Goretober XI: No Castyses Were Harmed in the Making of This Program (Probably)
Little wrap-up thing to send the cockroach boy home so he can take a nap no gore in my last @coyotehusk goretober thing but what can you do
←Previous - Castys Masterlist - Goretober Masterlist
Ingredients: strangulation, boy is released to restful freedom
Castys hadn’t been hurt yet today, which was odd. Kuro had just gagged him and tied him to the chair, and was currently poking at him, her eyes seeming…sad.
“Well, Castys, it’s been a lot of fun playing with you, but I think this’ll have to be it for our time together.” Wait, what? This bullshit was finally over? He didn’t have any clue why, but he was too excited to care. Even as Kuro started to strangle him, relief flooded through his veins. How was he even going to get back, since he had no clue where he was? No idea, it didn’t matter, he was dying and he got to go home, dying to go home, if you will. He could barely hear Kuro’s last words as his consciousness faded.
“Until we meet again, Castys.”
He woke up at home, in his own bed, no gag in his mouth, no blood on him or the shorts he was wearing. It…it couldn’t have been a dream, the pain had been so damn real, but…maybe some weird magic was the cause? Whatever. Hopefully his roommate hadn’t been worried about him since he’d been gone for a few months at least.
He should probably try to rest or something, but there was only one thing he wanted at the moment, and that was a candy stick. Sliding out of bed, he headed for the pantry.
It was good to be home.

The Problem With Yasopp
So like many people I was genuinely surprised by Netflix One Piece, adaption, which turned out the exact opposite of pretty much every single travesty that america has made when adapting Manga and Anime.
It certainly was not without flaws, for one thing it needed to be at least 3-5 episodes longer in order to fix it's pacing issues if it wanted to get all of East Blue into one season, and the fight scenes while very well choreographed, didn't exactly sell me on the superhuman strength of most of these characters.
However, there was one thing that genuinely pissed me off, in large part because the american adapters changed something they didn't like, in order to fit "western sensibilites" and in doing so, completely missing the point, and frankly tragedy of the original context.
That of course, is the character of Usopp's relationship with his parents Yasopp and Banchina, and the rather sad tale of plans going completely arry due to twists of fate.
Tumblr media
In the west, the character of Yasopp has been a rather contentious one, for several reasons, but also one that has been a bit altered by the changes from Japanese to English.
Yasopp is critiqued heavily by people who don't like him for abandoning his kid, and his wife to seek adventure on the high seas. Now this is not untrue, but there is a bit of context here that's a bit lost in translation.
And you can really tell that, because the way Netflix portrays Yasopp leaving is the surface level one you might get if you just read Syrup Village arc, and you don't pay any attention at all to the timeline given.
In the neflix series, it's explicitly said that Yasopp left Usopp and his mother while Usopp was still a baby. That is such a common reading, that it's actually what the One Piece Wiki claims happened(Another example of why you should always be critical of Wiki's).
The actual Manga tells a different story.
Tumblr media
Yasopp left Syrup village right before Banchina unexpedetly got sick with the disease that ultimatly killed her.
When Usopp is so touchy against Kuro about him badmouting his father, it's not in the context of him idolizing some father he never met, because Usopp and Yasopp knew and loved each other dearly. Usopp's wish to see his dad again isn't some wish to meet the father he only knows through stories, but to reconnect with the dad he loved so much growing up and was sad when he left.
Tumblr media
And then of course there is the glory of mistraslation. If you've read this part of the manga, you might rightly be wondering, what sort of woman would be proud of the man who abandoned her to take care of their kid while he sought adventure.
The answer, which the english translation does not give, is a woman who was the one to convince him to go out on that journey in the first place.
Because that is what happened in the orignal manga. It was Banchina, for reasons we don't fully understand or have the context for, eho convinced her husband to go out and seek his dreams.
That's the reason why she is so certain Yasopp will NOT be coming home, but why she is also not bitter about it. She was the one who encouraged Yasopp to go out to sea, while she stayed home and took care of their kid, until he grew old enough to care for himself, and seek the seas himself if he wished.
Tumblr media
The story of Yasopp, Usopp and his wife is a genuine tragedy, but not because Yasopp abandoned Usopp before he ever got to know him, but because Usopp's parents made plans for the future, that while not perfect by any stretch, seemed workable enough... only for the entire thing to come crumbling down after Yasopp left due to something as mundane as a random disease.
One can certainly make an argument that this was NOT the best course of action for Yasopp and Banchina to take, but it's not the complete deadbeat dad who abandons his baby trope that the Netflix series portrays it as.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Further hammering in that this was a bit more complicated than that, Yasopp seems to have been one of the very first crew members Shanks tried to recruit, having sought him out not long after Roger died... And Yasopp seems to have flat out rejected him, as he stayed with Banchina for years and years afterwards.
It adds a lot of context to the idea that Banchina was the one who ultimately convinced Yasopp to go out and chase his dreams while she took care of the kid... Because it took years and years for it to ultimately conclude at this course of action. Yasopp would continue to reject Shanks offer to join him for years to instead to take care of his wife and kid, until about a year before Shanks met Luffy, when his wife told him to go.
It's a hell of a lot more nuanced and interesting than what Netflix did, that's for damn sure.

Cats & Ships Chapter Two
Title: Cats & Ships
Overall Rating: Teen for now? May go into mature at a future date
Trigger warnings: Nothing beyond what's in the live-action series. I mean, Kuro's still manipulative and paranoid. It gets better tho? Slowly? It's a WIP, so I don't fully know yet.
Pairings: Captain Kuro (Klahadore)/Reader; hints of Kaya/Usopp
Summary: It started out as a means to get information as Khaladore. Who would be better to provide information regarding the high seas than Syrup Village’s Harbormaster? Except, for the first time in a very long time, Kuro found himself trusting, and even liking, the young woman he shared tea with every week.
And then the Straw Hat Pirates arrived and ruined his plans. Except fate decided his story wasn’t done there.
Nor was yours.
Masterlist here! | Read on Ao3!
Miss Kaya sat in the chair her butler once claimed, looking so much better it made you feel horrible. (Poison. He had been slowly poisoning her for years, and making a show of caring for her in her poor health. And no one thought to wonder, easily accepting that her weak nature was due to the sudden loss of her family.)
The cat-once-named-Kuro sat on the desk, carefully regarding the new visitor with mistrust. He didn’t like new visitors, no matter what. It had taken months for him to warm up to him to the point whenever the cat perked up, you knew he had entered your office. You tried not to notice how the cat would often wait now expectantly by the door when it was past the time he  would usually come around.
“I don’t want to offend you,” Miss Kaya started, her hands wringing nervously in her lap, yet her shoulders were set straight, head held high. She was still so thin and frail, but there was a glimmer of the strong woman she was quickly becoming. (He had lamented about her health, her frailty, and it had been him all along.)  “But I’m tired of hearing rumors and not knowing the truth. I want to hear it from your lips and not others.”
You smiled tightly, and could tell it couldn’t quite reach your eyes. Not that it had in the last few months. How could you ever smile again after everything? “I appreciate that, miss Kaya. No one else has shown such bravery, or compassion.”
There was both relief and pity in her expression, “So… what was your relationship with Klahadore? Did… did you-”
“I knew nothing,” you interrupted, not really wanting to hear the question. “I-i was as fooled as you were. I thought we were friends, and maybe someday we-we would be more. But the only thing he confided to me were the stresses of Klahadore the butler, with nothing hinting at his true self, or true intentions.”
You felt ill when you heard the news. Merry was dead. Kaya had nearly died, had been slowly dying for years.
All at Klahadore’s hands. Kuro’s blades. Captain Kuro of the hundred plans, leader of the black cat pirates.
The one pirate whose exploits you had followed closely in the news years ago, morbidly fascinated by the fact he had a plan for everything. Always outsmarting the marines and other pirates. The one you couldn’t help but find handsome on his wanted posters when you passed by the wall in the harbor, looking at the dozens of hundred of wanted posters that covered it.
You had tea with him in weekly meetings about supplies for the manor-- or at least that was the cover. Really, it felt like two friends meeting up for a vent session… but now you saw it for what it really was. He had been after any information you could give.
And you gave. So much. You had trusted him without second thought and spilled so many secrets, entranced by his soft dark eyes and faint smile. You told him the secret workings of the port, info the marines had confided in you as harbor master. So, so, much.
(He knew you named your cat after him. Knew of your silly little crush.)
To say you were torn up didn’t quite do things justice. You had fallen into a pit of despair, questioning everything and every interaction you had with the man over the last three years. Every conversation. Every touch. Every gesture. Great Mother Sea, you had been hoping for a relationship with him. You had imagined a future with him-- Captain Kuro.
How? Stoic yet sweet Klahadore, who was alway chiding you to take care of yourself. Who seemed to enjoy the company of your multitudes of cats as much as you did. You could still see him in the other chair, one hand delicately holding a teacup while the other scratched the ears of whichever cat decided to claim his lap.
Could someone fake the emotion you had seen as he looked down at the kittens, so full of warmth, of love. (Then again, his crew was known as the black cats. Maybe he really was as fond as he looked?)
But what about the same expression when it was aimed at you? The rare times he touched your hands, your face, so tenderly you were sure you were about to melt? Had they been real? Faked?
Did it even matter?
It both did and did not -- because not only were you scrutinizing every single moment, most of the populace was as well. They weren’t privy to what happened behind the walls of your office-- your home-- but they knew enough. You were the only other villager Klahadore--Captain Kuro-- had been close to other than Kaya herself. And despite being the Harbormaster for the islands the last six years, or the fact your family had served for the last several generations, the villagers found everything highly suspicious.
But only one person was brave enough to confront you about it.
“He fooled all of us,” Miss Kaya admitted, her posture softening some. “I thought he was my closest friend, family even. If he had just asked, I probably would have allowed him to have whatever he wanted. The family business, the manor, anything.”
Despite your own pain, your heart ached for the young woman who had lost everyone close to her. Merry, Klahadore, and even Usopp had set sail with the so-called pirates that had saved her.
“...at least we understand each other,” you offered weakly, knowing it wasn’t much of a consolation. “To be tricked so thoroughly, how great of an actor he was…”
It was her turn to offer a tight smile that didn’t reach eyes that were no longer sunken in. “That he was. Sham and Buchi I didn’t really care for, to be honest. I found them a bit… odd. But Klahadore… he was like a big brother. I never doubted him once.”
Your heart was hurting too much. Because Mother Sea, that’s how he acted too. A big brother who was put-upon yet still loved his sister.   (How was all of that an act? How? How? How?!)
"What plans do you have now?" You asked, trying to pretend like there wasn’t a huge lump in your throat. You needed a change in subject, quick, before you started to fall apart in front of the young heiress.
“Actually, I’m going to leave Syrup village,” she answered, seemingly agreeable to the change. “For a while, at least. I’ve set up a board to manage my parent’s ship yard, but… I want to be a doctor, so I want to go to one of the cities to do my training.”
Your smile felt just as weak as usual, despite the pride that blossomed for the young woman. To take her life in her hands and forage her own path. It was admirable, something you had wanted but never done.
Then again, with her gone no one would be left in the village who understood what you went through. How you felt. There would still be suspicion in every glance, every deal.
Were you a pirate? An accomplice? Could you really be trusted now?  How innocent were you, really?
“That… sounds like a really good idea, truth be told,” you admitted after a moment, an idea forming in your mind. “A fresh start away from here sounds nice.”
After all, what did you have to lose?
***
Your life. You could lose your life.
Dread filled you as screams filled the air, pirates swinging from their ship to the passenger ship. 'Fuck my life.'

Crossroad ♱ Epilogue
Talks of death
Location: Repayment Festival
Tumblr media
Season: Spring, the following year
Keito: …Fufu. Thinking back on it, you really were harsh, Sakuma-san.
And at the time I was an immature idiot, so very stupid. Such youthful indiscretion—I’ll be embarrassed by it for the rest of my life.
DEADMANZ, huh…
A three person unit consisting of me, Sakuma-san and Oogami. It was left behind on paper, because I just don’t know when to let go.
Until the very end, I held onto that hope; I really thought that if things got too crazy, I could just cling to Sakuma-san’s sympathy and beg for help, didn’t I? I’m such a fool.
Tumblr media
Kuro: …What’s with ya, Danna? It’s weird—are ya laughin’ at memories?
Keito: Yeah… As expected of someone so close to graduation, I’m getting all emotional. I’m remembering all sorts of things, really.
Kuro: That so. But now ain’t the time to get caught up in old memories. We gotta get outta here and go to Kanzaki.
He seems to be workin’ pretty hard all by lonesome, yanno.
Keito: No, it looks like Hakaze is helping him out too… So Kanzaki isn’t completely alone, but I’m still a bit worried, so I’d like to get to him as soon as possible.
Kuro: Don’t get too hasty, though. Ya shouldn’t move too violently, the DEADMANZ costumes were hastily made, so the sewing is a lil’ weak here and there.
Keito: But it’s a costume made by you, Kiryuu, so I trust its durability.
Kuro: That right? Actually, I was feelin’ pretty moved myself, ya see.
I changed some of the details, but this is still a DEADMANZ outfit just like ya asked me to make for ya back then.
As I was stitchin’, I found myself thinkin’ back a lot too.
When I think about it, I realize we’ve come a long way. We ended up standin’ side by side like this…
Comrades chasin’ after our dreams together—I didn’t expect things to turn out like this.
Keito: Really… I’ll be honest, even back then, I sensed there was something special about you.
Tumblr media
Kuro: Haha, is that right? Ya sure I’m not just your replacement for Sakuma or something?
After breakin’ it off with Sakuma, ya still needed a weapon to achieve that revolution ya wanted.
Keito: Don’t be mean. I won’t say that wasn’t my intent… But in hindsight, I’m glad you were my accomplice.
Thank you, we ran side by side to the end.
It may not have been what I envisioned back then, but because of you… We reached an even better, more glorious conclusion.
Kuro: It’s not over yet, Danna. Don’t let your guard down, you’ve always had a poor endgame.
Keito: I’m aware. But this time, I won’t lose. This time, I’ll run to the finish line without falling.
Kuro: Sure. If you’re too sloppy, I’ll beat your ass, Danna.
Tumblr media
Rei: (...It seems Hakaze-kun has yet to make it.)
(Doggie too—I wonder, will he truly be able to make it to me as well?)
(It appears to be that Adonis-kun is lending him the support of a friend, so I’m sure he’ll be quite alright.)
(Spending time doing nothing but waiting—it is quite the prolonged form of suffering.)
(Since then… I’ve kicked the child who clung to my leg aside, henceforth becoming distant with Hasumi-kun.)
(From then on, I have lived a life of freewheeling, a life of self indulgence.)
(I took my fill of adolescence and savored it.)
(I traveled the world, I flourished, and finally, thanks to the five oddballs, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet companions that share the same capability as I, and the solitude which follows.)
(Together with dear Doggie, who waited for me with the remnants of DEADMANZ in his hands, so oblivious to it all…)
(I came back as a part of UNDEAD, with which I was able to enrich my time spent here.)
(In betraying and hurting my friend, I attained this glory stained in blood and sin.)
(I ask not for forgiveness, Hasumi-kun. If I were to bow my head and apologize to you now, I am quite sure you would only knit your brows.)
(Our roads have parted, never to meet again.)
(But unexpectedly, some hapless fate allowed us to meet fortuitously, and thus we appeared on stage together once more.)
(This must be a gift from some whimsical god, or perhaps they’re just being malicious.)
(Once more, that sin I must carry is thrust into my hands… And I shall continue to live as one egotistic, arrogant human being.)
(That day, due to a voice singing for the dead, I passed on…[1] I was born anew, able to set out as a human once more.)
(What the future holds, I know not. By karmic retribution, I may not obtain anything I desire, and may just rot away here.)
Tumblr media
(But, if my wish could be granted.)
(God. One more time, would you please hear out “my”[2] selfish desire?)
(...It is quite noisy outside of the auditorium. That voice, is it Doggie?)
(Ah, he’s finally caught up to me. I am happy to see you’ve grown into a strong man, one who may grant my wish.)
(When we first met, you were just an adorable little Puppy.)
(Because of such things, life is truly fun.)
(Kaoru-kun should be showing himself soon as well. I, too, should really be rousing myself before long.)
(I must raise my spirits, and my voice… If not, I shall be mistaken for a corpse, and be thrown into a coffin.)
(It’s still too early for me to die, so… For a little longer, I shall enjoy my life.)
(~……♪)

Ok so. Rei uses the word 成仏 here, which can mean passing away and also... reaching salvation in Buddhist terms, reaching satori, or nirvana. It wouldn't fully make sense to take it only this way because when you do this, your soul isn't supposed to return to the mortal world, but the connotations are there no less.
Rei reverts to the pronoun he used in second year here, 俺 (ore), but keeps his current speech style.

Ayano Aishi Rewrite: Airi Kuromori (愛莉 黒森)
"ai (愛)" means love. "ri (莉)" means jasmine, a flower that symbolises purity. "kuro (黒)" means black. "mori (森)" means forest.
Airi is a soft-spoken girl with a gentle and cute demeanor. She's generally pleasant to others, but doesn't share too much about herself, such as never having a classmate over at her house. Because of this distance covered up with a cute smile, some people see her a bit off-putting.
Internally, Airi feels an overwhelming contempt for her life, due to a sickening loneliness. Because of this, she struggles to empathise with others or develop meaningful relationships, which makes her disdain stronger. But when she meets her Senpai, she sees a similar loneliness in him, which causes her to think that he's her soulmate, and they're the only ones in the world who can understand each other.
[Picrew] [Rewrite Masterpost] More details ↴
Airi's parents went to the same school as her in 1989, where they were well acquainted with each other. They had an idyllic relationship, until one fateful day, where her father was being bullied by a classmate. In an attempt to defend him, her mother ended up killing the classmate, then convinced him to help cover up the murder.
The classmate was considered missing by police, until a journalist accused the two students of murdering the classmate, after seeing them act suspiciously in an abandoned alleyway. Due to being underage, the accused duo were only known as "Girl A" and "Boy A" to the public, and the details of the court trial being kept secretive. The duo were eventually declared innocent, and the Journalist's reputation was ruined for accusing teenagers of murder. This event became infamously called the Allegation Incident in the city.
After the trial, the boy was extremely paranoid about being accused again, and became dependent on the girl for comfort, as they're the only ones who know the truth. The two eventually got married and had a daughter, named Airi.
Airi's parents tried their best to give her a normal upbringing, but due to their past, ended up sheltering her. Because of this, Airi grew up without making any close friends. Her mother instilled in her the idea of having a soulmate, that there's only one person in the whole world who you can unconditionally trust, that you should do anything for each other.
This upbringing is what leads to Airi's sickening loneliness, and eventual obsession with the first person she can sympathise with. She wants to have a happy, idyllic relationship with her Senpai, but she's intensely afraid of anything that feels like an outside threat to it. Airi marks ten girls as her "rivals" she must secretly eliminate to keep Senpai all to herself, starting with his childhood friend.

magical girl au in my brain…. the first time hiiro and aira meet, its entirely by coincidence, though perhaps its fate’s design— a witch descends upon the mall complex aira’s in, pulling a good amount of people into its labyrinth, and right as aira’s about to die to one of the witch’s familiars, hiiro swoops in and dices it to pieces
hes only there to find rinne and for no other reason. expecting his brother to show up soon, rather than defeat the witch itself, hiiro simply protects the witch’s victims, hinging on rinne to show up and save the day and then hiiai kiss or something i didnt get far
[1]snkdbf to hiiro’s surprise, rinne does not show up to aira’s, neither do any magical girls its been a couple of days, and hiiro’s very visibly pushed to his psychological limit with keeping the humans he could find from killing each other (or themselves). in this time, he and aira talk — aira learns of hiiro’s desire to “destroy all magical girls” and hiiro learns of aira’s love for magical girls. they obviously start off on the wrong feet but fighting for your life will very quickly acquaint you with your allies so they cope, with aira placating the other people he’s with and hiiro handling matters of protection and resource allocation (they need to Eat and Drink Water after all </3)
except in all this time, the witch has only become stronger and stronger. hiiro’s back-up plan for escape falls through when he can no longer find an appropriate ‘exit’ to the labyrinth, and the witch’s familiars are only becoming stronger, smarter, and more cunning, and the psychological influence of the witch unnerves the victims hiiro is protecting, though aira is immune due to the latent well of magic within him. on top of all this, after cutting down a familiar that nearly does another human in, hiiro’s subjected to his hubris in the form of corruption rendering him immobile from an internal magic tug-of-war, trying to keep himself from becoming a monstrosity with the belief that he could be a danger to the rest of them, hiiro opts to kamikaze it and kill the witch with the resulting explosion when he turns, except aira offers to form a contract with him and then hiiai kiss again or something eccentric party night suddenly popped in my head
hiiai kiss so real
their transformation sequence should involve kissing /j specifically because of this au i started watching futari wa precure research purposes bdjdbfjf after defeating the witch, they learn the reason why neither rinne nor any magical girls showed up, and its because rinne fought off every magical girl from interfering, hoping to pressure hiiro into thinking of the victims’ sakes first before rinne’s didn’t work of course but hiiro and aira forming a contract is Also a satisfactory conclusion to his gamble, and thus rinne allows himself to be arrested and taken away by the Magical Girl Police (akatsuki?) before hiiai can get their bearings post-witch-defeat
[anon1]LMAOOO magical girl police 😭😭😭
[anon2]i can believe magical girls but I draw the line at rinne willingly giving himself up to law enforcement /j
HAHAHSISHKDJFF he doesnt go without a fight i assure you but kuro slaps him across the face and rinne goes down easy

Maestro Hiccups 2 Nightmares Unleashed Part 9
To My Dearest Friends...
I must call upon your help once more, for a much bigger problem is now in store. Lance has gotten the hiccups, but this problem proves much trouble is lurking, as the Wonder Fruit Tea, my cure, isn't working. But another cure is know, and it seems, that it is found in the Night Dimension, or the World of Dreams. But I am changing, I must do damage control here, You'll have to get the cure I fear. But come to the theater, and I can explain, What this cure, and how to obtain
With Love, but with urgency, Balan the Maestro of Positivity.
The humans stared at Cal as he finished reading the note. Cal raised an eyebrow "I KNEW IT!! I knew it wasn't a dream!" He boasted before he felt a small tug at his leg. Looking down, he saw Kuro trying to hurry him along, telling him that they didn't have much time to waste. "Well...I guess a journey back to Wonderworld is in order." Mei said.
The door to the bathroom finally opened "Balan needs us?" Emma asked, wiping her tear streaked face. They all nodded "Well then...What are we waiting for?! Let's go!" She said, rushing to the door. The other inhabitants quickly followed her as they ran out of their suite, and to the elevator. On the way down, Mei grabbed her phone and wrote a quick text
"Kaylo, You NEED to come back, It's a Wonderworld related EMERGENCY!!"
After sending it, the Elevator finally made it to the bottom as the group rushed outside...only to bump into Aria again "We've really have to stop meeting like this" She said with a chuckle. Aria helped Iben up, but took notice of her and her friends...strange behavior. "Is...Is everything alright?" She asked. Iben gave a tight, but panicked smile "Yep! Everything's fine, nothing to worry about! The fate of the world is totally not at stake here!" She lied.
Iben and the others quickly ran out of the hotel and rushed to find the Balan Theater, but Leo kept tripping over his feet, causing Eis and Jose to have to lift him up and carry him to the theater "Hurry! Not a moment to spare!" Lucy yelled, as they all followed the little Negati, all the while, panicked thoughts filled their heads.
A few blocks down, the group finally made it to the Balan Theater, and were now frantically pounding the door to get in "BALAN!! BALAN!! PLEASE OPEN UP!!" Sana yelled. The doors slowly opened, and revealed one of Balan's golden eyes, however, his usual smile was gone, and he was hiding more in the shadows than usually greeting them
"Oh good! You finally came, I don't know what I'd do if Lance was to Blame." He said, shrinking into the shadows. "Balan? What's wrong?" Yuri asked, not used to Balan, of ALL people (erm, Beings) to HIDE himself "it's quite alright dear Yuri, But for Lance's hiccups, you better hurry." The maestro said, still sticking to the shadows
Trisha Jane raised a eyebrow. "Balan...we have to know what's happening, and to do so, we need to actually see WHAT happened to you." She said. The group heard Balan sigh "Alright, I'll reveal my new form, but it's not what you're expecting, I must inform." He said, his voice sounding worried, and...afraid?
A spotlight lit itself in front of them, and the sound of a heel clacking against the ground got their attention. And, to their surprise, shock and Horror, they saw Balan.
But he had gained the resemblance of Lance...

The Moirai // Chapter 1
Fandom: Servamp Ship: KuroMahi Characters: Kuro, Mahiru
Summary: Mahiru is one of the three Moirai who wove the fate of humanity. He longs to be able to walk among people rather than watching them through his threads. One day, he meets Kuro and mends the wound in his heart with a golden thread. (KuroMahi, Greek mythology AU)
(Ch.1) // Ch.2 // Ch.3
Tumblr media
The thread beneath Mahiru’s fingers was worn and coarse. He worried that the frayed string would accidentally snap as he eased it free from the rose bush. He twirled the fragile string into a ring that rested heavily in his fingers. Countless strings hung around Mahiru in a variety of colours, lengths and materials. Each thread represented a human life and it was his duty as one of the three Moirai to maintain them.
Youtarou would spin the thread when a person was born. Mahiru measured the thread he made and weaved the course of their life. Finally, Tsurugi would cut the string once their time came. The Moirai resided in an oasis where they could weave people’s fate without influence from the outside world. They needed to be objective while they worked. However, as Mahiru watched humans through their thread, he felt curious about the world outside of his small oasis.
As humans lived their life, Mahiru would decide the consequences of their actions and record it in their thread. Their strong will fascinated him and he was a little envious. Mahiru might be able to guide people’s life but he had no control over his own path. He imagined what his life would be like if he woke up as a human tomorrow. Could he make a connection with someone apart from the string he held? What would it be like to form a bond with another soul and question about the future?
Mahiru knew he could never have the answers to those questions because his role as Lakhesis was important and he couldn’t abandon his position. He had been so busy weaving the threads around him that he had barely been able to talk with his brothers. He couldn’t stop the sigh that escaped him, heavy with longing. After he pushed aside those feelings to be ignored for another century, he returned to collecting the threads that draped from the trees and bushes.
There were so many strings around him that they formed a colourful veil. He didn’t notice someone approaching his oasis until his animal familiars, turtle doves, began to chirp frantically at the ocean. Mahiru hung the threads back onto the tree and then he picked up his staff. Cautiously, he parted the curtain of strings and he searched the beach for what caught his pets’ attention.
An unconscious man laid in the sand. Mahiru dropped the curtain and he jumped forward to help him. The man didn’t move but he doubted that he was dead because he could still see the red string of fate was still intact. Water splashed around his ankles as he reached his side. He didn’t appear to be injured but he didn’t know if it was safe to move him.
He knelt next to him and he placed his head on his lap so he wouldn’t drown. Then, he controlled the waves to recede back into the ocean. Mahiru leaned over him and he didn’t recognize him as a deity or a hero. Questions for who he was and how he came to his oasis swarmed his mind. He took the red thread in his hand and he twirled it around his fingers. To his confusion, he couldn’t see the man’s past or fate through his string.
The man groaned and he slowly opened his eyes. As he moved his hand, his thread became further tangled around Mahiru’s fingers until they formed a knot around his pinky. He was pulled forward and he leaned over him more. Their gaze met and the unique glow from his eyes made the man wince. Mahiru carefully loosened the thread from his pinky and he leaned back. “Are you hurt, Sir? How did you come to this island? Who are you?”
“One question at a time. My head is killing me.” He groaned. Kuro looked around him and his gaze finally fell onto Mahiru again. He could almost believe that he was in Elysium due to the serene atmosphere and the beautiful man above him. However, Elysium was a land in Hades for heroes and demi-gods so a damned soul like him would never be given entrance.
“Okay, we can start with one question. What’s your name?” Mahiru had numerous questions about the man but he didn’t push the stranger for answers. He could use his powers on the man’s thread to see what had brought him to the oasis of the fates.
“My name is Kuro Sleepy Ash Servamp. I came here to speak with the Moirai.” Kuro told him. A worried expression passed over Mahiru’s face and he could easily read his thoughts. Many people would pray to the Moirai for good fortune but few dared to visit their oasis. The three were the most powerful gods in Olympus and not even Zues could change the future once it was woven by them. “Are you a servant of the Moirai?”
“My name is Mahiru.” He gave him the name rather than his title of Lakhesis. Kuro struggled to sit up and Mahiru stopped him with a gentle hand on his shoulder. He held his palm over Kuro and he allowed his power to flow forward to heal him. Light fell from his fingers like stardust and it faded before it reached his body. His brows furrowed in confusion and he wondered why his power didn’t affect him.
Kuro pushed himself to his feet and then he held out his hand to help Mahiru stand. He noticed how the water had made the fabric of Mahiru’s elegant chiton translucent to show his legs. He blushed and he quickly turned away from him. “I tried to sail here on a boat but a storm overturned it. My brother would say that I was lucky because the gods were watching over me. I don’t believe they’re that benevolent.”
“The gods can be fickle and selfish but we all play a role in this world.” Mahiru nodded. He thought Kuro’s words were strange when he risked his life to visit the Moirai. He voiced that thought, “You came here to find the Moirai. I can take you to their shrine but there is no guarantee that they’ll appear to grant your wish. Many people have come to this oasis to postpone their death but fate remains the same.”
“There is no one else I can turn to anymore.” He sounded defeated and Mahiru bit his lip. He had seen humans struggle throughout humanity and he wished he could help them. However, it was dangerous to extend a human’s life or change their fate. Mahiru placed his hand on the one Kuro held out to him. He intended to squeeze his fingers and comfort him as he had seen humans done before.
Kuro assumed that he wanted his help standing so he lightly tugged him forward. He had remarkable strength for a human. Mahiru gasped as he was lifted to his feet and he stumbled forward. He caught himself by placing his hands on Kuro’s broad shoulders and he looked into his red eyes. The colour was unique and he had never seen a human like him before.
“You cannot enter the oasis but there is a temple at the entrance where you can pray to the Moirai.” Mahiru pulled away from him and he gestured across the beach. In the same motion, he summoned a warm breeze to dry his clothes. “I’ll walk you to the temple. The Moirai’s familiar will attack you if you accidentally wander into the oasis.”
“That would be troublesome but I don’t have to worry about them killing me. Sensei told me that I have a long thread.” Kuro’s voice held a mixture of emotions that Mahiru couldn’t understand. Louder than his sadness and bitterness, he could hear his loneliness. The wind shifted and it carried mist from the ocean. As the salty air washed over him, Kuro found himself relaxing slightly. He couldn’t explain why it felt comforting to him.
They walked along the beach in silence, neither knowing what to talk about. The topic of death hung heavy between them like the thread that the Moirai spun. Others had visited the temple but this was the first time Mahiru spoke with a human. He was curious to know what Kuro’s request would be. Mahiru glanced at the red string wrapped around Kuro’s pinky. While he wasn’t able to look into his thread, he could see that it was still long and strong so he wasn’t nearing death.
Finally, they reached the temple. The shrine to the Moirai was small and modest due to Mahiru’s request. He didn’t want gifts or sacrifices from humans who hoped to change their fate. The building was made of a single room and the pillars holding the roof were adorned with delicate, stone ribbones. In the center of the room was an altar surrounded by three statues. Each hooded figure represented a Moirai with their sacred item.
Kuro approached the altar and he took out a single rose from his robe. He was grateful that the flower hadn’t been destroyed after he fell into the water. He knelt in front of the statues and he stared at the one holding the staff. Lakhesis would measure a human’s life and read the stars with his sacred item. For someone who could hold constellations in his hand, would a simple rose move him to change fate?
“I came here to ask for my brother’s string to be extended. He’s sick and the oracle foresees that he will die within the month. Please, change his fate. JeJe has always been faithful to the gods.” Kuro’s hands tightened into fists and Mahiru watched his red thread waver. “You can take my thread and add it to his life. Surely, his life is worth more than someone like me.”
Kuro held his breath as he waited for the three Moirai to respond. Silence filled the air around them and it made his throat tighten. He thought that the gods had ignored his request, unaware that one was listening behind. Mahiru watched his stiff shoulders and he wondered what he should do. It was clear that Kuro loved his family to offer such an exchange. However, it was an impossible request.
Mahiru took a shaky breath before he entered the temple. The distance between them was only a few steps but each one was a long journey to him. He stood behind Kuro and gently laid his hand on his shoulder. He decided to approach him but what to say still escaped him. The only thing he could do was wrap his arms around him from behind and wrap him in a warm embrace.
“I’m sorry. I have two brothers and I understand how much yours must mean to you. Death is something inevitable though.” He whispered. The words choked him because death didn’t affect immortal gods the way it did a human. “Each person’s thread is unique to them and we can’t cut your life to give it to another. You still have a long thread ahead of you. Your brother wouldn’t want you to mar it with grief.”
“But my family isn’t human and our threads aren’t like others. The gods must be able to use my thread to extend his!” Kuro told him. He turned in his arms so he could show Mahiru the red string attached to his pinky. Only the Moirai should be able to see a human’s thread yet Kuro easily gathered it around his finger. “You’re their servant. Can you tell the Moirai to look at my string and find a way to give it to my brother? I don’t want this thread and it’s better to allow my brother to live!”
Mahiru thought that his string was different because he couldn’t see into his life as he could with a regular human’s. More questions swarmed his mind and it became a tangled knot. He lightly took the thread into his hand and he studied it closer. His brows furrowed. The material of the string was different from the yarn Youtarou would use while spinning fate.
“Follow me into the oasis. You need to tell me who wove this thread.” Mahiru let go of his thread and he took his hand. He worried about the implication behind Kuro’s artificial thread.

going back from what we’ve learnt from the most recent chapters, this moment mentioned in chapter 70 creates a whole lot darker tone on the years kuro spent between killing the count and that “fateful” meeting with mahiru, a whole two-hundred years later ...
kuro’s years in limbo are one, if not the biggest, plothole of servamp. for a man who has been asleep apparently since the 1800′s at the latest, he’s clearly able to use modern technologies, from being able to work a tv, portable game console and pot / ready made food with little to no difficulty, know the sound of a vaccum so much that he hates it and truly having no fear towards practically everything that can be found in mahiru’s house. considering the fact the last time he was awake, the main source of light that was used were candlelight, and how none of these inventions are a thing until the 1900′s at least. it proposes one question: just how is he able to adapt so easily? the easy answer would be one thing alone, and that’s the power of the servamps that runs through his pain, however .... kuros physical aversion and lack of knowledge towards both the alexa and the rhombas implies a different story. maybe ... just maybe. kuro himself has been awake between the timeframe the world eventually saw him as missing, or in lily and jeje’s case: asleep.
the period where kuro disappears off the face of the earth is explained to be around 200 ( give or take ) years, when the period of the “curse” is explained to be only 100. which leaves another period of 100 years where kuro just ... never showed up again. considering his and mahiru’s meeting was also hinted to be engineered by c3, there’s only one possibility where he could have been this entire time. the one place kuro has been shown to canonly hate the most ( beyond lily and jeje, who tricked him into such a ploy, tsubaki who ultimately tries to kill him, and even lawless, who taunts and taunts and taunts his biggest trauma point. ) c3.
kuro’s history with c3 is kept one of the most vaguest points in the entire show. it’s clear he hates them, as reaffirmed by inner!kuro on multiple occasions, but the history we’ve been shown so far only seems to show them as a small part of the problem. taking chapter 113 into account, the only real knowledge he’s held about the organisation comes from the dead body illido brings into the house with the ring, and gears comments when they eventually show up face to face just before he kills the count. neither of them include any information of some high class intel in which was wiped from existence, only the suggestion of what they wanted to do? and that was, to create an entirely new servamp.
combining that with the implication the dream kuro has always had, especially after such a traumatic event ( the death of the count and the revelation of just who exactly he was to kuro ). there’s a part of me that believes kuro did team up with c3 in order to create a new servamp. just not in the way neither us or he expected. considering how c3 in those times have already been proved to be manipulative, and the way kuro himself calls them out in the beginning of the manga to “not force mahiru to do things he doesn’t want to do”, it creates the idea that kuro still holds a grudge to them the most for doing this out of him. it’s the only way he could truly, truly know about such a high class, top secret event, and also explains just why he knows so much about the world he got shut out of. chapter 70 ... the idea of someone trying to create another servamp, is the worst we see kuro in years. if they did something like this? it becomes entirely less unfounded.
#as long as the rest of the worlds at peace ... this is fine#right?#❛    ♡    ›    jupiter   :   𝐨𝐨𝐜.#headcanon /#Long post /#it also explains a whole lot aka why kuro has that ball form when no one else does ...#but also this scene where inner!ku.ro points out he's still laying around in a dark room doing nothing when it seems when he was with gear#he also tended to sit around doing nothing instead#and it ALSO gives lore as to why kuro really went from as calm as he did when leaving gear / dealing with his siblings one last time#to being the literal sassy sarcastic man he became in chapter 1....#bc sleeping for a long time is supposed to make u feel better sir. ur attitude please</3#ill be honest i dont think its smth either lily or jeje know. but i think tsubaki does. only bc of the way he also is upset kuro doesnt#remember him ... which makes me think he was there for it all as well#if im honest. kuro doesnt trust c3 at all. not a single bit. theres people in c3 he trusts but as an organisation ... no#if mahiru didnt trust them hed be gone. as proved by the way even tho mahiru didnt want him to he was going to end toma right there and then#will he tell someone? who knows. one day maybe but even then its hard to explain u sleeping beautied for 100 years only to make the mistake#of teaming up with ppl#so revealing it the way he did .... no one apart from toma probs knew his involvement in it#holds kuro up like simba: this cat can fit so much trauma#large image /

world keeps spinnin’ (2/3)
world keeps spinnin’ | saratogaroad rating: G total wordcount: 4540 characters: Ori, Ku, Naru, Gumo relationships: Ori & Ku other tags: Adopted Sibling Relationship, Fix It, fuck canon I choose to be happy, warnings: mild blood, mild vomiting (poison)
A series of narrow escapes from and through the Forest of Niwen, and two lives irrevocably altered by the swiftly changing course of fate.
=
"I am well, little ones," Kwolok's voice rumbled instead of boomed, "Save the leaves for Ori."
Ori was too busy retching into the swamp to protest, his stomach heaving, his insides on fire. Ku was hovering worriedly behind him, cooing softly, darting back and forth behind him as his insides tried to become his outsides. She was unharmed, thank the Light; escorting the wounded Kwolok back from the Luma Pools whilst being hunted by the mass of Darkness from the Wellspring had been unexpected, and defending them both had taken nearly everything Ori had.
Maybe it had taken everything after all. Though it had only managed to grab hold of him once, the Darkness of that foul creature had eaten through his fur, poisoning him as swiftly as the once fouled waters of Nibel had. Ku had intervened to save his life, but the damage had been done. One final retch shuddered through his entire body, the sour taste of acid and Darkness lingering on his tongue. It never got any easier to stomach.
Coughing, trembling, Ori sat back. Still cooing worriedly, Ku nuzzled up behind him so as to let him lean against her. They both looked up at Kwolok. The great toad spirit was wounded, his injuries from his tussle with the Darkness worse than Ori had first thought, but he was alive. He was too stubborn to die, Ori thought, but his power was spent. He could no longer hold back the Decay. It was already pressing in, the plants going gray and dying, the water turning brackishly foul. It had taken weeks for the Decay of Nibel to really claim the Swallow's Nest after Kuro had torn Sein from the tree, but something told Ori that it wouldn't be so slow here. Niwen was dying.
How long until it took everyone inside with it? It had already claimed the Silent Woods, and the thought of Ku frozen in stone and ash like all those owls made his tired heart skip a beat.
"Are you alright, Ori?" Kwolok leaned down to ask. Dozens of Moki were crawling across his hide, pressing goo covered leaves to his injuries. There was still blood dripping from his nose, but his concern was entirely for Ori. "The Darkness is not easy on creatures of Light such as yourself."
No. But it had happened before. Ori swallowed hard, his throat aching.
"I'm fine," He rasped. Ku's worried coo buzzed through his skin. Lurching forward, he tried to push himself up. "We have to...we have to get the heart..."
Pushing himself to his hooves, he tried to ignore the shaking in his legs. He'd had worse, he told himself. This wasn't his first time being poisoned. He'd made it through just fine before. And maybe he had, but this time he couldn't. Before he could take more than a single step, his strength gave out.
"Ori!" Ku shrieked, lunging forward. She caught him on a wing before he could hit the ground, helping him to sit back down. "Ori, please--you need to take it easy!"
"We don't have time," Ori got out between heaving gulps of air. He just had to...he had to keep her safe...he had to get up! Planting both paws on the ground, he went to push himself up again, "We have to...if the Willow dies, then..."
"Ori..."
"Ku! Ori!"
They both turned so quickly they nearly toppled over in a tangle. Naru came bursting from the cove, a horde of Moki running at her heels and Gumo barely a pace behind.
"Mama Naru!"
Ku bolted forward, meeting Naru halfway down the path before she leapt into Naru's waiting arms. Naru spun her around, bouncing her high into the air as she laughed with relief. Ku barely had time to fold her wings in before Naru pulled her in to a tight hug, nuzzling their faces together. Tears flooded Ori's eyes; he didn't know how they had gotten there, but he couldn't bring himself to care. Mama was there. That was all that mattered. He struggled to his hooves.
"Gumo!"
Gumo's rich laughter filled the marsh as he reached out to catch Ku in both hands. She spent all of a second in his grip before he started to bounce her up, up, higher and higher, until her giggles mixed with his relief. Naru was still smiling as she turned her attention to Ori, but that smile soon dropped away.
"Ori!"
Ori tried to smile, one arm wrapped around his middle. He took a step towards her.
"Mama--"
His legs gave way. Before he could hit the ground, Naru was on him, scooping him up into her arms and cradling him against her chest. She was warm, soft, familiar, and the tears began to fall. He clung to her with all of his strength, what little was left to him now.
"Ori, oh, Ori," Mama Naru whispered, holding him close, "My little light. You're alright now, shh, shh, you're alright,"
Her familiar warble vibrated through his body and something inside of him snapped. Safe in her arms once more, Ori let go. It started with a tiny hiccup that quickly grew into a sob that he could not keep from building into a wait, chest deep and painful. He couldn't stop them, didn't even try. It had only been a few days since they'd taken to the skies and so much had gone wrong! Everything had gone so wrong...
"Shh, shh," Naru continued to soothe, not caring about the mess he was making of her fur. She bounced him gently, stroked a hand down his back. "I'm here, I'm here."
She was.
It took some time for Ori's sobs to abate, leaving him hollow-chested and sniffling. Naru held him aloft to look at his face; Ori scrubbed at his eyes with one paw and couldn't smile at her. She shook her head, pulling him back into her embrace.
"You two have had quite the adventure, haven't you?" Gumo's voice sounded from behind them. Ori looked up over Naru's shoulder to see the gumon walk forward towards them, Ku perched on the top of his head. "Coming this far with that feather! What happened to it, anyway?"
"It's...we lost it," Ku said with a disheartened croon, "I can't fly anymore..."
"Not to worry, not to worry," Gumo comforted her, "We can make you something better back home."
Home. Yes, home. Nibel, with its sprawling forests and twisting rivers, the warmth of the sun on his back, the sweet tang of the fruits in Swallow's Nest. He longed for it now, sniffling, hiding away in Naru's warm embrace. Water rippled behind him.
"Ah, so you are Ori and Ku's parents," Kwolok rumbled down at them warmly, "Well met, denizens of Nibel. I am Kwolok."
"Well met, spirit of Niwen," Naru greeted with a smile in her voice, "Thank you for looking after our little ones. We will be taking them home now."
"I am afraid it is not so simple," Kwolok began, but Ori found himself tuning out the toad spirit's explanation. Ku hopped from Gumo's head to Naru's shoulder, leaning down to nuzzle him. Ori sniffled again, turning to lean their foreheads together. Gumo wrapped them all up in his long arms, listening to Kwolok speak.
They weren't finished. Niwen still needed their help, somehow, but for those few moments, everything was right in the world.

The Goddess that Defied Fate [Huedhaut x OC] Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Shiro didn’t talk to anyone unless she had to. She felt like the empty shell of the proud goddess she once was. She was the goddess of fate, Clotho. But she was also the human, Shiro. Her memories weren’t the only thing she kept from that life. She still had her divine powers. But that didn’t change the fact that she was human now. What she wanted, more than anything, was something forever out of her grasp.
“This month has been hell…” she muttered to herself.
“Don’t say that. The month isn’t over yet.” From her place lying on her bed, Shiro turned to the source of the voice.
“Vega.”
“Long time no see, Lady Shiro,” the little girl beamed.
“I wasn’t expecting to see you. Do you have a job for me?” Shiro asked, sitting up.
“I’m actually not here about work today… I’d like you to come to the mansion with me. There’s someone I’d like you to meet.”
Shiro let Vega take her to the mansion only to be met by Leon’s annoyed face.
“You’re late. It’s like you really do enjoy keeping me waiting,” he scolded her harshly.
“It’s not my fault you’re so impatient all the time,” she retorted.
“That’s no way to speak to a lady, Leo. Nice to meet you, Shiro.” Her eyes widened when she saw him.
“Karno… Long time no see. What are you doing here?” she asked. Karno’s eyes widened.
“Oh, done pretending you don’t know anything?” Leon retorted.
“So you knew,” Shiro muttered.
“You didn’t do a very good job of hiding it,” Leon replied. Karno furrowed his brows in confusion at our exchange. “This girl is the same oddball goddess she’s always been.”
“So you retained all of your memories from when you were a goddess?” Karno asked, his eyes wide. Shiro nodded once. “And you’re Kuro’s sister, as well.” she nodded again. “When I heard about you and Kuro, I wasn’t expecting you to be so adorable.”
Shiro sighed again. “Flattery has always been your speciality.”
“I was being honest…” Karno protested. “Anyway, sorry to summon you all of a sudden. I’m here today to speak to you about Hue.” Karno’s demeanour turned serious. You see, Leo’s worried.”
“Nonsense… I don’t remember saying I was ‘worried’ about anyone,” Leon retorted, having sat back down on the sofa.
“I heard Hue became inappropriately emotional on the night of the meteor shower. I’m assuming he acted that way because he found out your memories returned…”
“They were never lost.”
“But Hue didn’t know that, did he?” Karno smiled wryly.
“No, he didn’t. Still, he acted as anyone would in that situation. Besides, it’s partly my fault for never telling him the truth.” Shiro sat down on the sofa opposite Leon.
“You and Hue were both famous in the heavens. You were the perfect couple in the eyes of all who knew you,” Karno said. She smiled wryly. “Gods in the heavens said they had never seen a couple more in love.”
“They said that about us?” She never realised.
“They did.” Karno smiled.
Her smiled faded. “I ruled over the fates, but I couldn’t stop the calamity Earth faced back then. I still remember it clearly. Nearly all humans closed their hearts to love. We couldn’t protect them. Most gods said it would be best to forget about Earth. It didn’t surprise me since so many of them looked down on humans, but I couldn’t abandon them. I had to do something.”
“You said you can change the fate of those humans who have lost the ability to love.” The faintest hint of a smile was playing on Karno’s lips. It was a sad smile. “You decided to destroy yourself in order to save the humans.”
“The great goddess of fate. She turned misfortune on its head and led the humans to happiness. So they all lived happily ever after.” The cynicism in Leon’s voice made her look away.
“I feel like I’m being mocked,” Shiro muttered. “Karno?” she looked up at the god of Cancer. “How did Hue react… after I did that?”
“He seemed to accept it. He said, ‘This is destiny’. I don’t know how he really felt.”
“Just like me, huh…” she leaned back and looked up at the ceiling. “I don’t believe in that anymore.”
“You… don’t?” Karno was visibly shocked.
Shiro shook her head. “I used to say it so much back then. It’s ironic to think how long I lived as a goddess, looking down at the humans, granting their wishes, yet I understood so little about them. I had to live as human to realise that destiny isn’t predetermined. It’s something that humans – and gods – shape with their own hands. Humans are weak, and they know they’re weak. That’s exactly why they live every day to the fullest. I never fully appreciated that about them.” Shiro looked back at the gods in front of her. “But I… never wanted Hue to be in pain like this. To go through all of it alone.”
“The story should end here, but there’s a bit more.”
She smiled wryly. “I know. Hue did something forbidden. It was a very serious sin. My soul should have ceased to exist that day, but he sacrificed the stars in his one eye so that I would be reborn. And he got exiled for it. Because he interfered with life and death…”
“Exactly. Only the king of the heavens is allowed to intervene in matters of life and death,” Karno said.
“We all instantly recognised you as a former god when we saw the stars in your eyes. I suspected you might be the goddess of fate, but to think you hung on to your memories…” Leon added.
Shiro closed her eyes for a moment before opening them again. “I’m not that goddess anymore. I’m different than that time.”
Leon sat next to her and poked her in the forehead. “Hue’s mark is more faded than anyone else’s now. Continue to spend time with Hue. Fulfil your role.”
“Leo…” Karno warned.
“What’s wrong with me telling her the truth?” Leon asked. Karno sighed.
“He’s right, Karno. I want Hue to return to the heavens, where he belongs.” She smiled slightly before leaving the room.
“Shiro.” Hue was waiting for her in the hallway.
“Hue…”
“I was waiting for you. Let’s talk. If that’s okay with you, that is,” he said.
“Yeah.” Relieved, she followed him.
Hue and Shiro walked in silence before stopping to stand in the courtyard with a patch of blooming flowers behind them. “Having you see me when I had lost my composure rattled me. But you didn’t do anything wrong.”
“That night was hard on you, too.” She looked to the side, rubbing her arm. She took an unsteady breath. “I still remember it vividly. I loved the humans and their world, but it was more than just that. The king knew, that’s why he had me work in the palace in the first place. It was my fate all along. But even if it wasn’t, I would have done it. Because I wasn’t the only one who loved humans.” Shiro looked into his eyes. “I wanted to save the humans that you loved, too. I’m glad I was able to. I wasn’t expecting to be reincarnated. I was really confused that I was, but somehow, I got the feeling you had something to do with it. I used to dream of this. Meeting you again, being with you… It was a wish I never dared to say out loud. But then I saw you again. I wanted to tell you, to embrace you, with every fibre of my being, but I knew that there would be no going back if I did that. I tried to make excuses, saying that I didn’t deserve to be with you now after leaving you like that.” Hue’s eyes widened. She felt the corners of her eyes sting and blinked rapidly. “But really, I was just scared. I know how this ends. Your sin will be absolved and you’ll return home. But I’m human now. The heavens isn’t a place I belong anymore. I didn’t want us to have to say goodbye like that again, so I hid the truth from you. I shouldn’t have done that. I’m sorry.”
Hue stared at her, wide-eyed. She didn’t fail to notice the silver lining his eyes. “Clotho.”
She smiled sadly and shook her head. “That isn’t my name anymore, Hue. I’m Shiro now, remember?” A long silence ensued.
“Funny, isn’t it? A straight-laced stick in the mud like me in love,” Hue finally spoke.
“I don’t see what’s so funny about it. I was happy, you know. Incredibly happy.” A breeze blew through the courtyard.
“I couldn’t understand why you, alone, had to allow yourself to be sacrificed,” Hue’s voice cracked with emotion.
“That isn’t what happened, Hue,” Shiro snapped. Hue’s eyes widened. “I gave my life of my own free will. I didn’t ‘allow myself to be sacrificed’. Don’t talk about me like I was a victim.” The wind blew harder, flower petals dancing through the air. His long fingers reached out towards her until his hand was rested on her cheek. Shiro placed her hand over his.
“Shiro.” The way he said her name made a lump form in the back of her throat. She swallowed hard.

· At first glance, he seems like a lazy and mediocre child.
· It is nice to meet people, but there are places where there is no place.
· The power of the clan is accompanied by the soft silver light.
[POSITION, OBJECTIVES]
Originally a proud genius from Germany, he devoted himself to researching the Dresden Slate. At the time, he dreamed of the bright future of humanity with the power of the Dresden Slate, but he lost his sister, Claudia, in the Dresden airstrike, and fell to the bottom of disappointment. He turns into a certain kind of disgrace. After that, he lived an isolated life in heaven for almost 70 years, but he lost his memory from the seizure of power by the Seventh King, and his consciousness changed when he woke up again. Although it was a short time, the experience of living with Kuro Yatogami and Neko had a great influence.
[PERSONALITY, CONDUCT]
Although there are some parts that seem to be a bit neglected, after regaining Weismann's memory, he began to have doubts about the surface of the Slate and began to realize what was really important to him.
Regaining Weismann's memory, even if he wakes up as the "Silver King", his basic character remains almost unchanged. As usual, he is the type to laugh, even if the situation is serious. As you can see from the fact that he was a precocious genius and had few friends, he was originally unfit for "king". Although he's worthy when it comes time to call him out, he doesn't really think of grouping a lot of people together like Rey, and he's not good at it. However, he is prepared to act as their leader while forming close relationships with a very small number, Neko and Kuro. He seems open and positive to everyone, but in fact it may be that he is carefully selecting people to associate with.
For Shiro, the happiness that surrounds a human and a platform that can be protected is the most important. In that sense, he is quite different from Munakata and Kokujoji. Ichigen Miwa may be the closest thing.
He seems elusive and incomprehensible, but when it comes to his heart, he begins to move forward and prepare.
[FATE, ENDING]
To the Green Clan who want to empower all human beings by using the Slate, Shiro will deny the Slate that he ever dreamed of the happy future of humanity.
We concluded that instead of the supernatural power of a huge stone slab, he would choose a future that he would make with his friends around him, and confront Nagare, causing a change that would destroy people's little happiness.
[ABILITIES, TACTICS]
At the beginning of the story, he was a normal person, but when he woke up as the "King" at the end of the first term, he used his fluffy flying ability with an umbrella, a barrier, and a Neko-mediated mind-transmission ability. He is not good at direct attacks, but he has a wide range of applications and great power.
Mainly defense. Immortality.
Since he was a scholar when he was Weismann, he was not good at exercising.
[POWER]
A + (Superior in the "King" class, but does not participate in voluntary combat.)
[LIKES]
His favorite food is white rice.
It is said that the food that Kuro makes is very delicious, but he appreciates most things. Neither gourmet nor sensitive tongue. A relatively harsh taste.
[DISLIKE]
Nothing particularly. Those who speak loudly in meetings.
[HOBBIES]
He has always loved reading as an art culture since the Weismann days, but it is subtle to say that it is a hobby.
He likes to joke around and chat with others.
Researching science in general is a hobby, but it is inextricably linked to work. He didn't need distractions because he used to work as a hobby.
After meeting Kuro, eating rice became one of his hobbies.
[FASHION]
Perhaps because he was born before the war, his fashion sense is a little different from that of young today.
[BODY]
He was tall in the Weismann period, but Isana's body is small and delicate. Sometimes majesty doesn't look good.
[INTELLIGENCE]
Very high. Originally called "double headed genius" with his sister Claudia, a scientific genius. He has knowledge of science and technology in general. Furthermore, he is a mere scholar and possesses such a wealth of knowledge that he can pursue flexible subjects outside of his specialty. Furthermore, he is also good with tricks and deception that fools the opponent.
He also likes to play games and make jokes. He has an expert and generalist perspective. However, he rarely uses it for practical purposes.
[BELIEFS]
There was a panoramic view of all phenomena from Weismann's height. Mental in nature, he is a lonely person. He may have come from the first half of life when he had no other person to open his mind to except Claudia and Kokujoji because he had transcendent intelligence. Weismann entered the lonely life due to the loss of his sister, Claudia, but he was not completely abandoned in his life, such as following his only friend, Kokujoji, to Japan.
Since he became Isana Yashiro, his mindset has changed considerably after he formed ties with Kuro and Neko. It seems that the important thing among him is probably not the country or the ideal, but the important people within his reach.
[RELATIONSHIPS]
[EARLY YEARS]
He was called a double-headed genius with his sister, Claudia, since he was a child. He participated in the study of the Dresden Slate and met his longtime friend Kokujoji.
Due to his incomparable intelligence, he was a lonely entity, which he could not easily meet with others. From that moment on, he was cheerful and liked mischief.
[TIMELINE]
· 1922, Adolf K. Weismann is born.
· 1943, Weismann participates in the investigation of the Dresden Slate. He advances in the analysis of the Slate.
· 1944, Weismann meets Kokujoji.
· 1945, February, Dresden airstrike, Weismann awakens as the "Silver King".
· 1945, April, Kokujoji brings the Slate to Japan, Weismann and Kokujoji say goodbye.
· 1947, Weismann visits Himmelreich.
· 2012, December, the “Colorless King” took over Weismann's body, and fell on Gakuenjima with the boy's body and became Isana Yashiro.
[ATTITUDE AND THOUGHTS TOWARDS OTHERS]
[TERMS OF THE ADDRESS FOR HIMSELF]
The first person is "Boku", and the second person is "Kimi" or "Anata".
[TOWARDS KOKUJOJI DAIKAKU]
He calls him "Lieutenant".
In the Weismann era, it was almost a farewell decision, but once he was awakened by the "King" as Isana Yashiro, he was able to face another stance. He has a complicated affection for him that he cannot describe in one word.
[TOWARDS YATOGAMI KURO]
He calls him "Kuro", "Kimi".
He is more important than a servant, and he believes that he is more like a family. The part that depends on him is great.
[TOWARDS NEKO]
He calls her "Neko" or "Kimi".
Like Kuro, she is more of a friend and family than a subject. There is no romantic feeling so far.
[TOWARDS HISUI NAGARE]
He calls him "Nagare", and "Kimi".
A young man who tries to realize his dream of changing the world with the power of the Slate, which he used to see. He thought that he could make everyone happy with the great power of the Slate, but he only saw others as "humanity" and did not see the little happiness of each person. It is the responsibility of those who have started it all, to prevent Nagare from trying to cause chaos in the world by releasing the Slate.

Overpowering Intelligence
Unable to even draw up to celebrate. Captain and Shiro struggled but collapsed. Judas finally canted his visage noticeably wheezing before rotating to his leader and giving a thumbs up. Mission successful. Then he suddenly convulsed and a puncturing gladius came burrowing through his sternum. Eyes gravely looked with a blurriness. Kuro’s sudden reaction unbelievably twisted in horror. Judas fell face first and planted into the pavement. Shiro followed suit with disbelief. Ebony encased in knightly armor was his mourned Ser.Arcticus now turned into a half-skull necromanctically summoned knight of beckoning. Glowing red-consumptive eyes were his only brim sockets. Both the Miqo'te erupted, each of their most cherished were desecrated at the same-time! Each of them weakly drained still in unity charged with sheer heed. Captain lobbing forth a punch as Shiro enchanted it with a wave of his tattered white-glove hand to a diamond ice. The Gladius defended against the onslaught as Captain engagingly blew up with staggeringly kick’s and combining fist. The unkindly rival’s emotion’s were in temporary alliance again. Shiro kept augmenting Captain’s change in formed attacks. But also educationally was scanning the room with his lingering eye drifting back and forth. Silv’a that monster had to be alive, somewhere, even if a piece. Even delivering hit’s Captain’s blows carried no meaning to this ebony armor only but absorbed dents. And that gladius kept increasing against the relenting speed in terrific amp. Parrying each other back and taking traces of chunks of flesh of the brutish Seeker. His ink of black was being recoated into sanguine. Each new slice makes his movement’s slower but his impact found increases from being berserk. Aether flashing between a marine blue into a haphazard tease of crimson. Captain was about to receive a fatal directive slash before Shiro reached in and grabbed his own comrade by the back of the collar and sent him hurling back. Then he took the frontal stage. The Seeker served as support kicking the Mol’usa rapier from earlier back into the rightful hands and the Noble began his fencing and duelist style. If any trained with the standing and fighting style of Arcticus it was him. The Seeker bent to a knee feeling the effects of him losing his stamina. Before exhaling his panting and screaming it out in detest. He used his long-leg heritage to animalistically leap against the wall and parkour off it to get behind the Necromantic Knight. Attacking from different directions and angles, making him struggle between the pair. Swishing rotating blade came hurling into the fan at the Seeker as the Keeper struck at the exploitative weak of the ankle. The Seeker dastardly dodged before awaiting it’s next spin and meeting it prematurely and buried his palm through the entire blade and punctured himself. His second hand overlapped and caught the point it’d meet resistance. Shiro punctured through the opportunity and unleashed a freezing bone cooling ice from the link of his tipped blade. Then they both felt a shooting heat pierce them each in their legs setting them off balance from finishing the job with a few more randomly at extremities. “Surprise boys, I’m back.” A baritone with newly appointed horn’s came frightening above. Each of them forced onto their backs they barred him transcendentally lifted above them high within the air. Demonically recuperative. “Aw you look so shook to see me again.” Crossing his arms with uncontrollable laughter with despair he was empowered. There was nothing as thrilling as seeing someone helpless and vulnerable. Their trifling resistance all went to vain. His puppeted Knight was decommissioned by the freeze but was thawing out by Silv’a’s palm providing a flash of warmth. “You’re unworthy for me now. I’ve ascended to the pinnacle.” His entire body was feeling nearly at the frontal of being demi-blessed. His diabolical and grimace look proved. It was preordained whether or not it was this band or any incoming herald’s of light. When he slaughtered the staff. He took one far into the upper-quarters into a private room and desecrated an Elezen identically to his characteristics and aspect. Then ritualistically called a contingency plan. If for whatever reason his body was obliterated. He’d have a fail-safe. A complete transference of mastered necromancy awaited. So when Judas destructively annihilated him at the last-ilm he foresaw one final foresight that he’d receive. Giving him enough breath to softly exhale his soul’s transfer over. The bomb’s cloud helped him conceal his aetherical drift weaving over like dust particles from creased window seals slowly traveling airborne before arriving at the conducted point. Simultaneously that plan also warranted him to always have a surprise ambush and attack of his own. He picked the most credible fighter among the lot to also receive it’s awakening at the same crucial point of his fall. It was all ingeniously splayed. The commotion allowed him to slip back and start leeching and eating like a gluttonous fiend on more tormented soul’s escaping the maw. Reaching even newer grandeur.

In/spectre vs The Detective is Already Dead: Every Masterpiece Has its Cheap Imitation
So I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. While I did only give In/spectre an 8/10 due to its admittedly weak pacing, it was also one of my favorite anime to come out last year. I love the character chemistry and banter, it was enough to make me forgive the pacing a million times over. And The Detective is Already Dead sets itself up similarly to In/spectre with some great character interaction and a main girl that reminded me a LOT of Kotoko (and you can take one look at my profile picture to know how I feel about Kotoko). But if you’ve been reading my posts, you’d have seen that The Detective is Already Dead was the first show I dropped this season. So while I was initially very interested in everything the show had set up, there was a point where it all went wrong, and admittedly I don’t think it was Episode 2. Today I wanna take a deep dive into both series, and explain why one is a masterpiece and one is a disappointment.
Structure
The Detective is Already Dead has the most screwed-up story structure I’ve ever seen in an anime... and I watched God of High School. My biggest problem with the way the show is structured is that the chronology being completely random isn’t my only issue. We gleam two major facts from episodes 1-3: Siesta has passed away, and her heart is within the body of another girl. For whatever ungodly reason, knowing this we go back to a flashback where Siesta is fighting a kaiju with toxic breath that could wipe out the entire nation of Japan. Now tell me, if Siesta were to be killed by this monster, would she have any salvageable body parts left over? Hell no. And therein lies my problem: the way that the story has already gone through its motions leaves NO room for feelings of stakes or tension in these flashback sequences. It’s not just the chronological whiplash that bogs the whole thing down, but the fact that we already know Siesta’s fate makes these “intense” flashback sequences utterly pointless (I’ll get to why “intense” was put in quotations later). I honestly did not mind the idol arc at all, but at the end of said arc, a new character was teased, only for her to not be introduced in the following episodes. There are SO many structural issues that I was baffled, it continually left me with more questions than answers and not in the way a good mystery series does so. More often than not, the question it left me with was “What the fuck were they thinking?”
In/spectre on the other hand is structurally sound. It jumps around occasionally but it covers events that are entirely relevant to the lives of our two lead characters and their relationship. Additionally, while the pacing is admittedly lackluster, it’s not confusing. We see the high-stakes war between Kotoko and Rikka unfold in real-time, with Kotoko’s plan to rid the world of Steel Lady Nanase encoutering numerous logical hurdles. Again, I’ll get into why this works down the line. But for now, I wanna talk a bit more about:
Character Chemistry
The chemistry between Kotoko and Kuro is a real saving grace for the show. I’m gonna be bringing up the term “saving grace” a few more times for In/spectre, and I do realize that the term is typically used for good qualities of bad media, but here’s where I’m coming from on this: pacing is something that I typically put a LOT of stock into for an anime. However, when the other qualities are so enjoyable that I can put weak pacing to the side, I consider those qualities a saving grace. All that being said, every interaction between Kotoko and Kuro brought a genuine smile to my face. The witty banter and innuendo shared between them is not only well-written, but reserved for the right moments. It never breaks the tension that the show has worked so hard to build up, rather it’s present in their initial meeting, their moments shared in the hotel, and after the conflicts they encounter have been resolved. There are occasionally tongue-and-cheek jokes thrown into the preludes to action sequences but they’re very quick laughs as immediately after we’re thrown right back into the action. The timing and writing in In/spectre is just top-notch and they’re a direct result of how naturally Kotoko and Kuro’s conversations flow and how well the two completely different leads compliment each other.
The only character Kimihiko had good chemistry with is fucking dead now. Moving on.
Action
In/spectre is not very heavy on the action, but two scenes in the show’s runtime did make my jaw drop: the conclusion of episode 1, and the scene where Kuro pulls his body across the I-beam impaled into his chest to punch Nanase in the face. Kotoko and Kuro have a bit of a “brains and brawn” dynamic going on. While Kuro is by no means unsmart, Kotoko is definitely more of the master strategist, while Kuro can use his immortality to keep their target at bay. This present is incredibly present in the fight with Steel Lady Nanase. Kuro is constantly knocked down, battered, bruised, impaled, yet he keeps rising back up to give Kotoko enough time to work her magic. It’s a plan that promises nothing but searing pain for Kuro, and throughout it all I was constantly wondering, at what point will Kuro break? This has been happening for numerous episodes, when will he not be able to get back up? The fact that In/spectre made me feel that there were stakes for an IMMORTAL BEING is, in hindsight, kind of amazing.
In direct contrast, The Detective is Already Dead really falls off after the first fight. While looking back on it, it is really dumb that Siesta was able to bring a gun onto an airplane, on first watch I honestly really liked what I was seeing in the fight between her and tentacle boy (I don’t remember his name and I don’t feel like looking it up). And what got me REALLY invested was the way Siesta didn’t actually kill him, rather faking his death and having him imprisoned. I was invested for a key reason: the show’s title isn’t exactly spoiler-free, but it got me wondering, is Siesta ACTUALLY dead? Is she truly gone from this world, or is her “death” in name only like Tentacle Boy’s, and do I actually get to see more of this enjoyable, In/spectre-style character dynamic? Sadly, this was thwarted by episode 2′s reveal of the girl that received Siesta’s heart. Again, a horrifically paced sequence between episodes that kills any momentum the series had built up.
Additionally, it was during the fight between Siesta and Petelguise that I felt the show had genuinely hit rock bottom, because they made a fight between a cute waifu in a mech suit and a kaiju that could wipe out all of Japan in a moment’s notice BORING. I didn’t touch on it much during my initial explanation of why I dropped the show, but I wanna elaborate a bit. First of all, as I said previously, there are no stakes to be found. We KNOW that Siesta can’t die here. Secondly, the movement is just so wooden, there’s no attempt at animating the fight in an exciting way, rather it just feels like they’re going through the motions to convey the words of the light novel without trying to get it to translate to video form. Finally, there’s WAY too much dialogue and it drags down the entire sequence by making the chase scene way longer than it needs to be, and given the show’s propensity to really over-season every scene with dialogue, I imagine this was the same for future action sequences as well. I dropped the show as soon as Siesta jumped onto the clock tower with Petelguise, because it was in that moment I realized: I feel literally nothing right now.
The last point of comparison I want to draw between these two shows is:
Bullshit
Thinking about the very different way these two shows use the art of bullshitting is honestly the reason I wanted to make this post. Kotoko’s solution to the entire Steel Lady Nanase conflict is, after all, the art of bullshitting. What makes it work is the fact that it’s the perfect solution to what the situation calls for. I know this is a bit of an odd comparison, but In/spectre is like a reverse version of Elf starring Will Ferrell. Unlike how at the end of Elf, they wanted to make everyone believe in Santa to restore his power, Kotoko’s ambition is to get the Internet to toss out their belief in Steel Lady Nanase to rid her of her power as a “monster of the imagination.” If people maintain their belief in this monster of Rikka’s imagination, there’s no realistic way to stop her. Here lies the biggest obstacle, however: the power of imagination is so strong that Nanase has become a very real entity, responsible for multiple murders. Kotoko can’t just magically find an incriminating piece of evidence that outs Nanase as superstition, so her only solution is to trick the people of the internet and convince them that she’s a myth. As she does this, her invented inference runs into skepticism and she has to continue to bullshit her way out of it until finally, she’s created an explanation for the recent string of murders with no holes in its argument. It’s an arduous process but one that does have to be drawn out as Kotoko very clearly and intentionally sets up explanations that would draw skepticism before inventing an excuse that refutes any potential counter-arguments. It’s honestly the equivalent to someone writing a 50-page college thesis with no research and successfully defending it.
Siesta, on the other hand, is the most annoying kind of supergenius character. Personally, I love Siesta. I think her character design is great, I think she’s funny and that she shares some really enjoyable dialogue with Kimihiko, so when the show isn’t butchering fight scenes I actually really enjoyed her screen time. So it’s not Siesta herself that bothers me, but it’s the way that the plot is so willing to let her make perfect deductions with the most minimal knowledge given to her. This also reminds me a bit of Sherlock in Moriarty the Patriot, with his ability to make perfect deductions from just a glance at the scene of the crime, but it works well in Holmes’ case because all of the necessary evidence is in that confined space. Siesta on the other hand is just magically able to decipher a villain’s motivation and weaknesses with a two-minute conversation... yeah I don’t buy it.
So that’s about it, I probably could have drawn up more contrasts if I had actually continued watching The Detective is Already Dead, but it became such an abject disappointment that I just ended up going back to In/spectre instead. You know, a mystery show where the writers and animators knew what they were doing.

if you still doin that character thingy... Kanda, pls? or Krorykins, whichever u wanna do more, cuz i cannot choose 😅
*breathes in* This is it. This is how I finally get to write about two characters in one go because I also can’t choose XD I hope you don’t mind this getting long and thank you for giving me them, you beautiful human being! 🥺
Kanda
My otp for them: With Alma, no doubt (only trust!). Alma’s last moments break my heart, in a good way - they are soulmates meant to be. Their story is very sad and yet extremely touching and beautiful. I have a thing for lovers who meet again in their next lives, as I’m a sucker for the “red string of fate” myth. I get emotional just thinking of their relationship, and I wish, I really wish, that if they have another chance, that they can meet again and finally be happy together without being torn apart by the tragedies of war. My brotp for them: Weirdly enough, I’d say Allen! After Alma arc, Kanda seems to be a lot softer than before, and I’ve been loving the mutualism between him and Allen. They are very alike (as much as they hate to admit it), and that’s why they can understand each other well and know what the other needs without him needing to say anything. They’re both not good at talking about their feelings. Any other ships: With Lenalee! I know most people see their relationship as a brotherly one, but man, they have such good chemistry together. They bicker often, but just imagine what a killer duo they would be 💦 I’m weak for powerful couples. They know each other ever since they’re little, so they have shared a lot of moments together and know each other well, too - the scene in which Lenalee goes to meditate with him because she was scared of Lvellie was adorable; she feels safe around him. Their best friend: I want to say Marie! I think Kanda would rather people who don’t snoop around too much into his personal space, and Marie simply knows where these boundaries are at. He also knows how to deal very well with Kanda’s temper. He understands him but also knows of his flaws, yet he doesn’t question or confronts him, which I’m sure Kanda appreciates. He’s been recently showing that he cares a lot about Johnny as well, but deep down, Kanda does care about many of the people close to him.  My favorite nickname for them: It’s gotta be Bakanda, the pun is just great XD It doubles in greatness because, in my language/official release, this got translated as “BabaKanda”, which is also a pun! In Portuguese, “babaca” is the same as “idiot”. So I appreciate this silly pun a lot more thanks to that XD My favorite AU headcanon of them: I think that, sadly, Kanda won’t make it alive to the end of the story. I headcanon that, in case he does die, it’s after repaying his debt with Allen in a roundabout way; he did help Allen, but at the same time, he went to rest in peace together with Alma. And Allen did fight for them to be happy together, so I just... kinda want this to be true. It would pain me to see Kanda go, but this would be his happy ending and he deserves this. My favorite outfit they wear: A hard pick! Kanda is very handsome so basically, anything he puts on will look awesome. However, the one moment that made me go 💓 was when we saw him in civilian clothes (Chapter 208). Jesus Christ!? He was stunning. I really like his current Order uniform + outer coat combo too, looks so comfy and warm. Defining color: When I think of Kanda, I think of a mix of colors. Namely, Cobalt (#1338BE), Carnation (#FFA6C9) and Indigo (#4B0082). I believe it’s because of the Lotus Pain ending using this palette for the effects of the lotus flowers shining in contrast with the dark background colors. Would I date them: As handsome and amazing as he is, I wouldn’t. I know he’d hate my guts because I’m the type of person who wants to overthink and needlessly talk things over more than he should, and Kanda simply abhors the very idea of this 😂 He is a simpleminded guy, and I quite like that on him. First impression: I knew Kanda wouldn’t be the bland “angry asshole character” trope during his and Allen’s first mission together, in Martel. What he told Allen left a mark and made me think there was a lot more depth to him: "I hate the way naive people like you do things... And even more so, I hate people who don't keep their promises!" This one line told me a lot about his personality. Current impression: Pretty much my first impression, but with a lot more context! I really love Kanda and his past was a surprise to me. It made me appreciate him even more than I already did. Hogwarts House: I’d say Slytherin. He would stop at nothing until he found “that person”, and this House is well known for the ambition of its people. He’s also sharp and while not smarts smart, he is perceptive and intelligent in his own way; very skilled as well. Which Pokemon starter they’d be: Oshawott! Samurott looks as intimidating and stoic as Kanda, besides, it’s definitely based on a samurai, so they share this trait as well. Its first stages don’t look like much, but Samurott gets its own sword to fight with!
Krory
My otp for them: With Elliade! Now, this is one complex relationship. I admit I don’t like Elliade much but, at the same time, I understand her. For an Akuma, she really did love Krory; and he still loves her too. I just wish she hadn’t left him in the dark for so long. Her love was selfish and, while I understand how she felt, I feel bad for Krory since he thought he was a monster and that drove him to loneliness. I wish things could have been different, because their love was really pretty despite the downsides, their feelings for each other were very strong. My brotp for them: I want to say Marie! The latest Discussion Room (Vol.27) mentioned how good Krory is at many things, one of them being music. I love to think that he and Marie could have enjoyable long talks about their shared interest, they do look like the type of guys to appreciate music on a higher, more emotional level. Any other ships: I don’t have any, but I’ll make a mention to Miranda! While I don’t ship them personally, I totally see why people do. They’re both soft sweethearts who are always ready to do their best towards the people they care about - and they also share low self-esteem, sadly. The world has been very unfair with them 😢 Their best friend: Definitely Allen and Lavi! They were Krory’s first friends ever, and it’s clear how much he cares about them. My heart literally can’t take how they’re the first thoughts that cross Krory’s mind when he’s scared; it means that he feels accepted by them, they bring him comfort and make him feel safe and confident that everything will be alright. It’s just so sweet. My favorite nickname for them: Krorykins! If there’s one thing the English translation did right (and I can’t say that for like 80% of it), was translating “Kuro-chan” as “Krorykins”. It sounds so silly it’s cute 😅 My favorite AU headcanon of them: Just like I wrote about Miranda on her post, I headcanon he’s one of the people to either drop out of the Order to side with Allen, or actively help him in other ways. I think it’s not a mere coincidence Hoshino-sensei had specifically him, one of the people who cherish Allen the most, accompany Chaozii to go after him. I’m observing with great interest, as they might meet again sometime soon. It broke my heart to see him wanting to see Allen but, at the same time, wishing he had escaped safely. My favorite outfit they wear: There’s only one answer to this question, and it’s his casual clothes! He looks so elegant and fancy, so handsome yet so adorable! I mean, just look at him! Defining color: When I think of Krory, I think of deep red, a crimson shade like Carmine (#960019). I’m very sure it’s because of his Innocence. Would I date them: Maybe? I think I’d like befriending him more than dating him. He’s close to me in age though (unlike most of the characters I’ve written about so far XD) so I’d be down to it. Imagine dating a sweet guy who not only could cook you your favorite dishes but also has a more assertive, wilder side to him. Sounds like the complete package. First impression: Who is this? He looks scary but my intuition tells me there’s more than it meets the eye. Oh, he’s crying. He’s worried...? That’s too sweet, I’m betting he’s not a villain. Current impression: Well, he wasn’t a villain just like I had thought! Krory is an amazing but underrated character, he definitely deserves more love and appreciation. I love his personality, but what I love the most about him is how he had everything to be the “plain edgy, shady character” and then this notion was completely twisted around. I love it when things aren’t just about appearance. Hogwarts House: I see him being in Hufflepuff! The best people I know (namely, my best friend and spouse) are from this House and while they’re sweet and caring people, there’s also a lot to them more than it meets the eye, just like with Krory! Hufflepuffs are dedicated, loyal, and capable. Which Pokemon starter they’d be: Great question because when you think of him, you’d instantly think of a bat Pokémon, right? haha But I’d give him Sobble, I think! Poor shy crybaby that gets to go from water to wine upon evolving into its last stage, which is completely fabulous and badass! Drizzile even has the prominent bang falling on its face, while Inteleon has what could look like how Krory’s bang gets upward when his Innocence is activated 🤔

Bound to each other (prologue)
Tumblr media
genre: angst,  ennemies to ???
pairing: Kuroo x reader
WC: 1520
He soon realized you were both bound to meet.
When you first met Kozume, he was petting your cat and told you he was waiting for his friend. You were young, as young as him, so as most children would, you tried to engage in conversation and make him your friend.
After all, you had just moved in, and you thought it would be better for you to at least know someone. When you learnt that you went to the same school as he did, you felt nothing but relief: you wouldn't have to start the new school year all by yourself. When your mother called you back home, you worried about him, hoped his friend wouldn't take too long to show up.
On your way for the first day of middle school, you crossed Kozume's path. He was talking to someone, you guessed it was the friend he was waiting for during that day. You were not exactly shy, but you found it harder to go and greet him when he wasn't alone, so you kept walking towards the school's gate. Your gazes crossed, and he seemed to wait for you to come, but that didn't change your mind, deciding you could do that before classes started.
You had already settled your notebook when he showed up in front of your desk:
" You didn't greet me, was that because you were worried about Kuro?" he asked. Oh, so that was his name, you concluded. "I don't know him, and I didn't want to interrupt the both of you. But at least I guess he was on time today," you tried to joke, hoping not to make the situation more awkward than it already was. "I guess so, but if he was, I might have been able to introduce you to each other."
“Well, we could always do that during recess, right?”
Recess came quickly, and you followed Kozume. While when you first saw Kuroo this morning, laughing with your classmate, he seemed approachable, you were met with nothing but coldness. You did not read too much into this, and thought he just had a bad first impression since you did not greet him this morning. You couldn’t blame him, you might have reacted the same way if the roles were reversed. So you tried your best to change that, so that you could make him a friend; you knew he was close to Kozume, so you concluded that he couldn’t be a bad person. That, and also you didn’t want your friendship with Kozume to be clouded by a misunderstanding.
Months passed by, and it seemed like what was once coldness on his part had grown into hatred. You wanted to give up on him, and you had no choice but not to: he tended to come to Kozume’s house a lot since they both were Neighbors, and you tended to go to Kozume’s house to play videogames with him, so you were bound to cross each other’s paths at some point.
You had tried to find a reason why he was so cold with you. You really did, and for much longer than any middle schooler would. At first you thought it was because you were introverted and he was more extroverted, but you realized that it would not make sense, because Kozume was also introverted, and they were both best friends. You thought it was because you knew nothing about volleyball, that would have probably been nothing but a petty excuse, but you decided to give it a try. You watched a few matches to understand the rules before you asked him to teach you how to play volleyball, which you grew to like, but when you did, he looked at you with utter disdain. So didn’t seek to pursue it. And as you did, you decided all your efforts weren’t worth it, and that one day, he might mature and tell you what you did wrong.
Having to meet him with Kozume was a thing, because he would always tell him to cool down if he ever got too mean with you, but having to meet him at your family house was another. You had moved here because your parents had more business associates in Japan, and especially in Tokyo, so it would be more convenient for them to be close. Little did you know that one of those associates was Kuroo’s father. It really seemed like fate kept pulling you together.
You thought he would at least try to make it seem like he had nothing against you in front of your parents, but he did not. You were thankful he had at least the decency not to snap some remarks at you. You noticed something that night. While both of your parents were there, it was only him and his father. That was a part of his life you did not know about, but then again, he would have had no reason to tell you about it. You wondered if Kozume knew. Probably. That must have been the reason why he was so often at Kozume’s place. You decided it would be wiser not to ask him. You ignored each other for most of the dinner, and you prayed that it would be a one-time thing. Despair spread across your face as you heard your parents, “it was nice having you here, next friday at your place it is?” It would not be a one-time thing.
The next Monday at school, you decided not to mention it, neither to Kozume nor Kuroo. You had just been accepted into the school’s basketball club, and you did not want your mood to be spoiled by a grudge some upperclassman held to you for apparently no reason. You decided to eat with the other club members; it would allow you to get out of your comfort zone -to be honest, you already had Kozume, and you were so preoccupied to fix the Kuroo situation, as you so called it, that you never made new real friends. You sent Kozume a text beforehand so that it wouldn’t wait for you.
Having new friends did not change anything between you and Kozume, you still ate with him every second day and spent most of your recesses with him, but it allowed you to take a break from Kuroo’s incessant remarks.
You had kept this routine until Kuroo entered high school, when you went back to eating with Kozume every day. This year announced itself to be great: you had become the captain of the basketball club, you had great grades, and you wouldn’t have to deal with Kuroo everyday. You were not stupid, you expected that Kuroo graduating meant that he would spent more time at Kozume’s house to catch up, but you were still disappointed when that happened
You now only saw him when you were both at Kozume’s place, and thankfully, the dinner with his father that was once a weekly thing had become a monthly thing. Yet, this new life was bittersweet. He probably wanted to make up for the time where he couldn’t annoy you, because  you felt like it got ten times worse. He had never insulted you when he was still in middle school. You were both waiting for Kozume when he did for the first time. You wondered if it was because of new friends he made, but a part of you knew he wasn’t the type to hang around bullies -even if in some ways, he had turned himself into one. That was the turning point into your relationship, you had never asked Kozume about it, because you didn’t want him to be uncomfortable by talking about his other friend.
“Say Kozume, do you remember our first day of middle school?”
“As much as I can,” Kozume answered, eyes riveted on his console.
“You remember how I didn’t greet you when I arrived ? Is that the only reason Kuroo hates me so much?” You knew you must have sounded dumb, maybe even desperate, but at this point you would do anything to fix the Kuroo situation.
“I know Kuro can be petty, but I don’t think he can be that petty, especially about something that happened when you were eleven,” he looked at you when he said that, and you knew that even if he didn’t show it, he wished for this old feud to stop.
“So you’re telling me he never told you?”
“I’d rather not talk about you when I’m with him, for obvious reasons.”
You knew that was the truth, that Kozume wasn’t the most confrontational person, and that even if he was, Kuroo would have probably told him off.
Soon enough, it was your turn to start high school. You were not in the same class as Kozume anymore, he was in 1-3 while you were in 1-6. You had joined the basketball club, and since its schedule didn’t clash with the volleyball club’s, Kozume asked you to be their manager. You still remember a few things about volleyball, and even if it was not much, you came to the conclusion that it would be enough to learn more on the fly. What you didn’t remember was that the reason why Kozume played volley was also the reason why you never pursued it.
A/N: Hiiii: I hope you appreciated this chapter, i really liked writing it, even if it’s my first time writing FF lol. If you see any mistake please lmk! Also, this chapter was kinda written in (y/n)’s POV, but next one will be written in Kuroo’s POV. I’ll try to publish it tomorrow, no promises though :C.
