The final day. The many questions.
Tumblr media
The season finale,… I had only came across one leak (about Lila), other than that I didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t very hopeful, but I did had expected some minimum things and they just didn’t happen. No reveal, at least not the Ladybug-ChatNoir one. No Adrien finding out about his father,… And didn’t Astruc say that by season 5 everyone was gonna know one another’s identities?
Anyway,… i’ll go into more detail below the break. I’ll be as brief as possible on the things that I’ve seen the fandom has already talked about.
“[…] instead that he remembers the times I tried to be a good father.” Seriously?? Were the writers trying to make a joke here? Someone needs to go tell Rapunzel to not remember Mother Gothel for the years she had her imprisoned but for the food and paint that she provided her. 🙈
The wish… The wish that has the fandom talking.
Tumblr media
At first I had thought his wish was something like “I wish for the perfect world that I have in mind”. But then the “What do you sacrifice?” part would make no sense. His soul in exchange for a perfect world? Yeah right, because a man that has done the things that he has must have a soul that is worth gold for the universe. I think that perfect world thing was put there to distract us from what really happened.
I read someone saying how the wish didn’t make sense because if Emilie hadn’t come across the peacock miraculous or a damaged peacock miraculous then nothing would have happened. No Hawk Moth, no need for Master Fu to hand the miraculous, etc. I agree. But I don’t think his wish was to change the past. It only changed the present. Everyone still remembered the alliance rings and… everything. Nothing really changed about their past.
The thing is that his wish apparently did at least two things: heal Nathalie and bring Emilie back to life. I say ‘apparently’ because the writers love to be playful and contradict the things they once wrote for previous episodes. That could be Amelie and not Emilie. Yes, definitely. It could be.  But then why make Emilie and Gabriel fly together and glow like that? Red herring? Could be, but it would be too much, wouldn’t it?
My second thought was that Gabriel didn’t really die. He said how he didn’t want to let her go. The man’s not sane, so, could it be that he asked for his soul to inhabit his wife’s body? I mean, Emilie was already dead. She was a corpse forced into staying ‘alive’ because of the coffin thing he had put her in. And he was someone whose soul was still here, but his body was disintegrating. So, each had a half. But then I remembered Nathalie. If Gabriel went into Emilie’s body, then how is it that Nathalie healed? Then I remembered an episode from Once Upon a Time where one heart was used to keep two people alive. I know, that’s a different show, but as I have said before, the writers have “borrowed” things from other shows before. And wasn’t that Gimmi kwami made out of Tikki and Plagg?
Could it be that his wish was for Adrien to have two parents or something on that line?  I would like to think that they didn’t make the wish scene so vague just for nothing.
Personally I didn’t like the “true form” of Plagg and Tikki. Instead of magical beings they looked like aliens from outer space. Also, I prefer the idea of a small kwami holding so much power. That could had been used as a way of saying “don’t judge by appearances”.
Tumblr media
Gabriel... I knew they were going to give Gabriel a “redemption”.
It can’t be compared what Gabriel has done to what Chloè has done, yet, they made him look good. Sentimental background music and all. It’s ridiculous. And what I find most… let’s say ‘interesting’, is how there’s a portion of the fandom that seems to really have forgiven Gabriel. “Poor him, he sacrificed his own life for his wife and son”. I can’t. My head can’t process that. And I have a hunch that if something like that had been written for Chloè, the fandom wouldn’t had been as forgiving with her.
I’m waiting to see how they’re going to redeem Lila.  I find annoying this new Lila super spy, expert in electronics and disguise.
The Bug Noir costume… I had expected something different. The combination of these two miraculous is the key to make a wish. So, the transformation alone, I would had expected it to be something more dramatic and the costume to be way more than just a mash up of the two costumes. I read someone saying she looked like a goddess. Ok,… The dots on her eyes were too much in my opinion. And excuse me, but for showing how her outfit looked did they really had to use those points of view??? There was a moment where the “camera” was focused on her bottom. Come on! Don’t do that.
And what about Gabriel being able to use the venom power without being transformed?!  Where did that come from? Did I miss an episode where they talked about this? For how long has he known he could do that? If the writers are going to bend the rules like that then Gabriel is the worst villain ever! I mean, he only needed three people to have succeeded in getting the miraculous.  No need to do any of what happened in this finale. Use one akuma to create a villain. Brainwash that person into pretending to want to kidnap himself and Tomoe. When Ladybug and Chat Noir show up to help Tomoe and Gabriel use the venom power to paralyze them and take the miraculous.
It is ‘curious’ how the power of the miraculous could be shared to so many people. I would had thought there would be a limit or that at least the effect would be less powerful since it was being spread worldwide, but nop. And did he really transferred the powers of all the kwamis to all that people? I mean, back in the first episode Gabriel couldn’t bear all that power. What changed? Because it was channeled through the ring? Sorry, but that for me is another example of lazy writing.
They wanted to have someone using the Ladybug and the Cat miraculous at the same time, ok. But couldn’t they have come up with a different way to do that? Adrien was completely taken out of the battle!
I don’t like how he didn’t learn about his father being their enemy. The “she wanted to protect him” excuse is not enough for me. How is it her right to decide what he can know? At the very least they could had added a quick scene with Emilie or Nathalie telling her not to tell him, that they would do that. And… I don’t know… if at some point Adrien finds out the truth and that Marinette knew and didn’t tell him, he could feel betrayed and he would be right if got mad at her for not telling him. Thing that, of course, in this show would never happen.
Another thing… What was the point of sending Adrien and Kagami to London? I think I remember either Gabriel or Tomoe saying something like it was to protect them. Ummm…. they still received the evil fairy dust. So, I repeat, what was the point?
Oh… What was this scene with Marinette playing Tinker Bell and doing something with the miraculous? Gabriel needed this high-tech lab to reshape the miraculous, yet she can do it in her room? Unless they tell me that she only placed a gemstone over the kwami’s symbols to make the miraculous a bit more discreet, this scene wouldn’t make sense.
Something else that doesn’t make sense. In the beginning of the second episode of this season when they added that ridiculous scene of Su-Han on his hands and knees asking for forgiveness, he said he was going back to the temple to get some help. It seems like in the way he forgot what a big threat Hawk Moth with all those miraculous was. Someone could tell me that he was busy training Luka, Jagged and Penny. First, when Luka left, he went right away looking for Su-Han? And even if that had been the case, Migration was episode 13. What was Su-Han doing all the time before that. And there’s still another thing. According to Su-Han a guardian cannot be a miraculous holder; I imagine he would say the same about an apprentice. Then, if he knows how powerful Hawk Moth was, wouldn’t it be more useful training them in mastering the use of a miraculous instead? There are supposed to be many miraculous boxes. That was said back in season… 3? Again, this is lazy writing. The decisions the characters take don’t make sense.
And there’s something about the end that doesn’t make sense and that also showed Marinette acting wrongly. The miraculous are incredibly powerful, which makes them incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands. Hawk Moth was no more. How is it that Su-Han didn’t ask for the miraculous? He should had taken them away back to the temple where one would like to assume they would be better protected under the eyes of all the order of the guardians. Sure, we saw that weird scene with Lila, but they don’t know about that. As far as they know there’s no longer a thread that requires magical powers.
And the part where I say Marinette acted wrongly is in not having renounced to the miraculous herself and to her role as guardian. Any truly mature and responsible person would had done that. Season 4, she lost the miraculous. Ok, she was fooled by Felix when he helped Hawk Moth steal the miraculous. She thought it was Adrien and not Felix. Still it should had been enough to revoke her role as holder and guardian. Everyone can make mistakes, yes. Everyone deserves a second chance, definitely. But since we’re taking about such powerful objects, the rules should be more strict.
And then again this season. She lost. She just was lucky that Gabriel’s wish wasn’t a destructive one. This is more than enough for Su-Han to have said “Thank you, but this is it”.
I go back to the point that she’s been portrayed as this mature person. A mature person would had made the sacrifice of loosing her memories if that meant the safety of such powerful objects. And thinking about it… who says that she “has” to officially renounce to being a guardian? Just hand Su-Han the miraculous and keep your memories. Maybe go train at the temple and when she becomes an adult and a trained guardian then she can receive back the miraculous box.
Oh, I almost forgot. How is it that she hadn’t figured out that Gabriel was Hawk Moth? Hadn’t she learned from Felix’s tale that Gabriel had the peacock miraculous? One plus one is two. You learn that Gabriel used the peacock miraculous to create Adrien. You know that Hawk Moth lives somewhere in Paris. You’ve seen Hawk Moth using the peacock miraculous. Then…
Astruc clearly wanted to create something epic. I don’t know if as a goodbye or if was trying to convince someone that he was more valuable in the writing team. For me the finale was too weird, too rushed and surreal. It was chaos. But it seems the fandom loved it, so that’s that. Wonder how long before they announce the series have been authorized for more seasons.
Wonder how much longer they’re gonna keep postponing the reveal. It is so unnecessary to postpone it. There are shows where the heroe’s identity was revealed in the first season (sometimes even in the first episode) and that didn’t affect the show in a negative way, like people loosing interest. I think they are more aware than they’re willing to accept that their writing is not the best and they don’t want to burn the one thing that the fandom has been waiting for so many years.
For season 6 I would expect them to come up with a seriously big bad antagonist. I mean, all the power from all the team should be enough to neutralize just about any threat.
As an ending to this post i want to point out the amazing work of the artists involved. The lighting, the textures, the composition. Personally that was my favorite thing about these two last episodes. Would had been awesome if the writers had put this much effort.

Kuro Neko Half Notes - All That Remained
I can't do it! I fucking hate this episode! The writing is so fucking garbage! I know fucking 12 year-olds smarter than these 14-15 year olds.
Prepare for the utmost salt since, what was it? Migration! That one!
I will preface this saying that yes, I do know the main conflict of season 4. Lady is Guardian and Chat is getting shafted. But holy fuck is it so fucking bad.
First off, the role of Guardian should never have fallen on Ladybug. Master Fu was an irresponsible, horrible mother fucking adult for pulling that stunt. Marinette is still a fucking child and shouldn't have all that responsibility thrust on her shoulders. I don't care how special a ladybug she is, absolutely awful. Shame. Shame on all y'all!
Adrien, buddy, read the room!! And again, another instance where I can see the trauma peeking through but it still doesn't feel right. I can give it to him that his first thought would be to overreact, thinking he wasn't needed and have that absolutely crush him. That I get, but not that reaction. For the abuse he suffers as per the writers of the show, you'd expect a more taken aback, heartbroken response. Him not letting her see him break down, renouncing his kwami without a hint of what he was doing, and running off. With his reaction in the episode, I was honestly waiting for him to throw the ring in a dumpster. Enjoy dumpster diving, m'lady.
Then there is the conflict of Plagg not knowing how to fucking just say things plainly to a fucking child. And darling Marinette just assuming that Chat being in love with her was the entire problem. That was part of the problem, but again, a double edged sword. On one hand, Marinette, for all her "maturity" should have had some inkling to Chat as a partner and friend, but feels like she disregarded him. Then ol Chat. We need to working on timing, response, and a level of emotional maturity that is sorely lacking. Again, he feels more like an entitled little bitch ass white boy than an abuse victim. Maybe Daddy dearest doesn't love or spend enough time with him, but not how Gabriel is supposedly treating him.
Oh! And let's not forget the absolute best part of the damn episode. Seeing that Ladybug's "ideal man" is just Adrien. Ultimately proving at this point that she really doesn't love Chat Noir or his antics and is utterly obsessed with Adrien that you're only perfect if you are him. Fuck you, Astruc. You hear me? Fuck you.
I hate Kuro Neko. I fucking hate it so fucking much.

Isekai'd as Chloe
Tumblr media
You were watching Miraculous Ladybug on your phone as your bus got hit by a truck. You died, it sucks. But a godly being gives you the chance to start anew in a brand new world. Sadly it's Miraculous, with all the plotholes, and flat characters, and don't forget worshipped while being a sexual abuser Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir. Could your day get any worse? You shouldn't have asked because you were reborn as Chloe and forgot who Papillion was. Someone wanted to see you suffer, that was sure! But you wouldn't give them the satisfaction. It was time to throw canon out of the window and make Miraculous a better show or in your case world!
Main Pairing: Reader/Luka Couffaine/Marinette Dupain-Cheng
Tumblr media
Prolog: Why me? Why?!
It was a normal day in your little comfortable life.
Nothing was amidst and nothing was also exciting.
But it was alright.
You were sitting on the bus on your way to the library. You wanted to check out some new books and manga’s. You needed new reading material. Maybe you could find a new series which would excite you?
In your hand was your phone and you watched for like 100000 times the only good episode of Season 3 from Miraculous Ladybug it was Silencer. You loved Lukanette and it hadn’t any stupid Adrien drama.
God, how you hated Adrien/Chat! How you hated Thomas Astruc and his lackey that worshipped the ass of this sexual abuser who they created mind you. You bet anything that it was some kind of self-insert fantasy of Astruc self like with Aang from the Last Airbender and Bryke.
You couldn’t explain in another way, why Adrien was always in the right even if he was wrong, and poor, sweet Marinette had dozens of traumas to deal with and was ALWAYS IN THE WRONG WHATEVER SHE DID!
Empowering young girls, your ass.
They were grooming kids into thinking it was okay to harass girls with dates and nicknames and flirty behaviour because she was just playing hard to get and would on day magical say yes!
If you heard one more time how Adrien and Marinette were meant to be, even if them being together let the world end like two times, you would stab someone!
Preferably Astruc.
You signed and then cooed at Luka’s love declaration to Marinette. You have heard it so many times, but you had to agree with Tikki it was one of the most beautiful ones you have ever heard.
How you wished someone like Luka would confess to you like that.
Or how you wished to meet someone like Marinette and give her all the love she deserved.
You liked both of them together, but at the same time, you would want them as boyfriend and girlfriend.
Well, love triangles were so out, polyamorous relationships were the right thing!
You were so caught up in your little mussing, that you nearly didn’t hear the horn of the truck that was nearing your bus.
But you heard the cries and screams of the other passengers as the truck was before your bus.
You looked up and stared at the scarred face of the bearded man on the wheel of the truck and thought one thing: “Why do I have to die like in a cliché isekai anime!”
When you woke up, you had the strangest sensation all over your body and your head was like underwater.
What a freaky dream you had!
You dream, you died and some godly being gave you the chance to be reborn into a new world. It let you reborn into the last show you watched which was Miraculous.
You remember how hard you protest in your dream since you had a love/hate relationship with the show, but this god or whatever was kinda an asshole and said it was your own fault for watching it.
Then it said that you should make the best out of your new life and that he had to take away an important plot point from your memory because you would surely end the show in one instant if you remember it and itself and itself colleagues wanted to watch you struggle. It said to grow, but the little mischief grin told you another story.
Thank anything that it was just a fucked-up dream.
You rubbed your head and let out a yawn. You would sleep a bit more, you were still tired.
So you snuggled up into your bed and tried to fall asleep again.
Just…something was off.
The bed was too big…
The pillow to fluffy…
The blanket to fine…
That…was…not…your…bed!
Scarred you jumped up and let out a familiar scream. It was not your normal voice, but you have heard it before.
Now you were even more scared.
And when you saw the room you were in you nearly pissed yourself.
It wasn’t a room, but a hotel suite you know.
A hotel suite you know from a specific french cartoon!
You didn’t know how, but you found the bathroom and stared at the person in the giant ass mirror before you.
Blond hair, blue eyes, tanned skin and a satin PJ with little bumble bee’s.
You.
Were.
Chloe.
Bourgeois.
“The gods…hate me.”, you said in Chloe’s voice and seeing how the mouth in the mirror moved along, was the final nail in the coffin of it being a dream.
You were reborn as Chloe rich-bully-brat Bourgeois.
You wanted a drink, no better a whole bottle of Tequila!
You wouldn’t and couldn’t survive like this!

I was just rereading Insomniacs Anonymous (which, good stuff 👍👍) and I was just wondering if you've seen Miraculous season 5 yet? And if so, thoughts?
Why thank you~ ✨
And yes! I have seen Miraculous Season 5. You might notice in one of the A/Ns in Insomniacs Anonymous I say that the story won't be following Season 5. Mainly because the story starts somewhere in Season 4 and diverges from canon from there, you know how that goes.
As for Season 5... I think this season made me realize that this genre is not meant for me. Yes, it's superhero media (and I love superhero media; I still need to catch up on Invincible before they release the rest of Season 2), but the genre itself is very different. Like how Captain America: Winter Soldier is action (you could even make an argument that it has aspects of the thriller genre), while She-Hulk is comedy. They're both superhero mediums, but the content and storytelling are completely different.
In general, I have a very complicated relationship with Miraculous Ladybug. I don't read fanfiction for it anymore, and I dropped a lot of the MLB blogs I used to follow.
A lot of my problems aren't even from Season 5 but comes from the show altogether. The characterizations are very inconsistent, and the writers often ignore their own worldbuilding. They'll create hard rules and then backtrack.
I'm not a huge fan of how Thomas Astruc handles the show and some of the characters. Keep in mind, this is the same man that once said Jesus Christ used a Miraculous, before he rescinded the statement when he realizes oh fuck this is a bad idea.
I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that there is so much potential, but at the end of the day, this isn't the genre for it. Their focus is on something else, so I can't judge it based on what genre I want it to be.
It's also a little disappointing because there are so many other cartoons that are limited by their ratings as well but they can do so much more with it. Like, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is rated PG. That movie had depth and character growth and never once lost its charm and humor.
But I know there are those that really enjoy it, and honestly? It makes me really happy. Buggachat has some amazing art; her Bakery "Enemies" AU is an incredible display of love for the show. She also has some great analysis posts about the series, and Season 5, that I would recommend. There was a post she made about the Season 5 finale that made me appreciate it more. There's also frostedpuffs who makes beautiful pieces of art and fanfiction.
I'm never going to criticize anyone that enjoys it. I know what it's like to be interested in a piece of media that gets a lot of contention and discourse. With the rise in popularity with DPxDC, I've seen a lot of posts that gave bad faith interpretations of Danny Phantom because they didn't try to look into the show beyond the tropes they saw and disliked. Hell, just yesterday I saw the most rancid take on a beloved character that had absolutely no depth or nuance.
There are so many times when I'll see these posts and just know they've got it all wrong. Because they don't love the show. Sometimes they know the show, but they don't love it. You know what they say about authors and directors and creators who get their hands on a character they hate- they ruin them. Because they don't love them.
I don't love Miraculous Ladybug. There are parts about the show that I wasn't fond of, and then I'll see analysis posts about how the episode fits into the series as a whole, and you know what: they make sense. I couldn't have thought about it that way, because I simply don't love the show like they do. And I don't have to.
I don't think I'll watch Season 6 when it comes out. I was morbidly curious about Season 5 after the Season 4 finale, but knowing that the studio is hoping to produce 8 season total, I don't think I can commit to that. The show just isn't for me, and it's time I accept that and move on.
I'll still play in my little corner of the playground, but I think otherwise I'll just stand aside and let everyone else play with their toys how they want to.

Related to the Zoé ask you responded earlier: what’s your opinion on Chloé? Do you think she can still become a better person?
Because, personally, I do. And just as you, I hope Zoé can help her in that.
I just think people take Thomas Astruc way too seriously. I’m not arguing whether you should like him or not, he’s just a normal person after all and it’s fine if you dislike him.
But he’s trolled us a lot of times. When people asked him about Felix, he always said his concept get dumped. Instead he was recycled as Adrien’s cousins.
Or, like, before the firsts “hints” of Chloé humanity, he always said on Twitter she was just a bad person. But I think it’s more complicated than that, otherwise why show her struggle with her mother?
I was skeptical when we found out Zoé is Chloe’s half-sister, but I gotta say I like the idea. She seems very sweet and I hope they can get along eventually.
What are your thoughts on it?
I absolutely agree with you.
People take what Astruc says on twitter way too seriously, considering he’s constantly playing devil’s advocate, trolling, and straight up lying to us about things in the show. That’s all not even mentioning language barriers and the like. It’s his way of combating spoilers, and just because he implies something, doesn’t mean at all that it’s true.
I find it kind of frustrating that everyone is hating on Chloe’s arc when we have absolutely no idea where it’s going. We DON’T know that she wont get a redemption, but everyone acts like that’s definitely the case and attacks the creators of the show over it.
People act like her betrayal was completely out of left field, as if it wasn’t HEAVILY foreshadowed in Miraculer and just..... made sense.
Like, who cares about what the guy on twitter who constantly lies to us says? Let’s look at the ACTUAL TEXT of the show.
Chloé didn’t just randomly turn against Ladybug. Hawkmoth, a grown ass man who has known her since she was a toddler, decided to specifically prey on her insecurities and weaknesses. He tried it in Miraculer, and it didn't work (which took SO MUCH WILLPOWER FROM HER??), so he planned it out more thoroughly and tried it again... after making sure she was feeling as vulnerable as possible.... by akumatizing her parents.
Her turning point was choreographed like an akumatization! The grunting, the trying to the resist, the shot of the person's head being hung.... and then looking up at the camera and agreeing with Hawkmoth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And why? Because that's basically what happened to Chloé, just without the magical assistance. Akumatizations happen when Hawkmoth preys on people's emotional vulnerabilities when they're at their weakest..... and that's exactly what he did to her.
Chloé isn't a great person. And yes, she is a brat..... but that doesn't mean she's incapable of change. It doesn't mean she can't try to be better. She was trying! But the fact of the matter is that trying is hard, especially when the supervillain of the series is a man who is a master of manipulating people at their lowest. Chloe's attempt at being a better person was put to the test, and she failed.
But she wasn't happy about it.
Once Miracle Queen failed, Chloe stood there and let Ladybug pluck the miraculous off her head.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then, in her shame, she tried to flee the country.
Really, I need to emphasize this. When Miracle Queen lost, Chloé let Ladybug take her miraculous off and then declared that she would flee the country. She didn't swear revenge on Ladybug. She didn't declare herself a threat. (and no, saying “im not your fan anymore!” is not declaring yourself a threat). She just seemed....... angry, yes, but mostly ashamed.
She tried to be a better person and failed, yes. But that just means she has to try harder. And maybe she'll never be Queen Bee again, but she'll have to accept that she doesn't have to be a superhero to be a good person.
Literally the scene Chloé’s in right after her betrayal is THIS:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ACTUAL TEXT of the show portrays what is at worst a tragedy (a young girl being manipulated by a man at her most vulnerable to do something she regrets) and at best a redemption in the making (remember how the Ba Sing Se arc ended for Zuko?).
.... But everyone ignores it because....... “thomas astruc, the person who constantly says weird things on twitter, said some weird things on twitter". And honestly that makes me sad, because I think this is a really interesting and engaging arc so far.
Chloé’s a brat. She’s been a brat the entire time. She doesn’t want to be a brat anymore. She was relying on being Queen Bee to be her big break, but she lost that privilege..... and now she has to rely on herself to get her out. She wont get better instantly. I’m sure she’ll continue to be a brat for a while— but, to me, the show always has and still is implying that she’s trying.
And, I dunno, Zoe’s inclusion in the show sounds to me like their way to move Chloé’s arc forward.

What's up with people manipulating, abusing or blackmailing Chloe? I mean she was blackmailed by her bulter to be nice, Hawkmoth manipulated her to join him and her mom definitely abuses\neglects her and her dad neglects her. Yes, her dad is neglectful, he doesn't give her proper affection and love, he only gives her material things so he doesn't have to spend time with her. And then Thomas acts like she's not a victim or she doesn't have problems.
I'm not saying she is justified because a lot of people act like if you mention Chloe's abuse, your saying she's justified being a brat.
Believe me, I’m a strong advocate for Chloe redemption, and I don’t condone a majority of the bad things she’s done in episodes like “Queen Wasp” and “Miracle Queen”.
My problem is with how Astruc’s team portrays her as a character by setting up two parents who are neglectful in some way (Audrey doesn’t care to know her daughter’s name, and while Andre tries to be nice to Chloe, he only buys stuff for her instead of actually acting like a parent) and saying “Chloe isn’t abused! She’s rich, and rich people are always happy.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even though a recurring theme with Adrien as a character is the emotional neglect he suffers at the hands of his father, yet we’re always supposed to feel bad for him because he’s a main character. Seriously, I spend a lot of time ragging on Adrien, but even I know Gabriel treats him like crap to the point where he abused him so hard, he caused the world to end (Cat Blanc).
Why is it okay to brush off the poor upbringing Chloe had, but Adrien gets all the sympathy in the world? Just because Chloe gets a lot of privileges as being part of the 1% doesn’t mean she had an okay upbringing. Both her and Adrien have been treated poorly by their parents in some way, but while one’s poor treatment isn’t acknowledged, the other’s poor treatment is constantly acknowledged.
Obviously, this doesn’t do much to lessen the “Miraculous Ladybug is sexist!” argument.

What happened between Astruc and Zag regarding Chloé?
Okay! So I have talked about this a couple of times, but never really consolidated everything. But I will give you a full run down.
Now in early season 1, when things were getting established Zag had his hands deep in the show. (Astruc only wrote about 4 episodes I think). So ML was pretty heavy regulated. It was episodic and meant to be a monster of the week kind of show.
Now, with season 1 performing Phenomenally (Being Zagtoons most popular show (by a mile) and the fans LOVED Astruc on twitter (yes there was a time Thomas astruc was beloved). Zag decided to give Thomas more of the reins and creative freedom.
During which Season 2 and Season 3 were being worked on together. And this was the introduction of 3 new heroes, Carapace, Rena Rouge, and Queen bee
So Jeremy Zag, his favorite character (Or one of them, Was Chloé) so seeing that Astruc was making Chloé the bee hero. He thought.
"MARKETING" and made a big deal revealing the three hero designs, and spending money on making merch.
The Problem was, Chloé was a fake out and not meant to be one of the 'Heroes'. This really pissed of Astruc and it is believed this is where Thomas and Jeremy really started butting heads
(Now this part is where information is more speculative and less definitive)
But Thomas never liked Chloé's Character, and had ZERO intention of giving her a proper redemption character arc Her involvement was just going to be the Queen's battle arc and that would be the last of her appearances (this of course is speculation). But, most of the writers LOVED Chloé and were aligned with Zag. Wanting to give her more depth.
So this is where Chloé's writing starts to take a turn, making her appear much more sympathetic. (See Despairbear, Zombizou, as examples)
Astruc hated it. And the problem for Astruc is this, Chloé got popular.
And whether this was the initial inspiration or simply just became some sort of projection. Chloé became a stand in for Zag in Astruc's mind.
Anyway, it started to become a serious point of contention between Zag and Astruc.
Astruc didnt want Chloé to be an official part of the team, while Zag wanted her to get her redemption arc. This went back and forth, but eventually, Thomas won out. (Another speculation on how Thomas got his way was threatening to walk)
Zag started seeing a lot of what Astruc had in store, (and having disagreed with a lot of what Astruc was proposing earlier on) decided to make his own movie (miraculous Awakening) This aspect was a massive f*** you to Thomas because budget that could have been used for the show, was now being used for this movie that was basically Zag saying "Lol this is the ZAG CUT"
Which us viewers can see on full display in 'Queen Banana'
So after season 3, Thomas doubles down on Chloé = Zag mentality. And decides to make Chloé unredeemable, but replaces her with a new bee to sort of 'Satiate fans'
Which is sort of the problem with Zoe as a character. She is created for the soul purpose of being a replacement of Chloé. Which happens in shows, but the motive really just... its so clearly forced it hurts.
That whole movie debate was basically Thomas' personal beef with Zag given form (That is all but confirmed by Thomas himself)
Now I think Thomas is leaving after season 5, but I am not sure on that.
And thats basically the whole debacle in a nutshell.
Two ego maniacs clashing resulting in this.

Ml Meta analysis: Adriens current absents, season 4 structure and theory on whats to come
Here I am back again with my endless rambling.
I'm just as worried for our cat son as everyone else (maybe even more) which is why I tried figuring out for my own sanity why he is so absent currently.
Upfront I wanna warn yall that I wrote this post in one rush this night and therefore had no time to do alot of editing. So things can probably get a bit more messy than usual but I tried to write it clearly, while writing 2 other ml essays as well. This is the one drawback of having so many episodes in such a short time, I have no time to write my posts x3 I had another theory planned for before Optigami airs but I don't think I can manage before tomorrow.
But let's not waste any more time. Grab a snack and here we go:
It's 2am right now but I think I just realized why Adrien/Chat Noir is being sidelined so much recently.
Sure, yes, it'll come into play in the very obviously set up Ladynoir drama later on but what I wanna talk about now is more the structure of how s4 is most likely written in terms of both Marinettes and Adriens side of the story. And then deep dive a little on why I think so.
You see season 4 is now reaping what has been built up from s1-s3, but this also includes that you have to take the time now to properly recreate the new possibilities out of the loose pieces of the broken status quo.
Seriously, season 4 has to handle and reinvent ALOT. The show got now officially announced to have 7 seasons, which is exactly the amount of seasons Astruc said they have story for. I couldnt find the official tweet from Thomas himself but I one from another source:
Tumblr media
And now look take a look at the possible shows structure:
Tumblr media
- s1-s3 was the first status quo and built up everything so now they can pay off after pay off while...
-... S4 is now the transitional season where the old status quo gets left behind as we work towards the new one.
-I have nothing to proof this of course, but in the same sense it would now make sense that s5-s7 where/are planned to play out under the final status quo. If I'm not wrong at first the show was under contract for 5 seasons, which would mean that after the transitional season 4 there was only 1 season of the final status quo for sure. Still, done right it could have been worth the wait. But this isn't where Miraculous will end. The show actually got the 7 seasons the creator wanted and THIS is how I think the long term plan makes the most sense. Nothing all too complicated but still hella effective in its execution.
But now back to our two main characters, because Marinettes and Adriens development are the two aspects that will raise the show to the intense heights of the s5-s7 status quo.
From s1-s3 Marinette was the active player but she was hardly involved with the actual PLOT of the show, since most of the plot and backstory of the show lies directly with the Agreste family. She only started to get her own plot when she literally created a new one by getting involved with the miraculous lore, because the closest Marinette got to the Agreste plot was "The collector".
Adrien in the other hand was always literally right in the middle of the plot but he wasn't enough of an active player to bring us further either.
Season 4 is now going to add the missing parts for both of them and as the very beginning of the season showed us: there are going to do it SEPERATLY.
Tumblr media
This is why "Truth" and "Lies" have been structured the way they are (One Marinette-centric the other Adrien-centric). Yes, Marinette and Adrien are meant to end their story victoriously together, but they are simply not the people they have to be to become such a powerful team. Certain aspects of their journey they have to do... basically disconnected from the other one. The "Miracle Queen" endcard shows it quite nicely as well where they are heading now: away from each other.
Tumblr media
Obviously the season started with Marinette growing into her new guardian status including everything miraculous related, since she is the main lead and because the new ways the episodes can now utilize everything Miraculous need to be established first before we deep dive into the messed up Agreste mystery.
So while I totally agree that it is annoying to get so little Adrien/Chat Noir content currently I also understand the practicality behind it. As I said, before s4 Marinette was the active main character who mostly didn't really have her own plot. So now adding her plot aspect and have her ACTIVELY figure everything needed out means that right now Marinette/Ladybug is the active focus main character who is solving a huge part of her s4 character arc. That simply drowns out Adrien as the currently still mostly-inactive secondary main character who, yes, may be right in the middle of the shows emotional + villain plot/lore/backstory, but that side of the story simply isn't in focus at the moment.
And I gotta say, I'm kinda glad they're doing it this way. Because I'm gonna be honest, when the season starts giving us Adrien/family Agreste episodes like "Lies" and "The collector" (in this case "Gabriel Agreste" for example) again, I don't want the narrative to be forced to spend time with something guardian lore based just because they didn't took their time to do it earlier.
Tumblr media
So, as we see on the s4 episode raster "Gabriel Agreste" is episode 9. Honestly, I expect most of it (especially the ones near the beginning, so ep. 5 included) til that episode to be Marinette based the way everything else til now did (besides Lies obviously and Guilt trip didn't hardcore focus on Marinette/Ladybug either and that's because it's after "Gabriel Agreste") in the spirit of "Truth". It's just the needed set up from Marinettes side of the story and I can live with that.
Because we actually saw the change after "Gabriel Agreste" already in "Guilt trip".
Tumblr media
I don't know why some people pretend like Chat almost cataclysming himself after hearing how guilt-eaten Nino is for Adriens sake isn't a huge indicator that the episodes afterwards will not only acknowledge but also DEAL with Adriens/Chats situation and problems. Remember, we are talking about CHAT NOIR here not Adrien Agreste. The show has always portrayed and acknowledged ADRIENS issues very straight forward and with the proper seriousness (especially when it comes to his family), whereas Chat Noir was often mostly used for comedic purposes with some exceptions of his problems being properly delt with (since Marinette/Ladybug was mostly oblivious to them, since Adrien keeps them hidden so well). But now in "Guilt trip" LADYBUG was confronted head-on with just how much negativity Chat has inside and how quickly and extremely he drowns in it.
Sure, correct, the episode also has his negativity "washed away" rather quickly by Ladybug opening up to him on how important he is to her
Tumblr media
But this is in character for both of them as "Lies" very clearly showed us that the way BOTH OF THEM behave here is where the problem lies. There Ladybug was freaked out after Chat threw his life away once again but quickly accepted Chats very direct avoidance of the confrontation, since he seemed to be alright to her.
Something I also find noteworthy here is that Ladybugs dialog is "Seriously, you need to stop doing this to me!", which is.... a VERY Marinette-centric way of acknowledging the problem.
Tumblr media
It completely shifts the issue away from Adriens extremely alarming self-harmful/suicidal tendencies and instead only calls out how it affects Marinette (whose feelings here are definitely valid, don't get me wrong!). It showcases perfectly how unaware Marinette still is of her partners inner tumult at that point and also parallels how Marinette called Adriens life "perfect" at the beginning of the episode (This is no shade towards Marinette, in general the entirety of "Lies" is about showing us just how harmful Adriens Chat Noir persona actually IS to him so these two moments of her being oblivious to Adriens and Chats immense problems very much fits into that episodes narrative and sets up what's about to come. I still have an entire essay in the making for "Lies" but, guys, it's just getting longer and longer. I suck xD).
So the fact that an episode after "Gabriel Agreste" brings this scenario back, just a little different but ALOT more revealing of Adriens immense problems to his partner, is VERY telling. Besides other things it tells us that this happens at the beginning of the arc that deals with (at least) Chats issues since Ladybug is still way too quickly too ready to accept her partner as "completely fine" again just because Chat makes it seem that way (while some negativity increasing guilt bubbles still to stick to him.).
And yet, others have already pointed it out that Ladybug IS noticing what Chat wanted to do and reacted accordingly...
Tumblr media
she just didn't speak of it the way it is because it overwhelmed her, which calls back to Ladybugs "You have to stop doing this to me!" dialog.( For a great breakdown of her dialog HERE is a link to @flightfoot post)
In "Lies" Marinette was way too stressed by her new guardian role to even consider Chats side of it and therefore only spoke of her own, but in "Guilt trip" she's already past that stressful arc. So here she is immediately able to recognize Chats suicidal action for what it is, come to his (much needed) aid and lift her partners spirit the best she can by emotionally opening up to him (which is something we KNOW is incredibly hart for Marinette).
The difference between her reaction in "Lies" and in "Guilt trip" shows that Marinette has her guardian role already mostly handled and is now mentally able to be there for others again, so the extremely Marinette-centric "Truth"-like episodes are mostly passed. Now the episodes can bring Adrien/Chat Noir more into the game again and even shift to "Lies" - like episodes because MARINETTE can pay more attention to him again and isn't faced with something new, important and overwhelming Miraculous related every step she takes.
And THAT is extremely fair from a narrative standpoint.
---
I really need to stop elaborating so much on these posts because I'm only NOW actually getting to the point of where Adriens journey will disconnect for a while from Ladybugs. Sorry guys.
Okay, to understand where I'm going with this I will have to quickly explain how I always saw Chat Noirs place in the Ladybug+Chat Noir vs Hawkmoth war ever since s1.
Because here is the thing: Adrien wasn't able to truly leave the battle field ONCE since the origins. Marinette was completely out of Hawkmoths and Gabriels reach once she detransformed, which balances out her basically being the personification of the good sides force. And Gabriel literally decided whenever or not the battle is even ACTIVE right now! Besides that he is in complete control of his own actions and environment, which gives him all the necessary time, safety and downtime he needs to act as the personification of the evil sides force.
Marinette and Gabriel always knew when they were safe and off the battle field, but ADRIEN never had that and it left him LITERALLY right in the middle of both Ladybugs and Hawkmoths sides.
You see, because before Adrien became Chat Noir he basically was part of Hawkmoths side just by default. He was born into this family, that's his father and lost mother and everything he knows. Adrien didn't/doesn't even have to KNOW that he is part of Hawkmoths side, he's his son at some level he just IS! And I'm not saying this as anything negative, Adrien coming from Hawkmoths side is literally the reason why he became Chat Noir!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because whereas Gabriel is having the time of his damn life as evil terrorist, created out of tragic and sinister circumstances, ADRIEN on the other hand couldn't handle his families environment and very same circumstances anymore and accepted the role as Paris' hero to escape his heritage for a while.
Keywords being: a WHILE.
Something unique about Adrien I always loved is the fact that he is the villains abused, isolated and overworked SON, who becomes a hero to escape his depressing life and YET it was never Adriens intention to LEAVE IT. Adrien merely wanted to use his time as Chat Noir to let of some steam and breath freely while doing some hero work so he can go back into his civilian life and try to one day successfully ment his broken family. He couldn't handle the current situation anymore but he still always saw worth in his family/father. I have SO MUCH respect for that!
But him not intending to leave his family and instead regaining strength as Chat Noir to continue to hold onto it came with the downside of him not being able to fully become part of the good sides people/force either. Hence why Adriens/Chats place always felt so lost in comparison to Ladybugs and Hawkmoths clear positions. He's caught in between their extremes trying to balance out BOTH at the same time. What an impossible task!
So he couldn't put in the same focus as Ladybug into being the good sides force because he is literally burned out from his civilian life on Hawkmoths evil side. But he also couldn't be involved as an ACTIVE member of his fathers evil force, because he chose to find refuge in his friends and as a hero on Ladybugs side.
Adrien unknowingly is part of BOTH the shows two extreme moral sides of good and evil and this season we will see Adrien/Chat Noir grow into his own within BOTH sides as well.
Because he simply couldn't have done so right away in s1. Now after 3 seasons Chat Noir is more than solidly established as one of Paris Heros and his time with Ladybug, the other heros and his normal friends helped him greatly to find his place on the good side. "Lies" set this up as Chat Noirs arcs starting point that now he has to stop connecting "being heroic" strictly with following Ladybug (as Marinette is the STAND IN personification for the good side, she's still a flawed human being like everyone else and not the ultimate force of perfect and good. Big difference.) just as he has to start looking past his fathers sympathetic moments/qualities to see that Hawkmoth isn't a 100%, inhumane monster just because he is the stand-in personification of evil in their fight, but the man he calls Father and still needs to be taken down. (I talked about this in more detail on THIS post)
Adrien has to seperat himself from Ladybugs path and focus on his family and I believe it'll start with the much dreaded (but expected) Ladynoir fight.
Funnily enough, what I'm talking about was actually already set up in "Frozer" I just didn't remember that for a bit. In "Frozer" we saw Ladynoir having a fight which caused Chat Noir to go his own way in the episodes battle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I always found it interesting that the episode didn't had Chats decision, to not follow Ladybugs lead here, turn out to be a huge mistake. Almost every other show would have done so but now I think I understand. This episode and s2 in general SET UP the s4 conflict, s3 LEAD UP to it and now s4 DELIVERS it.
So what happened in "Frozer" is a direct parallel to what about to go down:
Ladynoirs fight will cause Chat Noir to not simply  follow Ladybugs side anymore the way he used to, but note, he DOESN'T leave the good side AND they make up again in the end after Chat saves Ladybug from the akuma. He just does things on his own because he isn't on great terms with her for a while. "Frozer" showed Chats decision to not only NOT be a mistake but also a necessary part of defeating the akuma, just the way it'll be in s4. Damn, Adrien breaking away from Ladybugs side, the way she (unintentionally tho) did at the beginning of the season, to focus more on himself and his family will be the game changing factor, when Adrien will have his completing arc where he goes from "not active character within the villain/backstory plot" to "ACTIVE character within the villain/backstory plot".
And we already saw with Marinette how many fast breakthroughs we get through these completing arcs. Which is also a reason for why Adriens/ Chats arc comes later in the season, because BUDDY. Once Adrien starts to actively uncover his families mystery and fathers secrets Gabriel is SCREWED! Adrien will gain the needed inside knowledge that complements Marinettes Miraculous power; and reunited they can take on whatever the hell kind of scale the Agrestes plan actually is.
So how to end this post? My biggest intention was to raise hope for everybody (myself included lol) who is right now very concerned and upset about how side-lined our boy is at the moment. But I prefer doing so in a way that actually works with canons context instead of sugarcoating what I don't like. And Adriens/Chats current position I definitely do NOT like but accepting it as realistic outcome from s1-s3 and set up for the escalation for both Ladynoir and his home situation gives it the proper purpose and pay off (narrative and character wise) that it SHOULD have.
Basically, the endcards of "Truth" and "Lies" show it perfectly.
Tumblr media
It looks like ShadowMoth is turning a blind eye towards Adrien/Chat Noir because of Ladybugs new guardian status and "greater importance". But Gabriels tunnel vision on Ladybug will leave him vulnerable to his own sons secret actions against him and Gabriel won't see it coming until its already too late.

In Defense of Lukanette/Adrigami
I have recently completed watching the animated superhero television show Miraculous Ladybug for the first time, and I have some thoughts.
Now, before I start rambling, I just want to say that I’m not trying to criticize anybody for their preferred ship in MLB. I’m just trying to encourage employing critical thinking when it comes to the show, the characters, and the plot lines. Even if I don’t convince you in this argumentative essay, it is my hope that you will at least perceive things a little more deeply regarding Miraculous Ladybug.
Okay, so for the most part, Miraculous was a decent enough show. I’m not going to go shouting from the rooftops “F*CK YOU, THOMAS ASTRUC!!!”, as some people are apt to do. He is the show’s creator and is at the liberty to do whatever he likes with it.
However, that doesn’t mean I have to agree with him on everything.
Despite its best parts, the show has a lot of flaws, and even though I could sit here all day complaining about what’s wrong with it, I’m choosing for focus on a single aspect of it (for now): the illusion of the OTP.
The Love Square - which involves Marinette liking Adrien and Chat Noir liking Ladybug, even though Marinette is Ladybug and Chat Noir is Adrien - never made much sense to me, even from the beginning. These are the problems I’ve found with it.
1. THAT’S NOT EVEN HOW LOVE WORKS
Now, I could be wrong, but if you love someone - and I mean really love someone - that love wouldn’t be jeopardized because of the love interest simply wearing a costume. And yes, I understand that Marinette and Adrien’s civilian identities act differently than their superhero ones, but still. THEY’RE THE SAME F*CKING PEOPLE!!! I’ve shouted myself hoarse about this loophole more times than I can count. If they were truly in love, wouldn’t Marinette like Chat Noir as much as Adrien? And wouldn’t Adrien like Marinette as much as Ladybug?
2. THEY DON’T LOVE EACH OTHER
Riding on the back of what I just said, the Love Square only proves that it isn’t true love. If it were, they would love each other regardless of whether they were wearing their costumes or not! And there is simply nothing else I can add to this.
3. THE LOVE SQUARE FEELS SHOVED DOWN MY THROAT
The production team for the show has missed out on the chance of some excellent character-building scenes in favor of the Love Square. They’ve been trying to sell it to us ever since the show began. Sure, the Love Square has had its moments, but it ultimately would not suffice as an actual romantic relationship. One of the worst things the show has done is scrap Lukanette and Adrigami. I think deep down all of us knew it was the move they were gonna make, but they dated for like TWO EPISODES. Even if they weren’t gonna keep them, they should’ve at least showed the relationship on more levels, at least to show Marinette and Adrien maturing emotionally.
4. THE REVEAL WOULDN’T CHANGE ANYTHING
Some people take the side of “Oh, but once they find out their secret identities, they’ll love each other!” THAT’S NOT WHAT WOULD HAPPEN AT ALL!!! Marinette would only love Chat Noir because he was Adrien, and Adrien would only love Marinette because she was Ladybug! Even people who support the Love Square agree on this!! They try to present a solution in which Ladybug falls in love with Chat Noir first and Adrien for Marinette, but that too is unrealistic. In the show’s timeline, Marinette and Adrien have been superheroes for three years. I mean, COME ON.
And 5. IT WOULD BE TOO DANGEROUS
We all saw what happened in Chat Blanc. Love Square = The End of Days. You can kid yourself all you like, but it’s the truth.
Maybe it wouldn’t unfold quite like Chat Blanc, but Marinette and Adrien becoming romantically attached would provide a vital opportunity for Hawk Moth. It’s not like he’s been the best at planning before, but this would be a hard one to miss.
Perhaps these five reasons aren’t enough to sway you, but they’re good enough for me. And now I turn my attention to the benefits of Lukanette and Adrigami.
1. THEY LOVE THEM FOR WHO THEY ARE
Marinette and Adrien have not always been superheroes, but they’ve always been themselves, and that’s who they are at their core. Luka loves Marinette for who she is, and Kagami loves Adrien for who he is. It’s that simple.
2. FAR LESS CONTRADICTIONS
The dilemma involving identities is nonexistent in a Lukanette/Adrigami scenario. If Marinette and Adrien revealed their identities to Luka and Kagami, well, that would just be the sprinkles on top of an ice cream sundae. The love of my life is a superhero too? That’s so like them. Also, this type of reveal wouldn’t pose any threat Hawk Moth-wise.
3. THEY CAN HELP EACH OTHER GROW
If the Love Square were to happen, I think it would be a den of awkwardness. Adrien has had very little exposure to the outside world, and if he began a romantic relationship with Marinette, a lot of the time it would be Marinette showing stuff and teaching things to Adrien, which might be nice in some cases, but does not sound particularly fetching to me. With Lukanette and Adrigami on the other hand, it would be the two of either couple teaching things and showing stuff to each other. Luka could show Marinette to play guitar, Marinette could teach Luka how to bake (one of my dream Lukanette scenes is one of Marinette passing on her fashion skills to Luka).
I think this could work for Adrigami also. Both of them have been sheltered for all their lives, and I think it would be nice to see them discovering new things together. They could also teach each other the stuff they already know; Kagami could work on her art skills with Adrien, they could teach each other languages, maybe Adrien could show Kagami to play the piano (or whatever that video game was in Gamer), and so on and so forth. And obviously, at some point, one of them would say to the other, “It’s you and me against the world.”
For me, Lukanette and Adrigami are just more appealing, and I can’t see why the show runners don’t feel that way as well. If they’re refusing it in favor of conflict to drive the show, they can provide that conflict through Lukanette and Adrigami. I mean, seriously - Luka and Kagami would be dating superheroes. That doesn’t come without its side effects.
If their reasoning is “we’ve been alluding to the Love Square ever since the show started”, then scrap the Love Square! I think Marinette and Adrien work better in a friend capacity anyway! Besides, changing love interests is a part of life, and doing this in the show would add a bit more realism to a rather unrealistic television program.
In conclusion, Lukanette and Adrigami could send MLB soaring to new heights, and provide a deviation from the same boring old formula.

what the heck was wishmaker (swears ahead)
Ok so I've been hit with the double whammy of the two hilarious trainwrecks that were Crocoduel and Wishmaker... as the more ridiculous of the two, lets talk about Wishmaker. please keep in mind that I literally just watched the episode and I have nothing clever to say this is really just a rant
Firstly... the knowledge that these kids will graduate and move onto lycee? in MY Miraculous Ladybug? (it's more likely than you think). But the sudden "hey, you guys are now mid-teens, time to make choices that will affect the rest of your life" honestly hit different. Suddenly it felt like a real school, with real students that had different goals. If only they, you know, showed us this crap.
Take Marinette, for example. Because, you know, she's the main character. I love how that she's such a feminist icon, that she's gotta choose between her love of fashion, Adrien, her love of design, Adrien, her dual role of Ladybug and the Guardian, and... I guess her love for Adrien? I mean, those are the main things that give her life joy and meaning and will help her choose a career.
I hope you understand that I am so fucking angry that they had to bring Adrien into this, because if anyone in that writers room actually cared about being a good influence on young girls, ADRIEN WOULD NOT BE A PART OF THIS CONVERSATION. Yes, love and being loved is important to individual happiness. We as social creatures thrive on love. But to reduce Marinette, who is supposed to be so capable and able to handle herself, to a girl with a crush, is so demeaning!!! Her value is suddenly being determined over whether or not her love is returned by a boy! What lesson is she supposed to be learning here?!?!
Adrien, by comparison, has a much more poignant conversation with Plagg over what he wants to do in life - he's always modelled, but he's now self aware enough to realise that there are other options and that he doesn't know where to go. As a cusp gen Y/Z (1995), I have never related more to a feeling like that in my life. With the rise of social media came an influx of jobs that didn't even exist when I graduated high school. Influencers did not exist, YouTubers were just beginning to flourish. I still have no clue of the specific path I want to walk down, just a few half baked ideas. Not once do we need to think about who he's in love with. Ladybug factors into the conversation, yes, but it's over his use as a hero. His unrequited love doesn't come up. What's with the double standards here?!?!
Now to the hilarity of the episode - Alec Cataldi. Until now he's just been the host of every show in Paris that isn't the news. Sure, he'd give a friendly roast every now and then, but this time around he's woken up and chosen violence... by telling people at the job fair that their jobs are pointless? The weird thing is that the selection of jobs you actually see seem to be more based on niche art and crafting. These are jobs based on the specific love of the craft that can be successful - homemade ice cream, hand crafted instruments, and wig making all have potential for financial success. Anyway it's the wig making that sets Alec off.. because apparently as a child people made fun of him for having like a disproportionately large afro?
Let's skip the majority of the fight. It's the best part of the episode, because the childhood dreams are hilarious. The best one by far is the guy who wants to be a cucumber, ESPECIALLY because it turns out to be Banana Man (still waiting for his akumatisation), and the way that Ladybug's Lucky Charm is for some random guy that just wants to be a toy dinosaur to hug people is amazing, it's so out of left field and I loved it.
HOWEVER... we also have a question that we've been wanting answered the whole episode: what does Adrien want to do? He can't think of what his childhood dream was, it was a mystery. So of course he gets hit, or he lets himself get hit, who even cares because Chat's competency has been going down faster than Thomas Astruc's ego has been rising... and suddenly I am wishing I never asked because apparently all Adrien ever wanted to do was whatever his parents wanted him to do? Fuck off.
Who in their right mind would even write that? I'm not kidding, he literally says "When I was a kid, I always wanted to be what my parents wanted me to be!" Now, if we'd had further context, like his parents talking about how they wanted him to be kind to others and to be happy with his choices, it would be fine. But all we have is Gabriel's weird emotional abuse and desire for his son to be perfect, attractive, and good at All The Things, as long as he remains the Agreste Cash Cow. WHAT? I'M SORRY, WHAT?!!?! Adrien, honey, you need a therapist, because no, you're not perfect, you're a people pleasing anxious wreck.
Anyway apparently all along Alec just wanted to be the next RuPaul, because that's how we end the episode - Luka now joining the Cursed Knowledge Club, and our titular characters deciding to remain stagnant because like that's how you write a good tv series, you know?
I'm not kidding about RuPaul. Any Drag Race fan will recognise the butchered end quote. Can I get an amen?

Why Lila is Marinette’s Own Fault || Miraculous Why?
(Before I begin, note that this is my opinion over the topic and am no way am bashing anyone’s love for the ship and/or character. I respect who and what you like, therefore expect the same courtesy. However, if this is something you cannot handle, please click the back button as this will be a heavily discussed topic. No flames allowed. Other than that, enjoy.)
So usually in the story, there’s always one or two mean girls who is out to get the main character for some kind of superior reasons to justify. And there’s no reason as to why they act this way just for the sake of being mean.
Like the Ashleys from “Recess”, who tend to pick on kids just for the fun of it sometimes or cause they’re popular.
Same can go for Libby from “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” who was out to get something for what she wants or just to be superior to the other kids in school.
For Miraculous, we already have that kind of character, Chloe Bourgeois, who is the daddy’s girl of the Mayor to get what she wants. And until we had some small character development in season two (which season 3 took it away!!), we had no reason feeling sorry for her and she was just for the convenient plot in the social life for Marinette in the series.
And then… there’s Lila.
Before I get into hand in this, let me note that Lila is not a good person at all in the show. She’s a liar, a manipulator and will do whatever she can to get what she wants. She breaks into homes, steals and molests pretty models. She’s been pretty shown to be just selfish without consequences and unless we get a background story of why she acts this way, she has no excuse. Especially when she teams up with hawkdaddy to now have permission to invade and spy on Adrien whenever she wants? Fuck that.
So in Volpina, Lila is introduced as this pathological liar to get attention in season one. She obviously goes for Adrien cause he’s the famous model after all. Reasonable considering as the new person looking for attention, you seek out the most popular/famous person in the school. That would Adrien.
Though considering with her connections, it would’ve been smarter to try and impress Marinette instead if Lila did her research before she came into the scene. But of course, new person so she wouldn’t know, but whatever.
And we can see Lila easily just says things just to get Adrien’s approval and such.
And so, Marinette follows them around (stalking? really?) because Tikki points out Lila has the book Adrien took from his father’s vault and threw it in the trash.
Now the SMART thing to do would’ve been to see how Adrien would handle the situation and wait for him to leave, if to acknowledge Adrien has a mind of his own and knows when to walk away (which he does). Or at the very least, try to distract them as Marinette while Tikki retrieved the book.
But… no. You transform into Ladybug to lash out at a girl PUBLICALLY, for anyone including Adrien to hear, just to embarrass her and call her out on her lying because she… “hates liars”.
Marinette, you fucking lie ALL the time! Most of those times to Adrien! And I’m not just talking about when in regard to being Ladybug, you hypocritical- (groans)
I can list plenty of episodes: Gamer, Aninmaestro, Ikari Gozen and hell, even Reverser counts! If she hadn’t lied about Marc’s book, Nathaniel wouldn’t have torn it! (sighs)
And before you all start jumping at me saying Lila got what she deserves, I only agree partially. Ladybug, as a public figure and heroine, practically the face of Paris, acted irrationally lashing out at a bystander because of lies which were or were not believable. Lila was broadcasting a post or making the news, she was trying (poorly) to impress a boy. Ladybug gave Lila the Regina George treatment.
Yeah, so you caused an akumatized situation and Lila hates your guts. Hell, I would hate you too. That’s like a celebrity jumping at an innocent bystander when they’re whispering to their friend about a rumor that only the two of them were talking about. You can’t jump to try and stop them and should just let it dispel on its own. At that point, Lila had no real power but you just influenced her.
And… oh boy did things get worse because of this.
Look season 3 was trash (except for moments in certain episodes) and I feel talking about the infamous ‘Chameleon’ physically hurts me but… yeah gotta point out a few things. The whole episode was unrealistic, and it was an obvious ploy to be sympathetic to Marinette with Lila back… but… you’re not fooling me.
So, Lila is still on her lying game, being able to fool the students and the staff?! Okay if you believe a student has so many disabilities without any paperwork proof, you can actually get fired for that for fraud. As someone who worked with education before, that’s just pure incompetence.
So yeah, Marinette comes to school seeing the seats changes to accommodate Lila and upright begins to plot to discredit her for her lies. UM… what happened to trying to start over with Lila after failing to do so the first time?
Oh, that’s right. She gets that way (at least partly) because Lila is sitting next to Adrien. I can understand if it was because they rearranged the seating without her say so but let’s face it. Lila sitting next to Adrien was her real trigger.
So since Marinette failed to acknowledge her mistake the first time, she spends all day trying to prove Lila is lying and in return the class is angry at her. Alya even comes to point out that Marinette is jealous of Lila.
And you know what? Alya is right.
Alya knows at least what Marinette is capable of doing so when it comes to Adrien and how far she’s willing to go. Remember that Alya is the one who encouraged her to break into his locker and steal his phone. So of course, she’s worried Marinette is gonna do something to the new girl.
I don’t blame Alya for doing one of the most competent things in the show: Warning Marinette to NOT go off the handle without proof and not make herself look bad in the process.
And because Marinette failed to do so… she made Lila her enemy AGAIN. It was bad enough you had her as your enemy as Ladybug, but now you get to deal with twice the drama!
Your own fucking fault, Marinette.
Also, the advice Adrien gave? I don’t blame for him for it and neither should you. Yes, his advice is not perfect, but with the options he has on his plate, its hard to do something otherwise.
For every encounter Adrien has had with Lila, it ended up with her being akumatized or a disaster no matter how he tried to handle her. We didn’t get to see how he would resolve in Volpina because of Ladybug’s intervention, but he would try at least in Chameleon and try to get her to see she didn’t need to lie and actually tried to befriend her. At this point, Lila was already triggered by Ladybug and Marinette so she just might have to take Adrien by force instead.
At that point, Adrien just wants to stay away and which he was trying to tell Marinette don’t interact with Lila or confront her cause there’s no way to do so at this point. Maybe he was trying to tell her to wait until her rumors got discredited, but he didn’t say it clear enough for her to understand.
And keep in mind, Adrien is a sheltered child with little to zero social skills taught to him by Nathalie and Gabriel. Hell, we don’t know how his childhood was really like even with Emelie around either and Adrien seems more like the pacifist unless he needs to absolutely step in. And he did by cleaning up Marinette’s mess in ‘Ladybug’. So now he’s gotta suffer being around Lila more because of Marinette making Lila her enemy.
But once again, this is bad writing as the writers of the show obviously forgot what it’s like to live in reality. In the real world, Lila would be immediately discredited without any proof the moment she came back. Not to mention, some of the class have their own connections and have more braincells proven in the previous episodes. Google search and such. A 5-year-old wouldn’t believe these lies in these times. Hey, I believe that because I once had a kid in kindergarten during my time as an afterschool art teacher look at one of my books I illustrated before and said they liked the ‘graphics’.
Kids are fucking smarter nowadays than you think.
The only reason anyone would believe Lila’s lies is if she’s magically influenced with some kind of ‘silver tongue’ spell or something and honestly? It looks like that’s the reason.
I dunno if Thomas Astruc or Zag is trying to insult the kids/adults or insult themselves to say Paris people aren’t that smart. If it’s the latter, you should see what you are doing because I don’t want to believe that because that’s disrespectful.
I know it seems I’m trying to stand up for Lila this portion, but I’m just looking things in a  more realistic and logical way. Did Lila take things too far? Yes, waaaayyy too far and should be arrested for it since she works for Hawkmoth. But it could’ve been handled better and that makes Marinette at fault too.
Part of me wonders if she’s done this before because in Zombiezou, she also causes Chloe to ruin her gift for Ms. bustier. If Marinette didn’t antagonize Chloe in the locker in front of the class, maybe she wouldn’t have done anything. Again, I’m not saying Chloe was justified, but if that was the reason, yeah I can see her doing it for payback.
So to all those fics where I’m supposed to be ‘Boo-hoo’ for Marinette because of what Lila did? Fuck you guys because you need to dig deeper into the story to see both sides and not just make it a pity party where Marinette is the innocent victim.
It’s called “Cause and Effect”.
And considering she made Lila her enemy, Marinette is gonna get effected enough because that’s how karma works.

Asks I got about the “Marinette makes mistakes” tweet:
i-would-rather-be-a-fairy said:
I’m starting to think that the writers don’t particularly like Marinette.
Did Marinette spill coffee on the laps of the writers and they’ve been salty ever since? Because that’s all I can imagine.
Anonymous said:
Is there ANY episode where Marinette doesn't make a mistake and has to learn a lesson? There has to be right?
I feel like there must be? Like, “Silencer” at minimum, but I guess maybe they thought that her trying to combat Roth was her mistake and it got Luka akumatized? It wasn’t portrayed as a mistake though exactly?? (If anything, it just looked like her being awesome, and Luka being akumatized ultimately led to Roth being outed on some level, so it all worked out.)
Even episodes like “Stormy Weather” that really don’t need to be about her mistakes shoehorn in a line about “I should never have left Manon” (if she had, she would’ve been in the ice dome instead of Alya, but okay I guess; dialog choices in this show are so weird).
It really puts episodes into perspective knowing that they have to force Marinette screwing up/learning/apologizing in every episode.

Just curious about that Shanghai tweet: were you the one who sent it? I know there are other people who notice Marinette's unfair treatment, but I just wanted to know if you've ever reached out to Thomas Astruc personally.
Nah, that wasn’t me, I don’t use Twitter.
Plus, if that had been me calling Astruc out, I wouldn’t have blurred the name. I’d want full credit.

I am so irritated by Thomas Astruc's tweet. Do they even realize they're sacrificing Marinette's character and positive Chinese representation to make her chase after a boy and THEN get blamed for it? Yes, you read that right, a bunch of white men in a room decided that a Chinese heroine doesn't deserve to celebrate or learn more about her culture because she's in love with a white boy(who knows more about her own culture than her) and they need to use her as a punching bag. Ugh. At this point?
I am just completely done with the show. Yes, you heard me. DONE! Because the writers have admitted that their entire show is based around their main protagonist suffering, when it SHOULD be about "girl power". I'm not saying Marinette is NEVER allowed to make mistakes, be clumsy, or learn a lesson, but when the writers will literally REFUSE to let her develop and force her to always be in the wrong against ALL LOGIC, that's where I draw the line. As it stands, I can't recommend this show to any one.
I'm pretty much only watching because I don't like to leave shows unfinished(although there are shows I've simply stopped watching, this is the only one I've seriously been following to this extent since it started), and for the few Lukanette moments/other rare moments of Marinette being happy. Because the writers have NO RESPECT for their main character, have ADMITTED as much, and don't see a problem with it, or why everyone is upset. Oh, and they'll block you if you disagree with them.
I really wish I could’ve been in the writing room the day they said, “Hey, let’s make it so our biracial representation is always the one that screws up and has to learn a lesson/apologize for it!

I know comparison is not the best way to say why something is good or bad, but I think "Miraculous Ladybug" is as controversial as it is because "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (a show I watched almost religiously for the first 4 Seasons) did the Lesson Of The Week so much better and came first.
I watched that show for a little over four seasons and I can confirm that the lessons were way more spaced out and balanced (though personally I feel like Dashie got the shaft on most of hers).
Keeping its rules like Miraculous would be like if Twilight was the only one allowed to screw up.

Disney's baby tv show "Sofia the First" genuinely deals with the "mc makes mistakes" so well. Initially, the main character is more prone to making mistakes (even if she’s generally well-meaning and kind), but she actually consistently applies her lessons and grows with them. At some point clearly the writers saw that this character’s development is complete; there is nothing more they can do with her because, due to applying her lessons, she is emotionally mature enough to handle anything they throw her way. Then they made a genuinely smart choice to commit latter seasons to having the mc become a literal guardian of the realm who travels to help other people solve their issues by applying the lessons she has already learned.
The show has a big cast of characters and distributes the lessons equally amongst all of them, as well as having many episodes, even in earlier seasons, where the main character actually /is/ in the right, and the lesson acknowledges that. TBH the show’s ability to consistently develop characters in an episodic format, as well as not disrespecting any of them and being written w/ heart, is impressive. Freaking Thomas Astruc wishes.
THAT WAS BASICALLY EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED; MARINETTE LEARNING LESSONS AND THEN BEING A “GUARDIAN” TO HER FRIENDS AND HELPING THEM LEARN TOO.
ugh, and instead it’s just--nope, she always screws up because it’s the rule
Anonymous said:
WAIT WHAT WAS MARINETTE'S MISTAKE IN NEW YORK?? WANTING ADRIEN TO GO??
APPARENTLY???
Or arguing with him mid-battle but can you honestly blame her after he betrayed her trust like that??
Anonymous said:
“It’s the rules of the show she makes a mistake and learns” SIR it’s season FOUR
I think we were meant to read it as, “a season 4 making Marinette screw up again even if she didn’t actually screw up.”
elflynns-horde-of-stuff said:
So the rule of 'Marinette must always make a mistake and learn something' inspired a little rant. I hope you're okay with this! Because it's usually a good thing for tv shows to have a rulebook for their stories, but they have to be GOOD rules. And this (awful) rule is easily fixed! Which makes it even more frustrating to me!
First. Replace 'Marinette' with 'A character' that way multiple characters get focus and development throughout the series. (At least the would if status quo wasn't God.)
Second. Why does all if Marinette's mistakes have to be huge? Why can't she use the wrong fabric for a design, research, and correct it? Or pronounce a Chinese word wrong and learn more about the language? Or use the wrong ingredient for Guardian related magic? If she has to be learning something every episode, why not allow her to develop skills and hobbies? Why make her miserable, anxious and guilty all the time? What purpose does it serve?
It is moments like this, where I am reminded how much potential this show has in better hands. Marinette deserves so much better it breaks my heart!
It breaks my heart too and I agree!
I dunno, the rule is so restrictive. It’s not that all restrictions are bad but this one specifically is crippling.

Chinese horoscopes and Miraculous
Hi there!
I actually wrote this article for a Facebook group during the summer, but i had completely forgotten about it until I read the very in-depth analysis of Kagami's role in the series written by @geekgirles . There, she mentioned the bit in Ikari Gozen that had got me started on this research, so I thought why not? let's 'delight' you with this indepth analysis of the four characters of Marinette, Adrien, Luka and Kagami based on what we know of their zodiac signs in the Chinese horoscope. There are a couple of things that may surprise you.
First of all, let's put a lovely wee "keep reading" tag, so it doesn't clog your board, because it's a little long (ah, the understatement!)
Now. Here we are and if you clicked on carry on reading it means that you may be interested so... welcome welcome.
Apologies for the length
Tumblr media
Let's first of all talk about how the Chinese horoscope can give us a clue as of the characters age and date of birth.
In Ikari Gozen we find out that Marinette is a Snake in the Chinese horoscope. This narrows the search for her date of birth to two very precise years. 2013 or 2001. Now... counting that if she was born in 2013 she would be 7 now, it's most likely that she's born in 2001. In the French edition she is revealed instead to be a Leo. Which places her birthday in late July/beginning of August 2001. Kagami instead is revealed to be a Dragon, and a Scorpio, which places her birthday around November 2000. In an official Marinette’s Instagram post her birthday has been revealed as the 20th of November, IIRC.
Tumblr media
Now... not only this is a great deal of trivia information for us fans, which also helps us place the timeline of the story, which hasn't yet reached a full year in Canon from the start (in the Felix episode it's revealed that it's the first anniversary of Emilie’s disappearance. Hence in 3 series the story has advanced only by less than one year). It also helps up place the birthdays of some other characters.
Adrien for example. His birthday was series 1 episode 1, quite far from Marinette's birthday in Befana. So it's likely that he's a dragon like Kagami (which would also make sense thinking that Kagami is a character that mirrors Adrien's life and situation. But this isn't the place to discuss such thing, i refer to the very well developed article written by @geekgirles if you want to know more). A lot of people have theorised that he may be a Libra and be born maybe at the beginning of October, but of this I have no proof.
However, coming back to the Dragon sign it gets even more interesting, guys. If one of you have got more in-depth information and this comes up to be wrong I do apologise. I performed quite of an extensive research on the subject but of course I'm no astrologist so I can be wrong. That said... Not only the Dragon is considered the sign of the Emperor in the Chinese horoscope, and a lucky sign (ha). But 2000 is also the year of the Golden Dragon (metal). What better description than a golden dragon for our handsome sunshine?
Tumblr media
It gets even better when you get to the Dragon man's personality. Loves to be the centre of the attention. Natural flirts (ha! Touché Chat Noir!). Hot headed. Stubborn. Competitive. Naturally attracts money and women. Full of energy. Do I need any more proof that Adrien is a Dragon?
Let's see what the horoscope says about the Snake, and let's compare it to Marinette/Ladybug, so you understand why I'm pretty sure that the production looked this up quite in detail and that Chinese astrology can be at the base of our beloved characters.
Tumblr media
So the Snake woman is intuitive, intelligent, reserved and mysterious, has deep thinking, a mind that goes a mile per minute. Because they are smart and come quickly to solutions, they are great in crisis situations. They're able to step back and consider workable solutions. They are determined, sensual and smart and have innate wisdom. Doesn't this speak Marinette AND Ladybug from a mile?
Now... Luka. Until last week we weren’t really that sure of how old Luka was, Astruc had said that he was a couple of years older than Marinette, but Zag’s website had highlighted that Luka was Juleka’s twin brother which, counting that Juleka was in Marinette’s class, didn’t make any sense. But last weekend Astruc has actually confirmed that Juleka has repeated a year and that yes, Luka is her twin brother.
Tumblr media
Already before knowing this I had a look at the personality of the previous signs in the horoscope, and I had strong feelings that Luka may be a Rabbit, which would make him born in 1999 and one year older than Adrien. And this has been confirmed, so now we know. He is indeed a rabbit. Do you want proof? Rabbit men are calm, extraordinarily polite, and will do everything to avoid conflict. They have control over themselves and are sometimes conservatives. They can be considered a "yes-man", but have a line that they will never cross. They like organising, decorating, helping the wife/gf. They are great friends but don't like getting too close to someone. They are shy, introverted, honest, cuddle-lovers and attention givers. They are associated with the western sign of cancer, which is associated with the moon and the arts. Tell me if this doesn't speak Luka by a mile?
Tumblr media
Now a little bit of trivia that will make you laugh is... in the Chinese horoscope the cat doesn't exist. The legend says that Buddha invited the animals to a dinner, and the mouse tricked the cat and didn't wake him up, making him miss out on being chosen for the horoscope. However in TAIWAN things are different and the Cat takes the place of the RABBIT in the horoscope. The confusion seems to come from the old Chinese word for Rabbit, Mao, which sounds like the Taiwanese word for Cat Mau. So the sign of the Rabbit is also the sign of the Cat. Oh the irony!!
Snakes are yin energy. Rabbits are also yin energy. Dragons are yang energy.
But it gets better! Let's look at love compatibility, shall we? *rubs hands* hehe...
Tumblr media
Dragon man x Dragon woman (Adrien and Kagami) can be steamy and can work only if both have their own realm to shine on, because both are too competitive and can get into competition with each other. They love to be the centre of their world. They're great leaders but want the spotlight and don't settle for less. They're both independent and stubborn and their personality will clash, making it difficult to maintain the relationship going. They require a lot of love and admiration. They will never give in and apparently two dragons have a good physical relationship, mostly.
They CAN work together, but only if each has their own way to shine.
Sorry, Adrigami shippers.
Tumblr media
Dragon man x snake woman (Adrien and Marinette): they can be an excellent couple. They find each other physically attractive. The dragon is bold and full of energy, the snake is appealing in a more subtle way. Excellent romantic relationship, they both have strong personalities that attract each other. They share a degree of savoir-faire that prevents serious concerns. The male dragon will be tempted to stray, but he will know better than doing that, because he knows very well that his companion has hidden poisonous fangs (lol) and is VERY jealous... so he will look but not touch (the wise one will at least). Snake women love success and attention, but they're not as flashy as dragon men so they will be more subtle. Snake women are self-possessive, devoted and can give a good boost of confidence to a dragon man. She will be better at handling finances than him (that wouldn't surprise me in adrienette!). They both like fine things but Snake will teach Dragon to not overspend. Little trivia: the dragon was the sign of the emperor and the snake was the advisor. So they work very well in tandem. Their union will be full of passion and personal satisfaction.
Adrienette is in the stars, guys.
Tumblr media
Now last but not least... Snake woman x Rabbit/cat man (Luka and Marinette, but in a way even Chat Noir and Ladybug): very good couple too, they enjoy great conversation and have great time together. They make great friends. Snake loves the attention Rabbit gives and Rabbit is drawn by her sensuousness. They start as friends and have enticing conversations, which draws them together. When they start dating they realise they have similar tastes. They love cuddling in a hidden corner and will feel safe in their cosy nest to explore each other's sensuality. They can make a strong couple, unless their personalities start clashing. Rabbit can get annoyed at Snake's love for novelty and her extravagance, which may cause friction. If their temper clashes, they can't overcome differences.
So... Lukanette can work too, sorry guys. But as highlighted, it also works very well as a friendship. And sadly it's the same for Ladynoir...
Tumblr media
What I find funny in all of this is that, if this is true, Luka has the Snake miraculous, Marinette is a Snake sign, Luka is a cat sign, Adrien is a cat miraculous, Adrien and Kagami are a dragon sign, Kagami is a dragon miraculous... Jesus what a circle! Add to the mix Marinette as the RAT miraculous and we have a real laugh… (if any of you has ever watched Fruit Basket, the Japanese anime about the Chinese horoscope, you know perfectly well what I’m talking about!) and Snake/Rabbit as friends and potential couple works for both Lukanette AND Ladynoir, counting that rabbit = cat. And then you think about how Chat Noir bounces on his baton and you think "yes that's a rabbit, indeed"!
Any thoughts?
(apologies if this reflection doesn’t make sense to you!)

Do y'all know how hard it is to avoid spoilers on here? Terribly, but I managed. And how it's my turn, finally found time to watch Queen Banana! So lets get right into it! WOOO
Those all of Paris know of Marinette's work? Is she famous all over Paris? Imagine being a 14 year old girl that everyone knows about, both in and out of costume-- Oh wait, that's also Adrien
Did Astruc really self-insert? Like a real self-insert? No cover? Ngl, I kinda respect that kind of confidence
Oh no, not Marinette embarrassing herself on national television
Oh lol, I forgot that he had already inserted himself in the ep with bun-inette (forgot what the ep was called oops)
ZOÉÉÉÉÉÉÉ
Aww, poor André getting cut off
Fucking hate Bob Roth
If I hadn't been spoiled, I would have been so confused or I would have screamed at Chloe's "A movie where my half-sister is the star?"
Wait, why does Zoé's hair look so good and textured but Chloe's looks so stiff?
I agree with Chloe that her half-sister did come out of nowhere (but that's not a reason to be mean to her!)
Wait, is Zoé younger than everyone? Because logically, you know... also, I wonder how she got the role, since everyone on this project is from the class
I fucking HATE Bob Roth
And André, bud, please stand up for yourself. I know your daughter rules your life, but like, it's time you start being the parent and put her back in her place. It's for everyone's well-being (I know it will be hard, but I believe in you)
Nino my beloveddddd!!! He's so cute behind the camera!
I dont know how I feel about Chloe's cosplay of a country Queen Bee. I know Y'allternative has been all the rage on TikTok lately, but like....
WHY THE FUCK IS ADRIEN IN A CAGE
What's up with Chloe's banana obsession?
NOT SABRINA RUNNING AFTER CHLOE'S LIMO
Also, side note, but why do so many rich kids go to what I'm assuming is a public school? Don't they have their own elite private schools or something?
I love leader Marinette!
Damn kids, those effects are amazing
THE MAKEUP!!! :O
Aww, the end is so sweet
I also hate Gabriel, but in this episode, I hate him less than I hate Bob Roth
Adrien putting Chloe back in her place?? Damn son!
Also, I know Chloe said that he's her Adri-no one, but I just read it as Adrino and was confused as to why she was dramatically shipping him with Nino
Chloe is way to used to being akumatized
ALYAAAAAA
Oh, nice touch with the wall reflection, animation team!!
Zoé, babe, no, it's not your fault. They only people at fault here are Chloe and Gabriel Agreste (mostly Gabriel, because I still have hope that Chloé could become a better person, even if I dont think it will happen)
Damn Ladybug, that was a smooth catch
I love LB's costume change, it's so cute and pretty and wow
I saw the GIFs of the Vespa and it only gets funnier
I'm glad Zoé isn't naive enough to believe Chloe
Zoé Lee, awww
Idk why, but Zoé kinda looks like Emilie to me when she transformed. Also, her transformation sequence was really cool
KITTY
I see why everyone want's CN to kiss Carapace's hand now
No hesitation to insult Chloe, like a true sister who knows she won't get in trouble for it
Did Hawkmoth really back to back akumatize Chloe? What a bitch
YES ANDRÉ STAND UP FOR YOURSELF AND FOR ZOÉ
YES ZOÉ QUOTE THE MOVIE THAT PISSED CHLOE OFF (not sarcastic, I love her for this! 1) it will piss Chloe off even more, 2) it's a really sweet line, really)
Ok, Hawkmoth tried to back to back akumatize Chloe but failed
Ok, so review. You know me, I really love ML with all my heart! I loved the way Zoé handled Chloe. Chloe is a bully by nature, so it's not easy to stand up to her without feeling small, especially if you're related to her (Zoé seems to be the kind of person who really doesn't want to hurt anyone, especially not her family). I hope we get to see more of Zoé because even if she is a fundamentally good person, we saw at the end that she can be manipulative (for a good cause!) and I want to see how this would play out in the Bourgeois family. I loved the episode and now it's time for me to go watch Optigami!

Feri Gonzalez interview part 1: the end of Adrienette
The translator gave permission to post their translations on other social medias so I’ll help post it here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NWBMhsuZlc
Interviewer: Welcome to my channel , my name is "Fandom" and today I'm here with Feri Gonzalez, the ambassador to the miraculous ladybug in latin America, But aside from this she also manages the largest account dedicated to miraculous ladybug in latin America, in addition she also works for Zag studios, thank you so much Feri for joining us today on this program.
Feri Gonzalez: Thank you so much for inviting me Fandom, I'm glad to be back again.
Interviewer: Yes, we're really glad to have you back, it's become a bit of a tradition having you come back to this channel after each season finale, we invite you to know more about your point of view. We want to ask you a lot of interesting things, but one of the first things I would like to ask you is what so many others have begged me to ask you, it's about the end of the season 3 finale. Now, I know you read the scripts before hand and based on what you have previously read, did they present the chapter just as you had imagined? just as Thomas Astruc imagined? also what did you like most?, did they met your expectations in these last two episodes?, which did you prefer, the first part of the second?
Feri Gonzalez: The interesting thing about each episode is how the episodes starts off with Marinette narrating, and well, some got it but I think a lot of people didn't, but that narration Marinette gives in the beginning is what Fu said, or rather, its Fu's letter, its the very beginning of Master Fu's letter, so everything she's saying is what Fu left her in the letter, it starts off with it. As the episodes go on and as we arrive to talk about the end, well, of the two, we see Cat Noir who's just about given up as he continues to observe that Ladybug is now the new guardian, she has a stream of responsibilities piling on top of her, so for even more reasons now, she cant say yes to him, she cant pay that much attention to him, and so he looks at Kagami and says,  "but you never did that", before he didn't, before he ignored the kiss because he still wasn't sure about the whole, :" No, I'm gonna keep trying" .
I know things have been a disaster but its a disaster which has been seen subtly in multiple episodes. Seeing him over here trying and trying and trying and each time Ladybug telling him no and no and no, so it was completely natural to see Adrien eventually give up. But what I saw and what others might have missed, I don't know, each person is stuck in their own world and others look at the episode how they wanted as they interpret it their own way. The way I saw it in the beginning was, in the beginning we see Cat noir tell Ladybug, "oh, you know, I have a girlfriend", and I say, AH NO!, stop it right there!, that's not true, your just saying that just to try and make her jealous!, and then she's all, "you already know I cant be with you", and so she's still, but not really, she's still hurting him. When the episode starts off with Cat Noir like that well, that's was his last attempt, just one last little push to see if maybe theirs a chance she'd change her mind.
Interviewers: aww :'(
Feri Gonzalez: So to see that kind of negative reaction was like seeing him think, "you know what, Maybe I am wasting my time", that is to say, he will never stop loving her, but he's also telling himself he doesn't know if he should keep trying, you know, it could be he's having doubts about being so insistent. And so in terms of the second part well, I liked the whole dynamic between Cat noir and Ladybug, it was like a parallel to "Stone Heart", when she started to doubt herself, he picks her up, supports her, and lifts her spirit, I loved that parallel, I loved it when Fu said to them,  "Hawkmoth is trying to separate you two, but your a team so don't let him lie to you" lalala, and again its back to, "its the two of us against the world, My lady", I'm glad that they reinforced that the team was still there.
But after Cat Noir takes not of everything she has to do, all the responsibility she now has, well, I saw it as him admitting, "you know what,  poor thing, I think she's had enough, I think I'll leave her alone because she's got a lot to think about and well, let me see what happens with Kagami" because Kagami also has his attention, cause he likes her to. And so that's how I saw it , it was a very natural transition, obviously there's no kiss yet and what happened there in that finale is still debatable cause you already know there's people who took screen shots and went "look at Adrien!", its debatable if there was or wasn't a kiss, and I'm not gonna put my own points of view into that meaning, so I won't modify that thought process.
Because look, in terms of reading the scripts, I don't read all of them, there's some where I did literally read the script and there's some where I'm told the whole story and well, they told me the large majority of season 3 . In the season finale, I didn't read the whole script, I did read it but the rest I was told about the complete story leading to now, so that's when I'm asked, "Hey Feri, did Adrien and Kagami kiss?", and I say, "Yeah, its complicated" because originally they were going to kiss and just to clarify on this part, in the dialogue  of the final episode where Kagami asks Adrien, "I cant tell if your convinced" or something like that and Adrien says, "Yes, but no, but I don't know ...", he responds like that, that stayed the same, its the exact same dialogue, the scene is still identical and yeah.... I read the whole script after that, it happened to me after that chapter, I read the whole thing, take note that the dialogue stayed exactly the same, the only thing they changed was that they removed the kiss but Adrien reacted the same in the script, that is, Kagami asked him, "You didn't like it?" and he say's, "Yes, but no, its just that I imagined it differently", he tells her something like that, basically the same thing he told her in the episode, except there was a kiss.
But yeah, I noticed they took out the kiss, I can't clarify why, its simply what ended up happening and notice that I personally was not upset they took it out because, don't attack me Adrien fans, I didn't care for the pair. But I feel like in terms of the characters development, I think it was better to not put something so early, that is, it was best that they showed the two of them little by little. Kagami was very ready, but she also has no one else, she doesn't care about anyone else...but Adrien still had Ladybug, so that transition from "you know what, I'm sure that nothing will happen with ladybug, I'll give Kagami a chance", it seemed more natural for him not to accept Kagami's kiss, in my opinion, so it didn't bother me they took it out.
So things did happen just as they told me, that was simply the only difference, that they took out the kiss, but take into account the essence of the scene still remained, Adrien's doubt is still there, Kagami is till hurt that he's doubting, but to me it felt much more natural to just have it(the kiss) taken out, I personally think it was better. Now, lots of people might not have liked it and I understand a certain part of them as to why, but once you analyze things, everything that happened makes a lot of sense. Between the two episodes, the truth is the two had things I really liked so I cant really tell you which I liked more, because since it is a finale, to me, it was just a longer episode, so to me I cant really tell you what part I liked more because the two had their own details. The first I liked because that friendship dynamic between Kagami and Marinette was just beautiful.
Interviewer: yes, it really was.
Feri Gonzalez: Back then it was, "Die kagami!" and now it's , "I love Kagami!, I'm going to protect her and who ever dares touch her will have to see me outside!" type of thing. So I really liked that whole dynamic with their friendship. A quick interval, I remember lots of, that is to say , I remember it being apparent to me that when Kagami was introduced people said, "Oh!, bad writers and their love triangles, they only ever pin girls against girls, their just a bunch of misogynists", I don't know what. Then you fast forward to the finale and you see Kagami and Marinette like their the best of friends and its like, you see!, that's why I always say don't judge before you've seen the whole show, because in the beginning, you can think about one thing and after ten episodes they completely break the idea and that's what happened to Kagami when people we all, "oh how lazy for them to think girls only ever have a conflict with each other over one guy, how misogynistic of the writers", as if that's all there is.
Interviewer: Hahaha!
Feri Gonzalez: And right now with Kagami and Marinette, I think that of the five things I really love about the show, one of them is the friendship between Kagami and Marinette, I think its the cutest thing. Kagami is done really well. Between these two, they both lean on each other and I've always liked their development since "Ikari Gozen" to now(season 3), like when Marinette was suppressing her crush a little bit. What I really liked was how, I think it was "Ikari Gozen", where Tiki said something along the lines, "but why does she rub off you the wrong way?" and Marinette's all, " Because just look at her!, she's perfect!, she's amazing! that's what bothers me, she's just amazing!", and I'm just like wow, look at Marinette talking positively about Kagami despite her being her rival, its like, I liked that change of flow, that change of attitude. I really liked seeing Marinette say, "I've got an errand to run, so I'll just leave you two alone", to when she's talking to Kagami before they both transform and Kagami tells her, "No, its just that I really like Marinette but I also like Adrien" , it was in that moment Marinette realized, "You know what, she's being mature about this, so I'll be mature about it to" which is why in the end of the finale, she decided to let go of Adrien and leave him be with Kagami.
And so I really liked seeing all that, I liked seeing the friendship in "Love Eater", I liked seeing the drama with Marinette as she completely broke down right in front of Luka, that is, it's the most beautiful thing we've seen because we've never seen Marinette fall so low, so I enjoyed seeing her be more vulnerable, more human, I mean, that's what I really liked about "Heart Hunter", sorry, I know I said "love eater" before but its really "Heart Hunter". And of course because I love angst and drama, of course I found it fascinating seeing Fu pass on the Box and lose his memory because holy crap!, that's one of the most dramatic things in this universe, and poor Marinette she caught that completely unprepared, the poor thing.
She's completely alone because now Fu doesn't remember anything, Fu left to London with his girlfriend and bye bye that's all set and done. I think season 4 will be really heavy for Marinette because well, she's the guardian now!, the Kwami's cant really help her with much because for security reasons the Kwami's don't even know the contents of the book, so they cant really help her. Marinette will need to investigate everything by herself, come up with her own conclusion and figure out how to be a guardian all by herself, and that I believe will be one of the things which will make season 4 interesting, discovering how Marinette is going to deal with all of this.

I Have Too Many Opinions. ep. 1
lmao. i got encouragement to post my opinions on fandom things and now i want to make a miniseries doing just that. so here i am. doing just that.
im putting it under the cut cuz this was 4 whole pages including the disclaimer. yes i put a disclaimer and i explain why.
Anyways, here is the first piece in what inevitably will become fandom info dump, this time on thomas astruc’s writing on miraculous ladybug. but only some of my opinions cuz we would be here all day otherwise.
So… a disclaimer before I begin…
I do not hate Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir (yes i'm using their government name). I am quite a fan of the show actually despite its faults. I am also older than the intended audience but was obviously younger when the show first aired which is how my interest was piqued (the fact that its been 6 years and only 3 seasons says more about the show than me being a fan for that amount of time but also i never want to rush content creators cuz they're doing their best) and due to my age, there will be inherent bias in my approach of what i'm about to say as there is in EVERY opinion. The fact that it is an opinion should imply the presence of bias but most people tend to lack the critical thinking skills required to draw that conclusion ANYWAYS…
If I did hate the show I would not have this blog nor would I be even writing this because i tend to not give more than 2 seconds of thought to things i actively dislike (some of yall should give this a try) and i'm allowed to like things that are designed for an audience that i was originally a part of but grew out of. (I don't suddenly stop liking things because I'm older despite what many younger fans seem to believe about older audiences. I also don't need to be ‘allowed’ to do anything cuz i wasn't asking for permission anyways.)
This will not be character bashing, astruc bashing nor fandom bashing cuz, again, that would imply i hate any of those elements and if i did, i would not dedicate brainpower to them. Analyses and criticisms of media are fun and engaging and required if you wish to produce good enjoyable content. Now most of this should be already assumed and self-explanatory but people on the internet like to play morality roulette roll dice on purity culture and I rather have documentation that I am in fact not bullying fictional 14 year olds or a grown man. But alas, people get trigger happy whenever someone has less than 1000000% positive opinions on something they like and will throw out words they can't define (gaslight, baiting, toxic, problematic, gatekeep etc) in an attempt to defend their blind devotion,
which is not needed, if you like something you never have to defend it, even if i don't like it. If you respond to anything I post saying you disagree with me, I will not argue with you. I won't debate back and forth and try to convince you that the things you like are wrong. Unless you are being absolutely tone deaf to what i'm saying, you wont get a negative reaction from me. So don't try to fish for a fight. Please. I got metaphorical hands for days and I'm mean, you don't want me hurting your feelings on the internet. Do yourself the favour. Difference of opinion is how we get diversification in media and is inherently a good thing. Now that that's out of the way, please don't ever let me have to say that again. I beg.
Now onto the fun stuff
I didn't know what I wanted as a first topic so my trusty internet friend @moonlitceleste suggested astruc’s writing…
AND BOI do i got some opinions on ole tommy boi. Again I don't hate the dude. In fact, he has worked on a few shows that had defined my childhood, including but not limited to W.I.T.C.H. (all eps available on youtube for those interested, 2 seasons, general fun time all around).
So I don't think he’s scum of the earth but I do think his approach to writing mlb specifically has more misses than hits.
The first big miss is that he has no idea how to write 14 year old girls. At all. Almost every girl he has ever written feels like some terrible archetype built entirely for marketability and childish projection and pubescent self-insert (kind of). He has never been a 14 year old girl. I have. In fact when the show first aired, I WAS around the (assumed) age of the mlb characters. The behaviour he passes off as quirky or awkward or just the character’s genuine personality tend to perpetuate harmful stereotypes of teen girls found in the media and are never actually addressed as harmful. they just get swept under the rug. Marinette’s exuberant collage of teen heart throb model boi Adrien Agreste and her very painful almost fan worship she has of him (which flip flops like a paper sandal in the rain) being portrayed as a cute school girl crush uwu, Chloe being the y7 Regina George, Alya being the token best friend of colour with her ‘sassy’ personality (i want y'all to imagine me eyerolling so hard i bust a vessel in my eye), Kagami being the very damaging Perfect Asian Child stereotype. And before y'all get on your dusty soap box and defend going on about “BUT IT'S FOR CHILDREN”,,,, know this.
 i don’t give a solid fuck.
Not one.
Children arent stupid. Children are always going to remember the richy bitchy blonde who bullies the art kid, and the big kid, and the shy kid, and the non white kids, and was only nice to her equally rich white friend who she probably had a crush on or was only ever civil to her equally white lapdog. They're going to remember the half asian girl who was never allowed to actually be asian or the only black girl who existed solely as a soundboard for enabling bad habits or chastising the main character for the same habits she enables in the first place (boi aint THAT a topic for later). Like do i really need to explain that alya chastising marinette for taking max’s spot in gamer just to play with adrien rings absolutely hollow when she actively encourages her to sabotage the contest she’s in just so Kagami doesn't win?? Like I don't have to explain that right?? Again kids arent stupid and its quite something that Mari gets chastised for proving herself the best video game player regardless of her intentions just cuz it comes at the expense of max’s feelings/ego but is actively encouraged to sabotage not only kagami but herself by extension cuz kagami is ‘competition.’ Adrien is not a trophy to be won. And no I don't expect 14 yrs old to be perfect and to always make good decisions but these decisions are never addressed as being bad decisions. they get swept under the rug cuz those decisions were necessary for the ‘plot’ but astruc can barely keep characterization consistent and his characters suffer for it and it's the same children you preach are watching it that suffer as well. Cuz guess what? I KNOW 14 yr olds aren't like that cuz i've been there done that (this is the last time i'm saying that i promise) so I know astruc is just metaphorically throwing darts to figure out who says and does what without consideration for pre established personalities to drive the stalemate plot along. The same kids you say are watching this don't know that that's not how preteens work and will absorb and internalize those dynamics like baking soda and vinegar. Cata-fucking-strophically.
And I haven't even gotten to the boys yet. Which honestly doesn't require much explanation anyways cuz they suffer the same fate as the girls. Tired archetypes with nothing to give them life. Nino falls into Adrien’s person of colour token best friend who dates the female lead’s person of colour token best friend so they can have cute double dates uwu. Except the plot goes nowhere and we have no inclination of romantic development beyond moments that only act to actively convince me to anti ship the lovesquare (i don't want to do that so i self indulge in fanon that actually cares about the characters and plot. may i interest you in True Sight on AO3?). Max is the residential nerd but it doesn't matter (cuz he and everyone are dumbed down for the sake of ‘plot’), kim is the sports jock (which interestingly subverts the asian comedic relief stereotype but only barely) and luka is cute older guy ™ that wears black nail polish and is in a band. The point of all this is to say there is no depth in the characters. It's especially blatantly obvious with the characters astruc doesn't like (chloe). Again, it being a show for kids is not an excuse to be absolved of putting effort into the characters you make.
This is one of the biggest misses astruc has. I haven't even gone into all the nuances of this particular miss. And i havent gone into how that works against him in the plot either. Mostly because the plot itself hasn't gone anywhere and partially because I wanted to go into the plot (or lack thereof) separately as its own miss.
AND BOI is it a miss.
SO home boy astruc wanted to reap the benefits of a serial show with ‘engaging’ plot without putting in any of the work to make a linear storyline and relying on the episodic format for, again, marketability. You can't have the best of both worlds, you are not Avatar: The Last Airbender. Which btw has a lot less episodes and a desired end goal that didn't involve top dollar. Legend of Korra did but that's not the point and it had its failings with that too. I challenge you, tell me how many episodes actually contribute towards a plot point or introduce new thematic elements to the show? Can you name them? I can and I'm going to include the plot points that moved the story in some direction if only temporarily. Yes only temporarily for some of these and i will explain later. (if you're in the server you already saw this list *wink*)
25/26. Origins- self explanatory, the beginning of the story,
24. Volpina- introduction of the grimoire and Master Fu (kind of) and no, Lila is not a plot point,
28. The Collector- proper introduction of Master Fu,
37. Sapotis- introduction of Rena Rouge,
41. Syren- introduction of new aquatic power ups,
44. Anansi- introduction of Carapace,
47. Frozer- introduction of new ice power ups,
48/49. Style Queen- introduction of Queen Bee,
51/52. Heroes’ Day- introduction of Mayura and mass akumatization,
66. Startrain- introduction of Pegasus,
67. Kwami Buster- Marinette wears multiple miraculouses,
68. Feast- backstory as to how the miraculouses were lost,
69. Ikari Gozen- introduction of Ryuko,
70. Timetagger- introduction of Bunnyx,
71. Party Crasher- introduction of Roi Singe and Viperion,
73. Chat Blanc- alternate timeline that essentially means nothing but got a reaction out of fans anyways (myself included)
77/78. Love Eater/Battle of Miraculous- Marinette becomes guardian and other heroes lose their miraculous,
New York Special- other heroes exist and there is an American miraculous box,
That's 21 episodes. 21 out of a heaping 78 plus 2 specials. Everything else was just your typical akuma of the day episode and everything that happened outside that had no lasting consequences on the plot thanks to the miraculous status quo. Was it entertaining to watch Lila stir the plot of the class dynamic? Hell yeah. Too bad it meant nothing by the end of the episode cuz we were struck with miraculous status quo. She literally doesn't appear again until Heroes Day. that is from episodes 25 all the way to 51, she means nothing and yet she is treated with the severity of a b-villain/rival thing. She means nothing by the end of Volpina if I'm being honest. She is only relevant for 20 mins of episode time she’s in then it's back to magic status quo that undoes any shift in dynamics and relationships. It's like Spongebob who can't get his driver’s license. The worst part is I actually like Lila and I wish the story treated her with the seriousness we as an audience are expected to treat her with. Despite being painfully inconsequential by the end of each of the 3?? 4?? episodes she’s in, it's entertaining to watch a character create drama just because.
Too bad it means nothing.
Astruc is constantly building up suspense to something ‘important’ only for it to not deliver and fans are constantly having the rug pulled out from under us. Oblivio teased us with a reveal only that gets undone cuz memory akuma. Chat Blanc teased us with romantic development but that gets undone cuz time travel bullshit. Feast introduced more miraculous lore and the history of the guardians but that means nothing by the next episode or ever (i'm not including any reference to the season 4 trailer cuz i've been around the block a few times and im familiar with this lil dancy dance). Heroes Day teased us with a possible future team of heroes but that gets undone in Battle of Miraculous cuz ????? why?? (here's why; astruc was having a jolly ole time letting us know how irredeemable Chloe is at the expense of shooting his own stagnant plot in the foot. Again, discussion for later.)
Too bad anything that slightly swerves off course from the akuma of the day gets undone or ignored. Too bad nothing has any lasting consequence. I mean, if anything did, the episodes would have had a consistent order and release schedule so im not scrambling to watch the leaked ep in Portuguese or something while the french dub is two episodes behind while the english version hasnt even been dubbed. I really wonder how he plans to conclude the show when he’s so afraid to step out of the corner he painted himself in.
Again, not going into nuances. If you want you can ask for more specifics (i doubt anyone would) but this is really just a slightly detailed general overview of my opinions on astruc’s writing.
I was going to include another miss in his approach to this show but imma save that for another time.
How’s that for a ‘first’ post?
