#and a cool piece of random history now i guess

Note
hi! love your blog, i love getting to see all these cool cat colors i didnt even know were a thing LOL like i didn’t know there was such a thing as lilac or cinnamon but theyre so pretty.
ive been looking into getting a ragdoll in the future, the ones i have met have been the sweetest cats and they’re so pretty.
ive been doing research into possible health concerns they can have, and all im really seeing is the same things your typical random little guy could have when improperly cared for and things like that. kidney disease while on a bad diet, issues with hairballs when not brushed and groomed properly due to being long haired, etc. ive seen a few places say that they’re more prone to respiratory issues and heart disease, but the latter also seems to be something that breeders work to make sure their cats are safe from? at least in my research.
i guess im basically just wondering if you know anything else that can affect ragdolls specifically, or if there’s anything horribly unethical that’s totally swept under the rug or hidden about them! additional things to research and places to look would be appreciated, i never know where to research stuff like this reliably and you seem to know where to find some good info and stuff on cat breeds :)
thank you in advance for any help you can give, i hope have a good day!!
I’m glad you enjoy the blog and are learning about some new colors!
Ragdolls are definitely cool cats and they’re a pretty health breed, one of the major things to be mindful of is that this assessment only applies to well-bred individuals from good breeders.
Common breeds mean a lot of breeders which, unfortunately, also means a lot of scammers and bad breeders.
And the Ragdoll is a very common breed so there are a lot of not so good breeders out there… and the temperament and health of these backyard bred cats is a gamble, one that can end in heartbreak.
Now with that warning out of the way the big thing to worry about with the breed is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Fortunately the mutation responsible for this condition in the breed has been identified and can be tested for. Staying on top of heart health is an absolute must for a good breeder, this means regular echocardiogram’s as well as DNA testing.
The other big ones are Polycystic Kidney Disease and Progressive Retinal Atrophy, both of which can be tested for. These are common inherited disorders in the purebred population, you’ll have a hard time finding a breed which neither of these have been documented in.
Mucopolysaccharidosis VI is a storage disease that has been documented in the Ragdoll breed but it can be tested for and I’m not sure how common it is in current breeding populations.
A breeder shouldn’t cut corners when it comes to health testing, there are several commercially available tests which look for a wide variety of inherited disorders. Optimal Selection is becoming increasingly widely used, although personally I would feel most comfortable with testing submitted through somewhere like UC Davis.
But HCM is the big big one because heart disease is a silent killer. With the other conditions clinical symptoms will be apparent but a cat with HCM could appear normal and you wouldn’t know without testing. And remember - not all cardiac cases will have a heart murmur, either!
The other thing to keep in mind with Ragdolls is they seem to be more prone to developing Feline Infectious Peritonitis. This one is a little more complicated.
FIP occurs due to mutations in the feline coronavirus, which is a common viral infection in cats. Until recently FIP was considered nearly 100% fatal but thanks to Dr. Niels Pederson we now have a promising cure. One of our patients was actually one of the original study cats and has been doing well all this time, she’s amazing to work with - like a piece of living history!
One of the big problems with the treatment is the legality of it… for a long time it was only available through the black market and could easily run you thousands of dollars. Treatment is gradually becoming available through legal venues but it depends on where you live.
Anyways, the point is that we don’t know exactly why these mutations occur in some cats and not others but there’s strong evidence that there’s a genetic component - it’s common for related cats to develop FIP, we’ve seen this multiple times with littermates. We also know that it occurs at a higher incidence in some breeds than others…
And presumably your kitten wouldn’t have been exposed to feline coronavirus at the cattery but it’s not unlikely that they would be exposed at some point in their life given they don’t reside in a bubble… and if or when this happens what are the chances it’ll become the dreaded FIP?
So mitigating this risk when purchasing from a breeder can be a little more complicated… it’s not something I think should turn you off of the breed but it is something to keep in mind - and if you look into a breeder that seems good but has a lot of reviews or reports of their graduate kittens and cats developing FIP? Probably best to keep looking.
I think that’s a pretty good summary on the breed’s health but people are always welcome to chime in!

Back in 2009, Samsung sold these netbooks that shipped with win7 starter that could boot to something called "phoenix hyperspace". This is fascinating if you're a nerd.

I Believe What You Said [James Wilson x Reader]
I have been bingewatching House, and I fell back in love with the adorable golden retriever of an oncologist. And I actually managed to write!
Warnings: hinted smut, female reader, reader has a last name (there is a reason), no use of y/n, House is House, reader is 30
Tumblr media
“You called a hooker to the hospital? I’m telling mom!” Wilson sighed and went to apologise but the woman with him merely laughed, “then I guess you won’t want to hear about my two for one special? I’m told it’s knee-trembling.” “Oh I like her, hire her again.” “I don’t think he’s going to go away any time soon, I’ll see you later?” The woman smiled softly at Wilson and nodded. “Yeah. Thanks James.” As she reached the door she stopped and glanced back at the two men, “nice to meet you House.” “So, you got her card? How much does she charge an hour?” “I’m not even going to dignify that with a response.” Wilson sighed heavily, settling back into his chair. “What do you want House?” “I want to know who the hot piece of ass in your office was.” House wiggled his eyebrows. “You’re disgusting. And it may come as a surprise to you, but sometimes people other than you actually come to consult me on cases. Now, what did you want?” “Oh, I’ve got something way more interesting to look into now.” House grinned, making his way back towards the door and leaving a baffled oncologist behind him.
“So, who’s the hot new doctor you hired?” “Hello to you too House.” Cuddy hummed, not looking up from her computer. “I haven’t hired any new doctors.” “Well there’s no way Wilson has the balls to bring a hooker to a hospital. Short, stupid accent, wears a lot of black, doesn’t quite have your cleavage but-” he cupped his hands around his chest “-about yae big?” “You’re disgusting.” Cuddy huffed. “Why do you care?” “What, I can’t get to know the fourth ex-Mrs Wilson?” He smirked. “You know, I think she’s young enough to be his daughter.” “She’s 30!” “So you do know who she is?!” He looked practically elated, or as elated as House could get, “c’mon mom, little Jimmy gets all the cool new friends.” “She was a trauma surgeon, and if you actually did the clinic hours you were supposed to do you would have met her before now.” Cuddy clicked a few buttons on her computer and smiled, “and would you look at that, your clinic duty starts in ten minutes.” For the first time in months House didn’t whine or complain, instead headed straight for the door and turned in the direction of the clinic.
“He has three ex wives you know.” “Really?” The woman laughed, flicking over the next page in her file, “that’s extremely impressive for a nine year old. I’ll let his mother know.” “Hilarious. Wilson, not little Timmy in there.” She paused, narrowing her eyes at him. “I’m not sure what that has to do with me, or this patient, but I’ll keep it in mind… unless you really were thinking about that two for one offer? Or calling dibs.” She didn’t wait for his response, slipping into exam room two and closing the door. House smiled to himself, picking a random file from the stack. This was going to be fun. Each time he bumped into her while collecting files he asked progressively more personal questions, about her, about her intentions with the oncologist, about her medical history, or just things to get a rise out of her. After his last patient she was just stood by the desk waiting for him, expectantly. “You get one more question.” “So, how many doctors in this hospital have you slept with?” She tapped her finger against her chin, “three. Why, you want to make it four? So you know my family history, how many doctors I’ve slept with, how many times I’ve spoken to your boyfriend this month, and yet you never asked my name. Have fun with that Sherlock.” “Oh please, your name is up there on the clinic rota,” he grumbled, gesturing to the board behind him, “who wastes a question on useless stuff like that?” She just laughed and walked off, throwing a wave over her shoulder as she disappeared through the doors. House, still a little peeved he couldn’t get to her, turned to study the clinic rota. Next to his name, in shiny black letters, ‘Dr. Smith’. Great, just great.
House threw open the door to his office, slightly disappointed that no one on the team jumped any more. “You two, go run a PET scan on the patient's brain. And you,” he gestured his cane at Cameron, “go find me Dr. Smith, tell her I need a consult in Wilson’s office.” “Why would we run-” “Are you going to give me a clue on-” “Out. Daddy needs time to think.” The three stared dumbly at him as he made his way back towards the door. “Go on kiddies, scram.” Sighing the team set off for their different jobs, Cameron muttering to herself about how many Dr Smith’s there must be in this hospital. House headed in the other direction, still thinking, until he stopped outside Wilson’s door. Rapping his cane against the wood three times he pushed open the door and walked in. “What are you up to?” “I believe that’s usually my line. Hello House.” The older man made a childish noise and dropped himself on the office sofa, “with this Dr Smith. Did you know she’s slept with three Doctors in this hospital? I mean, I can’t blame them, that ass is amazing-” “You’re a pig. And what I’m doing is working…” Wilson hummed, staring at his papers for a few moments before dropping them on the desk, “how do you know how many doctors she’s slept with?” “Apparently we share clinic hours. So, you’re trying to be the fourth or what?” “No, no, we are not doing this. Since when do you do your clinic hours?” “Since there was something interesting in there.” House smirked, “so you are trying to be number four?” “House,” Wilson frowned at his friend, tone hardening slightly, “I am not answering that question.” “So I can be number four? Sweet, wonder if she meant it about that two for one deal. Think Cuddy would be in?” “No and no.” “So you are interested in her,” House grinned, “Wilson’s got a girlfriend!” “Men and Women can be friends, even if the woman in question has an amazing ass,” Wilson sighed “you happy now?” “Ecstatic. What about you?” Wilson’s head whipped towards the door, where Dr Smith was leaning against the doorframe. “I think I could hear a few more compliments. You wanted me?” “Yeah, my place about 8?” She chuckled and shook her head at the diagnostician. “Still not the best offer in the room, Cameron said you wanted a consult?” “Yeah, got a patient suffering from a heartbreaking lack of sex.” He grumbled. “Hire a hooker. Or sweet talk James really nice. Now, is there a real issue or can I go back to my day job?” She glanced between the two, one eyebrow raised. “I do have a patient with hallucinations, hearing voices, the whole shebang. He’s 39.” She hummed, sitting on the couch beside House. “This is new?” “Yep.” “Very late onset for schizophrenia, personally I’d be asking the oncologist not the psych.” “Tumour is a possibility.” Wilson agreed, wandering over to the couch as well. “Great, good thing I asked them to scan his brain.” House sighed, pushing himself to his feet. After he left the woman smiled at Wilson, “so, you want to get a coffee and go over that case?” “I’d love to.”
“So my ass is amazing huh?” Dr. Smith grinned, grin only widening as she watched the oncologist splutter, his face turning red. “I can’t believe House did that to me.” “Oh I can, Cameron went to like eight Dr Smith’s before she got to me, and so do you. But that’s not an answer Dr Wilson.” Wilson sighed, staring hard at the spill now on the table. “I was just winding House up.” She hummed, taking a careful sip of her coffee. “Well that’s a shame, ‘cause now I can’t say the same thing back without getting written up for harassment.” More of the coffee splashed onto the table, “you… what?” “I’m not blind.” Wilson just stared blankly at her, a pink flush sitting prettily across his cheeks. “But you’re… you know I’m a decade older than you right?” “You know I’m too old to care right?” She stared him down, though her lips still turned up at the corners ever so slightly. “You can say no, I got over being offended by that back in college.” “Well that has to be a lie. It’s not that I want to say no-” “So, Thursday night? I finish at 7.” Wilson could only watch, stunned, as she downed the rest of her coffee and walked off.
“There’s something wrong with her, and I’m going to find it,” House grumbled as he limped back into the office, throwing his badge onto the table, “one of you go pretend to be me in the clinic, I’m busy.” “You stole another doctor's personal file?” Cameron gaped. “I’m not even surprised.” Foreman sighed. House made shoo-ing motions as he sat behind his desk, starting to flip through the file. Less than an hour later he was slamming the file back down on Wilson’s desk. “She’s broken, thats why you want her.” “Ah yes, I definitely can’t like a gorgeous woman because she’s gorgeous.” His eyes flicked to the file and back to the computer, “of course you stole her notes. I’m disappointed but not surprised.” “She has depression.” House snapped. “That makes two of us.” “She can’t have kids.” “Ah yes, because my plan was to knock her up on the first date.” House narrowed his eyes. “You’re taking her on a date.” Wilson’s retort was interrupted by a knock on the door, followed by the person they’d just been discussing poking her head inside. “Bad time?” “No, it’s fine.” Wilson hummed, smiling softly. “You need me?” “Both of you actually,” her eyes drifted over the file on the desk, “you know, I’m not morally opposed to punching a cripple when they deserve it. You want copies of all my nudes too?” House grinned. “Yes.” “Ask James for them later, there’s a weird case in the clinic.” She grinned, nodding towards the door. “And since you have enough free time on your hands to steal my notes, you have enough free time to come look at this.” “You have nudes already?” Wilson frowned. “No?” “Not yet, hence the later. Keep up House.” As she walked off the two men glanced at each other, Wilson frowning at his best friends wicked grin. This was going to be a nightmare.
Thursday evening finally rolled around and the two doctors found themselves seated at a pretty nice restaurant, glasses of wine beside their plates and soft piano music trickling through the air. The woman smiled, leaning forwards slightly towards her date. “You know he followed us right?” She chuckled, nodding her head slightly. “Two tables over. You sure I’m not interrupting something between you two?” “Only him monopolising all my free time.” Wilson groaned, rubbing his temples. “I’m sorry about him.” “Don’t be, if I didn’t think I could handle him I wouldn’t be here. You don’t work at Princeton Plainsboro for years without knowing all about Gregory House.” She laughed. “Besides, he’s good fun to mess with.” “I’m glad,” Wilson smiled softly, “not that he’s messing with you, just that you don’t mind.” She gently rested her hand over his. “I finally managed to get you out on a date, a grumpy diagnostician with a fixation is not ruining this for me.” “Finally… you flatter me.” She shrugged, “I don’t really flatter people, but if it's working then I’m happy-” she sipped from her wine “-I’d be even happier if you agreed to come to my place and try some of my wines after this. I have quite the collection.” He blushed prettily, taking another sip of his own drink before nodding. “I. I think I would like that.” She smiled, taking another bite of her pasta. Wilson did the same, smiling back at her. Once their plates were empty and the last of the wine had disappeared she reached out and offered him her hand. As they walked past the table where House was sat she bent down and murmured into his ear ‘there are easier ways to get a threesome’ before walking out of the restaurant hand in hand with the oncologist. “I may have overexaggerated how good my wine collection is.” “I may not have really cared about the wine.” She laughed, pulling him to a stop so she could lean up and press her lips into his. “Good. My apartment is just around the corner, and I’m running low on patience.” If they both sped up their steps a little, and if they ended up pressed against each other outside her door too impatient to wait just a moment longer for the door to be opened, then there was no one there to judge them.
The next morning she awoke to the chirping of an alarm and the warmth of a body curled around her own. Shifting slightly she smiled to see him still there, floppy hair a mess and brow furrowed slightly as the alarm broke through the last remnants of sleep. “You’re still here.” She murmured, fingers tracing his jaw. “You didn’t think I would be?” He murmured back, eyes still closed as he tried to bury his face against her shoulder. “I’m not necessarily used to it, but I’m glad.” Slowly she rolled over fully, pressing the front of her body against his and feeling him pressing back against her. “Mmmh, think we can get away with being late?” His eyes cracked open and he smiled, pressing his lips against hers softly. “If you’re as good as you were last night we won’t be.” Grinning wickedly she rolled him over onto his back, her hips straddling his. “Dr Wilson, you know all the right things to say.” “James. Call me James.”

My current top 15 Anime and why
Because why the fuck not. I'm doing top 15 so that I have some variety behind it. Otherwise I would just be gushing non stop XD
Apparently numbers go big now - AND THEY GO SMALLER IF YOU TRY TO TYPE IN THE SAME LINE AS THEM???
comparison:
15
15 -
DA HECK????
(Edit: I was going to colour all the numbers because I wanted a rainbow. WHY THE FUCK FOR THEY CHANGE TO SMALL WHEN YOU COLOUR THEM??????)
Guess the titles of the anime get a small heading. Anyways. Onto the actual list!
15
Technoroid OVERMIND
Ayo. Starting out with a really random one. So if anyone were to look at my Anilist then they might be a bit confused. I decided I'd keep movies out of here as well as anything I haven't specifically finished. Also takt op. Destiny needs a re evaluation.
Anyways. This premise is so sick and I feel like they managed it really well. The characters were all really fun and the music was fantastic which is honestly the most important thing about Idol shows. I really like idol shows but often struggle with the stupid drama in them that just leads to seasons upon seasons that didn't need to happen or wouldn't actually happen.
In this they're just androids. The fantasy twist works so well for the genre and I honestly don't know why it isn't done more often. This way they can bullshit the drama and it actually makes sense.
Honestly my favourite character was Kite. He was great and his voice always gave me shivers. Especially his piece in the closing. Damn.
I don't want to go into full reviews with this, rather just gushing about things I like and stuff. I really don't think this got the recognition it deserves - probably because of it's deviation from the norm - but it would be cool to get some sort of sequel.
(Edit: There's a manga releasing apparently. Imma check that out.)
14
UniteUp!
Continuing on with the trend of idol animes apparently. UniteUp! was so good. As I mentioned in my Reviews while I watch of the show, it felt so grounded and real that other idol shows just don't seem to capture. These were all real people with real problems dealing with real life.
I also like how we had such a large cast of characters but it never really felt overwhelming as they focused on group dynamics and specific individuals rather than trying to cram every single person into their own arcs.
Once again the music was fantastic and by god was this show pretty gay. Honestly I don't know what the sentiments of others are, but the Anela duo definitely weren't straight and neither were Akira and Daiki. That bath scene says it all.
Anyways. If you want a fun time with a really solid idol anime, please check it out. I saw earlier that we're getting a season two soon. I am so looking forward to it.
13
Trigun Stampede
Damn! I don't even know what to really say about this one. The visuals are absolutely stunning - there is no doubt about that. The score and the characters are excellent. And how dare they leave us on that cliff hanger.
I have absolutely no history with this story and still need to watch and read the originally but I am really looking forward to seeing how the story adapts between the three.
You can ask my partner. I've already said we're watching everything trigun related as soon as we are done with our current show.
I'm really looking forward to season two. And especially seeing how this all pans out. Apparently there will be tears according to the fandom. Concern.
12
Re-main
Damn this show came out of nowhere for me. I watched it quite awhile ago and have been meaning to rewatch it again.
The premise is definitely a sports anime but honestly so different. All because of one thing. The fact that he is an amnesiac is such a fascinating concept to work with - especially with how he was before (trying not to spoil - can't remember when this comes up in the anime)
And then the ending?? Damn. They seriously set up that cliff hanger and I really hope this show gets a sequel.
I really can't say too much about it without giving away some spoilers but damn does it change up the formula and do it so fucking well.
11
Given
Given is great. Such a pure but heartbreaking portrayal of love on one side with such conflicting but also nurturing views on the other. Having the different realtionships throughout this is really well done how they all bounce off of each other. Especially when they entertwine it with the music.
As it is said. That is how they communicate - through the music.
I'm busy catching up with the manga and really hope the anime continues with it.
Also the fucking is just fucking gorgeous. It has no write to hit you that hard.
Also - something else that shouldn't be allowed to hit you that hard. Damn Mafuyu has had a difficult past. We love how he learns to heal and grow with Uenoyama at his side.
Anyways, moving on.
10
Bakuten!!
Okay. Who said a sports anime could be this pretty.
I love the art style and the music throughout all of this. I love the portayal and the evolution of these character - seriously all their arcs are great. The interactions of the team is so tangible and real.
I watch a lot of sports anime and I often struggle with some of the drama used within the sports - it feels like the only thing that ever fuels the story is the matches. Whereas in Bakuten - the character seriously fuel the story. You can understand their motivations much more than just - I want to play this sport and be the best!
I also feel like they really captured everything really well in the movie. The whole concept of wanting to sore is great and really well executed.
I also love the interactions they have with the other team. It's not just a once off competition or practice match that they face each other. We actually get tangible characters for the whole team and see how much they two teams are similar to one another. It's a very healthy rivalry that isn't normally this expanded on in sports anime.
9
Sasaki and Miyano
Yesssssss. These two are just absolutely amazing. Their whole story arc and relationship is just tooth rottingly sweet. They bounce off of each other so well.
And I love the fact of how slow the actual story is. They meet at the start of Miyanos first year (from what I know - I still need to read the novels) and sasaki's second and they only end up confessing just before graduation happens. It really plays out well and is so healthy.
There is no problematic elements like in so many BL stories which is such a breath of fresh air. And the fact that sasaki is very specific about making sure to maintain boundaries to ensure that miyano is comfortable is also excellent.
On a slightly different note - I still need to see the Hirano and Kagiura movie. Been dying to watch it. I've been keeping up to date with both manga and both of these stories are amazing. I love the dichotomy of the two stories and how they are coming to their own realisations of their feelings in honestly very different ways.
I also recently watched the dub of the anime due to some videos on tiktok. Fucking hell it is absolutely hilarious. Kellen Goff as Sasaki has no reason for being that good. Seriously. Damn.
8
Link Click
On a completely different note. Damn this one makes you questions your own morals and reality as you know it.
I really don't want to get into this one much as I do believe watching it blind is the best way to go.
The art style is fantastic and that opening hits like a truck it is so good. The characters just click (pun not intended) and you just understand their motivations and don't know which side to side with most of the time. It brings about such high moral dilemmas that will seriously mess with your brain sometimes and there is one episode that will likely make you cry.
Anyways. Season 2 has just started airing and I am so ready for it.
7
Buddy Daddies
Why did a show about two queer platonic dudes who adopt a child while beings assassins hit so damn hard.
The show jumps between episodes with backstory and episodes with them just being good dads and it is balanced so well. This anime won't end up getting a sequel most likely with how it ended but damn I wouldn't say no to one.
Rei is my favourite character and I relate to him far too much. His interactions with the world are so fascinating and his whole arc with Miri is honestly some of the best media I've seen.
I absolutely loved watching this show weekly and it always brightened up my day when I realised a new episode would be up.
If you would like further thoughts on this one then check the Reviews while I watch on it for more chaos.
6
No Game No Life
So. This was the first ever anime that I ever watched. It was a random recomendation from a friend. Look at where we are today.
This show is honestly just so fun. The characters are silly and the whole plot is just absolute chaos. I really enjoy the games aspect and how it was all incorporated into the world.
I can't even really say much about it. It is just a guilty pleasure of mine and will always hold a special place in my heart.
Also. Please can it just get a second season already.
5
Assassination Classroom
So. Unlike everything else on the list - this one I only finished really recently. My partner and I were watching it together. And to put it out there straight away. I cried. That ending was far too emotional.
I really enjoyed the humour throughout the whole thing as well as the constant underlying dread of the whole situation.
They also really played out Koro-senseis backstory really well. The teasing to it was excellent. I must say though that one of the twists seriously came out of left field. Like damn.
I've just recently bought the boxset and am reading through the manga. Once again. It's absolutely amazing.
Also the openings of them all jumping are absolutely fucking hilarious and you can't tell me otherwise.
If you want to know what officially sold me on the show was just in the first episode. (Note we watched in dub)
Tumblr media
Don't ask me why but I found this to be the most hilarious thing ever. The absurdity and the line delivery was magnificent. I annoy my partner by quoting it atleast once a day.
4
Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan
Speaking of comedies. This show has no right to be this good. The absudist dead pan comedy in the middle of whats meant to be a TV show is such a random premise but just works so well.
Due to the nature of the show, the characters are extremely relateable. I especially love Kumatani and Kikaku.
If your on the same side of anime tiktok that I am then you have definitely seen/heard snippets of the dub.
I think this was the first anime that I originally watched in sub and then tried it in dub and actually enjoyed it. (I often find that whatever I originally watched it in is the only one I can watch it in - it's very difficult for me to change it)
The voice acting on both sides just works perfectly for the show. And that final episode and how they did it was the best thing ever.
Please just give it a try.
3
Angel Beats
Okay. Time for a hard hitter. This comedy like assassintaion classroom is fucking excellent but will make you cry, like damn.
In complete and utter contrast to No game no life, this was the second anime I had ever watched. I had found a video that gave some suggestions and thought I would give this one a try. When I say it destoryed me, I mean it literally. I constantly think about the end of this and I absolutely love revisiting it.
The twist and turns along the way are fascinating and I love how each one alters the characters and the narrative. Each of the characters feel unique - even the lesser developed side characters - with fascinating and complex backstories.
The whole thing just makes you question your own place in life.
2
Moriarty the Patriot
Another one I just randomly tried because I saw a video on tiktok. The first episode immediately pulled me in. I thought it was just going to be some simple detective story (At the time I didn't know much about Sherlock Holmes and who Moriaty was so I didn't have any of that to guide me into this story.) But nope.
I keep saying this but in this one I really mean it. The characters are built so well. The dichotomy between William and Sherlock - as the fandom would probably agree - is just amazing. How they bounce off of each other - i don't even know how to really descirbe it.
Honestly just go watch it.
And if you enjoyed the anime - please go check out the manga too. If the anime was done well - then the manga is done to lamost perfection.
This show was what got me into reading and then eventually buying manga. I now have every single one that is out.
1
Yuri!!! on ICE
Did I make the title gay? Yes.
Okayyyyy. This is just going to be me going on about how much I love this show. Bare with me.
So I was in an anime watching slump just before I picked up this show. I had been seeing some videos popping up talking about it and decided to give it a try (this was in 2020)
I immediately fell in love with this show. Literally everything about it. I ended up rewatching it three times over the course of a week. It got to a point where I was so upset that there wasn't more content for it that I just cried for half a day. (Ask my partner - it was chaos)
This show is the reason I now read fanfiction - all because I found a way to technically have more content for it.
This show holds such an important place in my heart that I sincerely cannot express it properly.
If you've never watched it - go give it a try. It would mean a lot - and hopefully one day we might get a season two.
----
Thanks for reading, if you managed to get to this point. I find it interesting how my explanations managed to slowly get shorter throughout the list as I just started becoming more emotional than factual.
I hope you enjoyed it and maybe grabbed a recommendation or two. If you'd like to know more or hear me ramble on more about anything in particular then please let me know.

Dev's (C)Leo Biases,
Or,
A Comprehensive History of How Leonidas Became Nearly Everyone's Object of Thirst
So, among the Dragalia Lost team, it was rather well known that they admitted to a strong Cleo bias.
It's pretty easy to see, in anything from Cleo's early spate of alts, like Dragonyule and Summer in quick succession, to the utterly random unique outfits they flaunted in ch.9 that you can just tell they drew for funsies but really liked them and wanted to put them in the game despite it serving no real purpose...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dev team just really, really loved Cleo and drawing her. But after they apparently used up their Cleo allowance to make Gala Cleo probably the single strongest character in the game at the time, they cooled it down a bit.
However, as much as they were apparently thirsting over Cleo, I would joke that somewhere along the way, some part of the dev team, feeling desperate now that the yearly Cleo Allowance was running dry as they prepared to release Gala Cleo, decided to find a new fixation to quench their addiction.
And since Cleo was off-limits, they turned to the next best thing: crossing out the C in Cleo to find their newest substitute Dev Thirst character.
That's right, we're talking about the one and only Leonidas.
Leonidas had kinda just melded into the background with the rest of the siblings at this point to my observations. Sure, he was a campaign antagonist. People weren't particularly clamoring for him in particular over the other siblings, though. Honestly, I'd wager Emile was more popular at this stage, even in a 'love to hate' sense, just because we'd already seen him so much.
But then, it started. Whether it was art like this being posted on their twitter just a few scant months before G!Cleo's debut...
Tumblr media
...They just seemed to have a certain edge in artworks featuring Mr. Curry in a way to make one squint and tilt your head sideways.
For instance:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's one of those cases where you just kinda get a feeling the artist(s) found x attractive in a way that simultaneously still can give you a moment of self-doubt if that's not just you projecting because there's no blatantly obvious signs, you know? Whether it's something about the posing, or angles, whatever it is, I got this air increasingly whenever they put out any Leonidas art.
Thankfully, they decided to put me out of my misery and just flat out make what's likely the single most suggestive wyrmprint (or honestly art piece in general since Dragalia was thankfully very very very tame) starring none other than, you guessed it, Leonidas.
Tumblr media
(Secret Cygames/Nintendo conversation, probably: "As you can see, it's vitally important that we draw this character in a speedo with sparkles around him." Nintendo: "...I'll allow it. This time.")
Even if he puts on some more clothes in the refined version, we're still back to that air I mentioned, as the shot focuses almost entirely on him instead of the wildly popular Chelle or his pet panther (which, yes, seemed to be an actual pet of his):
Tumblr media
Even the Ilia-damned funny chibi comics got in on this thirst train as it went on and made quite possibly the raunchiest joke in the entire 400+ comic run featuring Leonidas, even if the exact same joke didn't make the translation overseas, however they tried. You can see a brief breakdown of that in THIS post.
Not content to restrict it to art and comics, Leonidas also dropped this line that is permanently engraved into my mind with just how shocking it was to see anything of this caliber in Dragalia, in his baby brother's story to boot!
Tumblr media
At this point, I could no longer deny it: the devs and artists had collectively acquired a new fixation to satiate their once insatiable Cleo appetite in the form of Mr. Currymeister. (Don't worry about Emile there, he's just drowning, he does that all the time in waist-high water)
Tumblr media
And this attitude even extends to in-universe, too! People increasingly fawned over the first prince, who very much was filling in the role of 'this prince you know vs. his hotter and more competent elder brother', as virtually represented by my expert skills in Microsoft Paint artistry as such:
Tumblr media
Naturally, there was only so much time before the people IRL could succumb to Leonidas Fever (and no, this time we're not talking about all the people who were so devoted to this dude to effectively set themselves into a fatal, firey, steroid-filled death!) at this unrelenting onslaught.
It was hard not to see comments such as these that started pouring in (and yes, all of these were just about Leonidas exclusively):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I'll attribute the misspelling to being overcome with Leonidas Fever, a grave illness indeed!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Another serious symptom: the decline of any self-preservation instinct around Leonidas, who is indeed Very Dangerous and Will Kill You!)
Tumblr media
Ahem. You get the picture. Thus concludes the slow, insidious buildup from just another sibling for Euden to probably commit a whoopsie-daisy fratricide in the future to one of the fandom's favorite menaces, all carefully plotted-out by the collective efforts of devs who were the first to succumb to the sickness...Right?
This concludes my professional historical report on this very serious issue that I suspect lingers to this day. The Fever has but been put into remission; it has not faded yet.
Extra:
So a long time ago I commented that some of the royal family seemed to have pointier teeth than normal, which I speculated because they deliberated giving a bit more 'draconic' traits to define dragonblood, and I didn't realize how pervasive this was until I saw Emile's model there. Look at his fang!
Tumblr media
...
...How did I forget the weapon skin of Leo's gun is additionally named "Royal Dominator"?

howdy em, any advice for focusing on studies instead of my hobbies? I love my fandom blurbs so much but sometimes it’s to my downfall xp
babes i appreciate your high opinion of me but i am SO not the bitch to ask. i'm literally terrible at time management and focusing on boring shit FKVJDJD but here's some stuff that sorta works for me. sorta.
incorporate your interests into your schoolwork whenever possible. obviously this is gonna be a task of varying difficulty depending on the assignment and what you're studying, but if you Can write your paper about stranger things or create a fun visual project in photoshop to display your data or whatever, you're gonna be more motivated to work.
sorta on that note you know that thing where you read a fanfic and it's like so incredibly obvious that the author works in a specific field or has expertise with a specific thing? you could be that author. if you can't incorporate your interests into your work, try incorporating your work into your interests! idk about you but i definitely have more fun and feel more motivated when i'm researching for a fic than i do when i'm just doing a random assigned reading. as you study, you might keep a list in the back of your mind of ways that this could potentially benefit a future fic or whatever to keep you engaged.
i personally once made a stranger things gifset to explain the history of color in film to procrastinate studying for my film history final and guess what! i was actually just studying for my film history final! in a weird ass nerd way!!
be flexible with your studies. i typically write at least 50% of any given assignment on my phone, because i'll get ideas at random moments or seize small pieces of downtime throughout the day to get work done. it can be helpful to designate certain times and spaces for schoolwork, but in my own personal experience, sometimes that can make the whole thing feel much more intimidating, and i won't get any more work done than i would have while typing on my phone in bed. i also find that restricting schoolwork to a specific time/place makes me view it as more of an obligation, when the truth is that i love what i study! i love to learn! so, i try to treat my studies as a hobby whenever possible. my fic and paper writing processes are nearly identical, and i think that helps in easing some of the pressure and dread that might accompany the thought of Writing A Paper.
this one is boring but just. reward yourself when you do focus on your studies! when i used to pull late nights in undergrad to get my work done on time, i would often take a trip to sonic when i was around halfway through with my work, for both a brain reset and a little reward. the first time i did it, i just didn't have any food for dinner in my apartment, but it quickly became a ritual that made me look forward to getting work done.
study in public when possible. this one sounds so stupid but literally the power of knowing that anybody around you in the starbucks or library or whatever could see you on tumblr/ao3/etc is NOT to be underestimated! i am a very insecure and self conscious person and i use this to my advantage. would you rather that cool-looking girl at the table next to you see you thoughtfully annotating marx or scrolling aimlessly through ao3? think about it.
ok that's like most of it i guess! but in all honestly i am still figuring it out myself. i think the key is just to keep on trying. it takes time to figure out what works for you and what doesn't, and there are gonna be times when you screw up and make a poor choice that backfires. instead of thinking about how much you suck, or writing it off entirely, look at these instances as opportunities to learn and consider how you might set yourself up to make better choices in the future.
anyway i'll get off my high horse and shut up now LMAO thank you for like thinking i am smart enough to come to with such a question. good luck!

Week 5: Groceries, Madrid Musts, and Barcelona
The thing no one tells you about moving to a different country is that grocery shopping is exhausting. There are no brands you recognize, everything’s in different packaging, and even if you know the language, your food vocab probably isn’t extensive enough to know the difference between different types of milks or oils. Now in my fourth week of grocery shopping here. I thought I had the hang of things, but it still takes me like an hour to get two weeks worth of groceries. I have to walk around and figure out where what I need is, then sift through the twenty different options of the same thing by turning each item over and pretending that I understand the ingredients list enough to help me make a decision. I guess one perk of not knowing anything about the grocery store is that you get to discover new foods. Back home, my family’s always gotten the same bread, milk, eggs my whole life. So I have no idea if there’s a better brand out there. But here, I get to pick and explore. Last week, when buying cheese for sandwiches, I picked a random one and oh my gosh it’s the best cheese I ever had. Maybe when I get home, I’ll start being more adventurous with my grocery shopping. But yeah, mini rant over, and to summarize, if you’re going abroad and reading this, get mentally prepared to go grocery shopping.
In other news, this week, I went to see the sunset at Templo de Debod and also went to see Museo Sorolla. Both are musts in Madrid. Templo de Debod is an Egyptian temple that was moved to Madrid in order to be preserved. It’s a super cool piece of Egyptian history with a small museum inside, and it’s on top of a hill, so it makes for one of the most popular sunset spots. I really enjoyed watching the sunset here this week and will definitely be back!
Tumblr media
Even if you’re someone who doesn’t quite enjoy the big art museums (like the Prado), I can almost guarantee that Museo Sorolla will still be enjoyable. Joaquin Sorolla is a famous Spanish Impressionism-esque painter. His house in Madrid is turned into a museum, so you get to walk through his house while looking at his original paintings, furniture, gardens, etc. It really feels like more of a tour through someone’s life than an art museum. And it’s a small museum, so you can finish in about an hour, or two with the audio guide (which I loved so much and definitely recommend). I loved the gardens out front and how beautifully everything was preserved in the house. It really is a lesser known gem in Madrid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another rather unconventional must in my opinion is Flying Tiger. Flying Tiger is a Danish chain of stores that sell things I can only describe as “things you didn’t know you needed until you see them”. I think it’s pretty aptly named because you’ve probably never thought of a flying tiger before, but now that I’ve said it- how cool would a flying tiger be? That’s exactly what everything in the store is like. Little knickknacks that you don’t really need, but are so interesting you’ll just need to have it. One of my favorite things were these little balloon clips that let you reuse the balloon instead of tying it. Like how cool is that??? It’s a dangerous shop to go into for sure, and you’ll probably end up buying something. But embrace it and go visit Flying Tiger for yourself.
Tumblr media
This weekend, I took a quick trip to Barcelona. Having already been there with my family back in 2019, I took the time to walk around, explore the more artsy districts, re-visit the Sagrada Familia since it’s just that beautiful, and went to the flea market. We also went to the Bunkers of Carmel which had gorgeous 360° views of the city. I remember liking Barcelona better than Madrid when I first visited with my family, but now that I’ve been living in Madrid for almost a month, going to Barcelona has made me realize how much I appreciate Madrid. Both are beautiful cities, but there’s just something about the liveliness and deep history and culture in Madrid that’s unmatched.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So…you probably noticed there’s no drawing of the week today. Basically, I got my first Fluid Dynamics homework assigned and the time I would’ve spent drawing was spent on that. But I’m going to go ahead and say maybe there’ll be two drawings next week.
You’ll have to wait and see :)

ok i played the new story update in hsr and here are my thoughts
warning: it's kinda negative
first things first: yeah i know this isn't the end of the xianzhou story, there are six ships after all and i guess luofu is supposed to be like the opening act to a bigger conflict with the aeons but m a n the execution was not good
the 1.3 story is more like an epilogue, which is fine, but it really should have been added to the previous patch. tbh the luofu story didn't need to be stretched over three patches with its overall length
i feel like everything went wrong when they decided to make the dan shu quests optional instead. i feel like they had to scrap a lot of stuff because of that? i agree that the dan shu quests felt out of place but they could have moved it around instead of just cutting them out of the main storyline. It's fully voiced after all and it has interesting lore
the problem is that the writers wanted to incorporate so many concepts but didn't want to (or can't) increase the length of the story. There are so much stuff going on like the conflict between Lan and Yaoshi, the bad side to immortality, the vidyadhara politics, the stellaron and the lord ravager, the sanctus medicus, dan heng & dan feng, dan heng and blade, the stellaron hunters, the high-cloud quintet, luocha, but all of these things only get brief moments of spotlight before we move on to something else. it makes everything feel kind of inconsequential and confusing
Especially the dan heng il thing which really should have been the main point of the story. his transformation is cool but it also feels random. the opening cutscene with blade also comes off as baffling in retrospect bc he didn't really do or explain anything??
i think they tried to rectify this by making the companion quests (like yanqing's and dhil's) basically main quests but they only raise more questions that may or may not get a definite answer. also these quests are optional
the ending is so abrupt, but they still try to tease continuations (see: jingliu and luocha cutscene at the end) even though we're leaving?? and who knows when these threads will get picked up again
Another problem i have: the vagueness of the lore and story. We finally know what dan feng's sin is...kind of. We maybe kind of know what happened to baiheng. tingyun's dead...or is she??? the writers love teasing resolutions instead of giving them, and it's honestly annoying. And im saying this as a genshin lore fan who loves finding random readables and trying to piece together what happened
The high-cloud quintet: ok this might be an unpopular opinion but i don't really care about them. maybe it's just my inherent dislike for the trope of "super elite group full of hot people who have a lot of history with each other and they feel sad about it :(" but they are just not doing anything for me right now. I like them all individually but as a group? meh. Part of the problem is that their lore is scattered all over the place and is very vague, so you really have to read between the lines and speculate in order to get their story, which requires a certain amount of investment from the start. i repeat that im a genshin lore player, but the thing about genshin lore is that it's not needed to understand the main story most of the time. Important stuff about the characters, on the other hand? tbh i care way more about spina di rosula trio or the narzissenkreuz people, and most of those people are npcs (faceless even)
honestly high-cloud quintet deserved a world quest chain or something instead of just (a very nice) animated short. as it is now i don't know why we would ever revisit them in the future considering dan heng doesn't want anything to do with them. maybe a rematch with blade?
tldr xianzhou had a lot of cool ideas but the execution was bad. oh well at least it had jing yuan

just woke up from sleeping for 11 hours, during which time I had a dream about being involved in a massive worldwide scavenger hunt that was apparently a yearly event. Rough timeline of events:
- met a guy at... some kind of cafe on a mountain? Who ran a solar power plant nearby. Discussed art with him and apparently he was a former animator. Organized a figure drawing session together. Briefly discussed another solar plant nearby called "The Garden Of Eden" ???
- figure drawing session located in some kind of dollhouse miniatures market. Lots of tiny furniture, model was a lady I know IRL weirdly. She had like a Victorian dress on it was pretty cool
-accompanying a lawyer to a cafe in some kind of weird alternate version of the current town I live in. Cafe was in an area with a bunch of doctors offices and stuff. Owner of the cafe had a very determined opinion that a man who had lived above the cafe was innocent of a murder he'd been accused of. Cafe owner had a big family including twin great grsnddaughters who were dressed as horror movie characters (they were like 6) Ate a chocolate pastry from this cafe, then helped with cleaning dishes. Cafe owner's big family helped with cleaning also. Everyone there got a text message stating that they were now scavenger hunt participants. I team up with the granddaughter of the cafe owner, a girl a bit younger than me.
- interlude about an Argentinian art collective whose street performance art had gotten co opted by Anonymous
-scavenger hunt time! Was in some location that was like..... a surreal dream version of New York? I think the cafe was still there but all the buildings around it had changed. There was one that had a bunch of interesting architectural tricks to make it seem super tall, but was currently under renovation, that we had to take a bunch of photos if for the scavenger hunt. There was also an old sign factory
- we had these lanyard bracelets where a section would light up whenever we found something, ours were green I guess we were on the green team?
- went through a shortcut tunnel from a team meeting to somewhere called "Oranger street" that looked vaguely French
- somehow ended up at a job interview at a disney park imagineering workshop, comparing a bunch of apparently randomized wood pieces. Found "one of Disney's kids" named Happy who was super old but very affable, talked with him about animation history. The wood pieces thing got revised to them cutting a big chunk of wood into a bunch of sticks and we had to try to put it back together in order to gain access to "the private Manatee room". I figured out how to get that access without winning the challenge
and that's where I woke up. WEIRD ONE

ALRIGHT ON IT UHHH *speedily starts playing my emo music for emo focus*
hat game (do keep in mind some of this info is either right off the top of my head or from an unfinished fanfic that ihaveng touched in months so it might be a little wonk, also cw for suicide):
The royal family of Subcon. We know em. We love the one guy that got the worst out of it (poor prince). They have a long history of mental illness, but it seems to affect the women of the family worse. Of course, Vanessa got that shit too, but from her dad instead of her mom (her mom is way too nice for her own good bc of her own mother). Along with the history of mental illness, they also have a history of. Ahem. Murdering their husbands. So yeah, princess bitchface also killed her boy. Sucks for him but now I have TWO hot ghost boyfriends so that slays ig /j
SPEAKING OF THE ROYAL FAMILY, another character who is very very important to the main lore of the actual game is actually related to them. I’m not going to say who though. You have to guess. Or wait for me to write it somewhere. All I’m gonna say is: keep watch for the last name Niagoran.
As I said in Alex’s info, he only realized he had a crush on Moon after they both passed, but even worse? Moon was still in The Horizon at the time. He only realized his gayness when it had been 6 years after the kingdom’s downfall, and Moon was stuck in The Horizon for almost 200 years. Poor dudes. They’re together now, though, bc i h8 bad endings
More Alex angst bc i said so: he offed himself when he found out the prince was dead. That’s where the mark on his neck came from. It’s a soul mark of rope burn.
Typically I’d be writing SO MUCH MORE angst, but I’ve cried enough this week so here’s random shit I wanna talk about related to this au:
Moon, Chrome, and Alex have officially adopted Theophania (or mustache girl)!!!! Moon calls her “Princess Tiff” bc of his royal heritage, and she says it’s weird, but it actually makes her super happy bc she’s. Had a pretty shit life. I mean, no normal teenage girl would attempt planetary genocide.
Chrome introduced Moon and Alex to kirby, and Moon has been absolutely obsessed with it ever since. He WILL explain the entire lore to you if you let him (you should definitely do that btw). Chrome also introduced them to various other things, like fnaf, minecraft, and pretty much anything nintendo. Also emo music, because a lot Chrome’s friends never left their hs emo phase. Alex likes it a lot. Moon finds it kinda scary though. He prefers soft indie music, and classical stuff.
Hattie (or Moxxia) and bow (or Axxiori) are twin sisters, born on the planet of Zentruvia. It’s a couple thousand light years away from earth, and it’s home to a very highly advanced civilization. Time Pieces are created using materials that can (as far as they know) only be found on Zentruvia.
The huge Time Piece in Subcon is an actual Time Piece. Mox has no clue how or why it’s there, nor does Axxi. Moon is scared of it, Snatcher and Alex think it’s cool, and Chrome pretends it doesn’t exist to prevent existential crises.
Snatcher is a physical manifestation of the prince’s anger at Vanessa. He was a very, very kind individual, but deep down, all he wanted was revenge against the corrupted queen. That anger was so powerful that it manifested itself into a physical form, made purely of emotional matter. That’s why Snatcher is mad all the time—his emotions are the source of his power.
AND KIRBY STUFF:
So, you remember Blast Knight Hara? Well, I mentioned her by name for a specific reason. She’s a somewhat important character to this AU. Keep an eye out for stuff abt her.
Speaking of Hara, the friend she was using as support at the beginning of Taboo was not Galacta. It was one of the other heroes of yore. I know my wording made it seem like it was Gala she was holding onto, but it’s not him. He’s… a bit more than a friend to her. Heheh.
After Galacta’s crystallization, Hara personally spoke out and protested against his punishment. She said it was unfair, that he literally needed to use Soul Crystallization to stop Void, but the priestess didn’t listen. Hara was exiled two days later. Told to take her ship and blast off to the farthest corners of the universe so she “didn’t corrupt anyone else.” The Yonna and the High Priestess are very adamant about Soul Crystallization being horrible.
The Ykka are the gods of the Ancients’ religion, said to be all-powerful beings who built the universe itself. The Ykka are also believed to be the ones who bestowed magical powers unto the Ancients.
Hara had a son, only 2 weeks old by the time of her exile. He was taken from her before she was exiled so she didn’t “corrupt him,” and soon sent off in his own custom starship, built to train and raise him in his dreams. It’s a common practice when exiling parents of Star Warriors.
Galacta Knight is actually a direct creation of Void’s. In the lore, it’s stated that Void reincarnates themself into a physical form based off of gathered emotions. That’s what makes him so powerful; his direct relation to Void makes him incredibly overpowered, even for a Star Warrior (it’s pretty rare for a Star Warrior to be directly created by Void).
Morpho Knight is literally millions of years old, maybe even older that Void. They were created directly by Nebulis as the Kirby multiverse’s sole Grim Reaper, and have been doing their job for god knows how long. Eventually, though, there were too many people dying everywhere, so the Grim Reaper system thingy was created (that’s a WHOLE other can of worms that concerns the entire multiverse itself, so it’ll be posted in a separate Nebulis-centered lore thing), and the rest is history.
The people who captured Elfilis and Fiktra were Draconic. Discovera was run by a man who at first really just wanted to protect the world from calamity, but after running into Liz and Gen, his mindset completely changed. It was at this point that he became completely obsessed with power, and his soul was permanently corrupted.
Liz and Gen were both in captivity for 2,045+ years. The first 30 were during the experimental era, the next 15 were after the warp-experiment incident, and the rest was spent in complete solitude. Gen was asleep for most of it, about 3 years after Elfilis initially was split.
Liz was revived 3 times, technically 4 if you count the soul boss stuff in the true arena as a separate revival. First was their initial absorbing of the rat, second was in the ultimate cup, and third was… something I can’t explain here bc we’re not at that point in the story yet!!!! Hahhahahahahahgsgxgs it’ll be posted separately at some point
Ooo weee that’s all I can think of rn!!!! Finally my head is empty of all that stuff!!!!! Thank you for letting me lore dump and make room for new ideas @altblock-tm :}}}}}
enjoy ur food fren

"Keys to the Past: Embracing the Typewriter's Timeless Appeal"
In celebration of the National Arts Month, we, FAME (Future Animo Mentors and Educators) took a trip to the Ang Panublion Museum in Roxas City, Capiz. There, among all the cool stuff, I found something really interesting—the L.C. Smith and Brothers typewriter. It's super old, like from the early 1900s, and it's got this classic vibe to it.
Imagine this: back in the day, people didn't just want things to work; they wanted them to look good too. That's why this typewriter is not just functional, but it's also kind of like a piece of art. It's got all these fancy details and shiny keys that make it stand out. The museum folks think this particular typewriter could be from around 1915. And guess what? They say President Manuel A. Roxas might have used one like it to write his speeches. How cool is that? It's like I'm touching a piece of history!
Looking at it up close, you can tell it's not just some random machine. Every part looks like someone really cared about making it. It's not like the gadgets we have today, all sleek and boring. This thing has personality, with all its little scratches and marks from years of use. What stood out to me the most about the L.C. Smith and Brothers typewriter was how it still matters today, even though we're all about touchscreens and voice commands now. Using this old typewriter makes me remember a time when writing was something I could touch and feel. I think pressing those keys and hearing them clack was so satisfying; it will make me felt like I achieved something, which is kind of missing with digital stuff.
I knew I had to take a picture of it, just to remember it by. It's not every day you get to see something so old and cool. And it's not just about the history; it's about how it makes me feel. Seeing this typewriter reminds me of how far we've come and how important writing is to who we are. In our creative writing class, we're always looking for inspiration. And let me tell you, this typewriter is definitely inspiring. It's like it's whispering stories to me, urging me to put pen to paper or fingers to keys and create something of my own.
So yeah, to some people, this typewriter might just be an old relic gathering dust. But to me, it's a symbol of creativity, of resilience, and of the magic of writing. As I left the museum, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the chance to experience it; to touch a piece of history and let it spark my imagination.

Trying to remind myself that I'm so lucky
THIS IS JUST ME AFTER HAVING A VERY ROUGH FEW MONTHS REMINDING MYSELF THAT I DO LOVE ACADEMIA!!!!
Using this post to remind myself that I might be feeling miserable about it but I GET TO STUDY THE THING I LOVE FOR A DEGREE!??!!
1. I just posted a shit ton about PJO because the show ended on Tuesday but GUESS WHAT?! I still get to spend my time surrounded by Ancient Greek! The language credit I get to take for my classics major? Ancient Greek (HOW COOL IS THAT?!)
2. I Get to look at my favorite art pieces and see them not only for what they were then but also for how they have shaped our entire worldview! (you have not lived until you've seen the blatant COLOR of Ancient Greece) I have an assignment on the figure and its development in the Archaic Age because I CHOOSE A CLASS ABOUT ANCIENT GREEK ART
3. My class tomorrow is a review on the history of museums and how they have been specifically arranged, created, and used to tell a narrative (I just spent thirty minutes looking at a random museum exhibit for fun! But now I get to use a whole new set of tools and I can be a part of discussions that might change things in the future!!!)
Smth smth I need to remind myself that I choose the academia/humanities pathway BECAUSE I ADORE THESE THINGS AND I CAN SEE MYSELF WITH A FUTURE THAT IM HAPPY WITH (even if I might not get to live the "economically comfortable" life I also dream of)

Poggay's Dream Journal #4: Soccer Saved Palmer but Palmer Ruined Soccer
Okay, this one's a doozy. My mom says it's some kind of metaphor for suburbia, but I'm still not sure. Either way, it was a bit weird and felt like I was being indoctrinated into something. Didn't know you could start cults around soccer, but okay.
Last night, I dreamt that my father and I were walking somewhere. I think we were trying to go home. Along the way, we passed a trail that (in real life) we used to walk together when I was younger. He asked me if I wanted to take a quick detour onto the trail, and I said that I’d do it, but I couldn’t go far due to my bad leg and because I wanted to get home.
However, as we walked, it was revealed to us that the field by the path we were supposed to take was infested with soccer players! They were also playing on the path itself, turning my nature walk into a minefield. I ended up escaping the din by dashing down a steep hill into a ditch, thoroughly embarrassed that I intruded on their game. But, of course, as I ran to the ditch, some players followed me.
They weren’t mad at me though. Instead they gathered around me, all curious-like. “Hazy, wasn’t it?” They asked.
“Yeah, that’s my name. How did you know?”
“You used to come here all the time! We’ve wanted to say hi to you for years, but by the time you were walking the trail, it was time for us to leave.”
Some of them told me their names, none of which sounded familiar then, and none of which I remember now. It was weird, though. In this dream, I vaguely remembered seeing people playing soccer in that area when I was younger. But back then, they appeared to be the same age as they were now.
The players saved me from the company of my father and walked me over to their school/meeting place - I think it was called Palmer High School. I met a man I assume was their coach, and he told me a bit more about the team. Somewhere in the middle of this, I had time to pull out my phone and look them up.
They were… Surprisingly well-covered for a random high school. When I googled them, one of the first results I saw was a video essay with the title, “Soccer Saved Palmer but Palmer Ruined Soccer”. Weird. I guess they have a rather controversial history with the sport.
Anyway, when I tapped back in, the players wanted to do some kind of examination of my body. Nothing inappropriate, just checking my legs and feet and stuff. Still, not something I’d expect a group of kids to know how to do.
 “Eugh. That feels weird.”
“Oh, I’m sorry! Does it hurt?”
“Not hurt, per se, but I have sensory issues, so it feels… uncomfortable.”
 “Ah. I see.”
While this was going on, the coach told me a little more about the school, specifically about the art that students make at the beginning and end of the year. Students start off the year by using materials to make some sculpture or craft of their choosing, then come back at the end of the year to make something else by taking apart their original piece and re-using the materials. It actually seemed kind of cool, but the coach was talking it up so much that it kind of set me off.
After the exam was done, the kids on the team told me that I had pretty good legs for playing soccer, implying that I should join the team. Weird, considering I didn’t even go to the school. I put that in my back pocket for later, because the coach wanted my help fixing a display in the lobby we were in.
While I was fixing the display, he started going over the rules of the soccer team. It was mostly normal stuff: Be a good sport, play hard, don’t cheat, and most of all have fun. But there was another rule after all of that: It’s not your fault. He had a lot of meanings behind this one. If we lose a game, it’s not your fault. If you get injured, it’s not your fault. If you can’t show up, it’s not your fault. If anything, anything, happens, it’s not your fault. He really tried to hammer that point home.
At the end of it all, he asked me if I wanted to join the team. I told him I’d think about it, and headed for the door. I don’t remember leaving the building before I woke up, though.

About Roboska
I have not abandoned it. I'm too determined to abandon it. Hell, I'll even sell me soul to Satan if he lets me complete this project before I die.
So what the hell am I talking about? Well...
Roboska is a game series that I'm planning on making over the next few...decades. Yeah...this is going to take a while. I don't mind though as this is my magnum opus, my dream game series, the only reason I exist in this world, the thing I really want to make and will do anything to be able to complete it in my vision. I've been working on it (mainly character designs and writing) since I was 12 and it's evolved from just a little animation series I had planned for 2021, to a whole meta multiverse kind of thing. Is it ambitious? Absolutely. However you'll see why I care so damn much about this thing once it actually starts to come out. This will be the highlight of my game development career and I will only be known as "that girl who made roboska" from that day forward.
The first one is "The Sapphic Princess", which I've already started. I've chucked little bits of lore into some of my game jam games so technically the first one is some 400 word visual novel I made in 2 days...Anyway, I tried making this idea back in 2022 but I lost motivation due to the limitations I gave myself. I still released it under the name "Sci-Fi RaiRoboska!?". It sucks and it takes up way too much memory thanks to me being a stubborn little brat who decided to code the entire thing in Scratch. To be fair, this was made before I knew what Godot was. The art is okay, the music is fine, the story really needs some work, overall it's the disappointment of the family and will not be considered canon. I keep it up though as it's part of history and also it explains what I was doing for 10 months of my life. Originally roboska was just that (and 2 squeals I had planned, which I still do to a degree) but it's evolved since then and has crossed over with some other projects that I've abandoned.
The Sapphic Princess (or LV for short) is the indirect prequel to the big one: Roboska: kanjou! It's a remake of Sci-Fi RaiRoboska but with much more content in, way more horror and 4th wall breaks, voice acting, 3D animations and also the planned squeal shoved in as well to make the ending more satisfying. It's in a completely different world with the main link between the 2 being the roboska experiments. Same experiment, different people testing on different worlds. Same with the 3rd one: Roboska: owari. Although that one takes place in the same world as kanjou, just with a different god with different motives testing it. I don't want to go into too much detail, but I've been tweaking and perfecting the story for 3 years now, and will continue to do so. I upload almost every piece of digital art that I do so here's a bunch of roboska art from both LV and kanjou (some of it is outdated).
In conclusion: I did not abandon roboska as a whole, just Sci-Fi RaiRoboska. It has evolved into something much greater than I envisioned and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoy making it.
Also "roboska" doesn't mean anything, it's just a bunch of gibberish I chucked together back in 2021 that sounded cool and I've gotten too attached to it. I'll think of some kind of lore meaning. The closest I've gotten is that the prefix "robo-" means "automation" and suka in japanese (ska is spelt suka in katakana) means a bunch of random stuff according to google:

It's also a russian swear word apparently.
I guess any of these translations could work is you make it very abstract (or if roboska is short for a longer phrase). Roboska is used to describe a pre-destined event where an alien species called "emeraldeyes" directly communicate with humans to "test their limits of imorality" when given the opportunity to screw up fictional lives and not have to face any real world consequences. The idea of losing the lottery could work in the sense of the fictional characters having bad luck for being born just to suffer. I'm not too sure of the name meaning just yet. I'll think of something...eventually. It's a little annoying how tumblr says the username "roboska" is already taken so I had to name the LV blog "roboska-LV" which means I have to keep changing it every time I start work on the next one and make all the previous links to it not work anymore.

random m1 macbook things:
you can make the menu bar continue to display itself in the free area beside the notch when you fullscreen content. it's both incredibly convenient (now you have access to control center and every menu bar app ever) and sort of immersion-breaking. well that can be good too; maybe seeing the time reminds you to stop watching youtube and go do something you're supposed to be doing.
Tumblr media
be careful not to pinch yourself in the hinge if you like to hold your laptop with your hand there, that thing is sharp
it trackpad too big for it got damn keyboard. if you j/k scroll, the side of your palm may be on the trackpad, but just barely, which presumably makes brushing motions that the palm rejection thinks might be intentional, which can interrupt scroll actions.
mini LED is not a panacea; as with all displays that use full array local dimming, anything small and white on a black background will have obvious haloing, and if the thing moves (mouse cursor on anything black; white UI elements) you'll notice where the actual LEDs are. fullscreen a discord call with the other user's video in portrait and you'll see what I mean. I would actually really like a mode that turns off the FALD or only turns it on when it detects HDR content; it's not like it helps with contrast on things like text. (honestly, being Apple, they could totally detect which regions of the screen are video and only activate local dimming in them. that would be super cool.) honestly, I think this display is interesting to compare to the roughly-similar panels Apple has been using ever since the 2012 rMBP (well, since the iPhone 4 really), insofar as it actually feels less refined. Apple does a great job hiding all of the complexity of a modern high-end display, something that the Windows PC ecosystem does not even attempt let alone succeed at, but the weird edge cases still shine through. I wonder how many years until the first OLED Macbook Pro.
I always thought universal binaries (x86 and arm code in the same .app file) were silly and a waste of disk space, but the one time you care is when you run migration assistant between an x86 mac and an apple silicon mac; since Edge for example uses separate packages, it becomes unopenable once moved to the device that it's the wrong package for. downloading the right one and replacing it does work, it seems, and in the case of Edge you do keep your data (although when I had to do the same thing for Ungoogled Chromium it lost the actual browser settings; the user data like history and open tabs came over fine though).
the ability to charge from the right side can be very nice. it'll be limited to 100w if you have a 5A-certified USB-C cable (they have a chip inside), otherwise it'll be limited to 60w. totally fine still unless you have a drained battery or are doing some soft of intense graphics workload. the fact that my chintzy little cable that's supposed to be for an android phone can charge a laptop at a reasonable clip feels kind of weird.
I have said my piece about this IRL but the fact that you can plug in/out external monitors and change the scaling of your display and it's just instant is so, chef's kiss
I have Macs Fan Control installed to see when the fans spin up. they have been at 0 RPM ever since I got the laptop
honestly the speakers could use less bass, at least when you aren't using the laptop on a table. it sounds a little hollow; I bet the apple audio engineers did most of their optimization with the user seated at a desk, not half-upside-down in bed or whatever. I guess stereotypically that would be the userbase for the rumored soon-upcoming 15" M2 Macbook Air, not the rather workstation-y pro models. (see also: my comment about the hinge.)
it's definitely not the same keyboard; the press action on these is sharper and louder than the pre-butterfly ones. feels nice but I wish it was quieter.
also, not specific to the mac, but automatic wireless shared clipboard that includes copied files is absolutely nuts. also the fact that migration assistant grabs stuff like the history of my terminal windows is just. yeah you don't get stuff like this on windows
(except window arranging. and like 3-4 other things that microsoft does correctly and apple utterly neglects for no apparent reason. but, you know, besides those.)
(also the new macos settings panel that they stole off the ipad is so buggy it counts as a legitimate achievement lmao. good job)

Diary of a Horror Buff 8.23.22
Ugh Hey sluts, work was long but I got paid, ooh guess who can pay his rent now its me bitch.
So I've watched nothing but trash so let's also watch something thats not that to make up for it.
Tumblr media
Clown Motel: Spirits Arise (2019) dir.  Joseph P. Kelly
Ok so in my tubi queue I have a lot of random stuff on it gay shit, actually good horror movies, and the worst bottom of the barrel trash that you could possible ever want to watch. this is the later.
so we start off with some random assholes who make a haunted places style tv show. Like that one zak bagans show.
Tumblr media
one day this man will be murdered by a ghost and the world will thank them.
the random assholes are like whoa a clown hotel in the desert that sounds lit. and to be honest the clown hotel is actually very lit however this movie does not deliver on the tourism aspect. The houses that october built this is not.
While these assholes are driving we meet a bunch of women celebrating a bachlorette party. They do not have names they barely have personalities. The first half hour of this movie is dedicated to introducing the single personality trait that each character has.
and before you ask yes Gay is a personality trait.
the clowns are extremely generic looking theres a pig butcher clown whose a rapist, a little person clown whose grumpy and violent, and a full grown man whose clearly trying to homage Schlitzie which just feels abliest.
Tumblr media
omg you can have a character with Microcephaly thats actually dynamic and treats them like a person. Amazing.
theres also some subtle homophobia in here but that being said I love that they gay friend packed an entire bag of sex toys on a all guys road trip and somehow there still surprised he sucks dick. Like bruh you share a hotel room with him.
Long story short this movie is bad and does not have enought clown highjinks.
Tumblr media
This has exactly zero things to do with this review. I am just obsessed with Aplause's Le Petits Marshel the Clown Plushie. He gives me joy.
Tumblr media
The Murder at Glen Athol AKA The Criminal Within (1936) dir. Frank R. Strayer
this was very very boring. mayo boy detective like wah wah I'm on vacation with his idiot housekeeper who I feel like is supposed to be the salt of the earth thug with a heart of gold type but hes just a very unfunny butt monkey. horrible annoying.
The rest of the cast is as follows.
boisterious flapper type who just flaunts how much the men in her life enjoy pussy worship
ingenue #54
a "wise guy eh" mobster
sugar daddy
various fuckbois who don't really play into the plot.
Now tropes are useful for a reason but the main issue with this film is plot. Mysteries really need to be well-structered so that the audience can feel like were solving the mystery along with the detective. This does not deliver.
youtube
Fatima's Coochee Choochee Dance (1896) dir. William Heise, James H. White.
Ok so I watched this because I mean ya gotta but what I discovered is really really cool. First check out these two cool articles about the subject.
basically the coochee coochee dance is what we would call belly dancing in modern day. the whole culteral idea we have in america is actually part of the orientalism that occured during the late victorian era. and the coochee dance was both something that was taking the world by storm. People were obsessed with this dance and it was very de riguer. It was also very controversay.
bigsly the unwashed masses are gawking at the haram dances of the orient. Someone must think of the children. well are children not those of the unlettered.
This film also has the curious denotion of being the first censored film since Fatima's hips were a little too hot for teacher and by teacher I mean the local alderman.
Overall a super cool piece of history. Shake those hips fatima.
vimeo
Nursery Crimes (2011) dir. L. Whyte
hey kids do you like fucked up fairy tales??? well your in fucking luck. so yeah this is exactly the vibe your expecting little bo peep is a crazy little psycho and shenanigans, (moider) happens.
youtube
The Video Store Commercial (2019) dir. Cody Kennedy, Tim Rutherford
FUN FACT: The last blockbuster literally ever is in my state.
So this is a movie about a video rental store, (yes zoomer we know), who's making a commercial and honestly I really do wish they still existed not because I don't enjoy the interent but because one. Physical Copies mean that its harder to wipe entire shows off the map like with what happened with HBO Max literally fucking over so many of their content creators.
Also I really want to see a copy of the Japenese Tomie Film Series but the only physical copies I can find are like over a hundren bucks and I don't have that kind of money.
So nostaligia aside this was a fun little horror comedy check it out.
youtube
Betty Boop in Halloween Party (1933) dir. Dave Fleisher.
OK I mean why wouldn't I want to watch more Betty Boop Cartoons what can I say I like a dame that can go boop boop de Boop and live in a world were everyone does a jaunty gig.
ok so there a fuck ton of gifs from this film which I'm not surprised there are a lot of really fun visual gags. I also love that Betty Boop is just like yeah I'm a pinup what about it. like she literally just opens the door and is like hey gals what if you just saw my entire ass.
Also victorians had a whole bunch of insane halloween parlor games and one of these days it would be amazing to have a themed holloween party.
so yeah this is just a movie about betty boop throwing a party and then some asshole crashes it.
I also love that the more I watch these old cartoons the more cuphead references I get.
youtube
The Cobweb Hotel (1936) dir. Dave Fleischer
Ok so this is another one of those old Color Classics that I remember from my DVDs I watched as a kid. Basically this is a story about a daring enterpanuer who wants to make the stay the best of the customers life.
also he's a spide so there definetly trying to kill them or something. Serving H.H.Holmes realnesss.
Theres a lot to enjoy here, the horrible dark plot, the tiny person aestetic. the fun action scenes.
All Around a good time.
OK Part of me want to watch more but also part of me wants to go deal with everything else I have to deal with today. So get ready for tomorrow for more fun films.
