“She is going to be just fine, you know.”
“I know.”
By Jedi standards, Kavar was a man of action. It was a task to still his movements, to keep his arms crossed and feet set even as the urge to pace crept up on him. The tall Dantooine grasses didn’t help either, itching the back of his thighs even through his layers of robes.
Master Arekoh Ry made no attempt to hide the quirk of her lips, but she remained silent, allowing the sounds of rustling leaves and idle chatter from the other Jedi to swarm around them. The beads adorning her proud montrals swayed in the wind, reflecting the morning sun like a cluster of stars.
She had no reason to fret, and neither did he. Kirnet would be unharmed, that he was certain of. She had found a way to run into and stumble out of every bit of trouble she could find since she was brought to the temple. Only three months old, with wide eyes and puffed-out cheeks, and she had already laid claim to every corner and person within the enclave. Master Kavar, seemingly, most of all. It hadn’t taken her long to toddle after him with comical determination, and before he knew it every scraped knee and insult the youngling was responsible for was brought to his attention, as if he had any power over what came out of her mouth.
Force, it had been a blessing when tiny Atris was brought to the enclave. Somehow, the pair had gravitated towards each other, unbending Atris and her flittering companion. Kirnet’s behavior never improved, but at least now she felt mildly ashamed when Atris gave her a disappointed sigh.
No, Kavar knew Kirnet was perfectly safe. The kinrath had all been herded from the cave the Jedi currently stood at the maw of, and the tunnels had been carefully inspected for any other possible dangers.
Yet he still remained on edge. Kirnet had been all smiles leading up to today, practically bouncing off the walls as she followed him around the council chambers. “Mine will be blue,” she stated with such confidence that even he was almost inclined to believe her. “And it’ll be double-bladed.” She quickly averted her eyes when she finished, though Kavar saw they way they had lingered on the two sabers at his hip.
“She’s-” Arekoh’s wrinkled eyes snapped to him, and he knew that she had just been waiting for him to break the silence. “She can be emotional.”
The togruta shrugged. “And I’m sure that you also were when you were a youngling. That is what being a padawan is for.”
“Atris isn’t.”
“Atris doesn’t make friends nearly as easily. Or enemies,” Arekoh added with a light chuckle. “We all have our strengths. I will never lead a Republic battalion, just as you will never uncover the secrets of ancient history. The Force has plans for us all.”
“And what if that plan is to deny her a future with the Jedi?” A knot uncoiled in Kavar’s chest as he finally spoke the words aloud. Kirnet, with all of her charm and quick wit, was middling in the Force. She showed decent proficiency with the training sabers after Kavar guided her hand, and there was no youngling as nimble as her. But theory? Technical application with the Force? The ability to listen to any amount of wisdom? Kavar had done all he could to prepare her for this moment, but despite himself, he was worried.
Either she emerged from that cave with a kyber crystal, or she didn’t.
She would not be fine if she returned empty handed.
Arekoh smiled fully, seemingly pleased as she flashed her sharp canines. “Ah. Now we get to the heart of the issue.” She shook her heavy montrals. “Many of my padawans barely passed their trials. Many were the last to emerge from this very cave. But look at them now! All of them on their way to becoming fine Knights.”
Kavar pressed his lips into a thin line. Arekoh was a talented Master, he could never deny that, and her aptitude with padawans was proven time and time again. It is why she was trusted with four padawans at a time, all now excelling in their studies of the Force and history.
Kirnet pulled on a kath hound’s tail before Kavar could finish his lecture on their dangers. Kirnet had stolen his short saber and taken it apart as he slept because she was simply curious.
The breeze picked up, washing cool air over Kavar’s face. He closed his eyes, relaxed his tense shoulders, and pushed any bristling thoughts about Arekoh’s probing tone from his mind. “Yes,” he eventually answered. “I know.”
“You are still young.” Arekoh clicked her tongue. “And yet are already an accomplished Master and a member of the Council. Any padawan would be lucky to be under your tutelage.”
“I’m not taking a padawn.”
Arekoh’s brows shot up, but Kavar focused only on the sound of her beads clinking together. A blade of grass brushed infuriatingly light against the bottom of his robe. “I see.”
The conversation stilled as the first youngling returned from the cave, her silver hair streaming behind her as she held a crystal aloft. A round of encouragement rumbled from the assembled Jedi, and Atris walked briskly towards the group, chin raised with obvious pride. Kavar could see the way some of the Masters looked at her, many without any padawans of their own, all shining eyes and heartened smiles.
Another youngling emerged, and then another, until nearly the whole group was back, clutching their crystals close to their chest. Jedi mingled among them, patting backs and laughing, each of them making plans on who would become their own to train. Kavar remained rooted in place, as did his companion.
Minutes passed, maybe hours, as the sun soared overhead, catching the light of a hair clip as the last youngling emerged from the cave.
Kavar had been certain that they had cleared all of the kinrath before, but now he wasn’t so sure. Kirnet was caked in dirt, her long braid undone and tangled, fresh cuts all along the palms of her hands. But she beamed at him as she stumbled forward, something clutched tightly in her bloody fist.
Atris sprang forward, and the two girls giggled as they hugged. Immediately Kirnet’s crystal was out, and she ignored the way Atris wiped down her previously-pristine robes as she held the translucent object to her snowy hair. “See? We match!” The wind carried her excited voice to him as she pulled away.
Arekoh joined in the chorus of claps, a small smile tugging at her lips. She shot Kavar one last glance before stepping forward. Kirnet looked at her with wide eyes as the togruta leaned down. They glanced past her a few times, confused as they landed on him, but soon enough Arekoh’s shoulders were shaking with laughter as Kirnet recounted her adventure with wild movements.
Kavar kept his feet set, even as the urge to move crept up to him.

even though these things mom does are presented in an extravagant, kitsch, jokey way, her intentions always came from a place of sincerity. she is simply Funnie
but rose reads too far into it and assumes things that aren't there, that her mother is passive-aggressively feigning interest in rose's interests simply because the things she does are so extra. "why do all of this if not to mock me"
im telling you right now if dave lived in this household he wouldn't assume antagonism, he'd go,

dave's natural state is funny sincerity like roxy. he's had the natural capacity for this type of humor from the start and this is the direction he goes towards when he grows out of his brother's shadow by the end of the comic. dave and roxy share an earnest “so bad its good” type of humor

despite the alcoholism, roxy is a supportive mother. she's not the ideal guardian but hells of a lot more supportive of her kid than bro is. if she knew dave's interests she would totally indulge in them with some over the top silly goofy haha shit as a genuine gesture simply because she loves him
rose isn't too keen on it though. but she is more similar to dirk in her natural state of thinking of overthinking shit and assuming the worst, like the tags said
and yes dave got the sweet cuddly yet sometimes backhanded ouppy gene from roxy, probably even moreso lol

i dont think bro should ever be in custody of children ever but if theres anyone who would be up to the task it's rose probably. i know she'd be able to keep up with him. not only does she have a defined personality (dave is more malleable and absorbs his environment like a sponge), if anyone can pick apart B1 dirk's batshit brain and probably be right on the money it's her. lil cal has been pumping patriarchal nonsense into bro's head and rose would be able to bring the fucking facts to the table without losing her own and being a living example of a badass little girl. i also don't think bro would try to force masculine roles onto rose like he did with dave, seeing as she is a girl, so she would actually have more of a leg up and get some passes that dave was never afforded. and rose wouldn't stand idly and accept any bullshit; she is no doormat. and i think this would earn bro's respect

the sentiment "god you hope you can be as good as your bro at this some day" might have been genuine at the time when he idolized bro but of course he's not able to express that in any sort of sincere fashion because he's in dirk's fucking household. and this level 10 irony shit isnt doing dave any favors
his role models were the Internet and a vague idea of what Bro was like. rose is quick to read post-irony as actually being a joke/insincere, which in bro's case would be true. but i believe dave's natural instinct, outside of the influence of bro, is to read post-irony as genuine, which is exactly how mom serves it. we see this as early as act 3 from him; he understands her motives better than rose does herself:
and in act 6 intermission 2 i think it's pretty clear
but the thing is, it's always genuine from her. dave wouldn't have to second guess it because he's not one to naturally second guess someone's sincerity; that was learned due to his bro being virtually unassailable
there two types of ironies at play here:
seems like a joke, is actually genuine (roxy)
doesnt seem like a joke, is actually a joke (dirk)
you can make the argument that the second is is more psychologically destructive because it makes you question the reality of what is genuine sentiment and what isn't. dave never knew what was genuine and what was irony so he just sort of existed in this sincerity-ironic limbo and always did the opposite of what he genuinely felt on principle even if it always did originate from a genuine place.
"it just a joke bro i was just being ironic i dont actually x" is so much more trust-breaking and psychologically damaging than "wait are you being serious" / "i am being so fucking fr rn davy gravy" / "ok thats actually pretty fucking awesome. giant ass wizard statue" / "RIGHT"
how much about dave would change do you think? his character arc would be completely different for one thing, i think he'd have it good aside from mom's alcohol issues. he'd be left with the sweet and funny parts of him that we see at the end of the comic. the fake coolguy stuff is out, but this remains. this is dave in his element and we see it as early as act 1
he'd probably have no shades growing up in the lalonde residence* either cause those were given to him by bro straight out of the crater as an extension of his own cool image. and john gave dave ben stiller’s aviators for his 13th birthday to replace them so he could “spread his wings”
dave said he was wearing them for the ironies but i kind of doubt it. maybe post-irony but there was some reacharound to it being genuine because dave never put those pointy anime shades on his face again.
*though... it’s kind of hard to imagine him without his shades at all? B2 dave still got stiller’s shades from stiller himself so maybe getting them is a universal constant. i can imagine mom getting him them as a birthday gift cause shes pretty wealthy and probably could buy it out in an auction. but also itd be cool if john still gave him it as a gift
dave is actually a lot more genuine and easy to read than he lets on even when grappling with his upbringing with B1 dirk (again, see this post). this can be seen all throughout he comic but a good example is the evolution of thoughts about his interest in the preserved dead things in his room:
if B1 roxy was dave's guardian he probably WOULD have pursued paleontology because she wouldve indulged him in it and probably find it cool and worthwhile to pursue, instead of allowing dave to flounder under ironic detachment, being poisoned by irony to the point of gaslighting himself into believing he doesnt actually believe he thinks this shit is cool.
even if it was indulged in this such a way; a superficially kitsch and ironic appearing presentation, it comes from a genuine place and inspires genuine interest. just read the comments.
basically, i think if B1 roxy raised dave, their relationship would have a surface level appearance of being bizarre or over-the-top but they’d have an unsaid mutual understanding that it’s completely in earnest and just build on each other's funny and absurd gestures of affection. rather than seeing it as one-upping each other, it'd more like collaboration of some silly bullshit that you take a step back and look at full and just say, "fucking incredible"
speaking of paleontology, mom had the proto-ectobiology lab. maybe they'd be able to use the equipment to appearify paradox ghost imprints of the dead shit to create paradox clones of things from the cambrian era??? sounds like a fun mother son bonding activity. and theyd actually put the sciencey shit in the household to use
oh god i know exactly the kinds of music shed listen too also growing up as a teen in the 80s. she on that (post)-punk/art rock/new wave/new romantic mtv stuff. XTC shit fr. this is a B-52S HOUSEHOLD. maybe the associates for the campy melodramatic flair. so he gets to keep the record on his shirt cause he is an enjoyer of the shit in her vinyl collection. dave would still gravitate towards musical expression and music itself but of more variety outside of just rap, with an 80s-90s, even 70s flavor due to mom’s influence. see this for perhaps a glimpse. she probably visited new york city a lot for business trips and because the music scene was cool as hell around that time, imports came straight from jfk airport, she probably got in on that a bit and have remnants in the form of vinyls and cassettes. in this way she could be distributing void to dave (influencing him with forgotten / presently irrelevant music). now he can REALLY rave about bands none of his friends have heard of. “hey davy grvay watcha listenin to” (he holds up vinyl cover) “omg snakefinger”

We've all seen Sora take the kids and marry Zeff or leaving Zeff custody of Sanji but hear me out: Sora doesn't die and is the one to break Sanji out of the dungeon and escapes with him. They're in some no name town in the East Blue and Sanji sneaks on to Mihawk's little coffin boat to loot him and take it back to his mom and gets caught. Mihawk walks him back to Sora who apologizes profusely and Mihawk can see that shes ill and that they're clearly out of their depth and for whatever reason, his mind cannot fathom it honestly, he offers to take the Kuraigana with him. Sora and Sanji agree too, for whatever reason, maybe they're scared because they know who he is, or they're just that desperate. Either way they agree and leave with him.
They make a supply stop a couple islands away because Mihawk realizes they have nothing except a shared back pack of clothes and that's it. Sanji is trying not to hide behind his mom from Mihawk but he's a kid who's been through a lot and Mihawk reminds him of his brothers and Judge. Mihawk gets them a few outfits and picks up some more food because of how thin they both are. When they check into an inn and Sanji's asleep Sora finds Mihawk and thanks him and says she had to save her son.
Not even a month after they're all settled in his home Mihawk finds himself extremely endeared to this duo and hopes they never leave, it takes him another three to say it and Sora cries happily and Sanji nods. Sora has taken over most of the cleaning and Sanji cooks with Mihawk a lot and Sora has improved greatly. The dynamic isnt perfect by any means but it works for them. Sometimes Sanji's nightmares will wake Mihawk up before they wake him up so Mihawk will sit with him until they do or he calms down. Sora knows a lot about caring for weapons and instruments so she'll tune the piano or clean his antique swords.
Woops Mihawk is in love and suddenly has a wife and child he didn't think he would and Newgate is going to laugh at him. Doesn't even necessarily think of the implications or anything just tells them at dinner over their plates. They don't leave until Sanji decides to go work at Baratie when he's a teen and then joins the straw hat crew. Life goes on. Everyone thinks Sanji's an orphan still since he doesn't talk about his parents. His parents read the paper.
When Perona appears Sora confirms it's not her pink haired daughter but she'll take another. And then look! Zoro's here, Sanji's nakama and the kid Mihawk almost killed, how charming. Zoro's really confused because Mihawk in the castle is different from the master training him and he's a lot softer and kind towards Sora. Sora asks them both about their adventures in pirating and such.
Zoro asks point blank if she's Sanji's mom and she laughs and mentions how that's so Sanji to not talk about them and Mihawk mentions how smart that is because otherwise oops, they're either down a son or Mihawk's bounty is unfrozen. Sora jokes that need two more to make up for the other two she has and Mihawk tells her that they cannot keep collecting kids.
Zoro is absolutely gonna kick Sanji's ass.
That's a whole-ass fix right there, damn! I actually love any au where Sora doesn't die, I don't wanna see her go ngl hahaha ':)
And I genuinely think she can melt almost anyone's heart. But have you thought about the Sanji repressions??? He's already canonically bitchy but now he'll have all the sass from Mihawk as well????? I think that'd be absolutely hilarious!
Plus that would mean that Mihawk was going to the Baratie to check in on his son, that's so cute omg :') And that could also be an excuse for why he didn't kill Sanji's "new friend" during his fight with Zoro.
Also why do I feel like Mihawk would try his damned best to make Sanji call him father instead of dad and Sanji would do it just to spite him.
Sanji: thanks for uh... you know... not killing my new crewmates
Mihawk: I guess it couldn't be helped
Sanji: Whatever, bye dad
Mihawk absolutely not having the heart to correct him at this point:... yeah.
Also Sora adopting Perona during ts makes me so happy. She would brush and braid her hair thinking if she'll ever have the chance to do it with her biological daughter. So that only makes her want to savour every moment with Perona while she can. And I think Perona would love Sora as well, she loves cute and pretty things so they'd make a great dynamic just absolutely driving Mihawk up the wall by redecorating... or as he calls it "ruining the aesthetic" or his castle.

Twilight wants to spend time with Posiden but he’s nervous so he tries to get Suya to come
Suya thinks it’s weird cause she’s not good at reading people
SO she tries to just get Twilight calling him like he’s not the demon king and notes he’s good at making tools
So she gets dragged on their fishing trip
But she doesn’t get the point of it
They try to scold her over it
Because of Suya the two have a heart to heart where this is resolution and SUya gets to eat with them
Suya is hanging out with Twilights dad who appears like a child and Suya is unaware just enjoys playing with a cute kid, but musican is trying to stop her from revealing too much, yet SUya just always seems to talk about Twilight
He wants to hear futuredaughterinlaws I mean Suya’s opinion on Twilight
She thinks Twilight is fine as he is and sees how he’s changing
This chapter is the absolute cutest
Twilight wants to check in on the demon school undercover and they realize Suya is the most suitable amoung them to join him, reluctantly
Its obvious she just wants to play around but then
So does Twilight, neither of them ever had a normal school experience and want to do so.
Suya gives a heartfelt explaination
But Twilight still knows its a bad idea
But he should really know better by now
Anyway they go and get seen by Musician whos teaching that day in their not all that good student disguises.
Suya starts eating secretly in class, Twilight notices and wants some
And she happily shares
They even share a note
And accidently causing musican more stress
Suya brought a heated bento but wasn’t aware they are too cute together
I mean look at these dorks
But they don’t get introuble
The two are getting disillusioned with school life
They both really played up school life in their heads and hoped to get the full experience in a day
On the offhanded mention of dorms they both cheer up look at these dorks
As Twilight goes on about how lovely this is
But musican reminds him its not that different from the situation at the castle
Twilight is such a romantic that Suya kills
Musican’s words strike the right cord and the two are happy to return

i do not have the time or energy to write this but. on the off-chance someone will pick this up. asoiaf/mdzs crossover pls pls pls it would be so good and there are 0 on ao3 rn!!!
just. ok so ik crossovers have kind of gone out of style recently but they're so much fun! they're also just. a really fun way of exploring differences/similarities in how different medias explore certain themes (eg both asoiaf and mdzs have a lot to say on the feudal system, privilege, morality, honour, fucked up family dynamics, redemption, etc but they also focus on different aspects of these themes) and exploring characters via parallels.
putting a bunch of fun character meet-ups below the cut ❤️
like. ok so one thing i think mdzs does that asoiaf doesn't so much is looking at how a character's concept of honour is shaped by privilege. by which i mean - i want to lock jgy and/or xue yang in a room with ned and/or stannis and see what happens.
or speaking of honour - both properties explore the fact that things aren't just black-and-white. God. thirteen-year-time-skip era lwj talking to ned 🥺🥺🥺. or post-canon lwj talking to stannis if u want something less heartbreaking - altho you would have to put in plot reasons for lwj to not just leave.
or if we want to think more parallels - hi wwx and dany!!!! oh my god!!!!! and also when it comes to parallels it doesn't actually need to be those particular characters interacting - eg dany would immediately remind lwj and jc of wwx.
like. concept - for plot reasons, post-canon lwj and jc end up in planetos and have to grudgingly cooperate to get home. they turn up in slavers' bay (either where the portal dumped them or on their way to asshai to find a way home) either in the middle of dany's conquest or soon after she's decided to stay in meereen. then - oh god massive fight over whether to stay or not that very quickly turns into a fight over the resentment they have for each other over the whole wwx-wens debacle. i mean the parallels are obvious - dany = wwx, slaves = wens, dragons = yin tiger seal, etc.
lwj: we should stay to help. this girl is doing the right thing and we should help her.
jc: um, no??? we need to get home and not just abandon the people we love for some strangers. going against orthodoxy never works, she can't win this fight permanently. everyone will turn against her, she'll lose everything, and so will the people who care about her.
lwj: if the people who care about her stand with her then maybe she will win this fight. and even if she doesn't, if they really care about her then they'd prefer to die with her rather than profit from abandoning her.
jc: well maybe they have other people they care about as well and standing with her would put those other people in danger and if she really cared about them then she would stop this madness and come home
dany: im getting the feeling this isnt about me.
anyway they end up staying - there are slaves from all over the world here, maybe someone has useful info; these are very old cities, maybe there's useful info to be found here; waiting for the dragons to grow and then flying to asshai is def safer and might even be quicker; idk the important part is that they stay and want to help. and then maybe it all goes a bit better bc jc actually has experience in ruling and like. rebuilt lotus pier from basically nothing. + lwj to help with doubts and uncertainty. just. i want good things for dany 🥺🥺🥺. also they're used to wwx so their opinions on crucifying the masters would probably be along the lines of like. wow so restrained.
anyway i havent even gotten into like. jgy + jon snow or tyrion which. well i think jgy's main response to jon would be 'oh you think you had it bad???' but he might be more sympathetic to tyrion. or actually it might be more like 'youre just like me (derogatory)'. ugh what an idiot so pathetic he thinks he can get his father to love him ://. unless they meet post-tywin's death. someone: wow can't believe you killed your own father. jgy: well maybe his father was a dick.
also would love a meet-up between jaime and jgy or wwx. the whole - wow ok im evil for doing these things but its fine for you to profit from them?? un fucking believable. why are you mad at me for killing this guy everyone wanted to kill him. wwx could fix jaime, jgy could make him worse.

holy moly xherry7816 you've reached 50 likes !!!! ive been working on some gi designs for the ninja but ive been struggling to show off their individuality while still looking like their gi but i havent actually looked up reference of gi so in pretty sure that should be the first step.
ok so the au (still unnamed) taking place in a slightly canon divergent season 5 MORRO is currently after the realm crystal in his attempts to bring the PREEMINENT (?) to NINJAGO and like destroy it or whatever, solid stuff. except whats different here is that MORRO does not go and posses LLOYD as his first step because he'd struggle more as a human than if he were a ghost so he and his ghoul gang decide to get the hard stuff out the way, the ninja chasing them to put a stop to him obviously. also in this au NYA is not told by WU that she is the water ninja, instead she receives her awakening when defending one of the team from a ghost and then hes like omg :0 !#!%#!$#??
the au starts off with the mission to retrieve the realm crystal on time (before MORRO) because even if he beats them to everythinf else MORRO cant do anything without the crystal. unfortunately for them !!! MORRO is already a few steps ahead and when they reach the resting place of the FSM they find the ghost, crystal in hand. boom boom battle !! and theyre all fighting anf there are ghosts everywhere (NYA is not here bc remember KAI isnt supposed to know hes the water ninja yet) and MORRO is very clearly goig after LLOYD. wait, ok wait i need to type up my thinking process rn or else it wont make sense when i read everything back bc isnt only a spinjulistu master able to find the tomb,,,,, ermmm OK LLOYD possesion- no i cant do that to him. its an au whatever, so yeah MORRO'S in there crystal in hand going after greenie and KAI kicks in yk the brother stuff so theyr fighting anf stuff and like idk MORRO knocks KAI off his feet anf starts heading towards LLOYD again so as a last ditch effort KAI fires towards MORRO and it hits the crystal aaaa ! even thought i cant possibly imagine the crystal being so weak i can just say the power of love made him stronger bc those tight family bonds (im a sucker 4 found famiky but who isnt these days). and then its kinda like the scene in SONIC PRIME where the prism goes boom !! and theres a shockwave and it looks cool and then u see SONIC traversing through the SHATTERVERSE 4 the first time and then he ends up in NEW YOKE, except its KAI landing in the PRIME EMPIRE CITY with all his friends looking different and jazz. the whole mission is to retrive the realm crystal shards and put them back 2gether so he can get home and finish the fight with MORRO. for the og universe i kinda just imagine time stops so 4 the ninja itd look like KAI disappears for a few moments and then comes right back. as i did mention when i was vaugely describing universe 1 (PRIME EMPIRE divergent i hope im usong that word right btw) KAI doesnt stay long in that universe so just like in SONIC PRIME he will return to some universes, whether on purpose or not, to retrieve the shards
i was wondering if i should write a fanfic bc thats what most people seem 2 do but im not really good with keeping up the motivation to write, i used 2 have a miraculous ninjago crossover on ao3 (literally called miraculous bc im unoriginal) but after like 5 updates i did updates like one every 3 months and then deleted it lol so im probably jist going to let this au die when i get tired of it !!!! tbh i need to rewatch ninjago bc im forgetting all my facts (and a SONIC PRIME rewatch not that i really need to but its very good har har)

eli you can’t just say villain camden and then not tell me more… and spy jasmine? how do they meet?? why does she get kidnapped??? this idea is so fun oh my god
Okay, hold on because this is kinda long.
For context, this is all based on the legendary film, DEBS. You can watch the trailer for it here . And be captured enough by the trailer to go watch the film.
Is it corny? Is it stupid? Isnt it bad? Absolutely, but I just love this film and it's a cultural reset.
Now that's out of the way, let's start with the cast and setting before I can answer any further questions. The whole thing is sorta close to the film, but with some differences.
Jasmine is part of a team in the super secret organisation called DEBS, one that recruits through a secret part of the SATs that measures discipline, energy, beauty and strength. She got a perfect score, something that just doesn't happen. Everyone has expectations of her and what she's supposed to do with her life, and it's a bit much. She's recently broken up with her narcissistic boyfriend.
Kerri is the dependable leader on the squad, who takes her role very seriously. She's very preoccupied with the safety of her friends, and always has her eyes on the mission. She's loyal to the organisation to a fault, something that occasionally clouds her judgement when it comes to helping out those she cares about.
Nicky is the French sex obsessed spy who talks in what Jan has dubbed "frenglish". She's an expert in both close combat and artillery. She also has a terrible smoking habit.
Jan is the energetic but ditzy friend who would do anything to help those that she cares about. She even helps Jasmine out by covering for her. Though she doesn't say, she has a little thing for Camden's main henchman.
The skimpy outfits that are the uniform
Lady Camden comes from a long dynasty of criminals, and is the sole heir after her father passed away. No one has met Camden and lived to tell the tale. She's planning on sinking Australia as her grand master plan. She's been out of the public eye for about a year, until she's rumoured to be meeting up with Angeria to plan her next move. She leaves flower petals whenever she's done a heist.
Rock is Camden's right hand woman who, while being a little stupid at times, still manages to get things done. She organises blind dates for Camden, in the hope that she can finally be happy.
Neither willing to back down, the two get to talking, guns still pointed at eachother. Jasmine blabs about having written a thesis on Camden and her exploits, something that intrigues her. The two click and they both drop their guards and guns. Camden leaves when Jasmine's friends come to save her from an allegedly crazy murderer.
The two meet at a stakeout where Camden is out having dinner with Angeria from the Vanmichaels dynasty. Camden feigns being sick and tries to leave the premises. Thinking her cover is blown, Jasmine singlehandedly goes after Camden. Seeing she's followed, Camden grabs her gun and shoots at Jasmine, alerting the others that there's a scuffle. Jasmine draws her own gun as she continues her pursuit. They end up in a blind alley, with no way to hide or escape without turning their backs on eachother.
Unable to get Jasmine out of her mind, Camden breaks into their house and gets her to go with her. Jasmine is a little apprehensive, but ends up going with her. Jan finds the two walking to Camden's car and insists to come with, to make sure Jas is safe. Jasmine manages to convince Jan to go back inside and not to tell a soul about this. Jas and Camden feel a magnetic attraction, but Jas is afraid of the consequences of being found out. Camden suggests staging a kidnapping, so that if Jas ever wants to leave she can with no consequences.
Everyone is out looking for Jasmine, while she's living the freest life she's ever had, doing things she's always wanted. Camden isn't actually as evil as people make her out to be, and the line between good and evil are blurred out.

light novel reread, vol. 2 ch. 5: right to the points
a lot of characters get a lot of good development and fleshing out in this chapter (this is also the chapter that has homophobic kadota in it. i chose to leave that part out tho lmao)
i feel like this chapter gives anri way more characterization than her introduction in volume one does, and honestly theres about as much personality for anri in this chapter alone than there is in the entire anime. so much of her processing and impact in the story and as a character is internal, and it just isnt something that translates well to a visual medium (or at least not something that translated well this time). the first time i watched through the anime i liked her enough, but she doesn't get as much development or onscreen action as some of the other characters enough for me to really grow attached to her, and the first time i read through the novels i don't think i really paused to appreciate the extra details and differences like i am this time. i think i'm going to end up liking her a lot more as we get further into the series.

saburo's willing to risk not only the criminal record but the damage to his car to run some rando over to save anri (at this point in time, another rando) and i love him for that.
im a big fan of the way narita can write serious scenes and arcs while still maintaining a humorous narrative voice, its something he does very well in this chapter. ive mentioned before that his style is a big inspiration for my own writing (possibly cringe), and this is one of the aspects i hope to master for myself.
shes such a badass for this but then the next thought she has is how she thinks shinra would be upset to hear she called someone a piece of shit. as if shinra wouldnt wholeheartedly support literally anything celty does. as if he wouldnt try to be horny about it. come on girl use your brain
side tangent about their friendship: i think its incredibly beneficial to celty to have someone in her life who's accepting of her otherness without being obsessed with it or otherwise fetishizing it (sorry shinra). shizuo just takes her as she is; he couldnt give a fuck about her gender, her head or lack thereof, or much of anything else. he just likes her because she's not annoying and she understands him and shes a good listener. from shizuos perspective, it has to be equally beneficial to have someone else in his life that society sees as a "monster" and see celty living her semblance of a normal life with a partner and a steady job and a solid group of friends, as well as having someone in his life that's physically strong enough to not be harmed by him. shizuo and celty share some casual touch both in the anime in the novels, he claps her on the back a few times and interacts with her otherwise in ways he might be afraid to be close to someone else. theyre great for each other and they love each other so much and im going to slowly build a shizucelty army to go with my shincelty army to ultimately create a shizushincelty empire. thanks for coming to my ted talk.
here's haruna's introduction, i dont really have much to say about it to be honest. i like haruna in a very indifferent way. the rest of the chapter goes back and forth every few paragraphs between anri and haruna's conversation at anri's apartment to shinra and celty's conversation about saika and the kitchen knife back at their own apartment. its not the first instance of this kind of bouncing perspective, but it's becoming more frequent as the story is picking up and narita is becoming more comfortable writing the story/characters.

oooooh. hmmm. i mean raiden does not have a limited reserve of love for them to draw on but he DOES have a limited reserve of TIME so i think that when he gets to come home for a while (before sunny enacts a certain secret master plan) if sunny isn't off who knows where doing tech stuff then john WILL be like i want to hang out with hiiiiim. and raiden's just like. sunny doesn't seem the type to get that way tho so she probably just thinks its kinda funny and occasionally skips out to Plot and let raiden and john have some father-son time because god knows they do not get enough of that. but of course sometimes she isnt in the area so in those cases, no competition... well, except some slight 'competition' with rose but also by virtue of being 100% baby... well john wins pretty much every time. raiden is not immune to small children. son boy allowed

There is a Childless story line that the majority of the fandom hates. I think it explains their regeneration ability. It also severs the identification the Doctor has with the Time Lords as his people. Cause he got tortured to give the Time Lords immortality or something.
Fourteenth is Tennant the Return.
He can articulates his feelings now.

I really like these two there’s not a lot of content for the fandom as a whole soooo here’s my submission as I get every moment of these two royals who literally share a braincell (and I love them for it) First up this is just on the manga if you are anime only its going to have stuff you havent seen, yes even with what the anime covers (so read it) and there will be spoilers so beware. SO Suya pulls Twilight along on her nonsense and also father inlaw is here
ANd it's all cause she had a dream about this bath place
No matter how ridiculous he thinks it is he keeps following, also Suya admits she interupts meetings on purpose
Suya's dreams turned out to be true and she jokes a little
Turns out the former king had made it and the three enjoy it all while father and son bond

Castle issues again I just like how Suya is front and center but Hades doesnt want to help this time
So Suya makes due
ANd it really impresses Twilight
SO she starts making little houses she knows what Twilight cares about
But she overworks and hasn't eaten I love how over the top Twilight is here
SO they make her food and Twilight serves her directly (now spoon feed her sorry its one of my fav tropes)
After she revitalizes Suya Suyas and goes over board making a castle town
And Twilight realizes she's completely right and berates himself for not thinking of it
He cutely makes it into a competition
But while he focuses on that SUya turns the demon castle to suit her tastes. In order to fix it Twilight has to use his full power and he's afraid to do so because he doesnt want other (particularly Suya) to find him scary
He thinks his fears are being realized
But SUya is just severely face blind
The situation is explained and Twilight is back to worrying
But as always SUya throws him through a loop I like that she considers him pitiful
This eases the mood of everyone else but more importantly Suya seems to like this form
And she begins playing with him like usual
Twilight realizes that everyone has calmed down over his second form since Suya did
He is touched by this thinking he'll be able to maintain the state of the castle while looking cool but
SUya ruins it.

Klaus and Katherine
Saw THIS post and I had to make a rant about it so here we go-
Generally in life people pick up traits they are exposed to for prolonged periods over time- especially in abusive relationships. (Of any kind not just romantic)
Those traits are rarely recognized as being learned traits by the person who learned them- however in this case it goes a little deeper for Katherine. Ive made my case and pinpointed examples and facts on my stance that Katherine is BPD. This is actually a new argument for that.
This seen here is called mirroring. It's a common trait in BPD and something often used for survival in social situations. She is mimicking him and she doesn't even always realize that. Katherine's number one goal at all times is survival. Yes she and Klaus thirst for power and control but the difference is Klaus wants to have all of it everywhere and Katherine just wants enough to be safe. She doesn't want to be a ruler she doesnt want to be the king of the quarter- Katherine wants just enough power to be in control and be SAFE. She has no gigantic ambitions like Klaus does. She punishes if you betray her because in order to get what she wants, in order to have her control and safety people need to fear her just as much as they fear KLAUS. She cant afford to be the "lesser of two evils" because in the end being the lesser means they fear Klaus more and are likely to betray her.
Shes learned over centuries how Klaus thinks, how he acts, shes spent countless hours exposed to and studying his behaviors because she HAS TO. WHy do you think she out ran him for 500 years? Because she can think like him, shes HAD to learn for her survival.
What do we see in the two places we actually get to see katherine settled in? In 1864? She wasn't doing anything in that town but falling in love and trying to ensure the safety of her and her friends. That was their home first and foremost, there was no masterful Klaus style plan. All the power Katerina had, all the pull it was just to be able to cover up their existence so they could live in peace.
When we see her hiding in that little town? Yes she has control over everyone, but look at the things she compelled them to do. Keep her secret. Feed her- AND!!!!! She even respected boundaries. The lady Elena talks to? She looks so shocked when Elena goes for her neck and explains that she had asked katherine not to feed from anywhere but her wrist and the shock implies that Katherine listened. She compelled them to keep her secret, feed her, and then the one to hide the cure. After that she was hands off, not pulling puppet strings. She didn't even compel everyone to try and kill anyone looking for her. That is not the same as Klaus' drive.
All of her Klaus like behaviors she had to learn for survival, and over the years shes internalized the things shes had to do and sometimes she really does think shes a monster because of them but she never wanted to be. All Katherine ever wanted was to be loved the way she loves and to be SAFE. And while a lot of Klaus' actions were driven by his fear of Mikael he is not the same as Katherine. She laid low, he made voldemort look like a care-bear.
Katherine did what Stefan tried to do in season 3. She had to become the better villain in order to stay safe and thats exactly what she did in a lot of her schemes. She made the right people afraid of her, built a reputation to scare people into thinking twice about betraying her, and she punished when she had to, but over all? She and her actions will never ever come close to Klaus' level because Katherine ISNT A VILLAIN Shes an anti-hero at best just trying to stay alive in a world where her abuser has a seemingly infinite reach.
She mirrors him because she knows him better than almost anyone (besides his siblings)

this right here. THE REST of that "matching" Klaus line is IMPORTANT
because its a big part of what sets them apart-
Katherine has never once shut off her humanity ever. Klaus disdains love and humanity as a weakness and he goes out of his way to prove he has none and cares nothing for it outside of his family, which he also routinely turns on in a way that suggests he does not understand the concept of love completely.
However Katherine on the other hand clings to humanity and love even if she tries to front and pretend she doesnt. Shes not a cutthroat killer by nature she had to become that way, and even in doing so she kept the most important part of what makes her, her.
"If we cease to believe in love, why would we want to live?"
Klaus shuts out his humanity so he can remain a monster to the masses, Katherine DOESNT shut out her humanity because she never wanted to be like this. Would it be easier for her to cope if she just disregarded her humanity and shut it out? Absolutely. But she cant and she doesnt want to. That line basically said "No matter how hard I try to be I will never be that kind of monster."
"You were a 17 year old girl Katherine. None of this was your fault."

Hellraiser 1 - the original. The best tbh. Sets up a really good foundation for the rest of the series. The plot is mainly about a family thats kinda not that great with each other. Kristi doesnt like her stepmom and the feeling is mutual. But also the stepmom has had an affair with her husband, kristis dad, brother frank. Frank wanted to be more kinky and heard of a way to do so (hint thats the box and also the “you opened the box. I came”) but uh oh! He summoned ancient sex demons called cenobites! But he escaped and now is making kristis stepmom kill people to bring him back. Long story short kristi finds the box, makes a deal with the hell priest aka pinhead, and eventually kills frank. Frank does say a fucking great line right at the end tho. Also there is a dragon
Easy 10/10 classic also the scene with chatters fingers in kritis mouth gets me feeling some sort of way
Hellraiser 2 - a direct sequel to the first. Still follows kristi. Frank is dead dead. But kristis mom is still here and is now making a doctor (who loves to basically torture his patients) kill for her. So she is the new and improved frank. But there is also a puzzle master who was manipulated into opening the box. But she didnt know what the box does so the cenobites just let her go. We see leviathan, the god in charge of creating cenobites basically. Kristis mom is kinda like the mediator. Also the doctor becomes a cenobite and is kinda fucked up in the best way. But puzzle master defeats levathens box-that-turned-into-a-triangle.
Another 10/10 for me. Love the maze also girlboss
Hellraiser 3 - the one that starts to have it go downhill. No kristi. Now a reporter. But also theres a girl who cant dream with a toxic af ex. The ex has a cenobite statue and kills girls after he had sex with them. The statue wants the girl who cant dream. Also wants the reporter. At this point its a solid story imo but itll soon go downhill. Basically the key moment in this movie is when the club gets taken over and a bunch of shitty cenobites are spawned. Theres cd-head who spits cds. Camera-head who had a great one liner and thats it. (please look up pics of cd and camera head its fucking great) The ex was one also but tbh i dont remember. The girl who cant dream also turned into a cenobite which made no sense. Also her design sucked ass.
6/10 the fight at the end was funny and great but not very hellraiser tbh
Hellraiser bloodline - this is it. This is where the series goes downhill. So there is 3 different timelines that all go on simultaneously. And it kinda sucks. Im gonna tell the story in chronological order and not how the movie did it. So some rich dude in the 1800(?) wanted a box to summon a demon. Toymaker made one. They summoned a demon. This box is the box that summons the cenobites. Its now named the lament configuration. Descendants of the toymaker is hunted by this demon chick. She isnt a cenobite btw. But then some dude in “modern” time (modern for when this movie came out) is an artist (architect? Tbh i dont remember) but also a descendant. So the demon chick hunts him down. He summons cenobites. They make the demon girl a cenobite. The toymaker lineage is still going strong in the YEAR 3000???? IN SPACE??? WE ARE IN SPACE BRUH anyways the new descendant wants to blow up this ship to kill the cenobites. Cuz the box works in space. And it works i guess??
4/10 sexy demon lady cenobite is fucking hot
Hellraiser Inferno - the main character is a cop that cheats on his wife, does hard drugs, doesnt seem to care for his kid, and lies to his boss about important murder info. So basically hes terrible. So this dude is obsessed with finding the engineer who is killing people. Also the lament configuration is still here. He meets more new cenobites mainly the wire twins (which has the most confusingly erotic scene in the whole film iynyn) everyone think the main dude is the killer. Everyone around him dies and also he seems to be going through a lot mentally when in reality he opened the box and pinhead is coming after him. Big plot twist? Hes now in a time loop
3/10 points for the wire twins
Hellraiser Hellseeker - ok so. Kristi is back! She is now married to a piece of shit dude who brought her the box for their wedding anniversary. But also she is missing and the husband is the #1 suspect obviously. But he swears that its not him. But also he cheats on kristi with his boss. The husband has a series of hallucinations cuz he opened the box. But also his boss is now dead and he is the #1 suspect…….again. But his coworker was like “dude you fucked up our plan to get all of kristis money when we wanted to stage her death as a suicide”. Turns out this entire thing was a dream and kristi made a deal with the cenobites and she is still alive
5/10 tbh the plot twist at the end saved the entire movie for me
Hellraiser Deader - ok this one is confusing and tbh i barely remember it so bare with me. Reporter girl is given a tape by her boss and told to investigate it. Its a cult around the lament configuration. So she is trying to figure out more and goes on wacky adventures including an orgy train. But the people who died in this cult place actually come back to life. Thats a big part. But it has to be a certain way. Ok so at this point i googled the plot and i still cant make sense of it sooo…….
6/10 i actually enjoyed this movie even tho i have no clue whats going on
Hellraiser hellworld - hear me out. What if the lament configuration was a video game? I shit you not that is the plot. If you solve the box then you get an invitation to a special party. Bunch of friends blame themselves for their friends suicide btw. The host is this old man btw. But the people are taken apart one by one and killed by the cenobites. Or the host. Actually its kinda both. The host is actually their dead friends dad who drugged them and turned out this is all a hallucination. Also he summoned the cenobites from the box that his son used so turns out their dead friend was just kinky. But 2 people lived
4/10 not bad but not good. Also i had no idea that henry cavill was in it
Hellraiser Revelations - 2 families meet up on the anniversary of their sons death. One son was dating the others daughter. They filmed themselves going to mexico and getting drunk. Also having sex with other ladies and filming it. But one of them died. So they kinda go on the run? But in the end they are given the box so its kinda obvious where they are. But its not! Cuz one of them, the one with the sister, is still alive! But hes not acting right! Also the house is kinda in its own space field cuz they cant go anywhere or call anyone. Turns out (after a fucking awful scene where the bro and sis kiss) the brother isnt actually the brother but the friend who stole the others skin. But the dude comes back and kills him
5/10 eh wanted more pinhead
Hellraiser judgment - so this dude (who is highkey kinda cute tho) writes peoples sins? And another dude eats it. Its so fucking gross. So there is a detective who works with his bro. Detective is way to invested in the person that they are looking for who is killing a lot of people. Also btw the dog doesnt die! The dog is just stuffed in a ladies womb! Tbh i actually liked this movie. New detective sees that the dude is kinda sus. The bro says nah hes cool. But also hes not. He meets the cenobites but a fucking angel was like nope he cant die send him back out. Pinhead is essentially a mob boss in this one and i kinda love it. But he is not happy he wants to kill. The dude opened the box so pinhead must kill. Anyways turns out the dude is the killer and they figured this out from tale of 2 cities. But pinhead wants to kill!!! The angel stops him again saying that they need more sin. Hey remember how frank died in the first film with the hooks and that awesome final line? Yea they remake that with the angel it was pretty sick tbh
8/10 the eating in this movie made me sick
