Hey, Zelda - ...Another You?
“Hey, Zelda” is a documentation of my personal Tears of the Kingdom playthrough, told through the eyes of Link in a series of monologues.
In the brief intermission between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, Link and Zelda spent a lot of time together - and by that I mean, they lived together. They shared a house, shared meals, even shared a bed (though if you asked them, they would’ve told you it was for comfort and safety, and yes, they’d really believe what they were saying). Link, however, also shared stories. Old habits die hard, and after Zelda disappears, he talks as if she's there listening to him just to keep some semblance of normalcy in his life.
Note that these are incredibly self-indulgent and I fully expect no one but myself to actually care about any of these lmao.
~~~~~~~~
Hey, Zelda? You’d come and find me as soon as you were able, wouldn’t you? I mean, I would do the same for you, you know. If I’m being honest, that was my reason for checking Lookout Landing first, then coming here to the house, and then going to all the skyview towers in the first place. If you were going to be anywhere, I would’ve thought it would be there, or here, or if I got up high enough in each region maybe I’d catch a glimpse of you. Even going back to Thundra Plateau to check on the herd, I thought maybe you’d go there to find me. But you weren’t in any of those places, and you aren’t here, so wherever you are, I have to believe you’re gone because you can’t come back for some reason, and not just that you’re… running away. If you’re out there and you are running away from everything that’s happening, I can’t blame you. It’s just that… maybe it’s selfish, but I’d hope that you’d ask me if I wanted to run away with you too. Because I do. Not that I’d tell anyone else that, but if I was given the choice, I wouldn’t be here saving the world. …You’re not actually here, so I can say this, but… I lost everything again. Not just the sword, you already know that’s gone. But my strength, my stamina, my capacity to handle just about anything… I’m back to where I started seven years ago. Back to being knocked out by a single pebble thrown by a blue bokoblin. I don’t think I can do it again. I don’t think I can go through all of the training and literally back breaking work just to be the hero I’m supposed to be again. I’m still so tired from the Calamity, Zelda. You kept telling me that the soul of the hero I once was still lives inside me but… does it? And if it does, then why am I back to being no stronger than a common Hylian? Is this why no one remembers me? Even the people from the village act like they’ve never seen me before… Maybe I never will be the hero of Hyrule again.
…Sorry, that was a lot. I found the gold horse. She was at the snowfield stable, exactly where the other stable owner said she would be. Or at least, she was at the stable. She wasn’t when I got there. One of the stablehands had grown very fond of her and was apparently personally looking over her care, so I imagine she was being taken care of well, but apparently she also kept escaping her stall and trying to run away. On the topic of being forgettable, I swear people must already be forgetting what you look like. She said that apparently she saw someone who looked like you trying to take the horse, and that the mare freaked out and bolted away as fast as she could. That couldn’t have been you, then. Between the two of us I know you were always her favorite, so I’d think she’d be running toward you rather than so far away from you. Which means it couldn’t have been you. And that means you must still be out there looking for a way to get back, and that means you couldn’t be out there looking for me yet, which means that you’re not not looking for me, which means my entire rant was for nothing. …great. Again, one of the few times I’m glad that you’re not actually here. Anyways, I got a hold of the mare for you. The stablehand seemed shocked that she seemed so fond of me. I wasn’t about to argue - it’s not like we frequent this stable anyways so I guess I can forgive her for not knowing that I was the one helping you train the horse. She’s officially registered with me now, though. I named her after your favorite historical figure - Tetra. I hope you like that name.
Oh, and remember that tack set I had that we both hated? …backing up for a moment - So the stable took away all my tack sets. Apparently now people are only allowed to have special tack for their horses if they have a certain amount of pony points. Again, not going to argue with them, but come on. Those tack sets were already mine. Why would they take them away just because I was gone for maybe a month and then force me into this “pony point” system just so I can get it all back?! Apparently they got rid of the ancient set I had because “the teleportation system was just too dangerous for horses.” Which is so incredibly ridiculous. If anything the teleportation system was a lifesaver in case they got stuck somewhere. …but oh well. Thankfully I got all the rest of my tack back because it’s harder to keep me away from all the stables in Hyrule than it is to find me at one of them at any given time. Anyways, back to the tack we hated. The “extravagant” tack? Turns out Tetra looks even better in that saddle than the royal gear you originally had her in. You’ll have to see when you get back but I think you’ll really like it too.
Author's Note:
Yay the tiniest bit of "angst." We'll call that angst I guess.
I wasn't sure what to name the golden horse, but when I was thinking of what Zelda would name a horse, I thought she'd probably name it something from Hyrule's history. I imagine she must be very fond of stories about Tetra, even though Tetra is technically just another version of her. And also for some reason the name just kinda... fit.
For real though I have a hatred of the extravagant set but for some reason the saddle looks so nice on her.
Alrighty. I've gone through the comic and just found some things I'd like to share.
Regarding the Dink Is actually Wild theory, I've taken some images throughout the comic about some things.
First, I noticed that Wild is wearing his cloak. I don't think he would think to put on his cloak. He usually only wears it when he doesn't expect any danger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These were all the instances in the story Wild wore his cloak (one cloak pic per update). The majority of the time he only wears it when traveling or when things are calm. There's an exception, but that's when a surprise attack came, so he wasn't ready for it.
Next part, Wild has had his bow out nearly the entire comic, unless he's wearing his cloak.
Tumblr media
This is the first time he's used his bow, and this was way early in the story. It's only unless he believes there to be no reason for a fight does he put it away and equip his cloak (which is actually similar to how I like playing botw).
So overall, Wild likes his cloak when there's no fight planned, because it's probably hard to fight with it and to reach for his weapons.
Now for the update
Tumblr media
He's wearing his cloak with his hood up. He doesn't usually wear it up. And the fact that he's even wearing it in the first place is strange. Though it's a possibility Wild's cloak is a comfort item for him, it's clear that he doesn't want to be comforted here. He wants to see twilight. He's angry. He's also put his bow away, which again is strange. The Chain are no strangers to allowing their weapons to be seen, and he knows that there's more monsters out. But why would he put then away? He doesn't seem to like having his weapons equipped with his cloak, so if he just wants a comfort item, then it makes sense. And if this were Dink, he can very easily pull out a weapon like he did against Twilight. But then there's the issue of the slate.
Tumblr media
Also another thing we saw a while ago
Where is it? Jojo is not the type of person to just forget the freaking Shiekah Slate. Especially when it's always been there. So where is it??
Edit: whoops the slate is still there. I thought that was his pack, but no, distance away means simple slate. Here's an earlier pic that shows this. So he does still have the slate. Oops
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wild didn't walk to the village. It's towards the sun, and he walked away from it. And I know time has passed, but none of the others have come back yet. So where did he go??
HOWEVER.
There is also a very likely chance that this is Wild grieving. I haven't said anything about his behavior, because I don't think his behavior is ooc. When Twilight got hurt, Wild was absolutely furious and beat Dink into the ground. He's gotten in a fight with Wind about the kings of Hyrule. Wild does get angry, especially when those he cares about are hurt. He doesn't want to lose Twilight. He's protected him ever since he woke up with no memories, no idea what's going on, and the weight of hyrule on his shoulders. Twilight had also protected Wild whenever he gets a memory, as he does in the comic. Twilight is someone who is very very important to Wild, and the thought of losing the first ever friend in his intact memory is crushing him. Wild has lost so many people, more than any other hero. He's lost the Champions, his family (he has a sister he almost remembered!), his old knight friends, and literally all of those he knew in his Hyrule. If they aren't dead, they either treat him like the old Link that he isn't anymore, or they're old, and they treat him as a tool to save Hyrule. Hell,, even Zelda is different. The Zelda he remembers resented him and eventually loved him, while the Link she remembers was silent with a soft spoken side. And the guilt he probably feels for keeping her waiting 100 years, for failing her the first time. I don't know how he can even deal with being near her.
But Twilight is the one who was there with him. Whether it's the version right now that went with him, or it's a version of Twilight that's died and guided him like the Hero's Shade. But either way, the two are still very close in the comic. There's no way Wild would be fine with his close friend dying.
Wild has every right to be angry. He wants to see his dying friend, though he doesn't want to accept that. However, there's just a few concerning details that aren't all lining up. And all of Four is suspicious of something. Whether it's that they know Twilight won't be able to handle an angry, grieving Wild, or something else is wrong. And Vio definitely thinks somethings up.
Either way Wild is going to get his ass kicked. Also if this really is just Wild, I need to see a shot of Blue dragging Wild by his ankle somewhere while the others follow.
so what what would happen if the someone got wild's amnesia? Am i making sense?
Ooh interesting question.
Honestly, I'm not quite sure what would happen to each of the Links if they were to lose all of their memories, so instead I will discuss this in a way if all the Links suddenly lost their game memories. What I mean by that is that the Links don't get their memories completely wiped, they just lose their memories of what occured during their adventures in the canon games.
Legend is first that comes to mind, mostly because I think his situation would be quite funny. Out of all the Links, I think his personality and lifestyle would be the one to surprise the Links the most if he lost his game memories. Like, before Link's Awakening, Link to the Past, A Link Between Worlds, etc, he was really just Some Guy™. He didn't hoard magical items, he didn't have the attitude or trauma of someone who's saved the world multiple times, he's just Some Guy from an Apple Orchard who can't swim and loved his uncle. He'd be an absolute bag full of shock for the others, and I find that funny. The Link's would have to deal with a version of Legend that acts too kind, too peaceful, and too sharing to be the one they know and love.
Sky is another interesting one, because this guy was basically hyrules equivalent of a dorky collage kid before he went to the surface. This guy would be absolutely terrified and amazed to find himself on the surface with a bunch of small birds and the clouds ABOVE??? He'd barely be able to use his sword, let alone face the dangers of the surface without absolutely pissing himself. Although, he'd definitely be worried about Skyloft, his loftwing, and Zelda. The Link's would have to scramble to keep him out of wondering off and getting himself hurt.
Wind would be one who's change is so subtle that like, almost no one noticed for the first several minutes that something's wrong. Wind would be a bit more bratty, and bit more reckless, and a LOT more prone to getting himself hurt because he wants to prove he's not some little kid. He'd annoy the ears off the other Links asking about his grandmother and sister and then accidentally change topics when he realizes they've been walking a long time how big is the island they're on? He's never been off the island- hey you guys are all wearing hero tunics which is weird cuz you really only need to do that when you turn twelve but oh well be weirdos I guess, anyways about my sister-
Twilight, like Legend, would be Some Dude™. All of a sudden, his accent gets so much thicker and his personality becomes a lot more reserved. He takes the news of being a hero and losing his memory pretty well, considering, but looks uncomfortable and confused whenever Wild attempts to strike up any kind of banter. However, this Twilight is also more open, and willing to tell the others a little about his life in Ordon. And shockingly, he's a lot more reckless, forcing the others to realize that maybe the reason he's so stingy about safety... is because he's had to learn how to be that way to survive his quest. Eventually, Twilight finds the stone that turns him to a wolf and freaks out so badly that the Links that Knew almost pass out from laughing and making fun of him, and the Links that Didn't Know stand and watch in utter bafflement as Wild eventually shows Twilight how to turn back into a human.
Warriors is like Sky where this man is just a headstrong knight in training. However, Warriors is still very good with a sword. The main difference is that he's... not very good at planning ahead. Man can take being told he's a hero of legend and saved the world in stride and then run prematurely into a battle that, before, he would have stopped the others and made sure they had a plan of attack. He's reckless in the way he fights, swings are not precise as they should be. But there's an innocent look in his eyes, a look that hasn't been weathered down by war and death.
Time is an interesting one to consider because he was so young before his games. However, the first thing he'd notice is that he's big. He's with big people. Wtf. When did kids get big? He'd ask if they have fairies, because they're dressed like forest kids, they should have fairies, and then he'd get really excited that they don't have fairies and they're like him. After that? It's all wonder. So much to take in from a world he's never considered that he almost doesn't have time to wonder about the kids he left behind. There's curiosity, and a stupid bravery that has him chasing after anything that catches his eye. Returning Times memories is probably one of the hardest things the Links have ever had to do, because returning his memories kills that innocence, that easy smile, that bursting energy and curiosity. But he has a wife to return to, he has an entire life that he's fought to have, and keeping him as he was would be the same as killing him.
Hyrule would have close to no change, personality nor skills. This kid has been on his own since forever, and he's lived in the dangerous, monster infested woods since forever. Yet, there's a stark difference. This Hyrule has trust. He trusts the others immediately when they tell him of his memories. He trusts them when they tell him their quests. He trusts them when they say his food isn't poisoned. While this Hyrule may be almost exactly the same, the others are left with a gut wrenching feeling that something costed this innocent trust, and they hope they never find out.
Four is Some Guy™ part three. However, while skeptical of the other Links, he's a little more open to tell of his past, and everyone is shocked to hear he's childhood best friends with Zelda. He's also a lot more confident in his decision making too, while before he'd overanalyze almost everything, now when he chooses to do something he just does it, like whatever internal struggled he used to have before simply don't exist. Everyone feels like while they have Four, something is just... Missing. And it's not his just his memories. Perhaps it's the fire to his passion, his bite to his anger, the severity of his caution, or the haughtiness of his knowledge. Whatever it is, something feels wrong, where this Four almost feels like a cheep copy.
Aaah I've been absolutely living for your zelda au posts!!! I want to know everything- there's too much I can't think of where to start!!! I'm gready for absolutely any more details you want to want to share!!! (also, thank you so much for puttling those posts out in the world- your writing is just amazing and beautiful and you're just fab)
anon this is so sweet i wasn't sure anyone was actually paying attention to that au bc it's uh. pretty specific to me personally. so it's really nice to hear that someone is actually reading them and enjoying them!!!!! so, here are some thoughts i have about how nicolo gets the master sword because this is one of the things ive been thinking about recently. along with how they actually get together romantically but i'm not going to tell you that i would like to keep some things a surprise. i also am putting it under a cut bc it got long:
- i know there's no triforce in breath of the wild but i don't care this is my zelda au and i'll do what i want. for non-zelda fans, the triforce is basically the ultimate power, usually split into three pieces, which are courage power and wisdom. princess zelda holds the triforce of wisdom, ganon holds power, and link holds courage. so in this case yusuf's got wisdom (well. not yet) and nicolo has courage.
- i know in botw link got the master sword when he was like 12 but again i'll do what i want. i still havent finalised how old they are yet but theyre not 17.
- so onto what actually happens. at this point, they don't know who has been chosen to be the hero. nicolo has already been assigned as yusuf's bodyguard, the divine beast pilots have been chosen and are currently staying at hyrule castle, and nicolo and yusuf are just about reaching the friends stage.
- so. one morning yusuf wakes up to find nicolo at his door looking a more than a little bit freaked out. yusuf is, you know, worried about this, and nicolo shows him the mark of the triforce on the back of his hand, which appeared during the night after a weirdly vivid dream he had about a forest and a sword in a stone pedestal.
- (now as a quick side note - while in the zelda games the triforce always just looks glowy and gold and cool on the back of link's hand, nicolo's mark looks like a burn mark or a brand. this is because one of the main points in this au is that the triforce/being chosen is a burden more than anything else. it is unwanted. it is stressful. it often results in painful death. the zelda games occasionally hint at this but they're made for children 7+ so don't go into it. i, however, very much do. the triforce can be considered both a blessing and a curse, as it grants you abilities but also forces you to fulfil a destiny you may never have wanted. yusuf's feelings on it are complicated but he mostly considers it to be a curse. we don't see nicolo's feelings on it directly as the first part is written from yusuf's point of view but i will tell you that he has a complicated relationship with it too. this will be hinted at in part 2 but that is... also complicated bc reasons. this was not a quick side note at all. oops)
- that aside, yusuf knows exactly what the mark means, of course. because when his mother died and his father got weird about training he made it a point to learn as much about all of this stuff to try and figure out how to access the sealing power. it didn't work, but this does mean he knows what it means
- so, he takes nicolo to see his father, because he's not quite sure what else to do. long story short they organise a journey to the lost woods, where the master sword is. i probably won't actually call it the master sword within the fic but i'm referring to it that way here. (for non zelda fans: the master sword is the only weapon that can harm calamity ganon. at least in this au, because technically anything can harm ganon in botw but again i do what i want) the champions go along because i like them.
- another important detail in this is that while the mark of the triforce means nicolo is the one destined to wield the master sword, but that does not automatically make him worthy of it. the master sword stands as a test. if you try to pull it from the stone and you are not worthy, you just straight up die. again with the idea of destiny being a curse i feel like i mention that a lot. (it's a test of courage, see: you have to be willing to try anyway, despite knowing you could die. you must also be like kind and not evil or whatever)
- nicolo's not going to die (yet) but you know. nobody knows that. so understandably it's a little stressful. yusuf maybe tries to talk him out of doing it or something idk yet. perhaps tries to call it off when he sees nicolo in pain. but nicolo does get the sword in the end
- and yusuf has... complicated feelings about this. because you see he has been training for years, and he has achieved nothing, and now nicolo has the master sword. in yusuf's eyes, he is everything he is supposed to be, and yusuf is still a failure. (his father also says something like "finally, we are making progress" because yusuf's father is kind of a jerk)
- he gets a little withdrawn after this but then nicolo comes to find him after he doesn't see him at dinner (with cake. this actually happens on two separate occasions in the fic because i have a lot of thoughts and feelings about nicolo acts of service di genova and food as an expression of love) and they like. talk and stuff
- this is an important stage in their relationship tho because before they have been pretty formal with each other and almost-friends but not quite there and this is what moves them past that stage. yusuf is finally able to actually talk to someone. so is nicolo. i am not describing all of it because i do want to leave some things as a vague surprise but yeah
- so that's how nicolo gets the master sword
#neon answers#anonymous#the zelda au which lives only in my head#seriously anon i am always down to talk about zelda au so if you are ever wondering about anything chances are i have thought about it#extensively. please feel free to ask any time. i am really happy you're enjoying my rambling#i am actively encouraging people to ask about my zelda au i have spent a lot of time thinking about it#anyway MORE rambles in the tags because i'm not done#nicolo of course has to get the master sword BACK 100 years later. which is a little more complicated#he goes straight for it because he isn't sure about a lot of things but he knows he needs it#but when he gets there and tries to pull the blade from the pedestal he can't do it#the attempt nearly kills him. he passes out and probably gets some kind of memory/dream/flashback kinda thing#i've also been thinking a lot about how he gets his memories back#he travels to each spring to try and become worthy of the sword again and is able to access each one after completing the divine beast#at each spring he is given some of his memories back (specifically of yusuf: the others he gains before each divine beast / after freeing#the champion trapped in the divine beast)#he doesn't regain them all but he regains enough#at the spring of courage he remembers showing yusuf lovers' pond / their first meeting / A Certain Other Event Which I Won't Talk About#(they go to lovers' pond before they're even together like that. yusuf mentions the legend and nicolo's like oh i found that i'll show you)#at the spring of wisdom he remembers traveling up mount lanayru#not sure about power yet. i havent thought as much about the eldin / zora parts yet#i think the zora will have some kind of connection to mount lanayru#because they value wisdom above all else + mount lanayru is sacred to the goddess of wisdom#i have a lot of worldbuilding ideas tbh. i've been toying with the idea of moving the gorons further from death mountain because i don't#want them to be rock people in this so they're just human. i might end up moving them to akkala but still near the mountain#three of the divine beasts will remain the same - i haven't figured out andromache's beast yet. i think a snake would be cool tho#(this is when i find my copy of creating a champion and use one of the unused concepts. the crab was cool)#anyway. anon this message made me insanely happy. i hope you are having a nice day
Amphibia Reviews: The First Temple or Bessie and Joe: The New OTP
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy people! Amphibia season 2 moves right a long and it’s time for some video game shenanigans as we enter The First Temple! Family drama, snail on bird action, and outhouses await you under the cut with a recap/review with full spoilers.
Tumblr media
So we open with the Plantars having chocopillbug pancakes. Ironically my mom offered me chocolate chip pancakes after this and thank god for that. This is a rare treat to the point Anne didn’t even know they had choclate, and is suprisingly not strangling Hop Pop over this. Unsuprisingly he broke out the good stuff to try and make up for hiding the box and things are still VERY awkward between the two, with Hop Pop walking on Egghshells around Anne and Anne doing the same when he brings it up with both desperatley trying to avoid the subject and Sprig not helping by bringing it up a bunch.
I like this a lot and didn’t really think about the series continuting any tension over his decision.. but should have. Partly because this is a modern animated show and most of this wonderful new wave of shows have a LOT of emotional nuance. ANd partly because this show dosen’t forget things even most nuanced shows forget: the fact the characters cause chaos and learn life lesons is outright RECOGNZIED by the show as a pattern and brought up quite often, as are the patterns that lead to it, like mostly being sprig and anne, anne’s impulsivness that sort of thing. It’s the kind of thing you just gloss over in most shows but this one lampshades to hell and back for funsies so when something THIS important happens, you’d better belivie it’s not just going to disappear.
The tensions thankfully broken by a new arrival, as a massive sparrow shows up in the yard. “It’s a giant bird with.. books on it’s back.. what. “ Great delivery from bill there. Naturally it’s Marcy!
Tumblr media
I missed this little goober. Such a joy to be around, and she of course marvels over the Plantar’s house before getting back on track: She’s found the first temple.. even though she sent a letter saying that and it’s not commented on that she did. It set off the whole previous episode Marcy... you okay Mar-Mar?
Tumblr media
That aside though it’s time for the first temple and Marcy asks for the Box, with Sprig trying to make a joke about how good thing she didn’t ask for it a week ago.
Tumblr media
Polly rightly punches him in the ribs... do frogs have ribs? Hold on.. okay here we go
Tumblr media
Huh.. so they do not You learn something new every day. Well lack of ribs or no our heroes are ready.. while Marcy’s sparrow Joe is also ready TO GET IT ON. Yes really, he does a mating dance for Bessie, complete with an intersumental version of “Sylvia” from last season. God damn that bird’s got game. The only time i’ve seen more game is THIS.
 Marcy tells him to knock it off. Look marcy your a pet owner now and as a pet owner, it’s your responsiblity.. to let your giant bird do horrifying things with a slightly smaller but still giant snail. it’s what nature intended. Nature was doing a lot of cocaine that day but we still honor her wishes.
But anyways Marcy’s figure out something intresting about the box.. by winding it just right the gems pop out, which allows her to take one, we later find out it’s the green one, to use in the temple. So off we go with Marcy and the rest of the kids up top and Hop Pop.. screaming in Joe Sparrows claws. He’s fine.
So while they get ready, Anne worries about the amount of puzzles and hazzards Marcy’s hyping for this but Marcy shurgs it off and gives her own big boast about how may RTS she’s beaten.. suspciously like Yuaan as one post on here pointed out. Not a huge suprise though, to Marcy she’d just be the grand hero out of one of her rpg’s and not think of how many people she probably killed or who she’s working for.. though you’d THNK given all the RPG’s both tapetop and on her switch she’s played, that Marcy would see that “the benevolent king turns out to be the big bad” trope coming.
But Anne’s worry is not on the big bad of the show but on Marcy who has a tendency to get so in the zone she ignores the world around her, which goes from focusing on her game while helping anne get softserve leading to a mess, not letting Anne down in a play and.. Anne catching Marcy on tv as all the snakes escape from the zoo.
Tumblr media
Regardless our heroes arrive and while the awkwardness between anne and hop pop continues, they find a majestic temple.. and what appears to be an outhouse. Hey we all gotta poop sometimes, even people making a majestic temple.  If you don’t it comes out like this.
Tumblr media
So they head in and we get our first puzzle, a mysterious cube that lifts you into the air and allows you to tilt the thing around.
Tumblr media
Those of you wondering why I have such a strong reaction have ever never played breath of the wild or played it with a pro controller, i.e. NOT having to tilt the very thing your screen is on because Nintendo has failed to grasp that MAYBE people don’t like that, that it takes you out of the experince and that it’s really hard to focus on your screen while having to move the fucking system about. And the plantar’s getting horribly jostled around as she moves it is EXACTLY how it feels to play a puzzle requring that shit.
Next is a color based tile dungeon leftover from Link’s Awakening DX. As marcy figures out the reds do fire and the blues do crushing... but she reads the language (And as she put earlier “Guess who learned an entire dead language?” God she’s precious. ) and finds a green with envy pun (Which Hop Pop takes offense to.. several of his friends are green.). Which is curious as given several citzens of amphibia are green.. why would they make a green pun? So she gets on one tile and Hop Pop plans to take the risk of getting on the other green tile, but Anne does it instead.. and things get heated between the two as Anne reveals she no longe feels like family since he did what he did for polly and sprig and hop pop takes offense as she IS. Even if he screwed up with her. But Anne’s near death experince activates the tile.
The final challnge switches us from Zelda.. to Harry Freaking Potter.
Tumblr media
Now I used to love Harry Potter, with all of my heart. Then JK Rowling turned out to be a transphobic piece of shit who thinks she’s an ally, but is really a bigot who wants to “accept” trans people without giving them any rights. So yeah while I still love the starkid musicals, ore more accuratley the music from them, and own a copy of lego harry potter I got as a gift recently as both parties had no idea she was a monster when this stuff was made. Still a sore subject though, but if I didn’t bring up the similiarties I wouldn’t be doing my job as a critic and this was likely thought up long before JK outed herself as well...
Tumblr media
No no the great mighty poo respects all peoples.. and wants to take their heads and ram it up his butt. He’s an equal opportunity butt rammer.
Anyways this is the frog equivlent of chess flipfrog, and just like with Wizard chess, our heroes end up as the pieces minus marcy.. and in a nice twist on that scene, Anne ends up on the other side. Marcy is a grandmaster at it though so after an hour or so of play she almost wins.. only for the king equilvent to refuse to be taken and the automatic board she’s up against to send Anne against hop pop, and with our heroes magically restrained and given stone weapons, this can’t end well. Eventually though Anne’s forced to hit HOp Pop multiple times and while he says “well isn’t this what you wanted”, she says no.. she didn’t want to phsyically hurt him it’s just complicated. So we get one heck of an emotioinal scene as Hop Pop just wants to help and wants this to stop and dosen’t knoow how to fix this which as someone who desperatlyt ries to fix most emotional situations right away this hit very hard.. and her response of needing time hit harder. The two while not reconciled, ar ecloser to it and Marcy realizes what she’s done getting so obessed with winning and forfits for thier benifit. Our heroes leave, seemingly having lost.. only to find glowing arrows to the crap hole, which turns out to be the pedistal. The temple wasn’t just an intellegence test but empathy.. and the temples are clearly built to specifically test each of the chosen three, our heroines, specifically. Marcy’s tested her intellegence.. but also her willingness to let go of cold clyincal thought to do the right thing. That earns her her gem recharged and a flash in her eyes and her gem starts pointing to the next. She needs time to triangulate and hop pop and anne are back on workable footing... though our heroes offer to take a break instead of going to the next temple.
Back in Newtopia, Yuaan reports on the toads gathering.. but dosen’t get to mentioning sasha before Marcy’s letter interrupts and Andridas oddly and aburbly dimisses her.. and goes to talk to a watcher with a thousand eyes, his “master” who has plans to undo the prophcey and get their revenge.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts: This was a damn fine episode that gave Marcy some much needed character development, and gave the reveals of last episode some more emotiional fallout.  It also had some really great jokes as always. Top notch stuf.
Next Time: Marcy tries to win everyone over through science and we FINALLY get an episode with the Frog Robot apparently. Horay
Next on this Blog: We go into final space yo! It’s unexpected births, ho yay, and horrifying zombie gary’s galore!
Until then if you liked this review, follow me for more, join my patreon, comission a review if you please and i’ll see you at the next rainbow. Play us out jeff... and I haven’t done THAT bit in a while but eh. This song was too perfect.
In the Temple of Dust
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda (Breath of the Wild)
Character Focus: Link
Summary: After Link completes all the shrines, even though he's stronger than he's ever been...he still isn't sure he can be the hero everyone expects him to be. So some old friends try to cheer him up. Or...maybe they're more than just friends.
Notes: I've been playing Breath of the Wild for the first time lately, so when Tale Foundry's prompt this week ended up being "In the City of Dust" that's immediately where my mind went to, haha! I had to get the BotW fic idea out of my system first. I've also wanted to write a BotW fic since starting, and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity!
This was also a bit inspired by a couple youtube videos: Zeltik's video on the Forgotten Temple potentially being Skyloft, and the Deathly Loneliness Attacks amv.
Please note that I have a very limited knowledge of the Zelda series as a whole (and I have actually not reached this point in my game yet)...so please forgive me if there were any inaccuracies! I tried my best, and I hope it was cool!
I hope you enjoy it! If you do, please consider reblogging, and/or leaving a comment!!
In the Temple of Dust
The hero took a look behind him at the crumbling columns and moss covered stones, the tree breaking out of the wall, and the now destroyed guardians lying among the ruins like the rest, a great sigh of this place, the last things alive silenced.
This whole place felt like a memory, long buried. What once must have been a grand temple now home to skeletons and monsters…and sometimes creatures that were both
He wished he remembered.
He turned forward and made his way to the foot of the goddess, where three chests sat waiting.
As his steps sounded, he heard the faint notes of music. Something like an ocarina. He looked around for the lone player, but there was nothing, no ghosts nor memory. Just, imagination or hallucination.
Did he know this place somewhere, sometime? Now it was nothing more than forgotten; forgotten by more than him alone, enough that that was a part of its name.
The goddess smiled down upon him from her place on high, the statue here taller than any of the others he’d seen, like the people who once lived here were closer to her than anyone else.
He bowed his head to say an extra thanks for good measure.
As he knelt down before the chests, and reached out to open one, his throat held his heart.
This was it. This was the reward of more than a hundred shrines worth of work. The worth of the weight of the world. Surely this would be far more than an ordinary weapon or arrow. This would be the treasure of ages.
It clicked, and he raised the lid. Sitting in the belly of the treasure chest was a green tunic.
He paused a moment to look at it quizzically, before gently reaching in and pulling it out, observing the craftsmanship, the design…trying not to feel disappointed. He wouldn’t have thought the armor of ages would be so plain. But he shouldn’t judge it for looks alone. Surely it was very valuable.
He lay it across his leg and moved on to the next chest. This was a pair of pants to go with the tunic, and the final, a hat, something like a nightcap.
Before he let disappointment overtake him, he decided to put them on. Surely he’d feel something when he did—stronger maybe? They had to be special, important, powerful. They couldn’t be anything less.
But when he put them on, he didn’t feel any stronger, any braver, any better equipped for life’s trials.
He looked at his reflection in a rusty shield in a last ditch attempt to unearth some sort of memory from his subconscious, but only more memoryless mind remained.
The echo of a hero. That’s what he always saw. Echo of a voice laid to rest a hundred years ago. A simple green tunic, without any special abilities, wouldn’t change that.
His face twisted as he groaned, pulling his sword from his back, and swinging it angrily at the air before shoving it into the ground, the sword that seals the darkness merely a stake in the mud, a monument to a lost cause.
He thought this sword would prove his worth, to others as well as himself. When that didn’t work, he thought completing all the shrines would give him answers, make him feel like the hero they all said he was. And though he was stronger than ever, it seemed the emptiness was deeper than that.
He sat on the edge of the staircase.
“Aren’t heroes supposed to have some special powers or something?” he scoffed to the empty air, leaning back against the staircase. “Or at least a sidekick? A memory to their name?” a pause. “I’m sorry I just...” A whisper: “I don’t know if I can save Hyrule after all.”
“What are you talking about?” He started at the sound of a child’s laugh…though the voice sounded oddly distant.
As he reached for the sword he found the speaker was resting his arms casually on the sword. He was indeed a child, but one that looked…oddly similar to himself. Not to mention, well…half transparent.
“You’ve had many powers over the centuries. ” He almost jumped as he saw another version of himself.
“I could control the wind! ” Another raised his hand, this one a child too, even younger than the first.
“I could walk on walls, and between worlds.” If he wasn’t mistaken, it was the painting on the far wall that spoke—he was sure it hadn’t been there before.
“I could become whatever I wanted to be, through the power of putting on a mask, ” said one leaning against the shrine, hiding his face.
“I could control time, ” said the original speaker.
“But that doesn’t make you a hero.” A wolf with strange markings walked in silently, and spoke seemingly with his thoughts.
“Can’t…Can’t you take me back to her then?” the hero asked the ghost of the first speaker. “Before all this started?”
He’d seen more than one ghost before—they even gave power to him. He knew there were enough strange things about this world to be all too fazed by this sight. Besides, perhaps it was just a dream after all. Best enjoy it while it lasts, rather than waste time being freaked out.
The child smiled. “Time was my game. This... ” he backed up, lifting his hands to gesture around him. “This is yours. ”
“What is?”
“Why this world, of course! ”
“It’s so wide, ” the shadowed one spoke.
“You’re freer than you’ve ever been,” said the wolf
“I guess…”
“What’s wrong? ”
“I mean, sure I’ve defeated monsters, and helped some people, and succeeded at the trials but—! What’s that matter if I don’t remember anything? I just…I don’t feel like the hero they all want me to be.”
“Do you think any of us felt like a hero? All we did was go around defeating monsters. ”
“And go on adventures! ” The wind one said, and they chuckled in reply.
“Did you ever consider that maybe being a hero was about more than that?” the time one spoke. “About something in here?" He touched his heart, (though the hero couldn’t feel his fingers).
“And he doesn’t mean the spirit orbs!” the wind one called, and the others laughed.
“You already have it in you.” He held out the sword to him. “I promise.”
“...Does…” He took the sword, observing his reflection in the metal. “Does it have to be this lonely?
“What are you talking about?”
Another version walked out, one who perhaps looked more like himself than the rest, and for a brief moment this place was a city in the clouds. This one’s eyes flicked briefly to the sword before saying,
“You’ve never been alone.”
Link looked around at all the ghosts, seemingly of his past selves, who all smiled in turn, and finally noticed they were all wearing the green tunic. The same one he got from the chests, now placed on his own.
“Now go kick Ganon’s butt!” The wind one put a fist in the air.
More laughter, even a few cheers, and Link smiled, rubbing the back of his neck as he replied.
“Well…I suppose I can at least try.”
The world breathed, and he shut his eyes against the wind. When he opened them again, they were gone.
The scene was a strange one to be sure, and he’d never profess to understand it. He still wasn’t quite sure he’d ever feel like the hero they all expected him to be. But as Link picked up the Master Sword, and walked back out in the world, the words of ghosts and lost memory ringing real in his head, he felt, at the very least, more like a hero than he did yesterday.
Sometimes I wonder what would've been like if there were an absolute sheikah-"FREAK" tech-NERD woman as one of the champions or as a critical hand of knowledge in BREATH OF THE WILD. It would have had so potential of a different level of growth, whilst all the way, adding new air. (Purah and Robbie may have been depicted as 'nerdy' tech geniuses, but I'm talking about a take of a real nerd here.)
Unless it has been practiced naturally, regularly from since early on enough to 'catch up' or it just COMES by naturally, it takes really, REALLY hard EFFORT to be able to properly socialize and be treated as a 'normal' person, with everyday-average natural conversation flow and responses. And I have never SEEN THIS kind of trying, SPONTANEOUS struggle outputted BY the nerd being depicted, like ANYWHERE.
It's so hard to get yourself to even try to interact, and every depressing emotion from a 'normal talk' failure absolutely exists as a form of 'What's WRONG with me?', 'Am I JUST NOT MEANT to be able to interact just as NORMALLY?', and most of all; 'Will this, all my slip-ups, the awkwardness, their alienations, EVER CHANGE?'. What hurts and troubles most is that no one, no one EVER teaches how to DO this; you just HAVE to learn it ON YOUR OWN, SOLELY on yourself and your own experiences; but it is by far one of the MOST important things to overcome if you ever want to even have a CHANCE to be able to truly LIVE and PROSPER WITH THE MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE in this world.
If such struggles, perhaps as everlasting GROWING PAINS even, were to be depicted, since only very little depict 'nerd characters' accurately as actual nerds(let alone nerd girls), the take on this kind of a real-nerd character to grow through these concerns would have added a special, whole another meaning.
Character growth would have included her having to get along with, learn how to, and practice socializing.
Before the Calamity, she would have had lived alone, preferred to be alone, not finding mostly anything other than her study to be that much more than a bulk. People would seem to avoid talking to her since who-knows-when, having it show either more subtly or bluntly, and it always went awkward on conversations whatever the context.
It wouldn't be that she wasn't trying; it would be that she had found and started her proper indulge in her interests MUCH earlier than others, which, while being a gift, would have also been what made her lack THAT much experience in conversing with others, consequently. She would sense that she wasn't very good at talking, and would always wonder what part had she said wrong, or even what was the general matter with HERSELF. She would have never gotten an answer to either of them, and would gradually come to shut herself away from others, it being the only workaround she could think of.
The only people she would be able to speak comfortably enough with would be Purah, Robbie, and Zelda, who would share the near-identical level of the genuine interest towards the ancient technology. She would always be grateful for them for sincerely listening to whatever she got up her sleeve. Sometimes, even they would not be able to exactly catch her words (for she was quite the work-centered eccentric herself, and the only one who surpasses them of that level), but they would still enjoy the talk and understand her well.
Purah, being the bright, bouncy extrovert, would have given no mind to how she spoke. Though sometimes, she would notice that something in the way she talked was somewhat off; but she would always just brush it away, being keen not to miss any of her detail of essence.
Robbie, being the articulated enthusiast, would have barely noticed any flaws in her speaking. He would focus only on the context of her words, never ceasing to praise her ingenuity and how profound the details were in her each and every composition. Which would be much to her flattery, since he would really quite be the fluent one in language, with all that verbose expressions he had subconsciously made practice(though he would never really realize and admit it).
Zelda, being the royal, yet ever so attentive scholar, would have always brightened up in fascination about every research she would conduct, every piece of gear she would create, and every shard of new knowledge of the profound, mechanical essence she would provide.
Because it would be while having her position of status give her much to learn, how to exploit (in prevailing in discussions and arguments) for persuasion and closure, and to engage in both formal and fluent interactions since early on, she would have been a well-schooled, well-trained natural in conversing, understanding, and reasoning with others.
Due to this she would always have known, noticing her slips, how her hinges would falter whenever the topic gets too far away from her technical themes, but she would never let any of these show, however. Even while subconsciously being concerned, she would have made it to herself that it would be nothing more than small troubles, for it is, after all, one of the traits what had built her absolute focus and who she is.
The scientist would have come to regard so as well, and see it as little to no trouble over time.
That is, until Zelda would request her to join her innermost group of opposing the Calamity.
At first, she would have faced difficulties, anxieties; of having to get along with the champions, people, who were just so... different. But perhaps that would have also been her motive to try to open up, one more time, as they were, she would notice, also different. She would see that they wouldn't be as wary, but rather curious, with some of them even excited to get to know about her.
Over time, with Zelda's words reassuring encouragement, she would come to familiarize herself with them. She would admire Mipha's integrity and adaptive agileness, Revali's extravagant derogations and acute, (physically) lethal shots, Link's robust tranquility and (both physically and mentally) insurmountable strength, and Urbosa's lengths of wisdom, with how her movement would always be as a concerted flow no matter the situation.
As for Daruk, he would have been the most influence for her to be again, she would be intimidated by his sheer bulk and voice at first but quickly find her peace and trust towards him; and over time, within herself as well.
For it would be, quite surprisingly, his booming laughter on whatever her words, especially on her slips where she would talk awkward, while never sounding as the mocking type with not even a hint of faux nor out of line; but somehow, being always the hearty, warming type of laugh, what would heal her to the extent of where she would finally be able to find the courage to confront directly, seek for help in regaining her once-lost growth.
In helping her to adjust her talk, even before she would actually come to confront herself, he would be rather blatant in giving suggestions for her speaking, but he always had a way so as not to disrupt the flow and her sentient. And as she never would have had received any similar sort of conversing directions before, that kind of straightforwardness would have been, perhaps, what would build the critical foundation for her to converse more clearly; to finally be, articulate.
Blakeworther headcanons. I don't have a specific theme or anything in mind. Go ham
Go ham, you say?
GO HAM, YOU SAY?
Sorry not sorry but this is about to become mega cringe time. Because I do *have* a specific set of headcanons preloaded but it is not at ALL what you asked for
I love crossovers, and I want to import the Bastard Trio into my current crossover hell fic. So I was kind of playing with their dynamic in my mind, and one of the ways I test out character dynamics is to send them on little imaginary missions to other crossover worlds in my mind. Now, I’m in the midst of watching a playthrough of Skyward Sword, which I have heretofore not experienced. And I’m not exactly finished with it. But for some mental warm-ups, I was thinking, “Okay. SkSw is the other big fandom I’m trying, and it’s as far from the G4 as you can get, so what if you put three sci-fi guys in a high fantasy setting and watched them go? What if they had to take Link’s journey, except their goal is most certainly not to save anything because they’re swaggering murderers? What would happen then?”
This...is that story. But only up through the part where I watched (the first of the Silent Realms). Maybe a part II later if I keep doing this?
-To blend in, our boys have gotten themselves some Loftwings. While Vincent’s and Victor’s look like ordinary giant shoebills...oh. Oh, dear. Albert...how did you manage to turn it into a Dream Eater so fast? Its beak is white, its feathers are black, it has no eyes and people are STARING.
-Albert refuses to discard or fix the Dream Eater Loftwing. It’s going to be his steed for this entire quest. Joy.
-NOBODY played fair when they had to race against Groose. They teamed up to knock him off his bird and it’s a miracle he survived. Especially since he wasn’t supposed to survive that.
-Like I said, I have no idea what their endgame goal is here because they’re certainly not trying to stop Demise. Or are they? Because they befriend Ghirahim right the heck away and it’s entirely possible they’re like “We’re from the future, this guy will shatter you, you deserve better, please leave Demise in the ground and join our team”
-And when I say they befriend Ghirahim right away I mean ESPECIALLY ALBERT
-Victor loves shopping at the bazaar because he can play-flirt with Peatrice and she’ll flirt right back. Meanwhile if the fortune teller attempts to reel in Vincent ONE MORE TIME there will be blood.
-Vincent Edgeworth is forcibly removed from the Skyloft bazaar
-Victor is the only person who remotely likes Fi, probably because she’s quite visibly supposed to be an AI and he is quite visibly part robot.
-They hit the ground and get going!
-Oh no. Kikwis. They hate Kikwis so much.
-The one that’s up in the tree, the three of them debate how to most quickly get down. Vincent: “We don’t bother and just say we did.” Victor: “If we threw a rock at it, it would fall out.” Albert: “I think we should set the whole tree on fire.”
-They get into the first dungeon, and you know that one segment where you have to vine-swing and the motion controls are so unforgiving? Vincent fell off those vines like twelve times and Victor and Albert lost their shit
-They get the beetle and now that thing’s a Dream Eater, too. Albert please stop doing this
-Back at Skyloft, doing sidequests is their least favorite thing. They do not give a SHIT about Gratitude Crystals if they don’t have to do so. The missing girl’s mom comes up to tell her problems and Vincent just goes “This affects me how?”. The brother says his sister went missing and Victor’s just like “We’ll take care of it!” and as soon as he’s out of earshot “Let’s not take care of it.” Cawlin hands them the love letter to deliver to Karane or Phoeni, Albert rips it in half in front of Cawlin, Cawlin starts bawling, Victor just goes “Actually I kinda wanted to do that one and see if we could start romance drama”
-Into Eldin Province and Mogmas are...only slightly less aggravating than Kikwis
-VINCENT ALMOST EXPLODES WHEN HE LEARNS THE KEY TO THE NEXT DUNGEON IS SPLIT IN PIECES AND HE HAS TO DIG IN THE DIRT FOR IT
-So then there’s that one passage in the valley where if you don’t just book it, your clothes will catch on fire. They blaze through it, and Fi determines that they’ve sustained no damage, which is good, because if they’d been exposed a moment longer, then surely one of them would be naked. Victor, hearing this, promptly tosses some personal item of his back into the high-heat area; “Oops. I dropped it. Go get it, Vincent.” Albert: “YES! GO GET IT, VINCENT!”
-It is only sheer willpower and Victor’s physical restraint that keeps Vincent from beating Ledd to a pulp.
-They actually kinda like hanging around the sacred springs, though. They’re tranquil places. A good way to just...not have to deal with all that noise. They can sit by the water quietly for a while, just watching it ripple.
-And back to business! They enter Lanayru, discover that the Time Crystals can revert this desert into a technological paradise and...yeah, it was way, WAY better in the past than it is now. They poke around some of the tech, taking notes for later in case they can reverse-engineer any of it.
-Dream Eater Beetle has been replaced by a brand-new shiny Hook Beetle! Albert, please don’t turn this one into a - GOD DAMMIT ALBERT. HOW ARE YOU EVEN DOING THIS WITH INANIMATE OBJECTS.
-They get in such a fight about how to place the generator switches. Victor is trying his best but he’s SURE they don’t arrange the way the other two are trying to tell him they arrange
-Every time they pass Ghirahim they stop to chat with him about how the demon uprising is going, also aren’t heroines just so freaking annoying? Zelda, Vanora, why are they always getting in the way?
-Victor of course tries to put the verbal moves on Impa. At this point Vincent and Albert know he just does this for fun, he’s faithful to the two of them, but still, they gotta do the obligatory eyeroll and groan
-”Yes, Victor. She’s very pretty. We’re gay, not blind”
-Vincent actually enjoys playing the Goddess Harp, surprisingly. He can just zone into the music.
-The Imprisoned gets out and hoo boy, they’re really not supposed to be DEFEATING evil just yet but Albert wants to cut off some TOES (and this ends up yielding them knowledge about the Isle of Songs so it’s all good)
-Scrapper annoys them all and visibly offends Victor.
-Vincent likes to use the bellows from the Eldin dungeon to blow away anyone who tries to rope him into a sidequest. Albert then goes “I’ve just realized the potential we have!” and tries to blow people off the edge of Skyloft.
-They hate the remlits until they find out that the remlits go feral at night and now they love the remlits but only after dark
-Into the Thunderhead for the Isle of Songs. And YET AGAIN WE CANNOT AGREE ON HOW TO SOLVE THE PUZZLE THAT LETS US INSIDE
-Down to Faron’s realm to get to the Silent Realm. Once they’re in there and have learned about the guardians...
-Vincent: “Now we have to be CAREFUL and QUICK or else the guardians will expel us immediately, maybe even kill us.” Victor: “You might want to tell him that.” Vincent: “Wh - ALBERT NO”
-Albert is investigating a dormant guardian close-up and decides “I want to take one of these home.”
-Vincent: “NO, Albert, we can’t...hmmmm. Actually, we could probably weaponize them...” Victor: “CAN WE NOT?”
-And then cue them risking life and limb not to get what they even came here for but to pick up AS MANY DARK RELICS AS THEY CAN CARRY
And that’s as far as I’ve watched in SkSw so far. Not sure whether or not I’ll keep using it as a Blakeworther ground, but there, have the AU you *never* wanted
Only for You
Dark Lord x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: Hello everybody I got a wonderful request from an ANON for another Dark Lord x Reader pairing that I was more than happy to do! I’ve got another Dark Lord x Reader pairing i’m working on along with Part 3 of my first Dark Lord x Reader pairing which I’ve now dubbed as An Unwilling Queen! Hope you enjoy Anon!
*NOT my GIF*
Word Count: 3k + (Sorry it’s really freaking long!)
If you like my stories you can check out my sideblog @jadegreywriting to see all of them and my masterlist without filtering through my main blog.
Prompt: OMG I love your writing. I think you’re so talented. I was wondering if you could take a request. I was hoping for a oneshot or two of a Lucifer (Sabrina) x soul mate reader who is shy, also a v powerful witch and friend of Sabrina. I like the idea of the Dark Lord being only weak for her. I was hoping for a oneshot of him meeting and finding out who she is to him, him falling in love and ending in smut.
*He’s also portrayed here in his angelic (hot) form, not the monster form.
Warnings: Smut at the end, kind of an underage reader, she’s eighteen but he’s like a billion years old so there’s that lol. Also kind of angsty.
I own all rights to this story and do not give permission for my stories to be published, translated or reposted anywhere else. The only places I have published my stories is here on Tumblr and on my AO3 account (LadyAuthor711)
This story is for 18+ ONLY. It contains sexual themes that are not suited for younger audiences so if you’re under 18 my blog and this story is not for you. Please make sure to read at your own discretion and remember that you are solely responsible for your content intake.
Tumblr media
A shadow seems to follow you wherever you go now. Like an ever-looming presence, that you feel like you can catch if you just turn your head at the right moment; but nothing is ever there. Sabrina says it’s all in your imagination.
“Or maybe there’s dark forces at play for your immortal soul.” She says in a silly ghoulish voice.
You laugh and lightly punch her arm. “I’m serious I feel like something or someone is watching me. Like constantly.”
Sabrina’s face went serious for a moment, seeing how tense you were. “Well auntie Hilda can make you something maybe to ease you. Or even find out if something is watching you.”
“But why would something be watching me?”
Sabrina laughed to herself. “Y/N. Despite what you may think, you’re a young, beautiful witch. Whose power if flourishing well beyond my own and even that of an experienced witch. And you haven’t even signed your name in the book of the beast. It’s like you are your own source of magic. You should be careful; a lot of people would do anything for power like that.”
You felt a chill going up your back. “I haven’t thought of it like that. Maybe Hilda should do a spell or even make a charm.”
“I think a charm would be perfect. A charm to ease your thoughts and to keep away whatever darkness seems to be sticking to you.”
“Thank you, Sabrina.” You smiled, linking your arm with hers.
“Of course, Y/N.” She said as you both starting walking towards Sabrina’s house. Unbeknownst to either of you, that that shadow you were talking about is in fact very real.
He watches as you both walk away from the shadows of the forest, irritated with himself at how close you are but he can’t just reach out and grab you; taking you into the darkness. He knows though you’d never go with him like that; no. He’d have to wait and win you, until you desired him as much as he did you.
He felt a clench in his chest as you walked further away from his vantage point and he hated how weak he felt and how much he desired you, wanted you; how much he craved you with the very fiber of his being. But for you, he’d wait. He’d wait in the shadows for as long as it takes.
****
You were immediately greeted by Hilda as you and Sabrina walked into the house. Zelda sat at the table smoking a cigarette and reading the paper about some gruesome murder that made the headlines that day.
“Hello my darlings.” Hilda said cheerfully as she pounded some dough for whatever culinary confection, she was making that day.
“Hi, Hilda, Zelda.” You said greeting both of them, despite Zelda only grunting as acknowledgement.
“Auntie Hilda. Do you think you could make a charm for Y/N?” Sabrina said immediately cutting to the case as she leaned on her elbows on the counter next to Hilda.
“What for my lovely? Stress? I doubt you need a love charm. You’re much too beautiful to need that.” Hilda said booping your nose.
You couldn’t help the blush that crept up your face as you slightly shook your head at her comment about you being beautiful.
“No. Auntie.” Sabrina said smiling, but her smile soon fell from her face. “Y/N, thinks someone is following her.”
“I was hoping you could find out if someone actually is stalking me or if it’s just all in my head.” You said gaining Hilda’s attention.
“A protection charm? Of course, my lovely, I’ll whip that up as soon as I throw these apple crumbles in the oven and we’ll get straight to work.”
****
An hour later you had a protection charm that was laced with eucalyptus leaves to ease your paranoia and stress. However, when Hilda tried to scry to see if someone was following you, the crystal would just keep spinning never landing on anything. Which indicated to Hilda that everything was hunky dory and that it was just probably stress from school that was making you so paranoid.
When you left Sabrina’s, you felt a sense of ease radiate over you as Hilda’s charm in your pocket worked its magic. However, as soon as you stepped outside of Sabrina’s house after saying goodbye to everyone you felt it again. That feeling that there was a pair of eyes that were constantly glued to you, watching your every move. You clutched the charm in your pocket tighter and began to walk home.
****
The following was Friday night and Sabrina, you and the rest of the gang were headed to a house party. It wasn’t your usual method of spending a Friday night but Sabrina assured you that is was exactly what you needed to help you unwind a bit. So, you took her at her word and you even let her dress you up for the occasion.
And throughout the night you actually thought Sabrina’s plan was working you hadn’t felt the intensity of someone’s gaze on you all night as you danced with your friends, letting yourself get lost and all your worries sliding from your shoulders.
After a while of dancing though the need for water was staggering so you told Sabrina you’d be right back and walked away from the group in search of water. You walked towards the back of the house where the beer and sodas were and tried searching for water.
“Need some help there?” A husky voice asked from the dark corner.
You gave a little jump and clutched your chest. “Oh my God you scared me!” You said smiling a bit at how much of a scaredy cat you were.
“I’m sorry.” He said as he stepped out of the shadows. “The last thing I intended to do was scare you.”
He was beautiful. Staggeringly beautiful, with dark brown locks and piercing green eyes that seemed to glow even from the darkness of the shadows. You felt the air leave your lungs, as you gaped at him before you quickly turned back to your earlier task of looking for water; your cheeks burning.
He looked at you curiously, this would be his one chance with you. To have you alone and completely his for the time being. And as he took you in, this stunning woman who he’s been on the edge of obsession over for months. He can already feel how inside yourself you are, so much so that he can practically reach out and feel the wall that you’ve built to contain back the powerful witch and woman that you are. And God how he wanted to blow that wall to pieces.
“What’s your name?” He asked, trying to get you to look at him again.
“Y/N.” You said to him but still not turning back towards him.
“I’m Luce.” He said holding out his hand for you to shake. Which you thought was a bit odd, but you reached your hand out taking his large one. When your skin touched his you felt a spark between you two, you tried to pull away from sheer instinct but he kept your hand firmly in his, letting the warmth of his hand radiate into your whole body making you feel warm to the touch.
You pulled your hand away and he let you this time. You saw how intense his gaze was and ducked from it, pushing your hair behind your ears. “Luce?” you said smiling shyly.
“God given I’m afraid.” He said with a knowing smirk on his face, that you couldn’t help but feel like there was more to that smirk. But before you could say more, he spoke up again. “Why do you do that?”
“Do what?” You asked, turning back towards him, but avoided looking into his intense green eyes.
“You have no reason to cower from me Y/N. Nor do you have any reason to be bashful. I find you most intriguing.”
You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“I can see it plain as day, the way you hold yourself, speak, avoid eye contact and even how you suppress your magic.” He said and you immediately snapped your head towards him. “Yes, Y/N. I can feel your magic just radiating off of you, but you keep it contained; I can feel that too. You have no reason to be so inside of yourself.” He said taking another step closer to you. “You’re a highly intelligent and stunning young woman. That anyone would grovel on their knees to have you.” He said in a low whisper as he leaned towards you and surprisingly you found yourself leaning slightly towards him as well.
His soft lips brushed against yours sending that same electric shock throughout your body; but only this time it was a thousand times more intense.
You let out a gasp and quickly pulled away from him, even though it killed him inside to let you pull away from him; he did it none the less. He knew he had his hooks into you now, he just had to wait for you to realize it. Which wouldn’t take long.
Suddenly you found yourself drawn to him again, and you took a step towards his large, tall frame and reached up for him. You kissed him gently, reciprocating his kiss in kind; then deepening it. You tangled your fingers in his dark curls feeling how soft they were and his large hands gently wrapped themselves around your waist pulling you closer into his hot body; being careful not to scare you off like a frightened animal. His tongue pressed against your lips, seeking entrance and you parted for him, letting him invade your senses; needing him to tear down every wall you’ve ever built and giving you that freedom from yourself. His grip on your waist grew tighter, as he crushed you against him, feeling that his body was hard as a rock against yours.
When you finally broke away from him to catch your breath. He looked down at you longingly and brushed a piece of hair from your face.
“There she is.” He smirked.
Before you could ask what, he meant though suddenly you heard someone calling your name.
“Y/N?” It was Sabrina. “There you are? Where have you been? You’ve been gone for like the whole party.” She said coming into the room, you felt heat bloom across your cheeks as you were about ready to explain the situation of you being alone with some stranger making out by the soft drinks; but when you turned around Luce was gone.
“Y/N?” Sabrina asked, concern lacing her voice.
“Yeah- I” You said stuttering. “I’m sorry I guess I just lost track of time. The party is over?” You asked, feeling like the floor was about to fall out from underneath you.
“Yeah it’s been over for a bit now. I’ve just come to find you-” She quickly cut herself off. “Are you okay Y/N?” She said walking over to you, and placing her hand on your shoulder.
“Yeah I’m fine. I just- let’s just go home.” You said shaking your head, trying to clear the fog from your mind and trying to decide whether what just happened was actually real or not.
As you walked with Sabrina out of the little back room where you just shared a kiss with a complete you looked back to see if he would magically reappear as fast as he disappeared but he wasn’t there.
******
As you laid there in bed, you thought about the events of the night about Luce and his mysterious disappearance. Was he even real? Or have you finally lost your mind completely. You tossed and turned for what felt like eternity on your bed as your thoughts kept drifting to Luce. Thoughts about how soft his lips were, his large hands and how they felt against your hips; desperately needing them to go lower, and how his body felt against yours like it was meant to be there.
You sat up in bed, it’s obvious that you’re never going to be able to sleep; when your thoughts keep drifting in dangerous directions. You got up from your bed and looked out the window into the night that was brightly lit by the full moon hanging in the sky.
Maybe it was the full moon that was driving you crazy? But as you looked down to the forest edge that surrounded your house, you knew exactly what it was. Luce was standing there, staring up at you, even from here you could feel his eyes begging you to join him in the shadows.
You didn’t know what compelled you but you darted from your bedroom and did just that. You raced down the stairs taking them two at a time before you got to the back door and flung it open. But, stopped in the doorframe, making sure that he was still standing there in the shadows of the forest; he was. You walked towards him, slower than you did coming down the stairs but with the same sure-footedness and determination. You were determined to find some answer from this mysterious character for all you knew he was the reason you felt like you were being stalked.
When you approached him, he had a certain softness in his eyes as he looked down at you, taking you in again. You tried to shake off the warm feeling building inside of you, in order to get some answers.
“Who are you?”
He smiled but it held a hint of sadness and pain in it. He reached his hand up to your face and ran the back of his knuckles softly down your cheek; sending that bolt of electricity through you again, making you shiver. “You know who I am, Y/N. You’ve known from the first moment I spoke to you tonight. Didn’t you?” He said his smile broadening just a hair.
His clever girl. So clever, so beautiful.
You take a step back from his touches and he feels an ache deep in his chest.
Luce. Lucifer. It made sense, your paranoia, that sense of foreboding and that someone was watching you. It was him. But why?
“Why? Why me?” you asked, feeling a sliver of fear creep under your skin, at the idea of what he was capable and if he truly desired you why didn’t he just take you? The devil is not really known for being hesitant when it comes to taking what he wants.
He didn’t miss a beat in answering your question. “Because you’re beautiful. And powerful and the only woman in the universe who has bewitched me so; to the point where I can scarcely breathe without you being near me. Because just your presence alone coaxes the roiling place where my soul should be.” He advanced a step towards you, closing that small space between you once again. “Be with me Y/N. Be mine eternally and the universe shall be yours.” He said before pausing a beat and looking at you with such desperation and longing. “Please.” He whispered as he reached out to take a piece of your loose hair and twirl it softly around his finger.
Seeing that look on his face, you’d never seen that before; let alone ever had somebody feel that way about you. You felt that familiar pain in your chest, and knew what he felt; that loneliness that seems bottomless, but he could be your anchor and you could be his.
You reached out your hands to his chest, your touch surprising him. Your hands ventured up his chest and wrapped around his neck, pulling his lips down to crash onto yours. Your kisses gentle at first then turning needy as you deepened the kiss and tangled your fingers in those dark locks of his; wanting more of him.
He didn’t hesitate, to bend down and wrap his hands around your ass and hoist you up and wrap your legs around his waist. He finally had you and he’ll be damned if he ever lets you go. He would give you everything you desire, whether it be jewels, power, or the universe in the palm of your hand. He would do anything for you, because you bewitched him; he is withthin your thrall as much as you are withthin his.
You clutched tightly to his neck as he carried you towards the house, no worries that you’d be interrupted since no one was home. You placed sweet kisses on his neck and sucked under his jaw earning a growl of pleasure from him.
“Are you sure about this Y/N? Once your mine, I’ll never let you go.”
You placed your finger on his lips shushing him. “Be with me. Tonight, and all the nights to come. I’m tired of being withthin myself so much that I don’t allow love withthin my heart.”
He kissed you again, all of his longing and desire was pressed into that kiss as he kneeled down on the soft carpeted floor of the living room in front of the fireplace, which now had a fire roaring in its hearth. You sat on his knees as he knelt on the ground, cradling you to his chest; before laying you down softly on the carpet.
The fire played with the features of his face, making him look even more breathtaking than he did in the moonlight. You reached up and cupped his face, pulling him back down to you as you kissed you reached up to his chest and started unbuttoning his shirt, removing it swiftly and exposing his hard chest. He did the same to you, tracing his hands down your abdomen and finding the band of your sweat pants and dipping his hand inside, cupping your sex.
You let out a low groan, arching your hips into his touches, needing so much more from him. When suddenly, his finger dipped inside of you, making you gasp.
“So sweet for me Y/N.” He purred in your ear, and watched as you were coming undone under his touches. He took his thumb and rubbed soft circles on your clit making you moan louder. He watched you intently as you threw your head back, relishing his touches reaching for your release and when it came it was like a wave crashing over you.
He ate your moans as your walls clenched around his finger, before pulling out of you and reaching for the band of your sweats again and pulling down, exposing you to him. He drank you in and looked like he was going to eat you alive; which was definitely something he was going to do later, but not now. Now he’d take it slow with you, unless you said otherwise.
“Are you ready for me sweetness?” He asked his intense green eyes, blown wide. You nodded and reached for his pants but he stood up and you watched as he undid his pants and pulled them done his legs and discarded them easily, and kneeling back before you. He kissed up your body, and sucked on your neck lightly before he kissed your lips again. You could feel him line up with your entrance and only a moment passed before he pushed inside of you.
You both let out a low groan that seemed to mix together. He let you get used to him for only a moment before he started to move, his thrusts were slow and sensual as he rolled his hips into you. You gripped onto his back, sinking your nails into his back, and earning a low moan as your reward. He reached between your bodies and found your clit again. He rubbed it in faster circles, making you whimper from the pleasure.
“Luce.” You moaned, “I’m so close.”
“Let go sweetness. I’m here now.” He mumbled into your neck, placing sloppy kisses just under your ear making you shiver and adding to the increasing tsunami that was about to crash over you. He held your gaze as your orgasm ripped through you and he was soon to follow you into that sweet bliss.
So I finished Age of Calamity
[spoilers]
Thanks to the beauty of holiday time off I have logged in 40 plus hours into this game and just beaten it, so naturally I’m gonna talk about it a bit. I’ll save the spoiler stuff for a little later though.
The game
This game might be my favorite game of 2020, or at least top three. Not just because of the world, but because everything is over the top! So far I’ve done 131 missions and 90% has the consistent energy of “we are fucking under attack” and it’s almost overwhelming in the best way possible. It really felt like you were on a battlefield field. Your map is just a sea of red and it’s your job to clean it up. What kept me engaged in the fights was all of the character’s different uses runes. I found myself constantly ordering my teammates to face certain enemy types that match best with how they fight.
Originally, I really wanted to be fair and rotate between characters. That didn’t last long. Mipha and Link in my opinion don’t have a single bad move. The bias only got worse whenever the master sword is obtained. Before that, my Link had a spear most of the time but that sword is just handy. Especially with item drop rate and attack range on it. In the end, my strongest characters were Link 74, Mipha 70, Impa 60, and Zelda 60. It’s been awhile since I played the first hyrule warriors so I can’t remember if they had the level up system were you can pay for experience but or definitely came in handy. Combine that with how many guardians were in this game and I quickly found out I needed Link with a shield on a regular bases. I also learned I didn’t forget how to time a vase amount of blocks and dodges.
The amount of characters you get to play quickly became too massive for me to juggle, but they all had their own merits for the most part, though I did find a few of the gimmick characters a bit of a hassle. My opinion on who was viable was constantly changing as I unlocked more combos. Originally, wasn’t the biggest fan of Urbosa. That second and fifth combo modifier changed everything.
The real portion of the game that really kept me wanting to play more was not only the ability to order other people, but seeing them fight along side you. I’m a softie for things like this, but genuinely felt relieved or hyped whenever I was fighting something crazy and I can see Impa rushing over towards me while text from soldiers scream “Just keep pushing!!!!” The AI wasn’t dumb either! There’s plenty of moments that controllable and NPC characters will just go where they’re supposed to, or kill targeted enemies. I remember not wanting to switch over to Link because he had low health, so as I’m running over to him as Mipha to heal him, the madman kills the Lynel. Ran all the way over there to watch him flex. That combined with elemental reactions you can cause in a fight, and the entire spectacle just felt elevated. The feeling of fighting three Lynel’s at once becomes a little less scary when you have a lightning rod and puddles everywhere.
The only negative I found in a gameplay perspective is some of the resource gathering. Gaining the trophy notes for killing a type of enemy isn’t too much of a hassle, but I found getting the materials they drop to be a bit harder, even with increased drop rate statuses. Most of this I find irritating for two reasons. One, specialized enemies show up in relatively small groups in a majority of missions, so getting things from them could be a flop altogether. Number two, a fair amount of these missions take a decent chunk of time if you’re being thorough and killing as much as possible. So grinding is a pain. Fortunately most missions a majority of what you need . If the game wanted chu chu jelly, I knew one of the missions coming up had chu chu as an enemy. You could also keep track of what you needed with material sensor that told you when you had enough.
The story
I’ll be honest, I was upset with this game for a hot second. It was advertised as a prequel to BoTW and while sad, I was truly invested to playing the events that lead to the fall of the champions. What this game didn’t tell you is it’s like most LoZ games, on its own separate part of the timeline. This isn’t the story of they lost. It’s the story of how they win, thanks to the little adorable robot mascot that has the ability to not only show the future, but bring people from the future; the champion’s descendants. At first I was upset with this. Mainly because I’m a little tired of time travel plots and it felt really out of place here. However, time travel gave way more to this game than what I expected this game to have in the first place. It allowed at least six more playable characters that wouldn’t have been possible in the other timeline, and a wellspring of interactions through missions. Every time Mipha was with Sidon, I smiled. Having Urbosa being this super encouraging role model to Riju was so nice since BoTW had expressed just how much those two admired and missed those people. Revali was nice to Teba! They were vibing. Even the soldier commentary on the new champions were a treat. So I got over the time travel issue pretty quick. It made things sad as well when the new generation leaves because they’re going back to a time where they lost it all. There was no great union that took place across hyrule to fight Ganon and their beloved champions failed. I do appreciate that the diverge in the timeline really takes place on the day they’re supposed to die, moments before the final blow. It still lets the player see the definitive moment where good was supposed to lose.
The “new” villain is meh. I wouldn’t really say he stands out. His entire thing is thinking he’s gonna win because he doesn’t realize that he isn’t seeing hyrule’s future. He’s seeing another hyrule’s future. What comes out of his character is cool though because it gives a different, yet same finale boss. I wasn’t expecting to basically fight a giant Ganondorf. Honestly, you can kinda say you fought Demise. At least aesthetically speaking. Or Yuga. This game has also made me care about robot. Something I haven’t done in awhile. A few scenes near the end felt hammy, but also amazingly realistic to how a lot of people would feel when someone breaks your favorite thing. The war was already personal, but now it’s really personal. Quests open up after the game that plays on those emotions too. It’s very clever.
Overall, Age of Calamities story felt like a love letter to everyone who loves this rendition of hyrule and the characters in it. They even another one named Sooga, who just might be my favorite. That man has no choice but to be the brain and muscle of the Yiga. It kinda makes me sad he’s introduced here because you can assume he didn’t make it in the other timeline, so he has no descendents. The amount of serotonin I felt just seeing all of these characters fighting together as the absolutely conquer the battlefield was more than satisfying. Definitely worth the money. I don’t know if they can, but Nintendo might wanna consider some sort of audio patch. The mixing is bad in certain parts. Voice lines get really quiet. Other than that, this game is real solid. I’d give it an 8.5/10
Side note
The music is really good. Especially the Zoe’s demain track. Also, I never noticed frame rate dropping or lag, except on two occasions. Both of these happened to be me pushing the game to its limits. The first is being surrounded by enemies in a small space as Mipha. Creating the water vortex and raining down bombs makes the game wanna cry a little. The second one is a similar case. Sidon’s fifth or sixth combo made the made the game drop frames because it’s incredibly fast, involves timing, makes a vortex, and i was in a small space with tons of enemies. Other than that, not even Urbosa’s or Riju’s lightning made the game freak out from what I noticed. That may have something to do with me never using them in a place where there’s constant rain. That might actually be the cause of the drop in combination of everything else.
So I’ve got a FS+ Lab Experiment AU where Green, Red, Blue, Vio and Shadow are lab experiments with different powers at an illegal research facility and Zelda, Erune, and Vaati are detectives working on the case about the facility and are tasked with taking care of these kids they found.
I’m going to talk about it under the cut, but it’s a little dark so uh be warned I guess? There’s death mentions around every freaking corner.
So first of all Zelda, Erune, and Vaati are adults who work together at a detective agency. The agency is very famous, and Zelda’s dad owns it. Zelda and Vaati’s parents used to be business partners before Vaati’s father died and he moved in with his uncle, Ezlo, so they’ve been very close their whole lives despite their personalities clashing drastically with each other.
Erune and Zelda were roommates in college and became best friends extremely fast. The trio planned to start training to be detectives at Zelda’s dad’s agency since they love solving mysteries and have always been interested in work like that. Eventually they became some of the best detectives there.
Zelda also has a housemate, Link, who’s training to be a doctor and is a part-time volunteer at an elementary school, where he helps out in the nurse’s office and is also a hall monitor. Vaati had been his English tutor in college and had convinced Zelda to let Link live with her after I... think he got kicked out of his house? For some reason? It’s never really explained and Link avoids the subject like the plague but that’s everyone’s guess.
((Oh yeah by the way Vaati is Minish Cap Vaati, little-bit-nicer Vaati, not giant-purple-ball-of-evil Vaati from Four Swords. That’s Ezlo’s actual son and Vaati’s cousin. We never really see him.))
So Zelda, Vaati, and Erune get assigned to work on a case about an illegal facility doing illegal experiments on living people. They’re supposed to find out where it is, what’s going on, and what type of experiments, and then after that they have to shut it down, possibly by force, and save as many experiments there as they can.
So, when they go to literally storm the place with a bunch of guards, it immediately turns into a battlefield and Zelda, Vaati, and Erune find a room full of almost every experiment in the building. Sort of. There are over thirty experiments in there, all of them dead and hanging from the ceiling, most by branches that impaled them. About a third seem to actually have been killed by the branches, a few are burned, and a lot of them are turned to stone.
They find one of the surviving experiments and they infer that he was one of the ones that killed the other experiments based on his abilities, which are nature-based. This is Green, a nine-year-old who is very scared and can speak very little, extremely broken English.
He introduces them to Red, who is a nine-year-old fire sprite experiment and was the one who did the burning. He’s very nice and immediately hugs Zelda as a greeting. The two tell them where the other three living experiments are and the detectives meet Blue, who is eight years old and unlike Red and Green can’t speak at all and instead just kind of hisses at them angrily until he accepts that they’re not going to hurt any of them. He’s a sea monster experiment whose most defining physical feature is that his skin is blue, he glows in the dark, and his hair is made of octopus tentacles. He’s also got fins on his arms and back.
Finally, they find Vio, who is a gorgon-siren fusion experiment who can turn people to stone and has a singing voice that can hypnotize people. His eyes are covered by a blindfold so he can’t see, though he has excellent hearing and the snakes he has for hair try and help him get around. He doesn’t understand what they’re saying yet, however. He can speak fluent English because one of his powers is voice-based and therefore he should probably know how to speak.
He then says he’s not a very good teacher because of how little English he was able to teach Green and Red, and then Shadow appears! Yay! The two have a very strange argument about how Vio’s actually a great teacher, and while Shadow appears to be fluent in English, his sentences are very short. Shadow is eight, and Vio is seven, making him the youngest. After an interrogation from Vio about their true intentions, Zelda convinces them to also let them take them to safety away from the facility.
They round up the five kids and have to make their way through a pretty violent fight in the entrance hall, because those workers weren’t going down without a fight. Green and Blue are pretty slow and Vio can’t see, so Vaati, Erune, and Zelda carry them out while Red and Shadow are behind them. They make it out of the facility and soon find out that Shadow’s right wing has been shot and it’s basically shredded from the bullet. They use Vio’s blindfold, making him keep his eyes closed so he won’t accidentally turn them to stone, to slow the bleeding and drive back to the agency. Shadow falls asleep before they get there from exhaustion and Vio makes Zelda carry him instead of waking him up, insisting that Shadow waking up would result in him being in a lot of pain and that it was better to let him sleep.
((RAVIO IS THE RECEPTIONIST AT THE AGENCY AND IS PROMPTLY TERRIFIED OF THE EXPERIMENTS UNTIL ZELDA EXPLAINS THAT THEY’RE LITERALLY CHILDREN))
So they get to the agency and meet with Zelda’s dad and agree that since Zelda and Link’s house is the largest and Zelda’s already befriended the experiments, it’d be best for them to stay there for the forseeable future.
So they get to Zelda’s house and Link immediately befriends the kids because he’s really good with kids and then he freaks out because Shadow’s still bleeding quite a lot and immediately goes to stitch his wound up and bandage it. Vio goes with them. Shadow absolutely refuses to let Link numb his wing beforehand because he hates losing control of anything, including his nerves, so Link reluctantly agrees because Vio’s basically giving him a death glare despite his eyes being shut and he’s kind of scared of them both. So Shadow just keep’s Vio’s hand in a death grip as Link stitches his wound shut without any numbing and Zelda scolds him later, which Shadow promptly ignores and insists it wasn’t that bad.
Link and Zelda discuss going shopping for them all the next day and how that would work, because they really want to bring them along but only Red and Vio look somewhat normal, and Red’s skin is grey and Vio has snakes for hair. They also really want to send them to school at some point, but they decide to hold that conversation off for a later date and instead help the kids all get situated, which results in a pillow fight that Link lost and no one knows who one but they assume either Red or Shadow.
That’s kind of where it’s left off for now but like. I worked pretty hard on this and I’m probably going to post more later, all tagged with warnings because again, this AU is a bit dark.
Gaps Between Worlds || Live, Love, Link
Tumblr media
Nothing keeps a story going like a love interest. In almost every adventure story, at some point, the hero flirts with love, falls into it, is blinded by it, or is even betrayed by it. Love is the strongest emotional connection we share as humans, a double edged sword that can drive us, but also hinder us. Even when a story lacks a love interest, the listeners might begin to imagine one just to keep themselves interested. One adventure series has lacked cannon love for such a long time, it's hard to imagine how it’s been kept alive in our collective consciousness for as long as it has. The Legend of Zelda has jump-cut to Link saving Zelda so many times, but remains nebulous on what kind of relationship blossoms from their journey. As a longtime fan, I have been starving for more from the world of Hyrule, and I think fans across the world agree with me. The official Nintendo Hyrule Timeline wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for pressure from the fans. Before that release, it had been locked inside the mind of Miyamoto, creator of the series. But it didn’t really whet my appetite, because what I wanted is to know of Link and Zelda. Today, we are going to explore the facets of Link and Zelda’s many re-incarnated relationships, which could have turned into love, and where they must have gone after Gannon was sealed and their adventure came to an end.
Tumblr media
Before we go any further, the usual caveats to my writing, just so you can get where my head is at. First, I am not going to be super concerned with minute details of the timeline in its purest sense. It has a tenuous linear connection from one game to the next, but it still can provide a little fun for us to speculate on. Second, I have completed every mainline adventure with two exceptions. I have made it to the end of Link’s Adventure and Twilight Princess, but I just never walked up those steps to beat Gannon. I can’t really put my finger on why, but usually I just lost interest by the time I made it to the end of the game. Everything else, including the GB, GBA, and DS releases, I have completed.
In the beginning, one of the most bizarre parts of the overall Zelda lore is how little we actually discuss Link’s obligation to do anything for Zelda. As the games mature, they motivate Link in more realistic ways, but I felt that they mostly lacked a real punch. Lets imagine you DID NOT read the manual for the NES titles, the original LoZ, it just starts by breaking the 4th wall. I always thought it was funny that it just drops you into the mountains with absolutely no direction, as if to say, “You bought the game, dummy, do something! Press a button… ooo… check out that cave!” However, what actually happens is Link saves Zelda’s handmaid, Impa, from an attack by some of Gannon’s henchmen. She then begs him to find the 8 fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom, which Zelda has hidden in 8 dungeons, and he just resolves to do it. In the next game though, she’s just struck with Sleepy Disney Princess disease. Classic. But have you ever noticed that true love’s kiss wasn’t an option here? That’s because Link is not her true love in this incarnation, so he has to kill the curse maker. LoZ and Link’s Adventure are directly related, so we know that in between the two games, they never became lovers. And I don’t know if you need any more proof about these games, but if you ever watched the 80’s Zelda cartoon… you’d know she’s better off.
Tumblr media
Climbing up this timeline, we end up at the incredible Link To The Past, a story that’s titular description kind of defies its storyline unless you are really paying attention. Either way, the game has Link, a descendant of Hyrule Knights, being woken up by a psychic message from Zelda. As usual, Link has no real discernible parentage, but he does start off with an uncle. As I grew up, I often wondered if this was his real uncle or the Asian kind of uncle, just an older man with the same familial distance as an actual uncle, just not actually related. (It goes without saying that the west has this kind of uncle as well, but rarely does it rear its head as ubiquitously as in the east) Who knows what happened to his parents, the game never really goes into it. Either way, he runs into his possibly real uncle after following Zelda’s request, only, he is mortally wounded, and with his final breath, he begs Link to take up his blade and his responsibility. Again, he is motivated simply by some sense of obligation, but there is never a moment's glance of flirtation or love. By the end of the game, he revives his Uncle, the Priest, and the King, only to get on a boat and end up ship wrecked on Koholint island, where he dreams up a girl who is much more likely to become someone he could have a life with rather than Zelda.
Tumblr media
Let’s take a quick moment to recognize Link has about 5 or 6 games that have nothing to do with his relationship to Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, Majora’s Mask, and Minish Cap to name a few. In these games, it rarely meditates on his relationship to his previous adventure or the girl he left behind. Link is a very forward thinking… little boy? Adolescent? Teenager? It depends on the game. The more I think about this, maybe the more obvious it really is supposed to be. Zelda, Link, and Gannon are reborn into conflict over and over again. It’s possible that the stories that we play through are the only time they are born into a point of conflict. Basically, Link and Zelda might be born into a world without each other. Maybe the world only falls into chaos when all 3 of them are born. Maybe only when a certain amount of power accumulates on the dark side. The story just makes room for whatever it finds appropriate.
Climbing up the timeline, we get to the only game that implied young romance, Ocarina Of Time. Granted, it kind of dashes this with Majora’s Mask, but it's possible he could return to Hyrule for love. He is only 10. Still, in OoT, Link is the only character that keeps his memory of both the young timeline and the teen timeline. When you think about it, Link is pretty mature for a 10 year old, but waking up in the body of a 17 year old would throw you a bit. People in the future might have found him odd… if they weren’t scattered to the winds and mostly worried about famine, death, and Gannon. In both his young and teen timeline, the Zora princess is very interested in him, and yet, the game still ends with a longing look between Zelda and Link, Link remembering everything, Zelda new to the whole thing. Now, I am willing to admit that as a kid, I probably misread this as a longing look, as an adult, it's really just the culmination of Link’s struggle to finally right all the wrongs, but I was a young shipper, and I wanted everyone to fall in love. (You are reading the thoughts of a boy who was super upset that Ash wasn’t awakened by a kiss from Misty (or Pikachu), and instead the tears of all the Pokemon. I almost walked out of the theater. I was a fresh-faced 13.) Given everything we know about both games, and that we know the timeline splits here, it would stand to reason that since in either case, triumphant or not, Link doesn’t end up making baby Link and Linkles with Zelda. In the Triumphant Timeline Child Era, none of the games end with Link in love, including Twilight Princess. In the Adult Era, the Wind Waker series of games always finds Link closely aligned with Zelda, but the whole cell-shaded, PG universe basically ensures that all the people of Hyrule are grown out of the ground, like palm trees on the beach. In the end, Link always makes for the nearest boat or horse and follows the sun, trying to escape the PTSD that haunts him.
Tumblr media
Finally, at the very beginning of the timeline is the largely maligned Skyward Sword. As of this writing, SS is the supposed beginning to the entire legend. It is also one of the few games where there does seem to be an infatuation between Zelda and Link. Throughout the game, they share what looks to be a mild flirtation. When I thought about this budding romance, I began to think it only appears that way because of some cultural filters. First, Nintendo likes to make games for kids, so they aim to get an E rating by the ESRB. So if we ratchet that up to M, the standard for modern day games if you want people to take them seriously, we can adjust the love meter on scale with E = Sesame Street and M = Breaking Bad. They might as well be engaging in some hard sexting, maybe a couple of low-cut Link bathroom mirror selfies. Don’t worry, he has his famous hat over the goods. Why do you think its shaped like that? Secondly, mild flirting in Japan is the equivalent of hardcore furry S&M in America. In actuality, what you are really seeing is the courtship of Link in a Wolf costume and Zelda dressed as a Fire Keese batting eyes at each other. Truly, in this world, Link and Zelda are destined for each other. They are the only freaks in the sky! With this assumption, I can conclude that the legend only continues because once, at the very beginning of their timeline, the Triforce of Courage and Wisdom banged it out. This could mean there is a whole series of games we have never played where the timeline is split at the top. One in which they have children and one where they don’t. Personally, I look forward to their kids journey in The Legend of Steve, the new holder of the Triforce of Wisdom. Let a girl save the boy for once!
Tumblr media
There is always hope for our legendary heroes. You may not want them to be joined in glorious, child-making coitus, but I always have. I have always found it odd that it doesn’t end like most JRPG’s with a very obvious death of the “mains” so that love can’t blossom, or with a lavish royal wedding. The worst part is that often, Link has many love interests, but none of them are Zelda. There is some hope for them in the new Breath of the Wild timeline, which is supposedly the furthest in the future of the “official” timeline, so much so that there is no connective tissue left, so it might as well be a “new beginning”. I would actually hate for them to finally, really, fall in love in the BotW universe, mostly because it's my least favorite Zelda game of all time, squeaking past Skyward Sword and Wind Waker.  All 3 of which I dislike for a combination of gameplay-style and story, though honestly, the best part of BotW is the story. It's just a game I never want to play again. Rambling aside, I look forward to the fate of love between Zelda and Link in their next chapter. Maybe we’ll finally play as their love child some day.
Linked universe. The young one in green...
Tags: @ozmav
*was thinking about hyrule Warriors. Wanted to do a little bit of angst and work on Warriors character so here ya go (I was bored)*
Warriors had been with the other links for over two months now. They had unofficial started to call him captain and he was starting to use his voice more. It was amazing how quickly they bond, granted that doesn’t mean they always get along; he and Legend were maybe seconds away from killing each other on most day. But it felt nice, if felt familiar.
Warriors signed to himself as he started to get lost in thought. He had been first to explain his adventure that earn him his triforce of courage, seeing how it was a very similar situation they were in. However he’s been looking for someone sense the timelines were ‘fix’ and despite Warriors observers he still couldn’t find him.
Warriors looked around the campsite. Almost everyone was gather around the fire eating, well everyone but Time however the old man was checking the perimeter. From past experience, he knew the group would break off when they finished eating; some would try to sleep, others would try to repair stuff. So if Warriors decided its better to asked questions then just stew in his silence.
“How old were you when you started your adventures?” Warriors asked to the silence. Most looked back at him with confusion.
“Why?” Legend looked at him narrowing his eyes, likely about to say something snarky like normal.
“Just...please” was all Warriors would say, as if he couldn’t find out how to explain it.
“Puf whatever, I started by adventures at 13” Legend said.
“16” Twilight popped in
“12” Wind chimed In happily.
It seemed most of the links had started their adventures somewhere between the ages of 12 to 16.
“And the old man?” Warriors asked to Twilight, after all he was the closes to pops.
“I think 13” Twilight said with a shrug.
“That can’t be right....” Warriors mutter to himself. He knew that the other warriors was a link, he had the triforce and everything; so why wasn’t he here.
“Care to explain captain?” Legend asked, again looking more pissed off.
“It’s something that happen in my adventure” Warriors explains “you all know that my adventure had timelines merging and meeting. It’s why I knew Wind and wasn’t freaking out by this”
Almost everyone nodded in response. Warriors swallow the lump in this throat that had developed. “Their was another Link, one besides Wind. I figure it was one of you younger but it doesn’t make sense. You all said you started your adventures in your teens, this kid wasn’t a teen”
Most of the Link were now fully invested.
“Maybe it was just Four, you know how short he is, he could have been mistake for a child” Legend offered.
“Hey!!” Four yelled.
“No it wasn’t Four. Four said he started his adventure at 12” Warriors said in a matter of fact tone.
“How old was he then?” This time Sky asked.
“10” Warriors reply.
It was like everything went silent, the links stopped speaking, the wind stopped blowing through the trees. Even the bonfire had lost its ability to crack as Warriors said the age of the mysterious hero.
“10? Are you sure?” Sky asked again as the other nodded their head in agreement. Most couldn’t imagine taking on their adventures so young.
“10 at the most” Warriors said making the color drain from the other Links “maybe 8 at the least”
“Are you sure?” Hyrule asked the war hero.
“Yeah I’m sure” Warriors said leading to a awkward moment of silence.
“Why don’t you tell us about him?” Twilight offers “maybe it is one of our memories but we just forgotten it. It might jog a memory”
Warriors nodded in understanding before trying to pick a place to start.
“Well he wore green in that help” Warriors said with a smile causing almost everyone to groan. It had been a running joke in the group about how they all wore green in their adventures.
“Get on with it” Legend said, with a mixed between amusement and annoyance. Warriors let out a sigh as his smile dropped as he remembered the young link.
“I found him in the middle of a battle field. At first I thought he had been caught by the enemy; however looking back I realize the blood on his sword, he was the one who slaughtered that army” Warriors started as he notice Legend opening his mouth to ask something. “I don’t know how he did it. Otherwise I would tell you” Warriors state causing Legend to shut up as the others lead in. Suddenly Warriors face lit up with a smile.
“My fairy found him first. He looked so happy when he saw her” suddenly his face shifted to a frown “it all disappeared when she told him her name. Like his hope was taken away in that moment”
“Fairy?” Twilight asked.
“Proxy, I didn’t speak much” Warriors started.
“Wish you still didn’t” Legend said making the playful jab but Warriors just ignored him.
“She was a little blue fairy, and she use to speak for me. I think he confused her for another one”
“Did he say anything?” Sky asked.
“No, as soon as he saw me he ran. You would have thought I was ganon in his eyes” Warriors said.
“Then how did you meet him?” Hyrule asked more confused.
“That was the second time. We found him in another field of dead enemies. That’s when I put it together that he was who did that. Impa and Zelda decided he would be a good warrior. I remember getting into a screaming match with Impa over that” Warriors states staring at the sky in memory.
“He didn’t run away?” Twilight asked.
“His leg was hurt, he couldn’t even it he wanted to” Warriors said as his face shifted to a sad expression. “He looked so sad and tired, like he was holding the weight of the sky on his shoulders, scared every second it would break. He had bags under his eyes like he hadn’t slept in days....he wasn’t very trusting”
“How did you get him to trust you?” Wild asked.
“You assume he trusted me. I like to think he did, but I’m never sure” Warriors offered with a shrug.
“All we got so far was that he was a sad boy who didn’t trust much, I think that’s a bit broad” Legend said bring up a good point. Warriors to a second trying to remember the little details of the hero.
“I think he did trust me a bit. He only seemed to fall asleep around me. He loved proxy, most kids when they see fairies think of them as playthings and act rough, not him. He always held Proxy like she would break at the slightest of touch. I admit I felt a little bit of jealousy, but I couldn’t really stay man at the kid. He also like music, he never would speak but he would hum so much. Whenever the kid was still he would hum, some songs I recognize some I didn’t. Eventually I started to hum along with him, I think he noticed” Warriors said as his face shifted to a smile.
“What happened to him?” Sky asked making Warriors smile disappear.
“He returned to his timeline, like Wind did to his” Warriors ran his hand through his hair before giving a broken laugh “I knew something had hurt the kid, and I didn’t want him to go back to it. I thought maybe if I asked Lana she couldn get him to stay in my timeline. I could look after him......it was a stupid idea, wishful thinking”
Warriors let out a chuckle before starting to talk again.
“The little Link love playing around with mask, however he never let me touch them. He looked so tired but would never sleep; he only seemed to fall asleep around me. Like he wouldn’t fall asleep if other were around.” Warriors face shifted to a grimace “he hated meat, he refused to eat it. Sometime Impa tried to force it but he would just go hunger. I never knew what caused him to not like it but I didn’t question. I would bring him my portion of veggies while I took his portion of meat. It’s weird for some hero to eat only vegetables”
“Who eats only vegetables?” Time said appearing from the shadows, finally finishing patrol.
“Some random link from the timeline” Legend pipped in, his tone earning him a smack from Hyrule.
“Warriors was telling us about the other Link from his Adventures. We been trying to figure out if it was one of us” Sky informed the elder hero.
“Oh” Time said taking his spot next to Twilight.
“Yeah he telling us things he remembers about the other Link” Wind said excitedly like it was some sort of guessing game. Most of the Links tried to bring Time up to speed on what they knew, he nodded along with every word. Eventually everyone got tired or had something better to do, leaving Time and Warriors still at the campfire. Time because he hasn’t eaten yet and Warriors because he forgot to eat while explaining his story.
“Tell me something about this small Link of yours” Time asked before getting a bit of soup.
Warriors just smile, knowing the part that everyone seemed to left out.
“He loved music. It seems whenever we had a moment to breath he would be humming something, as if it relaxed him. He also had an instrument of some sort; don’t know what it was called but it was a pretty blue color. He always had a smile when he played it, like it bring joy and some light through the terrible darkness” Warriors explains as he stares up at he night sky, remember the younger Link.
“An instrument like this?” Time said grabbing something out of his bag to show to the Captain.
There is was right in his leader’s hand was the instrument young link used to play. It shone the same brilliant blue and didn’t look any older.
Warriors was in shock for a minute, trying to process what was in front of him. He looked at Time who just gave a warm smile, the ones he gave when he was proud of one them.
It makes so much sense now. Time never really judge Wind for his age; saying he would be he worst example for that. Time had a love for leafy greens and didn’t particularly like eating meat; never really argue about it. The humming was the same. When Time was comfortable he hummed, the songs sound so familiar now.
Warriors was frozen for a second before moving knocking his bowl of soup out of his hands. He ran up to Time hugging the older hero and effectively knocking his soup away to.
Warriors held Time in a tight hug and tears ran down his face with the flood of emotions he was getting. Happiness that young link was safe and grew up, sadness for missing it, anger for Time not telling him; and lastly despair, remember that he young child with trauma was their supposedly fearless leader.
Time effortlessly return the hug.
“You have questions?” Time asked. And felt a nod from Warriors.
“I’ll answer them all. Considering it a thank you for everything you did for me”
Somebody Different (3/???)
Beginning, Previous, Next (To Be Released)
Summary: Decisions must be made, a life hangs in the balance, Time and Twilight scramble to keep broken pieces together.
Note: Sort of a filler chapter but very important nonetheless. Angst of most kinds can be found here. Tread carefully. And by that I mean enjoy.
-o-o-o-o-
Epona huffs through her nostrils, her body pumps beneath his legs as he lets go of her reigns and aims an arrow made of light at the stomach of the terrible beast snarling above him, trying to find and probably smash him into the ground as a new dish called "the Hero's pancake". He takes a steadying breath and lets the arrow fly, and it's thanks to months of practice that he hits his target dead center.
Calamity Ganon screams and rears its head up, snarling, almost desperately trying to shift so it can get a better look at the one who will defeat it.
Link thanks whatever gods there are—he's still learning—for Epona. The beautiful horse knows how to hold her own in battle, and he hardly even had to steer her towards safety, she did it herself. He rubs her neck and she whinnies. This could be it, he thinks. He could fail here, and he could die here. It's all been leading up to these moments, and it could all have been for nothing…
He shakes his head. No. He can do this. If he dies… Epona will die. Zelda will die. Purah, Impa, Paya, Beetle, everyone, all of Hyrule and the unknown lands to the north and west, all the uncharted seas to the South and east, all of it will be doomed.
He cannot fall here.
Though, true to the theme of his life, everything suddenly goes downhill. A leg of the beast above him moves suddenly and too quickly for him to avoid. Epona stumbles below him and he barely has time to wince at the pitiful noise she makes before he's thrown clear off from her back. He rolls for a long time, limbs flailing and skin rubbing raw to the point of blood each time he makes contact with the ground. His head spins and it takes him a moment to recognize that he's no longer rolling.
Groaning, he curls his hand around the grass and dirt below him and forces his head up, ignoring every pang of pain trying to coax him back down.
In front of him is the beast, smoke steaming from the corners of it's lips, the sky runs a blood red and darkness seems to be closing in. However, he doesn't need Zelda to call out to him that there's a last weakness, that not all is lost. Looking up at the head of Calamity Ganon, he can see light wanting to burst through in a giant, long crack. A single eye opens in that light, wildly looking around as if confused why it's there, why it's exposed.
He has to get to that. How? How does he get all the way up there?! Revali's Gale isn't strong enough to lift him that high, there has to be another way-
The beast in front of his roars and Link quickly rushes to his feet, pushing all pain to the back of his mind to deal with later. It's charging up, a deep purple beginning to glow at the back of its mouth. Before Link can do anything, the beam of malice he has managed to avoid up till this point is firing right at him.
And then he wakes with a start.
His chest is pounding and he's too hot and too cold at the same time. The other man, the one who calls himself "Legend" is still against the tree, resting somewhat fitfully if the wrinkles between his eyebrows are anything to go off from. Link sighs and leans back against his own tree, pulling his Hylian Cloak closer to him to ward away the chill of night. The campfire cracks, still strong, letting Link know he hasn't exactly been asleep long.
What happened… after Calamity Ganon fired at him? He can't remember anything past that, and it tears him apart. Did he defeat it like Legend has said? Did he fall? Was the whole battle actually fabricated? He used to think losing all of his memories was the worst thing that could happen to him, yet it seems the Resurrection Shrine has called his bluff and took half of his memories away.
Now he has three separate lives he must put together, one of a boy raised to be a knight, one of a memoryless knight training to be a hero, and one of a hero with seemingly no purpose anymore. Three versions of himself. If anyone is allowed to have an existential crisis, Link thinks he's probably the most entitled to one right about now.
Cricket's sing as he tries to calm his mind and heart. It's late, and he needs to sleep… but after a few minutes of trying he recognizes how impossible that is and instead reaches towards the Sheikah Slate connected to his hip. He turns it on and with practiced movements he flicks the screen towards the hundreds of photos he has stored onto the device. He started taking pictures of everything after he found out how important Zelda's pictures were to his memory. He's always been paranoid about forgetting everything again, so he thought that if there's a chance he forgets he'll be able to easily track down his memories.
If only it were that simple. It seems with each new beginning he has, the more difficult circumstances will make it for him.
He flicks his fingers through his very short second life until he comes upon the last photo he actually remembers taking. The beast. Calamity Ganon. He thought, at the time, that Zelda would be shaking her head in exasperation as he jumped of Epona to quickly snap a picture of the beast hell bent on destroying Hyrule. For the memories, you know?
It takes him a second to work up the courage to slide his finger across the screen to come across the next photo, and when he does his breath is taken away.
She's beautiful. He already knew this of course, but he's only ever seen her in blurry memories with half the information stuffed inside them. Seeing her like this, smiling at him with the endless expanse of world behind her… it fills him with so much joy... and so much sadness that he doesn't remember taking it, doesn't remember seeing her in person.
The next photo is a picture of them posing together in front of a silent princess. The next one is of her chasing a frog, and the next is her arm nearly being pulled out from her socket as she shakes Sidon's hand.
There's plenty of pictures like this, documenting a life after success, until the first strange photo pops up. It's simple yet so out of place. It's a picture of a bowl of soup that he figured out and perfected the recipe of just a few months into his journey. There's a child holding the bowl in his hands, bits of carrots and creamy soup dripping from the corners of his mouth as he smiles widely, as if it's been a very long time since he's had a good meal.
He studies this picture for a moment, trying to find familiarity with the person he's seeing, until he gives up with a huff and flicks to the next confusing image. This one strikes something in him… it's of a man, probably just a few years older than Link himself, tattooed on the face and clad in a wolf pelt. Link's posed in this one, his arm slung around the man's shoulder, making him lean down awkwardly as he's forced to bend unnaturally towards Link's shorter height. Link's smiling widely, and the man is frowning in surprise as if the photo was of complete surprise, like Link decided at the spur of the moment that he should have a picture with this man and took it before the other could complain.
The reason this photo stands out to him is because it tugs something in his gut, something that screams he should recognize this but for the life of him he can't place it. It reminds him of the time he came out of the resurrection chamber… the first time he came out of it. Alone, not a single memory to his name, hell, he didn't even have a name, at least not one he was sure about. It reminds him of when he first laid his hands on the Sheikah Slate, when that strange feeling of familiarity washed over him yet he had no recollection of actually seeing it before.
It's exactly like that, now that he thinks about it. The Sheikah Slate was the first thing he interacted with, this man was the one who pulled him out the second time.
More pictures, more faces, some striking more feelings than others but each as mind boggling as the one before. A small one with strange colored clothes and a bright smile that hides many secrets. A soft, middle sized one with a kind gaze and welcoming arms. A taller one who reminds Link just a bit of Revali, but his smile isn't as arrogant, it's the grin of a great leader. One that looks to be the eldest, a single eye hiding so much pain and wisdom but his expression is genuine and open. Another who looks like he laughs more than anything else, who looks like he's seen many mountains and many monsters, whose friendly stance and welcoming expressions screams that he's never let a single bad moment take away his hope.
Then there's Legend, he's only in a few pictures, he's probably mastered the art of avoiding the camera, but in the photos he's in there's always this glint of… happiness he's trying to hide behind layers and layers of unreadable expressions. He's happy, but he's trying to not let anyone know about it.
Well, that's what it looks like at least. Link likes to think he's good at reading people; when it comes to the Yiga clan, he really has to be.
He studies a few more pictures, flips back to look at them again, and all the while a brick begins to settle deeper and deeper into his stomach.
He shot a bomb at these people.
Sure, he had just woken up, the last thing in his mind was a powerful monster about to kill him, but he doesn't intentionally ever hurt people, even the Yiga. The only human whose death he's responsible for is Master Kohga, and he will make sure he goes the rest of his life without the death of another human on his conscious.
The more time that passes from the moment he woke up again, the more he regrets freaking out and using a drastic measure like taking a hostage. Maybe he should have stayed and talked with them... he hopes they're all okay… however, he also has to keep reminding himself that there's no way that he can know for sure that Legend's story is true… the one he was told piece by piece through the day, the story that each of these other faces are past incarnations of himself and that they're working together to fight an unseen threat larger than what any of them has ever faced before.
The pictures cannot be taken at face value. He already knows the Yiga can adopt the look of any person, so it's possible that each of these photos, even the ones with Zelda, are doctored.
He exits the gallery before the brick in his gut can grow any larger. Instead, he turns to where the map of Hyrule should be. Instead, it's all static. Nothing, not even any border lines that suggest there's a tower or some sort of way to get information of the land he's lost in.
He sighs and sets aside the slate, finding it useless for everything except making him anxious. He sets his eyes on Legend and stares for a second.
He has a decision to make, leave this mysterious man behind and make his escape to figure out where he is, or slow himself down, take Legend with him, and have a source of information. Questionable information but information nonetheless.
He'll decide in the morning…
-o-o-o-o-
"Will he be okay?" Wind asks and Time looks up from where he's nursing his bruised back. Twilight meets his eyes as he's wrapping Four's's head, both avoiding the youngest's questioning glance.
Time, instead turns to rest his gaze on Warrior, the only one in their group who's still unconscious, laying out on the forest floor with Twilight's pelt used as a pillow. Hyrule sits against a tree nearby with his legs pulled against his chest and his forehead resting against his knees, not bothering to look or talk to anyone.
At this point, Wind could be talking about either one of them.
What does Time say? Yes! Warrior will be completely fine, what's a few broken bones and a major concussion? He'll one hundred percent be okay even though they already used up all the red potions they had to cure the worst of everyone's injuries. Yes, they'll all be okay even though all of their travel bags were lost in the world switch. Everything is completely, without a doubt, a-okay even through Wild's gone hostile and took one of their own hostage.
Thankfully, he doesn't have to answer. Sky does for him.
"He's Warrior, he's never down long," Sky replies, brushing dust and dirt off from his Sailcloth. He sounds confident, even looks somehow confident despite how he's covered in dust and bandages, but Time catches the unnerved glance Sky sends towards the unconscious member of their team.
Twilight pats Four's shoulder and stands up from his position, his eyes darting around the forest they all now find themselves in. "We need to find our stuff," he says, "It shouldn't be far. They'll be more supplies for Warrior there."
Time nods, and regrets it instantly when his head pounds with the motion. He winces and brings his hand to his temple and rubs. "You can't go alone," he grinds out. Twilight gives him an unimpressed glare and before he can argue with Time about him being the one to go with him, he glances over to where Hyrule is still moping.
Understanding flashes in Twilight's eyes. Hyrule, after helping Twilight wake everyone up and drag the group to the surface, has fallen into some sort of depression and has been silent and still for way too long. A Hyrule that isn't bursting with life, kindness, and exaggerated movements hardly isn't Hyrule at all.
Time smiles in satisfaction when Twilight nods and walks over to where Hyrule sits, he taps Hyrule on the shoulder. "C'mon, you up for joining me?"
Hyrule stays silent, not acknowledging Twilight in the slightest. Sky moves forward and opens his mouth, as if he's about to offer to go in Hyrule's place, but one look from Time he seems to understand what Time and Twilight are trying to do.
When a few seconds pass and a reaction from Hyrule is still lacking, Twilight clicks his tongue and gently places his hand around Hyrule's bicep. Hyrule let's out a growl of frustration as Twilight slowly drags him to his feet. Hyrule lifts his face, cheeks red, and steadies his stance as Twilight wraps his arm around his shoulders and starts to guide him away.
"You can mope later," Twilight says, smiling, though his eyes betray worry, "for now, help me search the forest."
Hyrule simply nods and Time has to look away because he can't stand how expressionless the boy looks. Something is eating at Hyrule, and if it's left alone it will begin to eat at the rest of the group, and with Warrior as wounded as he is, with Wild gone rogue, with Legend MIA, bad moral is the last thing they need.
Instead of watching them go, Time leaves Hyrule in Twilight's capable hands so he can take care of the rest of their broken family.
"Whose hungry?"
It's fairly easy to tell with most of the guys, but I've been wondering: what kinds of things are Lore afraid of? How does he react when he's forced to face those things?
Oh!  @ask-the-dimensional-links did a thing on this!  Give me a minute, I’ll go and dig up that post-
Click Here To Read It
Also, I went back through my message history and found the original thoughts I sent them regarding that Ask in the first place.  However, it is long, and I have recently figured out how to stop spamming people with novel-length posts, so!  The LONG answer shall be under the cut ;)
(But if you don’t want to read the whole thing I’ll put Lore’s in bold so you can just skip to it)
((For greatest fears… well, honestly I’ve only addressed this a couple times, because most of my interpretation of being the Holder of Courage means that said Holder isn’t afraid of a ton of stuff. That said, I have tried to give each Link something that they ARE afraid of, if only because Courage also means overcoming your fear and doing the thing anyway. I probably haven’t mentioned them all in-story because not all of them came up through natural events or dialogue, but hey, now I can!  Gen is afraid of spiders. I did this because, in his game, they’re freaking enormous and have a nasty habit of dropping out of absolutely flipping nowhere, landing on his head, and proceeding to try and eat him then and there. Granted, the spiders in Twilight Princess can be equally large, but you can usually see them coming. Plus, Dusk has very sharp teeth and that quick-time event thing with Midna and her magic, so he’s much better equipped to take them out swiftly whereas Gen has to stab the thing and usually get spider guts on himself too.Speck worries about getting stepped on. One of the very first things he learned about being small is that almost nobody pays attention to you, and they certainly don’t pay attention to where they’re walking. Most of the time he uses this to his advantage, like his fighting style. But he always makes sure to keep to corners and to walk in places where he can’t easily be spotted, because getting crushed to death by an unobservant human sounds absolutely terrifying.The Four don’t like being alone. It’s something that’s developed more in relation to the more time they spend together; there’s something really intimate about sharing thoughts the way they do, and they’re a little bit worried about how they’re going to handle it all when they have to put the Four Sword back. To them, noise means people and people mean life and warmth and laughter and a bunch of other good stuff. Their hive-mind means that they’ve always got each other, but especially now that they’ve gotten used to having ten-plus siblings around, being alone just sounds so… lonely.Ocarina is scared that he can’t measure up. It’s a lot of pressure, to take a nine-year-old boy and tell him, “Hey, you gotta save the world.” Now, though, he’s in a body that he’s still getting used to (he never had the opportunity to grow into it, after all), and there’s a future version of himself hanging around who’s confident and cocky and everything Ocarina’s not. He’s afraid that Mask might look at him one day and say, ‘You’ll never be me. You’re not enough.’ Common sense, of course, tells him that this is obviously never going to happen, because otherwise that would be a massive paradox and plus Mask just isn’t that kind of person, but fear isn’t exactly rational.Mask got over that whole inferiority thing a looooong time ago, but now he’s got a new issue: he can’t stand being left behind. Not in the kind of ‘You’re too slow’ way, but in the 'people move on without him’ way. It started when Princess Zelda sent him back to his child years (without actually consulting him on it, might I add), and suddenly here he is with all these memories surrounded by all these people who have no idea what he’s been through. Mask would have much rather continued as he was, with the people who shared the experience with him. Then Navi left, for reasons he’s still trying to figure out, and he literally left the country and went to a new one searching for her. This is part of the reason why he resonates with the Skull Kid; they’ve both got the same fear.Neither of them are very fond of Dead Hands, though.  Dusk doesn’t like losing people - at all. He’s so protective that the idea of one of the people he values getting hurt terrifies him. After all, what did he do when his adoptive brother got kidnapped? (That’s Colin, by the way.) And what did he do when Colin nearly got tossed off a bridge by King Bulblin? He went nuts on the guy. Same thing when Speck almost got crushed. He’s a wolf, and the pack means everything to him. He’s going to fight until he literally can’t anymore to keep anything from happening to his family.Vio, Blue, Red, and Green each have a diluted version of Link’s original fear, because they’re one personality split across four bodies. Basically, Link hates being the person who screwed up. The reason that Vaati is free in the first place was because he drew the Four Sword, breaking the seal and letting the sorcerer loose. (If you’d like, the Blue in him outweighed the Vio and instead of thinking of other ways to rescue the Princess, he went for the immediate option.) In a roundabout way, the whole mess is his fault (or at least he thinks it’s his fault), and he’ll do anything to make sure it doesn’t happen again. For his four split selves, this manifests into a general desire to not be the person in the group to botch the timing on a combat plan and to have their teamwork, at least, be smoothly-running.Lore, for a while, didn’t think he had a fear. Then he met the group and he abruptly realized, that, yes, he actually does. Lore’s afraid of rejection, that one day these people that he’d come to regard as family will say 'That’s it, we’re done, you’re too weird and we can’t cope with it.’ He actually reigned himself in, at first, just a little bit, because he liked these people and he wanted to stick around and for some reason, the idea of them looking at him in apprehension and confusion the way most other people did bothered him. He’s let loose by now, obviously, because he knows that none of them are going anywhere and neither is he, but it’s just one of those things that comes up in a bad dream every once in a while and always ends with him spending the rest of the night awake.Sketch has a straight-up phobia of water. I’ve covered this one fairly in-depth in the story, I believe, so I won’t reiterate it too much. But Sketch is always going to look at the ocean differently than the rest of the group will, because The Rain Incident is never too far in his mind.Realm is secretly afraid that one day, he’s going to get lost on his way to save somebody and by the time he finally gets there it’ll be too late. Or, that he’ll lose his sword and be unable to fend off an attack, or lose his shield and be unable to defend someone. This is why he never stops trying to find whichever item he misplaced or whichever location he lost track of this time. He’s going to get there whether it takes him two weeks or not, because the alternative isn’t an option. He’s better nowadays, because somehow hanging with the group cuts his travel time by about eighty percent and he still can’t believe that it’s normal for people to get where they’re going in less than a week, but it’s awesome and he’s not complaining one bit.Wind is afraid to lose. Not exactly in the traditional sense, but more like he’s terrified of what will happen if he fails. What would have happened to Aryll if he’d failed to save her after she’d gotten kidnapped? What would have happened to Tetra if he’d failed to get her out of Ganondorf’s hands? What would happen to her now if he fails to find Bellum? And, the current one, what will happen to existence if they fail to stop Demise? (I guess he’s afraid of the Game Over scenario, heh.)Steam never says anything about it, but he sometimes sees things that nobody else does and they freak the living daylights out of him. He’s started suspecting that there’s some form of spirit world sharing the space with their physical one. He’s learned to ignore it, for the most part, although being able to see it did come in really handy when Zelda lost her body. Unfortunately, that led him to think that he’s seeing the afterlife, and that was just uncomfortable.
Shadow likes to pretend that he doesn’t have a fear and he gets away with it too, because what he’s actually afraid of never actually occurred to anybody else. Which is funny, because he’s actually really obvious about it. He doesn’t like sunlight. Kinda like Sketch and his water phobia, Shadow’s afraid of sunlight because it hurts. He’s never tempted fate to see what would happen, but judging by the smoke that starts coming off his hair he doesn’t think he wants to find out. Hence the cloak he wears, and why he’s always under a shady tree somewhere.Oni dislikes the idea of losing his legacy. He’s the very first Hero, after all, he’s gotta protect his kids. Plus, if they’re gone, who’s gonna beat up the evil that pops up all the time? He’s like the formal older brother/father who’s actually an enraged momma bear if you manage to trigger his fear.))
