now...if we can rem(ember) what i wrote at the very ( rock ) bottom of an origin story ask that i answered like a bajillion years ago, i tried to make an Crucial distinction abt the identity of ex-cd guitarist ( scott malkinson ), who during side a of rm!part three ( aka the part of the flashbacks that feature our favorite messy band boys pre-cd, being broke boys and doing drunk degen things together ), we learned was god's sweet angel, a bespeckled, glasses-wearing, awkward nerd boy king. as well as the only og non-musician of the c.d. boys who stan, ofc, taught how to play guitar, so he could b in their silly band.

which BLEW UP one day after they were scouted by...Tenorman Records...v interesting name, yeah? ;) and were hot boy franksteined into the og lineup of crimson dawn...where sweet scott became...

which i blame COMPLETELY on the boys having to be made over and made into whatever little overblown rockstar caricatures management and specifically their Manager wanted them in.

i would say kenny was the least doctored or altered by management because they already had that bde, punk rock star quality about them, tbh, the only thing the label really did was put the skeleton mask muzzle on ken and shove our fave secretly immortal bassist to alll the way to the back, bc while they def had the innate charisma and celebrity influence to carry cd, kenny was unpredictable and a liability, stan also had The Voice & was a lot easier to manipulate. </3

after them, jimmy was probably the second least altered by tenorman records because jimbabwe was mostly just meant to fill a disability quota with the cerebral palsy and everything, he's mainly in the back with his hard asf emo-boy drum kit, but he's more Prop than person.

okay, oddly enough, rae is actually NOT the most made over member in cd because he was already our emo boy halloween king and Super stoked to be a rock star. like the person taking care of ravenstan ( and kenny sometimes ) was seriously worried about even sending the boys off to LA to Pursue Their Passion bc, lbr, it was...pretty dangerous given ~stan's little situation~ ( aka literally faking his identity and bEING IN HIDING AFTER COMITTING ARSON AND ACCIDENTALLY MURDERING SHELLEY ) plus...it's just hard to make it big in some unforgiving city as musicians. Period.

but they...did it!

but at what cost? bc...

i will say however, that stan was definitely...coerced into doing The Raven Thing because it directly conflicts with his gentler, more soft-spoken personality, my man has literally no rhythm...like, at all...and stan actually does get pretty bad stage fright, so being the guy up front was pretty nerve wracking just bc he's not really built like that.

but you know!!! he was excited!!! being a rock star, being famous and the glitz, the glamor and grandeur of everything!!! it's all very shiny. but all that glitters is not gold my friends...and heavy ( metal ) is the head that wears the the light up kraken kitty gamer headset, lmao.

moving on to lovely...lovely scotty, who, sigh, definitely had the most Drastic and seemingly fantastic transformation. because wearing gpa glasses, thrift store sweaters, old navy jeans and reciting multi-syllable medical terminology doesn't exactly scream Sexy.

quite frankly, it practically whispers, which is great when you're in the Library...but that doesn't really rock and roll with the punk rock image cd was supposed to curate so...they made scott...

into Thot.

appearance wise, they retired the grandpa glasses and gave scott contacts, they styled his hair and kept it short ( rip the middle part ), changed his WHOLE wardrobe ( but instead of them being like raven you can't keep wearing cringey, sriracha stained anime tee-shirts, the big baggy pants and being a nasty, disgusting, boy. you, have to be HOT, lmao, they told scott something similar but it was more along the lines of scott, you can't look like a librarian, you have to look like you shred electric guitar in the biggest punk rock band in the world ) so sweaters were sleeveless shirts, his lowly sensible slacks became designer, they put ice on his wrists and made him

which would be less important if he were in the back like ken and jimjam, but as the lead guitarist of cd, he had to be in the front next to Raven, which meant he had to be almost as cool as raven...

almost.

because ravenstan was the front man of crimson dawn...

and scott was just the guy to his right.

which is where everything went wrong.

because raven was a personality that, like the little pants, came on when they curtain came up, but immediately came off/were replaced with a pair of giant hole-y sweatpants once he was backstage and nursing himself back to health w/ several strong shots of whiskey.

now, scott too was asked to put on a show, play up his hotshot, rockstar persona for the cameras...but long after the show was over...that mask never came off. stan rushed off stage and ripped that fishnet shirt off his body like it was made of barbed wire, but conversely, scott dreaded going from hero to zero...so he just didn't.

fame & fortune devoured our dear boy and just like that...

scott became thot.

permanently.

but before i get into this next part, i just want to say that i am a scott apologist; i understand why he did the things he did and was the way he was. again, being a celebrity is to be changed. and damaged. the weight of the world is ten times as heavy as a hundred of his pre-med textbooks. which he tossed in the TRASH, btw!!!

he stopped perusing his dream to become a nightmare...smh. but i digress, scott spent his life shoved into lockers, made fun of, kept small. people were calling him names and now they were calling his name. nay, thousands upon thousands Screaming his name!!! they loved him, they worshipped him. and to someone who had never once been popular before. the feeling was as amazing...

as it was addictive.

because, again, their sweet scott was absorbed by thot...

and Thot Malkinson was a Diva. a messy manwhoring menace. a punk rock primadonna. he ordered all the makeup people around, fought for the spotlight, acted a fool & started drama Everywhere. he was obsessed with his image, and i mean Obsessed. he actually...sigh.

Went Back Into The Closet And Pretended To Be STRAIGHT to avoid backlash. he dated tons of girls, lots of celebrities, mostly to spite jimmy which was...a mess. ( i will talk about them in another post this post is so fucking long ) but he was generally being a massive d-bag with an even massiver ( ? ) ego.

tldr; the boys were getting Fed Up.

because more than just blowing them off to do photoshoots and interviews without them/talk heeellla smack, he was acting like he was better than them. he made a lot of jokes about leaving the band which...weren't funny. and being at rae's right side was starting to rlly fuck w/ scott and made him feel inferior. bc he wanted to be the star.

he wanted to be the front man.

& he thought that stan was being super ungrateful for not taking his role as the face of the band seriously wHEN HE NEVER WANTED TO BE THE FACE OF THE BAND!!! HE WAS FORCED TO DO IT!!! AAAA!

but anyways, scott was super jealous of stan's success and started to seriously resent him. he was making these really snide comments under his breath, tripping stan on stage with the amp cords n shit, playing Super Loud over his voice. like??? HELLO??? he literally pierced his nose Days after stan pierced his??? the petty olympics!

and it's even worse if you consider that stan and scott were TIGHT once upon a time. like stan was the person who'd initially showed scott the most kindness ( even more so them jimmy i think, who was put off by scott’s uptightness ) bc rae’s a weird awkward king who, ok, does fit in bc he's pretty but then just Sticks Out back out bc he is literally the world's biggest boyfail bi disaster who openly rebels against tradition.

so he gets the Struggle! he really does...as a result, stan took scott under his wing & spent a lot of time with him because ravenstan taught scott how to play guitar and was probably the most patient of the boys. kenny's very abrasive, jimmy fucks around too much, but stan is just very sweet & nuturing, he won't get mad at you. my bb.

stan AND scott were actually my awkward, soft boy babies before the fuckboyification of scott into thot, they also had a really special bond because scott was the only one of the other og three crimson boys...

who could speak spanish. <3

that was very nostalgic and comforting to stan because after the fire...speaking spanish kind of died with shelley, so stan had no one he could regularly correspond with in spanish...

( ok, obviously, when stan was working with his waitering jobs pre!cd he had some homies/coworkers he could speak spanish to, but, tbh, it wasn't super frequent and was more for utility helpful bilingual boy communication purposes -- in rm!flashbacks!p3 there is a very important waiter adjacent job stan worked that i was gonna talk abt in a diff chapter, but, what the hell? i love spoiler heaven. u can ask. )

...but he had scott...with whom he regularly Shot The Shit.

like, oh my gooooood, when i tell you stan and scott were being chismosos 25/8, smh, jimmy and kenny were ready to fight. this was cute, ofc, but the cutest part was that...scott had a crush on a boy.

who he needed to talk to someone about.

but kenny and scott were never really close. being immortal and basically an eldritch god means that he's definitely been around the block, met some very colorful characters and as a result, is a very good judge of it.

and scott, of course, is a good person.

stan actually calls scotty "the best of them" in rm8 and was well loved and treasured by all of the crimson boys -- but kenny had always gotten a...weird feeling about scott in the back of his mind. like something about him was off...like he might betray them.

but because of that personal dissonance scott wasn't super comfortable confideing in kenny, he couldn't very well talk to jimmy about his crush...ON JIMMY, so that left stan who was paitent and kind, whose ear, while intimidatingly pierced and decked out with pentagrams and things, was a very kind ear, indeed.

stan was very receptive and receptive of that sensitive information ( as a sensitive boy ) and regularly corresponded with scott about it in ~stannish- bc they couldn’t very well let the other guys hear it, right? so they’d chat away, giggling behind their hands, scott whispering scandalous goss in stan’s ear ft. the ravenstan signature santa puta madre de guadalupe & the corresponding no me digaaa sancho!

i also think stan called scott sancho por las risas.

the boys also used to call stan Stanteria because they put sublime on the bro haus playlist for when they’re kicking back on friday nights after scotts done with class/working in the OR and whenever it comes on, it’s freaking modelo time, aka time to crack a cold one with the boys, who clinking beers with their fingers covered in cheesy poof dust and fkn lime and chamoy cross faded af shouting i dON’T PRACTICE ~STANTERIA~; I AINT GOT NO CRYSTAL BAAALL!! WELL I HAD A MILLION DOLLARS BUT I’D!! I'D SPEND IT ALLL!”

pls note that they literally cannot play that song anymore bc it reminds them too much of scott :’( i am so sad...hope i die!!!

anyways, an important part of these discussions, or rather, discrushions is that stan…was never told the identity of the boy scott had a crush on. i’m laffing but they def did that thing you do in elem/middle school when you have a crush on someone and you give them a silly code name so no one knows who you’re talking abt ( i am not sure what the code name for jimmy was but i’m sure it has v shit takin school boy chismoso energies smh, but never said his name.

My weekly roundup CW 17

I try to write down my thoughts after watching stuff to create a little weekly ranking in relation to the previous week on my, most of the times, quiet sundays (and because I love lists!). These are just my personal opinions and preferences.

And yes, this may contain spoilers!

→ 1. The Eighth Sense (9+10/10 Final)

Phew. How should I sum up my feelings about it? Korea has a knack for good stories, for me, anyway. And this story is definitely one of my favorites and one of the best I've seen so far. And you can tell it's leaning more towards western television. You can notice the Skam notation and also a bit of the Young Royals setting. But what about the last episodes? I knew there was going to be a happy ending because I was spoilered thanks to MDL, since the movie has already aired in Korea. Nonetheless, for me the journey is the destination, I also like to spoil myself on purpose sometimes. Because while I knew it would end well, I didn't know what the journey would be like. And the way was so beautiful! JaeWon is slowly realizing that his life belongs to him and he won't be better off if he excludes JiHyun from it. He worries so much about not hurting others, about what he thinks is good for others, without looking at what the others might want. He hurts JiHyun much more by avoiding him and excluding him from his life, and he's starting to realize that. And yes, in the end they meet again and this reunion climaxes in such an unbelievably great kiss and a night where both of them can hardly sleep because they can't stop looking at each other and finally enjoying each other's closeness. And JaeWon is completely absorbed in the role of "it's now or never, you only live once and screw everyone else". He's with JiHyun and he doesn't give a shit who knows it all then. And the message of it all: they don't know if they'll make it and stay together, but that doesn't stop them from trying anyway, giving themselves a chance and believing in something positive. It's worth allowing some happiness and love in your life. I am thrilled by this series. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the "reconciliation" with EunJi and TaeHyung.

↑ 2. My Story (3/10)

I was so looking forward to the next episode. Not necessarily because of the good acting of the main couple or their chemistry, but because of Zeke and Fifth! I got a really bad second-couple-syndrome! They're just so cute together, even though I really didn't need the close-ups of their feet! But Fifth was jealous! Ahhhh! And makes no bones about finding men attractive. What's going on with the main couple? I don't know. They briefly didn't interest me after the kissing-after-puking moment…that wasn't romantic that was gross!

Yes, I might be lowkey obsessed with them...

☼ 3. Happy Merry Ending (1+2/8)

Korea is coming up big this year with plots that deal with social anxiety and depression. I'm curious to see how this will be implemented here. In the first episode, we definitely learned that SeungJun has trauma and is medicated in that regard. It seems to be an important, central theme. Especially as a wedding singer who only dares to perform wearing sunglasses because he's afraid of the looks of the audience. And in return, we have JaeHyun who can fit in well with groups and new environments. I love JaeHyun already! He's so obviously hit hard with SeungJun and I love it! He is so direct and wants to spend time with him. Oh love at first sight! Love it!

☼ 4. La Pluie (1/12)

La Pluie surprised me. I didn't think the story would pick me up like that in the first episode. Yes, the concept of going deaf when it rains and only being able to hear your soulmate's voice (even if he's not present but telepathic) takes some getting used to, but I honestly found it quite cute. And yes, love at first sight is also a little favorite of mine. So Tai goes deaf but can hear his soulmate's voice in his head when it rains. However, he has mostly refused to answer him so far because he doesn't believe in soulmates or love. After all, his parents, who were also supposed to be soulmates, divorced each other. That changed his view of love. But his first encounter with the person behind the voice in his head perhaps showed him, what he might miss, if he doesn't reach out already. And as a second couple, we have an enemies-to-lovers story! I am excited!

↓ 5. Our Dining Table (4/10)

Yutaka's brother is just an asshole. But he couldn't help it as a child/teenager, but the parents could have said something. It's so easy to say you're part of the family now and then just ignore when the son bullies the adopted son like that. I want to box him and the parents. And Minoru wants to know so much more about Yutaka. He's so on his way to totally falling in love with Yutaka and his sensitive nature. And he's so sweet and insecure about it. I'm happy if Yutaka can open up to him a little bit.

↓ 6. A Boss And A Babe (9/12)

Yeah, what can I say. Gun is an idiot if he really thinks Cher betrayed him like that. And then he doesn't talk to him right away but gives him the cold shoulder first. Uncool, boss! And the friends realize that Cher was apparently a bit more serious with the boss after all. Even though they're there for him, I'm still pissed about last week. The sleepover was really nice though. Even friendships are not without drama. But it all works out in the end. Gun breaks Cher's Gameboy, but repairs it right away because of his bad conscience. But that's it for the drama, at least between Cher and Gun, right?

↑ 7. The Promise (7/10)

Party, my man! He has really thought, if you can not, Phu, then I'll show you how it's done right! Well, the result was rather so devastating, but I love how Nan reacted! As a person who has witnessed both sides, I think Nan gave the best reaction possible. He showed Party and told him that he is important to him and is and will be his best friend. And Party can now so slowly detach himself from the feeling. It is indeed easier to do such a thing when it is spoken out. Well and Phu…I even understand him. He just has zero hopes, so why jeopardize the friendship? Even though Nan took every opportunity to touch Phu's face in the morning…You can apply sunscreen several times, come on I'll show you. Yeah, right! The two of them have to finally talk to each other. And of course Phu isn't Nan's best friend anymore, because Nan doesn't consider him a friend anyway, he just doesn't quite understand yet what Phu actually is to him. Good episode.

↓ 8. Naked Dining (3/10)

Ohhhh, Futa is jealous! You can tell already very much that the two like each other a bit much. And finally the naked dining was back! And also with the homemade food he made together with Mahori. Yes, this is a rather quiet series as well. I don't know how much drama we can expect, but so far it's a gentle sprinkling. And I'm permanently hungry by the time I'm done with the episodes…

↓ 9. Step By Step (2/12)

Hm. I don't know. I don't like Jeng? And all the colleagues just suck! And then Pat is supposed to leave the only one who is nice to him and who is on the same page with him alone, because there might be gossip? That's bullshit! So I found the second episode not quite as convincing. The friends, on the other hand, except for the slip of his friend, who met professionally with his ex, I still find great!

↓ 10. Our Skyy 2 (3+4/16)

I really wanted to like it. But shit, was it boring! It's a fireworks display of cheesy dialogue…And what kind of ring is that? Am I just too anti-romantic to find that beautiful? I mean, yes, cute, sunflower and star together, but that's too much for a ring…And I have an idea for a new drinking game: A shot every time one of the two says I love you! And finally the cringiest quotes...

"Dao, you're trusting the right person, because I no longe know how to love anyone else. You're the only one I love." "Will you eat breakfast first or eat me first?" "I am all yours, Kluen. Yours and yours only, Kluen." "Once our home is done, our parents will discuss our wedding plans." (Even though Kluen didn't ask and Dao couldn't say yes…)

→ 11. Tin Tem Jai

I took notes: Why did a series like Tin Tem Jai have to include a drug storyline? There was no resolution to the story whatsoever, except that Kana would hit Pao if he took drugs again. Problem solved…Wow! Screw Pao's problems, they'll take care of themselves! Next, I noted: Why does Tin continue to be portrayed as this little boy. That just feels wrong to me. And again, I ask myself the question, how old is Tin supposed to be? And further, you guys can just kiss like that. You don't have to wait until your birthday. The whole kissing contact just doesn't feel good. There's just too much riding on the fact that Park is so much older and more experienced than Tin. I am constantly confused and not feeling good. Luckily next epsiode will be the last one! Finally!

1: What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do? Ward can sit still for like.. five or ten minutes unless he's super focused on his work, and half the time he works standing anyway (in which case thats.. not nothing to do so Cooper can sit still for a decent while! He used to pride himself on sitting so quietly people forgot he was there when they were younger and he's not very successful in breaking that habit. probably around the 20-30 minute mark Rory can definitely sit still for a long time, and usually cherishes the chance to because he's so busy on the farm. WILL probably fall asleep though! Sometimes just zones out, especially after a long day or if hanging out with farm babies

7: What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling? Ward: listening to rain on umbrellas and weather reports specifically for his hometown! Also, kids science cartoons. Yeah, he likes the feeling of nostalgia, though mostly when he's not regressed (when he's little, he's too active to sit and appreciate nostalgia lol) Cooper: Books about ducklings + rubber duckies, gumballs (esp the like 25 cent ones), and sleeping bags! They don't dislike the feeling of nostalgia, but they can only take so much before it starts bringing him down Rory: Juice boxes! Fruit salad skewers, and blowing on dandelions. Not too bothered either way about nostalgia, honestly

8: What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child Ward: START READING. if it wasnt a science related book, ward could not care less about it. genuinely, English classes were a misery for all parties involved! Stop going outside without a raincoat, and dang it, stop going outside in the middle of huge storms! Cooper: Would get told he needed to start speaking up for himself if he wanted things, and then would get told to stop being so demanding :/ "You need to start letting your siblings play with you!" "If you dont want them to touch your things, you need to stop leaving them out" <- older sibling never wins moments Rory: Please stop falling asleep in the sheep pen, we cannot find you. PLEASE. (POV: you are capri and you cant find your regressor in the sheep herd and the sheep totally know and wont help you)

37: Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)? Ward: Does not even bother, honestly. Basic memorization and simple frequency of usage is enough for him! ( but he's the kind of person to ask why you have color coded folders). Otherwise his work organization is entirely just.. related to the topic lol. Weather science - Non-weather science, but no fancy tricks! Cooper: Is the sort of person to mumble "Righty tighty, left loosey" under their breath! More likely to use anagrams, prefers things reasonably color coded (red engineering/security, blue science/medical, gold command). is the type to get stressed by trying to create ways to remember that are too specific, so they end up getting stress Rory: Color coding, usually! Nothing super complex, he doesnt have a lot he really needs to specifically remember

C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story? <- not at all embarrassed to admit my (agere) ocs are pretty much self indulgent first, story second D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look? Definitely edited for rory! At first he was more human and like. with horns and non-human ears and then i went "hmmm. you know what? lets have more fun with that" (also lowkey embarrassing bc i used to specifically try and like.. idk simplify? baby-fy? whatever my art style instead of just like. drawing like usual lol

#ward's personality is weather first me second #cooper has older (but not oldest) sibling in a large family syndrome so nostalgia is. conflicting for them #rory is a mc oc so its like my brain is like wym childhood. these things spawn as adults right #RIGHT?#character: ward #character: cooper #character: rory #hiii friend :D

Hello it's me again here to yell at you some more about gold as ginkgo because WHAT IS YOUR WRITING???? OMG I'm at ch23 already and so much has happened fcvhbjknklml amazing storytelling!!

Now this is gonna get a biiiit personal mayhaps sorry if that makes you uncomfy maybe?? But I just want to express how much I *adore* the way you portray the protag's anxiety and particularly the internal conflict of coming out of a toxic relationship.

this paragraph, this one in particular got me literally crying. I kid you not I started weeping and then went to talk to my besties because it's so real it hit me so hard. I'm sorry many people can relate of course but I in particular I'm just coming out (~5 months or so) of a 12+ year old toxic relationship and I've been struggling SO HARD, really so hard. And that made me feel validated, that made me feel like yes it's a thing it's normal. (I too had straight up panic attacks that left me with hands shaking and crying)

It looks eerily a lot like something I'd told my best friend weeks ago

anyway idk I just want to say your writing is amazing, the pacing, the characterization. I love that wifey doesn't just "get over" things or "get better" int he way it's usually portrayed, it's organic and slow and she falls back into negative thoughts and stutters and gets anxious but they ARE getting better in the little things, in the confidence, in the healing, in the feeling comfortable.

And it's not just that, the social anxiety, the nonbinary struggle, the feel that you're annoying others and have to be hyper independent never asking for help. I may not fully relate to all of them but you do make them important on the story and I feel like you portray them all so well.

I'm also gonna get a little personal because it also ties in with the fic and just, y'know, if we're sharing then I'm gonna share too.

I've said numerous times that wifey's experiences with anxiety stem from my own. I was also writing this fic during a few very difficult parts of my life so I really leaned HARD into those aspects of their character. Something I also mentioned a few times is that I used to write stuff on wattpad, I got burnt out, and then I didn't post fic for five years (which now that I think of it, technically not true because I did post some things on amino back in high school, but y'know). I never really stopped writing, though. Gave me room to experiment and because I'm A) a lifelong fan of the dark and macabre (even though I'm actually a bit of a chicken baby), and B) very depressed/anxious, naturally I leaned more into darker writing. I liked to make it a point of writing happy endings but I would put my charcters through the fucking wringer.

I was also a huge people pleaser in high school that didn't know how to make friends aside from the ones I already had. You can imagine how fucking devastated I was when one day, fuckin completely out of the blue, I was booted from my friend group. I only had like five friends and I kept two of them after that shit. One of those friends was a girl I had known since first grade. For the next two years right up until covid hit I was like "well fuck, Charlotte, guess you've only got two friends now. It's only a matter of time before they get sick of you too." It took me maybe a year for me to realize it wasn't my fault that the people I trusted turned out to be shitty, and it wasn't until like a year or two ago that I was able to actually open up and talk about that shit because I've been terrified to actually be vulnerable with people since then.

That's only like some of my damage, I've also got the eldest daughter and "ah fuck I think I'm undiagnosed neurodivergent" trauma. Two for one combo! Love it here!

So, yeah, I got pretty good at writing and specifically writing about people dealing with toxic relationships. Part of it is venting, part of it is wanting to raise awareness for these things, and part of it is just, idk, I like writing this stuff. I'll write whatever if it's interesting enough.

Anyways, thank you so much!!! There's more I could go on about but that's spoilers, so I just wanna say I'm really really happy you like what I've done! Put my heart and soul into this baby. Also yes this is horrifically self indulgent lmao, this fic was like entirely catered to me and my beta reader and apparently everyone else is into it.

let's see....

I've always been kind of fascinated by trying to imagine HOW one makes themselves into a puppet? (Sorry-- immediately dive into lowkey body horror here.) So my HC is that he did it piece by piece. Like, he removed his leg and used to make a puppet leg and stuck it back on, then did the other one, etc. Probably started trying to puppet himself with chakra strings long before he went about surgically moving parts of himself, so my the time he got around to doing any vital organs he didn't even really need them for anything but moving blood/synapses around (which he wasn't going to be needing soon anyway). It was a long, painful process, but it was totally worth it for the art.

Sasori really likes pretty people, and he dislikes when those around him don't take care of their appearance. That means if you talk to him for too long in a context where he's not going to murder you, he's going to make suggestions about picking more flattering clothes or better haircut decisions. Note that what Sasori thinks looks best might not be what you think looks best, or what current fashion trends think are best.

If Sasori starts telling you about what type of puppet he'd make with your corpse, that's just him showing affection. Him actually turning you into a puppet is also affection (unless it's malice).

Sasori just has, like.... accessories. Spare clothes. Hair styling equipment. Lying around. He needs them, okay?

I think Orochimaru actually really liked Sasori because.... look at him. Look at him. How and WHY did he do that?? It's fascinating~

On the flip side, I think Sasori probably respected Orochimaru's skills and expertise as a shinobi and scientist and then absolutely hated him as a person. Orochimaru just wastes a lot of time doing completely useless things for the drama and I think Sasori would hate it LMAO. Like maybe he liked him the first month they were together because Orochimaru could follow along in art-related conversation and also desired immortality, but then.... why is he like this

In canon, Deidara does say he respects Sasori as an artist. I don't think Sasori.... quite respects Deidara's art? I think Sasori probably saw Deidara as ~immature~ in his artistic endeavors (which is why Deidara was so loud about being fundamentally wrong, duh). But at the asme time, given Sasori never murdered Deidara, I think he did sort of begrudgingly appreciate him? Like, Deidara got the artist thing, and getting giving up your body to it, even if he was young and dumb about it. I could see the two of them staying in contact even if the Akatsuki dissolved.

Okay, I also believe it's canon that Mystical Palm is a "rare" technique, so I HC it as a sign of a really top-tier medical ninja and there being all sorts of medical techniques that don't use it. I think, given what he does, Sasori is likely at the level of a competent medical ninja who can't do Mystical Palm. Unfortunately, you r e a l l y don't want Sasori as your doctor.

I headcanon Sasori as being really famous as a missing-nin and one of the more famous Akatsuki members. Like, I HC Deidara and Hidan as being largely unknown due to age (Itachi is only famous because he..... did That); Pein and Konan are obviously known and loved within Rain but Rain is shut off to the rest of the world and they seem unknown outside of it; Kisame is probably famous as one of the Seven Swordsmen but less famous for being a missing-nin; Kakuzu is likely infamous in certain circles but given none of the Konoha guys made a huge deal of him, I HC him mostly keeping a low profile pre-Akatsuki. But Sasori is from an important Suna family, murdered the Kazekage, and also at one point took out a whole country somehow. Dude's been a scary, well-known missing-nin for a long time.

I'm not very curvy and I literally have the body of a cereal box...lol but its fine because I have nice hips and thighs. I have thick brown hair that goes down to my back and it gets tangled pretty easily but its kinda fluffy. I have brown eyes and tiny freckles all over my face and body. I also have a very strong grunge style, like Flannels, band t-shirts, combat boots, leather jackets etc. But i'd also always enjoy a nice oversized sweatshirt or hoodie with a pair of skinny, ripped jeans and some converses or something along those lines.

For my personality.....this is where things get interesting. At first people find me very intimidating due to my resting bitch face and cold exterior but I promise i'm not like that ALL the time. When you get to know me, i'm goofy and about everything that comes out of my mouth is sarcasm or some dry humored joke. I'm also that one friend in a group where they literally will do the stupidest shit ever like for an example one time it was super dark outside and my other friend was there, while I was trying to climb a tree and I failed and fell out of the tree, and landed on my back. I got straight up after that somehow it didn't hurt.....like at all? But yeah i'm super reckless and sometimes people have to save me from myself if you get what I mean. I also have a very strong "I don't give a fuck" attitude and I will not hesitate to stick up for myself or my friends....like i'm the type of person where if someone glares at me, i'll glare right back.

I have bad anxiety and I can be very self destructive. This is where my feisty, stubborn, hardheaded side comes in. If I want something then i'll fight for it even if it hurts me and i'll get into a bad cycle of putting myself down and trying to do better even if I did great the first time but I always push myself too far and other people have to stop me because I usually can't see it when its happening. I also cover my emotions up and I have a lot of trouble talking about whats bothering me or what problems i'm having emotionally so I put up a wall and I act tough, or happy and sometimes i'll be the exact opposite but I try to hide it.Weird things about me: I've grown up in the south all my life so sometimes when I talk a few words they'll come out sounding WAYYY more country and southern then I wanted, I don't have an accent but sometimes my words just come out that way. Sometimes in the middle of the night you can find me just staring at a wall or something because I can't go to sleep.....I have trouble sleeping.....

twist would be much more powerful if raya and namaari were shown to have a stronger emotional bond despite their nations having icy relations (and not just having met for what, one day?)

kinda confused as to what the characterisation of younger raya was set up for? her enthusiasm for war is juxtaposed with her father’s peaceful beliefs and 6 years later this doesn’t get addressed as much, although one could say her going after the fang girl was the triumph of her ‘war’ side

sisu’s design (and all the dragons really) irks me in that it’s too human- besides the pastel colours which i absolutely abhor (there’s not really any contrast, is there), the fact that they’re ancient creatures, having lived 500 years ago and are literally magic, why do they have to look like humans?? i hate it when in fantastical worldbuilding human features are given to species that absolutely do not need them

i for one am mad that the concept design which had black outlining the eyes and mouth and gold on the gill things wasn’t used, and it looked perfect for a water dragon with its very koi-like patterns

but for what it’s worth, props for steering clear of western dragon anatomy! asian dragons tend to be more snake-like rather than lizard-y and so the gratuitous shots of sisu snaking through the sky made me appreciate her design a little bit more

holy crap i love this whip-sword

the function of the gems confuses me: since sisu is shown to still have powers despite being away from the gems, why are they important except for warding off the druun? since the twist was realising the pieces had to combined and they had sought to collect the gem pieces before sisu ‘died’, what was their goal??

there’s a surprising amount of fight choreography for a disney movie, and it’s actually cool? like it’s amazing with the weapons, but when they both dropped their weapons and just went at each other with nothing but pure hand-to-hand combat I was so happy

love the parallel between the crossbow pointing at sisu and the sword triggering the crossbow

lowkey thought the blue stone in the dragon pendant was gonna be the last piece of the gem that namaari didn’t even know she owned à la over the moon but was pleasantly surprised they didn’t stick with that!

the hatred on raya’s face when she stormed into the palace was amazing and the fight that ensued had some really cool lighting holy-

can’t believe I'm saying this since I went in this movie unusually happy it doesn’t promise any romance, but the tension between raya and namaari and especially the fight scenes? unparalleled- take that what you will but between Raya’s sword and Namaari’s double blades, something is indeed going on

finally! a final fight where the side characters actually helped in the battle! bonus points for raya to realise what they were doing was more important and heroic than what she was at that moment

her distrust for namaari was what triggered the crossbow and her realising taking the first step to trust was the only way to lead the others to do the same...!! just wished she’d shown a bit more guilt or remorse at being partially responsible for sisu’s death

Not me gushing over the rain running down the stone statues and gradually falling away to reveal them still being alive because the textures

why oh why did the other dragons have to be back?? at first I thought raya’s naïveté at dragons being the only solution to peace was gonna be her lesson, that dragons don’t magically make the world better and you can’t bring peace without initiating it yourself- which kinda turned out to be true, she did save the world by initiating trust, so why are the other dragons back?? if the first magic didn’t save them, why did the second?? biggest criticism of the film so far (edit: comments have suggested raya and co. putting their trust in the dragon’s magic was what brought the dragons back, which, fair enough. but alas my desire for the dragons to remain stone still stands)

the whip sword

i pedantically have an issue with the ending boat scenes that concluded one adventure after the other- this director loves offscreen dialogue over a wide shot of the boat, which is fine BUT the dialogue always starts way too early and the volume never lowers to a suitable distance and it’s annoying me

some lines do seem to start too early, before the visuals cut to the next shot, without letting the scene breathe but maybe that’s just my lagging

there are some places where the split screens and special effects don’t serve the scene all that well and are only there to look cool (which on its own is a good enough reason but cmon disney!) like the beginning fight where there’s a really short shot of a split screen of raya and her dad, where her dad’s screen enters when he utters one line of dialogue before sliding out of frame. a lot of times this feels too videogame-y instead of a film

overall, this is a story that could’ve been told by anyone, but ultimately in its execution this movie is undoubtedly very disney. i have this nagging feeling that if this were made by some other studio, raya’s inner conflict of saving her dad rather than saving her world would have been focused on a lot more instead of the dragon stuff

and also, the fact that saving her dad = saving the world (it practically requires the same steps: retrieve the gems, un-stone everyone) really doesn’t drive the conflict between raya’s personal goal and the ‘right’ thing to do

to me, disney movies have a very general and surface level message that’s applicable to all ages and they package it very well in cool animation, good music and quality voice acting; it stops there at the thematic elements, however, and doesn’t go deeper than that.

raya’s desire for vengeance is very quickly resolved upon her facing the demon-things and realising she needs to trust, thus righting her priorities cleanly and swiftly. but raya stands out from other princesses in that she believes the world is broken, having being broken herself, and no longer has hope in the world- her quest is to solely bring her dad back.

this I feel like could have been touched on and explored in really cool ways, but it didn’t, which was what I expected anyways. disney has perfected their formula for safe, generally good movies, and doesn’t even try to dig deeper into the stories they choose to tell, which is an absolute shame because this is such a cool concept!

[ 7:39 pm ] resting your feet up on the coffee table in front of you, you glanced at the clock waiting for jaehyun to get home after work. thinking it would be a while till he got home, you switched on the tv, flipping through channels mindlessly when the door opened. you looked up, your expression confused when you heard a “honey! i’m home!!”

turning the corner, you came to face a dimply jaehyun, face a little tired but nonetheless happy to see you. he was quick to engulf you in a hug and a little peck on your cheek before heading to a shower.

until then, you returned to your former place on the couch, munching on a few snacks you rummaged out of the kitchen, waiting for jaehyun to join in a cuddle session. however jaehyun had other plans, running to jump on the sofa, making you flinch and whine at his antics.

“why would you do that jae!!” you whined even more as he pulled you in a little headlock, instigating a wrestle. of course you didn’t say no because now you were not willing to lose. that went on to a heated match on the carpeted floor, with you straddling a red face jaehyun you tickled his sides, waiting for him to admit defeat.

“fine fiNE I SAID YOU WIN” he exclaimed, leaning to his side after you stood up, only to fall on the couch laughing at the poor boy. “okay you can stop wheezing now:(” jaehyun announced sitting beside you, sukling. wiping the remaining tears by your eyes, you leaned forward to hug the boy beside you, pressing a loving peck to his pouty lips.

“you know i love you but you were literally asking for it” “yeah i thought i’d win!! i never knew you were good at wrestling sigh. you could’ve told me we could’ve bet hyuck together that day when he was acting up!!!” he tutted, going on about how you had hurt his pride.

“i’m sorry love but can we just cuddle now, that’s what i had been trying to do before you pounced onto me, asking for war!” you said, pulling a laughing jaehyun to your bed, falling on your back together.

staring at the ceiling, the two of you went on about conspiracy theories and ways to run away from johnny third wheeling almost all your dates. turning to your side, you started at jaehyun and then his hair. ‘damn this boy has soft hair’ you would think, hands reaching up to touch.

“what are you doing love?” jaehyun questioned, voice soft and his eyes closed at your touch. “literally how do you guys manage to keep your hair so bouncy and soft even after a billion rounds of bleach, it’s mind boggling!!” you spoke in amusement, jaehyun chuckling at your random discovery.

“treatment, baby” he muttered, in a state of sleep from you hands playing with his bangs softly. not long later, you could hear his snores and chuckling, straightened his body so he was sleeping comfortably. pulling the blankets on the two of you, you kissed his forehead before sleeping cuddled into his shoulder uwu.

hii! thank you!! 😳💕

i wanted to do some general tutorials a while ago but i need to plan them out since i like to be detailed and still hadn’t come around to it. but my colorings are also pretty simple so i don’t really consider myself good enough to teach anyone much. i did lowkey write an essay rn to explain how i do them now because i often see tutorials say what to do but don’t mention why. there is of course numerous way to do one thing in photoshop this is just a way i find it fastest and most effective.

and i was just about to delete files of some of my recent gifs to free space, but luckily i didn’t yet so i’ll include them below to download so you can see what i did on each one.

anyway here’s how i edit below the cut :D

1) 1.1 this is not directly related to coloring but it does affect it. first you wanna make sure that the file you’re working with is in good quality. ideally you should look for shows/movies that are 1080p but 720p also works. i’m using 720p here.

1.2 to make gifs look smooth it’s also important to have right frame rate that’s not too low or too big. i take screen caps with kmplayer and these are my settings.

2) after exporting frame to photoshop i turn them into a gif with frame delay of 0,05 (sometimes more but max 0,07). also i sharpen them right away because sharpening affects how coloring will look. i use ‘smart sharpening’ and here is the picture of settings i used now. normally i set amount to 500 with radius either 0,03 or 0,04 but here it was either oversharpened or not enough so i experimented with settings to see how it looks nicest (the higher the file size you work with the higher you can set sharpening without ruining the gif. so when i work with 1080p i pretty much always set it to 500). anyway now that we have that set, this is what we’re starting with:

3) when it comes to coloring i make it very simple by using only 3-4 color adjustment tools (mostly brightness/contrast, selective color & color balance). trick to vibrant gifs is using ‘brightness/contrast’ options gradually as you color gifs. for example look at this set. i used brightness and contrast 3 times till i got it to where i wanted to. repeating this step depends purely on personal preference and lightning in the scene you’re working with. the darker it is the more you will probably have to do it, but i mostly use it around 3 times.

3.1 so i start by using ‘brightness/contrast’ tool and i set brightness to 51 and contrast to 9 (settings picture). you’re obviously gonna have different settings on each set you do. however what i always do is set brightness higher than the contrast. also don’t overdo it if it doesn’t look bright enough because you'll be doing it two more times.

3.2 after that i start fixing the colors and i usually start with ‘color balance’ tool (settings for this gif here). i generally only move blue and magenta a bit. this is especially useful if you’re working with scenes that are overwhelmed with certain color (for example in my yneh edit you can see how drastically it changes from green to more natural colors). the more natural the scene is the less i use it.

3.3 third thing i did in this step is to use selective color tool. now when i first use it i only change setting on two colors as you can see here. i like to darken red because it helps to keep skin tone and i darken black because it makes gifs appear more quality. i only do it mildly in this step.

3.4 another thing which is optional but unnecessary for me to do here is to add ‘vibrance’. so far my gif has enough color, but there are certain scenes that are very pale or have lost some color after brightening them. in this example i restored some color so it became more vibrant because the scene needed it. this is also a way to avoid whiteashing!! what we have for now:

4) now i basically repeat same thing until it looks good. i added another ‘brightness/contrast’ option and then i used ‘selective color’ to fix the skin and background. i mostly only touch red, yellow and black (see here). once again i darkened black tones in each color to up the quality. you can see here how much difference that makes.

5) same as before i added another brightness/contrast option and i fixed skin further with selective color. in this case i also recolored background because blue/purple comes of more vibrant (see all here). after that i played with selective color two more times until i was happy with how everything looked. see inside pds file to see all changes i did (download here). once again darkening blacks even just a bit improves overall look.

6) other adjustments depend on the gif itself and personal style. sometimes i add some other options like ‘curves’ or more ‘color balance’. one other thing that i wanted to fix here was skin color of other people (once again useful to avoid whitewshing in many cases). i just wanted to town down yellow a bit and i did that by setting mask and adding selective color (see here).

that’s pretty much it. these are my saving settings.

lighter gifs will probably be easier to do and won’t need so much fixing but it really depends on the scene. for example this didn’t need so much retouching (also it looks grainier because i put unedited version next to it. it looks better when you just save edited gif asdfghjk).

some tips:

- if the gif is pixelated or grainy sometimes it helps to save it as pattern instead of diffusion (pic)

- when you make very vibrant gifs they will have a lot of color. photoshop however saves only 256 which means your gifs will sometimes turn out like this. to fix this you can add ‘hue/saturation’ tool and lower saturation. you can also use ‘selective color’ and try to dawn down all background colors. this can also happen when you have multiple scenes in a single gif. there’s just too many colors then and you should probably cut them to only one scene (for example this is a gif i tried to do of multiple cuts that turned out too pixelated on the rain scene because there were too many colors so i decided not to post it).

- even if you’re working with same scene for a gifset you will still have to adjust coloring based on how lightning changes or the dynamic will be off. look at example.

- to lighten gifs you can also use ‘levels’ or ‘curves’ option instead of brightness/contrast. sometimes it works better.

- try to keep it natural and enhance already existing colors.

- sometimes something that looks good on pc will look way off on mobile so i usually check and adjust based on both.

Pokemon SwSh GPL AU: Get to know _____

I mentioned yesterday that I would go more into why I like Bea and Bede as a pair, and this is how I’ll do it! Quick notes for newcomers: I’ve aged up the main cast a bit so instead of being 10-12, they’re 16-17 (as an adult, I cannot fathom a 10 year old living on their own for a year). I head cannon Bede as 17 and Bea as 18, so they’re only about a year apart in age. I think I’m gonna call them Pinkpunchshipping? Thoughts? I’m open to workshopping the name.

Get to Know Bea x Bede (Ship name still being determined):

1: Who spends almost all their money on the other? Bede. 100% Bede. I don’t see Bea as someone who would show affection through gifts, but Bede is the complete opposite. He is constantly bringing her little sweets as pick-me-ups.

2: Who sleeps in the other’s lap? Bede will sleep with his head in Bea’s lap all the time. It’s hard not to nod off when she’s playing with his fluffy head of hair.

3: Who walks around the house half-naked and who yells at them to put on some clothes? Bea, probably, but not in a seductive way? She works out a lot, so it is common for her to come home after a long workout and immediately get out of her sweaty clothes. Bede doesn’t yell at her because he gets too flustered whenever it happens (how these two got together in the first place is a mystery to everyone).

4: Which one tells the other not to stay up all night and which one stays up all night anyway? Bea is a morning person and Bede is a night person. They’ve tried to adjust it so that they wake up and go to bed together but gave up after an irritable week. As long as Bede is around when Bea goes to sleep and Bea doesn’t wake him up at the crack of dawn, they’re good.

5: Which one tries to make food for the other but burns it all by accident and which one tells them that it’s okay and makes them both cookies? Bea can cook one thing and it is ramen. They are damn lucky that Opal forced Bede to learn how to cook, otherwise it would be takeout every night.

6: Which one reads OTP prompts and says “Oh that’s us!” and which one goes “Eh, not really”? Neither. Bea is a realist and Bede is an individualist that doesn’t like being compared to other people.

7: Which one constantly wears the other’s clothes? On stay-at-home days, Bede will borrow one of Bea’s oversized hoodies to wear (his sense of fashion means he gives up comfort for beauty, so he owns next to no sweats). Bea thinks it’s adorable and teases him all the time for it.

8: Which one spends all day running errands and which one says “You remembered [thing], right?” Okay, stick with me on this one. I think that they almost always do errands together because, early in their relationship, they would always buy the wrong thing for the other. Going shopping together started as something they had to do as a pair, but now I think it’s just a lowkey way to spend time together.

9: Which one drives the car and which one gives them directions? Bea would drive, Bede would give directions. She is better at staying focused for long periods of time and he’s better at planning ahead.

10: Which one does the posing while the other one draws? Bea would definitely draw Bede. Bea picked up sketching to de-stress from Honey, so it is incredibly likely that Bede would be an eventual model for her (it’s not like she starts sketching him constantly when she recognises her feelings for him and nearly bursts into flames when he finds her sketchbook. That would be silly).

11: If they were about to rob a museum, which one does backflips through lasers and which one is strolling behind with a bag of chips? My first thought was that obviously Bea would be the backflipper, but the more I thought about it, the more I realised Bede would be the backflipper. He is so freaking extra about everything. OF COURSE he would try to show off.

12: Which one of your OTP overdoes it on the alcohol and which one makes the other stop drinking? Bede is a casual drinker, so his tolerance is pretty high. Bea hardly drinks, so it only takes her about 2 shots to get drunk. Bede tries to get her to take it easy, but if someone (like Raihan) challenges her, she will not back down. There hasn’t been a New Years Eve party that Bede hasn’t carried Bea home.

14: Which one keeps accidentally using the other’s last name instead of their own? Bea. It takes separation and a lot of long talks for her to realise that her home life was very toxic. The only reason she decides to take Bede’s last name when they get married is to spite her parents.

15: Which one screams about the spider and which one brings the spider outside? Bede 100% is freaked out by bug pokemon, but he tries to play if off like he isn’t scared.

16: Which one gives the other their jacket? I feel like it depends on the situation. Space Heater Bea is never cold, so if it’s chilly, Bede is the one getting the jacket. However, Bede will give Bea his jacket as a form of comfort if he senses something is off.

17: Who keeps getting threatened by the other’s overprotective older sibling (or a similar figure)? Bea is very intimidated by Opal. They are complete opposites when it comes to personality other than their shared competitiveness. Bea is convinced that Opal hates her (Opal actually really likes Bea, she just would rather die than tell her that).

18: Who’s the first one to admit they have feelings for the other? Oh my god, when I say it took forever for one of them to confess, I mean three whole years of hopeless pining. Neither of them are good at talking about their feelings, so they’ll try to find subtle ways to confess to the other. Unfortunately, they are also as dense as each other when it comes to romance. I think Bede would eventually get so frustrated that he blurts it out, then immediately tries to take it back. Thankfully, Bea was too stubborn to let him.

19: How good would your OTP be at parenting? Terrible. Absolutely terrible. I think they would definitely try their hardest if it ever happened, but I also don’t really see them having children?

20: Which one types with perfect grammar and which one types using numbers as letters? Bede = Perfect Grammar. Extra dramatic. Will call someone out if they send him a spelling error. Bea = short, chaotic sentence fragments. Bede tried calling her out on it once but she shut him down real fast.

21: Who gets attacked by a bully and who protects them? They are both SUPER protective people, so I like to think they take turns. Bea tends to scare them off by fighting them, and Bede destroys people with his words.

22: Who makes the bad puns and who makes a pained smile every time the other makes a pun? Bede has definitely picked up some dramatics from Opal’s training. Whenever the occasional “pink” pun slips into his sentences, Bea has to try very hard not to comment on it.

23: Who comes home from work to see that the other one bought a puppy? If Bea finds a stray pokemon, she will hold onto it until it can be returned to its owner. She also catches a lot more fighting pokemon than she will every need and goes camping with them once a week. 6 pokemon Bede cannot relate.

24: Which one gives the other a piggyback ride when they’re tired? Oh my gosh, neither. It’s not that they wouldn’t give the other a piggy back: Both are too prideful to ask for one, so they mostly just end up leaning heavily on the other until they return home.

25: Which one competes in some sort of activity and which one does the overzealous cheering? Bea gets waaayy to into Bede’s pokemon matches. She will scream at the TV (or from the audience if she is in Ballonlea that day) until she is hoarse. Bede gets really embarrassed, but it's because he’s flattered.

26: Who takes a selfie when the other one falls asleep on their shoulder? Bede. I mentioned earlier that Bea falls asleep faster than Bede (unless his head is on her lap), so he has a secret folder of photos on his phone with the two of them cuddling together. Bea knows he has this folder and will get incredibly flustered if it’s brought up.

27: Which one would give the other a makeover if they asked? BEDE. He wants nothing more than to give his sporty girlfriend a high fashion makeover. Bede thinks she’s beautiful, of course, but he just wants to see what it would look like. One year on his birthday, she humors him and he is BUZZING WITH EXCITEMENT.

28: Which one owns a pet that the other is absolutely terrified of? Bede is super intimidated by some of Bea’s pokemon. (Bea is intimidated by his type advantage against her, but that’s different).

29: Which one holds the umbrella over both of them when it rains? Bede. He’s taller and insists on being a gentleman.

30: If your OTP went on vacation, where would they go and what would they do? Who would take the pictures? I feel like they would go to Kalos. Bede would insist they visit the boutiques while Bea made sure they hiked in the mountains. Bede would take the pictures, but Bea would sketch a lot.

So hello friends welcome to my reviews. I type my pure, unfiltered (mostly) thoughts about movies. I call it ‘chey watches films’ and I promise it’s going to stop being so serious.

My first film I decided to do this on is Promising Young Woman since it was a hit at this past Sunday’s Oscars. Which was amazing - btw. So, of course. Spoilers ahead. These were my thoughts as they happened knowing nothing about the story because I don’t watch trailers on purpose.

hey!! i haven’t talked to you in forever i hope you’re doing well. idk if you’ve answered this recently, sorry- top three on every album (totally put why if you want to, i love hearing people’s different opinions on this)

ahhh hey! i’m doing okay (as well as can be considered given the state of the world). i have not answered this question since folklore came out, so here’s a short opinion piece by yours truly. (under the cut because i never learned to shut up)

debut: - our song: listening to taylor swift sing from the “man’s perspective” for the first time is something that can be so personal. i’m pretty sure that this is also the first taylor song i ever heard (in 2012) so i have some degree of emotional attachment to it. - invisible: cause i just wanna show you! she don’t even know you! visceral flashbacks of playing this on loop while watching ever after high and harry potter videos in, like, fifth grade. truly describes my pining for every single person i’ve ever liked oops - should’ve said no: she’s so righteously angry and i love it. also the country accent is so strong here and i am absolutely obsessed with that.... legends only. anyway this is your reminder not to get back with your scumbag ex.

fearless: - love story: this is a classic! this is literally a classic. god the forbidden love, the happy ending, this implications of this being one of the biggest hits of her career.... it is The Ultimate Taylor Swift Song and we all just have to respect that. also a healthy dose of “the man’s perspective.” she SAW that film before and she changed the ending!! i cannot :) - come in with the rain: her vocals on this song are so dreamy and the song is really sweet. i think it manages to be lowkey and straddle how fucking dramatic being a teenager is with a lot of class that most of fearless doesn’t access. it’s a good song! - you belong with me: hey it’s the lonely hopeless romantic anthem! yes i know i’m citing the two biggest hits from fearless... they got popular because they’re super good okay! i would argue that the songwriting here is very classic taylor and it’s also super sweet :)

speak now: - last kiss: ugh this really is an amazing breakup ballad. it’s full of amazing one-liners like “you can plan for a change in the weather and time but i never planned on you changing your mind.” i can’t believe how brilliant the whole song is and it’s even more impressive when you remember she wrote it alone. cannot wait to hear the updated vocals but the shaky breaths in the original are perfection <3 - enchanted: okay this is actually my favourite speak now song but i thought i’d shut up about being a lonely romantic for more than five seconds! anyway i have projected this onto so many people... it’s so relatable and yet it’s super general and YET it makes no sense when you think about it... that’s my style of taylor swift song - the story of us: i love how blatantly unhinged taylor was while writing speak now it really speaks to me. i didn’t really like this one so much before but i went through a Thing and binge listened and now i am obsessed. love love love the lyrics and i think the production suits it well too

red: - holy ground: this is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE taylor swift song. i genuinely think these are the best lyrics she has written in her whole career.... “we blocked the noise with the sound of you and for the first time i had something to lose?” no one is doing it like her they simply aren’t. this song is absolutely perfect.... i don’t really have words to describe it i just need everyone to appreciate my taste for a minute - treacherous: gay little taylor swift. the whole idea of forbidden love crops up again here and i have to say i love it. i swear to god the vibes... the quiet confessional on the verses that explodes into this huge ranting bridge? that’s it that’s it that’s one of the best songs of all time man miss swift is an icon - state of grace: love is like a religion, perhaps. this contains such a wonderful extended metaphor and utilizes a bunch of different writing tactics so well. i sound like a broken record at this point but this is a good song! and yes i project it onto lucas (i’m fine to say that no one is reading this much)

1989: - wildest dreams: oh just say you’ll remember me! it’s the songs about doomed love that always get me, something forbidden, something you have to keep private for fear of it being destroyed. side note, everyone who thinks a song as good as this is about harry styles can fight me. taylor pulled this out of my personal diary in sixth grade and it hasn’t stopped being relatable since - wonderland: oh you guys know i love a literary reference and wonderland is so good. haven’t you heard what becomes of curious minds is also really gay so the song works well for me. oh and a special shoutout to everyone who removed a tattoo because of this song, i hope you’re doing real well - style: very happy that i never think of anyone in particular when i listen to this banger and instead just enjoy it like a normal person <3 i remember not understanding the hype until binge listening to 1989 one day in eighth grade and being like “oh i get it now” so there’s that (shoutout to this love for nearly being on this list)

reputation: - dancing with our hands tied: this is another one of my all time favourites! the pining, the gay vibes, the love that dies in secrecy... it basically goes through my list of how to be a good song and ticks my requirements off one by one. i love how anxious the production is and her emotion while singing it on rep tour. karlie kloss fucking fight me challenge. - new year’s day: this quiet subtlety of this love ballad gets to me... it was my favourite when i originally listened to reputation and hasn’t fallen out of the top three since. i think it highlights taylor’s songwriting abilities and her ability to make me cry, both very important aspects of music - delicate: this is another hopeless romantic pining song! how many are we up to now? i really think delicate is the essential crush song that describes basically every feeling i’ve ever had. and unfortunately, up to this point, it has all been delicate :/ at least i have the solace of sharing problems with a talented millionaire

lover: - cruel summer: this really is THE fucking song for me... it encapsulated my ninth grade year, it makes my heart hurt, it’s line after line of pain to me personally. i have no idea what miss swift is banging on about here (and i prefer it that way) but it really just means a lot to me! another song that sounds like my diary entry and is also completely inaccessible, i don’t know how she does it. - the archer: i love the moment where taylor swift decided that she was going to give those of us with anxiety a theme song every single album, and i think the archer is a definite highlight of her whole career. the subtle dreampop influences and the confessional vibes make it exactly what i wanted from lover, and also it hurts me emotionally in ways i can’t fully articulate. - lover: see, i do have a heart! listen, i’m only fifteen years old but i know i want this song to play at my wedding. it is so quietly romantic and perfectly sure of its own goals. it does not seek to accomplish any other goal than being a love song. i started thinking about the lyrics while writing this and now i have to go cry in a corner. (shoutout to cornelia street for nearly being on this list)

folklore: - mirrorball: right on holy ground’s heels for the dubious honour of being my favourite ever taylor swift song, mirrorball describes my Whole Life so unfortunately i’m considering suing miss swift herself. i just think that it speaks to me in ways that would require a whole essay to explain.... let’s just not - august: here’s your mandatory hopeless romantic pining song. did i mention i nearly cried to this on the day of release? i think that she Gets It. i don’t know taylor and i don’t entertain delusions of her knowing me but man she really just plucked the core of my whole love life and said “here’s a song about it, will you shut up now?” back when we were still changing for the better... i need a minute - betty: definitely influenced by the stellar performance at the acms! or maybe i just love listening to taylor openly singing about girls.... i just have a lot of feelings about the emotional resonance about the grand romantic gesture this song builds up to! the key change! the storytelling! kissing on the porch in front of all your stupid friends! this is what taylor swift is all about (shoutout to illicit affairs, my tears ricochet, and this is me trying for nearly being on this list)

Halsey- Manic (review and analysis)

Ashley- I’m really loving the instrumentals on this song. It reminds me of an idea floating through space and time. Perhaps the idea is to let go of a relationship that isn’t there anymore but is still floating around for reminiscent purposes. I also think the movie quote is a great way to end such a beautiful, strongly vocalized piece and it goes without saying that it’s the perfect transition into the next song.

Clementine- so while I was going further research on this album, I came across the initial intent behind this song. There are two meanings being voiced in this song. When she sings “I don’t need anyone,” one voice is calm while the other voice is happy. The shouting suggests a state of mania while the normal singing voice is while she is experiencing a depressive state. I like how this is incorporated into the whole idea of the album. It also seems like one of those songs where the fans would appreciate shouting.

I’m also coming across some meanings of my own. The theory that artists are depressed is represented in this song strongly. So when she sings this live, I’d imagine she would maybe sing the chorus instead of shouting it (I’ve never seen her live but trust me it’s on my bucket list.) So artists are constantly involved in making their fans happy. The fans would be screaming this song at the top of their lungs while she sings it.

I am also noticing some parallels which I am a huge fan of. She starts the song off by saying “I'd like to tell you that my sky's not blue, it's violent rain,” while in the song Hurricane off of Badlands, she says “I’m the violence in the pouring rain,” and I absolutely love that reference.

Graveyard- I enjoy this song A LOT. I feel like she went in the right direction choosing this song and the single “Without Me,” to promote her album. I have to say that it sums up the album perfectly. This song discusses the turmoil within a harmful relationship and how she would have stayed had she ignored red flags.

You should be sad- I might get some backlash for this but this song isn’t for me. I love how she is experimenting with different genres of music on this album but I have never been a fan of country style music. I would just find it more enjoyable if I liked country. However, it is not a bad song at all, it just isn’t for me. It lowkey gives me a Carrie Underwood ``Before He Cheats” vibe though, which I am totally on board with.

Forever...(is a long time)- THIS IS WHAT IM FUCKING TALKING ABOUT. This song is seriously a certified banger. It starts off with a somewhat happy melody and slowly transitions into a somber piano melody which is beautifully written. Then she belts it out with the lyrics “Build love, build God, build provinces. Build calluses, break promises ‘Cause I could never hold a perfect thing and not demolish it.” I also love how distortion is added on her voice mixed in with a haunting organ in the background. She ends the song with, “talk to your man, tell him he’s got bad news coming,” which I think is absolutely iconic, and yet another great transition into the next song.

Dominic’s Interlude- This song is definitely influenced by music in a different era. I like whatever effect they used on his voice in this song. This would advocate that another person sees the toxicity within her relationship within their perspective, as the lyrics suggest.

I HATE EVERYBODY- I feel like a lot of people can relate to this song and I think hearing it live would be such a cool thing to experience. This was definitely written for fans to scream at the top of their lungs.

3am- The rock influences are without a doubt prominent in this song, and it would be so cool to experience live. She often talks about her rock influences and I'm happy she decided to make it known within her music. I think it works really well for her various influences intervened throughout the album. The song talks about how different relationships affect her and the people she surrounds herself with. These relationships are, however, temporary to avoid loneliness and wishes they were more than just physical.

Without Me- At the end of the previous song, she incorporated a voicemail that praises the fact that this is her best song. I think she is absolutely proud of this song (trust me I listened to it a million fucking times when it came out) and that’s why she put it in the song. Anyway, I think this is a very delicate way of saying “fuck you, I don’t need you.” It’s a great single and I don’t have much to say other than it is absolutely perfect.

Finally // beautiful stranger - She talks about how she comes across a stranger who she is interested in pursuing a relationship with. However, she is afraid to continue in fear that this person is going to take advantage of her because of previous relationships. In light of this conflict, she is hoping that this person stays because she likes this person. I like the guitar progression in this song and the strongly vocalised pieces throughout.

Alanis’ Interlude - It wouldn't be a Halsey album without her pride in being bisexual, and this song does a perfect job in doing so. It starts off with Alanis’ famous strong vocals and delves into pumping drum beats. The lyrics suggest sexual innuendos referring to her physical relationship with the same sex. It established how she feels the same about women as she does men and it does not make a difference to her. She feels strongly about the idea that labels mean nothing and how she longs for acceptance. She also wanted Alanis to feature in the song because of how she impacted her musical endeavors. I love her feature in this song and the harmonies between Halsey and Alanis are ON POINT.

Killing boys- topping things off with another great revenge song. I noticed how she includes “you don’t need me anymore” in the beginning of a song and she ends the song with “I don't need you anymore,” which symbolizes the progress of getting over someone. I would have to say this is my favorite song off the album besides Alanis’ Interlude.

SUGA’s Interlude- I didn’t like this song at first, mainly because I never got into Kpop. But it’s not necessarily a kpop song, which is what kept me entertained. It’s starting to grow on me recently. This song indicates the struggle of wanting to keep going forward and giving up at the same time, which I had been struggling to find a song with this concept until this one came along. I think it is also just the struggle of being an artist and coming to a common ground of making people happy but also keeping yourself happy simultaneously.

More- I was reading up on this song, and she states how it is a song written about a person who does not exist yet. She is referring to her unborn child, which she has also stated having reproductive issues insinuating her struggle to have children. I was so unaware that this was the meaning behind the song and I am happy that she confirmed this because I’m certain that it would help a lot of people going through the same problem.

Still Learning- One of the main themes throughout this album are also condensed into this particular song. This one is heavy on the idea of learning to love yourself, which she is relying on other people in order to obtain that benefit as suggested by other songs off of this album. This song, however, is learning to love yourself without the help of others. It also suggests the downsides of being a well known artist and how it’s difficult to maintain good self-esteem in such a career.

929- This song is just absolutely beautiful. It seems as if she summarized her entire life and somehow condensed it down into 3 minutes. The instrumentals are so simple, yet her lyrics are just rambling one intense subject onto the next. Everything she talks about in this song is powerful. It talks about moving, love, acceptance, growth, and so on. However, I wanted to talk about something worth noting. Before this album came out, Halsey was doing a Q&A on Twitter and a fan pointed out how she stated this is going to be a very personal album. A fan has said, “I feel like you’ve said that about the last two albums,” and she responded with, “Nah. There’s two types of honesty. Answering a question with the truth and offering the truth without being asked. This is the latter.” This is a perfect ending to such a beautifully written album.

I'm giving this album a strong 9 out of 10. Let me just say that it is INSANELY hard for me to say anything bad about this album if i'm being completely honest. I’ve been listening to it constantly and keep discovering things that I would have never guessed. She hit the nail on the head with the themes and the overall state of mania in this album. An emotional roller coaster for sure.
