You know…
… Further evidence that I think the series ending was meant to be more hopeful—in the Peter going undercover as his true identity as Neal’s dad ep the second  (we all know the first one was the school ep), when he, again, proceeds to describe his entire relationship and difficulties w/ Neal when smoothing things over w/ the auction lady… Her response is literally ‘as long as he’s in your life, there’s always time to make it right.’
And how do we end the series?

okay, while janet visits a psychic clearly wins the day i do also have a home alone!tim idea that i'm going to share
so, it is christmas with the drakes. tim is our precocious 7-8 year old boy (he needs to be this age because he has not yet made the connection of batman and robin = bruce and dick AND so dick is still robin)
jack has decided that he's going to make amends with (show off to) his estranged relatives by planning a big old drake bash where they will christmas in paris (and jack can smugly brag about how successful his company is by paying for everything)
jack, however, doesn't really like his relatives so he delegates a lot of the planning and logistics and management of this trip to his beleaguered wife janet (who also doesn't like jack's relatives, thinks this trip is stupid and a bad idea, wanted to just have a quiet christmas and spend time with their son over his break, but the couples counselor they've been seeing has been suggesting that jack and janet try to compromise more and be more open to things that are clearly important to the other one, so here they are) who begrudgingly takes over the management of this trip because someone has to and it's clearly not going to be jack (even though it's his gd family)
so all janet asks is that jack please, please, please wrangle tim while she's doing everything else
so it's the day before christmas and we have the extended drakes over at jack and janet's townhouse in the suburbs (listen you can't convince me that the drakes didn't have a townhouse in the suburbs especially because tim refers to the robinson park condo as the place they would stay when they decided to be downtown. they very much strike me to have a suburb home and a couple of city homes)
and tim is kind of excited about this, but he is also a bit sour and cross that everytime he tries to get his mom's attention she's just frazzled and sorry because her attention keeps getting diverted by jack's aunt or uncle or cousin or cousin's kid (he is only 7-8 after all!)
so tim stands at the top of the stairway and angrily says he's going to his room. unfortunately, no one hears him. especially not his dad, whose only job it is to keep track of tim, because uncle rich asked about whiskey and jack has an excellent one in his study for showing off occasions such as this
the limos come to take them to the airport and janet, who is very frazzled making sure that everyone's suitcases get put in the cars, doesn't do a final headcount as she hurries everyone along because otherwise they're going to be late
and jack, talking to uncle rich about cigars, gets in the second car sans tim. he was just a little distracted, okay?
the extended drakes make it to the airport just in time and onto their flight. since they're all spread apart, since this is a christmas flight, nobody has noticed they forgot tim
"you know," jack says to rich, "i wanted to take the private jet, but we didn't want to leave you all to commercial by yourself while we lived it up in comfort"
tim comes out of his room to realize they forgot him. oh no! he's a little sad, but also. freedom to do whatever he wants? nice. he's going to live it up, and when he's parents realize what they did they'll be sorry!
meanwhile, two bumbling robbers are sneaking around bristol looking for houses to rob.
which catches tim's attention. this is serious business. he tries to call the cops about it, but they were like "what are you, 6? is this a prank call?" so he has to take matters into his own hand and protect the townhouse.
which means it's time for operation: what would batman and robin do? so tim sets up a bunch of traps.
in paris, the drakes arrive and finally realize tim is gone.
janet loses her shit. at jack. he had one gd job, after all
it's probably good that tim isn't there for that fight. it's ugly.
so janet has to immediately fly back to gotham because they forgot her baby boy and he's all alone there! unfortunately, there's one thing that money can't buy, and that's a last minute plane ticket on christmas.
....they probably should have taken the jet.
all she can manage to get after bargaining and begging all the people in the airport is a ticket to wichita, kansas. which is not ideal, by any means, but at least it's the country she needs to get to.
meanwhile, batman and robin have been made aware of some christmas burglars. they talk to commissioner gordon, who mentions a weird prank call they got from a kid
so they go to check it out and dick robin gets caught up in the glue trap that tim drake set up to catch bad guys. dick robin gets very affronted over this.
tim is mortified that he caught robin in his glue trap!! he'll never be best friends with robin now :(
batman tells robin to stay with the kid while he stakes out the perimeter
and the kid has a flying grayson poster in his room which is even more mortifying. dick has to keep a straight face as tim asks if he had every heard of them before, they're amazing, especially that dick grayson. batman can't come back soon enough.
batman does, and does ask why tim is alone.
"my parents forgot me :(" tim says "i know they didn't mean to. i miss them". and now dick does feel bad for the fanboy.
anyways, batman and robin catch the robbers and everything is so cool. tim asks for their autographs. he's never been so sad but so happy before in his life. (silver linings, you know?)
meanwhile, janet is in kansas. desperately trying to make her way back to gotham. she's almost in tears. there's no tickets to be found and she needs to be home, like, 8 hours ago. she almost went on a road trip with a polka band in her desperation. she's sitting outside a terminal, face buried in her hands. a kindly lady and man comes up to her and asks her what's wrong. she bursts into tears as she tells the woman the whole story and how she has to make it back to her son.
the kindly lady and man look at each other and silently agree. christmas is about helping each other out. "we don't have tickets to gotham," the woman says. "but we can give you our ticket to metropolis" they were going to visit their son. after all. but he would understand. and he has other ways of seeing them for the holidays that don't rely on planes.
janet is eternally grateful. she doesn't know how she can evey repay them.
it's christmas day and tim is sad. he had a fun adventure without his parents, but he really misses his mom. he goes to sit on a park bench and mope.
a man comes up to him. it's bruce, in disguise. they talk for a bit and tim cries about how all he wants for christmas is his mom.
"well," bruce is disguse says, "keep your chin up and maybe your wish will come true." he did, after all, hear from superman, who heard from his parents, about a woman desperate to get home to her son.
tim thanks him and goes home. he sits in the living room sad, when he hears a car pull up. it's his mom!!! merry christmas indeed. they hug. tim is so happy.
and then the rest of the extended drakes pull up. uncle rich is well and deep in his drinks and is laughing so hard.
jack called and yelled at their assistant to get the drake private jet to paris asap so they could all return home, which was actually a good idea. jack does feel very ashamed since he was the one who was supposed to be keeping track of tim after all. he'll take his son to a monster truck show to make it up to him.
all's well that ends well. batman and robin watch the happy family reunion, pleased at the outcome.
and dick never forgets the glue trap and is eternally trying to catch tim in one for tim's entire robin career.

syd you are destroying me over here. what the fuck. what would “down” look like in au squared? would jesse’s parents take baby when they kicked him out, or would he just be left to navigate his. Unstable housing situation with an infant daughter and no support? im like i dont even know which one i would prefer you to say… down in au squared universe just Does Not feel good thank you for bringing it to our attention :-(
(frolics around cutely while i make everything worse for everyone) "down" never feels good ever tbh, between walt hitting his ableism victory royale and jesse getting his shit absolutely rocked by fate, its a miracle any of us survive that episode. au squared jesse of course fights his parents tooth and nail about kicking him out since ginny left him the house, but as soon as his mom says that they'll be taking baby too since he's not responsible enough, he backs down and is like "fine take the house, take whatever u want, but baby's coming with me". he obviously doesnt want to be homeless, but being homeless and not having baby is more than he can bear. she tries to reason with him, then threatens to get the law involved (i imagine saul helps jesse secure full custody of baby in addition to helping him buy his parents' house in season 3 :) besties), but jesse doesnt budge and takes off with her and their essentials, only for his ride to get stolen while he's in the drug store buying formula. they'd probably end up spending the night in the impounded rv (no blue tho. if i can spare my guy one suffering, it'll be the blue) with him genuinely not knowing if its Worth It anymore because hes literally laying in a mobile meth lab next to his crying baby who's too upset for her nighttime feeding, unable to provide for her but also unable to let her go. it feels so awful and selfish: she deserves better but he doesnt trust anyone to give her that. he breaks the rv out of the impound the next day the second clovis threatens them and drives straight to walt's place to get his money, riled up from walt ignoring his calls and clovis fucking threatening him in front of his infant daughter. "down" of course is a parade of walt being a dickhead because skyler has totally stopped buying his shit, so when jesse pulls up in person to beg for the money, walt snaps at him and tells him that jesse wouldn't even be in this situation if he were more responsible and that a real father would have found a way to provide for his child, which is not only vile but the fucking Wrong Thing to say to jesse after the last 24 hours. this is what provokes their fist fight and walt finally hands over the money, then tries to make some "look. we're both in this for family. we have to work together" comment to amend things as if he wasnt just yelling at his own son for using the car pedals wrong. having the money and getting out some of his rage and misery by pounding walt makes jesse feel better, but more than that, it gives him this adrenaline rush in terms of being a dad. sure it was a fucking nightmare, but he did all of that for his baby and he won. he fought to provide for her and he did. he didn't give in and just hand her over to his parents like she was some stranger that just happened to live in his house: he kept baby, he protected her through a disaster, and now he's never going to let her go. as he gets them a motel room for temporary housing with his cash and goes buck wild in the infant section at walmart and ends the day watching a happy, fed, clean baby play with her new stacking rings, jesse thinks about what walt said and feels a bitter kind of pride. "a real father would've found a way to provide for his child." well he did. he's baby's father and he's going to provide for her.

Have i asked about your tinimmy headcannons yet?
Also bestie how have you been? This is a Lil check up hehe >:)
🏡
i dont think so hello!!! im doing okay i get to go clothes shopping for fall tomorrow bcuz its getting colder out and i own exactly one pair of long pants atm. so im excited for that. other than that im depressed but not in a sad way just in a meh way
they played together a lot when they were kids :D mostly bcuz tina didnt have any other friends and she was the only person who didnt mind jimmy junior's random dance breaks (which was very bad but she thought was amazing) but they played together during recess and after school :) neither bob nor pesto liked this but their wives were like stop being assholes this isnt about ur stupid rivalry they are five years old
tina and jimmy jr get cast as juliet and romeo in the shakesphere play for english class and both of them give it 110% (tina bcuz she relates to the romance aspect of juliet and jimmy jr bcuz he relates to the going against the family aspect of romeo) they both end up getting an A+ and make the teacher cry with their performances
tina was the first person outside his family that jimmy jr told about his parents getting a divorce. she found him crying during recess in like third grade and he told her everything. one of the only times tina has seen him genuinely cry (he tries to act tough around her most of the time)
they've already agreed to go to prom together AND made an agreement that if they've both single at 30 they'll get married. later in high school they make an amendment that if one of them discovers they arent straight they don't HAVE to get married but they still have to go to prom together as friends
once tina forgot to bring a jacket to school when it was cold & rainy and she was outside at recess shivering and miserable and jimmy jr offered her his jacket so she wouldn't be cold <3 very simple gesture but she will never let him forget it and calls it the most romantic thing he's ever done for her
jimmy jr really does care and worry about tina A LOT whenever she trips or hurts herself at school (which is a lot knowing tina) he's always the first person to ask if she's okay or if she needs to go to the nurse. he's always worried abt her bcuz she's pretty clumsy even if he acts cold and uncaring
they are VERY competitive when playing any type of game together like put them in a room with mario kart 8 and they become sworn enemies. they almost killed each other over a game of monopoly
their first date was in fifth grade. their class was going on a field trip to wonder wharf but jimmy jr and tina snuck off from everybody else & held hands and jimmy jr bought her cotton candy <3 they still like hanging out there sometimes although its hard not to bring their siblings along so it isnt really a date at that point
when people make fun of tina behind her back at school (usually tammy and jocelyn) jimmy jr will NEVER go along with it even if they broke up or they're fighting bcuz thats still his friend and he doesnt want to be mean to her. he will defend her if it comes down to it but usually they just stop when he doesn't laugh or he says "that isnt cool guys"
they like passing each other little notes during class with doodles or hearts or whatever and tina keeps them all in a special box in her bedroom. jimmy jr probably forgets about 90% of them but he saved a few too
jimmy jr and tina have never missed each other's birthday since they were in kindergarten :) all the way until they graduate high school they go every single year even if they arent really talking or they're dating other people and they always invite each other. the closest they ever got to missing one was when jimmy jr's dad didnt let him attend her 13th birthday but he made it in the end hehe

Hey, if you know anything about Marvel, can you tell me about Civil War? Despite never having seen the movie, I wanna do a fix it of it, but the only clue I've got is that the Avengers were behaving like five year olds.
I can try, but if you're wanting to go for a Team Iron Man take on this, I will be of no help to you since from my take, Tony was the primary cause of problems as well as the biggest obstacle to any sort of reconciliation in the movie and franchise as a whole.
Basically, the Avengers as a group are held directly responsible for Tony's choice to mess with a powerful artifact he knew nothing about and LIED to Thor about his true intention in "studying it" for, and ended up creating a murderbot without telling anyone because he knew they would tell him not to. In response to the murderbot destroying a country, the UN decides to ratify the "Sokovia Accords", which on paper will create a committee in charge of the Avengers to decide where and when they can be deployed to deal with problems (or rather what they DECIDE are problems). And that may very well be true (not that we ever actually see that part in action), but it ALSO means that any superpowered individuals can be detained with no legal rights or representation and be placed in an underwater prison that may include solitary confinement, torture, and shock collars. The Avengers are surprised by the reveal of the Accords and are given three days to either sign the paperwork saying they'll go along with them or retire, which is confusing given that this had to have been in process for a good while and they should have been made aware of it more than three days before it'd become an actual law.
After his murderbot proceeded to do what most logical murderbots would and try to wipe out humanity, Tony takes no personal accountability for the harm he caused or the country destroyed until a single American mother confronts him over the death of her son who was a student studying in said country at the time the murderbot destroyed it, and he feels bad because she actually blames him for it. So after making a big deal about this ONE American life amidst all the thousands of non-Americans whom he damn well knew had to have died during that mess and which he was shown doing jack all to assist in the aftermath of, Tony suddenly decides that the Avengers as a whole need to be kept in check and pushes the others to sign away their rights. This is, of course, ignoring that up to that point Tony himself hadn't actually been doing any work with the other Avengers and that he's only technically superpowered when he wears an easily removable suit so by all counts the Accords wouldn't apply to him if he didn't want them to. Which kind of comes off as hypocritical since he wants everyone else to sign when no one else in the Avengers really has that ability.
Tony's stance might be considered understandable if his claims about changing the Accords after the fact weren't complete lies.
Steve Rogers: I'm not saying it's impossible. But there would have to be safeguards.
Tony Stark: Sure! Once we put out the PR - they're documents. They can be amended. I file a motion, have you and Wanda reinstated...
THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS!!! And per the director commentary, Tony damn well KNEW that when he said it, he just wanted to make Steve sign.
It kind of boils down to Tony wanting to use this whole mess as a way to get one over on his dad's old friend he thinks his dad preferred to him. This is evidenced by his petty barbs at Steve and his "I win" comment when trying to make Steve sign.
Tumblr media
Given the events of Captain America Civil war and the reveal about Hydra, Steve has reservations about relying on such a committee to direct when they can or can't help people. Plus at this time, in addition to dealing with the upcoming Accords, he is also dealing with personal issues such as the recent death of his past love interest he left behind when he got frozen trying to save the world and his missing formerly brainwashed best friend. Said best friend is conveniently framed for a terrorist attack at this exact same time and soldiers are sent to kill him. Said terrorist attack also seriously pisses off Black Panther because the explosion kills his father, and he starts trying to hunt Bucky down to get revenge because he (like everyone else) is led to believe Bucky's responsible for it. Steve interferes to save Bucky's life and gets arrested for it. Steve eventually discovers that there is a conspiracy that appears to be centered on locating six super soldiers who could cause massive harm to the world. So he forms a team to try to stop this mastermind from releasing them, and all of his team are informed of the situation and agree to come help willingly.
This team includes Scarlet Witch, whom Tony tries to keep locked up in his vacation home due to people being scared of her due to her powers and especially after she failed to contain a suicide bomber that resulted in the destruction of a building. He has Vision, the guy she's in love with, guard her to keep her from leaving the compound. Tony also doesn't seem to see her as a person and sees nothing wrong with keeping her locked up as in his own words: "There's worse ways to protect people. She's not a US Citizen and they don't grant visas to Weapons of Mass Destruction."
Tony, on the other hand, forms his own team to stop Team Cap that includes Black Widow, Black Panther, Vision, War Machine, and Spiderman. The last of whom is still a minor by this point that Tony chose to BLACKMAIL into helping him to fight Captain America and whom he doesn't tell ANYTHING about what's going on or why they need to go to an airport in Germany without his Aunt's knowledge or permission when the kid may not even have a passport.
Airport battle happens because Tony shows up to stop Steve and his team from getting a plane to go to the base where the super soldiers are being kept in stasis. Steve tries to tell Tony what's been going on and about the super soldiers and threat to the world, but Tony refuses to listen, doesn't let any of his team hear what Steve has to say so they can make their own decision on the matter, and starts a fight.
Tumblr media
The fight results in Steve and Bucky getting away, War Machine getting shot down by friendly fire and becoming paralyzed, Tony shooing Falcon at close range just because he got mad that Falcon NOT letting himself be shot down resulted in War Machine being injured, Black Widow ditching Team Iron Man for Team Cap, and the rest of Team Cap being imprisoned in the aforementioned underwater prison with torture, shock collars, and no legal representation or rights.
Tumblr media
Tony finally decides to actually look into the whole conspiracy angle and realizes that "yep, there is a conspiracy here and Cap was right and we probably didn't need to have that fight....whoops". He goes to visit his former teammates in the underwater prison in order to get info on where Steve went. The fact that he acknowledges that Cap was onto something doesn't stop him from needlessly and cruelly betraying Clint's secret by revealing his hidden family to Ross (aka, a major antagonist of the Hulk) out of sheer pettiness or ignoring the state Wanda is in, but that part tends to be glossed over by most Team Iron Man fans and the MCU in general so we'll move on.
Tumblr media
He convinces Sam to tell him where Steve is so he can help, and then he leaves the rest of the group to rot in the underwater prison with no further consideration or concern for their well being. He then uses his own tech to fly to another country he has no authority to be in and did not inform any of his supervising committee people about his intention to travel to despite having signed the Sokovia Accords himself by this point, essentially breaking the very thing he had made such a big deal this whole time over that he insisted everyone else needed to sign and follow, which is of course never addressed in the MCU or by Team Iron Man fans.
Steve and Bucky make it to the secret base where the super soldiers are kept in stasis. Tony soon joins them, not realizing that Black Panther followed him. They arrive at the secret base and discover the super soldiers are already dead and the mastermind behind this horribly convoluted conspiracy just wanted to destroy the Avengers as revenge for them not saving his family from dying during the Sokovia attack. So despite how impossible this entire setup is, he manages to successfully break up the band by showing a clip that reveals Bucky (while under brainwashing) was sent by Hydra to kill Tony's dad (and maybe mom, since the video doesn't actually show him killing her but she is still dead).
This sets Tony into a rage for a crime that he knows Bucky was forced to commit against his will (and that Tony himself probably should have known about sooner had he paid any attention to the Hydra info dump from back during the Captain America Winter Soldier movie). He blames Steve for knowing about it (even though reasonably Steve only knew Hydra was involved in the death and not that Bucky personally was the one made to pull the trigger, and director's commentary revealed that Steve blocked it from himself so he was in no position to tell Tony anyway). Tony refuses to be talked down and tries to brutally murder Bucky for a crime that happened decades ago while Bucky tries to get away from him rather than fight back. He shoots Bucky in the back when Bucky tries to run away and blows off Bucky's prosthetic arm. Steve steps in to stop Tony from committing murder, and because he refuses to calm down or simply stop trying to murder them, Bucky and Steve team up to try to forcibly depower Iron Man to make him stop trying to commit murder. They do not try to kill him. Just depower. Compare that with Tony shooting laser blasts at them that can sheer a metal arm off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eventually Bucky goes down and Tony still refuses to stop, so since Steve can't get him to stop any other way, he attacks Iron Man's power source directly with his shield only until the suit can no longer continue the fight. Then he goes to help Bucky.
Tumblr media
Tony throws out some childish comment about the shield and how his dad (whom he has shown nothing but distaste for this entire time) made it and how Cap doesn't deserve it, so Steve drops the shield and leaves with his friend.
Tumblr media
Black Panther captures the mastermind responsible for the terrorist attack and his dad's death, and returns to his home country with Bucky to help him fix the remaining effects of the brainwashing he was still under. Which shows a distinct difference in revenge vs justice since he at least doesn't just try to murder in a rage without listening.
And despite everything that happened, Tony's refusal to listen, and Tony's attempted murder, Steve still manages to be the bigger person and sends Tony an apology letter and a cellphone that Tony can use to call him if he ever needs help (which Tony never uses even a year later when the universe is at stake because he's still butthurt that nobody liked his murderbot idea). Then Steve, unlike Tony, actually decides to help his teammates by breaking everyone out of the underwater prison.
Ultimately, this leaves Tony as the only remaining Avenger since War Machine is still injured, Black Widow ditched him for Team Cap in CW, Black Panther also appears to be helping out with Team Cap by the end of CW, Vision ditches him to be with Wanda by the time Infinity War starts, Tony sends Spiderman back home and pretty much ghosts him afterwards while still never telling him what the airport fight was actually about or anything about the Sokovia Accords (which by all counts, Spiderman should also have been forced to sign as well), Hawkeye and Ant Man retire, and the rest of Team Cap is still Team Cap.
And Tony learns absolutely nothing as not only does he refuse to call Captain America for help despite Bruce and Dr. Strange warning him to (which could have prevented everything that went wrong in Infinity War), when he does finally see Steve and Team Cap again, all he does is whine about them not going along with his murderbot plan that already went astronomically wrong the last time around and caused the entire mess with the Sokovia Accords in the first place.
Half of the Civil War movie could have been prevented had Steve been able to talk to the rest of Team Iron Man and gotten the chance to tell people BESIDES TONY about the super soldiers. They may have needed to bring him in and in Black Panther's case, want to kill Bucky, but they were all at least sensible enough that if they knew about the conspiracy and the potential threat of six super soldiers being let loose on the world, they would agree to put the issues aside for the moment and deal with the threat first. THEN after dealing with the threat and the conspiracy, they could just arrest Steve and Bucky again and I doubt either of them would fight them on it. Neither of them were resisting arrest, after all, they were only resisting a murder and that's an entirely different thing.
So yeah, that's Civil War. And if you want to do a fix-it, having them talk things out at the airport instead of fighting because Tony refuses to listen would probably be the place to start.

Cobra Kai knows what happens if you let shitty fathers back into your life, actually...
Tumblr media
They just prefer the fantasy
Tumblr media
Cobra Kai has an issue with fathers. Specifically fathers parenting sons. The only one in the show who we consistently see parenting his own children is Daniel, and for no reason other than plot, he has a very loving, supporting relationship with his daughter and surrogate son Robby but turns into a dismissive asshole around his son Anthony.
Johnny's relationship with Robby is abuse through neglect; he's consistently failed to show up for him in every way. He's ignored that the mother of his child is an addict, probably because he himself is one, and contributed nothing financially or emotionally.
Miguel's father is apparently an active threat to Miguel's safety.
We know Johnny's father figures, be they Sid or Kreese, certainly are.
And yet, the show unironically indulges in the hallowed figure of the biological father.
You know what would have made emotional sense after the S4 All Valley for Robby to do? When he's come to the realisation that even when you take someone under your wing with the best of intentions and effort, you might still screw up?
Go back to Mr. LaRusso. Mr. LaRusso, who screwed up and apologised. Who kept reaching out, without blaming him, yet tried to protect him even when he didn't want protection. Mr. LaRusso, who paid for his mother's rehab, offered him a home, encouraged him, thanked him, called him family. Who is financially and emotionally stable, unless the writers want to create unnecessary drama to heighten the plot.
Instead he reaches out to Johnny, who is not emotionally equipped to handle his problems. That's why fathers walk out in the first place. They're incapable of handling the emotional load of the relationship they're in. You know? Same as they made Miguel do. His relationship with Johnny gets so painful and complicated that he bails.
And we know Johnny may want to have a father-son relationship with Robby but he has the emotional maturity of an 18-year-old. Yeah, he's learning. But he can't take care of Robby. The reason he can mentor Miguel is that Miguel has a solid emotional base in his mother and grandmother. (The only reason why a woman like Carmen would date him is that she wants to keep an eye on this man that her son is spending so much time with. He can't even get it up.) And he acts like an 18-year old, dragging Robby on a wild goose chase to Mexico. And that is in character for him, so I don't blame the writers, but why put Robby in that situation in the first place? Because they know that stuff like this will happen. Likely from bitter experience.
And you know how I know?
Johnny's whole arc with Kreese.
Kreese is what happens, not when an abusive father leaves a son, but when a son leaves an abusive father, whom he loves.
"Why would you let him back into your life?"
Because before sweep the leg
Kreese was his Dad.
A cruel one. One whose love was purely conditional. But if Johnny worked hard, and did as he was told, and put up with all the hurt -
He could win a smile from him. He could make him proud. He could keep his attention. He could be enough.
And then to find out that for all your devotion, your suffering, your hard work, he would still hurt you. And if you failed... he'd kill you. That you'd have to leave him to ensure your own survival.
I deeply feel for Johnny. That betrayal, that attempted murder, that froze him.
And you hope, don't you? That one day, the man magically comes to a realisation. That he was wrong. That he will apologise. Make amends.
And the absolute insight is that Kreese knows that this is what Johnny wanted all along. And that he could have come back at any time. He knows the fantasy that this time, it will be right, and he plays that to a T, like abusive parents do -
When they want something from you. When you have something for them. It doesn't last. They'll worm their way back in until they can hurt you. Oh, they might actually want the relationship too, the love and camaraderie, but they want the power more.
Of course Johnny fell for the prodigal Dad act. It's what abused children lap up. Because Johnny had nothing to compare it to. And apparently the writers have this same old wound - what if my real Dad will make everything better one day? What if he will magically change?
Even though they know he won't...?
Why make your characters chase that farce?
Do you know what Robby needs now?
This:
Tumblr media
And even more than Johnny, he needs this:
Tumblr media
Because realistically, Mr. LaRusso is his best shot at a stable life.
And that's a great story to tell.
Bring him home, Cobra Kai. Robby needs it.

♡ lyric inspiration: "I don't have to be hateful, I can just say, "Bless your heart" and even though I don't belong with your high life friends doesn't mean we don't get together and try to make amends."
♡ character: bruce wayne / batman
♡ pronouns used: she / her
♡ note: not checked for grammar or spelling mistakes / i feel like ppl tend to forget how popular bruce wayne is like his status in the comics is comparable to that of the kardashians
Tumblr media
"hey you going to the ramblers game tonight?" dick asked. you shook your head no. "i didn't get the wayne enterprise ticket but i'm also backed up on work so i don't think i could even if i wanted too."
dick smacked you in the back of the head.
"ow! that hurt!" you exclaimed. he handed you the ticket, the paper being glossy all over from it being laminated, "aren't you dating my dad? why wouldn't you be going?"
you couldn't help but start laughing at his comment, "watch your words carefully, grayson. i'm just your dads assistant. not only would that look bad on me but him as well. plus, i'm sure that he found some gotham celebrity to take for the night," you added on.
before you or dick could say anything, bruce walked into the office, "wonderful, he gave you a ticket. all of us are to be there at exactly seven pm. dick, did you remind your brothers about the time? we don't have much time left and we still need to pretend that we care about football and get the jersey they provided us from the store."
"i thought i was staying behind?" you asked bruce. he chuckled, not giving you a second look, "where'd you hear that from?" he asked. you remained silent, "exactly. now i'll give everyone's jerseys once we arrive to the suite box. we'll meet you and your brothers there!" bruce pressured dick as he emphasized the time they had to arrive.
you walked behind bruce and into his car, taking in the black rolls royce once again. you sat down a bit awkwardly, not knowing what to say or do. this hadn't been the first time you were alone with bruce but his intimidating presence usually caused you to get uncomfortable for a few minutes until the tension came down.
"so, what is it that you need me to work on while we're there. i brought paperwork but i didn't know exactly what so..." Bruce shook his head, "we're here to have "fun" and you will not be on the clock. this is a family event and we all wanted you there. plus, wayne enterprises needs the publicity after last months incident with my son damian."
you bit back your laugh as you remembered very well the fight damian got into with a waiter at a gala dinner a few weeks ago. you had no idea what the cities professional football team had to do with wayne enterprises but all you could come up with was that maybe bruce was funding to make adjustments to the stadium and he hadn't told you yet.
as soon as you arrived to the stadium, you saw the paparazzi and newspapers already lined up for bruce's arrival. you stared at him, a bit taken back at the fact that the two of you had to walk through that together.
"you don't think they'll say something if we walk in together?" you asked him nervously. he didn't respond as he opened the door and let himself out. you felt an internal panic rising inside of you as he gave you his hand to help you out of the car, "bruce i didn't agree to this!" you screeched quietly.
you took one deep sigh and got out, immediately being flashed by a million different cameras and questions. you looked at bruce nervously as he put his arm around your waist and moved you closer to him. bruce knew he was going to earn a scolding from you later but he was never a man with a plan unless it came to his vigilante activities so he went with what his mind told him to do first.
"just follow my lead," he whispered as the two of you approached a reporter. you felt an overwhelming feeling of adrenaline come over you and put on the most sincere smile you could muster up, "mr.wayne, it's a pleasure to see you again. what brings you out to the gotham ramblers game tonight?"
"we were invited to watch the game after we donated some of our money to fund the league," he replied casually, "that's great to hear and who might this be?" he asked turning over to you. as bruce went to introduce you, you stopped him.
"i'm ( your name ), i'm bruce's work partner and his date for the night. nice to meet you!" you replied. bruce stood there shocked, not expecting you to say anything at all, "it's nice to meet you. will we see you be recognized during halftime?" bruce nodded in agreement as he quickly said his goodbyes and walked into the stadium.
"i should kill you," you replied to bruce angrily. he stared back at you with shock still on his face, "you did fine, i don't see the issue," he exclaimed. you put your hands in the air, trying to get him to understand that you pulled your response to the reporter out of your ass.
you heard a wave of cameras clicking as you noticed dick and the rest of bruce's sons arriving. you could tell that damian was not in the mood to have his picture taken as dick waved to the cameras enthusiastically. tim and bruce's other son jason didn't do much but walk ahead.
"the next time you do this to me, you're gonna get your ass kicked," you threatened as you waved dick and the rest down. they all met with the both of you as a stadium coordinator started to approach all of you.
"here are the jersey's for the game tonight and we will take you onto the field a few minutes before half time begins. the suite box will be on the second floor with your name on the door."
bruce nodded as you all went into the elevator. you pulled the jersey over your day clothes and the rest did the same, "how was your first experience with the paparazzi?" dick joked. you gave him a death stare, "your father here didn't tell me i would be doing press until i got out of the car and realized it," you replied.
tim turned over to his dad, "you sent her into the wild without any prep? are you insane?" he asked. damian shook his head disappointedly, "you even trained me to be civil with them," he muttered. you stared at bruce, punching him in the arm as you immediately regretted it.
you looked at everyone, giggling as you realized all of you looked like bee's with the tacky yellow and black colors on. you soon got to the suitebox, seeing bruce's name engraved on the door which surprised none of you. the worker opened the door to the massive suite, taking you by surprise.
"woah," you whispered to yourself. dick shrugged, "the other suitebox was bigger. there isn't even a recliner!" he explained. you looked at the room mesmerized, "some of us weren't born or raised into money, grayson," you replied off-handedly, "this is so cool!" you exclaimed excitedly.
all of you eventually found seats to be comfortable in as the game started. you sat next to bruce as the two of you spoke on and off. dick and jason, both who had bets placed on the game were being more loud than needed as tim off doing work in a corner and damian was sitting down, reading a book.
"enjoying the amenities?" bruce asked. you nodded, "it's amazing in here. i never thought i'd ever get to be in one of these," you said. bruce chuckled as dick ran over to the two of you with his phone out and camera on, "say cheese, quick," he said as you immediately did a goofy face and even did a peace sign along with dick.
"this is 100% going on the timeline," he said. you laughed, looking back to bruce, "thanks for inviting me tonight. i didn't appreciate the last minute press pool but this totally beats being inside of the office," you joked. bruce chuckled, putting his arm around your chair, "this doesn't have to be the only time we do this," he murmured quietly.
your eyebrows quirked in confusion, "huh?" you whispered. "lets do this again but this time without everyone screaming and yelling," he went on to explain. you knew bruce's reputation for being a very well known playboy, "i don't know, i'm not really in the mood to be played," you replied.
bruce shook his head no.
"who's playing games? dinner tomorrow sound good?" he asked. you thought on it for a moment as bruce looked down to his phone seeing a notification that dick uploaded something, "sure," you exasperated not fully confident but nevertheless agreeing to it. bruce smiled as you turned your attention back to the game.
bruce looked at the goofy picture dick uploaded of the three of you and smiled to himself even more. he always knew you'd make a great mother figure for damian.

New life of Omega Buck (series)
When Omega Buck comes back after the law suit fiasco everyone is pissed, Eddie is especially hurtful towards him. Omegas are extremely sensitive, and if they get too much negative emotions from their loved ones their eyes will become cloudy gray and they'll enter a catatonic state before they slowly die. After months of loneliness, Buck curls up in a bunk at the station. An annoyed Eddie finds him and is terrified by the state Buck is in. He bites Buck and bonds with him to save him
Wolves and Mates and Bears, Oh My!
Omega Buck is set to be married to Alpha Eddie after it is arranged. Eddie is in no mood for romance ever since his first mate Shannon left. Buck is always there for Chris but he gets rejected constantly by Eddie. One night Buck asks Eddie what he can do to get Eddie to accept him. Eddie sarcastically says to get him something like a bear's claw or a cougar heart. The next day Buck has disappeared. Eddie is frantic and Buck finally shows up, what state he's in is up to you
Give Yourself A Try
Buck is an omega, a rare breed. He’s faced adversity all his life, working extremely hard to get to his position at the 118. He doesn’t see the point in searching for an alpha (they’re all narrow-minded idiots anyway), until Eddie Diaz arrives in his life. or, Omega Buck doesn’t believe in love, Alpha Eddie makes it his mission to change that.
Home
Chris snuggling and scenting omega!Buck whenever possible because he smells like love/home/family.
Flames fueling the fight
ABO. Omega Buck is back with the team but they are anything but welcoming. Eddie is the most harsh with him. Buck tries not make amends and it works with everyone else but Eddie's stubborn. After a rough call where Buck almost bites it, Eddie shows up at Buck's place and Buck is done just taking Eddie's crap. They get into this appalling argument that triggers rut in Eddie and heat in Buck. Rage-fueled passion ensues and by the end of it they are irrevocably bound to each other a mates.
This family of mine
5 times the 118 show that they care for Buck, and the one time he shows them. - “People like them,” Buck spits back, voice loud and angry, “Are my family. I’m not just going to stand here and let you talk shit about them and let you walk all over them. They mean the world to me, and I would die before I let them get hurt.
One More Day
Eddie came forward, the first thing that he smelt was near death as the omega was reeking of fear and hate that he wanted to hug the omega but he didn’t want to frighten the omega, first thing first.“Is the omega going to live, Daddy?” Christopher asked, as he looked at his dad.
Nesting
Buck made a nest at Eddies house during the shooting. What happened when Eddie found out?
Tell me why (I wasn't enough)
Buck thought he and Eddie were heading towards becoming mates. He thought that Eddie cared about him, that he loved him. He was wrong. Or was he?
a place we both know
This whole thing is Bobby's fault. He's the one that suggested Eddie apply for the mate matching service, it was his idea to look for an Omega that would love and care for Christopher, to find a mate to be by Eddie's side. Eddie's gonna have to send him a fruit basket or something. It was the greatest idea Bobby's ever had and because of it they now they have Buck in their lives, in their pack and firmly nestled right in Eddie's heart.
how do i take your hand in my unlovable hand and know that i am not a thief?
“You don’t have a scent at all?” “I have it, I just got used not to show it,” Eddie answers and yeah, now Buck can feel that he’s an Alpha. It's a bizarre thing to witness. One moment, Eddie doesn’t smell like anyone and now Buck can clearly catch his scent. Like Eddie has a switch inserted in his glands. Eddie looks around the table again and laughs softly. “I feel like everyone wants me to show off, and no one is brave enough to ask for that”. (Or, Eddie knows that parts of him are broken beyond repair and it would be too selfish to ask Buck to settle for him. He's going to do it anyway.)
to be found
After being mistreated by his alpha for the last time, Buck abandons his pack and heads for the city where he’s found by Eddie - another werewolf who’s nothing like the ones Buck is used to. Eddie is gentle, kind, and has made a pack for himself and his son that Buck desperately wishes he could be a part of.
One Golden Glance of What Should Be
Eddie's perfectly content doing the day-to-day of his abuela's shop when a cute Omega comes in asking for help.
Time to Heal
After Buck found out Bobby was keeping him from work, he went into his nest and didn't come out. What happens when Eddie goes to check on his friend after not hearing from him, and finds out what's been going on?
Love that we wouldn't thought have
“Pheromone Disruption?” Eddie asks incredulously, interrupting Doctor Anderson. In his arms three month old Christopher snuffles and rubs his cold nose into his father’s forearm. Eddie pulls the pup closer to his chest. “Yes, Mr. Diaz,” doctor Anderson gives him a sad smile. Andy has been their family doctor since Eddie himself was a baby. He’s very close to Ramon and knows the situation Eddie is currently in. He knows how his child’s mother left them right after Eddie came from his deployment.
My Alpha
Omega!Eddie and Chris first nests at Buck’s house
You can't leave me
Eddie and Buck are mates. After the tsunami, Eddie is overwhelmed when Buck shows up without Chris. He sends Buck away. When Eddie finds Chris afterwards he realizes what a terrible mistake he made. Buck gives himself up. Sent away too many times in his life, he hides in a cave to die. Eddie does everything to get his mate back.
Nesting-Alternate Version
Buck made a nest at Eddie's house during the shooting. Eddie was okay with it and even helped Buck feel more at home in his house. But what happened when Ana found out?
Of Heats and Firefighters
Eddie and Christopher are away for a wedding, and Buck can finally go through his mandatory heat. Things aren't going as planned.
bond with you
Buck and Eddie are dating, but Eddie hasn't bonded with Buck yet, which brings out some of Buck's insecurities.
I’m Begging you to be my Escape
Buck's parents despise him for being an omega, Maddie the only one who loves him. Buck is devastated when he learns that his parents have arranged for him to bond with a member of Alpha prime Bobby's pack, a secondary alpha named Eddie. Buck is terrified and doesn't even meet Eddie till the bonding ceremony. Eddie himself is apprehensive since Shannon's abandonment. They bond and Buck adores Chris but he and Eddie have a long road ahead.
Wish I was anything else
Buck was born an Alpha but he never felt like he was one, he wanted to be anything else. This issue was never a big problem before, that's until he realizes he has feelings for his best friend who is also an Alpha. They could never be together right? That's not possible or is it?
home and safe
Buck's parents have found him a new alpha, after his last alpha didn't work out. Maddie's not happy, and neither is Buck. But, when Buck meets his new alpha, he realizes that this alpha may not be like most alpha's he's met in the past.
i kinda want to be more than friends (so take it easy on me.)
Buck stays with Eddie while he recovers and when he goes back to work, he reeks of Eddie's scent.
The Stray Pup
Buck's a lone wolf and an Alpha, the last person who should end up with a pup… and yet, now he has one.
(I don't want) no one else
Snapshots of their life together before and after Eddie works up the courage to tell Buck that he’s Christopher’s father. He gets there. Eventually. Or… Eddie is 20 and on a military base in the Middle East when he meets a 19 year old Navy Seal. He has big news to share when they find each other seven years later.
Curled Up In The Nest
Chris asks to join Buck and Eddie in the nest. Chris ends up regretting it, but only a little bit.
Blind To Everyone But You
Eddie Diaz knew that Evan Buckley was his mate the first time he met him, but he's married with a son, and Buck doesn't seem interested. So, Eddie resolves to be his work-partner and friend at the very least. Evan Buckley thought the way he felt when he first met Eddie was a fight or flight response, not his body telling him that Eddie was his alpha. After a long-awaited conversation, they agree to take it slow and get to know each other in a new way. That is, until Chris' pretty English teacher sets her sights on Eddie, and Buck suddenly has to face the thought of losing what he's always wanted....
Only you can save me
After the grocery store argument, omega Buck feels rejected by his pack.

Thursday evening, Namjoon finds himself trudging home from Jin Hit Entertainment. The minute he steps into his home, however, he’s immediately bombarded with three bodies. Taehyung and Jimin cling to each of his legs, Jungkook standing slightly behind. Hoseok follows the boys, smiling at Namjoon.
“Any luck with your next song?” Hoseok asks, Namjoon shaking his head. For the last week and a half, ever since your disastrous end to an almost perfect date, Namjoon had thrown himself into his work to try and take his mind off of you.
“Daddy! Let’s go to the aquarium!” Jimin suggests with a bright toothy smile on his face, his cheeks squishing up into his eyes. Namjoon freezes, Hoseok looking at his age-mate and best friend in sympathy.
"Please daddy! We wanna see noona," Taehyung pouts. The entire time, Jungkook keeps quiet, looking at his father expectantly.
"I don't know if that's a good idea buddy," Namjoon begins, already grimacing from the way Jimin's eyes begin tearing up.
"I wanna see noona," Jungkook calls out. Namjoon sighs.
"I don't know if we can Kook," Namjoon replies. Namjoon can't help but wonder if you even wanted to see them.
"But it's Thursday daddy! We always see noona at the aquayum on Thursday," Jungkook answers back, stomping his little foot while his eyebrows furrow. This was what Namjoon hadn't wanted. How the hell was he supposed to explain to his sons that they may never see you again?
"Kookie, calm down," Hoseok says, trying to placate Jungkook. Jungkook, however, only grows more agitated, his eyes tearing up.
"I wanna see noona!" Jungkook repeats, his voice growing louder.
"Daddy, please! Let's go see noona," Taehyung pipes in, tugging at Namjoon's legs. Namjoon's heart grips, and he wonders if he'd made a mistake by asking you out.
"Take me to see noona!" Jungkook cries. Jungkook’s words, paired with the exhaustion Namjoon feels from work along with Jimin and Taehyung's cries cause him to finally snap.
"No! We're not seeing noona today," Namjoon finally yells. Jimin and Taehyung freeze, and instantly, they let go off their father's trouser legs as they look at him in fear. Jimin shies away, eyes downcast at having upset his father. Jungkook's face scrunches up further, clear devastation written all over his face while Taehyung’s bottom lip trembles. Namjoon's face softens as he realises that he'd just yelled at his sons out of frustration.
"I'm sorry-" Namjoon begins apologising, but before he can even finish his sentence, Jungkook turns and runs away and up the stairs, towards his room. Jimin sniffles, Taehyung grabbing his hand as they both follow Jungkook. Namjoon lets out another sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"Damn, I haven't seen you this worked up in a while. You wanna talk about it?" Hoseok asks, looking at Namjoon in worry. Namjoon simply shakes his head, letting out another frustrated sigh.
"It's just... Everything was going so well, and I had to ruin it. Now the boys miss her and more than that I miss her - but I also know I need to give her her space. I just… I need to know if she’s coming back… And if she doesn't, I don't know how to tell the boys that they'll never see her again," Namjoon mumbles, his heart clenching in his chest.
"You didn't ruin anything. She loves the boys and she really likes you. You just need to give her some time because I can understand where she's coming from. Being a parent isn't an easy task, she probably needs time to make her decision," Hoseok says sympathetically, walking up to Namjoon before placing his hand on Namjoon’s shoulder.
"What if her decision is that she doesn't want to be with me? Or that she doesn't want to be their mother?" Namjoon whispers, dread washing over him as he utters the words out loud. Hoseok empathetically pats Namjoon's back.
"I'm sure it won't come to that. Though if it does, well, we'll burn that bridge when we get to it," Hoseok replies, Namjoon humourlessly chuckling. With an exhausted exhale, he rubs his face before following his sons, knowing he needed to make amends.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, you sit in your office, poring over the different papers littered around your desk. Most of them are just charts and health records of the different marine mammals at the aquarium. You should be going through them and updating your online records, but you simply can't concentrate. Your eyes continuously flick towards the watch on your wrist. With a sigh of frustration, you push the papers away from you. This isn’t working. Your brain is far too preoccupied with whether Namjoon will bring the boys to the aquarium or not. It’s nearing closing time, which meant that any moment Namjoon should text you saying he'd be bringing the boys over.
You wait for several minutes. Time ticks incredibly slowly, the clock in your office practically mocking you with each tick. Fifteen minutes later, you realise that Namjoon isn't coming. You can't help the sinking feeling in your stomach. Is he mad at you? He has every right to be. You still aren’t sure whether you are ready to be a mother. It’s a huge task. More than that, however, you have no idea how to be a mother or have people rely on you the way children rely on a parent.
With the knowledge that Namjoon isn't coming with the boys, you hunch back over your papers, ready to do some actual work. Taking those few days off to take care of the boys had been a bad idea. You’re the head veterinarian, and with your absence, the paperwork has built up considerably more than you had anticipated. A fond smile crawls onto your lips, and involuntarily, you lean back into your seat, staring at the wall across from you. You can’t help but remember how you'd had to rub Jimin's soft little belly to 'help' with the ache. It was definitely a hoax, but it had worked as a brilliant placebo, instantly calming Jimin's cries.
Your mind wanders further, remembering the way Taehyung had sleepily waddled up to you, begging for a story despite being half asleep. His words had only caused Jungkook and Jimin to gravitate towards you, and before you could even say no, they'd already dragged you to their father's room for a bedtime story.
Suddenly, the smile on your face curves downwards, a pensive frown on your face. You shake your head, trying to clear your thoughts. You have work to do! You can’t just sit here reminiscing over the boys. Though try as hard as you may, your mind simply refuses to focus on the papers in front of you, and you find your thoughts once again wandering. You wonder if Jimin has finished his antibiotics and if he and Taehyung are happily playing pirates in the mud much to their father's chagrin. When Jungkook's face flashes into your mind, you find yourself smiling softly, and you wonder if he’s doing okay.
Immediately, you freeze, eyes wide. You’re missing them - but it isn’t just that you were missing them. You’re worried about them - worried if they’re okay; if they’re listening to Namjoon; if they’re missing you as much as you’re missing them. The chiming of your phone draws your attention. Your heart speeds up with hope, eyes momentarily flicking towards the clock on your office wall. Is it Namjoon? Perhaps he was running late but is bringing the boys after all. Quickly, you grab your phone, swiftly unlocking it.
Your shoulders slump. It's not Namjoon. Disappointment sinks into your stomach, and you lean back in your seat once again.
Now, your mind wanders to the man who had been occupying your heart and mind lately. His words from your date echo in your mind. You wanted to be with Namjoon, your heart practically yearns for him, and you miss not only him, but the boys too - for every day this past week and a half that you hadn't seen them. Recently, they'd been a constant in your life. You want to see them, but you knew you couldn't without making a decision. Are you ready to be a mother? Are you ready to give Namjoon that much commitment? All your worries swirl in your head. There are so many what-ifs. What if the boys don’t want you to be their mother? What if you and Namjoon break up? What if it turns out you’re a terrible parental figure?
The chiming of your phone once again draws your attention. Picking up your phone, you frown slightly when Hoseok's name flashes across the screen. You unlock your phone before opening your texts. The minute your eyes read the message, your heart grips. 'Missing you' is the only thing the text reads, but attached to the message is a picture of Namjoon and the boys cuddled up on the sofa. You swallow thickly, and before you know what you're doing, you're getting up and grabbing your coat. That single message had finally made you come to a decision.
It doesn’t matter that you’re scared. You want to be with them, and that’s all that matters.
Tumblr media
Almost two hours later, you find yourself in front of Namjoon’s door. You’ve no idea how long you’ve been standing outside, contemplating whether to knock or not. The burgers and chips you’ve bought as a poor attempt at a peace offering have probably gone cold by now, yet you can’t seem to bring yourself to knock or ring the doorbell. Stepping back, you pace along the length of the porch. Is it alright for you to stop by so suddenly - especially after the way you had practically run out on Namjoon? Perhaps this is a bad idea. Despite your negative thoughts, your feet stay rooted to the ground, staring at the dark wood of Namjoon’s front door.
The image of Namjoon and the boys cuddling flashes through your mind, and before you can stop yourself, your hand reaches out to ring the doorbell. Thunderously, your heart palpitates in your chest, and your palms turn sweaty. Pulling your lip between your teeth, you chew on the flesh, almost breaking the skin. Time moves excruciatingly slowly, the moments drawn out as you await someone to answer the door. After what feels like an eternity, Namjoon’s face appears on the intercom.
“Oh,” Namjoon says, sucking in a sharp breath when he spots you on the other side of the camera. You shuffle from one foot to the other, looking at him sheepishly.
“Can-” you start, your voice already shaky. Your fist clenches, nails digging painfully into your palm as you steel your nerves. “Can I come in?” you manage to choke out.
“I- Let me come to you,” Namjoon says, and then you hear the click of the intercom as it turns black. You can’t help the way your heart plummets it your chest, though you know it’s completely deserving for Namjoon to be sceptical. Moments later, the front door opens, and you shuffle back. Namjoon is dressed casually in loose shorts and a sleeveless top, his arms on display. Arms you long to be nestled in. Swallowing thickly, you fight to focus on your thoughts, knowing you’d have to explain yourself.
“What are you doing here?” Namjoon asks, looking at you warily. There’s a small inkling of hope in his eyes, however, it’s drowned out by the hesitation in them.
“I- I missed you,” you breathe out. Your voice is barely above a whisper and so full of emotion that it automatically has your heart gripping. Namjoon’ eyes soften slightly, and he lets out a small sigh.
“I- we missed you too, but we’re gonna need more than that,” Namjoon says, correcting his words to include his sons. Hastily, you blink, trying to suppress the tears welling up in your eyes.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry. I was just running scared because I hadn’t really thought about being a mother to the boys and what it meant to really be with you. Then you said all those things, and I just- it was too much for me. I got out of a really, really bad relationship a year and a half ago, and I didn’t expect to meet someone else. I didn’t expect to meet you, and I certainly didn’t expect to fall for you, and it just… it terrified me. I didn’t know what to do, so I ran, but then this week… I missed you and the boys so much and-” you’re rambling at this point, words just tumbling out of your mouth, and you hope to whatever god is out there that they make sense. You take in a deep, shuddering breath as you attempt to calm your nerves, “what I’m trying to say is, I want to try. I want to be with you, and I want to be a mother to the boys,” you finish, looking at him earnestly.
“I-” Namjoon begins, unsure of what to say. There’s so much he wants. He wants to tell you it’s okay and he understands. He wants to pull you in his arms and kiss you senseless. He wants to tell you he may, quite possibly, be in love with you. Despite all his wants, however, he needs to make sure this is what you really want. “I want to try too, but… but I can’t just let someone into my life who’s not going to stay. I can’t let someone in and have the boys fall in love with them just for them to leave us. I want to be with you too, but I need commitment. I need security,” Namjoon breathes out. He needs you to be sure.
“I know. I want to be the one to give you that,” you reply without hesitation. Namjoon’s eyes widen slightly. Abruptly, his eyes search yours, looking for any, any shred of apprehension. He finds none. You’ve never been more sure of anything in your life.
Unable to resist, Namjoon steps forward. Instantly, his hands cup your cheeks, and then he’s pulling you into him. The minute his lips caress yours, your hand lets go of the carrier bag containing the food, and it drops with a thud, undoubtedly messing up the burgers, but you don’t care. Instead, your hands thread through the hair at the nape of his neck, drawing him closer to you. You step closer, your chests touching as you sink into the feeling of your kiss.
Time seems to gradually slow down until it comes to a halt and the world slowly fades away. The taste of Namjoon’s lips slowly drives you wild, his tongue licking the seam of your mouth. With a gasp, your mouth slowly falls open, allowing his tongue to poke through into your warm cavern. His grip on your cheeks is strong, fingers splaying into your hair as his tongue languidly moves against yours. Tongues dance sensually, almost erotically, and you find yourself moaning into his mouth. When Namjoon pulls your bottom lip between his plump, albeit slightly chapped, lips you gasp, your toes curling.
You’re completely wired, almost overwhelmed with all the sensations. His tongue is sweet against yours, and you can taste his strawberry chapstick on your lips while his breath fans across your face. You feel his fingers thread into your hair, pulling you closer until his lips practically crush into yours, mouths moving in tandem. It almost feels as if he’s trying to meld you together, wanting to feel you as close as is physically possible without you coalescing into one being.
Deliberately, you ignore that gradual ache that builds deep within your chest, your lungs practically crying for oxygen. You want to feel him more, taste him more, hear more of the little moans and breathless sighs that leave his lips and circulate the air. You have no idea how long you’re both locked in your embrace, refusing to pull away from the other. Eventually, however, the ache ignites so viciously that you both pull away, gasping.
His breath is hot and heavy against your chin as he pants. You’re no better, chest heaving as you try to appease the burn. Namjoon, recovering faster, presses his lips to your swollen ones once again, desperately wanting to taste you. You moan against his lips.
This time, your kiss isn’t as mellow but is, instead, needier. His tongue practically ravishes yours, lashing in your mouth with expert strokes. The way he leaves you senseless is completely unfair, and you chalk it down to his rapper status. Namjoon’s tongue is practically a weapon, expertly curling and twisting in your mouth in intricate moves. So intricate, in fact, that you wonder if it had a mind of its own. Is it even humanly possible for a tongue to be that agile?
Short moments later, you’re once again breaking the kiss. Your lungs still hadn’t recovered from your previous kiss, and once again, he leaves you completely breathless. Namjoon allows you to recover, thumb rubbing at your cheek as he brushes his nose against yours. You mewl under his actions, eyes slowly fluttering open. You don’t even remember exactly when they had shut. His visage is the first thing that greets your eyes, his onyx irises swimming with emotion.
“Gods, I missed you,” Namjoon breathes out, his lips skimming yours once again.
“I’m here now,” you murmur, relishing in the scent of burnt amber and sweet vanilla that lingers around him.
“Namjoonie is everything okay?” Hoseok’s voice breaks out. The result is jarring, and you’re immediately broken out of the bubble you and Namjoon had found yourselves in. You blink owlishly before turning to look at the newcomer. Hoseok looks between you two, his face passive but his eyes questioning. Namjoon doesn’t pull away; his eyes remain glued to you while his thumb moves to caress your lip.
“Everything is perfect,” Namjoon replies, and you smile tenderly at him, kissing the pad of his thumb.
“As happy as I am for the two of you, this is kind of getting gross,” Hoseok says, his eyes twinkling with mirth. Namjoon lets out an exasperated sigh while he rolls his eyes.
“Shut up Hobi,” you mutter, poking your tongue out at him.
“Well, now that you’ve got this all under control. The boys are demanding you watch a movie during dinner, but I’m exhausted so I’m gonna head off. Be safe kids,” Hoseok chuckles with a teasing wink. You watch as Hoseok waves goodbye before he’s walking off towards his car.
“I love him, but he can be really annoying,” you scowl, muttering under your breath. Namjoon’s lips curl upwards lopsidedly, the dimples in his cheeks indenting. Your heart leaps into your throat at the sight of his smile. Out of everything you had missed the past week and a half; his smile was probably the thing you missed the most. Once again, he pulls your face closer to him before his lips caress your forehead.
“Come on, let’s go in. The boys really missed you today. They wanted me to take them to the aquarium, but… I wasn’t sure if you wanted me to come...” Namjoon trails off, rubbing the back of his neck. Your chest contracts, heart dropping before you reach up, leaning your palms on his chest, and kiss the corner of his lush lips.
“I wanted you to come - but it’s okay,” you say. Namjoon grabs your hands on his chest and brushes his lips across the knuckles. He watches as you bend down to grab the food bag before he drags you inside. You follow his broad figure, allowing him to lead you towards the living room. The minute you step into the living room, the boys’ heads snap towards you. Jungkook’s eyes light up. Immediately, he climbs off the couch and runs towards you, his little feet carrying him as quick as they can. Jimin and Taehyung follow his lead, not too far behind.
“Noona!” Jungkook cries, throwing himself into your legs.
“Gukkie! Hi baby, did you miss noona?” you ask. You peel Jungkook from your legs before crouching down to his level. Jungkook nods enthusiastically, the little pouch in his cheek puffing out.
“Me too! Me too! I missed noona too!” Taehyung says, small fists tightening into your trousers. Jimin doesn’t say anything, instead, just holding tightly onto the material by your elbow. Reflexively, your heart lurches in your chest. How were you going to walk out on them just a short while back? You had almost made the worst decision of your life by running scared. Drawing in a deep breath, you tenderly pet Jungkook’s head before smiling at the twins.
“I missed you boys too,” you reply, pulling them in for a hug. Here and now, with them in your arms, you know that this is the best decision you have ever made. Namjoon smiles softly at the scene. He grabs the plastic bag of food and rummages through it before looking at you curiously.
“Hamburgers?”
“Yeah, I didn’t know what to pick up, but I know they’re Taehyung’s favourite,” you reply as you stand up. Taehyung’s eyes twinkle with joy before he’s running towards his father.
“Hamburgers! Daddy, hamburgers!” Taehyung joyfully yells, jumping up and down. Namjoon tuts and pulls the bag higher out of Taehyung’s reach.
“Calm down tiger. Boys, stay with noona, and pick a film, I’ll grab plates and cups,” Namjoon says. Immediately, Jungkook grabs your hand, dragging you towards the shelf filled with DVDs while he runs his mouth.
“OH!” Jungkook gasps before he’s standing on his tiptoes, fingertips stretching for a DVD. Aiding him, you pull it out and hand the case towards coconut haired boy.
“Let’s watch Toy Stoyee!” Jungkook cheers, holding up the DVD case triumphantly.
“No! I wanna watch Mulan!” Taehyung says, eyebrows knitting together.
“No! Buzz!” Jungkook replies, his features scrunched into a scowl. Jimin stands beside you, watching as Jungkook and Taehyung begin their little back and forth of ‘Toy Story’ and ‘Mulan’. You have no idea what to do, should you say something? Did you have a right to intervene? You’re shocked, however, when in a fit of rage, Jungkook throws the DVD case down, pushing Taehyung.
“Toy Stoyee!” Jungkook yells as Taehyung tumbles to the ground. Instinctively, you dive forward and catch Taehyung before he can fall. Taehyung’s bottom lip quivers before he’s spinning in your arms and crying into your stomach.
“Jungkook! That’s not nice, you don’t push,” you chastise, gently hushing Taehyung as his tears soak through your shirt. Jungkook’s flinches, having never been yelled at by you, eyes tearing up at the way you comfort Taehyung.
“Taehyungie, it’s okay. He didn’t mean it,” you coo, gently petting Taehyung’s hair.
“Noona I’m soyee,” Jungkook whimpers. Eyes softening, you gesture him over. Without a second thought, Jungkook rushes towards you, clinging to your thigh as he cries into your hip. Jimin turns away from you as you continue comforting both the crying boys and walks towards the shelf, looking over at it with curious eyes.
“There, there. It’s okay,” you murmur, softly patting both their backs until they calm down. Once the crying stifles to little sniffles, you pull them both away from you.
“Better?” you ask, both of them nodding. “Good, now Kookie, I want you to apologise to Taehyungie. It’s not nice to push,” you say firmly, giving him a pointed look. Jungkook pouts, his tongue poking into his cheek before he murmurs his apology while staring at his feet.
“It’s okay Gukkie,” Taehyung says, wiping away his tears before sending a large, toothy boxed smiled towards his younger brother. Jungkook nods, holding tightly onto your hand as he buries his face into your thigh.
“What do you wanna watch noona?” Jimin asks, and you find your face crumpling at how adorably thoughtful Jimin was.
“I don’t mind. Since Kookie and Tae can’t choose a film, why don’t you choose?” you suggest with a soft smile. Jimin cocks his head before nodding and turning back to the shelf stocked with DVDs. Suddenly, his eyes light up and he pulls a case off the shelf.
“Nemo! Let’s watch Nemo! Daddy likes Nemo! Do you like Nemo, noona?” Jimin asks, his little legs carrying him over towards you. He stops just in front of you, holding up the DVD while he smiles brightly. The way his cheeks bunch up into his eyes, his lids turning into half-moons has your heart clenching from how absolutely adorable he is.
“Okay, I’ve got everything here. It took a while to reheat ever- is everything alright?” Namjoon asks in alarm as his eyes sweep over Taehyung’s puffy eyes and Jungkook clinging onto you desperately.
“Everything is fine, Tae and Kook just got into a little argument,” you reply with a reassuring smile. Namjoon lets out an exasperated sigh before nodding.
“Alright, as long as it’s all under control. Have you picked a film?” Namjoon asks, placing down the tray of burgers, fries, and drinks.
“Mhm. We’ve settled on Finding Nemo, haven’t we puppy?” you ask, turning to Jimin. The boy in question nods enthusiastically, running towards his father and handing him the DVD.
The five of you settle on the sofa as the first scene begins to play. Taehyung happily sits between you and Namjoon, munching on his hamburger, eyes barely focused on the film. Jungkook clings to you, scarfing down his burger so quickly you were worried he’d get the hiccups or worse, a stomach ache, but he soldiers on, completely unbothered. Jimin practically lies on Namjoon’s lap, picking at his fries every now and then, completely engrossed in the film.
For the most of it, it’s pretty quiet, and halfway through the film - when everyone has long since finished their dinner - the boys slowly start drifting off to sleep. You briefly glance at the watch strapped to your wrist, realising it was well past their bedtime. Jungkook’s head falls onto your stomach, Taehyung’s legs in your lap as his head rests against Namjoon’s side, hair flopping in front of his eyes. Jimin has completely crawled into Namjoon’s lap, small arms thrown over his father’s stomach as small snores escape his plump lips.
“Do you think we should-” you begin, wondering whether you should move the boys to their rooms. Namjoon, however, is completely engrossed in the film, eyes sparkling at the characters. When you speak, he turns towards you, cutting you off.
“Do I think we should get a fish tank? Yes,” Namjoon says. The first thing that strikes you is that he’s so engrossed in the film that he hasn’t even realised his sons have fallen into a deep sleep. The second thing that strikes you is his use of ‘we’ as if you had any say in what he did in his own home. It makes it seem as if you’re a permanent part of his life -as if he considered you part of his family. The word causes your heart to soar. You’ve never loved the word ‘we’ so much.
“No, that’s not what I was going to say, but if you really want one I don’t see why we can’t get one. Anyway, what I was going to say was, do you think we should take the boys to bed?” you ask, finishing off your previous sentence. Namjoon blinks, expression blank, and then he turns to his sons, eyes expanding as if he’d only just realises his sons were next to him. Immediately, his cheeks heat.
“Oh, yeah. We probably should,” Namjoon says, but you don’t miss the way his eyes momentarily flick toward the TV, almost glimpsing longingly at the film. You roll your eyes in exasperation.
“Come on you big baby, we can finish the film later,” you reply already picking up Jungkook. Namjoon lets out a small sigh before turning off the TV.
“No, it’s fine. I’m kinda tired now anyway,” Namjoon yawns before he picks up both Jimin and Taehyung, one in each arm. You gulp when you notice the way his muscles ripple, corded flesh flexing under his tan skin. Has he always been that muscular? Surely not.
Namjoon leads the way upstairs, and carefully you follow, trying your hardest not to wake up the sleeping boy in your arm. Soon, however, you realise another problem - mainly, that Namjoon was slightly ahead of you. Climbing up the stairs, he gives you a perfect view of his ass in his loose shorts. The material billows around him with each step, only accentuating the shape of his taut cheeks. You swallow thickly as you attempt to fight off your traitorous thoughts.
Luckily for you, the flight of stairs is relatively short. The sigh of relief that escapes your lips when the torture ends is almost inaudible. Almost. Namjoon quirks an eyebrow at you curiously, and your cheeks flush in embarrassment before you shake your head. Namjoon’s face contorts as he looks at you strangely. Pointedly, you ignore him, walking into Jungkook’s room instead. Namjoon stares at your back in confusion before he shrugs it off and enters the twins’ bedroom.
As gently as you can, you place Jungkook in his little race car bed before tucking him under the covers. Instead of immediately leaving, however, you pause and perch on the side of the bed. Your eyes wander over his figure, his little cheek swelling onto his pillow as thin lips pull into a pout. Unhesitantly, you find yourself reaching out and brushing the wisps of his hair out of his forehead, admiring how soft his locks are.
That’s how Namjoon finds you. When you don’t emerge out of the bedroom, he gets slightly worried and follows you into Jungkook’s room. He stops short, however, when he notices the way you tenderly stroke Jungkook’s hair. Leaning against the doorway, Namjoon can’t help the way his heart soars at how attentive you were being. Initially, when you’d appeared at his doorstep, he’d been worried that somehow, sometime, you’d start running scared. However, seeing the way you oh so gently, incredibly tenderly, caress Jungkook’s cheek, he knows you won’t be running scared any longer.
He almost hates himself when he lets out a quiet cough, breaking up the affectionate scene. You still, head snapping to face him. Instantly, you know you’ve been caught red-handed. You smile sheepishly at him, Namjoon returning his own soft smile before reaching out his hand towards you. Tenderly, you grab his hand, marvelling at his large palm in yours. It practically dwarfs your own hand. Namjoon leads you out of the rooms, but, before he can lead you back downstairs, you halt and tug his hand. Namjoon stops and turns to you, looking at you questioningly.
“I don’t have work tomorrow, I took the day off,” you nervously reply, your hand almost imperceptibly trembling in his - out of anticipation or anxiousness, you have no idea. Namjoon blinks at you dumbly.
“With the amount of days you’re taking off they’re going to fire you,” Namjoon points out. He clearly did not get the hidden meaning behind your words. You find yourself unable to prevent your eyes from rolling. Honestly, how was he so clever and yet so oblivious at the same time? Though, you muse, it only added to his charm.
“Yes, well, it’s a good thing I have a rich boyfriend then,” you joke. Your mouth moves before you can even ponder the words as they spill from your mouth. Then, you both freeze. Your words are heavy and linger in the air. Namjoon looks at you, eyes wide and irises slightly blown out.
“I- sorry, is that okay? I don’t want to assume,” you quickly blurt out. Namjoon, however, is immediately pulling your hand and you stumble into him. As a way to brace yourself, your hands find themselves on his chest, feeling the defined pecs. Namjoon doesn’t waste a single second. Instantaneously, he lowers his head, and before long, his luscious lips find themselves on yours. The kiss is brief, Namjoon’s hand moving to cup your chin, thumb caressing your cheek. When he pulls away, you let out a little sigh, your lips chasing his.
“You’re not assuming. It’s… perfect,” Namjoon answers. His gaze upon you is dark and intense, eyes swimming with so much emotion that it almost leaves you breathless. You pull your lip between your teeth, chewing on it nervously. Then, you take in a breath and gather the courage to utter your next words.
“You know… if I’m not working… it means I have nowhere to be tomorrow,” you breathe out as your eyes purposely flick to his bedroom. Namjoon sucks in sharp breath, almost hitching. His eyes darken slightly as he finally catches onto the meaning of your words. You watch the way his pupils dilate, his eyes searching yours for any sign of hesitation. When he finds none, he lowers his head once again, pressing his lips against yours briefly.
Then, he takes you by the hand and leads you to his room.

RNM 2x05 - I'll Stand By You
So just a little note from me, the person behind the season 2 detailing.  I am trying really really hard to keep emotion out of these posts...which is really really hard for me because I'm an inherently emotional person. I'm a glass case of emotion, ready to shatter at any given moment. (#dramatic)  But I want to be true to the intent of this blog and keep my feelings, biases, and, you know, shipping out of this blog.
It was really really hard to do with this episode. Because I straight up ugly cried for like, 45 of the 60 minutes. 😂
So I guess, the point is, I'm proud of myself and sticking to the details here. My regular blog is where I'm doing the emotional flip out thing! 😂
EPISODE SUMMARY:
ACCEPTING REALITY — The discovery of some complications with Max’s (Nathan Dean) pod forces Liz (Jeanine Mason), Michael (Michael Vlamis) and Isobel (Lily Cowles) to confront the possibility that they may not be able to save him. Elsewhere, Maria (Heather Hemmens) and Alex (Tyler Blackburn) make amends. Kimberly McCullough directed the episode written by Alanna Bennett & Jason Gavin (#205). Original airdate 4/13/2020.
DETAILS:
Max/Isobel/Michael reunite at age 11 according to what Michael tells Alex in 1x10.  So that would make the opening of this episode set in 2002ish.
Michael tells Max and Isobel, "I remember you. I don't know you."
"After nobody adopted me for a year they just stuck me with the name of that trucker who found us."
"I didn't ask you for anything."
This is like the thesis statement of Michael's whole history with Max in the flashbacks.
"Don't pay more than you collect, kid. Passing credit back and forth is a good way to get stuck with somebody forever."
Rosa's art.
Tumblr media
What I can see says: "...what they all told me, but I didn't listen" and "Stand the shelter".
Rosa on her dreams
"I have not had any freaky dreams in weeks. Okay, Max is probably off haunting Isobel now that they're strong enough for their psychic twincest weirdness."
"How long has that been happening?"
"Um, I don't know. It's an old boom box."
"Rosa, have electrical appliances been malfunctioning around you?"
"I really thought it was just a side effect of the handprint."
"If being in the pod introduced a new protein into your system it could have altered your DNA too. You could be developing abilities."
"Liz, look. The handprint is changing.  It's smaller."
"It's fading."
"Tell me this is a good thing."
"I don't think so."
Michael and Liz theorizing on why the pod shorted out:
"The pod's got a charge. It's like a battery powering the preservation process. This one's gone dead."
"Did the generator blow the electromagnetic threshold?"
"I think a surge came from the pod itself. But that pod has lasted almost a century. It shouldn't glitch out."
"Okay, well, then, this one did."
"All right, stop. It doesn't matter why the pod is broken. It just is. So how long does Max have?"
"My theory is that being tethered to Rosa through the mark is what kept Max from going brain-dead, and in turn the stasis process is what kept the mark from fading. So he could be gone by tonight."
"Okay, well, we have three more pods. So let's just put him into another pod."
"No. He's just gonna do it again. I haven't told you everything. I didn't want to scare you. I didn't want to be the one that took the hope away."
"Talk now, Rosa. Right now."
"I was seeing Max in my nightmares months before I told you about it, and he was begging me to stop you. He said that he was in a lot of pain in there."
"That's Noah's pod. Noah told us it was broken. It wasn't keeping him in stasis. He could feel time passing. None of us thought of that."
"We've been doing everything we can to make Max stronger. He pulled his own plug."
Note...as far as we know Isobel was the only one who knew about Noah's pod being broken.  In 1x12 it was before Liz arrived at the house that he told them about the broken pod, so only Max and Isobel heard that part of the story.
Alex on his training. "NSA intelligence cryptology training".
Monitor screen in the secret lab:

Noah's heart is still too weak to transplant. Kyle says it needs at least eight more weeks
"I wrote a paper for a bioethics class on patients in vegetative states who feel pain. Sometimes it's all they feel."
As a non sciencey person, I was wondering if bioethics class was a real thing. Tonight I saw an interview on the news with a UC Berkeley bioethics professor on COVID. So yes, it's a thing.
Alex on Michael that summer post-Rosa's death:
Starting fights with jocks
Broke into the drugstore
Not going to UNM
Hasn't hung out with Max all summer
Got busted for stealing hubcaps (Kyle's hubcaps, we learn later)
Became a walking bar fight
Was in jail when Alex left to enlist
Michael on Max in 2008:
"It's more than that. And it's less than that. We were friends when we were kids, but now Max reminds me of a bunch of stuff that I'd rather forget. The only thing that we have in common anymore is Isobel."
Max's yearbook had a pencil stuck in the page with Liz and Max's photo in it. (The one we first saw in 1x03).
"Biology Club. Max hated science. He was in that club for four years just to watch your sister chew on the end of her pencil."
Max's mindscape:
First just desert, clouds, and then lightning strikes (destructive energy?)
Liz's antennae -- they disappear from Isobel's hands

Rosa describes it as broken
Crashdown special is Max's favorite "Little Green Man milkshake".
The Crashdown counter is kind of merged with biology lab equipment.
The juke box is there
The Crashdown booths
Jeep
Neon Crashdown sign
One of those claw drop game machines (from the Crashdown) but it's filled with baked good displays.

Later, everything else is gone except the one Crashdown booth, the Jeep, and the neon sign.

The distorted music they follow to find Max is the Cactus Groove song in the music list...just, messed around with. See @angsty-nerd's post here:
"I'm the hothead. You are the hero. It's always been that way."
"You stole the hubcaps off Kyle Valenti's graduation present. Both his parents are cops. Do you want to end up in jail tonight?".
👀 Tonight, specifically.
Michael seemed excited about the job at Foster's Ranch until he found out that Max set it up for him.  Max found out about it from his dad (only like the 2nd or 3rd mention of his dad in the series so far).
"When I got back in town I asked Max why you and your brilliant mind hadn't changed the world yet. He said you didn't care about the world enough to bother changing it. He believed you could."
Max and Isobel in the mindscape:
"You're okay. I could feel something was wrong with you.  Everything felt…"
"Cold. I know."
"You can't be here. It's finally ending.  I can feel it. But I don't know what happens if you're in my head when I die."
"So it's true? You want this?"
"I could feel my connection to the outside world getting stronger, so I snapped. I couldn't take it anymore. I released a surge. You have to let me go, Iz."
"I can't take it anymore."
"Okay."
"I am so sorry."
"I just want to memorize this."
"Okay. Okay.  I need you to tell Liz something."
"You can tell her yourself.  She and Kyle are prepping for surgery.  They're going to use the faulty heart. She just wants to talk to you before you die."
"No. No."
"You won't be suffering. They're just gonna bring you back and then let you go."
"No you have to stop this.  You cannot bring me back under any circumstances."
"Max? What is really going on?"
"I am dangerous.  Whatever Liz is bringing back is not me. It's just some broken shell."
Maria on her mom's computer
"Her nurse said that for the two weeks before she went missing, when she wasn't trying to escape, she was talking to someone online."
The 21st birthday flashback
Isobel gets Michael to help move Max after getting drunk on tequila.  He passed out in front of the tattoo parlor. It's the same tattoo parlor Michael goes to at the end of the episode.
Max's weird drunken statement.
"The thing is, there has to be there. Okay? There's always three. Until the very end.  I'll show you...What it means is you should be here…'cause it's all broken without three. So we'll figure it out.  You'll find your way back."
👀 Until the very end. Interesting.
On Max becoming a deputy:
"You know he did the whole police academy thing because of you, right? He thinks you're gonna get into the kind of trouble you can't get out of if you don't know someone."
Back in the mindscape:
"I figured it all out. She, there's an energy to suffering, there's an energy to death, and when I heal people, I absorb that energy. So when I resurrected Rosa, I took in ten years of emptiness. So if you resurrect me, you will be bringing back an infection. Don't want… I don't want to come back as a monster. I don't want to hurt anyone that I care about."
"That's what this is about? We've been hurting, Max. We don't work without you."
"You will! You will. You are stronger now than when I died. All of you are. You, Michael, Liz, you will survive this. The three of you. No, you need to stop them, Iz. Now."
"Okay. I love you."
"You too." Isobel disappears.
Max is using pretty similar wording to his drunken rambles in the 21st birthday flashback
We don't see that Max is chained down until this next exchange with Rosa. Isobel didn't see that detail as far as we know.  Didn't hear the chains clanking when they stood and hugged. Only after Isobel left.
Tumblr media
"I'm sorry this is happening."
"Isobel is lying. She is buying time.  You know she'll never let me go. But you can feel the darkness too, right? That's why you don't like being in my head. Because you know it's real."
"I didn't want that to be true, but yes."
"I know my sister and I know your sister and they'll never give up. So you have to be the one to stop this surgery, okay? Or I will destroy everything that we love. You have to stop them to save them. Now go.  Please, Rosa. Go."
Isobel explaining to Liz
"When he saved Rosa he absorbed all of that dark energy. He's gonna have to expel it."
"And he's afraid he's gonna kill someone when he does."
"Yeah. So we just need someone stronger than Max to take that hit...if he thinks he needs to protect us he obviously doesn't know how capable we are. Bring him back, Liz. I'll handle the rest."
"I get it now. It's gotta be the three of us."
"He would never pull his plug to end his own suffering. Unless he thought he was saving us from something. And I'm a little sick of his heroic martyr crap."
In case you missed it, Michael did not know that.  At the beginning of the hospital sequence Isobel is telling Liz what she learned in Max's mindscape and says that she hasn't been able to get ahold of Michael.  Michael figured it out on his own. He finally "got it".
The pacemaker:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isobel with Max at the end… everything is gone except the Jeep. And Bright Eyes playing (the song he and Liz danced to on their first date back in 2008). And then his eyes close and Bright Eyes fades away.
“First thing I remember is the three of us. We woke up terrified and lost. But together. And then all of the sudden I was alone. I got real good at being alone. I had given up on people entirely. And then you found me again. Hell of hero move. You showed up just in time. When you are a kid who nobody loves, kindness is a currency. Friendship doesn’t means jack. Family just lies, and hurts, and leaves. I’ve only ever known love to be temporary. So yeah, I push people away. Every time someone threatens to care about me I test their love until they have to leave. Connection is conditional. Everybody eventually gives up on the guy who refuses to be rescued. But you were the only one who I couldn’t run off. You never believed me when I tried to be something I wasn’t. So this thing in your chest, it might give your heart a pretty solid kick every once in a while. Consider it payback. It’s my hero move, Max. If you wake up, you consider us even, okay? If you wake up, we can be a family.”
Good visual parallels during Michael's speech. Alex and Kyle drinking together during the "and then you found me again". Maria walking up on "the guy who refuses to be rescued"
Max is in the coma for three weeks.  Wakes up at the secret lab (instead of his house, which is where he was previously.  I'm guessing it was a planned wake up because he's no longer plugged into all of the IVs and whatnot.
"I begged you to understand."
"Max, it's gonna be fine."
"No… I told you to let me go. I can feel it inside me."
"It's...it's symmetry, okay? It's just energy for energy.  We can deal with that. Fight it, Max. This isn't you."
"I don't want to hurt you. I need to get out. I need to get away from you, from everyone."
"I can't let you do that."
Max shoves Isobel and runs. When he shoves her there's a slight ringing like the sound they use when the aliens use their powers.  Isobel follows and stops him with her powers.
"I made a promise that if you came back and you weren't Max, and you were actually going to hurt people that I would kill you. I figure, hey, you got to play God. Make life and death decisions all on your own. Well it's my turn now."
