Kamen Rider Deku (Rewrite) Mission 1: Birth of a Rider
AO3 / Master List
Inside a bedroom with nothing other than hero memorabilia, a skinny boy in his middle-to-late teens and average height began to wake up from his slumber. He had fluffy and curly green bush-like hair, fair skin, green eyes, and freckled cheeks. Overall he had a plain look.
He got out of bed and began walking around his room toward his dresser. After a few seconds, the boy collects all of his clothes and leaves his room to go to the bathroom and get ready. As he is, two older, similarly looking people see him from where they are at a table.
"Morning, son." An older man with curly black hair, slightly tanned skin, freckled cheeks, and red eyes called out to the younger boy.
The man is wearing a black long-sleeve shirt under a white lab coat with blue jeans and socks.
The teen tiredly turns towards the man and gives him a wave.
"Morning, dad. Morning, mom." The teen tells his parents with a half-awake smile while waving hello.
"Good morning Izuku. Are you ready for school today? You said your class's career aptitude test results come in today." An older short, plump woman with light skin, green eyes, and long green hair with some of it tied in a messy bun says to the boy.
The woman is wearing a white shirt under a pink long-sleeve v-neck shirt with a blue skirt that goes to her kneecaps and white slippers.
"Yeah, our teacher told us that they should be arriving today. So, that's exciting." Izuku yawns while rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"Well, after school, why don't you come to my lab? I have a surprise for you that I think you'll love." Izuku's father tells him.
"Alright, dad," Izuku tells him with a smile before entering the bathroom.
Izuku's mom lets out a content sigh before smiling at her husband.
"Have I ever told you how thankful I am that Izuku's out of Aldera?" She asks her husband despite already knowing the answer.
"Yes, Inko, you've told me this for three years now after I returned from overseas to work on a new project." Her husband tells her.
"Well, I'm sorry if I'm being repetitive, Hisashi, but it's nice to see how much Izuku's mood has improved since he entered high school. He's smiling a lot now." Inko tells her husband with a playful glare.
"Yeah, now, if only he would make some friends outside my coworkers' kids," Hisashi tells her, causing Inko to smile at him.
"Don't worry, dear. He just needs a little more time." Inko tells him in a soothing tone before taking another sip of her mug.
Hisashi sighs, knowing his wife is right.
"You're right, honey." Hisashi agrees with her while looking at the ceiling with a smile.
-------------------
Izuku is in the bathroom looking in the mirror while muttering.
"Alright, you can do this. The career results aren't what you have to go with. They are only there to help guide you."
The boy is attempting to pump himself up for the school day. After a few more seconds of doing this, Izuku grabs his toothbrush and begins brushing his teeth. However, he continues his muttering while cleaning his teeth.
"But what if I end up *brush* getting horrible career opti-*brush*. Will that represent my work level in general?" He continues muttering things like these to himself for a couple of minutes while brushing his teeth.
After brushing his teeth, he gets dressed and leaves the bathroom.
He leaves the bathroom now dressed in a sleeveless black vest over a white long-sleeve shirt with a red tie and grey pants.
After getting dressed, he sits at the table with his parents for breakfast.
"So, are you excited for your last year of high school?" Hisashi asks his son as they eat.
Izuku swallows his food and then says.
"Yeah, I'm almost done, and then it's off to be a hero."
Hisashi grins at his son while Inko has a bittersweet smile on her face.
"Attaboy, never give up on your dream. I didn't get to where I am by giving up halfway on my dream. Be sure to come to my lab today. Trust me; it'll help you a lot if you do." Hisashi confidently tells his son before taking another bite of his breakfast.
Izuku nods before finishing his breakfast and getting up to leave.
"Bye, mom. Bye, dad. I love you guys. I'll see you after school, dad." He tells his parents after getting a pair of red shoes with white soles and black laces on and grabbing his bag.
"Have a good day, sweetie," Inko calls to her son with a smile as Izuku leaves.
She then looks at her husband in worry.
"Are you sure you want to go through with this, Hisashi? I mean, those nomus are dangerous, and I'm sure you can find another way to help Izuku become a hero." Inko tells her husband with obvious worry in her tone.
Hisashi gives his wife a calming smile before telling her.
"Don't worry, Inko. Izuku will be okay. His determination hasn't wavered despite what everyone else told him. He's two of a kind." Hisashi says with an attempted soothing tone.
"But he hasn't even gone to a hero school yet. He's not properly trained!" Inko exclaims to her husband.
Hisashi looks at Inko with calm eyes despite her outburst.
"Inko, trust me. I know this will do nothing but help Izuku in the end." Hisashi tells his wife while reaching across the table and putting a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Inko starts to tear up and bites her lip in worry.
"I know. This will let Izuku finally accomplish his dream. I should be happy about that, but I don't want my baby to be in danger." Inko tells her husband with tears.
"I know, but Izuku isn't a little kid anymore. He's old enough to be making his own decisions. And that decision is to follow his dream of becoming a hero. All we can do is continue to support him however we can." Hisashi tells Inko soothingly.
Inko accepts Hisashi's words and calms down.
"You're right. You're sure he'll be okay, though, right? Our baby will be okay while doing this?" Inko asks her husband.
Hisashi gives her a calm look.
"I won't lie to you and say he won't get hurt. That's part of his dream job. However, with my team's project, he'll be safer than the average pro hero." Hisashi tells his wife with a smile, causing Inko to calm down and smile at him.
"I can't believe this day has really come," Inko tells her husband honestly.
"You can blame my genetics on that, dear. My family is known for never being willing to give up." Hisashi tells her with a closed eyes smile.
Inko gives him a look before telling him in an annoyed tone.
"That's not something to be proud of, Hisashi."
-------------------
As this conversation happens, Izuku leaves his home and goes outside, revealing that his family lives on the top floor of a large apartment complex. Izuku runs down the stairs of the complex towards the parking lot.
When he gets to the parking lot, he runs toward a green motor scooter with a black helmet resting on the seat. Izuku straps the helmet on his head and starts his scooter before driving off.
Within a few minutes of driving, Izuku finds himself having to stop due to traffic. Izuku moves to the bike lane and drives forward to get a closer look at the cause of the traffic. When he does, he sees that a crime is in progress. Much to his excitement. He gets off his scooter and takes off his helmet to rest it on the seat before running off to see who's fighting.
When he gets there, he sees a giant man with a shark-like head fighting on top of train tracks against multiple heroes.
The man has light skin, brown hair in dreadlocks on the back of his head, and a brown goatee under his shark head.
He wears a torn-up black jacket that exposes most of his torso and light blue jeans that are surprisingly untorn.
Izuku pushes his way to the front of the crowd that formed to watch the fight in time to hear someone talk about what happened.
"So, what did the big guy do?" Someone in the crowd asks another person curiously.
"He snatched a purse but got cornered by the heroes around pretty quickly." Another person in the crowd explains.
"A Quirk like that, and the guy is a common purse snatcher? Such a waste." The onlooker that asked the question shakes their head in disappointment.
The man roars as he slams his fist into a tower, causing it to fall towards the onlooking crowd. Some people back away in panic, but before it can fall in front of them, someone moves under it and catches it with their bare hands.
That person is a muscular man with light skin and white spiky slicked back hair behind a caution tape-colored headband.
The man wears a long-sleeve dark blue vest with dark grey buttons that expose most of his torso, purplish-blue jeans with grey streaks on the outer legs, and black boots. On the ends of the man's sleeves are two thick police tape-colored wrist guards, and he has a matching colored belt around his waist.
"Awesome, it's the Punching Hero, Deatharms!" One civilian in the crowd excitedly shouts when they see the hero.
"Great save, Deatharms!" Another civilian complimented the man on his feat of strength.
"I wish I had a Quirk that made me super strong!" A third civilian shouts their wish to be like the man.
Deatharms looks at the group of civilians while holding the tower over his head. However, someone else covers what he wants to tell the crowd while creating a water fence to keep them back.
"Everyone, please stay back! This area is far too dangerous!"
The man who shouts this is a hero wearing a firefighter uniform with a water cannon strapped to their back.
The man has a robotic appearance due to a white mask with an orange orb in the middle. The man's hands seem to be water taps with circular red wrist guards that have red valves on top of them. The same bulbs are on his kneecaps, albeit lacking the valves. The man also wears a pair of orange sneakers with black ankle guards and orange and black striped socks that go to his knees.
"It's Backdraft! He's a rescue specialist who's saved a lot of people from fire-related accidents." Someone exclaims before excitedly explaining the hero's work to their friend next to them.
"We're safe now." Another civilian happily says as they continue to watch the fight go on.
"No wonder the guy is desperate enough to go full monster. Will all of these awesome heroes, he couldn't do anything else." Another excited civilian mutter next to Izuku.
"I got held up the train's out. Another villain. I'm not sure when I'm gonna make it into the office." Someone explains on their phone.
However, the crowd suddenly hears a variety of loud squealing as a new hero swings onto the scene.
"It's Kamui Woods!" A group of fangirls squeals in excitement as the hero swings toward the villain.
The hero swinging in is a lean man in a black full-body suit with various pieces of wood clothing on them. These include a wooden helmet with a face mask, wooden gloves that stop before his shoulders, a wooden belt with flowers hanging from his left side, wood knee guards, and wood boots.
The wood on one of the gloves has been extended into whip-like branches that the hero uses to swing toward the enemy.
"Get away from me, or you'll regret it!" The giant villain angrily shouts as he tries to swing at Kamui Woods.
However, he misses as Kamui Woods dodges the attack using his branches to swing and escape the oncoming attack.
"This is going to be awesome. The rising star of the hero world, who hasn't been a full-time hero for long but has still been making a big name for himself, is here to defeat the villain." Izuku excitedly says as he pulls out a white notebook with the words 'Hero Analysis Notebook No. 13' on the front of it and begins writing in it.
The man near Izuku with four-pointed stars growing out of his head sees Izuku doing this and smiles at him.
"I know that kind of dopey grin. You're a fanboy, aren't you?" The man asks the boy with a grin of his own.
Izuku looks toward the man, and his grin turns into a nervous smile.
"Uh, sort of," Izuku tells the man before the crowd hears Kamui Woods speaking.
"Assault, robbery, and illegal use of powers during rush hour traffic!" Kamui Woods lists the man's crimes as he lands on top of a non-moving train in front of the giant criminal.
"You are the incarnation of evil!" Kamui Woods shouts at the man as he rears his arm back.
"Here comes his special move!" Someone in the crowd shouts in excitement.
"Come on, hero. Show us something interesting." The man next to Izuku shouts in excitement.
"Pre-Emptive Binding Lacquered Chain Prison!" Kamui Woods shouts as he throws his arm forward, and multiple branches grow from his wooden gauntlets to try and bind the giant villain.
However, his move doesn't have a chance to land on the criminal because someone else lands their super move on the villain first.
"Canyon Cannon!" A feminine voice shouts as a giant woman slams a flying kick into the villain while he's distracted by Kamui Woods.
The woman who landed the kick was in her mid-twenties with long blond hair that goes to her back, light skin, and purple eyes.
Her costume consists of a purple and tan skin-tight bodysuit with orange accents between the two colors, purple gloves that stop before the elbow with orange accents at the ends, and a purple domino mask with horns on the sides of her head.
"Money shot, money shot, money shot." People within the crowd began to mutter repeatedly as they took pictures of the woman.
"This was nothing for the world's next best heroine." The woman proudly says as she leans down to grab the knocked-out villain.
The woman then turns their head towards the crowd with a smile.
"Nice to meet you all. My name is Mt. Lady, and you don't have to worry about this bum anymore." Mt. Lady tells the crowd while giving them a wink and emphasizing her backside.
"Money shot, money shot, money shot." The crowd again begins to mutter in tandem as they take photos of the woman.
Kamui Woods looks shocked at this, unable to believe the turn of events. He looks at Mt. Lady and then the crowd before muttering.
"What? Why is she getting all of the credit?"
Izuku gives Kamui Woods a look of pity. However, he quickly refocuses on his notebook and creates a new section for Mt. Lady.
"Gigantification, huh? She has the image to become a crowd favorite, and her Quirk is powerful. However, it may be hard to get around with her Quirk, and it can cause tons of property damage. So, her Quirk may not be as useful in city areas." Izuku mutters as he writes notes inside his notebook.
The man close to Izuku grins at him as he listens to the boy unconsciously voice his thoughts in rapid muttering. The man gives Izuku a light tap on the shoulder, causing the boy to wake up from his trance, and smiles at the boy before saying.
"Let me guess. You want to become a hero? Don't you, Fanboy?"
Izuku gains a bright smile when the man asks that before answering honestly with a bright smile shining on his face.
"Yes, more than anything," Izuku tells the man.
The man smiles at Izuku before giving him a thumbs up.
"Well, good luck then. You can do it." The man encourages Izuku.
Those words make Izuku's smile shine even brighter, and he nods at the man.
"Thank you, sir," Izuku tells the man before leaving the crowd to return to his scooter.
Izuku gets back on, and traffic starts moving again.
-------------------
Later, Izuku sits in class as their teacher holds up a stack of test papers for their students to see.
Izuku's teacher is a man in a brown suit with goat horns growing from his forehead.
"Alright, class, you're career aptitude test results have come in today. I'm sure you all don't care about these results since you all want to be heroes, but it's good to have a backup plan in mind if your first choice doesn't work out for you." The teacher tells his students before going around the room and passing out the aptitude results.
Izuku takes his test and looks over the results. The results came in as a color-coded pie chart with various percentages. Under the pie chart are a few different job suggestions.
"Investigative 32%, artistic 12%, enterprising 24%, social 8%, conventional 12%, realistic 12%." Izuku reads off the list in his mind.
Izuku then looks down the paper to see what jobs the career aptitude test job suggestions are.
"Number one is a Quirk analyst, number two is a detective, and number three is a profiler." Izuku reads the suggestions off in his mind.
Izuku has a smile on his face as he sees that all of his jobs are related to hero work in some way.
After the teacher passes out the results, he's back at his desk and looking at another stack of papers.
"All of your guys' test results are good. All of you should be able to get into a good university if you keep this up. One of you may even be able to get into UA university and become a top-class hero." The teacher tells his students with a smile as he looks over the papers.
This got the class muttering amongst each other.
"UA, that's the best hero track-focused university in Japan."
"It has a less than .5% acceptance rate."
"Can one of us really make it there?"
Izuku listens to this all. However, the teacher stops on one particular piece of paper and smiles at Izuku.
"It looks like one of you is ambitious enough to aim for UA. I wish that student good luck in getting in." The teacher says to his class as he gives them a warm smile while not aiming it at anyone in particular.
The class looks around to see if they can figure out who's aiming for UA while Izuku looks down at his desk.
"Alright, that's enough. Let's get back to class." The teacher tells his students, getting the class back on track.
-------------------
Izuku is packing up to leave before being stopped by two hands resting on his desk. Izuku starts to clam up from nervousness as he looks up to see who the hands belong to.
The person standing in front of Izuku is a boy with straight chin-length black hair, light skin, and black dotted pupils in his eyes.
The boy is wearing the same uniform as Izuku but slightly customized due to bulges on the sides of his elbows. The boy also has on a pair of yellow and white sneakers.
The boy was leaning forward until he was inches from Izuku's face. The boy then asks Midoriya in a carefree tone.
"So, you're the one who's aiming for UA, right, Midoriya?"
Izuku blushes in embarrassment before looking at his desk in nervousness.
"Ah, relax, dude. I'm just curious. You're the only one who looked at their desk while everyone else tried to figure out who wanted to go to UA." The boy tells Izuku in a calm tone.
Izuku looks at him before nodding his head.
"Yeah, UA finally lifted that rule on people without a Quirk being ineligible to take the exam," Izuku explains to the teen.
"So, what do you think are the chances of us getting in?" The boy asks Izuku curiously with a grin.
"Us?" Izuku questions.
"Yeah, I'm aiming for UA too. So, I'm curious what one of the smartest kids in school thinks about our chances of getting in." The boy tells Izuku, never losing his grin.
Izuku looks at the boy before adopting a look of deep thought. While thinking about the other teen's chances, he begins a tirade of mumbling.
"Well, as long as the practical exam involves capturing something, you would likely pass it due to your Quirk's flexibility. I mean, your Quirk lets you travel around quickly. How fast is the tape you shoot out?" Izuku asks the teen curiously.
The teen puts a hand to their chin and adopts his own thinking look.
"Uh, pretty quickly, now that I think about it. I've been practicing more with it lately. So it may get faster by exam day." The teen tells Izuku.
"Then, I think you can pass the exam as long as you keep practicing and studying for the academic portion of the exam," Izuku explains to the teen with a smile.
The teen gives Izuku a thankful smile and pats him on the back.
"Thanks, Midoriya. I'll try and do that. I wish you good luck in the exam too." The teen tells Izuku.
Izuku blushes and stutters.
"T-thank you, S-Sero," Izuku tells the other teen, not used to this kind of treatment.
"No problem, dude. Well, later." Sero waves him off before leaving class.
Izuku finishes packing up his stuff and heads toward his scooter. As he does, a reminder goes off on his phone. He pulls it out to see it's telling him to go to his dad's lab.
"Right, dad wants me to head over there. I wonder what he wants me to see?" Izuku questions himself as he gets on his scooter and drives off.
-------------------
It takes Izuku twenty minutes to get to the building where his dad's lab is.
The building is a silver, five-sided, skyscraper tower building with one side consisting of all glass windows over concrete, then glass, then concrete pattern each other side of the building has.
Izuku is stopped at the front gate of the area. He looks in the booth next to him to see a plump man that looks like a raccoon dressed in a security guard outfit.
"Afternoon, Midoriya. Are you seeing your father again?" The man asks Izuku with a smile.
"Yes, dad said he had something he wanted to show me," Izuku tells the man with a smile.
"Well, you know the procedure by now." The raccoon man tells Izuku.
Izuku nods and gets off his scooter as several other guards walk up to him to search him.
A girl with short pink hair and purple eyes holds their palm at Izuku, and light emanates from it onto Izuku's body, searching for if he's hiding anything. A man that looks like a bloodhound begins to sniff Izuku to see if there are any strange scents. A third security guard, a male with yellow, four-pointed star pupils, stares at Izuku with calculating eyes.
As these three are going over Izuku, the other security guards are going over his scooter and his bag to see if there's anything suspicious. A metallic woman searches through Izuku's bag as two men, one with glasses while the other has red skin, inspect Izuku's scooter.
After a few minutes, the security guards backed away from Izuku after giving him back his belongings and letting him through the gate.
"Have a good day, Midoriya. I'll see you when you come out." The raccoon man waves to Izuku as he leaves.
Izuku waves back toward the man before focusing on finding a parking spot. After finding one, Izuku gets off and heads inside. When he enters, he is met with a white lobby. Izuku heads towards the reception desk, where he meets a male receptionist with horns growing from his cheeks. The man smiles at Izuku when he looks up from his computer and motions for him to go past the desk.
"Delivering another late lunch today, Midoriya?" The man asks Izuku as he motions for Izuku to go ahead and leave.
"No, dad wanted to show me something he invented," Izuku explains to the man.
"Well, you know where his lab is. Be careful, though. This place is known for its experiments that can go wrong." The man tells Izuku, who nods their head.
"Right," Izuku tells the man as he walks past the reception desk and towards an elevator.
Izuku hits a button that leads towards the upper floors and waits inside the elevator for a few seconds before it dings, signaling he's arrived. After that, he walks down the hallway as various sounds go off in different rooms around him as he passes them.
"Hey, careful with tha-*explosion*,"
"*Drilling noises*"
"*Flamethrower*"
"Alright, I think we've stabilized it." A female voice says before the door of that lab gains a fist-shaped dent.
"Nevermind." That same voice groans in annoyance.
Izuku walks towards the door at the end of the hallway before stopping in front of it. On the front of the door is a gold plate with the name Hisashi Midoriya written on it. Izuku rings the doorbell next to the lab door with another plate above it that reads, "Please ring the doorbell and wait for someone to open it to make sure you're safe." and waits for someone to open it.
After a few seconds, a man with light skin, messy brown hair, blue eyes behind black-framed glasses, and a brown goatee opens the door with a smile.
The man is wearing a dark blue long-sleeve button-up shirt with a shirt pocket on the left, lightish blue jeans with a brown belt, dark blue, almost purple, sneakers with white laces, and a black wristwatch on his left wrist.
"Glad to see you're finally here, Izuku. Come in, come in." The man tells the teen as he motions for Izuku to come inside.
Izuku enters the lab to see various workbenches, machinery, and a reinforced glass shield. However, what catches Izuku's attention is a reinforced black suitcase with a high-tech lock resting on one of the stations. He stares at this so much that he doesn't notice the other two occupants in the room beside the one that let him in.
"Well, your eyes are still working. Since you immediately started staring at your present." Hisashi laughs when he sees his son's curious eyes staring at the case.
Izuku jumps at the sudden noise like a scared rabbit and immediately turns around to see his father, the man that let him in, and a third man.
The third man looks to be in his late forties to early fifties. He's plump with light skin, balding dirty blond hair, and seems to have constantly closed eyes.
The man is dressed in a light grey short-sleeve shirt with a blue tie and brown overalls connected to black pants and brown shoes.
"It's nice to see you again, Izuku. It's too bad you didn't bring any of your mother's food, though." The third man says with a light laugh as he pats his stomach with one hand.
Hiashi wacks him on the back of the head playfully and gives the man a light glare while saying.
"Hey, that's my wife's food you're talking about. That's reserved for me, you glutton." Hisashi tells the man with a faux angry tone.
The one that let Izuku in releases a laugh as he sees the other two's antics.
"Alright, you two, settle down so we can show Izuku the results of our research from the last few years." The brown-haired man tells his compatriots as he gets between them.
Hisashi loses his glare and releases a faux annoyed sigh while saying.
"Yes, mom."
The brown-haired man looks at Izuku with a smile and says.
"So, are you ready to see your father's present, Izuku?" The man asks the boy as he walks around Izuku towards the suitcase.
Izuku immediately nods.
"Yes, Mr. Shield," Izuku tells the man with a smile.
"Why would you bother asking that, David? If he didn't want to see it, he wouldn't have shown up in the first place." Hisashi tells the man with an annoyed huff.
"Excuse me for wanting to check since this is a big moment for your son. I'd want to check with Melissa constantly if something like this happened to her." David tells Hisashi with a shrug.
David's words started to make Izuku nervous and excited. Nervous at what it could be, but excited since his words make Izuku think his dad made him something that will help him with his dream of becoming a hero.
"It is a big day for him, Hisashi." The third man tells Hisashi, agreeing with David.
"Yeah, yeah. Alright, Izuku. It's time for you to see your early birthday gift." Hisashi tells Izuku as he heads towards the suitcase and unlocks it.
Hisashi moves to the side so that Izuku can get a good look at the items in the suitcase. When Izuku sees them, his eyes sparkle with curiosity.
The first item inside is a black and silver belt-buckle-like device. In the middle of the top is a coin slot leading to a glass lens in the center of the device. A golden H design connects to the lens with two curved lines protruding from each side in wing-like fashions. On the left side of the device is a black key with golden highlights around it.
The second item in the case isn't quite an item but a group of them. Resting next to the belt buckle-like device in a vertical line is a set of three bronze coins, each with a different design. The top coin has a rabbit design, the middle coin has a dragon head breathing fire design, and the last coin has a lightning bolt design.
The third item resting next to the coins is a silver device that looks like it attaches to the left side of a belt. It's a small circular box that looks big enough to hold a certain amount of the coins it is next to.
Izuku's eyes shine with anticipation and curiosity as he examines all the items in the suitcase. Hisashi, David, and the third man see this and grin at the boy's expression.
"This, Izuku, is the Hero Driver. It's specifically made to combat the Nomu." Hisashi tells Izuku with a grin.
Izuku is snapped out of his stupor and looks towards his father in shock.
"You mean the villains that seem to have multiple Quirks?" Izuku asks his father in shock.
"Those are the ones. The Hero Public Safety Commission commissioned us to make this device to create a hero that can hunt down and defeat them while not diverting any pro heroes from their duties. Well, that's the official story anyway." Hisashi explains to Izuku as he stares at the device with a satisfied look.
His father's words confuse Izuku. Specifically, the part about the official story.
"What do you mean by the official story?" Izuku asks his father.
"Oh, the true reason you're getting this instead of a pro hero is that I made a clause in the contract that I'm the only one allowed to decide who gets a Hero Driver," Hisashi explains to his son with a smirk.
Izuku gapes at his father while David and the third man facepalm at their colleague's bluntness.
"Remind me again. Why did we agree to help develop the Hero Driver with this man using our Quirk amplification research, Samuel?" David asks the third man, finally giving him a name.
"Because he gave us a chance to continue using the research without the risk of being shut down," Samuel tells David.
"Right." David nods as Izuku begins to mutter at a rapid pace.
"Wait, this would have gone to a hero if I wasn't around? Doesn't that mean I'm getting in the way of stopping some of the most dangerous villains to plague Japan? Can I really be given such a big task as defeating them when pro heroes have trouble beating them?" Izuku rapidly questions himself as he looks at the device.
Hisashi facepalms while muttering to himself.
"I wish he didn't get my muttering habit and Inko's waterfall-like tear ducts. It should have stopped at the freckles and green hair." Hisashi mutters in annoyance before walking towards his son, grabbing him by the shoulders, and shaking him out of his trance.
"Alright, none of that. You'll do fine, I promise. I wouldn't be giving you this if I didn't think you couldn't handle being a hero, son." Hisashi reassures his son as he shakes Izuku out of his trance.
Izuku looks at his father, uncertainly still in his eyes. Hisashi sees this and decides not to worry about it in favor of explaining the device to his son.
"Let me tell you how to use the Hero Driver. The coins you see next to it are called Power Coins. They each mimic the power of a different Quirk. So far, you have the Rabbit, Draco-Breath, and Charge Power Coins." Hisashi starts by explaining what the coins next to the device are.
Izuku's eyes shine when he's told about the coins and their names.
"Wait, do you mean I can use Miruko and your Quirks with the Hero Driver?" Izuku asks.
Hisashi grins when Izuku asks this.
"You catch on quickly, Izuku. Yep, to counteract the fact that Nomu can use multiple Quirks, we developed the Hero Driver to do the same and amplify the strength of whatever Quirk its wielder uses." Hisashi explains to Izuku, whose eyes sparkle at this explanation.
"That's amazing! This device will revolutionize heroics and Quirk use!" Izuku shouts in amazement as he stares at his father.
Hisashi points at his son and says.
"That's the idea, son. If villains want to revolutionize villainy and Quirk use, we need to do the same thing, but better." Hisashi tells his son with a grin.
Izuku's eyes shine in excitement as he thinks about the possibilities with this device. He is unconsciously voicing these thoughts via muttering.
"With this device, heroes can go into any situation prepared because they can wield more than one Quirk. They could use a sonar Quirk to find anyone stuck under rubble before using a strength-enhancing Quirk to free them. Or they can use hydrokinesis and terrakinesis to help close off and put out fires on their own. If an entire team of people had this device, they'd be the most diverse team in history." Izuku rapidly mutters before taking out a notebook and writing in it.
Hisashi shakes him out of his trance again.
"You've got it, Izuku. And you'll be the one to use the first perfected model of the Hero Driver. So, congratulations on becoming one of the most diverse heroes in history. Now, let me finish explaining it to you. So, you know how to use it." Hisashi tells his son as he shakes him.
Hisashi leaves no room for protest as he immediately grabs the belt-buckle-like device and gives Izuku an up-close look.
"First, you'll attach the Hero Driver to your waist like a belt, and then you'll want to insert one of the Power Coins into the coin slot on the top," Hisashi explains while pointing at the slot on the top middle of the device.
"After you insert a Power Coin, the device will analyze it and create a set of high-tech armor to protect you and enhance your abilities based on what coin you used. It will also give you two weapons to help you fight. A multifunctional weapon that the driver is programmed to give all riders and a weapon custom-made for the Power Coin you used to transform. The weapons' attacks can be enhanced with Power Coins as well." Hisashi explains to his son before motioning towards the key on the side of the device.
"You turn this key to activate your finisher or super move. It will supercharge your Quirk and suit to deliver a devastating attack." Hisashi explains to his son.
Izuku nods his head to show his father that he's following along. However, Hisashi doesn't need that since he can see his son's eyes practically turn into stars from his fascination with the device.
Hisashi sets the Hero Driver back into the briefcase before taking out the circular box and opening it to reveal six coin holder spaces. Grey coins take up three of the spaces inside the container.
"This is your Hero Coin Holder. It does what it implies and provides somewhere to hold your Power Coins. The grey coins inside of it are blank Power Coins that don't have a quirk inside of them yet." Hisashi explains to Izuku.
Izuku looks confused at his father's words and asks.
"How do you put a quirk in them?"
Hisashi's grin grows when Izuku asks him that, and he tells Izuku.
"Simple, you throw them at the beaten Nomu, and the blank Power Coins will analyze them and catalog a Quirk the Nomu had inside it."
Izuku looks shocked at his father's words, but before he can say anything, Hisashi interrupts him.
"You got it again, son. The person using this will only grow stronger with the more Nomu they defeat." Hisashi tells Izuku with his grin threatening to split his face.
"Incredible." Izuku quietly mutters in shock as he stares at the device from a new perspective.
'Yep. And you're going to be using this to become a hero." Hisashi tells Izuku as he puts the container back in the briefcase and tosses it to Izuku.
Izuku catches it with a grunt and then stares at it with shocked eyes before looking at his father uncertainly.
"B-but I haven't even gone through hero training yet. A-are you sure I should be trusted with handling this? Shouldn't a pro hero be given this instead?" Izuku asks his father worriedly.
"No, I'm giving you this not only because you're my son and you want to be a hero but also because I know you can handle it," Hisashi tells his son confidently as he places his hands on Izuku's shoulders.
Izuku still looks uncertain, and Hisashi takes the initiative by taking out one of Izuku's "Hero Analysis" notebooks.
"Izuku, look at these notes you've taken. You have the potential to become a top-tier Quirk analyst. You're the perfect choice to wield equipment that lets people use multiple Quirks. You'll be able to use the Hero Driver to its full potential with your ability. You may not be physically strong, but the Hero Driver will cover that. You can be a hero with this." Hisashi tells his son as he flips through a few pages in the notebook for him and Izuku to look at.
"B-but isn't vigilantism illegal? What am I supposed to do without a hero license?" Izuku asks his father.
Hisashi blinks for a few seconds before facepalming and digging into his lab coat's pocket.
"I knew I forgot something," Hisashi mutters in annoyance as he pulls out a laminated card and gives it to Izuku.
On the top of the card are the words "Kamen Rider Program." The card explains how masked heroes with the Hero Driver are permitted to use their powers for heroics during emergencies and to hunt down Nomu. On the right side of the card is a picture of the Hero Driver. On the bottom of the card is the name Fumihito Hikage.
"It's a temporary permit that lets you work as a hero as long as you use the Hero Driver. The Commission's chairman signed it himself. So, you won't have to worry about getting in trouble for vigilantism." Hisashi explains to Izuku.
Izuku looks at it in shock before something else pops up.
"How am I supposed to track down Nomu to fight them?" Izuku asks.
Hisashi rubs the back of his head when Izuku asks that, and David takes over.
"That's a bit of a problem. We have no real way to track them down. So, you'll have to wait for the Commission to alert you themselves." David explains to Izuku before giving him a slip of paper with a number on it.
"That number will be the one the Commission uses to alert you. So, I recommend you enter that in as quickly as possible." David tells Izuku, who nods.
Hisashi pulls some money out of his wallet and gives it to Izuku before putting a hand on his back and leading him out the door.
"I know this is a lot to take in. So, use that money and go to your favorite restaurant to get your bearings on this all." Hisashi tells his son before letting Izuku out of the lab and closing the door.
Izuku looks at the door in uncertainty before doing what his dad tells him. On the other side of the door, Hisashi slides down the door with a relieved sigh.
"Are you sure about this, Hisashi?" David asks Hisashi.
Hisashi gives David a smile and nods.
"Yeah, I'm sure about this. I know what the risks are, but I think Izuku can handle them. Besides, it's not like he'll be the only one." Hisashi tells David with a smile.
"I still don't like how we're giving this device over to young people who haven't even completed their hero training yet," Samuel tells the other two while folding his arms.
Hisashi sighs.
"I know, Samuel, I know," Hisashi tells Samuel.
-------------------
Izuku is sitting at a table in the corner of a restaurant, looking at the devices in the briefcase he was given. Currently, Izuku is holding the Rabbit Power Coin and inspecting it while resting his head in his other hand.
As he's doing this, a waitress his age with long light brown hair and dark blue eyes comes over with a large bowl of pork cutlets and egg over rice.
"Here's your large bowl of katsudon, Midoriya. Enjoy." The waitress says with a smile as she sets the bowl down.
However, she notices the Hero Driver before she leaves, and her eyes sparkle with curiosity.
"Oh, what do you have there? A present from your father?" The girl asks with a smile as she inspects the items in the case.
Izuku looks startled when she asks that and looks towards her nervously.
"O-oh, y-yeah. Dad said it would help me become a hero in the future." Izuku says nervously.
The girl closes her eyes with a smile and releases a happy sigh.
"I'm so envious of you. Having a father that works in the hero industry to help you with your dream. That's something anyone would envy." The waitress tells Izuku as she picks up one of the last Power Coins and inspects it.
Izuku blushes at her words and quickly takes the Power Coin back from the girl while saying.
"I-I mean, your Quirk is amazing too, Suzuki. With it, you could become a better sniper than Snipe at some point." Izuku tells the girl with a light blush as he sets the Power Coin back in the case.
The waitress grins when he says that and pats him on the back.
"Thanks for that compliment. I'm planning to try out for Seiai University this year. Worse comes to worst; I have my family's restaurant to fall back on." The girl says while motioning around the restaurant for emphasis.
"W-well, it's always good to have a plan B," Izuku tells her.
The girl hums before nodding.
"True, well enjoy your usual," Suzuki tells him before leaving.
Izuku breaks apart some chopsticks and begins digging into his meal to take his mind off the hero driver and his father's words. However, a few minutes into his meal, he gets a text from the number David gave him. At the same time, someone in the restaurant shouts.
"Hey, turn up the TV!"
Suzuki grabs a TV remote and turns the volume up so everyone in the restaurant can hear the news broadcast.
"This is Aoi Hikaru on the scene of Aldera Cram School where one of the new types of villains that have plagued our country for over three years, known as a Nomu, is holding the people inside the school hostage." A female reporter with short pink and red duel tone hair explains inside a helicopter.
Behind the reporter is an aerial view of multiple pro heroes, including Deatharms, Kamui Woods, and Backdraft, fighting against the villain.
The villain in question can be best described as a Frankenstein monster, even in a world where people take on many different forms because of quirks.
The villain is tall and adequately bulky with dark green skin for their upper body and light grey skin for their lower body. Covering random parts of their body are pieces of dark grey armor, and on the joints are volcano-like holes. However, the most notable thing about them is that the top of their head was missing, exposing their brain for everyone to see above their red eyes.
Behind the Nomu is Aldera Cram School, which looks to be enclosed in some kind of sludge.
"Heroes are on the scene trying to stop the villain, whose been dubbed Swamp Nomu, and rescue everyone inside. However, they seem unable to do anything against the villain and the substance surrounding the building keeping the hostages trapped inside." The newswoman explains as Deatharms jumps in the air and tries to deliver a flying punch to Swamp Nomu.
Unfortunately, Swamp Nomu catches the fist with one hand, and the volcano-like hole on their elbow starts to produce sludge. The sludge wraps around Swamp Nomu's arm, and they launch it forward at Deatharms, sending him flying and sticking him onto a building with the swamp-like substance covering everything but his head.
Izuku watches this and grips the Rabbit Power Coin in his hand tightly in worry. He bites his lower lip while thinking.
"Can I really help defeat them? I don't have any training. Dad said the Hero Driver was made specifically for defeating nomu, though." Izuku thinks before looking at his Hero Driver and Power Coins.
As Izuku is lost in thought, words from his childhood flash into his mind.
"It's alright because I am here!"
Izuku clenches his hands tightly and makes up his mind.
"A hero is there to give people hope in times of despair. Dad's a genius. If he didn't think I could handle this, I wouldn't have been given the Hero Driver." Izuku resolutely thinks.
With that, Izuku grabs the suitcase and his Power Coins before running out of the restaurant and into an alley. He takes the Hero Driver out of the briefcase and puts it on his waist. A red belt shoots out of its sides and wraps around his waist. As it does, the Hero Driver speaks in a voice familiar to Izuku.
"Are you ready!?"
"Is that Present Mic's voice?" Izuku thinks in shock before shaking his head.
"No, bad Izuku, focus on the task at hand." He chastises himself before grabbing a Power Coin and setting it into the coin slot at the top of the hero driver.
"Rabbit + Quirkless, blank match." The Hero Driver shouts enthusiastically.
Izuku gulps nervously before turning the key on the side of the Hero Driver. After he does, the Hero Driver starts shouting.
"JUMP, JUMP, REACH FOR THE MOON, JUMPING RABBIT!"
Suddenly, glowing green particles start to surround a panicking Izuku and take the form of armor.
When the process finishes, Izuku has on a green full-body suit with black highlights on the sides of the upper arms and the legs. Over Izuku's chest and shoulders is a sleek silver chest plate with red highlights on the shoulders. Below the chest plate and above the Hero Driver, Izuku has two black rhombuses protruding from his sides and almost meeting in the middle. On his arms are black elbow pads, and he has beige gloves with blue stripes, the upper line breaking off into a rhombus shape on the back of his hand. On Izuku's legs are black leg guards that cover all but their upper legs with gaps in the middle of their tops and grey circular knee pads with three black dots in an upside-down triangle design. Under the leg guards, Izuku has red armored boots with black toes and sides and red soles. On the tips of the black toes are gold markings. Over Izuku's face is a green rabbit-like mask with green rabbit ears, a grey respirator with black lines over where Izuku's mouth would be, glaring red eyes with black highlights around them, and a black arrowhead going down the forehead.
"KAMEN RIDER DEKU!" The hero driver announces once the transformation finishes.
Izuku is examining his new look with sparkling eyes under the helmet.
"Woah, this is amazing. How did they manage this? Is it a nano-based technology that's released from the Hero Driver?" Izuku wonders before shaking his head to get back on track again.
"No, stay focused, Izuku. You need to save everyone and let them know you are here." He tells himself as he gets serious.
Izuku pulls out his phone and looks at the text the Hero Commission sent him. The text starts with an alert that a Nomu has appeared before showing a city map with two x marks. The first is a green one where Izuku is, while the other is a red mark where Aldera Cram School is.
After looking at it, Izuku looks in the direction of Aldera Cram School and then looks at his legs. He takes a breath before saying.
"Here we go."
To Izuku's shock, when he jumps, he flies off the ground onto the top of a building. Izuku takes a minute to collect himself before jumping again and again.
However, during one of these jumps, the Hero Driver's announcement finally hits him.
"Wait, did it call me Deku?" This change in thought process causes him to crash face-first onto a building.
Izuku sits up and looks at the Hero Driver in confusion.
"Why would it call me Deku?" Izuku rhetorically asks but gets an answer.
"Because it is the name most on your mind." The Hero Driver states, causing Izuku to gain a gloomy cloud over his head and mutter.
"Even when we're no longer going to the same school, he's still mocking me."
-------------------
Kamui Woods is swinging around the area, trying to avoid the blasts of sludge water that Swamp Nomu is launching at him. At the same time, Backdraft is attempting to wash the substance trapping Deatharms off so he can get back in the fight.
As the heroes fight, a crowd is watching behind barricades with worry.
"Hey, that guy is taking down most of the heroes in the area." Someone in the crowd mutters.
"Well, what do you expect? It's a Nomu. These guys have been showing up a lot in the past couple of years." Another person in the crowd explains.
A man who looks like a skeleton with skin hears this and tightens his hands in anger.
The man has slightly tan skin, long wild blond hair with two long strands in front of his forehead going down to his chest, and black eyes with light blue pupils.
He's wearing a white short-sleeve shirt, green pants wrapped by a black belt with a silver butterfly belt buckle, and brown shoes. His clothes look baggy on him due to his lack of muscle.
"Damn it. I used up my time already." The man thought to himself as he watched the fight go on.
Mt. Lady comes charging onto the scene in her giant form and attempts to stomp on Swamp Nomu. However, Swamp Nomu jumps out of the way, and she finds her foot stuck in the sludge they left behind to trap her.
"Grr, come on!" She growls in annoyance as she tries to pull her foot out.
It looks like Swamp Nomu is in complete control of the scene until people hear a shout.
"WATCH OUT!"
The crowd, heroes, and Nomu look up to see Kamen Rider Deku flying towards the scene head first on a collision course with Swamp Nomu. Swamp Nomu jumps out of the way in time, and Kamen Rider Deku causes a crater where he lands. Deku slowly stands up and shakes his head to get rid of the debris on him.
"Ow, sorry, I'm still getting used to this," Deku explains, but no one is sure who that apology is directed towards.
The skeletal man can tell that whoever is behind Deku's mask is young by his voice. He can't help but think to himself.
"You should get out of here while you can, young man. You're too young to be in this kind of fight." The man thought to himself.
"And who are you supposed to be?" Swamp Nomu grunts in a deep voice as he stares at Deku.
"O-oh, I-I'm Kamen Rider Deku." Deku tells the Nomu as he nervously looks at him.
Those words shock the skeletal man as he recognizes the name.
"Wait, this is the Project Kamen Rider that David's been working on?" The man wonders as he stares at the armored hero in a slightly different light.
"Hmph, I'll be nice and give you one chance. Leave now, or you will die." Swamp Nomu warns Deku while pointing at him.
Deku tightens his hands into fists and says in a resolute tone.
"A hero's job is to get in the way of a villain."
"Fine, I tried to be nice since you sound young, but I shouldn't have bothered." Swamp Nomu sighs before quickly raising his hand and shooting a stream of sludge at Deku for a surprise attack.
However, Deku felt him about to raise his arm through the ears on his helmet and managed to dodge his attack by jumping, landing on a lamppost.
"Woah, this suit is amazing. I could feel the attack coming even though it was supposed to be a surprise attack." Deku thinks in shock as he tries to regain his balance on the lamppost.
Swamp Nomu groans in annoyance after seeing how they dodge his surprise attack.
"Of course, this won't be easy for me. Why did I expect anything else?" Swamp Nomu mutters in annoyance as he takes Deku more seriously as an opponent.
"How do I activate my weapons?" Izuku wonders in his mind.
Suddenly, two weapons materialize in Izuku's hands from the Hero Driver.
The first one in Deku's left hand is a green and black gauntlet-like device that only covers the front of his fist as he grips a bar behind it with a light green symbol of Kamen Rider Deku's head on the knuckle end. On the back of it is a coin slot.
The second weapon in Deku's right hand is a black and silver mechanical katana with a gun hilt. On the grip of the blade is a trigger. On the other end of the gun barrel crossguard is a coin slot.
As these two weapons materialize, the Hero Driver shouts out.
"Mighty Knuckle! Power Blade!"
Deku looks at the weapons in shock when they materialize in his hands. He isn't the only one. Everyone else in the area is either shocked or shouting in excitement toward him.
"Woah, did you see that?" Someone asks.
"He made weapons appear out of nowhere!"
"Did you see how high he jumped too?"
"This guy is awesome."
"Come on, hero. You've got this!"
Swamp Nomu looks wary of the weapons but decides to forget about that for now. He throws another stream of sludge toward the masked hero to try and trap them.
However, Izuku already predicted that and dodged out of the way by jumping off the lamppost towards Swamp Nomu with the arm holding his gauntlet reeled back. He throws it forward, and it slams into Swamp Nomu's chest. The Mighty Knuckle seems to release a burst of force and send Swamp Nomu flying backward into a car.
"I-I did it. I just sent a nomu flying!" Izuku excitedly shouts in his mind as a little version of him dances inside of it victoriously.
"MY CAR!" Someone in the crowd shouts, and Izuku loses whatever proudness he felt earlier and looks towards the crowd.
"S-sorry!" He shouts why putting a hand behind his head in embarrassment.
Unfortunately, that hand is the one with his Mighty Knuckle, and he accidentally bonks himself in the head and crashes to the ground from the force.
"Ow." He mutters on the ground.
-------------------
Hisashi facepalmed when he saw his son hit himself in the back of the head with his weapon and muttered.
"Yep, he's definitely my son."
-------------------
Deku stands up in time to see Swamp Nomu pull himself out of the car and angrily glare at Deku.
"Okay, kid. You're dead." Swamp Nomu says as if he's stating a fact of life while emitting a lot of killing intent.
Deku gulps behind his helmet and holds his weapons before him defensively.
"Stay calm, Izuku. You can do this." Deku thinks to himself as he prepares for Swamp Nomu's next move.
Swamp Nomu charges Deku with sludge constantly shooting out of his joints and covering his body. However, the sludge on his body suddenly hardens until it looks as solid as metal, creating a suit of armor around the Nomu. Swamp Nomu attempts to use the momentum from his charge to deliver a powerful haymaker to Deku, but the Kamen Rider rolls out of the way to avoid it. Unfortunately for the Nomu, he couldn't slow his momentum immediately, giving Deku a chance to attack his back.
"Let's try this out." Deku thinks as he pulls out the Charge Power Coin and inserts it into the coin slot on the back of the pistol crossguard.
Glowing yellow lines start to appear along the weapon as the Hero Driver shouts.
"Rapid Power Bolt Finish!"
Izuku aims and pulls the trigger on his gun-sword, sending over dozens of lightning bolts flying out of the barrel toward Swamp Nomu like a machine gun.
However, Deku didn't get a clean hit on Swamp Nomu because of the armor protecting him.
"The substance covering him must not be conductive. And I doubt dad's Quirk will work since he can put the fire out." Deku thinks in shock as Swamp Nomu turns around.
"That tickled, kid. Do you have anything else you want to try?" Swamp Nomu asks in a slightly arrogant tone before charging at Deku again.
This time Swamp Nomu doesn't go for a haymaker. Instead, he stops as soon as he's in striking distance of Deku and begins to throw multiple punches to try and hit the Rider.
Deku uses his sword and the arm holding his Mighty Knuckle to block the attacks, but each punch is harder and heavier than it should be, thanks to the sludge armor covering Swamp Nomu, making them have more force behind them.
One of those punches blocked by Deku's arm has enough force to send the Kamen Rider flying and crashing into the ground.
"Ow, that hurt a lot. How am I supposed to beat him with that armor on?" Deku questions in his mind as he shakily starts to get up.
He didn't have time to think of a plan, though. Swamp Nomu attempts to stomp on his back to pin him down. Luckily Deku sees it coming, thanks to his suit, and manages to roll out of the way. Swamp Nomu doesn't give up. He pursues Deku and continues to attempt to hold him down. Deku continues to roll away to avoid Swamp Nomu's attempts.
"Hey, stop, please stop and let me get up," Deku says as he rolls out of the way.
The blond skeletal man flatly watches the scene before him while thinking.
"Who did they hire for the Kamen Rider program? They look like they haven't had a day of hero training before."
It takes a few seconds of this before Deku hits something, causing him to stop rolling while on his back. Before he can do anything, though. Swamp Nomu pins him down with his arm.
"Finally, now you're dead!" Swamp Nomu shouts as he throws a fist down to try and hit Deku.
However, as if by instinct, Deku uses his fist with the Mighty Knuckle on it to meet that punch and release another burst of force that breaks the armor on Swamp Nomu's arm and sends him flying back slightly. This gives Deku enough time to stand up again and look at the Mighty Knuckle in shock.
"Alright, this could work." Deku thought before looking at Swamp Nomu and charging at him.
Deku delivers a punch to Swamp Nomu's armored chest that causes Swamp Nomu to stagger back with cracks in his armor. Deku attempts to follow this up with a slash toward his unprotected arm, but it's blocked by a new coating of hardened sludge covering Swamp Nomu's arm.
Swamp Nomu parries the strike away, causing Deku to stagger back and be open for an attack. Swamp Nomu capitalizes on this and punches Deku in the face, sending Deku to the ground again. However, this time Deku isn't planning to stay down. He quickly slams his legs onto the ground, the force behind it causing him to do a backflip off the ground and land on his feet, albeit shakily.
This impresses the skeletal blond man and the heroes around the area attempting to free the hostages or their fellow heroes.
"Not a bad move. It seems like he's improving slightly as the battle goes on." The blond man thinks as he continues to watch the fight.
"Alright, that was good. I recovered before the Nomu could capitalize on me being on the ground." Deku thought with a smile behind his mask before inspecting his sword.
"The Power Blade can't break through the armor like the Mighty Knuckle can. There isn't enough force behind my strikes." Deku thought before noticing something about the blade.
It looks as if the blade and grip can switch positions. So they're facing the coin slot of the crossguard instead of the barrel. Deku holsters the Mighty Knuckle and tests this; sure enough, the gun muzzle is now facing behind the blade and trigger. Deku quickly re-equips his Mighty Knuckle and tests how well his offense will be this time.
Deku charges at Swamp Nomu, who is cautiously watching the hand with the Mighty Knuckle. However, Deku has already anticipated this and led with his Power Blade instead. He slashes at Swamp Nomu's side, but Swamp Nomu blocks. Like last time, the blade can't get past Swamp Nomu's sludge armor. This doesn't last when Deku pulls the trigger, though.
When Kamen Rider Deku pulls the trigger, the force behind the gunshots propels the blade forward, and it manages to cut through the armor and pierce Swamp Nomu's skin, albeit shallowly. That was enough, though. Swamp Nomu quickly attempts to back away from Deku when he feels the pain from the slash while holding his arm. Deku sees this and throws his left arm forward to land another hit with the Mighty Knuckle on Swamp Nomu's chest. The punch breaks Swamp Nomu's armor there and sends him flying to the ground.
Deku looks at the downed Swamp Nomu and holsters his Mighty Knuckle again. He then puts his hand to turn the Hero Driver's key, causing the Hero Driver to shout.
"RABBIT POWER FINISH!"
Suddenly the Mighty Knuckle and Power Blade disappear, and a green glow emits from Kamen Rider Deku's armor as glowing lines appear on it. Kamen Rider Deku gets into a ready position as his body seems to be charging.
Swamp Nomu starts to stand back up and sees this. When he does, he immediately goes.
"Fuck this! This wasn't worth the fucking pay! I was told this was going to be an easy job!"
Swamp Nomu turns around and attempts to run. Simultaneously, Kamen Rider Deku jumps forward and delivers a flying kick into the retreating Nomu's back. The attack causes the area around the two to explode.
Flying out of the explosion is a pile of sludge with eyes and teeth and Kamen Rider Deku. The living pile of goop splatters unceremoniously on the ground while Deku lands in a crouching position with legs spread out and an open left palm on the ground while the other is raised outwards behind him.
His Power Coin carrier opens up, and two blank Power Coins fly out, spin around the pile of living swamp water, and then return to Deku and hit him in the face.
Deku quickly shakes off the shock of the Power Coins hitting him in the face and picks them up to look at them. They're now the same bronze color as the other Power Coins with different images. The first looks like a swamp marsh, while the second has a cube image.
The crowd watching was stunned for only a few seconds before they started excitedly screaming toward the masked hero. Those who weren't taking pictures, videos, or live streaming before are now grabbing their phones to get an image of Kamen Rider Deku's epic pose. Comments were coming in on anyone watching the live streams, and the newscaster was excitedly shouting.
"Did you see that, folks? The mysterious masked hero has just defeated the Nomu! Who is this new rising star within the hero world? Well, I'm going to find out!"
After saying this, Hikaru jumps out of the helicopter, and a pair of wings appear out of her head to lessen her momentum and land gracefully on the ground. As she does this, a camera drone flies out of the helicopter and follows her down.
Hikaru runs up to the now-standing Deku and puts her microphone forward to the masked hero's face.
"Tell us, what should we call you?" Hikaru asks him excitedly.
Seeing Hikaru staring at him intently and the camera drone zeroing in on him made Deku nervous.
"O-oh, m-my name I-Izu- I mean, i-is K-Kamen Rider D-Deku." Deku nervously stutters out most of his sentence, almost revealing his identity.
-------------------
Hisashi lets out a sigh of relief from his lab.
-------------------
Hikaru turns to the camera drone and says.
"There you have it, ladies and gentlemen, the new rising star of the hero world go by the name Kamen Rider Deku."
Inside a dark laboratory sits a figure covered by darkness with only the outline of his round body, thick mustache, and large circular purple-tinted lens glasses. The figure is watching the broadcast before the TV shifts into static, and a different voice begins to talk on it.
"Have you seen the latest broadcast in Musutafu, Doctor?" A deep male voice asks.
"Yes, it was a rather impressive display. I wasn't expecting the Nomu to be defeated there so soon. Nor did I expect someone to figure out how to use multiple Quirks." The man hiding in the shadows tells the person hidden behind the static.
"Do you think you'll be able to replicate the technology used?" The man behind the static asks.
"Possibly. I'll get back to you after a few experiments or when I get my hands on one, Master." The man behind the shadows tells the one he's talking to.
"I look forward to your results, Doctor."

An explosion is released inside a young teen's room in their family's apartment.
"KNOCK IT OFF. YOU DAMN BRAT!" A woman shouts from in the apartment building, followed by.
"FUCK OFF. YOU DAMN HAG!"
A boy with light skin, red eyes, and wild ash blond hair that almost looks like an explosion sits in his room with an angry expression while looking at his now destroyed laptop that was showing the news broadcast.
His phone suddenly rings, and he picks it up.
"WHAT!" The blond angrily shouts.
"U-uh, hey, Bakugou. D-did you see the latest Nomu attack today? Do you think-" Another male teen says over the phone before getting cut off.
"Finish that sentence, and you are fucking dead." His tone didn't make it sound like a threat. No, it sounded like a fact.
"R-right, sorry, man." The teen says on the phone.
"That fucking Deku isn't the bastard behind the mask. He's a worthless quirkless Deku. Got it." Bakugou tells the teen on the phone in an aggressive tone.
"Y-yeah, o-okay." The teen says quickly before hanging up.
-------------------
On the roof of a building close to the sight of the Nomu, a teen the same age as Midoriya and Bakugou is watching Kamen Rider Deku.
The teen is lean with average height, messy black hair, light skin, and purple eyes.
He's wearing a dark grey jacket with black sleeve ends and two breast pockets over a light grey V-neck with blue jeans and black and white sneakers.
A red feather falls in front of his face, and he turns around to see a man in his early twenties with slightly tanned skin, gold eyes behind a rounded yellow visor, and long dark blond slicked-back hair with black headphones with yellow backs on the ear covers.
He wears a black form-fitting shirt with wavy yellow markings under a tan jacket with pouches on its sides and fur ends, tan baggy pants, black ankle-high boots with a dark grey line going down the middle of the front, and black gloves.
The most notable thing about him is the giant pair of red bird wings on his back.
"Hi, Hawks." The teen says in a bored tone before turning to watch Kamen Rider Deku.
"Your grandfather was worried when you snuck away from your bodyguards again, Hikage." The man says with a carefree smirk as he stands next to the teen and leans on the edge to watch Kamen Rider Deku jump away.
"I was curious what the other Quirkless boy was like," Hikage tells him with a shrug.
"So, what do you think of him?" Hawks asks the teen.
The teen shrugs and says.
"He seems okay. I think I'll be able to work with him."
Hawks pats him on the back with a grin and says.
"Glad to hear it. No point in being competitive about it." Hawks says with a laugh.

Hisashi is standing in front of a skyscraper building with a diamond symbol. In his hand is another suitcase like the one that holds his son's Hero Driver.
With a heavy sigh, Hisashi enters the building and is immediately met with a female blue-haired secretary holding a clipboard.
"We've been expecting you, Mr. Midoriya. Please follow me this way." The secretary states
Midoriya follows the secretary as she leads him to an officer on the top floor of the building. The plate on the door reads "Fumihito Hikage" on it. The secretary moves to the side and motions for Hisashi to enter.
Hisashi enters a spacious officer with a man sitting in a chair turned away from him towards the window.
"Enough with the dramatics, sir." The secretary flatly states as she enters behind Hisashi.
There was a loud sigh of annoyance as the person in the chair turned around to face Hisashi and the secretary.
Hisashi is met with the sight of a giant of a man with wrinkled light skin, combed grey hair, purple eyes behind square glasses, and a round nose.
The man is wearing a white suit and has a brown cane in his hands.
"You have to ruin my fun, don't you, Mirai?" The man says in a baritone voice.
"Yes." the secretary says in a matter-of-fact tone.
The man sighs before saying.
"Well, whatever."
He then looks at Hisashi.
"I hope you haven't tried anything with my grandson's Hero Driver, Midoriya." The man tells him with a slight glare as he looks at the suitcase in Hisashi's hand.
"Relax, I'm not going to be an ass and do anything like that. That is unless you try and reverse engineer this copy." Hisashi tells the giant man with a warning glare.
The giant man waves him off.
"Relax. I have no interest in trying to go behind your back on this. Besides, I'd prefer it if as few people here as possible could get their hands on one of these. While I'm trying to clean this place up, there is still plenty of corruption. The fact I was able to get us our own Kamen Rider will be enough to keep the others' mouths shut and keep my position safe." Fumihito explains to Hisashi.
"You sure your grandson will be safe with this?" Hisashi asks the man with a raised eyebrow.
"Don't worry about that. I take every precaution when it comes to my grandson's safety. The Hero Driver will be safe with him." Fumihito tells Hisashi.
Hisashi nods and sets down the suitcase holding the Hero Driver equipment before trying to leave. However, he's stopped by Fumihito.
"Just to be sure, these Power Coins work on people other than those Nomu, correct?" Fumihito asks Hisashi.
Hisashi turns his head and gives a slight nod.
"Perfect then," Fumihito tells him before motioning that Hisashi is allowed to leave.
Fumihito's secretary leaves with Hisashi to show him out, leaving Fumihito in his office. Fumihito looks at the case with the Hero Driver in it and says.
"Shiki can wait a little longer for his present. First, I need to make a stop."
