A/N: i'm gonna respond to this in sections bc it's quite long so bare with me.
Howdy y’all, 🤠 again. Yes, I didn’t in fact die. I’m sorry though that I kept getting sidetracked and couldn’t submit this until now, my boss decided to keep dumping her work into my lap. So I just wanna preface this by stating that I’m going to try and say what I want to as coherent as possible, but I have pretty severe ADHD so I’m not always as easy to understand as I think I am in my head, and I often go off on tangents, over explain things and circle back to topics randomly without realizing. Im basically going to go over their relationship over the years as I said previously (I’m not gonna go into detail about every single scandal and shitty thing Juliet did over the years, because we’d be here all year. so I figure I won’t cover them here, but rather let people ask specific questions if they want to. Remember, I was present for pretty much everything so feel free to ask.😊), but I’m also going to do kind of a mini deep dive into Andy’s behavior and actions (because although the snakes will hit you with every excuse in the book, and tell you that you’re looking too far into things and that it doesn’t matter, it does. The way a person acts in general and towards people around them is very relevant when talking about someone’s health, happiness, and well-being.) To start off, let’s take it all the way back to the time before Juliet’s reign of terror, when Andy and Scout were still together. In all honesty from what I saw of them together (and I saw pretty much everything they posted, I’m only a year younger than Andy, and I was quite into him when he was on MySpace and such, and I always watched anything with him and Scout together because they were fucking adorable lol) they had a really healthy relationship. Not once did I get weird vibes from them. The way Andy acted toward and with Scout, you could tell they really loved each other and were happy together. They had nothing to prove. It just was normal. (For any of you who are younger, or didn’t come into the picture until Andy was already post-scout and would like to see some videos of them together, you could generally search on YouTube for it, but also there’s a specific channel on there called like bring the milk tea or something that has videos of old Andy blogs and also Andy and scout on stickam and such. Worth a look if you’re curious) They weren’t constantly all over each other like possessive pack dogs *ahem Juliet ahem* and whenever Andy mentioned scout he didn’t need to shower her in compliments. They both seemed very secure in both themselves and the relationship. Super cute. Initially when they broke up it seemed quite odd. I didn’t really expect it. It got even weirder when he states that he and Juliet are together. It didn’t feel like they fit together at all (and no I’m not talking about from a fame or success perspective. At least not yet lol) As I’ve said I got bad vibes from Juliet right from the get go. Andy already seemed to be acting not like himself. (Also snakeys have argued that it’s just that he’s more mature now and that’s why he acts nervous and constantly looks Ike he wants to die. 🙄 maturity doesn’t mean losing your fucking personality and being unhappy most of the time. Jesus Christ.) it seemed like they got possessive of each other and constantly needed to show people how in love they were. Pictures, videos, and fucking public love paragraphs to show they are, in fact, in a super real relationship and they love each other. It also felt like Andy’s family was in on this whole weird charade. They (Chris honestly) started to defend her degenerate behavior and attack anyone who had even a whisper of negative things to say about her or their relationship. It was like watching a group of awkward, pretty mediocre actors put on a play about them being together. (I’ve hit the text limit now, but there will be more that I will write just after I submit this one though, fear not haha. N, you can either post this now or wait until I submit the rest, it’s up to you.) 1 / ? -🤠
A/N: i was here for a lot of it as well so i do remember some of this. although i did join the fandom shortly after him and juliet got together (i joined like around the time she was on the voice) i literally remember hoping that him and scout would get back together bc juliet just rubbed me the wrong way and i didn't know why at the time. & side note i actually do recommend people go look at old videos of andy and scout they were really adorable. there is this one video of them singing (i think a carrie underwood song lol) in the car and it's really cute. but yeah just bc he's older doesn't mean his whole entire personality changes. you can be any age and act however you want. i could even use jenna marbles & julien solomita (a youtube couple) as an example, they've been together for i think like 8 or 9 years and are about the same age as A&J (julien being around andy's age & jenna around juliet's age) & although they can have mature adult conversations and all of that, they still act like idiots and joke around together. neither of them look uncomfortable or are afraid of saying certain things like andy is around juliet. so andy aging doesn't mean shit in regards to his personality doing a 180.
🤠okay, so part two here we go. (Also I apologize if I get the chronological order of anything I talk about incorrect, I’m a bit scattered sometimes and the next ask I make will be the one where I talk about the domestic abuse and I tend to get quite heated, which only makes my brain function worse lol) so the point at which Andy was trying to get fans to go vote for/ support Juliet when she was on the voice seemed really fishy. I’m all for supporting the work of the people you love, but it’s kinda strange how hard Andy was pushing this at the time. Too hard in my opinion. I’m obviously aware that it was helpful in the end and he more or less got what he was asking for. But it was like he absolutely needed people to vote for her. As if he would get in trouble if they didn’t. So around 2012 or 2013 it felt like things really went down the shitter from there and just got progressively worse. (I never knew why for the longest time, but after they revealed that Vegas wedding that happened in about that time frame, it made a lot of sense.) Andy’s behavior began to change towards his fans. There are a lot of accounts of this happening from fans themselves and a lot of people said that 1. It was worse with Juliet around, and 2. a lot of the time it would happen towards females especially. ( I think more towards the “pretty” fans but don’t count me on that, I don’t know for sure.) This was completely night and day. Especially coming from the same man who used to always defend his fans and once stated something along the lines of he would never have a crazy or awkward fan story because he loves and is grateful for all of his fans and he won’t get upset if they’re just really excited. I would understand if these fans crossed the line in some way (like the later incident of fans finding his address and harassing them, which is unacceptable no matter who the people are) but from most if not all of the fan stories I’ve heard, they didn’t. They were being respectful and didn’t do anything to warrant this happening to them besides showing up. Which brings me to my next point, a lot of these negative experiences were caused by Juliet. Either she was the one being mean to people, she was causing Andy to be mean to people on her behalf, or her presence was upsetting Andy to the point that he was angry and started being rude and irritable. What scares me the most are the accounts of Andy having a whole Jekyll and Hyde thing, depending on weather or not Juliet was present. Happy when he’s free of her and miserable when he isn’t. In videos of him where Juliet is behind the camera he always seems nervous and strange. Like he’s afraid to mess up. That’s fucking alarming to say the least. You would think that the last thing one would want to do if another person brings them this much anger, stress, and anxiety, the LAST thing they would want to do is fucking marry them. Right? He literally started barely smiling at one point and really doesn’t anymore. I mean for Christ’s sake look at his wedding photos. What’s suppose to be one of the happiest moments of your life and to quote another anon with a different ask, he looks like he’s being dragged to the gallows. (And I get really fucking Angry honestly when snakeys tries to pass it off as “oh he’s awkward he doesn’t know how to smile” or “omg he’s being dramatic for the aesthetics” in some pictures, yes. But why the fuck would you look like that in pictures with the “love of your life” who you now regularly write cringy paragraphs publicly professing your love and complete adoration for? Andy knows how to smile genuinely. Ffs he used to. He smiled genuinely when he was a kid, he smiled genuinely with scout, and he smiled genuinely when Juliet wasn’t around. He doesn’t smile when she is there, and if he does, it is pretty much always visibly fake.) So I may backtrack a little later, but right now I want to talk about the fact that Juliet IS an abuser. More specifically, the plane incident. (Word limit. TBC.) 2 / ? -🤠
A/N: yes. 100%. when it comes to the wedding photos i will never understand people (specifically snakeys) writing off his behavior as him "just being dramatic for the aesthetics". is that something he would do in photoshoots? yeah. is it something he may do on stage? sure. something he would do in an interview? maybe. but candid shots of him on one of the "happiest days of his life"? wtf no. & idk why people think that.
🤠 Just before I start, again, with the pictures, I really don’t think that Andy is enough of a self absorbed egotistical dick that he would actually sit there and put on the whole “miserable tough guy” act in every fucking photo he takes. Ah yes, the infamous plane incident. So straight up, Juliet exposed herself as an abuser, and brought out every bullshit excuse in the book (and made Andy go along with them) to try to cover it up. 1. She was drunk. Honestly this is total bullshit. I say this same thing when people defend cheating or any other degenerate behavior with the excuse of intoxication and I will say it now. Being drunk does not make you a different fucking person. It does not change the thoughts in your head. What it does do is impair your ability to make decisions and judgement skills in general. It’s the same reason why people drive drunk. It’s routine. Its what they would normally do. And because they’re drunk, they can’t see any reason why they shouldn’t do that. Juliet gets drunk, she and Andy fight, she wants to hit him, and because she’s drunk she doesn’t think that she shouldn’t fucking put her hands on him. 2. She hit him in “self defense” and he broke her ribs.(There’s several points I have debunking this) first of all let’s get this out of the way, no one on that plane (including the very real witness who just so happened to be an adult film actress (I think?) who you so love to discount because of it) saw him strike her or even touch her at any time. Two, you are in fucking airplane seats sitting right the fuck next to each other with an armrest in between. It would be pretty fucking hard to break your ribs unless they were made of actual glass, or Andy’s real name is Bruce fucking banner. Bones are surprisingly strong and I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that it’d be damn near impossible for him to do that to you, which brings me to three, if he had broken your ribs you would not be fucking standing up, thrashing around, whining like a little bitch, and oh by the way, continuing to abuse your husband for the second time on that flight. Four, you had a miscarriage. (When I was trying to conceive with my husband it was very difficult. I had two miscarriages before I finally had my son. I’m fully aware of how devastating having one is.) which is why if you are not lying (which I fully believe that Juliet would stoop that low just to get sympathy, especially with this big of a scandal. But I don’t actually have proof of this so I will say that it is just speculation on my part) I don’t fucking care. I am not unsympathetic to her if this did actually happen as I said, however, You do not get to make any excuse for putting your hands on another person out of anger. Ever. I don’t care who you are, I don’t care what kind of stress you are under, I don’t care if you are inebriated in any way and I sure as hell don’t care what the fuck you have between your legs. You do not hurt anyone. Point blank period. Five. You are a woman, you can’t hurt him. This one, actually enrages me. We all know your crusty ass pulled this one out (and threw around trump supporters a few times for good measure) because you know damn well how society and the media views and deals with abusive women. Women can abuse. Women who are shorter or weaker than their target can abuse. The fact that there are people who either don’t know that or don’t agree with that is absolutely baffling. Six. The same (I believe) porn actress. Literally saw you beating your own face with the restraints you had to be put in (which by the way flight attendants only ever use restraints as an absolute last resort when someone becomes a danger to the others on board, so she had to be acting absolutely deranged) to give yourself a bloody nose to claim Andy hit you. Then you proceed to act like a child and tell Andy to call your fucking dad. (Which kinda proves that whole Scientology thing honestly) what in the hell. I stg as long as I am breathing I will never let this go. This is actual fucking domestic abuse. (Word limit TBC.) 3 / ? -🤠
A/N: yeah her hitting him "bc she was drunk" was never a good excuse not only for the reasons you mentioned but, also bc let's be real at no point are you ever going to get served enough alcohol on a plane to make you that drunk i don't care what anyone says. also when it comes to the excuse of him "breaking her ribs" does she forget that andy actually did break his ribs a while ago? i think she even visited him when he was recovering so she should know what kind of pain he was in. & if he actually broke her ribs, there's no way she would have even been able to stand bc i know andy sure wasn't able to. he said it was one of the most painful things he's experienced. (i don't think i need to comment on the rest of this. it would just be redundant. you hit the nail on the head with that.)
🤠 I don’t care if it happened just that one time ore more likely is an everyday occurrence. Abuse is abuse and should never be tolerated. Kind of getting away from the plane thing. Andy always seems, as it’s been said on here before, afraid to mess up. Like he might mess up, and make her mad. A common behavioral pattern in abuse victims. He also at this point and for a decent amount of time before, doesn’t seem like he loves her anymore. Like he keeps up appearances and pretends, but it’s like it’s a job he’s forced to do. He’s tired and burnt out but was probably manipulated into staying and juliet is probably clinging for dear life. Also I don’t know if I’m the only one who thinks this, but I swear, the veganism and sobering up was just a cover up, most likely formed by either Juliet herself or her fucked up family, after the plane incident to hide their tracks and regain some public favor (because you know, if you advocate for animal rights then you can’t abuse your husband 🙃) Andy never gave a shit before though. Even though it was unhealthy he loved to drink and smoke and was very outspoken about that. And he used to never give a fuck about eating meat or consuming animal products like leather. I mean they’re still selling leather goods ffs. I would get having minor fuck ups because you don’t know any better, but it’s fucking leather. And now Andy is unhealthy and miserable as ever, but the culprit is malnourishment and Juliet rather than cigs, alcohol, and Juliet. My final thoughts: I do definitely believe in the Scientology theory, but if not that than I definitely believe that Andy was and is being manipulated for his fame. On several occasions it really looked like they broke up, including the time when they did, and then said it was a joke. It really doesn’t feel normal. Also, Juliet doesn’t really care about Andy that much. She never wears her wedding ring, she sells all their shit, including sentimental items, and now that she’s gained more popularity from being with him, suddenly doesn’t want to put him in her bio or write him the same creepy ass paragraphs or anything. It’s fucked up how shes so keen to say she did it all herself when really she’s been riding dick for fame since before she even met Andy. It also always kinda seemed to me that Amy was kind of uncomfortable around Juliet. We all know that Chris loves to kiss her ass night and day (most likely to do with the Scientology thing “if” it’s true), but Juliet and Amy always seemed to have a weird relationship like it was tense and forced. Also I just want to mention the time that Juliet talked about screaming at the woman over what I believe was a game night and brushed it off as being competitive and no one gave damn. Fucked up. To finish off this already way too long little series, I think Andy is a very vulnerable insecure person who got manipulated by several people (not just Juliet) some of whom he probably really trusted, and they helped to get him in Juliet’s (equally if not more insecure) hands so she could hurt him as she pleases. I truly hope that even now both he, and his parents (even though Chris really grinds my gears) can get out of this whole shit show, relatively unscathed. I know this is probably pretty unlikely, but hope springs eternal I guess. As I said feel free to ask any questions you may have and I will try to answer them best I can. Thank you for reading. 4 / 4 -🤠
A/N: yet again you hit the nail on the head with this part so i don't need to comment too much. other than the fact that i do agree that juliet and amy's relationship does seem weird.

My First Destiel Fic, vol.5
Tumblr media
Thank you guys for sharing your memories! My First Destiel Fic is a nostalgic survey open to any destiel fan and has a simple goal - to celebrate fics that were our gateway into a wonderful world of destiel shipping. Thank you, fic writers, you are our heroes!
from @chamomilecas
hi! i joined this fandom in mid 2017, so just before season 12 came out! the first deancas fic i ever read was actually t&s (ik ik) but since it’s v.ooc imo id like to suggest the second and third fics i ever read!
shortskirts verse - twentysomething (on ao3) first hs/college au i read and tbh i don’t remember much apart from it being super sweet and well written!
waves - wormstaches (on ao3) i think everyone has heard of this au tbh and my god it is amazingly written! also features pan!cas in a lot of ugly sweaters (which i love sm and reminds me a lot of myself eheh) basically these fics made me addicted to the college au genre till this day lolol - as well as pan!cas representation !!
All fic titles link directly to the fic, when possible, we have added link to our review or submitted rec post.
Twist and Shout by gabriel & standbyme [NC-17, 97,500 word count, posted 2012] (our review)
What begins as a transforming love between Dean Winchester and Castiel Novak in the summer of 1965 quickly derails into something far more tumultuous when Dean is drafted in the Vietnam War. Though the two both voice their relationship is one where saying goodbye is never a real truth, their story becomes fraught with the tragedy of circumstance. In an era where homosexuality was especially vulnerable, Twist and Shout is the story of the love transcending time, returning over and over in its many forms, as faithful as the sea.
Shortskirts Verse by twentysomething [NC-17, 22,400 word count, posted 2011] (our review)
So, they're in high school, and then they're in college, and it's mostly not about Taylor Swift, except when it is.
Waves by wormstaches [M, 54,100 word count] (our review)
Dean Winchester is the average guy: football, college, kid brother, nice car, girls and beer; his life is black and white, that is until he meets Castiel Collins: pretentious, slutty, sweater-wearing genius, who won’t even take the time to look up at him from his obscure novel while he insults him. And then everything is shades of gray and Dean is drowning.
from @candy-gothic
My first fic was 300 Things by cautionzombies. I can't remember when I read that but im sure it's not that long since I only started reading fanfictions around 2013-2014. It was my gateway in the world of fanfictions. I started watching SPN around that time too. Such shame it's not in ao3 anymore (or is it?) bc i really want to reread it again.
300 Things by cautionzombies [NC-17, 76,500 word count] (our review) NOTE - the fic is indeed deleted from the hosting platforms by the author. This is our gentle reminder to always download your favorite fic and leave nice comments to the authors!
Dean’s life at twenty-four makes him feel like he’s forty–he works two jobs to help pay bills for his house and put his genius little brother through private school, and has spent six years (on and off, let’s be honest) working on his mechanical engineering degree at KU. With so much of his life devoted to his family, Dean has little time in his schedule for class and no time for social interaction. Then, while getting his classes together for the fall, he finds himself in a do-or-die situation: He must take his last literature class now, his spring already filled with those left for his major…except that none of the English classes will fit his schedule.
from @obsessedkuroi
So, hey, saw the request. I've sorta been hovering around the fandom since...maybe 2009? 2010? I know I caught up on the first 4/5 seasons in a blitz of a couple weekends of binging and crying during my college days, and then went sobbing to ffnet (ah, AO3, not yet around at the time) to find Destiel fics to comfort myself with. After all this time, Tripping by Hatteress is one fic I still come back to reread. That, and the little additions. It's one of the few fics I think did an insane amount of justice to Dean as he is in Canon, repressed emotions and all. A second one...I suppose, as Christmas has just passed, this short gem of emotion is perfect for the season. It's called Where The Sea and City Meet by RC_McLachlan and it still makes me tear up reading it.
If you ever want any more old school Destiel fics (like, back from 2008-2010, when I dived headfirst into the fandom) hit me up. I have an entire google doc filled with just Destiel recs I made for a friend eight years ago. Thanks for all the fic recs! I'm way out of the loop on Destiel fics these days, I dropped out of being an active member of the fandom some six years ago and just recently got dragged kicking and screaming back in (and rewatching the series from the beginning cause I'm a masochist)
Kuroi
Tripping by hatteress [NC-17, 49,000 word count, Tripping Verse has 6  works and 76,600 word count, posted 2012] (our review)
What do you do when the Universe itself seems to have decided you belong with your very stoic, very angelic, very MALE hunting companion? Dean’s about to find out.
Where the Sea and City Meet by RC_McLachlan [M, 3,000 word count, posted 2010]
Castiel risked his life by going back to 1982 to find Dean's Christmas gift, and all Dean got him was a coat.
If you enjoyed the fic, please drop by the archive (AO3) and let the author know with your comments and/or kudos! And if you found our recs useful, let us know by Liking and/or Reblogging our posts!
You can find all My First Destiel Fic posts under this tag!

is it 2013 again? cause i have a rant about teen wolf coming and i feel 16 y/o.
so due to dome heavy procrastination I've consumed a lot of teen wolf content, i skipped a bunch of episodes and a lot of scenes in the ones i haven't but i still have some Thoughts TM
it's good??? i had a Good Time watching, it was funny but intense and dark and i felt Feelings watching, some of the plotlines were meh (or maybe i just skipped them heh) but a lot were interesting and i loved the characters and their interaction
scott. my sweetheart. my baby. such a cutiepie, such a great protagonist 10/10 i love him and would die for him. he's so pure and cute and his little smile melts my heart. i love how he's fundamentally Human no matter how non human he is. he's a great character all around and i kinda wish they didn't do that shit to him at the end (imma get there) or treated him like he ISN'T the protagonist for such big parts of the shows
people KNOW. Stiles knows from day one, allison finds out soon, his mom finds out in season 2! the sheriff in 3, and they just become part of the gang and can help them with stuff bc they UNDERSTAND. shows like that get really tiring when the teens constantly lie to everyone around them and it was very refreshing. the running gag with the coach ruining things tho was funny and I'm ok with it.
Ok this is mellisa appreciation time. she's SUCH a great, complex and unusual mom-of-hero character. i absolutely love her and her attitude, i love how she's not simply being used as a tool to cause scott pain (just.. sometimes) and their relationship is parenting goals.
also isn't it fucking hilarious how she's a nurse but she just knows everything medical. she's also a surgeon and a mortician and a doctor. ik it's for plot reasons but it funny af.
in general women on the show.. had a lot of potential, i love them, but i hate how they were treated.
allison was all around great imo, her and scott's relationship was built very well and was two sided from the start (unlike... yeah), she has emotions, she's smart and brave, but also human and scared, she kicks ass and, again, exists outside of Scott's GF status (mostly). andddd they killed her. idk if the actress had to/wanted to leave or it was a pure writers decision bc they needed to keep just her father or something, but that would have been ok if not for all the other things
we have 3 main kickass ladies with powers- lydia, kira and malia. lydia spent close to FIVE whole seasons not knowing anything about her abilities/not knowing how to control them. cmon, it gets old. scott masters his powers after a season or two (and had control a lot sooner), parrish finds out what he is like half a season after it becomes relevant etc.
malia- do i need to explain? she was CONSTANTLY struggling controlling her abilities, no matter how badass she supposedly was. and kira oh boy, they did her dirty, didn't they?
kira was such a cute adorable character. i loved her and her little crush on scott and wanting to make friends and being freaked out about relationships, i love her discovering her past and heritage and learning to fight and gaining control and becoming a badass. but. what? they just undid all this? oh no the fox is taking over she has no control no agency of her own she needs to disappear for years now bye :( again, idk if the actress needed to leave but it was so unsatisfying and was insulting to the character. she wasn't even mentioned later a bunch like allison was, just they needed her mom for a plot tool and didn't even acknowledge it was her sword they were breaking. uhm rude?
LET WOMEN HAVE POWERS AND BE AWESOME WITH THEM. and not just minor/bad characters thanks.
i love the concept of a pack on the show and how you don't have to be a werewolf to be a part of it, how scott becomes a true alpha and how he cares about his friends. i kinda feel like in later seasons him being an alpha was more talk than show which like /: meh. like i said, he stopped BEING the main character, just talked about as if he was.
i love how friendship is valued, but i think it could be more.. i mean the scene in the motel, all season 3b, scott and lydia, all the girls with each other.. i love it. too many times tho it "wasn't enough" and only romantic love worked which SUCKS. in 6a i was so happy scott went in to try and remember stiles and the memories hit me right in the heart. then when it "wasn't enough" i was SO pissed and frustrated goddammit. i guess that leads me to the next point-
ships, should i talk about ships? i don't want hate in my asks but oh well it's been a few years maybe there's no fandom to care. I'll start with the end
malia and scott. what. the. fuck. when, out of fucking no where, they had like a lingering look or something i was just "nope. no thanks". and then every scene they had together i had to cover my eyes bc it felt so wrong and bad and awkward. jesus. no build up at ALL, they're like family, i just. ew. no. it felt way too much like "oh we gotta pair off the leftovers" or "the main character can't end up single" well guess what, he fucking can. it was. god. i can't even explain the disgust. when he needed to heal and all she had to do was kiss him ugh. it felt so fake and empty of meaning. i would 100% prefer for it to be stiles (I'll get there) or his mom who snapped him out of it.
melissa and chris, i could get aboard with that. def cute, def weird af since his dead daughter was dating her son but, well.
stiles and lydia is a ship i have conflicting feelings about. i absolutely hate the concept of "the nerd" is in love with the popular girl since freshman year and he's borderline being a creep ("oh but it's stiles! he's a dork and he's harmless" no.), completely obsessed with her and she ignores him but then they end up getting together.. i mean, it sends a bad msg to obsessed boys about how it's worth it in the end, and it makes the whole relationship feel unbalanced from the start, makes her reciprocation feel unatural. BUT, i have to admit the show did kinda make me warm up to this ship by the end, curse them. it was kinda cute. i wish there was more mutualness before it became such an important part in 6a tho.
just gonna put it out there: malia/kira and lydia/allison. i wish we saw more girl on girl interactions in general but the ones we had were very good, great dynamics.
i won't get too much into it but i.. i don't ship st*rek. i understand why they're the biggest ship (two white hot boys that interact with each other, i mean.), and i see the couple of fan service-y moments the show throws at us but just. they don't have my heart, i don't really care about them. not the characters, the characters i absolutely love! (tho this watch i skipped most of season 1 and 2 and 3a and i think that's where derek is the most asshole.. didn't he do really bad things? idr) idk if you want a bad character on the way to redemption with someone you should ship liam and theo who had way better shippy chemistry imo, even tho their ship probably wouldn't be healthy given their dynamic history, huh.
the ship that does owns my heart? scilies. I'm a softy when it comes to best friends to lovers, and their bond and relationship is just. so. pure. don't get me wrong, i love me a good platonic relationship, but there was just one to many homoerotic interactions between them for me not to ship it, hard. (not to be that person but my guess is that if Scott was white it would have been a way bigger ship, but who knows?) i love their love, i love they would do anything for each other, and i feel like there were a bunch of very missed opportunities for them in later seasons :(
so representation. this feels like a show that is trying to be Woke TM but it's not going so well. the main character is supposedly latino but it's never ever addressed. idc about "oh we want a world without prejudice" you can still fucking address it. i mean they went to Mexico a couple of times, stiles keeps saying "Mexican cousin" i mean. god. give us something. did i mention scott was told he'd make a great "nazi youth" ..
and you don't need to be a genius to see the most characters are very white or at least very white passing. and when you don't address their non whiteness they might as well be..
i already mentioned how poorly i feel kira was treated, but also mason, who is a wonderful character, gets no depth? we know nothing about him other than being gay and smart pretty much.
i also spoke about the women already but, they were really really great women characters, but not enough of them, not enough that lasted.
there's not much to talk about disability bc it just wasn't on the show. the only blind character was healed which. /: same with epilepsy and asthma..
i think the show is probably very proud (ha) with their LGBTQ+ rep bc they're like "oh let's make this insignificant couple gay bc hey nbg". examples are lydia's grandma, La Bete and marcel, i think nolan and jiang were exes and then nolan and gabe were a thing? idr if it was explicit. the couple of girls in the tent.. probably a couple more. it's nice, def better than all random couples being straight but that's not satisfying as rep.
Danny was great. i think he and ethan were.. cute? i think he was awesome, i loved danny so much and was very excited to learn he KNOWS at the end of season 3 and was waiting to see him join the pack. instead he fucking disappeared?! wtf. #WhereDidDannyGo
brett was cute rep, especially being bi but i feel like it could go into the insignificant pool which, again, is better than nothing.
mason and corey i just don't have strong feelings about. they were definitely cute and I'm glad they were together, i love mason A Lot. i think this relationship could be explored more, or at least the characters could be explored more to give this relationship more depth.
very interesting how there's no wlw canon couple, not even hinted. just fan servicey hot malia kira dance which /:
not to mention transgenderness. god can you imagine the interesting plotline of transitioning while being a werewolf 0:
i think the rep i was most happy about was ethan and Jackson. even tho i don't think there was build up or clues in the first couple of seasons, I'm happy for the actor who i know was struggling with coming out publicly, and it was very fun and refreshing for the ending. even if we got very few scenes with them the dynamic was 10/10
the biggest problem is obviously stiles. i just don't understand why, if they're so supposedly progressive, they went to that length to queerbait without following through. the whole gag of wanting to be attractive to danny and to gay guys, the whole "aww danny want to have sex with me that's so nice", the whole "do you like guys too?". it's a gag. his alleged bisexuality is the butt of a joke, and it pisses me the fuck off. they don't have to make it a big deal or have him get a bf for it to be official. it wasn't subtle subtext. it was a CHOICE. to put a spotlight on his sexuality but not deliver. -100/10 would not recommend.
also they could talk about his mental health more.
and about Scott's, please and thank you.
and everyone's.
i had some more feelings, like villains changing sides without getting a proper redemption and having no consequences, the wholesomeness of the sherriff and mellisa being each other's kids second parent eichen house (wtf??), and more, but i think i wrote enough for now.
tl;dr- good show with A Lot of problems, will always have a place in my heart bc I'm a nostalgic gal.

Best Non-Studio Hanson Tracks
(In no particular order)
Troublemaker - Billboard’s Mashup Mondays Sessions // This is definitely a favorite. It sounds nothing like the original and I think that’s a good thing? I like the original, don’t get me wrong, but this is like a whole different song and I love that fact so much. Go in with an open mind, there are some... interesting, I think is a good word. Interesting lyric changes, but it’s not enough to ruin the song.
Kiss Me When You Come Home - Tay’s Music Exchange // This song was one of my favorites already, but this version is so much closer to the way I remember hearing the song at the Stand Up, Stand Up EP recording. It’s a little bit more calming than the studio version, but doesn’t sacrifice the wonderful piano solo in the process of stripping it down.
Hey - Underneath Acoustic // Why is this not on YouTube????? This is far superior to the album version, even if you only base it off that bit with the jump to a higher note near the end that ISN’T INCLUDED IN THE STUDIO VERSION, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING HANSON?????
Strong Enough To Break - Strong Enough To Break // This one took some thought, I almost equally love the Underneath Acoustic version. The deciding factor was that this version showcases their voices just that much more. There’s something about the more stripped down sound it has, as well as the abrupt ending, that resonates with me in a way other versions of this song don’t.
Runaway Run - Chicago, IL 10-13-2013 // I’m so bummed that I didn’t have the chance to experience this one in person, but thanks to some amazing fans, it’s available to listen to on YouTube. This is the best version of this song, in my opinion. It’s got all the beauty of the Underneath Acoustic Live version, but somehow it’s better? I’m a sucker for songs that showcase Tay’s piano playing and this is an amazing example of why.
Gimme Some Lovin’/Shake A Tail Feather - Live From Albertane // Hanson are the kings of good opening songs, and this is a top tier example. The way they manage to amp up the crowd, the adlibs, and the way they manage to make the two songs work so well together, get me every time. Also, I challenge any fan to listen and not say the “It is great to be here in Seattle” bit along with Taylor.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Razorblade - The Best Of Hanson: Live & Electric // I’m still bummed this song never made it onto one of their main studio albums but this version makes up for a lot. The piano breakdown is something I didn’t know I needed until I heard it, and Taylor whining his way through the adlibs gives me a very specific brand of life.
Something Going Round - Anthem: Live In New York // Okay I love every single live version of this song I’ve ever heard but this is a standout. Not only are the boys completely on point (Zac’s drumming makes me so hyped up I want to take on world hunger by myself), the audience gives 110% when it’s their turn to sing. I blast this song in the car and hope people hear it and wonder “Who is this band that has such a cool fanbase?”
Thinking Of You - 5 Of 5 // This song has stood the test of time, and this version just shows how their voices dropping was the exact opposite of the problem critics were predicting way back when. This one shows that you don’t need to change a song to make it just as good 13 years after release.
Me Myself And I - String Theory // This song was amazing to begin with (if you don’t believe me, @changecanbebittersweet has talked about it already), but this version is even better. First of all, the fact that they re-recorded the vocals so it’s split between all three brothers, adds depth I wasn’t expecting. Additionally, the song’s pacing is better. While I loved it originally, having the same vocalist sing so many verses made it feel longer; this version just *feels* like a perfect length. Secondly, this song feels like it was written to have the orchestra and somehow it was released as a demo by mistake on Shout It Out. The strings are just so flawlessly integrated it makes you wonder why you didn’t realize it needed strings in the first place.
On The Rocks - The Walk Acoustic Live // I had a discussion once about this song, and without my prompting, the other person made the comment of this being the superior version. I had been nagging people about that opinion for a long time prior to that conversation and I’m still thrilled someone else gets the perfection of this track. There’s just something about how Zac sings “We’re gonna fight” that gives me chills every single time I hear it.
Use Me Up - Stand Up, Stand Up EP // I’ve had so many conversations about why I only listen to this version and they all boil down to two things: 1) the simplicity makes the song and 2) there’s one tiny little lyric change that ended up happening in the Shout It Out version that changed how the song hits and I refuse to give up this version.
Dirrty - Underneath Acoustic 2003 Tour // I don’t have anything to say about this except that it’s fucking hot and I would pay so much money to hear a full version of it.
Thinking ‘bout Somethin’ - ABC Greatest Hits // This one is perfect ‘cause Echosmith brought something to the table that I didn’t even realize was needed until I heard it. Also the video is adorable, Sydney of Echosmith just seems so happy to be playing with Hanson and I love it.
Hold On I’m Coming - National Post Music // While I’m sad that Zac wasn’t able to sing as much for this performance, the other boys doing his parts ended up sounding amazing. Also, I’m a sucker for the little interaction between Zac and Tay when Tay hits that high note.
Summertime Blues - Japan // This is amazing but I think I’d rather use this space to talk about how funny I find it that they sang this (very American, omg the lyrics are about the struggle of American teenagers) song for something recorded in Japan????? Why, Hanson?????
Lost Without You - Anthem: Live In New York // This song puts me in a very indescribable mindset, and I think part of what I love about this version is that the ending pulls me back to reality in the best way possible. The “I could be the one that you’re holding on to” outro just makes this version for me.
Where’s The Love - String Theory // Holy harmonies, Batman. As @tragic---love said, this song got the best glow up of all the songs from this album. I also think this falls into the same category as Thinking Of You for “songs that have stood the test of time”; this version takes a song that’s still amazing, and somehow makes it BETTER.
Waiting For This - Stand Up, Stand Up EP // I’m not sure why I prefer this version to the Shout It Out version, but I do. Maybe it’s the energy? I think this one feels more positive than the studio version? I’m not sure but I listen to this one almost exclusively. I also say the “You can’t deny it until you try it” bit every time I hear any version of it, you can pry those lyrics from my cold, dead hands.
Cecilia - Albany, NY 10-16-2009 // Even with almost the entire tour being sick with the flu, this performance was amazing. I had the good fortune of being at this show (the linked video is my footage), and I still listen to this one a lot. I’m realizing as I read this back to edit it, I’m Team Hanson Singing Older Folk Songs.
Teach Your Children - Underneath Acoustic Live // There’s something about the harmonies in the second verse that gives me chills every single time I hear this song. There’s also the added personal bit where this is the song that turned my mother into a fan.
Underneath - Underneath Acoustic // WHY DID THEY DITCH THE HARMONICA ON THE STUDIO VERSION?????????????? I literally can’t stand the studio version, but this version is one of my favorite Hanson songs of all time. I also need to draw attention to how amazing they sound when they sing “something missing”, it’s like I’m in the horrible relationship, they sing it with so much emotion.
Rip It Up - Underneath Acoustic Live // I need more Ike singing old school rock ‘n’ roll more often, this song is a blessing and I’m grateful for it on the daily.
Breaktown - Leaked Demo // I have talked about this before, but I’ll forever be bitter that this wasn’t released with Underneath, Taylor’s voice was absolutely perfect for it at that point and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to this one over the years.
Madeline - Middle Of Nowhere Acoustic // There’s a place in my heart reserved only for the ending “woah”s of this song, and getting to hear them in the stripped down, more mature, version made me so happy. This song was so well written to begin with, and they make it even better when they play it acoustically, and this performance is the best example of that fact.
Save Me - Anthem: Live In New York // I love the piano driven sound of this track, and this performance just emphasized that part of it. I also love the “yeah” that Tay adds after the second “yes I’m wrong” for some reason, catch me singing it passionately alone in my room at 3 am.
Crazy Beautiful - Underneath Acoustic Live // #BringBackThisVersionOfCrazyBeautifulNextTour
Good Lovin’ - Jack Frost Soundtrack // I have heard other bands cover this song and every time it pales in comparison to this performance. It’s short but it never feels short? And I end up in such a good mood after listening to it.
Magic Carpet Ride - At The Fillmore // I remember coming across more recent performances of them doing this song and I’m forever disappointed ‘cause this recording just had something about it that they haven’t recaptured on recent tours. If you watch the video, there’s a girl in a white tank top, going balls-to-the-wall throughout the whole song, and I just relate so much.
With You In Your Dreams - 5 Of 5 // When Taylor talked about how they pictured this song with a choir, I was skeptical at first but holy crap the audience vocals just make it that much better. I also get chills when Zac yells “Like you mean it!” every damn time.

happy #rkfifth !
Tumblr media
i told myself i wasn’t going 2 do this b/c ... i’m lazy bean, but here we are anyway! let’s get it!
but anyways starting off rookies was kind of like a vacation to me, rp wise. before rk i had my own rp that lasted a while but during 2013, there was just some drama between members that i constantly had 2 deal with and honestly it was like ... dragging me down, making admining seem like a chore and i loathed logging on to the main b/c i knew there would be some shit w/ these certain people that i had to deal with. so seeing rk in the tags being a different kind of idol roleplay ( and shout out rk for being a trendsetter ) /and/ the fact that reserves were filling up so quickly for a new rp, i quickly sent in a muse.
and it was a little ... idk at first. i did feel out of place considering most came from a different rp in the beginning and i wasn’t, and on top of me being v awkward w/ talking 2 people on instant messengers, there was a bit of time where i felt like i didn’t fit in and almost dropped like 2 weeks after i joined, LOL. luckily at the time a lot of things were going on which helped w/ plotting and meeting new muses, and everyone was super friendly and nice and that’s what kept me here!!!
so then rk turned from a vacation you didn’t want to leave from -- i ended up slagging off p majorly on my responsibilities as an admin at my own rp for a while because i was having such a good time at rk -- it rly brought back my love for rp and muse and tbh if you look back at rksunyoung’s archive back in 2013 - early 2014, i don’t think i’ve ever written as much on tumblr as i did back then, LOL. rk has definitely had it’s ups and downs and i’ve dropped both of my muses before -- but it wasn’t too long before i was bringing them back because there really isn’t a place like rk within krp. that, along with the dedication between both members and admins, is why it’s lasted so long and is still thriving with a super active dash after five fucking years. that’s crazy!! i think i remember mei saying something similar on twitter -- but when i see old rp friends and they ask “omg ur /still/ at rk???”
so it’s obvious to see why this rp went from feeling like a vacation to a home, right?? it’ll always have a special place in my heart  ♡
anyways moving on to my characters too -- when i first brought rksunyoung, now miss rkxblue, i never thought that she would last more than a couple of months, much less be involved with so many things within rk’s history!! it’s ... p wild to think about, especially since i’m someone that has a hard time committing to hobbies and such. it’s been a fun ride watching her go from someone who was wild and reckless and had a problem with love and a little bit of anger issues to someone whos a lot more well rounded, a soft idiot LOL. she even finally got herself the sweetest boyfriend after four years of being shipless on the rp, which i still can’t wrap my head around because denying herself love and believing that it doesn’t exist was one of her /things/ for the longest time. the list of stuff she’s done is so long and now that it’s lead to her finally debuting it’s ... scary yet exciting for her, to be honest, she thought she’d be a trainee forever!! i’ve had a lot of ups and downs with her muse as well, to the point where there was like years ( i think ) of inactivity on my end and she should have 4238972389 more points than she does atm because of that. i do feel sorry for her b/c that was just me being lazy ofc, but in the end i’ve gotten my shit together on her and have been pumping out replies p consistently this year and plotting w/ trainees which has done wonders for her muse. and although hyomin was literally /the/ perfect fc for her considering her personality, the fc change 2 yura has also helped majorly with my muse and it’s been so much easier to plot and reply and even with her characterization too.
as for miss rknvna!! she hasn’t had as much development as sun, aside from her tumultuous rls with a former song minho and being a royal trainee during her first run, and that’s mainly been due to my laziness again jfkafl;a. the good thing tho is that i’ve finally been able to experience life as a rookie with her, considering the times my girls have become trainees were v quick ( sun’s first time was like a week or two after the rp opened, then 3 months after i rejoined w/ her, and nana became a trainee only a month after she joined the first time ) so it was nice to experience the freedom that came with being a rookie!! since 2018 has been sun’s year, i’m going to focus on nana for 2019 so that she can branch out more!!
i guess before i move on i should give shoutouts to all my other rkmuses throughout the years whose lives were so short that i can’t even remember their urls LOL -- my song jieun, park kyungri, goo hara, and choi jinri muses!! i’m sure there’s at least one more that i’m forgetting, but they all lasted around 2 weeks so...
but i also want 2 thank rk for allowing me to be more social as well!! i’ve said this in the last anniversary post i wrote 25238957 years ago but i used 2 have a phobia of sorts when it came 2 instant messengers, so i didn’t rly have one when msn was popping and therefore, didn’t talk 2 many people ooc wise in rps. i made an aim when i came to rk and just ... diving in and talking to people helped out a lot with that, even if i do still get anxious from time to time w/ just simply messaging people. :(
i’m a shy individual ( and for some reason its only exacerbated online??? idk fam ) and unconsciously rather private as well, so that definitely hinders me from making friends as much as i would like to, but it’s a day by day process!! it’s something i’ve come 2 terms w/ as of late and will seriously work on within the next year! but even w/ me being the way that i am, i’ve been able 2 meet a couple of people that have made my experience in rk just a little bit brighter so a ( very brief ) shout out 2 them ~
to maria ( @rkjinkis ) : my sweet angel!!! i’m so glad that rk brought us together because you’ve honestly become one of my closest friends from this rp and in general tbh!! ur so super sweet and caring and a blessing 2 my life, just as much as jinki is to ahyoung’s!! i’m sorry that sun is too independent for her own good but she’s working on it okay!! baby steps!! i love how genuine u are and how we can rely on each other through thick and then, and honestly i want the world for u and more. i love love love LOVE u so much, and i’ll make sure u never forget it!! thank u for being my friend and my source of happiness!!!  ♡ ♡ ♡
to hamin ( @rksoohyun ) : despite the fact that we knew each other from snu it was rk that actually got us 2 start talking and i’m so grateful for that!! u literally are the cutest girl in the entire world and ur just as outgoing irl as u are online; seeing morning musume ( a group i thought i would never see live ) w/ u was truly a highlight in my life!!! and ofc soohyun will forever be nana’s fuckin child and she’ll always be rooting for her happiness!! i love u u sweet buttercup and i can’t wait until ur back so i can talk 2 u again!!!  ♡ ♡ ♡
to mei ( @rkariel ) : man i admired u for the longest b/c i’ve always loved the way u write and ur characterization of tiffany / ariel, so when years ago nick told me that u were actually paying attention to the minana plot and threads i was so shook i nearly tripped over myself LMFAO. i’m happy that we actually started talking b/c of that tho!!! it’s so easy 2 write w/ u and i honestly have so much fun regardless if we’re just talking about our characters, getting carried away on dash or twitter, or hurting each other w/ headcanons!! ariel has become nana’s rock p much and w/o her i’m not sure how she would of fared her time w/ mino w/o her and their discussions!!! i hope that we can become closer in the future!!
to razel ( @rkcheri ) : hiya boo!!! ik we don’t rly talk anymore but i still wanted 2 mention u b/c u were one of my first friends in rk when i felt kinda lonely, and that was definitely one of the reasons i was able to stick around!! i loved writing w/ u b/c ur writing style was always so unique that i could actually point u out whenever we were in past rps together and it’s an honor 2 even write w/ u fjkalf;a. i’m sorry that sun is such a shitty friend and i’m looking forward 2 the day jihyun kicks her ass about not telling her about jinki b/c she deserves it LOL. but just, thank u!!!!
to amy ( @yienrk ) : are u surprised ur on here?? HAHA we don’t talk too much either but i do appreciate u checking up on me whenever i’m down and just generally being supportive and nice!!! also i’m in awe about how knowledgeable u are about idols in general ( i remember one of our first convos being about how sixteen came 2 be and the collapse of all of jype’s trainees and such ) and i love yien and nana’s supportive relationship too!! i can’t wait 2 see how they develop, and i hope 2 get closer 2 u in the future!! ; u ;
to eclipse girls ( @rkariel , @rkaudrey , @rkhaseul , @rkjennie , @rkyeri ) sun couldn’t of asked 2 debut w/ a better group of girls and i’m so glad that they harmonize w/ each other so well!! i’m excited 2 see what debuting brings for them!!  ♡ ♡ ♡
and a shoutout 2 snu crew too ( piper / hoonji, nanu, @rksang, @rktomu, @rksoohyun , @rkjinhwan94, @rkpcy ) : even tho ik majority of u probably won’t see this i’m still tagging and talking about y’all anyway!!! i have so much fun reminiscing w/ u guys whenever we can, and i’m happy that i’ve grown closer too u all as well!! i’m sorry i was such a shit admin back in the day, and what brought y’all together was bad circumstances, but i’m glad it’s something that we can all look back on and laugh at now. i miss being together w/ all of u at once but i hope y’all are doing okay!!!!  ♡ ♡ ♡
and naturally, the admods too!!! thank u guys for putting up w/ all my shit whenever i was in a slump or i sent in points late or fucked up the points ( honestly kyle u are such an angel for real LOL ), and for just keeping the rp in tip top shape!!! ur the back bone of rk and we couldn’t of made it this far w/ each and every one of u and ur contributions and dedication 2 the rp!!! i’m super proud of u guys and am proud 2 call u my admins!!!!  ♡
and ofc shoutout 2 everyone that i’ve ever plotted and threaded w/ in the past and present -- i’m super shit at replying 2 those in general so thank u for being patient w/ me even though i don’t deserve it. i don’t know how else 2 end this b/c i’m also super shit at ending things so uh.... happy fifth year anniversary rk!!! here’s to many more!!!

DEMA Theory - Twenty One Pilots.
ik some of you may be like “why is all this cryptic shit all over my feed” and stuff like that , but i think this may clear some confusion and this is my whole idea.
on 4/21/18 i went on http://dmaorg.info/ and the following message displays.
“ 404 ER_ROR
you are in violation. thEy mustn't know you were here. no one should ever find out About this. you can never tell anyone about thiS -- for The sake of the others' survIval, you muSt keep this silent. we mUst keeP silent. no one can know. no one can know. no o ne c an kn ow_
(Violation Code. 15398642_14) “
on this website we discovered that all of the capital letters spell “EAST IS UP”
we also added the following violation code shown above on the website to the following ip address showing us the actual website , where we discovered our next amount of information.
http://dmaorg.info/found/15398642_14/clancy.html
on the above website there are a bunch of images and text , which we will discuss some things we have found out based on our resources from the following website.
if you convert 15398642_14 , the violation code , with a unix time stamp converter , you get June 28th , which could possibly be a release date or something like that , maybe the day the full album gets released instead of singles.
the dates above each image are dates of the albums , or birthdays of the boys.
Tumblr media
the date the self titled album was released is above the following picture ,  009 12 Moon 29 , which converts to  Dec 29 2009 , the date that self titled was released. as you can see in the above picture , this appears to be an isle of flightless birds , which is a song in the self titled album. this would be the isle of flightless birds on the tower of silence.
Tumblr media
this picture has the date , 013 01MOON 08 , which converts to  Jan 08, 2013 , the date vessel was released. in the center of the circle , the dots , look like the blurryface logo , but if you zoom in on the dots , you notice that they say letters which translate to lyrics.
ANDRE - and repeat yesterdays dance. - fairly local
LISDEN - all i feel is denial. - polarize
KEONS - choke on smoke. - heavydirtysoul
NIGO - when i got older all my fears would shrink. - stressed out
REISDRO - temperature is dropping. - doubt
SACARVER - shes a carver. - tear in my heart
NILLS - beaten down ill slip away. - goner
VETOMO - will they be alive tomorrow. - lane boy
LISTO - listed people. - ride
all of the following lyrics are lyrics from songs in the blurryface album , and , this looks like blurryfaces album cover , but , the date listed above is the date vessel was released , which is odd and strange.
a couple of other interesting things about this map , the clique flag overlaps it , and the second grouping only has 8 columns , instead on the 9 in the other groupings.
under this image it states “gEt out. the compAss lies. they don't control you. get out. the compaSs lies. They don't control you. get out. the compass lIeS. they don't control yoU.get out. the comPass lies. they don't control you.”
the capitals spell out EAST IS UP.
if you point this map to where east is indeed up , the order of the circles change to the order in the album , in addition to this, the violation code is 15398642_14. the numbers in that order are the same numbers that the blurryface's album art's songs are in the blurryface tracklist.
Tumblr media
this picture has the date ,  011 07MOON 08 , which translates to ,  July 8 2011 , the date regional at best was released. in the picture , it looks like a kid , also connecting it to regional at best , considering there is a kid on the regional at best album cover.
the full picture of this picture has  andre weil on it, mathematitian. who founded this group of mathematicians of 9 people. in the letter two slides below , it says that there are 9 bishops , 9 quadrants , 9 blurryface songs.
Tumblr media
this is dated  988 12Moon 01 , which translates to , december 1st 1998 , tyler josephs birthday. this seems to be some kind of identification card or badge , the title of the image when i downloaded it was “ba_dge.jpg” , which leads me to believe that this is a identification badge of clancy , one of the characters introduced during this album. regional at best baseball field is also on clancy st. the violation code is also on the badge.
Tumblr media
this picture is dated 988 06Moon 18 , which translates to , june 18 , 1998 , which is josh duns birthday. the letter up above reads,  ”The perplexities of the Dema horizon didn't occur to me until my ninth year. It was then that I began to contemplate the existential, and decide what type of impression I wanted my life to make. Naturally, to fuel my hope, I looked out upon the distance of the land that had cultivated me, only this time with new awareness of the obstruction that my youthful ignorance had allowed me to overlook. Was it there the whole time? How had I not seen something so obvious? I am reminded of the moment daily, as the realization directly collides with a unique hope for my own future. As a child, I looked upon Dema with wonder, today, I am wrought with frustration, as I spend each day squninting for a glimpse of the top of the looming wall that has kept us here. It was upon my ninth year that I learned that Dema wasn't my home. This village, after all of this time, was my trap. Before I became realized, I had deep affection for Dema. There was a wonderful structure to the city that put my cares to rest. Streets and locations were dependable, and the responsibilites of the day seemed to be accomplished with minimal effort. Once a task was taught and understood, we delighted in our ability to complete our obligations timely, and felt secure in knowing tomorrow's duties would be accomplished with the same efficiency. We all worked to represent our bishop with honnor, and knew that each inhabitant of our region had a like-minded dedication to consistency. Looms embodied the spirit of this dedication. Of Dema's nine bishops, Keos was reserved as unwavering and forthright, possessing the ability to achieve focus that was rare for most in our region. We all admired his, and felt honored to be inhabitants of his region. While we had heard legend of the ruthlessness of other bishops, Keos possessed a stoic demeanor unlike anyone I had ever met, and we were all proud to serve. - Clancy
also, in the above letter, it says “the perplexities of the dema horizon didn’t occur to me until my ninth year” twenty one pilots formed in 2009, so their ninth year is 2018. this also pushes the idea of clancy being tyler instead of josh , but being a songwriter myself , clancy may not be either of the boys , it may be a created character , but you never do know.
the fact that this was put under josh’s birthday leads me to believe that clancy = josh , also , clancy translates to red warrior , hinting to josh’s old red hair , making him the red warrior.
clancy's journal states that basically keons is the bishop/region clancy likes and all the other circles (the circles represent quadrents under the rule of bishops and also the songs on the bf album art. keons is heavydirtysoul.) are horrible and clancy wants to get the hell out of dodge but cant. he also states that the "west is blocked up"
there is a bit of writing on the website that reads “  sev_ering__tiez “ , if we remember when josh accepted an award at a award show , he said tyler was our “severing ties with dema.” later , this s was changed to a z , then back to an s , once it was changed to an s for the first time ,  a torn off compass on the map that was only obtainable by editing the image was fully removed and currently remains that way.
Tumblr media
this letter was later on added to the mix on 5/9/18. it reads , “ To refer to Dema as m[y] home has never felt accurate. Dema, t[o] me, has simply been the place that I've existed, or, the 'slot' they've put me in. I've heard stories abo[u]t the ide[a] of "home," and its depiction has always seemed warm f[r]om the storyt[e]ller's de[s]cription. [T]here was a romant[i]c ownership of the p[l]ace they inhabited that I admired, but cou[l]d never relate to. Thi[s] place, my p[l]ace, however, s[e]ems devoid of the romance and wond[e]r that the old stories tell. But somewhere between the iron order and fallible [p]recis[i]on of Dema, a hum of wo[n]der exists. It's this quiet wonder that my mind tends to [g]ets lost in. This hope of discovery alone has birthed a new version of myself; A better version, I hope, that will find a way to experience what's beyond these colossal walls. “ the date at the top of this photo is  017 07MOON 07, which translates to july 7 , 2017 . the letters i put in astricts are missing in the letter , as you can see , they spell “YOU ARE STILL SLEEPING.”
Tumblr media
this gif was added on 5/30/18 , as you can see there are letters flashing at the top , when put together these letters spell , " UNSTILLIDONTCKNOWOHISNREALINAMECDOOU? “ this is two messages put together , it translates to “ "U STILL DONT KNOW HIS REAL NAME DO U?” , and the letters in the places of the spaces spell ,  “ "NICO NICO" nico nico niiiii “ the date above the gif is  017 07MOON 16 , which translates to , july 16 , 2017.
the most recent updates to the website seem to corrilate with the lyrics during the tweets of the eye closing ,
polarize - You'll have to come and FIND me.
miss believer - my pretty SLEEPer.
SLOWtown - wouldnt it be great if... etc.
website was FOUND, as in /found in the url.
newest Clancy letter had "you are still sleeping" as in my pretty sleeper.
now that the gif has been uploaded to dma.org we have to SLOW it down [to read the hidden message], as in slowtown.
it was also discovered that two new twenty one pilots songs have been registered. the song titles are "nico and the niners" and "jumpsuit".
Tumblr media
this was added on 6/29/18. the date on the image is , 017 07MOON 17 , and below the image it says ,  " __n_ot_myo_nly_fri_en d " which coralates with truce , adding to the eye closing tweets theory . the date is also the date @blurryface liked a tweet about the tower of dema theory.
an audio was posted to the dma website on 6/29/18 stating pure nonsense , but when pitched up you hear tyler saying “so did they obey you?” or “so did they bury you?” the name of this audio file is  20 18_514_3_8 , which translates to  TR_ENC_H . this would make “ so did they bury you ? “ make alot of sense.
here is a link to the audio https://dmaorg.info/found/trench/clancy.html
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
on 7/1/18 these three items were added to the website , a letter from clancy dated ,  , which translates to july 1 , 2018 , todays date .  a yellow highlight dated , 017 02MOON 12 which translates to february 12 , 2017 , which was the date of the grammy awards , and a gif of a vulture turning its head , also dated ,  018 07MOON 01. when you put the highlight over the letter from clancy you get “ we are band itos “ which translates to , we are banditos.
the clancy letter reads , “  *A lifeless light surrounds us each night. Never could I imagine that something so luminous could feel so dark. It's this glow that reminds us of the dreamless existence we've been sentenced to. But what I call a sentence, others accept as normalcy. How did they so efficiently eradicate the dreams within us? When the bishops instituted Vialism as mandate, they effectively reversed the hope that many arrived with. Am I the only one who realizes that we've been lied to? Am I the only one not afraid of the notion that the nine have hijacked our trust, and extinguished the hope that once motivated our existence? We used to close our eyes and picture a better life, now this city is full of dry eyes caught in a trance of obedience, devoid of any trace of an identity. The only significant light I've seen has been in the eyes of those smeared - such a curious sight, to see bright eyes strangled by the darkness of bishop hands. As their penance fades, so dims their memory of something more. My hope of something more is all I have in this rigid tomb, and I will not let it die. “
the audio we were given reversed also says “we are banditos.”
we have all the eye images. the final one was the message man one and today was a double update. today we got kitchen sink, as the vulture blinked (nobody dreams when they blink). and we messed with the message ,man by highlighting the clancy letter to find out we needed to reverse the audio given yesterday to get "we are banditos".
Tumblr media
this was posted 7/6/18 , and titled  "_they_ca_ntseeFCE300.GIF" , it looks to me as if it is a possible music video , or maybe it is clancy using torches to escape the tower of silence , maybe it is a connection to self titled , a car , a torch , a death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these were added 7/8/18 , the first picture is a dead body , and the last picture is a letter from clancy , written on the back of the picture of the dead body , in handwriting now , because clancy has escaped. the ketter reads , “ I've made it out.I feel weightless. I know that place had always held me down, but for the first time, I can feel the unity that I had hoped in. It's been three nights now, and my breathing has changed - it's slower, and more full. It's like the air out here is actually worth taking in.I can see it back in the distance, and I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't constantly on my mind. I wish I could turn that fear off, but maybe the further I go, the less that fear will affect me. I feel betrayed by what I assumed was home. If I ever end up back there, I won't be able to look at it the same way. They are asleep. They're so sure that they know the truth, and carry on throughout their day with the same meaningless tasks. They've forgotten to look up, and to look outward, to understand that this isn't about 'in there.'This is about 'out here.'This new world surrounds me. I used to think the walls back home were massive- these green cliffs engulf me, and place me right in the middle- Trench is quite precarious at times, and it's easy to grow weary. But it's real, and it's true, and I'd much rather endure reality than to mindlessly be obedient to a life that someone else created for me. I've obsessed about this world for so long, that it feels more like home than anything I've experienced. Somehow, in this vast openness, I feel more protected than ever. The landscape feels endless, and I've found myself walking for hours without any true evidence of getting further down. But I've seen plants and colors out here that I'm not sure I've witnessed before. There's a beauty in the strangest places,- and the curiosity of what's next continues to motivate me.I wonder who else is out here. If what i assumed inside is true, there's got to be more like me. Sometimes I'll feel a presence, only to look up and see nothing. It's just another thing that I'm afraid of that also excites me. It all just confirms all of the things that I hoped to be true for all of this time.I am out here and I am very alive. I'm sometimes scared, but always discovering something new, and I will not stop. Cover me! “
this all being said , i expect a return really soon , considering clancy is out , and , this whole entire scheme , the whole entire website is based upon clancy trying to escape the tower of dema , or , the tower of silence. another words , it is twenty one pilots trying to escape the silence , or , hiatus.

so in abt 2017-18, i came across this manga called sneaky red by thanat. most of the 1st volume, translated, got posted online but i knew there was a continuation. while i don’t remember too much specifics abt my reaction to it then, i distinctly remember being affected by it and by that i mean ... liking it. i remember that i had the feeling of wanting to read the 2nd volume and even a year ago (almost the date!) on this very blog i noted that i “wanna read all of [their] works so bad” and at this point i had only ever read sneaky red so going off of that, i liked it apparently.
fast forward 2-3 years to tonight, where i finally forced myself to finish reading the series since the free month-long futekiya trial is ending soon. and well ... i thought i would be satisfied afterwards since i’ve wanted to finish reading this series for literal years but all i felt was ... disappointment. i’ve had the futekiya subscription for abt 1/2 a month already but i’ve been putting off reading sneaky red bc i mean i’ve read the 1st volume, i knew it was abt abuse pretty much and i wasn’t really into reading something so depressing (i had to reread the 1st volume in this read bc i legit have not touched the manga since whenever i read it last). and ... yeah it is a downer to read with little positive payoff. [putting under cut bc WOW this got long]
let’s get this straight, my perception of what this author is trying to do is this: two guys meet, one of them (A) has anger/emotion management issues and is quick to react with his fists and the other one (B) just so happens to get off at pain (...no further comment at this) ... which is coincidentally a “nice” set-up but A wants to turn over a new leaf bc eventually he feels bad whaling on B all the time ... except suddenly turning over a new leaf when you’ve been living and thinking a certain way for almost two entire decades is not that easy. which alright tl;dr, an abuser/someone quick to physical violence trying to reform. a rather heavy topic to tackle for your debut work ... and unfortunately i don’t think this author really succeeds in doing so. 1st volume was written in 2013 and is their debut work and it definitely feels like a new author work ... the story developments are kind of unclear at times and misaki (i think that was his name?) just accepting getting beaten up by a rando is just so incredibly sad to read bc like ... wtf? i cannot figure out how they came to love each other. i mean haru i can kind of see bc they kind of implied that misaki was one of the 1st ppl to have hope in him even though he himself felt like he was a lost cause, but misaki i just have no fucking idea what happened there. like lust turning into love? idk man falling in love from physical abuse frankly makes no fucking sense esp since it’s not even implied that misaki has low self-esteem or something that would make him accept this treatment. i legitimately would like to go back in time to meet me from 2-3 years and ask them what the fucking hell made me like this manga bc it’s messed up and the topics aren’t even handled that well! this is truly a manga that somehow depicts abuse as being shitty but also romanticizes it somehow?? even though i legit just read it a few hours ago i’m starting to mix up what happened in vol 1 and 2 so let’s just move on to vol 2 now.
vol 2 was definitely more put together in terms of story progression than vol 1 (i mean, being done 3 yrs later i would hope so). i did like it a bit more than vol 1 and there were some cute scenes bw misaki and haru but ... the scenes where misaki still went to see haru even after some seriously messed up scenes being like ‘i still love you’ ... really rubbed me the wrong way bc it kind of felt like a ‘you can heal abusive behavior through love’. i mean yes haru acknowledged his behavior and treatment of misaki was absolute shit and that he’d try to change, but also that ch where they kind of just substituted bdsm as a more socially acceptable way for haru to hit/hurt misaki during sex? BRO THAT’S NOT HOW IT WORKS !! i mean there were some scenes that felt realistic (misaki instinctively defending himself when haru raised his hand) but at the same time it also felt like the author didn’t really know what they were doing. like i get it, haru is supposed to be a nice person who just so happens to react badly to things but ... these kinds of things you kind of legit need professional help for. simply learning to depend more on friends/SOs, completely cutting out your toxic fam from your life... that kind of stuff is not really enough to help you heal. i mean this is a japanese manga, and ik east asian culture has ... thoughts on mental health care but the way the story was presented just didn’t feel realistic at all. yes they did show haru struggling to hold his emotions in check, i did like the scenes where haru was in his own head and saw his brother berating him for his behavior, and i do appreciate they didn’t merely just 180 change his personality and pretend it was easy to change for the better but ... idk. i just simply did not enjoy reading this story and about this relationship, i felt like their issues never really got resolved or are moving in a more constructive direction. i mean i guess this happens irl (bc ppl do stay in abusive relationships despite how bad it gets) but like i just had no fucking idea what misaki even saw in haru in the first place which sounds mean to haru but it’s true ?? like you gotta be attracted to SOMETHING first right, is it just bc he’s nice sometimes (this is worrying bc i’m someone who is weak to ppl simply being nice to me but also bruh if someone is beating my ass idk if i can be attracted to that) ?? it legit at times reminded me of bj alex which is an extremely unfortunate comparison in my book and you know what i just remembered that misaki was attracted to haru partly bc of his looks so uh yeah the comparison holds up.
i don’t even know if i can say i’m glad i read through these 2 volumes of sneaky red. apparently a 3rd volume is getting published next month and i’m like WHAT THE FUCK ELSE IS THERE TO TALK ABOUT ?? i saw a graphic of the side pairing (story covered in motion emotion) on the back cover which i got a lil excited abt bc i am intrigued by that pairing but like ... what else is there to talk abt re: sneaky red’s pairing. they’ve gotten together, they’re growing up and dealing with adult worries (jobs), and they’re moving in a more “positive” direction with their relationship (i.e., haru is opening up more to misaki) while attempting to hurdle the lingering issue of haru’s abuse -- what else is there to cover ... i think this artist really likes this couple which like makes sense for them since they’re their first published OCs but it’s prob just gonna be more senseless writing. the translated caption was like ‘the sequel of the famous debut work is here!’ and i’m like sneaky red is popular? this very unclearly written thing? but then again ppl liked k!lling st@alking and some of harada’s works that are OUT THERE are popular so i guess the fetish for abuse/hurt is strong ...
i didn’t really say anything coherent in this post bc deadass i don’t even remember what the fuck i read even though i read this manga like mere hrs ago which goes to show how much of an impact the story had on me (hint none). abuser stories are usually pretty hit or miss stories i feel, although tbh i don’t think i’ve ever read a hit story because the abuse is usually romanticized or somehow resolved without any issue which is frankly unrealistic and kind of dangerous to be telling people. i admit i don’t have personal experience with abuse (thankfully) so i guess i can’t really say stuff abt how realistic it is or not but ... just very disappointed with the story. i am still struggling to figure out what i liked abt this manga so much back then. i do like the art style a lot bc it’s unique compared to what you see in other BLs but the author’s writing is just very unclear sometimes ... it’s definitely improved since 2013 but ... hah. it was not really an enjoyable read. i legit wanted to stop reading at times but i’ve wanted to finish it for so long so i pushed on ... maybe i should reread so i can more definitively say what exactly i disliked but i don’t wanna read this again.

A Review of Tom Holland’s Complete Filmography
According to imdb
I had a lot of free time, so I decided to watch every movie Tom has acted in, according to his imdb page. I review each film, some with separate spoiler-free reviews.
spoilers under the cut
Arrietty (UK dub)
Not much to say about this one, so both reviews will go together. Tom plays Sho, the sick boy who finds Arrietty and her family. Quite similar to the Disney version, though a little less childish and fun. An enjoyable viewing; I find both English dubs interchangeable.
The Impossible (2012)
Wow. For my spoiler-free review, I just gotta say: watch this movie!! The whole cast is phenomenal, and Tom really does carry the story. He’s a 12-year-old boy on Holiday with his family when a tsunami hits, and we watch his struggle to get his mother medical attention and reunite with his father and little brothers. For such a young character, it is truly remarkable to watch him steal every scene. Definitely recommend!
Spoilers: I cannot stress enough how amazing this cast was. Of course, the movie had its flaws, with three of the main cast being portrayed by children, but it was still remarkable. The way Tom shows Lucas’s character development was remarkably done, and every time Lucas breaks or begins to scream, you’re reminded how young these children are. Ewan McGregor, as always, played his role to the best of his ability, and as he showed a mourning dad desperate for information on his family, you could feel your heart break with him. Naomi Watts, of course, was phenomenal. Just an all around remarkable film, and one that really showcased some of Tom’s strong suits. Quite graphic throughout, but if you have the stomach, I highly recommend taking the time to watch young Tom act his heart out in crisis.
Moments (short film, 2013)
mmkay so this is just a short youtube film, but it’s pretty great. It has Tom doing a voiceover with a montage of a boy and girl in a relationship. Heartbreaking, sharply done, and quick, it’s worth the four minutes of your time.
Locke (2013)
This one’s about a dad on a car ride and how his life kind of falls apart over the course of a few phone calls. Though Tom has a very small part in this film (it’s just his voice for like five minutes, max) he does it well. You understand the relationship between he and his father, and he sounds just a like a teenage kid waiting to watch a match on tv would. The whole film isn’t really necessary if you’re just watching for Tom, but it’s actually really remarkable. Would recommend, just be aware this isn’t a “Tom” movie.
How I Live Now (2013)
ALRIGHT, BUCKOS, STRAP IN! I have my fair share of complaints with this movie, but Tom’s character (Isaac) is NOT ONE OF THEM! Basic plot: an edgy™ American girl comes to stay with her cousins in England, and WWIII breaks out and they get separated and she’s trying to find them. It’s enjoyable, Saoirse Ronan does a great job playing her character, and I’m glad I actually watched it.
Spoilers: She falls in love with her eldest cousin, and that’s a main instigator of the plot. GROSS. But it’s her middle cousin, Isaac, that really made this movie tolerable. Tom plays a 14-year-old kid that really just wanted his cousin to enjoy her stay without letting her walk all over him. He and Daisy exchange banter, and he never lets her negativity get to him. For the first half an hour, he spends all his screen time trying to make light of situations and caring for his family. Then, they kill him off after seeing nothing of him for 40+ minutes. NOT. COOL. Daisy tenderly buries his glasses after finding his dead body, but they don’t really mention him again until the little sister is like “lmao where’s isaac???” He deserved far better. I will probably watch this movie again, but it really goes downhill when you take his positivity and warmth from it.
Tweet (short film, 2015)
Another short youtube film. This one stars Tom’s youngest brother, and is very witty and cute. You get about thirty seconds (max) of Tom onscreen, but he actually directed this! V v adorable, I recommend those two minutes of cuteness.
In the Heart of the Sea (2015)
Ahhh, the origination of the iconic Quackson meme. Won’t lie, I was a bit disappointed by this one. The movie is based off a book that is telling the “true story” that inspired Herman Meville to write Moby Dick. Tom plays the young version of the sole survivor of the ship Essex that was attacked by a white wale and marooned for months. A rowdy period piece full of action and high tensions, it’s a good popcorn movie.
Spoilers: The pacing was really weird. They spend the first hour of the movie sailing around on a nice boat, hunting whales, and bullying the new kid (Tom). The captain is jealous of the first mate so he makes dumb choices. Tom’s character (Thomas Nickerson) thinks the first mate is the coolest guy ever. And suddenly!! WHALES. FIRE. TENSIONS. There’s literally like fifteen minutes of whale smashing, half an hour of floating around and starving and cannibalism, and the last fifteen minutes are split between angsty old Nickerson and everyone making it home fine. The idea was interesting, and the cast did wonderfully, it just felt like the production was a bit rushed. Would still recommend!
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
I’m not really gonna review this, we probably have all seen this. I just wanted to put it here so it’s all his films. Tom’s great. The ideal Peter. A quality beeb. I’m so sorry that I said beeb. WOW I LOVE THIS SPIDEY!
Edge of Winter (2016)
Okay!! I was really excited to see this one, and it was perfectly mediocre. A quick summary: Bradley (Tom) and his little brother are left with their dad for a week or whatever. Their dad finds out that their new step-dad is planning on moving the family and freaks out. Horror movie cliches ensue. An interesting concept with a pretty decent cast, but lacking in certain areas. A mellow horror, much more of a thriller.
Spoilers: Tbh Luc and Richard felt a bit flung in, and there was a lot of unrealistic things. Like... Brad drives a car for like a mile one time and then at the end he’s fine driving miles and miles to get away. Also what happened to their dad?? It’s never discussed at the end. And ik this is about Tom (don’t get me wrong, he was great) but can we discuss the little brother??? Honestly the two brothers pretty much carried the film and they did amazingly! If it had the proper score, I feel it would have boosted the film’s quality tenfold. Altogether, an enjoyable movie to watch when you want something freaky, but not too bad.
The Lost City of Z (2016)
Quite possibly my least favorite movie on this list, but that might just be me. Percy Fawcett is an explorer that becomes obsessed with his search for the lost city he calls “z” in the amazon forest. Despite ridicule from his superiors, he dedicates his life to it. His family feels he has abandoned them, but still support him. It’s literally 2 hours and 20 minutes of this dude looking for native inhabitants of “amazonia.” There are long, sophisticated scenes of dialogue. This is a movie you need to pay close attention to in order to capture completely.
Spoilers: It’s probably bc I was watching the movie for Tom, but I was disappointed. We get maybe 20 minutes of Tom, the majority of that just squeezed into the end. Tom’s character development felt rushed and flimsy. Robert Pattinson’s character was great, and honestly, why did we not get more development from him??? It was a lot of dialogue with not a lot of movement. Probably like a 5 or 6 out of 10. Just a bit of a mess.. The best part was probably what an early feminist his wife was.
Pilgrimage (2017)
okay so this movie isn’t technically out yet but it’s online illegally (ssssh.....) and I really wanted to see it. I was prepared to dislike it bc people kept talking about how dark it was, but it was actually very enjoyable. Definitely gory and v intense, but all the same, a good story. Possibly the best showcase of Tom’s talent yet (other than hoco obs). Be warned: it can be very hard to watch at times, but stays true to its story.
Spoilers: ok so tbh sometimes it felt like the movie couldn’t decide who it wanted its main character to be. We see Mr. French Richard Armitage Princey a lot, and the herbalist, and the French Priest dude, and definitely a lot of The Novice (Tom), but it wasn’t until the end when it becomes clear that we were watching through the eyes of the Novice. Where Edge of Winter’s big climax failed to feel high-stakes when it was, Pilgrimage does the opposite. During the final scene, I went “oh, yeah, this is the climax!” and it felt v high stakes. Definitely dark and gory and intense, but an intriguing and fascinating film to watch if you have the time.
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Wowowowow i love tom and he’s so good and i can’t wait to see more spidey YEET!!!
thank you for reading, let me know if this helped, and i will probably continue to add to this as more of his movies come out :)))

I may be the only one who thinks this but don't you think sometimes yoongi can be a bit overboard when it comes to jin? I was watching the bts festa in 2015 & he called jin "boring" and asked him why he films himself eating & idk the entire time jin didn't look right. even with the roommate festa thing we had this year, when jin said they talked for like "3 seconds" idk i don't doubt their friendship, obviously they're close but i just feel bad for jin sometimes bc of it
No- you’re not alone! I know what you mean! I feel that way all the time! And ik exactly why you mean with the Home Party too! When Jin feels guilty he just looks like a kick puppy- even tho I can tell he tries to hide it- and it just tugs at your heartstrings. (Poor Seokjin T~T). I think he might be a bit much too and but The thing is it’s that it’s in their culture- I’m assuming your non-Korean. But it’s not seen as mean in their culture for Koreans to point out people’s fault and mistakes even tho over here it’s seen as hurtful and a mean thing to do. Koreans do get sad over being nitpicked at their faults but it’s not seen as such a big deal as it would be in other parts of the world. The reason why it’s seen especially on Suga is because Suga is the closest to Jin’s age. Age is regarded as such an important thing in their culture, so Koreans ( generally but BTS esp.) would show upmost respect for their elders even if perhaps the elder is wrong and they’re right- even if they’ve been living together as long as BTS has. The importance of age hit me in the 4th Anniversary FM when Hoseok had such different reactions to not going along with his plans for the members. It’s a big barrier. Honestly, that’s the only reason the others don’t pick at Seokjins fault as much as the others. Seokjin himself does it too- A LOT( since he’s the oldest). Try not to feel so bad. BTS isn’t trying to put eachother down. I’ll also try to not feel bad! It breaks my heart T~T
Honestly I feel the baddest for Taehyung becuz he’s the second to youngest, and unlike JK he tends to be underestimated by the other members- it’s almost like EVERYONE “attacks” him. And to make it worse, he’s not good at arguing and that easily makes him a victim to self hatred and depression- he’ll feel like other members are right because he can’t defend himself as he wants to and hate that he can’t defend himself as he wants to-. U can see it in little snip bits like when Taehyung said himself he tends to not have faith in himself and thought his smile was weird and in 2016 he probably forced himself to smile less for that very reason. You can see how his confidence just dropped- In 2013 he would as weird as he could no matter what, brush away compliments with a smile and by 2016 u got him saying this self hating comments and him looking at the ground and frowning all the time and BTS just talking over and ignoring him everytime he speaks. It breaks my heart T~T! I’m pretty sure the reason Taehyung broke so much was because he probably wasn’t used to such criticism before and it took a toll on him when reality hit him. He’s getting better now but… still I just feel so bad even tho ik I shouldn’t. Ik exactly how he feeling so sometimes I just want to tell him I love him and he’s perfect the way he is and to believe in himself but WAHHH TT~TT
I love Seokjin too- he’s my bias a million times over- but he honestly got lucky as the oldest and I bless God each time I realize how lucky he was. But I also feel bad for Taehyung- urgh. I wish i could tell BTS to cut down on it, but mental health isn’t treated as much as an issue in Korea as other places ( it SHOULD- since it’s, I believe, the 2nd most suicidal country?). Mental health isn’t taken that seriously in other countries either tho. It’s so important though…
Anyways, you’re not alone( YNWA)! But it’s not how it seems. It was a big culture shock to me too when BTS would call eachother ugly and everyone would laugh. I really want them to be nicer to each other…

The Eagles, led by Head Coach Mark Byington, return 3 of their top 4 scorers from last season. The Eagles averaged 82.6 points a game last season which was 15th best in America last season. To compare with Auburn, they averaged 79.7 last season. This should be a solid opening night game for Auburn.

What a cool spectacle this will be! This game will be held on the campus of the Naval Academy at the start of Veterans Day Weekend.
KenPom has them quite a bit lower than the preseason polls as they are the 6th team in the Receiving Votes portion of the AP Poll. I saw a Davidson game last year in person and was extremely impressed with 6’10” forward Luka Brajkovic. The Austrian native will be a terrific early season test for Auburn’s bigs.
This is a great move by Luka Brajkovic. Backs down the bigger defender, uses his body well, and finishes with the left. Great start to the 2nd half for Davidson. pic.twitter.com/QlyvJgztAJ

In addition, Kellan Grady and Iceland native Jon Axel Gudmundsson, both 1st Team Preseason All A-10 players return this season. In addition to the match-up between Brajkovic and Wiley, I’m looking forward to seeing how guys like Samir Doughty and Isaac Okoro match-up against Grady.
The Head Coach of the Wildcats is Bob McKillop, who enters his 31st season at Davidson. Davidson truly recruits worldwide as their roster is made up of players from 7 different countries. This will be Davidson’s season opener and with the Wildcats one of the teams Receiving Votes in the Preseason Top 25, this would be a great Week 1 win for Auburn.

at South Alabama Jaguars
Sun Belt Conference
Last Year’s Record: 17-17 (8-10)
KenPom Ranking: 120
Preseason Media Prediction: 1st
Leading Returning Scorers: Josh Ajayi (16.4 PPG), Trhae Mitchell (13.6 PPG), Herb McGee (10 PPG)
This is an intriguing game for multiple reasons. First of all, Auburn returns to Mobile to play the Jaguars for the first time since 1995 as part of a 3 game series which began last year. While Auburn played South Alabama last year and won 101-58, I expect this game to be much different as Richie Riley has put a solid roster together, including multiple transfers from Power 5 schools and the Jaguars look like they can contend in the Sun Belt this season.

Leading Returning Scorers: Lamine Diane (24.8 PPG), Terrell Gomez (19.2 PPG), Darius Brown II (8.3 PPG)
If you’re going to the Auburn-Georgia game, make it a point to get to Auburn a day early and watch the basketball team! Heck, make it a long weekend with basketball playing at home on Friday and Monday with the football game sandwiched between these two games.
The Matadors are coached by former Alabama Head Coach Mark Gottfried. The Matadors look to improve in Year 2 of Gottfried’s tenure in Northridge. Lamine Diane was 6th in the nation last year in scoring at 24.8 points per game as a freshman. Only Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy averaged more points a game as a freshman last season.
Incredible game-tying 3 by Lamine Diane at the buzzer to send this one to OT. Not known for his shooting, the 6-7 Diane has played with tremendous energy all game long. NBA physical profile. pic.twitter.com/gby0XL7coD

When you think about Colgate, you probably think about Toothpaste but don’t let that fool you, this is a good team Auburn will be facing. The Raiders received a vote in the Preseason Top 25 as all each of their Top 3 scorers return from last year’s squad that pushed Tennessee in the 1st Round of the NCAA Tournament as a 15 seed. Their leading scorer, Jordan Burns, scored 32 against the Vols in a 77-70 season ending loss. To get to the NCAA Tournament, Burns scored 35 points against Bucknell in the Patriot League Championship.

New Mexico is a proud basketball school bu they have struggled over the last several years. They are hoping that Head Coach Paul Weir, who came over from in-state rival New Mexico State a couple years ago, can finally restore the Lobos program. The Lobos will get a boost finally getting JaQuan Lyle eligible, a transfer from Ohio State. Bragg started his career at Kansas and moved on to Arizona State before finally landing in Albuquerque last season. There’s some talent on this Lobos roster and they’re hoping to find their way back to the NCAA Tournament as they haven’t been since the 2013-2014 season.

Wisconsin Badgers OR Richmond Spiders

Wisconsin
Big 10 Conference
Last Year’s Record: 23-11 (14-6)
KenPom Ranking: 45
Preseason Media Prediction: 6th
Leading Returning Scorers: D’Mitrik Trice (11.6 PPG), Brad Davison (10.5 PPG), Nate Reuvers (7.9 PPG)
Auburn would be well served to draw the Badgers in the 2nd game in Brooklyn. That said, the Badgers lost their leading scorer Ethan Happ from last year and expectations are lower in Madison this year. In addition, the Badgers play slow on offense averaging 68.6 points so this could be quite the contrast of styles if this match up comes to fruition. The Badgers returned to the NCAA Tournament last season after missing their first NCAA Tournament in 20 years the year before. It was a short stay last year as they lost by 20 to 12th seeded Oregon to end their season out in San Jose.
Richmond
Atlantic 10 Conference
Last Year’s Record: 13-20 (6-12)
KenPom Ranking: 92
Preseason Media Predictions: 6th
Leading Returning Scorers: Grant Golden (17.2 PPG), Jacob Gilyard (16.2 PPG), Nathan Cayo (12.9 PPG)
Richmond reached the Sweet 16 back in 2010-2011. That seems like a few eternities ago and the Spiders have lost 20 games each of the last 2 years. But expectations should be higher this year as Richmond brings back their top 6 scorers from last year’s squad, including 6’10” 255 pound forward Grant Golden. Their starting lineup will consist of all juniors so the experience is certainly there for the Spiders this year. I have a feeling this is make or break year for Head Coach Chris Mooney, but then again, I thought last year was so we’ll see.

Furman Paladins

Last Year’s Record: 25-8 (13-5)
KenPom Ranking: 105
Preseason Media Prediction: 3rd
Leading Returning Scorers: Jordan Lyons (16.2 PPG), Clay Mounce (10.7), Alex Hunter (9 PPG)
The Paladins were the darlings of college basketball early last season. The earned road wins at both Loyola-Chicago and Villanova, who were both fresh off of Final Four appearances. They were in the conversation for an at-large bid despite their mid major affiliation all the way until March. The program from Greenville, South Carolina brings back most of their team from last season and the turnover at rival Wofford, there’s an opening to be that league’s best team with Furman having a legit shot at filling that spot. Furman lost their leading scorer from last year but return 5 of the next 6 leading scorers to this year’s team. Jordan Lyons leads that group of returners and he tied a NCAA record by making 15 3-pointers in a game last season.

Leading Returning Scorers: Jordan Goodwin (10.5 PPG), Hasahn French (9.3 PPG), Fred Thatch Jr. (4.3 PPG)
The Billikens won 4 games in 4 days (sound familiar) in their conference tournament to make the NCAA Tournament despite finishing 6th in their conference last season. Former Oklahoma State head coach Travis Ford leads the program now. The top 2 scorers and 5 of their top 7 scorers from last year’s team are gone. They will get a boost from Tay Weaver, a graduate transfer guard from Eastern Kentucky who averaged 10.2 points a game for the Colonels last season. This is the first of a 3 game series between the two schools.

KenPom Ranking: 28
Preseason Media Prediction: 6th
Leading Returning Scorers: Markell Johnson (12.6 PPG), C.J. Bryce (11.6 PPG), Braxton Beverly (9.4 PPG)
Okay, so Auburn should be looking to get some revenge in this one. Remember, this game last year was scheduled on the same day as a graduation so the Tigers didn’t get a chance to get into the building in Raleigh until they got there for the game. Is it too late to move a graduation to a Thursday? I kid (sorta).
I made the trip last year for this one and this quite the frustrating game to watch. Markell Johnson had a career high 27 points against Auburn and he is the leading returning scorer for the Wolfpack. Beverly and Devon Daniels, who also returns, each had 15 points against the Tigers last year. Beverly and Johnson were a combined 9-13 from 3-point range last year. As for Auburn, this was the best regular season game from J’Von McCormick as he led Auburn with 14 points. With much more of a load this year, J’Von will look to duplicate that this year on homecourt.

Leading Returning Scorers: Jordan Cohen (13.6 PPG), James Karnik (9.3 PPG), Jeameril Wilson (4.8 PPG)
Lehigh always has one of the better teams in the Patriot League but this might be a rebuilding year for the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh led the entire NCAA last year in 3-point % making 42.3% of their 3-pointers. 3 of their top 4 scorers from last year, including both starting guards graduated and they accounted for 74% of Lehigh’s made 3-pointers last year. The Mountain Hawks will be led by Jordan Cohen this year and he shot 47.5% from 3-point range last year, 2nd best in the country.
Some of you may remember Lehigh as the school that gave us C.J. McCollum and beat Duke in the NCAA Tournament back in 2012.

Leading Returning Scorers: Ahsan Asadullah (7.4 PPG), Michael Buckland (5.7 PPG), Andrew Fleming (4.1 PPG)
As you can tell from the previous line, it’s a new era for Lipscomb after one of their best years in program history last season.
Like Furman, Lipscomb was also a mid-major who looked to claim an at-large bid up until the very end of the season. But the Bisons lost to Liberty at home in their conference title game and thus ended up in the NIT. They won a trio of games on the road, including at Davidson and at N.C. State, to make it to the Final Four of the NIT. Casey Alexander, their coach, moved up the street to coach Belmont and Garrison Matthews, who averaged 20.6 points per game is now in the NBA. All together, the Bisons lost 5 of their 6 top scorers from last year’s team.
The Bisons hired longtime University of Alabama-Huntsville coach Lennie Acuff to take over for Alexander. Living in Nashville now, I hope to see some of Lipscomb before they come to Auburn in late December.

Man I wish the Tigers would have been in this event the last 2 years while I was on campus but it’s good to see Auburn back in this for the foreseeable future. They host their first game in this event in four years on the final Saturday of January as Iowa State makes their maiden voyage to Auburn.
The Cyclones lost their top 3 scorers but Tyrese Haliburton looks primed to become this year’s go-to guy for the Cyclones, as he shot 43.4% from 3 last year. This is a young Cyclones team and it’s evident based on the returning scorers line as 12 players on this roster are underclassmen, including Haliburton.

Crazy in love: can marriages between rock superstars ever really work?
New Post has been published on http://getyourgossip.xyz/crazy-in-love-can-marriages-between-rock-superstars-ever-really-work/
Crazy in love: can marriages between rock superstars ever really work?
When Beyoncé and Jay-Z flew into Salford this week, ahead of their On the Run II show in Manchester, the gossip columns noted several details: that Beyoncé wore a black hooded jacket, their children were not with them and, most provocatively, that the pair landed in separate helicopters.
The insinuation was clear: all might not be rosy. For while both musicians have enjoyed stunningly successful solo careers, it is their 15-year union that has long captured the public’s imagination: a relationship that began with a duet – 2003’s Bonnie and Clyde – and has continued through courtship, marriage, children, infidelity, two painfully confessional albums about marital difficulty and a second instalment of a joint world tour. The success of their relationship, despite the pressures and media attention, is quite remarkable.
In their shows this week, the pair have willingly referenced their relationship – videos screened home movies and apparent images of their children alongside the message “Love never changes”, but there was also footage of houses burning down and vows being renewed. And while the pair held hands and Beyoncé announced: “It makes me so happy to be on stage with the man I love”, both played songs from Lemonade and 4:44, their respective portraits of a marriage in turmoil.
Any marriage is a delicate creation, but from Ike and Tina Turner to Sonny and Cher, Notorious BIG and Faith Evans to Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, the union between two musicians has long seemed more vulnerable than most.
For some, this has fuelled their work – Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 album Rumours documents the marriage breakdown of John and Christine McVie as well as the collapse of the on/off relationship between their bandmates Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. Abba began as two couples – Agnetha Fältskog and Björn Ulvaeus, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Benny Andersson, but as their relationships faltered their music grew in introspection and maturity. By the time of their 1981 masterpiece The Visitors, both had separated. Michelle and John Phillips’ marriage lasted only as long as the Mamas and the Papas. Jack and Meg White of the White Stripes managed to navigate the musical fame that arrived after their divorce. What makes a superstar marriage falter, what helps it endure, and why are they so complicated?
Musicians are prey to the same pressures as other famous or successful couples – demanding jobs, long stretches apart, a want of privacy. And music itself can play a role in the marriage. In 2016, after Jay-Z was accused of infidelity, Beyoncé’s riposte came in the form of Lemonade and, most particularly, the track Sorry, a sublime hurl of rage, accusation and defiance. “Today I regret the night I put that ring on,” she sneered. “He always got them fucking excuses.” Although it was the line: “He better call Becky with the good hair” – apparently in reference to her husband’s mistress – that proved most potent: for weeks, speculation abounded about Becky’s true identity.
“I think the thing about musicians is that when they’re writing songs about the relationship, they’re private thoughts but they’re singing them publicly,” says behavioural psychologist Jo Hemmings. “You’re singing to your partner via music – so music becomes almost a third party. That’s a good thing if you can mediate through it, if you find it easier than talking about problems. It’s probably quite restorative and recuperative in a way – it’s part of the therapeutic process.”
But at times, she suggests, it can prove an unsettling and indirect way of communicating. “It raises questions,” she says. “Was that song about me? Was it real, or just your imagination? And if so, why were you thinking that way? So you have got to be able to back it up and be accountable. Otherwise, you could leave the other party at a loss, or perhaps even writing a song in response and hanging out your dirty washing in public.”
Tumblr media

Being part of a successful musical couple does, of course, bring specific difficulties. When Cherilyn “Cher” Sarkisian met Sonny Bono at a cafe in Los Angeles in 1962, she was 16 and he was 27. They were married for six years before splitting in 1974 – Sonny citing “irreconcilable differences”, Cher countering with charges of “involuntary servitude” and the accusation that he withheld earnings from her. Twelve years after Bono’s death, Cher told Vanity Fair that he had treated her “more like a golden goose than like his wife”. Although time, perhaps, and his passing had mellowed her feelings. “I forgive him, I think,” she added. “He hurt me in so many ways, but there was something. He was so much more than a husband — a terrible husband, but a great mentor, a great teacher.”
Often what breaks apart a musical marriage are the obvious things – perhaps no different from those in any other marital breakdown, but amplified by the gleam of showbusiness – infidelity, boredom, distance, the slow sad inevitability of two lives drifting apart.
The difference is that in the eyes of the public they have come to represent something more than just two people in a marriage. When Kim Gordon wrote in her autobiography, Girl in a Band, of the end of her 27-year marriage to her fellow Sonic Youth member Thurston Moore, its details were strikingly ordinary, but carried the extra weight, shame and sadness of the publicness of their split: “The couple everyone believed was golden and normal and eternally intact, who gave younger musicians hope they could outlast a crazy rock’n’roll world, was now just another cliche of relationship failure,” she wrote. “A male midlife crisis, another woman, a double life.”
Tumblr media

Infidelity is common in any walk of life, but in a musical marriage, temptation is arguably greater. Partners are often apart on tour, having quite different unshared experiences and, in such circumstances, a sense of closeness can be hard to maintain. More problematic can be the gulf between the stage and domesticity – thousands of fans screaming their name, the surge of adoration, the assistants on call, the manager to shield them, the hours of interviews spent talking only about themselves, and then back home to something more prosaic: a partner whose love is less fawning, who sees them as a flawed human being.
But sometimes, magically, it can work. Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan have been together since 1980, and while Waits is the frontman in their pairing, they have a strong songwriting partnership and he frequently speaks of her talents. Brennan, Waits once said, is “a remarkable collaborator, and she’s a shiksa goddess and a trapeze artist, all of that. She can fix the truck. Expert on the African violet and all that. She’s outta this world. I don’t know what to say. I’m a lucky man. She has a remarkable imagination. And that’s the nation where I live. She’s bold, inventive and fearless. That’s who you wanna go in the woods with, right? Somebody who finishes your sentences for you.”
Johnny Cash’s first marriage to Vivian Liberto was in many ways a portrait of how the celebrity marriage can go awry — a young, hurried union when they barely knew one another, and both struggled with their new way of life when Cash found fame. Liberto filed for divorce, weary of her husband’s constant touring, his problems with drugs and alcohol and womanising.
When he married June Carter it was quite a different relationship. The pair had known each other for many years before becoming a couple, and Carter was already part of a well-known musical family with an understanding of the industry. They married in 1968 and died within four months of one another in 2003. Key to their marriage was their understanding of intimacy in the midst of a public relationship –although Cash’s proposal was rather ostentatious: “He asked me to marry him in front of 7,000 people,” she once recalled, “but I would’ve liked it if he had gotten down on his knees and proposed to me, you know. But that was the way it was. It was a great big production …”
Tumblr media
Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash had an enduring relationship. Photograph: Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images
Still, Cash would speak often and pleasingly of the simplicity of their bond. Once, asked for a definition of paradise, he replied: “This morning, with her, having coffee.”
What kept them together was the acknowledgement that what truly mattered was far away from the swagger of the stage. “There’s unconditional love there,” he once said. “You hear that phrase a lot, but it’s real with me and her. She loves me in spite of everything, in spite of myself. She has saved my life more than once. She’s always been there with her love, and it has certainly made me forget the pain for a long time, many times. When it gets dark and everybody’s gone home and the lights are turned off, it’s just me and her.”
When Lou Reed died in 2013 his wife Laurie Anderson paid tribute to their long relationship in an essay for Rolling Stone, citing their shared understanding of peculiar careers as part of what held them together. Reed had asked her out after they first met taking part at a concert in Munich and her response, tempered by her commitment to her own work, apparently delighted him: “I think he liked it when I said Yes! Absolutely! I’m on tour – but when I get back, let’s see, about four months from now, let’s definitely get together.” She added: “Musicians being married is sort of like lawyers being married. When you say: ‘Gee, I have to work in the studio til three tonight’ – or cancel all your plans to finish the case – you pretty much know what that means and you don’t necessarily hit the ceiling.”
To read Anderson’s essay is to be reminded of all the normal, complex, beautiful things that make up a relationship – how they loved butterfly-hunting, kayaking, their dog, how sometimes they felt angry or abandoned, and how together they “constructed ways to be”. And how, throughout their 21 years together as partners and professional musicians, they were bound by this remarkable combination of the humdrum and the spectacular, the silence and the song. “How strange and exciting and miraculous,” she wrote, “that we can change each other so much through our words and music and our real lives.”

UCLA and USC are bringing 'Showtime' back to LA college basketball
For the first time in six years, both UCLA and USC have good basketball programs.
TEMPE, AZ — Steve Alford is a happy man.
Standing outside of the visitors’ locker room at Wells Fargo Arena, taking questions from the assembled media on hand, the coach of the UCLA Bruins finally has a moment to relax.
His star player, Lonzo Ball, is fine despite tweaking his right ankle earlier in the night.
His team, now ranked No. 3 in the country, is also fine after surviving a trap game at Arizona State. Two nights later, UCLA would travel to Tucson to face a top-ten Arizona team and win that game, too.
UCLA went 7-0 in the month of February, a month it entered on a two-game losing streak. The Bruins are playing a fun, entertaining brand of basketball, and they might be playing it better than any other team in the country at the moment.
Indeed, life is good right now for Alford and UCLA. In a year when the Lakers are near the bottom of the NBA standings and the Clippers are, well, the Clippers, the Bruins are the best show in town.
That doesn’t mean they are the only show in town, however. And while they are helping to make the city of Los Angeles into a college basketball town again, that’s an undertaking that can’t be done alone.
* * *
If February was a dream for the Bruins, it was a nightmare for the USC Trojans.
USC finished February with four straight losses and did not post a victory against a team ranked higher than No. 10 in the Pac-12 standings. The last of those losses was the one that hurt the most, a game in which Andy Enfield’s team led the Sun Devils by 10 points with less than three minutes remaining before going on to lose by one.
“We're going to come back even harder,” Trojan forward Bennie Boatwright said after the loss. “We won't sulk on it. We just need to wash our hands and move on.”
Despite the skid, USC is still in good shape to earn an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. It began the season at a torrid pace, winning 14 consecutive games.
No win was bigger than the one that came on January 25 inside the Galen Center when the Trojans took care of then-No. 8 UCLA, sending the Bruins home with an 84-76 loss.
The victory marked Enfield’s first win against a nationally-ranked UCLA team, a moment he’s been building towards ever since infamously telling his players back in 2013, "If you want to play slow, go to UCLA."
That comment was made just months after Enfield rose to fame at Florida Gulf Coast and Dunk City, leading the Eagles to a Sweet Sixteen trip before being hired away by the Trojans.
He took some criticism for the quote (that first USC team finished 11-21, while the Bruins went to the Sweet Sixteen), but the reasoning behind it was sound. Enfield wanted the rivalry to be as competitive as it used to be, and after four years, it finally is.
The fourth-year coach has been a force on the recruiting trail, bringing in four-star prospects like Boatwright, Jordan McLaughlin, Elijah Stewart, and Chimezie Metu. He has also made the school an attractive place for high-profile transfers, welcoming in former Duke point guard Derryck Thorton Jr. and Louisville small forward Shaqquan Aaron.
The epitome of a players’ coach, Enfield has been quick to accept criticism and deflect praise throughout the season. That was true after the Trojans’ collapse in Tempe.
“We aren’t going to put the blame on anybody except me,” said Enfield. “It’s a collective effort and we’re in this together. We've had a great season with some tough losses as of late, so now we have to bounce back.”
The Trojans got back to their winning ways last week by thumping Washington State and Washington inside the Galen Center, keeping them on the right side of the bubble heading into the Pac-12 Tournament.
When asked for his thoughts on his team’s NCAA Tournament chances, junior shooting guard Elijah Stewart didn’t seem concerned in the slightest.
“I feel like we should be fine,” Stewart says. “We just have to take it game by game, but I’m not worried about that.”
Barring a surprise, USC should hear its name called on Selection Sunday for a second consecutive year, something that hasn’t been done since the days of O.J. Mayo, Nick Young, and Taj Gibson.
For the first time in six seasons, they will be joined in that tournament field by crosstown rival UCLA.
* * *
The Bruins are 28-3 and are led by the always calm, always cool Lonzo Ball.
Ball’s name is cool. The way he walks onto the floor for pregame warmups — behind the rest of his jogging teammates — is cool.
Ball never shows too much emotion, because caring too much about anything isn’t cool.
At one point in the Arizona State game, he tried a nifty but ill-advised behind the back pass to save the ball underneath his own basket, and it led to a pair of Sun Devil free throws. Seconds later, he stood with his foot over the lane line, daring an official to call a lane violation.
He gets away with these things because he’s Lonzo Ball, the best player on one of the best teams in the country. You may have seen him pulling up from 30 feet to hit a dagger three-pointer, or flying high for alley-oops once not thought to be possible.
Oregon led UCLA by as many as 19 points. Then Lonzo Ball took over and willed the Bruins to victory: https://t.co/eJUnmm80Ua http://pic.twitter.com/YHHoc7v8zI
— SB Nation CBB (@SBNationCBB) February 10, 2017
But while Ball (or his father) might make the majority of the headlines, UCLA’s full cast of characters is plenty deep.
There’s TJ Leaf, the imposing freshman forward that is second on the team in scoring. The coach’s son, Bryce Alford, has made more three-pointers than any power conference player in the country. Isaac Hamilton, Thomas Welsh, and Aaron Holiday are all averaging double figures as well.
Holiday is scoring at a clip of 13 points per game and plays starter minutes for Alford, but the point guard has come off the bench in all 31 games this season. He started every single game in his first season.
“I just have to come in with an aggressive mindset,” says Holiday. “Coming off the bench cold, you can’t be passive. So being aggressive gets me going and helps everyone in the long run.”
One more bench player, freshman Ike Anigbogu (a raw but talented big) rounds out a seven-deep rotation for the Bruins that few teams across the country can match.
“It's a fun group to coach and a fun group to be around,” Alford said after the win in Tempe. “I think we are really starting to grow and hit our stride. We're playing good basketball right now so hopefully we can continue that.”
The city of Los Angeles loves a winner, and the legendary Pauley Pavilion — notoriously tough to fill when the home team is struggling — has been hopping since December.
The Bruins are averaging more than 10,000 fans a game at home, and the fact that they lead the conference in road attendance is evidence that their brand just as strong as it used to be.
To watch a UCLA game now is to watch any UCLA game ever. The Bruins play in the same arena, in the same neighborhood, wearing the same uniforms they have since the 1960s.
Pauley can still rock like it did back in the good ol' days (if you don’t know what those days entailed, block out five hours and ask a UCLA fan). Getting to a game entails driving through swanky areas like Beverly Hills, Brentwood, or Bel-Air.
The jerseys still have the same four letters arcing across the chest, and the blue and gold coloring reeks of old school, blue blood, college basketball tradition.
From 1962 to 1976, the Bruins went to the Final Four on 13 separate occasions. They’ve been back to the sport’s promised land just five times in the past 40 years, however, and their last trip was in 2008.

Throughout the season, the narrative has been “UCLA has Final Four potential if it could only play defense.” Alford and company have been hard at work trying to change that, and they may have hit a breakthrough.
His team hasn’t given up more than 80 points in a game since that late-January loss at USC, and they haven’t had to slow down their high-octane offense to achieve that. The Bruins have won all nine games since that loss, scoring at least 95 points in four of them and reaching triple digits twice.
“We've done a really good job of defending in this stretch,” says Alford. “Our defense is getting better, our efficiency is getting better, and you can see that every time we get a stop and get out into transition, that's when we are very good.”

The story goes like this.
In 1979, a USC alum and businessman named Jerry Buss purchased the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss had two goals for his new franchise: Make the team good, and make the entertainment level just as high.
He modeled some facets of the team’s arena after a popular Santa Monica club, which included dimming the crowd lights and turning the Forum Club into the hottest nightclub in the city.

Basketball-wise, he wanted the Lakers to play an up-tempo, high-offense brand of basketball. Specifically, he wanted his games to feel like the ones played between the Trojans and Bruins at the college level.
Those Lakers would go on to be known as Showtime, winning a total of five NBA titles while putting on the most entertaining show in basketball in the process.
It’s a reach to say that college basketball in Los Angeles will ever return to the consistent levels of excitement that pre-dated and inspired those Laker teams, but we could be in the first stages of something close.
UCLA doesn’t play slow anymore. In fact, no team in the country plays at a more efficient and fast pace than the Bruins do.
On the other side of town is USC, a team with far less tradition but a future that is nearly as bright.
Luckily, the city is big enough for the both of them.

How breast cancer and the BRCA gene brought us the sister we never knew
For Tamsin and Lorna, discovering their half-sister was good news at a time of gruelling treatments and agonising choices over preventive surgery
Like all sisters, Tamsin and Lorna Sargeant and Claire Pike are linked by their genes. But in their case, one gene has dominated their relationship; in fact, it was responsible for bringing them together for the very first time. In this picture of the three of them smiling in the sunshine they look happy and carefree but the gene that brought them together has led to a huge amount of heartache, and desperately difficult decisions.
The story that united these sisters begins one day in spring 2009, when Tamsin, then 40, noticed a strange thickening under the skin of her chest, just below her collarbone. She went to her GP, who knew immediately it was serious. Sure enough, tests revealed a large tumour that had spread to her lymph nodes.
It was shocking and scary: but Tamsin knew she would get through. Her sister Lorna was a big support: the two had been raised by their mother, Jennie, and stepfather, Ralph, who had died a few months before her cancer came to light.
Tamsin had chemotherapy to shrink the tumour, followed by a lumpectomy and radiotherapy. She carried on with her job as a social worker as much as possible as well as caring for her then two-year-old daughter, Esm, with her partner, Tom. By early 2010, it seemed she had put breast cancer behind her and moved on with her life.
But she hadnt. At some point, her oncologist raised the possibility of whether Tamsin might be a carrier of one of the most common breast cancer genes, BRCA1 or BRCA2. We had always been a bit worried about breast cancer in our family, on my mums side, because my grandmother and an aunt had it. But from the pattern of the disease in our family, the doctor said it was unlikely the BRCA gene was in our family.
All the same, Tamsin agreed to take part in some medical research that meant being tested for BRCA. She was asked to fill in a detailed questionnaire about her family history, which meant contacting someone she had barely seen since she was a small child: her birth father, Clive, who had split up with her mother when she and Lorna were very young. I hardly remembered Clive, and Id always regarded Ralph as my dad, says Tamsin. But I had Clives email address, so I wrote to him to ask for information about anyone on his side of the family who had had breast cancer.
Clives reply contained a bombshell. Not only had his sister and other members of his family had breast cancer, but he had another female relative to tell Tamsin about: a half-sister she had not known existed Claire, the daughter of another relationship.
The news was exciting, and unexpected, and Tamsin hoped they might get to know one another. But first, she felt she needed to rule out the possibility, however unlikely her oncologist thought it was, that her family might be BRCA carriers. I was very interested in Claire, and keen to meet her, but I felt it was my responsibility, for her and for Lorna, to make absolutely sure I didnt have this gene, says Tamsin. Id been through a horrible experience, and I thought the least I could do for them was make sure it wasnt a big risk for them, too.
The test results took a long time, but Tamsin wasnt too worried. So when in March 2011 she went along to the Royal Marsden hospital to be told she was, after all, a carrier of BRCA1, the news was utterly devastating. It was worse than being told I had cancer in the first place. By this stage, my hair had grown back and I felt my life was back to normal: now I was told I had a 50:50 chance of getting breast cancer again, and that I should consider the possibility of having a double mastectomy to reduce the risk.
But on top of that, I now had to tell Claire and Lorna that they, too, might be carriers and then they, too, would be at high risk of breast cancer.
A BRCA gene mutation isnt the most common cause of breast cancer. According to Martin Ledwick of Cancer Research UK, fewer than one in 10 cases of the disease are linked to it. But where the gene is identified, theres a higher risk of getting breast cancer. Up to 65% of women who carry the BRCA1 gene, and 45% of women who carry the BRCA2 gene will develop breast cancer by the age of 70, he says. So while it doesnt mean cancer is a given, it does mean its worth considering preventive surgery a double mastectomy to reduce the risk of breast cancer, and an oophorectomy, to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer, which is also higher in BRCA carriers.
Although she knows it wasnt rational, and that she cant possibly be held responsible for it, Tamsin says she felt the weight of responsibility of having to tell her sisters about the gene. They had seen what Id gone through, and I knew they would now be thinking, will I have all those horrible experiences ahead of me, too? Like Tamsin, they had choices to make: and the first was whether to be tested for the gene.
Whats interesting in a family is that different people react totally differently to the same piece of news, says Tamsin. It wasnt just Lorna and Claire there were others affected, relatives on Clives side of the family and my mum and her relatives. Some people wanted to have the test so they knew one way or the other; others preferred to wait and see; others wanted to have surveillance so any tumour would be discovered as early as possible.
For Tamsin, there was a different dilemma. I had to think about whether to have a double mastectomy. At first, I was completely opposed to that: I really wanted to keep my breasts, they felt like such an important part of me. Also, Id had enough of hospitals and medical treatment.
Eventually, though, she decided to have the operation. Ive got a young child, and I thought I owed it to her and Tom to do everything I could to reduce my risk of a further cancer, she says.
When the operation took place, in February 2012, there was more bad news: Tamsin already had a second cancer in her other breast. More chemotherapy followed, as well as a failed reconstruction; and because the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, these also had to be removed. Things seemed to go from bad to worse and all the time, I knew my sisters, as well as supporting me, were thinking this could be what lay ahead for them, says Tamsin.
After her double mastectomy in 2012, she had her ovaries removed the following year. But this is another operation you dont just walk away from there are big consequences to it. You go through an early menopause and its life-changing, she says. I like the fact that Angelina Jolie, who made the same choices as me, brought the BRCA gene to everyones attention, but I dont think the suffering that goes with it has been fully appreciated.
Meanwhile, first Claire, and then Lorna, had decided to be tested. For Claire, who is 37, it took a while for the enormity of the news that she might be affected by the BRCA gene to sink in. Id never met my birth father, Clive, but my mum had told me that somewhere out there I had two half-sisters, she says. And then one day Mum came round and said she needed to talk to me about something: Clive had contacted her about Tamsin having the gene. This was before Angelina Jolie, so I had no idea what it meant but I was worried.
My GP referred me to a geneticist, and after counselling I decided to have the test Ive got a young son, and felt I needed all the information I could get. Six weeks later, she got the news that she, too, was a carrier. By this stage, Tamsin had had her preventive surgery and found out she had cancer again so I decided it was too much of a risk not to have the operation. She had a double mastectomy and reconstruction in 2013, and has just had her ovaries removed.
Lorna, who is 45, was the last of the three sisters to be tested. Im the kind of person whos happy trundling along, so I thought I didnt want to know, she says. But after a couple of years I was worrying about every little bump and ailment and whether it was cancer.
She decided to have the test in March 2014. Ive never told my sisters this, but I was worried that I might be the only one of us who didnt have the gene. It sounds odd, but I thought Id feel guilty having to tell them I was BRCA-free. Sadly, she didnt have to: she, too, tested positive.
Id already decided to have the surgery, she says. I didnt want to live with this ticking time-bomb.
For all three sisters, being brought together has been a silver lining to the dark cloud of BRCA but they dont want to minimise that cloud, or what its meant to their lives. Its been a very tough journey, and although its been wonderful to get to know Claire, the impact of the gene has coloured everything, says Tamsin. Apart from anything, theres always been one or other or us going through major surgery.
Claire says having two new sisters has been a brilliant boon to her life. Lorna and I live quite near one another in Manchester and Cheshire, so its been great being able to meet up. When I was a teenager, I used to wonder about these sisters I knew nothing about, so its wonderful to have got to know them eventually. And given what weve had to face up to, its great that all of us know exactly what the others are going through weve always had someone to talk to who understands.
Lorna agrees: Weve had one another and been able to compare scars and nipples and lack of nipples, she says. My big hope now is that, at some point in the future, we can put BRCA into the box where it belongs, and just enjoy our lives together.
