ello :D i was wondering if you had any hcs for dtqk boxing scenarios? every time sap gets donos where he’s asked about who he’d win in a fight with i go insane
i haven’t stopped thinking about dream massaging george’s biceps after a boxing workout and george getting all giggly about it for over a year lmao
(Hi thank you thank you for the ask, I’m a big fan of yours :)))
They’d do boxing-lite, I imagine. Padding and no head shots. The fight ends when whoever is reffing says it does or one gives up. It’s for show and for fun. Of course, some of them get wayyyy to into it. (Sapnap. Sapnap, and also Sapnap)
Lmao I love Sap he’s so ballsy. Like I get he’s strong, we can all see his muscles but…pls he’s so small?? And he always wants to fighttt. I bet he starts off real strong and it goes downhill quickly against the majority of them. The onlyyy person he’d be able to get ahead with is Quackity.
Speaking of Quackity, what in the world is he going to do?? He’s so tiny and noodle-y. That boy can’t fight. The others don’t want to go to tough on him, probably just little tummy taps that really just make him giggle. The teasing possibilities for Quackity are endless too. Mickey Mouse boxing? Guys Plssss? His beanie?
Karl has the most potential out of all of them. I imagine him having a hard time holding back his giggles during all the ‘seriousness’ though. But I think he’s strong!! Luckily, he’s a sweetie. Like, he’ll meme them, but he can’t help but be a sweetieeee in the end. He’s such a cuddle bug, the second he wins he just clings to them, nuzzling their face into his opponents neck. “I’m sorry!!!”
I probably would have thought George would do better if I hadn’t already seen that video where George, Wilbur, and Jack go to the gym and he’s the only one who doesn’t take it serious for even a second. Literaly giggling and joking and jumping the whole time. This isn’t his scene and everything is so so funny. I bet it would hard for the other boys to step to him with his big goofy grin. And his boxing stance?? Remember him winding his arm up like popeye? Pfft.
I think this scenario would stress Dream outttt ahaha. He doesn’t want his boys to be hurt. Also, he’s the largest by far and knows he would just decimate the others. Picture this- Dream using his big boxing-gloved hand to hold back Sapnap’s forehead, holding him at arms length, while Sapnap just screams and swings at the air between them. I’d say most of the fights and training with Dream would just devolve into something similar.
I think if anyone would push it from boxing into a full blown tickle fight it would be him, too. Cuz he actually doesn’t want to hurt any of them even if it’s not going to be that bad. Also, how could he even resist with George or Karl? They’re both there just being so giggly and stupid. If Dream tossed his own gloves aside and then cornered them and attacked their sides and tummies…perfectly fair right?
And the aftercare aspect with Dream is so cute stahp 🥺🥺 I headcannon he’s kinda mad that they even wanted to do this, but now he wants to take care of them. His dummies. George bicep massage?? I’m dead I’m dying. “George stay still, you’ll feel better in the long run!!” *George squirming and giggling hysterically, pinned in place by mama-Dream*
And I actually always headcannon Quackity’s worse spot as his back and Karl’s worse spot as his neck/shoulders. So now I’m picturing them off to the side watching Dream tickle tor-I mean massage George and are just like :0. Maybe they look at each other. Quackity’s poor little face heats up at everything so I’m sure Dream would catch on instantly. “Don’t worry, I’ll help you guys next!”

Now that I have finished the ARC I was reading, I can finally tell you what it is!
Beauty and Deceit by Carol Beth Anderson!
It's a Beauty and the Beast retelling with fae!
Here's the blurb:
Aeryn is hungry, perpetually exhausted, and short on hope. Ever since her merchant father lost everything to pirates, the twenty-two-year-old has worked endlessly to meet the needs of her impoverished family. But it's never enough.
That all changes when a mysterious faerie invites her to a competition hosted by a Fae beast looking for a wife. Tor, the castle-dwelling creature, is wealthy enough to provide for Aeryn's family ... and she's desperate enough to say yes.
The castle is beautiful, straight out of Aeryn's dreams. Tor is more suited to her nightmares, with his red eyes, long claws, and rat-like tail. But looks can be deceiving ...
Then there are the other contestants, nine powerful faerie females. Aeryn is a mortal. How is she supposed to compete with their otherworldly beauty—and thwart the curse magic some of them wield?
The complicated situation quickly turns impossible for Aeryn. As her romance with Tor progresses, she also finds herself drawn to Wyatt, the castle gardener. He's nothing like the powerful Tor, yet Aeryn's feelings for him keep blurring the lines between friendship and attraction.
Winning Tor's heart is the only way Aeryn can save her family. But can she fend off the attacks of powerful faerie females, ignore her growing desire for Wyatt, and let herself fall for a monster?
If you like fairytale retellings, bookish heroines, love triangles, and a little bit of steam, you'll love Beauty and Deceit.
***
Originally published on Kindle Vella as Beauty and the Beast: A Faerie Tale Retelling .
This story is romantic, and there's mild steam. The intimacy is open door but with minimal explicit detail. Written for NA (new adult) audiences, appropriate for ages 16+.
*Copied from Goodreads*
And here's my review:
Ok, so first of all, I love fae. What's really funny is I hadn't heard the word until last year. I also love fairy tale retellings, especially Beauty and the Beast.
This was an awesome mix of Beauty and the Beast, fae, and The Selection. Like I said before, The Selection wasn't my cup of tea, but the idea was interesting.
I enjoyed listening to it very much! The characters were written well, and the plot was interesting!
The images I got while listening to this were beautiful! The author certainly knows how to paint a picture with words!
I also love listening to audio books that the author narrates themselves. That way I know I have the pronunciation of the names right! 😂
Now for triggers:
So, as said at the end of the blurb, this one is a bit steamy. She goes into a little more detail with the kissing than I'd like, (I prefer less tongue talk) when it gets to the other things, there is thankfully little to no detail. Like you know what's going on, but you don't get all the lovely pictures that come with it.
There is also quite a bit of swearing, which, as I've said before, I don't really mind, but I know some people do.
Also, once again, some people will find this the opposite of a trigger, but I'm putting it here anyway, there was a lesbian couple. No detail with them, they were just there.
I can't think of any other triggers, but I may have missed something. I'm not perfect!
So, in my opinion, this was a good book! If you don't mind a bit of steam which was really not graphic other than the tongues, I definitely recommend you check out this book. It was a lot of fun!
Now hopefully I can finish the other two books I'm working on and get a new review out for you soon!

The Word for World is Forest. By Ursula K. LeGuin. Tor, 1972.
Rating: 4.5/5 stars
Genre: science fiction, novella
Part of a Series? Sort of - occurs after The Dispossessed but before Planet of Exile.
Summary: Centuries in the future, Terrans have established a logging colony & military base named "New Tahiti" on a tree-covered planet whose small, green-furred, big-eyed inhabitants have a culture centered on lucid dreaming. Terran greed spirals around native innocence & wisdom, overturning the ancient society.
Humans have learned interstellar travel from the Hainish (the origin-planet of all humanoid races, including Athsheans). Various planets have been expanding independently, but during the novel it's learned that the League of All Worlds has been formed. News arrives via an ansible, a new discovery. Previously they had been cut off, 27 light years from home.
Terran colonists take over the planet locals call Athshe, meaning "forest," rather than "dirt," like their home planet Terra. They follow the 19th century model of colonization: felling trees, planting farms, digging mines & enslaving indigenous peoples. The natives are unequipped to comprehend this. They're a subsistence race who rely on the forests & have no cultural precedent for tyranny, slavery or war. The invaders take their land without resistance until one fatal act sets rebellion in motion & changes the people of both worlds forever.
***Full review below.***
Content Warnings: violence, blood, slavery, references to rape
Overview: I love Ursula K. LeGuin's work, but for some reason, I hadn't picked up this novella. It was sitting on my shelf, so I figured "why not" and dove right in. Overall, this is a very well-crafted novella with a strong anti-colonialist narrative. While not every character or plot is as developed as what you might expect out of a novel, it feels like the message matters more than the individual characters, so in that respect, everything works. So partially out of appreciation and partially because of my love for LeGuin, this book gets a high rating from me.
Writing: LeGuin's prose is described as "quiet" and "straightforward" on the cover of my edition, and I think that's apt. Sentences are clear and concise, and I had no real trouble finding my way. The only thing that I think might give readers trouble is some of the lingo, but only if they go into this book cold (having not read other books in the series).
I will say, though, that I very much appreciated that LeGuin depicts violence without indulging in the spectacle. While there are aome shocking moments, LeGuin doesn't spend a long time on the individual acts. Instead, she lingers on the effects, which showcases how violence changes people.
Plot: The plot of this book primarily follows three characters: Selver (an Athshean who leads a revolt against the humans), Lyubov (a scientist who studies the Athsheans), and Davidson (a captain who is hell bent on subduing the Athsheans in order to colonize the planet). The humans have established several settlements on the forrested planet of Athshean for the purposes of shipping wood back to a depleted Earth. They use the Athsheans (who they label "creechies") as slave labor, though they insist the work is "voluntary." The plot begins with Selver gathering support from various "tribes" to attack the human settlements and drive their oppressors from their land.
This plot borrows heavily from the historical treatment of Indigenous Americans as well as some language that justified the enslavement of Africans. Because of this historical consciousness, LeGuin is able to paint a convincing picture of colonialism and unequivocally condemns it. While we may have sympathy for individual humans, LeGuin makes clear that morally, we should be on the Athsheans' side.
But what I also liked was the way LeGuin discusses how colonization changes the Athsheans. LeGuin makes a big deal of the fact that prior to human colonization, the Athsheans did not commit violence against each other (at least, not in hatred). After human occupation, however, their eyes are opened to new concepts, and Selver laments that his people can't unlearn them, even if they drive humans away forever. I didn't get the impression that LeGuin was infantalizing the Athsheans by portraying them as universally peaceful; they had their own ways of resolving conflicts that didn't involve violence, so instead, the message felt like a condemnation of violence itself. But this condemnation, thankfully, is never used to criticize the Athsheans; though they use violence against their oppressors, LeGuin is clear that it is, in this moment, just - probably because the Athsheans have no other options.
Characters: There are a number of characters in this book, but for the purposes of this review, in going to focus on the three main POV ones listed above.
Selver, the Athshean "rebel leader" is incredibly sympathetic in that he desperately wants to free his people but doesn't do so without buy in from respected members of his community. I really appreciated the way LeGuin showed him to be grappling with the effects that both colonization and committing violence has on him; though he never second guesses the morality of his cause, he does feel that violence cops away at some part of him, and it's incredibly sad to watch. The only thing that I didn't like much about Selver was that he had a dead wife in his past; Selver's wife was raped and murdered by Davidson, and though Selver exposes some pain at her loss, she doesn't seem to be missed as much as one might expect. I can't quite tell if I'm glad Selver's actions aren't primarily driven by his angst, but I do wish his wife had more of a presence in his memory.
Lyubov is a human scientist who has a positive relationship with the Athsheans. He has learned their language and visits their settlements, and he is even close friends with Selver. I found the friendship to be incredibly moving, mostly because Lyubov and Selver find themselves torn between loyalty to their people and the necessary actions they must take. Lyubov in particular struggled with trying to figure out his role in the Athshean uprising; he never thinks that the humans are correct, but he also doesn't wish to see more bloodshed. It was a good portrait of what allyship could look like, particularly allyship that is difficult.
Davidson, the captain, is the embodiment of the most racist and elitist characteristics that one might ascribe to settler colonialism. While his perspective wasn't pleasant to read, it was necessary; his thoughts exposed how the humans viewed the Athsheans as beastial and effeminate, just because their way of life doesn't resemble the militaristic one that the humans bring to Athshean. It's quite easy to hate Davidson because LeGuin is not subtle, but perhaps this directness is needed to make her overall message hit home.
TL;DR: The Word for World is Forest is a powerful, anti-colonial novella that justifies the use of violence (against oppression) while lamenting its effects. While not as complex as a full novel, this book had a coherent message that motivates the reader to critique settler colonialism in our own world.

As all of you probably already know, Jared had a solo virtual panel last Sunday (on the 22nd). If by chance you haven’t seen it I highly recommend checking it out, as always I will be linking to it at the end of the post. For anyone curious, he did talk a bit about the final episode of Supernatural and about Sam’s ending.
Y’all know the drill so let’s just jump into my thoughts:
- I’m still not used to seeing him with his new short hair, and I love his longer hair so I hope he grows it out again someday, but it looks so good on him! It makes him look younger and so cute 😍
- Speaking of his hair, he’s not used to it either! He was asking for hair advice at the beginning of the panel because he doesn’t know how to manage it yet 😂
- He was asked what his 3 favorite episodes are and he said: the finale, Sacrifice and French Mistake. The Finale because he is a fan of storytelling and for him the finale answered a lot of questions and wrapped things up in a way that he found meaningful, poignant, and frustrating but in a wonderful way, Sacrifice because it’s another episode were we really get to see inside the boys and see their commitment to each other, and French Mistake because it was fun and it really stands out in his mind as an hour of tv that he doesn’t know if any other show could do.
- He said Sam and Cordell Walker would be friends, I’m soft 🥺
- Was asked his fav HP book, movie and spell. Book and movie are pretty much the same: Deathly Hallows, pt 2 in the case of the movie. Spell he said Expecto Patronum...then he said Sam and Dean were each other’s patronus...because when Sam was in trouble Dean was there and when Dean was in trouble Sam was there...I’m fine.... JARED PADALECKI WHO GAVE YOU THE RIGHT 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
- I didn’t even have time to come down from those feels cause right afterwards he was asked his craziest, funniest bts moment he had on spn through all the years, and he gave two examples: when he was waiting for Tom to be born and when he and Jensen were waiting for the twins to be born.
I was not ready for this man to go into a full blown story about the day the twins were born. If you hear screaming, it's me losing my mind.
So, he mentions how when Tom was to be born he was anxiously waiting for G to message him and how after she did they filmed a couple more scenes before Clif drove him to Seattle. And he says that it was the same when Jensen’s twins were to be born, that everyone was glued to their phones and that it was a bit farther travel because D had the twins in Austin and so and I quote “we had to go way far away”. Then he told the story about how Jensen left his passport behind- I think this might be the first time we’ve heard Jared tell this story cause we’ve heard it from Jensen but I can’t recall Jared telling it by himself but basically for those that don't know the story goes that the day before D was to go to the hospital to have the twins, the boys were filming and Jared asked Jensen if he had his passport and according to Jared Jensen was all “I’m not the one who forgets things, of course I do” so Jared asked him as a favor that the next time they went to their trailers he just touch his passport, so they keep working and when they get a break they go to their trailers and when they meet back up...turns out Jared was right, Jensen did not have his passport.
They had been attending cons so he had left it in another bag thinking he was going to be taking that bag with him, which he didn’t, so they were stuck in Canada. Thankfully, they have friends who work in the Austin PD so they contacted them and they were able to help them deal with customs and immigration and everything, and Richard Speight who was directing the episode they were filming at the time was able to wrap up with them so it was hectic but they were able to get home in time which btw is exactly how he puts it “it was a pretty hectic moment but we got home in time.”
There’s just something about him telling this story completely unprompted, and the way he tells it, and the look on his face as he’s telling it, and that he says it was a happy ending, and the “we got home in time” like you can just tell this was an important moment for him. And not important in the way of it’s important to him because of his friend or that his friend be there on time, no, no, it was important to him that they both be there, it was important to him that they both be home. Like, hearing him tell it you can tell that wasn’t a hectic moment for Jensen only, it was for him as well; and him mentioning the twins being born along with his first born it just gives me all the feels. (Timestamp)
- Moving on, when talking about how his acting career got started, he got up to get a Teen Choice surfboard he had won a couple years ago and we got a very nice glimpse of padabooty. I was staring appropriately 🍑👀
- He was asked by a fan from Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷) which country Sam and Dean would like to visit on vacation, and he said Puerto Rico!!!!!!! 😭 He said if Sam and Dean could have found a demon or something on the island they would have been here in a snap- Jared baby we got ghosts, aliens, el chupacabra they could have found something 😂 Not gonna lie every time he said Puerto Rico I squealed a little 💓
- He shared that there were some ad libs in the finale, and unsurprisingly they were the best scenes; there was some ad libbing in the barn scene when Dean dies and the boys greeting to each other in Heaven was also ad libbed. Bless this boy for trying to give Dabb and Singer credit but the little additions, the meaningful ones that had thought put into it, that called back to the Pilot they were all the boys and really by the sound of it mostly Jared. Like, even Sam’s son telling Sam it was okay for him to die like Sam said to Dean in the barn was Jared’s idea.
Also this fucking softy, he started thinking about Dean’s death scene while answering this question and he got all emotional and misty eyed 😭
- Another Easter egg that the boys were the ones who added, was Sam keeping Dean’s watch, him and Jensen thought it would be something Sam would have kept and worn.
When talking about that Easter egg he said him and Jensen are big watch fans, I don’t know why I found that so cute.
- He was asked his feelings towards Sam’s ending, and he said he had about a year and a half to think about it cause he had obviously found out way before we did, and that at first it was a little jarring and abrupt but then he says how would you feel about anybody’s ending? and that if you were told how you’re gonna pass whether you’d ever be okay with it so for him no matter how Sam ended it would have been difficult for him to wrap his head around, but once he did digest and spend over a year with it he, personally, feels it was the best way to tell Sam’s story and that Sam tried to live his life the way Dean would have wanted him too; he said that he’s passionate about Sam’s ending being appropriate and Sam got the ending Dean fought for so for him he’s as happy as he can be with Sam’s ending. (Timestamp)
So....here’s the thing, I’m happy that he’s happy with how Sam’s story ended but- I don’t know, y’all know I have my issues with the finale and Sam’s ending is one of the big ones so it’s probably my own issues coloring my view of this but it sounds like while he’s happy with the ending Sam got maybe it’s not the ending he would have wanted and like much like Jensen he too had his struggles with the ending like it sounds like a mild version of what Jensen has mentioned: he struggled with the ending at first but then after a year of thinking about it he accepted it and finds that he’s as okay as he’s going to be with it and it’s an ending that’s still appropriate to the character so he's happy with it. But like I said, I have my own issues with the end and that’s probably coloring my view.
- He was asked about props that he kept and he shared that Jason, his stand in on the show made him and Jensen a very sweet gift. On the final day of filming he got two picture frames and made copies of the boys last call sheet, and framed them along with their tape marks.
- When talking about what it’s like to be both an actor and producer now for Walker he mentioned how he and Jensen sort of became, especially in the later years, creative producers on the set of spn even though they didn’t have the title. I will, forever remain, of the opinion that they should have been named or given producer credits for this show and that they deserved a proper seat at the table. Honestly, the writers of this show had no idea the treasures that they had with these men.
- He was asked script changes due to covid and he said the biggest change he knows of is that originally they were going to bring back a lot of the cast to be in a scene or two in Heaven. But he also says that maybe it ended up the way it should and that it was pretty magical storytelling that it all came full circle to being about the boys because it was always about Sam and Dean.
And I agree, it worked out for the best because I’m telling y’all I know it in my gut that if it hadn’t been for covid restrictions that ending would have been a carousel of characters and wouldn’t have been nearly as impactful or brother centered as it turned out to be.
He also once again mentioned getting everyone together for a reboot in a couple years, I'm telling y'all I wouldn't be surprised if there was a reboot in a couple years. But I hope they don’t bring back everyone if there is one...🙃
- Because he's not done attacking me he said that Sam's Heaven is mostly Dean 😭
Another thing that was Jared's idea was having Sam dressed as close as possible to how he was in the Pilot because to him Sam's happiest moment was getting back on the road with his brother 😭
- He said he and Jensen will definitely work together again! He hopes sooner rather than later, and said that Jensen has a standing invitation to do whatever he wants on Walker. He doesn't know if he'll be able to go up to Toronto since he's so busy with Walker but him and Jensen will find something somewhere.
This man has my number, if he's not coming at me with the brother feels he's coming at me with the j2 ones; this made me so happy to hear, I'm not surprised in the slightest but it still made me so happy to hear him say he and Jensen plan to work together again in the future and it's so cute how he said sooner rather than later like he worked with that man for 15yrs you'd think he'd be ready for a break but nope he already wants to work with him again and is looking at his schedule like 'umm what week can I sneak off to Toronto?' ❤
Now, if I may take a moment to be petty and say suck it! to those who thought the end of spn meant the end of j2's relationship.
- The panel ended with him giving some advice for anxiety. He shared that something that has worked for him is accepting it ain't going anywhere but you can learn to live with it.
And that was the panel! Like I said if by chance you haven't seen it I highly reccomend it, it was a great panel, he was all in his brother feels and he was mentioning Jensen left and right, and he looked adorable- honestly, like it just made me happy and gave me a needed cheer up.

my favourite quotes from code
"Okay, pal." Ben gripped our captive at both ends. "Count your blessings that my friend here is a total softy."
It'd been nice fishing alone with Ben. The two of us didn't spend much one-on-one time together, and he often went mute when Hi and Shelton were around. Probably because those two never let anyone get a word in edgewise.
"Don't be such a baby." I teased. "They're practically lap dogs."
"Lap dogs won't rip your face off. Or eat you."
"All in all," Shelton said, "this is a tremendously dumb game."
"You're a dumb game." Hi shot back.
More dramatic moans, but the boys stopped what they were doing.
"Fine." Hi.
"Whatever." Shelton.
"One time." Ben held up a single finger. "One."
"This game is popular?" Ben was sitting on his tackle box in the shade of a large Elm. "Sounds pretty nerdtastic to me."
"We can't all practice birdcalls like you."
"Honey, in my day a young lady didn't speak to her elders like that. We were taught manners." I was about to further reduce her opinion of my upbringing when the shade to Kit's office rose.
Kit once said I terrify him. He meant it in a good way. I think. Pretty sure.
"Tory!" Whitney squealed. "He's going to attack!"
"Maybe." I walked into the kitchen and snagged a diet coke from the fridge. "Try to protect your throat."
"Tory!!!"
"Later." Jason tossed a head nod to Hi and Shelton as he passed them. The Two Stooges clumsily returned the gesture.
Shelton drifted back to my side wearing a sly grin. "That was smooth, player."
"Shut it."
"I know." I signed, turned. Ben often knew what I was thinking.
Shelton rapped a short sting of characters just above the signature: Hemxvivobz
"That's useful." Hi said. "Sounds like a sex position."
"Like everything you do is cool," Hi snorted. "Still have that ninja costume you wore to my twelfth birthday party?"
"Ben, that's brilliant."
Suddenly, the boy was all blushes.
"No big deal. Easy, really."
"We have got to work on our decision making process." Shelton was shaking his head. "Right now we just follow Tory over every cliff."
"Oh, boohoo." I mocked. "Get moving."
Already handsome, flaring took his attractiveness to a whole new level. His coppery skin practically glowed in the evening light. I turned quickly, surprised by the colour rising to my cheeks.
Ben took a breathe, seemed to realize how hard he was clutching me. His hand dropped as if burned.
"Come on Shel-Dogg," Hi stuck out a fist. "After everything we've done, the dark shouldn't scare you anymore."
"And yet, it does." A moment passed, then Shelton reluctantly bumped Hi's fist.
Terrified, I lunged towards my wolf dog. An arm circled my wait and dragged me to the ground.
"Just follow my lead." Code for: I have no idea.
"Very nice," I said. "I wasn't aware break dancing was back in style."
"Now you are." Hi popped open a bag of Bugles. "I also do a killer mime."
Ben smiled for the first time all afternoon. It was nice to see. When he deigned to flash his pearly whites, Ben went from sullen boy to charming young man. I much preferred the latter.
"What happened?"
"A crazy female line backer pummeled my chest." Hi grumbled. "She's still pinning me to the ground. And she isn't as light as she might think."
Their Cinderella run had made Shelton and Hi popular with the older kids. The two were joking and talking trash, seemingly holding their own. For some reason, this made me proud. What an odd thought.
Without thinking, I launched myself at Ben, catching him off guard. The weight of my body knocked him over backward. Never hesitating, I jumped on his chest and started slapping his face.
Ben was slouched in the copilots chair, too dizzy to stand.
"He's no good for you," Ben said abruptly. "Doesn't deserve you."
"Just be quiet." Soft. "We're almost home."
Ben's eyes were slits. "That guy, he's..." His hand rose, fell. "Dime a dozen. Doesn't know anything. About you. The real you."
Mercifully, Ben trailed off. In moments, he was snoring.
Hi and I headed for the lot. I hoped Wimpy and Vomitasaurus and gotten their acts together.
"Off-limits." Shelton muttered. I chose not to hear.
"I could kiss you, Tory."
"Some other time."
"Choir practice?" Ben rolled his eyes. "Perhaps your worst cover story ever."
Hi grabbed Shelton by the cheeks. "You, sir, are a genius." He leaned forward to kiss eachother one.
"I try." Shelton flailed as Hi his first sloppy smacker. "Man, get off me!"
"Problem? Why?"
Hi looked at me strangely. "We're a little busy Friday night."
"Busy? Doing what?"
The boys exchanged a look. Hi snorted.
"I don't know about you," Shelton said, "but I'm escorting my friend Victoria to her debutante ball."
"Fine! I won't go anywhere else alone. Ever again. Scouts honour."
"You're not a scout," Hi pointed out. "No loopholes, Miss Brennan."
I nearly ground my teeth. "On my honour as a lady, Hiram."
"Excellent! I accept."
Hi lifted the heavy cream envelope penned with my name. "What's this?"
"Oh, that." Could anything matter less right now? "You guys are gonna love it."
I passed along our invitation to the Claybourne Manor. Their groans drew every eye in the room.
"Ben, stop the boat."
He looked at me funny. "We're in the middle of the ocean, Victoria."
"Jason's my friend," I said quietly, "but he's not a Viral. He's not part of my pack. He'll never mean as much to me as you do."
Ben's eyes snapped to meet mine. He stared at me intently. I felt my cheeks burn.
"And Hi and Shelton, of course." I added quickly.
"Of course."
"We're always one step behind. Running straight into whatever direction the Gamemaster points. He's owning us right now. Scripting our every freaking move!"
Abruptly Ben was beside me, his hand finding mine. "Later, Tor."
Voices intruded from far away.
"Oh man, she really did it this time!"
"Should we call a nurse?" Panicky. "An ambulance?"
"And say what, exactly?" hissed a third. "That our friend passed out after some bad telepathy?"
I considered running away. Joining a travelling circus. I had a savings account, and a tiny trust fund courtesy of Aunt Tempe. I could probably get as far as Singapore before anyone noticed. I'm very resourceful.
Hi, naturally, had opted for flair. His tux was crushed purple velvet with tails, accented by all white silk—tie, vest, gloves and suspenders. He completed the outfit with a freaking top hat and cane. Whitney had nearly fainted on seeing him.
Ben lurched forward to catch my elbow. "Jason will escort her."
Unable to speak, I thanked him with my eyes. "You'll do great," Ben whispered, patting my hand. "Just picture them all in their underwear." I gave a decidedly unladylike snort.
"Don't choke, Boat Girl."
I almost laughed. "Step off, bitch."
"Oh, we're, um playing a pretty serious game of Dungeons and Dragons," Hi stammered. "I'm, like, the head ... unicorn master, and Tory has to find my magic... beans. Seeds."
Hi cracked the door. "Ladies first."
"Why, thank you, sir."
For the hell of it, I dropped into another formal curtesy. The boys snickered. Then, straightening their soiled garments as best they could, gave me a polite round of applause.
"You okay, Tor?" Shelton had a sandbag on one shoulder, hauled up from the beach. "We don't have time for an ER run."
"We could amputate," Hi suggested. "Shelton, get the whiskey."
"Comedians, both of you."
"I dreamed it."
"Aha! You dreamed it." Hi yawned and rubbed both his eyes. "I think it's time we get you medicated."
"Good thing we're Virals," Ben said.
Our eyes met. He actually smiled.
"I'm with Tory," Ben said firmly. "To the end."
"Thank you." I felt a rush of affection. When it really matters, I can always count on Ben.
I stared at Ben, aghast, incapable of speech. My friend. My confidant. Trusted above all others on earth.

Blog tour day! Today I’m sharing some information about Lobizona by Romina Garber, as well as an excerpt. Scroll down to learn more.
Tumblr media
Some people ARE illegal.
Lobizonas do NOT exist.
Both of these statements are false.
Manuela Azul has been crammed into an existence that feels too small for her. As an undocumented immigrant who's on the run from her father's Argentine crime-family, Manu is confined to a small apartment and a small life in Miami, Florida.
Until Manu's protective bubble is shattered.
Her surrogate grandmother is attacked, lifelong lies are exposed, and her mother is arrested by ICE. Without a home, without answers, and finally without shackles, Manu investigates the only clue she has about her past—a mysterious "Z" emblem—which leads her to a secret world buried within our own. A world connected to her dead father and his criminal past. A world straight out of Argentine folklore, where the seventh consecutive daughter is born a bruja and the seventh consecutive son is a lobizón, a werewolf. A world where her unusual eyes allow her to belong.
As Manu uncovers her own story and traces her real heritage all the way back to a cursed city in Argentina, she learns it's not just her U.S. residency that's illegal. . . .it’s her entire existence.
Early Praise: “With vivid characters that take on a life of their own, beautiful details that peel back the curtain on Romina's Argentinian heritage, and cutting prose that shines a light on the difficulties of being the ‘other’ in America today, Romina Garber crafts a timely tale of identity and adventure that every teenager should read.”–Tomi Adeyemi New York Times bestselling author of Children of Blood and Bone
“Romina Garber has created an enthralling young adult fantasy led by an unforgettable Latinx character Manu. In Manu we find a young girl who not only must contend with the injustice of being undocumented she also discovers a hidden world that may explain her very existence. I fell in love with this world where wolves, witches and magic thrives, all in a rich Latinx setting!” –Lilliam Rivera, author of Dealing in Dreams and The Education of Margot Sanchez

Excerpt:
2
I awaken with a jolt.
It takes me a moment to register that I’ve been out for three days. I can tell by the well-rested feeling in my bones—I don’t sleep this well any other time of the month.
The first thing I’m aware of as I sit up  is an urgent need  to use the bathroom. My muscles are heavy from lack of use, and it takes some concentration to keep my steps light so I won’t wake Ma or Perla. I leave the lights off to avoid meeting my gaze in the mirror, and after tossing out my heavy-duty period pad and replacing it with a tampon, I tiptoe back to Ma’s and my room.
I’m always disoriented after lunaritis, so I feel separate from my waking life as I survey my teetering stacks of journals and used books, Ma’s yoga mat and collection of weights, and the posters on the wall of the planets and constellations I hope to visit one day.
After a moment, my shoulders slump in disappointment.
This month has officially peaked.
I yank the bleach-stained blue sheets off the mattress and slide out the pillows from their cases, balling up the bedding to wash later. My body feels like a crumpled piece of paper that needs to be stretched, so I plant my feet together in the tiny area between the bed and the door, and I raise my hands and arch my back, lengthening my spine disc by disc. The pull on my tendons releases stored tension, and I exhale in relief.
Something tugs at my consciousness, an unresolved riddle that must have timed out when I surfaced . . . but the harder I focus, the quicker I forget. Swinging my head forward, I reach down to touch my toes and stretch my spine the other way—
My ears pop so hard, I gasp.
I stumble back to the mattress, and I cradle my head in my hands as a rush of noise invades my mind. The buzzing of a fly in the window blinds, the gunning of a car engine on the street below, the groaning of our building’s prehistoric eleva- tor. Each sound is so crisp, it’s like a filter was just peeled back from my hearing.
My pulse picks up as I slide my hands away from my temples to trace the outlines of my ears. I think the top parts feel a little . . . pointier.
I ignore the tingling in my eardrums as I cut through the living room to the kitchen, and I fill a stained green bowl with cold water. Ma’s asleep on the turquoise couch because we don’t share our bed this time of the month. She says I thrash around too much in my drugged dreams.
I carefully shut the apartment door behind me as I step out into the building’s hallway, and I crack open our neighbor’s window to slide the bowl through. A black cat leaps over to lap up the drink.
“Hola, Mimitos,” I say, stroking his velvety head. Since we’re both confined to this building, I hear him meowing any time his owner, Fanny, forgets to feed him. I think she’s going senile.
“I’ll take you up with me later, after lunch. And I’ll bring you some turkey,” I add, shutting the window again quickly. I usually let him come with me, but I prefer to spend the morn- ings after lunaritis alone. Even if I’m no longer dreaming, I’m not awake either.
My heart is still beating unusually fast as I clamber up six flights of stairs. But I savor the burn of my sedentary muscles, and when at last I reach the highest point, I swing open the door to the rooftop.
It’s not quite morning yet, and the sky looks like blue- tinged steel. Surrounding me are balconies festooned with colorful clotheslines, broken-down properties with boarded- up windows, fuzzy-leaved palm trees reaching up from the pitted streets . . . and in the distance, the ground and sky blur where the Atlantic swallows the horizon.
El Retiro is a rundown apartment complex with all elderly residents—mostly Cuban, Colombian, Venezuelan, Nicara- guan, and Argentine immigrants. There’s just one slow, loud elevator in the building, and since I’m the youngest person here, I never use it in case someone else needs it.
I came up here hoping for a breath of fresh air, but since it’s summertime, there’s no caress of a breeze to greet me. Just the suffocating embrace of Miami’s humidity.
Smothering me.
I close my eyes and take in deep gulps of musty oxygen, trying to push the dread down to where it can’t touch me. The way Perla taught me to do whenever I get anxious.
My metamorphosis started this year. I first felt something
was different four full moons ago, when I no longer needed to squint to study the ground from up here. I simply opened my eyes to perfect vision.
The following month, my hair thickened so much that I had to buy bigger clips to pin it back. Next menstrual cycle came the growth spurt that left my jeans three inches too short, and last lunaritis I awoke with such a heightened sense of smell that I could sniff out what Ma and Perla had for dinner all three nights I was out.
It’s bad enough to feel the outside world pressing in on me, but now even my insides are spinning out of my control.
As Perla’s breathing exercises relax my thoughts, I begin  to feel the stirrings of my dreamworld calling me back. I slide onto the rooftop’s ledge and lie back along the warm cement, my body as stagnant as the stale air. A dragon-shaped cloud comes apart like cotton, and I let my gaze drift with Miami’s hypnotic sky, trying to call up the dream’s details before they fade . . .
What Ma and Perla don’t know about the Septis is they don’t simply sedate me for sixty hours—they transport me.
Every lunaritis, I visit the same nameless land of magic and mist and monsters. There’s the golden grass that ticks off time by turning silver as the day ages; the black-leafed trees that can cry up storms, their dewdrop tears rolling down their bark to form rivers; the colorful waterfalls that warn onlookers of oncoming danger; the hope-sucking Sombras that dwell in darkness and attach like parasitic shadows . . .
And the Citadel.
It’s a place I instinctively know I’m not allowed to go, yet I’m always trying to get to. Whenever I think I’m going to make it inside, I wake up with a start.
Picturing the black stone wall, I see the thorny ivy that
twines across its surface like a nest of guardian snakes, slith- ering and bunching up wherever it senses a threat.
The sharper the image, the sleepier I feel, like I’m slowly sliding back into my dream, until I reach my hand out tenta- tively. If I could just move faster than the ivy, I could finally grip the opal doorknob before the thorns—
Howling breaks my reverie.
I blink, and the dream disappears as I spring to sitting and scour the battered buildings. For a moment, I’m sure I heard a wolf.
My spine locks at the sight of a far more dangerous threat: A cop car is careening in the distance, its lights flashing and siren wailing. Even though the black-and-white is still too far away to see me, I leap down from the ledge and take cover behind it, the old mantra running through my mind.
Don’t come here, don’t come here, don’t come here.
A familiar claustrophobia claws at my skin, an affliction forged of rage and shame and powerlessness that’s been my companion as long as I’ve been in this country. Ma tells me I should let her worry about this stuff and only concern myself with studying, so when our papers come through, I can take my GED and one day make it to NASA—but it’s impossible not to worry when I’m constantly having to hide.
My muscles don’t uncoil until the siren’s howling fades and the police are gone, but the morning’s spell of stillness has broken. A door slams, and I instinctively turn toward the pink building across the street that’s tattooed with territorial graf- fiti. Where the alternate version of me lives.
I call her Other Manu.
The first thing I ever noticed about her was her Argentine fútbol jersey: #10 Lionel Messi. Then I saw her face and real- ized we look a lot alike. I was reading Borges at the time, and
it ocurred to me that she and I could be the same person in overlapping parallel universes.
But it’s an older man and not Other Manu who lopes down the street. She wouldn’t be up this early on a Sunday anyway. I arch my back again, and thankfully this time, the only pop I hear is in my joints.
The sun’s golden glare is strong enough that I almost wish I had my sunglasses. But this rooftop is sacred to me because it’s the only place where Ma doesn’t make me wear them, since no one else comes up here.
I’m reaching for the stairwell door when I hear it.
Faint footsteps are growing louder, like someone’s racing up. My heart shoots into my throat, and I leap around the corner right as the door swings open.
The person who steps out is too light on their feet to be someone who lives here. No El Retiro resident could make it up the stairs that fast. I flatten myself against the wall.
“Creo que encontré algo, pero por ahora no quiero decir nada.”
Whenever Ma is upset with me, I have a habit of translat- ing her words into English without processing them. I asked Perla about it to see if it’s a common bilingual thing, and she said it’s probably my way of keeping Ma’s anger at a distance; if I can deconstruct her words into language—something de- tached that can be studied and dissected—I can strip them of their charge.
As my anxiety kicks in, my mind goes into automatic trans- lation mode: I think I found something, but I don’t want to say anything yet.
The woman or girl (it’s hard to tell her age) has a deep, throaty voice that’s sultry and soulful, yet her singsongy accent is unquestionably Argentine. Or Uruguayan. They sound similar.
My cheek is pressed to the wall as I make myself as flat as possible, in case she crosses my line of vision.
“Si tengo razón, me harán la capitana más joven en la his- toria de los Cazadores.”
If I’m right, they’ll make me the youngest captain in the history of the . . . Cazadores? That means hunters.
In my eight years living here, I’ve never seen another per- son on this rooftop. Curious, I edge closer, but I don’t dare peek around the corner. I want to see this stranger’s face, but not badly enough to let her see mine.
“¿El encuentro es ahora? Che, Nacho, ¿vos no me podrías cubrir?”
Is the meeting right now? Couldn’t you cover for me, Nacho?
The che and vos sound like Argentinespeak. What if it’s Other Manu?
The exciting possibility brings me a half step closer, and now my nose is inches from rounding the corner. Maybe I can sneak a peek without her noticing.
“Okay,” I hear her say, and her voice sounds like she’s just a few paces away.
I suck in a quick inhale, and before I can overthink it, I pop my head out—
And see the door swinging shut.
I scramble over and tug it open, desperate to spot even a hint of her hair, any clue at all to confirm it was Other Manu— but she’s already gone.
All that remains is a wisp of red smoke that vanishes with the swiftness of a morning cloud.

Daily Monster #58: Assassin
Tumblr media
Okay, look, I know everyone out there has had an edgelord character at one point or another, but hear me out: I just had to sift through hundreds of pictures for what looked to be the exact same hooded character over and over again. To be honest, I have no idea how artists sit through their 5th dark and broody character commissions. For the love of god, at least try to have some variation! And those of you out there planning on commissioning similar portraits, I hope you tip your artist reeeeaal good.
Assassin
The basics
Tumblr media
All things considered, assassins have pretty average stat blocks; we’re looking at matching +0 STR, WIS, and CHA, with their INT only being slightly better at a +1. Their best two stats are their +2 CON and +3 DEX. All in numbers that we could even expect from low level player characters.
These trained killers have proficiency in DEX (+6) and INT (+4) as well as Acrobatics (+6), Deception (+3), Perception (+3) and most notably Stealth (+9).
In terms of durability and resistance, today’s monster is resistant to poison, has an AC of 15 thanks to their studded leather armor, and a decently hefty hit point pool of 12d8+24.
To finish things off, assassins come in all races and colors (though technically limited to medium humanoids) and can benefit from their own particular racial features. They also have a passive perception of 13, and are able to speak two languages on top of their unique Thieves’ Cant.
Today’s monster also shares quite a few features with the playable rogue subclass of the same name. For starters, the Assassinate feature automatically give out monster advantage on rolls against creatures who haven’t acted yet and makes it so that any hit scored this way is also a critical. When running this creature we also get access to Evasion and Sneak Attack, both of which also work exactly as they do for Assassin Rogues.
For actions, we get the Multiattack feature that allows for two shortsword strikes, but also have the option to use a light crossbow attack instead. What sets these attacks apart from the usual is that on top of doing the regular piercing or slashing damage, there is also the possibility for a hefty amount of poison damage on a failed save DC15 CON save.
Tumblr media
The lore
Well this one is easy… I don’t really think I have to explain what an assassin is to anyone; they’ve been an integral art of the game (and all media for that matter) for the longest of times.
You can find assassins pretty much everywhere in the world, from the most esteemed circles or royalty to the gutter streets of massive cities. Their specific skill set allows them to infiltrate any and all places required for them to take out their marks.
Whether hired by the wealthy or working undercover for any of many of the assassin guilds, once they strike it’s unlikely that why will leave any trace or witness to their crime.
In terms of specific lore, we can find some examples of assassin guilds throughout most of the official settings; from the notorious Zhentarim, and the Fire Knives, to the Jaezred Chaulssinin the Underdark.
The execution
The beauty about assassins everywhere is that it’s incredibly easy to set up an encounter with these guys as the baddies. Not only that, but they’re also ridiculously easy to run in combat while still packing quite a punch and have just the right proficiencies to get us to that anticipated “roll for initiative” call. Here are couple of ways in which you could set up your encounter:
Tumblr media
-Justice…kinda: Do you have an unruly party of so called “chaotic-neutral” adventurers that keep breaking the law and doing as they please throughout the land? Probably pissed quite a few powerful individual off too. Assassin, bounty hunter…you say tomato and I say tomato, really.
-Bodyguard duty: Are you a wealthy noble or magnate? Do you have vast amounts of cash and people who hate you for it who are now making plans to go after you? Why not hire a group of adventurers to guard tor most valuable asset (hint hint, it’s you!) and possibly unveil the people behind this nefarious plot?
-You done did it now: Let’s face it, our BBEG has better things to do than personally deal with these fools who keep ruining his plans, but he can’t exactly just let them keep doing that. Why not have them hire someone to take care of it?
In terms of how to play this out, it’s very important to keep in mind that, these are trained and proved professionals! Assassins know exactly what they’re doing and, more likely than not, have a ton of information on their marks. This is very important if their assignment turns out to be the party itself. Do keep in mind as well that, unless they’re part of some zealous movement and that is their reason for attacking, it’s unlikely for these guys to stick around much longer after things turn south for them; whatever payment they were offered is probably not worth their lives, after all.

The Rithmatist
Joel Saxon is a student at the prestigious private school known as Armedius Academy. As the son of a deceased chalkmaker and cleaning lady, Joel fails to fit in with the school’s student body, which consists largely of individuals from affluent families. Joel’s love of Rithmatics and desire to become a Rithmatist alienates him further from the rest of the student body. Most of Armedius’ students leave for summer vacation, leaving Joel alone with the students who failed their classes and the Rithmatists who are forced to continue their training in preparation for their impending battle at the tower of Nebrask. Joel’s summer elective involves working as a research assistant for Professor Fitch—a famous Rithmatist and historian who specializes in defensive Rithmatic lines. At first, Joel is disappointed when he realizes that he will be maintaining records of past censuses. However, when Rithmatic students go missing, the police seek Fitch’s help in cracking the case. Since he spends the summer working for Fitch, Joel is reluctantly asked to help. Melody Muns, Fitch’s remedial student, eventually joins the hunt as well. Can the trio solve the case before it’s too late?
I adored Brandon Sanderson’s The Rithmatist; it may be the best book I have ever read. I enjoyed Sanderson’s novel for several reasons. First, the novel maintained an excellent pace. It took the time to build up to major plot points before revealing them in a whirlwind, which swept me away over and over again. Second, I appreciated the fact that Sanderson chose to develop a new magical discipline involving chalk. I would argue that it loosely resembles Summoning in the sense that Rithmatists can create chalk drawings and bring them to life, but Rithmatics is its own distinct discipline. It involves both defensive and offensive uses and resides entirely within two-dimensions. (Summoning begins in two-dimensions, but often matures into a third once the creature has been summoned). I also appreciated the great lengths Sanderson went to when it came to explaining Rithmatics. The novel included diagrams as well as pictures with fairly in-depth descriptions, which described each of the magical form’s components. The diagrams included each line’s and strategy’s abilities, including strengths and shortcomings. It was obvious that Sanderson put a lot of thought, time, and effort into the development of Rithmatics.
Third, I was blown away by the amount of detail Sanderson poured into “intense” scenes such as battles between Rithmatists and attacks made on Armedius Academy’s student body. Instead of leaving me with a mere impression as to what was going on, Sanderson took the time to paint clear pictures of the novel’s plot. As a result, I began to feel as though I was a part of the novel, an observer who never had to guess what was going on. Fourth, Sanderson created a host of well-rounded, well-thought-out, interesting, and relatable characters. Joel Saxon is a prime example because he is passionate about Rithmatics—it’s not often that one finds an adolescent who is truly passionate about something. Thus, finding an individual who was driven by their passion felt truly refreshing. Joel is relatable because he wishes that his acquaintances were as interested in Rithmatics as he is. He’s also extremely smart, excelling in several of his courses. Naturally, he prioritizes the things he’s interested in, (Rithmatics), and procrastinates or ignores the things he’s less interested in, (math). However, Joel’s status as an outsider is what makes him the most relatable to Sanderson’s readers. Joel remarks that Armedius Academy’s student body “treated him with civility… but they didn’t include him,” (Sanderson 57). Joel was ostracized because he is a member of the lower class and obsessed with Rithmatics and Rithmatists. His status makes him relatable—we have all been ostracized at some point during our lives.
Another character who proves to be both relatable and likable is Professor Fitch. He is a kindly old man who appreciates sleep. He is also a talented Rithmatist and Rithmatics professor. Despite his skill, Fitch is riddled with anxiety and self-doubt. He breaks under pressure, struggling during duels and combat. His relatability stems largely from his self-debt, which everyone contends with at some point during their lives. Melody Muns is another interesting character. She’s a free-spirited student of Rithmatics who is far more interested in relaxing and sketching than becoming a Rithmatist. She also struggles with the feeling that she lives in her older siblings’ shadow—they’re all talented Rithmatic students; she struggles to draw basic lines. Finally, I appreciated the fact that The Rithmatist was a social commentary, which subtly argued that racism, classism and segregation are ridiculous. At Armedius, there is “separation between Rithmatists and others,” (Sanderson 80). As the novel progresses, Sanderson reveals that this separation has a negative effect on the student body—the students cannot protect one another from outside threats when they remain divided. Furthermore, the separation creates unnecessary tension between the groups and instills a sense that the Rithmatists outrank the non-Rithmatists in the student body’s minds. This mindset is false and Sanderson demonstrates that the students cannot solve their current problems without each other’s help.
The only thing that I did not like about Sanderson’s novel was Professor Nalizar. I despised him because he is an arrogant and obnoxious bully. He also supports the segregation of Rithmatic and non-Rithmatic students, which puts a sour taste in my mouth. However, Nalizar’s unpleasant nature was unable to color my view of Sanderson’s novel. The Rithmatist was absolutely amazing and I highly suggest that you take the time to read it.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Glossary:
Rithmatics: A magical discipline based off the Rithmatist’s ability to draw with chalk, investing their drawings with life.
Rithmatist: An individual who practices a form of magic involving chalk.
Nebrask: An isle in the center of the United Isles; contains the Tower.
The Tower: Located at the heart of the United Isles in Nebrask. Wild chalklings emanate from the tower, forcing Rithmatists to contain them so that the isles will not be overrun.
Chalklings: Animate two-dimensional drawings made out of chalk. They have the ability to attack and kill humans. Wild chalklings are those that escape from the Tower in Nebrask; they are out-of-control and must be destroyed by trained Rithmatists.

The College Years - Sophomore Year (Chapter 21) - Stiles Stilinski
Author: @were-cheetah-stiles
Title: “The Roadtrip, Part I”
Characters: Stiles Stilinski & Reader/OFC
Warnings: Fluff, cursing.
Y/f/i = your first initial :)
Summary: Almost a month has passed by since school finished and everyone went home for the summer. Stiles, Scott, and the rest of the gang helped take care of the wendigo problem that Derek, Liam, Hayden, Mr. Argent and Sheriff Stilinski and Deputy Parrish combined couldn't get under control in Beacon Hills. Scott had been spending most of his time with Allison, helping her get her GED so that she could join them at school in the Fall. Stiles, bored and agitated, had been spending his days interning at the Sheriff's Department, while Y/N was spending her days on the other side of the country interning for her local congresswoman. All seemed quiet for a few short weeks, until something began brewing in Beacon Hills.
Chapter Twenty //-// Chapter Twenty-One - Chapter Twenty-Two
Tumblr media
"You know, young witch, the only reason why we helped you initially is because Gerard was the sacrifice. He came after my family many, many years ago, and we have been waiting to get our revenge ever since." You walked beside the tall but eerie coven witch who had just brought Allison Argent back to life, in silence. Sylvie Ducette continued speaking regardless of a response. "But what I'm going to tell you next, I tell you because I like you... there is a darkness in you.. for a New England witch. I think that you are more powerful than you know, and I have a feeling that we will be seeing each other again in the future."
"Is this about my powers?" You asked, confused.
"Non, vous devez regarder vos etudes." Sylvie said, as the two of you paused at the entrance to the crypt where the ritual had just taken place.
You translated in your head, and then repeated what you thought she said out loud. "Look to my studies?" You questioned.
"Look to your studies, y/n y/m/n, they hold the answers that you will seek..... for something is coming your way."
"What do you mean? The vampires?" You asked, the confusion apparent in your voice.
"Mon cheri, non. You know how to take care of them already." Sylvie calmly replied.
"Then what's coming?" You whispered.
Sylvie smiled. She was done with being helpful. She felt like she had given the girl enough. "Á bientôt."
It was 2am on a Saturday in late June and you were stuck out in the Hamptons at your Dad’s house for the weekend. You were up in your loft bedroom half-watching Riverdale and half-reading about the healthcare bill that the Republican backed Congress was trying to push through the Senate. You were trying to focus on what you were reading, as you wanted to impress your boss, the Democratic Congresswoman from your district in Queens, with your knowledge of the latest news on Monday. But all you could really focus on was why Stiles hadn't been answering his phone since yesterday.
You saw your phone light up, a picture of the Pack posing all huddled together and smiling, with you standing next to Stiles, was blocked by a text message. "Can you let me in?"
"What?" You said quietly to yourself. You propped yourself up in bed and peeked between your curtains, just in time to see a taxi pulling away from your house and a hooded figure walking towards your stairs.
You ran down the stairs that led straight to the front door, and opened it. On the other side of the screen door was Stiles, wearing a hoodie and carrying a duffel bag, a backpack and his pillow. "Hi." He said quietly. You opened the screen door and threw your arms around his neck, pulling yourself up to his face to kiss him.
"Come in, come in... What are you doing here?" You whispered, as you pulled his pillow off the ground and walked back inside.
He watched as you quietly closed and locked the front door behind him. He dropped his bag to the ground, which made a loud thud against the hardwood floors, only drowned out by the sounds coming through the open windows of the waves crashing on the sand in front of your house. He pushed you up against the door and began kissing you. He pressed his body up against yours, bending at the knees, to kiss at your neck. You ran your fingers in his hair and softly moaned. His hands quickly roamed your body, grabbing at you frantically, as he pressed his lips against yours, sliding his tongue in your mouth and letting it explore yours. The two of you were interrupted by the sound of a jangling collar and the pitter-patter of claws against wood.
"So this is Laney?" Stiles asked, wiping his mouth and glancing down, as the medium sized gray dog bared her teeth at the intruder.
"Yea... maybe we should go to my room... Laney, go back to bed." You shooed the dog off and began climbing the stairs back up to your room.
"Stiles, what's going on, why are you here?" You asked in a more normal tone, as you shut your bedroom door.
Stiles set his bags down on the floor and sat on the edge of your bed. "I came to get you.” He said quietly.
"What do you mean? What's going on?" You asked, as you sat down next to him, one foot tucked under your butt.
"So much. Ugh.." Stiles sighed, and laid back on the bed. He then turned onto his side, his legs still hanging off the bed, and moved his head next to your leg. He wrapped his hands around your thigh and rested his forehead against you.
"Stiles, you're freaking me out now. You literally flew across the country without warning me... What's wrong?" You asked, as you laid down behind him, pressing your cheek against his back, your bodies making a sort of yin-yang symbol.
"For one, I basically became an insomniac after you left. I sleep probably three to four hours a night, every night, if that. So I came to get a good night sleep for starters." Stiles began explaining his sudden appearance.
You sat up and stared down at him. "Stiles..." You whispered his name, upset at how he wasn’t taking care of himself.
"I also haven't seen much of Scott..”
“Why haven’t you seen much of Scott?”
“Well, none of us have really.”
“Yea, but why haven’t you? You’re his best friend, Sti.”
Stiles pressed his forehead between the bed and your leg and mumbled.
“You know I didn’t hear that.” You narrowed your eyes at him even though he couldn’t see you doing it.
“I’ve been avoiding him..”
“What the fuck.. why have you been avoiding him?” Your voice was stern, as you moved your leg and looked down at him.
Stiles stared up at you and contorted his mouth. “I don’t want to see Allison... I don’t think Scott wants me to see her either.”
“I don’t understand...”
Stiles sighed. “The last thing that Allison remembers of me is my being possessed by the Nogitsune... me being evil.. me stabbing Scott and kidnapping Lydia and basically causing complete and total chaos in Beacon Hills... and most importantly, me changing the Oni to my side, and.... Y/n... I’m the reason she died.”
Your heart broke over the immense guilt that Stiles had been carrying all this time. Enough guilt to send him across the country to find comfort in someone who didn’t know him when he was void and didn’t know what he was capable of. You pursed your lips and brushed your fingers through his hair. He closed his eyes and leaned into your affectionate touch. “Sti.. you have to go talk to Scott. He loves you. He has Allison back... even if he was ever mad at you, which he definitely never was, because the important distinction is that the Nogitsune did all of those things, not you... and even if he was ever mad, why would he still be?”
Stiles shrugged. “He's always at the Argent's with Allison, which is fine and I get it, but I don’t know when I’m supposed to be able to talk to him, and the Pack is all off doing their own thing and not paying attention but something is happening in Beacon Hills, Y/n."
"What do you mean 'something is happening'?" You asked, concerned, a sudden feeling of dread creeping into your throat.
"I think the something in the 'for something is coming your way' that Sylvie told you about, that we've been waiting for... I think it's come to Beacon Hills." Stiles said, as he sat up right in order to look at you.
"Why do you think that?"
Stiles rubbed his face, he was tired, and a full day of travel wasn't helping him fight his fatigue. He sighed. "So about two weeks ago, this old lady came home from dinner with her grandkids, and it was dark, and someone found her body the next day on her doorstep. Two more have been found like that since, and we didn't know what it was that killed her and Scott has been so non-existent, so we were leaving it to the Sheriff's Department. Then five nights ago, a fourth person was attacked, but didn't die. They were able to describe what attacked them, and they said it was like this creature that manifested from the shadows and had these grim reaper-like hand things and nails and fangs...."
"Well that kind of sounds like a vampire, no?" You asked.
"That's what Derek and I thought, so we started patrolling at night again. I was worried that the stragglers from Ilyse’s pack came looking for us from Berkeley, but my dad responded to a b and e that some neighbor had called in, and when he got there... he got attacked." Stiles' eyes looked redder than they had moments before. He wiped a tear away that had escaped his eye. His exhaustion and his ability to finally confide in you was making him emotional.
"What?" You whispered, your heart suddenly thumping in your chest. "Stiles, is he okay? Why didn't you call me?" You took his face in your hands and teared up at the sight of him so distraught.
"Yea, yea, he's fine. I wouldn't have left if he wasn't." Stiles reached up and pulled your hands off of his face. He cupped them in his hands and kissed your balled up fingers. He placed them in his lap, as he kicked off his shoes and sat cross-legged across from you. "He got cut up pretty badly, and he was in the hospital for a few days, but he's home now. He said that he shot off a mag of bullets into the attacker's torso, and they all ended up in the wall."
"But your Dad is a great shot..." You commented, confused.
"I know, and he was up against the guy. He said that they just went right through, like he was aiming for the wall and there was nothing in between. I guess he kind of fell down the front steps of the house at that point, and it just disappeared after that."
"That's not a vampire..." You corrected your earlier guess. You paused, thinking back on all of the new developments. "If he was in the hospital for days, and he’s already out... Why didn't you tell me what was happening? I talk to you on the phone every night."
Stiles looked down at your hands in his. He had such a serious look on his face. "I thought that I could handle it at first. Everyone had stuff going on this summer and I just didn't want to burden anyone. Scott has all of this stuff with Allison, Malia has been getting ready for her trip to France, Cora and Isaac have been having some trouble, Liam and Hayden broke up, you were practicing your magic and had your internship.. I thought that I could handle it." Stiles had regret in his voice.
"I will literally never be too busy to help you, and when something happens like your Dad getting attacked and going to the hospital, you need to tell me."
Stiles nodded. "I'm sorry... I haven't been thinking straight."
You stood up, and grabbed Stiles' shoes from the floor. You brought them over to his suitcase and backpack, and picked his pillow off of the carpet. You brought it over to your bed and placed it next to Stiles. You leaned over and unzipped his hoodie and helped him take it off. He smiled sleepily up at your face. He was grateful for your kindness and your willingness to not be angry with how he had handled all of this.
He stood and began to undress, leaving his clothes in a ball on the floor at the foot of your bed, standing in front of you in only his boxers. You walked up to him, only wearing a long baseball tee of his that he had given you for the summer and your underwear.
"It'll take me a day to get all my stuff packed back up and to say bye to my mom and quit my internship, but we can leave the day after." You said, as you pressed your hands against his bare chest.
"Y/f/i, I'm sorry you have to drop everything... I'm just sorry."
"Don’t be." You reached your hand up to cup his cheek. You stared into his big brown eyes, sad and bloodshot. "Let's go to sleep."
Stiles nodded, his lip quivering slightly, and climbed onto the bed. He thought that he could cry because of how relieved he was right then. It didn’t matter that it was only 11pm for his body clock, he was exhausted.
He replaced one of your pillows with his, and watched you shut off all of the lights and lock the door. You climbed into bed and laid on your stomach. You gripped your pillow underneath your head, with both of your arms underneath it. You rested your right foot against your left knee and shut your eyes.
Stiles let out a sigh of utter relief. He placed his head next to yours on your pillow, his left arm reaching under it to find your hand, his right arm draping over your body. He placed himself in the same pose to sleep in, just up against your body, slightly on top of you. He was drained.
"You came to get me." You whispered, barely audible.
"The Pack and I needed you... I really needed you." Stiles whispered back, his breath moving the baby hairs on the back of your neck.
"You literally flew across the country to get me." You reiterated.
"I came to get you." Stiles repeated, kissing the back of your head.
Your left hand found his left hand under the pillow the two of you shared, and you squeezed it. "I love you, Stiles."
"I love you." He groggily whispered, as he finally fell asleep.
"Okay, well that's that... She took the ‘sudden sickness’ of my grandmother very well." You said sarcastically, hanging up the phone with the Congresswoman who you had just lied to in order to quit your internship, but not burn a bridge with a potential future employer.
"I'm sorry you had to quit the Congresswoman's office, I know that was a big deal. But I'm pretty sure my dad got you a replacement internship with the mayor of Beacon Hills so, I know it's not the same but it should be...informative?" Stiles bit his thumbnail. He was feeling guilty for dragging you away from your summer plans.
"All I was doing was getting her coffee and stuffing envelopes, I'm sure that the mayor's office will be just fine, maybe even a step up in terms of work I get to do." You smiled, trying to reassure him, while sitting on your bed folding your clothes to place back in your suitcase.
"And my dad said that you could stay in the guest room..."
"No." You said, watching the surprise take over his face.
"What do you mean 'no'?" Stiles asked.
"I don't want to mooch off your Dad even more than the internship. I know Malia and Lydia used to sleep over all the time, and he was fine with it, but I don't know, he doesn't know me the same way that he knew them. I just want him to get to know me for me, before he thinks I'm just always up in your room or something. I don't know. Just no. Can I stay at Scott's? He has an extra room, right?"
"Not since Allison came back. Isaac moved back in with Scott, you could move in with Lydia."
You cocked your head to the side and pursed your lips, staring at Stiles like you couldn't believe he had just suggested that. "I could just rent a room from Derek in his building, I mean, that's where Cora, Zach and Ethan live, right?"
"I'm not going to pull you away from here, just to bring you to Beacon Hills and make you pay for a place to stay, Y/n." You shrugged; you could afford it. "What about Allison's? You could stay in Isaac's old room. I know you don't really know her but you've spent some time with her Dad and they kind of owe you big time..." Stiles reminded you.
You continued folding while thinking about it. "Okay, if they’re willing do it, I’ll do that. Otherwise, you're calling Derek and asking him for a place for me." Stiles stepped out of the room to call Chris Argent.
He came back in a few minutes later. "Okay, you're at the Argent's... which is going to be very difficult to sneak into to sleep with you..."
“Why?” You asked.
“Beside it being a penthouse apartment in a decently tall hotel, Argent has been known to electrify his windows...” Stiles explained, narrowing his eyes in fear.
You smiled and shook your head. "We'll work it out."
The two of you were somewhere in eastern Ohio when Stiles ditched your American Government textbook and notebook into the backseat of your car. You turned down the stereo and looked at your boyfriend.
"Do you finally agree that whatever is terrorizing Beacon Hills is probably not in the Constitution?" You asked, sarcastically.
"Yes, we're moving on to your Western Civ. books." Stiles said as he dug out your notebook from your backpack that was set down by his feet.
"Isn't Scott supposed to be looking through the Western Civ. stuff?" You asked.
"He's been going through the textbook, but if you think that Scott took more thorough notes than you, you're crazy." Stiles replied, as he watched you fidget in your seat. "Do you need to switch?"
"Yea, I think so and we need gas." You said, as you pulled off onto an exit ramp. "We need to get to Chicago tonight so that we can be at the Oriental Museum when it opens, so that we can then get back on the road by the afternoon."
"What do you think we'll find at the Oriental Museum?" Stiles asked, as he leaned against the car and watched you pump gas, while gnawing on a Twizzler that he got from the bag of junk food in the car.
"Answers, I hope."

and tord wants revenge on edd matt and tom so tord kidnaps tom by sending out pat and paul to retrieve him
before this tom was depressed about everything that had happened after the end and lately he had been getting these nightmares of a void like place where a monster like child would attack him he would wake up with bruises and bite marks from his dreams meanwhile edd and matt are trying there best to comfort tom and try to find out what's wrong with him, but before they were about to figure things out tom was kidnaped
when tom was trapped at the base he was tortured and beaten by tord treated like a dog with no brains what so ever, but then when tords allies had come to discuss war plans tom escaped and met them tord not wanting to seem pathetic made tom his assistant
so for a few years tom was tord assistant but he allways tried to escape no matter what tord did he would try to escape!also during this time tom got to meet the child in his dreams Avery
it seemed that he had some sort of relation to this child but didn't know what it was tom was just super protective of her then he started seeing gory flash backs with Avery of her being tortured experimented on and eventually a short glimpse of her death
so during this time edd and matt were looking for tom but couldn't find him edd was growing cold and angry from this the police had done nothing to try and find tom matt on the other hand tried to keep things as positive as he could but it seemed to fail
tord was taking over countries and governments his plans for taking over were finally working but there was still the issue with tom so he came up with a plan and with the help of the head scientist there he made the B-pill or Birthing pill that would allow anyone to conceive a child what tord's plan was to keep tom at the base with there child if tom tired to leave he would torture or even kill the child
so one night tord went and gave tom the pill but they made a deal that the child was to never be harmed and she must never know what's going on at the base and what's going on between them tord agreed and tord added another part to agreeing to taking the pill that he knew tom wouldn't say no to
he could call edd
tom agreed and soon when the pill finnaly kicked in and tom had fully formed female genitalia tom had gotten pregnant
during toms pregnancy the red army had gotten bigger than ever news had gotten everywhere about this new threat and wars were started and one day while watching TV edd and matt saw tords face again they knew tord had something to do with tom
when tom was pregnant he noticed that the child had gotten older and was ageing she was now in a wheelchair and had long white hair it was revealed in the end that she was his daughter but when he woke up from passing out during labor he forgot everything all he could remember was a gut feeling and her name an so he named his child avery
averys childhood was somewhat nice her parents acted like they cared and she had all the love in the world from her fathers but she wanted to leave the base she wasn't allowed outside of her home she was kept away from all outside influence she would spend her days playing piano or guitar or studding but she realized something wasn't quiet right she would hear her parents argue a lot when she was behind closed doors this scared her
and soon one day her doll tomme bear's leg had fallen off she went to look for a needle and thread but couldn't find it anywhere so she went to her father's office looking through his desk when she found a picture of her father's and two other men she was confused but when she looked behind her she saw her father tord he looked furious and he yelled at her asking where she got that picture avery tried to explain but her father had struck her she crashed into a wall and had cuts on her head from a glass window this was the first time her father had ever shown any sort of violence towards avery
out of fear she fled this would only be the beginning of what's to come
things weren't looking so good for the red army the Americas were kicking there ass and they were losing running out of men supplies and ammo the allies had to do something and one of them suggested using Avery as a weapon at this time the allies knew about tom and he's relations with tord and seeing as how he was technically a monster himself if tor injected the same serum into avery she would turn into one too tord disagreed at first but with not wanting to lose tom for revenge purposes he agreed to turning avery into a weapon
tom over hearing this news had dashed to retrieve avery and get her out of the base it almost worked until he was shocked you see tord had tom wear a shock collar to keep him in check an this shock would petrify tom leaving him in a twitching mess it also however shocks anyone who comes in contact with tom so avery is taken away and tom is locked in a cell avery confused and scared was crying out for help she wanted her father (tom) and then tord had injected her with the serum just as tom had broken free from the cell and burst into the lab she skin was melting off of her bones gurgled screams for mercy echoed the room as her body had become disfigured and warped until she turned into a monster she had lost one of her eyes  during the transformation she had a dragon like appearance she had three eyes and large claws the monster had panicked and started to attack tord but she was restrained and was locked up until she had returned to her normal form tom was sent to a cell where he would stay there for years in order to keep him from killing everyone at the base
when avery woke she was in a cell he body was covered in black marks and blood when she looked around she was met with other abominations these were children like her that also had been turned into weapons but they were failures they would be known as the corrupted children there were 4 in total and these children soon turned out to be averys only friends June, a monster with four arms and long black hear was like a mother to her caring and protective she had the power of ice she was found by the head scientist when she was an orphan and she had been turned into a monster next was Angela who was a very strange little girl she had the body of a spider she was saved by the head scientist when her family was under attack when it was discovered they had slaved (her family was rich) then there was rin an angry boy whos limbs were sepreated from his body an floated around him he was in a human trafficking situation and was sold to the head scientist and finally Eden he was the oldest and surprisingly the calmest he wore a mask covering his face where eyes had littered his mouth and body he was the head scientist's son he had physic abilities avery had met people just like her and soon made bonds with them and made a promise "We will escape this hell together!" but it never happened
during this avery had been trained by her father and was fighting in the war she had turned the tide and had helped take over America during this she had gotten older and had despised her father
a rebellion had started to fight back against the red army this was led by edd he wanted to finish off tord and get tom back and during a battle edd met avery on the battle field she had knocked him out and sent him to the base edd had finally found tord but didn't know where tom was tord had called tom in he was thin and weak covered in chains and restraints
tord had decided to execute edd tom tried to plea for edds life but all pleas went ignored and tord had edd thrown into a cell this is when Avery confronts edd showing him the picture she had found in tords desk edd confused by who this child is and what she was doing here it was revealed she was the daughter of tom and tord and the proof was all there she looked a lot like tom she even had one eye edd was shocked by this and he explained his relation ship with tom and how he was trying to get tom back so avery wanted to help edd and her friends so she made a deal with edd if he helped her escape she would help him get tom an leave he agreed and they went to get tom but they first had to get the corrupted children she helped them leave the cell as well as kill the head scientist
but this souned an alarm and it was too late to get tom they would have to come back again later for him but sadly averys friends had all died while trying to escape she was the only one from the corrupted children to escape alive she had broken her promise to them but she made a new promise to them she wont let them become memories she will live for them and kill tord but when edd and avery had escaped tord had shot avery with a harpoon gun and she had passed out
when she woke she was in the rebellion's base she had forgotten about her friends deaths for a moment when she remembered she snapped screams of terror and panic filled the base laughter of madness filled Avery's voice but after being calmed down by edd and matt she had time to think about what to do next
edd had made a deal with avery that she would join the rebellion and help stop the red army and get back tom avery reluctantly agreed all she wanted to do was avenge her friends and get her father
and so time went on and avery had joined the rebellion she had bonded with the people there an soon her relationship with edd had turned into a father daughter type relation ship now thiss took years edd at the beginning blamed avery for tom's misery but soon he learned that wasn't the case and became attatched to avery
it had been 17 years and avery was a young adult she had been fighting for years and unfourtunitly was becoming ill her hair had become white as snow she couldn't walk any more it was reviled that due to the serum she was slowly dying a cure was under way but until it was made avery couldn't fight
theres a lot more and ill write more later but this is most of whats going on

Thess vs Narrative Set-Up
So I don’t even play TOR anymore - hell, I didn’t even play Iokath - and yet I have feelings about the whole ‘traitor on Iokath’ thing. I keep up sometimes. Kind of hard not to, given my lifetime MMO progression, my Tumblr dash and my Enjin wall. So before I go try to grind levels and ventures in the game that, while occasionally utterly fucking incomprehensible, at least doesn’t pull this shit on me (like, the last traitors we had in FFXIV were ‘possessed by someone’ or ‘pretty obviously shifty with comprehensible ulterior motive’ and I can work with that)...
Spoilers under cut. Despite the fact that I think everyone on my Tumblr who cares, knows.
Theron Shan. What the FUCK.
Look, for Dark Siders it makes sense. But for Light Siders? All of his talking about being a benevolent dictator ... the last time I checked, we didn’t actually get the tiniest bit of say in the day-to-day running of anything. If ‘the Alliance was rotting from within’, why did we not ICly get the option to stop it? This is the game blaming the player for things it fucking well failed to include, and I am not. Fucking. Having it.
And this, “I had hoped for peace but war just continued so I’ll get you out of the way and it’ll all stop” bullshit? Point one: THEY STARTED IT. We keep fighting because people. Keep. ATTACKING US. And if we’re Light Side, they’re not doing it because they hate our oppressive regime; they’re doing it because we have the biggest guns and they want to take those guns away from us so that we don’t have an advantage in the wars they want to start. If the Eternal Fleet goes bye-bye, all that’s going to happen is that Republic and Empire are going to regroup to go at each other again, and pirates are going to end up all over the fucking place to steal from rebuilding efforts and set up their own little versions of Hutt space until someone bigger comes and clears them out. So ... yet more war.
Summary: We’re being blamed by a NPC who has up until this point been a reasonable person, and who is also ignoring the long-term picture for the most reactionary short-term view imaginable, for things we weren’t allowed to even know about in game, much less try to fix by any means but those Uprising things. This ... makes no sense. This is lazy. And this is, to me, further proof that they are predominantly writing this for a Dark Side character. Honestly, I’ve always had a feeling that this was a Sith Warrior plot with Jedi Knight as a secondary. Now they’ve apparently stopped pretending that the Republic actually matters all that much.
And don’t even get me started on, “You know I love you ... but this is bigger than us”. You are not allowed to say that when it’s bookended by “Mwahahaha” dialogue, okay? If you love someone, you try to talk them out of whatever it is you think they’re doing wrong. If you’re afraid they’ll talk you out of it, maybe your idea isn’t as good as you think it is, or you need to stand by your convictions. Do not kill people because you are apparently easily led.
The only thing - the absolute ONLY THING - I can think of that makes Theron Shan doing this shit make any sense at all beyond triple-agent (which would be cheap as fuck retcon handwavey bullshit for which I have no respect) or brainwashing (ditto) is that he’s wrecked over what he did on Ziost. Because let’s face it - he handled Ziost badly. Shit was going down and what did he do? Sent a secret Jedi strike force. Who then proceeded to get possessed and killed or ... well, frankly eaten along with the rest of the planet. Although you’d think that that particular brand of bullshit would have reminded him that maybe that’s what happens when you pull stupid reactionary shit without telling anyone.
Also, can we talk about the “I’ve been planning this since you killed Valkorion” line? Theron tells a Light Side Commander that he’d been hoping they’d make a difference but they didn’t so he’s killing them now. How the hell much chance did any Commander have to change anything immediately after killing Valkorion? I imagine, given the whole ‘literally ripped a Force entity out of their head’ thing, they spent at least three days in medbay on significant painkillers with the migraine from hell - particularly if they were a Force-user, since Valkorion screamed every Force-user in the galaxy into at least a pretty major headache when he kicked it. Bioware, seriously, at least give us a reasonable turning point, some in-story impetus for this shit, before you have characters turn on us.
So, summary: This is bullshit. Taken from a completely analytical perspective, this is bullshit and Bioware pulling the “shock twist to keep people interested” gambit. In terms of “people we trusted pulling really ridiculous shit”, I’m going to have to break it down a little because frankly that is EVERY Bioware game. But ... okay, the ones that went more or less completely barmy and did something that had really painful consequences. Saren made sense, was well set up and beautifully written, and made one of the most sympathetic antagonists I’ve ever seen. Loghain had some issues, but those issues were well-documented, well-demonstrated and while I don’t agree with what he did afterwards, I see the reasoning behind abandoning Cailan at Ostagar. Zevran ... well, that depends on your choices. (I don’t count Morrigan; what she was asking for was not at any point particularly painful, though that only comes out like two games later.) Anders? You could see the logical progression from “I have made this place a sanctum of healing and salvation; why do you threaten it?” to “There can be no peace”. Isabela ... is Isabela. We know this. Blackwall / Reinier - we all saw that shit coming when he kept stumbling over “I am pretending to be a Warden ‘cos I don’t know shit about Wardens” so we can hardly complain about that. Iron Bull ... well, come on, if you pick that choice, he’s Ben-Hassrath and you more or less ordered him to put the Qun ahead of friendship; when the Qun wants you dead, and you’re staring at the axe of a remorseful Bull, you brought that shit on yourself. Solas ... okay, not so entirely sure why he’s so bent on this particular course of action, but none of this beggars belief. And let’s not even start me talking about the glorious Face Heel Turn that was ‘Master Li’ in Jade Empire. Each and every one of these was well-foreshadowed and set up on a foundation of possibility that you look back on and go, “Oh, yeah, I can see that...” This, though? This, as far as I can see, came out of fucking nowhere. And the fact that they had to come up with bullshit non-answers for a Commander’s entirely reasonable questions just proves they didn’t set up a damn thing to act as foundation and support structure for this asinine decision.
The worst part is they fucking planned this. Apparently if you killed Arcann, you get a lot of dialogue from Valkorion about one of your people being a traitor. A lot of people are saying that they had a different traitor in mind and that information leaked so they decided to change it last minute ... but this belies that. Besides, I don’t imagine we’re going to see changes to their stupid idea of who the traitor is now that this has leaked, since the spoilers are coming out of datamining. Someone actually sat down and said, “We’re going to make Theron Shan the traitor! Won’t that be shocking?” and surprisingly, no one said, “What’ll be shocking is if our player base doesn’t lynch us for this”.
Bioware, you are phoning it in. This is why I have not bought Andromeda. I know it’s different teams (probably, unless the rumours are true about them having pulled all the good writers off TOR to patch Andromeda together) but I do not trust you to give me what I want for my money anymore. You are constantly leaning on your “Now With CLASSIC BIOWARE STORYTELLING” reputation, so ... why not try actually doing some? Resting on your laurels just ends up with crushed laurels under your lazy arse.
