evidence” and HEY FOUND THE GUY and—Suddenly a whole lot of what is happening. God heart full on cult horsemen of the apocalypse memory flashback and BOMBS NOW APPARENTLY and LAYLA and MK BIG PAST BADDIES BOSS FIGHT INCOMING!!
Like ohhhh my god stuff is so rushed and happens so inorganically and with no time to really understand what’s happening. It’s a type of story where my suspension of disbelief isn’t there and it fully just feels like seeing the writer trying to get to the end goal of what they want to write about (moon knight fighting old villains) as quickly as possible. And it SUCKS! Like this genuinely should’ve been more than one issue, there should’ve been at least sOme more build up to gEtting to the city of the dead in the first place, no matter additionally uncovering a plot of some sort happening and Layla turning up.
It’s just…. It’s so rushed and strange and forced and it didn’t have to be and IT MAKES ME MAD IT IS and it’s just not enjoyable to read. It all feels so shallow and stilted and weird, all while having this underlying idea with so much weight, some generally gorgeous art, some moments that could’ve been really awesome, and last but not least…. Literally a good reference to doing a Duat plot well.
This whole mini run is for MCU synergy, bringing Layla in, exploring the Duat and it’s lore, and again yes, the run isn’t done, but it just…. Compared to the MCU plot for the Duat this feels so…. GraaggHhggh. Especially when it comes to system interaction and exploring different painful memories that effect headmates in different ways.
It’s just. It was an extremely frustrating read from both a technical writing standpoint and a character exploration standpoint, and it worries me and doesn’t excite me at all for future issues. Like we’ll sEe but goddamn this is not a good start no matter how it plays out and it doesn’t give me confidence if it turns out I have to read several more issues of this kind of stuff.
Petty nitpicks speed run because there wasn’t enough enjoyable padding for them to not stand out!
I don’t know if Pepose could’ve specified or not but Marc’s not drinking vodka in the opening scene, it looks more like whiskey or something similar by the bottle, again nailing home how strangely off this Marc is from the Marc he’s meant to be with how Mackay has built him up.
Why do they use Duat and City of the Dead like they’re interchangeable titles it’s just the Duat like I get calling it “the city of the dead” since it is that but like. Let that just b the run title they shouldn’t be calling it that like it’s a final name.
They misspell Dr. Alraune’s name lmao
How did the kid get… hurt..? The only point in the opening fight I can think he maybe got hit was with the gunfire but it didn’t seem like that was aimed towards him and there wasn’t any moment of having a detail in the background showing him get injured. And he wasn’t lethally injured at the start so ???
What… is the continuity between the Hydra vs Karnak Cowboys fight we see in MacKay and the flashback here. They were on an empty road there when they crashed? And now they’re in the heart of the city? AlsO bOMBS???
Anyway all I’ll wrap it up with is when the only thing I genuinely smile at is the cameo and namedrop of Apocalypse you know something is wrong with your story lmaO

Kate Wetherall, Katherine Pulitzer, and your Keefe boy :)
Aaaaaahh yes yes yes these are really good ones ahdkdhsnbdjshssj
Kate Wetherall:
Tumblr media
Ok so. The reason I say she works best as a part of a dynamic is because while she’s awesome on her own, she is MOST compelling with the rest of the mysterious Benedict society!!!the four of them together are so special to me
Also I’m a Kate apologist, she’s never done anything wrong and I stand by it :)
(And yeah if you see the way I write Kate you may see me projecting. It might have something to do with me being in sixth grade when I first read the books and going “omg we have the same name!!!”)
Katherine Pulitzer:
Tumblr media
Look I relate to this girl SO MUCH you don’t even understand 😭
And the fandom has a tendency to villainize her or make her seem problematic simply for being complex, which… is a problem I’ve been seeing a lot of lately, actually.
I love her SO MUCH. She’s kinda scary but also she’s me
AND FINALLY
Keefe Sencen:
Tumblr media
Once again flattered by your interest in hearing me talk abut my interests that you don’t share 🥹
Okay look. I LOVE KEEFE. And I initially colored in “they’ve never done anything wrong” cause I have tendency to be a Keefe apologist, but if I’m being real here he’s definitely done stuff wrong 😭 @phtalogreenpoison has heard me talk about his character in detail and knows EXACTLY what I’m talking about.
Why the tiny scribble on “too much screen time”? Well…….it’s technically true. He does get too much screen time, and for not being the MC, he’s started getting a lot of his POV in Sophie’s story. However, I EAT IT UP cause I’m a pretty standard basic Keefe girlie. So while I understand the side of the fandom that’s beginning to want more of some other characters, and I think that’s soooo valid, I also am totally eating up all the Keefe screen time. SO EXCITED for the Keefe book that’s coming out this fall. I love this boy. So much.
Also would I marry him irl?? uhhhhhhh if Sophie didn’t exist then YES he’s mine. But I’m a girl’s girl and he belongs to Sophie <3 they’re so cute together, too!!
Somebody is gonna come at me for saying he’s deeper than he seems cause we actually get quite a bit of insight into his character depth, but I think even what we do see doesn’t fully cover it. Keefe is more open with his friends than he’s ever been with anyone else… but he definitely has a LOT of defense mechanisms in place, which is why he has that cool-kid-doesn’t-care-doesn’t-work-only-flirts vibe going on in the first book, and the first time we REALLY get slapped in the face with “haha you knew he had a facade but here have a GUT PUNCH” is the quote in the beginning of book three when Sophie suggests they stop by Keefe’s house and he just sorta looks down and says “I…don’t bring friends home.”
Like. We knew his parents sucked. But something about seeing him vulnerable like that. Ahdkfhdjshdjdshs
I think the mischief making and flirting is also a real aspect of his personality, but a lot of the sorta bad-boy-ish reputation he’s got going on at school in the beginning books is a front to cover his ✨issues✨ and I don’t think we even see the full depth of how much the reveal of his mother as a villain and her constant attempts to make him “embrace the change” and have a “legacy” tied to her evil thoughts impact him. We know it’s hard for him and we totally see that, but even in Keefe’s POV he avoids thinking about it, and… honestly it’s up to us fanfic writers to really delve into that angst. Shannon sorta tells us it sucks for him, but doesn’t really show us (not fully, at least) cause Sophie is the main character, not him.
And do I project my issues on him? …maybe a little…his particular brand of the “using humor to cover up my problems” trope hits very close to home for me. I deflect with humor in the exact same flippant way, and just like with Keefe, sometimes it works and sometimes it gets me in trouble with my friends when I need to be serious.
(Yes I want to carry Keefe in a hand a like a tiny dog. Not elaborating.)
Wasn’t sure whether or not to say he gets done dirty by the fans. Historically, this fandom is head over heels in love with him, but right now there’s been a bit of a turn towards combating Fitz hate (another character that often gets pitted against Keefe unjustly bc of shipping discourse) with Keefe hate and saying he’s problematic when he’s really just complex.
So yeah I’m not normal about Keefe at all, if you couldn’t tell.
I managed to talk for a very long time about him
You can tell where the brain bees are buzzing rn can’t you

As long as we have all this downtime, we might as well go visit old friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We used to eat bits of it together.
...that's not as gross as it sounds.
Tumblr media
Right. That. Sorry, I don't words good when I'm grieving.
This is a sacred place to the villagers here. And now it's a sacred place for us too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zale and I made Moraine babysit our Flasky Boy while we attend to the business of pounding on TIA's door. We would have left the hollow puppet there too but he doesn't take orders; He just follows us around mechanically. It's eerie and I'm half-convinced Resh'an did that as a practical joke.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
B'st doesn't get hit by things, so much as he is given the conscious suggestion that he should behave as though he was hit by a thing. Which he ignores.
I would too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think he should seek out Yoyo first, personally, since she's the one who delivered the prophecy of his creation. There may be more to that prophecy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Are they....
Is Cael going to use Kickball to rip out the Immortal Children's souls and put them in robot bodies that can leave the castle?
Because that's an awesome idea and as long as they're doing it consensually, I'm 100% onboard with it!
I don't see Watchmaker around so they might not have told her. But. Like. Who gives a shit. She wants to be imprisoned here for eternity with nothing but her work keeping her company.
Tumblr media
They're going to make a new body for Kickball too. Might need a new name to go with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everything's better here in Mirth. The air's cleaner. Water doesn't taste like rot. Food doesn't come from a wall. Also, we have a functioning ecosystem. Gotta be honest, I'm not even sure what we're breathing in the other world since the plants are all dead and the climate regulator isn't regulating climate.
We might just be. Like. Ever-so-slowly using up a large but finite supply of breathable air distributed among the few remaining organic lifeforms on the planet. That's horrifying. I'm gonna stop thinking about that now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OH OKAY THEY'RE GOING TO BECOME A HIVEMIND AMALGAM.
Tumblr media
You know what? That's on me. I should have known better than to leave them unsupervised. They're children.
I've got the juice if we need to Moon Shiv it again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
FROGGY. ROBOT.
...
PINK froggy robot.
I'm sorry I can't pay attention to your big prepared speech because OH MY GOD YOU'RE ADORABLE.
Does that pink gem on your chest work like a mobile eclipse cannon or is that just there for aesthetic. I love it either way.
Tumblr media
FROGGY
Tumblr media
Okay fine, Artificer. Legal Team says we can't call you Froggy for trademark reasons, seeing as you're very obviously a composite of two distinctly identifiable characters. Gotta keep the branding as lawyer-friendly as possible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No, I get it. I'm happy for you. For all of you. Please don't be offended when Serai and I aggressively destroy this machine with extreme prejudice. Your froggy body is fine but this thing isn't allowed to exist.
Tumblr media
So that's a no on the eclipse cannon functionality. You should look into upgrading. The fatal flaw that defeated the cannon before was that it was stationary.
In any case, welcome aboard, Arty. It was nice to see home again, for what time we had here. Even if I may have made a small miscalculation in my plan for how to deal with TIA.
Tumblr media
BUT THEN WHERE THE FUCK IS HE!?!?
I'LL START BURNING THINGS, I SWEAR
Tumblr media
Fortunately, I kept a cool head and calmly, civilly allowed myself to be dragged from the room. And now our time here is done. We return to Serai's world, armed with the greatest technology the Clockwork Castle can build.
Tumblr media
HAHAHAHA SEVEN GREEN GEMS ASSHOLE, kneel before my Gold Engineer!

hello this is my first time sending in a prompt so I hope u don't mind that it is IronDad! so the duo are working in the lab, maybe on one of tonys cars and somehow Peter gets stuck under there by his arms. he can free his entire torso but his face and his arms are trapped under the car. Tony finds it funny and with all the wriggling Peters shirt rides up and Tony gets an idea.. lots of fluff and tickles please
Caught in a Web
Summary: See the prompt above :)
(I've seen another fic similar to this prompt idea :) I didn't want to accidentally copy their work so I changed the prompt just a little to make it less copycatish :) I hope you still enjoy Anon ❤️)
Tony made a couple tweaks to his device. "Hmm, what is wrong with this thing?"
The billionaire adjusted the firing mechanism to see if that changed anything. However, whenever he pulled the trigger, nothing happened.
"Crap!"
"Hi Mr. Stark."
Tony looked up from his work. "Hey underoos. How was school?"
"Boring as always." Peter webbed his backpack to the wall. "How are things at the lab?"
"Boring as always."
"Come on, you can't say that. You get to work on inventions all day!"
A small corner quirked the corner of Tony's lips. "It can still be boring kid."
Peter curiously peeked over his mentor's shoulder. "What are you working on?"
"Just something to add to my suit."
"What does it do?"
"Well, you know how you catch bad guys with your web?"
"Uh-huh."
"And they can't get out until you let them or until the web disingrates?"
"Right."
"This is kind of like that."
Peter's eyes widened. "You made yourself web shooters!"
"Not web shooters kid. They're net shooters." The older mentor pointed to a nearby table. "For those."
Peter eagerly examined the net on the table. If was made with a tightly woven silvery material that felt cool to the touch.
"Made out of a vibranium-metal alloy."
The young teen whirled around. "Like Cap's shield?"
"Yep." Tony set down his screwdriver. "The idea is to create a blaster attachment for the suit that shoots those guys at the bad guys."
"Cool."
"They're lightweight enough to add very little bulk to the suit yet still powerful enough to trap the baddies. The vibranium has also been infused with some mixture of magnets to make them stick to any surface." The older scientist tapped the blaster on his suit. "And the nets can only be deactivated by a special mechanism in the arm of my suit."
"That's awesome!"
"It should be." Tony poked around the blaster, but this stupid thing won't fire."
Peter immediately joined his mentor. "Is it clogged?"
"I already checked that. It has to be something with the wiring." Tony reattached one of the wires.
Peter pointed. "I think this one might be your problem. I can reattach it if you want."
"Wait before you reattach, you don't want to---."
Tony never finished his statement. Peter had slid the wire up into the spot and accidentally set off the blaster. The blaster practically exploded, sending all three nets currently loaded flying across the room!
Tony managed to duck out of the way, but Peter wasn't so lucky. The older scientist heard an oof followed by what sounded like a body colliding with a nearby surface. Once the nets were dispensed, Tony managed to power off the device.
The older mentor scrambled to his feet. "Peter!"
"Mister Stark?"
Tony found the kid pinned near the upper corner of the far wall. His upper torso, from the top of his ribs to the top of his head in addition to his arms were pinned by the net. All Tony could see of him was the lower portion of his torso down to his feet and his hands peeking out at the top of the net.
The older scientist raced over to him. "You okay kid?"
One of the hands gave a thumbs up followed by a muffled, "I'm good!"
"Are you stuck?"
Peter squirmed a little. "I can kind of move up and down, but that's about ihit."
Tony breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay, we can work with that. Try to see if you can wiggle your way out and I'm going to reset the machine so we can disengage the net."
"Okay!" Peter began to squirm even more.
Meanwhile, Tony reset the blaster machine on his suit. He breathed a sigh of relief when it immediately began to power up. Atleast it wasn't busted and they could get Peter out as quickly as possible.
However, when he turned back to tell his mentee, Tony paused.
Due to Peter's squirming, his shirt had ridden up to show his stomach and Tony could hear him giggling about the situation on the other side of the net.
It put a smile on the older scientist's face, then a thought crossed his mind. Peter didn't have to know the machine was fixed right away, and it was technically the consequences of his own actions that landed him in this spot.
After a brief hesitation, Tony stepped back over to the trapped teen.
When Tony reached the wall, Peter had stopped his struggling. "No use Mr. Stark. I'm too stuck."
Tony leaned against the wall. "You gave it your best shot underoos, but this is why you wait for me to give directions."
"I know, I should have waited. I just wanted to help."
"And I appreciate that." The older mentor pushed off the wall. "But now you've gotta wait atleast 15 minutes for the blaster to reset."
"Are you kidding me?" The young teen whined.
"These are the consequences of your actions." Tony poked Peter's stomach. "Now you have to face them."
"Eep!" Peter's legs instinctively curled. "Misteher Stahark!"
The older man grinned. "I always forget how ticklish your stomach is."
Peter weakly kicked a leg in his direction. "D-dont gehet ahany ideas!"
"Too late. After all, I should give you a reminder not to touch until I tell you too."
"Wait, wait, waAIIT!"
Tony's hand continued spidering across his exposed tummy. "Tohoo late kihid. Consequences wait fohor noho one."
Peter's giggling picked as Tony continued his attack. With no way to see where Tony would attack next and no real way to get away, he would just have to wait for the blaster to reboot.
Of course, if he had to admit it, this wasn't the worst situation to be in. He just wished he could see.
Especially when Tony's hands attacked his sides. "Ahh! Tonyhy!"
"Hey, maybe if you squirm hard enough, you'll drop out."
"Thahat alreheady dihidnt wohork!"
"Maybe your body needs a bit more 'persuasion'."
"Wahait, whahat?"
"Come on underoos, you can do it." The older scientist's hands spidered up to Peter's ribs. "I believe in you."
"ACK! NAAAH! NAHAT THEHERE!"
"Come on, you can squirm more than that."
"SHUT UP!"
"What was that?" Tony spidered toward Peter's upper ribs. "Ihi couldn't quite hear you."
"ACK! MISTER STAHAHARK!
The older scientist stilled his fingers. "You called."
A foot pushed him away.
Tony raised one eyebrow and chuckled. "Oho, now you're going to gehet ihit."
Peter squeaked and tried to turn his body away. "Wahait! Ihim sorryhy!"
Tony playfully tugged Peter's legs down. "Where do you think you're going?"
"You're soho mehean!"
"You can still tell me toho stohop."
The teen stayed quiet.
"Do you wahant mehe to stop?"
"N-noooho."
"Do you know what I'm going to do nehext?"
Peter squeaked. "Yehes!"
Tony stroked his chin. "Ahare yohou ready for the special weapohon?"
"Dohon't mahake me sahay ihit!"
"Come on, you love the secret weapon."
"No Ihi dohon't!"
"I know your blushing under thehere."
Peter whined. "Juhust doho ihit!"
Tony shrugged. "Don't have to tell me twice."
Then the older mentor nuzzled his face into the young teen's tummy.
"SQUEEE! TOHONYHYYYY!"
"Please, you can tahake mohore nuzzles than thahat."
The young teen squeaked again. "Yohou wohouldn't dahare!"
Tony stroked his gotee. "Don't put money on thahat behet."
"Yohoure suhuch a meheanihie pahants!"
"But yohou love ihit."
Peter was quiet for a minute. Then he excalimed in a high pitched voice, "Yohou dohon't have toho point ihit ohout!"
"Ah, yes I do. It's adorable!"
The teen went quiet.
"You okay Pete?"
"Could---Could you do---A r-raspberry nuzzle?"
The grin on Tony's face could light up a room. It took a lot of confidence for Peter to ask for tickles. So when he did, Tony did he best to give the tickles he asked for. "You think you can handle a raspberry nuzzle?"
"Y-yehes."
The older scientist leaned closer. "How many do you can handle."
"Ihi dohon't know. Like fohour."
Tony scoffed. "You could handle five."
"Eep!"
Tony chuckled as he knelt down. "Best get started."
Each nuzzle raspberry produced a loud squeal from the young teen, followed by a series of snorts. And it was absolutely adorable. By the end, Peter just hung there as residual giggles poured out of him.
With a chuckle, Tony walked back over to his suit. "Pepare for impact underoos."
A moment later, Peter was released from the net as it was pulled back toward the suit . . . and promptly wrapped itself around the suit.
"Hmm, maybe those magnets don't work as well as I thought."
Peter pulled himself up to a sitting position. "Ihis fifteen minuhutes ohover alreheady?"
"Did I say fifteen minutes? Whoops."
"Huh?"
Tony gave Peter a wink. "Might have overexaggerated the time."
The young teen's eyes widened. "You mean ihit wasn't stuck!"
"Nah, I just wanted to mess with you."
Peter growled. "Are you kidding me?"
"Sorry kihid. You got yourself into the perfect position for tickling ahand Ihi had to take advantage."
The teen was silent for a solid minute. Then Tony went flying. The older scientist was pinned to the far wall in a similar position that Peter had been.
"Ack! Peter!"
The young teen grinned. "You're in thehe perfehect position for ticklehels, I gotta take advantahage."
"Don't you dare!"
"I wouldn't behet money ohon thahat."
Needless to say, Peter wasn't the only reduced to laughter that day.

Taking this off the Castle Dracula blog but for the cards we used a program called Forge of the Multiverse, but that's not what you're asking about.
We didn't start with existing decks, more with whatever the gimmick was. So we made a deck for Link and his major gimmick is max HP. He starts with 12 ( = 3 hearts) and then his deck has heart containers in it which will up his max HP. We new for Link the Triforce should be relevant so we modeled that within the game mechanics, and then basically filled out the deck with game references and whatever was necessary to keep him from dying IMMEDIATELY since he only has 12 HP!
We found that environments are very easy to build but villains are extremely hard to build because they have to play themselves. Our Dresden Files villain is the only one that remotely works and we're still not super thrilled with it. (Our other villain is just extremely broken).
The neat thing about Sentinels is you can just make up new mechanics in the card types, right? So we were thinking of making a King Arthur deck and the gimmick would be to just fill it with Knights. New card type: knight. And then other mechanics can refer back to that.
Oh and if you have a think in the environment that needs to be triggered by another card effect, put at least one card in the environment that will do that.
Thank you so much for answering (and for answering so QUICKLY)!
Forge of the Multiverse may not have been exactly what I was asking about, but it is VERY helpful to KNOW about, so that's awesome.
Thank you for the advice and suggestions! I can definitely see why villains would be difficult. I'm mostly looking at making heroes and maybe environments, so . . . at least I'm not going hardmode?
Also, the King Arthur deck sounds super cool. Just saying.
Thank you once again! You're awesome!

Aaand the final chapters for this volume. Boy I'm gonna be so sad when the last volume will be finished after next week.
Chapters 7-9 review under the cut.
Chapter 7:
Tumblr media
Personal trainer Razlo!!
Tumblr media
These pages of Razlo lifting Livio up mean so much to me...
Tumblr media
Saving this one for a drawing reference!
Tumblr media
I like this quiet panel of Elendira in front of the bomb...I want to know what is your backstory? What has driven you to be such a devoted servant of Knives and wish for the end of humanity so much?
Tumblr media
This whole fight is soo cool! Wonder if that's Razlo speaking or Livio, cuase it sounds more like Razlo, and I think they are kinda switching back and forth the whole time.
Tumblr media
TO HIMMM AAAAAAAH BUHUHUHUUU (nothing more coherent to add to that)
Chapter 8:
Tumblr media
And that's it! The end of this incredibly cool fight, Elendira deafeated by her own nail!
Tumblr media
You didn't let him down!! :'((( He'd be so proud!
Tumblr media
I love love these panels, with the light coming from below here.
Also, Guernica like the spanish town and the drawing by Picasso? Wonder if there's any reason to that or if it just sounded cool for Nightow.
Tumblr media
Oh, right. I kinda forgot another good reason why Legato hates Vash, which is Vash nearly killed Knives? :D Yeah that might get him a bit worked up.
Tumblr media
I'm feeling a bit sorry for Legato here, because wow Knives, that was uncalled for? He's just worried for you, no need to be mean.
Tumblr media
Phew, badass. Not gonna lie, doing these recaps and reading more has made me interested to dig into some Knives/Legato fanfics. There's a lot of potential for so many interesting ways to go about their relationship! Maybe when I want to get a change to reading my vashwood...
Tumblr media
I thought at first he had been unconscious and his defense mechanism was a reaction of him passing out (you know, like Tessaiga and Inu Yasha in vol...uh 13 I think? Probably made me subconsciously think of that) so it's interesting to see he's still very much conscious, but at this point, no more able to controll his body and all of his plant mechanisms. The way Vash clings to his right arm is maybe him trying to keep his arm from transforming into angel arm?
Tumblr media
Little Vash collection of this spread. I need to safe more Vash faces, been neglecting that too much!
Tumblr media
Uuuh another really awesome spread.
Chapter 9:
Tumblr media
Oof Legato got angeled.
Tumblr media
On my refound mision to save more Vash faces!
Tumblr media
Man I really like Legato as a villain! I mean sure, there are more nuanced villains out there, but in his unhingedness, his very clear motive, his adoration to Knives, and his absolute determination to make life a living hell for Vash, he's so fun to observe! Also curse you for hurting our son and so on.
Tumblr media
And, good that he's happy...I guess?
Tumblr media
Don't look so beautiful when you're crammed in between these Wolfwood panels, Vash, this'll kill me... (I am kinda wondering if it's really him thinking of that time or if it's just plot device for the scene? That would be confusing though, so I guess it's really that Vash is thinking about this now)
Tumblr media
That response by Legato, I really enjoy that story-wise.
Tumblr media
The way he's able to hold his ground against Vash's power is pretty badass! Most of the time he was stuck in some big man-holster so it wouldn't be obvious, but he's actually an impressive fighter!
Tumblr media
But you're still shooting at my baby so I'm not admitting that out loud.
Tumblr media
Kinda reminds you of that scene in the town where Vash and Wolfwood had been driven out, right?
Tumblr media
Turning that around so that Vash's expression is better to see: look how terrified he is that his body's response will kill Legato here!
Tumblr media
Aah and this answers my question in my last post, about how they knew about Vash. Isn't that kinda beautiful how every plant on this planet holds on image of Vash in their mind?
Tumblr media
Uuuh Chronica is out there for revenge for Domina.
Tumblr media
Those two! It's so wonderful seeing them helping out time and time again and just doing their best! Also that panel where they talk about Vash, so cute to see the different impressions he's made on them both! Different things have stuck out for them, which tells a lot about their own characters and their relationship with Vash. The last panel of Meryl thinking of Vash is also very cute! I personally like to think of her feelings towards him as platonic, but in that way, definitely a very strong love and trust for Vash...either way it's beautiful to witness!
Tumblr media
Oh my god, they all believe in him so much...first Wolfwood, then Livio, and Meryl and Milly, too...
Tumblr media
Turned this page around because I had to get a better look....you made him cry!! You made my boy cry!
And, I can post no more pictures but you know Vash just shot down the device.....Sir, not to question your way of fighting, but why would you want to give Legato a last chance to defy you with his full powers? I don't think this is such an excellent idea?
Well, that's vol13 for you. Again, more emotions were gained in this read through, emotions for black-coat Vash and Legato as well!
