can I say something?
something I've started to not quite dislike, but not appreciate much about pjo was the way rick riordan talked about and characterized some gods- like Ares (still understand why he did that tho).
personally, as a kid who grew up reading myth after myth, I've always loved Ares, and when I re-read after years the pjo books some months ago I noticed how some of the gods are kind of lazy-written, or simply treated badly- as characters ofc.
one of them is Ares.
Ares is kind of impossible to appreciate in the books.
the only good moment he has is the "that's my girl" with Clarisse (but it still happened after years of neglect so yeah, not so great at the end), and then it's all bad, and he kind of gets ignored in favour of other gods- like Poseidon, who does mistakes but still can be appreciated, and is someone we could even relate too. Hades, Persephone, Hermes, Apollo and Artemis, they were we can say well-rounded second characters.
Demetra, Dionysus (except for the "protect my son" bit in the fifth book loved him for that and in general him with pollux and castor) but especially Aphrodite and Ares are just there so symbolize something Percy and us readers dislike.
(this is about Ares, but I could talk ab Aphrodite for hours (another day bud))
Ares is fucking cool.
he's the god of war, so unlike some of his other relatives his domain can never get weak, because humans are always fighting, there's always a war somewhere- but the way rick wrote him kind of erased the part where people prayed to him in order to not only beat someone and win a conflict, but also to survive one.
who attacked first prayed for Ares to help them, who was attacked and fought back prayed for Ares to make them survive and exit the conflict as winners, because there are always two sides in a war, and Ares represents them both.
but I can understand why rick ignored this part of him and reduced him to an extremely strong god who loves conflicts- and why, as a 11ys kid I didn't really got that. I was just sad that my fav god wasn't a cool guy. now I'm older, and I notice that, but still I don't blame him for writing Ares like that.
it's a kids book, and I can't pretend from it to be the greatest thing ever written, and I can appreciate these books with ease.
(and yk, war may be natural, but it doesn't mean it's right, so it's normal that a kids book characterised the god of war as someone despicable.
every god is despicable (as it should be, not so strange from the god of death to steal from earth someone young and all springy and trap them in his realm, it's kind of how life works!!!), but it's hard to explain kids how sexual assault and murder were their breakfasts and lunches, while war=wrong is easy and right! so)
but the show changed that?
it's changing a lot of things, but first of all it's dealing with things about greek gods that were ignored or set to the side in the books- the way it so heavily say, again and again, how the life they expected demigods to live was wrong.
but, honestly, I simply loved Ares.
not only for the twitter fights, but for his talk with grover mainly.
and even though grover said those things in order to manipulate him into telling him what he wanted to know- it was more than nice to see how they fixed and perfected an almost ignored character (in the books a strong, too prideful and not-at-all wise god).

Heaven is a place in hell with you.
Member: San as Hades x Reader Persephone
Plot: It's not the typical myth although it does share some similarities I've made some changes too to fit what I had in mind.
Genre: Angst, Fluff and eventual smut (not in this chapter)
Endless darkness. That's all his eyes have been seeing for the eternity of time. If only someone could imagine the depth of time combined with the depth of the darkness, they'd lose their sanity. Being a God grants you great power but being the God of the dead might not be seen as attractive as other God's kingdoms. Poseidon, ruling the vast sea or Zeus, ruling the mortal world. But death is the most powerful of all, Hades thinks, for it holds the power to diminish everything else. Whether someone was rich, privileged or one of a kind, after their passing, they are just part of the soul parade, a group of shadows with no purpose, just lurking around till the dawn of time. Maybe even after that. Hades has a bit of a reputation if you will, hated by most, if not all the living. The God's aren't fond of him either. He is too monotonous for their liking, keeps mostly to himself, he is on his own, just like what he rules, a lonely experience by default. His body is as immortal as it can be, a vast contrast between his surroundings. He stood tall and proud, well shaped and proportionate. His face chiseled and enigmatic, his prominent bone structure and intense gaze making him intimidating in a striking way. Appearance wise he looked no older than 25, but his soul felt awfully old. Maybe others were right to despise him. He can't stand himself either at times. A gloomy haze was his life, that seemed to have no end.
"A girl is playing around the lake, Lord" Thanatos, his trusted winged friend mentioned.
"She comes here often. She doesn't look human, but not godly either. More like a mixture of them too, not ordinary enough for a mortal, not divine enough for a goddess".
Hades decided to take a closer look after Thanatos' description. He is someone that likes to keep his thoughts and opinions independent, but he couldn't agree more. Her beauty was like something he'd witness before and something entirely different, all at the same time. She appeared delicate and gentle, her hands brushing through the bush, as the wind blew against her face. She seemed beautiful, but in a very different way than Aphrodite is. He didn't feel an ounce of lust for her, her vibes innocent and pure, almost angelic. The type of person you want to protect with your life, if he even had such a thing.
"Maybe she is a nymph? But she is someone I've never seen before and I keep up with them to say the least" Thanatos laughed, confirming his womanizer nature.
Hades laughed as well. His friend had a charm that drew others to him. Maybe they liked getting a taste of death while still alive, literally.
"That's true, you'd know her by now. I'm sure Artemis despise you, my friend. You are ruining chaste virgins left and right."
"Well what can I say? I'm popular with the ladies. I guess they might have a thing for my wings? I mean there aren't that many of us, even in the immortal world. But speaking of getting down and dirty, you haven't been laid in such a long time, Hades!"
The latter's eyes grew at the realization. He had some needs but they never bothered him to that extent. Keeping busy did the trick so far and he was more of an old fashioned man to say the least. His mistress was the night but he grew sick of her. They were too similar, he thought. He wanted some light to enter his world, a blinding brightness to shake him up and warm his icy heart. Or at least that was his persona, his mask. He knew, better than anyone, how much he felt and loved and longed for it. But he could wait for that, he had time, that's for sure.
"Mind your business boy" he said in a teasing tone but failed at intimidating his friend. Hades looked dark, dangerous even, until he became familiar to you. Once you made a place for yourself in his heart, he couldn't be further from that.
"Okay okay, I was just saying that it's a pity for you to go like that. But whatever makes you happy." He answered and raised both of his arms in a defeating manner. Thanatos knew that he was basically a brother to Hades, but he still wanted to keep their relations good, because he had the tendency to say more than he should.
"It's all good, I'm just teasing you!" Hades smiled his way and showed his dimples, the sweetest sight his kingdom had to offer.
Thanatos smiled back and took a look at the lake again, which they were able to see from the inside, as it was the main portal for the underworld. His smile quickly turned sour, and worry played over his handsome features.
"What is it?" Hades asked.
"The girl...seems to be in danger". Thanatos pointed out and Hades took a closer look. A wolf was some meters away from her, moving eerily elegantly for such a creature. Given the area the lake was, it seemed unlikely for an actual wolf to be there. It's size was extraordinary large too, all this made him believe it was one of Zeus' tricks again. A sudden surge of protective energy took over him and he wanted to save this poor girl from Zeus. She didn't deserve Hera's wrath either. None of them did. Hades took a hold of his scepter and pushed it on the ground. The lake started waving and it turned dark as if it was raining during a perfectly sunny day. The girl gasped at the sight in front of her and took a step back since she was almost right next to the lake by now. The waters were divided and a set of stairs showed up. When Zeus realized that the girl was about to escape, he started running towards her and she felt such an overwhelming fear that made her run without even realizing that this was probably a bad idea. She followed the stairs which turned to water again after each of her steps. As soon as she touched the ground, she broke down in tears and hid her face inside her hands, too scared to open them and face her destiny. But sometimes our destiny isn't as scary as we think it is, because there, in this dark and seemingly unwelcome world, she'd find a man with no soul, but more capacity to love than anyone else with a soul ever could.

rating record of ragnarok characters /10, because i can.
DISCLAIMER: i’m only rating the characters based off what the manga & anime has portrayed. i’ve done little to no research on these people themselves, which is why i don’t condone anything immoral that they’ve done. this was written before the release of chapter 73+
a/n: i think i wanna do this for every anime + genshin & val. PLS WATCH IT & LMK IF YOU GUYS LIKE IT. also i dont care abt grammatical and/or punctual errors, this is a shit post
MANGA SPOILER WARNING!!
THOR: first of all, he’s so fucking hot. his smile caught me so off guard tho, i kinda just stood there watching the screen, baffled. not much character to him, he’s just hot. 7/10
LU BU: i’m chinese, i literally feel so happy when i see chinese characters. biased, but definitely a plus. he, just like thor, has little to no character. first character i called hot, is hot, but there are hotter characters. (what, i am not talking abt hermes wdym?) 7/10
HERMES: 10/10. no explanation. my man right there. i literally scream & cream every time i see him. why is he so fine. not a single panel or clip where he looks bad. pls eat me out, sir i beg. i will serve you. ONE CHANCE. JUST ONE?? i’m in love with him. who needs real men or women when hermes.
GOLL: she is SO ANNOYING. her eng & jp voice are both annoying asl. she’s that one character, that exists in mostly every anime, used to explain background info & battle info on other characters. brunhilde is too nice on her. she reminds me of when i first saw yachi (haikyuu) on screen. yachi, too, was annoying. but i grew to love her🫶. 1/10
BRUNHILDE: SHES SO HOT. ATE. SHE ALDNAHDISKZ. yeah, what else is there to say? 8/10
APHRODITE: she truly lives up to her version in the greek mythology. hottest woman/goddess alive. ate. her boobs, i want to squish them & bury my face in them. WHEN IS IT MY TURN TO HOLD THEM? 8/10
ZEUS: idgaf what anyone says, he’s not hot. not even his younger self. he looks like mirio (mha) turned netero (hxh). love his character tho. the eyes scared me at first. he’s hilarious. 5/10
ADAM: my friend, the one who recommended snv to me, told me he’d be more my type. he was, minus the fact that’s he literally butt fucking naked. nice ass cheeks tho. def pretty boy, his wife is hot too. i want her more😋. his line abt fighting for his children made me cry. should’ve won. i say, let hermes be uncleless & fatherless. 7/10
POSEIDON: he was fs the blueprint for adam. anywho, yk hes fine. SOOO FINE. meowing for him. he doesn’t beat hermes tho. nobody beats hermes. well, look wise at least. it was rlly hard choosing who to root for in this fight. that’s a lie, i was always on humanity’s side. sad he died:( 9/10. -1 for being a little, arrogant, narcissistic, egotistical bitch. 8/10
SASAKI KOJIRO: see, zeus coulda been hot like him at that old age. man aged like fine wine. character was a W. hot, determined, good character, funny. what else can you want from a man? 8/10
HERACLES: disappointed. so disappointed. he looked better in the disney ver. this fight was so boring for me. you’re telling me i’m supposed to watch the fight instead of ogling at hot characters? no. character was okay. 6/10
JACK THE RIPPER: massive L. not supporting a murderer. next. 0/10
SHIVA: hot from the beginning. 4 arms? do what you want to me, sir. 3 WIVES? tengen (kny), is that you bro?😭 anywho, he’s cocky, def my type irl LMAO. i wouldn’t let that slide tho.. his wives are hot too😋 8/10
RAIDEN TAMEEMON: i paid very little attention to this fight. don’t remember his backstory too well (i read this fight not even 24 hours ago btw). not that good looking, not ugly either. i liked his character, upset he took 3 of shiva’s arms. why 3? why not 2? he got 1 arm left. 4/10
BUDDHA: THATS MY GOD RIGHT THERE. ate. i’m not religious, and neither are my family, but they are buddhist, so by default, i am too. i personally think buddhism is the best religion, but we’re not gonna get into that. i have very valid reasons btw. love his personality, love his looks. massive W. ofc he fights for humanity. he’s a walking W. 9/10
ZEROFUKU: precious. definition of deserved better. what made me sad, is how he was written during the fight. he’s consistently hitting, with little to no strategy. his backstory is sad, but his battle exp was written poorly. also the random ass monster possessing took me tf out. 7/10
HADES: fine ass mf. he’s so different from how he’s usually portrayed, both look & personality wise. the first W netflix has pulled. he’s hot and responsible? persephone, we can share him babes. also, the relationship between him & poseidon made me SOB. like actually. hurt so bad i made an angst edit. 9/10
QIN SHI HUANG: first off, i don’t do research on my own ethnicity’s history. i didn’t even know who tf lu bu was. my family knew tho. with that aside, PROUD TO BE CHINESE❗️ he’s so fine. SO FINE. the way his character was written, was wonderful. i loved the fight between him & hades. the tension & the lengths they went to try & win. 9/10
BEELZEBUB: his backstory was so tragic. what i didn’t like, was how they rushed his & lilith’s story. like, they kinda randomly said i love you to each other. i’d love to see their adventures tgt. lilith, leave that emo thing, and come be w me. he’s fine too. i rlly like how they introduced him. 8/10
NIKOLA TESLA: i don’t have much of an opinion on him. very chatty, which i don’t actually mind. i guess we’ll have to wait for more chapters to release before i form an opinion on him. 5/10
ODIN: the hair bro. THE HAIR. i keep forgetting he exists, but i’m not his biggest fan. not bad, but i prefer his sons. i do like the theory of him being a traitor. he looks the part. 5/10
LOKI: honestly, i liked him a lot in the beginning, but now, it’s like he’s kinda on the side. cute & hot. thor is the better brother tho. speaking of, how tf are they even brothers? moving on, i like his personality. i like his shocked, mixed w angry, facial expressions more. 7/10
ARES: the hair again. very stylish, i do like it, but it took me out. walking around looking like a school girl. i don’t like how he tries to be a know-it-all w hermes, when he literally relies on him for info. but that’s my man for you. his expressions are SO WELL. 6/10
ADAMAS: i was awfully confused, at first, when there were 3 older brothers to zeus. usually, it’s just hades, poseidon & zeus. not his biggest fan, his character was rushed. 4/10
BONUSES
JESUS: i was very happy to see jesus. i’m not sure why, i just was. why is he the only character, THAT LOOKS LIKE THEMSELVES? 9/10
LU BU SIMP AGENCY: 10/10. i don’t need to say anymore. W cheng gong. love that man.
FORSETI: what a loser. he was so annoying. 2/10
EVE: mother? mommy? whatever. MEOW. 9/10

Laich Des Satans (very old oc's) LORE DUMP POST.
Just the basics, mostly. A guide to the characters and stuff. Very messy garbage that I just word vomited onto a google doc.
It is a very long post!! I talk about like 9+ characters!!!
Here we go
So Gia and Rosie were the first ocs, made when my cousin and I were ~7-8
Gia is the daughter of Satan and an unknown earth (rock) goddess, and has pyrokinesis, geokinesis, and geothermal kinesis. And also wind powers (because reasons??) She has a pet shape-shifting fire spirit named Setfire.
Rosie is the daughter of Mother Nature and Poseidon. She has the ability to talk to plants and animals, control plant growth, and aquakinesis. She has a catlike nature spirit named Leaflit.
Satan and Mother Nature are enemies, and have tried to destroy each other many times to no avail. So Satan sent Gia, his favorite child, to infiltrate Mother Nature’s ranks by pretending to befriend Rosie, and then destroy her. Unfortunately, Gia began to bond with Rosie, and not only became true friends, but developed romantic feelings for her. (Note: This development happened after the characters were separated from me and my cousin and became their own people. I never had a crush on my cousin 💀)
They’ve gone on many many adventures over the years (as my cousin and I played in the backyard) But none come to mind specifically.
Gia and Rosie have gone through a ton of design changes over the years, the only consistencies being that Gia’s hair was made of fire and that Rosie’s hair was green. Other than that a lot has changed. I can’t find any of the original designs from when I was a kid but they were super different. I think Gia’s dress was made of fire too at one point?
In 2020, I made the next character, Lucille, or Luci. She was Gia’s younger sister, and was the daughter of Satan and the Norse goddess of death. Luci also had pyrokinesis, but I don’t think she had much more than that. But she was very creative with that power.
I think the next character was Maggie, she’s the youngest sibling of the 8 of them, being 50 years old, or about 5ish developmentally. She looks up to Luci a lot, copying her and always hanging around her. I don’t remember what Maggie’s abilities were. She may have been too young to have any. Her mother was also the norse goddess of death, which is another reason she was so close to Luci. Many of the siblings do not share the same mother.
I don’t know which ocs were created in which order after this point, but they were all very fleshed out and had a lot of detail and hard work put into their designs, personalities, and stories. Unfortunately, most of them were never written or never completed.
Xena, full name Xenabelle, is the oldest sibling, and is the daughter of Satan and Aphrodite. Her original character was essentially a siren/succubus type character. She was super slutty and went to the human world to kill and eat men. But eventually she started a new diet and couldn’t eat them anymore, so she brought them to the demon world for. Reasons I guess? At one point she was changed to have psychic abilities, and would specifically target rapists and other offenders and would kill them. Decent men she would just have a good time with and then go. Xena is the only one other than Gia to have left home.
Wrex is the second oldest, and is probably the main caretaker of his siblings. His mother is Athena, Greek Goddess of wisdom and war. He’s ~19 age-wise, and provides a lot for the family. Of course, they’re rich and live in a mansion, it’s not like they can’t afford food or anything, but he hunts and cooks/grills for the family. He also settles disputes and makes sure to connect with each of his siblings. He’s an excellent hunter and fighter, with proficiency in using various swords and bows. He is very outdoorsy, and in his story, he meets a mythical creature called a spiderwolf named Tom.
Spiderwolves are very venomous and one of the most dangerous animals in the forest. But Tom was attacked by another group of creatures, called fiaras, and was horribly disfigured and left to die. But a fairy (or something idk) came and was able to heal him partially. Leaving him scarred and disabled, but still able to live a happy and healthy life. Tom was also left with having telepathy, and can speak to other creatures via thoughts. He met Wrex while he was on his quest, and Tom joined him for the remainder of his journey.
Tempus is the third child, and is very immature. She’s a cruel prankster and often causes harm to others for her own enjoyment. Her mother is the Roman trickster goddess. Tempus is monkey themed, and has a prehensile monkey tail. She’s also the only sibling with round ears. Tempus has the power to turn invisible and phase through objects, making her very sneaky and good at hiding for pranks and setup. She also loves blackmail and will force people to assist her for her plans. Tempus also travels to the human world frequently to bully and harrass humans when her dad has had enough of her causing trouble in the house. She has a secret treehouse (hollowed out trunk type treehouse) that she hides out in. It has a beanbag and an original NES, as well as some other stuff.
Pluviam is the sibling after Gia. He is the only one to have two dads, being the son of Satan and Dionysus. He is the best cook of the family, even better than Wrex (who mostly grills meat) and will cook and cater for large family gatherings or times when all of the siblings are together. He is the nicest of the siblings aside from Maggie (who is a child) and Gia (who is redeemed.) He looks up to Gia, as she was able to escape the demon world and Satan’s control, and has found love and friendship in her life outside. He hopes to someday be able to visit the human world and live a life of peace. His admiration for Gia means Luci hates him slightly more than she hates the other siblings. His story was about him sneaking to the human world, falling in love with a nature activist girl, and helping save a forest from destruction.
El, short for Ellaina, is the 6th child. She is a very quiet and soft-spoken girl, who mostly stays in with her pet tortoise. She used to have other pets, but they never lived long enough to be substantial. Tyler the tortoise has been around for about 50 years, and she is quite happy with that. El’s mother is also Athena. While Wrex shows off the war and strategy side, she’s mostly the wisdom side. El is knowledgable on many things, and even though she’s one of the younger siblings, people often come to her for advice. Her story was never fleshed out much, I think she was supposed to find the forgotten twins, two extra siblings that I will get to later.
So, to Recap, there are eight siblings. In order from Oldest to Youngest, it’s Xena, Wrex, Tempus, Gia, Pluviam, El, Luci, and Maggie. They all share the same father, Satan.
I have written many short stories, one shots, and half-written novels about these characters, and there’s a lot of extra lore that I haven’t mentioned here. There’s a lot of garbled nonsense from several years of these characters. If anybody is interested, I can share the google doc links to the few things I still have lying around. Warning though, most of these will be from when I was 14 and younger. So they are BAD.

Yes, this is the third one I've sent! <3 I was wondering what your thoughts on an Aphrodite kid dating an Ares/Hephaestus kid is, since there's all the drama surrounding those three. Also, what is the best pairing between demigods, parent wise? Like Athena/Poseidon worked (*cough* Percabeth *cough*), Hermes/Demeter (*cough* Tratie *cough*) but what would good Aphrodite pairings be? I'm asking this to you, Clovis, on behalf of all my avid viewers and mayyyyyyyyyybe even myself as well <3

So in terms of the drama, usually it’s chill unless there’s an Aphrodite kid trying to date an Ares kid which usually stats beef with Hephaestus cabin members. Aphrodite and Hephaestus kids dating usually ends in breakup (mostly Aphrodite telling her child to stop dating them (it’s happened before) though sometimes it’s a very healthy relationship despite their parents being upset.
Personally any pairing would work in terms of demigod kids but the best I’ve seen so far is probably Hermes kids and Ares kids.
In terms of the best Aphrodite pairing I’ve seen is probably Aphrodite/Ares kids not gonna lie with you.

Greta Van Fleet as…
Greek Gods!!
Josh:
Josh is so Apollo coded like it’s not even funny. He’s amazing at singing, he can play his little tambourine, he writes a lot of the lyrics for the songs Greta makes, and he’s also amazing at drumming! He is quite literally like a ball of sunshine and he’s so talented (as are the other three). You honestly cant help yourself when you see and hear Josh’s smile and laugh. Its a very intoxicating thing and he just brings joy to you. He himself is joy. He’s the sun. His voice is so soothing and beautiful as well! He’s just an amazing and talented soul in general!
Jake:
Jake being Dionysus is honestly so fitting for him. He seems to be the kind of person to prefer wine over any other alcoholic drink. Dionysus was sometimes depicted to be a long haired, feminine youth and Jake seems to fit that position pretty well in my opinion. Dionysus was also said to be a very loud and raucous and although Jake doesn’t really fit that personality wise, he plays guitar and the guitar (specifically electric) is known to be a pretty loud instrument. Also can we not forget Oliver Fuckin’ Reed?? He is so Dionysus coded.
Sammy:
Sam reminds me of Hermes for a couple reasons. First off, Hermes was known to be a cunning and trickster god who was also a thief. And all though Sam isn’t a thief, he’s very much cunning and a trickster. Sam’s super outgoing and his personality is so silly that you cant tell me he doesn’t play pranks on the other three boys almost daily. He has this young soul and aura to him that makes him seem super fun to be around. Another thing is that there’s this mythe about Hermes and Apollo (this olays into Josh being Apollo, yes) that shows how Hermes and Apollo were pretty close with one another.
Danny:
Danny being Eros is something a lot of fans can agree on. At first I was going to put Danny as Poseidon but than I saw that picture of him in the middle and knew that he was Eros. Danny is a beautiful person who just captures your focus onto him and makes your mind wander. He’s pure beauty. Eros was said to be the son of Aphrodite and being one of the most beautiful gods and honestly that fits Danny so, so well. Danny looks like he himself could be a god with how enticing he is. Not only are his looks beautiful but his personality is as well. He seems so sweet and loving and just an amazing person!

Hades: Of course you feel that way, Zeus. You have a lightning rod. However, I, personally have control of the dead and the entire underworld!
Athena: Boys, do not fight. Stay in your realm and just do your job.
Poseidon: I cannot be in the ocean right now, Athena. My children need me.
Hades: Persephone and I will talk to your son, we will guide him; he has an affinity to the darker, more complex things.
Athena: I know it is not always wise to trust Hades, but he has a point, Po. He and Persephone will deliver wisdom and wit to him; with my help.
Aphrodite: Po, your son is just like you! Well, of course, until he met the love of his life, which Hermes and I helped him to find.
Zeus: Aphrodite, that's not your brand! If you truly was one of those that helped him, he would be like Po forever.
Hecate: Zeus, that was not his destiny. Noah's destiny was to find the love of his life and be with her forever. While he may be drawn to the darkness, he is light.
Apollo: He's also a beautifully creative musician and writer.
Persephone: Noah can tell what we're saying, my intuition says.
Hecate: Of course he can, he's a witch and a wiseman.
Hermes: And the love of his life is a healing force who birthed him into a new person. I am, indeed, the love of his life's true father.
Zeus: Well, Noah can hear us or whatever, but can his wife, MaryAnn, hear us or anything?
Artemis: Noah will tell his wife everything we say! I am Noah's true mother and I know him.

Talking a little about Aphrodite, her domain, and her being "responsible" for someone's attraction/actions under attraction...
Greek myth-wise, you've got to realize that on the basic level she and Eros are considered "responsible" for every single moment of love/lust/attraction, etc, so many times Aphrodite will be brought up in relation to two people and their love as being "responsible" for it, as having created/instigated it.
But if you take this absolutely literally and at face value, that each 'Aphrodite brought them together/made him/her feel lust towards [other person]' and so on is literal, then absolutely no one, from Zeus and the other gods, the mortal women or goddesses they sleep with, down to mortal women and men, are responsible for and have no agency in their attractions, their lusts, their love, to and for anyone.
Hell, the Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite rather says this, even. Because Zeus' stated motivation for making Aphrodite fall in love with Anchises is to give her as good as he (and the other gods) have gotten from her. It's to put her in the same situation they have been put in (re:sleeping with mortals) so she can't boast about it.
And so...
are we then to say (would anyone of you want to say) that, for the myths where it's unquestionably sexual assault, is Zeus/Poseidon/etc then not responsible for their actions? Because, after all, Aphrodite is the one that made them.
I don't think so, right.
There's unquestionably incidents where Aphrodite is responsible; Eos, after her attempting to sleep with Ares, is cursed by Aphrodite (to be "perpetually in love" as the Bibliotheke phrases it). And Smyrna as well as Medea are two other ones. And in both the Catalogue of Women and Stesichorus, Aphrodite's anger at Tyndareos' failing to sacrifice to her is made the origin of nearly all (excepting Phylonoe) his daughters leaving their first husbands out of infidelity.
Still - what does that mean?
Both Smyrna and Medea are made to fall in love, but, neither of them are forced to do anything, when they're struck with that love. Just like Zeus and Poseidon and Apollo and so on aren't forced to do anything in terms of the women (or men) they're attracted to, in general. (You do have the idea present in Nonnus' Dionysiaca that a small number of Zeus' lovers were explicitly induced, and what does that mean for his agency? Then there's the Iliad's Book 14, and Hera borrowing Aphrodite's belt...).
So you definitely have some that are cursed to love, that is as undeniable as it's also hard to say where the line then is to be drawn about desire and love independent of Aphrodite's direct action in general.
But in the case of, say, Smyrna and Medea, maybe even Eos, while they have been induced to love, their actions that follow from that are their own.

When it comes to war on the other hand, that i can listen to. (From a book reader. Spoilers for episode 5 and the book ahead)
SPOILERS AHEAD
THE THRILL RIDE O LOVE. Was as cringy as I thought it would be, as it should be. Not sure why it depicted Hephaestus’ story except for it being a way to contextualize him. But as a cringey love themed ride? Nope, doesn’t make sense
Hephaestus showing up in person to Annabeth? I have mixed feelings about. I think it was a good moment theme wise to show that not all the gods are cut throat and backstabbing. But I wanted Annabeth to figure it out. Yes I liked her speech about not wanting to be like her mom. Yes it’s good character development. But it happens too quickly and too directly for my liking
I love that Percy’s water abilities are so chaotic right now and he directly says “yeah I’m figuring it out as I go”. Yes, seaweed brain, you have no idea what the fuck you’re doing and it’s amazing. You’re doing great sweetie
SEAWEED BRAIN. THE FIRST APPEARANCE. interesting that it’s in the context of her being vulnerable with him. The first instance in the book (if I remember correctly) was her legitimately picking on him, and then it later turned into bashful and loving name calling
The slow burn was burning this episode. So much growth. THE HUG AT THE ST LOUIS ARCH
omg Smelly Gabe’s tv appearance, his concern over the camero, framing Percy as a troubled kid who hurt his mom = fabulous, 10000/10. I want the scene of Percy taking to the news like “I know by dad wants to give away free appliances… cuz he just cares so much.” *fake cries*
Grover’s convo with Ares. Iconic. I like this. This Grover is much more confident than book Grover is at this stage. Boom one Grover was shaking in his custom insert sole flying shoes. Tv Grover is calculating and prying for info from the God of fucking war and twitter battles (loved that aside)
I do not necessarily like the changes to the Waterland / thrill ride o love. I may change my mind once I see non-book readers POVs and everyone’s analysis. But right now I don’t see it
I don’t like that Grover “found out” who the lightning thief is this early. Granted we don’t know if his guess is correct. But. Also. How did he jump to the conclusion that Ares had already caught the thief? What am I missing?
Okay also WHAT I LOVED ABOUT THAT CONVO is how Grover played into Ares’ hubris. And how it foreshadows Percy v Ares. The no death quick surrender wars he mentioned. Foreshadow to Ares backing down in his fight vs Percy on the beach
Okay but I do love Annabeth saying “I’m not leaving the underworld without your mom.” And how concerned she is
GIRL IS FALLING HEAD OVER HEELS IT IS ALL OVER HER FACE. The hug at the archway. The refusal to let him sacrifice himself AGAIN without protest. Makes me wonder how their relationship with develop in the show
The zoo truck yesss I am glad it’s still there
Zoo truck going to Lotus casino is an acceptable streamlined change
Hermes being at the casino? Uh, why?
They’ve met so many gods now. Dionysus. Ares. Hephaestus. Plus they’re going to meet Hermes and Hades and Poseidon. That’s half the main pantheon. So quickly?? And so much direct engagement with their quest?? In the books, I know they meet Aphrodite. But they don’t meet Hephaestus until much later.
So many thoughts so little time. Part 2, maybe?

EoA characters as Greek gods
Elena: I feel like Elena could follow Athena, I mean she is pretty wise for an almost 20 year old but she also possesses a vengeful side. And Athena was the guide for so many heroes just as Elena guides her people through their problems.
Mateo: There is no god of magic but there is a goddess, Hecate so that would be perfect for Mateo. He could also fit Athena again for the wisdom and love of learning.
Gabe: I was going to say Ares for Gabe because of battles and all but that is the more bloodthirsty side of war. Once again Athena could fit since she's the goddess of the strategic side of war and battle planning which Gabe is an expert in.
Isabel: Isabel is totally Athena. Goddess of wisdom and invention, there's no one else that would fit her. Let's face it, the Flores are an Athena like family.
Naomi: While I was originally going to go for Amphitrite for Naomi because goddess of the sea and all, she doesn’t have much of a personality. But Artemis does and I feel that would fit Naomi being a feisty traveller of unknown lands but also loyal and protective and can be prone to blow ups.
Esteban: It’s a tie between Poseidon and Apollo. Poseidon because Esteban loves sailing and can be moody and Esteban hides deep waters in his mind but I’m leaning more toward Apollo. Apollo was the god of the sun, and music and prophecy among other things which fit Esteban since he loves making music and heh ending up doing a self fulfilled prophecy of abandonment when he didn’t tell his family the truth(😫) but Apollo was one of the most human gods. He was vengeful, jealous, grudge holding, prideful as well extremely loyal to his family (particularly when someone killed his child or insulted his mother), caring toward his followers and had distinguished tastes.
Doña: I could see as Tyche, goddess of fortune. That interpretation was more like luck but it also includes money and prosperity. I can also see Hera, mainly because she would totally want to be the goddess of everything lol
Luisa: Luisa would totally be Demester, goddess of harvest since she is such an avid cook and also a mama bear.
Francisco: He could be Apollo since he is the god of music but I also picture Orpheus because of his amazing voice that could lure animals to dance around the woods like a disney princess.
Victor: Victor would be Hermes, the god of thieves, travellers and deception. He fits all those points. He even fits being the god of messengers since he tried and tried to tell Elena the message of Esteban's betrayal.
Ash: She would be Hecate, goddess of witchcraft, magic and ghosts for all the obvious reasons. Maybe even crossroads too because it was in the mountain path where she forced Carla and Esteban to make those fateful decisions on Carnaval.
Carla: Carla’s a bit of an anomaly since she could fit many things but maybe Hecate too. Or even Persephone, the poster child of teenage rebellion against parents.
Alonso: Would it be too obvious to say Narcissus? Okay, okay besides Narcissus, Alonso would be Dionysus, god of revelry and wine. The original party dude. Alonso is the party god with a leopard cape. Fight me.
Valentina: Val would make such a good Aphrodite. All the pink and being a grand beauty and all that. Not to mention going into rage when mortals dare to suggest someone else was prettier than her. Val wouldn't curse anyone but still. . . I imagine a similar not happy princess reaction.
Rafa: Demester, she is so Demeter simply because of her nurturing yet smothering mother idea.
