“we, huh?” ficlet
i have another ficlet that i whipped up and made me jsksndjesj. i hope u guys enjoy it, i’m a little rusty so proceed with caution
Ian lays facing away from the door, comforter billowed around his bare chest, draped lazily across his arm. His head is buzzing, his thoughts shooting around a mile-a-minute yet he can’t seem to actually process a single one. He shuts his eyes tight, trying desperately to breathe through it. He’s been off for a few weeks now, under the false assumption that he narrowly escaped Mickey’s concern until he drops a small “you got an appointment tomorrow to get your meds fixed.” Initially, a rage filled him, sending a rush through his entire body and resulting in some snippy comment about how he can handle his own shit. Mickey didn’t react, just walked to where Ian sat, placed a quick peck on the top of his head and walked out of the room. After several hours of misery in company with his own thoughts, the anger was eventually replaced with a lingering guilty. It was a guilt he felt slightly too proud to admit, resulting in their conversations being limited for the rest of the day.
Mickey shuffles in, plopping down next to Ian in bed.
“Ay,” he finally settles, “i shouldnt’ve gone behind your back,” he fidgets, his head shifting down before Ian cuts him off.
Ian shuts his eyes, breathing through the initial anger that rose, landing on the understanding that it was all in his best interest. “It’s okay,” Ian turns to face him, head resting against his forearm, the former jumbled mess that was his mind now completely clear as his eyes catch sight of the gentle blue ones that stare back at him.
Mickey mirrors him, his head resting on his forearm as his hair sits in a messy black tuft against the pillow. “It’s gonna be alright, just gonna take a look at ya and make sure we get everything figured out.” His hands move to lightly trace Ian’s shoulder, going over every freckle and scar with a delicacy that only Ian knew.
Ian stares back for a moment, eyes fixated on the flutter of Mickey’s lashes as he spoke. Fuck, he loved this man.
“We, huh?” Ian scoots closer, the corners of his lips turn up slightly at the light red that flushes Mickey’s cheeks.
Mickey brushes it off, shifting onto his back mumbling a quick, “It’s you and me, Red.”
Ian smiles to himself, gaze fixed on the sight of his husband’s porcelain skin painted in a light dusting of freckles and a few scars that Ian traces delicately with his fingers, followed by a gentle peck. The curve of his nose, his lips, his lashes. He is nothing short of mesmerized.
“You must love me a whole lot then, huh ya softie?” Ian teases
Mickey lifts his arm behind his head and shutting his eyes, “like it’s breathing, Gallagher,” he huffs casually. He nods his head, gesturing for Ian to come closer.
Ian’s heart beats out of his chest threatening to land promptly before him on the bed as he stifles a small laugh. He’s never short of amused and enthralled by his husband’s ability to say the most romantic things in the most nonchalant nature. Mickey knows it makes Ian bashful and giddy like a teenage girl so of course he slips one in whenever he can.
He feels Ian’s eyes burning a hole in him, “And I don’t wanna hear shit about it, we all know you’re the soft one,” he cuts his eyes over, “now would you get your ass over here i’m fuckin’ exhausted.”
Ian happily complies, shifting to lay his head against Mickey’s chest. His large, freckles hand reaches to grab Mickey’s, nearly completely engulfing it as he rubs small, soothing circles with his thumb while his other hand mimicks on his stomach. Mickey digs his face deep into the tuft of curls, inhaling slightly and placing a small kiss on his head as both drift slowly to sleep.

It’s so insane to me that people think queerness is not integral to the plot of Stranger Things. A huge part of season 1 is demonstrating how disgusting homophobia is. Three of the antagonists in season 1 are antagonists because they are homophobic. Lonnie, Troy, and Steve (yes Steve) all made homophobic comments. We are meant to dislike them because of that.
Will is the MAIN character. The entire show was built around saving him. The main character of Stranger Things is gay. His disappearance sparked homophobia throughout Hawkins. Stranger Things has always been about being different which includes being gay. To think otherwise is missing the point entirely.
So no, it’s not ridiculous to believe that the main couple of the show would be gay. But it is ridiculous to believe that they would emphasize the dangers of homophobia just to leave the main gay character traumatized and alone.
What makes Stranger Things so great is the meaning behind it. They want to give a voice to those that are different. The message of the show would not allow for a gay character to get a bad ending.

I need EVERYONE to shut up and start TALKING ABOUT THE BOAR SCENE. Book one. Ruins of Gorlan. The first time Will is in real danger, the first time we see WHY he was chosen as a rangers apprentice. The first time that Halt, stern-faced, greybearded, Mr “I hate everything except for coffee and my horse”, Mr “why do apprentices ask so many questions”, shows that he sees Will as more than just an annoying 15 year old. The first time that we get proof that Halt and Will’s relationship is more than mentor & apprentice, that it’s father & son. Will puts himself in the line of danger to save a boy who’s been bullying him for his whole life, and instead of crying out for help and breaking under the pressure of being about to die, he keeps fighting and accepts it. And Halt saves him and Will can’t help the tears of relief that come over him, he can’t help but bury his face in halts cloak. Halt literally jumps off Abelard and hugs him and holds him tight and doesn’t let go. It’s the first time Halt remembers that Will is always going to be in danger. And how Will reacts to Halt saving him shows that even though Halt hasn’t shown any kind emotion to him at all, Will considers him a safe place, a safe person. I hate them and this series they make me sick and it’s awful and it’s all I can ever think about

My favourite detail in OOTP is when Harry finds Sirius at the dining hall Crookshanks is curled up in his lap. Like he’s surrounded by people screaming at him about “Dumbledore’s instructions”, not allowed to go outside cause the ministry and Death Eaters are gunning for him, he’s being called irresponsible and reckless and he’s brushing it all aside cause boy does he know how to deal with people screaming at him in this house, any regardless: he’s still got Crookshanks. He’s got Buckbeak and they remain Sirius’ first and last line of defence
Harry felt something brush against his knees and started, but it was only Crookshanks, Hermione’s bandy-legged ginger cat, who wound himself once around Harry’s legs, purring, then jumped onto Sirius’s lap and curled up. Sirius scratched him absentmindedly behind the ears as he turned, still grim-faced, to Harry.
Harry did not mention his vague suspicions to Sirius, whose cheerfulness was evaporating fast now that Christmas was over. As the date of their departure back to Hogwarts drew nearer, he became more and more prone to what Mrs. Weasley called “fits of the sullens,” in which he would become taciturn and grumpy, often withdrawing to Buckbeak’s room for hours at a time. His gloom seeped through the house, oozing under doorways like some noxious gas, so that all of them became infected by it.

The existence of Siegfeld jhs as specifically future stage girls is one of its most fascinating themes.
The central conflict that they all must overcome is finding the determination to become stage girls.
They have all in one way or another already failed. What awaits them now is to exit the stage, unless they can find the resolution to decide to keep standing on stage.
As future stage girls they face extinction, they lack brilliance, and are weighed heavy by their failures. However stage girls can always improve and be reborn. If they can make that step, find that courage, they can continue to stand on stage and can overcome it all.
Throughout all of Regalia we see their failures and struggles made apparent. Akira antagonizes and goads them. It is clearly spelled out that their life on the stage is going to end.
They lose in Revue Siegfeld. But ultimately by then it didn’t matter. Because all of them simply decided that they were willing to stand on stage. From there, a stage girl can do anything.
Elle’s farewell message makes it clear, “A revue is not once-in-a-lifetime. As long as you don’t give up, you will have as many chances as you want.”
Regalia is fascinating because it is a story focused on becoming stage girls rather than being stage girls. Especially because through the somewhat outside lens the many harmful aspects of performance and pressure are made abundantly clear as they are forced onto characters who are the youngest in the entire series.
Regalia does not pull punches. But ultimately the message is that those pressures can’t actually stop you. They are real, and harmful (as revue starlight shows extensively), but as long as you can accept that being a stage girl will mean facing them, and still choose to stand on stage that’s enough.
The only death to fear is before you are reborn. Simply resolving to be a stage girl is enough.

the amount of brainrot i’m capable of developing for characters w barely any screen time is so embarrassing.
yes i’m obsessed with this character. yes i’ve been analyzing their entire character and motivations.
yes i’ve been rewatching every time they show up over and over again.
yea i’ve spent a wildly inordinate amount of time thinking of and drawing them.
yes i am doing all of this based off a handful of lines of dialogue mostly comprised of bits.
yes this characters name was only revealed the third time they showed up.
and yes, this character has shown up a grand total of like three times.
