You can't breathe.
It's like all of the oxygen has been sucked out of the air, leaving it dry, brittle, sterile. Your lungs are burning, scratched like sandpaper. The backyard is spinning, like teenagers at a roller rink - all flashing lights and endless rotations.
You haven't taken your eyes off of Bucky, and he hasn't taken his eyes off of you. If you were thinking more logically, you'd probably realise that you've been staring at each other for too long, and it's starting to look a little suspicious. You don't care.
Your ears are ringing. It's like there's been an explosion, and you're scattered amongst the debris. Smoke, flames, rubble. A catastrophic detonation in your parents backyard.
A gentle hand on your shoulder snaps you back to reality. The music is still playing, everyone around the table is still conversing, the house still stands. No explosion here.
"Sweetheart?"
It's your Mom, clearly sensing your distress. She probably thinks you're upset with her, for telling Cora. You are, but that's not what's causing the pain in your chest.
"Come inside with me, baby girl. Let's get away from the noise for a second."
She grabs your hand and pulls you out of your chair, still none the wiser to the magnetism preventing you from breaking your gaze that's locked on Bucky's. She practically drags you inside, the cool air of the kitchen waking you up.
"Sweetheart, I am so, so sorry. Cora overheard the conversation we had earlier. I thought it was good news, so I didn't think to ask her to keep it private."
She looks like she's being eaten alive by guilt. Your bottom lip quivers, your eyes well up, and before you know it, there are warm, salty tears dripping down your cheeks.
"Hey, hey. What's the matter?"
You sit down on the tiled floor, back pressed against the cabinets. Curling your knees to your chest, you try to stifle your sobs.
"Everything's such a mess, Mama."
She drops to the ground, gathering you in her arms. She holds you as tight as she can, rubbing soothing circles into your back and whispering comforting words in your ear. Eventually, she pulls back to look at you.
"What's the matter, baby? I thought Stella's call was a good thing - that you'd be excited to go back to California."
You take a shaky breath before replying.
"It's just... I think - I don't, it's... it's so complicated."
She traces her fingers over your cheeks, your eyebrows, your nose. She dances her fingertips over your face, as if she's committing it to her mind forever. It brings back warm and cosy childhood memories of her doing the same thing to help you sleep. The two of you would snuggle up against all of your pillows in bed, tucked up and safe. She'd lie with you until she was sure you were dreaming, before kissing you on the forehead and sneaking out.
"Talk to me. We can figure it out. We always do."
"It's not that simple. I just... there's a lot going on, I guess. I thought it'd be an easy decision, but it isn't, and it's all I can think about, and it's eating me up because I'm so scared I'm gonna do the wrong thing -"
You cut yourself off with a sob, resting your head on your knees.
"I knew there was something bothering you, sweetheart. Why didn't you come and talk to us? Even if we can't fix it, we can listen."
"I thought I could handle it. I thought I could figure it out on my own."
"You don't ever have to carry stress like this on your own, baby girl. Ever. You hear me?"
You nod and lean into her, letting her rock you in her arms on the kitchen floor.
"I'm sorry again, about Cora. She means well, you know she does."
"I know. Doesn't feel like it sometimes, but I know."
A pause.
"Okay, sweetheart. What are we going to do now? Whatever you decide, we'll support you."
"Your Mom's right," your Dad says from the doorway. "Whatever you choose, we'll be right alongside you. No matter what."
He strides over to join the two of you on the floor, sandwiching you between him and your Mom.
"If you need help packing up and moving, we're here. If you need us to create an elaborate lie to tell Stella, we're here. Either way, you've got us."
You smile at him gently, leaning to rest your head on his shoulder. Regardless of what happens, you have two parents that love you more than anything in the world. That has to count for something.
"You wanna rejoin us outside, or are you too tired? No one will blame you if you go home."
"I think I'll go home," you murmur. "I don't wanna face any more questions for today."
"Bucky's just gone too. Said something about an early morning tomorrow."
You inhale shakily at the mention of his name. You know you'll have to face him sooner or later.
Your Dad stands and grabs your hands to help you to your feet, before doing the same to your Mom. They both hug you tightly before walking you out to the front door.
"Promise me you'll call if you need anything. Anything."
"I promise, Mama. Don't worry about me. I'll be okay."
"Do you want one of us to walk you home?"
"No, it's okay. I think I need the air."
"Love you, baby girl."
"Love you too. Both of you."

You're halfway home when you decide to turn around. You need to talk to Bucky.
It doesn't take you long to figure out where he is. You can feel in your chest that he's close by, that he hasn't strayed far. He hasn't gone home, though. The Universe is pulling you in the opposite direction.
The beach.
You spin on your heel and start walking down the road, picking up pace as you go. You can feel rain in the air, threatening to spill from the clouds at any given moment. Before you know it, you're running, sprinting along the sidewalk in the direction of your soulmate.
You get to the small boardwalk and look out over the sand. The sky is grey as concrete, cold and unforgiving. You spot a figure in a worn brown leather jacket by the shore, and you know instantly. It's him.
You march onto the beach with your shoes still on, wrapping your arms around yourself to act as a shield from the wind. You left your jacket at your parent's house, too eager to get out of there in a hurry. The rain is suspended in the air, never quite reaching the ground. You know it's only a matter of time before the heavens open.
"Bucky!" you yell, practically bounding across the sand. "Buck!"
He doesn't turn because he hears your voice. He turns because he suddenly feels like he can breathe, which he hasn't been able to do for the last hour. He knew you were there before you shouted his name.
"Bucky, please!"
He spins on his heel and stops walking, waiting for you to catch up with him. You're sprinting, panting as you reach him. The ocean waves crash against the shore, dangerously close to his boots.
"Buck, just let me explain," you choke out, trying to catch your breath.
You finally stop running and look at him. He looks broken. His hair looks like he's pulled his fingers through it repeatedly, tear tracks staining his cheeks, lips bitten red. You've never seen him upset like this. It's the worst thing you've ever witnessed.
"There's nothing to explain," he begins calmly, trying to keep a lid on his feelings.
"There is, Buck. There is. I... Cora overheard me confiding in my Mom, telling her about a call I'd gotten, from a classmate at culinary school. It was just an offer - I haven't accepted anything! I never meant for you to find out like this, I swear. It's all just... it's all so fucked up."
He looks at you in disbelief.
"No, you know what's fucked up?" he asks, raising his voice. "Finding out that my soulmate is moving across the country from some alcoholic suburban mom at a dinner party!"
You've never heard him yell before. You don't like it at all. You gather yourself before replying calmly, determined to keep you emotions under wraps.
"I've been trying to find a way to talk to you about it, but I didn't know where to start. How do I even begin to explain any of this?"
"Maybe, I don't know - 'hey, Buck, I got a call and I'm thinking of moving thousands of miles away for my dream job,' would be a good place to start?"
"It's more complicated than that. I was trying to protect you."
"Protect me from what?"
"From blowing your life up for me!"
You stare at each other for a minute, both of you unblinking.
"What are you talking about?" he croaks out.
"You'd drop everything for me, Bucky, and I can't let you do that. You've worked too damn hard to let it all go."
He's dumbfounded, for a moment. Not because he doesn't understand. No. He's realising that you're right.
"I knew that if I told you straight away, you'd have persuaded me to let you come with, and I would have said yes. And then you'd regret it, and you'd resent me, and we'd be over before we've even begun."
When he doesn't say anything, you continue.
"The thing is, Buck, the selfish part of me would have happily invited you along. Me and you, in California, running a bakery? That sounds like a fucking dream. But I have to listen to the other side of me, the selfless part. And that part is telling me that you have worked too damn hard for too damn long just for me to take that all away."
You feel droplets of water on your face, and for a moment, you wonder when you started to cry again. Then, in the deep distance, you hear a crack of thunder. The rain begins to pour, both of you caught in a storm in more ways than one.
"You don't get to make a decision like that for me!" he finally responds, yelling to be heard over the downpour. "We're supposed to talk about these things! To figure them out together! That's what soulmates are - we're a team!"
"I can't think rationally around you, Bucky! It's like all logic goes out the window. I'm just so overwhelmed with-"
You stop yourself before the word comes out, but you both know what you were about to say. He feels it in his ribcage, the surge of emotion from you.
"-with how I feel about you. You're my forever, Buck, and I feel like -" a sob wracks through you, shaking your frame. "-like I've fucked it all up already."
Your tears mix with the rainwater, trailing down your cheeks. You watch as Bucky fights with himself, internally battling his feelings.
"You're not the only one fucking it up," he chokes. "You repeatedly told me we had to take it slow, but I just... couldn't help myself. I've never felt for anyone what I feel for you, and being away from you for even a minute is fucking torture. I moved us too fast, and now look where we are. We've become the equivalent of a married couple in a couple of weeks. No one can handle change that sudden."
"It's not.. none of this is your fault, Buck. I kept something from you, something big. I know it doesn't matter now, but I want you to know how hard it's been to not tell you. It was killing me."
"I felt it," he murmurs shakily, willing himself not to cry. "In my chest. You were so torn up about something, and I just couldn't figure out what it was. I should have pushed you more, but I was worried I'd push you away."
Your lip trembles as you watch him bite his own anxiously.
"I'm so scared, Buck," you whisper. "I feel so lost and so confused and like nothing makes sense."
"Me too," he whispers back, eyes never leaving yours. "I'm fucking terrified. Our worlds have been turned upside down."
"Is it... is it supposed to be this hard? Everyone makes it sound so easy."
"I don't know. Maybe the Universe heard that we were anti-soulmate and decided to be super tough on us. Cosmic karma, or something."
You choke out a laugh through your tears. The rain has plastered your clothes to your body, the salty wind chilling you to the bone. Without thinking, Bucky takes off his jacket and wraps it around you, unable to watch you shiver any longer.
"What now?" you ask quietly. If he wasn't standing so close, he wouldn't have heard it.
"Let's get out of the storm," he suggests, nodding his head towards the path home. "We can talk some more somewhere warmer."
You sniffle and take a deep breath, willing yourself to get it together. Bucky surprises you by linking your hand with his, warm fingers intertwining around yours.
He doesn't let go the whole way home.
✵  ✵    · ✵    *  · ✵
Bucky takes you to his house.
You haven't been here since before your Tethering. You walk in the door, and your knees threaten to give way.
It's overwhelming.
Everywhere - everything - smells like Bucky. His scent clings to every fabric, every upholstery, every room. There's pictures scattered across the mantelpiece, his handsome face staring at you wherever you go. The house is warm, cosy, and just so Bucky it makes your heart ache.
You walk over to the fireplace, taking a closer look at the array of frames adorning it. There's one of your parents and Bucky smiling, sat out on his lawn last summer; another of Bucky and his team of mechanics, stood proudly outside his garage. A small black frame catches your eye. You pick it up, and your breath hitches in your chest.
It's a picture of the two of you on the deck of his boat, the day after you found out you were soulmates. The wind is blowing your hair, billowing your shirts, sun beating down on your skin. You're both beaming at the camera, bright and blinding, completely content.
You're holding back tears as you put it back in it's original place.
"My favourite picture," he murmurs from somewhere behind you. "We look happy."
"We were happy," you whisper. Then, quieter, "We will be again."
A pause.
"You want something to drink? Coffee, cocoa? Oh, I have that tea you like, the apple one?"
"You do?"
"Yeah. I, uh, bought some last time I went grocery shopping. In case you stopped by."
"Tea sounds good. Please."
You stay stood in the middle of the living room while Bucky puts the kettle on the stove, worried that your wet clothes will ruin his couch. As if he's read your mind, he pops his head around the door.
"There's a load of fresh clothes folded on top of the dryer. Grab whatever you want, dry off a little."
You wander into the laundry room, sorting through the pile. You find a t shirt with his garage logo on the back in big, white letters.
J.B.B. Motorcycles and Automotives.
The blocky, bold font swirls across the black material. You run your fingers over it, tracing the curves and spikes of the typeface. It's something you've seen him in a million times. You inhale deeply as you slip it over your head, revelling in the way it smells like him. You grab some boxer shorts and slip those on too, glad to finally be warm and dry.
Bucky loses his breath when you walk into the room. He's never seen you in his clothes before, and for good reason. He's about to have a goddamn heart attack.
"Tea is on the coffee table," he chokes out. "I'm gonna change, and then we'll talk, yeah?"
You nod gently, settling into the cushions of his couch and tucking your legs underneath you, mug warming your hands.
When Bucky returns, he's in sweatpants and an oversized hoodie that you want to burrow yourself into. He takes his place, careful to put a little distance between you. Far enough that you're not touching, but close enough that you almost are.
"I'm sorry," you whisper. "I'm not good at this."
"Neither am I," he smiles gently. "It's my first time having a soulmate."
"Mine too," you laugh softly.
It floors you, his ability to always be able to comfort you. It's like a superpower, the way he always knows what to say or do to put you at ease.
"I think we got a little ahead of ourselves," he begins, careful to keep his voice low and deliberate. "I keep forgetting that we have forever. Literally. I was so eager to rush into this with you because I got excited. Don't get me wrong, I'm still ridiculously excited, but I'm realising now that our version of 'slow' wasn't slow at all."
"This whole Tethering thing makes everything so intense. There have been times where I honestly thought I was going to drop dead if you didn't kiss me."
"The feelings mutual," he chuckles.
You lace your fingers with his, never breaking eye contact, before addressing the elephant in the room.
"What am I gonna do about California, Buck?"
Your voice cracks just saying the word.
"Stella needs an answer, and I've upset you, and my parents are clueless, and I just - I don't know what to do. Tell me what to do. Please."
"I can't tell you what to do, honey," he soothes, running his thumb over the back of your hand. "And I'm not upset. I was, in the backyard... but I was mainly just blindsided. I kinda get it, you not telling me. I'm not sure what I'd do in your situation either."
"I just feel like both decisions are wrong. I can't win."
"Hey, hey. Look at me, pretty baby."
Bucky cradles your face in his warm hands, forcing your eyes to meet his ocean blue ones. You have to focus on his words, so you don't get lost in the waves of his irises.
"At the end of the day, it's completely your decision, and no one in the world can change that. But-"
He takes a deep breath, and continues.
"I think that you'll regret it every day for the rest of your life if you don't take the incredible opportunity that's been offered to you."
You take a second to process what he's telling you, your mind running at a thousand miles an hour.
"Are you... you're... are you saying I should take the job?"
"Like I said, it's your decision, but... yes. I'm saying you should take the job."
Your eyes well with tears, and you bite your lip to stop them from escaping. Inhaling carefully, you put your hands on his chest, feeling his steady heartbeat under your palms. He's calm. He's sure. He's collected enough for the both of you.
"What about us?" you ask, barely above a whisper.
"Like you said, baby. I'm your forever." Buck leans in, resting his forehead to yours. "We have time."
"All the time in the world."
You connect your lips to Bucky's softly, testing the waters. He kisses you back with so much feeling, tears slip from your lashes without warning. He's crying too, emotion mixing with yours, dousing you both.
You pull away and wrap your arms around him, curling yourself into his chest. He holds you as tightly as he can, knowing this will be the last time for a long time.
"So you'll go."
"I'll go."
"And I'll stay."
"You'll stay."
"And we'll be okay. No matter what, we'll be okay."
You and Bucky fall asleep in each others arms, cherishing the feeling of home one last time.
✵  ✵    · ✵    *  · ✵
The happiness is starting to seep through.
You're devastated to be leaving Bucky behind, but you're trying to look on the bright side. Sunny beaches, new people, your dream job. If you think about the positives for long enough, the Bucky sized hole in your chest hurts a little less.
You're packing up your bookshelf when your phone rings, scaring the life out of you.
"Bitch!"
You know who it is instantly.
"Hi, Lacie."
"Where have you been? Why didn't you answer my text from last night?"
"Shit, sorry. I've been packing. What's up?"
"We're going out tonight. Not just us - all the girls. We're throwing you a goodbye party!"
You groan inwardly, massaging your temples with your fingers.
"A party? Lace, I don't need a party."
"Babe, you do. You really do. It'll be fun! I thought you'd be excited!"
You take a deep breath, and remember what you've been telling yourself. Focus on the positives.
"Okay, fine. Where? What time? What should I wear?"
"I knew you'd say yes! Come to my place at like... six? We can get ready together, like old times! And wear something sexy."
She doesn't wait for you to argue, just hangs up the phone. She knows you too well.
You know it'll be good for you, to see your girlfriends - but the thought of all the goodbyes you're about to say breaks your heart a little more.
✵  ✵    · ✵    *  · ✵
"Okay, what the fuck is going on with you?"
You're sat cross legged on Lacie's living room floor, sharing makeup that's scattered across the coffee table. You sip your wine for a moment, trying to come up with an excuse. It's no use.
"I don't know."
"Bullshit."
You turn to look at her.
"What?"
"It's bullshit, babe. Something's going on. You've been given your dream job, and you're moping around like you just got broken up with or something. Why aren't you happy?"
There's no malice in her voice, just pure love. She adores you. You adore her. She's the one person with an outsiders perspective on all of this. So, you cut the act.
"I had my Tethering."
Silence.
She's processing.
"What?!"
"Yeah."
"When? Who? Where? How? Oh my God what is happening? Why didn't you say anything? Fuck, I'm gonna cry. I'm so overwhelmed right now, I'm so happy for you! Wait... are we not happy?"
"It's... complicated."
There's a lump in your throat, but a levity in your heart. A weight has been taken off you. Telling someone the truth has made you feel a little lighter.
"Who is it, babe?"
You take a deep breath, and look her in the eyes.
"Bucky."
Her jaw drops.
"Your... your Dad's best friend Bucky?"
"That's the one."
"Oh. My. Fucking. God."
"Yeah."
"Holy shit."
"Yeah."
"This is complicated."
"Yeah."
"Aw, babe."
She pulls you in for a hug, not caring about the makeup you're smearing across her shirt. You cling to her as tightly as you can, savouring your best friends comfort.
"Does anyone else know?"
"No. We decided not to tell my parents for a while."
"Shit. No wonder you've been so sad lately. You're moving across the country, away from the one person you're supposed to be near."
"It's really hard," you whisper, tears threatening to spill.
"I can't even begin to imagine," she murmurs, holding you close. "I wish you'd told me sooner. We could have talked about it."
"I know," you sniffle. "I thought I could handle it on my own, but I really can't."
"You're not on your own, okay? You have Bucky, and you have me. You can always talk to me about this stuff. God knows I talked your ear off about Cameron."
You laugh softly, thinking back to that day that feels both like yesterday and a million years ago.
"Where is he tonight?"
"Out with his boys. It's good for us to spend a few hours apart."
You smile at the happiness that's radiating off her. She's glowing, beaming in all directions.
"Thanks, Lace. I love you. You know that right?"
"Of course I do. I love you too. So much," she leans forward to kiss your cheek. "Now let's have one hell of a last girls night, shall we?"
✵  ✵    · ✵    *  · ✵
You've lost track of exactly where you are.
You know you're downtown somewhere, in one of the bars. This one smells like wood and whiskey, lowlit and smoky. You hit the cocktail bar first, then the one covered in leopard print, then the monochrome pink one. Now, you're here.
The six of you are sat at a booth, high heels tangled and legs intertwined under the table. The wood is sticky with lemon wedges from tequila shots, salt scattered across the surface.
"If you find any hot west coast men, will you send them my way?" Reese asks, nudging you with her shoulder.
"And if you find any hot west coast women, will you send them mine?"
Everyone laughs, the scent of perfume filling the air.
"Rosa, what happened to Aubrey? We liked her!"
"Caught her kissing my ex girlfriend. So now they're both my ex girlfriends."
"Jesus Christ."
"Man, that's rough," Lacie giggles next to you.
The other girls continue to talk about Aubrey's infidelity as Lacie leans to whisper in your ear.
"Have you said goodbye to Bucky yet?"
You nod.
"Yesterday. I stayed the night, we fell asleep together. Said our goodbyes in the morning. It was awful."
"Love you," she whispers, squeezing your hand under the table.
"Love you too," you reply, squeezing back.
"There's a table of super hot guys over there," Maggie observes, tilting her head in their direction. "Maybe we should conveniently dance that way in a little while."
You don't bother to look over, knowing that none of them will compare to your soulmate. The other girls seem interested, though, so you smile along with them.
"Babe," Sam hisses, kicking you under the table. "There's a hot guy at that table, three o'clock, that keeps staring at you."
You glance over, and your heart stutters in your chest.
Bucky.
His blue eyes pierce your soul, even from across the room. For a moment, it's only the two of you, all the noise forgotten.
You're snapped back to reality by Sam.
"Fuck, he's hot. If you don't want him, I do."
"You should talk to him," Lacie suggests quickly. "Why not, right?"
She's practically pushing you out of the booth, high school wrestler style. In another life, you think, she would have made a good football player. All five foot four of her.
You walk past his table, eyes still locked on him, and towards the bathrooms. You know he'll follow you. You walk to the end of the hallway and out of the door, into the fresh night air.
You feel him appear before you see him. You lean your body against the wall, head resting on the cold brick. Bucky stands in front of you, shirt stretched across his shoulders gorgeously.
"Hi."
"Hi, honey baby."
You smile softly at the nickname.
"What are you doing here?"
"I got dragged to a boys night. What are you doing here?"
"I got dragged to a girls night."
He laughs, and all the tension melts from your muscles.
"Thought we said our goodbyes. I didn't think I'd see you again before I left."
"Me too. But you know the Universe. It hates us."
"Cosmic karma," you whisper.
The two of you stand down the alleyway, looking at each other carefully. Neither of you wants to spook the other person. You'd processed your leaving, said your emotional goodbyes. And now he's here, standing in front of you. You don't want to have to do it all again.
"I should probably get back inside, before the girls get the wrong idea."
"Baby, I followed you to the bathroom. They've already got the wrong idea."
You chuckle, kicking at a rock on the ground.
"Yeah. I don't know how I'm gonna explain this."
A smile. A pause.
"I'll let you get back to your friends, then."
You lean up to press a kiss to his stubbled cheek.
"Bye, Buck."
"Bye, pretty girl."
You push off the wall and walk away towards the door. Suddenly, a warm hand wraps around your wrist, yanking you into a solid chest.
Bucky kisses you like a man possessed. There's nothing gentle about it - just pure, unadulterated passion. It's all teeth and tongue and nipping and biting, neither of you willing to be the first to pull away.
He walks you back into the wall, pushing you against the rough brick. You hike a leg up onto his hip as he grabs your thigh to pull you closer, desperate to feel all of you. Your hands are in his hair, around his neck, tangled in his collar, his shirt, his belt loops. Anything you can get your hands on, you grab.
A distant chorus of cheers break you out of your lust fuelled haze. A bachelorette party walks by, one of the women winking at you as they go. You and Bucky take a step away from each other, straightening out your clothes and fixing your hair.
"Promise me you'll call me if you need anything," Bucky murmurs, leaning to rest his forehead on yours.
"I promise," you whisper, almost against his lips. "Goodbye, Bucky."
"Goodbye, honey girl."
✵  ✵    · ✵    *  · ✵
The salty ocean wind whips through your hair, sun beating down onto your skin, some upbeat pop song humming from the radio. You keep your eyes glued to the road in front of you, begging yourself not to look back. You know if you do, you'll turn the car around and run straight back into Bucky's arms.
Let the happiness seep through, you remind yourself, gripping the steering wheel.
Let the happiness seep through.

AITA for sending my friend $100 as a wedding gift
(She used to use Tumblr but deleted her blog years ago so I feel comfortable sharing this.)
My (28 NB) best friend T (26 F) got married sometime within the last year or so. We had known each other for about 8 years at this point after meeting online and sort of dated on and off for about 4 of those years. We loved each other very much, I even flew out to meet her in person, but the distance got to be too much for her and I understood that and we still stayed close friends. We helped each other through bad breakups with toxic friends and lovers, and when she told me she met someone (G, 24 M) and things were getting super serious with him I couldn't have been happier for her.
The thing is though, G has always been jealous of how close T and I were. T had been upfront with him that I was an ex and that we've been romantically and physically involved in the past, but we had both assured him that nothing was going on between us anymore and that we had both moved on. But that didn't stop G from constantly thinking I was going to try to steal T away from him despite living half way across the country (I was on the west coast and T and G live in the south).
About 2 years ago, my family started making plans to move to around the same area they live in. Not super close but a day's trip, think LA to Vegas. I wasn't thrilled about the move but it was cheaper and my grandmother lives out here and she needed our help, so I did my best not to object too much to it. Besides, I figured this way I was closer to T and that I could finally meet G face to face, hopefully to settle this bad blood he seemed to think was between us and help him realize that I wasn't going to try to steal T away from him. Especially since by this time G had already proposed. Around this time though, T had told G that she had send me some rather revealing photos showing off some new body mods she had gotten, purely out of excitement. I hadn't asked to see them, she offered and said it should be fine, and well, turns out it wasn't. G got pissed and almost called off their wedding. They stayed together though and worked through it, and then a few months later T disappeared on me. Stopped responding to my messages, blocked my phone number, everything. I was already at a low point in my life because of the move and this made me get lower. After the move I got drunk one night and realized that T hadn't blocked me on Twitter so I ended up messaging her, and she got back to me immediately and explained that G had told her that if she didn't cut contact with me then he was going to leave her because he didn't think I had ever actually gotten over her and that I was going to try to steal her from him. I was hurt but I understood, especially since T was at a point where if G left her she'd have to go back to a very toxic living situation. I told her I still considered her my best friend, she still considered me hers, and that was the last time I talked to her.
Now, here's the part where I might be the asshole. Last November I was checking my Venmo to make sure my info was up to date and I realized that I still had T on there to send money to. Not only that, but T had changed her last name to G's, meaning that they must have gotten married by now. So, I decided to send them $100 as a late wedding gift. T is still my friend and I was happy for them, and I didn't mean anything bad by it, but for the last two months I've been worried that G would be upset and that it would have opened up years old wounds.
TLDR; My friend's new husband doesn't trust me and wanted her to stop talking to me, and in response I sent them $100 and a congratulations, AITA?
What are these acronyms?

Since you haven't yet, could you please tell us your thoughts about the recent interview with Ai? After all, it seems to reveal a lot of interesting things about her.
For those who haven't read it yet, this is referring to the four-page in character interview with Ai that was published in the January 2024 issue of Da Vinci magazine!
Off the bat, it was really interesting to get such a direct and length look at Ai's public persona as it exists in OnK. Ironically enough, despite so much of the series being about people who are unable to get past her 'Ai of B-Komachi' mask, we actually don't get a ton of time spent with it as readers — we mostly see Ai in her private life, with Saitou, Miyako and the twins, where she is considerably more unfiltered and explicitly not on the job and we even get peeks directly into her POV from our perspective as out-of-universe observers. In fact, apart from the Da Vinci interview, the only other time we see Ai 'on the job' to this degree is a really quick exchange she has with a TV presenter just before her first post-hiatus performance. So it was really interesting to chew on!
The thing that stands out to me most from the interview is kind of a confirmation of something I've been saying for a long time — which is that Ai is a lot more honest than a lot of people (both in universe and in the fandom!) give her credit for. A lot of her answers are surprisingly frank and in line with what we know to be her true feelings and her more honest way of expressing herself elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, she's absolutely full of shit in plenty of spots here (EL OH EL ABOUT B-KOMACHI'S 'IRREPLACEABLE BOND') and her answers are still very polished and pretty, but there's a lot more of Ai herself here than I think even she herself would want to acknowledge.
This matches up with how Ai describes herself in 45510 — that, even though she's afraid of opening up, she does want people to know her as she really is and to accept her as such. It's interesting to see that expressed, even indirectly, through the interview like this.
It was also super cool to see a lot of my more incidental headcanons/personal interpretations confirmed! In particular, seeing Ai talk about Kana so warmly got me really excited. I'd always liked to imagine that she felt pretty fondly towards Kana and that she admired her hard work and dedication at such a young age so seeing Ai talking about her so effusively was really cute.
Less sweet was the confirmation that Ai's shitty home life in Ayumi's house stretched way back prior to Ayumi beginning to physically abuse her. Reading Ai calling herself a 'nasty brat' (almost definitely her mom's words) and then talking about her feeling so unwelcome at home that she'd sneak out of the house in the dead of night and wander around near the traintracks, daydreaming about being able to run away… it pains a really horrible image of what growing up in that house must have been like.
Speaking of parents, though… uh, wow, holy shit, Ai's dad! This is the only direct mention of him we've ever gotten and it definitely raises more questions than it answers. Prior to this, he'd been such a non-entity in Ai's life that I just kind of assumed he'd either passed away when she was very young or that he'd never been involved in her life — Ayumi is consistently referred to as her only parent to the point that, once she's out of the picture, Ai's only other option for stable family is, specifically, her mother's relatives. The idea of Ai being cared for by her dad or his side of the family is just never addressed as a possibility, so it's clear that past a certain point he was unable or unwilling to care for her.
The Da Vinci interview does imply she saw him occasionally — she describes their shopping trips as something that 'didn't happen often' — which supports the idea that he and Ayumi divorced or separated when Ai was quite young and he wasn't really involved in her life. It's honestly kind of depressing that he's the center of her happy childhood memory because like… man, it really says something about how abjectly unrelentingly dogshit her life was that "my dad sometimes took me to the grocery store" was happy enough in comparison to everything else in her life that she thought of it as a cherished memory.
Overall, the Da Vinci interview was a really nice surprise! We don't really get a lot of additional info about Ai from that time period specifically — a lot of the new reveals about her as a character tend to come from periods of her life prior to the timeline of the story, so getting a little extra peek into her final days really was a treat.

also i have this that i never finished but the splatfest is over so i doubt i ever will now LOL
“You lip-synch, we drip ink!”
“Ay! (It’s Shiver, Frye, and Big Man!)”
“Aren’t they so cute? Takes me back to when we used to do Inkopolis News,” Callie giggles as Marie settles next to her on the couch.
“I dunno, I think we were way cooler,” Marie says, but she’s smiling into her coffee mug. Deep Cut’s voices sound out from the TV.
“What’s got you so excited, Big Man?”
“Ay, ay! (It’s Splatfest time!)”
“Oooh!! What’s the theme, what’s the theme?”
Deep Cut’s anticipation is contagious as they wait for the theme to be revealed. Callie finds herself leaning forward in her seat.
"What do you think it'll be this time?" Marie muses.
"I dunno, but whatever it is I bet it'll be tons of fun as always!"
Frye makes a drum roll sound as the results come up on screen. "Bam!"
Marie chokes on her coffee. Callie pats her back as she goes into a coughing fit.
Frye jumps in surprise. "The theme is…! Uh, what?"
Shiver looks caught off guard for a moment before continuing seamlessly. "Who would make the best leader? Shiver, Frye, or Big Man! Quite the interesting theme!"
"Obviously it's me, I mean, look at me! I'm adorable! And I'm super strong and an awesome dancer," Frye pumps her fists in the air.
Shiver flutters their fan. "That's great, Frye, but I'm the obvious choice for this one. My vocals are unmatched, and I'm graceful and cool and I literally ride a giant shark. What's not to love?"
"Yeah, but who always gets us out of trouble during raids? I always come up with the best escape pla-"
"Ay… Ay! (Frye, we're not supposed to talk about that on TV… But anyway, I'm the best leader! I'm always the one looking out for you guys. Vote for me!)"
The Splatcast fades into background noise as Callie and Marie sit dumbfounded. Marie can't will her hands to stop shaking.
"This Splatfest…"
"It's going to be so much fun! Right?" Callie smiles widely.
"No! It's not!" Marie's brow creases so deep her manager would scold her about wrinkles, but right now she can't bring herself to care. "Cal, they're gonna- This splatfest is gonna hurt them."
"That's not gonna happen and you know it." Callie holds her cousin by the shoulders and smiles in that disarming way she's perfected for years. "This is not the same as last time. Everything is gonna be alright, okay?"
Her voice cracks embarrassingly, so Marie clears her throat. Her voice is smaller than she intends when she asks, "Are you sure?"
The grip on her shoulder tightens, but only so briefly that she thinks she might have imagined it, before Callie's hands pull away. "Deep Cut can hold their own, trust me. It'll take some sort of world-shattering event to tear those three apart. Like a pineapple-tomato-pizza splatfest or something!"
Marie laughs despite herself. "I think this theme is pretty world-shattering though."
She sighs and slumps back onto the couch. She searches Callie's face but all she finds is unwavering confidence. She hasn't stopped smiling, sitting casually on her hands.
It doesn't seem necessary, but she'd rather not make the same mistake twice.
"You okay too, Cal?"
Callie looks at the buildings outside. "Yep! All good."
Finally, she looks back at Marie. "I promise, Deep Cut will not end up running away and getting hypnotized," she says with a chuckle. "Even if they look really good with shades."
Marie huffs and flicks her on the arm, earning her a pained giggle from Callie. "Good. They better not." Then, more quietly, she mumbles, "I wouldn't wish that on anybody."

I'm literally so excited for this plot, I think Colin is going to show Pen how wonderful she is, and she's going to take it and run with it, becoming more confident than she'd ever hoped to be, leaving Colin in the dust. I was never a huge fan of the book plot, and I think the book wouldn't have enough to it for a TV adaptation. I honestly think they are saving the Whistledown reveal for a later season (maybe selfishly because I love Julie Andrews and don't want her to leave lmao), so adding in the whole Colin as a wingman thing will add more drama (and probably be super funny as well? I really want them to let Nicola be funny, I ADORE her in Derry Girls)
IDK i just think the general vibes will still be there, and they can add in the specific memorable scenes/lines from the book that we want (my preference in order 1. CARRIAGE RIDE 2. Marriage proposal confusion 3. "A kiss is for two people" 4. "Stay" 5. MIRROR although it's not in the book, just implied but GIMME)
I am worried they'll make it too much about Colin being the one to boost her up, like I want it to be a teeny tiny push and then BAM beautiful confident amazing Pen, the envy of all, independent and looking for a way to live her life and keep her business going without restraints. And I want it to still be about how they both are the only ones who really saw each other from the beginning when they were both invisible. I have faith it will be done right, and I'm excited

Hi, i just read your work, how would chamber, sova, cypher would celebrate their s/o's birthday, i really like it, could you do it again but with jett, neon, yoru? Sfw and nsfw aswell, it's okay if you can't, thx in advance :>
hey!! so glad you like my work. thank you for the ask! i hope this is to your liking. :)
Happy Birthday!
Jett, Neon, and Yoru celebrating their s/o (reader)'s birthday.
cw: suggestive nsfw at some parts (not seperated from sfw!) read at your own risk
Tumblr media
Jett
wakes you up super early by shaking you nonstop
"wake up, sleepy head! it's your birthday!"
would be so much more excited than you, not that you mind. she makes your day feel special
made breakfast for you with the help of sage: a small tower of pancakes and various toppings and syrups
enthusiastically pulls your chair for you to sit on. what a lady<3
she would 99% lick some stray whipped cream or chocolate syrup from your lips. and in that 1% she'd just make out with you right then and there
for your actual birthday present from her, she takes you to the mall!
she'll drag you to different places in there with a huge grin on her face while making sure that you're having fun too
first place, bowling. the two of you would compete against each other, her laughing whenever your ball hits the gutter and you losing your shit when she slipped
second place, laser tag. some teen boy was celebrating their birthday in that place, too. the two of you absolutely rocked him and his friends' shit by shooting and eliminating them every time
would sneakily pull you to the darkest spot in the 'arena' and make out with you for a good minute
would whisper a, "happy birthday, pretty." with a cheeky smile on her face
the two of you would get kicked out when caught by the boy's mom while making out </3 it was worth it though
last place, kareoke room!
with korean meat, beer, and soda.
singing then stopping as she asks you to dance to the instrumental background of an upbeat song
the two of you would sing your shits out loud then sing a soft duet immediately afterー bad idea. your throats were sore as hell trying to sing the song Only by leehi
Jett's attempt at hitting the song's high notes were far from pretty, but you looked pretty when you laughed at it. that was enough for her.
Neon
Tumblr media
she'd wake up a few minutes before you and takes a moment to appreciate your resting beauty
pulls you closer by the waist once you wake up. "morning, birthday babe," she'd say.
once you're both fully awake, neon would get up and play a soft song on the speaker, asking you to share a slow dance with her
the two of you would dance in your pajamas, low whispers, giggles, and soft content sighs falling from both of your lips
kisses your neck and asks you to bathe with her when the song ends, saying it's to get ready for the day ahead of you
neon would put her hair down and wear a dress that matches your outfit
would voice out that she hates couple things but would be the one to suggest it to you
she'd bring you to a gorgeous field and have a picnic with you there.
settling down, you'd admire the place with awe very obvious in your eyes while she does the same, but with you
her bringing her country's specialties, along with your favorites and a few bottles of alcohol
the two of you would talk about everything that your minds can think of, satisfaction blooming in both of your chests
she'd pick a small flower from the field and tuck them behind your ear, muttering a small, "you look good." before looking away
reveals a matching bracelet with you, one that can stand her radianite powers and that's to your liking
as the sun begins to set, she'd be much closer to you now, asking for kisses from you
she would kiss parts of your face while murmuring why she loves that certain part
by the time it was the golden hour, she was now laying on top of you while you lay your back on the picnic mat, your food long gone, and the wind softly moving the field.
sighs and soft groans exchanged as the two of you make out and do more under the setting sun
Yoru
Tumblr media
would greet you the second the clock turns 12AM.
"hey. happy birthday, stupid." he'd smile teasingly, holding your wrist and pulling it before he kisses you
the moment you wake up, his lips are already on your neck, marking you with a smug smirk on his face.
hot, open-mouth kisses are his thing i'm ngl
mf wants everyone to know that you're his on your birthday.. not that you mind
the two of you would lay with each other all morning 'til afternoon, being so comfortable with each other's presence that it was already evening
he'd then ask you to take a bath because, and i quote, "you smell like shit. and we need to go somewhere, so hurry up." he was lying at the first part, and you know. rolling your eyes, you'd just take your towel and bathe
the moment you finish, he'd be waiting for you while wearing a fancy suit that shows his gorgeous muscles from underneath. you'd raise an eyebrow at him for the showiness of the suit but he'd only say "they got my size wrong" as an excuseー but really, he just wanted to feel your stare on him for a second while longer.
would appoach you with clothes that matches him, then sits on the bed, waiting for you to get changed
you'd tell him to get out but he said that he'd close his eyes, dramatically covering them with his hands. spoiler alert: he took them off of his face the moment you turned around and started changing, an amused grin on his face
aaaaanyway, he would take you oh a motorcycle ride.
yoru would purposely speed up for a moment just to make you hug and hold him tighter
he would laugh loudly when he hears your screams and complains
finally reaching your destination, he'd park somewhere near and remove your helmet for you, then pecks your lips for a quick moment
the place that he took you to was beautifulー a perfect view for the night sky to complimenting and making the city lights shine from a famous tour spot that yoru took you to.
"happy birthday, sweets."
you turned your head to him, and he was holding out an earbud while the other one rests on his ear.
the two of you would listen to the song in silence, but he'd hold your jaw and make you look at him, then he'd close your eyes and slowly lean to your face to kiss you when the second chorus of the song hits
was not really in the mood to write anything spicy, forgive me. i hope you enjoyed this! and belated/advanced happy birthday to whoever's reading.

OKAY I GET THIS PLACE NOW. I barely understand it... Please. Anyways. Random Vanessa headcanons. She played soccer when she was younger, eventually dropping it. But it did lead to some... Awakenings. Like all high school sports. Dropped it once she got older, but still convinced she could go pro. Already semi canon. She wanted to be an emt. It was in some ways to spite her dad. Became a cop because it 'just felt like the next step' and has been on the force ever since. Her father has used it against her now. People on the force make her super uncomfortable. Only has one or two coworkers she actually likes. She struggles with the idea of the whole 'cops bad' thing. Has considered. Worked a cushy office job for awhile. Also absolutely hated the way the men there treated her as well. She has a sort of 'cop switch'. Just like in the movie novelization. It's a trauma response. She doesn't even realize she does it. Her eyes darken. Her face goes blank. She tends to ramble, at a really fast speed. Also like in the novel. She does it when she's nervous, or when she's super excited. Wears very little makeup. She's actually pretty good at it. She just doesn't do it often. She likes feeling pretty however. When she gets depressed, she tries to pretty herself up. The rainbow streaks when she was still doing emt work. She stopped touching them up once she got in the force. Dresses super conservatively. The most revealing thing she'd be willing to be seen in is a tank top and shorts. Even then that amount of shoulder and leg scares her. A little bit of an internalized misogyny on her end. As well as slight body issues. But she's slowly getting better. Kind of. William had a side job where he'd worked with old tech at a thrift shop. Mainly fixing up things and scrapping them for parts of some kind. I like to think she picked up a lot of knowledge about retro tech because of him. She'd have a love of old disney animatronics because of it. A creative, just like her father. She loves painting. She mainly sketches things out in between calls. Good with kids. Ironically enough. She's had a few times she'd have to do calls regarding abusive parents, and they break her heart more than anything else. She still thinks about them.

Bonus review: Migration! The episode where Luka knowing the identities is finally acknowledged in the most disappointing way possible.
We start the episode with my SO being shocked that Luka knows. In his defense, Wishmaker aired over a year ago and Luka's knowledge has been ignored since then, so I can't exactly blame a casual viewer for forgetting. So it's seriously a good thing that the episode spends so much time reminding us that he knows.
SO was excited to see where this went and then very unexcited when it led to Luka being voted off the island and nothing else. But, hey, at least someone knowing the identities actually led to consequences! It won't happen again, but this was a brief moment of narrative competence where they gave real weight to the "identities have to stay secret" BS that they've been undermining since Queen Bee and straight up butchering since Gang of Secrets.
If people kept having to leave Paris like this, then the lack of a Love Square reveal would feel logical. Especially because, in theory, Marinette is right about it being risky. Doubly so since they don't know that they know each other, so they think that they'll have to make up a story about how they met and such.
SO called bullshit on Anarka letting Kitty Section sign Bob Roth's contract and, yeah, did anyone buy that she'd allow that? Come on, let there be at least one competent parent on this show! Also, Luka's a bit of a pushover, but he's not stupid. I don't buy him telling the gang to sign those papers. (Also, can minors even sign a contract like that in France? I'd assume parents would need to be involved.)
It was at this point that Bob Roth' name registered with my SO. He paused the episode to go: "Wait, isn't that the painting guy?" Which, yes, the names are super similar and hard to differentiate when you hear them. Bob Ross is who most people would think of. Not sure if that's as true in France, but we changed Noel to Chris for localization! Why not this one, too?
(I know he's named after someone on the production team, but still. I would have chosen another name.)
The real standout moment of the episode? The duck getting hit with Bob Roth's magical golden record. Not because it was a particularly funny moment, but because it meant that I got to introduce the SO to Disco Duck! Yes, this is a real, serious song. It hit the top 10 in multiple countries. The 70's were a wild time.
youtube
SO countered with this thing, which pales in comparison to the glory of disco duck, imo, but feel free to tell me if you disagree
youtube
(I'm not going to post reviews for every episode, only the ones where I have something funny to say or a criticism that I haven't seen before. Originally, I skipped Migration, but someone asked about it and I realized that I did have some funny stuff to add in retrospect. Everyone deserves to experience Disco Duck at least once)

The Seed that Grew a Pearl (5755 words) by thesavagesabretooth Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Pearl Fey/Trucy Wright Warnings: Gender Issues, Gender Confusion, Referenced Child Abuse
Summary: Trucy takes Pearl on her first ever clothes shopping adventure in preparation for Pearl to enter the police academy and become a detective. Back at home, the two of them start to talk about their relationship, and Trucy accidentally reveals a secret about Pearl that even Pearl didn't understand.
-
August 15, 2028– 12:35 pm
Despite Pearl having finished high school right around the time everyone had gotten back from Khura'in, Trucy hadn't seen as much of her as she wanted to. She'd been busy. Helping Maya getting things together in Kurain village, and getting ready for her own big change.
Trucy had missed her…but it wasn’t as if she herself wasn’t busy. The fallout of the Gramaryeland show, her new assistants, and the constant stress of running the Wright Anything Agency and working through her own school work…she’d not gotten the chance to reach out for longer than she would have liked.
But that changed today. She’d managed to get a little time, and she’d managed to invite Pearl out on an afternoon about town.
They'd started with lunch in a little cafe at the corner of the shopping district that Phoenix had dropped them off at. Pearl was finishing up her boba, fishing around in the bottom of the cup for tapioca pearls, and looking a little lost in thought.
Trucy leaned on her hand with a little grin as she stirred what remained of her own with the thick straw. “Penny for your thoughts? Heck, I’d even give a dime.”
Pearl laughed. "So generous! It's just my first time going clothes shopping, you know?"
“I know!” Trucy took a sip of her boba with a slight frown. “there weren’t exactly malls in your village…and there was kinda a uniform…but it’s pretty exciting right? Getting to go out and buy your own stuff?”
"It is exciting!" she smiled, playing with the straw of her drink. "Kind of nerve wracking, too. I've never picked my own clothes before. I think I'd probably just default to my robes– but they're super not appropriate attire for police training."
Police training. Police academy. Trucy had known it was coming. Trucy had been the first one that Pearl had ever told. She would have killed to have been a fly on the wall when she told Maya. Not that she didn't know Maya would be supportive, but– the surprise!
Like a magic trick.
“Probably not! If nothing else I think they’d get dirty easy, and they’re not exactly made for like…skulking through crime scenes.” She tapped her finger against her chin. “but that leaves you having to figure out from like…step 0.”
"Super step zero," she nodded. "I asked Big sis Iris and Mr. Armando for some tips, but I'm still glad I have you here to help me, Trucy. Oh! Speaking of which, since Iris is busy tonight, your dad doesn't mind me staying over, right?"
Trucy grinned widely.
“Oh hooo, Miss Iris is busy tonight huh?” She leaned on her hand with a wink “if there’s good gossip, you gotta tell me….but of course daddy won’t mind! He likes you, and anyway, I’d insist! It’s been too long since we had a sleepover, Pearl!”
"It super has been," she giggled. "There's not any really good gossip– they just have Miss Lana over again, since she got out last month."
“Oh yeah! Everyone got real excited about that…” Trucy bobbed her head. The former chief prosecutor was someone she’d only met once or twice through her father…but from the way he, and especially Miss Ema, spoke about her it was clear she was someone important to a lot of them.
She’d finally gone free a month ago, and had been spending a lot of time hanging about the old guard around the various offices– and especially with Iris and Diego.
“They’re pretty close aren’t they? The three of them. She’s been visiting you guys a bunch!”
"She has! She's pretty restrained as a person, but she got a little excited when I told her I was going to be going into the police academy."
"Yeah? I’m not surprised. Daddy told me she used to be like…a superstar detective turned prosecutor. She’s one of the reasons Investigator Ema is Like That.” She grinned at Pearl excitedly. “So she probably got excited to hear someone bright and cool like you wanted to join the force too! Admittedly it IS super exciting. Officer or Detective Pearl Fey has a ring to it!”
"Awwww…. Trucy," Pearl covered her face as she blushed. "You're too nice to me! Um, hey can I ask you a favor, by the way?"
“Of course I am, Pearl! You’re one of my favorite people you know.” She leaned on her hand with a grin. “anything, what can magical girl Trucy do for you?”
Pearl leaned on her hands, and smiled, but there was a sad, worried look in the shadows of her eyes. "You'll make sure I don't do anything weird, or embarrassing while we're shopping, right? I really, really don't want people to know I've never been shopping for myself…"
Trucy leaned forward and placed both hands on her shoulders, grinning warmly from ear to ear.
“Of course…it’ll be our secret , yeah?” She winked at her playfully “like a magic trick, nobody’ll be any the wiser.”
August 15, 2028– 7:30 pmTrucy’s dad had of course let Pearl spend the night, especially when Trucy had begged him with her best puppy-dog eyed look, so when they got back to the Wright family home, they wasted no time in dropping the various bags and boxes all around Trucy’s eclectically decorated bedroom.
The shopping trip had been fun, very fun…and just like she’d promised Pearl, she made sure that nobody was any the wiser that it was Pearly’s first time hitting the stores in the LA malls and outlets.
The two of them had hit nearly every store (and Trucy couldn’t stop herself from picking up a new outfit or two herself), until Pearl was set with a whole new wardrobe for her first day in the police academy. But Trucy had to admit, the longer they shopped the more surprised she was by Pearly’s taste in clothes.
Not bad-surprised of course, she honestly found it pretty cool, and had to admit Pearl looked pretty great in it when she’d come out of the changing rooms to try them on. But it was still one heck of a surprise when the cutesy, traditionally dressed girl from Kurain Village went almost exclusively for outfits that Trucy would describe as ‘pretty damn butch’.
With how flustered Pearl had gotten when she pointed it out she had had to reassure her that she wasn’t ‘doing anything weird’ , or anything like that. It was just surprising— and, she had teasingly added, pretty dashing.
Pearl–once more in her usual uniform after they'd finished shopping– flopped down on the end of Trucy's bed. "Wow. Nobody told me that shopping made you tired," she joked.
“It’s the mall,” Trucy joked. “It takes your energy like a big vampire as payment for the good times you have there.”
She took off her silk hat and placed it on its mannequin head, before she picked up a bag to set it aside and flopped down on the bed too. “Oough. It’s all the running around…and difficult choices!”
Pearl flopped her head down on Trucy's shoulder. "So many difficult choices! Even with all the stuff I got there was still stuff to put back. … you don't think I got too much do you? It was probably too much."
“It’s a whole new wardrobe Pearl.” Trucy flopped onto her stomach as her bangs fell into her face. “Honestly I don’t know if you got enough”
Pearl chewed on her thumb thoughtfully and glanced between Trucy and the bags. "Maybe…. I did at least remember to get underwear…. and socks…. and new pajamas… Thanks for reminding me about those.."
Trucy leaned on her hand with a chuckle, waving one of the bags towards her.
‘Well yeah! I’m kinda surprised you didn’t realize you needed them! But I know things were uh…different…in Kurain.”
"It's going to be a big adjustment," Pearl said, still chewing on her thumb. "Sleeping in a dorm and everything. Aside from with you or Maya I'm used to being alone in my room at night."
Trucy nodded, watching Pearl with a bright and affectionate smile. “yeah? I’m not surprised…are you nervous about it? Maybe you’ll get a real nice roommate.”
"I hope so! Did you know Vera Misham is going into the academy, too? we might end up rooming together."
Athena’s eyes widened
“Vera?? Huh! I had no idea…I mean, she mentioned wanting to get into law and stuff and get out of her house, but I didn’t expect that!” She grinned and scootched a little closer to Pearl “ She’s quiet too, that wouldn’t be too bad of a roomie situation! Fingers crossed! ...do the barracks dorms allow occasional overnight guests?”
"Gosh! I'm not sure! Do you think they wouldn't?" Pearl cocked her head curiously. "I guess if police training is anything like spiritual training they might now."
It was probably silly for Trucy to have asked. It probably didn't even occur to Pearl why they actually might not allow overnight guests.
Trucy giggled.
“I don’t think it’s anything like spirit stuff, actually. But they uhm…well..” She leaned on her hands with a flush. “They…may…object to people who are close ah, spending time very close…in their dorm beds. A-anyway! if they don’t allow it I can always just magic my way in and pull a vanishing act if the drill sergeant or whatever gets wise.”
"That's because you're a super cool magician," Pearl grinned back at her. She poked her fingers together thoughtfully and seemed to reflect, as Trucy noticed her blushing. "You mean they don't want people being, uh, romantic, in the dorms, right?"
“Yeah…” Trucy nodded with a half smile and a flush of her own “they probably don’t want people getting romantic in the dorms…they probably see it as like , a distraction or something.”
"Well, I mean that makes sense," she nodded. "It's kind of rude to be romantic in a dorm setting anyway. But it won't matter if we're all girls, right?"
Trucy tapped her chin.
“if we’re all girls…maybe not? I dunno what the police’s stance on that is!”
She shifted on the bed thoughtfully, before she hugged one of the bags to her chest with a flush. ‘Romantic’. It was that word that brought up what had been on her mind for a while now. It was no secret to anyone that she was fond of Pearl…and the two of them had been practically dating for a long while.
But it was still ‘practically’, as they’d never talked about it despite going out on what could easily be called dates plenty of times. She chewed her lip thoughtfully “I think they could look the other way, probably?”
Pearl leaned on her shoulder, blushing a little. "Is this your way of saying that you want to come visit me, Trucy?"
“Wellll….” Trucy hummed quietly. “Yeah, actually…it is! I mean, if that’s o-okay, you know?”
Pearl covered up her face embarrassedly.
"Well, I mean, of course it is. But– do you mean like, you know…." her voice dropped to a whisper, "romantically?"
Trucy bopped the top of her head with a flustered grin.
“What if I told you ‘of course’? Can I be honest with you, Pearly? I know we’ve been close for a hell of a while now…”
Pearl bit her lip and gave her a wide eyed look. "I hope you'd be honest with me, you know?"
“Always,” Trucy said with a flushed grin “but I mean…I’ve liked you for a while now, I’m sure you’ve noticed that, and we’re practically dating…maybe I’ve kinda wanted it to be less practically and more…you know.”
She poked her fingers together with a flustered laugh “romantically? Visits and all?”
"Gosh. Um… okay, can I be honest, Trucy?" Pearl asked, flushing deeper. She didn't pull away from Trucy at all, so that was a good sign.
Trucy leaned her head against her shoulder with a laugh. “I hope you’d be honest with me too, yeah?”
"Yeah.. so um," she frowned and bit her lip. "Dating and romance is not really something that gets talked about in Kurain? All I've ever heard about is you know, finding a husband to continue the family line. And usually in the village they do that with a matchmaker. So… being honest, I had no idea if you felt that way about me or not… I don't know how any of that works, especially between girls."
Trucy nodded thoughtfully against her shoulder.
“Geeze…that makes a lotta sense. Things up there are a little…” Distressingly old fashioned and restrictive, even compared to the US’ cultural baggage of ‘keeping it private’ as her daddy always said about Mr. Edgeworth.
“Different,” she politely finished. “It makes sense you wouldn’t know a whole lot about romance and ah, stuff. I admit, I’m not exactly an expert even if I’ve had a little experience.”
It still took her all the way through the Gramarye-Retinz trial to realize Bonny and Betty had a thing for her….”but it’s like…down to how someone makes you feel, you know?”
"Yeah? And if you feel it, you just kind of know?" she asked, rubbing her neck nervously.
“I think so, yeah.” Trucy said with a lopsided smile. “Or at the very least have kinda an inkling. At least that’s how it works for me.”
"And…" Pearl said slowly. "You feel that way about me? Like… not as a funny joke?"
“W-well yeah!” Trucy held her hands up with a flustered smile “it’s not really something I joke about!... well. Much. There was that time I joked about making a good bride for Apollo with his dad, and that time I kept teasing everyone about my panties, but still. Not as a funny joke at all! I really do…it’s the butterfly feeling and everything…and every time we hang out I get really excited. I’ve had a crush on you for like…a long while!”
"Wow…." Pearl laughed and covered her blushing face. "I wish I'd known sooner, because I've kind of felt that way about you for a while. But, I didn't know what I was supposed to do with that."
Trucy turned pink and bumped her shoulder against her with a laugh, bopping the top of her own head and sticking her tongue out.
“Geeeze…I guess I spent too long beating around the bush, huh?” She flashed a bright grin at her. “If we both feel the same way, though…maybe we can figure out what to do with it together, huh?”
"I hope you don't mind me following your lead a bit," Pearl said. "At least for a while. Since all I have to go on is the movies we've watched together. And… I've been told you're not supposed to do everything you see in the movies."
Pearl laughed, but the way she turned pink, Trucy could tell she was really embarrassed about her lack of experience.
Reaching up, Trucy gently rustled Pearl’s hair with a wink
“True enough, but don’t worry… Magical Girl Trucy’s got this, huh?” she leaned in close with a hum, nuzzling against her shoulder. “You can follow my lead as much as you gotta, that’s absolutely fine!”
Pearl grinned, and leaned into her in return. "I'm glad! I'm also even more glad I didn't end up doing anything embarrassing today while we were shopping. I wouldn't want to embarrass myself in front of my…. girlfriend?"
She hesitated on the last word, clearly trying it out, and seeing how Trucy would react to it.
Trucy hoped the way her face lit up in a wide grin was what Pearl was hoping for, because she absolutely couldn’t help herself as she looped her arms around her and gave her a squeeze.
“It’d at least have been pretty cute!” Trucy laughed playfully, before she squeezed her again “but you totally didn’t! I’d say my girlfriend did pretty good for her first shopping trip in the city! And came out of it looking real good in that new wardrobe of hers.”
Pearl looked delighted, and put her arms around her in return. "You really think so? I picked the clothes I always liked to see on people and felt, you know, a little jealous about."
Trucy leaned a little closer with a grin
“I do think so, If we’d talked about this a little earlier I probably woulda stolen a kiss in the changing room.” She nodded curiously, though. “that makes sense honestly? That’s how you should clothes shop..look for the things you like and wanna see on yourself instead of other people. It’s how I buy most of the stuff I wear outside my stage outfit, myself. You like kind of a butch style, huh?”
She chewed on her thumb, thoughtfully. "I guess so? I've always really liked the way like, Mr. Nick, and Mr. Diego and some of the detectives dress, you know? It's really good looking, and everyone takes you seriously and thinks you look handsome and cool."
Pearl's ears blushed hotter as she admitted it, and she grinned awkwardly.
“They do dress really frickin’ great, admittedly,” Trucy nodded with a wide grin “I’ve always loved people in suits.”
She looked Pearl over with a thoughtful “hmmmmmmmm” and a sly grin plastered on her face. “You know…maybe you should try on one of those outfits you bought again, Pearly. Because I’m working off memory here, and I’m pretty sure you looked pretty cool, and real handsome… but I want more evidence for the court record!”
Pearl laughed, and rubbed her neck. "If you think so, I won't say no! … you really think I look handsome?"
“I mean…” Trucy blew a kiss her way. “if nothing else it gives me another good look. I’m not gonna complain about that….but yeah. I really do…they suit you, Pearly. I was surprised, you know? It wasn’t what I expected your style to be, but it really looks great on you.”
Pearl gave her another squeeze, and then hopped up off the bed, hurrying over to find one of the bags.
"I'm guessing you can't really picture me out of kimonos, huh?"
Trucy laughed. “admittedly, it’s all I’ve ever seen you in. I got kinda used to it, you know? Kinda like if you never saw me change outta my magician outfit.”
"Yeah, but your magician's outfit looks good! And at least it stands out, you know? My outfit is the same thing everyone in the village wears." She pulled some of the clothes that she'd bought out of one of the bags, and put them on Trucy's dresser.
She watched curiously, once more looking over the outfit Pearl chose to model as it sat folded on her dresser, and leaned on her hands after rolling to her stomach. “
"I mean, I do love my magician outfit, it’s kind of tailor made to be as cute as possible! But…that makes sense. Daddy said something to that effect a few times. About Miss Maya dressing the same way.”
"Yeah?" she cocked her head curiously as her hands went to her clothes. She paused. "Oh– should I change somewhere else, or? Um. I don't know the rules now that we're dating…"
Up to now, Pearl had always changed in another room, or with Trucy's back turned. They'd never really discussed it, it was just the habit Pearl at least, was into.
Trucy flushed deeply, and spread her fingers before leaning on her hands again. “I mean…I wouldn’t say no to watching if you weren’t too embarrassed! You don’t need to change in the bathroom or whatever if you don’t wanna.”
Admittedly…she’d had thoughts before and despite the hot flush that burned over her cheeks, or perhaps in concert with it, she was a little curious.
Pearl bit her lip, and hesitated for a moment. Then she giggled. "Well… if you won't say no– then I'll go ahead and change here. In front of my girlfriend."
Trucy clapped her hands together cheerfully “your girlfriend…is super excited, Pearly~”
She shrugged out of her robe first, gently placing it on the back of the chair, and then carefully– almost teasingly despite the bright, bright red flush of her face– tugged the ribbon sash free, letting the folds of the kimono fall open.
Trucy got a glimpse of what was underneath, pale golden skin interrupted by her magatama pendant, and a white set of underclothes– including an undershirt– still mostly hidden by the folds of the kimono as it hung open on her.
“Geeze, Pearl…” Trucy whistled softly. “...you’re really attractive, you know that?” She leaned on her hand with a grin.
Pearl laughed, and covered her face– which ironically gave Trucy another glimpse past the open kimono. "You're nice to say so, Trucy."
Pearl had a flatter chest than Trucy had expected– only a soft rise under her white undershirt, obscured, and perhaps sometimes a little exaggerated by the thick folds of the robes and kimono she usually wore.
Carefully, Pearl started to peel the kimono off of her shoulders, which were left bare except for the narrow strap of her filmy undershirt.
It was a bit of a surprise…Trucy had always expected that the garment and underclothes were intentionally slimming, sort of hiding it–but Pearl really must have been that petit.
She shifted a little against the bed until she was half sit up, crossing her legs under her with an encouraging grin.
Pearl finally fully shrugged out of the kimono fully, and stood barefoot in Trucy's room in only her white undershirt– which stopped just above the rise of her soft belly and bellybutton– and her white panties. She stood embarrassed, with her hands over her face, and wiggled her hips a little bit teasingly.
"Gosh," Pearl chuckled. "I've never been this undressed in front of someone before."
Watching the slightly older girl wiggle her hips in the middle of her room,Trucy felt flushed and a little dizzy as she brushed her hair over her shoulder with a wide grin.
“I haven’t had someone this undressed in my bedroom either. Changing rooms, sure, but my bedroom…” She winked “You look even better out of the kimono, though. I knew it.”
"What a thing to say!" Pearl giggled. She turned, and started grabbing the clothes.
As she did, Trucy got more of a view of Pearl's butt, and her body. Pearl was definitely very cute, and it was nice to see her undressed. But as she looked her over, Trucy couldn't quite help noticing that something seemed just a little… off.
There was kind of a lot more of a soft bulge in Pearl's white panties than Trucy had expected to see.
Trucy felt her face heat even more, and she let out an involuntary little ‘huh’ despite herself.
Pearl was in the middle of tugging a pea green silk button down over her arms when she heard Trucy and cocked her head, pausing mid motion.
"Hm?"
Trucy held up her hands with a flustered grin.
“oh! So-sorry Pearl! I was just uhm, a little surprised? Yeah, just uh…” She shot a fingergun her way with a shaky grin “got a magatama in your panties or are you just happy to see me?”
It wasn’t exactly the smoothest reply she’d ever managed, even taking into account the times she had to roll with improv during a stage show with a particularly rough crowd.
Pearl's hand went to the magatama around her neck, and she gave Trucy a confused, deer in the headlights look. "Huh?"
Trucy felt like she was putting her foot in her mouth in front of her recently confirmed girlfriend, and felt like her heartrate had spiked worse than it always did when she used her ‘perception’ ability for a little too long.
“Well uh…” she gestured vaguely down between her legs. “y-you know.”
Pearl, with her shirt half on and hanging open over her undershirt looked down, and blinked.
"Is… there something wrong with my underwear?"
She genuinely sounded like she had no idea what Trucy could be getting at.
Trucy leaned back on her bed with a furrow of her brow as she thought through what she wanted to say.
“No! I mean there’s nothing wrong at all!” She rocked forward again, her hands on her knees with a flustered grin “I just didn’t know you had a… ah…I mean…”
She usually was a little smoother than this. She felt like she might implode at any second.
Pearl bit her lip and her brow furrowed. She pulled out Trucy's desk chair and sat down for a minute, looking deep in thought.
"Trucy," she said, finally– sounding extremely hesitant. "Um. This… is a weird question."
“Yeah Pearly?” Trucy asked with a flustered murmur, leaning on her hands to prop her chin up. She was sure she looked as red as Apollo’s discarded coat in the office.
Pearl took a breath. "Is there… something that seems unusual about my body?"
“Not unusual! Just surprising!” Trucy responded quickly. She didn’t want Pearl to think Trucy found anything weird…she didn’t. It just– genuinely was a little surprising. “I just think your uh, bits…are different than mine. Which was a surprise? But not a bad one!”
"Different than yours," Pearl murmured. She tugged at the buttons on her open shirt. "And that's not something you expected?"
“Not exactly?” Trucy shifted shyly, before she hopped up and put her hands on Pearl’s shoulders with a small grin. “but that’s okay!”
Pearl leaned into her hands and smiled up at her, nervously. "Um, I'm glad it's okay. That's really genuinely fantastic to hear. I'm kind of trying to figure something out though. You wouldn't expect me to have different stuff in my underwear than you, because…?"
Trucy wasn’t a stranger to the things society didn’t exactly talk about– she’d heard a lot of things, going to school and hanging around the Wunder Bar in LA.. She knew of her father’s relationship with Miles, after all, and also of her father’s relationships with others around her. She knew of Clay and Apollo– she knew fellow performers whose bodies they were born in didn’t match how they felt inside.
She was utterly at a loss for where to start with the Pearl, the sheltered medium from the village that intentionally isolated itself from the world.
“well…I mean…It was just an assumption.” Trucy mused quietly before she stammered out “most girls I know don’t have dicks, so I just hadn’t thought of it. But it’s not what’s in your pants that makes you, you, you know? No matter what anyone says!”
Pearl blushed even deeper and slapped the desk. "Damn it, mom!! I knew it! I knew there was something up!"
“What.” Trucy said in a quiet squeak of a voice.
Pearl turned and grabbed Trucy by the shoulders– not roughly, but firmly. "Okay, Trucy. Walk through this with me. You know in Kurain only girls can be spirit channelers, yes? And how men are basically seen as useless?"
“U-uh huh.” Trucy nodded slowly. “Which, just as an aside, is completely fucked up…”
"Okay, but follow me here," Pearl said with a quiet desperation in her voice. "Let's pretend we're not being nice to people, we're just following the rules, okay? Are you with me, Trucy?"
“I’m with you.” Trucy gave her a firm smile as she snapped herself back to the moment. “I’m with you. Yeah?”
"Okay. Good. Then, Trucy, please tell me the truth. If we're following the rules– do girls not have… what I've got? Is a person who has that not a girl? Did my mom lie to make me a girl?"
There was a quiet desperation rising in Pearl's voice, a rawness at the base of it, and her eyes had gotten pinpricked.
Trucy’s smile had gone a little rigid as the situation once more evolved in her mind.
“Justitia’s tits…” she swallowed thickly. “Tyyypically, if we’re following society’s rules. Girls…don’t…tend to have…what you’ve got. I don’t, that’s for sure. I can show you if you want.”
She laughed nervously. She’d heard a thing or two about Pearl’s mother…mostly only her daddy’s furious disdain for the ambitious and cruel woman and what he’d done to Miss Maya and, if she picked up the subtext there, and now here, Pearl. “I uhm…I think she might have. I’m so-sorry.”
Pearl sagged against Trucy, and leaned her head on her shoulder suddenly. "I knew it. I… of course she lied. Why wouldn't she? All she ever wanted was for me to become the Kurain channeling master. No wonder…."
Trucy’s heart thumped loud in her chest as she moved on impulse to hug Pearl tight, holding her as she sagged.
“I’m sorry, Pearl,” she murmured, as she reached up to brush her hair.
“I’m really, really sorry. She wanted you to become the master so she lied to …to make you conform to the expectation, ye-yeah? ‘Because only girls are spirit channelers’ and thus can be the masters?” She took a deep breath “cruel…that’s, pardon my language Pearl, completely fucked up.”
Pearl took a deep breath too, and made a small keening noise as Trucy held her. "Yeah… only girls are spirit channelers. And it sounds like normally, I wouldn't be considered a girl? If my mom wasn't trying to do that?"
Trucy leaned into her, rubbing her back gently as she breathed in and out, maybe to try and guide Pearl into doing the same.
She wanted to comfort her– badly. She hadn’t expected to stumble into a big revelation, or something that so obviously hurt Pearl while flirting with her, but she wanted to be there. She wanted to help her feel …if not better, than like she could address all this with help.
“That’s what I’d imagine, Pearl..” Trucy nodded slowly. “normally, if your mom didn’t try to, ah, skew the impression of you, you’d probably have been seen as a boy…”
"So… I have a body that boys normally have," she said, leaning against her. She followed Trucy's breathing, in, and out. "This definitely explains why my mom told me to never, ever change or be naked in front of someone unless I trusted them with my life."
Trucy’s voice shuddered in a desperate half laugh, and her arms pulled Pearl closer as she rested her chin atop Pearl’s head.
“I’m glad you trust me with your life, Pearl…but still…geeze. How…how does it make you feel? K-knowing that. Not like, what your mother did. I mean…the other part.”
"Well I'm mad at my mom!" Pearl huffed. "I don't know… I feel pretty confused, Trucy… sorry I spoiled our fun sleepover…"
“You should be! Pearl…lying to you like that? T-trying to use you like that? It’s fucked up!” Trucy puffed her cheeks out in quiet fury, seething at the very thought of a mother lying to her child like that.
“Be mad! And…and” She squeezed Pearl tight. “no matter what I’ve got your back, okay? I’ll do all I can to help you sort it out! It..it’s not like the sleepover’s ruined, either! I still wanna see you in your new clothes!”
"You do?" Pearl perked up a little against her, and looked up at her with big, dark eyes.
Trucy nodded with a grin, and reached up to brush Pearl’s cheek with her thumb.
“Yeah. I bet you’ll look real cool and handsome in ‘em. Maybe even more than at the mall!”
Pearl smiled, and poked her fingers together as she leaned into Trucy's touch. "Hey um, I have a dumb question."
Trucy’s thumb brushed against her cheek again as she flushed with a smile. “Yeah Pearl?”
"Um, so I know you said my body doesn't bother you, even if you weren't expecting it, and I know you think it's okay if I'm a girl, right?" she murmured. "But… would it be okay if I um… if I actually said I might want to be a boy?"
“Gosh, Pearl…” Trucy looked into her eyes with a shy smile. “of course it would be. I mean…if you wanna be a boy, then that’s what you are in my book! If that’s who you are, and how you feel you should be, then that’s what you are!”
She leaned down and kissed the top of Pearl’s head with a flush. “And anyway…I’m bisexual~” she cooed against the top of her head. She’d picked up the term from a friend at the Wunder Bar a few years ago, and had been deeply relieved  to hear it wasn’t just her “That’s what it is when you like both boys AND girls. A lot. So it sure doesn’t bother me, Mr. Detective-in-training Pearl.”
"Gosh!" Pearl giggled and swooned against her. "Well, I don't know for sure yet, exactly. But… I kind of want to try it out at least, even if it's just with you. I've never gotten a chance to be a boy before..."
Trucy laughed with her, brushing Pearl’s hair with her fingers.
“Even if it’s just with me, I’m happy to help you try it out, Pearl! And if it’s whatcha want…I’ll make sure nobody gives you crap for it! I’ll make them vanish with my magic act if I gotta…” She gave Pearl another squeeze. “We can have lots of fun with it, giving you the chance and choice your mom didn’t give you. Okay?”
Pearl rubbed her flushed face, and took a deep breath. "Have I ever told you you're the best, Trucy?"
Trucy put her finger on her chin with a grin.
“You have…but I do love hearing it.” She winked playfully down at Pearl. "...but thanks. You’re really great too, you know? You’ve helped me through a bunch too.”
"And I always will! Promise." With one more deep breath, Pearl stepped backward, and started buttoning up the buttons of the silk shirt.
Trucy leaned against the post of her bed to watch, rubbing her hand against her face to still the blush that still lingered.
“I believe you, Pearl…but for now…you’re gonna model the hell outta those clothes for me, Detective. And I’m gonna enjoy the hell out of the show.”

Hello. A few months ago, I made a post about what roles Amy would assign to certain Sonic characters if they were there during the Mirage Express incident. I can't find that post due to Tumblr search tending to forget posts exist, plus that og post is a bit old, so I'm remaking it with my new vision for how they would interact. Some of these picks are unlikely but screw you they're my favorite characters. This is really long and was written during little bursts of free time, so I hope it's not too incoherent.
Mecha Sonic would be assigned the Angry Grandpa archetype for his role and would be put in the Lounge car. He doesn't wanna be here and he's only here because he owes Sonic after the events of Scrapnik Island. Amy keeps trying to get Mecha to wear a fake beard but Mecha is VERY adamant about not wearing it. He would be disinterested with what everyone else is doing during the events of the game. During the segment where everyone is called up to the conductor's car for Barry to deduce who the murderer was, Mecha just isn't there because he doesn't care.
Silver would be assigned the Butler archetype. He would be in the Dining car. He would be super paranoid due to getting way too into character and worried of the others using the "the butler did it" trope to accuse him. He can't be accused, he has pillows to fluff and meals to serve! This'll be horrible! If it gets out to the press, his butler services will be ridiculed! Yeah. I imagine him getting that into character. If you can't see this, you forgot the time in a DS Mario & Sonic game he said you had the right to boil and burn him for losing at ice hockey. Of course he'd be way too invested in his character.
Whisper would be assigned the Librarian role due to her quiet nature. When the books fall after the crash, she would get her Wisps to help her and the hands clean them up. She'd mostly just talk with Tangle (we'll get to her in a sec) and keep to herself. Barry would mention Sonic's words at some point and Whisper would be the only one to take that seriously. She'd begin sleuthing around with Barry and Tails, despite the fact she's supposed to stay in her car. Tangle would tag along too.
Tangle would be given the role of Teen Troublemaker. She would be assigned to the Casino car because Amy didn't know where to put her, but she would almost immediately make her way to the Library car to hang out with Whisper after the crash. She would get excited when Whisper joins Barry and Tails. Finally, something interesting! She would then tag along too, and would agree with Barry over the trash can thing. And would be rifling around every trash can until it's time to go to the next room, even if Barry checks them and finds nothing.
Sticks would, of course, be given the Crazed Conspiracy Theorist role. Before you say anything about Sticks being in the Boom universe, the ending of Sonic Frontiers has Amy mention Sticks, meaning she's been moved over to main canon. Back to what she would do here, she would be put in the Dining car. No relation to her role, Amy just wants her quite literally as far from the conductor's car as possible so she won't mess with the controls. She'd be the first to catch on to the train being evil way before it's revealed, and everyone would brush it off as Sticks just being Sticks. During the rescue segment, she would go on and on about how she was right.

He-he~
My team is Sampo, Kafka, Black Swan and Fu Xuan c:<
ask game is closed!
He-he~?
but hello hehe thanks for sending your team! i'm so excited i get to talk about mr sampo nyehehehe
who’s the most ticklish character
omg i'm putting sampo here bc like just look at his outfit sir why are you dressed like that unless you wanna be tickled?? (and what if he loses even more clothes when a 5 star version comes around hehe we all saw what they did to dan heng) but ya he has the ugliest shrieks whenever he's tickled and no matter the kind of techniques that are used it's always the same obnoxious cackling from him and he begs a lot lmao but he's super hard to pin down and catch but it's so worth it when someone can get their hands on him
who’s the character that most people would assume isn't ticklish, but actually is
kafka because she's so fearless and does not flinch even when tickles are coming her way and keeps that same calm demeanor. if someone tries tickling her, she'll even encourage it and be like "no, no, go ahead, tickle me, i insist. see what happens~" and it makes people second guess whether they should or not bc this woman is a threat like gurl is gonna snap my fingers lol also i mentioned this before but black swan because she does not have a physical body but people can still tickle her in dreams and such! sampo made sure to make use of that when he found out that she's ticklish hehe
who’s the character that everyone gangs up on and tickles
FU XUAN this team is full of good lers and then there's her just standing there rip to the master diviner. like girl is just trying to live her life and do divinations one minute but then the next minute everyone is dogpiling her and she's getting her shit wrecked. sometimes she'll be doing her little divinations and she sees that she's going to get ganged up on later that day and she's like "oh fuck oh fck me time to panik" and she gets super stressed out i feel bad for her lol
who’s the character that somehow knows everyone else’s tickle spots and reveals them to others
oki so black swan would be super good at this because she collects memories so she has memories of people getting tickled in specific spots and she'll reveal them casually like "sampo~ do you dress like that because you like having your little sides tickled?" fu xuan has black swan beat in this category though because black swan can only see where people have been tickled memories, not tickle spots that have yet to be explored. fu xuan can see everything though and it is the one trump card she has over the others lol
who's the character with one specific tickle spot that only one other person knows about
okay i was watching this streamer rank hsr characters and they said sampo has vagina bones and now i can't unsee it so this man and his vagina bones or his crotch i guess are super sensitive and somehow kafka knows about it and she just teases him about his vagina bones in general aksldfjklsa
who’s the most likely to win gang tickle wars
there are so many good candidates for this question. like black swan is probably the right answer for this question because she can manifest those arms WITH POINTY NAILS to come out and not only tickle multiple people but also pin them down. but also kafka and sampo would just be so teasy in their own different ways and they themselves are very good ticklers that don't need to rely on some external force to help them out so like ya maybe black swan is technically the right answer but these two still give her a run for her money y'know? fu xuan is like that one jojo meme where it's like three people beating up one guy together like poor thing just ceases to exist during tickle wars
which character has a kink for tickling
i wanna say kafka i just feel it in my soul i just know she'd give her lee hell because she's good at getting people in their head and maybe the actual tickling isn't so bad but its the way she teases and psyches her lee out the whole time that makes it ninety times worse than it should be
which character didn’t even know they were ticklish until another character tickled them
oh it's absolutely fu xuan and back at the xianzhou, no one would dare to tickle the master diviner, but in this team, kafka is like "i have to thank you for imprisoning me, it was truly a once in a lifetime experience" and she already has her hands all over fu xuan and fu xuan can barely process her words because she has to deal with all the unfamiliar tickly sensations
which two characters have tickle fights all the time
oh sampo absolutely fights kafka and black swan everyday like this man is so brave trying to fight these two menaces in that outfit and he is so dumb because he loses all the time but that moment of shock the two have when he manages to actually tickle them is so worth the wreckings he receives later idk he's such a dumb little guy

Being on a stream where I played Psychonauts 1 someone who is just exposed to Razputin for the first time and hearing them say "Yo, he has rizz." makes me think of @doodle88 bringing up how much of a wet cat that Raz is in PN2.
So a few scenes I would probably change are some scenes with my favorite girl.
First scene in the Atrium, where Lili is yelling at Jared to let her through to let her see her dad, The inflection of the Intern program would probably be less dejected to curious, to more angered, then excited as he realizes Lili might be in program. I also think that since Raz was fine mentioning making out with Lili in front of brainless Superstar Agents Nein and Vodello, and some strange woman crying about her turtle, as well as kissing her in front of his dad, I would have him be more snarky about it. Oh, you mean to tell me that EVERYONE in the Motherlobe is like your surrogate aunt/uncle/older sibling figure? Do they know you've kissed someone yet, Miss Zanotto? And Lili every time he brings it up is like super embarrassed cause she hates PDA like she saw back at Whispering Rock, but to Raz seeing his siblings and kids his age do a lot of PDA at camp, that's normal. The scene where Raz asks Lili about helping her, instead of making him nervous, make him hopeful. But the heartbeat is still there and his smile starts getting wider as he's expecting a kiss. Still get that fakeout though, leading to the same outcome.
The scene where Lili is in Truman's office, but before the casino mission (aka, after you go to the mailroom but before you go to class) I'd probably add in a few more details to the conversation. A lot of it is the same cause Raz knows it's a delicate situation when Lili's around her unconscious dad. However things like "did your dad have any enemies" would result in more Lili and Raz being comic nerds together (WE WERE ROBBED OF MORE TPT TALK BETWEEN THESE TWO) mentioning villains that may brianwash, but they're ruled out by Lili cause she mentions either kidnapping styles or their usual plans, in a little too much detail... almost like she'd been kidnapped before. Bringing up the kiss again would either lead to Lili playfully telling Raz: "That's what made my dad's Psilirium sickness worse in the first place, you jerk!" or "Moments, Raz. Geez." Lili bringing up how Truman fought with her Uncle Bob and her shrugging it off as "family stuff" would earn a nod from Raz, as well as something said in solidarity to it. Considering how he acted about his family and the underlying tension about psychics, I could see Raz seeing the arguments as something familiar. When Lili mentions that she wants to be told so real justice can be served, I think Raz would more so giggle and tell her "I'll keep that in mind."
Thinkerprint scene is SO good and will receive no changes. Same with the scene with "Truman" revealing he's awake.
For the multiple choices leading up to getting Lili's sidequest, I think the only one changed is "I guess I better take you into custody then" as it would be said with more exaggeration, and when Lili admonishes him, he gives her a more sad smile. The Interns would be mentioned about the same, as much as I think that Raz dislikes Norma around the same amount as Bobby Zilch, and can get irritated with Adam as much as he did with Clem and Crystal, overall he thinks of them as friends. This time if Raz brings up the kiss, I think it'd be more interesting to play into how he flubs the "That time we kissed was pretty cool and I was wondering-" to instead be "So I was cool back at Whispering Rock/The Rhombus of Ruin, enough to be an agent, in your eyes?" which would lead to Lili telling Raz that if she's not an agent yet, it seems a bit unfair, for him to be considered one. This could lead to an extended dialogue about Raz telling Lili "we should talk to your dad about it. When he's awake, I mean. If he doesn't bring up the kiss, I think it'd be funny to bring up the idea of how Lili saw Raz as a prince, considering he could use that power and see Lili's clairvoyance of Raz as a prince when she's tied up. Have him mention that specifically when they're alone, cause it's something just between each other and he's trying to rile her up a bit, get more energy in her. Said energy is matched and drained from Raz, when Lili brings up "I don't see you like that anymore. I don't think I could after seeing you shimmying outside of Milla's window in your circus uniform." Raz's expressions would go from surprised, to looking away bashfully, then back up with a bit of a smirk, considering Lili now sees Raz as a more cleaned up version of himself. When Raz wants to bring up the casino mission, Lili claims she'll read the debrief later. Raz once again mentions True Psychic Tales and "are you sure you want to spoil yourself with some boring mission debrief?" Lili would smile and say: "Then no spoilers from you, mister!" When Lili thanks Raz for getting the mushroom, she would instead say. "You have no idea how much this means to me. Here, I've got something to give you too." Raz turns his cheek smiling a bit, and is given the rank up with a simple "Oh. Right. Thanks!" Same thing happens if you do this side quest after Lili gets her dad back.
The "Girlfriend reveal" is the same because HOLY SHIT THE PN1 VS PN2 KNEE SHAKE IS GREAT.
If you try to leave the Heptadome and Lili is in there, where she asks Raz to stay with her, Raz will smile and then walk back saying "yeah, alright."
Gristol's mind stays the same. When Raz and Lili are ejected out, it remains the same.
The hug at the end of two is nearly the same, but after separating just a tad Lili still has her arms around Raz, giving him a kiss. The scene then plays out with Gristol trying to escape, only for the other agents to grab him, and Lili grabbing the box, with the same "Do you have a funnel?" line to Raz as he smiles and puts on his goggles, ready to work.

Duke and alexei for the ask game! And maybe duke and flynn....and of course, some Raven, mayhaps with Estelle
Have fun ^^
If its too much, feel free to just pick and choose
!!! ok I’m super excited to talk about ALL OF THESE but I’m gonna split them into separate posts (so it doesn’t get to be too long of a textwall in a single post)
/// VESPERIA SPOILERS BELOW ///
first up: I gotta talk about Raven & Estelle, because they are (imo) the single MOST tragically-swept-under-the-rug dynamic in all of Vespy canon & it’s absolutely criminal that we never got to see Estelle’s reaction when meeting Raven again post-Sword-Stair, or really any attempt to touch on her trauma whatsoever (and someday I hope to write a proper fic to give this the depth & attention it deserves which will most likely be in the form of a rewrite of the events following Baction bc part of the problem is that Raven reappeared WAY too fast with no time for any of the emotional beats to sink in which cheapens both the Schwann reveal & his sacrifice BUT I DIGRESS)
...so, Raven & Estelle!! Raven’s introduction presents him as very clearly Sketchy, & (whether out of simple naivete or her innately kind nature) Estelle is probably the only party member to trust him (or at least not want to get rid of him) right away… so it hits that much harder that she was the one most hurt by his betrayal, especially since he acted right as she was at a very low point of struggling with the truth of her powers & it came hand-in-hand with Alexei's big Villain Reveal. Considering that Estelle had lived a very sheltered life prior to leaving the Palace with Yuri, it's safe to say that this is the first time she's had to face any sort of notable betrayal, and to have it come from multiple angles at once & from people she knew personally (both a travelling companion she'd grown used to having her back in battle AND the leader of the Knights whose duty should have been to protect her) would have crushed any hope of a rescue, and coupled with Alexei's manipulation & dehumanising treatment (and her previous concerns over her powers) she'd begun to think she wasn't worth saving at all.
It goes without saying that Estelle would forgive Raven (because that's just who she is) but there's also no chance that she'd come out of it trauma-free, and that's something we really should have seen-- Estelle discovering that forgiveness isn't easy or simple (even if she wants it to be) & getting the chance to be visibly angry/upset; Raven forced to reckon with the lasting effects of his actions firsthand (the nightmares/insomnia, the little flinches when he catches her by surprise or brushes against her, etc) & taking on the responsibility of making it right again (which he definitely can't do unless he continues to live & works hard to earn it).
But on the other hand, I also think Estelle & Raven have a really nice potential for helping each other heal?? Because they've both been through the experience of being treated as weapons/tools by Alexei, and having the control he held over them linked to some integral part of their bodies (Raven's blastia; Estelle's CotFM powers) and they both struggled with suicidal ideation as a result of this trauma, and both were discarded & left to die as soon as Alexei no longer had a use for them (and also… asked Yuri specifically to kill them & had him refuse which. i could write a whole separate essay about Yuri being forced repeatedly to play executioner & his complicated relationship to that imposed role despite also being a cold-blooded vigilante killer, BUT this isn’t a Yuri Post so that’ll be a topic for another time). Raven & Estelle have some very unique similarities that would allow them to understand each other in a way that no one else truly can, and it's such a shame that their particular found-family dynamic didn't get any proper screentime.
......guess that's what fanfic is for, though!! I hope one of these days I can do them justice (or maybe this post will inspire others? or fic dealing with any part of this is already out there??? link recs are always welcome if you know of anything like this) :D
[parts 2 & 3 to come soon!! and I'm still accepting asks for this post if anyone else would like a ramble of their own]

(when writer's block fades) "Miya..darling..don't freak out..but I've got a problem." Trunks spoke as he allowed the chestnut furry tail of his to reveal itself. It was HARD enough to keep it still and now he can't help but have the appendage lightly wriggle around. "This is..normal for Saiyans..I just didn't think mine would ever grow back."
Tumblr media
“I'm sure it's not a problem! Between you and me, we'll have any and every situation sorted out--...”
After plopping down a newly-dusted trinket in its rightful place, Yoimiya swiveled 'round, spying just what this new Saiyan thing was. What Trunks deemed oddity she deemed extraordinary; the ability to whip back and forth through the power of flight, golden spikes of hair that never ceased in being totally awesome, super strength (although Yoimiya argued that was Trunks' own, not through other means)... plink-plink.
Oh. Oooh, that was the problem.
“...Promptly!” less a shout, more an excited squeal - a tail?! She'd begun to think only Bake-Danuki had those! And, well, every other creature that had a tail, duh. “You had me worried for a minute! Whenever you said 'problem,' I thought it was something seriously bad! Like - like growing a third arm! Wait, no, that would be cool too. And I could accomplish my commissions waaay faster! Wait, sorry, back on tails.”
Tumblr media
With narrowed eyes, Yoimiya observed this recent development. It was a tail, tucked neatly 'cross his waist, not unlike what Miss Miko would do upon occasion... presumably, this would assist in providing adequate care toward it; keeping it free from any stray flames, or an ajar door. Reaching out a hand, Yoimiya ran the tips of her fingers along it — fleece-like, not coarse. Aww, fitting!
“I meaaan, I don't see it as a problem! Think of it like an accessory, but on your back! Uh, back-ish? Lower back. You never told me you had a tail before, though! Don't think I missed that 'grow back' comment!”

Don't suppose there could be a sequel to bunny Luisa maybe? 😏😏😏😏😏
In honor of pride, yes you absolutely may. Imma make this one a bit fluffy, if you don't mind. Don't worry, we get naughty Luisa later, I just wanted some soft Luisa stuff first (because I know not ALL of you guys like lewd stuff).
"Wait, you haven't told them?"
"I mean. Not. Exactly. In words."
Luisa was on break at her shift at the 'fluffy bunny', and she was talking to her friends, who of course, were worried at this sudden information. Setsuna cocked her head to the side.
"So...you think your parents would be embarrassed that you have a job here?"
"Well it's. More the outfit."
"Luisa you look GREAT in that outfit!"
Luisa rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. That meant a lot, coming from the prettiest girl she'd ever seen. To say she had a crush on Charlotte was putting it lightly.
"I mean, thank you. It's just. It's revealing, that's all. I don't want my dad to have a heart attack or my mom to have a heart attack. It's just better that I tell them I do little jobs here and there and hope they don't find out till. Well the rest of my life."
Charlotte opened her mouth, only to suddenly look at the time.
"Ugh, breaks over girls. Look, Luisa, babygirl, you don't have to tell him. I'm just saying you should. Come on Setsuna."
"Where we going?"
"To work. At your job."
"Oh. Right. What do I do again?"
Setuna wasn't exactly. Smart. But she was super pretty and nice, hence why they were friends. Charlotte let Setsuna into the building, before lightly patting Luisa's bicep. She always smelled like cupcakes.
"You comin'? I could cover for you, I know the dinner rush can be hectic."
"Nah, I got it! I hate not pulling my own weight."
Besides, Luisa could handle anything. Right?
----------------------
"Yo! Agustín! Jules! We bugging you guys?"
Agustín was currently organizing their clothes while Julieta was taking a moment to rest for once. He saw the look on Félix and Pepa's faces, and they were clearly excited for something.
"Nothing that's going to make you guys leave. What's up?"
"Well, my brother Julio got these coupons for this place just outside the Encanto, but he didn't wanna go, so-"
"So get dressed! We're doing double date night! I'm talking dessert, drinks, dessert-"
"You said dessert twice, Pepi."
"I'm hungry, Félix."
Agustín looked at his wife. He'd want to go, but his wife had been on her feet all day, she must be exhausted. She looked as if she'd say no, but Pepa and Félix looked so excited, he knew her answer before she even said it.
"Oh alright. But who has the kids?"
"Bruno said he's got it! Now come on, hurry up- and look sexy! Don't act like you don't have tits!"
"Pepa, you're BAD!"
Félix and Pepa laughed as they exited the room, off to go get ready themselves. Julieta sighed.
"I don't like leaving the kids with Bruno, they raid the damn kitchen. Wish Luisa was here, she actually tells them no. Sometimes. Which is better than nothing."
Agustín chuckled as he leaned in to kiss his wife's cheek.
"She's out working, and I'm proud of her for it. She took ALL the grandkids out last week to buy them whatever they wanted from the market. She's clearly working hard."
"I know, I know. I just. Worry, Agustín."
"I know. That means you're a wonderful mami. But even mamis need breaks. Come on, let's get you into something nice. Why not this one?"
Julieta chuckled at the outfit he pulled out. A slim blue dress that had quite the impressive titty window.
"That was for Pepa's Bachelorette party, Agustín. It shows too much."
"I'm not gonna MAKE you. I'm just saying, I love it when people know how sexy you can be~"
He gave her that little eyebrow wiggle she adored, and of course, she relented.
"Fine, fine, I'll wear it. But YOU have to wear nothing once we get back, understand, puppy?"
His ears burned at that all too familiar pet name. God he loved this woman.
"Of course, whatever mami wants."
They shared a quick kiss, before they got ready. They met Pepa and Félix downstairs, and Félix whistled as soon as he saw them.
"Damn you two, making us look bad!"
Félix wore his brown button up (which was more of a button down, given how much chest he was showing), while Pepa wore an orange dress that showed off a WHOLE lot of leg. She grinned as she bumped hips with her sister, clearly already in a party mood.
"Damn hermana, looking good! Oh the boys are gonna be SAD when they realize our asses are married. Now let's GO, I'm STARVING-Julieta, NO."
She had to keep her sister from double checking the kitchen, grabbing her by the arm and making her walk out of the Casita. Félix grinned as he and Agustín caught up to them, both putting their arms around their women.
"Pepa's got a point, Jules, relax! Tonight you party, tomorrow you can panic. I mean, when was the last time you guys got to dance?"
She looked up at her husband, shrugging.
"Oh geez, I think the last time was Antonio's ceremony."
"I think you're right. But that's changing tonight!"
He gave her a little twirl as they walked, and the air was full of chatter and laughs until they got there. The fluffy bunny.
"You guys ever hear of this place?"
"Nope. But shit, coupons are coupons."
They managed to get inside without too much fanfare, getting a seat at a table. It was nice in here, dim lighting, a full bar. But Augustín quickly saw why the place was REALLY busy. Girls after girls wearing bunny outfits. Very...revealing bunny outfits. Pepa whistler at the sight, rather shamelessly.
"Daaaaamn-"
"Pepa!"
"What? I'm married, doesn't mean I can't look! Except Félix, he doesn’t get to."
"Fine with me, I get to look at you instead."
Agustín chuckled. He loved hanging out with these three, it was just like old times. An older woman came up to them, placing menus at their tables.
"Sorry we're a little packed tonight, folks, please be patient."
"Oh we're in no hurry! Please, take your time. We're just happy to be out of the house."
"Thank you kindly! I'll see to it you guys get one of my best girls."
With that, the woman left. Pepa grinned as she nudged his shoulder.
"Try not to like our server too much, Auggy, you dog."
"Pepa, there's no woman that's gonna have my attention tonight, aside from my wife."
-----------------------
"Luisa, honey, you mind taking another table?"
"I can ALWAYS take another table."
Luisa was swamped. But she didn't mind, she worked hard. Granted she'd prefer the tables with just the girls, since the guys were kinda creepy towards her (not always, but still), but she wouldn't complain regardless. She was about to approach the table, when her blood went cold. Oh no. Oh no oh no. She immediately dived behind the bar, with Martha raising a brow at her.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm not here, I'm NOT here. I was never here-i've never even EXISTED."
Martha knelt down, putting her hand on her knee in a comforting manner.
"Hey, hey. Easy. Is someone making you uncomfortable?"
She couldn't speak. Even as Setsuna and Charlotte approached for their drinks, and immediately saw her.
"Luisa! What's wrong? Who upset you, babe? I'll spit in their drinks."
"He's gonna think I'm a whore oh my god oh my god-"
Setsuna looked at the table Luisa had just been assigned to.
"The guy with glasses?"
"Yeah. Wait NO SETSUNA-"
She was too slow. She watched in horror as Setsuna approached the table, despite her calling out to her. She hated how she could somehow hear the conversation all the way from here.
"Hey, you're the guy with glasses."
"I...do wear glasses, yes. Are you here to-"
"Do you think I'm a whore?"
Oh no. Oh Dios above. He looked so confused, all of them did.
"I...pardon?"
"Agustín, do you know this woman?"
"I don't think so? I'm sorry, who are-"
"I'm asking if you think I'm a whore, because I'm wearing this. My friend says you're gonna think she's a whore, so she doesn't want to serve you."
Luisa groaned into her hands. God. Fucking. Dammit. Setsuna. She peered past her fingers to watch this train wreck.
"Oh. I'm sorry. You can tell your friend that I don't think she'd be a whore for wearing this. And even if she was, that's none of my business, what she does with her body."
Pepa nodded in agreement.
"I don't care if a bitch has eaten a million asses, I just want some food."
Setsuna somehow made it even worse. She turned, waved at the bar, and called out LOUD to her.
"Yo! Luisa! He's cool! And if he isn't I'll spit in his drinks if you want!"
"Wait. Luisa?"
That was when she met her father's very shocked eyes. And she knew her life was ruined.
-------------------
Agustín didn't know what to do. First this waitress was acting weird questions, then he was suddenly looking at his very scared daughter behind a bar counter. Immediately the poor thing burst into tears, and bolted for the bathroom. Julieta ran with him, calling out to her and recieving no response. They burst through the bathroom door, Immediately finding the source of the loud sobs, in one particular stall.
"Luisa! Honey? Come on out, let's talk!"
"No! I didn't want you to see me like this! You OR mom! I'm sorry!"
He shared a nervous glance at his wife as they both surrounded the stall.
"No, mija, please! Let's talk! We're confused! We thought you were working!"
"I...i am working. This is my job. I've been working here for four months. I'm sorry!"
Agustín scowled in confusion before looking back at the door.
"You. You lied to us?"
"Yes!!! I'm such a LOSER, I'm SORRY!"
Agustín sighed, and he gently knocked on the door yet again.
"Please. Open up. I need to tell you something."
Luisa somehow heard him through her wails, and opened the door. She had tears running down her cheeks, her lips were wobbling. It hurt his heart. He motioned for her to bend down, and he held her face in his hands.
"Did you lie to us...because you were embarrassed?"
"...yeah."
Julieta pushed a strand of her hair back, looking plenty worried.
"Luisa, mi bebé. You didn't have to hide this from us."
"She's right, amor. You thinking we'd think of you as...as a whore, that's AWFUL! Mija, we're proud of you no matter what you do for a job, no matter what you WEAR. You're my lulu, remember?"
Luisa wiped her face with the back of her hand, still sniffling.
"I...I don't have to quit?"
"Do you like working here?"
"Yes."
"Are you safe working here?"
"Yes."
"Then no. You do not have quit."
Julieta nodded, kissing her forehead.
"Just. No more lies, okay? We're your parents. You can tell us ANYTHING. And we will absolutely support you."
Agustín chuckled, lightly pinching his little girl's absolutely adorable cheeks.
"Come on now, wash your face, we wanna order some drinks."
"You...want me to serve you?"
"Of course! And we're looking forward to giving you a huge tip!"
Luisa finally smiled, and after cleaning herself up and cracking their backs in a hug, they got back outside, with Luisa looking more ready then ever. Pepa and Félix looked surprised, before Félix laughed.
"Holy shit- we just can't fucking escape the kids for a night, eh? Good for you mija, proud of you!"
"...thanks, tìo, a lot."
"This is sweet and all, and I LOVE how you look mija, but if I don't get a sweet in me, I'm going to thunder."
Luisa loved her family. ESPECIALLY her papi.
